"Who is at his best when he's just shooting gaps or when I don't mean isn't a bad way this time, but just freelancing when he's allowed to do what Chris Jones wants to do that to me is at his best I. Don't think you can do that at defensive in Steve, Spagnuola near as easily as he can do it defensive tackle so I think throughout the year I think you're going to see him out there occasionally, but I don't think it's GonNa. Be often enough to even make this whole conversation. We're doing now. I'm going to be worth the fifteen minutes that we spent on a while. We are really selling this show. Aren't we guys? One thing. He finds five-star. We're really working hard here. The one thing I do want to look at though I I'm GonNa be curious is what Chris Jones comes in at plate this year. How what's their planned for him? Because like we've looked at the prototypes assise bag. No actually think we're about to talk about it here in a second. Let's just jump Bush's jump to that. We'll just go there. What I Chris. Craig, that's a good idea to maybe just look at the Chris Contract. Ed maybe see what it kind of means for the future you know so. What do you think this means for holdouts, Craig? Well prior to this Andy. Reid didn't mess around with players who held out lake. He didn't give them what they wanted. Time and time again in recent history we've seen players get shipped off when they held out, OTA's not necessarily training camp at some of them didn't want to show up Campbell on time. It's just one of those situations that Andy Reid hate that. He wants everybody in the building. He wants everybody there and studying and on the same page that he wants it so much. That's why they go to Saint Joe. He doesn't want any distractions. Anyone's ever in the building. You're holding out. He's mad. Make no mistake. Andy Reid was angry. That Chris Jones was not here last year. Before this everybody had been shipped out now all the sudden, they have set a precedent that. If you hold out, you can still get paid. You know, and that's not a bad thing from a player perspective. I'm not trying to say at the bad thing, but it may change the way that Br beach and company have to deal with some of these players coming up just as an. An example, not saying this player will, but if McColl. Hartman wants more money. When the individual rookie deal comes up, and he holds out, he can point to Chris Jones and say hey, listen. He held out to, and he got his payday, so don't try and bring that up with me, so we'll see how that affects it. It's just a new precedent for an Andy Reid led team. Absolutely and I think beyond just holding out. I think what you're seeing right now is the chiefs are paying a lot of money to players right now like they are willing to give out massive contracts right now. Whereas in the past before Brett Beach, there was sometimes some issues with getting massive contracts players Kansas. City I think we've all kind of remember A. A few of those throughout the years. How they drug along a little too long you got two of them and back to back years. tyreek hill got good money Mitchell Schwartz they are willing to give out good money for good players right now. That means guys like. Let's say Tire Matthew. His deal comes up various ward if he feels like he's worth. Worth a lot of money like these guys all now have a stance to say like. Hey, you're paying everybody. You'RE GONNA pay us to, and then like Craig said when you have a guy that's held out now for the first time under Andrew Awhile besides Eric Berry which I mean that does have to be brought up, Eric Berry did hold out and. Get paid technically afterwards, but you now have other guy in Chris Jones that held out and he was planning on holding out twice and then they still got a deal. I do think that resonates with players. They now know that they if they have to hold out to get more money. There is a chance that they will get to stick around. What do you think it has to say about? The defensive tackle size now I would kind of just tipped it off earlier. But what do you think that has? What do you think this all says about what they're doing at defensive tackle? If Christians kicks out the defensive end and I think it's pretty clear. They better run defenders playing on the here like if he does play outside. It's probably because they see him for a liability as a run, defender and I think the stats kind of. The chiefs were averaging about one yard less per rush with Chris Jones not on the field, and they were with him on the field and I think that kind of alliance. When you watch, you, ask you make some really incredible splash plays. Run their their. She'll shoot a gap and completely destroyed. Run plan the blink of an eye. It's just that happens so few and far. Far between versus times where he doesn't hold his gap, or gives out of his assignment and somebody else look bad because of it so I just think if you see a outside, they want bigger stouter run defenders of interior. Now we thought this last year in Christians played pretty much the whole year. Defensive tackle so I. Think we just kind of have to wait and see? Yeah and that that's really the thing because we're back. Louis stuck with Chris and I don't mean that in a bad way. Like Christians was under contract. He was there Steve. SPAGNUOLA had to figure out how to use him. He used them at defensive tackle. Last year now they went and paid him. This is not done in a vacuum. It's not like Steve's bag. Nola was sitting at home with. With, the rest of us and seeing things come across. You know his time line going wait. We signed Chris Jones now. This is authorized by Steve Spagnolo so he's got a plant here if he's playing Chris. Jones a little lighter Chris Jones this marks one of the first times that he's done that, and we also saw this off season the addition of Mike. Dana I e smaller, defensive lineman that. That doesn't really fit the criteria here. We may be starting to see a shift in mentality amongst Steve spagnolo. Maybe Brennan dailies got a big affect on all of this. Maybe we. Maybe we'll find out here in the near future. The types of players that dailies looking for instead of what's bags is looking for I. Just think it's it brings a lot of questions up here like when we're doing. Doing our draft val with discussing these types of players guys that they're going after and free agency and stuff like that. It just brings more questions now. Because now we've got a little bit more examples of guys that were different size. We have I mean I. It's not just a defensive tackle I think we're kind of seeing that. Some exceptions are being being named with guys like Mike Danna. You know so we're. We are seeing some adjustments to what we've typically seen in the. Maybe that's influenced from a Brennan Brennan daily. Maybe it's Steve's bag. No I don't know. Yet. Craig said kind of made me want to throw in the tin foil hat real. Quick a Steve's bag. No of being stuck with Chris Jones last year. C. Span little comes in. He's quote. Unquote stuck with Chris Jones. WHO's holding out for more money when Chris go shows up, what if see spinal doesn't feel like?.

"Don't know I feel last year. I really. Kinda tried to drive this point home that I thought Chris. Jones could play defensive end. Do it pretty well for Steve. SPAGNUOLA because fits kind of link yet. He was a little heavy, but he's. He was still quite athletic for the size. He would probably fit in well there and I thought. Thought it would maybe hide his part. Run Defense at times the defensive tackle, but then we saw it last year. I just don't think Christians defensive. End was very good I think he was attacked and space by running plays. They were able to make Christiane stretch out his outside zone. When they ran away from him, he had a hard time closing down cutback lanes I also think. Think anytime. You throw a QB rolling out his way on a run. Look. He's going to change the quarterback in. You've seen a do that from defensive tackle now. That's part of his actual. Simon is a defensive end I think you're going to have quite a few plays where he's caught looking at a quarterback at not the running back with the football. So this I see A. A lot of questions for him playing defensive end both first round, and then even is a pass rusher. He's an athletic defensive. Tackle super-athlete at defensive, tackle and defensive end. He's an average athlete at best in terms of speed explosion in agility, I just it almost looks like you're losing too much of his edge. When you put them on the outside, the has on the interior. And for those who maybe are tuning in we, we talked about this last offseason because of the spagnolo tight for everything like that, and then we talked about a little bit during the season as Chris. Jones came back and right before the titans game when the chiefs defense events were just so banged up Chris, Jones had to cycle in, and he had to play defensive end in that game, and it wasn't particularly good now the argument could be made as far as the chiefs point of view if they're looking at him for defensive imposition is we had to thrust him into that role like we knew that we had okay four. We knew we had Clark odd. We had. Tunnel passing no, they thought maybe they had speaks that they were planning to play him outside like they had their defensive end rotation, and then they lost them all so Christians. Have just kinda thrust out into that role now if they're approaching it this year with the understanding of hey, we're going to try and convert you. We're going to try and play you in the base. You know less than twenty percent of the snaps outside on the edged kind of help. Set the run, and then at any hint that it's a passing down your movements I'd bring in Oakland for bringing in Tana passing on the outside somebody. That's also a good pass rusher and let him work as an Interior defensive linemen. If that's the case you know Christians making twenty million dollars a year miles gear. It's getting paid twenty five. You Know Frank Clark's getting paid twenty. One Chris Jones has obviously not exhibited that sort of defensive incapability in this at this point in his career, but if he were to develop as an outside inside defender that can bring home, a lot of sex and both spots. That's almost a bargain, so I I do think that financially they may, if that is, the plan may be able to get a bargain if in year two or three. If they decide to do this, they could basically get on the cheek below market value. Yeah that's that's a fascinating thought. I mean the whole thing is interesting. And maybe it was just a throwaway comment from Andy. Reid I don't know. Maybe maybe we spent ten minutes. Hey is the end of the off season. Give us a raise the end of the week. If that is the case, but I mean you're right eighty. We just doesn't say stuff like that, and that doesn't seem like just a throwaway comment. Maybe there's a little hint that they might be doing some things with some of the some of the early downs. That could be fascinating because if Chris. Jones is out playing in and they can teach him then he plays it at eye level. I mean. You've got a real stout front because you're kicking. One of those put one of those big three hundred plus pound guys inside too so now. You've really beefed up your front. And you create a little bit more flexibility is fascinating. It's fascinating. Would you do it Craig No! To be honest the what the image that comes into my mind like. Matt even said it before I was talking about as an unblocked defensive end trying to pursue after a running back, Chris. Jones just doesn't have that same burst or speed. He's an excellent defensive tackle. He's excellent. Knifing through gaining you know gaining penetration, but being able to bend to the corner and attack the the running back at the line of scrimmage. Like like we've seen frank. Frank Clark Duke repeatedly last season when he was healthy. That's not Chris Jones's game and so teams will take advantage of that so i. don't think that I would, but I'm also fine with Christian just playing passing downs. That's where he's best. He's a pure pass rusher, so let him go out there and wreck havoc as a pass rusher. That's what you're paying them to do. For me, not only would. I probably not do it last year, said yes, but this year I like I've already said I don't think Christiane Look like defensive Donis out there playing I don't like. The chiefs are going to do it either I really don't I think the way the defensive ends are asked to play for this team are even more assignment, sound or not, even assignment sound just assign that heavy like they have to rely on their defensive. It's so much for this defensive scheme to work. They have to make the right play so many times and do so many different things that I like. That's putting a lot of stuff on Christians, who?.

"Good morning everyone welcome first things first started lovely Tuesday morning wherever you are. I'm sure it's lovely Jenna Wolfe Nick Right, having wild Brian, west is with us. We got lots going on this morning. Cowboys are adding an interesting little wrinkle to their offense. This season, the latest NFL insider to say Cam Newton is not a lot to start for the Patriots Week One and were given out NBA awards this morning. Well Nicholas we receive all ahead on first things first we gotta start this morning with the defending super bowl champion Kansas. City chiefs who appear to be convinced they'll be doing a lot. Lot of defending for years to come chase locking Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones for the long haul this off season, prompting both to throw around the word that for twenty years has been reserved only for the Patriots and that Word Friends is dynasty. Apparently, it's got a nice ring to it. According to some chiefs, players tyreek Hill Chami in with this I'm proud of just the chiefs in general for getting all these deals on men, because they understand right now is our time like this is our window to be great for us to build here's that word again dynasty? Chris Jones followed up with. This is only the beginning. Be Prepared to have another parade and another. And another great I've already lost count. We're GONNA make sure we bring not one not two, not three, not four guys, five plus rings to Kansas City. It's been fifty years of waiting, but the wait is over now. It's time to create your. It is again a dynasty. Nick I Ask you, you are resident chase fan. You worried at all that all this dynasty. Talk I mean they really this group of guys. They've only won one so far. No, I'm not worried about it I'm encouraged by it. And listen. The table is obviously set perfectly for the chiefs and Ginger Right. They've only won one mahomes only been the starter for two years. The first was the starter. If they if the Patriots call heads instead of tails and the Coin Toss in the AFC championship game overtime, then the chiefs up two super bowls, but the Patriots called the coin. Toss right, so they only have one super bowl, but I think the reason people are hesitant to talk. Dynasty is because people think they are rare in the NFL. They're not every decade. The NFL has existed. We have had a dynasty in the sixties. It was the Green Bay packers. They won three of them in the. The seventies it was the Pittsburgh steelers. They won four and six years in the eighties. It was the San Francisco Forty niners. They won four super bowls. In the nineties. It was the Dallas cowboys in the thousands. It was the Patriots and in the two thousand tins. It was the Patriots and in the midst of that. We've had some teams. If you would call maybe many dynasties, the Broncos went back to back. The bills obviously went to four consecutive. Super Bowls Brian, Westbrook's eagles went to four consecutive conference championship games now those weren't dynasties, but if you have a great team, periods of sustained success happen in the NFL and every decade in NFL history has a dynasty. Set it up well. First thing you do is you make sure your young poor is totally intact. Check. The chiefs have done that as you can see next thing you. Do you make sure you are set at the two most important positions in the sport quarterback and coach, and the next thing you do, is you win? The Games here supposed to win. Patrick Mahomes in his career nineteen.

"Kind of touch on on that point he is made as well. Well I feel like glee engaging your vocalise this at all. He hasn't said this anywhere. But I I feel like he's playing. GonNa be playing with a chip on his shoulder this year. Because of how his college career ended. And the fact that he performed so well at the combine or tested so of the combine. And, he still fell out of the first round, and all the way back to the second round. Of the fact that he was still there in available. Will I think he's GonNa. Definitely come in with an edge in his game and be looking to. These other teams that hate you missed out on me and I'm. GonNa! Make you regret it. Hey, there's nothing wrong with coming in with a chip on your shoulder linebacker. The just throw that nothing wrong. With coming to Kansas City as a middle linebacker with a chip on your shoulder, come on with it, bring that chip with you and use it in every single game this season. You know I think the biggest thing that I really. Have noticed about William, gay junior outside of his athletic ability, his explosiveness. His. You. Know play against the Ron against the past. He's intelligent. He's a very intelligent player. He's probably the smartest linebacker coming out of the draft and again. One more time. We're GONNA bring up Brett beaches name because this each this vitro here. This is that checklist that you and I keep. Going back to over and over and over again I think we've been saying this for. Six to eight months now. He, he fit the the bill, and there is a bill on Kansas City in you know there there is a certain standard and I think at this point. any player. WHO's coming into this organization? Fits that. Standard, But? The locker rooms already there. It's not built. There's no bill process anymore. It's just filling holes as filling pieces and now the. Visas job even easier this this. The hard work. For the Kansas City chiefs is over. Now which just keeping that train moving? And that's what's exciting. Absolutely I got little off topic, but. I? Took it in the direction I like it. So. Chris I WANNA. Ask You you know. Is there anything else that you want to add to to the show tonight? We have a lot of time in between shows and. you know there really isn't anything going on to speak of we've you know we've? Come with a Lotta great content night and look I have to say this. This Chris Joan signing is huge. This is huge. This is a big deal. Kansas City a bigger than a lot of fans realize. You know like I'd mentioned earlier on the podcast and any other. Franchise Chris. Jones would walked. If you have Patrick Mahomes and then you have Chris Jones right behind him, I promise you in any other franchise. I would put my bottom dollar on it. Chris Jones would've walked in went somewhere else because there wouldn't be enough cap space to keep him within that franchise. So. Kansas City. Just realize how lucky we are at this point and you know respect. The front office because that's all comes from. So Chris Jones for years. Eighty million dollars. We're all happy campers. Patrick Mahomes. Huge contract. Record breaking. We are all happy campers about that as well now we are looking for a chiefs. Repeat seven to one odds. This could not be better scenario in Kansas. City chiefs, hell even have a winner of a contest tonight again, Bob Knoller. You're listening. You are the winner of the Artis. Chief case keenum radio contest. And Four. Chris, Chavez I'm Richard Smith. Thank you for tuning into Casey. Kingdom radio have a great night. Kansas.

"Have that for my own little collection. Is very good. Yes absolutely so all right? We're GONNA. Move onto our last topic here this evening Chris. and. This is the big one you know. This is the million dollar question here and there's a lot of skeptics out there about. Will the chiefs go back to back. We'll the chiefs go go back to back and hit the super bowl again. And to start this off. Chris I WANNA to say that in two thousand nineteen, the chiefs. Were faced with forty to one odds of winning super bowl at the at the start of the season, and as it stands right now. The chiefs have seven to one odds and are obviously the favorites. To repeat and go back to the Super Bowl and those odds stepped up. You know from the moment that Chris Jones was signed so that is you know even Vegas Even Vegas. They realize how much value Chris. Jones holds to the Kansas City chiefs and our odds dramatically stepped up, so Chris will start with you. Do. We have what it takes to repeat and if you know a secondary question. There are some weaknesses and the defensive secondary, will the chiefs. Do what it takes to fill. Those needs or the chiefs go on with. "They would be in a position. They could let Chris Go. If that was the way they needed to do it so there. Some risk involved in this contract. It does increase. The cap hit that Chris will have in twenty twenty. Twenty one I get confused with all these numbers in my head, and at this point it's going to be a substantial cap number for the team especially if the cab ends up being lower next year, so there's some risk involved with this, but we got Chris Jones which I think. Almost every chief's Fan really wanted to see happen. Yeah, and I think even stemming from some of those covert concerns that we had at the beginning. The seemed like it was always the plan for the chiefs. That's what bread beaches said regardless of the disease, but even regardless of that fact, the idea that they're bringing back all of their key pieces including now Chris Jones in a year where you don't know how much preparation you're really going to be able to have the fact that these guys know the systems and could seemingly run the same exact schemes and plays last. To me, is a tremendous tremendous advantage going into the year, and you already know that these guys were of a championship caliber level. Christiane was a huge part of that I. Mean I think the Cheeser a year to three. Maybe another drafted player away from replacing with Chris Jones can do especially from a pass. Rush standpoint, so you like the move I didn't expect it. I've said that on this podcast. All I've said. Said online and on the radio, but you know what sometimes these things go that way where you, it's hard to really read. Any tea leaves because there aren't really any tea leaves, the tea leaves are saying something in the other direction and I think this Chris Jones thing ended up being a pleasant surprise both for reporters and fans of the team Jon Right now it's time for of course Patrick mahomes section of podcast. Patrick, mahomes. He's made the G. Q.. Cover of the magazine was wearing some kind of teal jumpsuit really reminded me of like eighties style. He's got some retro to. G Q a Nice article on Patrick Mahomes. If you haven't had a chance to read it, you should I thought. This was the most telling nugget. It gave a glimpse into his daily routine, and already he's up at seven am often with no alarm. He flips on TV. USUALLY ESPN were occasionally. He'll find that he's the topic of discussion. He drinks his coffee drinks. The pre workout supplement concoction in that order and nine am a workout our for arms, an hour, and a half for legs. steny lunch after. After which some days he has a virtual meeting with teammates and coaches, or he plays video games only in this narrow noon to two PM window though he doesn't want to get lost in playing video games all day during the season. He swears them off so there you go. That's a little bit of a glimpse into this. Super Mvp biannic man that we call Patrick Moms. Nice to know that we start our day the same by drinking coffee around seven am. What about that? Concoction? The supplement concoction! About that right, I pass on the supplement concoction afterwards, but. Good for moms and I like to see these type of endorsements and sometimes in in scenarios. I've noted in the past that. Teammates can can get a little jealous, but mahomes seems to do it the right way. He only leaves it for the off season, and he sort of picks. His spots I know that that has been a point of emphasis for Andy Reid in grooming mahomes to say that looked. You're the quarterback. You're this level of talent. You gotta remember that these guys got to play for you. which is why any chance he gets, he discusses his teammates, and so on and so forth, and that allows him to do this type of thing without having the worry of maybe the backlash shirts, the fellow chiefs getting Johnson. Saying you know we're. We're super bowl champions two. But some interesting style choices I I saw he had some sandals with socks. Big Victory as it's right up my alley, ask. For Guys who love to take the garbage out like myself and sandals and socks I. I enjoyed seeing this side of mahomes in the G. Q. Magazine. I thought his disciplined. Just in that one quote year read was was fascinating. LIMITS HIMSELF TO VIDEO Games for two hours a day unless there's a team meeting and swears off video games during the season. Now I don't know too many young men who like to play video games that could conduct themselves with that kind of discipline, but then again I don't know too many young men who just signed a half billion dollar contract to play football, so maybe that's maybe that's the difference, right? He seems to have that tick and that. That bug of the.

He's GonNa show up week, one and he he's happy and the chiefs are going to be a better defense because of it right now. They just have some decisions to make later on down the road. They just kick. The can down the road, but they're gonNA. Win The super bowl this year, so it's going to feel a lot easier. That's all I. gotTa say anything else. You can't overpay a player if you end up winning the Super Bowl I said that about Sammy Watkins in the money else the roster it also works for Chris, Jones as much as I would not have made this deal if I running a football team if they win the super bowl this year, it really doesn't matter because you cannot overpay if you're winning the superbowl. Absolutely absolutely true! And we I think the road to a super bowl potentially starts on Saturday. I'm so excited. We're so close guys. Fingers crossed, but if the schedules the schedule. "On anything because you don't have the money to cover it, you're not gonna be able to afford to pay the talent to be the quality deaf pieces. You'RE GONNA need. If a guy gets hurt if somebody doesn't plan expectations that she can't go out and spend the limited money, they're going to have and have another. Anthony Hitchens now like that. That would absolutely take team if they missed. Missed that badly on a contract again, so you just your risk now is incredibly high because you brought Christians in for a longer term and you're paying a lot of money for that. You're already paying Frank Clark. Just so many other guys now the one good thing long-term about it like I like we haven't said a lot of good stuff long terms, I do have one of those. The, chiefs now have a couple years before they have to find the second pass rusher like Frank Clark Chris, Jones or both here for a few years. This defense needs at least to pass rushers too high in pass rushers to work I think Tarez talked about that last week with you, guys, they do need that. They now have at least two to three more years of having to good pass rushers on the field. At all times. You don't have to spend a first round. Pick on a defensive end defensive tackle in the next year, too, because you have these guys locked up like you do. Give yourself that kind of flexibility a little bit that you don't need necessarily someone to come. Come in and be really good across from Frank. Clark Yeah. matty spoke to that a lot like the fact that if i Jones is gone, the defensive line is frankly a little scary on the interior We loved Eric Naughty. We Love Mike Pinelli. We like Colin Sanders like these guys are good, but they're not Chris so from that regard would have had to replace that. I just wanted to throw in here. Do you guys know how many players the chiefs have under contract with an above seven million dollar cap hit in twenty twenty one so not this upcoming season, but maybe the season where the cap goes down a little bit because of covid because of a lack of revenue. There are nine while nine players. That are over that seven million dollar cap it just to put that in frame. The Twenty nineteen chief team that just won the Super Bowl and the team that you know diversified a little more and the cap might be close to what the twenty nineteen cap was. Had One, two, three or five, and two of those were dead. Money Cap Hits for Justin, Houston and Eric Bohol. See like this is this is where it gets tricky in. That is where it's like well. This is cheap. Talent is so valuable because Chris Jones's on both of those rosters correct. The only problem is Chris Jones. is now a lot more costly? In Twenty Twenty one? He's nineteen million dollars as opposed to. Two million dollars. What is what was his year for I mean? That's gets trigger. I mean that's where it gets tricky, and that's where it gets tough and. They are. They're not a very diversified roster. In the future probably one of the least diversified rosters we've seen in the history of national football. League and I'm not trying to be hyperbolic, but that's reality this is this is not happen. This is uncommon now the good thing. The salary cap if all goes well, if covert goes away for the love of God. The salary caps could blow up and things might be a little bit more manageable and the chiefs of just been early and smart and projections for their salary cap i. mean that's really what potentially could be. 'cause there's there's projections that it could be a a very significant salary cap increase. In Twenty, twenty, two in twenty, twenty, two, twenty, twenty, three. As, the Cheeser, GonNa desperately need some relief. Yeah from Patrick Mahomes his contract there, because yeah, in twenty twenty one patrick. Mahomes isn't even your highest paid player. Frank Clarke's Patrick Mahomes is like the thirteenth. I believe highest paid quarterback at that point, so it's not even you're not even shelling out for pat yet. At that point, which made it made them able to sign Chris Jones. That's part of it. I mean we talked about that early last week. But Y-. It will get tight after that. It's just part of the ramp up to getting tight. They just used up via. Christiane says contract. Had some salary cap takes one of my biggest pet peeves. As the concept of the salary cap is fake that he's not, that could not be further from the truth anytime. Somebody says that it's just because they haven't looked far enough. In the future or details to figure out where the team is making the sacrifice to make the move, work it, no point in. In time. Can you just pay anybody you want whatever you want? You have to give up something to do that. So what? The chiefs are giving up their giving up flexibility. We've been talking about it. They're giving up flexibility going forward win. The two thousand twenty two comes around. That's when you're kind of getting to the end. That's the last year that you. You are locked into Pancras Jones. That's Patrick Mahomes. Deal goes up. You can look for the chiefs roster. There's not a ton of guys around making a lot of money, but that's also when you're gonNA have to start paying you guys like Derek Nadi. You have to start re looking round at your offensive tackles. You'RE GONNA. Be Paying Tired Matthew either more money or He's gone by then. You're getting a year away from paying other good players like want thornhill so on and so forth like money gets tight at some point time when you're gonNA backload deals a little bit and you're GonNa. Get less money up front. So what happens is you can do this teams do this all the time and you can do it. You have about a two three year window. Then you have to backload more deal, so you get the guys you want to keep with a low front front hit. The problem is you can't Miss we've already talked to. You can't miss in eventually. It always catches up to. You can't just backload deals for the rest of eternity and have it work out. Is that was the case? Teams would be doing it all the time. The team. Most tourists for doing it right now I think is the Minnesota Vikings and you can see what's really caught up to now. They don't have an elite quarterback, but you causes caught up tool..

"A little seen video. Nick I. Don't know if you think you've ever seen it or your reaction to it and you think the chiefs are headed down the same path as a heat. Who went on to win seven championships? Okay, so listen it. Lebron obviously didn't anticipate Dwayne Wade's and he was going to give out on him I give you credit for pulling up the one misstep of Lebron's entire career. That's a well von knife to my back They did go to the championship Brown, though four times a one two of them and in the NFL's that would assuredly be considered a dynasty, but you mentioned the Patriots and the Patriots don't. They never signed guys this type of deal, here's kind of the underrated or under disgust part of that. Because the Patriots don't actually draft that well. They don't often draft star players or players that turn in two star players. They did it with Brady. They did it with Gronk. And there's you go up and down the list, not a bunch of other guys that turned into stars Kelsey Hill. Patrick Mahomes Chris Jones. All those guys drafted by the chiefs by this fronted not all by this front office, Somebody's front office and then extended by this front office. So there's there's more than one way to build a dynasty the Patriots, because they had so many misses in the draft, and they had the stability of Brady their their mantra of find other teams undervalued distressed assets. Bring them in cheaply worked great for them. The chiefs philosophy of how about we just hit on our draft picks and then keep those players Greg. That's actually really what your packers tried to do. And I know you're packers didn't turn into a dynasty, but you guys won the Super Bowl, and then the very next year were a dominant team fifteen in one, so I I think there are multiple ways to try to do this. And extending your best players and finding the cap room to do so is always a good option in the NFL and the whole. The whole league was hoping the chiefs couldn't come doing agreement with Chris Jones unfortunately for everyone else. Take a turn head to Dallas where.

"If you'RE GONNA win a launch. You better do it in a in bunches. The Patriots say they won six over twenty years, but they won three and four to decade off then one three and five and so greg. Jones with the best player on the defense last year. I think he's one of the most underrated nationally players and football, and to get him back on a four year. Deal is a massive coup for the vending super. Bowl championships. It is a massive cool and I. Agree with everything you said, but even more importantly. Brings that team together in ways that one cannot even imagine to have. A quarterback gets signed for a half, a billion dollars, and then to turn around and sign, who we all knew was a intercourse in machi part of that that the success of that team specifically on the defense side of the ball, and you make an effort to say no. We're GONNA. We're GONNA. Retain you and we're going to give you a large piece of this pie that sends a message to everybody in that locker room, and they understand that look these guys are for us, so we gotta do this again. And when our turn comes. Hopefully we get the opportunity that everybody else is getting in that's. As a player, forget everything else. They're gonNA bring their nucleus back. They're gonNA. They're gonNA. Keep Rolling this thing especially if they can keep finding ways to retain players like Chris Jones. Nick Carpe Diem. I think he got a fair point. Seize the day. Try to make this dynasty happen. I don't think it's the right move neither does bill belichick. Who Currently has dynasty championship belt around his waist? While he's filming that subway commercial, we'll look the first rule of having a dynasty is like Fight Club don't talk about the dynasty. The second rules don't talk about the dynasty and the third rule is. Don't lock people into long-term guaranteed contracts. That's what Bill Bell check did you guys WanNa go another route. Let's talk. Talk About Chris Jones tweets here. He's not listening to the first rule of building. Check Fight Club, which is up. Let's go. The dynasty continues. You don't even have a dynasty yet. What are we talking about? Let's say madden season. He's in the middle of then he continues run Zach nature running back. I'm happy that he got his money. I love you chiefs great. Promise, bringing more championship rings in a defensive player of the year. You know what I believe in speaking to existence, the championship rings promise I like to but nick. I dug up an old clip. Not many people have seen this clip. I was like you know what this sounds. Familiar Championship Rings Talk I. Don't know if you've ever seen it, but if we could play it hubs, we'll get knicks reaction to this. But. We also know you. "Right after this? Are We are discussing the Christians Contract Ed? Now we, we kind of maybe pivot a little bit. We've talked about the deal. We've talked about what it means. But what does it mean right now? To this football team Hashtag running back. One of the things I find interesting about this contract is it really doesn't alleviate the the CAP for twenty twenty? It really doesn't help them. In any way, shape or form is going to be about the same number that it was going to be if the chiefs kept in play Chris Jones on the franchise deal. You know we've been talking to chief bearcat a little bit, and that you know there's not there's not a lot of salary cap space left. There's six million dollars now. There's GonNa. Be Some. There's probably going to be some small moves that need to be made. Because you have to have your your emergency fund, you know teams typically I think she's emergency fund was around five or six million dollars last year. They have five or six million dollars right now. I believe, but the problem is. They haven't paid their rookie class yet. They're going to have to have. There might be a couple moves coming down the road I could see. There might be more moves. That had to be made this year. Potentially for you know to try to make things work for for this year. You know the outlook Chris Getting without a without a hold out, too. Which I think is pretty important as well. Yeah. I think for this year. It means that you're pass. Rush is fine like your pass is going to be good. Chris Jones is an excellent top tier interior defense a pass rusher. So that's going to be good going forward for a team. That's probably going to be playing with the lead most of the year way. No, probably about it. They know probably about it. Patrick MOM's. Mom's GonNa have excellent year Glide Edwards Layer tyreek Hill Sammy Watkins Travis Kelsey all Nicole Kidman Damarcus Rams and Yada Yada, Yada Yada Yada. They're going to go off. The defense is going to be playing with the lead. Chris Jones is going to get to tee off a little bit more. They're going to be able to rush the passer pretty well with Frank. Clog Chris Jones and the. The assortment of edges that they had that can also play inside. So I think from a guard, the running back side of this. I think that this is probably going to be a statistically better defense because they have Chris Jones because they can continue to rush the plaster at a really high clip here, so in that regard, it makes sense that they would keep him like we've said. said all offseason with them going forward them keeping him on the tag. It just means that he's not going to hold out now. He's GonNa show up week one. You're going to see him throughout the season. So from in that regard, it probably makes you better from start to finish because he's not going to hold out until we whatever because he doesn't WanNa play on the tag and. And I think we talked about it and I kind of decided early on in the off season, the chiefs were fully invested in quote unquote. Run it back. They look like they're really setting themselves up to repeat. So I thought Chris Johnson be on the tag wants especially once. They didn't trade him, but it made a ton of sense to keep around plan on the tag because you. You get these exact same things. You get that best level your defense could be you get another elite pass rusher to put all the field. Same time for teams can be playing with the lead like it made a ton of sense to keep him around I. Don't think signing Chris, Jones long-term means a whole lot more for this year than him playing on the tag of the new. New Guarantee. He's GonNa play now like there is no risk. The he's GonNa sit out. There is not a risk that you know. He's not gonNA. Come out there and do everything. Chris Jones go to play because he's motivated, he got paid. He's happy everything. Everybody should be feeling good about it I think all the issues that might come with. It are going to be in the future. Future, but as far as twenty twenty goes. The chiefs are going to be just as good if not better than they were last year. At least the talent level is they just have to make sure they keep working everything together. Everyone stays motivated, but they should be at this point in time. Everybody should be happy. Yeah, the key to this is the fact that he's not holding up. Like that's that's the most important piece this like outside. That doesn't really change the roster all that much, because we all expected Chris Jones to be on this roster. but now it's just guarantee that he's not holding out this year. Which is great I? Mean you're going to get them from St and he's probably going to be on the next zoom. Call if I don't know if there's any zoom calls before training camp, but. I thought you meant ours. Room calls like. Exclusive with Chris, Jones I would like to try. Also. Guys Rookies Report on Saturday or supposed to report on Saturday and we'll see about that. I. Don't WanNa say we've made it, but we've made it I think maybe hey. The NBA bubble had pretty good results from you know they only had two. I think out of three hundred. Some people test positive, obviously not perfect, but that's not bad. There's hope there's hope out there I think we need to talk about the long term outlook the roster because it's. Just because this is exciting deal to see the chiefs. Get One of the best interior pass rushers in the national football league that does it mean is not without its obstacles like just because the chiefs were able to creatively do this today just because they were able to. Come to terms with Chris Jones. Does it mean that there's not any drawbacks too? And I think there's some important long-term. Issues that you've got you've got to at least acknowledge with this in this is where all of my issues I. think kind of stem from for this. For the immediate future the right now I don't think the chiefs need. Christians to the Super Bowl. Obviously he helps. It makes better I just don't think they needed him..

"This is one of those situations where I would've loved to kind of be a fly on the wall because I'm with Gregg I. Don't know how they close such a big gap so quickly with such minimal meetings. In the only time they met in person. It seems like was Chris. Jones was in town to do an autograph session and him and his agent were. Were back at a town super-quick, so maybe they got a lot done. Maybe a lot's been done over the phone, but they didn't seem like they spent that much actual time negotiating this chiefs came a fair amount up Chris Jones came down within the cheese worked in a lot of finer points that made the deal better for them from their side. It's usually. Usually they were willing to hedge a little bit more a little bit budget, a little bit more on the actual figures, the actual cash going out as long as they keep some control in other ways for the contract. So I think that was a big part. I also think that seeing Patrick Mahomes. Only get ten million dollars into signing bonus kind kinda set the. The table that it would be Kinda hard to pay. Chris Jones more than like you're not. GonNa Pay Patrick. Mahomes attended the signing bonus. Why would you come out and pay Chris Jones even more than him right now today, so I think that could have played a huge part and Chris Jones accepting. You know no money. Right up front of that signing bonus. For sure I it's the whole. Thing I. Just the structure I wonder if part of the reason that the chiefs got to the API they did perhaps is because of how it was structured. Though I think that might, they might have been sacrificing ap y because they reports a week and a half ago. They weren't getting twenty. I wonder if part of getting to that twenty million AP. Y number was fine, but you're not taking a signing bonus. It's basically a three year deal and you know that kind of flexibility. I think they maybe wanted to maintain that flexibility in value that a little bit more than an extra million and a half API. and to be honest with you. Like I know you guys. I think that she's came out pretty okay with this because it's not. It's not a five year deal with tons of money up front guaranteed and all that stuff there's gonna be no dead cap. If they ever move on if they ever decide to trade, so if there's ever a situation here down the road where they've got to come up with a, they gotta make a decision to try to remain under the CAP. They've got some flexibility with Chris potentially so I think that's a valuable little piece to the structure, maybe not maybe not from an API perspective, but I think having that flexibility in the in the outlook in in the full picture. I think is pretty valuable. Make no mistake here. I just want to alleviate anybody who's listening to this. They cannot cut Chris Jones and get this money back. It's only via trade. He's got all kinds of dead money on the books. Be a cut I. DON'T WANNA make it sound like they can just walk away from him effortlessly. Year to year thing this is just have some more flexibility built in potentially to allow them to. Fix them problems that they have them in the ear to. Because we don't know what kind of deal we don't know what's going to look like in two years for this roster, absolutely not or what is going to look like from a salary cap standpoint in two years, so I, mean I think it. It's worth noting that from that standpoint. Yes, the chiefs have afforded themselves a little wiggle room here not to say that this is going to happen, but if they decided that, we are just going to pay the grainger deal. They could trade him after year two. And basically pay him the Grady Jarrett deal for two years and let another team take on the other the rest of it i. don't know that that's going to happen. I don't necessarily think that's going to happen. They've invested a lot in Chris Jones in this deal is just the zero signing. Bonuses is really the most interesting part of this entire contract for me and I think another thing that probably helped get to is only being a four year deal with essentially only three years of it being what's most likely to happen on this current set of contract if he plays. Plays more than three years with the chiefs. He'd likely gets a restructure at some point in time. You're not going to get that full twenty fake. In that year four, it'll be redone extended a restructured so the fact that it's only three year deal essentially for the chiefs I think that made it a lot more enticing for them rather getting locked up for five six years at this number. It's only gonNA. Be Three, maybe four I. don't think you ever see the end of this contract I. Think you've got us. Eagerness traded or restructured extended before that fourth year gets finalized. That restructure in our, but that structure, and that the the the the number of years on it. I think is a valuable asset for the cheese. Still believe it or not, they still get a really really really good football player for the next two years at a reasonable rate than they can make decisions from there and just having I think the important thing, though is just having that decision is what's so valuable to them. It's not necessarily that they're going to move on from Chris Jones, but it's that they have. It's just that they have the ability to potentially is that they have? The flexibility which which is going to become a lot more valuable here as the season as as time progresses with this with this contract, and with the salary cap, and with how this team is navigated and we're going to navigate all that.

"When I think the general numbers of the contractor what caught me most by guard? A little bit to the cheeks essentially came up to what Chris Jones asked for last year now that number for him probably rose over the season. Once you see the four spot, get signed a cap going up and everything and like creek at the details definitely worked for the chiefs incredibly well, they are able to get. Get Out of this a lot easier. They don't have any major signing bonus. Right up front, but Chris. Jones essentially got what he was seeking last year. He's getting twenty million dollars over four years essentially comes out to twenty million dollars, no matter what you kind of cut it off at, but he's getting twenty million dollars a year. He technically if both the chiefs in the colts get out of. Of the deal where the Bilton get out is for both teams makes more money than divorce bucket, so he gets the second highest paid defensive tackle contract in the NFL. If both teams opted out of at the same time, obviously buckner makes more if he keeps playing beyond the colts first big out for that, so he got what he wanted, and that's why I think so surprised that the chiefs. Chiefs came up to that number. They decided to pay him what he asked for. Now I'm sure Chris Jones came down from what he was coming to the table with his wealth, because it doesn't sound like the chiefs got railroaded as Craig was talking about. It's just that goes into my disbelief. Chris Jones said. This is what I wanted. He essentially got that from the chiefs in this whole situation. For like a week or two removed from reports of the cheese hadn't approached twenty million dollars a year. Now for them to get there. It was an incredibly unique contract, and I think winterized kind of to that Chris Jones had you know had to will be willing to be creative. That's exactly what he was about because zero signing bonus. Gives the chiefs an insane amount of flexibility first off the cheese have it's? It's essentially three year contract. That's that needs to be known to. It's this is basically a three year contract. So. It's not a five year deal. It's not easy to get out after three years like our. It's not a it's way easier to get out after three than it is for anybody else. Frank Clark now Frank Clark. You can still get out after three years, but there's GONNA be some dead. There's no dead on this contract, and like Craig said the ability to trade basically anytime. Craig Craig me wrong. They could trade him tomorrow and not and not take any dead going to do that they. Just got done tweeting how he was like that's happening, right? But I I think the contract the structure so unique I mean it really does give them a ton of flexibility, and they're going to need it. They really cheese are going to absolutely need. Flexibility and we'll get to that here in a little bit. But I think in a lot of ways. It worked out well for both sides I. Really do think know. Both both teams got a little bit of what they wanted Chris got the respect of being a twenty million dollar, a Py player, maybe not the twenty one and a half or twenty, two or whatever he wanted. But I think it looks pretty good for him. And you know he's GonNa get paid the next three years pretty salt. It's about the one thing I found. Interesting is I. DO think it's about similar to if the cheese tagged of three times in a row. You know it's. It's similar in in in in money to the WE'RE GONNA tag him three times in a row. They find that kind of interesting. How did this get done? Craig. I honestly I. Think you kind of hit on it. Already Christians came down a little bit I even to raise had said that he witnessed. Frank Clark getting paid in front of him and said I. Want that money I want exactly what Frank Clark wants or more, and he didn't get that I. I know with incentives that he can make twenty one million dollars, but with incentives Frank Clark and make twenty one point one million dollars, so I mean they still have it structured in a way that Frank Clark is their quote unquote most important defensive player that they have on their roster so once I think that was kinda settled. They just had to find that. That right balance there now the zero signing bonus thing I think probably resulted as our buddy. Cheap bearcat has been tweeting about and talking to us about today probably resulted in some more guaranteed money that was in this contract, but it does offer them that flexibility it does offer them the ability to get out via trade or restructure in a way that made sense down the line depending on if the cap changes, there are lots of ways that this can go I feel like the chiefs did give up a little more like I feel like. They were the ones that had to come way up there the. Grady Jarrett deal that they offered. Is Basically you know? Chris Jones's first two years of this are eighteen and a half million dollars. That's about what the great he Jarrett deal was that third year pushes it way up there way above that, so I feel like the chiefs really had to give up a lot more to get to where Chris Jones wanted, and Chris had necessarily come down in this situation, so that's where the signing bonus and everything like that comes about..

"Chris Joe's. What else do you want to know? Patrick mahomes needs signed. The chiefs needed. Keep cow around Patrick Mahomes. We signed a player like Curious Jones twenty million dollars a year. Bottom line is you will not have as much talent. Around Patrick so. I'm just GONNA. Keep it simple. Keep it short. Today is just me. Chris's now on air today obviously. But Kansas City look. Don't get emotionally attached to any player. Except Patch, mahomes and Frank Clark. And look the. Will be around the Organization for a long time, we think Christians would be here for a while. Yes, but look. It's not going to happen. He wants too much money. He deserves too much money in the chiefs. Just can't afford it so kind of get used to that Kansas City. We'll see what happens here, but just remember. We have a general manager and Brett Beach. Who knows exactly what he's doing and has mason calculated moves? To keep high. Intel, around. I think. All of you know that this will probably be addressed in the draft or trade or the potential of A. Low risk high reward type of player. That has been proven to work out for the chiefs last season. There's a handful of those players of the Kansas City signed, and it has proved then a proven recipe for success so. Just remember. Depth Chart. And the rotation. Is always rotating Kansas City and it's always rotating. Never GonNA stop, can't that's impossible? Players will come and players will go. But remember. There's there's. Enough talent around. Kansas City for this really not to affect the chiefs. Will. So. I really look forward to a thousand and twenty season I. Hope it goes down as Levine like they're. Okay. They've already cancelled two preseason games so the first preseason game in the last preseason game. But the thing is. I I hope that they play season without fans. Yeah, and in fact. I was astonished that they didn't ask me about Matt House. I'm not sure that that's right, but we'll see I do have to say about that, so I've been out of the mix for a little bit, but we're back with today's show. Just WanNa run through what we're going to be doing. Today shows will probably be a little bit shorter over the next month and a half. As news is slow, we get ready for training camp. There'll be a little bit of a news orchestration on our part. We're happy to admit that we probably won't have some shows during weeks in July. As we rest and recuperate and get ready for training camp, then we'll be in full swing wants to chiefs finally. Finally, do reconvene in person for training camp on today's show. We'll discuss a Chris Jones trade. Potentially I leave for four days and the entire Kansas, city community is one in a ship Chris off so good for everybody on that. We'll talk about that Kareem Hunt spoke about the chiefs yesterday you remember him when the rushing title as a rookie with the chiefs and twenty seventeen and our final segment. We'll have a game for the first time introducing a game, not like the Games that Matt Lane brings to the table. Sometimes I think this one will be constructive. It's called first in last out. We'll go through. The chiefs offense really early. Early sort of look at the fifty three man roster as we get ready for training camp, but let's get this show on the road. As I mentioned, I was out toward the end of last week,.

"Maintain that there had been consistent contact with Jones representation, and that was thwarted by report couple of weeks back of Ian, rapoport basically saying sounded like Chris Jones aside that there's been no contact. Since the chiefs issued the franchise TAC yeah. It's hard to know what to think about this. On the one hand. The chiefs like Jones, they wanting to play here. They're willing to put the franchise tag on them, which means they're willing to pay him a big salary to play here for one more year. Those are all the things that we know have happened. The rest of it is kind of unknown, and what the future holds is a big question mark right. Now I've previously speculated here on this show that it may be that the chiefs are just not wanting to sign. any long-term deals because of the uncertainty about where their salary cap will go in twenty twenty, one because of the possibility of league. Lose a lot of revenue this year. And that might be the case at this point though I. don't even know how to predict what's going to happen. I think. The chiefs for in okay shape when it came to Chris Jones, because yeah, maybe they were seeking something similar to Aaron Donald Money which is twenty two point five per year. But. The chiefs could always go back and say look Chris Great Player. You're not Aaron Donald I mean you look at the past four years? Aaron Donald has fifty two sacks, thirteen forced fumbles Jones of course thirty three sacks, seven forced fumbles. There's a lot more stats where you can look at it and try to evaluate these guys some more in depth, but no matter how you look at it. Donald is an elite player. Jones is probably a tier under him, so the chiefs could always say you know we have to pay less. The chiefs got a little. I'd say screwed. Maybe that's not exactly the right way. But by their old friend, Chris Ballard, who used to be in the player personnel department for the chiefs when he goes and trades a first round pick for deforest buckner. And then referring to spot right here, you look at the contract terms that they gave him twenty one million dollars per year. And you look at the stats. You could make the case. The Chris. Jones is a comparible. If not better player than deforest buckner over the past four years thirty three sacks for Jones,.

"chris jones" Discussed on Pardon My Take

"Okay let's get some segments First up we they have way to stay relevant baseball. You basically created a trade hijacked everyone. Everyone's attention with Mukhi bets trade to the dodgers and then spent the last week saying it's not official until now it's official. It's actually great what they've done so they they took what five days of media coverage coverage on this. Yes they dropped it. They broke hanks brothers heart and hangs brothers dogs heart and then there was maybe maybe some hope and then boom it close. It's kind of been like like A. Is it aero aero that never arrives at its destination. That's what this trade felt. Like if I if I if I follow this correctly though it's actually not the fault of any of the teams right like the reporters reported it too early in the team's never even told the players like hey this is what's going on so if anything. This is a poll on his journalism. Why don't you wait until we're ready for the trade to actually happen before we start announcing because think about it like David price probably had to look at private schools in La for his kids? I don't even know if he has kids. it's not enough to and that was that was stressful. Stressful is hell and these people that are you know have hundreds of millions of dollars and might have to move to la which would be awesome They they probably went through stress lifestyle. It was tough for them for sure. Yeah but it's also been a great weekend for the people in Ken. Rosenthal mentions and John Hayman's mentions these are my new favorite reply guys. The ones that Jeff reply with announce so and so yes like announce whatever trade that they want to see happen. Yes like John. Hayman is waiting like behind the curtain. Getting Ready for it's just open so he can finally let people know that your favorite players come into your favorite team right now. It would be great if they actually held back and waited for just one random person to seam heads sixty fifty nine tweets. Jeff Passan like the seven hundred time on a Saturday announce a trade and finally he's like you know what I'm gonNA give it to him announce the straight to have you here. He goes seem Eddie. Sixty nine you asked for it you got it. Delivered bats is going to be a dodger again. So Hank now that you've had five days or however. Many days is Ben to let this process any any change in heart. I was very hopeful that like when I saw that there was reports that the physical was failed. He might be coming back. I I was thinking that they were GonNa like the trae was gonNA fail in the Red Sox are GonNa have had buyers or sellers remorse and then actually give him the contract that he wanted. Yeah I had that in my head for a few days and now she's she's like back to square one. It also didn't help our friend. Jared Corrobos who has a great podcast starting nine also a Red Sox podcast section and ten. I knew that I was in Phoenix. Suns podcast I was thinking section eight and section eight housing so section ten. I got it so section ten But he kept on doing the like would be a real shame and jared's one of those guys who's in the know but he doesn't break news so he just let them know that he knows but doesn't tell you that he knows he lets you know. Is that something. Something is happening that you should want to know that. He knows that he will not share. And it was the product. It was a perfect story that I didn't really care about this. But I saw peripherally like I would see jared word every few hours be like wouldn't be official and I'm like but I'm not actually following it closely. 'cause I don't care so then I'm just in my head and my weight is this trade just never happening. Here's something that we can all get excited about. Though is one of the players that they wanted the youngsters involved in this trade is named Jeeter jabots. Red Sox got a player and there's a guy named Awesome Matt. Right Alex Vertigo. Yeah we disavow Vertigo Savannah librium red sock. Now why are we doing. We're I think he's got another thing that I have not been following. I've been very peripheral on this It's college basketball season and XFL started so was on the last of my worries. But I think there was. There's something with a snapchat video. Maybe revenge porn wrong place wrong time but it might he might like we're going to go ahead this okay. I'M GONNA get a blanket disavows as a big Red Sox fan and a big New England sports do your pod Guy. I'm all about Geeder. Let's go jeeter. That's my guy. Yeah so we've disavowed. We're clean on that one but yeah the whole thing. I mean only baseball. Only baseball would have a blockbuster trade that didn't happen for five days and like what the Hell is going on. Oh Yeah I forgot the Allie actually even think I won't really notice it until mookie Betts puts on dodgers uniform but Oh oh yeah that did happen right. It felt like that old the Pelicans trade trade out to the Lakers. When it was going to be Chris Paul and like some blockbuster David Stern when David Kabosh on health? Yeah it felt like. That's how ALGA saw right. He had already put his finger on the scale that way I don't think at Baseball's commissioners are competent enough to actually be able to accurately manage a trade that would be a disadvantage for the premiere. Franchises find out a way to screw that up if they tried to meddle with it. Absolutely absolutely okay. So that that's that trade. Hopefully that's it's the end of that although I'm sure it's not I'm sure we'll get more news next up. We have shoe Roast Russell. Wilson's photo shoot. Yeah let's let's roast them a little bit now. Russell Wilson. Listen I I love him as a player. He is a goober but he's a good. He's a dad wasn't Goo Russell. Wilson is a Dorky Dad. Dad Dad or he was of course yes yes. He was born a dad he came out. He came out of his MOM's vagina wearing new balances and like acid. Wash jeans with cuffs on him. Yeah he's in this every two months or three months. He'll he'll have a picture that comes out where he's just trying to blow up for the afternoon. I think sometimes sierras like hey by the way. Surname Sierra Navada Sierra mist I Sierra will be like hey why. Don't you put on a pair of pants that doesn't have an elastic waistband. Let's do a photo shoot and this was an all time photo. Shoot Yeah He. I'm looking at right now. It has some it has some A.. Rod Kissing the mirror vibes. Go on Yeah I I any any photo shoot really is Kinda Awkward. It just like you know what I mean. Shoot no matter what it's a little young guys have curly hair that straighten it out like when. PF has done a couple of times. It's just super it. Okay definitely be. Yeah you will right now. That's a good point hank like my hair is very similar to Russell Wilson's and when you stray. He looked like he was stay. Woke isn't coming to America to coming out. This might be a viral advertisement for soul. Glow he no he would he almost like he could be he could be in like boy meets world. It had a sean. Sean was gay guys last name. Sean whatever. SLEATER NO SEAN SEAN. Sean Matthews Matthews Sean. faulk just have a little boy meets world vibe. It's got a little hunter Shawn Hunter. I didn't look it up. He looks like a like a baby. Caterpillar those fuzzy baby caterpillars dipped and vastly. How many baby caterpillars are you coming across? You've seen those fuzzy caterpillars right the ones that have like all the fluff on them. I know what you're talking about. I just don't I know the last time I encountered one. Well I live in New York so I'm trying to think of any wildlife whatsoever that would be like a day at the zoo. Yeah seriously is like actually when you break it down. That's way more off putting than Russell Wilson's haircut the fact that I was just when you just mentioned baby caterpillar. Obviously I know what you're talking about and I've seen him and you must pay caterpillar. Just miss seeing anything besides rats and pigeons and occasionally like pock roaches. WHOA yeah it's a big day cockroach mccrone put on your khaki pants and vest Kroenke? Look at this. What what's the coolest animal you see in New York City probably diseased fish? Probably UH disease. Fish plucked out of the water by a bird and then dropped or like people to luxury dogs like super rich people and have those crazy. I was yeah. I was French dog through a French bulldog with like a Fendi vest on. I would say looks like it. Looks like a broom. Yeah A mop. I was walking along the East River on Saturday. And there's little kid was walking with his mom and he was like do you think like it's low tide. Do you think we're going to get to see. And I couldn't fully hear what he said and I was like. Oh my God. Is there like some kind of animal and missing on the East River and I turned around rounded. He asked again. He's like do you think we're GonNa get to see the tires and I was like Jesus Christ. That's really what we're like this New York City. Todd Hey let's go down mom East River. We're going to see the retires low tide. That's New York. The I don't know how we got here but it needs to be discussing wildlife. I I think that we should do a show about New York while I I mean we did. When we went to the Larry's picks with the rat rat? We need to figure out what part of town has the biggest rats because I'm sure that there are different types of in different neighborhoods because their colonies right. Assuming they're all inbred in certain colonies they probably get bigger The more outside of the downtown area I would say closer to do the Electric Plants. Yes they probably get bigger ones where their eyes glow right huge so anyways Russell Wilson looked like he was in a prince. It's music video for monster. Mash Russell. Wilson looked like an animal. We haven't seen in four years because we live in this hell hole of New York City. Yes last stuff. We've asked heating season for Phil Fulmer. Mer He's about to eat eat all his opponents asses because Tennessee's back now. Why did he say Tennessee was back here to get a recruit? Here's the quote the vulgar back back and before long. We'll be taking a bite out of everybody we plays ass so there's like ninety eight. It's a very. It's a very southern way to say I'm GonNa look someone's what's butthole like putting so many different words in between the subject and the Noun of a sentence yes we're the team who loses to division. WORE ASK FLIRT ONE AA squads and probably will lose to vanderbilt again next year and our asses clean. It's I don't I also just. I need to know. Tennessee is is one of those programs that every like three or four years. They'll just declare their back and it's like no you're not even close to back like it's it's even less back than Texas axis is back Texas. We joke about every now and then Texas will put together a team. We're in September. You could at least give yourself the idea that they might be back right. Tennessee's he's like no. It's not a joke as BRASSICA can be like kind of back at some points with Tennessee. It's kind of cute though we're back ninety. Eight hundred ninety. That's really sweet no like yeah. You're right Tennessee will never back. But we're not like threatened by Tennessee. Saying no I love burnt orange. There's one guy in my twitter mentions all time WHO's You got an AC- the Indian Clemson Fan. Be careful when how funny when you get to the Pantheon life..

"Down I've got a list of got a a bunch of free agents top free agents actually Brian did some research for me he's working with us again tonight along with Chris and printed out some of the top free agent thought that was interesting that there are some names that are not on here that I got I think could end up being top free agents for instance the kids three cheese need to take care of Chris Jones or he will be someone else's top free agent acquisition also dak Prescott not yet a free agent but could be even though likely the cowboys aren't going to allow it to get to that point sounds like they may franchise tag if they don't get any closer and then two major dominoes that could you stay upright or could drop and if they do drop we're talking about a major shift in the NFL regardless of where are these two guys end up what would you say your breeze retires and and goes home well home is New Orleans now but we he just retired he walks away that EE affects the quarterback market but also this thing would be out to find a quarterback for a ready made contender and I know they've they've under G. the last couple of years but it doesn't mean they're any less ready either any Les Paul used could you imagine if you're breeze walked away and the same kind of find other quarterback no teddy Bridgewater did well but he's let's be honest he's not the quarterback that the system is built around it his skills that wall I think it will earn him a job a new job and it should and they they invested in him as their backup QB it turned out to be a great investment the system's not built for him not built for a guy with his skills that now there are a lot of your breezes hanging out but it's really build more rounded drew Brees style so breeze retires that job is open what I really hadn't given that much serious consideration like I also haven't given much serious consideration to Tom Brady leaving New England and I know it's fine for headlines and and radio host chatter but I honestly won't believe it until I see it and even then I might not believe it to be a little bit like Brett Farr were in purple it it would be jarring to the system I don't think Brady actually wants to leave and I really know that Bob Kraft is mortified by the idea of Brady playing another uniform but also if you consider the options in the end of his career because it is the end of his career maybe it's another year maybe two oh two years whatever it is it's it's the end does he want to go play out the string somewhere with the team that doesn't have a roster that can contend heck no he might as well just a wood New England and so Bob Kraft is likely to put his money where his mouth is he doesn't want to see Brady play anywhere else and I don't begrudge Brady the opportunity to try his hand at free agency why not it's it's his last shot at it more than likely he's Arnett everything he's done for the patriots everything is done for the NFL he's earned it so let him do it he doesn't need the money and while there's some respected quite with money I don't believe that'll be the final factor all things being equal it sounds like he'd rather stay in New England however sometimes things are not equal how gosh lot of your buzzing about that we'll see how quickly that gets

"The house oversight committee is asking census bureau official to turn over documents wanted for an investigation into the motive for ending a citizenship question to the twenty. Twenty senses NPR's hunting, long reports that the official was involved in the administration's push for the move newly uncovered emails for lawsuits over the citizenship question show that a high ranking census bureau official Chris Jones, contacted GOP redistricting strategists about the question using a private Email address as early as twenty fifteen that strategist Thomas hoffler later concluded, in an unpublished study that adding that question to the census could politically benefit Republicans and non Hispanic white people. Now, the house oversight and reform committee says it wants to interview Jones next month as part of its investigation into exactly why the Trump administration pushed to add to the twenty twenty cents. The question is this person a citizen of United States? Trump administration says it. The question to better enforce the Voting

I mean, they almost got there with Damian Williams, and I would dance a beautiful dance on the fantasy grave of Damian Williams. If left bell were to go to Kansas City now lev bell at his current asking price would only cost the chiefs about two two and a half times more per yard than any other running back in football. They also investment they also need to find an extension for tyreek hill. They've got gotta find an extension for Chris Jones. This is a near impossibility. But what if I mean the question was what are you most want to see happen? I wanna see what Patrick Mahomes does with Sammy Watkins Levy on bell. Tyreek hill and Travis Kelsey. I think you saw it was what he did with cream. Yeah. You're right. You're right Damien Williams. But that is that's full man from the Mancha that isn't impossible. Now, the reason why the even comes up is on the basis of. Whenever of any team has a quarterback on a rookie contract. They have the opportunity to exploit the the capital positions. But they do have talented players need extensions is not likely to happen left. Bell to can't hear Helms already going into your three. Let's take a step back and just say how about love bell to a good team. That's what I'd most like to see happen and free agency have belly. Luckily that bell to Indianapolis. No bell to Kansas City. Love bell to somebody that is above five hundred. I think the only I think the only good team if you're talking last year, the only good team would be Houston. What about two more? I don't think they'll all they won't go pay. Yeah. All but they would not be the biggest knife twist in vision the teams with the cap money that wanna make the run and need the big name or probably teams like the jets and the raiders which leave. Yeah, volume. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Thanks, guys. Appreciate
