"It's. Wednesday which means our dear friend Donny meeker is joining us Danny are you there? Hello. It's so good to hear you. I missed hearing you. Yes. Today. But your back on them in. You're so sweet. So I never, ever. Take a day off unless I really have to, so on Monday, I had a really scratchy voice. Tuesday, I had to take a day off. You know those days when your body's just telling you, you just can't do it. And so I spent all day in bed yesterday. God bless miss D for jumping in and she did a solo show, Donny. They're kind of hard to do. They're very hard to do because it's just who you got to talk to. The voice is in your head, they're not responding out loud. I know I've done a few. So let's show over the years. And luckily I have a lot of voices in my head. But I sort of difficult to do. I'm so proud of mystique. She was uncomfortable like a talent first. She didn't. She offered, I didn't ask. She said, would you like me to do it by myself? And I was like, gosh, yes, I'd never have asked. But she did ask it that I knew the video I said yes, she was like, oh, now I'm going to do it. I've been in that position so many times where I always volunteer and then somebody says, yes, you're like oh gosh, now I've got to do it. But I think miss D you sounded just fantastic. And thank you, thank you, thank you for jumping in. Hey, let us jump into today's show because we've got so much gossip, what time is it my Friends? Taylor Swift is blasting a fellow artist, his name is Damon albarn. For claiming that she does not write her own songs, so I did not know this guy. I'm sorry. He's apparently a blur for Atlanta. It's a British group, and she took to Twitter to blast him after he suggested that she doesn't write her own songs. So he has apologized, but this certainly certainly blew up. He was doing an interview with the LA times, and they're talking about songwriters and the LA times actually used Taylor Swift as somebody who's an excellent songwriter. And then this is where daemon jumped in and said, well, I sort of don't agree with that because she co writes her songs and that doesn't count. Co writing is very different to writing. And I'm not going to hate him on anybody. I love it when people say that. I'm not going to hate on anybody, but which means everything I've just said. Throw away. But I'm saying there's a big difference between being a songwriter and a songwriter who co writes. What do you think? Oh, this did blow up. And the thing is, we know Taylor Swift in the music industry, Taylor Swift is a powerhouse. And one thing Taylor Swift does do and she is right she recorded her own masters. She owns her music. She means she writes it. She helps produce it. She is very hands on on the music process. So I can almost understand why here, it's another man, 'cause most women don't attack Taylor Swift. It's another man coming after Taylor Swift. Why do they keep doing this? Why do they keep doing that? Well, she responded, she said the following year, I loved it. It was very, very fierce. She said I used to be a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write all my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and actually so damaging. You don't have to like my songs, but it really is effed up to try and discredit that I don't write them. PS, I wrote this tweet or by myself. She's funny. She is funny. Now let's dig a little deeper here. Why this is coming up is a lot of artists. Don't really write anything, but they won't record your songs unless they co write them. So Madonna has a long rumored history of doing this. If Madonna's gonna sing a song as a young songwriter, if Donnie mean you write a great song, let me give it to Madonna. She's like, I will record it, but I'm gonna go write it, and she adds a few. Maybe. She didn't really write that song. So that's why this is coming up. There is a lot of really powerful artists out there. There's a legendary story. The Elvis Presley, wanted to record Dolly Parton's I will always love you, so long before Whitney Houston sang that song, a great song. Elvis Presley wanted to record it, but he said to Dali, I will only do so Dolly. If I can have your publishing, and she said, no. It's my song. It's my son, you didn't write it. It's my song so that's why this is coming up, but it's so foolish to use Taylor as an example of this because it's just not true. So we all know Adele, she postponed her Vegas residency, well now more juicy reasons are coming out as to why. So she initially said it was because of COVID. And they were having trouble getting everything set up and delivery. Well now, they're saying that a new report is a rant she was upset over a swimming pool stunt. So here's how during the show, she's supposed to stand in the middle of a pool. Which is a bit odd. But whatever. But she refused the sun reported. The intention was to fill it with water, so it looked like she was being, you know, floating above water, so as she was lifted above and a crane biblical biblical walking on. Very beautiful. Right. Was not a big fan of this basically was just like, I will not do it. So then they got into a big argument and there's also been other reports saying that she had to clash with the venue over her 60 person choir. That's not a good, that's not following COVID guys. Sexy people have a choir? None of this makes any sense to me. Before the show even went into production, didn't anyone talk to Adele? They should have sat down with her, said what do you want? You don't build a swimming pool on the stage at the coliseum in Caesar's palace. And then say, do you want a pool? You would ask before. We spend a $1 million on the poor. Get this story. Did nobody sit down with her and say, let's plan the show out. What are the songs you're gonna sing? What's your vision? You know, Katy Perry pulled off a huge show in Vegas, just a couple of weeks ago, where she actually sings while standing in a huge toilet. So she likes big production. But that just goes to show you. Even during COVID, you can pull off these huge shows. It feels like it sounds like to me, nobody sat down with the Dell. Nobody ever sat down with her and said, what do you want to do? Do you want to fly? Do you want us to pull? Do you want to sit here in a chair? Like, what do you want to do? I know artists who have worked in Vegas. And before they even sing a note, they decide what the set's going to be, what the costumes are going to be, what the vibe's going to be? Nobody did this to Adele. It doesn't make any sense. So she just turned up in Vegas, walked into the coliseum, saw a swimming pool and said I don't like it. Why would you tell him? None of it. Check out what I'm saying. I don't think it's COVID. There's drama here. There's something going on here. I think Adele was not involved. And I think she turned up a week before and was like, okay, I'll start rehearsals and then builds this huge set that she was like. She's like, where do I sit? And they're like, oh, you see that pull over there? Sweetie you're gonna be in it. She's gonna do it. But she did that fabulous concert in LA, yeah. Where was she up on the mountaintop? Now on, and just like that, Sarah Jessica Parker returns as Carrie. She's now a co host on a sex and dating podcast. She's also reeling from the sudden death of big, played by Chris Noth. Charlotte, played by Kristen Davis, is in full on mommy mode and awkwardly adjusting to the fact that one of her kids is questioning their gender identity. Cynthia Nixon's Miranda, meanwhile, has pivoted out of law and is getting a master's in human rights at Columbia. She's also a fallen out of love of Steve and is confronting an alcohol addiction. Now notably missing from this is Samantha. Because the actress can cattrall is over the whole thing and did not reunite with her costars, the show explains that the character had a falling out with Carrie and absconded to the UK. The writers also had to contend with the unexpected death of Willie garson, who played Carrey's best gay friend, Stanford blatch. Garson passed away during filming and only appears in the first three episodes. And there's a whole lot of diversity going on here. Each remaining lady gets a new non white side friend to dance around the city with. You've got to Seema Patel Cary's real estate agent turn confidant who is played by Serena chattery. There's also Lisa Todd wexley, Charlotte's fellow mommy organizer, played by Nicole Ari Parker. And Karen Pittman plays doctor Naya Wallace, Miranda's professor. And then there's Sara Ramirez as chade Diaz, who becomes someone of a lust interest for Miranda. She's Carrie's boss and co host on the podcast. Also, we should probably note, you might have noticed some NPR merch in the series NPR was asked for some podcasts related items which we provided. So we've all seen the first 7 episodes. Kristen, what are your thoughts on just like that? You just did such a good job of summing up everything there. There's a lot to love. There's a lot to sum up and a lot of it is awkward. And it is trying so hard to be inclusive. You can almost see the writers checking off diversity boxes in each episode as they go along. But let's be real, the Sex and the City characters were never about diversity. They were about sex and shoes and friendship and chasing rich white men who worked on Wall Street, so it almost feels out of character for these people to suddenly care about diversity to each want to have a minority sidekick. It feels very token Y to me. And also I just have to say, I am missing Samantha so much. Samantha added so much comedy to the show and she was also incredibly loyal. She was the best friend on the show of all the friends she was the least judgmental. She was the most loyal. She was the most supportive. And I do not buy for a second this storyline of, oh, well, Carrie no longer needed her as a publicist and Samantha took that so personally she ditched all of the Friends. That is malarkey. She was doing her work pro Bono for Kerry, and she had enough clients in Hollywood. This is nonsense..

"On all the naughties. Throwing flowers crying. This is so Betty. She's such a class act isn't she? Yeah. She just wants a private, small, funeral, that was her wishes and we will respect those. Hey moving along Valerie bertarelli, is explaining why she gave up on quote those damn scales. The Valerie said she was tired. A feeling like she was the most famous dieter in America. So after losing her first husband Eddie Van Halen to cancer in October, the 61 year old realized that she needed to focus on the stuff that really matters. She said the following quotes, the goal is to live in the moment and not according to the scale. There is no magic number that will make me feel good about myself never. She went on to say I'm done, judging myself. I want to be kinder and more accepting. I have a lot of decades of thinking I have to look a certain way for people to accept me for being me. She went on to say that she remembers as a child seeing her father treat her mother badly whenever she would gain any weight. This is heartbroken. She said I learned at a really young age that when you gained weight, you were not lovable. Yeah. That's really something. You know, so many times parents, they may not mean to. But the adults in our lives, they can do some serious psychological damage to us as children because, you know, we look to them to be our guides. And if they tell us we're not good enough because we've gained weight that does not set a good psychological profile for you as a child. So absolutely. I love Valerie, though. She's so sweet. She's so sweet. I know her a little bit. She's really, really kind. And I think she's right to become the most famous dieter in America, I can't imagine. Now she admits to she's part of the problem here because she signed up to do the Jenny Grammy on the weight watchers. I'm not sure which one. But she did sign up as their spokesperson. So she said, yes, part of this is my problem. I just don't want to do it anymore. When I lost a lot of weight, I never looked at the scale once, Cory. I didn't. I just went for a walk each day, doing the pandemic, and the way came off. And I only knew it because my clothes fit me better or I had to buy a smaller sized pan, but I think the scale is a really dangerous thing. It is. I'm not even sure what we have one in our apartment. Do you check your weight a lot you know, I'm not fanatical about it, but I do sort of do it for maintenance, just to know where I am, but it's not like a daily thing, but I know I'm in a process now of slimming down and getting my health together. And my doctor says, do not go by the scale, go buy how your clothes feel, how you look, and that's the best way. Absolutely. Don't go by that scale. I have a general sense like you. I have a general sense of my weight, but I don't look at it every day, but I think I'm the same with social media. I don't know how many followers I have to the nearest ten. Some people do. I have friends who know exactly how many followers they have, and if they lose one, they're really upset. I have a general sense, but that detail is something I don't think you should become obsessive. God bless you Valerie and her new book is coming out soon too. We have to pick that up. What's going on with Sex and the City what's happening with and just like that? And just like that, Chris north has been cut from and just like that, the finale will not feature the actor after, of course, these sexual assault allegations have permeated the airwaves over the past few weeks. Now, Chris Noth has been removed from the upcoming finale of HBO Max's and just like that. He was supposed to be in the finale. They were going to do a fantasy sequence where Sarah Jessica Parker's carry reunites with big while visiting Paris's pont dessau bridge to scattering his ashes. But according to reports, the creative team behind the show said, you know, the footage just was not significant enough to justify them saving it from the cutting room floor, so he got the chop. Of course, that still comes aligned with these people. These women. These women who have come forward in recent weeks to say that he sexually assaulted them, even though you have to say that the actor has denied the first two accusations. But that's a little weird. There's like 5 accusations. Denying them after the first two, he just shut up. But I think this statement is a little bit disingenuous too, saying that the footage wasn't significant enough isn't saying that we cut him out because going on. And so like the treading really carefully here, maybe unnecessarily so because it seems to me they don't want to upset anybody now. I should point out as well. We got a complaint that when the first episode aired. We waited a good week or so, and then we did reveal what happened. I think we gave a spoiler alert, but it's such big news. It was all over the Internet. It was all over social media. It was in the newspaper, so I felt safe doing it. But now I'm really conscious about not spoiling stuff. How long do you think you should wait, Corey? Please, one of my friends told me of for telling them the end of the Titan. Oh, yes. I know you go in there. You know how this ends, right? Well, you know, there's another dynamic too. You have to factor and I would forget I'd watch pose and me and my Friends would be on Facebook watching pose and then I forgot like my Friends on the West Coast haven't seen it because there's a difference. There's a whole other dynamic. I give it a few days. I try to give it a week, like I don't live, tweet shows because of that West Coast. But I think a week or so a week is at night TV show because there's a new episode out. Quickly before we go to break, so there's a new not quite scientific study out that's claiming. If you kiss on night one of the bachelor, you have a 95% better chance of getting your goodness. I don't know these people, but I've got to get to know these sound great. Chad and Lizzie have a podcast called game of roses and according to their calculations if you kiss the bachelor or the first night the chance of you getting a rows and making it through to the second episode a 95% oh my goodness makes sense. One of mark's Friends spotted a very, very naughty controversial celebrity out hit it, what do you know? Oh, yes, rob, so my friend is out on Tuesday night on the upper east side and she's spotted Chris Noth walking in to the restaurant she was eating at. I was told that he went straight to the bar. He looked like he had no cares in the world. He was cheerful and happy he ordered food and martinis and she did note that no one bothered him in the bar and that he looked a lot older in recent times. She thinks that maybe this is all aging him really quickly. That's interesting. Did he have anybody with him or was he by himself? He was completely by himself and no one even acknowledged that he was Chris Noth. He just was completely left by himself. Did they ignore him because they didn't know who he was or did they ignore him because they are disgusted with the accusations do you think? My friend said it was funny because she was the only person taking spy picks in the bar. She felt embarrassed that she's the only person who cared. Of course, she's your friend. Yeah, of course. But she does think that he might be a regular layer, and that's why he goes because he's a comfortable in this situation and he can just go and be discreet. With that same choice then it's like, if I had a scandal, I would probably still go to bartenders because they know me there and I could walk in and discreetly stand in a corner or sit in a corner and drink martini. So he was drinking martinis was he drinking heavily or he's a big drinker even a good days. She said he had a few and he looked like very jolly. He seemed like he was unbothered, which I thought was interesting because there were pictures of him on Christmas, like walking around lonely, just sitting on the bench in Central Park and walking by himself in the street. And so my guess is that he's going to be doing this until his wife allows him back in the home in LA if ever. It could be a long time, Mark. It could be a long time. It's just, it's so upsetting, but, of course, I believe the women, and now more and more are coming out to support what they have said and I'm not sure how Chris Nas is going to handle this, but if you do the crime, you have to pay the time. Yeah, he's also been let go CBS have fired him from the equalizer. He's on that show with Queen Latifah, he has one more episode in the can have already taped it. It'll be fascinating to see how they work in the pandemic because they can't ignore it it's new york city.
