The Lost Cause Myth: The Civil War and Slavery
"High school was ninety nine percent black but we had a white. Ap history teacher. i can't remember her name. I just remember that. She always had a really nice manicure like she had those long nails. In like the most beautiful chris writing but i remember when we got to lake the civil war unit in our american issue class. She was like okay first of all. They're people who we're going to tell you that the civil war had nothing to do with slavery that is a lie. It absolutely had something. Maybe they're gonna talk. They're going to blame it on states rights to blame it on heritage. That is not true absolutely had something to do with slavery. I remember to sitting there being like like like. Why is he talking about. It was decades decades but it was a wild later until i finally heard about this thing called. The loss caused the last. 'cause myth is this idea that the civil war at least from the point of view of the south had nothing to do with slavery that it was about state's rights that southerners were just trying to protect their way of life that they fought honorably and righteously. They were trying to protect their families from this war of northern aggression and that robbie lee who was the head general for the confederate army's was seamus perfect. Gentlemen he didn't even want to fight the civil war in it. Tore him up inside to be doing this. And oh by the way sleigh. Wasn't even that bad. And enslaved people in the south were treated well by their masters and there were loyal to their masters. and that they even fought alongside the confederates. It's a way of buffing and smoothing out all these ugly realities of what slavery actually is into the glossy gone with the wind myth. It's like that's easier to believe right. Yeah that's easier to believe than to think like such horrible horrible. Inhumanity happened right. And you know i've been thinking about the last 'cause lately because on january six we saw confederate flags in the capital in that was truly shocking and then a couple of weeks later i was growing on twitter and i was really struck by this video as we continue our focus on most interesting new books. Cbs navien this guy named ty sidley. He had been in the military for about thirty years. He taught history at west point and he had just retired so we can finally speak his mind in full. And he's talking about how he grew up in the south and had grown up believing in the loss kaz and how robert e lee was his hero until one day he had this revelation that robert e lee was a confederate trader. He was a cruel and someone who believed deeply firmly and really is entire life that human enslavement was the best social system for the south. The result of that work. His new book robert l. e. n. Me and how old was he when he had this revelation. Did you get a sense. He was like forty years old and had a phd in history. So why did you want to talk to so many people like talking about disinformation right now. And whether it's cunanan whether it's believing like the president really won the election you know all these like we're conspiracy theories and we talk about it in this way like it's it's a new thing but you know the loss. 'cause myth is nothing if not like a huge disinformation campaign. And so we've been here before and we also know that it's really hard to have a functioning democracy when like significant portions of the country. Like can't even agree on basic facts and like one of the most basic facts is like. Why did we fight the civil war. And so like if that's the case then like we have to get a lot of people white people to like wake up and just admit. The civil war was fought because of slavery. How did we get white people to dislike. Get on the same page and here was a white person who went through. The problem has done it. Yeah

"Rather sad. Tina was showing more and more, and she did close to her shows so that everyone could see that she was pregnant. Their first son Robin was born in one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, two. Cool so Tina, Chris didn't seem to have any problems in their relationship if they did crisp, left it out. The only thing that became a problem was Christmas partying. Now with a baby, Tina told him that he needed to be a responsible husband and father and get his act together and he did. So what I mean by that is he did get into the habit of doing cocaine and staying out and doing parties and she was like, okay, that's enough. And so that was enough. We're GONNA. Fast forward, of course, we know that the fantastic stop making sense almost created and Tina Chris went on to be record producers and they said as Chris Writing this book Chris was writing her memoir still looking beautiful and how I adore her. Tina Chris had a second child with and with a nanny they continue to tour with the babies. Of course, speaking in tongues was recorded as was more Tom Tom Club records, and you can see the music video for burning down the house which got heavy rotation on. MTV. So they just continue to be very busy to release things I guess it seems like things were going out a fine pace because nobody really seemed to go off the deep end or anything and they kept releasing really quality stuff for years. Yeah. David would continue to do hurtful things tell the crew on mutual projects that Chris and Tina were divas and hard to work with. But Chris and Tina took the high road and they were just said they believed that that was projection. TNN Chris would spend quality time with their children and enjoyed traveling to Paris to see family and enjoy the romantic place together. They also spend time on their boats, clear their heads and get away from everything they went to Bruce springsteen concerts and spend time with him in Patty scale. Faa they recorded a Tom Tom Club with Lou. Reed like. Their rock and Roll James were just coming true like crazy. So talking heads had eight studio albums, Tom Club. In produced six albums while touring internationally. And in nineteen one, David kind of snuck out of the talking heads. He stops taking their phone calls and all communication stopped T-DATA. Chris built a great recording studio and started making him producing records in two thousand and one. They got a call that they were being inducted into the rock and roll. Hall of fame is actually the same time as Tom Petty and the heartbreakers, and so they began rehearsal. They rehearsed as a band and Chris that it went well despite David, not talking to them for ages. Here's another kind of like interesting thing about David's personality that nate at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame induction, his wife couldn't find him. And apparently, he decided that night. To, tell her that he wanted a divorce. WHOA. Now, anyways, since everyone hadn't stopped performing everyone was in really great shape at the rock and Roll Hall of Fame Right? Rusty obeyed like they'd still been doing it for years. They'd taken good care of themselves it seemed and you can watch the Rocker Hall of fame their performance there. You can see the cuts to the crowd and you can see their their two sons or they're dancing. Cool. I. Love it too. Chris believes at the Rock and roll, Hall of fame gave talking heads a happy ending. Of course, talking heads will never end. They will always continue to influence bands. Hopefully, New People are discovering them still to this day. Yeah. Tina had said in an interview really early on when one of their first performances that she wanted talking heads to make their mark on music history. then. They did. They did they certainly did. Two Thousand and twelve. Tom. Club. Release downtown rockers like they just kept putting out quality. Yeah. So that's pretty much it. I'm going to read you one last thing just towards the end of the book. What do you think we can expect from Tina Solo album. A memoir not album. Her memoir what would you kind of hope that we didn't mention here that you would get from that? That's interesting because i. feel like you covered so much with this and I guess just more her point of view how she felt as a woman. In this time. Hopefully, somewhere fun like random stories because those are always. Interesting and. Yeah Probably about motherhood and things like that as well. Yeah. That's definitely good call and you know I wonder if Chris did gloss over some things with their relationships like Keno told me to get my life together like I like really almost downplaying any kind of issues. I wonder if she would tap into that a little bit more and and. Probably, I assume like they did have conversations where like a well that happened to me and it was deeply personal. So I'm GonNa Right like the full story on that type of thing may be. Okay. Chris says. Tina. I continued to have a wonderfully romantic life together. We've been married for forty two years. We treat each other with real love and we have many good friends who have shown us their love to both of our sons have made us proud and have become artists in their own right robin music production began as a painter and sculptor. Both of them are really good at what they do and have developed hard-earned followings of their own Tina and I have taught them to be honest loving in kind Tina told them. The opposite of love is not hate the opposite of love is selfishness. Interesting I was wondering if their kids were doing anything. In the arts that make sense with the parents this is what's so good. Yeah, and of course you know he finishes the book by saying that teen and I remain in love. Come on. There's just like perfect. Love this. Is a real joy to read. It was Super Fun, typing it up especially with some of the you know I had that. Tom Club and talking heads energy behind me an inch. Yeah Yeah I hope you enjoyed music that we added in. And I should. Watch American Utopia the David. Byrne. A. Live show that was just put out by Spike Lee and cover that on the Patriot on that would be fantastic. I. Would Love that I'm also rewatching stop making sense soon because we have it on DVD and we have a DVD player, but we don't have the court for it. So we just heard the cord and I get to watch only as my special features and like we have so many concert docs and Yep I just love hearing like directors. Speak over top of things like I know you're the same way. So yeah, and especially now when we can't go to live concerts at least we have all these great concert ducks to keep us. Keep the energy and the music alive. Totally well, that wraps up another episode. Thank you so much for listening. Thank, you and thank you, sean do that was fantastic my pleasure and we'll see you next time. Music is produced.

And I think I I've taken a formula of a show that happens, you know, three hours a day five days a week and said that's bloated and stupid and probably the wrong approach. I want to laugh. I get that. I just You know, I watched Ah. I watch. That show from the moment it was on the Tracey Oldman show, so I got to see it from its very genesis. So It has a special place. The funniest Seinfeld episode for me was when Kramer was doing stand up comedy. And there are a couple of African American people talking in the in the stand up comedy venue, and then he unleashed a tirade on them. You need to understand. Okay. What are your favorite television programs If I may get up all in your business, um I do a lot of binge watching on Netflix. But right now, I like it here in front on HBO, which I know a lot of people probably don't like. No, no, I I think a lot of people at least a lot of people I'm connected to on social media. Do seem to like that. That knew. Perry Mason, I I didn't. Ah, it didn't do much for me. I did start watching succession Att, the urging of a friend and I like the 1st 2 episodes of that, and there's a fantastic show. That's not for everyone, but it's for a very Very specific type of viewer, and I don't know who that viewer is. It's called Patriot and it's on Amazon Prime, and I find this to be one of the most unique. Special television programs to come along. But unlike kingdom, I don't recommend it for everyone. I think maybe one out of 1000 people would appreciate it. Ah, and I'd urge you to watch the first episode and see if you fall in love with. It's called Paid. Well, I will watch Patriot. I hope you like it. Call me back and tell me what you think. But not right away may well, all right. Well, here's here's your first clip. Ah, six part action miniseries entitled Catch 22 that came out of the end of last year. He's the main star in like they catch 22 that used to exist back in the day. It's it's limited. Siri's adapts of the classic Joseph Heller novels. Yeah. I don't know why it's called to catch 22. Where your damned if do you do and you're damned if you don't, But I guess that's probably explained in the novel, which I probably read a long time ago. You just watch the show and you get coach Taylor. You've heard that expression row? Yeah, that's a real catch. 22 real damned if you do damned if you don't still don't know why it makes any sense. Path to Success in CFI Flight Training
"To another episode of Aviator Casts. My name is Chris Palmer from England attack it's great to have you here it's a beautiful ball sunny day kind of actually the sun's Kinda coming house raining earlier kind of weird time of year for weather here just took some pictures just a few minutes ago out on the lake beautiful still water flow planes beautiful colors behind I'm sure I'll put some of those those photos on instagram anyway today we're going to talk about a subject that I'm very passionate Russian about we're GONNA be talking about training now as a CFI I really really really have some deep opinions about this and I I definitely want to teach you guys what I think is required of CFI's to become the best possible see if I can be and of course we do that through training and through a process where we grow into that now I think that that this comes with a little bit more insight into who we are as people first first before we dive into this so have you always wanted to share aviation in this way and maybe share it with others maybe not even this way but maybe you've wanted the share aviation with others do you consider yourself a good teacher in your profession or in some other way do you feel like you can teach people well are you passionate about helping future aviators you want more people in aviation do you WanNa make a real difference in someone's career and you want to learn more about aviation at a faster your pace than ever before become the best pilot you could possibly that is going to be what we discussed today in a lot of that has to do with becoming a CFI hi now I'll just preface it with saying that for me this is the path that I've chosen at least so far aviation I this is basically where I'm going to be staying being unless something else kinda crazy happens but I wanna be a lifelong educator I wanNA keep giving back in this way because I've really enjoyed this I've really enjoyed being a CFI enjoyed the type of training that I've been able to do for people and actually see people go through and reach their aviation goals because of what I was able to share with them and I not only do that through fight training at my flight school here in Homer Alaska is where we're are located but I also do it through my website angle of attack dot com where I do online ground school so really enjoy that process and this is my career career this is what I've chosen a really enjoy it now because of that I'll give you this warning that if you aren't passionate about teaching and you aren't going to you the absolute best for your students and really take care of them like on a human level then please find another way to build your time or become a better pilot we don't need people that aren't passionate about teaching to become CFI's it actually just hurts the industry pushes people out because they you don't get the proper introduction to aviation they have too many roadblocks to aviation they feel like they're being held back mostly being held back from their instructors who for one reason or another just don't want to teach aren't good at teaching their heart isn't in it whatever it is do you ever want a favor and don't become a CFI okay. I know that sounds weird like totally opposite of not totally opposite what I'm talking about but I just want to preface it that outweigh with a warning that please become a cfo of your heart isn't going to be in it all right so this is a really interesting training process says because it's unlike anything else that you've done before it's unlike private instrument or commercial you are going to go into the process and really focus on people I think that's a big message I want to get across in this podcast podcast it's really actually all about the people you are teaching and becoming better at reading them at getting to know them at a helping them overcome their plateaus and things like that it's all about the people so a lot of people look to see and they say okay you know here's this person who who went through a ton of training and they know everything and I can go to them with any possible question I have but I'll tell you that that nine times out of ten when some people come to me with questions I typically don't know what they are I mean I I guess maybe unfair but if it's a difficult question they come to me with a difficult question question I don't necessarily know what they are I know where to find them and where to look and that is basically what makes an instructor good is where they look look for it in other words we aren't note all's we don't know everything but we know where to look so set that part aside on CFI's knowing every everything because the prefacing with that make sure that we aren't talking through this podcast this path to see a FI training success about how to cram all the knowledge you possibly can into your had that really this process is going to become more of something on the human I'm in level so being isn't about knowing everything being a CFI about mentoring being see see if is about teaching being chief is about the student at the end of the day that's all it is about everything to do throughout your training should speak to the ultimate goal of guiding someone through this process so no matter what you do no matter how you train your ultimate goal should it'd be how do I best help this person this individual that has this passion for aviation or this this desire to want an aviation career whatever it is how do I help them reach that goal regardless if you're an apart- one forty one school or a part sixty one school regardless on a a human level you need to be focused on the individual it's so so important so that is what this training is going to all be about now I wanNA talk about some the steps through the training that I think you should focus on so we're gonNA talk about how to prepare for that CFI training and I and of course it always starts with the knowledge right and I know I just kind of talked about the knowledge and how it isn't that big of a deal well you do have to go through and you do have to do certain tests of course Chris written tests you will do the F. A. Y. The fundamentals of instruction and you will do the flight instructor airplane tests now you can get your see if double I before you get your cfi a basically see if I aircraft so some people do it the other way before they do the CIA but regardless you're gonNA take a couple of written tests we're going to go through through and study for those you should be a professional at doing that now going through doing that and of course you can you can do that ground school with us we'll be doing a CFI ground school eventually I'm I'm pretty passionate about this topic so I wouldn't be surprised I if if if I training ends up being kind of one of the cornerstones of what we do angle of attack in the long term that that that really prepare CFI's PFI's to teach well into teach passionately and to be good mentors and be good people into a good to people all right so you go through this process you you are essentially learning how to teach that's what the F. A. Y. Fundamentals of instruction is trying to do I will say that the F. A. Y. in the book that comes for that from the FAA you can download it freely. I bought a hard copy just 'cause I buy hard copies of the basic documents from the FAA or text books you know it's very wordy it's it's very hard to read but the premise of the the of the concepts is correct and knowing learning those is very important on how you can help your students it it it's really actually at the end of the day the F. O. Y. is psychology teaching psychology for instructors as it applies to aviation so it's how to read people how to make sure they're comfortable how to help them get over plateaus it so it does a handful of things there but in Kinda very rigid let brain way in kind of how I see it

"Night Live. Oh, nice house is she going to take serious tour Turner, they going to do a humorous here. Moose version of my story feeling she'll just be acting and she's going to take it serious role. Yeah. That'd be a new twist. Yeah. Why not gonna do voice? You got to do the voice, of course. Yeah. The stunt double. Sean could overdubbed it as necessary. She can't get the voice tone down. So listen to this. I found this. So interesting. Come for the sincerity, some might even say vehemence of this and stay for. Samarra Neha think it's Chris wrote us this Email fascism on the rise. Question. Mark is this topic? Hey, boys. The number one tool of the fascist is lying deceit chaos, and attacking the press the theory goes if you have your own facts, and I have mind there's no truth. Therefore, we cannot have an honest debate. I see you have taken this to heart. Trump promised to release his tax returns after the election. I don't know. No. I don't think he did. He said he couldn't because he was under audit. He would release them after the auditing process was done. It was a silly dodge. Yes, absolutely dodge. He did say I'll release them after the on it, but he clearly is going to claim their under audit forever. So So Chris now point number one having called us fascist fascist. I just think you're wrong. He didn't say you would release them after the election. He said he'd released them after the audit was done again a week dodge in an excuse, but you're just wrong. He did not campaign on not releasing them. All bold. Now, you're actually lying about the about the facts. I think what people mean is that that was such a week dodge. Everybody knew it, and it was so well publicized American voters. Got the chance to decide. Are we going to elect somebody who is clearly unwilling to release his taxes? That's what we meant. Chris. I don't think that makes us guilty of fascism. Reading on the AG already investigated the surveillance on Trump and found no evidence of wrongdoing. I don't think that's correct. He might mean, the inspector general. Who looked into it? And I can't remember the conclusion, but it was a non-conclusion conclusion as I recall. And found no evidence of wrongdoing although the surveillance turned into three indictments but the AG found no wrongdoing. Again, I don't think he means. I think he means I g and I don't think he's right on the facts. I'm also impressed by your pursuit of local state corruption. But you not cover all the federal corruption you actually defend it. This is another misrepresentation by you of the facts, keep spreading lies and undermining our democracy, you make Putin proud. I take pleasure in you, flushing all your morals and everything you stand for down the toilet. As you try to normalize Trump's corruption and despicable behavior. Attacking a dead war hero. Now, we said that was awful, Chris. I think either you have a hearing problem some sort of memory problem or you just suffer from excessive vehemence think you're wrong. Most your facts. But feel free. I mean, check them out if you like and get back to us. Ironically, given your accusation that we're fascists which is not only hilariously inaccurate. But kind of play dude, Colin everybody you disagree with a fascist as just kind of pathetic these days, but we'd be more than the lighted. And continuing the conversation if you'd like. More texts coming in on the homeless story man, this story just constantly well, depending on where you live. But if you live in a city that's got the homeless problem you run into it. Every single day of your white. It's a crisis never mind the border. It's a crisis in the cities and metro areas of particularly the west coast I've seen all three documentaries related to Seattle homeless there. But for the grace of God demon at the door and Seattle is dying. I'm a frequent visitor to Seattle, and my son and family lived there. It's a horrific scene everywhere. You look in downtown and along the freeways off-ramps you name. It ninety percent of the homeless problem is addiction. So in the documentary says one hundred percent, so none of these people have the ability to take care of themselves. Even if you give them a house must see videos. Very well done shows, you all you need to know solutions would involve radical steps you will never get people to agree with in Seattle or maybe anywhere else. That would take radical steps you would have to force people into mental hospitals, or if it's mostly drug addicts as seems to be the case in Seattle. Anyway, you'd have to force people into rehabs, right? Are we willing to do that? And if we're not, okay, let's grow up now. Now what? Well, if you have no services for people who are just junkies by choice. Trust too far ins are idiots or bad decision makers. They will be forced into various programs, and or employment or or Clinton up their act-. Okay. Actually, mentally ill. I have no problem with tax when he going to help. Now, that's fine. Although it's it's incredibly expensive and difficult to tell you even figure out what's wrong. Let alone come up with a treatment. You have to realize what you're biting off there. But but for the for the, you know, addicts or drugs, or whatever I just. I don't know what you think's going to happen. I wish I wish people would be more on. I don't know. I've been like I said I've been to city council meetings. I've been involved in some of these conversation with a bunch of different people, the chamber of commerce and cities and talking to cops and all kinds of stuff because of where I live. I think people just have to Rosen opinion of rehabs. Yeah. Oh, yeah. As you've made the point many times if you are seriously interested in cleaning up your act and you go through a rehab program. Your chance of succeeding is pretty low real low in many cases, single digits. Yeah. Like really low because it's a really really hard thing. So that sucks, but there's nothing on God's green earth that has been invented yet. That will that is better than that. What do you wanna do? Why are you taking my money? And why are you letting them just lay around in the street and harm net? Business and scare my kid and make it uncomfortable to walk down the sidewalk or their own consciences. That's why they soothe your conscience understand. Well, because well, listen, here's part of it. Culture is so important, and so little understood by a lot of people I think, but like the culture in ISIS is if you're even the wrong kind of Muslim are you a step outside the line and they'll saw your damn head off. I mean, that's a heck of a culture. We're privileged to have people listening around the country all over the world via the interwebs. But. On the west coast in particular and a couple of eastern cities, but mostly just the west coast, a culture has arisen of all compassion and compassion quotes, all compassion, and no realism, no Ryoko discipline. No insistence that people act like human beings. It's a culture of nothing. But compassionate, and you get to divide into groups. Are you a good person or a bad person? If you're on the compassion side. You're good person. If you're not you're a bad person. And you don't dare speak out and say, I think this is a terrible thing because then you're a bad person and suffered terrible social consequence. So there's no room for I think it'd be great to help. But none of your solutions will do anything. Right. Right. So it's a culture of always doing your kid's homework for them. Societally speaking never punishing them because you feel bad never taken away a privileged or putting them in a time out. You know, you know, never letting your dog bite people and jump on them, whatever it just never know practicality, all compassion. And it's yielding just terrible results. But it takes a long time before the social shaming gets kind of shoved back by the the discussing reality and people finally wake up to what they've done. But I tell you what that culture, we're talking about is so entrenched in in particular, Seattle, Portland. I'm working my way, north to south San Francisco to some extent, like San Jose Silicon Valley to some extent in San Diego. It's it's it's amazing to watch. It's a giant social experiment who where's it end? I wonder how it ends try not step on needles. I think I know how it ends. I it's going to be tough though, because the courts because the way the courts handle it. But yeah, getting fed up with it. Even in a lot of so-called compassionate cities, where there are no people saying all right? Look, I can't go to the park. I can't you know, I can't run a business because customers won't come in now. So there's enough people. But you're right about the courts, but the courts won't let you do anything. What do you do was it a circuit court ruling was at the nights? I can't remember who rule that it was a pretty high level judge though ruled that any like anti-vagrancy ordinances or anti camping ordinances beyond very narrowly drawn couple. They're just they're infringements on people's rights. So if somebody's literally pooping and sleeping in front of your business and scaring, your customers screaming at them, whatever it's practically impossible to do anything now, which is just well. L society. So I think the only thing you could do in your town in your county or wherever you live is eliminate the magnet of all the programs. The only thing you can do and have a move to one of the towns where they give out for instance, Seattle of billion dollars worth of whatever they're giving out. Right. Eighty thousand dollars per homeless person in. All right. Welcome to free adult at Townsend had enormous magnet the towns that have the most programs have the most homeless people. That's not an accident. Right. So you've got to be a town that you don't give that stuff out. I think that's your only choice. I think so. Yeah. Yeah. Make it hostile to bums in every single way you can. And that's there's no political will for that. And a lot of places. Yeah. There there's more than enough in most places. Oh, yeah. Most places have held onto their sanity. But not, you know, Cal unicorn Lia, and it's it's up and down the west coast must be something about the wind coming off the Pacific or something. I don't know. So Jeff Bezos richest man in the world says market research doesn't help. He's speaking about the echo saying, here's here, for instance, product, no customers looking for. This is definitely just coming up with it on our own if you had gone to a customer in two thousand thirteen and said, would you like a black always.

"Welcome back to the Dave is never going to commercial break. I gave you a little bit of a challenge. You had you know phenomenal career success. Qualcomm, which would be comfortable for particularly in the wireless base has kind of the holy grail plays for a lot of wireless people to find their homes and be able to do some great and exciting work agree. Now, you stepped away you and your co Kander took on a new challenge. A lot of the listeners of the show are innovators. They're working on their own ideas and given your career success and your perspective. Here's an opportunity to act as an advisor to the listeners out. These are innovators that could be not tech tech. But what advice would you give an innovator if they're thinking about stepping out and doing something on their own? Okay. Yeah. It's a tough question. There's a lot of advice out there. I'm sure all of us have read folks. Statue go through check. Yes. I read those books too. But I'll keep it personal. I felt like one of the most important thing is what do make sure it is something you. Passionate about and even when things get tough you're willing to tough it out. Because the worst thing is you did something because you think you can make money quickly. You think? And when things don't go, right. I really hated the idea in the first place, then it will go really badly because it's a long journey as as you know, nothing happens quickly, and it's long hours. Without that Hashem and drive that you believe it. I think that I will put that number one. Yeah. Erasing. 'cause there's also this. There's some people out there. It's always been the the occurs to what you're passionate about. Right. You know, if you if you if you would be willing to do it for free correct within which most innovative and having to do. Really? You're starting out you're doing yes. Because you're spending your own saving. Yes. He gets to get the idea going, right? But there's also is that there are some there are some advisors out there that are saying, no, no, no. It's not about passion. It's about you know, the money thing. But I'm in your camp, which says if your motivation is to try to to make just do it for the money. Like, I'm with all this. This is going to be big. I'll get my I'll become I'll get my my first ten million or whatever. And then soon as you get into a little bit of friction you're hopping off onto the next thing. You never stadium where listeners of the show her tell the story, you know, I had I did not get too much. I I. Until my thirteenth startup while thirteen. I started in nineteen eighty I was got through the valley the first time in in the early eighties. And that was. Primary jobs having a couple of side hustles going rights, and but it will tell you the difference on my success team. Which is my number two. Yeah. It is. It's having having your case, you talked about the co founder you had worked together you had confidence yet trust you need to have trust. And in each other and always surround yourself with people smarter than you. And then you wouldn't to listen because none of us is all the time in my case, almost none. Listen to people who are smarter than you. And obviously not blindly, obviously, right? Seek out advice. You can you can get advisers that has way more than you have Michelle what you do is grounded to own reality. Right. You have a passion to has a flying car tomorrow. But is not gonna be tomorrow. Right. So measure that. So that you need to make sure that at the end of the day. Right. Yeah. So you do have to do all your leg work on the business out of things as well. I think there are plenty of books that talks about that. Right. All right near case. Did you and your co founder was a was a complementary skills? You have skills in different areas that could have filled in for each other. There are actually. Okay. So. Here I myself, and we do have similar skews and some complimentary skills in order to be able to deliver the entire solution most of the year, and then then you didn't go out there and find the right team enders will company you and make a complete. It's very difficult to has a wide spread of skews the covers everything so from innovation technology side to the development work to business. So I would argue that almost nobody has debt breath at all. So. You have the founding team the courtroom to start with that you need to very quickly. Add onto it with the smartest people you can find and their adding all the pieces of the puzzle. So how big is it mostly? Now, we are about thirty. Okay. How much money twenty one? Okay. Who who your investors? We have Sutter hill ventures, clear ventures than water international. Oh. Yeah. That's a good crew. So we talk a little bit about advisors, right? And everybody wants to, you know, how do you find the right adviser because you know, you talked earlier about, you know, because, you know, not many people can get on Hennessy's documented. We'll get to get him to get him to pick up the phone. Right. What what advice would you give to an entrepreneur and finding adviser because there's some advisers who are really good, and there's some advisors as we know that aren't as good. So what quite sure you would you use? If you were to select your when you look at select advisors people that you're gonna listen to or seek advice from possession question within so much time on just because we work with, but we were lucky enough to note the individual. So so we actually reach out to people that has been helping us guiding us over Korea path over the last so many years, I will argue is not just for startups oil innovators all of us in our lives should seek out individuals. There were guidance with talent as a to all the time. And I personally have very fortunate to have that. And I think that's a good point because sometimes people wait too late and they're to try to find an advisor to solve the problem stabbing. Somebody who who's been walking alongside an extended period of time right at all of this new health advisor. So so that is something that I think independent of whether you're starting out, and we went there immediately. We're going to start a company next stuff. The house. Yeah. In the case of did. You take any angel funds? Or was it straight for be for a few of us as you put in a little bit of the money's, right? And. And mostly it's been around for what we said two and a half years breath yet, and you said you're going to samples here in Q two. Yeah. That's actually a pretty pretty fast pace. We are very fortunate to have a central team of very good engineers from the industry with a good background having done. The wireless connected with the end up past lives. So we were very fortunate. Yeah. Let's say let's you know, going from start up. Assoc- ready for her early early designed one weren't as not just our side. "One thousand ginger sends me this story from the blue lives matter a blog Lee. This is absolutely hilarious. Maybe we can start calling a standard transmission, the anti millennial theft device. It's a story about a man who got out of his car left the keys in it to go run in and get a Cup of coffee at the convenience store to thugs jumped into the car only to realize it was a standard transmission as the car hopped and bumped across the parking lot. The two thugs realized they weren't getting anywhere got out and ran away the owner of the car was able to get his car back. Call police and the thugs were captured shortly thereafter. Standard chance mission. That's the other thing though. You're seeing fewer and fewer of it's getting to the point where you almost have to ask for it because everything comes standard automatic. Anyway. Four one thousand star one thousand Jacqueline rights Lee, we're talking about guns, and I've noticed several times recently with different family members going into the ER one of the questions they ask in the admin process for physical problems was is there a gun in the house. I had to bite my tongue and keep from taking umbrage at this. If it had been me, I would have given them an earful and Jacqueline the best thing you can say is none of your business. Course, they're gonna write down. Yup. Here's what I have noticed Jacqueline. I have noticed that. They only ask you that question. If you have children, I don't have any children. So I never get asked that question. The other thing I've noticed is that it depends upon the insurance that is provided by the place you're going into be treated. So if you're going into a regular hospital, and they are and you don't have say regular insurance. And you know, you're going in on on, you know, a government plan. They will ask you that. But if you have a certain insurance my insurance doesn't care. But certain health insurance is due and they wanna know. But yes, you certainly can answer none of your business. And it is an infraction. I do believe Chris writes, the problem, I have is that there is not oh he's talking about the the red flag laws that you're seeing popping up throughout the United States. Basically it allows complaints to police to allow them to come and take your guns away. Maryland is where it is really happening. And it's already cost a problem. Some guy got in a fight with his sister in law. She called the cops on him saying he was mentally unstable. And you need to come get his guns. Well, the cops came banging on his door to take his guns and a shootout ensued. He was killed cops were injured didn't have to happen. Anyway, Chris writes, the problem with the red flag laws is that there is not any definition as to what constitutes taking away. Somebody's rights without any due process or verification of what is really going on if somebody has a sleeping disorder or even as slightly depressed. They are not in danger to themselves or others. Not only that. But these red flag laws can ruin somebody's life without any trial indefinitely. They can be renewed or resubmitted at any time by anyone without any question till the end of time this actually puts more people endanger than it could ever save. They can't enforce the law. They have now so doing this is just insult to injury. It is nothing more than a power grab to take guns away from anyone at any time without due process and without question. And you're right, Chris, that's exactly it. And hopefully, somebody will come along who will be affected by these so-called red flag laws. Who will mount a constitutional challenge, and we will find that. It does not survive the constitutional challenge that set a reminder open carry is going to go before a subcommittee on Thursday, Oklahoma second amendment association is inviting you to join them at a mini rally in the rotunda of the capital that morning Thursday morning. I think they're meeting at ten o'clock under the rotunda you can park on the south parking lot. If you wanna go and see how government is..
