"I want to go back to Boston. And I want to go back to your first jobs. When you walked into the globe, either as an intern or when you got your first job, what was the reaction from the guys in the newsroom? Because newsrooms are notoriously difficult. Oh, for me, it was like, you know, that was the book heaven is a playground for me, heaven is The Boston Globe sports department. We were, they were the 27 Yankees. Dan, as you know, shaughnessy, and Kevin DuPont and I, where the high school writers, when I first got there, so it was everybody was comfortable and it was a hang. You know, one thing I lament now being around press boxes is that people don't hang. It doesn't seem to be, you know, we'd all go to runions, we'd all go wherever it was and you talk ball and you'd tell funny stories and I don't know. That or maybe exaggerating it in my head, but I don't think so. I don't think so. I remember running is only too well. And also you're right. You do your work. This is what I, again, when I was a kid growing up and I used to pal around with Dan shaughnessy and he would let me tag along and go to games. He loves you, Susie. I hope rich isn't listening. Oh my God, is that a crush on you for like 30 years? Yeah, don't worry, rich isn't listening. Notice she didn't deny it. It was that rich as a listening. Don't worry. He's not listening. He's just going to pull a good he's going to pull a good clip and put it on the rich eisen show and then we're going to move on down the road. So you know, we used to go, we used to go out. He would file his he'd send me to the locker room. I'd get my quotes from Willie mcginest and Chris Slade and Drew Bledsoe who I just thought was dreamy. And then he would file and then we'd go have some drinks. And people would sit down. You couldn't come right down after a game. You know, people had to Keith Hernandez was just telling me this morning how that was part of the problem when that whole culture they were all into the drugs is that you just can't you can't finish a game at 9 30 at night and then just go right to bed. So yeah, for us, it was runions and you could dissect everything that you just seen and people would kick it around. I don't know that. Part of part of the greatness of our jobs is that camaraderie, I think. And that's missing. You're so right. I mean, really, I guess Leslie, we don't have enough to work on together, but that's our next sitcom is that 80s or 70s Boston. I think maybe it would be 90s. Who knows 80s, 80s? Boston sports hangout. It's like cheers again. We've talked about this before, but you're right because it really was a sitcom. PJ Clark was another good place to go and after doing a Yankees. Seems to have been there. You have to say, best Tupac's. And that's one thing like because of our jobs, you know, most people, I was privileged, I wrote John Madden's bus with him. I did all the Madden, some are all games, and John used to say you shouldn't be able to run for president unless you've traveled America by bus. And you know, if John would see light we'd be going through Utah if he'd see lights in a field, we would stop and it might be girls softball or little league baseball, and it was such a, I don't know. Yeah, I guess it was a privilege to ride around and just to hear his comments. I remember once we were on our way to a 49er game and John's looking at the window, you know, buses bouncing along. And John turned back and he said, dark chocolate. I don't get it. It's like they got halfway to milk and quit. Like that was his brain. Who was the most impactful relationship you made in sports? Of course you were there at his party, may I was there at his party because you could because for everyone listening, Leslie had a way of making sure that every woman who came after her in swords was included. And that doesn't happen. A lot. But wait, can I tell the story of the party? Oh God, okay. So John one year, John lived in famously lived in the Dakota, where of course John Lennon had been shot and Leonard Bernstein Lauren Bacall, all those people live there. So John would park his Madden cruiser when he was on the east coast out in front of the Dakota. And so John one year so, you know, for Christmas, I want to give you a night on the Madden cruiser and all your girlfriends can come and Dave and Willie the two drivers, they can take you around to bars in New York. So can loop Pellegrino get me some new earbuds, please. Okay. So thank you, Lou. So this will be your gift for coming on the show. It's a very good pair of earbuds. So we go over as you know, to the Dakota 25 girls, John's idea of hosting this Christmas cocktail party was to give each of us a paper cup, and he went around with a bottle of Jack Daniels, right? Everybody got a shot. And then John walked us out, we all got on the bus, and people just have to picture this. As the bus is turning on to Central Park west, you see John Madden in the middle of the road yelling. If all you single girls can not get lucky, riding around on the Madden cruiser during Christmas week going to bars, you are losers, losers, and he's yelling as the bus is pulling away..

"I lombardi trophy in tampa after. Winning six would fill ballot. Check in new england patriots. Fan matt damon appears to be on team brady for the patriots. Success saying quote fella checks an amazing coach. I never doubted that. It wasn't brady. He's on the field playing the game. Lavar you look at bella track and the patriots science differently after brady super bowl win in tampa bay. Your cat said that they made hove. Maybe hove say oh case so make another you know for me i say no i mean i do think that he is the goat and i do not see another. Tom brady being made by bill belichick by any stretch of the imagination but he did play a very very vital part and the development of tom brady so no i do not look at their dynasty differently without bill belichick and the bill bella check in theory and the patriot way that developed under bill belichick. I don't think that tom brady becomes the tom brady that he is. We were just joking on off off air talking about you know us being in the same draft and and how that all panned out win number two in that draft. He wanted to six round and look. He's got more rings than i did years in the league anyways. That's the bottom line here is is that in college. I played against tom. Brady that ain't to say. Do you remember cinderella man light. Hey dan do coming out of that corner. Tom brady became a different person when he went to new england. I attribute that to guys like tie. Law willie mcginest lawyer malloy joy. Browne dave bat and there are so many different guys that played a part. And what that. Chris slade like there are so many guys. They're maybe not christly but there were so many guys there that we're leaders when tom brady got their drew bledsoe himself like druids doke quarterback the leadership the guidance the development they environment if you're in an environment that's conducive to success. You're going to bre- success. Tom brady just needed that belief system. He needed that development. He needed that time and he got it and you can't take that away you can't diminish it you can't undervalue it so no. I don't look at the franchises. Saying i need to take aside. It validates that. Tom brady can throw some swag at you and dropped some drip on you in terms of what he represents is the jay z. And football maybe even in sports but the idea thinking that he's that without bill belichick if he came with me to washington. Dc he be doing media just like me today if he went somewhere like cleveland or cincinnati. He be doing something vastly different than what he's doing today. So no i do. Not discredit the value. That bill brought to the situation with. Tom brady agree. I don't discredit bill. Belichick because tom brady went on and played for a loaded. Tampa bay buccaneers team. That was did. They even have the best record in their division and then ultimately got better as the season went on and won the super bowl. good on. Tom brady for demonstrating that but the idea that somehow tom brady demonstrated that he is a super bowl. Champion and bill was riding his coattails all these years in new england. i mean. we're. We're always going to have this debate of who was more important but i think it's safe to say that both of them were vital to the success. And i'd say that even looking at the patriots this past season they're seven nine record quietly impressed me about bill belichick and what he was able to do to keep that team competitive. Because it wasn't. Just tom brady. That left they lost all host of key parts to that team. And we're practically full rebuild mode so the idea that somehow this is proof what happened last year's proof that tom brady is a super bowl winner and bill belichick simply benefited off of that. I don't even know that. Last year we take a close look at how tampa bay did it and what bill. Belichick did is coach with what he was left. Holding in. new. England gives any indication that bill belichick is somehow wanting as as a coach or the. Tom brady was without question. The superior piece that made the difference in tampa bay winning the super bowl. Usa you took all lame off popovich and put it on. Players who are on the court question is is bill ballot. Check a buster. And tom brady dragged into all these super bowls is do you look at it differently. And yes you have to look at the patriots dynasty a. Little bit differently currently right now now. The story is still being rin right. Bella check could go on to win two three four more super bowls. I don't think that he will but who knows say he does. Then we're gonna have a different conversation at that point probably but right now currently as we sit today. Tom brady one divorce and he is a little bits. He gets a little bit more credit for that dynasty. Then bill does. Tom brady doesn't play this all because he doesn't play defense that he didn't create the culture of new england's but he sure did represents he sure did follow wrong he sure did take pay cuts to make all that work. He sure did carry that mantra throughout the building and establish that culture that bill belichick wanted for years and years. He was a company man and then he left and did it sir where they missed the playoffs. Twelve seasons in a row had major influence over the rosser brought in guys like antonio brown and gone wrong cousy had influence over the culture of that organization and then they won a super bowl without winning the division. Yeah you gotta give. Tom brady a little bit more credit for that pages. The but you're right scale is a little bit in brady's favor i'll give you that shortchanging brady and the influence that he had. I was thinking purely as a player but you make a great point. There are a lot of guys who want to to play with tom. Brady in tampa bay the change. The dynamic of that team. So i will give you that. The question that i have for you is for lavar is does bill belichick half to win another super bowl with out. Tom brady now to prove that he had as equal a hand in winning super bowls. Now as tom brady. He's there is as big as my fist. Just like this and you can take the top off the stadium on the inside of it and you can store stuff inside the snow inside. That was definitely does have to win. I believe that when when it comes down to legacies and we're talking about the greatest dynasty. Maybe in all of sports. Yeah if brady went to serve on a win it then no but i think him winning the super bowl. The years you're after leaves the year after a team like tampa that was habitually.

"We could go up to the top twenty here on decibel geek and then may go up the top forty when we get done recording for the new chris and aaron show for the vip's our we just keep picking more. Yeah if you want to. Our list is okay all right. Let's see what we got left at the end we do need to do some vip work though What are you talking about. I just released two full kris and erin episodes this last week. Oh i'm sorry. I'm getting views and we're all we're also put a torpedo dude belts. Yeah so vip's keep your eyes open for those all right. So who am. I going to pick now I'll just the ones kinda were gut gut instincts from here on out. I think Cliff williams and phil rudd from ac dc. Those guys at nine on my list. Yeah i mean it's the classic rhythm section from the band and you know. I i love chris slade but You know hearing phil on the new record you just kinda hear something. That was missing and If you talked to any drummer they might be able to play as e. d. c. song. You know one or two or three in a row and and hold it down pretty good but do that for two hour set. It's hard to do that to be that consistent and cliff williams is not a flashy player but those two together man. There's magic they're definitely. And i think that's what i was looking at putting those guys top ten for sure anyway because again you know it's angus. It's the whoever singing whether it's bond. Scott brian johnson. And it's Malcolm you know that always gets. It's the three guys up front. That always get the The focus in acdc. And hardly anybody ever talks about cliff williams and phil rudd but take any. Acdc song and take away the base and take away the drums. It's cool but it's not what it is you know. These guys are the engine behind. Acdc the guitars awesome. You know the riffs killer. The songs great the singing cool but without the rhythm section in a c. d. c. They're nothing nothing. I tell you and so yeah i definitely agree cliff and phil deserve to be in their bowl so i i took one you want. Yeah you've taken a bunch. I wanted already so far out of my top ten. I've only got three left between the two of us. So i'm gonna go with my highest rank duo that i've got left and that is michael. Anthony and alex van halen at number eight. That's very yeah. They were on my list of possible. Also yeah you gotta have him. He can't do this without him. Van halen i mean there again. You know david. Lee roth and eddie van halen. What else is there. Look behind the curtain. This is what holds all these awesome songs together individually. I think alex van halen is definitely considered to be one of the greatest drummers of all time but if you look at it without michael anthony..

"Sorry about the max having that happen to him, But he had no chance. No, no. Now, a technique like okay, there's Tommy. Stupid to do the kicking again, But this time I think that's a high end over ender. Desmond Howard. Let's go out of bounds. It passes out of 37. He had no chance to stop it with a minute 14 left here in the third quarter of the ball game. The Packers leading 35 21 made two very remarkable statements on those last two again. I hate to repeat myself when you got this many ways to win football games, Turnovers returned pick off. You just have to be and that's it's amazing how Green Bay responds to pressure Respond to adversity. Things are going to England's way and both halves of this football game. They totally retook by the way the 99 yard kickoff return. Or the touchdown is the longest in postseason history. The longest postseason history has been getting his name on a lot of records this year, first down at the 37 for the Packers, who spread on the handoff. Dorsey Levens, and he has hit right about the line of scrimmage goes down at the 38. That was McGinest. I think coming in from this left side, Chris Slade, I tell you what he's got to get a helmet on. I mean, that time the Packers had a bunch of army of blockers out there. Nobody put a helmet on slate. Second down and nine yards to go at the 38 yard line. The clock running with 42 seconds to go in the third quarter and the Packers up by 14 points, 35 21. Here's Brett straight back in the pocket, looking dances around and can run. He's out to the 41st down. 45 remind midfield and that time he gets way came down inside. They dragged him down at a first down at midfield for the Packers, and he'll let the clock run out to the end of the third quarter. It'll be the end of three quarters with the store in the ball game. The Packers are leading in it by 35 to 21..

"Pretty good play by William Henderson to catch that ball. It was a good throw by Brown. I'll tell you right now. Well, that plus the fact Brett distant the last second, so him and just kind of half but Shovelled up to that time. Also good protection inside, the Patriots ran a stunt. The defensive tackles exchange, rushing lanes and Packer offensive line. Nice shot picking it up. So the ball is at the 47 yard line almost and it will be a second out about five yards to go for the second and five for Green Bay in their own territory. And here is Brett Farve Red on the hand off up the middle and driving is Henderson do about the 48 yard line again of a couple of yards for William Henderson to almost 49, which will make it a third down and to for the package they have come out with the desire to rush the football a little bit. Yeah. You think maybe they want to cheer along back and keep it ball? They don't want to give it back to the Patriots too quick so they will try to run it. What were they trying to do? Adjust the crossbars down here to fix the camera. Okay, third down and to the Packers need a first down right rolls at 49 yard line and Packer territory. Now they step a man into the backfield Murder. He comes in motion to this near side bread on a quick drop comes off to the right side. He got the first down at the 46 yard line around here in the right flat bread. In how much time actor he took 12 quick steps and fired a teacher who is just going to feel about three yards. Not many quarterbacks got rid of that ball in that quick release saved him again because there's a guy right on top of it. Time Adam Timmerman pulled out picked up Chris Slade, listen from the outside is tough thing to do. You have a tendency to overrun them. Nice balance by Adam Timmerman. Good looking drive by the Packers to start this drive on start the second half of a ball game. They have used up now a little over three minutes. So the ball at the 46 yard line of the New England Patriots and a first down for the treatment is split through the left side on Brett now seems to be changing at the line. Here's bread on a draw. Play up the middle. Dorsey Levens looking hole inside. It has to die back inside for a yard. Down to about 45 Yard Line, the New England tackle made by the linebacker on the left side, Chris sleep That time, The Packers ran a little fold block between Frankie and Adam, Timmerman and Dorsey totally left that blocking. I don't know what he saw, but if he followed his guard on that might have more of a chance in so it's gonna be second down tonight. Here's Henderson and Bennett back into the lineup for the Packers. Wall just inside the 45 yard line of the New England Patriots, 27 to 14 the Packers Early in the third quarter from New Orleans, Louisiana quarterback Brett Far splits his two running backs, You sent a man in motion rising to the right side and goes back to throw Here is bread. They come out it off the widow, Henderson, 40 Henderson down to a pack of 36 year old boy. There's a good tackle by New England because Henderson's momentum was gonna carry him. To the first down with the tackle by the linebacker on that right side for New England, Todd Collins stopped him before he could get his body across that first down territory. That's good play by the linebacker. Tell you, though, now that the Packer offense is beginning to roll. You can just kind to see that the states that the Patriots defense this case problem that was wickedness to make that play not college. They want to take away downfield. Fine. We'll hit underneath and burns Falsone third time in the yard to go for the Packers of 37 Yard doing here red upon her with 200 backs on this play, and then ride in and head up the second diving. I don't think you got it. You don't get it. He's about a half yard short of the first down, and this is a decision maker for the Green Bay Packers. Tell you, Chris Late, jumped around William Henderson, Henderson made never laid a glove on him. That's why it was short. Now it's fourth down and it becomes a tremendously big play. You might as well go for here because for my field goal angle, it's 54 55 yards. You can't make it from there. You might have to pump the vault. If you do. It's perhaps only a 17 yard punt. So Brett Farve is looking to the sidelines, waiting to get the play. He's asked for a measurement. That's why he wants to know how far he's got to go. It looks like it's 2 FT. Well, I say they pump the ball. That's my guess What it is about 2 ft. I'm wrong, but that's my guess. Decide on your own. I don't think you're wrong side they're looking for the sidelines appears to be a little bit of indecision right here. They may try to go. I'm off to so it is forthe down at a yard, but you'd like to keep the ball. This such an important go for you going reignite the other team. That's why Years out of the eye. They give it to me. They tried to go wide on a 2 ft play, They lose all the way back to the 43 yard line. Through That's amazing. I was a bad call. You don't run across the backfield like that on short yardage. That's a very bad call. So they know England Patriots will take over and they stopped the first round of the Packers. It could have been a devastating drive time out. Back after this on a Packer radio network from your local station. Packers Plastics on 6 20 W.

"State farm is there So it is going to be a second out of 23 Yard line. Backers leading 17 49 58 to go second quarter one running back in motion to the right side goes Antonio Freeman. Here's the head off up the middle. Dorsey Levens 15 inside the 15 to the person they were looking for. Spread him out, and they can't right up the middle Elevens made a great cut in the line of scrimmage. Exactly. Jim spread him out with four wide receivers. They run a little inside trap that we used to see so often. Aaron Taylor during the trap locking Sound of the 11 year old line for the Packers start to take a little bit of offensive control who now? Not a lot, but a little. Also the 11 yard line. Jackson, Samira and Edgar Bennett will come in with wider for the Packers, BB Elevens and Mickens leader. Let's see how important it is What Desmond Howard brings the Packers who gives him a short field. Oh, yeah, Question first down at the 11 yard line for the package Running back is Edgar Bennett got too tight ends into the ballgame now for green Here's the handoff digger looking for the hole. This time he wants to take it outside, couldn't get a block and goes down 15 yard line lots of four. He refused the first hole maximum when he stood outside. They caught up with him on that corner, and the Packard refused to give up on that play. I think you're right four times and have yet to make a yard. Keith Jackson, not staying on his feet, not sustaining his block out. Their wall is at 14. So it's a loss of three for the package. Second and on DH 13 yards to go. Then it said four carries for minus four yards. That'll tell you a quick pursuit team. They got some kind of athlete today that I agree with that. Those are both those guys on the ends of the line or two second from the 14 yard line. Going back to pass goes far. Now he sets up a little screening he was intending for Dorsey was going to go. He really had pressure on the play by Chris Slade again and he gets laid out of the play, but he threw the ball off. Levin's comes up with it in stride. Maybe you get inside the tent, maybe.

H. I. L. L. yeah I think it would be careful with doctor megabits she's even the admitted that some of her claims are a little over the top so be very very careful with that one okay well some of the things that then I'm hearing just makes total sense to me the vaccine that no they lay dormant in our bodies and they you know they can be brought back by wearing the mask he is breathing in your own you know carbon monoxide writer all optional a bit I really do think it's a lot about controlling and where the world is heading north to the one world system the old saying file monthly yeah however a recruit you you may be absolutely right you know some people say oh that's a conspiracy theory okay well fine but do you it doesn't mean that you can't be right about it so you know that's it's something to watch and something always be aware of and it's one of the concerns of protesters up in Lansing who were protesting against the governor's orders those are the kinds of things they're worried about and you know this governor will give a straight answers on everything so what it what are they to do so Hey alright if the call thank you so much beauty well root St stay healthy okay and very quickly before we need to take a break superseding is on the line from Detroit and the good morning sue how you been buddy probably in pretty good I hope you're healthy Sir well we your phones are healthy though the soup so we lost the phone line to supersede a though that's that's horrible because I don't want him to think that we we somehow cut him off okay show super gonna get you back on another tack maybe later in the show if you're still there Mike from Detroit let's try a you're lying next good morning good morning Frank I just wanted to mention every time you have March article on I really enjoyed the conversation that you have with him he seems to me to be one of the most rational clear thinking Democrats that that I ever listen to on your show and you know I'm I'm a Reagan Democrat to became independent but a guy like mark Jackson Hole it's Democrats and I can actually vote for it but I mean I live in wake county but I can't the more I hear mark tackles the more he oppresses me he's not afraid to speak his mind about what's going on and he doesn't put it in the in the political lands first to see how it's going to play that way with members of his own party that's what I respect about him is he actually gives you his opinion you can ask him anything you could challenge about anything and he doesn't take offense he tries to give you information and he does the same for his constituents other Macomb county you know what that's why Macomb county is working so well too I guarantee work once they call up are trademarks are cool is the democratic version of Brooks brothers that's I know he'd appreciate that to believe it or not I thank you for the call really appreciate it might be well and stay safe okay we are going to come back after the news.
