"The right way all right back to chris jones back to the chiefs so far jones has been the star of camp. And that's saying something because again allies have been good. we're going to get the linebackers and a second who might be the biggest surprise as a camp but jones has been great and this is a guy who of course has been great. Part of this point obviously earned a four year. Eighty five million dollar deal a year ago. He's a two time pro bowler all right somebody. Who through five seasons has forty and a half sacks including fifteen and a half back in two thousand. Eighteen last year had seven and a half. He's been a phenomenal player. Other than aaron. Donald there has not been a better defensive tackle in the nfl since he's come into the league. Okay that said he's now obviously. Everybody knows transitioning a little bit. He's going to place in the end. He slimmed-down little. I gotta tell you if you're watching any of these drills. He's not losing any power. He is destroying people. I mentioned before for the break in tuni. -tuni- is an all pro guard. The highest paid interior linemen in. Nfl history. he destroyed joni on a couple of one on one know again. The defense has the advantage air but tunisia kind of player who neutralizes at advantages jones. Destroy them. It has been fascinating to watch him. He's so quick so fast bull the laterally up the field..

"Day of full team practice here on the campus of missouri western state university on thursday and after practice was over. We had an opportunity to hear from defensive. Lineman chris jones remember. he's playing both tackle. And the edge positions running back clyde edwards allaire wide receiver byron pringle and finally cornerback legit serious needs. So we'll go in that order on this podcast. We'll take a quick break in the middle. Let's start with defensive. Tackle chris jones to s- might wanted to beth rogers in the league and you best three tech in the league if you were there. What are your favorite death. Well i don't. I don't really pay attention on stuff. I feel like those guys Never really accurate. I you know what i mean. So i appreciate the compliments. My favorite gap is any many any gap. I can get to the quarterback in I'm excited about it. Those guys miss the most when they try to rank your position honestly. I don't know. I don't know you know they understand. There's a lot going into russian passive and placement eye coordination skill. a little luck and a little play calling. You know what i mean so all it comes together all works together for you then you will reach the benefit on it. You know sometimes it. Don't worry sometimes it does. But you know you pray about it you wrote in and utilize your skill set on sunday. Say your left and ended up with and especially probably got a sack would have gotten planted. Wanna talk about it. And how did that feel to it. Around the engineering closed. Bliss i feel good rushing all day. It's okay i know is. You're seeing some a little ole veteran in a room but i feel so they're rushing off the edge and you know You know having acquisition of jay read alone. This line of scrimmage has free me tremendously and i'm just so appreciative. Of his dominance. And the inside him in front clark They're like tit for tat and they work well off each other and turk shown warren he's able to get around the gac and move and they're ninety has been phenomenal so foreign counsel my biggest thing is continue to get one percent better. Do i discount when we do that. By the time the season reach we just keep on elevating baby keep elevating and we're going to be what we want to be by the end of the year. The is on the field. What about did this last after birthdays review which is more so adding to my Feel session instead of watching mainly three takes. I'm kinda miss. Imagine watching a few three tastes few the ends Cam jordan you know. Gas is Set they set the stage for divas. Event is this league mouse. Garrett julie bosa you know those type of guys who have made a name for this it at the position of deficit in well i I d- yoga three times a week. In pilates you know. I don't know if anything it was fun. Man i was one moment. I thought it was going to have my head above my on my neck so you know what i mean. So it's been fun different. My i can do some positions now. I never thought i could do but this. Yeah i usually do pilates during all season. But i started early this year for my flexibility. You know ben in just a little different from taking turn on a three so i wanted to be a little more flexible. A little more lenient on been an edge and i was able to work flexibility a lot of weight wiser weiner inviter looking play compared to inside. I'm like fifteen twenty pounds lighter i I came up here on the first day. Quick story. I came up here on the first day. I grabbed a popeye's chicken sandwich. Three two strokes are biscuit. Fry and twelve count nugget still to ninety two and i was telling him he was like you imperfect way i was like no. I'm not. I just like three sandwiches from popeye's and she can scripts and so i felt like my weight is i'm good. I'm still trying to move up to ninety five range. I mean the practice right. Now you're gonna feel game. Or what is it that transition well just more so focus on filling the best way though where i can play out and out because you know merely i'm not a real de and you know spans gonna move me around most likely i'm going to be planned. Both spots depend on game plan. And who are we plan. And what's the best match up. So i just try to stay. Put myself at a weight where i can't play three. Take the whole game. Played the in hogan. If you've never been a shy about tackle tackle now player. Maybe we trying to break the record. Baby we're trying to break the record. No the blessed about the record We're trying to have the best in the league first and foremost on trying to be dumb throughout this whole season and we're trying to challenge each other to get better day in and day out. If we do that. This demand will be where we wanna be. You know this'll be go. Pats wanted to get out of it. No one that we're taking our time with it. You know we're gonna let it come in. Come no need to rush it. But it's gonna be exciting. It's gonna be a guys are building up to it Strongly high hopefully. Don't be this hot when we put the pads on. But i think we definitely gonna get after. I see a lot of physicality going on right now. People are excited. Forget we can't really do too much with The shells home. But i think we will definitely get out there and on challenge each other. Along the line of scrimmage with that in the off season in disaster all or did read them. You're ruining we've been. I think german recanted came in here and Gave the coaches to flexibility to move me around. You know by him being who he is in heaven and such big presence. Alone the line of scrimmage his position three which we play the same position then it kinda free me up to go and move to the outside and let him dominate. The line of scrimmage from the inside how different or You know just just starting off with this year vet minicamp. I mean everything was everything was going. You know going great. But we didn't really run a ball. They minicam us because you know but Asteroids anything everything in from from just help in a protection and being in online room and everything is everything is cordial of and.

"Of fifty five ish players. What is the what used to be a fifty three man roster but they have to fifty five on game days or something and then you could add an extra offense of linemate whatever it is you know i mean that's like thousands of player the chiefs have four of the top twenty. I'm gonna stop my complaining there right so i'm good. I'm good you know like you know. Maybe some people want to get in the weeds. Like ron parker should be two hundred and thirty four versus. Am by the way hat. Tip to ron parker who just found out. He's getting inducted into the new berry. College athletics fame. That's really all. I have to say about it. But hey ron parker shoutout. That's yeah congratulations. You big shout outs to you. I i was honestly i was okay. That tyron wasn't top fifty. I feel like it went to like seventy five. We'd see tyrod matthew. That seems about where i would put them. Honestly jamal adams. I didn't see in the top fifty list i. I would probably still have jamal adams above taryn matthew. I don't think necessarily on this team. But i think if you're taking it from a look at it from a thirty thousand foot view and you're looking down like player to player. I think most people would go jamal. Adams probably not. Probably i don't i don't have a huge issue. I thought this list was pretty. Well thought out. And yeah again like you said four chiefs in the top twenty. I'm not saying bleep. I can't beat that a But we do have plenty more to say in. Just a few minutes will be back after the break with scott loring with to talk a little bit more about his training camp preview and matchups. "I really do like them all so mexican food. In general that i get out here. I love seafood of all varieties. I really like and it's fresher out here than any other place. I've lived save when i was living in massachusetts like we could get some pretty good stuff out there but the variety of fisher to get out here. I definitely like it a lot more. I become a huge scallop fan. Didn't grow up really eaten but have become that. I've also come to appreciate certain vegetables. Like brussels sprouts now the way that i like them. They're probably not any good for you. But i did not like you name of you throw it on there like it but i never like brussel sprouts until i got out here. Never really had avocado before. I got out here. I know that the avocado that i used to get out east. The few times that i tried it tended to be pretty brown by the time we got it. That's what it looked like. It's probably one of the reasons. It never rose up chain for me but coming out here. This is so fresh. Oh yeah it's another love like it really did introduce me to something different. And what's your favorite place in. La to be part of town or a thing. Read orly's failure lace in la. I'm going to give you an honest answer that 'cause i'm trying to come up with something more exotic than what. I'm going to say but anybody who really knows me knows that i'm being completely honest. My favorite place in l. a. Is jim where my daughter was playing volleyball. It's it's my favorite place to be right now it's my wife says i'm obsessed and i probably have given coach basketball coach for years and years and years. I needed to turn at energy somewhere and yeah. She's into volleyball in the same way. I was always really into basketball. I think he connect there too and it gives me a chance to kind of give back to her in ways. I think my dad would give back to me from basketball perspective. Even though it's volleyball and i don't know it as well as basketball obviously just from a sport culture perspective. I can give her a lot. That i think hopefully is helping her out so just watching her incorporate that stuff into her game and to her approach to what she does on the court and watching her play in watching her teams kind of jail and come together. That's a real treat for me so anytime going to chance to do that. I'm just in seventh heaven last question. You are the father of two daughters you have. I believe a fifteen and a twenty year old. Nine hundred sixty two or sixty three was the last time they've been able to go and so they lifted the ban for three years for team sports and that was my senior year and it was. It was the best experience ever. We actually got to go to the tournament at one point that year even number one in the country and d three Want our first game which was a home game is the last home game of my career had a free legendary move to lives on people's. Don't talk about which was cool. We fell to umass dartmouth plays its game never forget. I'll never forget the last couple of plays of that game. Issa stuff that you you always remember that that group of us. There were six seniors that year. We've remained pretty tight over the years not that we communicate all the time. "'cause they're going to have to from your perspective and given that some of it has been lengthened the process but it's they say it's been mostly positive from the perspective of taking in more talented more interesting class. Is there an aspect of this that you think will stay. We'll next year's college. Admission process also be test optional. What's your hunch on that. Yeah i i have a good feeling that it will be for most of the schools that are currently test optional Some of that will depend on how much the country opens back up because when you think about a junior year is the prime year for a lot of kids for testing. So they've done a lot of their prep. Especially when i think about most harvard. Westlake kids that summer between sophomore junior year they do a lot of their prob so that junior year it kind of comes your testing and hopefully you can be done by the time you get to senior year. Don't have to worry about it if you have to take a year. Maybe you've got to take one more time without the benefit of being able to take these junior. Potentially it's thrown that part of the time linebacker. They're already some colleges who've come out and said regardless of what happens in the country next year we know that a lot of opportunities have being missed where already called in san. We're going to be option for next year. Yeah if the country opens up and kids are able to to test. I could see a number of schools peeling back on the test. Optional piece but i do know the philosophically there are a number of schools that are saying right now. We do like this allowed us to do. I think we can figure out processes to allow us to do this in a timely fashion. We want to stick with it. Got interesting so before we get to you. You wanted to talk about the. Us news and world report. That's impacted the work you do..

"I'm so there are kids who've been able to get a score or a couple of scores and kind of see what they are. And then they're making decisions so we've had lots of conversation with kids who've had at least one set of scores and had to make a determination of whether they send those so now from the institutional perspective. You've worked in college admission. And what is it like right now from. You can understand for college admission officer to see not only this increase applications. So there's more but there's actually less in some sense information to go on it least from a testing standpoint where the sat is a standardized test in the whole idea even though it's flawed in many ways which we can talk about to. It is a standardized assessment across all schools public private urban rural that college. Admission officers can use so. How does the absence of that in so many situations change how someone at college assess that's That's that's one of the magic questions. I think interestingly. I can say this i can say that. I understand what missions officers are coming from having been on that side because i worked in college admissions for seven years three different institutions at each of those. You didn't want to scores to be as big a factor as a wound up becoming so when i first broken college admissions. It was always in. It's still is at the grades in the courses that you take our ape plus number one category and then you had sort of a secondary category. It was test scores of extracurriculars recommendations. All the stuff that comes along with it. I got out of college admissions my last year. I think two thousand and two. By the time i'd left. Dude start to see where raise of course you take were number one test scores. Sort of vaulted Gory and if anything they created their own second category and all that other stuff was third..

"Harvard like seniors on average somewhere between eight and twelve applications as the norm this year. It's fell a bit heavier than that. And i would probably guess we're in the ten to fifteen range student again. That's not a huge increase when you multiply that out among all high schools across the country the world you can imagine what's happening with all these colleges now without without the benefit of the new. Yeah really admission right. As is the most highly selected colleges had huge increases in absolutely absolutely. So when you think about so. Let's actually jump into that. So that gets into the test. Optional piece from everywhere. It doesn't matter what they're testing was lie either. They couldn't test or they were able to test in weren't particularly pleased with their testing if they're coming from a school and they've got great grades and they're taken great courses. They're doing really well. But maybe in the past whatever their test scores were things that would make them as competitive at a particular institution. That kid can apply to that school. Now they've got just as equal shot as everybody else. i think. That's one of the things as we were talking earlier about. Kids not being able to go out and visit colleges and not being able to discern so that nuance between different schools. Instead of saying okay. i'm interested in. Let's go back to the example a medium size college in around the city instead of saying well. These are twenty five schools that fit that. I'm going to apply to all twenty five kit. Used to say wow out of that. Twenty five these five or six really feel like me and so they can tailor list now without that benefit there just the planet across the board to all the schools that fit a particular category for them and then that ratchets up the anxiety and what have also seemed to was at the schools that are really seeing the influx of apps are the ones on the coasts versus the ones that are steady. Maybe a little bit upper even in decline tend to be in the mid west and someone in the south and so our our finance. Yeah what's explaining that the belief is that you're talking about applications that are coming from more densely populated areas those more densely populated areas. Politically might lead sir way and believe that the midwest. The south isn't the place for me you know we haven't heard that from a number of kids but there have been enough years said things like. Oh i'm coming from california. I know that i want to go. East fly over the midwest. To get him he's coast if they stop in the midwest so stop in chicago if they're gonna stop in chicago. Then maybe they'll go to saint louis if we'll go to columbus do some different things around there to make a more robust trip and out stopping in chicago right now. Kids are still applying to the places in chicago but those places around they would naturally been able to see on a bigger trip. They're not seeing those places and they're they're having beliefs about what it must be there politically and they're just not even apply it again. That's an area that's out there and when they're not able to see it in person answering see kids that might look like them or know that even at a conservative university there might be a young democrats club or at a very liberal uc berkeley. There might be a young republicans club or whatever not to go there and see it. The stereotypes might yeah override. Anything else does..

"Breaks up the monotony. So i think that part has been good. I i've been doing a lot of meditating. Lots of meditate so both the classic variety. Meaning you know seated on a meditation cushion and or you know planet tibetan singing bowl and and then there are the more life integrated types of meditating like cooking for example for me as a very meditative exercise. I i love to cook. Yeah i definitely enjoy doing that. Picking up picking up some new things to try to right now because it's a little bit chillier outside I've been trying to get into making some good homemade soups. So it must the ones that i'm making must be pretty good 'cause bowls yanni than keep asking me to make every week so that must be pretty good. The cocaine for me is really meditative exercise and then just reading more young. I've had a lot more time to do that. So some really good books. Over last year. That i've read so getting this sort of what this means for the work you do at harvard westlake Obviously the pandemic has changed everything about our lives pretty much but it's really changed college admission and you are the head of the upper school. Deans at harvard. Westlake and So i i love to talk a little bit about what this has meant. I from the student perspective. What does it mean for a student going through this process and thinking about the schools to which they're going to apply and then later we'll get to kind of what it means for a commissioned officer kind of sitting there at some school kind of looking at applications but let's start first with with students. How has it changed for the students in your care. Yeah that's that's such a good question. I think from the students i i. It's hard to imagine what it's like being in their shoes right like there's so many things that are going on that are causing their own stresses and on top of that. They're trying to manage this college joining college. Application college research process in ways that they've never seen anybody do for several several decades it links virtual knowledge tours and all the information that kissing research online. That stuff is fine if there really is no way to replace the benefits of being able to see a place for themselves and envision themselves on campus sure there was a time. We're very few got to visit college campuses before they actually went to those places but the pendulum has swung so far in the in the other direction that now it's made a return to those early days much more difficult as a result i think students after rely a lot more human resources. They have so like their deans or the family of friends who have gotten to know them really well and so say a student comes and says okay. Cj i am interested in medium size college in or around urban area. I can come up and they can come up with a list of five to ten colleges right in all of them. And i throw out some of the places that fit into that into that space. It's northwestern vanderbilt. Wash u. carnegie-mellon. Tufts johns hopkins case western. Like i could keep going down a line with these types of schools on paper..

"Welcome to the supporting cast. This is ally goldsmith. Today's guest is chris jones head of the upper school. Deans westlake in this episode. Chris or cj to his colleagues speaks about how the college admission process changes in a pandemic for example how to students choose colleges when they are unable to tour campuses in person and therefore forced to rely more heavily on either geographical stereotypes or hopefully their relationship with trusted dean like cj a relationship however further complicated by now also being virtual and what happens when colleges go quote test optional and quote causing massive increases in the number of applications at in particular the most highly selective schools. What impact might that have. On the way those applications are evaluated and might test optional. Be actually here to stay. Cj also talks about growing up on the south side of chicago and despite losing his father at age seven the many inspiring figures who always seem to appear at critical times to guide him to saint ignatius prep to williams college into college admission and then into college counseling reflecting upon the reality that he was the only boy in his south side neighborhood to attend graduate from college. Cj has in turn made it his life's work.

GonNa be playing with a chip on his shoulder this year. Because of how his college career ended. And the fact that he performed so well at the combine or tested so of the combine. And, he still fell out of the first round, and all the way back to the second round. Of the fact that he was still there in available. Will I think he's GonNa. Definitely come in with an edge in his game and be looking to. These other teams that hate you missed out on me and I'm. GonNa! Make you regret it. With coming to Kansas City as a middle linebacker with a chip on your shoulder, come on with it, bring that chip with you and use it in every single game this season. You know I think the biggest thing that I really. Have noticed about William, gay junior outside of his athletic ability, his explosiveness. His. You. Know play against the Ron against the past. He's intelligent. He's a very intelligent player. He's probably the smartest linebacker coming out of the draft and again. One more time. We're GONNA bring up Brett beaches name because this each this vitro here. This is that checklist that you and I keep. Going back to over and over and over again I think we've been saying this for. Six to eight months now. He, he fit the the bill, and there is a bill on Kansas City in you know there there is a certain standard and I think at this point. any player. WHO's coming into this organization? Fits that. Standard, But? The locker rooms already there. It's not built. There's no bill process anymore. It's just filling holes as filling pieces and now the. Visas job even easier this this. The hard work. For the Kansas City chiefs is over. Now which just keeping that train moving? And that's what's exciting. Absolutely I got little off topic, but. I? Took it in the direction I like it. So. Chris I WANNA. Ask You you know. Is there anything else that you want to add to to the show tonight? We have a lot of time in between shows and. you know there really isn't anything going on to speak of we've you know we've? Come with a Lotta great content night and look I have to say this. This Chris Joan signing is huge. This is huge. This is a big deal. Kansas City a bigger than a lot of fans realize. You know like I'd mentioned earlier on the podcast and any other. Franchise Chris. Jones would walked. If you have Patrick Mahomes and then you have Chris Jones right behind him, I promise you in any other franchise. I would put my bottom dollar on it. Chris Jones would've walked in went somewhere else because there wouldn't be enough cap space to keep him within that franchise. So. Kansas City. Just realize how lucky we are at this point and you know respect. The front office because that's all comes from. So Chris Jones for years. Eighty million dollars. We're all happy campers. Patrick Mahomes. Huge contract. Record breaking. We are all happy campers about that as well now we are looking for a chiefs. Repeat seven to one odds. This could not be better scenario in Kansas. City chiefs, hell even have a winner of a contest tonight again, Bob Knoller. You're listening. You are the winner of the Artis. Chief case keenum radio contest. And Four. "Have that for my own little collection. Is very good. Yes absolutely so all right? We're GONNA. Move onto our last topic here this evening Chris. and. This is the big one you know. This is the million dollar question here and there's a lot of skeptics out there about. Will the chiefs go back to back. We'll the chiefs go go back to back and hit the super bowl again. And to start this off. Chris I WANNA to say that in two thousand nineteen, the chiefs. Were faced with forty to one odds of winning super bowl at the at the start of the season, and as it stands right now. The chiefs have seven to one odds and are obviously the favorites. To repeat and go back to the Super Bowl and those odds stepped up. You know from the moment that Chris Jones was signed so that is you know even Vegas Even Vegas. They realize how much value Chris. Jones holds to the Kansas City chiefs and our odds dramatically stepped up, so Chris will start with you. Do. We have what it takes to repeat and if you know a secondary question. There are some weaknesses and the defensive secondary, will the chiefs. Do what it takes to fill. Those needs or the chiefs go on with. "Alkan San all summer long as far run it back by looking at how this all season has played out. We to be running it back running back running it back. I'm so excited with this contract signing with Jones and the future cannot look any better for the chiefs right now. It is deathly looking like a scenario where we're starting dynasty here in. The, Chiefs Kingdom there've been mentioned of that before. You know and I think it's safe to say when you look at a player like Chris Jones and make him the third highest defensive tackle in the NFL. Well deserving mind you. Look. We're putting a very polished product on the field. And you know this Chris Johns. Contract really came on the heels of Patrick. Mahomes contract which you know Chris. I wanted to ask you about this because we haven't really got a chance to discuss this situation. Do you feel like that? The chiefs pushed. The Patrick Mahomes contract because Chris Jones gave the chiefs. That deadline of July fifteenth to get his contract done as well. Do you think that helped the Chris? Jones? kind of put the pressure on Kansas. City helped him get the passion. Mahomes deal done as well. They were definitely related She's had to know What kind of money they were investing in the quarterback.

"We're going to start off the last segment talking about. "Chris Joe's. What else do you want to know? Patrick mahomes needs signed. The chiefs needed. Keep cow around Patrick Mahomes. We signed a player like Curious Jones twenty million dollars a year. Bottom line is you will not have as much talent. Around Patrick so. I'm just GONNA. Keep it simple. Keep it short. Today is just me. Chris's now on air today obviously. But Kansas City look. Don't get emotionally attached to any player. Except Patch, mahomes and Frank Clark. And look the. Will be around the Organization for a long time, we think Christians would be here for a while. Yes, but look. It's not going to happen. He wants too much money. He deserves too much money in the chiefs. Just can't afford it so kind of get used to that Kansas City. We'll see what happens here, but just remember. We have a general manager and Brett Beach. Who knows exactly what he's doing and has mason calculated moves? To keep high. Intel, around. I think. All of you know that this will probably be addressed in the draft or trade or the potential of A. Low risk high reward type of player. That has been proven to work out for the chiefs last season. There's a handful of those players of the Kansas City signed, and it has proved then a proven recipe for success so. Just remember. Depth Chart. And the rotation. Is always rotating Kansas City and it's always rotating. Never GonNA stop, can't that's impossible? Players will come and players will go. But remember. There's there's. Enough talent around. Kansas City for this really not to affect the chiefs. Will. So. I really look forward to a thousand and twenty season I. Hope it goes down as Levine like they're. Okay. They've already cancelled two preseason games so the first preseason game in the last preseason game. But the thing is. I I hope that they play season without fans. I know that sounds crazy, but I still WANNA see football still wanna see football, and that's still in the works. We'll wait and see what happens. Has Been You. Know One of the craziest years of everyone's life we. There's a lot of uncertainty ahead. Just right now you know focus on your family. Take care of yourself and we'll keep. We'll keep you posted on this news and it's twenty twenty NFL season. If there is a season. We'll have to wait and see Kansas City Hey. Look, thank you for tuning in. Look it's crunch time? It's crunch time. The chiefs have got to make a decision by July fifteenth and that is twelve days away so. Look, we'll be sitting on our hands waiting. Chris Jones. I mean I. "Radio. I'm your host Richard Smith. and. It is July third. Friday and I want to say happy. Fourth of July not be on air tomorrow, so you will not be catching me, but. I. Hope All of you enjoy your fourth of July. Still practice social distancing where your masks. Because this could obviously be one of the. Biggest weekends to spread this pandemic, but I'm not here to talk about that. Today. We're GONNA. Talk About Chris, Jones, because. Chris has put the chiefs you know in a tough situation and by July fifteenth. Chris Jones has demanded twenty million dollars, or he will sit out the two thousand and twenty NFL season. And That's what is that eleven days away. Twelve Days Right now twelve days away from the July Fifteenth deadline of. Chris Jones demanding. Year. Now. Here's the predicament here. Chris Jones definitely deserves this money. The chiefs can. They. The chiefs could make it happen. The thing about it is not practical by any means. I. Here's the thing. If the chiefs signed Chris Jones to twenty million dollars, a year contract that means that the chiefs are could be squeezing pennies to keep talent around the rest of the roster. Especially of the Patrick Mahomes contract coming up, we'll talk about a little later. But let's talk a little bit of stats about Christians and why he deserves twenty million dollars year Chris Jones had nine sacks in two thousand nineteen, and it was a large contributor to the emergence of the chiefs defense during super bowl run last season. Look play after play Chris Jones knocking involve Chris Jones is. Getting in quarterbacks face causing chaos, he he really was a large contributor to. To everything that the chiefs on defense last season and I think that. You know it's tough to see a player like this demand money. On twitter. And taking advice from player like lay levy on Bell, who hustled his way right out of Pittsburgh and now is nameless. Jets I know he's sitting back making money and I know that's the name of the game but. I don't know the Labia Bell situation is a little bit different than Chris Jones. I think if Chris Jones leaves, you know he is going to go to a a contender. I can't see him leaving Kansas City and sign with jets, or you know Cincinnati, or you know just a team where you know. Nobody talks about him anymore. But Nine sacks. I mean is that worth twenty million? Yeah, but the season before yet fifteen and a half sex. And in his four year career, he's had thirty three sacks one touchdown to interceptions. The production is there. My thing is I believe in Britain beach. I feel as though if if the chiefs let Christians walk or trade Christian whatever the case may be, however, it plays out I, don't know. I. Don't see the chiefs signing him to a contract like that, so we'll see what happens free agency. He'll walk whatever the case may be. I don't know I I feel like the chiefs will be okay moving forward. Nobody is permanent in any organization besides player like Patrick Mahomes, and this is the very reason you know. Patrick is the very reason why the chiefs can't sign Christians. Where's it where where is? The. Where's the line in the sand? You know for Chris. Jones to not realize you know Hey Patrick Mahomes as once in a lifetime. You know this is a once in a lifetime player. Chris. Yes, you're very good player, but you are not a patrick. Mahomes your and that doesn't. You fell into a bad generation to get paid at Kansas City. And and that's really where it lies. Chris I. It's just. Bad timing for you bad timing for you to get your money with Kansas City, the chiefs. Need versatility they need to have. A means in a way to keep producing talent. And that then that will never exist. A you know investing all of this into you and so at this point. You know. This. I say it's time to let them walk. Casey Kingdom radios. View right now I really. I. Really think that it's okay. Look! We have great production out of Chris. I believe in the draft I believe that you know there's money to be spent elsewhere. I also believe in the depth. Of the Chiefs Defensive Line I think somebody will step up. K Pass. and. Fill, those shoes you know. There's other players coming back as well you. The chiefs kingdom kind of. Overlooks. All honestly that's crazy 'cause. I can't even remember his name right now and we're GONNA. Look this up real quick because I'm not GonNa let that flow. But yeah, there's players coming back from injuries and the chiefs are really looking good on on the defensive side of the ball. I think it's okay to let Christians, walk. So let's go the Detroit here. Came from New Orleans. Why. Such a hard time. Remembering his name, but he got injured last season, and has kind of been overlooked, and I'm excited to see him. Come back and he's a defensive end. Where we are here, okay. Alto for that's it. I cannot believe I cannot remember that Alex over before I should have had the debtor pulled up anyway? He'll be coming back from a from injuries well. Look Kaelin Saunders could step up Derek. There's a number of players here. That could really. Step Up. And make us completely. Forget about Chris Jones and don't forget about Frank Clark. We have. Willie Gay Junior? I'm not really too worried about Chris Jones. And this whole scenario and I? Here's the thing. The best thing about Chris Jones compared to a player like D Ford. Is this season we're not talking about. Well what would have happened or what you know? What ruined the season? You Know Chris Jones obviously. Did nothing but excellence and Kansas City. He it. It's just a situation where Paschel mahomes needs to get paid. He really needs to get paid. That's all there is to it. 'cause chiefs came to be honest with you I. Don't think anybody. There's no scale that will. Compare the two players. Do you want Chris. Jones, or do you want Patrick Mahomes? It's just. It's not even close. It's not even close Kansas City so I. Honestly think that you should just prepare for Chris. Jones to sit I don't think it's a smart move for the chiefs to move forward with any type of long term deal with Chris Jones. It's going to lock up too much too much cap space the needs to be spread among the team. There's plenty of up and down the roster I don't think is going to hurt Kansas. City is as much as you know. We are emotionally invested in Chris Jones. I it's not going to hurt the chiefs. It's time to let them walk and it's time to move on. Stone Cold Jones root beer whatever whatever it is. We'll still have on, and everybody will still support Chris Jones, but he's going to have to go get his money from another team. And there's that's really the bottom line. That's all there is to it. We've gone through the stats. Chiefs Cap Space in two thousand and twenty six point two five million dollars. You know. There's just nothing there that makes sense..

"Taking the very high end fantasy glory impossible. But what if pick your love this? And this is levian bell the Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, let it happen. I let it happen. They were just a weren't. They just about one level away from a Super Bowl title last year. Wouldn't you say? Bruce worth just eleve- bell away. Yes. I mean, they almost got there with Damian Williams, and I would dance a beautiful dance on the fantasy grave of Damian Williams. If left bell were to go to Kansas City now lev bell at his current asking price would only cost the chiefs about two two and a half times more per yard than any other running back in football. They also investment they also need to find an extension for tyreek hill. They've got gotta find an extension for Chris Jones. This is a near impossibility. But what if I mean the question was what are you most want to see happen? I wanna see what Patrick Mahomes does with Sammy Watkins Levy on bell. Tyreek hill and Travis Kelsey. I think you saw it was what he did with cream. Yeah. You're right. You're right Damien Williams. But that is that's full man from the Mancha that isn't impossible. Now, the reason why the even comes up is on the basis of. Whenever of any team has a quarterback on a rookie contract. They have the opportunity to exploit the the capital positions. But they do have talented players need extensions is not likely to happen left. Bell to can't hear Helms already going into your three. Let's take a step back and just say how about love bell to a good team. That's what I'd most like to see happen and free agency have belly. Luckily that bell to Indianapolis. No bell to Kansas City. Love bell to somebody that is above five hundred. I think the only I think the only good team if you're talking last year, the only good team would be Houston. What about two more? I don't think they'll all they won't go pay. Yeah. All but they would not be the biggest knife twist in vision the teams with the cap money that wanna make the run and need the big name or probably teams like the jets and the raiders which leave. "But then they went on a sevengame losing streak and as the loss of started started to pile up the efforts started to go in the tank and you know last year chris jones kind of a similar situation there not i wouldn't say there comparisons in terms of play style or any of that i'm just saying the the story in the situation the christiane jumped on tape is one of the ten fifteen best players unless you're class i really refused to budge on him because i thought he was gonna play hard earned the nfl and more consistently than he did it at a mississippi state and i think the same maliki even though i'm i'm i realize i'm in the minority but i can understand how teams are gonna pass on him because of the rest of you know the using a firstround pick on the players potentially on your so we'll see chris jones had a really good rookie season we played a consistently high level only time will tell likely pay the price of being a first round or on the second round uh but he's got an opportunity to make up for it in the league in and you can be more consistent i think there's a drop off after that though i think kayla brantley he's a good player on taste or seen inconsistency concerned with him i warmly is is strong he's got some passing ability but you know i think he's more of the elite seconds to third of and you know you get into other guys were kinda third round prospects larry's hogan jobe from uncc charlotte carlos watkins from clemson dalbon tomlinson you why like more than i expected to alabama jalil johnson from i my tributes adams who was a late round of free agent on 2015 taste and was uh late first rounder on 2016 tape so again was a contract here and he's only gonna play when money is on the line or you know has grown up in and become more consistent player but there is some doubt i think in the third round to me that's where the value is if you're trying to track the defense to tackle be sitting there using the new york giants and you look at ways to eighty seven to try to fill this void is that's gotta become the tugofwar my guess is in the garage.
