Arizonans 65 and older will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting next week
"This hour we took you live to the Arizona Department of Health Services Update on the covert 19 vaccine distribution. We had some technical difficulties, but we have those resolved and we want to bring you now. The rest of that briefing with all the details. Here's Dr Carol Chris, director of our State Health department. So now provide some updates on covert 19 vaccine and implementation of our program here in Arizona. One of the exciting updates that we made today. It is not this week that is not reflected on our chart. It will not be reflected until Tuesday, but Arizona made the decision that Arizonans 65 8 years of age and older are now prioritized. To be vaccinated against covert 19 in our prioritized phase one be along with our education and child care services and our protective services occupations, which includes law enforcement, corrections and fire. This recommendation was approved by the Arizona Vaccine and Antiviral Prioritization Advisory Committee, which is intended to protect those who are most at risk for severe outcomes due to Cove in 19. So we know that those there are over the age of 65 have all higher likelihood of hospitalization and death, and by be getting people vaccinated in several weeks from now we hope to reduce the strain on Arizona's hospitals. And you can find additional information on our website at easy Health. Doc Dub slash find vaccine. And on Tuesday, we will be updating that to provide clarity about which counties are going to be vaccinated the 65 to 74 year old age group at their vaccination sites. We also have counties that have moved into our prioritized. Phase one B and we have some that are fully in phase one B. So if you look at the map of Arizona, the counties that Aaron Black are still in phase one A. So does our healthcare providers and our long term care facility, residents and staff. When you look at our darker gray, that's the prioritized phase one be, so that's going to be the face that we just talked about. Currently. We are vaccinating age 75 older. Along with educators and child care and their support staff and our protective services occupations. When we increase to one be that also includes our Sent can keep our society functioning. That will be people who work in the transportation industry, including gas stations, shipping those types of things. The food industry, including agriculture. S so there's a large number of there's a large list of employees that are eligible for the one B category that is located on our website. Um But you can find out what what phase Each county is in, and we update this infographic daily, and you can link to it off of easy health. Doc Club slash find a vaccine. As of today, over 232,000 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide. So now we'll move into Arizona's vaccine allocation and administration. Over the next few weeks, A DHS will be working to increase access to vaccine increase the rate of vaccination into streamline communications. So as you look at the vaccine, I'm distribution overview. Arizona currently follows a local Allocator model for vaccine distribution. Our local part partners are the backbone of the vaccine program implementation and know their counties that are no they're partners and their counties the best so our federal partners every week provide our Arizona's allocation to the state. We divide that allocation of based on priorities to our local partners, who then will determine which providers in their local jurisdiction will receive that scene for that week. We collect all of those orders on Ben. We place Arizona's full order for that week, and then the federal government will ship those orders directly to the providers that we have ordered on behalf of as vaccine becomes more and more available. We will no longer need to use this local Allocator model and providers such as pharmacies, community health centers and physician's offices will be able just to directly order vaccine from the manufacturers. So this week we received additional first dose allocations of Fizer, which were distributed again. Toe America and Pima County's All 15 counties received Madonna doses, and so we continued to reserve given the unique storage requirements for our Fizer vaccine. We continue to reserve our Majority vaccine for our local or rural health departments. Um In addition to receiving that first those first doses of visor and Madonna vaccine we have received our second doses so that we can continue vaccinating those that I've already received their first US. And have had that either 21 or 28 Day waiting period. This is Dr Cara Chris State Health director, speaking at the Health Department's covert 19 vaccination rollout. Press briefing on Katie Our news 92 3 FM. So during the week of January, 18th Arizona will have been allocated 803,150 doses total. You can see how that's been allocated across the state. You can see at the bottom where we have prioritized our CDC Long term care facility partnership by providing them with the vaccine that they need to vaccinate our Our staff and residents that are long term care facilities. And then you can also see the number of doses that have gone to the state of Arizona. Um Not all of these doses of the 803 have arrived in Arizona. A number of these doses have been allocated to, um Have been ordered for our county partners and will arrive next week. They We anticipate that with the federal holiday. Usually they arrive Monday through Wednesday. We anticipate that they will arrive Tuesday through Friday of next week. So we continue to add additional sites for vaccine administration, So we have initial phase one and phase one B vaccination sites throughout the state. We have over 200 vaccination sites on our website. We also have activated the second phase of the CDC pharmacy partnership, which began the week of December. 27th. So we initially prioritized in phase one of that partnership are skilled nursing facilities, which are highest security, long term care facilities. Um As of the end of this week, all of those facilities will have had at least their first visit from CVS or Walgreen's, and they are scheduling appointments to start assisted living facilities throughout the state next week. So as additional state. Um uh, that scene becomes available, We will be adding additional providers we've had over 730 providers on bordered with a DHS and over 800 pharmacies statewide have enrolled in the CDC pharmacy program to provide in store vaccinations. We have talked on each week about the long term care partnership that CDC put together with our pharmacy partners. So our pharmacy partners code into the facility's and vaccinate the staff and residents of that facility. Um as of this week over 140 skilled nursing facilities scheduled to receive vaccinations, and they will begin vaccinating are assisted living and our group homes starting next week. We've got over 2000 facilities enrolled in the federal program where one of the states with the highest number of facilities enrolled, and our goal is to cover approximately 450,000 residents and staff over the next couple of months. So this is part of the infographic that we post each day on our website. If you look you can see by county what phase That county is currently vaccinating. The total vaccines and ministered along with the vaccination rate per 100,000. And so you can see statewide 232,000 vaccines have been administered. Um, This may not include some of the doses that are provided by our tribal Our federal partners is this is pulled out of the States Immunization registry. So to talk about updates and announcements of this week. On Monday, we had a soft launch of the State Farm Stadium Probate 19 vaccination site. So far we've administered over 20,000 vaccinations at that site, and we are averaging apart between 203 100 vaccinations per hour. We have booked tens of thousands of appointments through January 31st and anticipate opening up additional appointments. That will be between February 1st and February 28th. Those appointments will open up on January 19th at 9 A.m.. We're very excited. Because our partners have really made this endeavor possible. It's a whole community partnership. And again, we just want to thank the Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, the Arizona Cardinals and state from Stadium Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, The Catherine and Ben I. V Foundation. Arizona State University and Walgreens. All of these, these groups are playing a large role at the site on D have made this possible. Way also are very excited about the launch of our second state run of vaccinations site. This will be located at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. We are still looking to see how many doses we will have available for that. For that site, so the number of appointments will depend on the available vaccine again. We're partnering with the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs and Arizona State University to run this site. Arizona State University currently runs a testing a saliva based testing site at this location and so they will scale up to provide vaccination administration. Again. Registrations for appointments are going to open up Tuesday, January 19th at 9 A.m. for this site. We updated our easy health. Dr. Hobbes Flash find vaccine website with an interactive map. You can go onto the map. It has all of the current locations with vaccine, you can select a sight and a box will pop up that has information about that site and a link to their registration. So not all of them. Not all vaccine providers are utilizing the state's vaccine management system. Some providers air using their own appointments software, but we will link to them whenever we have that information so that it's one stop shopping when you go to our our map. We will continue to update this map with additional vaccination sites as they come. In a couple of other exciting announcements, we have been expanding access. So a DHS activated the CDC retail pharmacy program. This is going to add up to 100 pharmacy stores over the next few weeks. The first pharmacies to come on board in Arizona are gonna be fries, Safeway and Albertsons. And so those will be included on our sites as we get notified, which pharmacies which specific pharmacy locations will have that scene? But they will be on our website and will be another source for those that are eligible to receive vaccine to go get vaccinated when this program becomes fully activated, more than 800 pharmacies will have covert 19 vaccine available in Arizona. We currently have more than 200 vaccination sites on our website that have received vaccine and this includes 45 community health centers as well. So if you are eligible and you receive care at one of our community health centers You could check on our website to see if they have received vaccine. And again just another update on helping our Arizona hospitals. We have been recruiting nurses with a nursing staffing contract here in the state. That's been one of our most successful endeavors. We are very excited. The majority of the nurses are here. When they arrive. They will stay on site for eight weeks with an opportunity to extend that On gesso. As of last week. 348 nurses have started work. We anticipated almost 200 more arriving this week again that We don't necessarily count them until we've heard that they have Arrived in the state and are attending on boarding at their assigned hospital. But we continue to work with our staffing contract to get all of the nurses that we can here in. Arizona State health director Dr Cara Crist went with her press briefing on covert 19 vaccine rollout that coming from the state Health Department. Go

You're you're doing a lot of a lot of tasks that you can. You can transfer But i would say a showing that initiative in the passion for whatever you want to do so for me. It was product development. I think people will pick up on that and they'll wanna mentor. You okay. that's really great advice. Okay thank you. plus your husband's a product developer. Unfortunately that's the reality but somebody will know somebody will hear what you're interested in that i'll tell you this person or that's and showing expressing that interest but i just think it's awesome that you did know that you wanted to do product development and you just kept on finding away you know that. Make up artists to product of outbursts. Such a cool trajectory. We don't always hear that on fat mascara t tell us more. Let's keep going. Let's keep going into your story. Yes well and and i do have to say like i recognize what a gift it was that i knew that when i was so young. And not everybody's past and so what i do want to say is that first of all. I don't have all the answers. Second of all you're never too young and you're never too old to be who you always be so you can always invites You know you can always change your mind and at the end of the day my wife and my driver is philanthropy that i get to do every single day. Our incredible employees in product development. Like i get to do the thing that i have dreamt of doing my entire life so i feel really blessed awesome. It's very inspiring. You're never too young. Says like twenty eight year olds for you when you when you started your company. Well that's that's the funny thing about the term ceo. I'm such a work in progress right i. i'm. I'm absolutely not oh come on to answer. The question pat started. I believe was twenty-five but please it's a person. Thank you so much. Yeah you know. it's funny. I have really long hair out saving. Cut it for over a year. Oh my gosh. Look the pandemic who and i have always had longer hair in one of the things i love to do as locks of love but i was actually just talking to some of our team members about it. I said you know to me when i when i started writing. Cosmetics is really tried to look older because nobody really took me. I like to wear that right Cut my hair shorter to look more mature. And look more like i could fit in manhattan and everything like that but So so now. Having longer hair is like. I'm by thirties. Now and i can have longer hair but you know it was the. I've made plenty of mistakes an absolutely a work in progress. But it's i've had a lot of grace From from people around me throughout this journey can can. I ask you about when you started this company. I mean from the very beginning you know. Social good was sort of baked into the premise. Right yes can you tell us about why that is if and do you think that's a necessity of every business. These days or was that was that unique. That the time that you did it. So i'm not here to say what other people should do for their business. But i can absolutely say that my y. End what has truly been in. The dna of thrive cosmetics from the very beginning is our philanthropy giving back that we do from the very beginning. When i started the business in two thousand fifteen that every time somebody bought a product we would be giving back and now it's grown bigger than i ever dreamed given over one hundred million dollars worth of products. Now it feels it feels so surreal to say it out loud dollars. Isn't that crazy. But honestly it's thanks to our customers. Our community are giving partners and our boys are are giving powered by our community which you know our employees have a say in who we give back to our customers have a say in how we give back and that's why it's when a say do have like vote. How does that work literally are if you want to tell us a charity that you want us to give back to. You can go on five. Cosmetics dot com and we have a giving page where you could nominate a giving partner. And then we do have internal giving committees. You know in the beginning when it was just a couple of us in a room working together and shipping product and everything like that we mer service all same time as worshiping product of everybody went to every single giving events and We're involved directly with every Charity and we want it now that our company has grown from an employee perspective. We wanna make sure that our employees are still involved so people do have the option of one nominating a charity that they want us to give to whether they're an employee a customer or somebody who's never bought from us but they just in our our community and then also we haven't internal Committee where people any employees no matter what department their engine joined the committee.

How to be Brilliantly Resilient After Life's Sucker Punches with Mary Fran Bontempo and Kristin Smedley
"We're talking about how to be brilliantly resilient after life's sucker punches and we've all gotten psycho punches over the years fire nation and. Let's start with kristen. Where specifically did brilliantly resilient first of all your brilliantly resilient. It's it's when like you said john you get hit with a sucker punch and brilliant. Resilient people will be stunned maybe even knocked down ouch with. They're not knocked out. And mary. Fran and i have been sucker punched over and over again in life and then we came together by well you might say by accident but we know that the universe kind of aligns things for us right and when we started talking we realize that both of us had gotten knockdown not knocked out and we each had things that we did that were similar or exactly the same to reset our mindset in our lives rise with some really special parts of the formula and then the key we found that our skills and talents our brilliance. If you will just charted us on this whole new trajectory that we did incredible things because of those sucker punches it was pretty extraordinary and fire nation. And what that. I've really been diving into a lot recently. Stoicism and know the whole philosophy behind. That is doing what you can where you are with what you have. Because listen if we're going to dwell in the past and we're gonna look at our past sucker punches in just like let that dictator future than what kind of future do we have. Yes is a great to learn from our past mistakes past cycle punches absolutely to maybe adjust pivots going forward in the future but at the same time. It's like let's be here and the now and let's be brilliantly resilient after the sucker punches any positive way going forward and i love what you to have done together is. You've taken brilliantly. Resilient in you've broken out into three very specific parts which are reset rise in reveal your brilliance and i really wanna go through these three parts right now in a very chronological way. So mary fran. Why don't you start us off by talking about reset so the reset is this part. Where you kind of find yourself. Suddenly laying on the ground looking up at the sky going. What the heck just happened. The reset is what happens. When you get this sucker punch whatever it may be. It can be personal. It can be professional. You know we don't we. Don't judge over here. It can just be kind of being pecked to death by the little things of life you know so whatever you are sucker punch or train wreck would be. That's the part where you get to reset. And that is the part where you're inherent in this key. Inherent resilience comes in. You know we hear so much about resilience these days and everybody thinks it's this kind of nebulous thing that's out there that they don't have it's in you. You were born with it so when we talk about the reset it is resetting with resilience that you already have you know when you were you. Were a kid you you you learn to walk by continually failing but you didn't name it that at the time so you know it's there it's something that we can immediately rely on and with the reset. We have a couple of things that we talk about. We talk about a value system which is hugely important. We talk about your perspective and we talk about controlling the controllables but the values pieces the one that i think we wanna focus on right now right k. Yeah yeah. I'll actually if i can give a quick story with my own Sucker punch i was. I headed fully planned my life out of listeners out there that are chuck in those boxes every day and you get a real thrill from that and i got hit with my first. Two babies were born blind. That was nowhere in my preparation. But what i learned is it was the my perception blindness was the block in our life not blindness itself. If you can imagine it was how i was looking at it in terms of devastation of settlement fear and when i changed my perception then my boys and i and my cited daughter started on a trajectory of allowing them to achieve greatness. They were destined for but what happened to me personally in my own work and business and launching a nonprofit in the meeting with mary fran and doing brilliantly. Resilient is there. Were some core values in in how i live my life that once i aligned my parenting my business my nonprofit to those core values then the exponential success started any new core. Values are actually so important for you to establish which. I never would have thought this before. I really sat and studied it but it is so important that there was actually an episode of e o fire in december that was dedicated to core values. That they are that important. And i think mary has a few more things to add on on values. Yeah i mean one of the things. That i think is so profound. Is that these giant sucker punches. They knock you for such a loop that it takes so much away from you. It takes away your plans. It takes away your goals. It takes away your purpose but it takes away your identity. You know you define yourself in a certain way and then something happens. I found out on mother's day of twenty ten that my son was a heroin addict. I mean up to that point. I had an idea of who i was and where i fit in the world and where i was going to go in that moment all of that disappears but when you dig deep in those moments and when you're flat on your back that's when you get to do it you dig deep and figure out what your core values are. That's the beginning of your foundation for every rise. That comes after that. So there's a lot of powerful things. These leisure shared fire nation. I mean one thing that i really honed in on for any number of reasons is the phrase that mary fran used which is controlling the controllables and to me. That's actually very comforting phrase. Because listen things are outside of our control. I mean what are we really going to be stressing out about. I mean let's be honest. Chris and didn't have within her control. What happens when her children were born blind. But what does she then shift to after that. Initial you know struggle and shock while she shifted to controlling the controllables now. She has a nonprofit now. She's moving forward with us now. She has such a better understanding because she just said you know what. I'm going to sit here and this moment. I'm going to control what i can control these controllable variables. So there's a lot to be thought about under this reset section and fire nation. We may be kind of dipping back into these as we proceed forward but the next part is rise so mary fran what do we have with this section in the rise you wanna look at and again as you said j. l. d. all the stuff kind of works together in the rise. You wanna look at what you can actually do. And this is not living in the land of magical thinking here this. Is you know what we want. And and what we can do are often very different things but the things that help you figure out what you can do. The rise is all about the action step but the things that go into that are what are your resources. What is your skillset. And the big one for us is who is in your tribe and you know very often when we think of our tribe we think of what christian calls the ride or die folks. You know the ones who are with you your first level contacts. Who are your biggest cheerleaders and while those are the people that you definitely need in your tribe. They are not always the ones who are going to help you rise. Because they're often the ones who want a stroke your head and say poor baby when sometimes what you really need is a kick in the butt or somebody who's got a better or a resource that is not within your immediate tribe so we really encourage people to expand that tribe so you can figure out what your action step is gonna because it's all about the action.

"Know it's been this end you know I'm willing to play with whatever team won't me. You know I still WanNa play having fallen and I still feel like a steal from play. This game I showed that when I got up at Tony last year the former running back coach at the University of Miami Don Salt injured used to you. Say That you were the best of all those backs. Clinton Portas Willis mcgahee Nausea Davenport. But you weren't that high on the depth chart right like how crazy easy was that at the time for you to know you are. NFL back but you're sitting there. Behind guys. Like Clinton Portis and Willis mcgahee who also an end nausea who are also a Professional back tough but you know I respect is guys you know. They came to practice every day. And you didn't have a choice choice but every day so they got the opportunity they take advantage of it so I was cool with it but my number got called. I had to take take mile you when I get on the field so I think that's one of the reasons why we're so good. We have so much talent. That was every position. Frank Gore with us on ESPN radio. You're embarrassed by the University of Miami now right last twenty years. What they did to everything you guys built my happy about it But you know we can't do not keep rule the Honda head coach. And you you know. Hopefully we get the guys to come in with us to get it but we had frank. There's no way right no possible way you could chase. You can catch Walter Pate now. Aw Kah Frank you can catch Walter Payton. You're not that far behind his ten years left in the tank and I think it might be three and a half four yards at a time. But we're probably probably catch Emmett Smith. What do you think you hang around that long? I don't know I just take it one day at a tar one year at a time on I know I know I know I still play the game and a still WANNA play this year coming but you know I'm GonNa take one year to Tom. Frank Your dyslexia. When you were coming up how difficult did that make college like? I can't even imagine as hard as the job is to just be running back at the University of Miami competing with those guys is. How hard was it to overcome some of the stuff that you had to overcome in order just to go to class They had they had everything. I talk to follow what you know. What the University of Miami had me on the to do all my tutor and I did everything they told avenue for August schedule? And that's why I stay on the field. I did everything he told me to do. Like go to tutoring had miles Study the whole And that's what I did. Franken your long career. You've.

It's terrifying there's also people that have surgery and they're not even abusing it they don't they accidentally overdose. So it's a nasal spray. You don't even need a prescription. Just go get one. It's a no brainer very rarely do you have a problem this big that we need disolve with a quick fix like this while we're at it. Let's let's let's get into the NARCAN thing I mean. Have it in your house Chris Long with us on. ESPN radio crazy. I know you got a lot of miles on the old dominant. But what are the chances we can jump. Start this comeback me plan. Hey listen I was ready to I was I was ready to I. I was ready to come back this year. If need be in Philly it was what was hard for me as I made such connection in Philly that at this point with a family. Maybe if I'm single and I never played in Philly and I don't have a family I just play until I was forty but I shoot. I don't know we'll big game coming up Sunday. So what's the single most most important thing the forty niners have to do to be the pick your poison on coverage and play cover three single high that sort of thing but good luck with Patrick Mahomes. I think it's rushing him smart. They have a great deal liable where you can fall into is. We're just going to rush. We're GONNA beat people. They have some advantages on the interior. But I'm looking at D. Ford. I'm looking at the left edge. A judge Mahomes is ball hand side. Don't give him that big gap rush on one accord that means if you're going to rush up the field I can't have my tackle taking it inside move. You saw burnt Tennessee before for the APP on the other side of things I think I think we can't say it's as simple stopping the run. And how do you align guys on the edge on Kiddo. Who can block his ass off? You know maybe not a technique maybe guys on the edge a little bit more to set a firm so those are my keys on both sides. quit showing off Chris Long football too much to us like you guys are good at this broadcasting thing however is a human who is decent. Why didn't you ask? What was the matter with him when he said chiefs that way? You just barreled in and started doing your football takes. God said. I've listened to a little bit easy to call it hero. I know his his idiosyncrasies yeah like he was screaming at me scared the hell out of me. I'm like what did you guys got a good show man. "Responsibility so being released when Jeff Fisher. Sure call me. I said don't even apologize. It's all good. This is cool with me like maybe it'll work out for the better and And Yeah I got to go some new place in Winston championships chefs. But I would be lying if I said it was ever the same in the locker room. even with the special lockers we had as the guys who are fighting through one of fifteen in seasons to a fourteen seasons playing their ass off and really like spending years together and that was that defensive line. We hadn't Saint Louis move very good. Robert Quinn William Hayes Myself L. Rockers. Aaron Donald Nick Fairley Eugene sans a ton of really good players in Lakewood. I never played on in a room like that again. Even with some of the heralded groups. We Yeah you play. The season for the Patriots won a super bowl played. Two seasons for the Eagles won a super bowl there as well it feels to me and this is just from afar. Your memories of the Eagles Win feel more specialty. Your connection to that too you. Accomplishment is that just because that's a huge thing for an eagles fan Dan and one of many for the Patriots or was it about the team you were on well. No I wouldn't just talking about the locker in the locker room was great in both places and I think that's what gets lost in New England when people have varying opinions on. You Know Fun in New England I might not make the hot water lane Johnson for saying he'd rather have a bunch of championship. There's people that look at New England. It's very authoritarian. I had a great time. I had never won before that landing spot and by the way the last fifteen years I picked between took free agency and never having that for agency to pick somewhere since I was a junior in high school I went down to being picking game and I I took a a Washington can visit and I'm glad that I passed on that I I almost took a Dallas visit canceled out on that last second one build told me hey assigned but it came down to Atlanta and and New England. Of course that's team we ended up Down Twenty three to In the third quarter of a super bowl and I remember sitting there On the sideline and saying this really just comes down to pick and and I'm a moron. I played eight. Years has never won. And Yeah I mean like I picked the wrong team and and of course that chains and everything else is is history but New England was special may because individually. I've never won. We had a special group number one defense in the League scoring defense. Two the year I had great teammates. Mate's Gaza I love and then Veg mcquarry. Danny Amendola was there. You know a bunch of my buddies And they are truly good men in that locker room. But you don't live in the city. I live in box. Borough never spent a Lotta Time in Boston The scheme wasn't great for me. And that's a big part of it and how I enjoy football playing three technique Not really my thing and when I got the Philly we were the first. The fashioned was which in which we won that Super Bowl with a auto backup quarterback all the injuries we add being picked to be towards the bottom of league and went on a super bowl. Backup quarterback person city's history being an underdog and all those games and playing a bigger role individually. We played in a four three. And that's why I went there. I wanted to finish my career doing some. I knew how to do well. and that was play three yards in the backfield field in the run game and and and rushing the passer so having grown men come up to you sixty five years old seven years old and saying I waited my entire life. This and they're crying. You know pads awesome organization or some fans but they're used to that and Philly will always be that team we will always be a part of it. You know five live camping trip down the line. If they get there will always be i. Yeah that's really cool. It's really it's really awesome. You mentioned Playing for the Patriots. What's something then? We should know about valujet that we don't has a great sense of humor. I mean some people who'd this it's desert dry But it's a sense sense of humor at the end of the day. We all have different types of humor we enjoy and his very dry and And he would make me laugh on a daily basis but when it comes to bill I always say this. The thing that separates them from other coaches which makes him. The greatest of all time is he can walk around the field in a circle and coach every reposition at superior level then the position coach who's probably dedicated decades of their lives. Coaching that position and bill just knows football comprehensively at a level that no one else does. And that's situational stuff to the building of a roster being kind of defacto. GM to having coached different positions and you know He just masters all that and you look coaching now today. And you've got coordinators. You have teams 'cause you had some guys who were supposed to be motivators. There's very few coaches that do everything. And he can do everything yeah. I don't think anybody can argue his greatness as a coach. Now whether you want to play for him. I think probably you have to actually do it to know that because it's kind of like an argument with like a spouse. It's actually she more frustrating when they're disappointed in you than when they're mad at you and I feel like kind of like what belichick would be that person that you just don't WanNa let down and you just don't want to let them down even even if they're not going to be the screamer. Although I'm sure he screams at times as well. Well I had. I had a number of coaches that I didn't want to disappoint in. And you know even Jeff Fisher or who people give a Lotta crap you know that was somebody. I never wanted to disappoint because I felt like he cared about me as a person. Doug Peterson as well. You don't WanNA disappoint bill bill for that reason but you also know disappoint bill. Because you don't get a lot of second chances in that organization and If he sniffs a problem boom he's GonNa put that fire out before it gets going and you know that's for some players an adjustment Where they're used to having leeway in New England whoever you are they can get another you you know? They shipped off Chandler Jones the year before a couple of days before I got there because they decided you know. Here's a guy who's a hall of fame type Rusher we don't WanNa pay 'em there are some issues whatever we don't need them. There's only a couple of people we mead. We'll get pass rush by committee with a bunch of guys are going to have five six sacks a year and You know he's done that in a bunch of different instances where he just decides. Hey I can win without a person or the scheme is much bigger than the player. The organization is bigger than the player and he keeps things things strictly business in a really interesting way so I believe that it's not. It's not so hard when he has to make decisions that are tossed and personal people. Speaking of sort of being a team of pieces that could be moved in and out. Tom Brady is the one piece that has not been moved in and out and this feels feels like the first time that were really potentially talking about him leaving you personally. Having played with them having watched him for years. Do you want to see him leave and go try to do some. You know some of what he's done somewhere else or you want him to stick with the with the Patriots are be done. I'm kind of as a sports fan. I WANNA see chaos like I like I like parody. I like interesting news stories and I think that Tom and another uniform if he so chooses loses to continue playing we'll give him a great opportunity to prove himself and bill respectively Proved himself as well without Tom and Tom Without bill so I think it would be an interesting thing is a football fan. I think that if you're looking at New England there's a couple of ways you can look at got it. Listen that was not a great team this year and they still want a bunch of games. They're going to have a hard time keeping like twenty free agents In place offensively we talked about Carson. Not Having a lot of weapons that was ridiculous attrition. You know kind of Tom didn't come out there with a lot. You know in the beginning of the year. Yeah you're depending on a guy who you know. Quite frankly looks like he's lost his mind And I'm not being funny to try it out. There and carrier offense offense is the guy stretching the field And a guy who's been hurt but boy it'd be being jewels some other pieces like the first first round wide receiver bills Dell's drafted and his tenure in New England That means there was an issue there from personnel standpoint. Nothing since that Super Bowl that we beat them and we put up. You know five hundred plus yards. I think bill decided if I'm reading between the lines. I'm never losing a big game again because of my defense and I thought that there was maybe an over correction from a personnel standpoint dumping everything the defense and Tom was left with nothing to throw to. You know and for a number of issues too with with the offensive line getting dinged up. Losing Gronk was enormous dabbling getting hurt. You're running backs. Use them like receivers. That's about what you got. And you're passing ASSINGAMBI JEWELS AND And I think Tom Getting a new exciting start. Also the fun part is like trying to pinpoint where he might go. 'cause it's a mystery history. Plays everything so close to the vest. If he does leave New England he could get paid. I know money's not an issue but I know pride is an issue with him. It has to be. He's been taking haircuts for so long up there and probably wants to be You know recognized for His grace and he wants to prove people wrong so you got to the Eagles calls after the pats you managed to be a part of their first super bowl. Ever you make incredible ties. It felt like the team mates that you met there and became a part of that history with Particularly Malcolm Jenkins and you made a lot of news as the first white player to sort of acknowledge and be a part of Kapernick and Malcolm Jenkins a number of other players player's anthem protests. You didn't raise your fist. You didn't neo but you did support Malcolm and you were willing to openly talk about it. Something that a lot of people talk about the need for for white allies in the fight for racial justice. And it's understandable that many players would be reticent about joining and not feel like they want to have to take on the flack. Why do you feel like you're in a position to handle whatever criticism you might get from teammates from fans from the League? I never got a single critising in the locker awesome. That's the thing about Locker rooms and I can't paint a picture of every player's ideology whether they're white or the black because there's a lot of black players who didn't nail or you know Raise the fist or even joining any semblance of protest. So I think there is a there's a level of like you have to understand these players in the league. It's a culture where that's not welcome from an ownership standpoint for an office point name it sounds simple and I don't know if would I like to think I've done the same thing when I was younger if I want to make it as much money but I've gotten what I want out of my career So even if I was convicted on these things earlier in my career one there was never an opportunity to to show that I mean I had my twitter. You know I I tweet about these issues my entire career but you know here we are. You are in a situation where somebody needs to step up. The looks like me in some form or fashion and I might be one of the ones that steps up and I've always been one. That's had a hard time keeping keep my opinions myself but you know now. Hey look people looking.

"Part of what this team does because this is one of the most special teams I've been on and and we got Greg guiding locker room. I love playing in the city of Philadelphia. That would be a hard thing to walk away from after everything that the city went through last year on on the positive end of things to walk away. After that. I mean, the city was unbelievable, and and that's my favorite part about playing for the eagles is playing Philly. Chris long, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end again, here care. Vappu which will talk about in a second here on other rich Eisen show live from the pro football hall of fame. Your perfect. Ask a couple of things of of current NFL story lines that are going on that we hear stories about. One of them is it's not fun to play in New England. We've heard that, well, I mean, you know, amendola Lisi goes to Miami. Well, let's maybe cold temperature wise, but also maybe cold. You know, when the sun goes down early, I mean, those are my biggest gripes. I mean, may I don't mind cold weather. The sun goes down at like four o'clock in the afternoon. Now you seem like you're trying to cut me off before I ask the question, Chris, because you're very smart guy, but it also came from your locker room during the Super Bowl. Last year's a, hey, it's more fun here. It's not fun. There amendola leaves. He goes to Miami. He makes mention. Of how it's less fun sometimes to play in New England. What? What are your thoughts on that subject playing coming from where I've come from and I loved every not every minute of planting Saint Louis. Obviously, when you're team doesn't win anymore than seven games in the season for eight years. I mean, you know, I played on one of fifteen teams. I played onto a fourteen teams. I played in front of ten thousand people because the team's moving and you know, we're not playing well, I've been beaten forty four to three. You know, I've been beaten fifty one to seven like that's not fun. So you know, for me to go someplace like New England from that situation and have an opportunity to win a Super Bowl other than the sun going down at four o'clock in the afternoon, you know, and the scheme not fitting me, perfect. I really enjoy my teammates and I enjoyed coming to work there. I mean, every PA. Of being in the NFL is complaining guys, you know, guys sit around and complain, and, and we complain about, you know, schedule being too long like, you know, the meetings are too long practices too long today. That's universal wherever you go, and there's different ways to to get the job done in every organization does things differently. But I I had more fun than I didn't in New England, and you know, I, I really will cherish those memories as long as I live Chris long here on the rich Eisen show. And then obviously the other subject that's going on with the NFL as the anthem rule and what's been going on obviously from Pennsylvania Avenue, and then the state of Pennsylvania with the invitation and not invitation. What has it been like for you? Chris long and your teammates to read the headlines and be mentioned in the headlines and in tweets..

"Zero swag but he can spend that football okay your experience back to back super bowls tell me the differences between philadelphia new england well i mean obviously you know something that everybody picks up like i want this to be on the news yeah i know that's what everybody does now i'm telling you that's what i want so i'm funny every fan that every fan that comes out to me from like you know the city is like which ones better well i'm not gonna say which one's better i mean there's you know as good as it gets you can't beat it even if you do it again but the the two cities the differences obviously one has been used to this perpetual like winning championship machine so you know going to philly and feeling you know that kinda that excitement in the city that's hard to be you know as far as i was fifth one yeah it wasn't their fifth or sixth or however many it's been in new england that's a machine you know and you're joining a machine and you play your part art and and you know and you love it i love my teammates up there i still talk to them all the time you know got great respect for bill you know equally a lot of similarities in great teammates in the two places which is not you know given on any nfl roster but i would say like the city part you know as far as i didn't get to live in boston and enjoy ball aren't allowed to write you have to get a parent's slip.

"Tepa with good reason said i'm a quarterback you know i had people in my mentions when i was talking about lamar and the relevancy of of this coding and you know there's how race affects how we look at it i people my mentions talking about well tibo tiba would still be in the league hetty made the switch using that as like if people switched to tight any still being leaked you didn't tell me tiba with a carved out a ten year career as a tight end no that's ridiculous takes such an insult to tight ends like as if you use your sync because somebody's good at quarterback that they're going to be able to make the transition elsewhere you know how many guys that could really run and cut in greenspan's and and and had even solid hands couldn't run routes or you know didn't have the work ethic or you know it's it's that's why the combine is in a lot of ways overrated so you can't even if a player has like measurable doesn't mean they can play football well so you can't just project a guy who's been a great college quarterback and say well we really want him as a wide out because he is athletic and part of that is lamar just got so many gifts that you know people out over think it and my thing is instead of overthinking why don't you just coach them up and fix the deficiencies that you see at quarterback if we have the best coaches in the world in the nfl which maybe it's questionable i don't know if you can't coach somebody up who's that talented maybe we should be asking about how we can develop town the nfl because that's a concern as well i think quarterbacks way this league works is that if you don't show anything this verse two years it's over so we kind of like if i were in the league i would say we eat our young at the position and half the first round guys clear bust if not more or less twenty years and i think it's the position i think there's things that we try to evaluate that we don't know until somebody's facing nfl pressure on sunday and you're like all right this guy doesn't have it and we couldn't.

"Is there any more sells long time plan the game yeah yeah i mean so i mean a lot like listen it's it's like any profession there's things that we see that people outside the game don't see now we quarterbacks college quarterbacks my guess is good as anybody's i mean but at the end of the day my biggest take on the mark jackson really has nothing to do with race although it is completely relevant topic and we should be talking about in the ratio coating it's bad it's it's like late what it is lazy it's just like calling me a high motor higher for guy now have words high motor tattooed on my arm it's kinda it's kinda sarcasm you you never seen that i haven't i don't know there's so much color on the advice of spro jellyfish though so like so listen like my biggest take is if quarterbacks on grow on trees especially guys with tools like lamar has and who who have played that well in college and in major conference so if you're the best coaches in the world if we if we're supposed to have the best coaches in the world then fell and you're not on him is all stuff that is coach bowl and fixable why can't you coach him up and fix them why why do you have to why is your first reaction we need to look at him as a skill guy you know and say a team that doesn't need a quarterback early on i also think maybe if there's a team that worked them out as a skill guy because they are two or three deep at quarterback then that's okay they're they're kinda doing their homework but a team that needs a quarterback should should never look at a little more as anything but an opportunity to turn their program around and can we coach them up if we're the best coach in the world we should be able to coach him up through but i just think i've learned going through a more and more and i went through this couple of weeks ago when i did my lamar odd cast i watched a lot of mar and it's because he's one of my favorite players i've ever seen in college football that fun and because this year too they had a lot of earlier window games and we'd just beyond man's alarm and watch it again and.

"I think yeah there's racial coding all throughout evaluating football talent and that's just the world we live in and people have a hard time talking about it but we need to talk about it it's sometimes it's funny when it comes to you know me and ryan kerrigan and calvin bausch and aaron camp mental this have in identical games and sometimes it's not so funny because you know for court black quarterbacks in the nfl it is harder and that's the most important job on the on the field in the nfl and when you look at somebody like lamar i mean there is some ridiculousness to you know the way we digest is you know ascension to the nfl and then there's the other side of it which is if somebody critiques lamar they're not racist you know if somebody says i don't think we'll mars you know i read i read a i read a take at the end of the year that he was on he was on a high isan watch list and he was like number three or number four for the for the year which makes sense i mean if you're if you're a betting man only one players ever wanted consecutively right so chances are if you're hedging your bets he's not gonna win the heisman he's just hard to do but then it became it was racist because he wasn't ahead of rosen darnold and yeah and so now it's become in for some for some people on the internet i mean most people i talked to him person are like this but you know you can't complement josh allen i mean there's a lot of good stuff going on with josh l and there's a lot of great stuff when i was lamar too i mean they're games are different you know and i don't know too much about quarterbacks but i think they'll all be you know josh sam you know now rosen there's another i mean there's another angle with the rosen thing which is independent thought process and kinda his outspokenness i think the rosen thing is a really good example and i brought this up earlier.

"That's fine i'm not i'm not planning about that but what i'm saying is is that dude is being told all the rules and then he's also being told that he can't be offended by anything and he's he's kind of had it and that's what i think happened to you well i think at the end of the day man like of all things to be offended about it's like listen like you're you're associating may you're saying hypocr hypocrite 'cause you love men with you know you assume that i i'm offended by everything because of my political affiliation or something to get me back you're just doing the same thing which it's just it's it's crazy and of all the things to be offended about i mean you know sorry your kids not going to be you know the next michael jordan or you know probably odds are stacked against him and like i said you know as a white defensive end the nfl i've heard it all i mean you know listen for the last ten years it's been when i came in the league it was your your compas aaron kampman and patrick carney and colvin bausch and now it's a me ryan kerrigan and joey bosa who are all very different players mind you and reminds me of older joey bosa yeah yeah so so you know and i think for while there and generally in sports and we've had this like lamar jackson conversation about racial coding one on we we you know i covered this in a bleacher report article i believe it was where they asked me for my opinion on it.

"All right we now welcome on our good friend chris long he gave a tip today first time ever after many suspensions so he's back in our good graces chris we wanted to have you on quickly to talk about resigning with the eagles was the motive for this because you didn't want to retire and have your lasting legacy be a sixteen seed beating a one seat h you guys so you know getting over it i was just gonna funny that that night and the night after i feel like you called me a bunch i create your call oh yeah we were trying to get you on that yeah that that that catapulted me into a real bender but it was kind of cathartic to watch you know another number one seed down on those yeah almost every year say different you know i'm the guy that's always for chaos and my whole life all i've wanted to see like it was like my sports fan bucket list at the time was the sixteen every wish for is twenty year when it's like twenty two fifteen in the first half he's gonna be this year i get a follow up question to big cats do you regret wearing german shepherd masks instead of chesapeake bay retriever masks having those online first ones were german shepherd mass i'm really glad they didn't spiel or a gimmick 'cause that would've gotten a luckily i would've probably suit unbc concerned community colleges don't have great legal teams we probably would've won.
