"Finally seeing some progress in rental relief efforts ahead of a possible eviction crisis next month, Rachel Siegel covering it for the Washington Post, and she spoke with CNN's Tom Butler. The federal eviction moratorium. Ending at the end of this month. In some states, like ours have extensions at the state level. How many households accepted rent and utility help in the month of June? In the month of June, we did see a ramp up from what we've seen early in the earlier in the year. So about 290,000 households were helped with federal emergency rental assistance in June that was up 85% from May. And many times that from April. There's still a really long way to go. But we're starting to see some delayed momentum as you report Congress approving $46 billion for emergency rental aid. How much of that has been spent thus far? So we're only at about $3 billion spent on rent utilities and arrears. And when you look at the denominator like $46 billion, you know it is a unfortunate small fraction. We're starting to see more money go out the door each month. But there have been so many problems in getting this money from Congress to the people who actually need it. And as you mentioned the eviction moratorium expires very soon is that is that why the reason is that the reason that so much of that money is untouched is because of the, uh, the problems getting it out to the people? Yes. So in my reporting, I found that you know the The problem. Isn't that the funding isn't there. The funding has been there for quite a while and really hasn't been touched. It really comes down to some of the nitty gritty involved in propping up these programs. Lot of housing officials and statement cities all over the country repeated to me that you know, there just wasn't an infrastructure to quickly pump out so much money, even though the need and the urgency was definitely there. And you know, it seems like states that couldn't quickly issue individual checks to people or utility companies that were getting the wrong information from housing officials. It's the things that were sort of the nuts and bolts of these programs and when they didn't work that's really been delaying payments for a very long time. Do you have any idea how many households may face eviction when the federal moratorium ends? So that is a member that we're trying to figure out it. It's a number that is changing, and so many parts of the economic recovery has been hard to pin down. But we do know is that from the Census House Household Pulse survey from June there were about 1.2 million households that reported Being very likely to face addiction in the next two months. We know that there's a pretty big backlog of cases, an eviction court, and for now, the message in addition to getting the money out. Has been to find ways to slow truck eviction cases find other ways for tenants and landlords work together so that the solution or the you know what what happens when the moratorium lift is not to immediately kicked people out of their homes. Alright, great reporting. Thank you so much Rachel for being with us. Rachel Siegel for the Washington Post Economics reporter. Camels, Brian Calvert went searching for a few answers. There's been a lot of talk about those who qualify for a vaccine. But choose not to get it. Washington Kids 12 and under Don't have a choice. Approval for this age group isn't until September at the earliest. What's a parent to do? In the meantime, we're just trying to still be careful and with also mixing in some normalcy again in our lives and Get it out doing things outside. When we go inside, we try and wear masks. So Not all we can do. Then there's this mom. When I look at the studies, the kids in that age group are at lowest risk, and they seem to recover really well from it. So we've just been living our life like normal pediatrician. Dr. Sarah, the host asked. Why would you take that chance? It is a weeks long, sometimes inconvenience in your family for one child to catch Covid. Because all the other families family members are exposed and so then potentially can't work. But when it comes to your unvaccinated kids the best way to keep them safe, as have them wash their hands often. Avoid large groups and always wear a mask when indoors outside of the home. Speaking of that mask, I've seen to hear infections in the last 15 months, and I typically see two per date. "Not going to be the pressure cooker that Montreal is in terms of media scrutiny. I'd be amenable to this, but I I don't know how this is. From carry prices perspective about saving the Canadians anything. Is the only guy that they were allowed to protect. I carry price waiving. His no movement clauses was Jake Allen, the other goalie. The third goalie on the roster does not have enough service time to be eligible for the expansion draft. So there's a carry price side of this to what's his motivation. And I think he's okay with that. I think he looks at it like it's a win win. Either. I'm going to stay in Montreal, where I just helped lead this team to a Stanley Cup final will run it back and give it another shot or I'm going to go. Almost as home as I can get without playing for the Canucks. So I think he looks at like a win win. I don't think Montreal's trying to be sneaky or anything like that. I think they legitimately look at it like We could use the tenant point whatever million dollars that we would save by letting Carey price go. I don't understand that. I don't get it. Our Canadians fan. I would be upset about this. But from carry prices perspective, he's like I'm good, either way. I still think that the best Move that Seattle can make best selection they can make. Tomorrow is carry price. For a whole lot of different reasons. So I'm not just because Chris Driggers signed Is reportedly going to sign that doesn't sway me. That doesn't change my mind. I don't think because Chris triggers there that carry price. Is not a bear. He's a better goalie and Chris drinker. Doesn't make it less likely that Seattle brings in Carey Price, I think a little bit less likely. But not enough to where when it makes sense. I still think it makes all the sense in the world. So we know that would be the Florida Pick from them. I think there are I think three Other decisions. I think we're going to be very interesting tomorrow. From Seattle. If you want to go deep inside this thing, we can go team by team because I did it. Maybe I'll just take a picture of it and tweeted out. And if you want to look at it, you can look at it. I think the most likely player maybe even more than carry price. As Matt is Matt Giordano. I think that He is absolutely going to be a member of the cracking. Tomorrow. And the reason is And there are reports today that say that Seattle might make him there, Captain if they select them. Don't know that I'd go that far. I kind of like how Vegas went and said, you know, we don't have a captain. We're all just kind of getting together here. We'll figure things out after a couple years, and then they ended up naming Max. Max Stone there, captain. Would go that route, if from Seattle But there's a way to do this draft. To get just the best team possible. Right. There's a way to do that. I think Matt Giordano, when you look at who the flames have exposed, I think that that makes A ton of sense. Would be a good player, a top line defenseman atop pairing defenseman. Uh, for Seattle. But the other part two, which is the trickier part and the Thing we can't It's even the hardest to predict. What guys? Will Ron Francis take with the idea that he will turn around and flip them if not immediately then by the trade deadline. If the ABS can't figure out there. Blue line situation. I promise you, they'll be calling Ron Francis at some point. Between Thursday and the trade deadline to try and get mad Giordano he would fit perfectly with the Colorado Avalanche, so Ron Francis can just put together a team that's going to be the best team for this year. Or you could just get what are going to be the best assets to have End up trading them all. But the answer is he's not going to go one way or another. He's going to do a mix of both. I think that he takes Vladimir terrorist Senko, which thickens the plot surrounding Gabriel Landeskog. I think Ron Francis takes Vladimir terrorist Senko in order to flip him. Think they take them on, and then they go to an Eastern Conference team. And say, Do you want him will eat a couple million dollars of his salary. To make it more palatable for you, and then you give us draft picks or young assets. In exchange for Vladimir Tarasenko. I don't know that they draft him to keep him but they might But that if they take either, Jaden Schwartz Or Vladimir Terror, Senko. That has a direct impact on the Avalanche. Right? Quest. To keep Gabriel Landeskog. ST Louis needs to be rid of either Jaden Schwartz or Vladimir Tarasenko, and there are some rumors. That if Tarasenko gets taken. And Gabriel Landeskog wants to go to ST Louis, then Jaden Schwartz would then go to Colorado. Which would be a neat little homecoming. For the former C C. Tiger. Again. A lot of it is just Throwing out different scenarios. But that makes sense. Right? Tarasenko goes to Seattle to be moved on to wherever Gabriel Landeskog decides. You know what I'm upset by this. You guys didn't want me. I want to go to ST Louis. Go hang out with Ryan O Reilly be a part of their top line and then jade in shorts. Ends up going to Colorado to replace Gabriel Landeskog. Will it fit that? Well, Probably not. Not everything. You know, syncs up that.

"Of Calvin, Don second time tonight. Some friendly fire from Colin Deleuze defenseman involves the puck getting past him. So the goal credited the horn quest from Huberdeau and Radko goddess to make it 4 to 2. And after Ryan Carpenter took a slashing call with a little bit more than three minutes remaining in the game, Florida put the icing on the cake in front of the net, hears him around with a shot. These cars didn't take him long bark off off the face off, got away a shot from the slot, then worked the puck over to Jonathan Huberdeau, who hooked it pass. Delia for his first goal on the season is over. No. Yeah, his first from bark off and horn Qu'est at the 16 55 mark and that would close out the scoring panthers out. Shoot the Blackhawks. 10 8 that final period It was 29 24 for the game Hawks hell below 50% on the face off Dad for the first time this year, just barely, However, the only 1 49% of their drugs make that 47%. After going 50 50 in the first two contests against Tampa Bay Hawks credit with 13 hits compared to eight for Florida also credit with just four blocks shots. The Panthers collected 13 of those in front. Of Chris Driggers staffed 23 of the 25 shots that he faced. Meantime, Colin dealer gives up a five spot for the second consecutive game again a little bit of rough going with a couple of deflections from his teammates getting past him as he stops 24 of 29 shots Now in the game summary. They've been really slow down in Florida. They have yet to put the final one up. That includes the three stars. Rest assured, I'm gonna take a shot at this. The three star selection sponsored by Bud Light, there's a Bud light there. I'm assuming it's going to be a Panther sweep and the 12 and three stars going to some combination of two lots to rein in as well as Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal in to assist Patrick or Enquist likely what's terrain and had a goal and assist there could also potentially give it to Chris Draeger. Making rare start for him. He doesn't have a whole lot of experience, even though he's in a young goaltender, but drinker stopping all but two shots that he faced here this evening. So once again your final score five. You, too. When we come back, we'll hear some more postgame reaction from Florida straight ahead of the Blackhawks postgame show on 7 20, WGN. Good afternoon.
