Why won't NFL teams hire minority coaches?

"Three head. Coaching spots have been filled this week. But none of those. Three coaches were minorities while the Rooney rule has been followed. Some are beginning to believe that minority forty candidates are not being taken seriously for the open jobs and anonymous African American. NFL Assistant Coach said that the League has quote finally shown. It's not the place as for black men to advance. It's ridiculous it's disgusting. We can sell tickets and make plays but we can't lead Shannon. Why isn't the Rooney rule role working? Well I think until skip this diversity thing yeah. Diversity is a great great to talk about but until you get someone the leadership position that says you know what. I don't just want to talk about it. I want to be about it so until you get older ships that actually wants to put some substance to this and this is what that you're GonNa get now if the general manager there's one general manager that's what minority and that's CR- Chris greer in Miami. There's zero owners that are it shouldn't say minorities. I guess because shot con radically a minority. But when you get the gist of what I what. I'm trying to say until leadership gets more diverse. You're I'm not gonNA have a more diverse hiring background skills. This was puzzling to be. Is that Eric. Enemy has the exact Zac job that Matt Nagy had negative and call plays any recall. Please man they can get the job. Doug Peterson sedinko plays true. Recall to play around Rivera's on but Ron Rivera was not the defensive coordinator in Philly. He he became a D. coordinator what's he got to the D. Coordinator in Chicago. You are you in San Diego. Yeah but he got his getting these enter coaching tree. Eric B enemy has the exact same job. That Matt Nagy Doug Peterson has and he's not getting opportunity is spirit but this. I don't really think that they go into it. Unless you incentivize this. Okay if you how minorities kill we maybe you have an extra three to five five dollars and cap space. That's the only thing that resonates with these owners because I get it skipped if I spent three billion. Let's just say I spent three billion dollars for a restaurant run. You Go tell me what the hell I need to cook. Cook whatever I WanNa Cook it there. And that's how they look at it. Jerry Jones spent money for this. This this mind you oh tell me why should get killed but but this notion that Oh and they brought Muhiba Marvin Marvin Lewis. He brought him in to to do that. Situation wasted the same with the giants the giants they had irebi enemy. They what Joe Judge Chris Rashard Rashard. Excuse me Chris Restoring. Yeah so now. Now we're down to one. Vacant Cleveland Reunion. I'm talking about how good already know. Angle get no frills JAYCO network skill. He already interviewed there. So you would now now the take my name off the leader and solid rubber solid. Take my name off the list. Because he's GonNa get Mad Max two and a half years if you're lucky that seems to instead that's all Jimmy can stomach now if you look at it they keep these. You look at Mike Patton. You look at all the guys they've had and these guys have had I think. Hugh Jackson stayed the longest at two and a half years. But everybody's been two years the list huge only two and a half two and a half long but you get you get these other guys you get pretty kitchens and you look at patent and you look at a I forget. Just give all these one year jazz. WE ACHE AAC CLEVELAND. That in Cleveland of the North this skill ruining rules a joke. I get it. You know minorities Cadillac. An affirmative action thanksgiving. Yeah but in -firmative action. I guess it's federal dollars. You'RE NOT GONNA get the money if you don't do this. The NFL is a is a private entity. So what can you do. What Ki- what can you give? Nfl Do not the so. I have been tracking this for a long time because one of my best friends is John. Wooten who is now the retired leader of the Fritz Pollard. Alliance and he was the driving force behind instituting the Rooney rule as I hiring practice in the national shirow all league and John's point from the start was I just need interviews because if a young assistant coach gets interviewed a couple of times times it gets reported in his name gets out there and if another owner sees that name enough over maybe a couple of years hiring cycles else maybe an owner says chee that guy. He's getting a lot of interviews. Maybe I should bring in. Maybe I should be more open minded to him. But if you're GONNA curse because if I get a a lot of interviews and I'm not getting hired was wrong why here the me getting hired cave liability with that. But John's point in the end was I'd rather have interviews than not have interests. Okay okay so let's go back to the stat that I use last week. The Institute of Diversity and Ethics In sports twenty nine thousand nine racial and gender report card for the National Football Bali. The League got actually an a plus for hiring of color. Assistant coaches right a sit a plot. Oh that's progress right. It got a deep loss for hiring head coach of Color White eight-plus assistance d-plus head head coaches. There's a big disconnect there and it shows you. That owners are fine. Oh hire two or three black assistant fine with that but nope nope. I don't want to head coach to be black. Right gives quite to the restaurant you can cook. You'll be in the bank but Michelle not the bridge. I roll up now okay so when I texted back and forth last we can use this last week of John Wooten just beside himself now. He is devastated by this this development his point was that only one. GM Chris Grin Miami. Point out is use. John's word heartbreaking because it could start with the GM right a black GM of or of color could be more open minded to say to the owner. Hey listen this guy is really bring him in. Let me let me introduce him to you right. The conduit to the owner can be stronger. Iran have I don't know six or eight black. GM right right. We've had them around the league four or but all of a sudden there's a dearth to rape Barma with Barma within Cleveland. He'd Gone Rick Smith who I know very well be in Denver. He interviewed for The Washington. Ashington John Daniel Snyder said head coach could be a head coach. Basically general manager after the Washington like who are the head coaching after the draft. The General Mattis. Okay so sometimes there is group think or shink sheep among the owners because in the end they do want to win right. And if they're looking around the League league and that black head coaches really successful they say well I want one of those. I want to go that direction right well. There was one black head coach who started to have success late in the year ear and he happened to be allied with Chris. Clear in Miami and Brian Floors off the Patriots. Well they started out all time badge for about what seven seven games fifty. Nine seven opening renders and then they basically it felt like they turned the whole roster iside down which they needed to do and then all of a sudden the last nine games they go five and four they upset the eagles and then they went to foxborough and just basically ended the season. I thought for the new New England Patriots playoff teams right. Okay so all the sudden Brian floor floor with the help of Chris greer. They're having big success. It looks like it's headed in the right drug us us but it wasn't enough of a splash to create momentum through the hiring process and right because John Wooden again texted me back with so many names he said we have so many in the pipeline. Who already started with Eric? B Enemy and Chris Rock. I think Chris Shaw Bad Year on defense but when I watch him interviewed when I watch his body language. It's a stunt man he's he's got. CEO Written all over him. He looks like a commanding officer to me. There's not enough black head coaches skip. Because because you look you look at Mike McCarthy guest job he hires the guy that gave him his opportunity coordinator fifteen years ago so you see the circle. We'll skip once you become a head coach. What do you do you go to the combine? You go to say elbow you got your drake. He goes to the coaches meeting and Yada Yada Yada and to connect with the boom boom boom right right. So if I'm not in that Lou. How do I get into loops? Because a rid of staff they said eighty percent of the jobs are never posted so in other worth people get hired somebody a friend or family member is not what you know who you know There in live the roof. It does house so to finish John. Bruton's list of pipeline candidates being AMEE. Chris Rashard Robert Sala. He threw Jim Caldwell on his list. Is Jim Colwell was highly successful zestful. Jim called wheel lost his jaw. Going nine and seven in two years Matt Patricia has nine total win and he's still got a job now he goldwell still doesn't have another job he in four years. He went to the playoffs twice in the last year he went nine and seven and they said well you know we need to move in a different direction. uh-huh and the guy that's replaced has yet to win nine total games in two years. Do you still own a still on the clock. Okay Steve wilks got one shot in time. I'm one year in Arizona and he was gone. He's now the defensive coordinator in Cleveland which probably didn't help his cause this year that much but I don't hear his name no in Cleveland right right on the list. And then there's Terrel Austin who's young stripes potential star coach and John Wootton into his list with Marvin Lewis who he thinks deserves a second shy right. Okay so Jerry. Jones did observe in qualified for the Rooney rule by bringing in. I Marvin Lewis. I think Jerry was shrewd operating waiting there. Because he didn't pick a young like like Chris Rashard type interview him because of Jerry had interviewed a young potential upcoming head. Black coach right. There's more pressure on Jerry. What was wrong with right? What's the problem exactly? He went to Marvin Lewis because he thinks Marvin Lewis is kind of old news right right. He got his longtime time shot in Cincinnati. Listen I still think Marvin did a good job job seriously. Yes okay he went. Oh and seven in the playoffs but still it was Andy Dalton Alton you re you with covering the NFL and you remember what Cincinnati before. Marlene got there was John. Carter number one overall. You Got David Cleland with the fourth. The fourth picket. You got big day to day and Wilkerson purse around the second pick in the draft year after year after a year people. Forget what I know. Marvin didn't win a playoff game. But they weren't even getting close to the playoffs for Marvin got there. No so I was disappointed in Jerry because you know my heart Hartz. I'd love to see Jerry Jones higher black head coach and I think I probably won't live long enough or Jerry will live long enough to know.

"I'm taking the upset again. I know I'm doing it. I've seen Kansas City blow it at home in the divisional round before especially a year where everyone thought they were going to win it, obviously it's Petra homes as their quarterback, not Elvis Girvan. This time. Yeah. I just I they don't play defense. I get that. Andy Reid is head a week to prepare for this. And typically off a bye that guy is essentially bulletproof not buying it. I think Indianapolis pulls the upset at Arrowhead, and I mean, I would love to Kansas City's a team that I would love to see when it I have no problem with those guys. I consider them like my third or fourth favorite team. When I was a kid did never problem with Kansas City is is on the dolphins weren't playing them still feel that way a love Patrick Mahomes. I think he's doing great things for the game. I think he's great. I mean kids I mean, he's a role model. I think that's cool. He's brought a lot of creativity to position that at times can get a little stuffy, you know, in terms of the guys who have played it. And we're starting to see the position break out of that. And I mean right now, I mean, he's the face of it. So that's cool. All that said, I think he's going to be watching the AFC championship game from. Home. I think Indy palsy upset, and I think that their defense looks really good right now, which I can you believe we're talking about Indianapolis defenses. Good. Yeah. Just just year or two ago. We're talking that sweet sweet dumpster fire for them. The off the preseason. We were making fun of it. Let's show. You know, it was and that was a low hanging fruit at that point. But I mean, Darius Leonard crew change things up fast. They're all in their offensive line is just absolutely stupid right now. I mean, Anthony Constanzo never played better. When Nelson is just an absolute battering ram in there. So yemen. We'll see I'm taking all right calcium Saturday night. It's not Chicago going there. It is the Dallas Cowboys. What do you think? While I want McVeigh to lose because of all the McVeigh hires this past week. I. That the Rams win because I just want the dolphins to be able to hire a coach. So again, I'm picking the the Cowboys to lose just so the dolphins can hire a coach, I'm taking the road Dogg. I think Dallas I can't believe I'm saying this too because I don't I'm not buying Dallas. But. Enemy. Yeah. LA's got. Now. I don't know. This is going to be a telephone. Because Elliot's got girly back. And I think that this is going to that's really gonna put some juice in their offense. Obviously everything they run is predicated around that guy in terms of play action and whatnot. So, but I I have to say that I'm feeling Dallas's defense right now. And I think that defense travels, and this is going to be an interesting test and O-man I if if Chris Rashard can find a way to to quiet down that that insane Rams passing attack than I'm not sure we deserve him. So I don't know. Let's see. We can't have nice things here. I'm taking the Cowboys in from saying that 'cause I mean, the Rams could very well just absolutely role those guys, but I'm gonna go with the upset. I think that you're gonna see ROY teams went on Saturday Sunday. I don't know that I can watch this game. Because number one I already hate New England they discussed me. Number two. The fact that I have money on the chargers win in the Super Bowl. So if the chargers lose Tom Brady is literally taking food out of my child's mouth. So because I mean that money will essentially go in her college phone anyway. So this is going to be a tough one. I don't know that I'm going to be able to watch this game. Because if it goes south, I'm gonna get so upset they'll that said, what do you think happens in fixed borough on Sunday afternoon? I'm gonna say that the pats have total Alabama moment, and they just don't come prepared to play even at home when they're definitely the favorites. And I think the chargers get him. Filbert has got beat him in that place at some point. Right. Yeah..

"Gaylon Smith and lane Vander will be with the guy was for a long time. And that is something very important something very big to take away from the season. We'll see how the Cowboys handle DeMarcus warrants what the situation is with him or they hit him with the franchise tag again. Whether they work at a long contract. We'll see if the Cowboys move on from Sean Lee, and it is kind of we're back on Thomas watch the Cowboys could fioretti bringing Earl Thomas, and I think a lot of people will want him to after we saw what we did from Jeff even save your woods on Saturday night. Ofensive -ly. You know, this is a situation in discussion and subject, it's always going to bring up debate and divide. But I think that Prescott proved that over the talent of the season is the Cowboys marched forward in one ten games and wanted division of wanna playoff game that he is definitely he's definitely your guy guy. You gotta have back that press got up as the unquestioned quarterback the Cowboys, Amari Cooper is legitimate. So offensively I think if you're the Cowboys you've gotta find sturdier tight end option, whether that's blade. Char- whether you bring in somebody whether you signed somebody to Cobb is obviously don't have a first round draft pick because they did trade. It's to the raiders to get real Thomas, but the cops have decision, they quit Kobe's. They have decisions to make again with big players and franchise players like Sean Lee, allot will change a lot has changed over the last few seasons. The question on periscope is whether or not will Christmas Rashard become defensive coordinator. It does seem like the Miami. Dolphins have zeroed in on Brian Flora's to be their head coach. Which would mean that Chris Rashard would return to the Cowboys. You know, I would bet Chris Rashard is the Cowboys defensive coordinator in official title sooner rather than later, and they probably will have a new offense coordinator, somebody in the focus whoever the guy was bringing it's going to be working with that Prescott and taking them to the next level. And finding a way to utilize the strengths because that's something that we didn't see tonight against the Rams so much of the reason that the Cowboys did what they did over the talent of the season against the Seattle Seahawks in the wildcard mammals because of Dak Prescott can do on the ground. But for whatever reason the couch for. Got the duck Prescott existed in terms of running option in Los Angeles. The Cowboys insisted on running the middle with Zeke, Elliot and living in dined by that. And they do not want to do that. But, you know, hey, there are certainly a lot of constantly from the season from the performance in Los Angeles. But again, lots and lots and lots of pros. There was a point great point. That Michael Gallup was a great discovery this season. And a lot of people were high on him from the moment. The Cowboys drafted him in the third around. But the future of the Cowboys offense at the skill positions. Does look bright you have deck Prescott Zeke Elliott, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup. There's a lot of excited about Connor Williams. There was a comment on periscope that he had to hit the weight room. I think we certainly will see Connor Williams beef up in bulk up over the off season. But the Cowboys offense of Linus said maybe Travis Frederick returns in two thousand nineteen who knows. I mean, the Cowboys won ten games and did everything they wanna play off game with no Travis Frederick when no Dez Bryant when though Jason win. This was a season of radical change. And they still somehow someway, fat away to to be relevant and make some noise. And that's certainly worth pointing out it sucks so much. I get it. If you're joining us, light, welcome to July, it sucks that the Cowboys season is over because there's a lot that has to go on you have to wait a long time. And there's no guarantee that you'll get back. I mean, you think about last year's Minnesota Vikings falling the NFC championship game..

"Fifty one K L I F Dallas Cowboys gearing up for a battle royale against the LA Rams, Steve lamb in the studio talk about how the team is getting ready, Steve let's let's go into the huddle with a hall of Famer a guy who will be calling the game on Saturday night on Fox TV former Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Troy Aikman gives us his perspective on what we can expect. I think a lot of the things that will be said this week were said when the Cowboys were getting ready to play the saints. Now, granted they were playing at home. So it's different in. This Rams team is is a different team at home. They're averaging almost ten points. More thirty seven points a game is what they averaged at home. But I think in looking at this matchup, I expect Dallas to be able to run the football against this Rams defensive given up a lot of yards on the ground there last in the NFL and run defense and can they control the clock? And and can they get after Jared golf? I just got done watching. In this bears game against now. And in the bears defensively really took it to the Rams, and they were able to get pressure with a four-man rush and play coverage and play pretty physical. And I think Dallas has those types of players that they're capable of doing the same type of stuff. Now. It's just a matter of whether or not they can go out and do it. So said Cowboys defense that has to be ready to go big because the Ramsey said, I don't know what it is when they play at home in the LA Coliseum, but they're averaging thirty seven points a game, right? The Cowboys have to do is to not allow them to get out front early. Because as long as they can run Zeke. They can run Zeke successfully as Troy just said the Rams have the worst run defense in the league. They they're allowing more than five yards a run. But if they start throwing bombs down the field and get thirteen right? Fifteen points ahead of you. Right. You gotta start throwing pass. Cowboys also have another secret. Weapon or ladainian Tomlinson. Thanks. They do in their passing game defensive coordinator, Chris Rashard because he used to be in Seattle, which means the Seahawks sold would see the Rams a couple times a year. So he's got some insight. They've been playing really well the Cowboys defense and a thing that I think about is Chris Rashard where did he come from Seattle? How many times has he saying Brown? A lot. Seattle against that. So he he knows some things about this office. That's gonna I think give the Cowboys are upper, and especially of tar girl is not healthy. But. Jay..

I think is a guy who's we've heard connected there. He's in New England. They're interviewing their own special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi this week, and he's a dark horse candidate that as the support of the players. So yeah, I think I would expect that to take a while if they're looking at guys whose teams are still going, you know, if the Cowboys lose on Saturday, and Chris Rashard is the dolphins guy. Then maybe they haven't announcement next week. You know, if same thing as the patriots lose, and Brian floors is their guy. But I think they're looking at some guys who seasons are still going on..

"Chris Rashard is a guy likes to be aggressive at the line. So you know, Rashard coming out of USC playing for the Seahawks from two thousand to two thousand four. Then being traded to the dolphins in two thousand five then signed by the forty Niners later that season in the Oakland Raiders in two hundred seven before retiring than hired in two thousand eight by Pete Carroll as a graduate assistant for USC, then falling to the NFL is secondary. Coach overseeing legendary legion of boom. And then after losing Super Bowl the Seahawks from what it recharges to these -fensive quarter to replace Dan Quinn will become a head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. And then they just mentioned on January twenty second two thousand eighteen this past season. He was hired to be the Cowboys as defensive backs coach. But really the defacto defensive coordinator as he calls all the plays on Sundays and install a lot of the game plan alongside Rodman Anneli interesting tidbit reported by model saga of the Miami Herald, Adam gates actually shouts chard after the season at to ask them to come to my as defensive coordinator retard declined you'll get his chance to come back to Miami. Hopefully, but you look at videos of chard and the passion the way he commands the camera the way he talks to the players to others. It's just very it's magnetic reminds me of Dan Campbell, except here's a guy who knows his accent. Is knows reminds me the passion of Darren Rizzi, but a guy who's great on one side of the ball. I really don't think on the surface. You can go wrong with Chris Rashard? Obviously, no one knows how a head coach is going to do in the NFL when they get to that position. But to me, it seems he is the most qualified out of the coaches dolphins actually interviewed men includes Eric the enemy that includes Dennis Allen, if they talked to Vic Fangio that may have changed a little bit, but they're not talking to him. So for me Sharda as the clear coat first place top candidate that I want to delve into higher floors would be second Rizzi would be third house. I know you're a big fan of Chris Rashard? So I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on him. He's Chris Rashard guru on sensitive radio. I think we all like Krista short. But it's interesting you say that Adam gates, you know, reached out into the defense quarter 'cause words not that we can say here say convincingly, but there's a good chance of season could have been a little different. If you know map wasn't in there. Chris for short was the defense coordinator. So. Oh, that's a little fun fact there. But for me, I think he's a guy who he had success in Seattle. He called the plays. He calls the plays. Now what he's done to Dallas as defenses extraordinary compared to what we saw last season from them. So he he's a guy who like you said he's vocal. He goes out there and shows a motion in he's a former player, I talked about it. I talked about as well. He was traded to the dolphins or he was. Yeah. His trade to the dolphins in two thousand five he'd never played a game. But he was a Miami dolphin. So come back home, Chris Rashard? Hopefully, douse loses this weekend. 'cause no one wants to see douse when they lose..

"Because if you look at his resume and credentials people might say like what has he done at Baylor that merits NFL head coaching consideration? And before people get. Too far down that path to things he built the temple football program into a very respectable one. "We're talking, of course, about Kris Rashard, the three teams that have expressed interest in one of the interview Chris Rashard as mentioned many times have been the Miami Dolphins. The New York Jets in the tab Buchan ears in cliff Kingsbury was according to Twitter and reports various reports on Monday afternoon going to me with the New York Jets on Monday are going to talk with them. And so. There's something that can make sense about cliff and Sam Donald woods, mentally USC connection. If you wanna associate cliff with USC for the brief window of time that he's been there. And then you've got the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who according to numerous reports are really really really leaning into hiring Bruce Arians as their head coach that is huge. That is very very very big. If two of the three teams that have interest in Chris Rashard could get their head coach before the Cowboys or even done with the playoffs that would be preferable that that would be awesome. You know, I think I speak for galveston's everywhere when I say, hey, bucks. Hey jets. What are you doing what he did waiting? What are you doing Stalin? Just go ahead. Just go hire your guys just get that process done and over with it would be fantastic news for Cowboys fans and those rooting for Chris Rashard to stay which is basically everybody if the buccaneers the jets, and we might as well throw the dolphins into that group. If they could go ahead, and I just got there. Just go ahead and do. No use waiting guys. Just get your guy and get the job done that would Christmas sharp can hang onto his job. We can all be having can all out. We can all sleep a little bit easier this week. Well, so there's a there's a lot to a lot to consider a lot to really kind of look into when it comes to this game. "Being here and wanting to maybe get a look at a playoff game, Jerry while he laughed. He he he feels like Stephen also was one of the few owners who stood up for him when everybody was ready to do away with last year. Yes. Yes. That was another interesting moment was Roger Goodell was here. Yes. Roger was in the house hanging out with Charles Haley while he was on the sideline and met with the Jones family, including a very nice conversation. Obviously wasn't much more than a year ago. Those two were absolute war with each other over Zeke, Elliot and Jerry contesting Roger Goodell's contract extension, but that's all long long ago now long ago. And here we go Cowboys headed toward the divisional round in the playoff Ed in. Of course deck was asked about this. Jerry was asked about it. Nobody's ever going to say. We have a preference. Yeah. We wanna play the Rams we wanna play the saints. You know, there's two ways. I mean guys like us though. We're allowed to say who you think the Cowboys preference would be I mean on one hand. The saints came in here and the Cowboys just torpedoed them a dominant defensive performance in. They beat them thirteen to ten in this place. Now playing on the road is a tough thing. Jerry, tried to make the point you heard him say and versity playing on the road that type of thing can be good that can be galvanizing for a team, but we've seen it. It is difficult to go on the road and get a win. And whatever stature great all this research. The number one the top seeds have been on a long run with playoff success, the top seeds have made have filled nine of the ten Super Bowl berths in the last five years. The only failure was the thousand sixteen Cowboys every other number one seed in the last five years has made the Super Bowl so going and again, it's either New Orleans, but you know, what's interesting as we look about the two possibilities. The saints the effort that they? Put forth against the saints. And the result that they got was historic. It was the worst offensive game that drew Brees, and Sean Payton I've ever had in other years together in New Orleans. It was not a fluke. Chris rashard? That's what got everybody's attention with Chris Rashard talking about Christmas shark getting coaching job that game more than any other is the one that got everybody's attention because nobody does that to the saints. I mean, they were on an incredible run, and they have not been the same team sense. And you know, why they haven't been the same team sense. Because everybody that's played them. Subsequently has tried to copy what the Cowboys did. So effectively I talked to Ron Rivera the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Riverboat Ron, and he is a defensive oriented head coach himself a great defensive coach. That's orientational. He plays the their division. They play the saints twice every year. And yet he told me we borrowed things that we saw the Cowboys do against Drew Bledsoe. Or drew Brees and mainly that was getting inside pressure and playing man up on the receivers and being physical at the line of scrimmage. Breeze did not have somewhere to go with the football quickly that was the whole plan. And it's been copy was copied by Tampa Bay which held the score down Carolina which held the score down. And I think it's probably something Sean Payton in and breeze. They're spending a lot of time on their by week. It may be a reason Christopher shorts getting about three. Job interviews, exactly on. That's got everybody's attention during the season used to be weird used to there used to not in years past Ed. Correct me if I'm wrong, sometimes coaches that were in the playoffs. You had to wake. Yeah. Till the team's gotta let it. But then it was obviously unfair to those guys totally. But that went on for a while, I have been told I think we did this..

"Was part of the. The coaching staff without question. But you know, they they do have a better defense. They've got more talent on their defense right now. You'd be looking at all of the numbers them against their top five against the rush, which is the strength of the Seahawks there a better pass defense on the Seahawks. They allow pure points than the Seahawks all of the numbers bear out there. Just a better defense in the Seahawks right now. But it's not anything. That's do. They don't he doesn't have any secrets about this hawks that he didn't know in week three that you don't learn over watching sixteen weeks a film at this point. There are no secrets. Yeah. There might be some new wrinkle Bill felt add offensively some tricks here or there, but ultimately the Seahawks they line up their defense, and they play the way they play. There's no secret about it. Their offense little bit different. It's definitely a halt from week three. It is much more efficient is much more dominant than it was in terms of the running game that's been established week in week out. So yeah, they'll they'll see a different version of the tax. But at this point when you've got sixteen games on film. You're not really surprising. Anybody? There's there's no big secret there. So Chris Rashard? He doesn't have any special insight now that he didn't have in week three hot real quick. I'm training puppy at home. Charlie the puppy. I know you got Frank dog collar or harness Bob. "We've talked so much about opportunities today in over the last few days when it comes to Chris Rashard how head coaching too don't come around too often. And that's true. But, you know, another -tunities don't come around too often a ticket to the dance. All right. If you're the Cowboys, you're in the tournament in your one of these teams that are left standing there are only twelve teams left in the NFL, and you are one of them. You have an opportunity to do something special. This does not happen. All the time. It's. Very very very difficult to get back to this exact spot. So you would be best served to do everything in your power to maximize and to capitalize on the position. You've put yourself in. Maybe that's what the Cowboys are doing New York. Maybe it was a level of experimentation. Maybe the Cowboys are planning on doing something different when it comes to their offense from here on out. But I think that we all liked what we saw from the offense in New York if the Cowboys compare that with how defense that was playing early on especially during the win streak that they put together. Obviously, I think we all into their team that can make some noise in the playoffs. There certainly a team that can be the Seattle Seahawks. I think we all believe that could be the saints on any given day. The Rams would be an interesting contest. It would be a little precarious to watch the Cowboys take on the bears. But you know, if the Cowboys are willing to do things differently offensively good for them because the Cowboys have had some red zone struggles that have really really really plagued them all season long. And you say that even though the Cowboys won seven of. Their last eight games. They're just a weird team in that they somehow manage to overcome an inability to score in the red zone, which is kind of the most important part of the game. But but again, they're a bit of a weird team. So that is an interesting sort of conspiracy theory, and again, that's a really heavy way to put it it's not quite a conspiracy theory. But it is a very very heavily thought thing that Jason Garrett is more involved in the offense. And we talked about this or this week and never wanna root for somebody to get fired or predicament get fired but on the subject of forecasting. What we've been Picabo coaching staff will look like next season. Whether it does or does not include Chris Chartres. I think we all would agree that it's extremely unlikely. The Cowboys coaching staff features Scotland ahead as the offense coordinator. But again, more impossible things certainly have happened. This gonna be weird..

"Maybe you don't I think this is like around the time of the year where you're supposed to others rule. Keep it up for two weeks or something like that. Who knows but we are two days away almost forty eight hours, in fact, depending on when you're listening or watching from the Dallas Cowboys playing there. A playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night. It's gonna be a lot of fun. I joined the field goals podcast field goals are friendly site over this nation. The field goals blog covers the Seattle Seahawks. Obviously. So that podcast is available. If you wanna hear their perspective on this game. This a lot of fun. And before we get there. A big topping point. This week really has has been something off field. There's a lot going on really in the world of sports. If you follow me, I live in San Antonio, Kawhi Leonard returns tonight. So that's really big thing going on. But when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys something big is happening off of the field. Chris Rashard Cowboys secondary coach passing game coordinator sort of pseudo defensive coordinator. Chris Rashard now has been tabbed by three different NFL teams in terms of interviews that they want to put together. That's right. The New York Jets the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers all want to interview Chris Rashard to be their head. Coach Jason Gert said on Wednesday that he would not disclose whether or not he and the Cowboys had given other teams permission to speak with Chris Rashard, but NFL networks Ian Rapoport did say that recharges expected interview after the Cowboys playoff game on side of me, which would be Sunday. So there's a lot of discussion about this Justin prince into these Facebook live has made him our head coach see laws into Facebook says I want Riley talking about Lincoln Riley who did sign an extension with the university of Oklahoma Riley Reshad for head coach after out outcoached by Carol yet again, so a bit of a pessimistic approach. Right there. Look, here's the reality. And I think that you know, when we're talking about this particular situation, you have to live in reality. You have talk in reality. You have to operate in reality. And the reality is Jason Garrett is very likely going to be coaching the Dallas Cowboys in two thousand nineteen. It's very unlikely. The Jason goes anywhere. They were three and five. Yes. But they rallied they went seven one if they win a playoff game this only adds to that argument. The practical reality is that Jason Garrett is the Cowboys head coach in two thousand and nineteen. Okay. So living in that reality capsule and say, no, I'm periscope says Rashard gone. I agree. I don't see a practical situation where Chris Rashard stays assuming. He obviously is offered a head coaching opportunity. And look there are a lot of responses to this. They're a lot of the same responses to this. You know, Donnie on periscope the great points as it may be unlikely, but it's still up to recharge if you leisure not, of course, anything can happen. Chris Rashard could love living in Dallas. He could love living in Texas. Who doesn't I love Texas? He could love Waterberg. I wouldn't hold that against him by any means. But Chris Rashard, I if you would put yourself in that situation. I mean his name is so hot right now that the name Chris Rashard is so hot with the Cowboys have done this season. Again, the rallying back on seven and. One to finish the season. You know, obviously, the success that they had the win against the New Orleans Saints. The defense has played it is extremely unlikely that Chris Rashad could do something in any season in the future. That would make his name hotter than it is right now, this is the time to cash out. I if you're, you know, if you're a believer in that very Fred of the show on periscope bail, you makacto. Why did he get fired by Seattle? I think it's a great question. My take on this always been that Seattle needed a fall guy after last season. Obviously the Seahawks lost a bit of a step. And really we started started to see the dismantling maybe from an internal perspective of legion of boom..

"Cowboys move on from Scotland hand win their season ends whether that had been on black Monday whether that Sunday morning, whether if that's two weeks from now, whatever the case may be it's very difficult to imagine. How the Cowboys can bring Scotland ahead back. I think we all think that I think we all share. That's a common denominator. Among all Cowboys fans everywhere. However, I will say that we all thought this year ago, we all thought this year ago, and somehow someway, Scotland ahead still made his way back. You know, I I've said this many different times there was a point in the two thousand seventeen season when the Cowboys went to Atlanta. And then they came home in hosted the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night football in the Los Angeles chargers on thanksgiving during those three games the Cowboys scored in the single digits scored seven nine and six points in those three games. That's really really really bad. In fact, it was the first time in Dallas Cowboys. Franchise history that they scored in the single digits in three consecutive games that had never happened before. And somehow some way they still rob back, Scott Lenihan. So while it's really does make sense for the Cowboys to find a new offense of corner when their season does end we have definitely seen some weird things before very last thing before we get outta here. Chris Rashar Dallas Cowboys secondary coach in sort of pseudo defensive coordinator has already been pegged as a head coaching candidate. And I noticed freaks a lot of people out. I know nobody wants to see Chris Rashard leave. I know. I know I know, however, the facts are that both the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are interested in Chris Rashard to be their next head coach they have requested permission to interview him and talk to him with the Dallas Cowboys. Jason Garrett would not answer on Wednesday. Whether the Cowboys have given that permission, but he did say Chris Rashard would not interview with those teams before the playoff game on Saturday right after he said that Ian Rapoport of NFL network reported there. Chris Rashard is expected to interview with these team. On sunday. So we'll see what happens if the Cowboys went into Cowboys lose, whatever the case may be crystal charges at the various expected to talk to some degree to built the jets and the dolphins. It's very very likely in my opinion that Chris Rashard is somewhere else in two thousand nineteen much that sucks because head coaching opportunities. Don't come around all too often. And I know that nobody wants to admit that or believe that. But think about this. I mean win is Chris Rashard going to be hotter. I I mean, what could Chris Rashard do next season two seasons from now that would elevate his name in his position and his stature more.
