"Where does that energy go. Is it one of those cases where the personality cult does not continue to exist. Once the personality exits the scene Is there something there that might be tapped into by a perhaps you perish the thought more administratively competent and focused Authoritarian demagogue is trump is just about trump or is there's something else going on in the heads of a sizable cohort of your fellow citizens. I don't think trump is just about trump at all. I think trump was a is and was a symptom of developments. That were already happening in the united states. But i think wh and what he has shown is that To put it a different way the brand of conservatism that trump represents this coalition of this this coalition that targets arguably more working class voters by going by being anti war which is not something that most republicans have been in the past and t- trade. Which is not something that most republicans have been in the past Is effective is is something that people buy into. I would say. In addition to that it just shows how divided this nation is how divisive the rhetoric is if you do listen if you pay attention in the us to social media to media outlets of the variety of media outlets we. Have you really do get two different pictures of the united states depending on who you listen to and so it's almost it's difficult for me. Say an american it still. I watched us. But it's difficult for me to blame voters who vote for donald trump when the picture that they would be receiving from media from politicians on the conservative side. The picture that has been painted of not only joe biden but what the democrats would bring to this country. The destructiveness of what they would bring to this country. The stark terms that that is put in. It's hard to blame them for saying. You know what i'm actually fearful of a democrat getting into power and that's really what we've seen in this election. This sharp sharp divide between republicans and democrats that we have now today. Chris joe mark and thomas. Louis thank you both for joining us. You're listening to the briefing. Monica twenty four. You are listening to the briefing with me and ramallah. The united states prides itself often ostentatiously as a beacon of democracy a light on the hill and so forth at various points in its history. "That's less than ideal to say the least. I think we should really expect some. Bumps in the road rough sledding. Yeah, maybe even some flat out ugly football for the first month. It's it's not going to be an easy transition to the NFL for these rookies, considering the current circumstances with everything going on our final question that we have here is. Do you see Bj Hill? And RJ Macintosh making big contributions this year, or could either be in danger of not making the roster the way we see it and the way we talk about on the defensive line preview, bj Hill. Yes, he's going to be in the rotation. He's one of the more talented defensive lineman that the giants have right now. He just ends up being behind. Leonard Williams in priority of getting on the field became Tosh, probably going to get cut. He hasn't really done much. He hasn't done anything to impress. Anyone hasn't even really got on the field, so he is a big cut candidate right now. Yeah, that's. That's pretty much exactly the way I see it, I think. Hill will be on the field. He will be a contributor if he can get the right matchups a hopefully. Maybe take a step forward in his third season. Maybe, he can even. Be something of an impact for the giants, because yet he does have good sized good strength. He's also a good. Athlete especially for a guy of his size. He has the ability to play pretty much anywhere. Anyone of those defensive tackle spots. The giants want to line him. Up Ad and As, long as he can use his tools, he should be a contributor and. I don't think it's unfair to. Look for him to have. A legitimate impact. As, for Macintosh or a Chris Layton another. Late Round Defensive Lineman that doesn't get talked about much I. At this point I would almost be surprised if they made the final roster all right. That's it for this mailbag episode of the Chris Joe.

So the book is my search for Christopher on the other side, and it's on Amazon dot com. It's in paperback kindle edition, and they're working on an audible right now super that'll be great. Let's take some final calls here for you. Let's go next to berry in rock hill, South Carolina. Hey, bear welco. Hello, George, and Joe I tell you what your job was gonna say something funny about the top. But I'll I'll save it for another time. But just sorta great Paul die. George is go down in history as one of your brightest achievements. And I'm telling you Joe, I could have written your book. And I know where you're coming from voted because my dad, and I had the same connection that you have Christopher. Except he was my dance Masan, right? I've lived forty seven years without him. Live forty seven years with Joe he's with me all the way get out of jail is getting out of being to drop the drive. Get out of that car and sleep on the street you have to but don't drive that car. But anyways, thank you so much for the book. I can't wait for the audio book because I'm half blind. But anyway, thanks again, welcome. Okay. Very very kind of you. Thank you. My old man comes through with Chris occasionally with mediums, and he said don't worry show. I got the kids. How does your family feel about the Christopher issue the book and all that? Well, you know what? The I think everybody understands that there's a spiritual bent, and I think they've all been exposed to a little bit since I've been on this rodeo ride to mediums and such. So I, you know, I think there's an acceptance to what I'm doing. Yeah. My son came up to me yesterday on my birthday in just said, I want you to know. How proud I am of. Yeah. So, you know, crystal out of the air out of the room when he was here, and he still does. And I think that can be difficult sometimes, but they're all embracing us. You know, so, you know, and I've been supportive, you know, the one thing about being the youngest to ten kids some dysfunctional Irish family is you really don't care what anybody outside your family thinks anyhow, but I do care about what parents who've lost kids thing. So that's why I'm doing Lois is with us and British Columbia Canada now Lois. Go ahead, please. Hi, george. Hey. What's up? Happy happy happy you year to you. And your thank you you too. My son committed suicide research. Two years later, my other son, who's only fourteen months younger than brick. Was murdered. Oh my God. And. I'm just hoping the two of them are together. That's the always saying that keeps me together. They keeps me to becoming unglued. I'm just hoping and praying that they are together. They do my great together. Joe don't they I you know, what? And there are the I've been told that their sole families. I'm told that my family comes together for events. I'm told that my dad is with my son all the time, and my older brother Jerry's there. So I feel real confident that they probably are together over there, the son who went I wasn't gonna let you other son. You know stumble over without him greeting him. And I think you know, when people tell me they haven't had a connection with somebody. I should just try a little harder, you know, work at it. Open your mind try to find a way to connect. And I think your boys probably wanna talk to you. So give it your best shot, and my heart goes out to you. It truly does like you, Lois hope everything. Works out the next up. We go to Chuck in Buffalo, New York. Chuck at your turn. Go ahead. Chuck. Hey, guys doing have. Did you sound from buffalo? Chuck. Yeah. That's why I was that's what you started Mike piqued my interest. When I heard from buffalo. My son Jacob passed away in a car accident last January twelfth right by right by where the bills play. So. I grew up in Hamburg. Oh, yeah. I live in derby. But I put buffalo. Oh, yeah. Against dated a girl from derby. And and. Zoellner for from derby. So yeah, I I went to Saint Francis. Okay. Yeah. I went to lake shore. Yeah. My brother Paul went to frontier. So it's a small world. My I went I went to a medium. And there are so many things that she told me that she should never have known, right? 'cause we work together. He we didn't garner. This kid started college yet. And we work together and he woke up he ought to right away. And he was leaving. I was making her sandwiches for for launch. And I'm like a racer there. And he's a guy whatever dead and then. Yeah, we're driving there right by the college there. Yeah. And I see his car all crumpled up in the middle of road. Oh, man turnaround, and the cops were they're just they just gotten out of the car, and they're like are you a witness and no, I'm dead. Yeah. Sorry. You know, you're you're sending to make it. There's like so many things that you say resonate like like the things people say and then going to the cemetery like the whole like moving him. Yeah. I said the same thing as if somebody's moving 'cause I'm I'm going to be next door neighbor. Somebody's moving his right from buffalo shoved out. Yeah. It's it's funny. You know?.

"I guess that's the reason. It's not a good enough reason for me I and this is. You know, what it's like for me. And I I have to watch every football game. So it's hard and you do too. So it's hard for us to to to to put ourselves in the shoes of fans. But will I says I am viewer of of the golf channel or like Fox Sports with UFC staff, right or boxing. I will watch any sport that I like at any level of any with any with any talent involved. Like, you watch the proble no, I'm traveling all the time. But what I'm saying is if you're a fan, you just want to see action of the thing you like I do not watch the Pro Bowl. Okay. And I'm only I'm always tr-. I'm always remember the Super Bowl. So are usually I am too. But there are moments and there have been years where I am in. I am on a couch or I'm in a hotel room. And the pro could be on. I'm saying not turn it on. What I'm saying is like if there's like a boxing match or you have c- Carter Formula one race or golf things that have nothing to do with my work that threes. I'm saying these like, I was the NBA method. Do some work things have nothing to do with. My work. It doesn't matter. How good it is. I'll just turn it on for ten minutes. But that's interesting. It's an interesting though. So anyway, do you because it's the thing you like it's not interesting to me though. I b we cover it for a living. I don't understand how anyone can think the pro bowls assisting somehow, it rates better than like like everything it's a terrible sporting event it and nothing this is nothing against Orlando. But at least the players used to get a trip to Hawaii that's reason enough twenty eight point six million people watched it. That's terrifying. Eight million six watch anything. So here is the other side of this. It's not just about the quality of the product, which is objectively terrible. It's about how misleading the Pro Bowl is. Because people use the Pro Bowl as a way to prop up players, and they use it as an accolade. And as a means to measure how good a player is actually is. And it's not that Mitchell Schwartz and Dave. Bacteria are respectively the best right and left tackles in the NFL the season. And they did not make the Pro Bowl. Chris Joe Hudson Roddy Hudson also did not make the proble Chris Jones has thirteen sacks this year for the chiefs a team that could not have higher standing in the NFL as it currently stands. And he did not make the Pro Bowl. I just don't get why we had if anything if the promo has to exist, which I really don't think it should or has to then why do we have a fan vote? Why is that part of how this is going? It just feels like it should either be joke, or we should take it really seriously and dimicco ground here. I just feel like we're losing so much and no one should ever use Pro Bowl appearances ever again as a way to evaluate a player's career. But people are still going to and I just I don't know. I hate the Pro Bowl, and I want everything about it to change. I wish there was a way for the senior bowl to be played. Instead of the Pro Bowl. Sure. Let's do that. You don't say. Like, I wish it was a way to have college process the same with the same. Yeah. I'm just saying like, we should we should have like the players can prayed around or whatever. And we can have like, you know, gronk like on the sideline or whatever. But I think I think from our perspective about learning. What's going on in football marching to see? Yes. I would much rather just have the senior bowl be the crown jewel of that weekend..

"Our show. Matt how's your giving good joint some leftover sandwiches? I know you're not a fan of them. So K I had plenty for both of us. My love. Doc. This fact that you can't walk it back. You said on the podcast. I don't eat leftover Turkey sandwiches. I just had another thanksgiving meal, which is fine. It's cool. You hate leftover Turkey sandwiches. So ver that's let it go. Not had a Turkey sandwich day. Okay. Just I had to try to get my my response in before you, you know, monologue for you know, three or four minutes so draft. So you're telling me. Of can we talk about? I wanted to talk about Chris Joe, I don't think we talked about him on this show last week. But like we were all in our DM's together with Craig and you just jumped in just like reminding us like hell mazing Chris Jones has become on a hot streak. I think he's got sacks and seven straight games is actually tied with deformed. And sax now he is nine facts and seven games. Yeah. So seven straight games with ASEC two of them. Obviously with two sacks than and yet ninety seven games. And he's he's on a tear right now. I know ESPN LA or whatever that production. Was that game spent the whole time talking about the Rams for everybody. Literally. I think we got a documentary life story auto biography of Aaron Donald and like the only Chris Jones mentioned you got was oh Christian's mid four year and got a sack. So it was really weird to see Chris Jones play almost if not at the same level as Aaron Donald for at least that game and just barely any coverage over it because the team. Win. And because he's not Aaron Donald. But he was he was a block full for the Rams game. And it's not like they have a poor offense line like some other teams. Jeez. Planned ribs lately. Right. Chris Jones really channel designer Aaron Donald on that sec. Fumbled. Didn't he he's been amazing the ability? He has I'm skipping this to cross the face of a garden front of them has gotten. I mean, it's huge this year. He's always been explosive ladder like that. But I think you can really tell especially later games and stuff that he's slimmed down a little bit this year, and he's a little bit more nicely professional, but more businesslike, he's a little slimmer in better shape. Because once he crosses the face of a guard that he's just manipulating his body just different angles than he has been able to before to quarter on the interior a little bit. He's not quite this tide of corner is Donald will make or something that but he's turned the corner on these guards in between centers. And then he's also got those freakishly arms in the stripe. Just throw people out of the way. It's it's been a pleasure to watch. And quite simply like before this year. I was kind of on the fence about like de wanna do Christians right away for extending him or wait another year. He's almost played up to the point down the stretch here where you kind of have to start having those talks pretty quickly to right? That's a good. It's a good problem to have. Because I mean, you've got tyreek hill looming. You've got Chris Jones contract looming. I mean, those are two dudes that you you. You clearly want to be part of the plan moving forward. Right. And I definitely think you have to start working tyreek hill now receiver contracts are only going to keep going up right now. So you do start working on it. And that's why kinda thought okay, you could wait on Chris Jones. Maybe because last year was up and down his rookie year. There's a lot more good than bad..

"I've just south of the one eighteen Acuna I've been able to get a few of the flames that licking up the hillside right on the outside. It looks now like they've. The westbound side traffic is still moving just a few minutes ago. It was really hard to hear you because they're dozen emergency vehicle. Maybe for coming along. But the smoke is really thick. Out the sun. They've been hitting it with helicopters, and it looks like the flamy died out a little bit. But it's still going pretty well down the direction of the fires moving. It looks like it could be moving towards homes on this side of the dollars. Where the fires are. And the way the wind is blowing blowing to the west and that was pushing into residential area. Did you say the flames are on the side of the freeway the claims on right now? All right. The planes are on the south side of the freeway. That would be the eastbound lanes that are shut down, and I can still see active fire and a lot of smoke. Okay. Traffic implications because of this. Let's bring Tom chant trend into the conversation as well. Tom houses fighting the one eighteen I'm keeping an eye on the drive right now. So we're getting reports from the fire. That's the one eighteen eastbound is going to be shut down near Yosemite in seamy valley. And we're getting word now that some of that fire Joe said it's on the southbound side of the freeway, which is going eastbound, we're getting reports that the fire is blowing across the freeway on the westbound side, which will be north of the one eighteen that's coming through from CHP. We're getting more information from that. But so the one eighteen westbound is moving the eastbound side issue down at Yosemite. And if this picks up and those flames indeed are crossing over the freeway out of the westbound side that may result in the one eighteen westbound getting shut down as well. Chris Joe where you are fire officials. Police officials what are you seeing as far as that goes are they get? People around or the are people getting out of their cars. Okay. So I could see up to the one eighteen from my vantage point right now. Eastbound side is is closed. The the westbound side is backed up completely looks like everybody's trying to get off the freeway, and it may look I'm trying to see right now. It looks to me like they're actually rerouting traffic from eastbound lanes. Awesome peculiar on ramp. That's what it looks like from my vantage point, but I can tell you. I Tom mentioned something to the effect that there may be fire on the north side of the freeway. I cannot see that from my vantage point. But it's clear that that there's a good amount of fire on the south side. I'm watching is another helicopter looks like it's coming in to make a drop. Lot more. Now dark smoke coming up a lot more black smoke now coming up, and it's making the water drop right now. Ok p Demetrio has just arrived in the area as well. Pete. What are you seeing from your vantage point? Vantage point looking at it. I'm just in about Yosemite avenue at this time, and you've got Brown and black smoke coming up. This is active and heavy brush. We've got at least one or two helicopters that I could see are making drops immediately. Traffic is rapidly backing up on the eastbound one eighteen these people are trying to get off universe at Yosemite avenue. But we've got a probably see a two hundred three hundred yard wide Paktia Brown smoke in there that is continuing to go up not as dense. It was a few minutes ago. But it's.

"Just when the value bitcoin is plunging fidelity moving into the crypto space, bad timing or something else Peggy and its fidelity, John. So, but if a surprise here to tell us more anti Massa, Bloomberg news reporter any what exactly I did? It fidelity say it's going to do now in the crypto space. So fidelity is going to offer a couple of different services to institutional clients in the crypto space the first is storage. So that's a key thing for institutional players. They're worried about how do I ensure the security of any crypto holdings that I have they're also going to offer some trading services and customer support. So if you have issues, you can call them up and figure out what the heck is going on. So this is their new offering and they just announced at a Bloomberg conference this week. I mean, why did they announce it here? But. Stop that. That is true though. But why why are they doing this? I think that they want to get out ahead of any other competitor. That might be eyeballing this. We know that Goldman Sachs in Northern Trust have been making a bit of noise around offerings. They could given the Chris Joe space to institutions, and I think that fidelity wanted to make a splash by being really one of the first come forward with a suite of products like this or a suite of offerings like this. The other thing that they mentioned is they've been exploring crypto for a long time a lot longer. Well, before the run up we saw last year they were investigating what they could be doing. So they said that actually they've been looking at this space since two thousand fourteen and they've even been mining bitcoin for several years, and they also made a big distinction to say that they're doing this at the start for institutional clients now fidelity is widely known for its retail mutual funds. They were making the point. That they're going out to market with these services for institutional clients. Can you tell us about who they're a little bit more about who they were targeting? What kind of institutions would want this? That's right. So you're looking at hedge funds family offices, these kinds of institutions, and the reason that they say they want to be in the institutional space for crypto is that a lot of the a lot of the market is geared toward retail right now, it's really driven by retail investors, and a lot of the underpinnings and some of the underlying kind of way the market works. Institutional investors aren't quite as comfortable with. So they're saying we wanted to come up with something that would show institutional investors, we we know how to cater to these institutional investors and give them something that they can't get quite yet in the crypto markets is this kind of like the Levi, Strauss, blue jeans. Business strategy. I was like I'm not going to go out into the fields and mind goal. But you know, I'll just provide the services to all those knuckleheads who were gonna do it. They want to provide. I guess they would call it. Some kind of ecosystem around. Around both training and storing cryptocurrency is really get out ahead of anybody else who might wanna start luring institutional crypto money. So the demand is there. I right. Well reality. But but they say they've been working with clients on this and the offering will launch in early next year, they'll start with just bitcoin an ether, and, but I think that they want to look at broader possibilities than just those crypto currencies how much how much money could they make? I mean, it's hard to say they didn't they didn't give an estimate, but one thing that their head of corporate business development was mentioning back in the day. Fidelity was one of the first leg electronic offerings for like electron. For you know, fun managed you sound skeptical. Well, I think that they just want to be an early mover and capitalize on the work that they've put into it for several years running now before before we saw such a crazy interest in crypto and in the past year or so to your note about some skepticism, what are some of the reasons why others have stayed on the sidelines and tried away. So you definitely have big fund houses. I've said we're not getting in there yet. At least the main reason, I think is that still regulation is murky to say the least and patchy from region to region. So a lot at black comes to mind to me, of course, as an example of a big institution that said, you know, what we're going to we're going to stay out of this and not provide any offering star clients around crypto currency so far because clients aren't asking for it. So. There's also some concern that some of the ways that people are using these digital coins is for nefarious purposes, shall I say or money laundering of sorts. So has his right. You know, if you're an intermediary like fidelity, you would think they would have to be on the hook for some of making sure that that's not happening. There's absolutely a reputational risk that they I guess that they're willing to run or or they think that it's they've decided that this is a store of value and enough that they're willing to participate. But I think that you're dead on that some some big companies are saying we're going to stay on the sidelines because there's just too much reputational risk and too many too much nefarious activity happening in bitcoin world. Now, if you're a big win investor you might say, well, what about the nefarious transactions that happen in cash? So I mean, it's all it's all relative. Okay. If bitcoin flops or the crypto currencies flop. Ops. Are they still well positioned because the technology behind it? Blockchain is is here to stay. They are looking at what they can do beyond just straight. Cryptocurrency. I think that they're really broadly looking at the possibilities of of blockchain, which is the underlying distributed ledger, which a lot of firms are saying right now, but they they've had an effort specific to block chain and crypto currencies that's been going on since two thousand fourteen. So they have been in it for a while. I'll be but it's still it may not be the crazy bit risky bet. It might appear to be on the surface. Yeah. One of the one of the reasons that it makes sense to be researching this spaces. You might say might not be bitcoin. It might not be a theory, but some concept of digital asset holdings of holding digital assets is going to be important going forward. And we want to be at the forefront of it. No matter how it manifests and we've seen a crazy ride this year primarily down. I would say in bitcoin after huge runup as he said last last year, but it's still way up if you got an early right, Sherry, and that that major run up just happened at the time that the bitcoin futures were being launched by CME and CBO and the price just spiked. And yeah, this year hasn't been as much of a it's been kind of a downward trend, but if you were an early investor you're still sitting pretty Andy, thank you so much for your reporting this week on fidelity opening a new unit to serve crypto currency traders thinks that's anti Massa, Bloomberg news investing reporter and just ahead on Bloomberg finance, Robin Hood in.

Dude, shaking off a block high pointing a Blake Bortles screen pass hitting the juke button. Then camping it into the end zone. Like, an absolute freaking, boss. Two words. Oh, yeah. Now, I gotta be straight. Now. The surprising part of yesterday's Kansas City. Win was not the chiefs putting up thirty on Saxon. Ville softens has built a score regardless of who they're facing. The surprising part was the chiefs de turning into absolute killers against the Jags team. That annihilated New England only a few weeks back Justin Houston wrecking house, d Ford. Look like the dude that the chiefs took in the first round and not the guy who struggled to stay on the field. And with Chris Jones wasn't snatching grabbing his way into the end zone. He was getting to the quarterback and the chiefs stood up to a Jags team that has made a habit of bullying just about everybody. They meet up with look I'm not saying that the chiefs just transformed into a unit with Derrick Thomas coming off one edge in Willie Lanier, but Buchanan and Bobby Bill. Lighting suck up. But they don't have to be right. They just need to be dangerous. They just need to be disruptive. They just need to give Patty big gun and that crew of homerun hitters a chance to get a breather. Maybe a couple Gatorade. And then back to running in that track meet because if that if that can at least hold its own these chiefs are legitimate threat. If that plays the way it did yesterday. They might be the best team in the NFL and yesterday, they did a whole hell of a lot more than hold their own Mahomes had two picks not dis. And it wasn't even a thing to picks not dis. And they still bludgeoned a good Jack's team again. Let's not get this twisted. I'm not saying crown there in early October. I've seen these guys start fast and finished badly. But there's something different about this crew. I think when the chiefs with the last team in the NFL undefeated, and then a month and a half later. Five hundred in abouts, go one and done in the wildcard round I've seen that. So we know that it can turn and it can turn quickly. But this year might be different based on what I saw yesterday was a much better idea next Sunday night sitting at five and heading into Foxborough the big man and his young QB get to go onto the hood in Tommy's house with something we did not know they had a legitimate defense. Maybe. How much of that was legitimate defense? And how much of that was Blake Bortles remembering he was Blake Bortles. We're gonna find out right? But if that is anywhere near how it showed up look the hell out. Here's the big question is that they're D. Or is there d- what we saw prior to that when they were near dead last in the NFL. Orion escaped Waterford tweets. Anyone ready for a Rams chiefs Super Bowl? Totting Green Bay tweets. What's even funnier? Is that hawk thinks he has the game to get mad at Alvin. "Before. Sorry. Chris Joe's really slimmed himself down a little bit. He really made mix of the fact that he felt like nobody can block him that. He was as agile as could be and make no mistake. We're going to hear about it. In terms of how he made that little move to cut to the inside and get the touchdown as well. And it really was a pretty nice move. He indeed Ford maybe changed their off-season regiment as much as anybody on the team. And you see it paying off with a question on their core. They worked on getting less body fat there, faster and more explosive d Ford actually had the pressure. They kicked us one fifteen yard penalty assessed on the kickoff in an open field. Tackler made it the thirteen and down to cover. It is Jordan Lucas, and he has been excellent on special teams in an underrated Vero as the pickup by beach late in training camp to get Lucas. Let's go to the sideline the chiefly twenty to nothing over the Jags at one forty five to go in the first hand. Well, this is something that the Jags haven't experienced for a while you guys it has the largest deficit for them since late twenty seventeen since late in the season of two thousand seventeen and they've never been shut out in the first half. Remember Kansas City has three timeouts as well. Absolutely. They can play this to try to get more Bortles left side longcrete, but the catch she's playing some off coverage. The line of scrimmage was the fourteen they get nine to the left boundary to the Twenty-three Steven Nelson able to covering but a gain of nine for the Jags who are huddling up here. They were earlier they went with some quick tempo. Now they huddle up at one thirty nine to go on the half and the chiefs get a field goal and a touchdown in a span of fifteen seconds to lead twenty to nothing over the jazz. Shotgun three wide, right. One wide to laugh Bortles over the middle and findings tight.
