I am Matt Verderam alongside Gilberto Manzano as always here in the midweek edition of the show. We've got a lot to get to because last week might have given us the best slate of games we're gonna have all week long. We had four games that everybody thought were gonna be great and as it turned out, three of them were pretty good. One of which was a blowout. We'll get to all them here in a minute then of course we have our week 10 lines of five games that we're gonna focus on from our SI Sportsbook odds and then from there we also have the midseason awards that we have to get to as we are halfway home in the 2023 NFL season. Before we get to all that, let's welcome the other man of the tandem, Gil, what's going on man? How you been? Yeah, I'm doing well. Matt, as you know, I like to brag about my wins and complain about my losses and last week was a good week. I went 12 -2 with the picks but I am pretty disappointed that I betted against Joshua Dobbs. What a game, right? Unbelievable. I'm annoyed. You went 12 -2, I went 11 -3 and I feel like 11 -3 should have given me some bragging rights for the week and yet it did not happen. So I will say on the whole, our group, yourself, myself, Connor, Orr, Albert Breer, Mitch and John our editors and Claire, another editor of ours as well that does great work, I feel like everybody's picks have been really pretty good this year. There are some years you look at picks and go, oh my god, I'm barely above 500. Right now, I've got the sheep pulled up in front of me, so the best record is Albert who's 95 -41, went 11 -3 last week and then after that, Claire Kawana is right behind him with 92 wins and then in gold it says 87 wins and then it's myself, yourself, John and then Connor Orr at 75 and 65 pulling up the rear, so Connor's got to step up. Connor is bringing down the credibility of this entire group. That's not bad for last play, so 10 games over 500? His thing is, we all do our upset picks and he's done 50 upset picks. I think I've done like 16. So that's part of the reason, but yeah, the picks are good and of course people that want to can read those over at SI .com, we put them out every week. The editors are nice enough to put that together. All right, so last week, like I said, we had some great games. We had Chiefs Dolphins over in Germany and then we had Ravens, Seahawks, which we thought would be a great game, turned out to be a massacre, Late Window, Cowboys, Eagles, which was one of the wildest games I can remember seeing in quite some time and then of course we had Bills, Bengals at the end, the Sunday night game there and so like I said, we'll get to all those. Let's just start with how the day actually started. Over in Frankfort, Chiefs build up a 21 -0 lead on Miami. Miami comes back, makes it 21 -14. They had a couple drives at the end where they could have tied the game, even taken the lead if they went for two. They got into Kansas City territory both times, but both times ended up going backwards, lose the game. They dropped to 6 -3. Chiefs, of course, improved to 7 -2. Both teams go on their bye weeks. I'll So, let you set the stage here, Gilberto. What is it to you, is it more about the Dolphins that game or is it more about the Chiefs? It is more about the Dolphins because they can't beat a team with a winning record and don't tell me the Chargers are .500 and the Dolphins beat them. They barely got to .500, so I am concerned about the Dolphins, but I don't want to let the Chiefs off the hook, Matt, and I know you've been writing about this, but the Dolphins have been pretty average. It got to a point where now Mahomes is saying, yeah, we sting. We're pretty bad. Go talk about the defense. That defense is carrying us the entire season. You know what's kind of funny, Matt? This season, it feels like the team with the best defense might win the Super Bowl, and the Chiefs still have the best defense right now, it feels like, so it's kind of a weird irony, but you expect better from Mahomes and Kelsey, but the wide receivers, they can't create separation. And it wasn't for that awesome fumble, reverse play, whatever it was from Cook there. They would have probably lost a game there, but what's going on with the Dolphins offense? Averaging 17 points against the Bills, Eagles, and the Chiefs, so I go with the Dolphins there because I feel like the Chiefs could figure it out. It's halfway point in the season, they're just cruising by, and I think something will finally break out there, but I'll let you maybe talk about the Chiefs a little more. But the Dolphins, man, you're supposed to be the most explosive offense, highest scoring, and you can't even get a first down. It's like, do they have too many home run hitters? Too many touchdown makers? How about some chain movers? How about some first down people? How about some quick outs, and just get four or five yards, and everything just feels like a home run, and they don't adjust, and they don't kind of make end game adjustments because credit to the Chiefs, and Tyreek Hill said it too, they covered, there was great coverage on Tyreek Hill, so it's kind of one of those games where like, why not get a tight end that can help you out here? Why not get some guys that can make it easier? How about go to Raheem Oster a little more? He had like 12 carries, and he's averaging 7 .1 yards per carry, so I don't know what's going on with Mike McDaniel on two, and two was pretty bad in that second half there. Yeah, he had the touchdown to Cedric Wilson, but make some adjustments, Mike McDaniel, and stop going for the home run ball, Tua. Yeah, look, first of all, I agree, I think the Dolphins are the bigger storyline coming out of the game. Like, they've now played three really good teams, and they've lost all three of them, and they came back against Kansas City, but they were getting killed in that game too. They were 21 -0 midway through the third quarter, and frankly, if Chris Jones doesn't take one of the dumbest personal fouls you've ever seen, it's probably 21 -7, and we're having a different discussion. I think your point though, man, is good with the Dolphins in the sense of like, there's timing strung off. They're just dead in the water. They have no answer for it, and we've seen that now multiple times, this year and last year. Kansas City basically said, we're going to get up on the line of scrimmage, we're going to get our hands on Tyreek Hill, we're going to reroute them, we're going to cause problems. Look, who knows them better than the Chiefs, right? I mean, they know what can cause some issues, and they actually went back and watched practice tape of a couple years ago to try to figure out how to stop them. They went back and watched how they worked against him in team drills and practice, and tried to figure out some things, and it obviously worked. But from the Chiefs' angle of this, listen, the offense is a disaster, okay? They had 46 yards in the second half of the game in a turnover. But they're 7 -2 in the number one seed in the AFC because the defense is incredible, and they're just shutting people down left and right. If you go and look this year at teams that have played the Chiefs, nobody's thrown for 300 yards. Kirk Cousins came the closest. He was up in the higher 200s because he threw a million passes. But if you look at Gough's numbers, 253 yards, one touchdown, which was a good game. That was without Chris Jones that week. Trevor Lawrence, they didn't score a touchdown. He threw 41 times for 216 yards. Justin Fields threw for 99 yards. Zach Wilson, of all people, had one of the best days against him, 245 and two touchdowns. That game. wild And then you had Cousins, who went for 284 and two touchdowns on 47 attempts. Russell Wilson threw for 95 yards one game, and in the other game, the game that they won, he threw for 114. These teams, two I didn't throw for 200 yards. Nobody's throwing for yardage against them. They're second in the league in sacks, the first in pressure rate. They've got two elite corners in McDuffie and Sneet, and so, look, the question with Kansas City is obvious. Can this offense get going? Because if the offense gets going, they're probably the best team in the NFL. I mean, if they get even borderline top -10 production out of that offense, forget it. They have the week now to scout. I was texting with some people around the team, and I think there's a general thought of like, look, it's a bunch of little things that are throwing off the whole thing. Question is, how many of those little things can you fix in the next couple of months? The good news is you have Mahalem, you have Kelsey, you've got a good offensive line, you've got Andy Reid. The bad news is they have you and me at receiver. So, I mean, that's the question. My guess? They'll fix it to an extent. I don't think it's going to be a unit that you'll look at and go, oh my God, they're incredible. I think it's probably going to be a top -10 unit right around there at the end of the year. They're in the mix, but yeah, I agree, man. The Dolphins are definitely the thing that you'll look at right now, and the team you'll look at right now and go, all right, you're going to make the playoffs, but what are you going to do when you get there? Are you going to beat somebody good, or is there going to be a one -and -done? Matt, let me ask a quick question, because you watch this team closely, and I think I watch them good enough because they're always on prime time, but all these analytics people are saying, look at the EPA, look at the DVOA. They're top five in offense in all these categories, and I'm like, I get it. You keep showing me the numbers, but I keep watching the games, and the wide receivers are not that great. They're not scoring points. They had nine points against Denver, so I don't know what it is. Maybe when you said disaster, I'm like, okay, cool, because I was trying to play it safe. Maybe they're average because there's something here that I'm missing with the DVOA and the EPA. They're a disaster by their standards. By anyone else's standards, yeah, they're probably still an above -average offense, but by their standards, they're a train wreck. I will say this. People forget it because they won the Super Bowl last year. They were somewhat of a train wreck offensively the first half of last year, too. They had a bunch of games last year. They lost to the Colts last year. They muddled through a Chargers game that they ended up winning because of a pick -six that went 99 yards the other way. They struggled offensively against the Bills. They ended up beating the Raiders on a Monday night last year, but they were down 17 -0, and they needed to come back in that game. They were not good offensively for stretches of last season, and then they're them. In January, they cranked it up, and that was it. Even on one ankle, Mahomes did enough to win. But this has been the year before that. They were 3 -4 at the beginning of the year. They couldn't score a point in that season. That was the year Mahomes played, again, by his standards, not by anybody else's, but by his standards. He played poorly. You go to 2021, and they lost in the AFC title game. They were 3 -4, and then people say, oh, well, then they came out of it. They did in terms of that they won games. Their point totals after that 3 -4 start, they won 20 -17, 13 -7. Then they blew the Raiders out, scored 41, 19 -9, 22 -9. The last couple of years, they've had stretches like this, but by their standards, they're a disaster offensively right now. By the NFL's standards, they're probably somewhere between 10 -12th in the league offensively. So, got to take it for what it's worth. Yeah. All right. Let's get to the next game here. The Bengals and the Bills will go right to Sunday Night Football, speaking of a team that by their standards is an offensive disaster, despite what EPA will tell you. I'm not here to bag on the analytics, guys. I will tell you this. I'm a big eye test guy. You watch the Bills. My eye test, I don't care that they're fourth or whatever in EPA offensively. They have not been good over the last month and change. I don't think there's any way to say that otherwise. They go to Cincinnati. They made it a little bit closer at the end, but they were down 24 -10 with a few minutes left. They score a touchdown. They get the two, but they can't get the ball back. The Bengals now, 5 -3. Winners of four straight playing like we expected them to play at the beginning of the year. The Bills are 5 -4. It has been a struggle for them. They started the year 3 -1. Since then, they're 2 -3 going in the other direction. They have a very hard schedule. We'll get to that in a moment. What was your main takeaway from that Bengals -Bills game? Just the difference in quarterback play between Joe Burrow and Josh Allen and how to cover that game. I wrote about it. I kept seeing Joe Burrow moving around the pocket and extending plays. Then I look at the boxer, I'm like, wait, he has four rushing yards? I thought he ran for a bunch of yards. I know he had that one where he had the first down kind of signal. It's just when pressure comes, he knows how to move. It's smooth. It's not like he has to speed it up. He just says, okay, cool. You're right there, but I'm still going to do what I have to do and just extend plays. Matt, when it's Drew Sample and Tanner Hudson and Erskine Jr., Trenton Irwin, these guys are making plays. Then you look at Josh Allen, when the pressure comes, it looks difficult. It's chaotic. He has to kind of see what's out there and then, okay, force a throw or miss a throw. I get the Bengals defense is better than the Bills defense, so Burrow had maybe an easier time, but there was pressure. He was fighting pressure. I get it. The second there is not as good there, but it just seems harder for Josh Allen.

A highlight from 41: 2023 Predictions!
"Welcome to the Ultra Flex Football Podcast where we have fun with our friends while we talk about football and any anything else we wanna talk about. We're here for season two. I don't know if we're officially calling it season two but this is our second season of talking about NFL football. So, we're back. With me as always is Rob Green. What's up? And Ryan Wheeler. Howdy, howdy. Season two episode one is what it's officially gonna be titled and Tony, I told you not to talk so close to the mic, man. You like, blew out my eardrums there at the beginning but I just get excited. I know. You're so excited. You get excited so easily. We were talking about that before we like, actually started recording but anywho, uh so, we do that thing where we have an album and we split up the songs in the album and we try to get the song titles into the show as discreetly as possible. Sometimes not as discreet as we'd like to think we are but we're gonna give you our titles that way you know what to listen for. See how many you can catch. Just a little game within our show. My song titles, the album first of all is called Down to Earth by Jimmy Buffet. Rest in peace, Jimmy Buffet. It's his first album. Down to Earth. The songs that I have to get in are The Christian, LSD, The Missionary, and A Mile High in Denver. Rob, what do you got? Alright, I have the captain and the kid, Captain America, Ain't He a Genius, and Turnabout. Alright, and Sir Anthony. I've got There's Nothing Soft about Hard Times, I Can't Be Your Hero Today, and Truck Stop Salvation. So, we'll see if we can get all of those in. Uh most of the episode today is gonna be football. It's uh we we were doing some things during the off season to help pass time. Uh you know, Ultra Flex After Dark and having some fun with games and things like that but football season is here. Uh we're gonna be doing football talk here in a second where we're gonna pick our division of winners. We're gonna pick our Super Bowl, MVP, and then we're gonna pick week one games and then we'll have one game at the end. So, uh football, football, football. So, let's get it started with football talk. Just that really amps you up, doesn't it? Golly, that was good. It puts me in the football mood. It just, it feels like we're kind of, you know, whimsical, a little bit of uh goofy when we talk. So, I thought that was a good one for football, our football talk. Let's, let's start with, in my opinion, the less competitive conference which would be the NFC. Uh maybe you guys think differently. Um but let's go with NFC West. We'll skim over this if we all agree pretty quickly. Uh I'll go first. This one and then we'll just kinda alternate uh as we jump divisions but uh for me, the NFC West is the 49ers winning this division. Um I think they're the best team in the NFC. Any chance we can like we go NFC West that includes the that way for people that don't necessarily have the NFC West on the top of their head you're just gonna see that includes like the 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals, uh Rams. Yeah, you just you just did it. Yeah, we can do it. Okay. Nailed it. Yeah. So, 49ers, Seahawks, uh Cardinals, Rams. For me, Cardinals, Rams are both gonna be pretty not so great. Comes out of the Seahawks and 49ers and I just think the 49ers are a better roster. Brian? Oh, it's next. Um I'm gonna go with the 49ers. I just think top to bottom, the roster is the best. Rob? Yeah, I agree but I wanna be different. So, give me the Seahawks. We hated on him last year. We picked him to be like what? One and sixteen I think cuz we thought they were terrible. Gino Smith's gonna continue his uh career turnaround, turn about. I don't know if I can use that here. And uh. And he's gonna lead them to a division title. Alright. They have the offensive weapons to do it though. They definitely have the offensive weapons. Maybe Brock Purdy isn't as good as he looked at the end of last year. We'll see. He doesn't have to be. They have Sam Darnold as the backup. I don't think that's why he doesn't have to be good but anyway. Yeah. I think he has enough weapons and Kyle Shanahan around him that will make him. Exactly it. Make him look good. Uh Ryan, I'll let you go first this time. We're talking about the NFC North. So, we got the Lions, the Packers, the Bears, and the Vikings. Who do you have winning that? The NFC North, I have the Packers taking that division. It kinda just feels like a crapshoot division honestly. I mean, I don't really feel good about my pick. I don't feel about picking any, good about picking any of those teams. So, I just want Jordan Love to be good because he's got an awesome name and quite honestly, that's that's how I came up with my answer. So, I was like, got the guy that has love in his name. I'm pretty sure from looking at this division, the odds are the closest bunch of four out of all the the division. Makes sense. So, it kind of is the most wide open division, I think. Who do you have? Yeah, who do you have picking, Rob? You know, our team last year was the Lions. So, I'm gonna I'm gonna bring that over to this year. Let's go with the Lions too. I don't even know the last time they won the division. Nineties probably. Early 90s, mid 90s. If they did then. I just don't know either. I think we'll find out pretty early AKA we're filming this on a Monday before the season starts. So, we'll find out in 3 days whether or not they'll be a pretty good team again which they have enough talent on the offense to put up points. It'll just. Yeah, what are we thinking like 60 points in that first game here with the Lions and Chiefs? It's gonna be a high score game. Probably, yeah. Yeah, no Chris Jones for the Chiefs and then the Lions don't really have much of anybody on defense. Um that means that yeah, they did what they took that linebacker. I can't think of his name right now. Um. The guy that everybody won the bills. Jack Campbell. Jack Campbell. Yeah. Yeah. Um but I agree. I have power on offense to be the best team in that division but I wouldn't would I be shocked if the Vikings or the Packers or even the Bears for that matter were to win it. Probably not. So, I'll go with the Lions. Uh the NFC East another compelling division. Got three and a half maybe. I don't know about Washington. Good teams. Um which the Cowboys, the Eagles, uh the commanders, and the Giants. Rob, who do you have winning the NFC East? Yeah, I like the Eagles. I think they're the best team in the NFC and I think they showed that last year. I think they'll do that again this year. Jalen Hurts continues his uh breakout. I won't say an MVP season but he could have another MVP caliber season like he did last year. Yeah, mine's gonna be the Eagles as well. I think their roster. While the Cowboys and Giants are gonna probably both win nine, ten games. I think the Eagles are just good enough to win eleven or twelve games and and win that division. So, Ryan, what about you? Yeah, I'm gonna be different and go uh Cowboys um not because I wanna be different but because I actually think the Cowboys are I think they have a better defense and I think their offense maybe not as good but I think they have a good offense and uh quite honestly, both these teams have pretty cake schedules. Um the Rob and I were talking about it earlier. Um sorry, we left you out of this conversation, Tony but the uh the Cowboys or I'm sorry, the the Eagles first was like seven games are the Patriots, Vikings, Buccaneers, Commanders, Rams, Jets, Dolphins, and then commanders again. It's like it's not that difficult. It could be six and one, seven and all. Yeah. And then the Cowboys was very similar. Like last year. So, it kinda feels like whoever wins this division is probably gonna win it with twelve. Twelve wins. Somewhere around there. Eleven, twelve. So, I just, I'm just gonna go Cowboys on that. That's gonna be a lot of my points in the AFC uh which we'll talk about in a second uh which is how hard all of their schedules are but uh last division um the NFC side is the NFC South. Could be the worst division in football. Uh we got the Saints, the Bucks, the Falcons, and the Panthers.
Steve Deace Has Undergone a Lot of Attacks in the "Spiritual Realm"
"Some of you know, if you listen to this program, is that there's this thing called spiritual warfare. When you do something really, really powerful for God, usually. The satanic enemy doesn't like it. And you get some pushback. That's actually a good thing. It shows you're over the target. Steve days was hospitalized while he was promoting this film. I'll let him tell the story. He was hospitalized again. Steve dace, my friend, congratulations on everything. And I'm just really thrilled to be looking at you that you're out of the hospital and you're able to do a show like this. As someone who's prayed for you and exhorted others to do the same, I am really just thrilled to see you back in the land of the living. God bless you, my friend, and welcome. Thank you, brother. Appreciate it. And I appreciate all those prayers. I felt him in the hospital Friday afternoon. And I was as demoralized and discouraged as I've ever been, and Eric literally ten minutes before I started talking to you. I got a text from one of our one of our other producers, our director of marketing John Sullivan. His car was just totaled by a nursing student who fell asleep. Luckily, he just had gotten out of his car. Two days ago, an hour after I got out of the hospital, one of our other producers, Chris Jones, Eric texted me that he nearly got killed by a car. He was putting his infant son Judah and his car seat in a parking lot in SUV came out of nowhere, took the door of his car off total it, missed him by inches. This is just getting at this point, this is getting insane.

"Totally agree with your overall assessment though. It was interesting to me because it felt like two guys doing their first Super Bowl, not the sense that they were nervous, but in the sense that they were very cognizant of not putting too many fingerprints on the game. They were laying back a little bit, calling the game, doing the analysis, but also not over doing it. It felt like two rookies in that sense where they were very aware. This is our first game. Yeah. Don't try to do too much. Leave it at that. Yeah. Listen, I can understand why people may want some hype and maybe some over the topness for the Super Bowl since it's the Super Bowl. But I think if you are any play by play guy in analyst or woman, it's smart to call that game, like you're calling week 6, 1 o'clock, you know, Carolina at the rams. Like, people don't want to be screamed at and told everything is great. You have to really pick your spots with that. You can't do it constantly. And I thought they somehow have managed to do that. They know when to do it. I mean, they know when to do it, and they do it perfectly. We try the other approach in the AFC championship game two weeks ago. We were told every play was the biggest play of the season and every time Chris Jones did anything that great players make big plays and big games. And it was incredibly annoying. Yeah.

"That punt that led to the safety, you know, they pinned them on the one and it just felt like, first of all, I don't even remember the last time a QB has stepped on the back end zone. Orlovsky, right? But that but our last key played 15 years ago. So that was the last time? Yeah. 12 years ago? It was him and the Mark Sanchez butt fumble was redeemed with the butt punt. Yeah, so like two bonehead plays of the century come back. It's funny that he was like three yards out of the end zone. He was so far out of it. It wasn't even like his heel clipped it. This game tonight, 13 first dance for the niners, 14 for the Broncos. I just don't feel like either of these teams that they both showed some like a whole that makes me think long term. We try not to overreact in September, but for San Francisco. You saw it at night while they were trying to get off Jimmy G for the entire off season. I'd probably hiring him the most. And then for Denver, it's just that the coaching, all of it, did you notice near the end though that the guy ran out of bounce and they just ripped the clock off for 40 seconds. They ran the ball. Like with two 20 left or something. And toriko was like, huh, that was weird. It's like you have Mike Pereira right there, whoever you have. Just blew it off. He's like, but yeah, but really, let's give this credit to this day. You brought some Wilson told the guy to keep the clock going. Yeah, very strange. The best team we saw today, in my opinion, was Jacksonville. Yeah, maybe. Demolished the Chargers. The game was over within like 40 minutes. They did this to the colts last week. They have two ass kicks in a row. And I think to me, the story come out of week three other than some of the boneheaded stuff we can get into later was that Jacksonville, I think as a legitimate on the fringe contender now. And I wouldn't be surprised if they were a legit contender, like three, four weeks from now. I like that they're not just talented on both ends, two good pass rusher, defensive line, guys. Lawrence looks great. Two running backs that both were making stuff happen and the receivers are fine. And that team looks really polished. They look hungry. They have little killer instinct. They put the game away, they're laying it on Herbert, like really, really big time. I was impressed. That's two weeks in a row for them. I can't disagree with any of that. And but I'm eating a lot of crow because the AFC south was excellent today, right? Except for Houston, Chicago, whatever. I thought indie was dog shit in that game. That game was over 19 times. And then Ryan third and 15, Chris Jones gets the unsportsman like after the play is over. I'm still trying to figure out. The colts were done. They were punting mahomes is going to give first down the game was over. But there shouldn't be any week where the AFC south won three games. And the AFC and four loses three games. Right. Yeah. So that was a strange man. The Jags are sitting at plus two 40 right now to win that division. Yeah, well, I can't say anything bad about the Jags, but the Chargers are just, I mean, this was the one home field advantage. They were going to have, but the Jaguars fans that were actually chargers jerseys in the crowd, I saw. And they were never in it. Never, ever in it. And that coach, I don't know. I mean, the coaching is getting worse. Stanley had him in there at Herbert in there. Herbert barely standing upright down 28 points with three 40 left, and he's still taking snaps. What are they doing? It was 38, ten, he was in there with a minute left, wasn't he? It was a minute left. Yeah, you're right. Yeah. All the way. I thought it was questionable whether he should have even started because they were missing offensive linemen. They were missing Keenan Allen. I don't know. And then you hear about the Chargers team doctor and he's going to get a shot and it was like the parallels of that to the Michael Myers is back again commercials. You could stop thinking about it. Let's keep the team doctor away from Justin. How is this the same doctor? I think we talked about this last week. Is there a shortage of doctors in the LA area? What is going on with that? I was very nervous. Yeah, I was very nervous. The thing with Lawrence though, Kyle and I were reminiscing last year. When we felt like maybe Mac Jones had a chance to be better than Trevor Lawrence and then you watched today, it's like Trevor Lawrence, he's got everything. We thought last year, I gave him a pass for last year along with a lot of other people because it was like, that was the most messed up football rookie quarterback situation we've had. This urban Meyer thinks one of the all time atrocities we've seen on a first year quarterback. So just write it off. And the distance from last year to what we saw these last two weeks. And this looks like if you're starting a team, you know, Herbert, I think mahomes are still young enough to be in that conversation, but Lawrence is kind of edging toward that and Josh Allen obviously, but Lawrence is kind of edging toward that Joe burrow spot. Right? He's like four years younger, I think. Yeah. All right, I don't want to go. Well, I mean, I was thinking of the other way. Yeah, yes. Lawrence might be the cream of the crop last year's crop. How about what do you think with the two years ago rankings between to borrow and Herbert now? There's like two of them making a move. We're now like a week or two away from hearing that, like, to us now propel themselves to number one on that in those three. Well, he certainly number one on the I thought you were completely concussed. How are you back in this game? What the hell just happened? Unreal. And they're investigating, right? The players association is investigating. What are they investigating? It looked like Lawrence turns 22 next week. Trevor Lawrence. Wow. You should call and leave him a message. Two it looked like Trevor berbick after Mike Tyson knocked him out in the mid 80s where he was like delayed. He was wobbling around. It's like, well, that sucks because he was playing really well. I thought he was really good in the first half. And this sucks, this moment's ruined. And then all of a sudden there is in the third quarter. You can't surprise. You can't say his head bounced off the turf like daffy duck. You can't say it was a back injury, right? Yeah, they try to say it. Aggravated a back injury that there was a nerve that got triggered, which was why he reacted that. It was like, oh, that's what happens when you slam your head against the turf. I mean, this organization. What more can you do to them? You can take away the way. I'll say this because I thought that was a bad I mean, they ran, don't worry if you're a bills fan, honestly, 'cause I wouldn't be surprised if they won by 40 when they rematch in Buffalo.

"I don't know how much of an impact that really makes. I would like to see the Bengals doing fantastic. It'd be awesome if they were 8 no to start the year. I just don't think that's a realistic expectation for the Cincinnati Bengals. I was very, very critical of this move. I did not like it. I knew Jamar chase would be a star player, but I did not think he would lead to Cincinnati winning more games. And I was really, really worried about the Bengals offensive line. In fact, I still actually kind of am like going into the Super Bowl. I'm like, just please, Joe burrow, do not die. That's all I'm asking for. Joe burrow gets hit a ton and I certainly did not expect anything like what happened in the Tennessee Titans playoff game where Joe burrow got sacked 9 times and still found a way to win. That doesn't happen. You don't win football games when that happens to you. And I would actually say that Bengals are kind of getting away with one right now. Where in year one, Joe burrow got hurt, destroyed his knee, and it's hard to not blame the offensive line. And the thing I just did not account for is Joey B is just a wizard at surviving in the pocket. He avoids sacks like crazy. There's a play against the Kansas City Chiefs where Chris Jones has him dead to rights, not once, but twice on the same play, and he avoids a he ducks under it, then avoids a sack with like an ankle bite. And he does that all the time. He avoids sacks like crazy. Like you just are like, I didn't, he's not Russell Wilson. He's not as fast, doesn't have a crazy amount of top end speed, but he's just like a little slippery. You can't get a hold on Joe burrow. He's hard to sack. He's also incredible in a messy pocket..

"I feel like the only catch chase made downfield in that divisional round game in Tennessee was the last one to set up the set of the field goal there. I think everything else was a lot of quick stuff. And that said, I mean, he is, he is incredible with the ball in his hands, like at a level where I always thought he was good with the ball in his hands at LSU. I didn't think he was going to be able to do what he's doing, which is, I mean, there was a one throw to the flat, where it's like, two guys were pursuing them. It's like, all right, this is gonna be like a four yard gain and all of a sudden he just hits another hits another level here and turns the corner and doesn't lose any speed when he's turning the corner and then he's 25 yards down field. So he created a bunch of stuff out of kind of nothing in that game. And then they had the one big throw to him and that was that was kind of it, but I would expect, especially after last time, I mean, they have to bracket him at all times. There's no, there's no more option for the chiefs. There's no more single coverage on a Jamar chase in any scenario. Yeah. And I went back and I was looking at their first matchup and this is so it's interesting. What the Titans did to Joe burrow. I thought was worth noting because they traditionally are one of the least blitz happy teams in the NFL. And what they did early was they kind of emptied the emptied the ammo on their blitz stuff, which was only like four or 5 times that they blitzed, right? And they also emptied their ammo on all the stunt stuff where they were kind of switching stuff with the defensive line and have one guy crash. One guy loop all that kind of stuff. But then for the rest of the game, once the Bengals were tired, it was four on 5 and it was just like an ass kicking, you know, and Jeffrey Simmons was just dominating. And the chiefs didn't even need to do that in their first matchup. Like if you look at that opening drive, you know, and I don't know how many times this has happened to the Bengals this year where did basically three guys trying to block Chris Jones and then you somehow get Frank Clark like isolated on the tight end. And this happened time and time and time again for them. And of course, Joe burrow just gets crushed on that. And you don't need Jeffrey Simmons to be able to create that kind of pressure. And if you have Chris Jones plus Frank Clark, like you're going to be able to really kind of screw his day up a little bit. So other side of the ball here, last time they met it was look it was a bit of a dink and dunk game for mahomes and this chief's offense here and they were out to a lead. They maybe ran a little bit more than you'd get in a normal game script and then the Bengals came back and retook the lead. But I do want to note, when they played last time, Tyree killed did not seem to be, you know, it looked like he was playing about 75%. He was not his usual self, whereas, as we saw last week, he was his usual self, but when they met the first time, let's see 40 yards on 6 catches and ten targets..

"Gregory is a great addition there and had that batted down pass interception but can cut a break up. Some of those quick throws that Patrick mahomes does to get a lot of his best skill position players involved. So i think again. It's like it's not one of those things re freak out and you see the blueprint exists to be the chiefs but you know that it's possible on a slightly more regular basis than it was before. Yeah it's it's not like Taking away tarry kill with some and never Occurred to people over the past couple of seasons. I mean they're they're gonna see this more often than not this. This sort of exaggerated too deep safety. Look where you absolutely do not let anything over the top Come in there. But i mean right now. Look a part of the reason. The chiefs are losing games because they are turning the ball over. They are giving away possessions. fort four giveaway zero takeaways. That is the second time in three weeks. They have done that. They didn't gets the chargers to their minus seven on the season and turnover differential up. That stuff makes a difference when you are getting into these sort of the tonight wasn't one possession but if you get into a lot of possession gains and ended up giving possession that That makes a difference there. Also just no no pass rush and we know. We know chris jones tonight but like i dunno frank clark man. Frank clark is just been complete. Non factor which And they gave up a ton of draft capital. They gave him a big contract. They now decided they would whether you know his his Passed the domestic violence Allegation from from his michigan days that kept a lot of teams away from him and right. Now they're just getting nothing out of the guy i mean. They definitely missed chris jones because he is such a presence up front and also because he has to be such a presence. Upfront and there just. Aren't that many good players on defense. So when you're missing one of those good players it really makes a big impact. It does feel a little bit. Like i don't know correct me if i'm wrong here. But that the chiefs are kind of what they are. Right is a collection of very very good players to elite players. And then just like a and then just players you know what i mean. It seems like the roster has grown more top heavy The you know. And i'm not blaming it on patrick mahomes contractor or anything but like since the days of that second super bowl the roster has kind of grown slightly more top heavy to the point. Where like i think you have a lot of replacement level guys mixed in and while it's every team i think the replacement level talent there is is not as elevated. Maybe a smaller teams not. I think that's fair. And a guy like daniel sorenson. Who's been around there forever. And they keep them there for that sorta comfort level and then he gives you the you know sort of shaky performance like he got tonight from from a safety in a game where you just don't wanna give up. Repeated big plays not. The you want that to happen any game but especially when you're going against a really good team like buffalo and this is my favorite part of.

"Tout really i mean. If he was doing that on a team like the chiefs in primetime he'd become a household name like with that kind of campaign. Oh one hundred percent. i think jerry's does become a household name. I don't think it's a jalen ramsey type of situation. But marcus peters made a name for himself here and that was with a high volatility type of Know type of top style. You know all or nothing legitimate need. I don't wanna say is all or nothing. But he has more on the aggressive side. Yeah and he's not afraid to tackle so no he's not. He's echoing forum. Who do you got on the offensive side. I'm going to go. Joe tony and and I think this offensive line is going to be everything that people wanted to be. And i think in the end you gotta give it to one player and i you know everyone is either brand new or new to a position and i think by the season's end. We're gonna say joe. Tony has been about all the offensive lineman on that line are gonna go. It helps so much to have a proven anchor right in the interior to help. The young guys grow to help orlando brown. Make the transition to a different offense. He's been in that championship culture before and this line lost all their leader. So you know it just makes sense to me four for tuning to kinda the representative of that bunch And then on the defensive side. I think chris jones is gonna get fifteen plus sacks so when you do that on a team like the chiefs i have a hard time picking anyone else as very fair i. It's just. I can't argue kansas city though has so many guys to choose from. That's how you know they're so deep. I really like your joe tune pick. I wanted to pick some of the offense aligned. Because you know me. I think oh line makes more of a difference in the running back themselves..

Worldwide box office is a matter of fact for the people in paris. That where you're going with. I'm talking about people in memphis and in over his talk in this country then. yeah maybe. it's patrick mahomes. I still think it's paul rudd in the united states and i think it's paul rudd worldwide. I think i've got one. That's bigger about. Walt disney like walt disney is Is a little bigger than moment. Move onto another. Be kidding me i. it's it's the biggest movie studio in the world. A friend of mine by the name adjust vernier would say. Are we getting serious today. I i. I can't wait until i get to go to that vendors part alex so sweet oh i'm gonna go. Oh god yeah god. He's from everywhere and say maybe from kansas city. So let's go with god over them. Cheese walt disney studios literally in kansas city is. It really didn't know that do every day because his childhood home. I really don't like how youtube clip. Some people may get old for by every time. I see you see him on late night shows when he's on foul injuries on everything gets who does he play for the kansas city chiefs or if people in kansas city. Kansas city cheese. They it's it's they're in. And i love that. Sorta don't seriously don't mess with me. Don't do any outtakes to make me look stupid did last week. I'm just saying. I'm just saying if we went to a random city across the county random rule city. Paul rudd walked up to you. I bet that person would know who. Paul rudd is over petrol bombs. I don't think so. I don't i don't think so. I think you have paul rudd bigger than he actually is. He's not. Woody is bigger than harrelson. He's not woody harrelson right now. Yes amongst young people. Yes yeah. I think it would depend on the age group but you just said some. Yeah i don't think so. I mean i've been sitting here thinking. Is he bigger the jason today kiss right now with ted lasts one hundred percent that i think you're right on that he's a movie star lasso. Ted lasted into such. It's got a cult following but it's on apple plus the i've never seen his famous. But paul rudd is is a movie star in a completely different level. He's completely different. Stratosphere than this is the podcast you can cut this up but i forget i need to hold on what level. What level of star paul. Rudd if you compare aleister. He's compare another movie store that you think he's on the same level of Virtually anyone in the marvel cinematic universe. He's chris pratt. Chris hemsworth chris. Evans robert downey junior tier with all of those people. Because he is an ayla star movie star who owned his own superhero franchise. That's low weightless. Because i'm thinking it's not. It's the top of the list. No they're not like the top of the list is like brad pitt and like recognizable. People like pay. Leo and and guys like that yes. I totally agree. Robert deniro like really famous actors like that. Who have been doing it for a long time. Really really successful. All of the people in the marvel cinematic universe right now. They are boxoffice monsters. They make a billion dollars every time they make a movie. You know paul rudd only make three hundred thousand dollars for him. And that's told us our billion they make no martin marvel and disney makeup billion dollars. They generally do that with so when they launched marvel movies they generally paid the actors a small amount of money to start and then they'll give them a percentage if if it really takes off and they all take off because people will go see whatever marvel puts out now because everything they put out his good i paul rudd star but i feel like you just feel like you got him a little higher than scarlett johansson aleister or yes. She's different. she's completely different. She was rod for paul rods in the same tier. I mean i know. I can't go with that i i can't go with and i like paul. I love anchorman. Like he's just. I mean he's been the star of like one movie. The main like of a move that we give a damn about knits ant man like i feel like you've got him like in wealfare tiered farrell. He had a great cameo role in captain. America's civil war headey. Hey second an movie. That was very successful and had a huge role in avengers. Endgame the number one box office film of all time hill. I'm moving on resembles by the way ways. Best averill was in a black highly recommend. No of it is a hacker. Tremendous michelman moving. "Does it. Does it get old. Does it ever get old. Patrick mahomes is on the cover of madden again. There's only been three people who have been on the cover of madden multiple times. Tom brady patrick. Mahomes and john madden only three and they are. They are mahomes in embrace are on it together. Initially i saw. And i might make some people matt here. Initially i saw it was going to be two goats but Now i then they made it the. Mvp edition allographs real issue if it was to goes like i love Mahomes and everything. But he can't he can't be b the goat. There's only one and tom keeps holding him. Tom is the reason why he doesn't probably have three super bowls in d. ford but tom is the reason beating on the road in arrowhead beat him in the super bowl last year so he can't be the but i wonder. Does this get old for people. A kid the city. This doesn't for me because every time you see it. It just rips the city and there is nothing better than every time you see. Patrick mahomes immediately. The next move is kansas city when the state farm commercials with a new jake. I wonder how much how much as he's gotten since he's become the state formed guy. I wonder how much extra he's got that it's that needs to get cut out but anyway But jake from state for a whenever you see him on the state farm commercials adidas commercials or coors like. It immediately makes you think of kansas city. And that's why. I love it and it will never get old for me. That the had the chiefs ever had a guy that is other people's best favorite player outside of the city may really marcus allen briefly at that time maybe not. I don't think tony did tony. Move the needle dawson. Way back in the day dante. No i just don't think i tony. Tony might have been the closest thing that the chiefs had you know. What actually derrick thomas derrick. Thomas might have been that guy now. You'd think there were people it the way that i feel like. I'm in texas urine ear. I'm in houston year in saint. Louis who knows. Steve lives but like i wonder if like you see people walking around with mahomes jerseys ed I've been in other cities in dallas or in In the in chicago. You see people wearing mahomes jersey's you think derrick thomas dirges would be worn not like values. Don't see edge rusher have that often me. Jj watt kind of has a little bit of that appeal. If you're looking for one in the last twenty years that maybe could have this kind. It's different because he's a quarterback. Patrick mahomes is the number one on this us now. Trying to figure out who would be to. Maybe maybe priest holmes just because the fantasy aspect of it there was a little bit of that in the early two thousands but again we're reaching here like nobody has ever even been close to what patrick mahomes is right now. I saw there was a list that the nfl pa put out the other day of the guys in the league right now that have the greatest social media influence so of all the players in the nfl. The the greatest reach social media wise in number one on that list is tom. Brady no surprise he's z. Transcends the sport in a way that very few can patrick mahomes number two and the rest of that top. Five was russell wilson. Jj watt and rob gronkowski. So like for the way that i will do. My fiancee knows you. Rob gronkowski is. She couldn't care less about football. Grow gronk had the tv show but he was doing. What was it. wipe out was he on. That was the everybody loves crock. Just he's fine. He was he was in. He a patriot in the boston area. A huge metropolitan city like he. Wwe for a little bit. Yeah i think him. And tom are the only two players. In this patriots era transcended the patriots like their names were bigger than the patriots brand right. Because you've got a bunch of great players in hall of famers now that played for the patriots over the last twenty years but their brand those players was never bigger than the patriots itself. And i think breathing gronk were the only two that really transcended that and i think that's what's happening right now. With patrick mahomes. I think mahomes i think there are people that are bigger mahomes fans than they are chiefs fans and that's super rare. Yep no he is like for me. I'm lebron fan. And i think there are. Nfl fans that are like that I talked to people here. And i know he's from he's from white house texas but i talked to people here who they love mahomes right and kids that go to school with my son. They're wearing jerseys. They love mahomes. He's their guy. He's our favorite player and it's not just because he went to high school in texas is just. That's that's the star player of the league. So mahomes on the cover of med. Never done get old because it just whenever you see him that means he's generally in a chief jersey and that means it's kansas city that follows behind that and that is a rep. The town baby ripped the town and and like we just haven't had the experience. I don't even know if you could even call an athlete like that. I don't even know if george brit pushed it that way for the royals or anything like that different time to like. That's the other thing is there's just so much more reach now from an athlete than there was thirty five forty years ago because of social media because of espn twenty four hour news. Sports radio like there's just so many more places where these athletes can reach an audience that didn't exist when george brett was in his prime. I this may be a wild question to ask. Is there ever anybody in the history of kansas city. That had as big of an audience as patrick mahomes going to area streaming outfits probably going to be up there residents tech nine. Paul rudd his ant man stop. Paul goes scott lang mahomes and is like. Hey it's really cool to meet patrick mahal thirty. Go take a walk paul. Rudd paul wrote his ant man. He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world. See you are in love with marvel and ant man doesn't mean he's it doesn't touch others. That doesn't mean that. Paul rudd is not one of the biggest movie stars in the world he definitely is but i think mahomes is bigger. My off on that age is no off service drunk. Are you kidding me paul. I think paul rudd is is much more famous than patrick mahomes. You think yes. Paul paul rudd might gig out when he gets in meet. Patrick mahomes because he thinks it's cool and he's a chief's fan or whatever. Paul rudd is much more famous than patrick mahomes. Oh no i can't agree with hundred percent. Paul rudd is a worldwide movie star.

Because everything has changed, and I guess it you know the lesson when we look back on this, You know if I come on the show in another three months, people, you know, we're gonna be talking about how fast this changed and how well prepared we were for this sort of the dizzying Rapidity of it all. You know, it's just kind of amazing to me. It is living proof. Incredible times. We are living through incredible times. And you're right. I mean, I think it happened so fast that we way weren't were not mentally prepared for it. I just hope they're right. Because I You know, I am ready to go to Ravinia. I'm ready to take off my mask. I would imagine you're ready to review live theater again. Have you done any of that? Well, I've done a little bit of it. I've gone to some comedy shows I'm vaccinated. And so I'm not worried, you know, And I'm I, You know, I think there were risks. I think that So I'm okay with all of that, But I've not been to a really big show, you know, in an indoor setting with a full house, and I think that's going to be a special thing. You know, My theory is that The huge pent up demand to get outside and to get to entertainment. And I think we're seeing this in cities like Vegas, you know where a lot of the show's closed down those shows the reopening of the summer. "One of the best Talkers in communicators. They all talk to help point out switches, they'll make contact and and that stuff is starts really with with your Senator guy in the middle who's able to adjust on the Fly and like you said card some perimeter stuff and blow up some ball screens and that makes a huge difference. So just to close the loop on the conversation. We were having originally recent back ports that I think are unbelievable Ryan archdeacon and Jalen Brunson came to mind for sure that duo. I think was ridiculous for Villanova in that first title run off. There was another one I had was oh Ty Jerome and Kyle guy I think is one that could be brought up here. I don't think that they quite stack up but it also helps when you have a log We picking the next things a lot easier. It's like turn the corn the NBA playing the three helps right the Kentucky backcourt of like all essentially lead guards of Aaron Harrison Devin Booker and Tyler ulis like Aaron Harris and I wouldn't call a lead guard necessarily but I mean, all three of those guys is unbelievable. But on the bench too though, like he didn't even start right? Yeah. I know kind of like we're doing the the thing of like plugging in for our narrative here, but like those guys weren't even thought the biggest minute guys cuz they spread across everybody right which makes this conversation like enormously trickier in some way. I don't know it. Could you think of anything else? I thought of Dr. Malik monk too, but I feel like they don't really even totally fit. Right right. No, I mean no matter what you do when you have a list like this and you have college basketball's top five, whatever generally with people. Yeah, the the last couple I want to bring up our the Russ Smith years at Louisville. Russ had some really good partners as well. Terry Rozier is a freshman was a pretty good one. So a week from yesterday, there's 63 degrees high. That's the high and Tom even says that the rest of March looks pretty darn warm right now. No snow, he says. No storms. No super cold temperatures anywhere in the long range forecast, so that sounds awfully awfully nice. If you want to spring break here, I don't know. Let's talk about Chicago Theater Week is this week and Chris Jones covers theater over at the Chicago Tribune Does a heck of a job, But it Chris, how are you doing today? Happy Theater week. Onto you. We have to wait till Monday for 63 degrees. I'm ready like now now. Well as Tom what? Nine hundred sixty two or sixty three was the last time they've been able to go and so they lifted the ban for three years for team sports and that was my senior year and it was. It was the best experience ever. We actually got to go to the tournament at one point that year even number one in the country and d three Want our first game which was a home game is the last home game of my career had a free legendary move to lives on people's. Don't talk about which was cool. We fell to umass dartmouth plays its game never forget. I'll never forget the last couple of plays of that game. Issa stuff that you you always remember that that group of us. There were six seniors that year. We've remained pretty tight over the years not that we communicate all the time. But we're we're relatively close. I think my my coach. Harry sheehy who is now the hall of fame out there in new england are classes really his class..

"You do find academically like that wouldn't be a problem but the classes would be a little bit bigger and you could get lost their. You know you could choose not to go and it wouldn't be a big deal and you would do fine. I think a place like williams at smaller you'd be noticed people would know if you weren't around and i think that's the kind of kicking you might so us an idea when i was like as a high school student. That really helped me to make my decision like wow. Here's this person that knows me really well looking at these places. I don't know a whole lot about what colleges and what college means a lot to me that that's a huge part of the reason i decided to williams. Yeah and what's his name or her name. Thomas swayed he was a priest there Got other than him were. There are other people in your high school years. That influenced you. Obviously this was influenced in terms of your college choice but were there other folks that lit a fire in you either academically or athletic. When i think about influences in that way to lines of reason for me here at one one is my paternal grandmother was such a big major influence for me so again. My dad died when i was seven. Lived in the same neighborhood that i grew up in and so long story short. My mom and i and my sister's dad because my mom wound up getting with somebody else. And so mom. And i my sister's data my little sister move to the suburbs. That wasn't working out for number of reasons for me. So i wound up moving back into the city and moved in with my grandmother so she has probably been the most influential figure in my life for sure just really inspire me to keep going all the title. Just the one person i could say not only was. I convinced that she loved me unconditionally. Her actions always supported that. Like always important of that. Can you give an example. yes this is. This is sort of a funny story. Southie with community. Know this already but it gets to a side of me like i am pretty laid back person you almost all the time. The one place that. I never was on the basketball court. Justice incense competitive drive. That was where i compartmentalize like all those base parts of me you know and my senior year of high school. I remember losing a game. It was one of our ice games. Lost the game and then it was right after the game to an ads. Anybody knows me knows..

"Harvard like seniors on average somewhere between eight and twelve applications as the norm this year. It's fell a bit heavier than that. And i would probably guess we're in the ten to fifteen range student again. That's not a huge increase when you multiply that out among all high schools across the country the world you can imagine what's happening with all these colleges now without without the benefit of the new. Yeah really admission right. As is the most highly selected colleges had huge increases in absolutely absolutely. So when you think about so. Let's actually jump into that. So that gets into the test. Optional piece from everywhere. It doesn't matter what they're testing was lie either. They couldn't test or they were able to test in weren't particularly pleased with their testing if they're coming from a school and they've got great grades and they're taken great courses. They're doing really well. But maybe in the past whatever their test scores were things that would make them as competitive at a particular institution. That kid can apply to that school. Now they've got just as equal shot as everybody else. i think. That's one of the things as we were talking earlier about. Kids not being able to go out and visit colleges and not being able to discern so that nuance between different schools. Instead of saying okay. i'm interested in. Let's go back to the example a medium size college in around the city instead of saying well. These are twenty five schools that fit that. I'm going to apply to all twenty five kit. Used to say wow out of that. Twenty five these five or six really feel like me and so they can tailor list now without that benefit there just the planet across the board to all the schools that fit a particular category for them and then that ratchets up the anxiety and what have also seemed to was at the schools that are really seeing the influx of apps are the ones on the coasts versus the ones that are steady. Maybe a little bit upper even in decline tend to be in the mid west and someone in the south and so our our finance. Yeah what's explaining that the belief is that you're talking about applications that are coming from more densely populated areas those more densely populated areas. Politically might lead sir way and believe that the midwest. The south isn't the place for me you know we haven't heard that from a number of kids but there have been enough years said things like. Oh i'm coming from california. I know that i want to go. East fly over the midwest. To get him he's coast if they stop in the midwest so stop in chicago if they're gonna stop in chicago. Then maybe they'll go to saint louis if we'll go to columbus do some different things around there to make a more robust trip and out stopping in chicago right now. Kids are still applying to the places in chicago but those places around they would naturally been able to see on a bigger trip. They're not seeing those places and they're they're having beliefs about what it must be there politically and they're just not even apply it again. That's an area that's out there and when they're not able to see it in person answering see kids that might look like them or know that even at a conservative university there might be a young democrats club or at a very liberal uc berkeley. There might be a young republicans club or whatever not to go there and see it. The stereotypes might yeah override. Anything else does..

"His timing is everything in life. You're Charlie got kids to see a portion of it, not the whole thing, but a goodly portion of it with the update, And with the break, I did get to see yes, some of the weekend and its performance here at halftime. Here is my in depth analysis of the weekends overall, 14 men say what? Not long we've seen longer halftime performances. I don't know the exact time of it. I'm guessing here, but here is my in depth analysis of his performance. Mm. That's about it. I'm not going to say, man. Did he blow it, Michael? What was the NFL thinking? Putting him up there? He's not as exciting as what you usually get it half time. No. He's a solid performer and needs got one great song that he played on finished up with, and that was as expected, pretty darn good. It is a major production and kowtow to him and the NFL on everyone who's involved with it, And I'm sure they contract Ah musical production people to be able to put on as big a show is they do and and that seemed up to snuff but blew me away. Not even close. So if you want to do your quick critique of either the verse hand for the football game, and I give you some thoughts on that coming up in just seconds or the halftime show with the weekend I'm sorry. He's just not even in the same zip code with some of the other people that they've had performing over the last several years. Bruno Mars. I know they've already tapped into him a couple of times. But I would be okay. Bruno Mars played every year at halftime. He's that good that I'd be okay with that. And yeah, he makes the weekend look kind of pedestrian, which I think was A good way to describe this year's halftime entertainment performance. Now pedestrian would be overstating what to keeps brought to table in the first half of the actual football game. The Bucks lead 21 2 3.5 21 6. Give me but it did make that second two ago. Esso. It is within a two score game. They're down 15 points right now, And we know Patrick moms is capable of generating that kind of offense. But not off the look of what their first half offense was. Did not do much. Mahomes wasn't great. The offensive line which we know are playing with backups didn't do a good enough job protecting the homes. If it wasn't for his ability to jump and dodge and move and make backyard plays in the backfield, we would be looking at 50 60 70 yards in sacks so far. What we are looking at is and it is about his ugly. A performance in the first half of football was I can remember. The Kansas City teeth were flagged eight times for 95 yards. Eight penalties and almost every single one of them, you would say was big. It wasn't like, all right. They got second in 11 and a jump upside. Still second and six gives him a better chance to move. No, no, these were all fucked. Not all but a lot of penalties, led two first downs. Extended drives gave them a chance to take a field goal off the board instead. Get a touchdown. Just completely undisciplined play by the cans and keeps in the first half Shame on the players, but also shame on Kansas City's coaching staff, including the head coach Andy Reid. Really poor performance by Kansas City in the first half to penalties that were called that were complete and utter retaliation penalties. A Tampa player goaded a Kansas City player into taking an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty or lay dead penalty. Chris Jones on a plate trying to get the Brady uh, the Kansas City center. Does a good job of after Brady had gotten rid of the ball, getting up underneath the shoulder pads of Chris Jones and tick him off Jones, then retaliate and goes to the face. I don't know if the referee saw the first part of the skirmish between the two players he may or may not have, but he may have overlooked it because it wasn't to the face. Chris Jones responds with a shot to the face. Here comes the flag. 15 yards on sportsman like the drive continues for the box and the Touchdown that they got right here. At the end of the first half, which can cities drive stalls. They settle for a field goal. They run it on. First down, get all of two yards. And can see takes a time out. Then they get about five or six yards on second down, so they're looking at third and short can see takes time out again. The Patriots only have one time out. And it didn't look like they were going to call the time out there. So can city allows the Patriots 80 keep their time out and be to go for it On third down, they do. They conferred. Then a major pass interference penalty down the sidelines. Evans gets behind the defense. And Breeland. Trying to catch up makes a di about him, and I think he tripped on the play. But he absolutely called Evans caused. Evans to trip is well. They rightfully throw. The flag was pass interference and Romeo kept talking about. Well, was it a catchable ball and night? You can't know when you wipe out the receiver and take him off his feet unless it overthrown by 15 yards, that the referee s the speculate Would he have been able to extend and make the player diver make the play? They don't do that They automatically throw the flag. So that was a humongously dumb penalty. And then, as the drive continued, after Brady gets touched down, our gets close to touchdown. Tyron Matthews gets into enjoying match with Tom Brady Brady Absolutely got in Tyrone Matthews, his face first. They showed it on replay absolutely went up to him and started join at him. Tyrone Matthews comes back at him and again raises a finger to Brady's face. I don't know if he made contact or not. It wasn't like what Chris Jones did. Chris Jones absolutely went up underneath the Tampa centers, Tin strap and pushed his helmet. Of Tyronn Matthews. Donnie Badger tapped Tom Brady face mass. That was it, but he got in his face and again, it was retaliation. You can't do that. You can't get suckered into those stupid penalties. Kansas City is trailing in this game, due in large part to their own fault, their own complete, undisciplined ways. Shame on the players. Shame on Andy Reid. Now, Patrick the homes Patrick. Mom's in a Can. City offense is still potent and they took the opening kickoff and I've already dropped the ball about 30 yards and the 1st 2.5 minutes here. With a couple of nights passes in a couple of nights front, So this game is probably far from over. But the first half was all Tampa and it was because Kansas City just kept offering them chance after chance after chance. Have to chance. Oh, by the way that Brady guy in the first half 16 of 20 for 140 yards and not one, not 23 touchdown passes. Pretty damn impressive. He only two for 140 yards wasn't like He threw the ball all over the light. But he threw the ball accurately. He threw it to open wide receivers who made plays for him. He made passes that Defensive players on the cancer decide. Decided we better do something. Try and keep the guy from making a catch and took pass interference. Penalties. Oh, yeah. That That's what Tom Brady does to you. So the goat is getting the better of the little Billy goat so far here in the first half all Tom Brady 16 of 20. For 140 yards. It hasn't been what I expected. So far, I thought both teams will be able to move the ball through the air. The Patriot surely have. I thought Kansas City would be much more effective. For the third time. They've had a good drive that is taking the ball into Tampa Bay territory. But once again the driver's stalled and now they're trying a lengthy field goal. Harrison, but Gir from deep I think it was over 50 yards. If not, it was deep forties, but he checks it home. Gotta give Harrison but her credit he is keeping them in this game all by his lonesome. Kansas City's punter has had a terrible game so far, but their field goal kicker has been the only guy who scored for them. So far, we've already logged 30 some odd minutes of play. In Kansas City has not scored a touchdown. Yet the most prolific offense in football has not been able to get a touchdown gives some of the credit to the Tampa defense. Because they played well and again. They've been smart, something that can city has not been..

"That's the one thing that's been problematic forehead and one thing I can guarantee you. You will not hit Brady. Because if you get within a half yard of him, his fees falling right down to the ground pig dog. He knows, man. He's like, Dude, you can't take those hits anymore, Man. I got some their clothes I'm out with Rip cord wood is live for another day. I forget her sentence and foot. You don't you don't get old being dumb. And always on, Brady. See guys, he's old in this game. Hey, dumb is coming. Get down. Kansas City's got two guys that you've got a double on their defensive front. And that's a problem because you can't double that. You can't double both those guys. Your place. I want to see somebody block Christian Jones. Me, guys. I don't know how you guys feel about Jones. I think Jones is like my awesome one of most dominating Erin. Donald gets all the headlines and he is awesome. But Chris Jones is played huge and big games the last couple years. Yeah, Now Jones is great. I mean, he look, he's He's not Donald Cause no one is. I mean, Donald's just a freak, but he's right. That needs to the next level. Like if Donald, we're out of the league, he'd be right there with like the top handful of interior defensive lineman and football. Absolutely just now we've just on that. It's like You know what he's like. He's like Phil Mickelson and their Donald's like Tiger, like when Tiger was great, there was just a gap between him and everybody else. Everybody else. There's a lot of really good players. Davis went on Tiger's level, so I think that's how I see him. He's like a really good like one of the top interior defensive lineman of the football. Just Donald Tiger. He just was a gap between him and everybody else. If Chris Jones doesn't have the fourth quarter, you head in Super Bowl last year against the Niners, Niners win that game. You realize if we didn't have arms, the Niners have won a Super Bowl. Yes, that's that's entirely true. Guy wants to win. He's totally aware he pulled close up double teams. He stuffs the run. He throws linemen around penetrates in the backfield. I mean, it's amazing, but when when you beat him to get his hands on the passing lanes, bad things down. Uncanny. How good would you be with no hands, though? I know exactly what about of those balls down. You would have touched you in a bit within, like 2 ft. Of him. That is when Niners win nine years. What if you were headless? Oh, man, Then he'd be over. Yeah, he wouldn't know where to go. Be like Ichabod Crane. The headless horseman. He'd be like out there running around all over the place. Not have killed them that I killed him. I would have got my 45 to 1. All right, P 45 to 1. I haven't thought about that in a while and I really don't want to talk about it anymore. If left bell were to go to Kansas City now lev bell at his current asking price would only cost the chiefs about two two and a half times more per yard than any other running back in football.
