"I had thought and I had misspoken on yesterday's show that delmar opened on Thursday. Indeed, they open on Wednesday. On November 3rd, is opening day. So we actually do get a couple of days before the breeders Cup race start, which I think is a good thing just from a handicapping perspective. It's something I talk about with Vic on tomorrow's show. And because I kind of mentioned it on the recap show on Monday you know, when it was raining at keenland and Belmont, I just didn't feel like I had any confidence in just my opinions in general there, and for a lot of you, delmar is attract that you maybe don't play all that often. Are you going to be going to the window feeling confident and I know that we all know how to handicap a race on paper? You know, we open up our brisk past performances. I pull out my optics EQ and I look at the race. But I think about if I'm watching a race from colonial, particularly late in the meat, or it Grants Pass I have a good sense of how the track plays. I have a good sense of how each rider rides. I have a good sense of horses who might have some hanging them that that doesn't really show up on paper. I might, you know, I might know that some horses, you know, react different or just whatever. I just know more about the contestants. And therefore, I can feel a little more confident in my opinion. Am I great at those tracks? No. But there are races at grant's pass where there's horses who I know are four or 5 6 to one. Sometimes lower, who I really think don't have a chance to hit the board or win. Whereas tracks that I'm not all that familiar at a horse that's four to one, I might not like it. But I don't have that kind of strong feeling. I don't have conviction in a lot of those kind of races. And you know, part of that for me is I have to watch for the show and for just my general racing knowledge. I have to watch a lot of tracks in a lot of races. So I don't nail down on one. And or on one circuit other than the ones I call races at. I'm really curious to see, you know, Tampa, obviously note some of those horses from following Tampa and some of them from colonial, but I'm excited to follow a long meat like that day in and day out. Because I haven't done that. Truthfully in a long time. You know, colonial is it was 7 weeks this week and we got to see a lot of the horses three and four times, whereas most previous years we'd seen them once twice, maybe three times. And I felt like I was learning more and by the end of the meat was feeling pretty good about some opinions. And I had some great opinions during the colony. I gave out some good bombs at one. I got a 37 to one shot one time. Carlos munoz horse. But you know, and with grant's pass, like, I feel like I have a real good sense of these horses because a they run a lot and so I've been seeing him now for 8 weeks and we saw him back in the spring. But when it comes to the breeders cup, I know all these horses, but I, you know, del mar is not because of being back east in the summer, I just did not watch a lot of it other than the marquee races that we're going to talk about on the show. And so I'm kind of curious what my sense of those races will be. And I guess when I say it'll be good to have a couple of days. I think to some degree, you just want to have a little bit better of an idea, you know, oh, is it playing to the inside the outside to speed to not speed? Is it fair? Are there certain parts? Like at least you get a couple of days samples of who's doing what. The feature on Wednesday, the seashell at a mile, moonlight the orop for Richard Mandela who's coming in with two straight wins, including in the last virginis, was the last Virginia ever at grade one for some reason I had that in my head that it was, but I guess, I guess it's a great three now, so maybe was it ever agreed to? No, it was a grade one. I was right. I knew that was a great one. Listen to the, I mean, look at the list of winners of this race back in the day. Holy moly. Sharp cat was good. Serena's song, light light. Franz Valentine, here you go. Balance, rags to riches, stardom bound, blind luck, beholder, songbird, unique Bella Bella fina. Phoenician harbor and then moonlight Dior this year. It was a great one, just 6 years ago, then it was great too for the last 5 years and now drops down to a grade three. I was going to sex. I saw last virgin. I'm like, oh, man, that's an important race. I mean, great three still important. But yeah, a little 6 horse field feature John Sadler sending out living my best life who's been sprinting very well going to try to do a stretch out to the two turns. But that's the Wednesday feature at del Marshall again, nice to have a couple of days before breeders cup to get a sense of how the seaside oval may play. Big thanks again today for Chris Davis for joining us big thanks to you guys for tuning in. I was appreciate and love talking to horse racing with you guys. I know there is a slew of good breeders cup content out there for you to digest. I.

"Has written tough to tame, but we're speaking before entries, the show's going to come out. I think right after that tree. So do you have a plan yet for riders for the two horses? So if he's going to ride tough the team for Ryan ritten, Jeff gasner and the rest of the group and then florent Giroux is going to ride American sanctuary. Gotcha. So tough to tame, you mentioned, of course, so I want to talk about that rival runner as well. Second in that synthetic race did break the main on synthetic went to Indiana and one and on two right away in real impressive fashion. And then the Iroquois comes around obviously first time going around two turns all the way to miles 16th. A huge price. You were dismissed on the top board and man, you had a monster shot to win that one. I thought you were getting there with that one. Oh man, he ran it. He ran a bank up race. And again, it was kind of you don't like to blame everything on trips, but then post position kind of killed us. Obviously, again, a lot of those horses were coming out of sprints that had never routed. Obviously, it's early in the prep season for breeders cup. So again, a lot of horses are just going to run off that first part. Our horse has one going 5 eighths and 5 and a half. So he's got natural speed. Had to pinch back was keen all the way down the back side. I'm thinking he's just going to spin it like a normal horse would. When we tipped him out, he really came with a big run. It stinks just the mist by a neck. But it's gallop out with exceptional Sophie actually to get pulled up by the outrider after race. He wouldn't stop. We had a lot of confidence going into that race because his prep before that race was absolutely exceptional. He's gallop out was scary good. So we had some confidence going in there. We knew that they were going to be a big price. People bet names as much as stats. So when they saw soaking eye in a previous cup prep races at Churchill, kind of gets dismissed, but again, he outran his odds and I think both horses a lot run their rods here. I got to assume family friends, everybody coming out for the big week. Oh yeah. My mom and dad are flying in from Ocala, all the clients and their families are flying out. Sophie's mom is flying out with her brother James. We ride Friday Saturday as well. So it'll be a big family affair. You know, I've said this before in the show when I talk to owners and stuff like that. But you know, these horses, they I mean, they create life memories for you, right? Like this is a trip you're going to remember the rest of your life. It's just such a neat part of this business. No question. It is really come full circle, you know, for myself and the guys that have been with me. Coming out to del mar is an assistant back in 2014 and actually I met Sophie in delmar before she was riding in America in 2013. So it's just everything just kind of comes together to be our 5th year on our own to have two breeders cup horses back at a place that I really learned a lot and had a lot of fun and cool experiences. With somebody who I just met in delmar, two days off the plane from England. It's a lot of fun. It's almost story book, but again, it's a race and we got a show up. Yeah, every story book needs its ending. So let's hope it's a good one. Chris Davis, joining us, you find him on Twitter at CH Davis racing. I wish you guys the best this coming weekend. Thanks Jason. I really appreciate it. All right, we'll be right back after a short time out of JCB horse racing podcast,.

"You have to evaluate the stock with what you have. But right now the tenant implant is possibly leaving a small contingency in South Florida depending on our business. If we have business to stay there, we'll stay there. If not we'll probably make the move back to Kentucky, king than Churchill. Indiana grant, the Midwest that we do pretty well on that we have a pretty strong handle. And who knows maybe del mar for the summer, the ship and wind place bonuses are pretty strong and I know delmar a lot of owners want to be out here. So you've got to just play it by year. We have a lot of options. It got me thinking talking about doing the Kentucky circuit there. Obviously, in the summertime, within three or four hours of Louisville, is a pile of racetracks that you can run at. That's not so much the case in the winter time. I know there's still a little of that in Kentucky around there, but in the winter you kind of almost have to pick the spot, right? And stay there. Yeah, yeah, I mean staying in Kentucky year round would be great just the persons are getting good. But you limit yourself in terms of there's no turf racing. My barn is kind of a mixture. I think just about almost evenly of all the all types of horses long in the grass short on the grass and dirt short on the dirt. And synthetic and that's a big draw to South Florida is they have all three surfaces. And I think obviously some of the better horses going back to Kentucky for the summer is important because the money is good. You're not shipping 12 hours or 8 hours just to get outside of Florida. So it's you have to be where you can have access to other tracks. Like say if American sanctuary and tough contain continue to progress and even some of the young horses that we're going to get next year if they look like they're precocious and talented, then we're going to need options to run them. I don't like being on an island per se, which is probably why that's why you see a lot of people moving back away from California. Races don't go, you're kind of just stuck. Back in the Midwest and east coast, you have so many different options. You know, east coast, you have the whole the whole eastern seaboard, really. I mean, Laurel pimlico Penn national Charles town. Mountaineers not far obviously New York monitor. I mean, you have so many tracks right there that you can just kind of pick and choose from. If you're race doesn't go at one, just go to another one. At colonial this last year are a race secretary was telling me because the first day it was like 14 every race and she goes, wow, this is she goes, she goes, you gotta count for mid Atlantic scratches. Like, what's that mean? She goes half of these horses are gonna be entered in 5 different tracks. Right. No, but it's good for the owner. It makes our job as a trainer difficult. And obviously, isn't jockey because those guys that ride back there, they might write it two different tracks tonight. Yeah. But you got to just kick your spot accordingly. But again, it makes it better for your clients to have a better chance of winning more races when you have more options. Chris David joining us here on the program. So I want to talk some breeders cup, you're going to saddle two runners in the breeders cup juvenile. I was looking at the pre entries. It's baffert baffert pletcher pletcher Romans Brown baffert Cassie da sormo was mcpeak, but he's out. And you're not cancels anymore, right? No, no, we're keeping good company. Is that intimidating at all? But I mean, you know, a breeder's cup, obviously, you know those guys are gonna be there, so it's not that big of a surprise, right? Yeah, it's not really intimidating. I mean, we run against these guys every day. Yeah. You know, obviously, it's a big day. It's British stuff. So they're bringing their best and I got my two best. I've run against Todd beaten me and two preparations this year. The sapling beat me by a neck in or half a length and then he beat me in the Iroquois by a neck. So I mean, our horses have run against worthy competition per se. We're just going to give it a run. I want to start with American sanctuary. I want to go back to his debut on the synthetic which was actually tough to tame's debut as well. He was one timer. Yeah. Yeah, he was bet to 9 to 5 American sanctuary was it didn't really do much running at all. Were you surprised and expecting more out of the debut? Not really. No. I really wasn't. He was he's a big price. This indicate there to dream they do a great job placing horses and they're great Midwest and they're actually expanding it. They got syndicates on both sides of the country now and in the Midwest. But they usually take a lot of money because they win a lot of races. I've watched this horse breeze on the dirt at Kelly before I took them up to Arlington and I just thought he was just a different horse on the dirt. I kind of wanted to run them on the first time out, but the race came up. It was kind of a short field. Give them a raise. Him and tough the team were working well obviously enough to run in there and actually they had taken each other up a little bit in the mornings. They both had beaten each other. So we gave them a race disappointed to get beat as far as he did. Yeah. But new in the back of my mind and I pulled some of the partners immediately after, I said, he's a dirt horse. He's not a synthetic horse, and he wants to go around a ground. And it just seems like obviously his dirt format has been legit. He's only made one start of the synthetic, and that was his worst start. So to me, that's a complete toss. But he's really excited. Yeah, you mentioned the second place finish in the sapling. It had to lead there in mid stretch and just got caught late, but had a I mean, he definitely was a mile race. He went. He went to he covered a lot of ground in that one. We'll say that. But he went yeah. But the mile of 16th British fraternity runs forth and obviously right on role just crushed him that day. But you guys did not have the best of trips in that race. No, he kind of stopped me. He was kind of acting up a little bit in the gate kind of calling at the front of it. Nothing terrible, but when he broke, he kind of left a little flat foot in the second jump out of the gate. He actually stumbled if you washed the head on. And then a 13 horse field with everyone's coming a lot of people coming out of sprint races. Everyone's got gas. Everyone's going to send to try to get position. And we just got annihilated pinch back the last Sophie did everything that she could possibly do. I mean, it's giving that break. Stayed on the ground. Stayed on the rails, saved all the ground, took dirt, pass horses. If we were, I think it's a different story if we're 5 or 6 clients closer down the backside versus where we were. I mean, the overcame a lot of adversity, and those horses they were legitimate horses. And he ran, he ran by most of them. So. Yeah. Sophie mentioned does been on the horse for three to last four also has written tough to tame, but we're speaking before entries, the show's going to come out. I think right after that tree. So do you have a plan yet for riders for the two horses? So if he's going to ride tough the team for Ryan ritten, Jeff gasner and the rest of the group and then florent Giroux is going to ride American sanctuary. Gotcha..

"Again, our schedule for the week. Chris Davis going to join us here in just a couple of minutes to talk about his British cup horses and more. Vick stauffer is going to join me on tomorrow show. A little bit of a horse player Thursday on Wednesday. We'll talk a lot about the BCP C tournament stuff with Vic, but also just kind of his general approaches to breeders cup and kind of this event, the replays work that goes into it and all that. So I think you really enjoy that conversation with Vick coming up on Wednesday's show. Jessica is going to join me on Thursday. We will discuss the two year old races a little bit more of a handicapping type show Thursday and get her opinions on some of the two year old races. And then Friday, the jury guys will be in here. We'll talk about the Saturday races. Do want to before we get to Chris Davis, talk about the awful tragedy that happened in Kentucky with the passing of Miguel meina, who was tragically killed in the car accident situation on Sunday Night Miguel was just 34 years old. This reporting coming from the a politic report said he was struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian on interstate 64. I haven't seen any further explanation of the events surrounding it makes you think that maybe he was, you know, had a flat tire, or was on the side of the road for an accident or something. Again, you know, I don't want to be conjecturing. Is that a word? But that one would think that would maybe be the case. 64 is, of course, the freeway that's between Louisville and Lexington. I mean, a lot of the Kentucky horsemen drive it on a daily basis. When Keenan's going on or when church is going on, so I'm living Lexington and so it's a massively traveled road, but certainly a massively horse racing traveled road. The police said that the death was an accident and Miguel a native of Peru came to the United States when he was 17 and has been a successful writer pretty much since he began. We had Miguel on the show would have been the summer of 2020. So just a little over a year ago and talked to him about his career. And that was shortly after he'd written Tom detach to a win in the Stephen foster stakes. You remember Joel Rosario, who was the regular writer, couldn't ride that day and so may not rode and put on a great performance. I think that was certainly a shining moment his career two time grade one winner Miguel maina was one of the test stakes and also the Stephen foster back when that was a grade one before. With pool play. Back in 2011, 37 graded stakes in all his most recent one, the dick memorial at Delaware park aboard with dalia who is an ale style horse alfalfa of course trained at Tom steyer, I'll stall talked about Miguel in some of the news articles that came out the other day, just talking about what a great guy he was, you know, I had when I had interviewed him, you know, I went through Jose Santos junior who was his agent. And Jose told me he said, you're going to love Miguel he's a really great guy and he was. Like I said, if you want to go back and listen to that interview it's out there in our expansive network of shows. But just so sad. I mean, it's just, you know, we're reminded on a pretty regular basis that life is quite fleeting, our time here is not guaranteed it is unpredictable. There is tragedy. There is danger there is all that kind of stuff, but you know, there's beauty and there's all these other things that make life worth living. But when things like this happen, you obviously get frustrated and questioned that sometimes at least I do. Just how young man with a wife and kids and seemingly doing everything kind of right. You know, gets taken away. And his wife and kids have to go on the rest of their lives without their husband and father, which is so, so sad. You know, we had that in our community here in Oregon with Eduardo Gutierrez Sosa back in the spring and you know, obviously this was not a riding accident, but an accident nonetheless. Just terribly sad. Thinking, you know, Luke kind of was looking through a lot of Miguel's achievements. I forgot he was on Dennis's moment with the famous 19 length maiden win. Back at Ellis park, but obviously wrote a lot of really, really nice horses over the year international star was one that was kind of a Derby trail horse for him. Kerry street was a very, very nice nice type back in the mid 2010s. I'm captured he rode to a couple of graded stakes wins, pool play, I mentioned champagne dioro was his test stakes winner and of course Tom steyer was the I believe the regular morning rider for Tom's day top, but Jose did post a GoFundMe page if you're wanting to support Miguel's family a little bit in this tough time. My Jose Santos. Twitter, let me give that out. Look it up here. It's just at Joe Santos 33. I'm sure if you look up Jose Santos junior, you'll be able to find it and again, obviously, his family is going to be going through a lot and I'm sure, you know, he was certainly a primary income creator for them, and so it's just, you know, it's bad on a hundred levels and it's just very, very sad. You know, look, I went and looked up his Instagram and it's just a lot of pictures of him and his daughters. You know, they're young and he's obviously a very proud dad. It's just brutal. There was just a really, really brutal thing to hear about and sending good thoughts to his family and of course everyone over in Kentucky, obviously when you're a part of the racing world where we're a part of a big, you know, community, but there's also these little small communities at each jurisdiction and the modern technology of AWS and simulcasting and everything we get to, you know, we get to watch these riders and trainers and stuff from afar, but when you're there doing the daily work, you know, you think you come in across past with these folks a lot more and obviously want to send wishes to the entire Kentucky racing community along with New Orleans where Miguel often wintered down at the fairgrounds. Rest in peace Miguel maina, and we will think and remember you fondly forever. We will take a quick timeout when we come back Chris Davis is going to join us. It is a Tuesday edition of the JSON beam horse racing podcast,.

"November, the second and good show coming up ahead for you. I think we have good shows coming up for you all week long. You know, sometimes we'll throw out a stinker. Is there sometimes you guys probably listen to the show and go, wow, that was that was not good. But you keep coming back and I think this week we're gonna give you 5 good ones. I can never guarantee that, but this week, I think we got you set. Chris Davis is going to join us today a trainer saddling his first two breeders cup horses on Friday during the juvenile portion of the card. In the juvenile, so we'll talk with Chris about both horses about going out to the breeders cup. We checked in with him. I believe we had him on for the first time in 2018, so catch up with him just on how the bar is doing and developing and having a career high season and starts winds, earnings, one is first graded stakes this year over in Arlington park. We'll talk with him about all of that. He's been a Chicago based guy, you know, obviously for a lot of his life because his family grew up in racing there. We'll ask him what his plans are for going forward, obviously with racing and Arlington park coming to a halt. Will he stay at Hawthorne in Chicago? Will he go somewhere else? We'll talk about all of that with Chris coming up a little bit later on. A lot of news to talk about, seems like there was breeders cup news and announcements coming up at all times on Monday and you know, the draw, I had to go to grant's pass, like right as the draw was happening. So we're recording just before the draw, but did see a number of horses out. It was announced yesterday, I believe, or Sunday, rather that rattle and roll was not going to be out to Kenny mcpeak his contender for the juvenile. 8 easy, who was a really nice winner at Santa Anita the day I was down there. It will not be running in the juvenile Phillies. And if you remember Chino pecola last week, that was his, that was his big anchor. He kept saying like, this is the one horse. I'm really excited about. You know, that is a part of what happens here during breeders cup week. There will be scratches. There will be horses that come out and it's just a part of the deal. It was funny. I was talking about, and I don't know that this is a fragility of the breed kind of thing. But I was talking with somebody and they said, you know, how do the horses get in such good shape? When they're really only out exercising a half hour a day in the rest of the time they're, you know, they'll walk a little bit, but a lot of the time they're just in their stalls. And I'm like, that's a good question. Because I felt like the early days of COVID, like, that was my life. I'd go walk for 45 minutes and then I would lay around all day. And I was not getting in good shape. I remember, I think it was Vladimir syringe. There was an article about him where he came from like the human exercise training side of the world. Into horses and when he initially started he trained horses like he would humans and it didn't go very well. So it's obviously a much different thing because they're clearly in great shape. I mean, you know, muscles and cardiovascular fitness is tip top, but, you know, fragile. I mean, I exposed so. But it's just it's a part of it. The injuries or the you know, I mean, I think d'amato said with ain't easy, just, you know, she's a horse who always gallops really well and he wouldn't galloping well then another horse was lethargic. It's just kind of how it goes. Another piece of news that came up breeders cup related was that Joel Rosario is going to ride echo Zulu. We talked about the Ricardo Santana drought of sorts, you know, going over the meet at keenland and obviously ask us is a huge part of his business and asks in slumping as well. The. I'm not surprised by the decision honestly at all. I saw some people really had strong emotions about it. And I think whenever whenever you I should say mind control, I also forgot to mention mind control out of the operator's cup dirt mile. But I think whenever you take a ride or off, there's usually some emotions with it. And I get that because it's, you know, there are certain times where you just know, right? Like you give a couple of bad rides and a row or even just one bad ride and row. There's other times where you know, you know, hey, this might only be a one time thing because the regular guys on the sidelines or whatever. We see it a lot with The Kentucky Derby. You'll get maybe a lesser named writer who hasn't been on that stage before in the connections will say, well, you know, we just want someone more experience. And it sucks. According to Jay permanent from the daily reform Steve asks and said Joel Rosario, who would have written a and EZ because they had an easy scratch will now be aboard echo Zulu, who figures to be I would think the favorite at this point for the juvenile Phillies and Ricardo Santana junior written in the three previous starts, and had written very well, you have to think this is a reflection of something that's going on. You know, Twitter is like I just, I never, you know, you see so many people that claim they're insiders and they know what's going on and most of them don't. Everybody hears rumors and stuff like that. And I saw some people were like, oh, you know, there's more to this. It's, you know, and maybe there is. You know, it could be that he just doesn't want a cold rider on his best chance right now, because you have to think that in, like, this is in Ricardo's head, right? We talk so often as horse players about process, and about doing things right and getting through the downward variances, which inevitably are going to happen when you're a jockey or a trainer as well. Like nobody even 25% riders and trainers go through lulls. But you know, for 80, when you're riding a lot of good horses, seemingly good horses, again, you know, aspens cold too. You know, that's that's something different and it's gonna get planted your brain. You know, you don't pick a winner for a lot of, you don't have a way to take it for a while. What are you gonna do? Sometimes you're gonna like literally just go put two bucks to show on the most logical horse there is just to see it cash. I've told the story before about my dad. Sorry, it drops them. But my dad go into the window, buying a $50 win ticket, going back and canceling it. And coming back and I said, why'd you do that? And he goes, I just wanted to remember what it felt like for the teller to give me money. Because he just hadn't had a winner in a long time. But like, you know, and it happens in baseball happens in every sport. You try to keep you know, hey, I'm sticking to my process. Sticking to my process, but at a certain point, you're gonna press or you're thinking about it. And I would think that writing is a career where you can't be doing a lot of thinking. You kind of got to be reacting and of course you're thinking and you have a plan. But I think that and I guess I would I've experienced this in the race calling gig, like I make a mistake or I have a day where I'm just kind of feeling off and I'm like, I'm behind the race a little bit. You start thinking about what you're doing wrong, and you start worrying, you start almost calling defensively. And I think that can come into play with riders too. And so I'm not surprised that they made the switch with Rosario available. I mean, I'm just not surprised by it. You know, does it stink? Sure. Is he taking him off his other? Intended mounts. I haven't heard, but I don't think so. And so it'll be interesting to see how this all plays off, asma has 6 horses in the breeders cup and you know, obviously is coming into this as cold as can be. So it's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out, of course, we'll follow that more as we get the official entries and draws, which should be out by the time you're listening to the show. And we'll talk more about that as we go throughout the week..

Portland Police Bureau Develops New Team to Reduce Shootings in the City

"Bureau has developed a new team to help reduce shootings in the city. The enhanced community safety team will investigate shootings. Deputy Chief Chris Davis says. The goal is to stop the few suspects who are responsible for the most shootings composed of three police sergeant's 12 officers and six detectives, who will focus full time on investigations involving gun violence in our community, the gun violence reduction team was disbanded. Last year because of criticism that it targeted the black community, Davis says they use community input to help create the new team, so they avoid the problems of the past.

"What Chris Davis could do when he's on, you know, and if that comes back, it's gonna be hard to see him hit 40 home runs for another team, and I think there's you know, certainly a possibility that that's what is gonna happen because You know, there doesn't seem to be any real reason that he had the fall off that he had beyond just something mechanical. He hadn't quite gotten worked out 100% yet as of last year, So you know, if he makes that come back, it will be a little bit hard to swallow on the flip side. Where he played and the fact that he was a right handed hitter, you know, was somewhat redundant with what they had already in the roster, and so if you were going to move somebody, he's somebody that you could replace with the guys you had internally Plus. Now you bring in a Morland. You know who gives them that power but from the left side So you know, from a baseball perspective, that's that's fairly easy to replace in terms of what their personnel was already set up as an Andrews even though he's not the Elvis Andrews, probably that he was five years ago is still an upgrade over what they would have had internally at shortstop. At this point, you know, within a gallon being a year so away from being able to be, you know, Major league ready, and Andrews is a guy who's gonna handle the defense. Well, especially with Chapman, able to, you know, bring in a little bit of rain. She's got the big arm. He could be the lead off hitter and give him a little bit of speed up at the top of that order, And he's also a very infectious personality, You know, really teammates just absolutely love him fans and loved them. So you know, I think he's somebody who, if you're going to take away a guy who was is important to that clubhouse is Chris Davis was bringing someone like Andrew's back in that deal was important because you're not kind of Saying that you're giving up that kind of presence in your clubhouse here, replacing it with a different kind, But he's still you know, a very well respected and sort of, you know, brings that kind of gravitas to AH Big League clubhouse that Davis does is well, it's all good point. And it's funny. If you look at the team. Now they've become AH War veteran presence team right with mentioning Elvis Andrus. A lot of these guys have been around now for a few years and Have had playoff experience and had some success in the playoffs. So all good stuff The one element of the team that I think is still sort of a question. Mark is his pitching staff. Right? AJ punk is supposed to be the big number one prospect and thean Juries last year. Sort of, I think, Derail some of that a little bit and 2020 think we don't just like to call it a wash. Sort of wiping away and not really remember it. But what is 2021 getting mean for AJ Park? And how is he heading into camp here in 2021? Yeah, I mean, I think until he ramps up to 100% game effort, we won't know because last year when things fell apart for him, it was because he got to that point where all of a sudden it was supposed to be in game and that's when the you know the shoulder really started barking on him, So he had a bullpen session yesterday, Melvin said that he looked really good, free and easy. Wasn't holding anything back or babying the shoulder. He spent all off season working with Jesus Luzardo down in Florida at Eric Kress is sports performance Jim or trainer Center. Whatever you wanna call it, and you know, Chris. He's got some of the best pitchers in baseball, You know, they're kind of peak performance, and so you know, if his body's and shape the amount of innings he's going to be able to throw on what role he's going to be in, you know, sort of you think remains to be seen. If he's healthy and in shape to give them even 60 innings. Those they're going to be 60 pretty high value innings. I think you know, it could be. One of those things were now that they have all this veteran presence in these extra bullpen guys. That they've just signed. They could start him. Maybe even in the minor leagues pitching. Maybe once a week is building up slowly and then towards the end of the season, when things really start to pick up. Maybe he has enough innings to kind of come in and help him get into a postseason And maybe even be a guy like a Julio areas was last year for the Dodgers and and kind of come out of nowhere and be 34 innings and key games throughout postseason and performances, So we'll see. I mean, he's got that kind of talent to be. That sort of X factor for them, But now they're not counting on him. And I think that's something that it's important when you're coming into a season like this one. Yeah, look like their roster was gonna look much differently. Two weeks ago, all of us said they look like they can still like, really be competitive in the ale West. So, Melissa, Thanks so much. We'll catch up with you when we get closer to opening day and check back in on the roster, But keep doing your thing.
