Bucks protest by not playing Game 5

"The NBA's Milwaukee Bucks. The team with the best record in the League decided not to take the floor for game five of their playoff series against Orlando. The players made the decision to call for change following the police shooting of Jacob Lake in Kenosha Wisconsin the later postponed that game as. Well as to whether that were set to take place. The cause was later taken up by the WNBA several baseball teams, several major league soccer teams, and tennis player Naomi Osaka former. NBA Player Chris Webber gave emotional analysis of the Milwaukee players decision last night delivering a powerful message on what would have been the live telecast of the game we understand is not gonna end but that does not mean young men that you don't do anything. Don't listen to these people telling you don't do anything because it's not going to end right away. You were starting something for the next generation and the next generation to take over you have to be smart. Yes. Do you have to make sure that you have a plan. Yes. Do you have to be articulate about that plan? Yes. All of those things but that's what you're going to do. They're professionals they know how to be the best of themselves. And so I applaud it I applaud it because it is the young people is the young people leading the way. And I applaud. NBA Players, association held a meeting last night about whether to continue to play this season multiple reports say the La Lakers clippers voted against finishing the postseason home. Teams voted to continue the NBA's board of governors will meet today to determine the next steps Milwaukee Bucks on Mark Lazarie West's Edens Jamie. Dinan said they didn't know about the boycott beforehand they wholeheartedly agree with the players Dallas Mavericks owner. Mark. Cuban gives squawk box this statement I fully support our players change is never easy. I am proud of our guys taking the lead and using their platform to try and effect change I am with them every step of the way, and it is amazing to think that the bucks decision to protest the game happen exactly four years to the day after Colin Kaepernick I took a knee to protest the playing of the National Anthem

"Issue is like. A. Very stupid question. There's no issue we go which is damn when we came out, we couldn't make shots the whole series. Awesome. Man I. It's frustrating enough like everybody play hard we try. Hostages Their Fall Times on defense was not good. It's not a stupid question. It wasn't a well structured question. Just. Ask What is wrong. You don't have to give him like and let me give you five options here. Know this is in the SAT. What went wrong with his team this year. That's all you need to ask. I mean you got swept you have questions. It wasn't just Ben Simmons. Being injured. Look at the Brooklyn Nets. And as much as I don't like Kyrie. I love what I saw with the nets. They played hard. Every single game they played like they wanted their coach to be hired fulltime Jacques von they played. Like they wanted or felt like they could win ever get. Now they didn't and they got roughed up by the raptors which we thought they would but you know there's a big difference here. Those guys didn't have necessarily the talent but they did have the attitude to go out there and play hard member when they beat the bucks, they were eighteen and a half underdogs and that's when everybody goes. Wow. Wait a minute the nets without Kyri and Katie and they beat the bucks. In Look, the raptors are dangerous team, probably the best team in the east and but the nets played hard every single game and the problem I have with I, solve the sixers there was no enthusiasm. There is no sense of urgency whatsoever and you pay the price but Joel Embiid Bill Leader Answer. The question you got swept, we'll take a break we'll talk to Chris Webber get his thoughts on a variety of things including. Why would you just have one person on Luca John Chick with the game on the line That's coming up next. "I'm going into business with you you're going to we're going to produce your podcast. WE'RE GONNA pick up to ten semifinalists. We're getting a thousand dollars to produce a pilot episode and it does not have to be on sports. We keep getting that question does it have to be just sports? No, we can be on anything as long as you think it's sustainable that you could put out at. least ten episodes. That's all I'm asking a chance. You know during the pandemic, you want somebody to listen to your pitch. Now you get a chance, you get a chance to have your own podcast. Thanks to the great people at Iheartradio, who work with me on this process this program is brought to you by home depot with everyday low prices even bigger savings when you purchase by the Pallet, the pros best option when it comes to flooring the Home Depot Hell. Doers get more work done mclovin. What kind of poll question you have for me today? Okay. If we asked today WHO's coming out of the West Lakers, clippers, jazz rockets, mavericks is it the Lakers who wins that poll wall sudden? The Lakers are all better right. They had the game one loss, and then all know the sky's falling, and now they're playing a little bit better and now we don't look at this as a possibility of them being upset by the Portland Trailblazers. Lakers. Still it just Portland was not going to I think. Exacerbate those issues the next round probably those issues will be front and center on a more consistent basis but. I'm GONNA guess you'd probably still get the Lakers. I haven't seen greatness out of the clippers. And goodness is not going to get you to the Western Conference finals I got to see some greatness here and I need to see some consistency. So I. I would say the Lakers out of the West. What else do you have? I was GONNA ask who wins Clippers map series I. think that'd be close to fifty fifty. It might be but I would still say the clippers because I don't know porzingus status I. Think he had an MRI or is having more I can I ask Luka to do this again? And you, you're raised to twenty one point deficit. I mean, Donncha, one years of age but you're you're asking now he got help though curry in Trey Burke I mean they they had some help yesterday but I gotTa have porzingas in there and if you say porzingas healthy, then this might come down to. Sixty forty people think the clippers over the maps. I mean, the mavs are. There legitimate they were the one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA and you got a guy who is making everybody else better not just one dimensional gamma club another poll. Former Trade Brooks former team the sixers if they were going to trade what are these guys Ben Simmons and Embiid? Who would you trade? You know what bothers me about Joel Embiid is his body language. You know this is where you want a great player to be great. You're not going to beat the Celtics. You'RE NOT GONNA. Win The series. But this is where you have to say in these moments you can count on me to still be great and body language wise because he is he's got this ability to take over a game and really be a top five player. I just don't know if you can occasionally. WanNa be act like the one of the top five players a top five player is great. I can count on him. He talks like a great player top five player. He just doesn't act like it and the problem I see with the sixers is there's a general Malays there that just says, no. We're not any good. We're going to get our coach fired here. Anton and it's tough to be a leader in that had that immature response. He had after the game I know you're frustrated and you just got swept but he was asked a very legitimate question that anybody should feel comfortable asking and for him to react the way that was poor job. Yeah. I thought it was embarrassing. Here's the question Joel embiid response. What do you think the issue is with this team I, mean, do you think is the way it's bill? Coaching begins..

"Facility here but defense is optional here. Yes is it may be just the hyper focus on basketball right now while you're in the bubble. Could be last Chris Webber this but you know maybe all you have to do is just play basketball maybe go fish. Played Golf a little bit but it might be that. But I'm looking at, you know you're averaging the NBA's on pace with a high scoring postseason in thirty five years. The average for all playoff games is two hundred and twenty six points. Combine per. Game Two hundred and twenty six. And I'm watching yesterday with Murray Murray played forty three minutes. He had fifty points he had seven assists he turn over. Fifty points and they lose. I we always go back to Utah and I thought I, don't give him too much of a chance. Conley laughed laughed because his wife was giving birth Bogdanovich who was probably the second best player goes out with the risk surgery and I thought. At. The beginning of the year that was a team that could challenge for the Western Conference, and then all of a sudden here they are putting the pieces back together and I think most people thought Denver had the chance to be a spoiler in the West because of Bowl Bowl, and Michael member that talk that didn't last long they got bowl bowl and they got Michael Porter Jr. they got the joker here they got Jamal Murray and they have all those items but. Give Credit to Utah because I was pretty amazing yesterday. We got a poll question by the best and worst of the weekend as we always do what you saw that you liked to didn't like eight, seven, seven, three P. Shell you can.

"The most famous person in the world. He's reached the pinnacle of his career as one of the best basketball players to ever play the game. And what does he do? He leaves the sport altogether to try his hand at baseball. Then something funny happened Jordan. Young baseball career gets cut short. When Major League baseball goes on one of the longest strikes in its history and Michael Jordan goes back to basketball. The story could stop here but as we all know it doesn't Jordan goes on to win another three championships in kickstarts. What economists call the Jordan effect generating billions in revenue and re-energizing a struggling MBA? I'm Sean Braswell and I want you to check out. The new show. Presented by ozzy flashback and find out how some of the best laid plans can go horribly wrong or prove unexpectedly magnificent. Listen to flashback on the iheartradio APP apple podcasts. Or wherever you get your podcasts. Couple OF PHONE CALLS HERE. Settle on a poll question. Mellow Chris. Webber. Think he's a great guest he never you know he's told the Jordan story where he gets off the bus Jordan's waiting there with his sitting next to his Lamborghini smokin Cuban Cigar. Any told the story added something else to the story that he didn't tell us five years ago. These really a lot of fun ten Tampa us off this morning. Hi Ted what do you have for me today? Hey Dan you probably already know. What on Memorial Day? All the members of our special operations community that don't have a mission on Monday night. We'll be doing the Lieutenant Mike Murphy workout. You know honor of Mike Murphy. Who is killed awarded the Medal of Honor Operation Red Wings? The movie lone survivor was was made about that And from what I was told Polly's going to be doing that with this it's one mile run Hundred pull ups. Two hundred push ups three hundred watts and another one my run by Ted. I don't think you're talking about. You're not talking about my Paulie a lot. I've already picked up his shirt and I've already got his runners being okay. I'll mail that to you guys on Monday. Thank you Ted a Paulie He can't be talking about you. I don't think so not the rhyming I'll do if you pull up a push ups but I don. I run a mile whole calendar year. A total of total. I'm completely honest all right some. Nfl calls here on the proposed rule. Changes Doug North Carolina. What do you have for me today? Two quick questions. I and I was not intended to ask about this. But based on the way Chris Webber interview ended if the five of you guys really did home quarantine together and if he did start murdering each other who would be the last ten at standing and breathing but the the real reason I'm calling is I want. I want to make sure I understood you correctly. I have a fifteen year old son. Who's a huge Saint Fan and is still bitter about that? Non Call Pass Interference. Yeah and then the. Nfl tried to correct it last year and other going to get rid of their correction. And you said you're okay with that. I just WANNA understand your thinking. I judge now. The Sky Judge is what I want somebody. Who's part of the team? The problem I had with this is you had all-stars. You didn't have the regular team each week. These guys have a team that you know the team of referees and then they're together each week and I just think ego got in the way of this official not asking for help or somebody you can see. Somebody come down the sidelines as if to say. Hey we gotta talk about this and you can see where he's waved off. I think having somebody who will make a call or say guys huddle up. We miss something here. And I think ego got in the way where somebody didn't want to embarrass somebody and that then we saw what happened after that but I just wanted to correct. That's all you're there. You have an opportunity to correct something if we can see it you can see it and you should be able to make the right call and if you have the sky judge there who can help and he's not down on the field but he's a big brother there he's the eye in the sky to say huddle up guys. Let's talk about this. I think we miss something here. And gives give somebody an opportunity to look at it and say yeah. That's interference or no. That's not but they missed helmet-to-helmet and missed. I mean come on. There's no excuse for that now. That didn't mean you had to change the rule. Please clean it up when our in the books two more to go. Seton Paulie Fritzy. Mclovin yours truly here. Dan Patrick Show. I'm Jensen carpet. Figures are entertained themselves and their families. We'll find out if they're staying shape if their kids were heckling them during homeschool did they almost burn down the house trying to make their own bread. Are they sleeping in their jerseys and like I do up? No just meet all right. Some of my favorite episodes have been hearing boxing. Legend Sugar Ray Leonard. "Dp Show to get yours today mclovin. We'll have a poll question. We got a stat of the day. Got Play of the day coming up as well. Obviously there's a lot going on in the world. Obviously there's a lot going on in our country but for a certain portion of sports fans there are stories that we will click on no matter what everybody loves a good mock draft whether it's the NBA and that draft coming up the NFL with the mock draft for next year. And then you have. Nfl rule changes. Those aren't far behind because when you think about the impact rules have in the NFL on our lives every single Monday. We come in here and we're usually talking about a situation. That was either right or wrong. Because of a rule a rule change now. The owners are set to vote next week on two big ones. I The Sky Judge and I hope they call it the sky. Don't lawyer this up and give me some silly term. I want skied judge. I want somebody to have a business card. That says Jimmy Lipper Scott Judge. Now we're GONNA love this guy judge until the sky judge screws up but he or she is supposed to be up there helping the officials on the field with the amount of grief that officials receive. It makes a lot sense. The League is also considering an alternative to the onside kick. Was a couple of years ago where? Nfl officials said if we can take the kickoff out of the game we would take the kickoff out of the game. This who said to me and I said well. What are you proposing? We WanNA keep moving the kickoff up so all you have touch backs I said okay and I said well what about punts said. We can't do anything about punch. They're trying to cut down on the number of collisions and that was the word that he used collisions. Because the punt return has a lot of collisions in the kick off. I don't know what the percentages are of kicks returned but they're trying to eradicate that they're trying to if you said it went down to zero returns. I think the NFL would be happy. But now you have the onside kick. There's no run up because they want to cut down on collisions. Therefore very little success in an onside kick. Now they're talking about a team would keep the ball after a scored. Instead of the onside kick they would have to convert a fourth and fifteen from their own twenty five yard line and if they don't the opposition gets the ball and obviously you're in the red zone there you can kick a field goal at worst. We'll see how the owners vote. I'd have no Intel on this and I have not had anybody say. Hey this is going to pass. I told Sky Judge makes a Lotta Sense. I don't know where everybody's might be gimmicky to people and the owners. I don't know that but the rule change would allow a team to do this only twice a game that would give you know the competing team a chance to attempt to retain possession without going through the motions of the onside kick which is what the NFL wants. I don't know if it's going to turn into a mess. They're also getting rid of the review of the pass interference place which I didn't want in the first place the NFL's done a good job this off season when you think about it. Full speed ahead going to have the draft alert virtual draft week. Still pull it off. We're going to release the schedule. All right no worries here. Just kind of ease along here. May maybe we start to season a little bit later. Maybe we don't. We're going get the players in camp You know I talked to somebody in the medical community who works with the NFL. About different ways to construct visors the facemask. How can you have it where there's some protection they're they're they're doing their best? Moving forward here still garnering headlines. But this is what we talk about. We talk about rule changes. We talk about calls every single week that Monday. We're always looking back on something that happened. We've had these changes with the kickoffs. The on side kick is recovered at a rate of around ten percent. The last two seasons including just over seven and a half percent in two thousand eighteen the lowest since such data became available nineteen ninety-two. Well there's a reason for that if there's no run up you can't get a running start here when you kick the ball ten yards and this was in the the xfl where or the Alliance of American football you know they. They were trying to do something like this. In that season the short-lived season the ball was placed at a teams twenty eight yard line for a fourth in twelve attempt. The broncos brought this up that concept has been out there for a little over a year. The broncos presented a variation off of this. But I think that's based off the xfl because the Bronco said put it at the thirty five yard line teams proposed rule. So you'll see this where the eagles propose this rule. The Patriots proposed this rule. This was something the broncos had now. It looks like they're going to back up the ball to the twenty five yard line and it's likely to be approved. Looks like it's more than likely to be approved. It feels gimmicky to me. But it's weird hell receptive IAM to anything right now like if you said hey is coming back. And they're gonNA have this like yeah. I don't care yeah whatever. Do whatever you want to do. Just bring football now. Once the season start it'll be like who came up with this stupid rule. But if you have this I'd be curious what some of the players are thinking about with this but coaches. You know offense minded coach defensive minded coach. What would they be thinking about this? But getting rid of the kickoff right now in twenty ten there were two thousand. Thirty three kickoff returns league-wide in one thousand nine hundred nine. There were nine hundred and thirty. These were kicks returned all. Read that to you. One More Time in the year twenty ten there were just over. Two thousand kickoff returns league-wide this past season. Same Number Games. There were nine hundred and thirty. If they could take this down to five hundred four hundred they would be thrilled. You want to have a kickoff to start the game instead of an. I still maintain that one of these days. They're know there's there's going to be the twenty five yard line you to start on the twenty five yard line. I'd like a kickoff. I don't WanNA touch back in. That's what when you think about it. How many times do you go kick off? We used to get excited about this. Because there were guys who made careers out of being a great kickoff? Return Them Now. Odds Arts touchback taking it out of the equation you know. Think about some of these guys who were great at doing this kickoff returns Devin Hester is probably a hall of Famer because of the kickoff wasn't a great every down player wide receiver. I don't know where he stands with the hall of fame but as far as return men he became a household name because of that return one in the Super Bowl. But that's where we're headed and I don't know if people are going to like it. You might like it because it is interesting you know. We're we're adding more excitement to the game. I don't know if we need to add more excitement to the game. It feels like we're doing well with the game. We've opened it up. So offense is to do whatever they WANNA do. That's what we wanted. You want more scoring in there that for gamblers for Fantasy Leagues. You wanted that you got it now. I don't know where it's headed after that with other rule changes sky judge. I'm fine if it helps the officials on the field. I'm fine with that because there are times when those officials don't want to intercede in go. Hey you made a mistake there. I still go back to that. Was the biggest mistake with the rams and the saints game was you had an all-star crew of officials if you had the regular officials in the team that they have every single week those guys would have trusted somebody who had their back. Nobody's going to embarrass anybody here. There's no egos involved because that was blatantly obvious and that's where somebody comes in and says. Hey Tom you missed it. I did now. That Sky Judge is going to be able to say guys. Let's huddle up here. We made a mistake here. And so I'm good with that. The fourth in fifteen from the twenty five. I sure mine. I'm not in an argumentative mood today. I'm good I am. I am good going into Memorial Day weekend. Feeling good yes mclovin. Okay ruin it for you know and to work okay. Patch interference what happens up fourth and fifteen when a cornerback grabs a guy like they do seventy five percent of the time and it's going be pass interference in the that's how the plays gonNA convert. I mean that would be. I would say almost more likely than it's A. Pi than a catch. Okay so well. Is it pass interference. Well every play is pass interference when you watch the NFL. It's just a matter of cornerback and wide receivers jostle. It's GonNa show many controversial pass. Interference calls on this play that to the officials whether calling pass interference or not. Yes he the way. The rules are going now. If there's pass interference on fourth down what they'll do is they're gonNA take the ball. Give I down on the other twenty five and you only get three nouns four points and then that's the new rule. Yes todd I hate the rule. Let's it's beyond gimmicky. It's way too easy to convert a fourth and fifteen compared to trying to get an onside kick and who cares if the penalty is the risk is the other team gets at twenty five away usually when that's done late in the fourth quarter you've lost if you don't pick up the onsite kicks who cares if twenty five away or the other teams one yard away. You didn't get the onside kick so games done when they do it. No final minute or two desperately to get the ball. I just don't know if we need more excitement. I don't know the last time somebody said you know the NFL's is just not that exciting. I know that we can't use the onside kick. I know that they wanNA take that out. You know and now you can't. It's hard to convert it in the first place. Because I have no run up. I have to wait until the ball is kicked. Hope it ricochets off somebody and then I'm able to recover it. They just WANNA take. I'm waiting for them to take out the punt because the punt is violent. I think the punch is more violent than the kickoff because it feels like there are a lot of open targets. They're on the punt. Return not necessarily the kickoff if you look at the blocking you know how it kind of Unfolds in front of you? I don't think you had the same collisions you deal with a punt and you get those hits where somebody's not seeing coming. There's more violence on a punt. But they can't take that out but the kickoff yeah they would love to say goodbye to that and the onside kick mclovin. Got A poll question. Well it depends you WANNA go. Nfl rules or we have some Tiger Phil questions to Paulie is hot on a couple things at if our rules back college rules. If you'RE GONNA put rule changes I'll let Paulie pitch them real quick. Okay if you want to increase the excitement and a chance for comebacks in the NFL. There's a couple of things you can do. You can make it one foot for catches one foot in for catches that means you're gonNA have much more offense in the NFL. It'd be just like it is in college. Let me save it here. Because see web is zooming in now so let me take a break to be fair to him with his schedule. And then we'll talk a little bit more about this phone calls more than welcome.

"Family now pardon me for NBA be a on T. N. T. analyst five time. NBA All Star and one of my favorite people and guests to see you again. Chris Webber here in the flesh is now you were saying you're here in L. A. Because as you're heading up the coast to go you're doing a preseason game on turnarounds. Ma Is MARV doing well. It's more of I thought you have more pooling this you know the NBA. He's like no Chris we have to go Rina's going to be so beautiful so I'm really looking forward to and you know. The main thing I want to see is how translates with fans one thing. I think that you know you go to a lot of arenas but maybe the average fan doesn't get because they give give athletes so much is that when you change new arenas a lot of times the feeling arena changes I remember when the palace was first built and everybody in Detroit. It was like all these car company guys people not from Detroit suits and it was like a tea party of the game it was terrible it was it was terrible and you hear the Pistons talk about the players talk about and you had to bring that kind of hard hat detroit city field back and I wonder not so much for the rate is when they go to Vegas. I think that that'll stay consistent but Oakland is a beautiful place and a unique city. Yes and part of Golden State winning manning was the heart you know when Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes all of them had that we believe team. I wasn't surprised because they first of all those guys but they also take on the temperament of the city and that's a cool sitting so I hope that it doesn't get you know Sushi eaters and be quiet and just at the game it does happen. You know something I know. I remember growing up in New York. Watching the Knicks in Huby Brown Bernard King was my favorite I love going to the playoffs taken in on Isaiah and the Pistons and Kelly Trump Yuka in the Gel Jonas Green and then it was like a it was a total gym where I felt like the Knicks had no shot to win and then the palace of Auburn Hills opened so I'm wondering if you're saying that the that it became a little bit softer did the Pistons make up for it themselves by sending lamb beer and born on the yeah exactly it was like we had the palace but bad boys in regarding a couple of fights in so the Lakers are playing in this game. I never going to be pretty good this case and I'll let me get to that before we get to some other things going on with you. Last year you came here and you're like Lakers aren't a playoff team and the whole world killing that is correct except the people who went to Vegas they surveys and and and I think Charles might have been with you in that regard to because he was concerned about Lebron getting all these flights on the wet from the in the western conference that he didn't have to do in the eastern conference but you were you were definitely the the leader of charge what about this year but he think I know it's might be a little too early but what do you think for yes well anytime you got Lebron. I love that you're ahead of the game and so he and Anthony Davis I think is going to be I think gonNA be some special. I I still think Dwight Howard how is probably the most disrespected player of our generation and maybe he's earned someone that but averaging a double double what he's done guys getting hundred million dollar contracts for that now now based on potential. I love their bench. I love guys that have coming off the bench. I still think they need some deadly. Knockdown shooter was your issue with them last year that they didn't if you play with Lebron you're GonNa all you gotTa do is just be ready to shoot. That's why I think that Westbrook to Change Subjects Gore. He's going to have a heck of a career if I was westbrook odd God. I'd say I'm not gonNA average any points. I'm going to average thirty assist. I'M NOT GONNA shoot it. All y'all been crying about me shooting that you hate me. You hate my best friend. Harding both y'all GonNa hate us is now because we're GONNA win. That's an exciting story laughing me to follow as well all year the of course the Lakers the clippers and and come on Oh man I think Houston has something to prove avid chip on his shoulder from Dantonio too too hard and who I think is right about the narratives of MVP's and things and maybe we gift MVP's before the season starts that I've never been this excited about a basketball season. If if I didn't play never in my career and so it's some good things going on in and see web the the I guess trio that nobody really talks about because we are focused on the teams that you mentioned you got Utah. You Got Denver. You've got Portland Damian Lillard who that when he was waving bye Bye Paul George he was waving bye bye to the Paul George Russell Westbrook era with that his way from bye bye okay sees history three basically we waved goodbye to all of that from half court pretty you know those three. which ones do you think are? I have a shot that I think all all of them are in. I I think San Antonio is in think we're all sleeping on San Antonio because they wanted the best players hurt so I think there are seven teams in the playoffs right now and everybody else is fighting waiting for the eighth spot. What about the idea of a sleeper team being the Golden State Warriors Chris Webber? I Love I love seeing stephanus position. Steph is a fighter and we forget because he has the baby face. We forget how cold blooded he is and I love seeing him with his back against the walkers. He's going to have some of his best basketball aw ever but you know he's GonNa you know when he's proven everybody's wrong. He's talking about me too because you know no no clay no splash brothers. I don't see how you I don't see how you could do it and and one thing I do understand is that when teams are vulnerable is payback time and all those other teams those younger teams. I mean they're are going to build their season offer. Getting you know trying to get that one win on the co- Tuesday night in January when they're coming off a back tobacco every game is gonNA mean so much for their opponent. 'cause it's going to be interesting to see how how go stay Hannah's the other side of the coin and before we move on what about the East we've hardly even said a word. We haven't said a word about the east. I'm excited to see Kimbe Kimbe in in in Boston. I don't know why because he's been kind of an underrated player we think only he can score and things like that. I wanted to high fits in. I I WANNA see Brad Stevens step up what is communication but I heard that. Mb lost fifteen pounds if he did that. That's going to be scary. Philly looks really good and you know what is Toronto GonNa do. I heard they're saying that they're going to defend their title. As gifts does to say you need to see it before you the Mike Tyson everybody has a plan okay. What about Atlanta we sleeping on the hawks? What do you think there's a Lotta people? It is a bandwagon that seems to be filling up quite a bit with the whole always a bandwagon for the hawks. That's about we'll leave it there. I love trae. I Love I love him and I think he's proved a lot of people wrong. Love the excitement of the arena. I love management sell out the Grant Hill but I think they need a few more players before you can really get excited about them. Chris Webber here on the rich Eisen Eisen show. Let's get to this now. I heard you have an announcement to make. Is that a true story. Yeah we'll part of the reason I'm here riches would finish up the the the PR of the book work in putting some things together and so you're on my I've been working on autobiography. I think up talked or mentioned it a few times but for the last eight and a half years and and so for me to finally say this done and you can pre-order it will be here for Christmas or something is something pretty cool and I'm proud out to say that that I finished I wrote every word over the past few years I've been offered some generous generous deals by publications but publishing companies that type of thing to tell my story and it was a situation where finally already we've had enough time I've had children I've been able to retire have been able to sit back and just look back in the name of the book is by God's grace and I'm just looking back really thankful that through all everything I've been through he sustaining he sustained my family's put wonderful people around around me. I was blessed with children and so it just really is looking back in San wow it's it's been wonderful right. It's been a tough ride at times but at at the end of the day God has been there for me and hopefully it inspires others and for me really was therapeutic now something fun to give to the people the from our kids and to continue having fun in the sports world it so people can pre-order it right now. People can preorder right now Amazon Song anywhere you can buy a book and is there date by November November. I'm sorry December eighteenth it will be in stores right before Christmas but you can pre-order it right now and we'll be spreading the gospel of the book for the next two months two and a half months but again very excited as much more than basketball but I do get into basketball and ah do talk about everything from being going to Michigan being recruited by Bill Frieder at my very first high school game. I talk about Ed Martin in in Jalen talk about growing up with parents. was a teacher. My father mechanic worked in auto industry over thirty years and so this year we celebrated my parents forty eight where anniversary and just being there with all the love kids the family owed a coach's family was just our family celebrates all the time with friends and that's that's what this book is this book of It's a book definitely want a celebration is one of the ungrateful one of thanking the people that were there for me and then just looking back and saying well I had a blast and hope for this inspire some people that in the midst of their journey that are going through tough things to kind of focus get right into no better times ahead Chris Webber here on the rich Eisen show when you say therapeutic. What was the most therapeutic for you here Chris? That's a good question. One of the things that I learnt while riding this book was there's version of Bible talks about forgiving seven times seven times seven so always used to think that the forgiveness this meant rich is always going to be late so if I have thousand parties forgive him for coming over late forgive him and it's not that it's a or or what I learned. Is it something different and going through this book you know a allow the book concentrates on when I was twelve thirteen years old when in your first meeting people when you're being recruited or groomed by certain people and so when you go through certain things and you've forgiven them at that time. Let's say thirty years ago while I'm remembering what happened going over what happened and then you look at it from a more mature standpoint say wait a minute. You really knew that I was twelve years old and things that you were saying we're manipulative. You really put your claws in with words like family loyalty those type of things these people were trying to to return to school trying to keep a job trying to get you to say hi to another recruit would get them on the recruiting so many so many things that you really didn't know the situation. Was You just knew everything wasn't sincere and so I had to forgive them again so even if you forgive when you get drafted everything's great I forgive you will now. I'm forty five out to say wow that was really screwed up. You did that again and you know I forgive you and and in the same tone ask for forgiveness and in the same town ask God for forgiveness because at times you didn't celebrate or enjoy things as you should have because you're so focused on what was going on at the time and so so for me. It was just really it just really allow me to look back at my career to be thankful but also to take a deep breath and to really appreciate all the things that I've conference when you're in sports you know the rule is if you win on Wednesday you can have Wednesday night but Thursday morning even if the Games until Saturday vic put that out your hair so you'll never in the place of just constant being grateful and that's especially since I retired the mind frame that I've been in and hopefully this book allows me to show people how great but also inspire them through the top the Ed Martin you mentioned him. He's the individual with whom you're entanglements caused you to break with Michigan and vice versa yes how. How deep do you get into details here? I mean again. I take full responsibility for this book. So I write everything you know. One of the tough things rich was that say if I went on the show and someone wanted to talk about right we will get four or five minutes or whatever good time for TV but it's so much deeper and you.

"To something's going to drop today and and I'm looking forward to that. I'm here. I love if I love when SIU stops by. I think he's one of the best broadcasters that's that's out there. I love the guy and on top of all of it on top off of all of that the NBA season is tipping off in in less than three weeks. We're back indeed so we'll talk about that with with CRISP CRISP Weber not one but two football players would swagger tired matthew of your Kansas City chiefs they are undefeated taken on the colts on Sunday night football on week number find that kicks off tomorrow night in the division that he used to play in in the NFC west between the rams and the seahawks now tired Matthew with the chiefs he'll be joining us in the middle of art show after the man of the Hour Jacksonville Florida from Duval County by way of Mississippi and East Carolina and Washington State quarterback. What about Gardner Minhsiu Gardner Mints You everybody I was all in on him minute ago he had me at Hello Gardner Men's shoe you lots to talk about with him trying to hammer his own hand into pieces to try and get extra time and co with a medical redshirt in college to apparently stretching pre-game in just a jockstrap to strolling off a plane looking like Austin Powers Mike Leach I mean there's so much going oh by the way he's got the Jaguars at two and two after he steps on a field they were all in one he stepped on on a field the middle in the middle of the first week thrown in action? Hey Gardner guess what this whole. Nick foles thing that we're talking about. Get out there start playing football against the Kansas City chiefs chiefs. YOU'RE A B. Then you gotta go to Houston almost won that game wound up an inch shy of a two point conversion giving the Jaguars hardly any time left and then when two games in a row short week Hong game against the titans big must have at all and two division game and then go the mile high take care of that after being down seventeen three gardner meant you top of hour number two and the head coach of the now number two ranked team in the country. That's what happens when you win. Close Games in your Clemson Dabo swinney will join us and dabble tire and Matthew and for sure Chris Webber. I'm sure we'll have different takes or opposing takes or maybe the same takes or for sure. Interesting takes on what's happened here in the state of California over the last forty eight hours which is the governor of the State of California signing into law the California Fair pay pay to play act in which collegiate athletes can hire agents for endorsement purposes to make money off their name likeness and image stay tuned for all of that at eight four four two four rich number to dial now then as we all know October's underway and the first couple as of October in my life happy birthday dad. My Dad is a cheering is having a birthday today I self given given Joel is shout out. He's always out there watching everyday. He's definitely on. I and I and I won't say age but I will say he raises is the median age of Biard live users every day taking in this show but here on the second second day of October that means we've playoff baseball underway right yeah buddy and it did not take long it did not take long for us to have reintroduced us the intensity of playoff baseball and the difference is we say all the time said he yesterday May I your favorite team gives up a leadoff it off walk to start the third inning. You're like okay what what's going on. Whatever who's tweeting out what I don't know? Let me check instagram or you're focused on the game but you're just not thinking that the sky's falling that happens on October I not only the game season's over and it doesn't matter how many more games aims are might be left in your series do it in a one and done game oh my gosh and Max Sherzer gives up three runs and the nats have advanced in a playoff series or anybody from Washington in DC in baseball events that playoff series since you know just after the League of nations was formed. I'm not exaggerating and you've got three runs put on aboard by a red hot team that finished winning thirteen of fifteen after their MVP candidate fouls a ball off his own knee and breaks it in Christian Yelich that team is on fire and puts up a three spot on your ace. I mean the the mood in in in in in that park last night was dour to say the least and then he josh hater strolls out of the pen okay think game over and I'm thinking like okay they're gonna go full Rivera with the six outs from him and that'll be a rap and that's it but the baseball gods sometimes have different thoughts as again Washington baseball bowl fans know now then a controversial hit batsman that looked like the ball on further review view actually hit the bat and don't take your base after further review they decide. It's a hit batsman. Even though on further review the ball takes an odd hit off of the Knob of the back into the hand into the the body but he still takes his base which again I will say this. This is one of the many windmills I've been tilting against. This is one of the many arguments I've been pounding the table for. I hate the shift with a passion but the one thing I did test just as much in this era of instant replay is the fact that Major League baseball does does not require or the umpires steadfastly refuse to announced to the crowd what they have seen on replay football ball does it we know hockey has the refs go out there and make an announcement of what they've just seen into replay and it's great because sometimes they got the Canadian mating accents and it's fun. I have no it. Did it standards call. Did they say that they could not see the ball may be hitting the bat. Did they say it was confirmed. Is there a rule that if the ball appears to hit the bat and your hand at the same time at the Thai goes to the body there's a whole bunch of people out there at in whole and homes across America that you're trying to lure in here with the beauty of playoff baseball make it easy make it understandable that said this is the beauty of playoff baseball with all all do respect with all due respect to Milwaukee brewers fans in the same way I in a way that you know football all anything had happened. Bouncing Ball can happen right Chris where where you know weirdly shaped ball and enroll anyway but he could alte- anyway somebody could bat tip it up in the air all that business but the ball is in the hand of the offensive player right and his directed another person or at least intended intended to in a way that a basketball could bounce any which way ask a Philadelphia Seventy sixers fan as we heard heard thanks to Jeff Walker's amazing sound work in game seven of the NBA Championship unshipped semifinal of the Eastern Conference in Toronto Balkan bouncing the rim four terms and going right through but at least the ball was in the hands of the offensive player Kawhi Leonard directed at the WHO this is what I love about baseball the ball comes from the hands of the defense and can be sent in any possible direction with a swing of the bat it can go anywhere anywhere holy random as to where the ball goes until the baseball gods put their thumb on the scale and the ball last night off the bat of Juan Soto lefty on lefty by the way gets ripped into right light field and finds a twenty two year old rookie Trent Grisham who overruns a ball that appears to be taking a a strange hop because he's so far back to prevent any extra basit from clearing the bases which this mere single did because Grisham made a mistake in right field where Christian Yelich would have been ending a remarkable run that the brewers commendably put together after yellowish went out on September tenth breath go make that up that's playoff baseball and the baseball gods can be so cruel or you're gifting as washed nationals fans who are so thrilled to see a three spot put up often the eighth now. They're coming to Los Angeles to take on the dodgers and the brewers you put it out there Chris last night. If you ask a brewers fan. Would you rather not make it at all or would you rather win thirteen out of your last fifteen when nobody expects it because your MVP is out for the year with a knee injury in a freak accident friendly at-bat fire fell okay and would you rather your team eighteen go thirteen and to put yourself in the playoffs threatened to win the division even only to be on the wrong side of a one and done loss in the manner of being the second loser in Major League Baseball history to be eliminated from the postseason with the go ahead run scoring on an error in the eighth inning or later the cruelty and again the kid who who did it twenty two years old he was despondent. You have that sound bite. Mike del Tufo trank Grisham after the game despondent hip sing along time essentially giving a guy given the nationals divisional birth. I mean it's GonNa hurt. I expected to kind of debriefing going off season. I'm sorry that was Craig Counsel. That was the manager but anyway Trent Grisham after the game name said that he gifted the divisional series berth to Washington and to that I will just say this okay. I'll just say this. The game was going to be talked if he fielded that ball games tied God. You have no idea what's going to happen that none zero and you don't know if you know fourteenth inning. Give it up whatever even if you feel that it cleanly early they could have given it up the next at bat next inning later on in the night so he should just take some solace. It's unfortunate the ball found him but that's what happens can't make it up man. Would you rather Chris not make it at all. I think so finish up uh hold on finish up and say this disrespect your Red Sox the way they finished up playing out the string you know yeah 'cause you suffer yet. An injury suffered by your ace ace starter right and at that point it was kind of a wrap divers finished up really strong but you know in both agree but you can focus on other things this way by making the postseason..

"So those are dream on complete comments about the situation. He and Kevin spoke and he supports Kevin. He supports anybody. Whatever decision. It is that that individual wants to make we've had great years together. And we don't know how this particular season is going to end up. But I like the point that I think it was Chris Webber part of the broadcast made that in a system where it's more ISO ball. You could see that this might become an issue for them on the court. So who knows what's happening behind the scenes or how long it takes Katie to get over this. I mean, if it was made probably take me some time to get over it. I believe in forgiveness one hundred percent. But I also know that feelings get hurt. And when you say things like Draymond said, you can't take them back. You can apologize for them. And over time. That wound can heal. But these guys are like brothers. They're together all the time. And for Draymond to say the things that he did to Kevin Durant. There's no way that Katy just forgets it because that's not human nature. We don't do that forgive. And forget is such a cliche over time. You can let it go. But when it's a real, it's a real painful, betrayal, something like this. It takes time. And there hasn't been nearly as much time as they need K D needs. But Dray is honest, right. He says my emotions often get the best to me, but more often than not they steer me. Right. They steer me correctly. I mean, he has the heart and soul of the team. So we'll see how this affects them if it does moving forward. But I appreciate what Chris Webber said on the broadcast on TNT about how their system forces them to play together because it's it's predicated on touches it's predicated on getting everyone involved. It's a system where if you are playing ice. Oh ball you? Stick out like a sore. Thumb which means that if one of these guys is being selfish. Rush and refusing to pass to the other because they're ticked off at one another off the court. Well, then it stands out. It's it's not possible to do and be successful in this system. So that was kind of an interesting point that Chris Webber made as for Steve Kerr post game. He's a little bit more philosophical than Draymond green about what's going on with the team right now. Physically.

Look out college hoops: Duke is just getting started

"College basketball regular season, which many people ignore is now interesting look at this Duke team and then the tournament because it's one and done increases the odds, they may get upset. This is great for college basketball. And the reason I think they can go undefeated potentially. It's very very early. And then win the whole thing. Guys. What why couldn't UNLV do it because Duke head coach K why couldn't the fab five win the whole thing? Well, we know why that was a different story. Okay. Fine. But still coach Kane got in the way of a lot of teams net. And now he's playing in the one in done sandbox. Right. He's like, okay. Everyone else you're playing now. I'm playing one in done. But these one in Duns are being coached by coach Kane, they have a chance it's ridiculously early. They have a chance to do. What hasn't been done in a long time? A couple of things number one. Let's not act every time. We talk about the fab five not winning the national championship. Everybody points to the time out that wasn't a time out. Chris webber? Let's remember that the year before that they got a nine late about thirty by UNLV. I'm sorry about Duke. Right. So this remember that that's double one number two. Everybody's talking about shooting. I don't see a team that can't shoot Zion could hit perimeter shots. Barrett can hit perimeter shots can reddish can shoot. Okay. And there is something to be said, remember we're talking about kids. We're not talking about an NBA team. We're talking about kids. And if ever there are individuals that could be demoralized is on a basketball court see with football, you have so many you have so many different components on on a basketball court. If you got one superstar that can intimidate a team if you got to it could overwhelm a nation and college basketball if you got three. Hopeless

"Continental tire proud supporter of the Dan. Patrick show, Chris Webber will join us. We'll talk about LeBron Thome opener. I know people are going to have a problem with LeBron grabbing Chris Paul during the melee with Rajon Rondo Brandon Ingram. That's his best friend. He he, you know, he's barely knows Rajon Rondo but I know that some Laker fans were saying, you know why wouldn't O'Brien glow for there and protect Rajon Rondo. I didn't have that bigger problem in branches San had Chris, Paul come on Chris. It feels like LeBron could say something to Chris Paul to get him out of something like that is how I viewed it, but the Lakers. Oh. See, they're not going to win a game this year. Apparently. What is wrong with the Lakers question Mark? Yes, fritzy well, you're kind of protecting Rondo to by pulling Paul away and he's not going against your your team made these pumping break up the fight, and he's going to his instinct is to take care of his buddy and make sure he's out of harm's wing Jordan. When it never let somebody spent Chris Paul, but everybody always they're gonna make a big deal about LeBron no matter what he does. You know if he had gone to Rondo all Chris, Paul is your buddy so it didn't matter how about the bigger picture. They lost again. But we'll talk to see web about that are at eight, seven, seven, three DP show Email address GPS Dan, Patrick dot com. Couple of best and worst to the weekends, Tim Jacksonville. "And what about what are they going to say like now, what pressure did you all? Cat? Like what pressure did you put a weeks and don't get me wrong at the end of the day, if I'm a Minnesota fan and Butler trade it, maybe he helped our team more than any coats any GM anyone could because what he said about these guys is gonna linked with them their whole career until they disprove it. And so maybe this is the fire that you need to start it under them, but you can't have that guy around all the time after you started fire, Chris, Chris, wherever here on the rich Eisen show Sarthe on your done. Chris Webber here on the rich Eisen show. You're making your way to Portland that's going to be a heck of a moment when obviously they remember Paul Allen before that game, and then it's going to be LeBron coming out in a Lakers uniform. What is the realistic expectation? Do you think for LeBron his first year with the Lakers Chris Webber. Well, this is, you know, I think the only one that agrees with me is Charles Barkley. So I I know he's right a lot, but then again, he's been ethically wrong. I don't know. But this is my thing and I just hope fans really understands. So let me start by saying if the Lakers make the playoffs. No one will appreciate how great LeBron is. This will be one of his best accomplishments because this is the west coast, asking him to win twenty more games in the conference where teams are so good veteran teams, and he had the team of newcomers this first year we saw that he couldn't win a championship in Miami's first. How hard is that? Once you get guys together? We've seen that with a lot of different teams, but yes, he makes his players better. Yes. He's one of the smartest players when the greatest players ever. The plays gonna energize that community, but I still see their move being next year because I just have a couple of questions beside him who's gonna shoot three pointers. I guess heart right? I it's definitely not Lonzo off the top of my head. It's not Rondo down Don't there. go down three. We teeny Bryan who's going to shoot three pointer right. That's all I wanna know. 'cause McCann fill it up. I mean, well. The second year. Powerful. Okay. I'm just throwing these names out. I'm with you. I'm just, you know, that's not the same Batty cow Corvers you know, big Mike Miller's, you know, guys hit eight eight in the finals of Ray island. I'm just saying that with talent specific kind of with this team that they have now, and I like the players that they have. It doesn't seem that they have the skill sets to win in the west. And of course you know, Pelinka's my man and magic. My man shown they probably will make trades and help the team. But as a team stands today before their first game, I do not see how they're gonna make the playoffs in the rough west with a new team. And I just don't think they have the shooters I think is too many ball handlers and not not even the eighth and final playoff spot with LeBron. I mean, that would be based on last year standings. The Lakers would have to be plus twelve plus twelve in the win column to get to the eighth and final playoff spot. If everything from last year is this year and based on based on that, then Denver who lost by one game who I think is going to be a top four team. You gotta give them ten more. You gotta take senatorial into consideration. So I do think there's a chance injuries and things like that. But you know, when you go to Denver app and then on Wednesday in Portland on a Thursday, those back, the backs q., but there's more traveling on the west coast as I'm sure many people in the stand. You know, when you're traveling to go from Toronto, the Cleveland hour and half hour flight, you go to Texas after LA game. That's three and a half hours. You know, it's just it's just all the little in tangible along with teammate and along with guys that the Brian being the best penetrator in the game, getting to the lanes getting double and triple teams when he kicks it out, still got knock the shot..

Louis C.K.'s controversial Comedy Cellar comeback attempt

"Remembers that in the era of me too. It was revealed that Louis c. k. had forced surprising number of young female stand up comics to watch a masturbate that resulted in the cancellation of his show, and he was under a rock until last week. We showed up at the comedy cellar in New York for a set the comedian slash confirmed sexual assaulter performed, obviously copy and paste this from somewhere. Yeah, the comedian slash confirmed sexual assaulter perform set a set and club owner. Noam doorman told the New York. Times that quote, it sounded just like he was trying to work out some new material. Almost like anytime of the last ten years he would come in at the beginning of a new act. CK made no mention of his sexual abuse against women in a set. He was reportedly received warmly both before.

Randy Moss rode big-play ability all the way to Hall of Fame

"Randy moss is a, I first bottle hall of fame. My colleague here is very proud of him. He deserves it out of voter him in the first ballot hall of fame as well. But if we're going to use the criteria to keep te'o Al. How do we justify doing that for Randy moss who literally admitted he played when he wanted to. Te'o played heart all the time. There were times and Oakland. Randy moss admitted. He took off. Because he was frustrated, played hard in England played hard in Minnesota. Wasn't the case in Oakland. What about that. See. That kind of up and down mood econo- stuff has no place in voting when it comes to the hall of fame. Your level of production matters. For example, there are people who say, Chris Weber's a hall of Famer in the NBA look at his numbers. I would say to you is damn show a hall of fame if we talk and fat five. But we talk an MBA career yet a numbers might be, you know what? I remember. I remember ready for this new knowing cat. I remember how to basketball was a hot potato for him when they were in the Western Conference finals against the Lakers and he couldn't give that ball up to Mike Bibby soon enough. That's what I remember. Reggie Miller never went to an NBA finals, but dad brother always wanted to ball. That's not what I saw over Chris Webber. It's not what I do. Numbers watch Shoygu deserves. It still was short deserves. It. What he accomplished in college Shoygu deserves. That's too many moments. When the franchise face the star of the team on the NBA level, not college basketball, NPA level one, no parts that basketball and thank God. He had Mike Bibby and pages to yackobitz and to a lesser degree Vladivostok. I remember. Would the dog Christie's in the world. I remember. So those kind of things that I'm talking about. Got to be about production. It can't be about emotion. And that's why support te'o in that it eight say ESPN. It's inundate seven to nine, three, seven, seven, six thing I want to touch on real quick before the calls is this new NFL rule where you're getting penalized, teen, y'all penalty of for leading with your helmet. I got no problem with it. If you're talking about avoiding launching your head and being like a missile. But I saw the the the penalty call last night by fichus were guys extending the on and trying to lead in it with their shoulder, but ended up their head. You know, the the head ended up touching the body. I something you know what the problem with that is, do y'all know that the hit the Anthony ball put on my man, Aaron Rodgers last year? Do you know that would be a penalty? That is utterly ridiculous. There is nothing illegal or de legitimate about that hit. That is preposterous. Absolutely. No place for it. And I'm here to tell you. Here. The biggest reason why Yasha hate this rule. It's going to delay the game more. Gonna late, the late the game more. As if we don't have enough time spent with the game being delayed because all of these damn penalties. Understanding trying to make the game safer, but dammit, there's a risk that comes with it either planet or you're not. I think the NFL's got this wrong. Aides say he has been seven to nine, three, seven, seven, six to the phones. We go trae you live, Stephen, what's going on with your even. Good. Thank you..
