That's the number to dial as well. Here on this three hour program, this program, three hours long. Which is amazing. Longer than two thirds of the baseball games played yesterday. Major League Baseball's opening day. 15 games, all 30 clubs as they like to call them in Major League Baseball. We're up and active yesterday. Opening day. Everybody out there. We're back. And out there were pizza box shaped bases out there. We're infielders. In the traditional role of their positions. Second baseman, stationed to the right side of second base, shortstops and third baseman anchored to the left side of second base. Who'd have thought? You could play baseball like that. And then the one that I think is got everybody talking today, positively about baseball, amazing. Is the pitch cloth? Last year, the average Major League Baseball game was one minute past three hours, correct, Chris. Last three O three. Three O three three minutes past three hours. Good God. And yesterday, the average time of Major League Baseball opening day games was two hours, 44. Look at us. Look at us, slicing a quarter of an hour off baseball games. And the ones that were three hours long were 5 of them and three of those games had double digit runs for 5 teams of the 6. 800 run score. There you go. So you see action. It's tight. Yankees in the Giants, 5 nothing yanks, Aaron judge is the first guy to hit home run this year. That game was two 33, a crisply played two and a half hour baseball game. All rise. That was it. Yesterday, and the pitch clock, we actually saw the first pitch clock violation sparking a rally. That happened in Seattle last night. As the Mariners were taking on the Cleveland Indians and the pardon me, the guardians, here I am. They take around the guardians and they scored their first run of the season in the first one who touched home plate, got on base because a pitch clock violation messed with the relievers had an O2 count turned into a one two count, the guy worked out a walk in a very controversial fashion on a swing that the guardians thought was a foul tip. Be that as it may when the pitch clock moves in a pitcher doesn't step off the rubber and have time to think and it catches not allowed to continuously come out and buy time and a pitching coach can come out with his hands in his back pockets and spit sunflower seeds and now suddenly it's two minutes in between pitches and the reliever gets to calm down. When that doesn't happen, the Phillies give up a ten run inning like they did yesterday. JT Rio Muto saying the pitch clock didn't allow him the usual way to slow the game down as a catcher. And the Mariners again got their winning runs on the board in a rally in the 8th thing that by the way snapped a 26 inning scoreless streak going back to their 18 innings of scoreless baseball and their final loss of the playoffs last year if you remember that. For the Mariners last year, so we saw pitch clock violation, sparking a rally, and then of course there's this. It took one game. Yep. One day. What am I talking about? Here he is. Coming in off the world baseball classic of Shohei Ohtani doing what he did. Striking out Mike Trout and in case all you trout detractors out there and part of them is somebody who's in the 10 o'clock position for me right here on the rich eisen show. That's brockman for those who don't spatially know right here. You're in the 11 o'clock position. Thank you. I was trying to figure that out. I was like, wait. That was only the 24th at bat of Mike Trout's career in which three swinging strikes were recorded in the same at bat. And that last pitch from ohtani was the nasty, but if anyone was out there going using that moment and obviously in an at bat, either the pitcher, the batter has to win the at bat in Otani one, that at that. But it did spark the conversation of, wouldn't it be great to see these guys in a playoff game this year? Just maybe just maybe the angels can make it. You've got to go higher register. You in fact. Maybe the angels can actually get to the playoffs this year. We'll see how tiny animals see trout. I think a glass just shattered behind brockman. Again, you have to go higher register sometimes to say something in the sports world and believe what you're saying. So it took one day for that notion to be completely shattered. "But let's give everybody a little bit of credit here and treat each other with respect. I know that I worked my rear off to have great contacts and the guys that you can shackle say, like I did my job. But don't pretend we don't know who they are. This story is all anybody's talking about. I'm totally over it. I just want to know at what point will the jets lose next year with or without Aaron Rodgers, right? I mean, that's all I care about. You know, rich says that if you're suffering from Rogers fatigue, then you shouldn't watch football, but how could you not be suffering from fatigue from this story? Just get the deal done and I want to hear about this every day, but we have to talk about it every day. Again, if Amy and I were doing this? Would have been done? Would sit down with hammer it out? I wouldn't fly her to lucky's until I knew it was going on. And I want to know in advance, what do you want from me? What do you want from me? I feel from Lamar Jackson to the tweet went out saying 31 teams will be disappointed then take me or I paraphrase. But wow, that's another one to asking me about, what is happening with Lamar Jackson? And why aren't there a lot about their suitors out there? Is it the effect from last year and the negotiations? What is it? And so that will be something we'll talk about not only with Amy, but with Brent musberger, my all time favorite announcer of all time, in people. I mean, I just think when I was digging into parental a little bit again, just as a reminder. It's so incredible. His intersection with sports. And I thought to himself, that's the next documentary. I want to see. By the way, that little blurb that you text to me and Chris asks did we know that? Which I'm sure will bring up. For as much as I think I know about sports, I'm pretty sure I never knew that fact that you're going to talk the brand about regarding college basketball. That was pretty amazing. And then all of a sudden we're sitting there, he's eating his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and then I feel my leg get warm, and then I look down and I'm like, did you just pee on me? She's like, yeah, daddy, I went pee. I'm like, yeah, no kidding. All over the couch all over my leg. It was great. Well, nighttime is the right time to fight crime. Yes, you know that. Yeah, I don't have a rhyme. Hold on. So true. You have no rhymes. You know, the nighttime. I've got no rides. I mean terrible. Let me tell you something. That's up there with caillou. After a while. PJ masks is better than caillou, anything's better than coyote. It's like a mask. It's not terrible, but I have to avoid. After a while, it's like, okay, come on. I mean, that nighttime is the right time to fight crime. Really gets into your head. Well, there you go. I heard that. Exactly. That's ASMR or whatever that thing. I'm cat boy. Cool. Are you like, gecko? What about are you Adam? This is not a sports conversation, but we'll have it. We're going to talk to you and dunk later. So we're going to talk a lot about kids stuff today. Great movie. Really just a fantastic movie and a good feel good. But we can also talk about the fact that you're not up to paw patrol yet. Oh, no, we are. We're in all of it. You are. We're blazed paw patrol, PJ masks. We've kind of gotten off of the cars. That's sad. We've moved on from cars. Because he was heavily in the cars, right? I really like that movie. And I actually don't mind cars too. I know people hate cards too. I think it's fine. What about cars three? Cars three is good too. I like all of them. I'm actually wishing there was a cards for. What are we doing? You've got a director from Disney+ today, pitch it. Let's go. Cars four. I think it's a great idea. Let's pitch it. What are we waiting for? What are we waiting for? I mean, my God. We have so much time on our hands while we wait for Aaron Rodgers and the packers and the jets to iron this out. We can pretty much talk about anything. I mean, we have days. "Think that that man, number 12, will be coming down out of retirement very soon. Aaron Rodgers is going to be illmatic 'cause what we're saying. All right, so Derek, Derek Carr is headed to the saints. I actually think great move. Why do you want to be in the AFC? That's why I never understood it. Gary Rogers, all the Denver rumors. Sure he can go to the jets if the jets get Aaron Rodgers. They're not even guaranteed to win their division. You would think if you acquire a guy like Aaron Rodgers, first ballot Hall of Famer whenever he chooses to hang it up. Of course. Plus 5 years. You would think that move guarantees you a division title and then boom, a trip to the final four, at least. Not the case. Not the case in the AFC, not the case in the AFC east, where look, we've shown Miami has been awesome when two is fully healthy. Their offense clicks. Like we've never seen before. And of course, the bills and Josh Allen. Still one of the Super Bowl favorites heading into next year. I imagine Josh Allen will be one of the betting favorites for MVP again. So where does this leave the jets? Do they, hey, look, Lamar Jackson, still no deal, right? They're talking. They're still meeting. Eric dacosta ravens GM and him are still talking and meeting, but maybe looking like he's gonna get non exclusive franchise tagged the 4 p.m. deadline eastern tomorrow with a team like the jets be willing to give up two first round picks for Lamar Jackson. Well, Chris, getting back to Rogers thing and you said they're not guaranteed to win the division. But one thing is for certain, the jets would at least be in every game. They went I believe 5 games this year without scoring a touchdown. I can't imagine within Aaron Rodgers led offense that that would be the case. So at least there's going to be hope they're going to be in every game. They've got a very talented team, both on both sides of the balls. We talked about AD nauseum here. The jets are ready to win now. There are quarterback away from kind of being in this top ten mix in the NFL. And so do you think Aaron Rodgers is the guy problem is you're going to have to trade. You're going to have to give up access for him and then you're going to have to pay him. I know he carries a $60 million number right now. I got to imagine the number is going to have at least a 5 in front of it. Year to year. So we'll see what happens. There. We'll talk about all of that. Again, rich is at LAX. He's probably in a car. He's probably pretty highway in sepulveda right now as we speak. If the car had enough room in it for rich to pace around, he'd be pacing around in the car right now just to give you the visual of what rich is. We all know we took Chris, he could be in a party bus, which would allow him the room. So, you know, I don't know, I don't know what's picking rich up at the airport these days. "Watch a little Formula One, but that's for stopping. The max for stop and want to get. Yeah, we call it that on Friday. Jeez, that dude is a machine. It's all about Anthony Richardson. And like I said, he's going to join us in the third hour, 2 p.m. eastern 11 Pacific, he's going to talk to rich. And what you said, Chris, about his phenomenal combine. Early about him is definitely true. I believe that you are going to see some teams making huge moves up the board to pick this kid up because all the intangibles, everything on paper, even the off paper. He passes the eye tag. Remember, last week we were talking about basketball players who walk into they call them. This guy, we got to see what he does on the field, obviously, but he's one of those guys. He walks into a room or an airport, you just know that this guy is somebody in somebody special. I don't know which is better, the eye tests or the smell test, but this dude passes both. Like I said, he is built like Cam Newton. You saw this all over Twitter over the weekend. He's built like Cam Newton. He's as fast as Lamar Jackson. We don't know what Lamar Jackson's actual 40 is. He never actually ran 3 a.m.. But I got to tell you, when a guy runs a four four, that's fast. This just in breaking news. And he throws it as far as Josh Allen. Okay? Dude. My man, there's still twofold Mikey. How was your weekend? Good. Worked two college basketball games. Last weekend at college basketball, March Madness, the fully loaded. It's coming up Sunday, selection Sunday. TJ, did I see you went to Dodger stadium last night? I did. I want to wait for riches here. We'll get into that. But yeah, I went to a little birthday party. We'll get in that a little bit later. And yeah, it was pretty cool. I know you didn't watch any NBA Adam, we were talking about it. It was an epic sports weekend. I know we always talk about what's the greatest sports month of the year, whether it's October, April kind of makes its case. And I know people kind of sleep on March because everyone just thinks it's only March Madness. And that's the only thing that's going on. But that would be enough, by the way. Normally, march man is that would be, and I know we're not watching a lot of college basketball here, but when the tourney starts, you know it's going to suck us right back in. But Thursday, Friday of the tournament, and then Saturday Sunday, there's 48 games take place over a four day stretch. That usually kind of carries march, but it was an epic sports weekend. The NBA was insane. Kevin Durant, I don't know if you heard. He's good at basketball. He's not bad. Game winner 37 yesterday. The Mavericks again? Yeah, and also people like Booker said after the game, everyone gets mad with all these NBA players being buddy buddy. Well, Devin Booker and Luke are showing that there is some animosity out there in the NBA, and I guess I think I'm here for it. I'm here for all of it. And we know nobody likes to grizzlies. They got all kinds of stuff going on now. What is happening down there? With John Moran, it's really not funny. With John Moran, he's taken a few games off. I imagine, didn't actually call it a suspension, he released a statement after an Instagram video where he appeared to be brandishing a gun. After the reported incidents that took place over the last few months of him involved with the 17 year old and then an incident at the mall. And so he's taking some time away. TJ, I feel like it's going to be longer than two games, even though he's out to games. And Memphis might be in trouble, or they might be better off without him. Who knows? They had a ten point lead last night in the fourth quarter, gets the clippers. Clippers came all the way back, clippers look nice. I would be too favorites in the west, Phoenix and LA clippers. I'm not mad at that. TJ, we'll get into that a little bit later on. We'll talk a lot of NBA later. Great sports weekend, Formula One is back. We mentioned Max Verstappen won again at Bahrain, the gulf has been awesome. Not sure you're watching any of the Arnold Palmer invitational yesterday at bay hill, Kurt kitty, I'm a beat a loaded field with an epic 18th hole hits it in the rough, then hits an incredible shot that maybe 25% of golfers could make and two putts dramatically for the win over Roy mcelroy and Harris English. He takes home $3.6 million in the elevated event. Major League Baseball has been awesome. I gotta say, I was a major opponent of the pitch clock. I love the rule about banning the shift. I thought we'd see more action. I thought that was kind of the most pressing thing kind of facing Major League Baseball was action getting away from home run walk strikeout. That was obviously super boring. The game time limit, I didn't really have a problem with. But I watched the game yesterday, came in at two hours and 18 minutes. Gotta love it, right? I mean, I don't hate it. I think I might be coming around on the pitch. And there's a lot of action. And the Red Sox are 6. Nobody knew what this garbage Red Sox team was gonna look like getting into this year. We're just letting guys go, sure, Rafi Devers is back, but making all the dumbest moves ever, but we're 6 ML. Have I mentioned that? World Series favorites from Connor right now. Yeah, easy. You know, one thing about this pitch, 'cause I was like, you like it, man. I wasn't sure if I was gonna pick up coming around. But I watched Max Scherzer do something with this pitch clock that there's gonna be a lot of psychological warfare going on. So I don't know if you notice what he did. It was a few games ago. Okay, so the pitch clock's on, you know, the batter can only take one time out, right? To step out of the box to get themselves ready. Sergeant does this thing where he will just stand there and for an uncomfortably long amount of time and just wait. Which forces the batter to like maybe step out and readjust himself. But Scherzer knows that his second the batter gets back in the box, he can throw the ball without giving this so he will stand there and wait and wait and wait for the batter to step out. He uses his time out. He steps back in and then the second he gets set. Here comes the ball and it's just like I don't know if they're going to do something to try to change this. But if not, Scherzer really picked up on something the way the kind of Bill Belichick the rule kind of circumvent kind of use the rule to your advantage. And I was like, okay, this is pretty smart. This is hilarious too because it wasn't sure one of the ones who was like, this is stupid. This is bad for the game. I thought he was kind of the first guy to come out and be like, this isn't going to work. And now he's kind of taking advantage of this kind of certain rules. But some dude over the weekend have a strikeout in 20 seconds. Like literally the bat took 22 seconds and he struck the guy out. They'd see something like that. Anyway, games are going really fast. I think I'm coming around, although I don't want to admit that publicly. Well, if your socks were two and four instead of 6, I think you'd just be complaining so miserable. Tristan Cass is people pick him up in fantasy. All right. We're going to take a break. But before we get to that, guys, Derek Carr's new home. We've been talking about Derek Carr for weeks and weeks and week literally since 2022. We've been talking about Derek Carr. Derek Carr is a new home, and it's New Orleans Saints. He's got a four year deal. According to rap sheet and everybody else, it's a four year deal. Big QB number coming said Ian, they'll make it work with their cap situation. So Derek Carr is going to New Orleans. Our long national Derek car nightmare is over. David Carr, still a free agent, poor Mike garfolo. Trying to be first and put David Carr instead. So where does that leave the jets? We're going to talk about that. We know where that leaves the jets. Okay, we know we knew where this was going. I think so. "Get it on. It's Monday, rich is literally at LAX right now. He is going to be here in a matter of moments, and he will take over the reins. As he gets back from another NFL combine, guys, the combine was awesome. So many guys bawled out so many guys made themselves a lot of money, increased their draft stock for next month's NFL Draft is going to be awesome before we get to any of that stuff. Let's say what's up, TJ, my man. What's up Chris brocklin? So you put some high school highlights on your Instagram. So here's the deal. Let me get to that real quick. Mike, what's up? Adam and my chair, what's up guys? If you want to talk to Adam, he is at my chair right now, literally call Adam and say what's up. 8 four four two or four rich. You know the deal. You talk to Adam all the time. We want to hear from you. So TJ, my high school. So I played at football with Thornton academy in saco main. I believe they just want another football state championship. We've been a powerhouse since I left. Nice highlight reel this week. So that's what I'm saying. It's NFL combine week. I literally didn't pay attention to how we started. We started the show. Thanks, Mike. Appreciate it. It's just like every other morning conversation with you. I'm good. So my high school, my buddy Kirk agresti, who was a year younger than me, he still works at the school as a number of people I went to school with and I coached with. I coach a year at my school when I graduated. And so he created this YouTube page where he's been putting out old games. He's digitizing all these old VHS tapes of football, basketball, girls basketball, field hockey, soccer, based with everything. And he's starting to slowly kind of unravel and debut them on this YouTube channel. So I noticed there's a few months ago and it really got me thinking about it over the weekend watching the combine, one of the best games I was a very average mediocre high school quarterback. I started one year, my senior year, 1997. But I did have a couple of good games. And one of these good games, he just happened to have digitized a few months ago, so I was rewatching it. And I was kind of like, oh man, I forgot about that pass. Hey, I scored a touchdown here. He did. I scored this obnoxious touchdown. It was like a 40 yard run. Through your hand up. And I'm put my hand up like number one like Troy Aikman and that famous Super Bowl clip. Like Brett Favre, like at the 25 yard line. You would definitely get a ton of call in the NFL for doing it. If I would have thought it would be better if I would have thrown up the deuces, right? Untouched touchdown. We steamrolled these guys. I think like 35, 16. I did throw two picks, but I scored three touchdowns. It was there you go. It was pretty fun game, but anyway, thank you for checking that out at brochure on Instagram. But I was not part of the edible combine. Combine went down. You weren't. Flew out of my arm, right? I had that one nice 30 yard pass. Originally to sit here and tell you about stories and front load, what's coming? What's coming in the coming weeks before the NFL Draft? Look into my eyes. Anthony Richardson is going to get so much number one overall pick buzz here in the next few weeks. Absolutely. Just get ready. This dude in case you missed it. Put on an absolute show. But this dude, he is like, you see the comps all weekend TJ, you saw it was he throws it like Josh Allen, he's as fast as Lamar Jackson and he's built like Cam Newton. Yeah. What? 6 four two 44. How do I pre draft Anthony Richardson in fantasy? Can I just call him right now? Can I just call dibs? Is that how that works? I don't think that's your league has some weird rules. So it might work like that. That's true. I know on Friday we talked about everybody was just talking about Bryce young at his height and his weight. He ended up being what, 5, ten, and an 8th or something, which is like a little, a hair under what I am. He weighed in at two O four, which means he really hit del twoo ziti before going to Indianapolis, Mike. Was he carb loading? How do you get from he was listed at like one 85 or something at Alabama? And now he's two O four. Everyone was talking about that. And then it was will levis being, well, I've got a cannon and I'm going to show it off. I got to say stetson Bennett through the deep ball better than will levis on Saturday. And then CJ Stroud, he's said he was the best player in college football the last two seasons. Kind of hard to argue with that. He had one bad game against Michigan, which I'm not sure you heard. Michigan won that game. Do you guys? They did? Have you heard that listening to this show? I think I may have mentioned that once drought had one bad game against Michigan and it cost him the Heisman Trophy. I mean, I'll due respect CJ's job probably was the best player in college football the last two weeks the last two seasons put up absolutely insane stats, but this dude TJ we met Justin Fields at the Super Bowl this year. Also went to Ohio State. This dude's built like Justin Fields. 6 three, two 20 plus big canon arm, said he didn't run his run the ball during college is probably as much as he maybe should have. I think I would take him number one overall. Nobody asked me, but I would take CJ stratum one overall. But all of those quarterbacks, guys, they just got pushed to the back burner. And that's what happens too, especially when you're Bryce young when you don't work out. Yeah. People don't tend to talk about you because there's always one or two guys that kind of leap out. No one Smith, another one of those guys on the defensive side of the Nolan Smith show. Put on an absolute show. Michigan man, DJ Turner, the second ran the fastest combine this year and the fastest 40 was with four two 6. One of the lines in the Michigan lineman put up the most bench press reps. Michigan had a great day. But it's all about Anthony Richardson right now, guys. It's all about Anthony Richardson. I'm telling you right now, rich is going to get into it more. Obviously, he was on the combine 8 million hours on TV with Daniel Jeremiah. They were awesome. I loved watching the coverage. I watched way more coverage than I thought I was going to watch over the weekend. It was just on nonstop. We had a super lazy weekend. Just watching combine golf, the NBA was awesome.
