"So This is the mad max fury road. Prequel that will focus on shirley's their titular character From that movie except she won't be reprising her role. It will be on you taylor. Joy playing a younger version of the character And today there was a big press conference down in australia with director. George miller and new franchise star. Chris hemsworth announcing that they would be shooting the movie in australia next year. And this follows in the footsteps of mad. Max fury road which Shot some of the movie in australia but got held up a little bit with some weather issues when some heavy rain ended up turning one of their desert landscapes into a little bit more of a a lush green scape. They weren't so they had to move production to namibia to finish the movie instead. It's funny actually. Initially george miller said that he was planning on shooting a sequence in australia this summer in june because they wanted to take advantage of the higher tax incentives that they were offering and it was anticipated that they were going to be. Some legislation passed that would reduce the tax incentives next year. So i guess they wanted to get this big expensive sequence out of the way soon they had Had vehicles ready. And we're ready to do like stunt performer forms and stuff but now that the legislation isn't pulling back on those tax incentives they can hold off and they're waiting to shoot everything next year.

The Cider-Sipping, Mitten-Wearing Guide To 2020 Holiday Movies
"Guys it's my d-. I work with amy on the bobby bones show. I'm a head writer and producer over there and also have a podcast in my own called movie. Mike's movie podcast or all. I do is talk about movies. I explore movie topics. i do. Movie reviews and sometimes bring on actors and directors to talk about their movies. So what i wanted to bring to. This episode is my holiday watching movie guide so i have five different categories with five different movies. You can add to your watching playlists. I know it's only november. But i feel like we've pretty much gone straight into christmas holiday mode right now so these are some great movies to go ahead and put on your list in the first category. Let's go with the favorite old school classic. And i'm to have to give it to the original. Og christmas movie. A christmas story from nineteen eighty-three. It's a movie. Probably all grew up watching and at this point we can kind of just have it on in the background and it just gives us that christmas feeling. They're just so many classic moments in classic quotes from this. A christmas story also had the eighty nine percent rating on rotten tomatoes. It's not available to stream anywhere right now but if you want to rent it. It's on amazon for three ninety nine. And then if you have cable subscription service you can usually catch it on pbs or stream. It their on demand. And i feel like when it comes to having a classic. You can't go wrong with the christmas story. Only i didn't say fudge. I said the word the big one. The queen mother of dirty words dash dash dash next up. I had the category of the best modern classics. So i feel like this is a movie been around long enough but it's still relatively new and it's a movie now. That actually came out seventeen years ago. So i feel like it's so far stood the test of time and i don't really seeing any point to where this movie will not be a part of my christmas and if you haven't seen it at this point well i don't know what you're waiting for. I don't know where you've been in the movie. I'm talking about is l. It has eighty four percent rating on rotten tomatoes. It's currently not available to watch anywhere for free but you can read it on amazon for three ninety nine and if you happen to have a stars direct tv subscription you can watch it there. And the thing. I love about this movie that everybody i talked you kind of has their own favourite part of the movie. My favorite part is when buddy the elvis. I leaving to go find his dad and he's saying goodbye to everybody to hope you find your dad. Thanks in our wall. All right the next category is the unconventional christmas movie. I think every year people had a debate on what is an isn't a christmas movie. Several different movies kind of fit into this category. But one i feel that kinda gets left out in the discussion. Every year is harry potter. And the sorcerer's stone now all throughout the harry potter series. I feel like christmas is a pretty big part of it. And not only that. But i feel like christmas scenes. In harry potter are just some of the most magnificently done christmas. Any christmas movie. And i don't know why they get left out of that conversation. The bad thing about the harry potter movies is they are pretty much taken off of any kind of streaming service and you can really only rent them on amazon for three ninety nine but the first one does have eighty one percent rating on rotten tomatoes. If you haven't seen it yet. And i know overall christmas is pretty small. Part of the entire franchise. But harry potter at one point does get the visibility cloak as a christmas gift and therefore i'm dubbing get a christmas movie christmas happy christmas next category. I wanna do favorite rated r. movies. So this is christmas louise for adults so kids. If you're listening you can't watch these movies and parents. I feel like these were made for. Maybe some of us. Who don't necessarily enjoy christmas movies. And just want something to make you laugh. That just has a little bit of christmas in it. Because i know sometimes christmas movies get a little bit cheesy and my all time. Favorite rated r. christmas movie is bad. Santa it literally makes me laugh out loud. And i know it's incredibly rajini incredibly inappropriate. But i love billy bob thornton and even in the crudeness and the rudeness of this movie i do feel like it has a lot of heart and if he can get through the dirty jokes and the bad language you do find a pretty nice christmas story here and bad. Santa has a seventy eight percent rating on rotten tomatoes. And as of right now you would have to pay to ninety nine to streaming on amazon. But i know once it gets closer to christmas. It has popped up on netflix. Maybe check for it. There later was gonna make some sandwiches. I could make you one before you leave. Okay maybe some sandwiches harshest. You want the usual amount. Just whatever you think. Okay right in the last category. I want to get to is a favourite new christmas movie. And i'm gonna go with the holiday. Would you can watch now on net flicks and a little bit of a warning. It is kind of raunchy and crude. Just like the bad santa movie but if you're into movies like bridesmaids or the hangover i feel like it's kind of in that category so it's emma roberts and luke bracy who is australia and he's kind of like the kmart version of chris hemsworth and they come up with this plan to be each other's dates for only the holidays. So let's be only time they ever get together so it starts at christmas goes through all the holidays in the united states and then ends up back at christmas and if you guessed at home that they ended up developing feelings for each other throughout this plane to be each other's holiday. Will you guessed correctly but again. That doesn't spoil. The movie is basically in the trailer. And it's basically what every kind of cheesy romantic comedy. Christmas movie plot is about. But i think overall this movie just makes you kind of turn your brain off and enjoy a nice holiday movie. And isn't that what we all need right now. All right. that's your holiday movie guide if you enjoyed that segment and want to hear more about movies to check out my podcast movie. Mike's movie podcast. Just search movie mike. Wherever you're listening to this right now

Another Mad Max Movie Is Coming, Without Mad Max
"There've been five mad max movies over the past forty one years and they shared one thing in common that MACs. But for the first time, a film set in the universe without the title character is on the way fury. As a result, 30 million unemployed Americans received $600 less than benefits this last week. And some folks just received checks below $235 to live on for the entire week. House Democrats are demanding that the extra $6 a week be paid by the federal government, and that remains in place through January 2021. But Senate Republicans, the members of the Trump administration, say the extra six hundreds of kin to paying Americans not tow work, given the 2/3 of Americans have actually received more money and unemployment benefits. They, they were saying, everything else, fine. And I was listening to it and thinking, okay. What am I listening for? They broke out the hobbit Allom audit Allom. That's when I realize whom that is that will cut you Bax and have it along yet, I've never heard that I've heard really strong New York accents before. And I've heard slight New England. Boston accents. But until today I never heard anything that strong. That was super strong really, really strong. Hobbit allom. Yeah. There was just they were doing just checking on alarm that was going on. It's a habit alarm in the hovel Yod, have it Allom. My word on my head the rest of the rest of the day. Now the rest of the day. I have that in my head. Okay. So I got a couple of social Justice for your stuff. I we need to stop this crap right now. So men in black. I like. Thor. Chris hemsworth. I like him and I don't dislike Thomson. She was one of the Valkyries wasn't. She. In the one of the avengers, when Kate Blanchett was in it and was so epic. I mean that outfit, I'm totally going to be here for Halloween. If I can figure out how to do Antlers like that because it was so epic. I when she when she, like all, I know is my favorite thing about that movies when she gets Antlers. That's my favorite thing about that movie. Oh. And then when they play the Led Zeppelin, and he's fighting the what is it was? He fighting Steppenwolf who's he fight. I don't remember. Anyway. Long story short so Tessa. Thompson who I didn't think was she's been in a couple of other things, but she's in adventures. I really didn't have repegged is kind of a social Justice, third way, feminist kind of thing. But and she could have been set up because I don't have the full context of this whole thing they're asking questions. And, and. Discussing with her about the movie, 'cause they're up promoting men in black, the new version of it in black and they were asking her about working on the film. And so, and they only have her answers, one of those things where it's like a super cut, and they have hurt you answer. So I really would like to know how they set her up or if she just offered this, but the quote is pitched some ideas like people in black, and that would be I b which sounds like a sandwich, and then I pitched humans and blog, which would be HIV, and that sounds like something you don't wanna get she goes, I think we can change the name at some point. I hope we can get to the space where it's not noteworthy when women top line these films and film, like this helps us get there and. She said that she was talking about Emma Thomson. And I really want this is what I find really weird because you have all these reporters that write all these pieces about, you know, we need to stop treating women who you know, are headliners in these films as some kind of freaks and we gotta stop. We really need to treat them as, as just any other movie, and ask them questions, just like you would the male characters. Well, then why in the hell do you guys constantly, ask women about this issue? Why do you ask them about? Well, what's it like to have such a strong actress just providing such such strong gender representation in such a film franchises this? Why would you ask stupid questions like that? If you're the, the premise of your story is about female empowerment, as actresses who are, who are top lining in films. Do you understand? It's they, you keep focusing on it and treating it as it's this idea that women taught that beat women being above the title, and in, in films, and starring in films, that it's a new thing. I guess they forget Linda Hamilton. I guess they forget a whole ton of other actresses who've done this. Why are we acting like this never happened before? Yes, Gorny Weaver. These women were bad ass. And, you know, something, you didn't hear Linda Hamilton out there, bitching and moaning about. Well, she did her role. She looked amazing. She still looks amazing elegant stop that stuff. I think it's a -fensive when I see this, because it sounds like you're asking baby questions of women was gonna be kid movie. That's what I feel like they're asking. When I hear chicks, ask questions like this, the social Justice, where your crap, what I hear is working movie that I commend you. There. I feel like the questions themselves are sexist and it makes the whole thing ironic. No one would ask Linda Hamilton this, she'd probably backhand, you, if you did hell, I wouldn't wanna make that woman mad. She will eat you. Have you seen her? She's been shredded wheat her whole life. She's amazing. And Sigourney Weaver was always I mean these were strong women who dramatic roles action roles they did all of it, and there have been tons of women who've done this to act like, well it's I don't want it to be, you know, it's noteworthy when women line these films. What, what does that mean? Women have into top lining these films. Do these women are there, so self involved, self involved that they think that no other female actresses existed prior to there being in this role pretty recent? You know what I love about gal gadoe? Here's the difference between brain arson right? She was the one. I don't know. There's a couple of theirs. Okay. Can bring you please bookmark this 'cause I want to come back to this point? Remember how there was Bill Pullman and Bill Paxton? Some of them are all of them are dead. And then there was another one. They all look alike, three actors all look just like. Bill Paxton, Bill Pullman. And then there was somebody else. I don't remember and there's this thing is happening again. But it's with women. Brie Larson's like the Bill Paxton of actresses, and there's a couple of others that very closely resemble her. They all have the same kind of hair sort of the same facial features at same length of hair to they kind of go for the same roles. You know. But okay, my point in being is gal gadoe when she did wonder woman. One of the reasons it was so amazing because she didn't get into all she. She focused really promoted the character and promoted the strength of the character. And then you have realized out there who who acted as though she had to use social Justice warriors as a crutch to promote her movie and instead of just generating controversy, she generated ill-will, and she ended up alienating fans. Look, you don't have to like, what your fans believe, in, you know, you don't have to agree with them one hundred percent but they pay for you. And then. Okay. So here's my question. Why isn't dark Phoenix doing well? That's the new x men film. That's out. And the chick from game of thrones Sansa was in it. She said she said those some pretty stupid social Justice for your stuff. So I don't know if that's had an effect on it. Hers has been about abortion and third way feminism, stuff like that not so much as it relates to the role. So I at least do appreciate that. She hasn't been out there like, well, you know, I should be taking because I'm a female plane an action hero. A super of a superhero, gal gadoe, by the way, Gallardo has done it, and she's under two thousand times better than all these people who are bitching about the social Justice, where you're aspect of it. But why is it performing? Well, that's a good question because even rotten tomatoes. And you know like. Just bad bad rating. Called it a bomb. So, and that's really weird to me. You can draw the, the you know, connect the dots with this whole social Justice warrior thing. But we know that, that only affects really have the audience and Steve, no, I haven't are you going to? Really I wanted to by the way, I still want to just for the record. It's dote so correct. Yep. Yep. I'll call whatever she wants to call. Best gal Gadot, I'll call whatever she wants a color a color, g g. So they is so apparently, dark Phoenix is gonna lose one hundred million. They said it bombed worse, screen rent head, they said Dr Phoenix bond worse than anybody expected now. My immediate thought was. Well, not just ration-, but I want because here. So here's what I've noticed with with films like this. You have these women who get an EAS roles, and if they would just not try to politicize everything it would be awesome. But instead, they immediately come out of the gate, politicizing it and bitching, and moaning. And then when people react to that they say, we'll probably no one's gonna see our movie because they can't handle a strong female character in this leading role. No, it's because you sound like a jackwagon and you just killed my suspension of disbelief literally right? Before your movie comes out you epic flipping blockhead. And then they get mad at all the dude. Hell chicks. Wanna go see that? So I don't know if that has. I don't know what it is. Because I can't imagine. Because all the x men films have been so good. This may change the wave that film companies have these celebrities promote movies. I think a good Phoenix, right? No, I think from what I've seen trailer was actually looks really good visually and everything else. I don't know they said the opening weekend, it was worse than anyone ever in -ticipant. It'd. In contrast to some of the other superhero films like vendors in game and captain marvel which also didn't perform. Well, it was they said that the last movie in the X men franchise was never expected to be a massive blockbuster, when it premiered, they had it pegged for fifty million, which would have been the worst start in the entire series. But that and that's actually respectable compared to what happened. It only took thirty million domestically and it finished second behind the secret life of pets, too. Wow. Also, and it's a flop, and I would love to know as a combination of saturation in the w stuff do you think so? I mean, there's a lot of the I mean, people are excited to see the movie. I, I really think if there wasn't this literal dark cloud of politicization around the well. Well, anything some of the earlier reviews, which were negative contributed to the word of mouth stuff, you know, and it wasn't it doesn't seem like it was compared to some of the other superhero stuff. Some we're saying it's not it was never presented as this cinematic event, which is why and really up against any huge movie that would audience and some there was one reviewer, who said, I think people stop carrying after wolverine was killed because the film Logan kind of felt like.

'Men in Black: International' Struggles to Find Its Place in the Universe
"Out, Ryan. It's been long awaited men in black international. Yeah. Long-awaited is right, dis movies, usually, take a while to get to the feeder. And this is the first one gotten since men in black three in two thousand twelve obviously say continuation of the franchise that started with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones all the way back in nineteen Ninety-seven, of course, this time around, we don't have either of them. I think if you attention you might see their framed photos show up in one scene. But this time the action is centered in the London branch of which is run by Liam Neeson's, high t-, Tessa Thompson is a rookie agent agent age, who is teamed up with kind of a full of himself, slacker agent, m who is played by Chris Hemsworth. They have to basically uncover a mole in the organization y. While at the same time prevent an alien threat from getting their hands on a powerful weapon. So you know it's pretty standard stuff. There aren't particularly any clever plot elements and it kinda plays out exactly as you might expect it to, you know, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson had great chemistry together and four. Ragnarok, they seem to be having fun here. But it doesn't quite compared to that movie still. It's probably one of the few bright, spots, otherwise typical Sifi blockbuster. The supporting cast is great has 'em Thomson. You know, Camille, non Johnny and Rebecca Ferguson. They offer their voices, two two different alien characters kinda steel seems at they're in that a lot of this feels way to millier and kind of not quite inventive enough to sort of justify extending the franchise, so it's not doing very well at all with the critics. It's currently at twenty six percents. I personally think that's a little bit low because I still think it's kind of fun world to be in. So if you feel the same way, it'll probably be decent time killer. But I wouldn't go in there expecting like a huge revitalization of the franchise. Yeah. That's kind of disappointing from my vantage point, I was ten when the first one came out and I love and I still like that movie. But yeah, there were definitely some diminishing returns as the franchise went on. And I was hoping that this would sort of be a reset that there would be something good. Yeah. I mean, I think a lot of people were hoping for that, especially with the involvement. I mean, the two stars Chris Henderson has Thomson everybody thought okay? This is going to be so Ragnar off to in a sense, and it's not quite that. I think the, the director is f Gary gray who's done with me. No heated the most recent fast and furious movies and the Italian job, so you've got some, you know, action under his belt. But for some reason, he just can't quite manage the tone of this one properly, I think, but again, I still think it's kind of a fun movie to watch. So I mean if you're into that world into that universe, I wouldn't necessarily Ryan, would you say it's one of those things we talked about this before where you have. A whole lot of critic saying. You know I just can't give it a thumbs up. It's not terrible, but it ends up being a negative review which against it. It's not like so when you see twenty five or twenty six percent it's everybody's saying this is terrible. Stay away. It's just it's. All right. Yeah. I definitely think that that's the case with this one. I think a lot of people feel extremely lukewarm. I mean, don't get me wrong. There's a fair share of people who saw this and thought it's really bad. Oh, okay. There's definitely a handful of critics thought. Oh, this is the worst in the franchise. But, you know, I think the, the average score is four point five out of ten so that might tell you something. Okay.

I've never heard that strong ever, and it was, it's so funny because they, they were saying, everything else, fine, and I was listening to, and thinking, okay, what am I listening for? They broke out the hobbit Allom often Allom. That's an I realize whom him that it is that will cut you that assist sharp accent. How it allow yet? I've never heard that I've heard really strong New York accents before. And I've heard slight New England in Boston accents. But until today I never heard anything that strong. That was super strong really, really strong. Hobbit allom. Yeah. There was just they were doing just checking on alarm going off. It's a habit alarm. The havi Gad. My word. Now. I'm in my head the rest of the rest of the day. Now the rest of the day. I have that in my head. Okay. So I've got a couple of social Justice warriors stuff ram. I we need to stop this crap right now. So men in black. I like. The Thor Chris Hemsworth. I like him and I don't dislike Tessa Thompson. She was one of the Valkyries wasn't. She. In the one of the avengers, when Kate Blanchett was in it, and we're so epic. I mean that outfit, I'm totally going to be here for Halloween. If I can figure out how to do that, because it was so epic. I when she when she, like all, I know, is my favorite thing about movies when she gets Antlers. That's my favorite thing about that movie. Oh. And then when they play the Led Zeppelin, and he's fighting the what is it was he fighting Steppenwolf who's he fight? And I don't remember. Anyway, long story short so Tessa. Thompson who I didn't think was she's been in a couple of other things, but she was an adventures. I really didn't have her pegged, as kind of a social Justice, third way, feminist kind of thing. But and she could have been set up because I don't have the full context of this whole thing, they're asking are questions. And, and. Discussing with her about the movie, 'cause they're out promoting men in black, the new version of it in black and they were asking her about working on the film. And so, and they only have her answers, one of those things where it's like a super cut in and they have her answer. So I really would like to know how they set her up or if she just offered this, but the quote is, I pitched some ideas like people in black, and that would be PI be which sounds like a sandwich, and then I pitched humans and blog, which would be HIV, and that sounds like something you don't wanna get she goes, I think we can change the name at some point. I hope we can get to the space where it's not noteworthy when women line these films. And I think a film like this helps us get there and. She said that she was talking about Emma Thompson. And I really want this is what I find really weird because you have all these reporters that write all these pieces about, you know, we need to stop treating women who are headliners in these films as some kind of freaks and we gotta stop. If you're the premise of your story is about female empowerment, as actresses who are, who are top lining in films. Do you understand it? They keep focusing on it and treating it as it's this idea that women taught that beaten women being above the title, and in, in films, and starring in films, that it's a new thing. I guess they forget Linda Hamilton. I guess they forget a whole ton of other actresses who've done this. Why are we acting like this has never happened before? Yes, Gorny reverse these women were bad ass. And, you know, something, you didn't hear Linda Hamilton out there, bitching, and moaning about well, she did a role. She looked amazing. She still looks amazing y'all gonna stop that stuff. I think it's a fence of when I see this, because it sounds like you're asking baby questions of women. Was it like to? We're gonna be kid movie. That's what I feel like they're asking. When I hear chicks, ask questions like this, the social Justice, where your crap, what I hear is working movie that I commend you. There I feel like the questions themselves are sexists and it makes the whole thing ironic. No one would ask Linda Hamilton, though. She'd probably backhand, you, if you did hell, I wouldn't wanna make that woman mad. She will eat you. Have you seen her? She's been shredded wheat her whole life. She's amazing. And Sigourney Weaver was always I mean these were strong women who do dramatic roles action roles they did all of it, and there have been tons of women have done this to act like, well, it's I don't want it to be, you know, it's noteworthy when women top line these films. What, what does that mean? Women have been top lining these films. Do these women? Are they so self involved, self involved that they think that no other female actresses existed prior to there being in this role? Pretty recent. You know what I love about gal gadoe? Here's the difference between brain Larson. Right. She was the one. I don't know. There's a couple of theirs. Okay. Can bring you please book Marcus because I want to come back to this point. You remember how there was Bill Pullman and Bill Paxton? Some of them are all of them are dead. And then there was another one. They all look alike, three actors all look just like. Bill Paxton, Bill Pullman. And then there was somebody else. I don't remember and there's this thing is happening again. But it's with women. Brie Larson's like the Bill Paxton of actresses, and there's a couple of others that very closely resemble her. They'll have the same kind of hair sorta the same facial features at same length of hair to they kind of go for the same roles. You know. But okay, my point in being is gal gadoe when she did wonder woman. One of the reasons it was so amazing because she didn't get into all she. She focused really promoted the character and promoted the strength of the character. And then you have three Larsen out there who who acted as though she had to use social Justice warriors as a crutch to promote her movie and instead of just generating controversy. She generated ill-will and she ended up, alienating fans. Look, you don't have to like, what your fans believe, in, you know, you don't have to agree with them one hundred percent but they pay for you. And then. Okay. So here's my other question. Why is it dark Phoenix doing well? That's the new x men film. That's out. And the chick from game of thrones Sansa was in it. She said, she said, though some pretty stupid social Justice for your stuff. So I don't know if that's had an effect on it. Hers has been about abortion and third way feminism, stuff like that not so much as it relates to the role. So I at least do appreciate that. She hasn't been out there like, well, you know, I should be taking because I'm a female playing an action hero. A super of a superhero, what's gal gadoe by the way, gal Godot has done it. And she's under two thousand times better than all these people who are bitching about the social Justice, where you're aspect of it. But why is it performing? Well, that's a good question because even rotten tomatoes and. Just bad bad rating bomb. So, and that's really weird to me. You can draw the connect the dots with this whole social Justice warrior thing. But we know that, that only affects really half the audience and Steve, no I haven't are you going to? Really I wanted to by the way, just for the record. It's doubted dote. So it's more, visit gal Gadot dote. Yep. I'll call whatever she wants me to call him. She's my best friend, gal Gadot. I'll call whatever she wants I'll call her a caller. G g. So they so apparently, dark Phoenix is going to lose one hundred million. They said it bombed worse screen right had they said Dr Phoenix bond worse than anybody expected now. My immediate thought was. Well, not just saturated. But I won because here. So here's what I've noticed with with films like this. You have these women who get these roles, and if they would just not try to politicize everything it would be awesome. But instead, they immediately come out of the gate, politicizing it and bitching, and moaning. Welcome to the new metropolis of gaming retro City Games. All right. And we're back to close out the show the PC multiple errors, my friend four, we head on out. We gotta be talking some men in black because minute black international with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Sorry, it's not a return to thought ragnarok, it is men in black international and expectations. I'm intake, my friend are really, really low for this. Monetarily. It looks like with all the poor reviews and the fact that it is just being swept under by so many other different projects. It looks like men in black is just going to be something that, in my opinion like the X men that we saw last week in dark Phoenix is just going to be the final stroke. As far as knocking off this part of the franchise, and we won't be seeing a minute black anytime soon. Okay. So my question to you would be is this, because it's a bad movie, or is this, because the non superhero franchises are starting to go by the wayside because they are not superhero franchises. And the bar has been set far far too high for these movies. I agree. I think it's the latter. They only want to see Chris Hemsworth, as Thor. I think it's unfair because he is a really talented actor. I mean, if you wanna see some of the best work with some of his initial theatrical performances, check out the first few minutes of Star Trek. Okay. I mean you see Star Trek you remember his performance as, as Jim kirks, dad Star Trek. He crashed that ship so well, yes, he did. But the acting in there, that's what God him basically, the part of Thor. That's what got him in the running. That's what got him noticed Hollywood. That's because it was so good. Now he did Thor. And he's will remember for that. He's tried various roles over the years. And he's outside of maybe the snow wind and the Huntsman which I don't know you can really give him credit for because when they tried to put him in his movie without Snow, White, it kind of crashed burned from there. He's just not having any success outside of Ghostbusters. He's not having any success outside the marvel Somme givers to me, that's kind of tragic simply because the fact that he is a talented actor and he deserves better. But you're right. I think it's a fact that people have so many expectations. Now when they wanna go see something in a franchise and if it's not something that it's weighted as far as a superhero franchise. It doesn't look like it's going to be able to cut the mustard for many of them. But then, again, we've seen John wick, John wick is now a franchise. That's because it's been portrayed in promoted very well promoted very wisely. I think a lot of it has to deal with the promotion and the way these things are set up as well. Promoting a movie can help make Britain, sadly can help make break in actor actresses career, but just franchise in general if it is not a Star Wars or superhero franchise, it just it does not work anymore. You know, look at how many terminators probably gonna have the same thing happened to them in black as having happened to it. The bar is set to hi. And what's considered success has been inflated so much that it's, it's almost impossible to succeed these days. If you don't have a marble logo on your film. So I don't necessarily think that men in black international going to be a bad movie or is a bad movie. I think that in the post of injuries in game days, nothing can really survive in the industry anymore, unless it makes. A well over, you know, makes eight hundred million to a billion dollars and I don't see the last minute. Black didn't do that. And it's just it's a shame because there's so many gyms out there and Chris Hemsworth, especially like he's a funny dude. And I'm sure that he could be really funny outside of Thorpe, you want it to, but they're not giving him the opportunity. I'm curious if people are just not going to see the movie and they're planning on watching comes out, or if it's truly a bad movie, I haven't read any of the reviews, I don't want to. But do you feel like it's on track to beat Godzilla while I was, I've told you before I don't really hold a whole lot of stock in run tomatoes because that's just telling you, what's the percentage of critics are saying it's a good movie. So you and I can say it's movie. That's what a five point five out of ten, which technically is a positive movie that would put us on the positive side, as far as percentages are concerned, I go by mid acrylic, that's to me is one of the ones I actually lean onto the most far to get a general synopsis before I go dive in. And dig in to what the reviews actually, are saying, and metacritic, I believe is has mended black international in the forties. So that tells me right there that there's a lot of people panning this film. And if that's the case I can see why because there's just not enough in left in the men in black franchise. And I think it's just the fact that right now Sony wanted so hard to try and go ahead and push something you saw what happened with Ghostbusters? They tried to go ahead and reignite that they're gonna try and do it again with the characters that, that were in once before that we all know love, like Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd. Sigourney weaver. They're gonna go ahead in. I think I've been Reitman son, Jason Reitman's going to direct that picture and that's coming out for twenty twenty release. So we'll see what happens when Sony tries to reboot Ghostbusters, again, and we're seeing what they're doing, again when it comes to the men in black which was a fading franchise with Minna black three. I don't think they got the picture on it. They figured. Okay. Let's is. Yes. This thing for while after minute black three and let's go from there. Unfortunately, it's not always working out like that. And I think the choice is Chris Hemsworth is making an also Tessa Thompson for that matter. They're cashing in on their mobile success. The promise they're going for projects that are not best suited for their talents. And that to me is a shame. I mean, what did we talk about what a couple of months ago when we heard the rumors that Chris Hemsworth is going to be the next hulk HOGAN in to me. If you're trying to go ahead and break out as a star as a hit unless that movie really portrays, something that we would normally expect from a whole coke in movie. I think that hulk HOGAN movies going to be a bomb, and I already know this, because you're probably not going to portray it the way it should be protrayed. So be that as it may. Chris hemsworth. A great actor. Very funny. Very good. Comedian rush. I know you like rush. Like you said, I saw I thought it was pretty good as well. But again, it was on such a smaller. Platform, even though Ron Howard was directing it. Nobody saw on because I don't think anybody really knew about it. That was even out in theaters. So I don't it's this choice think he's making, but as far as the men in black series overall, I think, from all intended purposes, once we saw the decline with men in black three of the interest in a minute bike series that should have been a special note to Sony that, hey, we need to go ahead and shut this off for maybe ten fifteen twenty years as opposed to maybe a five or six and that's just call a day from there, because it looks like people are just not interested in men in black anymore. Yen Sony's numbers have been significantly decreasing over the course of the years. But yeah, man, I just I honestly, just think landscape changing in less less people like you said, if you have an eighty inch television a home. Why are you going to go to the movies, and there's not enough reason to go to the movie theaters anymore, especially with the prices and in the time it takes. I wonder if even like the reserve seating has anything to do with it because you, you can't just go to a box office anymore and get a ticket. You have to get your ticket like two weeks ahead of time. I it's just everything's changing so fast. And I it's probably like my brother will go, and he'll he only now watches movies at a red box, unless it's, you know, again a Star Wars her superhero movies. So there's a lot of convenience factors that are now at play that I think a lot of people don't like, but it's just it's going to be interesting to see what happens the next five ten years, anyone going to be making movies, except for Disney, you know, this is true. We could be talking about one Disney movie after another Disney movie after another, visit wait till we do that already true. We do now. Mean now, Disney really does own. Everything's once a good point. Yup. It is indeed. But what are your thoughts out there on the minute black series, which Disney does not own yet? Do you think it still has some life in the minute black series? Or do you think like we do that? The men in black franchise. Is is a whole has definitely been Noor allies. Maybe you can check out Benjamin later this week in here all about the battle of winter fell in whether it worked or did not work. There are some dissension in the ranks here at the ringer today. We're talking MC you not just the movie itself. But also the box office implications, and what the aftermath of that means for summer movies. We're doing a little summer movie preview man, and I'll be chatting about it. But I I thought that you guys are the perfect pair to chat with after doing a deep dive with Mallory Ruben because Amanda, you're on the record is not being the biggest superhero movie fan in the world. But also someone who sees these films out of obligation and has developed a lot of feelings about them. And Chris, I tend to think you're the most you're the person who I'm most eager to hear what he thought about these moves every time you see. I'm right here. It's not that respect your opinion. Amanda, I think it's very valuable, but you're operating from a base level of not. So sure about this, Chris I. I think he if he can really go positive or negative. Sure. So I'm time. I'm wondering what you guys thought. Like, I'm a newborn baby every time I enter a movie. Yes. But sort like Benjamin button this baby. Did you cry? Speaking of a game. I did not cry. Okay mandate. Did you right now? I didn't staunching. So I cried because I feel right? And so. Chris what'd you think? I had like a feelings wave when Peter Parker and Tony stark reunited at the end of the movie, I just felt like entirely a piece, which I think is ultimately what they wanted you to feel which is that I was entirely a piece with the endeavor, I felt fine. And okay about the amount of time. I've spent thinking about this these movies and seeing these movies over the years, I think is really telling listen to you and Mallory talk about it because being a little bit older. I think that I don't quite have like deep passionate connection to it. It's not like a real maker break franchise for me in the way, some some others are, but at the end of the day, I felt like you guys pulled it off. You get you made it emotionally satisfying finales to what was pretty unprecedented endeavor in movie making history, and they made it work Mana. Yeah. I thought it was a fitting conclusion to this experiment for better. And for worse in some ways. It it certainly there was a little bit of everything for everyone, including. Me. I mean, the last show I was delighted I wouldn't say I was like crying or deeply moved. But it's very excited to see Hayley Atwell back into seek cap. I frankly old cap be very happy. And also, I thought pretty handsome for like a really old guy. It'll head ahead. And then yeah, that's true. They didn't age the hair. And I thought that nice. I thought the last shot was very sweet and was kind of going back to many of the themes that we talked about in our podcast about captain America the first venture. And some of the things that I felt the MC you had abandoned. And so I felt seen in that moment, which is not something that I often feel in these movies, it took three hours and a lot of garbage CGI to get there. So, you know, and, but I think other people delighted that we're delighted by that. And so again, there is something for almost everyone in these movies. And that's kind of what the experiment was about. Right. Yeah. Definitely. And you know, in the Morville months years that we did on the show in a you. And I talked about captain America. The first of. Injure. Chris unite talked about the avengers both of the things the key talking points that we talked about in those podcasts really rose to the surface on this one. You know in your in your case, it was how halio wells the most important person in the MC. You Chris for you. It was quite literally that Tony stark is the most important person, the AFC, this was a genuine sendoff. Yeah. I don't I don't think we'll be seeing Tony again. And it was interesting the way that they built him into the not just the centerpiece of the story, not just the emotional center of the story. But like the engine of the story, and I think when we talked a few weeks ago, you were saying that you're not so sure that they're going to be able to do this as actively without him. I think they're staring to an abyss. And I think they might dive in and the this is called Disney. Plus, you know, I think that the the way that we're going to be talking about these movies in ten years United texting over the weekend. And I was like, oh, should I read this comic line to kinda see where it's going or read the story line? And you basically were like here's what's going to happen in in ten years. We'll be talking about this so called to be friends with Sean. No, I think he sent the text and there are some. These are anti spoilers over here. Also. But he's like, I he sends tech. Sometimes I'm just saying we're gonna join but this. This one was like, wow. That sounds incredibly plausible. And it would take about ten years to get. You know what I mean? And but for me, you lose stark, you probably you're gonna lose Evans unless they graduate Evans too kindly, uncle who shows up somehow in some of the other movies. And I think they're going to take the characters that were remaining with the exception of Black Panther, captain marvel in the guardians. A lot of them are going to move to streaming a lot like Sebastian STAN, anti Mackie. They're going to streaming LOKI streaming Wanda envision explicable or going to streaming. So like a lot of these characters are now going to be on these little five episode little mini runs. And I think that they have a charm problem. Now, I think that there is going to be a little bit of a like we need to work to like build up some of these people again, and that will probably come with the characters that you were talking about. But it's gonna take them a few years to develop those projects, you're there's two ways to do that. I think it's evident to me. And I guess we'll see when Spiderman far from home comes out. But they do have a centerpiece in Tom, Holland that was the loudest cheer. I heard both times. I saw the movie that was the person that people were most emotionally connected to and that is the legacy of Downie Downey made that character very meaningful to a lot of people. You know, they they created that father son dynamic, so I could see that effectively being the new iron man of the series. The other stuff is is a little bit up in the air. You know, it's like I feel like the one thing we can kind of all agree on is that they really just handled Chris Hemsworth beautifully over the last five years. They've just figured out how to make him a trueblue movie star. Amanda, we'll talk a little bit about her enthusiasm for men in black international. Maybe later on this podcast but
New 'Men in Black: International' trailer is out
"Men in black trailer is out men in black international Wilson's going to the song for this one. No, he's not even in it, though. It it does Tessa Thompson has two vendors Tessa Thompson, and Chris Hemsworth. Leeson is also in it as well as Emma Thompson and Rebecca Ferguson plays the villain. So this is second trailer. It's the it really shows off their chemistry, which we saw in Iraq. So I'm really looking forward to it very elegant or somebody else. It is not it is f f Gary gray who to wreck did the fast fear fest fears eight Phil bay the furious. Yeah, that's fine. I'm into that was that was opportunity for a segue that I did not make us a little dog going to be in it a little pug. They're not gonna have Will Smith you might as well have the little Dino. And sure worms was the little dog is the Wurmser in the trailer was was was the dog voiced by Joe Pesci or something. Or is that another dog by any of us at this table? Could could probably do the it was it was not. It was not a it was a character actor Tim Tim Blaney
Chris Hemsworth Has No Idea What Happens in 'Avengers: Endgame'
"Even the Milwaukee Brewers are stoked about avengers endgame, the movie that's coming out. Well, I guess critics get their first look in some cases today the rest of the country has to wait until Thursday nights slash Friday. When it comes up. How super secret is the final avengers film, though. The guy who plays Thor Chris Hemsworth went to last night's premiere in Hollywood, not knowing how old movie, and I haven't read the script. We got we got given out Piedras. And this is the first of all say in what happens
Summer Movie Preview
"The movies of summer twenty nineteen. What is out there? What's going to happen? And I've got to start by saying you think maybe that summer begins on your calendar near the end of June. But not in Hollywood everything in Hollywood begins early because summer is when they make all the money that they can make all year. So officially April twenty six it's the beginning of summer because the movie that opens on that day is called a ventures endgame. This is three hours long. Nobody's gonna care. I predict that not only will this be the biggest box office hit of the summer, but it will be the biggest box office hit of the year. You remember what happened last time all the ventures or at least half of them seem to turn to dust than die mean? Now have those ventures that are left to signing if they can beat the evil fan. He so evil will the adventures be wiped out forever. Look how much money did these movies make I'm saying why would you basically kill the golden goose? This is going to continue in some way, we all know it. So what else is out there? I'm looking at my list. There's a major thing going on now of in terms of taking the Disney slash Pixar animated classics and turning them into live action movies. So we have The Lion King line king. One of the most successful Disney animated movies ever is now being done as a live action movie. You have Donald Glover being Simba. You have James Earl Jones actually being this father and the same scores. They're the same using. And it's directed by John Fabbro who did such a great job with the jungle book doing the same thing that I think we can all feel optimistic about what's going to happen. And then we have Aladdin when we remember the. Animated movie who do we remember the most? We remember Robin Williams doing the voice of the genie. This time doing the voice of the genie and being the genie. We have Will Smith. So big stars in this big kind of thing, they tried it with Dumbo earlier this year, and that didn't quite work the way they wanted to do. But we're talking about lying king and the Ladan so big deal. Now, what terms of old fashioned animation is out there. I don't know if you're like me. But there's a Toy Story four toy stories always been my favorite of those Pixar. There's something about Woody and buzz light year, and you're probably saying to yourself. Well, and Toy Story three didn't it happen. That would he said goodbye, Andy. And he went to college, and it was all over remember. There was little Bonnie Andy gave his toys too. So we're going to have little Bo peep comeback. I think when you look at what goes on in Toy Story, you have that kind of feeling of goodness of field. Goodness, but done with all the magic of Pixar. So if those adventures out there are going to have a run for their box office money. I would say Toy Story. Four is going to be the one that does it. So what else we now have men in black men in black international? You're not gonna see Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones anymore. But this time you have Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. As new agents who are out there in this men in black universe. Sometimes you say to yourself do I want more of that? And you never know to actually see it. And I can only tell because I haven't seen this movie yet. But it looks like there's chemistry there. Then we have Spiderman far from home. You know, the Spiderman franchise never seems to end either. But we have Tom Holland who played him last time charmingly, I think, but now spider man, Peter Parker. They're taking a European vacation and the villain that they run up against is mysterious. Played by Jake Jilin. All I just think they're still some special sauce in the Spiderman universe, and I expect this one to also be a major hit. Godzilla Godzilla king of the monsters. I see that. And I go how much can they work this poor God's, but you can look at the trailer and see it. I like the idea that aside from viewer for Megan who is in it, Billy Bobby Brown from stranger things is in its she the dynamo. So if God Zillah can basically meet his match betting on little Millie to do something with that Hobbes and Shaw, this is fast and the furious you remember the rock of playing the the law man, and Jason stefon playing the outcast and the rebel these guys. I don't know if this is Hollywood kind of thing, but they tell us that Jason stadium and the rocked wing Johnson. Don't really like each other. And maybe that what the reason we love these characters and show so much because we liked that conflict. I don't know it seems a PR stunt to me, but I'm going to be there because this cars. There's the rock and their Stefa. So you're going to be there to and you know, it, oh and the big deal. Now, everybody has just in the midst of welcoming game of thrones back to their lives. The last season of that. You can't bear to live in a world where you can't see the stark sisters anymore. Well, now, you can dark Phoenix, which is part of the X men universe. Bring Sophie Turner, and she's Jean grey this character that we've seen before. But she's this younger version of her and she split between the good side of her and the dark Phoenix side of her. And to me, these girls are tremendously talented in what they do on game of thrones. And I think we're going to keep seeing them through the years, but her sister her at least game of thrones sister, maisy Williams is in new mutants part of that universe too. But in this case, they're all new characters to do this. They're all gonna be in the X men universe. Doing it. So that's it for the blockbusters that are out there. You've got everything from animation to comic book characters to everything. And that's the stuff that you hear about that your friends are going to talk to you about. But there's gotta be other stuff to part of summer is comedy of. I think we all really have gone through a long winter. And we're saying make us laugh give us something that will just make say, whatever. I can just sit back and not think. So what's there for that? There's a movie called longshot. This is a movie in which Charlotte Theran is playing the secretary of state who is running for president. But falling Manley in love with who staff throw in. Okay. It's like, a beauty and the beasts thing going on here. Seth Rogan is her speechwriter all of her people say what are you doing? You're going to destroy your career. But no, it's love. And if you don't laugh at the combination of Seth Rogan, Charlie staring. There's nothing left for you. And then we have the hustle. The hustle is a movie that used to be called dirty run scoundrels where the old days it was about conman. Now, it's con- women. They're played by Anne Hathaway and rebel Wilson. And they basically go all cross the continent finding rich people whose money they can steal pretty people. Glamour? What's wrong with that? Oh, book smart. This is directed by the actress Olivia Wilde, and it's about girls graduating from high school and saying we spent all our lives with our head in the books. Everybody else is going to parties and having fun. So they're going to do that beanie Feldstein plays one of them. She is the sister of Jonah hill and real life and Jona hill did super bad. This is kind of the women's version of super bad everything in it works, like a charm. You're really going to like that one. Then we have a movie called late night. This is about the TV talk show world and Emma Thompson plays. Probably the only woman on late night TV who hosts her own show, but she's got only men on her writing staff, and then she hires Mindy Kaeling who also wrote the screenplay of this movie, very very funny about what happens when you put women into what basically has been. A male bass they end of doing this. And the combination of Mindy king writing for the great Emma Thompson and watching them perform together is just so you've got to see that one to my favorite kind of thing. The dead. Don't die. You've got to admit that is a great and funny title. It comes from the indie, directing great, Jim Jarmusch. And it's cut people like Bill Murray and Adam driver by zombies. Okay. If Bill Murray is going to go out there and get laughs. Sizing up zombies. I'm going to be there watching him do it. So we have a good chance for laughs horror. I've got to talk about it now because it's not just the Cajun. Oh movie harm movie that makes money any makes people talk and get happy. It's they're everywhere. Now child's play do you? Remember the old child's play movies where you had Chucky. The crazy nut doll that. Always terrified me. Just. This doll who looks kind of little bit weird and freckly, but he has a voice on him like a longshoreman guess who's doing the west now of Chucky Marquel? Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker. And from what I've seen of it in. It's just been a little bit of it. It's wonderfully malevolent, so I'm going to be there to see that one. Then there's Annabel comes home. Another doll another possess doll also part of the conjuring universe where a viewer for Megan Patrick Wilson. Or the demon knowledge is that tried to make sure that nothing bad can come of this horrible doll Annabelle, but Bill will destroy and I will be there to watch her. Do it then them that follow their certain titles that get me them that follow really gets me? And it's about a snake handling church in Appalachia. No, they there are there colts. And they're almost religious cult where people pray. But they have the snakes, and they hold the life thinks pass them on. And you're thinking, what are you tell me about this like CD movie Har movie will guess who the star of this movie is the freshly minted Oscar winner Ogilby Coleman from the favourite, she's tossing those snakes around so irresistible. I think you're gonna love it. Then there's the Nightingale. See it's does not stop. It's har- everywhere. The night and gas from the director, Jennifer Kent who did a thing a couple of years ago called the baba Duke, which gave millions of people nightmares. And now she's back there following a woman who is chasing a convict got to be hooked. And then midsummer midsummer directed by REI Astor who last year gave us hereditary with Toni Collette, a really scary movie. Now, it's at a nine day Swedish holiday where everybody celebrates. But they'll be no celebrating after this one. So we. Got a lot of stuff out there. That's just going to scare us witless. And I couldn't be happier. All right. When summer comes. We think of all the things I've just talked to you about blockbusters comedy horror action, the rock of everything is there, but every even in a season like this. It's all about money and getting us into our theater, there are those movies that can come out entertain us. And also will hear about them at the end of the year when the Oscar nominations come out and the number one movie on that list, and the one that I haven't seen anything of India's of anyone that saw even anything past the trailer is called once upon a time in Hollywood it is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino its stars in order to Capri, oh as a TV star on the wane in Los Angeles. And Brad Pitt as his stunt double whoever thought of

Tremendous is it spent my whole day on Sunday being hungover and watching it and by life was full. Really? Well, so are we going to see flowers flower? See, I don't know a gazelle running away from a lion. You'll see some of that some wildebeest jellyfish penguins. Of course, that's always staple insects. Yes. Really cool. Insects apes to get everything. Get a loan one. Shell of oh, there's a whole bunch of there's like ten episodes. Oh, I thought we were just talking about an episode. No, it's it's all David Attenborough narrating. And what a voice you can nap two for one thing we yeah. I fallen asleep the blue planet before some of the deepest sleep. I've ever had. It's tremendous tremendous. We walked first episode. I put it on for the kids right before we went to the zoo on Saturday. Aren't we all hyped up? They like that stuff, man. Just show me the fish, please. Me ideas to educate you. Yes, they give resource at the end of every episode how you can help where you can put your money where your mouth is. They did that for. I think one episode at the end of blue planet. Okay. Well, where they showed behind the scenes, and then she said, you know, conservation can save the Great Barrier. Reefs for example. Doc, good. Brief CC some reflection. Jaguars gazelles just think like how that hell. Did they get this camera here and there? Episode of blue on Netflix. Ryan do what I'm telling you man, blue planet to watch the final episode, and they peel back the curtain, and they show you where these cameras, and it's really really fascinating. "And so they did on demand release. Now, they're doing a physical release as well. So that is pretty cool. Tim, I need you to explain Chris Hemsworth. Yeah. This new project is going to be part of the inward is going to be fun. Yeah. No that's going to be into Bill. So Chris Hemsworth was cast as hulk HOGAN in a new bio pic? Yeah. He's been the hoaxer. Visually. Sure, especially if you look at like the first Thor where he was the biggest version, yet, the longest hair. I do not know about this movie. Here's the thing. A lot of people grow up imitating wrestlers. Of course was a big one. Randy savage was a big one. And so if hindrance was ever a fan of wrestling. I'm sure he's got in his repertoire somewhere a hoax impersonation impersonation. Yes. A whole movie doing that. That is it's a lot started till I. Yeah. Okay. But okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna raise a an issue here. Have this thing that you really this is going to be dark and Graham. I apologize. It. You shouldn't make a bio pic until they're dead. I'm like, that's the only thing and very rarely there's instances like maybe vice or when you're explaining a larger story. Sure, I get it. Whole HOGAN still alive. He still has a chance to screw up or do. Well, I mean like it's kind of it's difficult for me to take in a story like that. So most like I I don't want to jinx anything here. But like when they came out with our RPG, I was kinda like kinda got a wait till someone like died, then I didn't want somebody to die. So like it was conflicted with you. Because my things always when the person's still alive is only so much truth. They're going to right. So sort of handcuffed with land. You've got to come to the screening in see this. I mean isn't gonna cover that whole lawsuit. No, I would not know actually. So they did talk about how I to both of your points. I totally agree with the bio pic angle HOGAN is a producer on this movie. Oh. It's piece like this and even talked about in an article, and it should be linked below that this is pretty much only going to be x amount of time like his beginnings, his origin story roast atop a wrestling and change the game right profitable. And then our after like ninety six probably never not beholden retire from w. Everybody. So again, my very very limited knowledge of this, and Tim Damion, especially are are the experts like I do not even know if it will go into the end w like, I'm not sure if it will go that's that was that was one of the biggest moments ever in wrestling. Yes. Maybe it will end with that. Because again, like his retirement now, I actually predict that it's in be entirely about they making thunder in paradise nineteen super boat television show. The new pair exactly because that is a story that has put in so many other characters right? When we in the movies when you're doing rocky three when you're doing. Also is like, okay, so visually. So we're putting on our casting director hats. Now visually Chris as Hoke. I buy it. I can see that Chris can be a big do normally his pretty live..

"But it's an age to love making it enhances the act, so the bitter reading did about this indicates that it's going to focus on his rise to fame, which would make sense. A lot of really juicy up stuff. Happened post suburban commando, but I mentioned this is all about the build up to command to or Mr. nanny this should be called planet. Hulk? That's my final. On the subject. I think they would get so sued. That's weird. Great casting. He is great casting. He can do comedy. He could drama. He's probably the only person Hollywood went out the slimmed-down play HOGAN. But I think it's voice. The voice sounds like. One of the Sesame Street up on that. Should we move on? I'm going to joke in from Twitter. Chris Hemsworth, Thor a plane hulk HOGAN, the ask me lose to handle ball moustache, whereas handlebar moustache Jesse. Let's see. Buffet. Football us Poos. Protect us us predict due to to. Okay. Anyway, anyone else anymore movie news? There was a spectral storm in a teacup last night. When an interview Jason Reitman about his new guys busters. He was Jason wrong. Last night. Wasn't he filmed mild, and specifically the phrase that he said where he said, I'm we're in every way trying to go back to the original technique and hands the movie back to the fans which made a lot of people. Cooked given that it seemed to dismiss the two thousand sixteen poofy film. Yes. But since then he has come out and clarified that he really likes that. Yes. He's he's clarified. He likes Ville and feet came out and clarified that he really likes Jason Reitman. So everyone got really agree. Everyone seems to be cool again. Yeah. That's a great news story. Yes. No is good news story because it it does raise a larger question, which is the danger of fan pandering or fan during if you will. And I don't think it's a good thing. And I'd rather the Jason Reitman and Gil Kane, and who's helping write the screenplay for the Ghostbusters movie just made the Ghostbusters movie that you know, what? Hey, lay want to make and they don't second guess themselves. And they don't think about what the fans might like because here's another thing as well. By large the fans of Ghostbusters proved themselves to be douchebag with the the treatment that the me out to feed and cast of the twenty sixteen Ghostbusters. So don't pant. These people it was pretty focused. Artie, don't pant. Those people just make the movie that you wanna make. That's what they did. When they made the first Ghostbusters. We're no fans demented crowdsource stuff. That's not cups. I mean, the original wiz. Dan ackroyd? Love of old. Barry boys, you know, spook busters films crazy titles. No one really knew about doing it from self and it just turned out amazingly. But he wasn't. He didn't have anyone in mind when he was making right nothing. Should you bear in audience in mind? Yes. Absolutely. I don't think Jason Reitman's gonna make three and a half hour black and white checks, Vaki and subtitle movie. He might do you never know. But you know, you have to has to be commercials in some regard, obviously. But just make a movie man, the thing about fan services that it can lead to things like Bluefield inspector and the repeal of blow fell being something that means something to the fans on again air quoting but not to JAMES BOND, and that's just backwards. That's that's totally backwards..
Netflix Sets Title for ‘Haunting of Hill House’ Season 2 – Which Is Definitely Not About Hill House (Video)
"The hunting of hill house season two is in development. And we now know what it is going to be about Chris tell us about it. Yeah. There have been rumors that Netflix was interested in a second season. And at the time, it seemed kind of unlikely because the first season of he'll house wraps everything up pretty well and adapts one book and so on and so forth. But now we know there is a second season and rather than taking a traditional approach, Mike, Flanagan and Netflix. They're gonna turn it into an anthology series sort of similar to what AMC is doing with the terror. So each season is going to be a new story and while the first season adapted. Shirley Jackson's the haunting pill house season two will be adapting Henry James's the turn of the screw. Which is another classic ghost story. It's been adapted into a film into films. If you times before the innocence is probably the best example of this, very spooky black and white are movie. And this is really cool. I'm very excited. This I loved the haunting hill house per season. And I really liked turn of the screw. I think Mike Flanagan is very talented and undis- gonna assume because this is what I hill house. Did it's going to take a lot of liberties with the book because he'll house only really took like names in certain ideas, and then created its its whole like new thing. And I'm guessing that's what they're gonna do with this as well if they're taking that many liberties, why do they even need something to adapt with the second season. I mean, you know, there's brand recognition. I guess I guess it's also like a framework. Work because he'll house it borrowed ideas and frameworks stuff from the book. And I'm guessing this is gonna take that singer a framework where turn a screw it's about a governess who is hired to watch over to orphans, and she becomes convinced. The the mansion she's washing them in is haunted and the kids could see them. But at the same time, the book is very ambiguous in that. Maybe there aren't really go species. Just crazy. So I'm guessing they're going to use that formula where there's a woman who thinks house is haunted, but maybe she's nuts. That's what I'm guessing. They're going to use that as a springboard to create something new Jakup. I know you were a huge fan of this first season. What do you think of this news? Yeah. The first season's phenomenal. Mike Flanagan is phenomenal. I love this idea. I have not read the turn of the screw by have seen the innocence. And I feel that we have this idea the older horror films aren't scary. There could be spookier interesting. But the innocence is scary it holds up as a genuinely unsettling go story. Even though it's my God. Six years old now. So it's I'm very excited by this idea of with funding did in extent what Chris said is he took what Shirley Jackson was with the hanging Phil house and took two Matic core. And built it out in ways that were more personal to him or person was writing staff and transform those ideas into something that was passionate and personal to him as a storyteller. So like, I'm taking this. This very different goes story with very different ideas. And you know, remixing through his lens in the style of the first season that is incredibly exciting. And I am all for more. Great anthology driven hard to sounds like it's such. It's such a great idea to get more cool go stories in front of right

"He's gonna play the role. Here's the thing. Like it never occurred to me to wonder who would play hulk HOGAN in a bio-pic. So I can't say like, oh, no like, obviously, it would have been this other guy. I will say that like everyone else. I was surprised by like, my friend dropped the link to me. And I was just like what how like it felt like when I was reading the headline. It felt like you know, how like some news feels like someone was playing mad libs. And then they just decided. Shit. That's like I was just like, oh, sure. Okay. I guess you think this is a good move for him per se because obviously he's got Thor big venture spotlight. But we've also seen him do a lot of comedy. And I'm not quite sure how to read into exactly what this is. Although Todd Phillips is director could maybe give us a hint in the focus of the docket of the bio-pic could give us a hint as well. But it's like looking at Chris Hemsworth resume. Do you think this is a good move for him? Or I don't know. Should he do a leap and take like a super series drama? Go back to his rush days or something. He's done super serious dramas. He's done comedies. I personally like him better in comedies. I'm the heart of the sea. He did do into. We thought we saw him on set. We did he. Yes. I mean, he's also don't he did like black hat and sounds like he's done dramas. He's on comedies. He's very funny. I don't I feel like I'm not gonna no I'm not going to have a better sense of like how this is going to turn out for his career until I have a better sense of what it is. I do think that the fact that this film already seems like it's potentially kind of controversial is maybe not going to be super helpful to them. I mean, we'll have to see how that plays out. But like already I'm seeing a lot of people being like, I'm not so sure because like hulk HOGAN himself as such a controversial figure at this point that the yeah, I feel like that's going to call it a lot of it that perfectly leads the way what I wanted to ask you Riley sit. Yeah. Yeah. You get the big question right now. And it's that do you think that they're kind of drawing the line here in the wrong place? Does that concern you at all, especially with whole Cogan reportedly being a consultant on this movie? Well, if whole is a consultant than I bet they're going to stay away from that stuff. Personally. I think that's a mistake. But because hoax involved and. He's he's probably not one wanting to play that. So what I what I think is going to happen one. Chris Hemsworth is a fantastic choice for this. I think it's perfect for him. I think this is the right move after Thor. If indeed and game is the last time we'll see him as an actor as Thor. And this is like you can get some drama in it in some really dramatic acting based on him wanting to build an empire under hulkamania him being that character in the ring outside the ring both in the ring and out of the ring. However, you do it. There's going to be some great comedic moments, but you watch that Andre the giant documentary that was on HBO HBO. There is a lot of drama there. A lot of what goes into being a wrestler? I think if the wrestler the actual movie the wrestler, and what the toll it takes on the body. So we can really break down some dramatic moments here in that perfect heyday of hulkamania, but I don't know how you don't touch that. I don't know how you don't go to the more. Controversial nature, and and see what that does to a character. I I would love to see that being a part of it. But it looks like because of the age of Chris Hemsworth that they're going to stick in hung hulkamania. So we're going to get Andre the giant versus ho Cogan in wrestlemainia. We're going to see that dynamic. We're going to see the dynamic of building all the fans and the and the and the birth of this WWF at the time so find that's interesting enough for me it is. But as a somebody that loves character studies, I wanna see the whole picture. It's interesting to think about you know, we're all well aware of the full extent of his career. I imagine a story like this might sit just fine with someone who's first learning about ho ho ho Cogan through this bio-pic. But I I can't imagine at least right now just speculating based on the limited information, we have I can't imagine this film ending in a place that feels satisfying and semi conclusive when I'm so. Well, aware of what came after I think that's part of the problem. And it's also, you know, all the stuff good or bad that comes after a pivotal moment in a career, then kind of rephrase everything you went through before. And it's part of the full complete experience. So I guess I'm again, I'm going back to I don't quite understand how you can just cut it off at that point. It just also like the stuff that made him like that stuff about him. That's less flattering. That's more controversial is stuff. That's also more recent. So it's fresher and people's minds than even a lot of the stuff that he was beloved for in the past like, if you're especially like, if you're younger person now like all all his best days where like when you were very little or maybe for your born. So yeah. So I feel like it's it's gonna feel very strange to a lot of bio-pics through this some extent where a lot of them kind of ignore or like skate around the more controversial messy stuff. But I feel like it's going to be harder to get away with that. When the stuff that was missing. Bed is so recent and was so public and is still so fresh in people's minds. Yeah. Earning the right burning question right now, though who had a whole Cogan pillow pal. Did you of you? Of course, I did he work called pillow pals right on pretty sure I is that look. Is that looked like this? On pretty sure I had one. Yeah. Well, and I had all the action figures. I was the only time we talk a lot about this in wrestling, and that kind of community through the schmo down, right? And I didn't get into like it was after hulk HOGAN took on under the giant where I I just kind of moved on from wrestling for whatever reason I had those action figures, I had those video games, I was reading those magazines and and comparing their biceps, and we do pushups in the yard and go see my bicep got bigger. It's almost it's almost a whole Cogan. No, dude. It's still will never be closer to HOGAN. So yes, he that. That part is going to be very interesting. But yeah, I think we're all on the same page. We would love to see more. And I think your point is is very accurate. There's so many people that know hulk HOGAN, you mean with with a thing that allu- was that going to be the movie probably not but Todd Phillips I wouldn't put a past him. And maybe there's something that the very end that teases it who knows it's really hard to say yet based on this limited amount of information. Yeah. Hopefully, we'll get. Another
