Are the Utah Jazz a real threat

"Once play resumes in the second have Utah off to a tremendous start. 27 9 on the year they're doing it with great spacing, knocking down tons of threes and getting good looks while doing it, So I don't know if it's necessarily fool's gold. I don't think a bill to keep that pace up. Even if it is good looks. But they also played great defense is not a team that is just out there. Shooting the lights out from beyond the arc night in night out. They played tremendous defense. So Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and think about it, too. Where we've come from in a year, you know, a full year almost Um, where Rudy, go bear. Started the shutdown of sports. With Corona virus on the court. And you know, then gave it to his teammate Donovan Mitchell in there was talk throughout the course of, uh, you know, the off season one The pause was happening. The shutdown was happening that Mitchell was upset that there would be a break up with Utah between go burned out of a Mitchell and here we are now a year later. At the old Star break Utah 27 9 and have lost two straight by the way to get to those nine loss is still the best record in the NBA but led by all stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. So who cares what they get drafted? And some stupid, silly, gimmicky. Way to come up with the an All Star competition would team LeBron Verse team. Katie can't stand that, but anyway. Um, you know in the West Can Utah be taken seriously to beat a fully healthy Lakers team? We don't right now than awfully healthy with Anthony Davis out, but you have to assume he's going to come back healthy. And if he does Will the jazz be able to compete with them? That'll be the big story line of the Western Conference in the second half. Can the Clippers get things turned around a little bit were there you know, and now they've lost three straight. So have a good record, but still don't look like a championship contender. New coach. Same result. Same stuff with the Clippers, where they're not playing as well as expected. Phoenix has done a nice job and the West, but I don't know if anybody really takes them seriously, just yet. They're young team Chris Paul, leading them. And him and Booker been great, But I don't know the sons can do any real damage. Nice to see those from different teams

Who Is Likely to Win the All-Star Game?

"Now i'm gonna tell you what was wrong this game in it is team rant. And i'm gonna let you know why like hidden in. I think that they're going to be the winner here. Keep in mind this a fun game to see all star game. There is no real. There is no reason to put it all on the line. So i just think these top five and the starting role with young. he's gonna wanna make a name for himself devon booker who another young gun. I believe it was their last year but he had come in as a subject here. So he's gonna wanna do good. I see more youth potential on durant. It's gonna want to actually make a difference a even zone. They gotta sign on on. These guys are young and go on and make statements looked for them to give more effort than people like steph. Curry people like Tombo people like chris. Paul i just i think they're giving give you more effort and that's why i think team durant's get win this game again. It's a fun game. Don't be surprised going down the stretch last two minutes of they just wanna play slam dunk mania because there is no real cost to this game. So you know. I don't think this is a game worthy betting on or immediate. Any real significance is not. It's an all star game. It's weekend time it's fun but nonetheless. Those are your two teams one more time team. The bronze can start with lebron at tombo steph curry luca danni in nikola jokic. They're going to go up against team. Durant team grant kevin's going on his chin leading outfits and on the side he'll be coach and bradley beal. Joel embiid kyle. Erring kawai leonard. Jason tatum those injure starters and then all the other big names league made. It's the one that didn't make. It was trae young from atlanta. Which i i would put trae young on here before julius randle before on coal of Vic i would have put him on there before. So bonus I a big fan of trae young out of atlanta. He hasn't had the greatest. But you take trae young away from atlanta in the garbage and don't get me wrong garbage january's with out him. I mean he really is a one man team in most other teams are relying on much landed and it just goes to show you how good your quick helping gets inside and gets done. Betrayed young. didn't make it and you know they always say you can't have everybody. He's the one person i would have liked to seeing may get But nonetheless getting back to the point here. Anthony Davis finalizing five-year, $190 million max deal with Lakers, agent says

"Or Chris? Paul. What kind of money in contract negotiations? Did Mr Clutch sports full in this league on LeBron and then a D and back to back days? What is he charged for? That One quarter, then 2% 3% no more than three right. I do have a friend. That's an agent and I'm doing this off in time. My head, but I think They get generally between what four and 10% depending on the sport. It depends the more you make, the less the percentages so I I paid agents 10% most of my life, but I don't make that much. But a guy like LeBron James when he's your buddy. Yeah. You know, I I would think probably 3% would be The going rate, uh, for that, but I mean, he did monster contracts back to back. On. It's the relationship with LeBron. I mean, they grew up together, and he's the guy who's got trained my green as well. And they all orchestrated the The Anthony Davis, You know, transaction to hold out from New Orleans and put on the T shirt that that's all folks and, you know, just kind of tanked on there all year and Even though they were a playoff team, and you made the point that They? They both got massive contracts. I mean, LeBron, a two year $85 million extension. Could. It could have gotten more I think and then Anthony Davis, a five year 1 90 he can get out of here is an early termination doesn't have to go to the fifth year. So I don't know. You know, the the roll back and in the B R. I Is going to affect most people, but I don't know if it'll affect them. There is a very top end. But I think they probably could have squeezed a little more juice out of it. To be honest with you, but they all signed back to back so We're looking at the Lakers being the dominant team in the NBA for at least the next three years and more. It's interesting that actually A D committed to a year beyond LeBron. So I mean, LeBron is you gotta play more than just this

The Bubble is Bursting for One Card

"If only i had started in two thousand eighteen. I'd be able to retire. I would have invested so much money into luke. Oh boy what. Four now luca. The silver prism the standard one. Those like those. Want from like two k and like february. Two eight k nine k. Now it's insane. What the hell. Hey how about this. I never knew cards. Went for this much money chris booker. The rookie was nine hundred. That silver prison nine hundred dollars all right. They traded for chris. Paul within two days they were selling for thirteen and fourteen hundred dollars. Wow well. la repeat that. I got to hear that again one more time. They were nine hundred bucks. When i checked nine hundred. No devon booker. Okay sorry okay. I heard desmond being in my brain out devon booker day traded for chris paul and within a couple of days those i saw him for thirteen and fourteen hundred in auctions. I mean that's how fast it really is like stocks. Now it's crazy. Yeah i mean. Stocks stocks are usually that good stocks are good but not that good but you could see people ran out there and it became supply-and-demand people. Were like book rookies. Because these are the next ones that are gonna fly up. I mean that's my understanding. I have somebody of done. Some research and have some had some conversations in recent weeks. My understanding is that if you're in the buying and selling business with cards and is very reactionary when it comes if a guy's name to an all star game or a guy. The team trades for big name player or the team. Their team gets hurt. Or whatever it's very reactionary and it's sort of i mean sometimes it's it's unpredictable from our standpoint. That's why i would say this. If you feel like you really know basketball. This is only tip. Give out daybreak. If you are thinking about getting into this. And i'm i'm not the guy as somebody that really knows about all of this stuff to to give you tips on where to look how to start all this kind of stuff because i'm not that guy Because i do get a lot of questions about that. Because we've mentioned on the show i would say this if you're gonna go into basketball and you're gonna buy basketball and you want to bank on somebody now because you think the cards are gonna go go do it. Now before this damn season start you've got about whatever two weeks because once the season starts it's exactly what you say of the night that guy drops fifty people go on there and try to start by rookie cards. Those jamal murray things went through the frigging roof at one thing. I think it's also important to have a frugal mindset when it comes to your finances earth when it comes to investing when it comes to investing in stocks or bitcoin are or even cards. I think it's important that you have enough of like disposable income like not like not like you don't need a ton necessarily like you do things that you enjoy and things that make you happy maybe start buying video games or whatever else it might be but you know you gotta have a cushion to support you in case things get real like jobs get lost especially right now during a pandemic investing a lot of money into something can be incredibly risky. Especially if it's all and one you know basket all in one player all in one stock or whatever you need to have a cushion to support yourself especially if you're somebody who you know is on the younger side and may not be living with your parents or whatever. I just think that's important to mention and what stocks as well you know sometimes being conservative and having stuff that builds long-term and grow don't for for i'm trust me i am. I am very much in the middle. But i think it's lawrence to offer conservative Advice for a lot of people who may not have A conservative mindset. But i'm by fall. I find myself in the middle. Quite often doesn't mean. I don't take good risks. So do you think it was unwise for me to use my tire children's college fund. The john mara was you find that on. Wise should have put it into luca. There's a lot of when you when you look at. What for josh cheaper when you look at what Steph currys and the lebrons worth now. There's luka doncic have a giraffe named after him chamrann. Phoenix Suns complete trade to acquire Chris Paul from Oklahoma City Thunder

"Right welcome back. Look who's here perk with us Stephen i'm going to start with you on this one. If the nets do get hardened do they need to win the title. This season having this type of talent downright without question. And i'm gonna tell you why because the pressure is going to be immense first of all your k. d. Obviously everybody's looking at you comparing you to lebron and stuff like that Lebron goes and he assembles a big three. Then ultimately you want up to him and went to golden state and gave the ultimate big three. Lebron sits up de a d. is now in. La so you go to brooklyn you got kyri and then you get a james heart so the pressure will be immense on him. This guy read because of all the things that max has titillated throughout the years and to a lesser degree kendrick perkins when you talk about the lack of leadership there kyri urban may have shown from time to time. He elected to leave cleveland. The go to boston. The situation in boston didn't work out. He goes to brooklyn the only place. Twenty games helped was an issue and all of that stuff plus. He made some headlines. That's an issue. And then you've got james hearted remember. James harden didn't want the white how houston Ultimately he didn't want chris paul in houston and then obviously even though again and kendrick perkins knows this far better than me because he has those relationships with these guys. In particular russell westbrook russell westbrook made sure to reiterate to me. Listen his relationship. With james harden is as is big tom their brothers and they're gonna always be brothers. We did not talk about basketball. Just a relationship that he has with james harden which also articulated over social media. I by the way his relationship with james harden they are brothers and they are tight but that doesn't mean they want to play together so as a result of that rests with westbrook is planning on moving on as a result of him. Moving on james harden is moving on. And so there's going to be some pressure to bear because with all of this money that harden and k. d. and career getting paid along with the expectations. Let's bring in the last element you in brooklyn. New york utah. You're even denver. You're in the mecca the media capital. Now obviously the knicks are in new york city madison square. Got it but we should all be allergic to mentioning championship protection at a new york. Nixon brett at least at this moment atop the faith man leon roads and we'll worldwide west but the bottom line is is blasphemous sacrilegious to talk championships. And and the knicks but brooklyn fall weighs less than ten miles is less than ten miles away. It's still a part of brooklyn one of the five boroughs and there is going to be are meant pressure on manse. If the three of them larry know why go give it their. Kp might be right about this guy at five in milwaukee we might see silly. Do some things we know. Lebron is at whatever but if those three assemble no one is going to be interested in any stupendous as to why they did not win after three guys. You damn right. They need to win the chip because the world the world will be watching. First of all brooklyn is even thirstier for a championship. And i think is a bigger deal than a team winning in manhattan in the sense that brooklyn hasn't had a championship in sixty five years. Since the dodgers left brooklyn in fifty seven but they want and fifty five to go to air like that. But the knicks. You're right it's been almost forty eight years for the knicks but brooklyn is the nets or the team in new york. The knicks don't even exist compared to the nets right now and let me say this. There is immense pressure for them. To win you're right stephen while they're together i'm here saying it doesn't need to be in the first year for example if hardened goes to brooklyn and they lose in the finals and a tough series to the lakers. A team like that. It's all right but they have to win while they're together. Even this year's lakers team. I didn't pick them because it's hard to just throw a team together with guys have been played together. Get all the complimentary pieces right. Get it all right to go all the way. We saw that with lebron and his return to. Cleveland went to a game six of course they had injuries on that team. But that's part of it is coming off the catastrophic injury and we saw it again a result before that when lebron showed up miami with the big three it some it takes some times a year to get it right with guys playing together so i would say while there's enormous pressure for them to win while they're together because k. d. if he's most of themselves even is an mvp caliber player so is hardened and kyri may not be an mvp but he's more than just an all star he's all star plus you have to. Mvp caliber players an all star. And then some you're supposed to win a championship to gather. I don't think it has to be in the first year. And i wouldn't say that it's the kind of pressure for example when katie went to golden state. It's like there was more downside. Like guys you have to win it. If you don't win a championship that sorry i wouldn't. I don't think people will be looking at this team like that. Sorry if you don't wanna chip you gotta get outta the east

NBA Draft Rumor Mill

"Two thousand and twenty. Nba draft rumors whether those trade rumors talking about where we're hearing particular players going. We've talked about all the big names already. We've talked about hard and we talked about chris. Paul we've talked about dennis schroder. We've talked about russell westbrook. We talked about minnesota. We talked about golden state. We talked about charlotte. The bulls are sitting there at four. And it's been really interesting. Dinnie obvious name's been floated about. I've heard from multiple sources that that is sheer speculation because of their general manager. Who's an international guy. And what he did in. Denver has nothing to actually do connected with this pick. La bella ball could be there for chicago. Which would be very interesting in the back court that they currently have there. And i've heard a lot of therese albert. I'm here as well as a culture guy and one of the big things that chicago is focusing on his culture right. Now who do you see taking at ford. They have a guy. I applaud the bulls because they have really done a good job of not telegraphing. What they're doing you know they've been connected to a lot of these guys. They've done an above average job. Relative to when teams are leaky of keeping this close to the best And so it's who they end up with. I think if ball is there he makes tons of sense. That's a nice fit with you guys have and the need for a passer and the fact that there are other scorers on the roster where he's not gonna act like be the only guy who's creating anything that's a pretty nice fit so we'll see if he's there we dug into lamelo earlier so i'm not gonna harp on that fit but let's say he's not there and i think allah is a real option. I agree that some of it is the speculation but he does kinda fit their roster as well and i've heard again obi topping. Who's come up for them. A anthony grants Coach dayton was on billy donovan staff previously thunder. So they're obviously going to be well informed about top into. There's some thought that billy donovan can have some input on what they do here. But it's hard to know exactly what his type of player is is. In oklahoma city you had prestige san prestige Decisions with burst now. So how burton has come up another dark horse. I think for that spot. And i'm still not entirely sure what to make of this but it's patrick williams who i know there's at least some degree real interest there. Would they take him at four. It wouldn't be like totally crazy. At this point. It would be high for him. But i mean maybe that's their secret. They have their sleeve It's really tough for me to predict too but right now my guess would be that if there is no ball. I still lean audio. But i don't think it's like a foregone conclusion. I think people are trying to figure chicago right now. Let's talk about patrick williams because it seems to be a foregone conclusion that everybody thinks detroit's taking him it's of and so now the question is will even be there at seven which you know a few weeks ago probably would have been seen as madness. But i've heard talk that. Atlanta is interested in him. I've heard talk. That cleveland is now interested in him. The most of the talking. Cleveland centers around obi top in and dinnie omnia there. And now you're mentioning chicago at four with patrick williams heck widen on the warriors taking to. Is you know patrick williams is. This is the next upside guy right like after you talk about ball edwards and weisman. I think mini scouts see him the next guy he only averaged nine points a game at florida state but that he has this big big ceiling right that he could that he could fit into as a team. Just as a prospect. Is it possible. He's getting over hyped at this point. Do you really see him. As a player that has the next highest ceiling in this draft after ball edwards. In wiseman i have to admit like. I'm not all the way there with him. I have had him graded as a lottery. Guy for a long time towards the end the college season i was like that guy is gonna go ten to twelve. And that's where i had him now. Yeah i didn't expect this type of leap. I guess we might have predicted it because team sent to be a little bit predictable this time of year. You know the the upside guy always the guy. It's without quite john right now but yeah. I think he's very much an idea. And it's worth re-emphasizing that you know. His his body obviously is really promising in terms of how it will hold up defensively. He's going to be versatile. On that end he will have to get a little bit more agile laterally but his is. The value so young is really helpful. Obviously a big factor. You know being the youngest college player in this draft so between that and then you see flashes were really had a pull up jumper. He's did pretty well from the line. I think there's a pretty good chance. He's an above average three point shooter in now you're talking about well. Hey maybe this is a floor spacing combo forward. You can check out. He'll buck shots. He will play good team. Defense and be switchable. That's a pretty in this draft especially when we're like how do we find like even just like a high level player that case is pretty egypt's let's let's say we take that case for. I mean that's a pretty comparable high and dry or if not better. So i see it what i do it at four. I don't know but i understand why this is happening. And i think there teams that you might wanna come up and get him. And that's probably what the pushing them up. The board as well wants wants everybody found out. Detroit was the floor. Change the conversation. It really does. and there. Is this weird psychological dynamic in the draft. That i love it every year. You know jeremy because this thing takes hold oh you like him at seven now. Maybe we at six like there. Is this conversation that starts to happen with these with these boards. And so you know there's so much data and there's so much scouting that's put into this. But the psychology of the draft is the most fascinating fascinating

"Things are hot in phoenix and they have to be hot on a sports front because it was ninety two degrees again today. The latest. That has ever been this hot and phoenix somewhere. I think we're supposed to hit like ninety five tomorrow. So it is hot and happening and phoenix both on the sports front and just the warm weather front that being said sons. You're already pretty excited about the suns to begin with and now he got chris. Paul come to town. Well you know. Sons are in the midst of an eight game win. Streak you know other bubble team could say that. No other bubble team did that well and miss the playoffs but You know sons. I got a little bit of bonus basketball after the covid break they you know they got the bubble in orlando. Stick around for the playoffs. So they've had a little bit of a longer. Offseason i th. I'm sure that they're ready to go. And you put chris paul on the suns. You put the sons against the lakers on christmas day. you know. it's it's got some banana boat reunion on. I think it's a big deal for the sons. Were going anywhere with rookie. Ricky rubio and then dot the andrea. They're going to build around booker in eight and here I it goes far. As a short term solution. They gave up The up a little bit to get them. But i think the basketball should be exciting here. I think that they'll do a good job building on a pretty promising season. Your remember you know you have to go way back. You have to go back almost a year now To deandra eight and being suspended for twenty five games and yeah that's what did the sons then. They played their hearts out in the bottle. In third very promising team in the western conference or the contender. They're not but i think that they'll give golden state and the lakers a little bit of a raw. The clippers are dead in the west and Villas sons have a chance to penetrate through. I think that there are playoff team this year. How far they go Really depends on how well they're playing when the playoffs rolled around

"But I don't think that the matchup would be ideal there either because it's going to be really hard to stop James Harden and Russell Westbrook in a series too but you know the thunder will be hard to stop to. They closed out so many games. This year named develops such a chemistry that whenever they get close in late games. They believe that they're going to win. No matter who the opponent is so this sort of don't forget about me story. You know like a lot of people kind of wrote off Chris Paul when he went to Oklahoma City but is this whole situation. A reminder that you know. We shouldn't forget that Chris. Paul sort of an og yeah. I think it's a story of a player. Shouldn't be defined by every place he's at he should be defined by whatever's happening then and going forward. I think that Russell Westbrook's doing the same thing in Houston. A lot of people wrote off Russell Westbrook early in the season but Houston changed the way that they've played they've gone to a small ball lineup with no center essentially or a small center and our Russell Westbrook is flourishing in their offense and looks closer to his best years in Oklahoma City. I think you can say the same thing for Chris Paul. It was presumptuous of us to write him off just because he had been injured in previous seasons. If you get a healthy Chris Paul. You're going to get a very hungry and driven team. I think the big surprise in terms of Chris. Paul is how much he's been willing to let go and how much he's been willing to share the offense and be a part of the offense as opposed to the entire thing or the entire control of how they do things and I think that says a lot about how willing these guys are to rewrite their narratives as they get older and deeper into their careers. It's really a credit to Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul. What's happened this season and they're like we've said? There were a lot of people who assumed Chris. Paul would demand to be traded by the thunder. Sort of like what Andrea Gwendal with Memphis? Or that he might just kind of bide his time until he went somewhere else. But that is not the case at all you know. He's playing a lot of minutes. He's only missed one game season. What does all of that tell us about Chris? Paul as an extreme competitor you know just talking to his family and just talking to him. He'll use the term he just wants to hoop no matter where it is. Whenever I do have the opportunity to play I enjoy playing because you get perspective when you're injured and you can't play you know when I'm able to play. I want to play you know so like I can't speak for anyone else but it's nothing like who nothing. There's something to be said for a guy who ends up in a place and still gives his best effort despite the that. That's not what he anticipated happening. This is a guy who's been through a difficult year in terms of his career. You know his family still in Los Angeles. He has to go see his family on the off days and the time that he has to see them but he does have people with him in Oklahoma City. That support him. He'll have his brother or his dad with him but he's doing work away from the people he loves and for him to do that despite the fact that he didn't play in any of this really you know it's kind of a testament to how much he loves the game and how committed he is to continue to be a championship level player at this age. So it's sort of like a renaissance season for him in a sense where thanks so much for joining us and enjoy the home stretch here. Thanks for having me anytime. You can follow Eric. "He's clearly one of the most respected players in the league. I mean he's the president of the NBA Players Union. And he's also one of these guys who it just seems like he thinks about basketball a little differently like I've seen him talk about how the NBA should track different stats than the ones they do. There should be a stat at some point. Four big man who roll out and get other people shot right exactly and that's something. That nerlens does night in Ion Sodas. He thinks the game on a different wavelength just talking to his dead this season. His Dad has said he's always been like that. You know Chris. Pause the guy who points out a guys jerseys untucked before he's about to enter the game so that the other team can get a delay a game called on him and the thunder can get a free throw. Have you want him to make this free throw? Minnesota just got deemed for delay of game that won the thunder a game this year. So this is a guy who knows all the rules. He knows every which way to score. He knows all the INS and outs of teams how they play defense against him and he's used that over the last fifteen years at his size six feet barely six feet to become one of the most impactful players. We've ever seen an eric as someone who's around the team a lot and sees Chris Paul Day in day out. What's your sense of him as a person just talking to the other players He. He's a real leader and I think you've picked up on some subtle notes throughout the season not so subtle notes that this is a better locker room than the previous season. You Chris. Paul is a guy who's really taking shape you'll just Alexander under his wing. It was crazy actually saw him in some Summer League After he had been traded and I was telling him. You know. I'm excited for you. You know a lot of watch you play and we talk Hulu later. We'd be teammates. He invites him to go with him to Los Angeles on his private plane. When they have a couple of days he watches film them at his house. In Oklahoma City. They're constantly competing against each other in practice settings so the thunder see she goes out. Zander's the future and a lot of guys don't have that sort of mentor. Ship approach when they get deeper into their careers. There can be resentment but Chris. Paul hasn't been that way from everything that I've gathered. He's been a guy who has really taken to some of the younger guys on the team. So the thunder went from being the Russell Westbrook and Paul George show to now being a team that likes to play three point guards at the same time and a lot of people. Just didn't think that that would work. You know that Chris Paul wouldn't be able to Mesh with Dennis Schroder and you'll just Alexander. You can't allow Chris Paul to be on the team. Because that hampers the growth of shake gilders Alexander. My concern with that three point guard line wasn't so much about the offensive output. My biggest concern was defensively. I didn't know how Dennis Schroder and Chris Paul would handle you know playing in that three. Point Guard lineup. Where Shakily Zander's good young player and he's six six but he's still not as forceful defensively as you like and he's not GonNa pick up other teams number one assignments Chris Paul in shooter of had to do a lot of that heavy lifting in both of those guys are just scratching six feet tall but so far. The results have been incredible that closing lineup with their three point. Guards along with Danilo Gallinari in Stephen Adams. They're beaten teams by thirty points per one hundred possessions in the fourth quarter. It's a phenomenal number. And a lot of it has to do with those smaller. Guys overcoming that heightened size advantage or disadvantage and being able to defend guys really. Well anytime you've got three guys that are used to having the ball and sort of running the show it can get a little dicey they can get competitive with each other each one of them. Maybe kind of wants to be seen as the point guard. What is the dynamic Ben like between these three guys this season? You'll billy not have in. The thunder coach talked about it. He met with these three guys in the pre season and told them. Look if we're GONNA play together everybody's going to have to sacrifice a little and sacrifice then shaving as much was born. His Hands Christmas giving up some soon and they coexisted. They found a way to meet each other better. I Chris Paul he kind of. Let's finish shooter. And she gives us Alexander do some of the damage on the perimeter throughout the game before he comes in in the fourth he'll take over he'll start to command the offense more so it's been a great balance between those three guys and the thunder's offense has benefit for its more democratic and they're one of the best shooting teams you'll see in the league this year and seems like these. Three guys are genuinely rooting for each other. You guys Mike Zahn as you get a tendency well each other's chilies. Dennis Comb Shave. All I'll seem teams. Where guys aren't necessarily loop each other. They want you to do that where we're not like and it's refreshing and these guys are all behind each other because they're all playing equal roles in the offense and you've even seen now as the season's gone on there's been more of an incorporation of more guys in the fourth quarter than just Chris. Paul is it true. Twenty two I've talked to fans about this and they've said that it's really been a refreshing. Look at how the thunders played basketball not just you know from the Russell Westbrook error but even the Kevin Durant air to where there was a lot of isolation play an individual's making plays basically for the first decade of Thunder basketball. Now it's anybody can scored anytime and Eric. Do you think Chris. Paul has accepted his role on this team willingly where he's expected to share the spotlight with two other guys and focus on doing his thing in the fourth quarter Chris. Paul is a very demonstrative personalities. A guy who wants to be in charge people kind of call them the little general but I think that at this stage in his career and what he was coming off from Houston experience. I think Chris Paul kind of has an understanding of how he has to evolve his game too and he's been great. You know from everything we can tell. He's been an outstanding leader for this team. And I think the result show with the thunder being one of the top five or sixteen in the western conference with the capital. One SAVER CARD. You earn four percent cashback on dining and entertainment. That means four percent milkshakes with the kids in four percent on music with your pals you also earn two percent cashback grocery stores and one percent on all other purchases. Now when you go out you cash in capital one. What's in your wallet terms? Apply Eric a lot of people saw the Oak Thunder as losers in those trades last summer. But Right now they're in playoff position and they have a bunch of number one draft picks on the way. Were they actually the big winners? I think that remains to be seen draft. Picks exactly what you just said. Their draft picks. They're not players. You don't know what it's going to become in four years or five years or you even know if you're going to select the right player. I think you know what you have in a guy like Shaquille Zander. I think that he's a winning player. He showed that as a rookie with the clippers and he showed that as a second year player with the thunder. Not as good a team as the clippers who they did the big deal with. They're not as good of a team as a Houston who traded two first round picks to them for Russell. Westbrook so thunders. On a long track plan because of how many pigs they have going out so far and their hope is that the clippers and rockets are not as good once those picks them up so that they'll have a chance to get a franchise altering player. Are you surprised by how well the team is doing this year? And how far do you think they can go? I'm surprised from a standpoint of this team has been kept together. I thought that this team had a chance to be good if they did stay together. I just didn't know and I don't think a lot of people knew how long that would be. I will say this if you look at the track record of Chris Paul leading into the season. It was seven years consecutively that he'd been on a fifty winner more team. He makes teams better. If Chris Paul stays healthy. This is a team that could make an upset in the first round if they get a team like Denver in Utah and that's NO KNOCK AGAINST DENVER IN UTAH. But I think that they just match up better against those teams than they would against either the LA teams or the rockets and the basketball gods of course are going to make this thunder rocket series. So we can so. We can have the Chris Paul Russell Westbrook James Harden Chris Paul Class that we're all looking.

"But while Jordan. His friends says that Russell Westbrook was going to be a franchise guy forever but the big trade piece that they had was Paul. George is not that they wanted to trade Paul George but that was an opportunity for them to reset and when they were presented with that opportunity. By Paul George's people it signalled an opportunity for them to also go forward and Trade Russell Westbrook because if you were just left with the Russell Westbrook again it would basically be like the following year after Kevin. Durant LEFT IN FREE AGENCY. You will be starting from scratch once again trying to find pieces to fit around. Westbrook for three summers in a row that thunder tried to do that and they essentially failed because they couldn't get the right pieces around Russell Westbrook and frankly it was difficult to build a team around westward with him as the centerpiece player. So I'll goes westbrook and incomes Chris. Paul a superstar but also thirty four years old and with a massive contract. What were people saying about Chris Paul and his future after this trade? It didn't seem like he was gonna be in Oklahoma City for very long. You almost feel bad for Chris Paul. Because he's now going into basketball purgatory. I can't imagine they'll stay there long. There's no reason broke. Hold onto him as an asset but again like Paul's a guy who's hyper competitive who had been really heated high level playoff series and runs with Houston for two consecutive years. If not for an injury in the two thousand seventeen eighteen season. Don't maybe Houston wins the championship against Golden State in the Western Conference finals? They lose because Chris. Paul goes out with an injury. He's not gonNA come off the court but he is slowly to the sideline he's an James Harden kind of have a fall out in terms of style. It was an interesting experiment to see whether or not Chris. Paul could come to a team in Oklahoma City and be cooperative. Be a guy who could lead a team that didn't have championship aspirations because if he has those championship aspirations it seemed like he in the thunder wouldn't be together very long and that was something that did happen in preseason thunder did actually look to move him to try and get into another place. Overall after these trades was the sense that the thunder was really playing the long game here not necessarily hoping to compete immediately but maybe two three four years down the line. Yeah that's how you had to look at these trades because the thunder have picked they received in these days that go out to the year. Two Thousand Twenty six not to mention that. Chris. Paul's health was a question and not to mention that you had players coming back in the trade older players. That don't match the timeline of some of the younger players on the thunder's team. Twenty one year old shade. Alexander was a big piece of that trade to from the clippers. And he's a guy who you think could be a building block in a keeper. But he's twenty one to Chris Paul's thirty four so vegas kind of put it out there. In the beginning of the season they had the thunder winning thirty two and a half games as the over under so a lot of people thought. Chris. Paul either wouldn't play or would be pretty bad team but it seems like Chris. Paul saw things differently. I'm excited about team. We're going to go out to win every single night. Say unless they start playing where you can put seven other guys on the call. Eight hundred eight hundred nine five then. We're in trouble but I'm inside about what we got. I think that Chris Paul was comfortable with whatever situation was going to be presented to him whether he was traded then or whether he had to come the Oklahoma City and play. He's a competitor. No matter what situation he's in he's GonNa put in his best effort. There was a focus in Chris. Paul he also had to kind of prove to people that he was a guy who could be a team player a guy who wasn't this malcontent or this personality. That people made him out to be when he left. L. A. and when he left Houston. Let's just talk about Chris Paul for a minute you know. Everyone knows how player he is. But I think a lot of people might not realize just how much of a student of the game he is. Like for example. The Guy Watches a lot of film so even when we're not at the gym when Games come on and I'm at home at night this is my way of studying and learning people's tendencies in what plays teams like. Iran. He knows everyone's tendencies. He can do the same things within a game time and time again yet. You still can't stop it because he knows that you can't stop. Get to his spot anywhere in the mid range and score tall and if you notice he. That's his Pat Loeb late. Get to the right man. Get between the free throw line of the baseline of that Wolf today. Trump shot and when it gets time to the fourth quarter to close out a game. He's one of the best closers that you'll see in basketball.

"He did right and it went in so steps like you got me now draymond would trash talk to you and if you try to talk back you know like it right right so when chris paul shimmied on steph curry the first guy i thought of was you and unfortunately i think about you way too much time but i don't i'm going to take advantage of this and that but but i did think of the greatest trash talker in the history of the national football league my partner shannon sharpe and i wondered what you would see as the ground rules here the rules of of trash talking engagement what point do you draw the line or if somebody did it to you did you laugh did you smile did you get mad get mad our to know what i was going to have to have a game plan skip ahead isn't eating my game plan a let them get me off my game plan okay our it had an idea that you know but coach told him not to talk to me so they wanna talk to me like man y'all that y'all grown man i hear y'all coke y'all y'all can't okay both okay and then you know they couldn't let that's live scale they could not slide so i thought this was a significant moment not in just this game but in the series because you had chris paul scindia message his teammates i'm gonna shimmy right in his face and it says i ain't afraid of no two time mvp and you know and i know there is no love lost between these to start with because they've been going at it back to clippers or your days right oh nine you remember steph curry when he wore and they play in chris paul and he pulled out move on chris paul and made him fit down on his button he'd leads the jumper he deal chris paul return that favor early in the series steph curry take a seat put him on his but he's wished it so they're going to go back and forth and it's fair hey whatever you'll celebration is you do it you better believe now when i get one on you i'm gonna do your celebration on you the only thing i did not love about this was steph acknowledged it by smiling if i'm steph.

"Once he goes south he just goes completely south and the shock to me of this series is they are winning in spite of him i don't know how they're doing audibly to you imagine another superstar playing his bad as he's playing no let's just say anthony davis or lebron or any other member of the all mba i team that created the different animal because they still have plenty play steph but i can't imagine the brunt i can't imagine anthony davis playing this band and their team still winning a game against this team because it's not that they're winning games is who they're beating in winning these game yeah and yet when you least expect it pj tucker scores twenty two in a game and when i least expect it gordon makes a huge three when he hasn't shot the ball very well three and he made one with what was it one twenty two left i think that's what you yeah and it was just a huge it was the backbreaker in the end because they couldn't convert after that and so to me chris paul and rumor chris out his struggles in the postseason used to call him see zero because he had zero ranks because he'd gotten two zero conference finals and he is rising in shining in this conference finals his first because he's bringing mental and physical toughness that james doesn't always bring to this table so just his remember he chris paul was for seven in the first half last night for seven and it was forty five all at halftime and i couldn't even figure that out right and it should have been more than that you have become they had eleven point lead in the second quarter i tweeted halftime houston just dominated golden state forty five to forty five well that's what that was it i don't know how and it just keeps going like that because defense is conquering all james harden is playing defense eddie house just said that but he is chris paul really playing la shas hard defense all of them are playing defense and golden state can't score in the half court they get most of their stuff on the fly.

"Okay so right now golden state lebron's figuring out where he's going go right i think he's gonna leave cleveland so golden state in the last two years has had six series three of them sweeps and three of them five gabor's that are not competitive all right so they've had six series there either sweeping yeah or you win one game but it's mostly blowouts lebron last two years had six series three sweeps to five gamers not very competitive just swept the number one seat houston with all these new stars chris paul hardened in their prime the gm clint cappella they've had two series they won both in five and frankly they were complete mismatches they didn't even look at letty leith shooting just weren't the same level of teams and i like utah i really do and minnesota's got good players they weren't competitive so we have three teams right now that are really good and then the wherever lebron goes if lebron just chose houston and if paul george who then would not be allowed because he wouldn't fit in the cap in boston or houston or golden state if just two things happened in their possible if lebron goes to houston chris paul's is best friend i'm told it's one of the two places he's considering two or three and then paul george or colli leonard remember popovich wants to get colli to the east end up in philadelphia you will have something i've never seen for concurrent rosters stars and superstars in their prime dynasties teams capable of winning multiple multiple championships durant staff klay draymond golden state lebron harden chris paul kyri hayward tatum jalen brown and ben embiid.
