"Out of the blue and he's like, Greg Olsen, he's really good. I like him a lot and I'm just like, yeah, this has been like for a month now where have you been? We think everyone's in the bubble and it's just not the case. Yeah, normal people don't think about announcers. I mean, that's one of the weird parts of our job. And then you're like, oh, that announcer is really good. I'm like, sure, yeah, that guy. Okay. Fine. Now, I've been ranting and raving about this like a lunatic for a long time, and I get some people tell me like, you're beating a dead horse, give it up. And then I get over it. People talk about it more and talk about it more. So I never know what to do, but we need to get into the rules analyst situation here in Mike Pereira. I think the rules analysts, of course, the board is the most overrated thing in sports broadcasting. So that's my stance on it. Last night, there were two things that stuck out to me. Now, I'll say this. I wrote a big column about it after the title games because CBS, they go to dreams gene territory every 30 seconds. And it takes over the game and runs the flow. And I wrote this. Fox goes to Pereira sparring, which is much better. The problem with Pereira is he will never say the rest are wrong. He will never ever say the refs are wrong. So there are three things last night. The first thing was you mentioned the gain well play in the beginning with the elbow, where everyone who was watching the game saw it. I don't know why they have to bring in para to say his elbow was short of the goal line. If you have eyesight, you know that. There's no need to bring him in there. There's no need. So that's my little pet peeve there. Am I a lunatic for that opinion? No, it's like the thing NBC did on year for years on Senate football. Remember they're like, we have somebody to interpret the rules. His name is Chris collinsworth, and for most of these, he can just do it. Right. And then the second thing on the devonta Smith catch on the sideline with the helmet. He came on, spoke for 5 straight minutes, big word salad. I

"Those are just two that I can think of off the top of my head, but do you think Brian dabel wants to run like 15 different personnel groupings in a game? No, he has to. And Mike Kafka, like that's a lot of work. But you're not, you're not getting style points. You're not making it beautiful, but you're doing some really interesting stuff. And I would like to hear Chris collinsworth talk a little bit more about that on Sunday Night football. Okay. Do either of those teams play this Sunday Night football. I don't know. But that's where I think everything's going. Death of the system. It's gone. I like it. All right. Forever. I'm keeping an open mind. I'm going to wrap this up by just giving everyone because I want to be able to the people should be able to contextualize what's happening out here. There are 5 Super Bowl contenders right now. There are two dark horses. Yes, there could be a Nick Foles, eagles type run, weird stuff happens, maybe some team members out of nowhere and but the 5 Super Bowl contenders bills forty-niners eagles cowboys chiefs, that's a no particular order. The two dark horses are the Bengals and the ravens. Everyone else, if you make the playoffs, just be happy about it. That's right, suckas. I don't know why I did that. Sorry, curry.

"And wait a minute, wait a minute, here comes granite. The 2022 breeders cup world championship series gallops its way on to our TV screens for the weekend of November 4th and 5th. Our that's right, Michael, the breeders cup a yearend championship for North American thoroughbred horse racing will consist of 14 championship races this year totaling winnings of more than 13 $1 million Michael. Hey man, that's a lot of hay for the winning horse and joining us later to tell us all about this year's breeders Cup championship weekend will be none other than breeders cup president and CEO drew Fleming. Straight ahead on the Bloomberg business of sports show, but first, we begin with a story that follows arguably one of the greatest soccer or football players of all time, that being Argentinian soccer superstar Lionel Messi and what he plans to do with life after soccer. Absolutely. And joining us to talk Messi's newest investment venture we have Buenos Aires bureau chief Carolina Milan, joining us from Argentina and quick take correspondent Alex Webb in London. Guys, thank you so much for joining us here on the Bloomberg business of sports. Thank you for having me. Thanks for having us guys. Let's start with Lionel Messi and Carolina. This is what you wrote about. Football superstar Lionel Messi is creating a holding company to invest in sports media and technology globally. Tell us about that. It's very exciting news because there's been a lot of expectation about what message next moves might be. Of course, for now everybody's focused on the World Cup, but certainly he's going to be looking to make waves in other ways in sports. And so what we know and what he launched is a holding company that is going to be investing in sports, media and technology companies and companies that are in the intersection of all three. So, you know, Alex, I wonder if you could help me out here because for me, you hear a lot of athletes. I mean, I'll give you some examples. Michael Jordan with sport radar. You hear Chris collinsworth with PFF, you know, a lot of former pro athletes have moved into the private sector, invested in sport technology companies and done rather well, but you've got Kevin Durant. You've got Chris Paul. You've got to win, right? I mean, everyone is doing this. What makes Lionel Messi different? But if you notice something with all those names you just mentioned, they're all American. It is something I in fact just purely coincidentally and it's going to be a clanging name drop, at least for Europeans out there. I interviewed Harry Kane, the England football captain on Friday. And I mentioned the fact that Messi had just started or was getting into his own VC firm and his comment was in the U.S. people have been a lot better at this. American athletes have for a long time had a side hustle, been building their business on the sides. They've got something to go to. When they retire. So the fact that obviously Messi is one of the best remunerated athletes in the world, he was plenty of capital to play with. Does he have any particular investment shops? I would hazard the answer is probably no, but if he can be something of a rainmaker when it comes to raising other external fur and funds and bringing you casting a bit of light on his investments, then that's probably the advantage that he brings to the table. I wonder if we could talk about the timing of this decision, right? Obviously he's announced that this is going to be his last World Cup and cutter. And so I'm just curious what your thoughts are on this is now the right time for Messi to be making this type of announcement, making this type of business endeavor. I think there are a lot of people out there not just Argentina fans who was like to see you messy crown his stellar career with a World Cup win. I don't honestly think that Argentina necessarily has a particular seller team with him being the main exception to that. I frankly think that the timing on this is probably less to do with him and his retirement plans than it is. Who approached him, right? I'm sure that COVID came in who was the person who is actually heading up this thing. I'm sure he pitched him the idea, right? And they've probably been talking about this for a little bit of time. And then he said, okay, well, let's pull the trigger and let's make it happen. Frankly, there isn't a huge amount of venture capital flowing around at the moment. You know, purse strings have been tightened as the yields have increased in the bond markets and elsewhere, which means that actually the appeal of going into venture which is high risk and low guaranteed no guaranteed returns. If you are someone who has a bit of capital, therefore it might be an opportune moment to get into the space because you might be able to get slightly better deals. That's probably got as much to do with it as anything to do with his own career ambitions. Do you love me a thought? Just to jump off from what Alex was saying, we know that one of the companies that are part of playtime's investments match data dot com has have a minion who is the person that would be running playtime. He's also the cofounder of this startup match datacom. The people around Messi have been very tight lipped about what exactly the company is going to launch. What's actually the plan that comes with the startup, but we do know is that they're planning to launch it before the World Cup begins in November. So that means that's got to happen in the next few weeks. And so it seems to me that they're kind of paving the way to make the big announcement about this startup and to be able to say, here's one of the startups like Messi has invested in. And maybe to do that, they needed to make sure that people already knew that he had a VC firm that was starting to bet on soccer ventures. Carolina Milan, Alex Webb, Bloomberg's own thank you all so much for talking football with us and we really do appreciate it right here on the Bloomberg business of sports

"Previewing the NFL season with Chris collinsworth lead game analyst for NBC Sunday Night football. He'll be on the call along with Mike tirico to kick off the season on Thursday, September 8th for the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams. And on top of doing Sunday Night football for NBC, Chris is also a majority owner of pro football focus, or PFF, which has become one of the best known NFL analytics companies. And Damien, we were talking about his app and how many fantasy football fans can't live without. Yeah, you really can't, you really can't play fantasy with that access to PFF. I mean, Chris, you have four children. You know, your son Austin was a former football player, team captain at Notre-Dame. Your other son Jack also attended Notre-Dame and he's become a broadcaster, right? I believe he's back at NBC covering Notre-Dame football. I mean, have you ever had the opportunity to work on air with your 27 year old son Jack and do you have any plans to do so? We sound so much alike that people would have no idea which one was which if we ever did a game together. So I've been told repeatedly any thoughts you may have that one day you're going to work with Jack. You can just forget about it. We're excited around here. Yeah, so Notre-Dame opens up with a phenomenal game against Ohio State. Unfortunately, that one's not on NBC. But because it's at Ohio State, but they come back and week two and play Marshall and that will be the world debut for one Jack collinsworth working with Jason Garrett and calling the Notre-Dame games. So yeah, we're a little pumped about that. I love that. We're going to look forward to that. I have a question for you that that's more bigger picture and something that I've always been curious about. Whenever we look at football clubs or any sports franchise for that matter, the NFL clubs are always on top, right? Because we know that this is the sport that everyone gets excited about. And all the other leads are emulating. But when I look at the most valuable franchise in the NFL, it's the Dallas Cowboys. Why is that when the team hasn't won a Super Bowl since the mid 90s? What makes it so valuable? Yeah, well, a lot of things go into that valuation too, right? The stadium that they build. It's the ownership of the parking. It's the practice facility. I mean, they basically build an entire city around their practice facility. The star and as much money as Jerry has made off of the football team and off of building the stadium, I've heard that the money that he's made off of owning everything around this practice facility is like the biggest thing he's ever made money on. And having been on his yacht a couple of times. I might be prone to believe that to be true. But the Dallas Cowboys for better for horse, I can't always explain it, but if you gave NPC the option of any game that we could call every single week of the season. I think the numbers would still tell you that if you did nothing but cowboys games, you would have the highest rating. Interesting. Yeah, it's unbelievable because of exactly some of the things that you just said. They have not been in the Super Bowl in a long time. They've not won a Super Bowl in a long time. But in part, because of Jerry and part because of a generation of people that are football fans today who grew up watching Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin, when those three championships, we still have so many cowboy fans around the country and even those who hate the Dallas Cowboys. Guess what? They tune in to watch them get beat every week. He's watching. Yeah. I mean, it works for us both ways. So whatever reason you tune in, we're just happy you're there. I gotta talk to you about the booth. If this is the first season in a while, where Al Michaels will not be your partner, Al Michaels went on to Amazon, but Mike tarika will be there. It's kind of like, okay, I'm gonna trade this bar gold for this bar of gold, but you're gonna, it's gonna be a great season for you guys. Talk about that though about Al Michaels and the change to Mike tirico. Yeah, I mean, Mike tirico was signed a long time ago and to be the eventual replacement for Al Michaels, right? Unfortunately, nobody had told Al Michaels. It is current age, and I won't give that away. He's still be great. I mean, Al Michaels called the Super Bowl last year and was so fantastic. All season long, it's just a remarkable human being. I've been around Al for a long, long time now. We're the best of Friends. And I have never met a human being with the memory that that man has. So I go all week and I take all these notes and I watch all these films and write it all down and I have 50 pages of notes that I do the best that I can to try and cram in this peanut brain of mine and have some retention for on game day. I'll takes it on Saturday morning. I hand it to him. He reads all 50 pages. And I swear he knows it better than I do. I don't know any human being like, I truly don't. He's an amazing guy with what he can retain. And of course, the fact that he's been at every major memorable sporting event over the last 50 years leads to some incredible relationships and stories. And so yeah, Mike takes over and Al moves on to Amazon and he'll work with Kirk Harvey street over there and they're going to be fantastic for the first ever sort of digital broadcast. But lucky me, I get my trico who's already done dozens of years of prime time television. So it's pretty amazing. You can move from Al Michaels right to Mike tariko and free blessed to be able to do that. You know, Chris, I mean, look, every year, there are always these players who massively outperform their pre season expectations. I mean, you're a PFF. Who is this year's Cooper Cup? And Chris, if you know, don't tell him because I'm in the same league as he is. And we're both drafting what? Next week. Chris, you can tell me because I'm not in their league. And I will maybe share this. Well, since you guys are whispering PFF anyway, I'll just whisper a couple of them to you here. But yeah, I think the one that probably comes to mind first of all is Christian McCaffrey. That's

"Prominent voices that co host of NBC Sunday Night football prime time TV's number one TV show for 11 consecutive years. Chris collinsworth, Chris, welcome to the show, sir. Man, 11 years is like, where did the time go? It's been unbelievable. Actually, this is, I think my 14th year on the show and 11 straight years now or ten straight years is the number one show on TV. So it's been a nice nice little run here that we've put together. Well, Chris, I mean, look, we dinosaurs remember with clarity, your epic Super Bowl matchups versus the niners, your unbelievable 260 yard game versus Baltimore back in 83, but most of Gen Z knows you as the face of Sunday Night football on the voice of Madden O 9 ten, 11 and 12. So I think for our audience, what I think we'd love to hear is if you could reflect briefly, not just on your professional on your collegiate accomplishments. I mean, how do you kind of redefine the wide receiver position at University of Florida? I mean, I mean, am I right, a young Steve spurrier was your coach back then? He was the offensive coordinator and actually Mike Shanahan was another offensive coordinator there. Oh, wow. Mike Shanahan was 26 years old. He came in there. We had not won a game the year before when O ten and one. And Shannon comes in. He's 26. And so after the games, he'd want to hang out with the players. So we take him out to the bars, and we wouldn't get carded, and he would. So to give you some idea of how long I've known some of these people around the league, but yeah, spurrier was amazing. Just one of the most creative offensive minds and I actually started out as a quarterback there in Steve's for your came in, watch me throw the ball one day and I became a wide receiver the next day. So it gave you some idea of where all this has led by my claim to fame, I guess, at the university of Florida was in my very first game that I ever played against rice university 9 yard touchdown. I threw a 99 yard touchdown as a quarterback, which has become like the greatest trivia question. Who holds the NCAA record for the longest touchdown pass and you literally would have to go down 27 million people before you got to my name and so if you know any answer to that when you can win any bar fight. Chris, I got to ask you about some of the big themes that will be top of mind as we begin this new NFL season and I can't stop reading about deshaun Watson and how the NFL and the Players Association have finally we should agreement. We understand it will be an 11 game suspension without pay, a fine of $5 million and this mandatory evaluation by behavioral experts with some kind of treatment program. Who comes out of this looking okay, who comes out of this looking bad? I don't think anybody comes out of this looking okay. It's a tough day for the National Football League and deshaun Watson, it's just disappointing. I have to tell you that I did not see this coming. I met with deshaun Watson, a lot of times and I actually had made the comment that out of the top ten kind of guys in the league. I would have had deshaun Watson on my list. There was a moment in time when there were hurricanes and Houston or something happened flooding whatever it was. And there were three ladies in the worked in the lunch room. Obviously didn't have very much at all. And all of them had their houses ruined. And he, if I remember the story correctly, gave his first paycheck ever for those three ladies. And I remember what an impression he made and so this is one of those that we all make mistakes, but this one fits on the high end of the mistakes and so you hope that deshaun Watson through all that therapy and all the things that he'll be going through can get his life back together and move forward, but for the National Football League, there's nothing that any of us want more than to bring women into the family, right? Whether it's NBC, whether it's the NFL that that's the greatest, the growth potential for the National Football League, the more and more and more that we're seeing women involved with football, whether it be coaching, whether it be officiating, whether it just be as fans. And that's a really exciting prospect for all of us. And this is a setback. I mean, there's just no question about it. It's a setback. And I think it's a big reason why you saw Roger Goodell and the NFL want to maximize the penalty and yet what they also didn't want to do was land back in court. And so they go back in, they reach some kind of a settlement, but to open this football season with this kind of story is not what any of us wanted. One of the big players this season. And I'm speaking as a fantasy football junkie, just like Damian. If you don't have Jonathan Taylor, as you number one pick running back for the Indianapolis Colts, you know what? You obviously had too many beers. Second

"8 for the colts. Wentz under center. Hands off to Taylor Taylor big run. He's in the 45 50 40 30 25 2015 today. Jonathan Taylor, 67 yards to the house. Can you talk about Jonathan Taylor in this talent in the NFL? He's fine. It really is fun to watch him play. He's powerful, but at the same time, like a legit sprinter. I mean, he was fourth three something and I don't know what he weighs 220 pounds, something like that. But you end up putting this guy behind a tremendous offensive line. And now you kind of can't help but wonder with Matt Ryan coming in there exactly what that's going to mean. If they get just a little bit of the passing game going, you know, if they can just make it happen to some extent, we knew what Michael Pittman can forgive me. I'm getting firebombs here by the local airport. It's unbelievable. We live underneath an airport, a smaller force. But all these young pilots, they do the same exact thing. They go and take off, they hang a right over my house. When they go right in my bedroom window, they circle back, they touch down and then they take off again. And so I get these pilots that have 6 hours of experience flying directly over my house every day. I'll tell you what, Chris, we want to let those planes fly by. And then we'll come back with Chris collinsworth. Lead game analyst for NBC's Sunday Night football. That is straight ahead on the Bloomberg business of sports on Michael Barr. So it's been a nice nice little run here that we put together. Well, Chris, I mean, look, we dinosaurs remember with clarity, your epic Super Bowl matchups versus the niners, your unbelievable 206 yard game versus Baltimore back in 83, but most of Gen Z knows you as the face of Sunday Night football on the voice of Madden O 9 ten, 11 and 12. So I think for our audience what I think we'd love to hear is if you could reflect briefly, not just on your professional on your collegiate accomplishments. We had not won a game the year before. When O ten and one, and Shannon comes in, he's 26. So it gave you some idea of where all this has led by my claim to fame, I guess, at the university of Florida was in my very first game that I ever played against rice university. I threw a 99 yard touchdown as a quarterback, which has become like the greatest trivia question. Who holds the NCAA record for the longest touchdown pass and you literally would have to go down 27 million people before you got to my name. And so if you know the answer to that when you can win any bar fight. Chris, I got to ask you about some of the big themes that will be top of mind as we begin this new NFL season. And I can't stop reading about deshaun Watson and how the NFL and the Players Association have finally we should agreement we understand will be an 11 game suspension without pay, a fine of $5 million and this mandatory evaluation by behavioral experts with some kind of treatment program. And there were three ladies in the worked in the lunch room, obviously didn't have very much at all. And all of them had their houses ruined. And he, if I remember the story correctly, gave his first paycheck ever for those three ladies. And I can remember what an impression he made. And so this is one of those that we all make mistakes, but this one fits on the high end of the stakes and so you hope that deshaun Watson through all that therapy and all the things that he'll be going through can get his life back together and move forward, but for the National Football League, there's nothing that any of us want more than to bring women into the family, right? Whether it's NBC, whether it's the NFL, that that's the greatest, the growth. Potential for the National Football League that more and more and more that we're seeing women involved with football, whether it be coaching, whether it be officiating, whether it just be as fans. And I'm speaking as a fantasy football junkie. Just like Damien, if you don't have Jonathan Taylor, as your number one pick running back for the Indianapolis Colts, you obviously had too many beers. "Radio. Now, a global news update Serena Williams is looking to extend her stay at the U.S. open tonight. The tournament in New York figures to be the last for the 40 year old Williams who's expected to retire afterwards. Her matches have become must see events as celebs and fans have been flocking to center court. More than 13 million people are expected to pass through U.S. airports this Labor Day weekend. The TSA is urging travelers to arrive at least 90 minutes ahead of their scheduled flight time. They're also cautioning passengers to exercise patience in case of flight delays. The G 7 is agreeing to a price cap on Russian oil, treasury secretary Janet Yellen talked about the agreement. Our objective since day one has been to deprive Putin and Russia of the revenues they need to conduct this war. The Treasury Department sent out a statement from the group of advanced global economies confirming the cap. I'm Brian shook. Your listening to Bloomberg business of sports from Bloomberg radio. This is the Bloomberg business of sports show where we explore the big money issues in the world of sports on Michael Barr along with scarlet fu and Damien sass sour. We are previewing the NFL season with Chris collinsworth lead game analyst for NBC Sunday Night football. He'll be on the call along with Mike tirico to kick off the season on Thursday, September 8th for the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams. And on top of doing Sunday Night football for NBC, Chris is also a majority owner of pro football focus. Which has become one of the best known NFL analytics companies. We sound so much alike. That people would have no idea which one was which if we ever did a game together. Because we know that this is the sport that everyone gets excited about and all the other leaves are emulating. I mean, they basically build an entire city around their practice facility, the star and as much money as Jerry has made off of the football team and off of building the stadium. I've heard that the money that he's made off of owning everything around this practice facility is like the biggest thing he's ever made money on. And having been on his yacht a couple of times. I might be prone to believe that's meant to be true. So but the Dallas Cowboys for better for horse, I can't always explain it, but if you gave NPC the option of any game that we could call every single week of the season. I think the numbers would still tell you that if you did nothing but cowboys games, you would have the highest rating. Interesting. Yeah, it's unbelievable because of exactly some of the things that you just said. They have not been in the Super Bowl in a long time. They've not won a Super Bowl in a long time. But in part, because of Jerry and part because of a generation of people that are football fans today who grew up watching Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin when those three championships, we still have so many cowboy fans around the country and even those who hate the Dallas Cowboys. Guess what? Stay tuned in to watch them get beat every week. Yeah. I mean, it works for us both ways. So whatever reason you tune in, we're just happy you're there. I got to talk to you about the booth. This is the first season in a while where Al Michaels will not be your partner. Al Michaels went on to Amazon, but Mike tarika will be there. It's kind of like, okay, I'm going to trade this bar gold for this bar of gold, but you're going to it's going to be a great season for you guys. Talk about that though about Al Michaels and the change to Mike tirico. Yeah, I mean, Mike tirico was signed a long time ago and to be the eventual replacement for Al Michaels, right? Unfortunately, nobody had told out Michael. It is current age, and I won't give that away. He's still be great. I mean, how Michael's called the Super Bowl last year and was so fantastic. I don't know any human being like I truly don't. He's an amazing guy with what he can retain and of course the fact that he's been at every major memorable sporting event over the last 50 years leads to some incredible relationships and stories. And so yes, Mike takes over and Al moves on to Amazon and he'll work with Kirk Herbert street over there and they're going to be fantastic. For the first ever sort of digital broadcast. But lucky me, I get my trico who's already done dozens of years of prime time television. So it's pretty amazing, really. You can move from Al Michaels right to Mike tirico and pretty blessed to be able to do that. You know, Chris, I mean, look, every year, there are always these players who massively outperform their present preseason expectations. I mean, you're a PFF. Who is this year's Cooper Cup? And Chris, if you know, don't tell him, because I'm in the same league as he is. And we're both drafting what? Next week. And you can tell me, because I'm not in their league. And I will maybe share that. I'm a bit self serving. Well, since you guys are whispering PFF anyway, I'll just whisper a couple of them to you here. But yeah, I think the one that probably comes to mind first of all is Christian McCaffrey. That's

"Because I love that they're using emeritus as code for we push this guy out 'cause he's old, so we're gonna throw him a playoff game. Let's do that, I guess, right? They could have caught. No, they didn't. They didn't cut it. Right, but they literally using the word emeritus. To mean, we pushed this poor son of a bitch out. So now we're gonna give him a playoff game. That's what it means. I mean, Al's gonna be okay. I'm sure he's playing tennis right now. Brentwood at his claim. But why not just say, why not just say we finalized our announcing roster for the 2022 season? Mike tirico and Chris collinsworth will call the games and the playoffs in Al Michaels will call our extra playoff game. They got to maybe work title. Maybe I will say this. I will say this. I get it, tariqa has been waiting. I'm sure he wants to do the games. I'm sure it's a little political and Tariq has probably got the year of a lot of top management. It is amazing. Is it not, Jimmy? That NBC, in my opinion, has had the best play by play NFL person currently and of all time. And they let that person go. If you just do it on the merit of it, like the quality of performance, they let, in my opinion, the best NFL play by play guy go. And now I'm that person. I agree. Regardless of Al, you know what? Until Al proves to my ears that he's not at the top of his game, he in my opinion is at the top of this game. I feel the same way. All right, let's talk about you. Let's talk about Richard Dutch. So your last downloads drop. So your last tweet where you announced that you would be taking a break from Twitter came on February 20th. We are recording this now on June 1st. Now first I will give you credit. I never in a million years thought you'd be used to tell me when we worked together at Sports Illustrated that I would never quit it. I would never leave Twitter. I was obsessed by it. You would be far more likely to be off that service before me. I never said that. That's a lie. I feel I remember that. How the tables have shifted on that. No, I never said that. Now, I give you a massive amount of credit. I'm impressed that you have not tweeted in that long. Now, the fact that you're reading Twitter, it's a little bit I never said I mean, I don't even remember what I wrote. What did I write? I just said I would take a break, right? For months. Do you agree? Do you have a date in your mind? When you will send out your next tweet. No, I do not. Although I will say, I had a podcast today that I really wanted to promote, and I'm not promoting it. And that's the kind of stuff that really is hard because it has to be very honest with you, 'cause I know you are obsessed with metrics and downloads. More than anybody I know. It has absolutely hurt the downloads of my podcast, not promoting that on Twitter. And so today, I came out with I have a podcast with Washington Post reporter John Woodrow Cox. He covers, honestly, a really serious topic. He covers kids being impacted by guns, school shootings, is probably the expert in the entire country on it. We went 50 minutes on this, just like real sobering discussion on what it's like to do his job. Is there any solution or possibility here? So he's obviously written about Yuval NI and sandy hook in Buffalo and all that stuff..

"Then there's a time in the movie and Spider-Man two where Spider-Man is back. Not when he jumps across the building, screaming, I'm back. And he obviously doesn't have his powers. It's near the end of a movie where he gets beat by Doc ock and his glasses are on and he's like, flip and throw him and he knows he has his powers back. I felt that last night. I felt like Patrick Mahomes knew he had his powers back. His offense was back. Last night, being the chief's office scoring the 41 points first time scoring 40 cents week four, brilliant performance by Patrick Mahomes, as I said, 400 yards, 5 touchdowns. No turnovers by him, which I love to see. The connection to him and Kelsey, Kelsey is a river that runs through this offense, not tyreek hill, you have to get Kelsey involved in moving. That is what they did. They also got tyreek hill involved. Darrell Williams and we're receiving game over a hundred yards, praying goal Hardman. Robinson, everybody got their turn to third string tight and gray. Got his. This was masterful performance. By the offense, Patrick Mahomes was brilliant. Quarterback rating of 83. This offense, this was one of the best offensive performances I've seen all season last night. A lot of people writing off the chiefs. I was very concerned. I picked against him. I said, I don't even know if I make a playoffs. And then they pull this on me. They pull the hopeless sand, back up is what they did. And it was simply brilliant over 500 yards of total offense as well. Just great just great. On another thing I liked is the defense. I'm still holding out on the defense. I'm not saying the defensive back they were never there to begin with. But they had been playing better in recent weeks. Yes, you know, they haven't faced great teams, you know, of a Packard without Aaron Rodgers, you know, a giant, I mean, come on. Next week is a real test for this defense when they play by cowboys. That's when I'll make a true assessment on this defense. That'll be a pivotal game for the Kansas City chiefs. But the chiefs are looking good right now. They're back at least on offense, Patrick Mahomes is back, but berates all the Raiders, it's tough for the Raiders two losses in a row. I think I agree with what Chris collinsworth Al Michael says is there just too much distractions now to overcome you had but Jon Gruden firing and then now the lawsuit new coach Henry ruggs situation getting rid of another first round pick. I mean, and then you look at your schedule, it might be too much for them to overcome and this is also typical.

"Yeah, they're 5 and three, and now they're in the lead for the LFC west title because the visual divisional title because they beat the Raiders on the Monday Night Football game, but they barely got by the Philadelphia Eagles who are not three and 6. So I mean, what did that mean? What did that prove? What did the game against the packers prove? What kids the city? We all keep sitting in that we all, but you know, you heard enough people sit there and talk about Kansas City's gonna turn it around. Kansas City to the turning around. Kansas City has too much talent. I mean, you know, you take a look at the statistics in Kansas City still in the Middle East offense and Patrick Mahomes is still Patrick Mahomes and all they need to do is just stop worrying about trying to hit these long home runs shot to be more patient and be more disciplined. We keep hearing all this stuff, and then we saw what they did against Green Bay without Aaron Rodgers to van Rogers with that game. Do you think the chief win or do you think Kansas City wins? We saw the week before and then against the New York Giants way to hold on to win? The offense against sputtering? The defense played well enough now, Mulligan, they're playing against Jordan love in this first game, but 7 points. I mean, two, three years ago, that game would have been over in the first quarter. What's going on with Kansas City now? What can we contribute to this now? Because every week it's always something new. Always something like, well, okay, you know, this game this was just that and the other but no, next week, they play this team and this should be the start of Kansas City looking like the Kansas City that we all know and love and respect and think that, you know, the dynasty and the making of when are we gonna stop doing that and just say at least for this season, this is what Kansas City is, which is a pretty pretty mediocre football team with. Dare I say when everything is all said, pretty close to mediocre offense. How much more evidence do we need? We're 9 games in. We have 8 more games left to play. How much longer are we gonna hold the narrative narrative? Well, you know, hold on for just wait and see, just wait and see, just wait and see. I don't know. I don't know. I'm not ready to call Kansas City's office a bus just yet. Still 8 more game to play, but man, I'm looking for something. I'm looking for a generalski or Chris collinsworth or somebody Shen sharp or somebody who knows the game of football who understands the game of football, Tony dungy to tell me exactly how are the Kansas City football team, how is this team going to turn things around when they've looked so average what they blow average defense? What they've looked average on offense with the blow average defense. Melvin Ingram is the guy who they acquired from the Steelers who named kept dropping out of my head. But what is that going to be happening? Sony AFC, we have all these questions, but when we went to the NFC, it was, well, in the NFC, we know..

"Call there the great Now, Michael's and Chris Collinsworth, Tom Brady after the game set a win like that builds confidence. It's just competition at its best, so NFL football challenges you a lot in different ways and You know, we've worked on our two minutes, so it really comes down to execution and Sometimes we're going to need it. And you never know when you're going to need it before the end of the half. We used a home, Mary tonight. I was the first time I'd use the Hail Mary. Here. Um, we had a few blast and the game situations that we're trying to just kill some clock and through the water bounds. So, you know, situationally. A lot of things are coming up and, you know, we just got to be on top of things. And you know, you got to string together a lot of communication about these critical moments and how to make The important place when you need to, and I think the important part about the last travel game was You know, we executed some really good place at the right moment and It was. It was great to see it's going to give us a lot of confidence in the box, hoping to become the first team to repeat as a champs sense of Brady let his 3 4000 and four Patriot teams two consecutive titles. They turned the ball over four times something coach Bruce Arians made note of. As he said after the game. This team has enough confidence. I think in tight ball games, we have a ton of confidence, you know, but For me. Just don't put ourselves in that situation, you know, Let's let's play better and have that 14 point We we should have had instead of formula Narbona on each line, So it's just a matter of The confidence is real. It's earned. The Dak Prescott on the other side of the ball there threw for 403 yards and three touchdowns for Dallas, its first game since suffering a severe injury that ended his career or a season. Excuse me, uh, last season. After just five games. The Cowboys have never beaten Tom Brady, who improved a six and O against them. Five of those victories coming during his historic 20 year run with the Patriots, and you remember when drew blood so went down and Tom Brady was I pulled into the game. I believe the paths were, uh, yeah, that was in the playoffs. Um, NBC ran an interesting stat on Tom Brady. They took a look at his release over this 20 year run. When he was pulled into the game after blood. So was injured on that Patriot squad and his He's gotten quicker, folks. Uh, as he's gotten older, he's gotten faster. His relief went from about his release. I should say went from about 33 seconds, uh, to 28, so he's snapping that ball down the field as hard as he can, Uh, funny quote from Gronk after the game, they were asking about Tom Brady and the last drive and Rob Gronkowski, who you'll remember retired and then came back to play for Tampa Bay because he wanted to play with Tom Brady again, said he sees it all. It's impressive..

Do you aspire to be a head coach? One day it's crossed my mind. You know, it's hard, not 50 yourself in the number one spot. You know this, this Diana coach in general Um And you know, being able to do that in basketball would be something that would be exciting and football as well. And what would you say to all the young girls who are out there who aspired to be like Jennifer King who aspired to make history who aspired to do things that haven't been done in the past where there have been barriers that air starting very slowly. To come down. What would be your message to all these girls out there like my 12 year old daughter, Jennifer, I think it's on forfeit. Never noted. They're so powerful. They're so strong. It can do anything that they want to do. Um, you know, not saying that It will be easy and I know they won't be times We're gonna fail. But, you know, I learned from coach K out. "chris collinsworth" Discussed on Strong Opinion Sports

"I have a little sympathy because of the Injustice of wage. Happened, but my my sympathy meter is on pretty much empty because of again you had a bad season 2 in total. Now I want to talk about Cris Collinsworth the broadcaster for NBC doing Sunday Night Football. I've seen a lot of Articles people saying Chris Collinsworth might be in trouble at the NFL and even on the broadcast Chris Collinsworth literally had a line. He said I'm trying not to get fired here. And Cris Collinsworth better not be in trouble. So during the broadcast Eagles Washington the Eagles clearly were trying to lose the game. They were tanking and I actually want to give credit to Chrome is worth he kept trying to give every opportunity of every kind of little bit of benefit of the doubt. He could to Philadelphia said well, maybe they want to give Nate sudfeld an opportunity. Maybe they should see what you can do try to evaluate him. And then he said well personally, I don't understand because I would want to see Jalen hurts when she could do in a three-game in a three loot down three points and the fourth quarter of an important game wouldn't you rather evaluate? You know, the guy who might your starting quarterback Jalen hurts next year. And the idea that Cris Collinsworth could be in trouble with the NFL or maybe even fired but even it's in trouble at all for pointing out what Philadelphia was doing is absurd. I mean, I want to say this as a broadcaster whether you're a weatherman or a podcast host or TV whatever your job is not only to the company you work for but also to the people listening to what your birth casting and I mean imagine if I walked outside and said, you know what the sky isn't blue today. It's red and you're like unless there's like a bunch of smoke like there was earlier this year than the world is burning down to to a crisp on the west coast for the most part. The sky is not read the sky is blue. And if the sky is blue and I say it's something else you're going to go. Well, that's weird. I don't trust you cuz you're lying. It doesn't make any sense and so long. Cris Collinsworth job is to be honest and to say what he believes and I've always liked Chris Collinsworth. I know a lot of people hate on the guy and he's got some boneheaded moments for sure. Although I would dare anybody get on live TV and talk for hours and hours and hours at a time. It's way harder than anybody gives it credit for but Cris Collinsworth was just being honest and doing his job and saying what he saw in front of him..

Russell Westbrook traded to Wizards

"Russell westbrook traded to the washington wizards from the houston rockets for john wall and future first round draft. Pick houston that is the most paramount future first round draft pick protection on the first round. Pick that the wizards traded to houston and the westbrook for wall deal. They decided to cash it in in the twenty twenty Twenty twenty three. Nba draft pick is lottery protected. Twenty twenty four the pick. His top twelve protected. The twenty twenty-five pick is top ten protected and then if they want to wait if you want to wait all the way to twenty twenty six to pick his top aide protected then becomes two second rounders now. Jonathan fagin of the houston chronicle. He reported that westbrook wanted to go elsewhere so we can be himself on the floor man. Exactly what does that mean. what is he talking about. Clarify define a little bit more when he speaks about he wants to quote unquote be- himself. Are we talking about the wessel russell. Westbrook that won the where he averaged a triple double. Is that the himself. He wants to be at so that was income through the door and being that effective. I would like to see the be himself. Russell westbrook be the guy that the second year. When he was with paul george where george with the guy that was getting most of the shadow attempts that i wouldn't say was taking a backseat. But you know. He was starting to give more and more of the spotlight to paul george in terms of the acknowledgement that. Hey you know what. We're going to have the team that we want to have the best team that we can be. you know. i've got to be more than just sharing with paul george to give him a little bit more in terms of responsibility at least on offense with the oklahoma city thunder so with him going from houston with james harden and now moving over to play with bradley beal with the team. Tommy sheppard titley owns the such making a point with trade. That bradley beal is going to be the center piece. That bradley beal that franchise guy the bradley beal is going to be the russell. Westbrook of the washington wizards that Brooklyn no his role on a team in terms of saying look you know when everything is all said and done this state. The oklahoma city thunder the way. I had it for a couple of years especially after kevin durant left. This is bradley. Beal's team and i have to let him grow in that responsibility for for ever long. The bill was broke. Tear them is there hopefully for two or three years. But we'll
