"Better agenda as the key message in next year's midterm elections The last time the party created a new government program ObamaCare in 2010 the backlash created a red wave and gave the GOP control of the House of Representatives It appears to Walsh talks to some Democrats about why they think 2022 will be different Chris cardi represented a red district in south central Pennsylvania for two terms He lost his seat in 2010 after voting for the Affordable Care Act But when it comes to voting for the Biden agenda now it's kind of an easy yes He said the benefits of the first part of the agenda the infrastructure Bill that will fix potholes and make tunnels and bridges safer are popular Those kinds of piece of mind issues are very important to people every day He admits it's harder to explain what he called the softer social programs Things like universal pre-K but he says people across the political spectrum like these ideas even if they don't always like more government Government can and sometimes should do big things to improve the overall well-being of the nation He said Democrats will have to zero in on examples of how this bill helps people in a way they fail to do with ObamaCare I think Democrats will learn a lesson from that and explain the components of build back better and why they're important Florida Democrat Stephanie Murphy represents a swing district in Orlando She voted for the build back better bills but warned her party about trying to roll out so many new policies at once I thought we should pick a few things that matter a lot to our constituents and do them well and do them in a sustainable and lasting way She said the fights inside the party also complicated getting the message out It makes it difficult to communicate it when there is Democrat on Democrat attacks But she said some pieces are already resonating I think that my constituents in Florida clearly understand the impact of climate change and the need to take action on that Unlike Carney Oregon Democrat Kurt Schrader voted for the ACA and survived that wave election He's a top tier GOP target in 2022 and expects Republicans to nationalize the election again But he says he knows what he'll talk about on the campaign trail I'm gonna run on the prescription drug program that I negotiate I'm gonna run on the bipartisan infrastructure package that I started with my prom service group and negotiate I think those are winning Winning messages but you gotta have the resources to get your message out The bill still needs to get through the Senate but the messaging wars in full swing We always say that the second that you get into having to explain what you're doing you're losing the messaging battle already That's the difficult part about legislating That's Kristen Hahn a democratic strategist who worked for moderates in the House in 2010 She said things like getting affordable healthcare if you have preexisting conditions or having adult children stay on their parents healthcare plans are popular now We weren't able to effectively communicate that at the time I don't think that was detrimental to us in the midterm elections in 2010 The president's low standing in the polls and the historic trend of the party in power losing seats in the midterms could mean this pushes the Democrats last big chance to enact major public policies for a while But Carney says unlike ObamaCare the bill back better bill can be a potent political weapon because Democrats can already show concrete ways they are changing people's lives for the better I would go on the offensive with this I would ask everybody who voted against it Why Cardi said he knew the ACA was unpopular in his district then but is glad he voted yes I was able to get healthcare for 33,000 more Families and individuals So yeah that's worth losing a seat over In the almost dozen years since that election the healthcare law has become a political plus as more people are covered Democrats on Capitol Hill argue the build back better agenda has things that are helping people now like the child tax credit But if they want to avoid a repeat of 2010 they're going to need President Biden to aggressively tout.

"Keep it buck with me. You know the limitation to the amount of space. You have like it's stuck in the front portion. I can't go back for the second space. If i'm coming to an event where y'all will say that's off limits and that's almost the best part That's just me being honest. And i want you to be honest. I want you because the front space. Yes if i can cater this to my liking and can do this w- and make this my world. Yes that's beautiful but you know the backspace. There's already that wall that has the lighting and everything. It would be smart to make to be able to use that interesting. Like like the dreams of triumphing one of the things that made it fun in like fun to be part of was there was a photo booth situation people coming up to that and interacting and doing their thing and there was a girl who was printing polaroid's on the spot. So you come to her. She have your little. Polls you do your little thanks. She takes photo just printed up and hannity get experience extra. Okay actually tip of the hat. But that's like a condemnation. Anything i i guess. I'm just curious. I'm just seeing. I see a lot of black brands in the city doing pop ups in jason places but not. I don't see a lot of people. Just come into knock on the on the door. And i mean like for example in both those situations. Yeah those are personal relationships that now stand to benefit me in this moment so like chris. Cardi has a good relationship with lauren. Who manages the spot and then same thing applies to berlin chadwick who's also known and prominent figures. So if he's giving you the space to do something even if you had if you if you thought of somewhere else this may soon be better to do it here. Because i noticed guy okay relationships everything interesting.

"Your foot right there like that mind even the bathroom engineer that correct better you know better since the bathrooms and all that so we we come from that so we don't really need much to make hot shit. You know what i'm saying. It's just say that you gotta have to jump in but to that point though we we thinking about vertical everything going vertical. Everything engineering. Our own stuff. You said nepal and stuff so when we talking about being a label. We're talking about we're going to have we. We have in the process of having or you know what i'm saying somewhere down the line going to have everything Quote unquote official. Anything have saying. That's the whole point of us calling ourselves label basically sounding ourselves and dawn at taking ownership of the process taking ownership of everything so named might be in front and behind the camera being behind at the end of this. When i say. I want to sign your son or my son or a homey from down the street who sixteen. He don't have to come in and do nothing but right he'll have the because 'cause i know everything i know how to get to get the press. Release how to get you in. The paper are not to get you a mixmaster. We got the sponsors for the clothing. You just coming here rat. You know what i'm saying so that's will be In the process of doing Don't have an issue with the big deals but they charge too much. Yeah go home. And what am i getting. They you know when you talk about a record label. They're gonna bill. You based on official studio hours. I don't think ya'll take people who aren't official traditional studios because i feel like that typically manufacturers type of sound as it was little if we did. We did a label. Do we going to be in a big studios right right so but economically point and also and also like you know equality thing like like that comes with you know like what are they working with. Why are they charging what they charge. it's not. Just 'cause design is now you re looking at that investing in those things so that our stuff can be what it is supposed to be. You know so. It's not just it's not just ego that saying oh that's okay. What they're doing over there. They're not the only always something to take from it and learn from ego. I think is actually. I think it's a credit. See y'all i think that's critical thinking efficiency like how can we maximize the output. Which is the quality while. China reduces much unnecessary expenses. As fast man. Minimalism right. you know. And that's what we ought. Our music is like that Will want to do nine two extra ryan right I i missed a few missed. A few elements in there but You've recently dropped a comic with with that with the bridge. I believe and then you also in some type of commercial like which commercial was dead. Let let the people know yeah. I was Yeah one Surge julian james virtually. Yeah he chose me as a bit on it. He tells me as a as a window into dc. He was a shooting a campaign for apple. They were highlighting black photography. Basically black coats throughout america and Julian's as was plugged for the dc addition and he chose me as one of three people to model for their campaign. So i'm glad i got to get on there. I got to get underneath a georgia aside with the columbia jacket and do back and just shutout sir. Julius shutout chris cardi out in chicago. Mahoney law j. You'd another another fellow. Ganja was one of the photographers out. There clo is your energy. Very dope and Yeah i have a comic coal up tell story and it's basically it's a comic that set in. Dc is like if boondocks met archie. Met superman me. I'm saying it's like Send dc and a lot of people from dc are blessed powers from in this joint. Captain uptown is. The main character is based off myself. And he's the only person in the comic book that chooses to use powers to save people to help people he's not the strongest person in a joint. He's not the weakest and the story really revolves around. Dc uptown story. And he's in it sometimes. He's he sometimes he's not in it. i've been running this for the past. Wanna say since two thousand eighteen been working on this of how to annual art show every year since the Thank i may or may not have been part of one of you probably part of one of sands art of noise about two three years ago or shutout that was. That was a beautiful thing adrian. Yeah adrian ferguson and For sean love so yeah so. I have a page on instagram uptown. Dot story where you can actually read and scroll to the side of the comic. Then every year have the exhibition where i have four by six page. Four by six foot pays panels of the comic drawn out. Sometimes ten to twelve pages. So you're reading the large-scale comic book and then between time you know i sell covers so service so it's just a fully immersive thing that i'm just giving people a lot of a lot of like you know this is something that i play with my sketchbook so if i'm listen incorrectly is like nate's artistry isn't isn't a what's the word i'm looking for is that Stuck to stuck stuck to stuck in a box and or not stuck to the pages like it might be painting. Might be drawing. He might be wrapping. It could be anything you all know what he said. The new cheap pain in a new plan of hard before buying for the podcasts even started doing in a corner drawing john. Quick question Dc statehood since yellow from dc. Howdy al actually feel about it. Oh man i think it was getting current events. That's a that's a tough question. Damn man you know how filibuster. I'm not even in that conversation like once you start talking about. Statehood is basically the poster gentrified. Dc and. i don't. I feel like i don't have too much say on what goes on there or too much care. Honestly besides what. I'm doin' on Grassroots level right but dc statehood. Don't sound good to me You know that's just. I don't agree with past five mayors. Don't sound good to me. I don't agree with it because like the back over already said like i don't feel like it'd be fair to people that are actually from d. c. You know what i'm saying. The people would benefit from a lot of the state programs. That come with having like statehood would be a lot of these you know. Playing the put people that are are gentrified like they would be the ones to benefit and like a lot of people that got moved out of the city pushed out of their homes. You look at all of those homes. Gone going down on north capitol. All of those two black people know what i'm saying. Those developers came in. They pushed him out for like two hundred and fifty thousand and a lot of people. Never seen that kind of money so they take it whole time is worth like a million dollars because of the location that is You know what. I'm saying and give people statehood. Now you know is is already so many programs in dc that benefit kids so many job programs college that people don't really like typing but i don't feel i feel like statehood would benefit the majority right now and unfortunately to be people that gentrify you know 'cause a lotta people that's from. Dc don't have a residence in dc. No more like the grandmother house on house and a lot of people that grew up here can even more delays live here and like as soon as you lose that. It's like a diamond. You know what. I'm saying right right right so.

"Realize that. I need to make sure that building. Those costs right. Count for the fact that i drove to rockville. I right outta drawback exactly and i start doing that. You have to realize that so even with pop ups like give. People atmosphere have fun. Good music honestly. Good music you. The bar has a good bartender atmosphere and your products. They look nice. it is going to sell. I've seen it way too many times at bars and if you work relationships with the bartender and you work relationships with hey we're gonna make sure the bar tab hits about thousand versus pain for the space for this hour's i guarantee they'll take the bars over the initial cash and it just depends on i two of my favorites to do what she didn't. She's talking about them about like they do their things at bars. And it's always a fun time. One would be chris cardi exactly and the other would be dreams of triumph like dreams triumphal. He'll go to chinatown on on the street over there to join in a spot called crimson but like he makes it his face and there's always some sort of good a good deal on drinks like it's always the two of those together and you know you're going to enjoy yourself chris. Cardi and dreams of triumph. Definitely get a shadow here. Yes that's and that's your mom. Show exactly and chris smart like he worked. You can work relationship at one point. Where like you got discounts if you bought glass with his with his logo and everything on. It took it to the bar. You got discount uber. That when they're finding those relationships mark it's very clever very smart but that's what i'm saying. There's so many other ways to give people experience they wanna have without you. Having to like give so much aware compromise the quality of your product and equality of what it is like i. I'm trying this whole thing for twenty twenty. I mean not perfect. But i'm trying to only purchase and support small businesses. So a lot of my clothing. They'll be buying will be coming from all of you. Gentlemen in here were and ladies out there. Shut out but that is my goal. So like i'm gonna pay the fifty six stops. I'll probably pay one hundred dollars. More is going to hurt. It hurts okay. Supporting small hard. Okay it was easy everyone would do it but life what do you how do you think that benefits the community by supporting small businesses. I think that like it's kind of like just showing the action that you care as crazy as it sounds corny as it sounds. I think that if you smart if you support small businesses within your area where are you're supporting like your community someone that lives in that community someone that you're supporting probably your neighbor so you're holding to pay rent bills. Keep the lights on anything. And i think that if we all kind of start a movement like this it's going to change the game of retail. I mean and i think that it has to start with blake us be more conscious consumers. Yes do i. I don't think that i go through moments. Where i'm not perfect. I'll still get myself. A of experience have really nice pieces. I hate to say it and they those ninety nine cents sales. Yes i know. We're czar as art or a few times. Yeah sorry. I'm ball and i'd be like came. Talked me fox still backing today. I should three that was added and had to dig into crates for down. That was an air who i feel. I feel like why didn't break down your breath of experience. I'd be doing you a disservice. So like from from my conversations with her outside of this like the collection of her experiences. What makes her unique fit for the things that she's doing now so like take us through some of these spots that you work. They're all right here. We go along. I started my first job. I yeah i was like. I think certified okay. I can make you a lot in under two minutes. And it was wait certified starbucks used to like make you take classes and your drink had to weigh a certain amount for it to be serving. I never knew that technical i. I'm a recent shoot. Ger took me like almost a month before they let me on the bar implant games early bar pussies buns to get drink certified. It was take a coffee class. everything. I knew content your palate. The bruce was back in the days to have like. I knew coffee hair college. Like if it's like dr members society precise right. it hits like search through different side of the pallet. I don't. I don't even like coffee right only like like a dibble dabble of coffee. My drink like a big shot. I'm usually getting mel joining my favorite my favorite rank them. I like you a lot. Laura favorite drink from them. Caramel ribbon crunch frappuccino. And there's like literally coffee mostly like let's see is giving you certa faith anyways respect basically you like extra sugar hot chocolate that so but a little bit of coffee. So what else did you work laura. Let's give time so market. I also worked for him. White house black market. Were for allison. Olivia it worked for. The company actually helped open up the company and there's show started from the ground up permits hiring on product knowledge training that to the fried company. I worked for barneys new york and georgetown. I worked there. And i used to work at the thus the location. Sometimes i also worked diesel visual merchandising travel czar visual merchandising and travel i worked for reagan bom did reach and pop-ups events outside a rag and bone and then brought back end did most of their consignments and i used to like work with my clients if it'd shop for them than i was organized and closets this well and then i worked for the showroom dc on fourteen k that's event space so i home with the as a manager there i just make sure they follow the rules and they don't burn the building down when my actually friends. I've been to a wedding. That they own the space saron. Ross you guys. I love them. They just kind of an opportunity there one. The reasons helped me kinda.
