"Annexed. Follows the Kremlin orchestrated referendums that were widely condemned internationally as a sham, joining us live is CBS chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan. She's the moderator at Sunday's face the nation on CBS and Margaret, a question for you this morning. How is the west going to respond to this move by Putin? Is this just a turning point in the war? Can it just continue as he is planning? Well, as what we're expecting is more of the same from the west and that is financial warfare, more sanctions, more punishment for Putin, just like there has been for the past 7 months. And the argument is that it will eventually change his calculation. It hasn't stopped the war, as you know. The question is whether Putin is also escalating on other fronts in a way that might provoke the west further. I'm thinking there of those sabotaged gas lines in Europe. As Vladimir Putin gets cornered, there's that question of will he escalate. The prime foundation of the U.S. policy and NATO's policy has been avoiding direct conflict with Russia. It's the Ukrainians who are battling them out with western weapons, but really NATO forces and western forces are just trying to draw that really bright line saying we do not want to be directly involved. All right, Margaret, tell us who you're going to have on Sunday to talk more about this on face the nation. Well, we are going to have a big focus at home this weekend because of the devastation we are seeing from the floods from the hurricanes. We will be talking to Florida senator Rick Scott. I'll also have the fema administrator Dan criswell join us to talk about what federal relief is coming and what's already been pumped in here. We're going to have a table setter on climate change. Our Ben Tracy who covers that beat will explain to us why you're having governor desantis say things like this is a 500 year event. Never before happened in our state. He'll explain what's contributing to that. And Chris krebs, the former head of cisa, part of Homeland Security is going to talk to us not just about disaster relief, but also disinformation and election security as we are just weeks away from those midterm races. All right, Mark, great. Thank you and have a great weekend. CBS chief foreign affairs correspondent, Margaret

"The Associated Press AP seems to have decided to designate itself as the official cover up artist of the 2020 election. Because really going all the way back to 2020, the repeated assurances that not just of the election is safe and secure, not just the regurgitation from Chris krebs and Schumer and all these other sources declaring the election to be secure. But claiming to have done investigative work to confirm the securities of the election. This AP has decided, we're going to do this kind of work. Now, several months ago, AP put out a highly touted and excited and reprinted article. Basically saying we've looked at every single case of election fraud in 6 contested states, we found only 475 cases in court, not all of those have even been proven, but even if you granted that all of them are true, this wouldn't no way overturn the election in any of those key battleground states. Now, this article was from the beginning based on a very fallacy, but also a very cunningly advanced fallacy. Namely, that a look at the court cases involving a phenomenon. Are an accurate gauge of how widespread that phenomenon is. So let's consider, for example, court cases in 6 states involving drugs. How many cases have been prosecuted in those same 6 states involving, let's say, drug use. And if you can say that I found 475 cases and in those 6 states, could you reasonably conclude, therefore, there are only 475 people in the 6 states using illegal drugs. Nonsense. There are, in fact, not just thousands, not just tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of people using illegal drugs. The number of cases that make their way to court is a tiny fraction of the infractions themselves, and the same is true in so many other areas of law. Speeding. You can say, well, we've looked at the number of speeding tickets in Texas or in San Diego or wherever, and therefore we can conclude that only 17 people. In the entire state, speeded, let's say, for example, in the month of June last month, well, this would be nonsense. Lots of people go over the speed limit, a tiny fraction of them are caught. The cop has to be on the scene even then cops have some discretion of who to even pull over, and so the idea that you could gauge how widespread it is based upon court cases is ludicrous. But that was AP and AP's back again. Now contending, quote, no problem, no major problems with ballot drop boxes in 2020, AP fines. AP fines will help. What did AB do to confirm this? What turns out AP did two things? One is they contacted election officials around the country. Some of them responded by the way many of them didn't. So number one, they were saying that we know that mail in dropboxes have no problems. Why? Because election officials say so. Wow. We know that banks are not vulnerable to being to being to being robbed because bank managers assure us that they're doing an outstanding job in securing the banks at all levels. And number two, they asked these officials questions like, has anyone ever broken into a Dropbox? How easy is it to vandalize or break into a Dropbox compared to say a U.S. mailbox? And then they quote election officials saw me saying, well, you know, these drop boxes are much, they're just as hard to break into as let's say a U.S. mailbox. And we've had very few. In fact, any cases at all of anyone attempting to do this, well, you can see here how AP is basically just relying on the absolute ignorance on the part of the audience of what the problem really is. This is sort of like saying, well, listen, you know, banks are never robbed because the buildings themselves are secure. We are very few cases of people actually vandalizing the bank itself. The bank building, well, if the problem you're dealing with is that people are slipping into the bank and using counterfeit money, which is to say fraudulent ballots, that's not a problem of the bank building itself being insecure. It's a problem of the processes that are used to count the currency. That's the problem is right there. So similarly here, the problem isn't whether drop boxes can be broken into a vandalized, it is the illegal and fraudulent votes that get dumped into them duh. So AP is, again, the using a strategy that's pretty common in the media. You might remember some months ago NPR did a hit job on the movie. And what NPR did constantly in this hit job was they set up a straw man. So, for example, if the movie says we investigated a murder, we got valuable information. We turned it over to the FBI. NPR would then say we went to the Georgia bureau of investigation. The GBI, which is a sister organization, but not the FBI. Separate buildings, separate staff and they go, did true the vote submit any information to you. And the GBI goes, no, they did not. And then NPR goes there. Look, they're denying that what is said in the movie is true, even though the movie made it clear the information was not given to the GBI was given to the FBI. Maybe the FBI shared it with a GBI, maybe they didn't, but this is no sort of refutation at all. And similarly here, you have AP basically saying election drop boxes are not vandalized. Nobody's actually breaking into those drop boxes. Therefore, we can conclude that the election was completely secure. So all of this, I think, is a measure of how desperate these people are to sustain the narrative. A narrative that was unsustainable from day one, unsustainable from day one because it made no attempt to prove what it stated categorically. This was the most secure election in history, no attempt was ever made to prove it. It was always sustained just by dogmatism by censorship and now as in the case with AP by preposterous lies.

"Dot com promo code Larry or one 808 9 1843 that's one 808 9 1843. It's disgusting. Well, you go back to November 4th, and we all lived this Twilight Zone. I always say that there was an old saying, Petrie falls in the forest, and no one heard it did it really fall. Well, then the media tells us there is no forest. I mean, that's what it was back in November and December. And now, you know, I know. But we were all living in this Twilight Zone. You were living there with us and but then you had all the betrayals and a tax on you that escalated to a whole another level. And Eric told me once that you said right before you were going down that escalator to make your famous announcement that you said, well, we're going to find out now who our true friends are. And I never forgot that he said that to me. And, you know, everyone out there, since that time, we've all been praying for you for you to have strength and my question is, what does give you the emotional strength to handle at all? It's interesting you mentioned people because I've had some disloyal people and we always do through life. You know, you put somebody in, you think they're great. Sometimes you put somebody and you're not so sure they turn out to be great. But I've also had tremendous people in The White House. We had some tremendous successes. We had some really, very, very talented people. But we also had people that were very bad and very incompetent. You put them in the highly recommended by rhinos and others. What the counsel of the world? And they just don't do no. He was very disappointing. I mean, I got him elected, it wasn't for me. He wouldn't be governor. Of Georgia. They wouldn't even be close. He would have lost. He wouldn't have won the primary to start off when they wouldn't have run the race against Stacey Abrams. So he was a tremendous disappointment. And all we wanted was a voter integrity that's all we wanted. So it was very sad. And there are others. For the most part, it has been loyal. I mean, really, I've had great loyalty from a lot of people, and that people don't want to write about them. You know, the sun is exciting. But I mean the emotional strength. Where do you get the emotional strength from? Because we pray for you all the time to calm down. People ask it's not only from that, it's just the whole they come at you from the everything. I went four years on their shoulders. Yeah. And now you read where and it was totally phony to start off with, but now you're reading all about the Russia thing as a hoax. It was set up by Hillary Clinton and the Democrats and paid for and they dealt with Russia. Right. Now what could be crazier than that? It just came out today as you see. They nabbed another one. And her lawyer, her lawyer was involved. I mean, the whole thing Durham, while it's taking a long time. It's very devastating things and he's coming out with them. So, you know, that was a hoax, the phone call with Ukraine. It was a perfect I said perfect call. You got impeached over a phone call. There was a perfect cult. Or don't forget Tim Scott. It was a terrific man in a terrific senator from South Carolina. He read the call. Fortunately, I had people transcribing it. Had they known that, they would have never done the impeachment because they found out much later. But fortunately you had it, but you know, Tim Scott said, he read the call. It was a perfect call. What are you doing? Great. But they were down the line. They said, let's just keep going. These are people. The bad people. Anyways, so you love the country so much that you're just about better things to do. No, I love the country, and we made such progress. And we've done so many things. Even though it was constantly constantly under attack, constantly. And by the way, do you hear that beautiful tropical range? That's really coming down. One thing went in Florida, when it comes down, it comes down. But no, I love the country. And I had a goal and a goal was to do what we did. And I think you can almost say that few presidents, if any did what we did when we rebuilt the military, when we were so much and we did it under a lot of pressure because there were so many other outside forces that were fighting us. I just considered it a great honor. I was very disappointed as you were and as millions of people were. I think I read 78% of one of our great parties felt that the election was rigged and stolen. And it was rigged. It was our own for example. You know, you've got, you know, you talk about betrayal. You have Bill Barr that before the election says, you know, its machines could be hacked and China could be. You know, we have to worry about China. Then he says to everyone to the whole country, there's not enough evidence to overturn the election. Then we find out now, if we finding all this later, he sends a letter an email, whatever in order to turn a U.S. attorney in Pennsylvania not to look at the evidence. I mean, that's shameful. And then you've got like Chris krebs that said it was a fairest election ever. The best election ever. And then a couple of months later he's on MSNBC. And what does he say? He said, what's the biggest threat to our country? China, attacking us in a cyberattack right down to the local races. I said, what did he copy the evidence? I mean, I don't think, you know, people it was to live in The Twilight Zone there. And then Radcliffe, how about January 7th, when John Radcliffe, the DNA director of national intelligence wherever he comes out with a letter saying that China, the evidence of China tech had been suppressed, and that, isn't that kind of the same day, they took away all our freedom of freedom of speech. They took away your social media, immediately went into the attack. At that point, I mean, that had to be at least for me, I'm going to scan even be real. They take away the president's voice and millions of us, I mean, at that point, how are you feeling then? Was it like just belief or was it? So I had hundreds of millions of people too. We had a tremendous weather. It was Twitter or it was Instagram, Facebook. I had, you know, just massive numbers of people and all of a sudden one day you wake up and you don't have that voice anymore. You have to rebuild it in a sense in a different form. That was terrible. You know, you mentioned bar that was very disappointing. You mentioned krebs. I don't know crabs. I don't even know who this guy is, but I've seen him on television all the time on CNN and MSD and C as I call it. This guy was talking about the honesty of elections. Well, all you have to do is take a look at some of the reports that have come out since all of that. These elections were incredibly dishonest. More.

"N. Y C during this dollar for dollar matching period Thanks so much. It's morning edition from NPR News. I'm Steve Inskeep and I'm Rachel Martin. Good morning. For the first time, the Department of Homeland Security has decided it needs to regulate cyber security in the pipeline industry. Washington Post first reported this move, which means a new set of rules to safeguard pipeline companies against cyber attacks like the one that crippled the colonial pipeline earlier this month and forced it to shut down. That meant fuel shortages for days across the eastern part of United States. We're gonna turn out to Chris Krebs. He was the first director of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency at DHS. When it was founded in 2018. He left the job in November of 2020. Chris, Thanks so much for being back on the show. Thanks for having me on Rachel. Good morning. Good morning. Why do pipelines need their own set of regulations? Whether the operating conditions of pipeline is one of our critical infrastructures. They have some unique aspects and given the way that the U. S government divvies up the oversight and management of the various critical infrastructure sectors. Pipelines. Oddly enough fall under the Transportation Security Administration, you might think sounds like an energy department area right instead of the people who are watching over the metal detectors at airports. Yeah, well, But ultimately, Ah, pipeline is a mode of transportation, and there are multiple products that moved through pipelines, including water and chemicals and gasses. And so what You really think about is not the product that flows through the pipes. But it's the modality itself. It's the infrastructure itself In T, Essa is is uniquely situated to, uh, T O be helpful here. And so what you're saying is, as you pointed out the first security regulation from T Essa Over pipelines in it's an incremental step, at least for for the moment. So what's it going to change? Well, for one, this specific directive in the directive is focused its threat oriented. I likely be time limited, but it's it's gonna require reporting of security incidents to T s a and to my old agency system, and that's it. But there's additional authority that may take a little bit more time to develop where you may see things like security standards or baseline standards of performance for security measures. So this is primarily of reporting mechanism it private companies then are going to have to disclose when they've been hacked to the federal government. Are they interested in revealing that information? Well, that's the interesting thing right when you think back to the initial days of the colonial pipeline hack a couple weeks ago. And my predecessor, the acting director was in Congress, and he was asked questions about what you know what don't you know? And ultimately early on, there wasn't a lot of information available to the federal government because it's not required to report on incidents and I think that's a key. Element that has to change across all of our critical infrastructure is not just pipelines. But these companies need to report to the government because if we don't really know how big the problem is, It's hard to make informed policy and operational decisions going forward. So these regulations are supposed to be mandatory. How do you enforce that? Well, there are a number of different ways they could do that. First it just through the kind of the wag your finger and you engage them all the way up to security finds and shutdown of operations. These are the sorts of directives the T s a issues and implements all the time in airports just recently, mask mandates on commercial air travel, So there's a regime in place. There are relationships with the pipeline sector. And now it's just a matter of getting it out there Helping these organizations understand who they need to talk to and how to do it. And you're not into this earlier. But help us understand what comes from that information. So the federal government find out about a particular hack. Or now they have a bunch of data points about several hacks. What does that do to prevent them? Well, one of the things that's important right now is that due to a lack of a mandatory reporting regime on ransomware, specifically, we don't we don't really understand how bad the problem is. And one of the things that I would greatly encourage. Is anyone that has a ransom or event notifies the government so that week so the government can take action needed, including Working with our foreign partners, as well as some of the countries that may be harboring these ransomware actors so that we can put in into this now. Chris Crabs, former director of the cyber security and Infrastructure Security Agency, at THS, We appreciate you taking the time. Thank you. Thanks a lot. Pandemic highlighted the quality of care and some nursing homes. And in some cases, the lack of quality advocates say Regulators aren't doing enough to root out serious problems. States grant licenses to nursing homes, which means they can deny a license to a nursing home operator. But in California, a company that's been denied a license can keep running the nursing home anyway, while it appeals here's Elly Yu of member station KPCC in Los Angeles. Last March, Cynthia was ready to pull him out to a group home when the pandemic hit. Covert shut everything down when she went to visit David there a window A couple weeks later, she says staff weren't wearing masks around him. On pressure down in the soul of our democracy in assault literally on the citadel of liberty in the United States Capitol himself five lakhs, including a Capitol police officer were lost as a result of this national disgrace. "Step down or be removed. Chris Krebs is the former U. S director of cyber security who helped oversee election integrity has to resign. He has to tell his supporters that he lied to them. This was all his own fraud. We have to set an example for the rest of the free world that attempted coups, which is what this wasp will not be tolerated. He was on CBS's face. The Nation. Republican Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey says he would for prefer Mr Trump to resign. I think at this point with just a few days left It's um the best path forward the best way to Get this person in the rear view mirror for us. That could happen immediately. I'm not optimistic it will. But I do think that would be the best way forward. He was on CNN. Some Democrats today calling for impeachment, but then Delaine and impeachment trial for several months. Representative James Clyburn, president elect Bad The 100 days. He needs to get us a general off on running. Maybe we'll send the articles. Sometimes after that. Volkswagen said last month that they needed to adjust first-quarter manufacturing plans around the globe because of the shortage. Now honda says it will cut domestic output by about four thousand cars this month at one of its factories in japan nissan is adjusting production numbers for its note hatchback model and ford has moved up previously planned downtime at a kentucky plant for its sport utility vehicle factory to the jin chips all right. Well we're talking about cars. Let's talk about the the apple car. Yeah a lot of rumors as of late will really over the last few years. But but but the rumors had resurfaced recently and hyundais. Now talking to apple about kerr's so says the company hyundai representative told cnbc quotes. We understand that apple isn't discussion with a variety of global automakers including hyundai motor as the discussion is at its early stage. Nothing has been decided. Korean economic daily said that apple suggested the arrangements and hundred was reviewing the terms that involved e production and also battery development hyundai has had his own battery platform called e. g. m. p. going into production later this year. So might be saying what you're doing. Reuters sources say that apple would like to produce a passenger vehicle by twenty twenty four however might not be that date bloomberg's mark gurman reports in thomas e. v. from apple is five to seven years away and michio recently said he wouldn't be surprised if it takes until twenty twenty eight. Yes what's probably going on. Here is apple and i think this significant part has decided to start investigating how they would build. Whatever it is. They're going to build whether it's a whole car or an integrated platform and they're going to different manufacturers and parts suppliers and folks like magna including hyundai. And saying what are you got. How can you help us with this. And is a great company for this because they make parts they make systems. They make full cars. There's all kinds of services in the conday company that could play a part with apple so it may not be. That apple knows what they want from hyundai. It may just be that they're going and saying hey let's talk. You do a lot of the kinds of things that we think we're going to need. I'm pretty excited about this. I just got my first hyundai ever this year and my perception of this story was weight but hyundai currently uses android auto and a lot of their their cars. So i would love to see. How apple would integrate Hyundai's current technologies into something that is very useful for that apple ecosystem not just looking at e itself but also the The the systems inside of it the controls in how they would manage that four a driver and a passenger in the car. Yeah i mean. I think that's one of the big questions that i have is okay. Let's say let's say it's hyundai that that applet ended up working with with clearly not set in stone at least from what we know at this point. But let's say it's the companies for kicks. Let's imagine that that's what it is. Yeah it is. It is an apple car that hyundai produces a lot of parts for the way that works with lots of other companies to produce other hardware for apple. I mean that that's the loftiest kind of goal that we're looking at and maybe that would take till twenty twenty eight at you know if if apple was lucky. I think it probably has more to do with like you said shannon not that you know android auto wouldn't still be prevalent in a lot of passenger vehicles but maybe at some sort of it's a special relationship. It's it's a special kind of os inside a car that is supposed to you. Know i don't know move some merch because What apple is providing on the software side is is. Is that much more interesting. I really don't know if you look at that. Bloomberg article mark gurman sources are saying that Tesla people that apple has hired are working on things like interior exterior. Drive train stereo. Desist the kinds of things. You need when you're building a car not carting a software platform so then the question becomes is it the apple car period. Maybe hendaye makes it. Maybe somebody else makes it. And you know they'll figure out how to distribute it or is it the apple car by sunday and you go to hyundai dealership to buy it the way you went to an. At and t. store to an apple iphone but it's really apples car in cooperation with sunday. Are there multiple partners. I mean that's all the kind of stuff we're waiting to see but it really does feel like we have gotten to the point where this is no longer just yeah. They're working on project titan. They don't know what they're gonna do to. They have an idea. It's more than just software and they're working out the details. Maybe they don't even know that yet. Well i'm interested to see what happens but we also have some other news. Security among the systems impacted by the solar winds attack is the electron filing system. Used by the us federal courts at investigation is underway to determine if confidentiality of documents filed with the courts was breached and as a result starting wednesday confidential documents filed with the courts will be stored on standalone systems. Not uploaded big difference so these are documents sealed from public access because they contain sensitive information like investigative techniques identities of informants and a lot more other. Us federal agencies affected included the justice department the state treasury and energy departments as well solar winds has engaged. The krebs stay most security consulting group to help deal with this attack. That firm was formed by alex. Stamos the former chief security officer at yahoo and facebook and chris krebs the former director of the us cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency or sisa. So krebs was fired last month. By the president after finding no evidence of with voting systems in the twenty twenty election. Yeah stamos first of all brilliant for those two to team up and smart for solar winds to engage them for what they say is Helping with transparency with companies that are affected But this we we are not done finding out how bad this is. There are reports that there may have been other ways that this whoever is behind this intruded beyond just solar winds. They're finding evidence of that. They have not been able to root out the people that got into this vulnerability from all systems yet. They're still in there in a lot of cases. And you know this. This kind of confidential information is exactly the kind of thing you fear that someone would get intruding into a government system informants investigative techniques that you can now learn from to evade being prosecuted or caught yourself. That's that's crown jewel type stuff it's it's very interesting. In fact krebs spoke on record saying that it could potentially take years to figure out how deep the solar winds attack actually went and how many different kinds of infrastructure. You know brands and everything that it might have affected so this is not something. That's going to die anytime soon. I'm glad that they are reaching out. Craig's and stay most though because that i agree with you tom. It's excellent. excellent team roku made a few interesting announcements roku says. Npd data shows that the roku s was the top selling smarter operating system in the us and canada in two thousand twenty thirty one percent market share in canada. Thirty eight percent in the united states That's pushed the samsung's tizen number two. At least we don't actually know samsung's ties and was number. One in two thousand nineteen also announced a wireless soundbar reference design that uses wifi for its roku. Tv ready program remember. Last year roku announced the program which had a designed for wired. Sound bars. The program includes tcl. Pokemon on an element has just announced. They'll join as well with two point. Two point one ready sound bars roku tv ready to expand internationally later this year as well. But here's the big roku news roku has agreed to acquire exclusive global distribution rights to more than seventy five Shows documentaries some of which had not been released before qube shutdown. So there'll be some new stuff that nobody's ever seen after their exclusivity deal expires. That'll happen in a bit more than a year. Depending on the show roku will still have the rights to show the content just not exclusively until thousand twenty seven the content will have to be presented in original increments of ten minutes or less. The deal doesn't let them stitch it altogether. The content will be added to the more than forty thousand movies and tv shows already available. In the roku channel shows include from Be anyway punked. Murder house. Flip and dummy which stars anna kendrick. I never watched the new punk. I heard had its moments. The whole qube thing. It's really interesting to me because it was sort of like. It crashed and burned so quickly. And there's a lotta shot and friday around folks in the industry about it. And i think that's not because qube was doing things wrong. It was because the company had raised so much money time. Because you know. They had meg whitman. Jeffrey katzenberg who are you know. Heavy hitters and there was a little bit of like you are being to embassies and therefore you shall fail. The company did fail and the idea that some creators will have a new life on another platform shows. That just don't even saw but people still worked on. And maybe you're really good. I think this this makes a lotta sense and good for roku to get exclusivity for at least a few years so does roku have to wait at all in order to start showing this content or can happen immediately. I don't know when the start date. Whenever the deal is you know goes into effect. Then they'll immediately be able to to show it so you know within a month or so it would be my guess anyway but no they. They don't have once. The deal is actually in effect. They don't have to wait. What's going on here. is that the baby. Production companies own the rights to their own stuff but they have a two year exclusive for each one of their shows with qube and those two year exclusives are now being transferred to roku so roka will be able to have the exclusive for the remainder of whatever. The period was with quick. That's why it's more a year. Exclusively goes away then they still have the right to show it until twenty twenty seven but the production companies that made it can now start shopping at around to other places as well so the production companies do hold the content and remember this is just the content. Qube is still in a over. Its turnstile technology which is holding it up from selling its technology and i would expect once it resolves that lawsuit should resolve it in a way that they still hold their technology. They'll sell that to so this isn't the last you're going to hear could be selling off a part of it. I would imagine. Gotcha yeah that whole. The whole technology part of qube was again was an ambitious thing that was released at a very inopportune time in twenty twenty when everyone was like. We're just sitting at home like we don't need this like mobile phone technology. It's like cool that you can shifted around but you can't even cast thing. I mean the company did fix that pretty soon after allow about she was just. I mean it's just did. The timing couldn't be worse but that technology when you think of it in a variety of other form factors such as monitors that swivel talked about some of those yesterday. I don't know that qube or tiktok or snapchat or all of the stuff where we're like. Oh yeah that's the. That's the portrait view. Rather than landscape view. That works for certain apps is is is all that this is four. I think there's more to it So we'll see what happens and there's patents and things that are always valuable because you can use those to extract some concessions and money and stuff. So yeah expect that all to come join the conversation in our discord which you can join by linking to a patriotic. Can't get in there and talk about your favourite qube shows with all the other discord folks. Just lincoln to your patriotic out at patriotair dot com slash. Dpd s all right shannon. How do you clone a security key. Well i i will say please do not stop using your security keys because of this story i will explain it. Researchers from ninja lab published a paper on thursday showing how you could clone a google tightened security gate this is a two factor authentication key which is very similar to a you. Be key that you have to plug in or tap in order to access an account after putting in your username or your password credentials. Were both so in order to pull off the clone. You would need physical access to the key for about ten hours. Sometimes a minimum of ten hours just kind of depends on how good you are at this. About twelve thousand dollars worth of equipment physical equipment and custom software and some advanced skills in electrical engineering and cryptography as well. So you have to remove the chip and then take measurements of it at a being registered on each account that you went to attack the measurements observe electro magnetic radiation as the chip generates digital signatures that let the attacker slowly deduced the private key so measurements take about six hours per account. That's not including taking apart. The original tighten security key putting it back together. Then you need to seal the chip back into its case. You also need the targets password in order for this to work. So the reason it works is because of vulnerability in the security hardware chip residing within the google titan key and that is called an eighty seven hundred x by this company called. Xp if it's exploited in attacker could grab the elliptic curve cryptographic private key for the account and the same chip is actually found in other two factor. Authentication physical tokens as well like There's a ubiquity that it's found in but chances of attack or very very minimal given the scope of the attack so if you do all of this without the target ever noticing then they would never duplicated key but again given the scope given how much it costs and everything behind the scenes probably when it happened to normal user. The point of these security keys being the best way to use For two factor. Is that you can't even get at your private key right you. Nobody has to be able to get in there like the chip. Just doesn't make it available so the fact that they were able to get in there and get it is huge. You know the fact that they were able to do this is significant. But i mean if you're not a target of an advanced persistent threat. You don't need to worry about this. No one's going to go to the trouble to do this. And even if you're a target. I would guess shannon that most of them probably would be able to notice if someone took their key for ten hours or more you. You likely likely would especially since a lot of people with hardware tokens like google titan will stick them on a on their keychain for example like with their house keys or whatever wherever they keep all those personal physical devices that they don't want lost or stolen they keep them all on engaging so if somebody was to take one of these out of your purse out of your gym locker wherever it might be and remove it for like ten hour street minimum. You would likely know that this would have happened. the neat thing about these chips inside of these. Google tightened security keys. And any other cryptographic hardware tokens like these is that. Even the manufacturer doesn't know the private key so the fact that they were able to find vulnerability on these specific chipsets is really interesting. And i think that's the important bit of that. Is is even though the google titan like the end all be all of really excellent. Two factor authentication. There's always. The potential that vulnerabilities can be found. So i'm happy that this research came out. It's so fascinating and it's so interesting in this means that an x. p. and other security chipset manufacturers that sell these teeny tiny chips to google or whoever the company might be They can build on this. They can research and figure out what the next version of their chipset needs to entail in order to not be vulnerable to this again in the future. Yeah i mean this is really a good security story right. We finally figured out because there's always a way right. We finally figured out the way you get the private key out of a security key and guess what it's really hard takes a long time and now that we know it we can make it even harder and hopefully you know push that barrier out even further and even if somebody did have time to do this and you didn't notice i was reading the paper because i'm a huge nerd and they go as far as using fuming fuming nitric acid in order to get like melt the epoxy off of the original google titan. How are you going to put that back together. In order for somebody to not notice like there's a lot of intricacies with this attack in order for it to actually be pulled off so chances are very very slim that somebody would be able to pull off so again as i said at the very beginning. Don't stop using your google tightened security key if you have one keep using it because chances are you would never be attacked with this. Just just know if you haven't seen it in ten hours look together strange. This is going to be in a movie though. I'm calling that shot right now. We're gonna we're gonna see this movie. Where like i hope so. Somebody goes into surgery and they take his key and they go out and do all this and they slip it back in because ten hours later. He wakes up from anesthesia on something like that. I just hope they talked to the researchers so they actually show it off right. Yeah Sony tv and audio announcements Starting with details for its own tv lineup. Sticking with lead ravi x four k and k. Tv's will support four k at one hundred twenty hertz variable refresh rate vr as well as a l l m low latency mode and e arc. These are all things that are important. If you've got a ps five now you've got sony. Tv they can go. That sony also has an improved a chip that is going to improve the picture and sound positioning. So it aligns with what you see on the screen. Sony's master series. Tv's will come with a sensor that adjusts white balanced immense. Your ambiente color temp. You don't have to do anything they'll just do it. Also an aluminum heat shield. That will make for brighter. All the sets will support. Hdmi two point one. Another big one for ps five dolby vision hdr angle tv. Sony also announced. It's three hundred sixty reality audio platform if you're not familiar with three hundred sixty degree audio places instruments and vocals in a virtual sound field around your head but using just the one speaker so you can do this in an amazon echo or google. Home sony will start streaming video with three sixty audio later this year. Starting with concert from zara larsson on january eleventh. And somebody's gonna make speakers that support this. It'll be may supported by other speakers as well. But sony is going to put out the are five thousand and three thousand They've got that dark cloth. Surface that all these speakers seem to have these days with either bronze or silver accents. Work with google and amazon assistance and can connect to select sony abroad via. Tv's as well as supporting wi fi bluetooth. Spotify connect in google cast. The speakers do automated calibration to the room. They're in donut. The press a button for that. Either and we'll simulate three hundred sixty degree audio for stereo tracks as well. The five thousand cost five hundred pounds or five hundred ninety nine euros no. Us price yet on the three thousand two hundred eighty pounds. Three hundred fifty nine euros. This seems this. Seems like it's shaping up to be one of the trends. Is this the sort of three hundred sixty degree audio while you're listening to your black bank and it's just one speaker or potentially a couple of speakers ativan. Maybe yeah yeah already supported. Yeah there's less of kind of like What do i have to do. Five point one surround or at least get a couple of speakers and make them a stereo pair type thing. I really haven't heard this in. I don't know. I used to hang out at magnolia at best. Buy all the time. And just like geek out on stuff like this. of course. this technology wasn't around at the time. But it's really come on. Let's turn on some stuff and see the speakers. Do it works well. Then that's awesome my first reaction because i got rid of my kind of pants speakers some years ago because friend of mine needed them more than i did and i didn't have room in my apartment but i miss that i'm also an a. A permanent now that's smaller and kind of has a lot of weird angles and i find audio bounces off walls in wiz. That wouldn't if it was more of a square box broom So i'm not sure that i'm the perfect target market for this. You're the you're the one puts this through its paces and sees if it really works. Yeah if i could actually work as advertised again with some funny angles in a big old frame. Then i'm i'm really into this and i've always been. I don't have a sony. Tv currently sorry zony. But i was abroad. Bravi a person for years. Nears i think what the new bravi line is coming out with. Looks really nice. And i mean not totally in the market for a new tv. But i like the fact that i might get a new sony again paired up with a sony speaker. You got three six. Yeah already got all this stuff. It's going to be a messed anyway. You slice it. But i like. I like this to be sixty reality audio platform. What would you have set up in your house. I was straight up going to mention sonos because if if it doesn't have the connectability to be able to work with all of my other platforms that currently have invested in. Then chances are i wouldn't buy it. So i do have sono says in my house and i do have some issues connecting those with other speakers in the household to like like my google hub for example so the fact that this works with google and amazon assistant the speaker specifically The audio speakers. I think that's pretty cool. I like that. They are bringing that in and i am interested because i do live in a household. That has very high ceilings. How this would work in that kind of environment. So yeah. I'm very interested in the audio aspect. Well you might also be interested in what colour has come out. Oh yes the folks who make things like toilets and and sinks and lots of appliances however. Been a real. Cas mainstay for the last few years for some cool innovations and this year is no different. Even though we're not in vegas koehler has a new smart bathtub called the stillness bath. That lets you use an app or use your voice using google or amazon's assistance to fill up the water or perhaps set the mood by changing the color of the lights around the tab or even add some fog. You know you wanna kind of pretend like you're in the then present routines also turn on features in a certain orders if you wanna get kind of creative. that's cool. Yeah the certain amount of limitations with the base model and the base model is not cheap so temperature and depth control models alone will cost around eight thousand six hundred ninety eight dollars. That's right it's almost nine thousand dollar bathtub. If you want the experience tower that lets you activate fog and aromatherapy. That will run you just over ten thousand dollars. Both models are available in july. There are real things and if you want the version with lights and floor grades for overflow fifteen thousand nine hundred ninety eight dollars available. This october signed me off. I won't be buying those. Nope not even a little bit but we could have taken a bath at s in the new in the pre show roger was like. Why would you want fog. It's like this. Why does anyone want to be on. Yeah racist luxury suites in hotels for sure as well as apple's houses sure yeah something well. Yeah it's it's that like hey look at what my bath can do people go. Wow very fancy and then you know ten years from now will be like remember when we thought it was fancied to talk to your bathtub so that it would start filling up without touching it but Yeah it's it's somewhat silly because of the price. But i'm not really much of a bath person but they do look very nice all right. Let's check out the mail bag but ads do it. Nick wrote in with a pronunciation. Ramps own neck. You are not alone he says. Ac's rog is an initial list. Because it's our og like fbi or cia. People say ron yet. They're lower end gaming brand tough not initially them. It's an acronym like scuba or produce you f but pronounced off. It's like ace's can't make up their name minds. Then there's strict which is our subbrand strikes as a word it's a completely nonsensical made up word. But it's a word and you pronounce it as such nick as honestly as somebody. That buys a lot of hardware. Because i've rarely had a bad experience with them over the past twenty years. I am baffled by some branding decisions. The one the bugs me. The most is the strict subbrand. Sometimes acis makes the tricks products. The high end product in the product stock yet other times. It's a mid range product. Would it be too much to ask for consistency and product. Branding twenty twenty one. Yes apparently apparently we feel your pain. Nick i love the dichter's just like i just need to vent you guys. ‘It Has To Stop’: Metro Atlanta Election Officials Receive Death Threats During Recount

"All gone too far. All of it. Joji Gentlemen today asked for Chris friends, a patriot who ran CISA to be shot. Twentysomething check and when it counted today has death threats and a noose put out, saying it should be hung for treason because he was transferring a report on batches from PMS toe account a computer so he could read it. It has to stop. Mr President. You have not condemned these actions or this language senators. You have not condemned this language or these actions. This has to stop. We need you to step up. And if you could take a position of leadership show something that was top ranking Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling Joe Degenova is on President Trump's legal team for his election lawsuits. Chris Krebs is the former United States director of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency, who was fired from his position two weeks ago. Here's more from Sterling, Mr President. It looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia. We're investigating. There's always a possibility I get and you have the rights to go through the courts. What you don't have the ability to do and you need to step up and say this is stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone's gonna get hurt. Someone's gonna get shot. Someone's gonna get killed. Here to talk about what's going on in the lead up to Georgia's Senate runoff, says Emma Hurt a reporter at W A. B C. That's Atlanta's NPR station. Emma. Thanks so much for being here. Thanks for having me Jen, so just elaborate a bit more on sterling speech. What threats are election officials and workers facing the state. Yes. So he's talking specifically about a contractor in his twenties for the voting machine company that state uses. There was a video of him that went sort of viral on pro Trump social media, and there was a close up of his name badge. And so he was personally targeted. You know, Sterling mentioned a news being found outside his house. He's had death threats, said he should be hung for treason. His family has also been targeted. And this isn't the first time that there's been this kind of attack on a election worker of Fulton County election worker had to go into hiding closer to the election because he was being harassed because of a different out of context. Viral video. And I mean, our senators immediately responded to Sterling's statement, saying, We do condemn this violence. The president's campaign also said that but you know, they said, we're going to stand by our questioning of the election. We still think that things went wrong. But the president this morning didn't take that. Fact, he called the election rigged again. Which again you know, Election officials have repeatedly said, isn't true. So it zip it of chaos right now. Well, as you say the allegations of widespread misconduct are simply not True, but is that clear to voters in Georgia? Yeah. I mean, that's the question, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be to some voters on down in Georgia and across the country, even though these messages about there being no evidence of widespread voter fraud have been consistently coming out of Georgia's Republican controlled secretary of state's office. Those officials are now being attacked from the right for saying that by supporters of the president who believe that the election was rigged and that there were problems President Trump called our secretary of state, the enemy of the people. That's someone that he endorsed and who endorsed him on DSA. So it's the Republican officials are trying their best to counter this misinformation. Starling called it a game of whack a mole, but you know, it's a difficult, you know, you wonder if voters will hear that if they're already Questioning those officials personally, will they believe them when they tell them that there have been now two recounts in Georgia? What's the latest? Yes. So we had a hand count that was part of a state wide audit last week, and this week is the kind of formal recount by machines scanner that the Trump campaign requested. What we heard this morning from the secretary of State's office is that it's on track and that they're not seeing any Signs that the voting the vote totals might change by very much at all.

The people behind tonight's 60 Minutes

"Listen to what. Chris griggs said on sixty minutes last night. There's no foreign power that is flipping votes. There's no domestic actor flipping votes. I'd better right. We did it right. This was a secure election tonight. Joe digenova who used to be in the nineteen ninety a reasonably respected washington lawyer has collapsed into the point of an i mean mentally collapsed to the point where he said tonight that chris krebs who we just saw. There should be taken out at dawn and shot Now that's the kind of thing that's going to get you disbarred. Possibly in washington dc. And who knows what's gonna be left to rig juliani law license when this is over obviously calling for someone to be shot calling for violence on someone is reprehensible and the idea is that this is part of this. This is what happens when conspiracy theories get out of hand and where you have someone like the president who is has a big bully pulpit a big powerful voice as being president of the united states amplifying and spreading conspiracy theories you have people in lockstep with the president saying crazy things now of course the president is not said that christopher crabs could be shot. That's clear at least for now but what we do know. Is that the people around president. They've all been saying things they're just simply don't make sense. I mean you think about really guiliani and saying that there are dead people voting. You think about Sidney powell saying that there's some sort of venezuelan conspiracy theory and that the venezuelans are behind. Why why the government didn't wasn't able to to have an election with integrity. All of these things are false. This idea that you're calling for christopher comes to be shot is really scary but it just the tip the iceberg so many people who find themselves on the other side of president trump we we all in some ways understand that there is there violent intent behind this you think the fact that these election workers that are just simply counting the votes simply doing their jobs. They are getting death threats. They're having to hire security to to protect themselves. These scary times. And i think that the president Some of this the bucks in some ways talks with the president and his own language but of course that person saying that christopher crevice should be shot that's of course going even farther than president. Trump has gone so we'll have to just watch that space to see what actually happens in that case a on when we look at The trump sorry the biden white house staff announcement today. A jen psaki for example as white house press secretary. That just a typifies. What we're seeing in all of these choices. Joe biden's basically going to people who have already proved they can do these jobs. And many of whom have done a version of these jobs in the past and some in the campaign. And when you imagine a jen. Psaki ron white house. Press briefing room starting january twenty first That is a return to normal. That would have been forgotten If the trump presidency had continued essentially valid point in in some respects. The hiring of jen psaki and the other people on that. Communications team is so unremarkable. Because these are just sorta standard. I'll be very accomplished. In extremely capable professionals in dc on the other hand the point of we have is this current administration which has turned the briefing room into essentially a a chance to spread donald trump propaganda. That is not tethered to reality And so what we have to do. We have to adjust our expectations. I don't want to like lower. The bar too much for gen. No she can clear it but you know we need to have a return of normalcy of backs of information a big In the briefing room. Because that's not just a chance for the president to get his word out. It's a chance for the american public to understand what the machinations of government are doing and what they're taxpayer-funded representatives are doing. And i hope that you know jen appreciates that mission reinstates it and like you said it shouldn't be a remarkable higher but there is a huge task ahead of her not just in advancing clients interest in this case the president but in restoring very either of trust that i think is instrumental to the functioning democracy quickly. Before you go you'll be in that white house. Press briefing room with jen psaki. What do you anticipate Starting january twenty first in that room for why anticipate actual briefings which we have not seen regularly with the trump administration. I expect someone who's gonna come to the pulpit and the accurate and be fair Obviously offering defenses of president-elect fighting then president biden and we're going to of course have tense exchanges. Reporters are always going to be pushing wanting more information. But i think there's going be a level of respect that has not been there in the last four years both with her treating reporters in screaming at them. Criticizing them in the way that we've seen with the trump administration you michelle cinder and sam stein. Thank you very much restoring off our discussion really appreciate it. thank you both.

Trump ousts Homeland Security cyber chief Chris Krebs, who called election secure

"Let's talk about chris. Crabs the name that lit up social media last night even though was completely unsurprising. He's a former microsoft executive end until last night he's been leading homeland. Security's cybersecurity and infrastructure agency usually called cisa cisa was formed after twenty sixteen for obvious reasons to help strengthen our voting systems protect them from cyber attacks last week after trump kept bringing up this conspiracy theory about the voting machines changing his votes to biden votes. Crabs put out a statement that said that. This was the most secure election that we've had in that there was no evidence of any voting system deleting losing or changing votes. They were not compromised. He said well. You can't speak the truth in the trump administration so he was unceremoniously fired last night in a tweet because of course he was but he's been expecting to be fired. Trump here is just like someone really immature trying to play chess and when they lose right before they lose it. Just shovel the pieces off the board and flip over the board. That's what he's doing. He's just taking his anger out on one. I said yesterday that he's going through the stages of grief on twitter but actually his only stage might be anger and sure if he has all the stages of grief this was really a dumb move because trump was blocking crabs from speaking to the biden transition team. Now that he's fired. Trump has no control over him. So krebs can tell the biden team. Anything that isn't classified materials and i guess my question would be to anyone who's still working in the administration like who hasn't been fired. What's stopping you from talking to biden like it's not protocol but you know what are they gonna do. I guess we have to play by the rules if we want others to do so but at the same time it's literally life and death in there just playing games to appease a toddler so honestly just talked to biden

Trump fires nation's top election security official who disputed fraud claims

"A town were. Disagreement is par for the course. Today there was one thing that almost all of washington could agree on namely that the government's top election security cyber cyber security official. Chris crabs did a great job protecting our democracy and did not deserve to be fired. Chris crabs was dismissed last night via presidential tweet after he repeatedly pushed back on trump's claims of election fraud and after his agency refused white house. Requests to edit or remove informational accurate content which was pushing back against trump's false election claims most notably krebs cybersecurity and infrastructure. Security agency cisa. It's a unit within the department of homeland security last week called the november third election quote the most secure in american history adding that there is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes changed votes or was in any way compromised and quote democrats today reacted to krebs firing with predictable outrage but notably they were joined by many republicans including some of the president's most ardent defenders in congress to presents variety to the confusion entails. I'm sure i'm not the only one that we'd like. Return to more of a lot on what's normally of course. Well chris krebs is rightfully earning plaudits in an enhanced reputation for a job. Well done and for standing up to this president. This lack of normalcy is likely to continue for the remaining nine weeks left to go in this administration. We all need a way to get through it. So i'm happy to give you one. I'm happy say the joining us now to discuss this story and others is someone who obviously needs no introduction on this show or anywhere else the inestimable. Rachel meadow rachel. It is so great to see you here. I'm going to ask you the first question on behalf of all of your viewers how are you. I am great valley and let me just start by saying how thankful i am to you for doing for stepping in for me on zero notice and doing this at length. You've just been fantastic and my staff loves working with you and you just. I've been watching every night and you guys are doing an amazing job and so i am grateful to you for making it possible for me to be important which is Which has been a trip. But i'm i'm fine. I have continued to test negative through this whole thing. Which means that. I'm getting close to the end of my quarantine period. I will hopefully think potentially be back hosting either tomorrow night or the night after in which case i will have more to say about where i been in what i've been doing and what it's been like. I definitely have some stuff to say about that. And i want to let people know what's been going on but bottom line is i'm grateful to you and i'm finding i will be back in something that looks like your chair pretty said well you come in the time that is needed for you to come and as i remind our viewers all the time This continues to be your staff who put the show together and it has your dna and it's so we're we're glad for that. I want to ask you about this topic. We were just talking about chris. Crabs a man who was responsible for trying to keep at least outside interference and cyber interference out of our election. He told people last week he thought he was going to get fired and then last night in typical fashion. He got fired by tweet for doing his job. The president directly contradicted him saying he was wrong about what he said. This election was not safe. Votes were changed votes that were cast for trump became biden votes and chris. Krebs is now no longer there. What do you make of this. I a couple of things i mean. In terms of krebs himself. I feel like it's worth reflecting. On the fact that i don't know that there is anybody else who has served particularly at a high level in the trump administration who has come out of it not just with an enhanced reputation for having done a job very well and done right by the country and taking something. That was very very difficult. That other people have had a really hard time with and sort of nailing it doing it well but also leaving not just with his badge of honor of being fired by the president for having done his job well leaving without having compromised himself without having bit his tongue without having kowtowed to the president or compromised himself in any way that was trying to either stave off himself being fired or trying not to rock the boat or trying to go along to get along. Which so many good people have fallen prey to because that's the way the president manipulates people gets what he wants and so i think chris crabs is being lauded justifiably by people on all sides of the ideological spectrum and all levels of government for having done a really good job but he also really in some ways stands alone in terms of having done well and done right and not having bent himself to the vagaries of this president. I think that's really important. I will also say the alley. That i think there's an institutional thing to watch out for. Because part of the reason we started talking about crabs potentially being fired last week was when a divisional chief at cisa got fired. Then krebs himself got fired. His deputy also got fired. What's happened is this agency has been decapitated and that has a couple of risks. One is that this is a dozen just work on election security. They are responsible for example for protecting vaccine. Researchers from what appears to be a robust international malign effort to interfere with and steal vaccine data by actors like potentially north korea iran russia That's really important. We reported in recent weeks on hospitals being hit with ransomware attacks russian-speaking gangs from the former soviet union hitting us hospitals in the middle of this pandemic with ransomware attacks and locking their computer systems. That's also with instances remain. We need an agency. That's good at that stuff but also in terms of the election. i mean the there are still being counted. There are recounts happening. there are certification. Tallies that are coming up and people including senators on the intelligence committee have warned that this is one of the times when we are quite vulnerable to disinformation and potentially foreign interference. Somebody might target the understanding of the american people to try to confuse us an upset us and muddied the result of the election now as it is being finalized and finally tabulated and so two houses a plan so well not just to have him ousted but to have all the whole upper echelons of the agency taken out for these reasons at this time is very dangerous for lots of different reasons. And i'm i'm very very uncomfortable with not just what this means for but what the implications are for our national security one of the reasons i would like you back is because rather than doing it myself. I'd like to hear your narration of this legal clown car. That is driving around the united states stopping michigan last night with the board of canvassers in wayne. County not agreeing to certify detroit's election results than fifteen million three hours later after getting pressure decided to do so. Rudy giuliani walking into a court. Case after twenty eight years Walk into a courtroom in philadelphia not really understanding the law very well. Republicans putting pressure on the secretary of state of georgia. It is a bit of a clown car but they are doing stuff to stop this election from being certified and to stop the administration from taking the reins and getting their transition moving. Yeah that's right. And i think you had really interesting conversation. Stacey abrams about this earlier in the hour alley. And i. I think that one thing. That's that's interesting that we can see at work is what you were talking about with her about the secretary of state and georgia the republican secretary of state who's absolutely been involved in contentious voting rights disputes with voting rights advocates like abrahams with democrats in georgia but his emerging here as a sort of normal republican and not a trump republican in the sense that he's not exactly a champion of voting rights in georgia georgia's had all these troubles but he's also not willing to go along with the insanity of the trump republican claims that the georgia election should be thrown out because of some magic dust that they've imagined they can cast over those election results so i do think that this is accelerating in some small ways with republican elections officials whether it's local commissioners in pennsylvania or the secretary of state in georgia or other people who are just sort of you know regular elected officials who are responsible for election integrity finding themselves affronted by the president and his legal team are trying to do in a way that i think maybe is giving us a little bit of a peak had a post trump republican party or at least where the schism might be between trump and and republicanism as we move forward.

"Security official Christopher Crabs publicly contradicted President Trump's unfounded claims about widespread election fraud last night. Those remarks cost him His job. The president tweeted that he had fired crabs over what he called highly inaccurate comments. Crabs agency had called the 2020 election the most secure ever. Discuss We're joined by Kirsten Tote, managing director of the cyber reading this Institute and former cyber security adviser to President Obama. Kirsten. You know, obviously this is an important job that prescribes was doing. Are you worried it over American security at this very moment, not having a director of cyber and infrastructure security. Thanks, Emily. Thanks for being with you is always the short answer is no, I'm not worried, And that's because of the work that prescribes has done over the last two years. So this agency, the cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency just came into being in 2018. And Chris and his team spent two years ensuring the security of this election, as well as future elections going to state local governments securing infrastructure across the nation. And because of that work, the team in place now is very much prepared to address handling government. We have continuity of operations in government. That's what good government does, and that's a testament to the leadership of system to Chris Cribs to his deputy, Matt Travis. Onto the team. And so while it is unfortunate it is an irresponsible act on the part of this president to have fired him. I'm not concerned about the security of the nation. The president, of course, doing this via tweet again claiming election fraud and that what Chris Krebs has said in the past about election security is quote highly. An accurate crabs, actually responding on Twitter as well, saying, I never claimed there wasn't fraud in the election because that's not since his job. It's a law enforcement matter. We did provide information on measures election officials used to prevent and detect Dead voters, though. Don't buy it and think twice before sharing. Um, you know, what do you think This says it all about the integrity of the election. I think Based on what we've heard across multiple jurisdictions, we have 10,000 voting jurisdictions in this country. State and local officials from both parties have all come forward to validate the integrity of the election. And there's no reason to doubt all of those voices who were on the ground, securing the integrity and that was one of the key focus points and it was an impressive election from the perspective of national security. When you think of all of the threats that we know were and are coming at us. There's no reason to believe anything other than all of the people that are on the ground, the government officials, state and local governments, jurisdictions who have all validated the integrity of this election.

"So when it comes to election security it turns out. There's no job security. Trump's purges continue his. Latest is the ousting of chris. Cribs krebs was dhs security cyber security official. Who lost his job for contradicting trump's claims of a fraudulent and stolen election. In fact krebs said. It was the most secure election in american history. Join us a line for on this and other headlines is national security expert juliette kayem. She's an analyst at cnn forces secretary of the department of homeland security yourself in faculty chair the homeland security program at harvard. University's kennedy school of government. Hello juliet our you. We're great to talk to you. Great to talk to you both on zoom this time so we shouldn't have problems like we did last time. Good fingers crossed. So i'm heartened by. Chris crabs even though he just got fired by the press because he's he's was speaking truth to power in the classic sense saying that the there's not widespread fraud in this election. He did fire but his republican but at least he stood up to the president. Yes exactly and i think that's the way to view it. I know everyone so nervous. And you know we have a right to be. This is no way to treat a democracy or a peaceful transition of power but nonetheless The president is now just wildly searching for a narrative of how he how he loses which he's already lost and so that's every lawsuit he can bring. She's losing about thirty of them at a time. It is questioning the voting process and questioning the voting results and so Firing chris crabs who ran an office that was not only did heroic work in terms of supporting election and the election from foreign interference But also one. That was pushing back against disinformation That was coming out of the white house so that is a good thing. So chris i know chris is. Chris knew he was going to get fired. There's no one's crying here. This was this was someone who believed that. His role was for the united states and not for president. He did his job. The president is petty. chris's deputy quit Chris's the third in line. Who's running the office with someone who can't be fired easily. 'cause he's career and has been part of cybersecurity for while the president will soon discover how How hard it is to. You know to undermine the truth which was that. They did a successful job. So let me just say. This guy's unbelie not only speaking of truth to power around election day. Listen to this guy in october. It's almost like he knew what his boss. Donald trump is gonna say. Here is a krebs in october Talking about what might happen. Post november third patient. That's a lot of opportunity space for the bad guys. Whoever they are to come in and try to so chaos so doubt in the integrity of the process and remember attempts to de-legitimize. The election aren't going to stop on election day. How perfect is that. I mean described to a tee. Exactly what his boston right. So trump had one. Then you know then then no one would. No one be thinking about chris. Christopherson -ticipant either. That it was closed or the biden would win. And so here's the thing so trump's not sophisticated. I mean he's a bullet in china shop. You everyone wonders. If there's some master chess game going on. There's not. I mean he he he he only cares about himself and he's he's bringing us closer bringing us to on unreasonable ledges or cliffs than than need be but in the end. You know this is. Chris was ten steps ahead of him as well as the department in terms of the side in terms of defending the election and ultimately of course trump

He basically was the most important cybersecurity official and arguably the most important election security official in the United States of America.
