"So then I went I watched that show there's only one season of that and it was canceled Patriot has two seasons. This has one season and this was on epic's. Fantastic very different style, but very similar tone. I love banking's Li I mean shit a he's like and Ben Kingsley, not to spoil anything is in like sexy beast Ben. King. I was just GonNa say that's my favorite I mean. So it's Yuck can rad. I was just having a conversation about him the other day because this argument and maybe you and I may have already talked about this. So but the idea that like iron man three is better than I think people remember it to be. One of the best marvel movies and his performance in that film. Shows, Jimmy. How good of an actor? He is like yeah, and there's a one shot like a marvel one shot him just about the mandarin that is you gotta see it's online I believe my friend who wrote Ironman three actually wrote and directed that he actually did a superhero show in BBC on the BBC. His name is drew Pearce. His show was great as well as all these superheroes living together Gosh what was the name of that but the one shot with Ben Kingsley gives you a lot more of that character goofy like, yeah like bengals. Is he can. He can pull off. Looking appearing as though he's a menacing super villain and then he can peel away and be a bumbling actor underneath it. You know he's very, very fun and very fun to watch and is really terrific in perpetual grace as is all of those people I mentioned and Steve Conrad also has a like a group of regular players that are in all of his shows. Kurt would Smith -Tario Quinn his brother, Chris Conrad. And they're all fantastic Kurt would smith. Between. I feel like weirdly because I watched robocop because he was such a part of Patriot and perpetual I feel like I've been seeing a lot of Kurt with Smith in Corinth is very strange. I mean, I love a good Kurt wordsmith role by the way that show that. My friend is called no heroics and it's raining. Yeah. The same idea essentially superheroes just taking craft duty active. superheroes. Show yeah. Really Fun. So that perpetual gray show is on epic's which I had to get in order to watch it. You can get. So I, am is on add on, right? Yes. Do and so as a result I ended up watching and being obsessed with. Epics has a Laurel Canyon documentary that's all this music scene and Laurel Canyon I want to be very clear right now the documentary I'm talking about is not the Jacob Dylan Laurel Canyon Documentary Jacob Dylan made Laura Kenyon documentary that is very available. and. So if you look it up, you're gonNA find. That is the one that Howard Stern is talking about or is the Jacob Bill in the one that I believe the Jacob Dylan one is the one they were talking about Howard, stern although somebody else on Howard. Stern did say you know there's a better one and that is what I'm talking about I think it's Called Laurel Canyon it's it's four hours long. It's too. It's a two parter. It's only available right now on epic's which is weird. But you can sign up for a free week of epics if you have apple TV or if you have whatever you, there is like a promo. Yeah. and it's awesome and there is so much in my life right now in quarantine is. Like, I spend so much time watching consuming stuff and like, and then crying during most of it. So this one, there's so much Joni Mitchell footage in this and I'm I'm obsessed with Joni Mitchell. Yeah. I was just like screen shotting and take I was like Thaba being and and and filming stuff. Was Oh. No just for me. So I, can have it was amazing. I was never seen this footage before of Joni it's great. So it's a great I really enjoyed that documentary touches on so it's still Laurel Canyon music scene so I'm looking at David crosby stills, Nash, Young Joni, Mitchell and the monkeys and everybody the turtles, all of these musicians at around the same time congregate and start living in. Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles as a neighborhood because it's relatively cheap but still central enough to all of the kind of music clubs that they would play the whiskey or the troubadour or any of those places. So it is awesome. Island eight the one just again even though you're very clear that's on epic's it's the one directed by Alison. Ellwood so she is. And she actually was behind American high, which is something I saw long long time who. Are. Urging. Jessica. And I pitched with the first. The first deal I ever we ever made Jessica Saint Clair, and I sold a show to comedy central that was based a little bit on that America high show, which was a TV show in which we would have played documentary filmmakers Filming School Kids America Venom East, right? Yeah. But then we regress and start to like want to be in highschool arse like we start to be the story like the popular. Friends with Saint Clair hang out with them. 'cause the popular girls never liked her, and then my character gets to be like it gets asked to be in a band and I'm so I'm so as the series would have gone on, I would be playing in the battle of bands and she would wrong with the popular girls. We unspoiled. We've been talking about back to school movies and not to bring up unspoiled. But the we interviewed amy heckling and wow, she was talking about fast times and was so interesting because I had forgotton that Cameron Crowe did that he went back Oh. Yes. School and and like became a student and befriend these people to get these stories and actually WanNa go read that book. I'd like to read that like she said that the original script for fast times was much more like porkies and then and then and then her and cameron like both love the stuff in the in the book. And they're all of this and then basically just took already putting the book and made the the script this really you know why that movie is so good move..

Laurel Canyon Joni Mitchell Kurt Ben Kingsley Howard Stern Jacob Dylan Laurel Canyon Jacob Dylan Smith Cameron Crowe Jessica Saint Clair BBC Steve Conrad drew Pearce Chris Conrad Saint Clair Jimmy Jacob Bill bengals amy Thaba

"Those Bill Gates complete without the go to all TV's the L. G. always get perks up is the number one the views twenty nineteen they'll deal with the nine for ATV over billion recall is beautiful study I would you could see it right out deleted gorgeous vocals I don't know how big drive off the actually the part with the proper seven Finnish TV and gorge check about L. D. dot com for more information I guess I am often amazing that you memorize all of that this really is broke one of my I don't believe so welcome to memorize musical different nations the game call game one bell the minutes it's and I move on the they're all great products a bus you chop lady nine hits all goodness it will mark a lot to get it to in the in from a football perspective you know pats in a you know take on the giants they could be rainy and windy Foxboro not this really break down I keep are you concerned at all about this patriot offense well for what reason it's just because well because the the I mean Brady doesn't look as he does he he he yeah I I've seen some instances this year were throws he usually makes that he's not making with the same consistency as a year ago or even two years ago I I don't I the defense is fantastic I mean maybe I'm wrong that's always asking you more do they are is there any reason your pap and to be concerned about this offense well I would I would you say that I mean every year with a new look patriot it's something different right every year and normally you know you get through the first month of the season and they've got two losses on the record million of both worlds for over here anyhow as the figure it out there's no coaching staff that does a better job of developing their players during the course of the season and so you know we've been trying to retire Brady for ten years now and he's still just the best quarterback in football so but I don't be concerned with that up and and there so like I said about developing going over the course of the season and one thing that's been consistent with them did you watch their players at the beginning of the year and then in the end the year the card is just get better and that meant to their coaching who the knowledge that they have would be a choir over the course of the season they're the third is the fat neck up football team you know it all football they execute better now won't block the view they will not just execute better than you might want to take the whole night and we'll end up beat and and it's consistent so Intel I. P. Brady just not being able to play anymore you know and the part be sixty when that happens I'll never bet against the patriots yeah he on that haze so mark about the Browns right so you know we were talking a lot early in the week moves tonight about kitchens about Freddie kitchens I mean you know listen to free right now to get all these weapons you know all the hype of that that has been around may field even since we came out you and stuff like that and everything I mean you think kitchens in over his head a little bit I mean give us a break down on your thoughts on on Freddie kids yeah well I think I mean I think there is any time you become a first time head coach in that game the other night between stamps Golden State Cleveland it was like you know Kyle Shanahan was speech in the high level four hundred class quantum physics classes pretty seasons with the with the introduction a group of followers we all look awkward because when you lose any DA right it's just like that that's what it feels like to be a part of it you know it being enamored with power the enamored with the wide receiver position being enamored with backed up you know in this whole off season when they when outlook wired OBG they went on why are you know more pieces to the puzzle one of things that went on notice that I talked about a lot as they got rid of their best in your office one is eight seven back and they should spend most of the time and I think what you know I want to know cold again please the last few would be dismantled the Carolina Panthers and I was really impressed with Baker Mayfield I'm off with you know with the ball down the football field you're not that time anymore and so when it comes to having protection issues the potential problems I think the thing you have to understand its protection it is as much about the office the widely used about hope and you know we like to go to the five guys up front in the war breaks out well let me just tell you that if you got that fifty Bucks on the game of forty five hundred games as you know that your class action of the you don't think your past protection up by Colin plays one in the fall giving offices wanna chances you'd recommend changes that Walter thank you don't see the hall of justice it's awful man and Superman and and whoever else you know the wonder twins who were worlds and all of that I used to watch cartoons Saturday morning in and they couldn't they can't walk but the one in this week but not for forty five times or whatever the case may be so your protection really comes down to me but having a plan of the coke and how we're gonna protect all but the one you have to protect our quarterback and that didn't get that doesn't cost about enough anytime there are multiple factors gain is not there's four five six at a game seven sacks and gain that much about is much about your cooking staff maybe more about coaching staff there is about your office want to know more we spend a lot time earlier that we talk about the skins you know you one there you know you were great plan for that Washington franchise what about the state of that skins franchise or where they sit right now well it's in that in their owners in mass and you know you look at the week right now I mean this is crazy when Mike Shanahan was cooking there and you know there's not in my opinion is circumvented and emasculate every code that were hired so I don't know why you you know I don't I don't know why openly expect somebody to be successful in Washington as long as that guy continues to own scene but after my training and put together on that that he had outstanding and he had shown the great he had not look for and Amir to different other guys in the office forty years in the park fast track to be a code is right now and you can't figure out there because the staff is good you can't figure out the next young head coach dynamic yes with the expenses that the but I will call image on the page he was thirty years old had gone to the rants on doing random names and I walked out of that meeting going to come up with nothing in my life that is ever met in my entire life and I will tell you this in this is this is while we thought this might be just because people will people who energize will when they walk into it if people energize room when I walk out of it and then he walks into a room and energize Africa will like you your record of what you were to go play easy dynamic young because you had need in your organization you had him on your staff and you don't even recognize it because you're too busy doing whatever it is you do which I have no idea what you do yeah I don't know we does either you damn right thanks so much got Richard Sherman all at balls all that stuff what he said you know it before the before the game on Monday night that bacon and shake his hand and you know where I'm going all this meanwhile in the being that guy just lie them Sherman lied and and it's like it's funny we were on the yes and moose was talking about some good points like it just goes to show that we as a kind of a football society already just look at but I could type because I want but we look at Baker almost in a negative light all the time and we just all believed that even shake this guy's hand I don't know what's worse that Richard Sherman line that we will just think the bakers like this truly does arrogant bad kid that you know I mean yeah what you'll take on the whole Sherman stuff yeah well the answer is accessibility Jake man absolutely going to know though only I think he's a yeah you know Sherman told the Bologna and and is obviously look bad and like what are they what about you not think that everything caught on camera I mean like a case in the world we live in I don't care where you go everybody's you know everybody's trying to collect news and everybody will forever got a cell phone camera but if you're doing Monday Night Football they got a family everything for crying out loud though I don't know what you were thinking on that and it why you would report back that that's ridiculous but it does go to show you the amount of victory all the players in people in general have a big may feel to the attitude you know there's not a there's not a single it seems like every commercial on television is is a bigger may feel commercial you know and it doesn't seem like you turned down anything this offseason and I gotta be honest with you I can on a I I look at the Cleveland Browns and look at the height of Israel all the overages come out of that franchise in about out of his attitude and I will route by up the honorable it is that I hopefully route again and I think the NFL players are I I know the local players who would say why we were shut that kid up and so on that you know that's for that you put your forearm your style in many respects and and you know still as much is rich German look like an idiot for doing that I thought the most of the vitriol both both big of a deal Hey mark we appreciate the time this morning will continue watching fox and it continued success and and good stuff with all the the home getting Mattel game tips we appreciate the time this one as long as you guys do well they got it there you have it in those big LG T. "Jersey, but they haven't reached here, and the sun is out, and it looks like after a very dire forecasts for around this time doesn't look like it's bad at all. There's no plows. It's sky is blue. The sun is out and we're getting ready for. For baseball. Well the. The MP's are out on the field. Chris Conrad behind the plate Mark Carlson at first, Jeremy, re Hackett second and the crew chief is Bill Miller. And he is at third base lineups have been exchanged going over the Brown rules, and we'll be back with the start of tonight's game after this. This is the WFAN New York Yankees radio network. The warriors side of views with the players throughout the week machine. Draymond green, I think to a hit where he was saying, well, why are we such big favorites in this series? No disrespect, Draymond house asking myself the same thing. So. I think we've found out a little bit. Why in game one? The rafters are very, very live underdog in this series. Not just because this home court advantage is real. I mean, this is a real homecourt advantage, that crowd is amped up. I don't know if they're taking their cues from Drake or not. You know, if it's necessary for him to be walking up and down the sidelines. Like he's a high school basketball coach. And then massaging Nick nurses shoulders of ending, privately they probably told him to tone it down a little bit. Whatever the case may be if you're Rafter, fingerling, I don't care who we're taking our cues from this place is off the hook for basketball right now. I don't know basketball's doing north of the border outside of Toronto. But wow, they loved their basketball up in Toronto. If you're in Canada call. I know we're on up in candidate five two one, two, four CBS is the rest of Canada sort of following the queues on this thing especially with two American teams in the Stanley Cup finals, Saint Louis and Boston. Toronto is off the hook for their basketball man, that I know you talking about bucket, lists things almost feel like the bucket list thing with respect to raptors basketball, wouldn't be to go to a raptors game. It would be to go to a raptors game but watch it outside in that big courtyard area that they have with the huge movie screen going on, that looks like a party man, that looks like a lot of fun. So I would be happy for the raptors if they won this thing again, I'm on record as saying, I want the raptors to win, but I want them very specifically to win this series by trailing early. And then winning it with Kevin Durant coming back. But here's why here's why just the the gambler in me with like for Toronto to win this series. I respect the move that they made for Leonard, I respect them pushing their chips to the middle of the table. Not a lot of NBA teams make the move. It's difficult to make. And you can say what you want. And if you wanna look at it down golf course they would trade it for Leonard. He's maybe the best player in basketball right now and has been in the playoffs. I know I can say right now that I like what they did by going getting quite because that was the hard decision to make not the easy decision. A lot of people laugh at that now because of where we sit right now for rewind a year ago, Kuwait Leonard was viewed as a in some circles, as malcontent, who Matt torpedo, the Spurs. The Spurs were still pretty decent. But certainly he was a much bigger story than anything that the Spurs had going on, on the court last year. Even though they were playoff team. Colli Leonard was an injured kind of viewed in some circles, as a cancerous presence or non presence as a word. Dude was up in New York while his teams playing basketball in San Antonio into Marta, rose. And let's not forget to Marta rose and the guy they traded for Leonard. Was a fixture. He was a staple. He's a franchise icon up in Toronto, probably still is. So if you're telling me the year ago, the easy thing to do was to trade a franchise icon to San Antonio. For a guy who you're not even sure you're going to be able to keep after the season's over would have been very easy for Toronto to take a look at the east with LeBron knowing that LeBron was going to be leaving Cleveland to go to LA and say, you know what? You know what are big pain in the ass has been the last four years while we've been a pretty good team? We can't get through LeBron. We'll LeBron's going to be a Laker. We don't have to get through LeBron anymore. That would have been the easy thing to do these to do hold onto the Marta Rosen. Let's not let's not push our chips in. Let's not gamble on Koa. Why what if we only get him for a year and we get knocked out in the second round again? Will you be getting knocked out in the second round with the Marta Rosen? And let's face it has nice of a player's demar derozan is you got to play to the upside, if you're going to win a championship even if you're going to win the east you've got you've got to put a team together that isn't about just it's, it's not about staying on sixteen against the face card. You know what I mean? You blackjack players, you gotta do things that have upside, you gotta do things that have some risk built in. But knowing that your ceiling, you may bust. But you gotta do you gotta go with the solution that has the highest ceiling and clearly a solution, where quiet Leonard could be healthy is the one with the highest ceiling. I like see gamblers get rewarded and the Toronto Raptors gambled. Easy thing to do would have been to say LeBron's, leaving the east, we've had a pretty nice team the last couple of years. Even with respect to the trade, the easy thing to do would be to say we fired the coach. There's the change that we made that would have been easy to do, just fire the coach and then hope that a new message is enough to give your fan base. Hope if Kawhi Leonard leaves the day after the season is over and becomes a clipper, or Laker or whatever something other than a Rafter. This trade was a success. Because guess what? Kawai is gone. That's not good. I'm sure they'd like to keep him but a year later a bunch of salaries come off the books. Kyle Lowry Marcus all. I mean, they're, they're going to be flush with cap space in, I think if you're a free agent if you're free agent, that's got buddies, who were free agents or if you're a players looking to try to force a trade somewhere. I think Toronto shown itself nicely as a basketball city through these playoffs, really through the last couple of years that the fans fault that they couldn't get over the top with Lowry and derozen and beating LeBron. So happy for Toronto. You're up there Toronto. You're listening. I know you're probably getting ready for game two. But if there's any of you listening, they're happy for you. Eight five five two one two four CBS. Let's, let's go to the phones. Here's a call north of the border. We started off this hour in Calgary Alberta and talk to Aaron Aaron. You're on CBS sports radio. What's happening up in Calgary, man? Aaron you there. Erin going once going twice and his comment said raptors fever sweeping the country. Maybe he just realized holy crap. It's only an hour, they'll tip off of time to talk to this radio guy. Erin, callback will get you right up. Eight five five two one two four CBS. In the meantime, we go to Charlotte and I believe this is big, Don what's happening? Big don. Big John, Huston. Thanks for taking my call with nice talk again. Oh, by the way, we're getting bigger weaker paths, Indianapolis in population. Graduations, man, that's huge. You know, I agree a hundred percent with what you were just saying and I was listening to you about Toronto. But I think the ratings were down because everybody expects Golden State to win. And, and I think they were just rusty. Now, I think they're going to win tonight. And, you know, when I heard, you say you predict it Toronto that scared me. I'm worried. Now, get you really got me worried. I think it's going to come through with this and. Thanks a lot, Sean. I see your show and you're, you're, you're the man appreciate you. Big don. Thank you. I'm assuming that it scared him because he thinks I'm smart. And here's the thing, Don. I'm not as smart as you think. I am. If you're picking Golden State, and I think rafters and seven I wouldn't feel any worse or better about the whole thing. I am hardly a barometer for how this series is going to go now game one did go, my way, so but I'm taking the warriors tonight. My money's on the warriors thing. I said rafters in seven. So it's gonna be a back and forth series in my mind. But we'll see Don if what you're saying is true, Don saying the ratings were down in game, one because the everybody expects Golden State to win like everybody thought us in going to be a serious golden say's. Why do I need to watch this Toronto Zion? The odds would tell you that a lot of certainly better felt that way. If that's true. Then the numbers should be back up the numbers, maybe they're not LeBron versus Golden State levels in game two, but it shouldn't be as precipitous drop as we saw in game one from last year. If what you're saying is true done if people didn't tune into game one because they thought Golden State's gonna win this thing. Then game one by definition should make you more intrigued in this series Toronto show. They can stand in in not just trade blows. But they closed on Golden State that was my big concern about Toronto in this series, especially picking them. In seven was. Do they have guys that can close a game out like Steph curry and Klay Thompson into a lesser extent mongering and ultimately Katie when he comes back down the road? But in game one really, really staff you know can close out a game. Like Steph could that was my big concern in the answer was, we don't know if I can because you see them and Marcus were too busy doing. They didn't need coli to be closer in that game. I mentioned Aaron in Calgary. We we go we go back to him here in Calgary Alberta Canada for take to Aaron. You're on CBS sports radio. What's up? Good. Because only one. Basically. Professional basketball. Religion. But I assure you that all Canadian. All. Very many, but. I'd like to remind that. Stake in the game. And it was not the best player in the. Golden. I think there's a note because they think it's not. Very, very good. Out of all the teams they believe the only one that was going to be able to push state. Yeah. The phone call Aaron hit yourself connection. Sounds like you're out there in the middle of nowhere in Alberta. Good call though. Appreciate it. The, the I want to hear from Canada. I really do. I want to find out how dial in the rest of Canada is outside of Toronto. Certainly if you're in Toronto. But are you guys is Toronto Canada's team? And I know they're Canada's only basketball team. But are these the is the country behind the Toronto? Raptors Aaron says, yes. Are you just getting behind them? Now, look, they've had a good team the last couple of years has Leonard brought a new level of belief though up there in Canada. I really truly wonder how much the whole this, this fever of basketball up in Canada specifically in Toronto, but certainly across the country. I wonder how much of this is resonating with Kawhi. If there's a player in the NBA who you who you can least read, how something is affecting him psychologically, or emotionally. It's leonard. That's got to be completely exasperated. If you're a raptor fan, who's holding out the slim glimmer of hope that he might sign a long term deal there. It's holding out that hope that collide Leonard could sign a max deal and remain a raptor, and become a raptor legend over the next five years. He's a raptor legend already in one season. Comey. Right. He's the reason you're in your first NBA finals. But that's got to be super frustrating. Like e there's no emotion, you can read into. I mean, the guy is just a robot. He's a cyborg. Lot of you wanting to weigh in, and let's get you guys in eight five five two one, two, four, CBS works more in, in the next segment..

"Dwarf is our guest is we continue here with sports and more. All right now, you come back in Bob hallway is a shorttimer. He's just the two years two years and maybe one year too long. So here comes a guy named Don corio who was from the west coast and everybody liked Don coryell and everybody thought he deserved a chance. So he gets a chance. But he brings along another guy with him. And this is maybe where your career started to go in another direction a guy who led the country receiving as an end. And now he's a line. Coach talk about that relationship with coryell saving the offense and baby basically saving Jim Hartz career. And then he comes Jim Hannifin. Well, you gotta understand something. This was three ESPN. This was pre three hundred channels. There wasn't a guy on our team that I knew that had any idea who Don coryell was he was a coach at San Diego State. He might as well have been coaching in Honolulu or Japan. Back then California. We didn't know any right? We didn't know anything. And so he shows up and he's now the head coach of of the cardinals. And he has back then coaching staffs were much smaller compared you know, you see it now or teams have. One coach. Yeah, we'll back then. Don, coryell had three offensive coaches. The wide receiver quarterback coach was rod. Our the line. Coach was Jim Hannifin and the running backs coach was joking. And for five years that staff remained intact. And by the way, before you asked me a question, I will say if you would have pulled any of the players, we would've I guarantee that we would collectively said the guy with the least chance to be a successful head. Coach would be Joe Gibbs. Just because Joe is. Of the group at all. That's a good thing. Joe wasn't a racehorse. The glue factory Alaska law. Yeah. But how about that for that election of town incredible? And when you talk about those guys, you think at that point because there wasn't as much information available. I mean, you can dial up anything anytime these guys really had to coach people up, and that's a great difference compared to what you have now. Well, Joe Gibbs coach two thousand yards out of Jim Otis. If you if if that didn't indicate that he had hall of fame potential is nothing else. So I'm sure committee room. They're like, okay. Why is Gibbs he has his name? Hey Costa, Jim Otis for thousand thirty six. Unanimous three point nine yards. Well, he didn't have a rush over twenty five yards at year. He broke out. We have we have one class. We have one classic piece of footage. Jim Otis breaks into the open. He's got like sixty yards of open space in front of you. And there's a there's a shot where he turns and looks for Steve Jones because he wanted to lateral before. You know, we only laugh about Jim Otis because I'll tell you something tough Hombre of God he was tough and he never lost yardage. That's the thing that you appreciated about Jim Otis. He he was he never bounced it to the outside. We used to call him the king of cutback a was going between the tackles. And you know, what I appreciated that? You know, when you talk about Jim Morrison that and been blocking for him. Let's talk about that offense in line. They marched you guys down for eight sacks given up, but actually it was seven because one was actually was six. But okay, we're good down. Tell me about it. Well, it was the right? The one the one they got Jim Bakken Jim Bakken and got caught behind the line of scrimmage on a fake field goal. And they ruled that that was an attempted pass what a crock so that was one of them. The other one was we are mopping up against the New York Jets. It Shea Stadium. We're being and they they take heart out of the game. And they put our backup quarterback in guy named Gary quasi Gary Keithly quasi was here earlier. He was also to ponder too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They put him in to mop up. He audibles to a pass and get sacked. He gets. So we are standing it to fifty yard line of Shea Stadium back then. And I am restraining Dobler. Chris Conrad is going to beat him to a pulp now, this might have been great footage. I should have let him go because it's not every day. You see an offensive guard beating the holy crap out of your own quarterback at the fifty yard line. But he had it coming. Speaking of visa we had legitimately. We gave up six sacks. And I'll tell you the one thing we did which was really amazing. This was a fourteen game season back then. At the end of seven games halfway through the season. We'd given up zero somebody got sloppy. And we went seven consecutive games unheard without a sack, and I know some started away on Jim Hart. It started away on everybody a little bit. But one of the things about heart. He had a quick release me was he could cut it loose with anyone. Well, he was you knew where he was going to be. He wasn't Fran Tarkenton's is not going to be an and people go. Well, Jesus isn't that make it? No it makes an offensive lineman. It makes your job easier. When you know where your guy there's nothing worse than running your guy field knowing full. Well, you're taking him out. Right. The perimeter of the pocket, and then the two of you run over your quarterback because he's on some mad scramble. So yeah. It was. But we were very proud of that we were that good pass blocking. Speaking of which you said physically assault offensive line play. Then compared to what we see. Now there were literally there were salts taking place on the field. I mean, we everybody knows the story about Conrad Dobler. But the way Jim Hannifin taught how to block basically if it was done anywhere else. Somebody would be arrested. Well, Jim Hannifin one of the first times we were in a meeting with him. He's the told us he said I want somebody to go get the book where it says defensive linemen are meaner nastier tougher than offensive lineman. I need somebody to show me where that's doctrine where that is the way it's supposed to be. He said, let me tell you something. I don't believe in it. And he told us that we are going to be the. Nasty physical dominant group on the field not the defensive line, which is the way. I think everybody's coming up. The defensive guys are the tough guys, and he didn't want to hear about that. And so and back then we weren't allowed. You know, the the rules for offensive lineman were kind of archaic we compared it today. I mean, we weren't even allowed to have our hands open. We couldn't hit somebody with an open Paul because that was against the rules. There's a picture all the time where I got my fists clenched. Well, that's how we had to keep. That's how we had to keep. That's how we had to block. Well, they could by remember no promotional photographs of football guys. They have their together. Exactly. Right in front of your stern of hula. That's that. Thank god. I came all along a little after that. If you notice most of these pictures are in colored facemask, that's a good thing. You got to go a step farther. But that's your right? So Hannifin said, well, wait a minute. If we have to play with a closed fist. Well, let's use it. And because you could and we did you could haul off and and and punch a guy as far as you as you could if you could keep yourself under control at the same time, don't overextend lose your balance. But there are a lot of times when a guy came in to any of us, and if he was foolish enough to put his arms up in the air, we were going to tickle his liver because we were we were drilling and right in the gut, and you know, what those arms they started to come down. "Can really every day. It's been dot com. An couple months ago. I published a deep dive into my favorite movie. So I married an axe murderer. Oh, yeah. Yes. That too. So. Yeah. If you want to check that out, I wouldn't hate it. All right. I swear the last I'm going to talk about for a while. But after Markaz anti pumped up patriot again the entire decided this was a weekend. We were going to watch the whole thing and watch the whole thing we did two seasons. Eighteen episodes. I believe right. Yep. Eighteen episodes. The reports are true. This is a really good smart show. And as everyone who talked about it before Mark, Jeff, and I forget, which one of the ladies was talking about it, the all sort of had difficulty describing the show to other people, and I get why I mean the best I can do is. It's like a Koan brother movie that's on Sola. Getting an adrenaline shot straight to the heart. You know, it's like parts by show. But it's also a cop show too little bit of like HBO's berry in its DNA. But it's also like like if you took that description at face value. It sounds like a kind of a depressing very gray show. And at times, it is dour, but also very winning at the same time. Like, even when it goes dark. I think a lot of that has to do with the lead. Michael Dorman plays John, and he does immense amount emoting within a very narrow range of emotion. You know, like, he's he's a sad, man. He's got you know, post traumatic stress is depressed, but he's also a spy part excellence and this cast around him really elevates you'll his his role. We got Michael Tournus tar tar mentioned Lou while ago. He's. From Manhattan to right? Yeah. And orange is the new black. He plays pipers brother on that. Right. And so he's a great counterbalance to the character. John he plays his brother. He's a junior. Congressman he loves DV. Spec- boys is always wearing like traveling anywheres tracks. And but I want to say a special show to Chris Conrad as Dennis he is the craters brother, right? So this guy is he works at the cover workplace that John the spy sort of gains entrance to in order to be able to fly to Luxembourg to do spice stuff. And he is like this needy adventure seeking self proclaimed best friend of John, and this guy takes would have been a really annoying character. In turns it into something oddly endearing even know if you put all his deeds, and what he says on paper, he comes off as a real jackass and dick. But there's something about this guy. The way he preaches the character. It's not quite a mand idiot. But it's close, but it doesn't cross that line. That is just like such a well thought out and considered approach to this character. And I think that speaks to the show itself. Like, it's really well thought out it's sort of one of those shows like kneading bread kind of like advances of bid and takes two steps back and kind of goes like that. And cycles, and it's very satisfying to serve sort of have these storylines play out sort of like Yohan eighty percent per episode chunks. And then he little backstory on the episode before you little story on six months before for the characters are really into shit with the current storyline. Very satisfying and Markle's Zandi was right. That the third episode of the second season was a real tour to force really marquee things happen. I won't give anything away..

"The things that he did to get that job. And then. You know, he just rubs his boss wrong way. One of his bosses Leslie, but. Lawrence. Mccraw play by job is also producer on the show. He likes John, so they get, they get on very well. And then Peter echo by played by Julia enriching. 's. He. He's a funny guy. When he tells people people's names echoed by, I think is a joke, like what's your real name? Because they can't believe that someone has the last name echoed by. We think about crane headless horseman. Not naked stuff. So Peter echo box, a little touchy about that. So don't forget. I told you that. John had pushed somebody into traffic just we can get their job. That person comes back and he starts to he? No, he works slowly. He comes back. He gets the job anyway, and he and John have to share a desk. So of course, Jon is frazzle by this. It's a reminder, something that he did. And I gotta tell ya. John Taverners care character, aka John linkman. I like him a lot except for the one thing. One thing about him, I didn't like and I don't like. I don't mind you being melancholy. And said, because of what you have to do, it makes the show so compelling watching him and his deadpan look. You can just tell he's hurting and like the people closest to him as father and brother just don't really have a clue. And so I didn't like is when he pushed that guy into the traffic's, we can get a job that's the beginning of the show. So that's not even a spoiler you're going to see that. That's the only thing I didn't like was that because I, when he did that, I thought he killed a guy. So I was like, whoa, who is this guy? But that's not the case. But what kind of person are you? How can you be? Sure. Does do that to somebody for job that you don't even want is this part of your cover, but you find out when John interview for the job, you know his handlers didn't give them all the information that he needed. What we find out later that. Well, that's because you know. Incompetence I'll say, I'm not going to give that away. I'll say incompetence and there's just more stuff going on. But Tom, John's dad. But. Just. Watching the end Sombo characters in how to interact with John. Especially Chris Conrad who plays Dennis McLaren his office, but his only friend that work. Well, like about him, is that you know, he's a guy who's I guess, so-called guy next door, Mary twins. But you can tell that he's not completely happy with us live. So now that he knows that John is basically like a spy, he's very excited and eager sometimes over eager to work with John and. Even though John is kind of like just this walking sociopath. Who might be porter lining on psychopathic behaviors? Well, he might be a mixture of the two. He is fine of Dennis because he sees the dentist is just what you see is kind of what you get for the most part, Dennis is just is there. He's present open these intense. He likes to work out a lot. He's all about the workout, and this is all about the workout. So I mean, can you do you think? Can you imagine two people striking for friendship after meeting the bathroom and you ask the guy, hey, can I have your urine? So I can pass this test because I'm a spy and I'm not going to pass if I don't borrow your year and then the other guy be sure why not. Let's be friends. Now, all of that is just bizarre. Very bizarre. And it's just you see that John has a wife Alice, and they're part because he's working. She doesn't know exactly what he does for a living. She just knows that it's important. And when you see her, she's just really, she's seems to be so sweet and so nice, very nice, smile page and you won't have to ask myself. Okay. Well, maybe so John is upset because he's just not feeling what he's doing. He'll do it because he's a patriot, but also because he loves his wife deeply and he can't even be with her, you know, because of this job. So he's got two jobs in, you know..

"Talking about the great show on Amazon prime call patriot and just wrap that up. I'm just going to say this about it this more to the first episode that you need to see. I'm not gonna tell you, but because of, you know. John's dad's network, his teams that legit. You know. Creates there's repercussions that creates a chain of of events or turn of events. And I just have to be made and things just get kinda worse because of that. But the show is riveting. Like I said, so let's let's Claire. Smith great care issue. Watch out for when you watch the show tablet play by Michael China's. John's brother, hilarious, just a real character. Nothing like John. And of course, my dorm who plays John tavern, he's, he's amazing. Gil bellows interesting plays Lawrence lacrosse. And. All the safer now. But the show is very fascinating is funny and it's dark and the stuff you laughing at you like you never thought you'd be laughing, but is done such a subtle dry way like, well, this is a trip. Oh, and dismal. Clarin? Yes, giants office buddy who wants to becoming his friend. Like John's only friend, McMillan. Yeah, play by Chris Conrad excellent, active at a great job. Funny. So this. Yeah, this treats in the show. Definitely. So what's again? That's Amazon prime with patriot and starting two thousand fifteen down two seasons. So I don't know if I'm gonna get those. I'm definitely going to see if I can find out, but I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to finishing binging on it. Does it just gets more and more interesting than me. Definitely. So insecure, half hour TV series on HBO. I remember watching it for the first time out of curiosity, and I got hooked term one of my good friends onto it. She loves it. Next, we know we saw it become a phenomenon ISA Ray to real name. Apparently she hit TV series on YouTube awkward, awkward, black girl. That's what she got her start. So she created this show with Larry Wilmore stars, her Yvonne orgy, Lisa, Joyce. So ISA lives in LA. She works for this now, profit company called, we got y'all. Yes, folks. I'm, I'm not even making this. That's what they call themselves, but we got yo. Oh. I mean the and she's working for their their company. Their main focus is helping young students. Try to keep you positive Trekkie focus and keep you out of trouble. So that's where ISA works. And she likes job for the most part girlfriend. One of our best friends Molly Carter played by von orgy. She's a lawyer. And she's going through changes at her law. She doesn't know they respect her to give. Give race. They don't want to do the micro partner. And then he says, boyfriend. "But what I really enjoy about the show as just how bizarre and funny it is. And you have a secret, no government agent spy who doesn't like his job. I don't think he doesn't like either one of his jobs. That's what I'm going with. But like I say, I think he's a freight to tell us debt. No, he seems to be more passionate about music, and then he's got this brother who just. His brother just seems to be in the whole different reality. That's all I'm gonna say. I want to say so much more about him, but I will say that Michael, Sharon is playing tab as a care to watch his character development. He's really his character is one of my favorites. Kurt was Smith at this point, can do no wrong as Lesley Clare. He's great. I really enjoyed the first. Flashbacks we got with him. Man, I was priced that was dying. And it's a. It's it's fascinating Elliott of female. She plays detective Agatha albums. Oh, oh, yeah. There's McLaren player by Chris Conrad. So good. I mean, he's this guy who's happily married his kids at home, and he's very good at this job in piping business. He means John and it's just like a gateway out SIS, like a temporary escape for form. You know. He. He wants to work with Johnny wants to, you know, because he thinks John is this assigning spy, and why wouldn't you if you're this middle class guy Mary with kids and you got this job that you like doing, but as you know, your life is routine. So one day a man approaches you in the bathroom and it's not to have sexual, but he wants to use your so he can pass the drug test about it. So you just like intrigued. You see the way John Kerry's himself. And after time-to-time, Dennis will give John advice because John. You know out the gate is just not doing too well, McMillan. But once again, you know his father and his team times team, we're supposed to set John up and give them other stuff he needs is just not the kind of fallen short a little bit. So it's like jazz character has the ability to be like JAMES BOND, but it's just not feeling like I say, it's just a really good TV series, and I love it in the story line because I never thought about having the spy who else has a job. He hates both. The only real join his life is, you know, his wife and his music. You know, and hanging out with his brother. So John and are close. That close brothers. So when John Ed his whole face lights up. So that's good. I mean, so it just seems like. Saving your countries. A lot of hard work understatement right. But. Things definitely escalate and you find out that, like I said, John had to go work at Macmillan's because he because this kind of overseas he needs to reach. And he only do that through working from Mellon. So he's got a fake to me, makes it. So you know what that is just like knowing that Leslie claret is boss doesn't really like him. He's feeling the pressure. I don't know. I'm gonna have a job in. He's feeling that pressure fired and. You wonder that as well. To manager. Some other surprise that you don't anticipate happening. Within the story. So for example. Jon knew he had to. Since stuff. For the government, but how do you classify..

"Their, residents that, was because, of, the passage of. Proposition sixty four which legalized recreational marijuana in California It came time for what I voted against it. There wasn't any factors away suddenly there's competition, coming from. Large scale growers the price It seemed like for the last four years or five years every year the price of. A pound of weed would go down by, about one hundred dollars in the year before last, drop to and then from last summer to this summer it went from like fourteen hundred to six fifty but none. Of the expenses had really go down what happened between summer two thousand seventeen and twenty eighteen is full legalisation took. Effect last summer summer. Before legalization were in years pasta Heine kept the number of plants to safe limit I wanted to expand so I put in a whole new garden and. Spent a whole bunch. Money in basically spent the. Bulk of the money I had saved and, banking on The price wouldn't fall as bad as it did but because of fell so bad With that new, garden I just I kind of broke even when I spoke to Jonah in. June he told, me he was thinking to get out of the. Cannabis business completely and of course growers weren't the, only ones seeing a big change Position those growers in that at least eighty. Percent of my, income is directly derived has been directly derived from A. Legal defense, for marijuana cases over. The past twenty years okay so my income is down eighty percent right now you, know welcome to the club Chris Conrad is a. Cannabis author who got paid as an expert witness at. Trials and here's really, happy to be losing that work a couple of the most. Important things in this initiative proxy four was it. It release people from prison and is clearing up their, records and the other thing is that it protects parents. The children can't be taken away from medical marijuana patients which is something I've had to fight within court do so I think those two things just for the social Justice. Issue that was enough to make me support the initiative even if it. Had done any of the great things. It did still he's sympathetic to what's happening to small farmers like Jona and I would say that what's happened there is a result. Of the local governments got not implemented prop sixty four. The way the voters intended it to the new law let's local governments. Set the conditions for issuing cannabis licenses the price of selling pounds of marijuana has gone down for the Farmers but it has remained. More. Or less the same for people buying it economics. Marijuana are, extremely over valued by. Bio thousand percent from what it what it should have been paid worth localities have, done in the state of done is instead of. Making it so much less expensive than allowing people to. Get into the market, and so forth they've made it more expensive to try to. Keep children away from marijuana and they've tasked with. The money that used to go the goers and now, it's being collected by the labs by the packagers by. The distributors by the state by the city every us is taking that money so that's why the price hasn't gone down it should have dropped the line but did people. Treatment is a cash cow whether you got the traditional market or these. Got the cities and counties in the. State today people think if it's like a cash cow and it's not it's just a plant the natural shift from the traditional market. To the regulated market hit a lot of people in. A way that was deliberately painful deliberately I mean the local governments I wanted to screw people and. Instead of giving them what they needed which. Was the opportunity to come above, board they said we're gonna shut you down, for Joanna that has meant he can't go legal even if he wanted in cinema county the, board of supervisors voted that any new cannabis cultivation permit applicants must operate on parcels, at least ten acres in size that's bigger than what Jona has so now Jonah has a different plan.

"Dwarf is our guest. As we continue here with, sports and more all right now you come. Back in Bob hallway is a shorttimer he's just the two years two years and maybe one year too long so here comes a guy named. Don corio who was from, the west coast and everybody likes Don coryell, and everybody thought he deserved a chance so he gets a chance but, he brings along another guy with him and this is. Maybe where your career started to go in another direction a guy who led the country receiving as an end and, now he's lying coach talk about that, relationship with coryell saving. The offense and baby. Basically saving Jim Hartz career and. Then he comes Jim Hannifin well you gotta understand something this was three ESPN this, was pre three hundred channels There wasn't a guy on our team that I knew that had any idea who, Don coryell was he was coach at, San Diego State he. Might as well have. Been coaching in Honolulu or Japan Back then, California we, didn't know any right we didn't know. Anything and so he shows up and he's now the head coach of of the cardinals and he. Has back then coaching staffs were much. Smaller compared you know you see it now or teams have One coach yeah well back then Don coryell. Had. Three, offensive coaches The. Wide receiver quarterback coach was rod our, the line coach was Jim Hannifin and the. Running backs coach was joking jobs And for five years that staff remained intact And by, the way before, you asked me a question I will say if you would have pulled any of the players we would've I guarantee you that we would collectively said the guy with. The least chance to be a successful head coach, would be Joe gifts Just because Djilas counselor analogy Quietest, of the group at all That's a good thing Joe was a racehorse Lockheed. Visit, the glue factory a. Lot sooner or yeah But? How. About that for that is that election, of talent incredible and when you talk about those guys the think. At that, point because there wasn't as much information available I mean you can dial up. Anything, anytime. These guys really had to coach people up oh yeah and. That's, a great difference, compared to what you have now well, Joe Gibbs coach two thousand yards out of Jim. Otis If if if that didn't. Indicate, that he had, hall of fame potential with nothing else I'm sure committee room they're like okay why is gives he was his name hey. Costa Jim Otis for thousands of thirty six yards area voted unanimously three point nine yards Well he didn't have a. Rush over twenty five yards that year he broke out a we, have the we, have one class we have one classic piece of footage Jim motorist breaks into the open he's got, like sixty yards of. Open space, in, front of you and there's a there's, a, shot, where he turns and looks for Steve Jones because he wanted to lateral the ball And you know we only laugh about Jim Otis because I'll. Tell you something tough, Hombre oh God, he was tough and. He never lost yardage that's the thing. That you appreciated about Jim voters. He he was he never bounced it to the outside we used, to call him, the king of cutback because it was going between the tackles and you know what I appreciated that You know when you talk about, Jim Morrison that men been blocking for him let's talk about that. Offensive line they marched you guys. Down for eight sacks given up but actually was seven because one actually. Was six but, okay we're down tell, me about it well it was the, right the one the one they got Jim Bakken Jim Bakken, got caught. Behind the line of scrimmage on a fake. Field. Goal, and. They. Ruled that that was an attempted pass. What a crock so that was one of, them the other, one was we are mopping up against the New York Jets it Shea. Stadium we're, being and they they take heart out of. The game and it put our backup. Quarterback in? Guy named Gary. Quasi Gary Keithly quasi was here earlier. Also to ponder too yeah yeah yeah yeah they put him in the mop up he audibles to a pass? And get sacked He. Gets so we are standing at the. Fifty yard line of Shea Stadium back then And I am restraining Dobler Chris. Conrad is going to beat him to a pulp now this might have been great footage I should've let him go because it's not every day you see an. Offensive guard beating the holy crap out of. Your own quarterback, at the fifty yard line but he had it coming speaking of visa, we had legitimately we. Gave up six sacks and I tried the one thing. We did which was really amazing this was a fourteen game season back then At the end of seven games halfway through. The, season we'd given up zero somebody. Got sloppy and we went seven consecutive games unheard without a sack and I know some will started away on Jim Hart it started away on everybody a little. Bit but one of the things about heart. He had a, quick release was he could cut it loose with anyone while he was, you knew where he. Was going to be he wasn't Fran tarkenton And. People go well Jesus isn't that make it no, it makes an offensive, lineman it makes your job easier when you know where. Your guy there's nothing worse than running your, guy field knowing full well you're taking him out right the perimeter of the pocket and then the two of you run over. Your quarterback because he's on some mad scramble. So yeah it was But we were very. Proud, of that we were that good pass blocking speaking of which you said physically. Assault offensive line play, then compared, to what we see now there were literally there were salts, taking place on the field I mean we everybody knows the. Story about Colorado voter but the way Jim Hannifin taught how to block basically if it was done. Anywhere else, somebody would be arrested well Jim Hannifin one of, the first times we were in a meeting with him he he told us he, said, I, want somebody to go? Get, the book where it says. Defensive linemen are meaner nastier and tougher than offense of lineman, I need somebody to show me where that's doctrine where that, is the way it's supposed? To be he said let, me tell you something I don't believe in and he told us that we are going. To, be, the next Asti. Physical, dominant group on the field not the defensive line which is the way I. Think everybody's coming up, the defensive, guys are the tough guys and he didn't want to hear, about that and so and back then we weren't allowed you. Know the the rules for offensive lineman were kind of archaic we compared it today I mean we. Weren't even, allowed to have our hands. Open we we couldn't hit somebody with an open Paul because that was against the rule You know. There's a, picture all the time where I got my fists clenched. Well that's not what. We had, to keep that's how we had to keep that's how. We had to block well they could by member though promotional photographs of football Well yes together That's how you had to break right in front of your. Stern of. That thank God I came all along a. Little after that if you notice most of these fixtures? Are, in, color Got a face mask that's a good thing Yeah we've got to. Go a step, farther, but that's your. Right so Hannifin said well wait a minute if. We, have to play with a closed fist well let's use, it and because you could and we did you could haul off and and and punch a. Guy as hard as you as you could if you could, keep yourself under control at. The same time don't overextend lose your balance but there are a lot of times when, a guy came in to any of us and if he was foolish enough, to put his arms up in the air we were going to tickle his. Liver because we were We were drilling and right in the, gut and you know what those arms they started to come down there Deardoff, is I guess stick around we're covered back.

"I mean christopher doesn't have nothing else to do if he's making the quickening there's a lot to take in right missing recast i think where my eyes went right away and my heart started the feel it a little bit was i felt bad for the actor chris conrad who was recast and rule of johnny cage for all of two minutes i went into this movie and you know there wasn't a lot of press about it i hadn't read a lot i was reading entertainment weekly and game magazines and entertainment magazines google and yet somehow went into this not knowing the cast wasn't back i had no idea that even christopher lamb bear i knew that was not the same sonya blade but for the two minutes he was on screen i thought chris conrad might have been lived in ashby it doesn't really matter does it when they crack your neck as your one and only acting moment and again johnny cage my favorite character my entire drive to saint louis i'm like i can't wait to see johnny cage getting some fights again they broke his neck they broke my heart yeah well but sometimes can be sometimes that can really pull you in maybe this is the darker more dramatic mortal combat no it's not push him side and set up the fact that we're not even going to have a mortal kombat tournament this is not based like the other one on people fighting one another it's sort of a mission to stop the outer world from invading even though they lost their sore losers and they're just going to take six days and hope none of the other gods notice and just take us hostage yet they keep saying wait we won the tournament the doors closed and new raden is like what closes can also open again the what's the point of having a tournament could just do this yeah that's awesome worst losers ever at one point raid it goes and cries to his god parents i guess it says hey the breaking the rules and they said don't worry about it basically yeah this is going to take any convention any hopes and dreams you may have had from the first one resolving and picking up the story that we just saw.
