I'm a kid, but chief Robert Conti says video shows the first shot Lewis fired wasn't at Blake. It appears that the first shot was fired actually at a getaway vehicle. Conti says that shot unravel the chain of events as caron Blake was running toward the vehicle before the shot, and then changed directions, sprinting toward Lewis. It's hard to say. I mean, obviously I don't know if he knew that mister Lewis was standing where he was standing. Or that he was armed. Meghan clarity, WTO news. Lewis attorney says that his client maintains his innocence, a judge has ordered him held without bond until his next hearing. Meantime, WTO's Mike Morello hears from a member of the boy's family who's been calling for the arrest since the shooting happened. Sean long of northeast D.C. is Blake's grandfather, and those thank you, he says are for police and the mayor and others who helped bring about an arrest in this case, long says even though his grandson is accused of breaking into cars with others that night. Long says when Blake yelled, I'm sorry and I'm a kid to Louis. That man should have just went on to say, okay, get your get away from me. I don't call our grab them. Of northwestern medicine immediate care says many people think if they have a heavy winter coat, that's enough to protect them during extreme winter weather. She says it's also important to dress in layers of loose fitting clothing. That will allow the heat to just kind of stay as close to your body and for you just to keep your body temperature higher. So if you have multiple layers that generally helps a bit better. Doctor Addison says it's also important to cover as much of your skin as possible to reduce the risk of frostbite, as well as to keep out moisture that can make skin freeze more quickly. She says, even if you are properly dressed, it's still a good idea to spend as little time outdoors as possible during extreme cold. Comments as it's getting crews and equipment ready in case the winter storm causes any power outages, the utility company is not just concerned about heavy snow and ice, but also the high winds that could bring down power lines, a statement says police fire stations and hospitals will get priority for restoration if there is an outage. Police say a man is dead after being hit by a stray bullet last night, reports indicate the 50 year old man was sitting in a car on the 2900 block of Redfield drive at marquette park on the south side. That, according to a CBS News battleground tracker poll just out, while they're still in a very good position to capture a House majority, that majority looks narrower today than it ever has. Two thirds of voters polled feel their rights and freedoms are very much at stake in the upcoming midterm elections. Russia is currently backing referendums and for Ukrainian territories, where residents are asked whether or not they want to be a part of Russia. But their Ukrainian and the option that they likely would have chosen is not on the referendum. Sarah Wilson soki is an associate Professor of political science at the University of Colorado Boulder. Notably, there appears to be a lack of an option to stay part of the Ukrainian state on this referendum. South Korea's military has detected North Korea's first ballistic missile test since June. The launch is drawing added attention due to its timing when it comes to U.S. forces that are nearby. Reporter Alex Jensen is in Seoul. North Korea tested a short range ballistic missile Sunday morning here, the first such launch since the north passed a law, paving the way for preemptive nuclear strikes if it fails threatened. The timing is drawing attention because the nuclear powered aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan, just arrived in South Korea for joint drills while vice president Harris is also due to visit soul this week. Okay we are in the home stretch here. So let's go ahead and push on through to our mid watch segment in our episode from a couple of weeks ago. We named the two athletes who focusing on in the fall and they were. Avery stole from the volleyball. Team and ashwin briggs from the Men's cross country team. We heard how the volleyball team finished up their non conference schedule and i think they've been really battle-tested as they get ready to start their patriot league scheduled this upcoming weekend. Every still has been a consistent performer over the first nine matches. She is second on the team and killed seventy six which puts her three behind team leader. Jamie llewellyn stole is also second on the team in points with ninety two and a half entitled third in service aces with six on defense as senior from your belinda. California is also one of the keys to the team's success. She ranks third and blocked with nineteen and she's also got thirty digs which is good for second among navies hitters. So as you can see still is right up there with the team leaders. In some pretty critical offensive and defensive categories that patriot league scheduled will be tough and having someone like her out there on. The court is got to be pretty reassuring. I always hear that term glue guy in sports these days. And that's kinda how i view her. She's definitely one of those players that helps keep a team together. And by the way. When i'm in annapolis over the columbus day weekend the meds will be playing two matches at wesley brownfield house and i plan to be there at both of them so i'm really looking forward to seeing them in action and i hope i get some pretty good photos to because i'm bringing my camera okay. Now what's going on with ashwin briggs from the men's cross country team As we've talked about the team is to a good start. And they won. Those first two meads but briggs did not compete in the first one. Because like i mentioned coach lens l. Went with fifteen freshmen and They pretty much ran away from everyone but in the navy twilight meet I mentioned at the team did sweep the first ten places and briggs did finish eighth. He completed the four point. Nine mile course in twenty minutes and just under fifty two seconds so we'll call it twenty four fifty one point nine five That works out to be a pretty blistering five minute pace. By the way which isn't easy to do over a bunch of rolling terrain that includes some pretty decent hills. Now as team captain briggs will be looking to keep the team focused over the next few weeks as the amidst compete in two more invitationals before that big star. "Hello and wealth manager off. I'm anthony colangelo today. We're gonna talk. About the newest upgrade to the i assess the rollout solar arrays that are in the process of being deployed. He's going to be six different wings deployed on the i The first one is deployed. Now the second one is kinda halfway there given some scheduling that. We will talk about in this. Show the rollout solar ray upgrades the that took some of us. By surprise early in the year it was kind of under the radar for a while and then nasa posted a press release. That said we're flying six new solar rays to the space station this year and they're really really cool pieces of technology. They are as they as the name implies they roll out. So they're all rolled up when they get launched than they get Put in place. And they deploy under some really interesting mechanisms. That require no motors or anything like that. No moving parts just unfurling with its own support structure. So i wanted to talk to a couple. Different people from red wire renoirs accompanied that holds a couple of other companies that you may or may not have heard of maiden space deployable space systems among others those two just pertinent to the conversation today. I we're gonna be talking to matt lapointe. Who is the technical director for the rollout. Solar ray program formerly at deployable space systems. I can still at deployable seat space systems as part of red wire. And then we're gonna talk to andrew rush. You may remember his name because he was on the podcast almost two years ago when he was at the time. The ceo of maiden space maiden space became part of red wire and andrew. Rush moved to be ceo of red wire the parent company. So he's going back on the show to talk about some of the future looking aspects to the rollout solar ray program the There's a lot of missions that are gonna be using this in the near future. And i want to talk a little bit about general strategy because they are the experts with deployable or in space assembly systems in space today. So i wanna talk about you. Yeah we have one of two Down so we're looking forward to friday a wing number two deployment Yeah definitely a lot of buzz and excitement. We can't wait for that. That second wing to be deployed in a surplus power. It was an interesting time. Because i s evs tend to go relatively without any issues and then they're always like oh. We're ahead of schedule. We're doing like nine. Other tests the e v. they had some issues. I think this. I was travelling during the second. Uva was there also some things that were getting worked during the second. Yeah unfortunately shane suit at a couple issues on both will as they also had a little bit trouble with a thermal cover that goes over the hatch so Yeah definitely set us back a little bit on the first day And unfortunately we they ended up having to at at early before they could get through the full installation So yeah you know things happen. It's it's never easy with human spaceflight. It's there's always challenges in and come up in tomorrow and shane. They did an amazing job on these days. Overcame these challenges to make Make that deployment happen so We couldn't be more happy and you know we're hoping thirty. Va everything goes according to plan and no more sued issues of for exactly so. I wanted to talk a little bit about the historical context for the work. That's happening this year because i. I don't think i was unique in this. I was surprised in january when nasa put up this press release that they were upgrading. the solar rays on station. I don't think many people knew about it. Because i sent a lot of surprise from many people in the industry as well that i was talking to about that at the time And i know you had a demo mission back in twenty seventeen of the the smaller scale rollout solar ray that assume lead into the upgrades that are going on station this year. So could you give us some context on on the program overall to this point and how it got to this level of of like now we're going to upgrade six of the eight wings on station. How did that all come about. Yeah yeah definitely so so rosa as a product line we've we've been developing For a little over a decade now we were deployable space systems. Our were are the.
