Brought to you by the loan experts I trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific mortgage at Andrew and Todd dot com. The economy is heading in a terrible direction. It is. I'm afraid that we are heading towards something that I am coining as crash. Not stagflation. And I don't think it's going to crash immediately or overnight. I think it's going to be a kind of a slow motion car crash. Over a period of time. It's going to be happening day by day and month by month where we kind of look around and we say, wait a second. What just happened over the last year? I think it's going to be different than the 2008 financial crisis, which was abrupt and it was quick and it was dramatic. It all happened in like 45 days. It's like, wow. Bear Stearns went under Solomon went under, it's happened really quick. For those of us that lived through it. It was from kind of like September 2008 to November 1st, the entire economy cratered crashed. Smashed into a million pieces. I don't think that's going to happen. As abruptly, I think it could be as bad. But I think it's going to be a slow motion crash largely because of the amount of dollar bills. And so that is why we are calling it crash, not stagflation. You're going to have everything getting more expensive while the economy craters. It's the worst possible combination. It's bad enough to have an economic crisis, but at least when you have an economic crisis and you don't have inflation, you have some monetary levels levers that you can pull to get the economy stimulated again. But if you have an economic crash and no growth and you have a ton of dollar bills out there, which we do, then you are left with no good options. We believe this is economic destruction that is intentional. To try to reset our currency and bring us in a direction of a one world type government. We believe it's done with.

"So, catching passes from one of the game's best. All right, so key, you like Watkins to the packers? What do you think? It's interesting, Laura, and Jeff mentioned it. He's not quite devonta Adams, but he can play. He's a veteran player. You know, he was highly drafted coming out of Clemson and buffalo. He just hasn't had the type of career you would envision for a guy to go that high, but he's a veteran receiver who knows how to play football and you pair him with Aaron Rodgers, who knows what it may turn out to be. Well, listen, I think we all know that the Green Bay Packers maybe for the first time in quite some time, I think we used it one of their first round picks on the wide receiver position. As it relates to Sammy Watkins, he's what we call, he's a guy. I mean, he's a guy. He's another body in the room. Obviously he's a veteran guy, but you got to continue to add playmaker to that position. And also just on the other side, you know, we talk about Aaron Rodgers, the back MVP of this league, I need to see him elevate some of these guys that's going to be coming into that wide receiver room. Oh, that's interesting, right? A lot of people talking about how much did devonte Adams play into that MVP award. I'm not taking anything away from Aaron Rodgers like he's taking people's money away, but it is a piece of this conversation. New FanDuel fantasy players, your day is about to get 20% better. I'm gonna remind you guys of this a couple times today and why not because I'm excited. We're two weeks away from the draft in Vegas and the Jags hold that number one overall pick once again. So so far all signs pointing to Jacksonville going with defensive end 8 in Hutchinson, but is that really the plan? Our insider Chris Mortensen brought this up a fascinating scenario yesterday on our mock draft SportsCenter special. Listen to what mort says could happen at number one overall. The Trayvon walker at number three is interesting because I've actually heard that some people think Jack spills holding their cards tight and could surprise everybody on draft and take Trayvon walker number one. Let's stir that thing up a little bit. As far as thibodeau go, I mentioned to you about the Lions, but I also have heard that if the lines don't take them, we can be looking at a slide, a considerable slide that becomes one of those talks on draft night. That's what I like to call a mort Bond. Todd, let's lean into this number one pick. What are you hearing here on walker to the Jags? I love Trayvon walker. I've been saying he's the first round pick going back to October when he was on nobody's radar. He's explosive. He's 6 5, 272 pounds. He's got left tackle arm length, 35 and a half inches, and he ran a four, 5, one. I mean, running backs would kill. A lot of the running backs would kill to have that kind of speed, and he's got it at 272 pounds. But he only had 9 and a half career sacks. And I can chalk a lot of that up to the gap discipline and the steamy plate in and all the talent around him, but you compare him to Aiden Hutchinson, who had 14 sacks set his school record this past season, just in one season versus 9 and a half career sacks, and you got to wonder, and the other thing is Aidan Hutchinson is a franchise pillar. That's the kind of player he is. You've watched his preparedness pre snap. You know, he sees something that he's calling up to the rest of the defensive line just off of the tape that he studied. You watch his plan as a pass rusher. He knows exactly how he's attacking guys on the edges with his hands. I just think that he's the kind of guy you bring in and he turns the whole defense around with his leadership and his effort and his work ethic. And that's why I think when you're talking about number one overall, I love Trayvon walker's traits and he could go number two overall in Detroit, but I would be shocked if Jacksonville passes on Hutchinson. Yeah, Todd, you know it's interesting too, is if we think about who is in charge when it comes to the decision making in Jacksonville and that now is Trent balke, a general manager who, when he was with the San Francisco forty-niners, would often really covet physical traits over college resume. And that's exactly what we're talking about now with Trayvon walker. So again, I'm not saying that he goes that route here, but bulky did have a history with the forty-niners, his draft grades would often not be very high right out of the draft because people would say, wow, he really didn't take guys the projected based off of college resume. If he continues that trend, it does make sense that he would maybe go against the grain and take someone that's not as conventional with that number one overall pick. Interesting. Yeah, like for me, it's like, you know, wait a minute, guys. We're going to take a guy number one off a traits, and I get it. I get all the, you know, I get what he was asked doing that scheme down in Georgia and, you know, his combine and all those type of things. But we're talking about the number one overall pick. And we just, you know, this is the passing, we just haven't seen that out of Trayvon walker as far as rush moves counter rush moves being able to consistently get to the quarterback. We've seen that from 800%. Is he miles Garrett? No. Is he his Twitch is Nick Bosa? No. But I think just from a character standpoint, he got better and better every year, Michigan, and then ultimately, you know, came about where this guy had 14, what, 14 sex, his last year at the University of Michigan. So give me that guy who I've seen on film, do it over and over again as compared to a guy who's from a trade standpoint had what you like, but I just haven't seen that production as far as getting after the quarterback consistently. And to be clear here, we're not saying the Trayvon walker is going to fall down past the top ten. Look, I think it's very realistic as Mel has him slotted. He could go with three. He could go maybe a little bit past that, but key, do you think it's smart to bet on someone in a little bit here, which is what they would be doing with the number one overall pick? I think when you got the number one overall pick, you need a sure bet. That's a game changer, a franchise, pillar, much like the guys are saying right there. You don't hope and pray with the number one overall pick because if he becomes a bust versus a boom, it's set your franchise back forever. And if I have any reservations at all about taking Hutchinson or timba do or walker with the number one overall pick, I'm looking to get out of there, even if it's not a quarterback that somebody is going up to get. Why just pick someone just because you have the number one overall selection. I remember when I played for the jets and we had the number one overall peak and Bill Parcells. And Peyton Manning decided not to come out that year. Guess what we did? We traded the number one overall pick and we wind up being in the AFC championship game and those guys that we selected with all of those picks helped us do that and tripped bulky is a part of that Bill Parcells mindset. So I wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking that way as well. Just two things for me. First of all, I think it's interesting what more was saying too, talking about cave on thibodeau, but when you look at this, it could be the first time in decades in the draft that we see three defensive players come off the board, whether it's 8 and Hutchinson or Trayvon walker at one. I can tell you for a fact right now. Detroit would die to have the Hutchinson at number two. So they'd be thrilled if Jacksonville won with walker at one. And then at number three, Houston could take cave on thibodeaux. From Oregon. So that would be the first time in a long time that we saw three defensive players. The second thing is, is Damien woody in the middle of a monsoon. Yeah, what's going on here? Do you want to cut to D wood shot real fast? Look at this. Deep wood, is someone pouring buckets over the top.

"Eastern trade deadline and look ahead more important to the off season and all the potential quarterback movement that can take place. We'll be joined by my friend, my colleague, the great Chris Mortensen, as we do look ahead to the upcoming off season of quarterback movement that could include deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. And what are we in the NFL? It was this past week as we wrapped up, week 8 and began to look ahead to week 9. And really the transformative moments occurred Monday morning. As I was in my hotel room in Kansas City waiting to go over to arrowhead stadium for the Monday night matchup between the chiefs and the Giants. And the first call came in that there was something wrong with Derrick Henry. And the more calls that were made, the more we were able to ascertain that he had a Jones fracture in his foot. And I don't remember the last time that we had an injury in season that might have impacted a team that wasn't to a quarterback this much. But Derek Henry as it turned out did had the Jones fracture. He had surgery on his foot Tuesday morning. The chances are it's going to end his season. Now the titties are still holding out hope that somehow he could be back for the playoffs. But think about it. He's a running back. He changes direction. He's a powerful runner. He's incredible at what he does. What is going to be the rush to come back? I know fans want to see him back, but he's going to make sure, has to make sure that his foot is right for future seasons, not just this one. And so while, yes, I guess there is the outside chance that maybe he's back for the postseason. People I've spoken with don't believe that that's going to be the case. And they believe that Derek Henry has played his last down a football in 2021, which is a sobering site for Derek Henry for the Tennessee Titans for the National Football League and everyone who follows it. There was no player, no running back. More fun to watch run over people stiff arm defenders throw them around as if they were pillows and Derek Henry. Guy was incredible at what he has done, and he truly will be missed for the remainder of this season..

"News is good from Colts camp. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reporting quarterback Carson Wentz. All Pro guard went Nelson are trending toward playing in the September 12th season opener, both recovering from foot surgeries. There's one main determining factor for when in his return. Notes more this is really about a pain management issue. And Carson here the high pain threshold and yesterday, walking around the entire practice. As I said, with no boots and hardly any limp, that was a good sign and reaffirmed to me more than once at this, you know they feel better about week one.

"They give them a healthy dose of booze and some projectiles in their team loses to houston. Three nothing listened to dusty baker astros manager at the post game presser playoff atmosphere and these these fans in love with the dodgers here and they indeed lead to blue and boy it was. It was exciting though not often. But i have loved to play a game so far removed from play and this game would enjoy playing. You know it's interesting. There's a lot of talk around the astros among baseball fans steroid users. Some of them aren't in the hall. Some of these guys who cheated in this era. Even if it's in a different way should they be in the hall one day if they have the numbers to do it a guy like altoona if their suspicion that he did stuff. I would say this you normally yankees fan. I felt the yankees cheated in two thousand seventeen by the astros angry about it but the difference is not simply an issue of did players cheat competitive people will oftentimes look for an advantage and sometimes it becomes part of the culture of the game. Gaylord perry like the splitter immune the splitter a spitzer sorry. He's like reading books about how he cheated. Three hundred game winner cheating so becomes almost like to some charming kind of part of the game. These guys are all trying. You know if you ain't trying to gain cheating you ain't trion all this kind of stuff. It's not about just on principle. Who's honorable enough not to cheat. I think it's about the efficacy of the cheating. Did it actually turn these guys into better players. Now in the case of the astros. I do believe it gave them a competitive advantage in that playoff. Run against my yankees against the dodgers. I do think so but when you look at the individual players on that team those are great players like they were not turned. Maybe they were turned into marginally better players in high leverage moments which is bad by cheating in a way for which there was really no answer. If they're at home they have an elaborate system that you can't really defend against that obviously but it's not like in the height of the steroids era when you had is who never would have gotten a whiff of the hall of fame putting up hall of fame numbers for their career right. It's not just about the principal. Did they cheat. It's about the efficacy. How effective was the cheating. Did it turn them into something. They were not maybe it turn the astros into world champions when they were not otherwise but there were a bunch of pieces on the astros who would have been great players. Whether or not there was cheating. Going on the max kellerman show on espn radio and espn plus. Also on siriusxm channel eighty. Well tell you what if you missed. Today's show or any part of it. I laughing at not only his choice words but also the fact that i mean mensur. You ain't sir. Trevor lawrence that's not the takeaway here that line i. I wish i could get that. If i had any say in the home decor i would get that somewhere plastered on something and put it in our bathroom just to get a laugh. A smart and to be motivated to go attack the day. I guess a credible. It's i think it's incr- wanna line and it's also great because of the dynamic here right. Trevor lawrence is a saint. If you've ever been around a guy. He walks on water. He is he is such a pure spirit and just good guy. These words would never be uttered out of his mouth and garter mitsu has the mullet has the look as the vibe. And it's so very different ash river. I think this is awesome. He say digest competitions only going to breed a better trevor lawrence. But that linus it's epic. It's legendary. This is one of those moments where i just know. My husband will be using this line for other things in life like. He's your line regurgitate her. I'm a biter if it's good. I bite and they go all smart. People should take things they like. Okay make it a part of their vernacular fair enough all right. Let's get to a little bit of breaking news. Now in terms of shawn watson and the houston texans so after initially insisting they would not trade deshaun watson the houston. Texans have shifted their stance on the quarterbacks trade availability. The texans have been willing to field offers from interested teams. This is according to sources that confirmed this to espn. Sarah barshop the club already has had preliminary discussions with other teams about watson watson reported to training camp sunday. But the texans don't feel they have received yet a very serious offer. What might that offer be well according to. Espn's chris mortensen. The texans price for to shawn watson has been a combination of five five high draft picks and starting caliber players to reiterate that would be five high draft pick so we're talking first roundish and starting caliber players in addition to draft capital. And that's according to two league executives and according to chris mortensen. Yeah i i could ride with five. High draft picks. It's the and in a chris mortensen report and he's gathering this as it says per to leak executives. It's the at the additional starting caliber players. Where i'd just go. 'cause i'm looking at aaron rodgers. Who's not nearly in the position in their career. Because you're talking about the prime to sean watson's career to is really getting going if he's able to be in uniform given what's going on but you're talking about it along to aaron rodgers playing high level football and yet still i think aaron rodgers because he's a reigning. Mvp shows. you could still do it. I look at that and say a combination of five. High draft picks probably aaron rogers. So i guess they're looking at the age discrepancy here too and saying because the younger but he had cheated. What what air rogers's cheap so. I don't know how you throw in and starting caliber players. It's a high tag. But i guess it's just their starting point. Are we really going to be training to shawn watson. miss all the investigation. Nobody's gonna trade for desha player. There's clearly news about it so clearly there are. There is rumblings about it amongst different organizations and throughout the tax. The texans building house make you feel even be talking about it. Annoyed like quite frankly annoyed having this conversations about what you're going to give up or get for shawn watson right now on. There's twenty two pending investigations. Can we get to the bottom of those first and then we can imagine that. The car doesn't go before the horse. It will be figured out in that way as you're asking for no doubt okay. There's we've mentioned aaron rogers. What about aaron rodgers. There's really only two realistic scenarios in the end for a ride..

On the shawn watson story we had you brought up the perez pelous. Tom perez cero tweet. That they're asking for at least three first round picks. That's what it was right at least three picks so chris mortensen has added onto that he says the texans price has been some combination of five high draft picks plus starting caliber players. Get five picks and start again. I get it. They ask for the moon and then you go from there but that seems a little shoot for the moon. at least you'll fall amongst the stones. Yeah five picks plus starting caliber players almost like they are totally discounting all the stuff that has gone on this off season. Yeah i don't know..

"That rocket mortgage can let's head to the phone lines right now, Before we get back to your phone calls, Let's talk to Matt Verte Ram of fans side It will talk to him about the news in the NFL and also a Super Bowl 55 man. How's it going, My man? I'm great. How are you? Let's start with Carson wins. I'm sure you saw by now. The Albert Breer tweet that that the Eagles are warning the same compensation that the lines got for Matthew Stafford, But that seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Yet insane. I e. A team that gives the Eagles that kind of compensation every damn the league gonna call that team up and see what they could get some of their cast offs. Eagle. Don't want Carter like they want to move him. It's clear as day. That's been clear well before there's a report from Adam Schefter, Chris Mortensen, he wanted him gone. They want her to be the quarterback moving forward here to what you can do. So you see what you're doing You a favor by taking cartoon like something you could rebuild it. If you can figure things out nothing that's impossible. But There's no way I'm getting one person out. Pick isn't larceny, let alone two I think that it seems like the Jets and I would understand it. From this perspective, they pick 23. So have you got a back half first round pick for Carson wins, and you're willing to sort of bet on the future that not too long ago. He was one of those guys who was an M V P candidate looked like a potential franchise quarterback, and it's still under 30 years old, that if you could get him the right structure and right coaching And a defense like we think they're going to be able to build in New York with their new head coach, You could turn things around. I'm with you. I wouldn't feel comfortable trading a first round pick for Carson Wentz, but I also think that sort of the price of doing business if you want to trade for a quarterback in the NFL. The only thing that I could realistically make the argument for my eyes like, okay, I get it is Indianapolis. Because right was there when they when they won the Super Bowl, And that was the year of course, once got Hurley. They're having a 50 year. You talk to people around the league, so people really feel like no right was the coach. Who had the biggest hands and developing once that year, along with the Filippo. Um So I get this little fellow is Chicago, Which is why Chicago is going so hard after one No one to look their attacks, but they know that if it doesn't work next year Oregon and souls isn't the answer. It's rubbish. He's gone, so I had it for me. The Bears That's looking anything like I just I don't see, like right, at least in Indianapolis. The buck stops with him. He's the guy. We're if people just gone ahead and there's a lot that's moving, plus. I think you need to hear the colt. I get it. You may You may need a little something back. Well, if you're gonna go over first, maybe won't sanction like a third or fourth round pick too. But that one I get these other teams. I just I can't stop giving a pervert round pick for a guy. It was so terrible defensive. They would think that soon enough. I don't understand that. Let's keep it with quarterbacks before we transition to the Super Bowl. What did you make of the lines and ram straight? I'm a little bit frustrated with the timing of it, So I got off the air two minutes prior to the deal being done, so I didn't get a chance to talk about it last week. What did you make of the lines and ran straight? It's a great trade from behind and I don't heat it to the ranch. But he was online who are clearly a rebuilding team. You get a cop 100 pick this year Grasses third round, popping under picked another another chess piece, and then you get two first round picks. I don't love God, I think you can average quarterback, but that's not terribly You're the lions. It gives you some stability, right? Like you bring him in. He maybe convene the birds here, Except that it is John Dorsey. Not that torture was not Driving force he brought Holmes was who's the new GM control for the raft? Dorothy over saw something where you know they brought it out of Smith in Kansas City. In the beginning, Alex Smith was maybe not going to be the guy who got him over the hump. But it came in your professional gives him some stability. I could be costing in that guy's head for the ranch standpoint. You're better today. The problem. I have it, and I know there's a big argument about something all sides of a valid one. Is a major product. You don't have a first round pick for seven straight years of all the people who say Well, it doesn't matter if you're getting good players. It doesn't matter when you're capped out to the hill because you're paying six guys 65% of your salary cap. Then it match and the Rams. I look at them. Are they better? Yes. Are the Super Bowl favorite stuff, But I don't have the best team. No division, so I Kate, but I don't like it as much for the ranch. I love it for Detroit who's clearly looking toward the future anyway? No, you and I are in the same place, at least when it comes to the Lions. I mean, I don't think the golf contractors may be as bad as some people think that it is. I mean, you were already going to be paying staff for your only locked in for two more years and with the future compensation, So this year, you understands going to be a lean year. The lines they've been having lean years for as long as we can remember, But if you look forward mean if you got four first round picks in two years You can, in theory, go get your quarterback, So if there's a quarterback that comes out in these next two years, there's nothing stopping you from having the ammunition to go up and go get that guy. Correct. You couldn't be bad in all likelihood. And you're gonna have a lot of big time draft out. Here's everything. That's what's been hurt the last couple years and he played all the games. Your views hurt. What's to say he doesn't get hurt again with the Rams and the rands or 6 10. I mean that that could be a top contact. I'm not saying idea would but sounds and 2033 years old. He's gonna end up pretty significantly the last couple seasons. I mean, I need most seasonally. You're one quarterback interview away from being in the top 10 top 12 territory so The little white. Even it's not even about the pig in the mid twenties. Fine. So pick you have all this ammunition now. You can go out and and and they move with, so I think But I like it a lot before they weren't wearing any with Stafford. Anyway, it might as well be younger. Get get some pics..

"Set on it. And once you're dead set on it. We've seen this from other athletes. You're gone. Just like you have no interest. The same. Once you're gone, you're gone. Once you put in that trade, there's no rescinding it. There's no making up. I can't think of one case. Where a guy has formally requested a trade and stayed with his team. I literally can't think of one. Which is it doesn't Work that way. So the Texans can say all they want and they can hold out for a long time. Eventually they're gonna have to pull the trigger hair and trade to Shawn wants in. And while there are The vast majority of NFL teams that would take to Shawn wants in as an upgrade to what they currently have. I think that the list is is smaller. I think you're Looking at, and this is how I want to talk about. Like if I was in one of these other markets, then Yeah, I would try toe. Keep the dish on. Watson Talk alive. But since the Broncos air on this list, we don't have to do that. We can cut out anybody else We want to. Jets, which there are reports from Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen. That just wrong. Watson does not want to go there. Don't blame Now there's another report out of Florida, saying that dish on Watson's people Um Have basically that West Swamp Out, Get rid of Atlanta jets, Dolphins Carolina Denver, San Francisco That's reportedly to Sean Watson's List. So if you're the Broncos, look, you're in the game. You're in the game. Play the game trying to get it done. You owe nothing to Dirac. And for all this talk about the Broncos need to bring someone in to push. Trulock. Well, how about the Broncos publicly going after dish on Watson? Or Matthew Stafford, whether they get them or not. Went that do the trick. You know this idea that they Bring in a better backup quarterback and drew lock all of a son. Everything's gonna click because he's got that pressure. Don't buy it. But if you think that that's the case, I bet the same amount of pressure will be put on him if his team was publicly Going after one of these two guys. As far as Matt Stafford is concerned. I think Denver is San Francisco. There's some overlap. I think both of those teams would Would and could trade for Matthew Stafford. I think the other teams will be New England Washington Indianapolis The Broncos have the ultimate trump card. They got a top 10 pick. I don't think they want to deal it. What they could end all of this right now. If that's what they offer. I think they look and I don't necessary. I'm not saying that the Broncos need to end this now. I'm not saying Give the lions whatever they want, Negotiate. If they offered the ninth pick, which I think they should. I think he's worth it. I shouldn't say I think they should. They should negotiate and they should see if they don't have to part with the ninth pick. Because if you don't, then don't You don't have to, then don't do it. No, don't come in with your best offer on day one. I'm that's perfectly fine. I'm just saying he's worth it. He's worth it to the Broncos with the state they're in. He is worth it. To the Broncos to give up the ninth pick, But if they don't have to, then don't Will be quite the coup for George Payton to be able to bring in Matthew Stafford and maintain a top 10 pick. Think that'd be huge. But the Broncos are kind of in this weird spot that they have the ultimate trump card in the ninth pick, but if they're not willing to deal that We're going to have to ante up. Multiple picks. Because New England Washington Indianapolis They give up a first round pick. In a heartbeat. For Matthew Stafford. So if the Broncos are gonna offer their first round pick We're gonna have to get creative with the number of picks that they give two seconds. Two seconds might be the first In some cases. Specially like an indie. Washington.

"We're shading Jordan Cornett. And right Now we're bringing Chris Mortensen, the ESPN NFL insider. He joins us on the Goodyear Hotline. Good afternoon to you more, and I know there's a lot of football going on. But there's also a lot of news going on. So it seems like over the last two weeks, we've heard that the Shawn Watson has been unhappy in Houston. And now it sounds like there's a real possibility that he could be wearing a different uniform next year. What is the latest that you know about to Shawn Watson and his relationship with the Houston Texans? You are cool it That there have been a lot of reports about John being unhappy and the unhappiness really connected more centrally to the process. The Texans have been going through. And finding a new general manager and then you head coach. Now they have found a gentle managers. You know, Nick, a stereo. I went to Syria was named. That's when you started to hear about these reports really getting kind of percolating because the sound, Watson Well, he was assured by management and owner comic near that he would be kept in the loop. And you know they would seek is bouncing things off about the process. We went this week in which then detections hired Nick hysteria who's very qualified for that job. But did not interview Eric the enemy. Who is the Chiefs offensive coordinator and who was readily available interview this week is the she said the bye week. That said, set him in a way that this is not a franchise that I am pretty sure I don't want to be involved with now. You have new contract $156 million that kicks in this year. It's four years he has a no trade clause. They are adamant right now, Basically, if you read different reports that they're not gonna trade him, But watching can try to play hardball and me and Adam Schefter both understand he will play hardball. This is a change of heart. Force his way out now, okay? Where would you want to force your way out to Miami? Brian Forrest. Chris, career head coach GM of the Dolphins. Those if you put that the preferred destination, how do you execute such a thing if it unfolded and we had called this informed speculation? From somebody close to Washington. So want to keep it like that Well to a tongue goodbye at all with somebody that we understand that they sections hold in high esteem. But he also knows Houston needs compensation. So would it. It would have involved to a plus, Um More compensation for Houston because someone wants is established himself as the top five quarterback now. Are you really lifting hard news? He got happy. News that he very rightly wants out. Still raw. We still a lot of months left in the off season and the part about to, uh, would be informed speculation is done his preferred destination if he forces his way out, and that the two sides of political cooperate So that blurs the lines a little bit. I understand. More. Is there any chance for an 11th hour reconciliation here like maybe in the higher potentially a head coach deems fit for approval from a guy like Tucson Watson here where he goes. Okay, We can make this work or do you get the vibe that this is just a matter of when he moves. No. I have to say I've always really liked to say that Nothing can be picks. I mean, yeah. So, I mean, this certain can be repaired down there with protections. Decide. It doesn't matter what you want. We've committed a lot of money to you. We commit. A lot of draft takes to go up and get you in 2017. So when we're not gonna trade you and he could do what he wants to do. What's interesting is that we have an off season where Because it can damage still, we may not. We may not have a normal offseason, so you know him not showing up or something? I wouldn't necessarily Uh, the that much different than what last year was, except is gonna be what and you, head coach in place. And so that's why I think that head coach piece is a big piece, but I won't say it can't be repaired. But I will say that We should not be surprised if this story has Strong legs, strong legs that end up with some type of Uh, Deal which watching goes elsewhere, say Miami. And if that happens, we know that then do it have to be part of that package, but I really don't know, because I was like, that's actually last situation that's been covered. A lot of different sports was like, Hey, this is done. This relationships over boom can't be fixed. And then next thing you know, two months later, it's fixed. Yeah, talking to Chris Mortensen Right now, ESPN NFL insider. He's joining us on the Goodyear hotline or let's go to Philadelphia. So it's a week ago or so we had heard that Doug Peterson was confident he would return is the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. But now it seems like his status. Is not firm. What's the latest with Doug Peterson in Philly? More? You know, even even after even last week after meeting with Jeffrey Larry, the team's owner, You know you heard that a destination? I've got some things to settle. It didn't seem quite as extreme. As You know, Peterson could still be fired. I don't like silver from NFL Network, You know, kind of Talked about that Peterson future was unsettled. But as the week grew on, and when you really ask questions is Peterson saved?.

That are inactive today, even though there are seven playoff spot still up for ground play here in weeks, Supercup testing positive for covert 19 Alright Arizona, taking on the Rams, and probably without legendary wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, OK, Mark Robinson Zahra SportsCenter anchor he is reading. We just said Could you just please read the list? Players who are inactive because it's a three hour long list. We'll continue to check back in with him. Pittsburgh will be without cornerback Joe Hayden. Testing positive for over 19. He could miss the first round of the playoffs. Okay, Thank you, Mark. Fucking continue Check back in with him over the next 90 minutes here on ESPN radio. Maybe the court nets will want to do it as well of their three Brits later on today, way know that a lot of players a lot of teams are gonna be without certain players today. Will Philadelphia Eagles be without Carson wins? Moving forward, according to ESPN, Chris Mortensen. Now they surprise. But the report comes out today that Carson Wentz is going to ask for a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, saying that the relationship Is fractured at this point, none of those statements anyone would quibble with at this point. The question is, what do you do with that contract? There are reports out there that hey, if if they trade him They actually save cap space right? Because of the way the finances work. You're actually saving close to a million dollars in cash space. If you know he's not the answer, moving forward or if you've made that decision, then you have to get something for him. Question is, who's going to help take on part of that contract with when you trade him? And how do those financials work? Both sides are going to have to come to an agreement with that. But first they have to come to an agreement of whether or not he is the answer. Whether or not he's the answer for the Eagles, which it appears he is not. And whether or not that situation is tenable, which it appears it is not so the only option right now is to treat It's all very complicated yet trading Training him makes sense. If you can find somebody who wants it. It's not as if he's had this incredible campaign that's made a team like you know, I don't know San Francisco that said they move on from Garoppolo, another team in the NFL. That makes them say, You know what? We should definitely go after Carson Wentz. He's the answer because he's played so poorly, so he put it. He's put himself in a really, really bad spot. The salary cap will take a hit because of the pandemic. If you trade him, it's still a $33 million dead cabinet. If you release him, it's a $59 million dead cab hit. There's got not on your team costing you $59 million against the cap, so there are a number of financial elements in this that they have to figure out. And then where does he go? Because Matt, The bigger question to me is who looks at Carson wins this season, it says. Yes. That's my starting quarterback. If he thinks he's going to just walk into a situation and he's not gonna have to compete for the job, That's where you're gonna have a problem of Carson Wentz because what he's shown over the last three weeks with Jalen hurts. Is that he's going to make a mess in your locker room. If he doesn't get his way. That's the consequence. We're seeing now a guy who was expressing his frustration and thinks that he's still a start in this league, but any NFL team that he goes to will make him prove that and we'll put him up against another quarterback to earn that job..

NFL mulls 16-team playoff scenario, sources say
"Tell you what. Let's just make that a playoff game instead. The nfl comp competition committee expects to present a resolution owners that includes a sixteen team playoff scenario. In the event games are lost because of the coronavirus. Pandemic league sources told the espn's. Chris mortensen the contingency plan which could become more likely as a bi weeks. Disappear would feature eight playoff teams from each conference so right now. We're doing what seven. Just put them all in then right. Just throw them on. So we're doing seven already and that is now that's gonna be the norm. The new normal. That's going to be seven on each side so we're already there one. Get one team that gets a bye on both sides. The nfc and afc so there we are. Now you're wanting to add another one so when we go back to adding the buys for the top two teams again. Is that what we would do at this point the contingency if necessary. Here's your answer would take four division champions and four wildcard teams from the afc and nfc. The plan would be one verse eight so no buys one verse eight to verse seven three six four verse five. Nfl team owners already approved the plan. In march to expand as we talked about the postseason to fourteen teams beginning this year that plane increase the number of wildcard teams per conference to three up from

Patriots sign QB Cam Newton to replace Tom Brady
"Cam noon has found a new home with none other than the New England patriots. While, this was a place that many people had suggested and thought about after his I think it was yeah. You least obviously after release. There was no. We figured if it was going to happen, it would have happened already, but I guess the pages take time. Do they do diligence? Make sure in fact that he was healthy 'cause he looks I mean some the work. Suppose he looks healthy, but you don't really now When Negga said there was no rush. It was like all right. He's a free agent. There's someone else assign. They can but if not, then we'll just be able to wait it out and I guess after once you saw how the dominoes kind of played out and says he didn't go to. The grisly inaugurnat the grizzlies while. That the chargers, the ninety plan the same town, so like that weird was say with with the chargers since he didn't sign there. was like honestly, where else was he? Never said that he wouldn't be better than some of the starting quarterbacks that are currently with their teams, but is when you look around and see. At look at the potential starting spot. That would be available this season. Every really want that many out there after again after his release, Efi begin the preseason beginning all season. MIROSLAVA different but. Time he got released. It was like there was only so many places he could go in. New England was one of them, though is one of those things where it was like you were just. Confused just because if you thought that he was gonNA, they were GonNa do it. You thought they would have done it already. But again took their time and he's still got the deal done. If. That was the guy that they wanted so. Cam noon again as I said reached a one year incentive, laden deal with new pages lead sources told ESPN ESPN Chris Mortensen Adam Schefter. Be Mixed with Jarret Stidham Brian Hoyer. To Rabih the I. Don't think necessarily be the heir-apparent only one year. So who knows you can be their past the season? But. Potentially these bridge the gap to the air pair. Of Tom Brady with with new, England.

NFL Live
Cam Gets Signed
"Well there was big news coming last night. Courtesy of our Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen former MVP cam. Newton is a free agent. No more instead Newton is heading to new. England to join forces with bill, Belichick and follow in the footsteps of another MVP Tom Brady. And Cam Newton's cryptic fashion. He had this to say the instagram. I'm excited because I know what right now all praise to God dropping contact tomorrow. I hope you're ready Hashtag. Let's go pat. And so now we know, and we'll start with Adam Schefter, and our health hall of Famer. Steve Young One one. Just tell us how we got here. How did this deal get done? Listen I think it took Cam Newton a little bit of time to recognize that there was not a thirty plus million dollar a year job on the market when you released two weeks into the free agent signing period not only that there's not an obvious starting job that's out there, and so the longer this went on, and the less he heard from teams, and there really was nobody that he heard from the more he recognized that he had to find the right spot. And if you're going to find the right spot, there's nothing wrong with taking new. England Riga tour with Bill Belichick and Josh mcdaniels, and the new quarterbacks coach Jed fish in an offense. That obviously is going. Going to be trying to replace Tom Brady where you're competing with the guy like Jarret, Stidham hasn't proven that he can play yet in the NFL and so cam. Newton goes to New England on a one year deal where he gets to reestablishes value show that he's healthy, and over the shoulder and foot injuries that he has been dealing with the last two years, and this is the the place that he now tries to relaunch his NFL career at the age of thirty one, which should be most quarterbacks, the prime of their career, no question and Adam. How likely is it that this is in effect? A one year auditioned for Cam to be with the Patriots beyond this season. Wendy what I would say is this if Cam Newton plays well, the Patriots obviously would be interested in resigning him, and if not, they have the ability to move on from him. It depends on how the year goes. It's difficult to forecast that right now. All we know is that the Patriots signed a former. Most Valuable Player who won that award in two thousand fifteen, who has tremendous ability who goes into this offense, and now we'll have to learn it, which is not going to be an easy task in a shortened off season for put as the ability to be dominant quarterback. If he can pick up that system if he plays that way, you would think that no one would not let him out. Out, the door, but again there's a whole year. They WANNA see Newton. They WANNA see them. They want to see a year goes to. It's truly to say that just yet well. Yeah, I mean a lot can happen in a year. We've all we've all seen that in Steve. How do you like the fit between cam? Newton and what he brings on the field and the New England patriots. When healthy. Rusted Cam Newton mean it's like. Manna from heaven right I mean in many ways I, think Josh, mcdaniel and Bill Belichick sitting around a lot of times. Saying. Could you imagine what we could do with this guy or that? Guys? They play these players. Run the League, and they see them in places where I'm sure they say because they're supreme of conference. Not Hubris just supreme confidence that if we could get a hold of him what we could do with him, and we can really expend on what you're seeing around the league. What we can do is special, and so I'm sure they're saying this about. If Cam comes in his foot is okay. Because we know the arm is all right, we should. We saw that early last year before. So. We know that he's healthy. If his what is good and he can move, you've got. Hungry. Sophisticated and the type caliber Blair in New England, where you have bill and Josh saying you can't imagine what we're GonNa, do with this kid and so I think that's I. think that's the conversation. That's happening right now. New England, Steve. Look it's anybody's guess at this point, but you. You have an opinion very qualified one. What do you believe the likelihood? Is that Cam Newton? Is the Patriots Starting Quarterback Week One? Again if healthy, if he can move around, I can't imagine them with his talent level, and what they think they can do them again. It becomes a you know it's a proof point for what they're out to show their out to show that we can do special things with special players, and so it's it becomes A. A right of passage to be in New England, and that we can take somebody, and we can show you amazing things that can be done and they've done that with flair after play after player so Cam Newton and healthy can move around. I. It's GonNa be, too. It's like a gravitational force when it's to special to be able to show what they can do with a great Cam Newton. Yeah,

Chargers, Melvin Gordon And Ten Million Dollars discussed on SportsCenter AllNight
"Time Joseon adders are reporting the agent for Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has requested a trade because charges are not backing off their offer of ten million per season which represents a roughly twice the salary schedule to make in the final year of his rookie deal they remain at a record you know not wanting to report because he feels like he's valuation is higher than ten million when you have to put that in the context knowing that Todd Gurley right now is what at fourteen point three lay beyond del thirteen one David Johnson at thirteen million my understanding is that the comp that in being out there right now is that David Johnson and Melvin Gordon are similar in terms of how they should be paid and they are definitely still at a gap between those numbers and so right now he's going to stay out until the situation gets resolved nice of Gordon toll charges that if he does not receive a new deal that's acceptable obviously he'll sit out demanded trade he's followed through on both threats Louis Riddick Damien woody Chris Mortensen with insight on how this plays out in if Gordon has any leverage in this hold out he doesn't have the leverage because the charges obviously feels so his replacements is number two or number three players like Austin Meckler Justin Jackson will give them enough of a of a level of production a percentage of production may not equal what number will give them enough to where they have enough other weapons on the field to make up the difference and they're just going to go with the you know one year at a time type of philosophy and if he doesn't like it then they're gonna trade I think he's out on the football team before the regular season starts and hopefully he can find that one suitor who not only is willing to pay a high price to get him but is also willing to pay him long term which is what he's after after lands a former running back and running back coach and the one thing I know by if the land he's very confident that he can find another running back you mention it already the fact that Philip rivers in the last year for the of Joey Bosa is coming up they have players in the pipeline so to think that Melvin Gordon's going to get you know the levy on bail early heard Todd Gurley absolute because are guaranteed a lot of people looking to toggle the contract and is like wool we don't want any part of that so okay Melvin Gordon is in a situation where he's not gonna get paid by the Los Angeles Chargers and more likely he's going to be sued no with another team actually ten million dollars is the charges off and that's kind of where the value him and they do have other contracts to get done and they're not a cash rich team we've established that for different reasons that without getting into details Melvin Gordon's only played one full season out of a source for any is a good back is he an elite back you can argue one way or the other but the bottom line is the charges are going to get permission for Bilbo is represented to go get a trade they want to control the situation he's not levy on bills he has a contract levy on bill did not have a contract last year so it's not a similar situation ten million dollars is the charges off and that's kind of where the value him and they do have other contracts to get done and they're not a cash rich team we've established that for different reasons that without getting into details but Melvin Gordon's only played one full season of the source for any is a good back is he in the league back you can argue one way or the other but the bottom line is the charges are going to get permission for Bilbo is represented to go get a trade they want to control the situation he's not levy on bills he has a contract levy on bill did not have a contract last year so it's not a similar situation ultimately I think the charges feeling and we talked about this yesterday and make your Damian Moore and and the lens perspective is they do fill like if necessary if gore insanity assigned eventually then you can put them on the market as a team it is the one with the agent do the shopping Eric Williams covers the Chargers for ESPN provided this take on why the charger should find a resolution with Gordon if they have aspirations to make a run in the playoffs he was on Spain and company yeah I mean it's basically a stand off at this point you know Gordon wants to be paid amongst the highest running backs normally he thinks his his statistics over the last couple years point to that he should be pay you know like David Johnson girly let me del the Chargers obviously disagree on that date they are pricey them again according to reports and and I believe they're accurate about ten million per year you mean another structure the contract how much of that is guaranteed how much that is fully guaranteed when he would receive that type of money so those are things that are going on in terms of negotiations to try to get Melvin in the camp I did the things that are promising if both sides want to get a deal done Melvin Gordon wants to play for the charge the Chargers want Melvin Gordon the place so you would think at some point there there would be a compromise that could be made to get Mel in the camp because he remains to be seen you know Melvins representation that told the Chargers that you know that they would demand a trade at the contract demands aren't aren't made the charges are willing to trade him they basically haven't control for the next two to three years due to make five point six million in the following years rookie deal and they get franchise in another couple years no but it is important in terms of where the charge you want to go in the post season they can win games without knowing the crew that last year they want **** when no one was injured the issue is is can they want simple without melon and I think the answer probably is no and so I think that does give me a little bit of leverage yeah well he might want to look Gordon at levy on bell scenario the now jets running back doesn't second guess himself for sitting out last season a decision that cost them fourteen million in salary he did say you wish you could have told fantasy owners some type of way to not draft him or pick him never made it on the field

Russell Wilson gives deadline for Seahawks deal
"News from the world of football word out of Seattle. That Russell Wilson has given the Seahawks a deadline for a new deal. He's giving the Seahawks until April fifteenth. Although sources telling our Adam Schefter talks between the two sides are really not thought to be too far along ESPN insider, Chris Mortensen with our sage Steele. You do the math. Exactly thirteen days to meet. Russell Wilson's deadline. What are the chances that this thing gets done by his deadline chances are slim and could complicate some things, but remember April fifteenth started the offseason program phase threes OTA's, that's when you get on the field and start working. So listen deadlines make things happen and made his last contract that he's four years. Eighty seven million dollars in two thousand fifteen happened. Gatien counts twenty five million dollars against their cat. They'll have twenty million twelve million dollars cap space. So they'll have to get creative. And I think it'll take some time I would expect it gets done by the start of training camp or or certainly during that period there if it gets done by April fifteenth, and they're miracle workers. And the thing about is thinking about Aaron Rodgers contract ninety eight point seven million guaranteed and thirty three point five average. So I think Russell Wilson we will be shooting north of that regardless of what Rogers regardless of a deck Prescott gets when the Cowboys one hundred million dollar type of contract. You don't see going tracking on and mean, Russell Wilson. It's not going to hold out not play this season. I do not. Mentioned April fifteenth first day of the Seahawks off season

Saquon Barkley inks $31.2 million rookie deal with Giants
"Do you NFL training camps rolling out this week. In earnest we had a terrible, story yesterday, Minnesota Vikings offensive, line coach Tony Sporanos died unexpectedly at the age of. Fifty six the team made a shocking announcement. Yesterday afternoon Sparrow had complained about chest pains and went to the hospital. On Thursday a source, tells ESPN's Chris Mortensen Speranza underwent tests and was released. On Friday the source. Said Sperone his wife found him unconscious yesterday morning as they prepared to leave for church but could not. Revive him he was the assistant and assistant with the Minnesota Vikings for the past. Two seasons he worked for nine NFL teams over nineteen years with head coaching stints in Miami and on an interim basis with Oakland Raiders in two. Thousand fourteen he also held positions with the Browns with, Washington Jacksonville Dallas San Francisco and the New. York Jets and you may remember one of the better single season coaching jobs in, recent memory two, thousand eight the. Miami Dolphins remember they got Chad Pennington who was basically Discarded after the jets got Debretts farve there was this obviously the, the, the, New England Patriots have been a dynasty in the. AFC and have owned the AFC, east the, Miami Dolphins in, two thousand eight with Chad Pennington lost their first two. Games and then won eleven of their next. Fourteen coming off a year where they went one in fifteen that eleven. And five season for, the Miami Dolphins in two thousand eight is the only. Year in the last. Fifteen that the patriots didn't win the division and that eleven and five season is the only time in. The history of the National Football League that a coach led his team to the. Playoffs after his team won one game or less the previous year did a fantastic job with that Miami team in reading number of the tributes from. Players who played for him not just in Minnesota but, also Miami and other spots a devoted family. Man his daughter apparently just got married two weeks ago four grandchildren and so the, NFL world mourning, the loss of. A longtime assistant and head coach Tony spurlock Meanwhile in Canada Johnny Manziel has been traded can't play for the Hamilton tiger cats can't get on the field so they have traded him to the Montreal Alouette according to a TSN and reunites him with a familiar face Mike Sherman coach Manzella Texas a. and m. during his redshirt freshman season of two thousand eleven that was sherman's final season coaching the aggies I don't follow a ton of CFL football but the Alouette severity tried three different quarterbacks they have the worst offense in the l. so maybe Menzel is actually going to get a chance to, play that chance did, not exist with the Hamilton tiger, cats Johnny Manziel is. In Montreal and you're hearing time and again about, you know. What are the big issues between players and owners in the NFL is players one, guaranteed, money Owners aren't willing to give, it to them But they can look no further than the second pick in this year's draft saquon Barkley the New York Giants according to NFL media's Ian Rapoport are. Set to sign Barclay to his. Rookie deal that'll pay him thirty one point two million. Dollars guaranteed a four year deal fully guaranteed now rookies obviously have a lot less wiggle. Room than they did pre two thousand eleven the new CBA basically dictates with these guys are going to get the deal comes with, signing bonus of just over twenty million dollars and there's apparently, offset language that will keep Barclay from quote double dipping in the event of the giants. Cut him before the end of the contract and also it's worth pointing out that New York holds, the fifth an option for a fifth year which, is the case for all first round picks but it goes to show an Zeki l. fully. Guaranteed deal from the Dallas Cowboys didn't. Payments much money didn't go. As early in the draft. Is partly did there's a sticking point there Players and. Owners players want more guaranteed money owners don't want to give it to him but anecdotally they can Kirk cousins free agent Minnesota fully,.
