"And I appreciate that. I don't take it for granted. I thank you for believing in me. Trust me, the first cruise, I had no idea what I was doing. I was terrified. What if nobody wants to go? What if this doesn't work? It did work, and here we are now about ready to do number four, the four leaf clover, a mere 5 months after the triple whammy, but hell, go hard or go home, right? I believe in all of you guys, I believe in what we've created here as the vacation of a lifetime. And that's basically it. So go to Chris Jericho crews dot com sign up for the preset link. If you haven't been trust me, it's something you want to experience. If you have been tell the people who haven't been, that this is definitely the place to be. So let's jump beyond here. And one last thing I was going to say to you, we always really work hard in giving people gifts and presence every time. So obviously we give you like I mentioned the photo, the sail away photo with fozzie and everybody gathered around, which is really cool this year because it was dark. Like I said, usually we leave at four. This year we left at 7 45. It was dark out. And then there was Chris Jericho, bobblehead, which had me dressed up kind of as a captain of the ship, which was hilarious because I'm so into all of this. I was like this bobblehead needs better detail. I want the bobble head to have different colors. So everybody in every cabin got a bobble head. And when you see them all being made at once, it's like some creepy little. Travels with a little puddle and sort of held it. And then the other one was Chris Jericho cards, deck of cards, the triple whammy logo on it. And then there's Chris Jericho triple whammy dog tags. Another day. And then Chris Jericho, triple whammy bag tags, which I didn't even get. I think I forgot those ones are lost them or something. We'll have to figure out what treats will be in store for you guys next year. But I do know it's a store. Everybody that comes is just going to be a great rock and roll party. And once again, thanks for listening. I had a great time going to going through all of my memories and if you have to ask me because I always do this on my show, what's your favorite moment of the cruise? For me, it was the sail away playing scene with fozzy as we sailed away. Quarantine was huge, just once again, this band that we put together during a pandemic, our first ever gig, if you saw us, that was the first one. So we appreciate that. I think watching Marco stunt's concert was amazing. And just singing live with Michael sweet, one of my all time heroes and now one of my best Friends. And not even doing striper songs. We did Panama with Rubik's Cube with Steve Brown on guitar, DJ Farley and Joey casada, all of them, talk as Jericho alumni. And it was just a really, really, really great time. So looking forward to the next one, we'll see you guys soon Chris Jericho cruise dot com and hopefully we'll rock together. March 14th to the 18th. Miami Jana, on the Norwegian pearl, four leaf clover. We'll see you then. Oh yeah. Eric Bischoff's NWO beat Monday.

"So we did that. And then of course, like I mentioned dynamite was on the Saturday, so Tony was awesome, Tony Kahn was awesome to, you know, you could definitely use orange Cassidy and Britt baker and we'll work around them because you know if you notice our show and some people bag on us from it on dynamite, sometimes we have 40 50 60 talents on there. So if you want to, if he's going to let some people work on my cruise, we kind of have to figure out what's going to be going on that week and what can we do as far as maybe doing pre taped interviews, et cetera? I know Britt had some pre tape interviews on there. I had done rampage, which aired when we were on the boat. So we tried to just put together the best lineup we could. And the first thing I saw as soon as orange was ready, 'cause I always tried to do something kind of special for my match on the cruise. I only wrestle once because I have so many things to do and I'll read the multi upcoming. But first year, of course, was the box of Jericho. That was the Young Bucks and Chris Jericho versus Cody, Marty stele and Daniel omega. Year two was myself, the inner circle myself and Santana Ortiz versus jungle boy luchasaurus or Marco stunt. That was, I believe the main event for the show that week on dynamite and then of course this year we did orange Jericho, which is I thought that would a perfect combination of Chris Jericho orange Cassidy, something that you won't see anywhere else but on the boat and originally it was going to be against spears and wardlow. And then I was like, or it could be against Hobbs and Ricky Starks, kind of a team task type thing. So Tony said, let's do it with Hobbs and starts because pretty much guaranteed they'll be on the boat. Other guys I'm still working around storylines and that sort of thing too. So and you know, being on the cruise and having me on board and having a match, it's always kind of cool for me. That's what I want to do something different. And that's also if you guys remember last year on the second wave is when we first had the first singing of Judas. And it is still one of the coolest moments of my life where we came to the ring for our match and this was actually on dynamite. And people were singing Judas. Super loud. And I'll never forget that feeling of walking down the aisle way of a big ramp that we have a big stage set now, which we didn't have the first year. Walking down the ramp play on the cruise that I created that bears my name for the wrestling company that I helped get on the map and help create, especially at the time. I think I was the champion, too, as well. That's right. I was the world champion. And number three to the ring song that I sang and helped create as well. So it was no pun intended triple whammy of the wrestling company that cruise ship and the song all directly related to me and having everybody sing that as one of the biggest moments of my career and the fact has become kind of part of the show and I was like, I was not in St. Louis this past week and there's people who were angry at me because they wanted to sing Judas, you know? So, then we just started putting together this awesome roster for AW and like I said, who can I use? Well, obviously this is the one year that Kenny and the Young Bucks hangman page those guys have been in the first two. And they weren't on this one. And some people were like, why is Kenny and where's the box? My thing is, we don't want the same guys every year. And in year one, also for Ring of Honor, Kenny and the bucks and those guys were not as big stars as they are now. You know, just like last year, Britt baker, she became a star on the Jericho cruise. MJF don't really knew much about him. Sammy Guevara, same thing. So every year as it progresses, I'm sure next year will Hobbs or Ricky Starks will be main eventing. And orange Cassidy will be in more of the main event. So we take the people that we can use. And we help them become even bigger. And obviously, orange and Britt were huge on this cruise, but so many people just stood up, Peter Avalon was awesome. You know, we had the wingman on and we'll talk a little bit more about them. Chaos project always does a good job. Anna Jay, Chris statlander, Wheeler, you to Chuck Taylor. I mean, you get these guys Isaiah Cassidy. You get these guys that don't have a lot of house show experience. And that's basically what the cruise is. It's like a four day house show loop, which in WWE is something that we would just do every single week. No big deal. If you've got to keep in mind, in AW, we're just working every Wednesday. That's it. So to do shows that are non televised, even though we did tape them, and I'll talk about that in a second. It just gives everybody a chance to have some fun. We had I think sunny kiss. And maybe Isaiah, I can't remember, did a dance contest, which was great during the match. I think Frankie challenged she's a benoni to a drinking contest and sees a drank a whole bottle of vodka and then couldn't get up off the mat, which was hilarious. Just stuff that you won't see anywhere else. And that's what people I think really enjoy about the Jericho cruise. It's a little bit more laid back. And you're just having fun. It's all about having fun. So the crew that we had was a great collection of guys and girls who really embraced that and understood what it was that we were doing. And that to me was the reason why another one of the reasons why number three, the triple whammy could be the best one out of all of them that we've had. And then joining and I made a deal that will advertise all these guys and it was about 36 talents from AW and just shows how great our roster is due because this is guys that weren't even on dynamite that were still huge names and on top of that, dynamite EW even added a dark taping at Universal Studios that weekend. I remember I called Chris Harrington, who's one of the guys behind the scenes. Are you trying to give me a heart attack? You're not only do I have to put together a roster. That is on, you know, not going to be on dynamite. And now you're doing dark as well and he's like, dude, our roster is so deep that we can handle this. And you think about a dynamite was great that week, the cruise matches were great that week. And the dark matches were great that week just to show how much we have going for us. Getting down to the last week, all the names that we had advertised them, like I mentioned, there was a 30 odd of them. The only ones we had to replace at the end were wardlow and spears and Lance archer. That was it, because don't even need them for the limiter tournament and ward low in spears were involved with the MJF story. And we got Brian cage, Isaiah Cassidy and helico in return, which to me, that's great. And those guys did a great job and just really had just this amazing crew all the way across the board. And some people like The Rock and roll express.

"So I wanted to talk to you about Chris Jericho's rock and wrestling razor at C part three the triple whammy. Kind of all the trials and tribulations we went through to get it up and running. And it's so crazy because it's been such a long time in between the Jericho cruise number two, which was, of course, the second wave. And then the triple whammy. And it took such a long time to get the triple whammy up and running at certain points we were debating canceling it and obviously got moved and postponed a couple times and all that sort of thing. So let's go back to January 24th, 2020. We just finished the Jericho cruise, like I said, the second wave. Very, very successful. Legit sold it out, came close to selling it out actually. The first Jericho cruise, The Rock and WrestleMania at sea. Did not sell out. And what we did because it wasn't selling as well as we wanted it to do as we gave everybody cabin upgrades and got all these certain things. You never really know what you're doing when you first start putting together a business. And we learned very quickly when all kind of the receipts came in from Jericho Cruz one that was a huge success as far as from a critic standpoint from a fan standpoint. Everybody just had a blast, and had a great time. And it was the first time we had ever really seen something like this. And if you want to go back even further, what's the origin of the Jericho cruise? Well, that was fozzy played the kiss cruise back in 2015. And the moment we came on shore, I called Mark Willis, who is my partner on the cruise. He's fozzy's manager. The only manager we've ever had. And I said, I have an idea of what I want to do next. I have an idea for this cruise, and we can do bands, but we want to do matches in the middle of the sea kind of a rock and resting razor thing. So it took us three years to convince 6th man who is kind of the promoter of the cruise, Norwegian cruise line is there ships and 6 band is kind of the promoter. And 6 man is based out of Atlanta, which is where Mark is based on. So you actually knew the right people to talk to. And with many years of conversations and thoughts and ideas and how do we do this and how do we do that? We finally got the Jericho cruise up and running. Kind of just recapping everything. And then so who was I going to use for wrestling? Why didn't you want to have the book independent guys and do it all myself? So I thought it would be smart to work with a company. We took it to NXT. They listened to my proposal, took them about a month to get back to me and gave me a 45 minute call just to basically say we passed. I was like, could have said that in 45 seconds. Never mind 45 minutes. But anyways, we ended up going with Ring of Honor and the original Jericho Cruz was born. A huge success of a critic standpoint, a huge failure from a financial standpoint. I lost a lot of money. 6 figures. But you know, you're building a business, right? And anytime you build something, you've got to be prepared to spend money to make money. And that's exactly what we did, and we lost a lot of money. I lost a lot of money and Mark didn't make anything because, you know, he's my partner. And we put hours and hours and hours and hours of work into it and you know, I did something that I never said I was going to do, which was become a promoter. Which is essentially what I am, but Jerry grew, because I'm in charge of booking all the talent and then paying the talent, especially in that first cruise. I had to pay all the talent as well. So it's not easy because everybody wants to get a great payoff. And I also want everyone to get a great payoff as well, but I'm also going within the confines of what my budget is. So things I never really thought about when I was putting together the cruise was budgets and deadlines and all that sort of thing. So basically what I did was for the second cruise, we reconfigure the deal, kind of took it more along the lines of what's very successful cruises that 6 man has, like the kiss cruise and the Kid Rock cruise, and I said, we need to put it together more like how they have it done. 6 men agreed. And so for part two, we came close to selling it out. But the financial deal was reconfigured to where I recoup my loss and then made some money on top of that. So it was very successful and you could tell that because obviously we did dynamite from the cruise and that really exposed people to exactly what it is that we're doing, just the look of it is different from anything else. And we had done a pay per view for the first rock in wrestling ranger at sea. But this was completely different because obviously you're doing it on network television. I remember at the time, Tony Khan was like, I will never do another tape show again, 'cause we were taping the show because of the way it was in the cruise. Little did we know that right around the corner there would be a pandemic where we've done oodles and noodles and rules of tape shows now. But at the time, that was AW's first taped show. And they actually had to take those tapes and put it on a plane. I think Tony actually had to fly the tapes back to Atlanta, Jacksonville, just to make sure they wouldn't get lost of this show that we did. And obviously, like I said, that was a big success and really got the word around visually, word of mouth was through the roof of people just talking about how excited they were about the crews how much fun it was. Because the one thing I learned from the kiss crews is there was so many activities to do. And I wanted to take that and go even further between the bands. Obviously, the wrestling have a lot of legendary wrestlers to do kind of signings and that sort of thing, comedians, of course, paranormal shows, basically wanted to put what talk is Jericho is and put it on the ship of just anything that I'm interested in anything that I like. Let me put it on this ship and see how it goes. So real success, like I said, and when we put the tickets on sale for cruise number three, which we were calling the triple whammy and I took that from the daily Roth song. It showtime where he's just singing about experiences in Hollywood, et cetera. And one of the lines is Oscar Grammy, triple whammy gut, that's a take. So that's why I got that from triple whammy. I love that..

"The WSB radio shows. Bingo. That's a real cool thing that Conrad was cold. My friend Dennis Brant there in Dallas. And it's really a fun, you're the feedback from that. People go back in time. Those shows are all live live. Don't worry. There's no scripts, and I had some of the biggest stars in wrestling as my guests on the Sunday nights on a.m. 7 50 WSB. Check it out. We have lots going on over there, Jan, and I get together, do bonus shows, watch along old matches, we mentioned mid south. We're going to do more of that together. And it's just the place to be. It's a great community, JR jumps on does some zooms, answers. I don't want to wait for a matter of fact. That's right. I saw you on the calendar the 19th, right? Yeah. Friday the 19th, you're going to be on doing a Q&A with 8 o'clock. I think we're doing at 8 o'clock 8 eastern 80s. It's how I understand it from who got a hold of me. Was it Lauren, maybe? Lauren. Yeah. Lauren yaffe. Yeah, she's going to be. Lauren only has one suit of clothes. They're all they're all gimmick heavy. They're all yeah. I got knocking that, by the way. Speaking of knocking, yeah, there's some knocking going on there. I know that she has she's hot for Eric and Tony. Loves love surfs American Bischoff, and she's hot for Tony. She likes guys that are 55 and over. I'm not a nut group. I don't think she likes 55 or over. She's our eyes on other dudes. She's a happy married woman. Yeah, but I saw that work. You know what? I don't know JR, but I know they all there's a long line. It's like the devil counter over there. So just pull your number. Anyway, we're having fun now. I'm gonna get in trouble. But it's all good. She'll host it with JR, and it's a blast. Listen, that's the community over there. We have a great time. We're all Friends, and it's a great community to be a part of. Indeed it is, and we appreciate everybody's business. Their support. And of course, Conrad, we've back next week and you better be right. I've had enough of this guy this week. You did a great job, as always, you're prepared and you listen. That's one of the great marks of a good broadcaster. So you have a ability to listen. And then translate what you hear into a story that has continuity. Well, thank you. So you did a good job. And I appreciate your effort. And so Conrad call me late in the day and said, you know, I got a double book myself. And I said, well, how about Paul? Get him in there. Bring him out of the pan. I love it. I appreciate you being so cool with that because listen, Conrad's the man. And I'm just here to help him. It's always been my mantra, but I love working with you JR. And I appreciate you doing this today. But man, that's going to wrap us up for this week. Check out JR. Go to JR's BBQ dot com. Get you some salsas. Get you some seasonings. We love and support you here at the show. He's Jim Ross, the voice of wrestling, I'm Paul bromwell. We'll see again next week right here on grilling JR. Eric Bischoff's NWO beat Monday Night Raw at 83 consecutive times. Eric Bischoff and Conrad Thompson tell all about it on 83 weeks. EW is at the point now where people want them to succeed. WWE is still delivering twice the audience. I just would hope that Tony embraces the role of being an underdog. He's doing a lot of things right. But when he comes out, it says he's stupid things. He's coming off like a dirt sheet writer. 83 weeks, listen, wherever you get your podcasts..

"Matches, you know, and I don't, I don't buy it all that shit. It's just too negative and unnecessary. But I can't see how Chris Jericho left the arena that night, not feeling good about himself. Was it finished? What he would like to do perfect world? No. It was too convoluted. Too many people in the scene. Too many people cast in the scene even walk ons. You know, but how you control over that? You're absolutely right looking back on it. It's a monumental moment in wrestling. He brings it up. Even a lot now, an AW. He won both championships undisputed champion. And this is the beginning, I think. And would you agree of the legend of Chris Jericho in your mind? Absolutely. Yeah, of course. Yeah, absolutely. Whether he liked it or not or I liked it or you liked it or Meltzer's readers like it or whomever. It doesn't matter. That's right. You still got the results that he was looking for as far as leaving as his undisputed champion. And nobody in wrestling history could go back and say, I was first. No, you aren't. There's one guy was first. Chris Jericho. And to me, that's a career win. That's a career win. And I think it just kept launching him to more great things. And we're seeing it now. He is 50 something hundred, 51. If he won this week, yes, sir. So I guess I got a bad gift. I'll give you some sauce. There you go. Seasoning and sauce. Yeah. He likes it. So as a matter of fact, I appreciate that. But in any event, he has nothing left to prove. He's into AW because he's still loves what he does. He loves helping people make it a better. You think Santana and Ortiz haven't learned Chris Jericho and Jake Hager? That's right. You know, just Sami Guevara, you can tell he's under his wing. Oh my God. Look, Sammy's in a great spot. Sammy's been book very well. Slow, but sure wins the race. So I'm a big big believer of that. But yeah. He's still he's still in toughest game. He's many people. Yeah, go ahead. Well, I'm just going to say that if that match on Saturday night in Minneapolis full gear, delivers like I think it will. I think it's going to pleasantly surprise a lot of people because any pay per view management level matches as Dan leverage crew been in. None, none. And how long has it been since we saw America's team on a hot streak and win a bunch of matches and Bill momentum? Never. So all that is under the orchestration of Chris Jericho. That's why I think the Saturday night's match will be much better than people perceive it might be especially considering the lack of experience of so many participants in that big tag team matchup. It should be really interesting. JR we are closing up 2001 Jericho closes 2001 in the rocks hometown of Miami by defending his title and a three way against The Rock and Kurt Angle he gets the win. After angle, as DDT and rock on a chair, a DDT rock on the chair gets the win. And that wraps up 2001. We hope you enjoyed 2001 20 years ago. He was 31 years old. This week he's now 51 happy birthday to you Chris Jericho. We hope you're gonna enjoy this story of 2001. What a career undisputed champion. I've enjoyed working Chrissy all these years. I'm always going to be proud that hiring. And I just think he's an amazing asset to our whole business. You know, him going over and working in new Japan was groundbreaking. As a free agent as an individual, putting all that together with Kinney and so forth. Absolutely amazing. It's funny that the Japanese office, the new Japan office didn't have any problem been shiroku and a key spot when he had not been in a key spot for quite some time. So he's a winner and I know the AW we're still building. We're still growing and we all know we had to break our very, very best on Saturday night. Everybody doing whatever child your cameraman, you're an audio guy, you're an announcer, your wrestler, whatever it may be. The referees, all that stuff. But this is extremely important show for us. And in a start Wednesday live Friday, rampage live. So it's going to be cool. Well, JR, we have 6 fan questions and then we'll close it down talking about some sauces and spices, so here we can seasoning. So here we go. 6 real quick will go rapid fire. Michael mcclanahan says JR, he's our buddy, ad free shows. Do you believe it was a good idea to crown Jericho as the undisputed champion during vengeance 2001? It seems like another alternative would have been to hold off Jericho's title win until next year's WrestleMania in Toronto. I had no problem with it. Struck Lee irons hot. We knew rock was tentative because there's a movie career. So we roll with it. And no, I don't have a problem with it. It would have been a good at WrestleMania course would have been good at WrestleMania. But was it a bad way it was? I don't think so. All right. Thank you, money, Mike for that one. Lindsay's up next, our friend Lindsey, she says, do you know the story of Jericho's night after winning the title? Why was he not giving notice to have his family there or be able to celebrate properly? I don't know that he won't have there. Lindsay know that Chris has turned down to have his family.

"It's the big finish from the observer Chris Jericho, one, what was once the WCW title pinning The Rock in 19 minutes, 5 seconds earlier in the show, they both had both Jericho and angle confront Ric Flair, noting that flair had never been undisputed world champion. They pushed flare as a 16 time champion and that's a very conservative estimate. Rock did a rock bottom, but couldn't follow up. Vince came out and distracted the rough missing the pinfall, rock punch Vince and had his spine buster on Jericho. He set up the people's elbow again, but before delivering it through Vince in the ring, he hit the elbow, but again no ref in the confusion, Jericho had a low blow and pin rock with his own rock bottom finisher, Meltzer gave it four stars and then on that same evening. Jericho won the WWF title from Austin to combine both belts. That match took 12 minutes 33 seconds, angle immediately hit Austin with a chair shot and rock gave Jericho a rock bottom just before the bell ring. The start the match, rough bump by Earl Hebner, Jericho did a low blow and mistime stunners, Austin went down late. Vince again comes out with Nick Patrick, but before he could make account flare comes out and decks Patrick Vince punch flare and posted him, taking him out, Austin use a low blow and a Boston crab, Jericho is Tapping like crazy, but again, no rough. Booker T runs out of the crowd hits Austin with one of the belts while Vince throws Hebner into the ring to make the count, and it was the finished live from what Meltzer said here was flat, but it got three and a quarter stars. And man, that would be it. We would have our first undisputed world heavyweight champion. The ultimate irony is that Vince kept shitting on Jericho, telling him that he was the shit, and here we are, the first time that WCW and WWF titles are unified and it's Vince McMahon, holding the belt up with Jericho on the ramp. Very unique way of motivating somebody. Very, very unique way of. Motivation. Tough love, if you will. And eventually got to manipulate Chris, get under scan and Chris is going to return in kind. Here's how you want Kris to do. Have the attitude. Okay, asshole. I'll show you. Right. I'll show everybody. Because I can work with the two top guys in the world and home my own and have good matches. And he did. He did. So Westminster I called, man, I thought. And that was his way to get in the head in a positive way as crazy as it may sound. With Jericho. It motivated him. He had to keep proving himself. And he did. You're thoughts on having Vince and Booker and all these guys running in and all that. Not my cup of tea. Yeah. Not my cup and not my drink of choice. I'd like the wild west feel, but only when it's used sparingly because then it'll be more effective. I thought, you know, out of the heat on vents. Because that was a proven deal. You know, McMahon is a heel. Missing man was the greatest heel in the attitude air appearing in my view. Or that with anybody. And the guy he gave the rug to is numerous. But I thought he got a little bit convoluted. Along the way, they're going to use that opportunity Paul to give rubs to others, like Booker T for example. I got no problem with Booker T get in a rub, but I don't think it was I think that might have been the wrong place. This didn't feel right. It felt too convoluted and a little bit forced. Advance is Stephanie out there and all the stuff she went through and you know, in advance making doing what he did as a villain. It would have been enough. For me. JR you said from day one that Jericho would some day be the man, was this his crowning or was it just right time right place for him in his turn? Well, I think it was just coordination. Okay. I think that he finally achieves the goals. How many guys in that locker room Paul do you think would like to have that finish and then opportunity? That's right. So this found respect for Jericho, very late in the game. But on that night, Jericho's greatness was underscored. He beat two of the most famous individuals in the history of pro wrestling in the same ring on the same night, and that's pretty damn heavy. As we wrap this one up, let's hear what the man himself has to say, Chris Jericho, right from his book. He said the body of the match was hard hitting in solid, but the finish was a train wreck. As you said, JR, not my cup of tea. It made about as much sense as an episode of lost and boasted a promise as large a cast. Ric Flair, Vince McMahon and Booker T joined rock and angle and running in. Each one making my wind look more like a fluke, which was the last thing I needed. I needed all the booking help I could get to be a credible champion since my name value and status was far below the other three guys. Instead, I beat The Rock using his own finish after interference and then beat Austin by hitting him with the title after John and Kate plus 8 ran into assist me. I love him. Oh, that's fantastic. But the fans were nonchalant and didn't buy it. Even as Vince raised my hand and a blizzard of confetti and streamers drifted around all of us, it was the biggest moment of my career and the San Diego crowd was a silent as a fart and church, or however that saying goes. Oh, you got to love the just the rawness of Chris Jericho. But he got there. Yeah. Was it an artistic masterpiece? No. But the him winning two major huge stupidest matches one night. He still brings it up. Yeah, I think some people, some fans, the die hards have a propensity to over evaluate over analyze..

"That's not unusual for Austin had complete access to Vince. Anytime he wanted it, so what we're going to do, I love to get this match in my head. And Vince told me what he'd like to do and at that time he was measuring Steve, Steve has shown any pushback, the match would not go down that way. But he didn't. Steve Locke working with Austin. Excuse me, Steve, black working with the Chris, Chris Jericho, yeah. So, you know, here's another fun little tidbit. Jericho tells the story that Vince confirms this the morning of the pay per view and Jericho walks up to the undertaker and Vince says, you can tell that the business is going down the toilet when we're going to make Jericho the champion. Why do you think Vincenzo playing cat and mouse with Chris compared to a lot of other talents over the years? He just loved he just got to it. Yeah. Chris sold it to vividly. And when she just sees you selling, that's one of my mistakes over the years. He knew I wore my feelings in my sleeve and he looked at that as weakness and he and he took advantage of my passion and some of those areas. And to his credit, I didn't need to overreact as much as I did. I didn't want to be a participant. You know, I didn't want to get beat up on TV every few months. I didn't want to get juice for guys every three months. I didn't want to be embarrassed, humiliated by the talents. I didn't think it was the right thing to do. I think I needed to be in that spot. Give that time to somebody that's going to be in the ring and draw you some money. It's not going to be in the ring and drawing any money. Even though we did pretty good, what killed me and that deal was very simply that technology. The frigging minute by minutes. If my little pieces of business in the ring were. Not getting any ratings, I wouldn't have been on television. And the reason I saw television so much is because it's like watching Daytona. They're not watching he's going to win the damn race. I just think he's going to crash. He knew I was going to crash, but how is this going to be orchestrated? So that's kind of where I think about that. But that's just being Vince. He's Henry. That's why he had such a good relationship with Jericho at times. And that's why tolerated Sean Michaels bullshit at times. And over all those years, you know, misses Sean had worked through a lot of stuff, I'm glad for that. And Sean still working there. I'm glad for that. Absolutely. Hey, I'm so excited to tell you, I slept 9 and a half hours last night. It's early in the morning when we're recording right now,.

"And do you remember he was apparently, I guess obviously had to be good, putting Jericho over and a feedback in the back or anything about that? Well, no. Jericho had his detractors and credit professional jealousy. But by and large to the general populace, Chris was a very popular guy. Cause a talents all knew that they were book within they're going to have a good match. Including Dorian Johnson. Dwayne Johnson did not have to put Chris over. That could have worked out something else. Like rock beaton Jericho and then we want something else. But that's not what the company wanted in raucous certainly accommodating and was willing to play team ball. And he did and it worked out great. Well, after this match, JR, Jericho writes in his book that he, as he does an interview with WWF dot com and says this, I'd like to tell Eric Bischoff the fuck off and you can print that. It wasn't the classiest statements, but I felt such vindication. And I would still angry at Bischoff as I'd heard after I left WCW that he had told people that Vince wouldn't know what to do with me, and I would be a colossal failure in the WWE. Now that I was wearing Bischoff's own title and Vince's company, I wanted to shove it right down his throat. But instead of telling Erik to fuck off, I should have thanked him. After all, if he hadn't let me leave WCW, I never would have ended up as WCW champion. Is this is this a lack of maturity thing or does this bother you? What are your thoughts on this out of Jericho here? Here we had a lot of pent up. You know, issues. He needed to, and we're hearing that more in today's world about people getting things off their chest, expressing themselves, don't hold it in, all those things, right? Yes, sir. And for your own mental health, I think he felt at that point in time. He had a case to make and he was going to make it. And unfortunately, Eric got the stick on that deal. And you know, I enjoy Eric does a great job here with 83 weeks of Conrad. And Eric and our good friends and we weren't always, I'm sure if you ask Chris Jericho today, are you there, Bischoff? It's hard to hear. But at that point in time, he looked back at that situation and where he perceived that Bischoff was not going to give him the opportunity to be great and be a top star in replace a hall in Nash or Hogan or whomever, you know he's just not going to it's not going to he had an opportunity to express himself in a little bit. I think that's all that was. It was good for his mental health as they say in the moment. There you go. Yeah. Without a doubt. Rock and Jericho have a rematch a couple weeks later on raw, where rock regains the WC type W title back from him, but there's an incident where they run out of time and Jericho rushes the chair shot on The Rock that really hurts him. Vince is pissed and gets into it with Chris Jericho in the back. Was Chris prone to kind of shooting himself in the foot, I mean, you see the Bischoff comments, then this is just this poor timing. What are your thoughts on this holding? Well, he's feisty. Yeah. Spirited is very competitive. That's his personality. And so as a Booker, our administrator, you look at and clearly define the strengths and weaknesses of this individual, not just in the ring, but is middle approach and that's Chris is being Chris. So yeah, I think that I think that that was one of the aspects that Vince always would bring up the jerks as challenging to deal with. And he wasn't with me, but here's the thing. Vince allowed Jericho into the Vince's office. He allowed the conversation to develop. The only advice ever gave anybody talking to Vance has never confronted him? Converse with him. Simple. Obama got all convulsed confronted by, okay, okay, John Wayne. Take it easy. A stupid don't be stupid. Because we don't need any stupid people anymore, it's already here developing more stupidity. But that was where I saw that situation. This and chirico, but you got to look at this. He gave Chris that platform to express himself. And I don't know if they all they said in their meetings because I made sure I stayed away from them. I didn't want to be a party to that stuff. I didn't need to be a part of this to, because I am not going to take the talent that I hired are the men's paid me. So I was just remove yourself in that scenario and because you know both of them are going to follow up with you with what you are expected to do next. That's right. Well, JR, we made it to the fall. It's Survivor Series time. The invasion is put out of its misery when team WWF defeats the alliance and kills off the WCW ECW. Jericho is part of the match teaming with rock taker king and big show to defeat Austin angle Booker RVD and Shane to vanquish them. Well, not so fast. Shows that the faith, Vince had in the alliance when 60% of the roster is from the WWF. So now you have two separate titles. All right, here we go. We have the WCW title and the WWF title. And it's decided to merge them and create the undisputed title and it's to be determined at Armageddon. In your mind, was there any chance at this point that Jericho was a player for this title? No, but knowing Vince and how he likes the spring surprises and thoroughly breaking pitch when he thinks that you think it might be the heat of Ricky. You know, no, I think the man had enough confidence in Jericho plus the fact that the talents in the involved in the match had confidence at Chris. And they would go to Vince and say, hey, I don't have a problem with Jericho. He's a hell of a worker. But me with it. So that's kind of where I think that how that worked out. But there's just no way inhale some good forecast. Oh yeah, Jericho's going to leave here with a title. Well, here we go, let's paint the picture. Let's set this scene. We have Steve Austin as your WWF champion. We have The Rock as your WCW champion. It's determined that a tournament will be held to crown the champion and Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho are the other two competitors decided for it. Let's use a hypothetical here. If Triple H is healthy and not injured, is there any chance Chris Jericho has the year he is? Let alone to be put in a position to win this tournament. Well, there's a chance, Paul, but not as big a chance to hunt if hunter had been healthy. Because he probably was the obvious choice. Let's not downplay causing married the boss's daughter and he's a controversial figure and all that.

"No net, it's fun. Wing it say some stuff. Sometimes that happens. Yeah. Especially with me, especially nowadays. Because I got a free, I got a free tab with type in what the hell I want. I love it. Because Tony, trust my judgment. And he trust my partners to respond to my craziness at times. In kind. So yeah, it was a smart ass remark. I saw a novell validity. This match feels like it was the star making deal that Jericho needed at this point. Am I right? Absolutely. Yeah. Beat The Rock without my goodness. That's a big deal. And that for Chris is confidence that gave him validation that I've made it to large degree. And what else can he do? To get more over. So he deserved it. And what I suggest you to him along the way, be patient, keep putting out the best work you can, even though some of the bookings could be the shits. That's not your call. It's not your call. And you may be right, but it's an argument. You can't win. You can only be a shit disturber proceed if. Necessary. And there's no reason to be that way. But that was that made him big that made Jericho on the map and I think it was I think a lot of people thought that there's no way the rocks went and lose the title of Chris Jericho. All right, so here JR said all.

"Playing Raphael thing. Yeah. He's made man. And you can slide on some things. And that's what I kind of say about Iraq. He could do no wrong. Yeah. It was a slip. It wasn't scripted. But that was one of the beautiful things about his work, Rox work and a lot of the guys, when they got to a certain point and autonomy and success and had Vince's ultimate confidence, you could stood your toe a little bit, still get by with it. I think even we as fans are probably a little bit more forgiving for someone like The Rock versus if it was somebody else too. It's sad to say that, but that's the reality of how people are and think. It was The Rock. He's okay. It's not okay. I know, but he's still The Rock. That's how we justify it. And he made a boo boo. Boo boo. That's all. Mistake. What you want to do? This happened. That's right. What is it decided that Jericho would turn heel on The Rock by the way? I don't know when it was decided because of smart move. You know what? You don't need a babyface match involving The Rock. Rocks formulaic way of working is system is a crowd psychology to me all work better when he became a hot baby face. And he was quite hot for a long time. So you don't and quite honestly, Jericho's not the guy you want to protect in that situation. You're going to protect The Rock. Right. He's paying a lot of bills. And again, he's a made man. So I don't think that that was a, you know, it's all I read the notes, I forgot about that being said, to be honest with you. Yeah, well Jericho would turn turns on The Rock at the end of the tag match and Jericho documents this in his book. And he says, a week into the program, agent Jerry Briscoe, who had accompanied Jim Ross when he came to Tampa to recruit me several years earlier, took me into a corner of the arena to have a private conversation. And Jerry said the Chris Jericho, you've got to really step it up, Chris, because there are people on the inside that want to see you fail. True. They don't believe in you, they're bearing you behind your back and telling everyone that you're the shits. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Wow, how come Jericho is constantly dealing with this in your mind? I mean, he's up against Paul. He's not. He doesn't go quietly until the night. He's got a great mind. He's intelligent. He points out he's a faux pas that nobody wants to hear. And he's not and he's unrelenting. And sometimes, you know, like I said, he was not, he was not a popular hire. He was with me. He was with the box office. He was with the bottom line with their talus there that knew that if he was on his game, we got to get off our ass to keep our spot, keep our place in the pecking order. Because he's going to bring his and what he's got is really good. Well, he really ramps it up as a heel with his promos and a culminates at no mercy where he goes one on one with the great one for the WCW title. That's right, rock is the WCW champion and all those years removed from being told he's not a top guy in WCW. He defeats the biggest star in the industry to win the WCW title. This is from the observer. Chris Jericho, when the WCW title from The Rock in 23 minutes 44 seconds, the crowd was electric before they even locked up, almost like rock Austin for mania. They needed to bottle this crowd and take them out on tour. Jim Ross brought up some of the great title events in St. Louis history and they were throwing out names like Kandinsky and Briscoe and flair. For some reason Jim Ross brought up the black scorpion. Flair was black scorpion at the 1990s star gate and St. Louis, which somehow I didn't think quite fit into that category. Heyman said the WCW title dates back farther than any title in the sport. Rock used a rock bottom through the Spanish announcers table. Jericho blocked The Rock bottom in the ring, but was hit with a spine buster. Rock set up the people's elbow, but Jericho blocked it and put on the walls. Rock nearly got to the ropes, but Jericho pulled him in, crowd was ready to explode for a clean finish, but then wasn't the story. That wasn't the story for today. Stephanie shows up, throws a chair in the ring, Jericho knocked her off the apron, rock hits a DDT, then throws Stephanie in the ring and gave her a rock bottom. Jericho gave rock a reverse Russian leg sweep, face first on the chair for the pin. After the match, rock grabbed the chair, but instead of hitting Jericho with it, handed it to him, this one got four and a half stars and I gotta ask JR, was the black scorpion reference a rib on WCW? Well, it was a little smart ASTRO marked by me. I had no validity. You know, when you're sitting out there doing a lot of television and.

"That's wrestling, rewritten, available now at Amazon. The good news for Chris Jericho is the story for him didn't stop in June of 2001. We go on, and this is it continues on for him. Part, one of the bigger moments in the invasion, it's Chris Jericho and Kane, they're teaming up against Mike awesome and Lance storm and they're part of the WCW faction. One here comes a crowd into the ring, you got Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer. They attack him and it's in Atlanta. You have rhino taz, just incredible the Dudley's Raven come out to make the save. It's a huge moment. And my goodness, they take out Jericho and Cain, of course, by the end of the night, the alliance is formed when Stephanie announces she's the owner of ECW and they merge with WCW and what in the figurative fuck is going on JR? This is when it all hell broke loose. We all just all out there to study. You can figure it out. Hindsight, you're a better man than me. The idea in principle was good. Resurrecting a brand and trying to get traction back. It was good. I think. I thought, the same thing on the WCW alliance deal. WCW involved was not a bad concept. But it's much like the draft, the WWE draft, I'm not a big fan of the draft. Because I get my feelings hurt and I got moved to SmackDown when I was told the night before you were not going to break up med in summer, all you think are crazy. And I loosely enough believed I was being told the truth. Not quite. And I think that I think the ideas for good. I think the, but you can't do the thing like the draft where you have on SmackDown, but I'm going to be on raw and I won't raw, then I'm going to be on program that's going to be the SmackDown person. That shit's confusing. And if you don't live it, like most fans don't live that. Right. It's just doesn't make any sense. So I'm a big believer that they're draft and all that stuff would be better if they keep they build two brands. And don't have so much intermingling. Does it make sense? Yeah, what's the point of a giraffe that we're just going to do? So anyway, I liked it, but the ECW jolt added a lot of energy to what we were doing. And I think it motivated the talents too because ECW was either you loved him or hated him. I signed all those dudes. I always liked him. But a lot of the talent in the locker room, the WWE did not like him because they proved to be competition. That means you got to get off your ass work a little harder to keep your spot. And so, you know, that was kind of where we were with that deal, but in principle, the ECW stuff and the WCW stuff, I thought was both very good. And by the way, if done correctly, this is something that's not really talked about a lot. Listen to this at the invasion pay per view, team WWF would take on Booker T rhino diamond else page and deadly boys. In the main event of the highest grossing non WrestleMania pay per view in WWE history. As much as the storyline is maligned as it should be, that in and of itself should show how much money there would have been on the table Jim if this was done correctly. Am I right? Yeah, politics. Politics. ECW is looked down upon as a second rate deal. Yeah, and I mean, Jericho stated that he made more money for that show than any other non WrestleMania show. Is that all directly correlated the pay per view revenue, JR? Yeah, hell yeah. Of course it was. They wouldn't have pulled up many of our assets in that because you're a nice guy. If you did, that'd be amazing. Okay, yeah. You're gonna happen. Everybody earned their money on that. I would tell you, Paul, if the guys would be honest, many of the talents on that show made more money on that pay per view than they had ever made in their career. And maybe it never again. That number again. So that passion. It had emotion. Yeah, great storytellers. You guys, you know, like I said, the Dudley's tazz, bully ray, and Devon. Yeah. All those guys are passionate. And it bled through the television. So it was a pretty cool deal. It was, man, as an ECW fan, I remember the air and living outside of Philadelphia. That was a cool moment when haman gets in there, cuts the promo and it's like they're all kind of back together again. It's kind of fun to say. It fit. It made sense in the moment. So now can you have the talents to get in the ring and culminate the story? But a bone. Hell yeah, we did. And I really admired the fact that the WWF guys, Bonnie and large, they're going to be some animosity jealousies and securities. They rose to the occasion, because the ECW guys came to work. You know, you can hear on this is the best it open radio almost every day, or I listen to it live, but I listed every day at some point as a rule. And you can hear the passion above a Dudley's voice. Oh yeah. What he talks about the ECW years. And that's like me getting on a tangent talking about mit. You know, mid south was doing the shit that ECW did later. The juice and the gimmicks and the chairs and the violence. And I'm not saying that to put down or sequester the concept that ECW was a copied Mitch. I know the Heyman was a fan of the midsole. And I know that we were kind of rugged. A lot of those ECW guys were fans of mid south. Oh, sure. Oh, yeah. We're going to get back to some mid south, some AFS bonus stuff. Pretty soon here, me and you're going to watch them together again. Yeah, I liked it. Well, going into SummerSlam Jericho is programmed with rhino, which gives him a big win as he's able to renew his rivalry. And chemistry with Stephanie McMahon in the run up to the SummerSlam Jericho and rock up promos on rhino and Stephanie, and it leads to a couple classic moments. Jericho is showing off the difference between Stephanie's chest, mocking the SummerSlam theme song of let the bodies hit the floor compared to Stephanie and saying, let the boobies hit the floor. And then I think she had been enhanced. Yeah. They're in that period of time. And it was fairly buddy. I was here for you. Yeah, I'm sure you were. Yeah. I mean, come on. And then rock drops a motherfucker live on TV. What do you remember of this in the reaction backstage to it by the way? When I read this note, well, he's The Rock. I said the same thing about flared at stupid ass.

"Ad free shows. He and Austin will win the tag team titles as well. But by the way, JR, before we get to a backlash, Chris Jericho and William regal are going to compete in one of the silliest matches in WWF history, and I'm going to read the notes that Dave Meltzer wrote in the observer. William regal pins Chris Jericho and 12 minutes and 11 seconds. And what was billed as a duchess of queensberry match, complete with a matronly looking woman dressed as a duchess at ringside, playing a cross between Vince McMahon and Jacques rougeau in doing a gimmick of changing the rules as they went along. Match was fine as far as the work, but it got silly in a hurry. Jericho had regal penned after the Lion salt when the duchess signaled for the bell, claiming it was the end of the first round. Regal used the regal stretch, but Jericho made the ropes. Then when Jericho got on the walls, regal tapped, but it was announced that submissions aren't allowed under the rules. Regal then hit Jericho over the head with the duchess scepter. Yes, I said scepter, and was d-q'd. Of course it was then rolled that there's no DQ under the role and the match continued. We go finally ended up with his face in the duchess crotch and did his priceless facials, Jericho through her into the ring and put her into the walls, and regal male Jericho with three chair shots and got the pin. This is one of the most unique matches in WWF history where the gimmick is never done again. Thank you, Jesus. Is this a failure, creatively in your mind and does it hurt person regal it all? Well, yeah, it's a failure. The idea did get over. I don't know that I think I don't know the answers, myself or I'm Paul henman was there with me. Yes. I'm not sure we knew what the fuck was happening. Yeah, I don't think we knew. I don't think nobody that tells me that the rules are still being discussed, leading right up to match time. The concept. So I don't think it was obviously not good creative. Like you said the proof of putting there is been good, then there would be more of them. Right. It never occurred again. But it didn't do Chris and regal any favors, someone like they both had to individually hit the restart, but and get back and trying to build something. And to come off a stinker like that, it just takes a little time to get the stank on, maybe. Yeah, talk about the stink off, whoever ended up in the duchess crotch. So you heard it here first from junior. He is not a fan of the duchess of queensberry match. Correct. You could say that safely say that, and all honesty. Now the plan is for Jericho is that himself and Benoit were to be built up as number one contenders for the tag team titles and my goodness. It's going to be him and Jericho versus Austin and this is the breakdown here. We have the gauntlet match at Judgment Day with Benoit and Jericho against Austin and Triple H and then they split it into visual feuds with Benoit versus Triple H for the intercontinental title and Jericho versus Austin for the WWF title. Is this how you remember this all playing out? Yeah, it was fragmented booking. Yeah. Tag angle for a while, single angle for a while. You know, the thing, my saving grace to keep my sanity was the fact that I knew that no matter the combination, they're of the matches are going to be good. Right. The fan who paid their hard earned money to come watch this stuff is going to be they're going to be entertained. And I think that's I think we had at least accomplished that. Was it the most, again, the most fortuitous route to get to this destination? Not sure about that. But nonetheless, that was the road everybody was traveling. And so we all just try to make it work. You mentioned Paul Heyman earlier and talk about how he's sitting there at the broadcast. He's fresh. On the creative side, ECW has closed down. Is he a big proponent of Jericho at this point? Are you hearing him talk about Jericho and how big of a fan he is? Well, yeah. You know, I talked to Paul a lot because your partners and always sit out there in the afternoon on Mondays. Go over the show and the talent and all that stuff. I found that anybody that had a successful run in ECW. Paul Heyman was supportive of and I can understand that. And I could see no different. But also Heyman's got a great eye for talent. He's proven that time and again he's feeling it now he's making Roman Reigns one of the biggest stars in WWE's recent history. So I'm sure Paul had high hopes for all his guys. It's like I have when I see you guys, I sign that are still working. I have a soft spot in my heart for those fellows and ladies some of them most of the man. So you know, hey, it was a very Paul and I had we didn't agree on everything, obviously. And we had a lot of rivalries on the air that people thought where we hated each other. We never did. He knew how to be an antagonist. And he had to be a protagonist. I think we each of the will, we had a good.

"I'm sure that's what you have to appreciate though now, though when you think about Jericho, where he's at at 50, or a CM Punk, or a Danielson, where they come in. They're like, I want to work with this young guy. That young guy, give me him. Give me him. It's almost like, hey, we learned from what we saw. Chirico is that way now. Working with, you know, he put that inner circle group together and gave all those guys a heartbeat. You know, the folks in his group is faction. And you know, I see the same trait with CM Punk. Willing to work with anybody that he believes he can have a good match with as a teacher as a coach. So I think that's an crucial. Any promotion is not. Now, I'll see you. He's trying to do that now. They're catching their NXT shows largely a true developmental feel. And they're looking for the next big thing. But so is AW. So is everybody else. So is the NWA? So is email? All those places. They're looking for the next big thing. And you never know where you're going to find them. You never know how you're going to find them. You know, so you always can have your short list and quite frankly it's a constant search. Every day, you're looking for the next big thing. We'll move it on here JR. It's the Jericho regal feud there at WrestleMania. They face off for the intercontinental title in the opener and from the observer Chris Jericho pin William regal and 7 minutes and 8 seconds to retain intercontinental title. Match was fine in some ways while Russell by regal, although Jericho had one of those matches where he was slightly off on things, where it ended up disappointing is that it was just too short. Regal did a double armed superplex off the top, regal stretch, but Jericho made the ropes and came back with a lion salt for the pin. Crowd wasn't ready for the match to end. He gave a two stars. Time, and that's not the talents fault. And quite frankly, that match the mass time was 7 minutes and change, right? Yes. They may have thought all during the day. They had 12 minutes. Our 15 minutes. And when others come to lobby, vents for more time later on the card, you have to take it from someplace. And so everybody's a victim in that regard. JR Chris writes the same thing in his book that you said the time. The match wasn't bad, but I think it could have been so much more. My biggest problem with it was the lack of time we were given mania took place in the Houston astrodome, and the walkway to the ring was so long that by the time we got out there, we had about 7 minutes for the entire match. We did our best, but it was rushed, and we were off on certain spots, even though I won, in my mind I was owe and two in my mania performances. Later on at the after show party Vince compliment me on the match and told me how much he liked it, but I wasn't buying it. I was feeling pretty down on myself. And I knew I could do better. Was he dealing with some confidence issues, lack of push? What are you thinking at this point? Well, it kept being challenged. You got to still prove to us it could be a top guy. And maybe someday you'll attain that. And he was just dogged. He saw in himself, what he thought could be a major superstar. A WrestleMania headlining guy. And he just knew that it's going to be a rocky road. Do you remember him? Was he having any conversations with you at this point, JR or around this time frame? Yeah, it all I could do is tell him because I didn't know what the direction created direction is going to be. And that's what his issue was. So I couldn't not directly solve his issue. Well, here's what we're going to do in two months we're going to do this in a three months and do that. We're going to culminate with this. I had no idea what that was going to be because quite frankly, booking was done unlike the old WWE where you're booking long term and it was a scenario where, you know, you just got to be patient and not let your foot off the gas. So all I can do for Chris was just reassure him. Don't get out of shape on where you are. Yeah. Just make sure that every match you have is a head Turner and solid and you're given the best what he wants. And making it a little bit better than he even proceeded would be. So, yes, I think that was a scenario for me. I talked to Chris a lot. I talked to Chris now every week, which is kind of one of the fun things about being an AW. I get to interface a lot of talents, young and old. And I enjoy doing it. Give them a positive reinforcement. So basically that's what I did with him. Positive reinforcement. Don't give up on yourself..

"To get up to $800 off of MSRP. Text Ross to 8 one 8 one 8 one. Yeah, I mean, what you're saying is there's a difference between aches and pains and a major injury. Correct. You know? Yeah, we didn't hide any injuries. We would not allow that to happen. It was too bad or a piece of talent. This is not the way you treat another human being, no matter if you're in a pro wrestling business or what are sports entertainment. You don't treat a human being that way. And because they're like, wild horses, man. Sometimes the best advice somebody told me, I can't remember who it was. That, you know, these guys are like these horses of wild horses are out on the Montana. Places like that where they're still running wild and that's what they are. And they can't be managed. They can't be wrangled. So it's tough. You got to try to help them with that problem. If you can. Well, JR as we move from January into February, Eddie Guerrero returns to the WWF and hits Chris with a frog splash to what seems to begin a program, and then it smack down Jericho loses the Triple H after guro interferes. Your Intercontinental Champion isn't exactly getting a lot of wins here. Does that weaken him in your eyes? Yeah, yeah. He had a short build. And it should have been longer. I think. In hindsight, certainly. But that's how the booking went. And a lot of that booking ran through Triple H, he was yeah, he had a lot of influence and he's also very good. You know, the Eddie Jericho program, you have to ask yourself this question. Were the Eddie Jericho program have been better if the centerpiece of their angle and the heart and soul of that angle was a championship like the intercontinental title or are those guys so good that they could make a great program without it? Yeah, that's always a question. It could be debated. There's no right answer. I don't think. Either way is going to work. But there's a questionable booking in this pony 2001. There is. We'll talk about it. Yeah, I mean, well, because then next on raw, he goes on to take Eddie Guerrero on again, X pock runs an interferes as to your point, there really doesn't seem to be a program. Jericho's just kind of floating around the card at this point. So just interesting storyline. And I guess storytelling, not really happening right now for Jericho, just all over the place. Right. Well, he still believe it or not, he's still not, I got to prove myself to stage. Especially with the advance in company, you know, again, he was not. He was not their idea to hire. And he went 6 feet. So he was he still was in that building process and so he kind of just gotten that lane kept chugging and grinding away. No to get recognized as one of the top hands in the entire wrestling business. Well, without a major storyline, we are up to no way out and we're going to do a four way for the intercontinental title, and it's against it's Jericho, Benoit, X park, and Eddie Guerrero, which is like four super workers in a match, you know, just to make the card, I guess, as best as possible here. Another good match. You're just looking for a great performance. And it got all those guys booked. It got them all to pay sheet. All those things are important to them. Sometimes it's important to me as well. So they all get paid well. And like I said, I thought that match is pretty damn strong. Yeah, from the observer, Dave would say, Chris Jericho retained the intercontinental title over Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, X pocket. It went 12 minutes, 18 seconds. They tease Benoit joining forces, so of course they end up turning on each other, presumably to start a program to turn Benoit face. Lots of near falls and saves just incredible helped out Xbox and took a great bump when Benoit knocked him off the apron. Jericho got the walls on everyone and finally credible came out with X in the walls. Benoit did a dragon suplex on Jericho for a near fall, Jericho did the lion saw anger for a near fall, Xbox did an X Factor on Jericho, but Benoit broke it up. Benoit had the cross face on Xbox Guerrero broke it up. You get the gist here. It ended up with Jericho doing a rolling reverse cradle on Xbox for the win. Three and a quarter three and a half stars from Dave. Again, four super talented guys just going at it for a strong, strong match there. Just incredible though JR, it's a name I haven't heard much talked about on this podcast. This is around his debut after ECW closes. What was it about Justin that just didn't click with the WWF audience? He had a substance abuse issues. Simple as that. And was running with the wrong crowd and wrong lane. It was never anything about Justin's inability to work. He was an excellent worker. But he shot herself a feat too many times to keep running..

"And they come together to deliver one of the classic ladder matches of all time. And I want you to hear this. This is from the observer Dave Meltzer said Chris Jericho won the intercontinental title from Chris Benoit and a ladder match in 18 minutes, 44 seconds. It started with a lot of good Matt wrestling before any later involvement. Benoit later put the cross face on Jericho, who tapped like crazy, which basically guaranteed he was going over at the end. Benoit missed a diving headbutt off the top of the ladder, Jericho was climbing, Benoit was lying nearly underneath the ladder and from the ground, tipped it over and sent Jericho flying all the way over the top rope. Benoit was climbing in this time, Jericho shoved the ladder, and Benoit went over the top, and this time it gave Jericho, the chance to climb the ladder and get the belt, he gave this one four and three quarter stars. It's an insane performance, maybe one of the best. One on one ladder matches of all time, but it's been wiped from everybody's memory unfortunately because of Benoit. What did you think of the match, Jim? I think they would have had a classic match no matter the stipulations. I've often wondered how that match would have been just a clean catch as catch can physically intense match. Without the gimmicks. But it gives a boy some toys to play with. And so I'm not ridiculing it whatsoever. I've called a lot of great ladder matches, luckily for me. And, you know, with the agent Christian and the hardee's among others with those three kind of mind those routines, I think they had a classic match no matter what they did. So I was really excited about that. You're right about the Benoit. People have already been wired. I'm not spending what Kris did last few hours of his life to him and his certainly a family. So and that is on my watch, and it was hard to navigate. I was I know I went to Benoit's Nancy, I went to Nancy and Daniel's funeral and Florida with a less than a day's notice. And I got there late, I was a flight, you know, so I walk in the funeral home and church, whatever. And I was not too welcome. Because the WWE had, you know, it had bad vibes or those people that lost a little boy and lost horses Nancy. So it was tough. But I'm glad that at least we can talk.

"And center on that poster no cody Rhodes and listen in the world of pro wrestling cody Rhodes is a huge name is cody Rhodes roads big enough to be in the middle of that poster he would be my third choice based on name notoriety around the world okay now with Evolution Youth Movement you one avenue superstars and he's going to be our guest today at ten A._M.. With hangman page be the right person to put in the middle of that poster no so it really does come down to Moxley and Chris Jericho and again. It falls into that same thing that you're talking about two former W._W._e.. Superstars does the poster give you the feeling or insinuate that Jericho is the biggest star in the company. Yes or just asking your opinion on it. I'm not saying that I like it or don't like it. I just found it interesting. That Jericho is the middle of the crash. You know the middle of the poster basically subconsciously tells tells you is. This is the guy all right so the poster tells you Jericho is the guy the perception is Jericho. The Guy is the guy let me ask you is Jericho the guy if somebody was to come up to you boy and say who's the biggest superstar superstar that a e w has what would your answer be. It's gotta be tied of me. Between Jericho and Moxley see I would probably go with Jericho. It's the only reason I'm saying Moxie is because of that that that new passion and excitement that he brings to the company Jericho's been around much longer than Moxley Jericho without doubt known all over the world. You know what in talking about it with you. Yeah you gotta go with Jerry. It is it is the answer Moxley I guess is the freshest steam to the company. Yeah and again deserves to be on the poster. I just don't know if he should be a front and center interesting thing to this press release. There was a big article in Forbes magazine and it says that industry insiders are anticipating an audience of around four hundred to five hundred thousand thousand for A._W._S.. Television Premiere on T._N._T.. Interesting number because we talk about the low ratings for the W._W._e.. But obviously those numbers would be much lower than you see on raw and smackdown but there's an upside because that's telling you that the industry insiders aren't expecting a huge audience for a w so that's going to be to their advantage because if they do fall in between that four hundred five hundred number it's going to be hey. This is what was expected. This is is what we thought was going to happen. I think they have a really good chance of getting a higher number then that here's an interesting comparison whenever I throw those polls up on social media at the end of Monday night raw or the end of W._W._e.. Pay Per view. I normally get between ten thousand and fifteen thousand responses or votes on the poll for the W poll. I got just over five thousand responses us which which kind of is comparative to what you just said about what industry insiders predict. I actually think that's on the low side but then again I thought raw would do a bigger rating with the returning in legends and you hit you dead on balls accurate you said about three million and you're right man is it's five hundred thousand viewers four H.. Brand new wrestling company meet with major starpower major money major production value behind it on an easily accessible network like T._N._t.. Is that a good number. I think it is and here's why Bali other than N._B._A.. Basketball Basketball could you name me anything. That's on T._N._T.. Yet but you put if you have T._N._T.. And if this is advertised the correct way before October second comes out. You're going to drive people to T._N._T.. So it's not about what's on T._N._T.. If there's nothing on T._N._T.. That I WANNA see then I'm not tuning into T._N._T.. But if I have this brand new wrestling company with Chris Jericho and and Moxley and the bucks and cody and Omega and this big production value and Yada Yada Yada why wouldn't I turn well but here's the thing you mentioned the raw reunion on Monday and we're expecting a big pop because they're having all these return superstars and it did for you know not as big as you thought it was going to be but it was a decent pop for Monday show when they're looking at e w they're looking at it completely different way. Here's a new company with a roster with names that a lot of people people are not going to be familiar about scenario looking at this as we're going to start off alot and it's going to build as time goes on. I don't think they're looking at this like the way we looked at raw reunion. Put It on Youtube. POP PEOPLE ARE GONNA be into it too probably thinking that hey maybe ill gain some curiosity that people tune into start but they're hoping in time that that number is GONNA get bigger. Do you think a e w will go fishing in the W._W._e.. Pool meaning do you think they will put ads for the first Wednesday night show on Monday night raw and smackdown if they were smart they would so when you take a look social media presence when you take a look at the fact that they advertised shows on T._N._T.. During Basketball Games I'm sure they're going to have a full media blitz leaving leading up to October second
