"Next year's 2024 NCA tournament, the selection show is, I think, 363 days from now, so I look forward to seeing everybody back here in 363 days as we see where we're going to play in the tournament. I'd like to start with some thank yous that are very important to me. I want to thank everybody for the trust and this job. I want to specifically thank Chancellor Boyce Keith Carter and Alan green. It's a special process spent extensive time with these three men, I appreciate their trust and research and me and my life and my career. And I spent some time researching this situation myself. I know what my agent was mentioning, some of the places around college basketball that we might have a chance to. When I heard old miss, it kind of the buck stopped there. It's exactly where I wanted to be. And I look forward in the next few minutes, explain to you why. But the Chancellor is a leader. He has a vision for this place. I really enjoyed spending time with him and I can't wait to work for him and with him. He told me Christian know above all what we do all miss is we build leaders. And I haven't been able to get that out of my mind because I think in our program that's what we try to do a lot with our players and staff is build leaders. And so I had an immediate bond with a Chancellor. Of course, working for Keith is going to be something special. You know, there's not a lot of athletic directors out there that played college athletics at the level that Keith did and certainly at the institution where we're both blessed to work out. He's an all conference player and one of the best leagues in the world. The SEC. So it's just special being a basketball coach, having an athletic director that's played the game at such a high level and found great success in administration. And I feel the same way about Alan very familiar with what he's done in college athletics where he is today and where he's going soon in the future. But these three men really tied it into me and I can't thank them enough. I also want to be really clear of my respect and thanks for the previous coach here, coach Kermit Davis. Kermit did a great job.

"You, et cetera, et cetera? I want to hear that as well. But mister Joe, here's a problem. I don't like smashing you every single day. That motivates me to find my. We tried to be nice. That didn't last too long. Gee is up next in Atlanta. Hello G hey, Paul. How are you doing, man? We are doing great. Well, I got two things I want to talk about. The first part I want everybody out there to SEC country to pray for me. I've been in the hospital for about 16 days on my grab came Lutheran. You know, I'm a dialysis patient and try to blade it. Your calls have met so much to me because and I don't want to, everybody, everybody's going through different things, but I do know firsthand not having gone through it myself, but having relatives, the dialysis, it takes so much out of you and we are so delighted to hear from you. When I was in the hospital, the nurse brother came in and they were missing gay work and make you feel better. I said, good Paul 5 barber showed they didn't have you on the TV and they talking about how to have that done a shot of pain meds. I'd rather have a Paul fine bomb. So get me out of here. Thank you. You know, as you guys dialysis remind me of Jim. We got everybody down so he coaches at the university every day. And you know, we're not listening to Jim when he talks to you, Paul, you always say, you know your best colleague of all that, don't you? Now don't you? No, no. No matter what, he continued to say that, you know, I mean, we okay, we didn't figure that out. You might be one of the best college, but you know, and well for him to call you the devil, man. I said, you know, first, you know, let the latest here, you know, your first cash and stone, you know, I mean, like I said, he is just unbelievable. I mean, he's a great guy. He sometimes, he come and talk to your father and sometimes, man, like you didn't have a shot of a maker's mark. So I'll be there as Ralph schnapp. I don't know. Well, Paul, continue to pray for your brother. I have to tell you, you've inspired me. Knowing what you're going through, you're attitude is priceless and please stay in touch with us and keep getting better. Yes, sir. Thank you, Paul. You have a good day. Thank you. That's incredible. That is and again, I know many, many people out there in various disabilities and illnesses are going through a very difficult time right now. But to go through dialysis with that attitude is truly remarkable. Thank you again. Myth is in Kentucky. You're on the air, go right ahead. Hey Paul, how are you doing today? Myth we are doing great. Thank you. That last caller seemed to be a little bit more down to earth. I'm worried about all the other ones. They're all word to death about Jim. It felt like I've been in a religion class in college or something. Real quick, Paul. I talked to Cal yesterday. How far you think you got the cats going? Call me crazy, but I feel I feel pretty good about the cats. I think that I think their matchups, I think Providence is a good matchup. I think K state could be a good matchup just because of Kentucky's size and length. So I haven't looked beyond the first couple of games, but I like them getting out of this first, I frankly like what I see. Yeah, I think there's a couple of SEC teams that could possibly go pretty deep obviously Alabama's got a lot on their shoulders right now. I think kal said yesterday, the way he talked to me was if they hit about three, we got a chance, but I think we've got to make some threes in order to do that. I will say I was disturbed by what happened in Nashville, but I also think that if there's a team in the tournament that has something to prove, it's Cal. It's cows cats because of what happened last year. And any time you talk about it first and second round matchup, you can cut it any way you want. But based on what I've heard from people that no basketball a lot better than I do, I like what they have in front of them. Yeah, I just want to get it. I think if he wins a few games this year and then with the class coming in, I believe the swag will be back in that's hope. Kentucky basketball is such an integral part of not only the SEC, but of the game of college. Basketball. Let's head to the break. We're heading, we're going to run over

"Here. This is the Paul fine bomb show, our Ford podcast. Our has arrived, we thank all of you for making time for us and it's going to be a busy hour. A lot of calls, but we're also going to listen in to what is happening in Oxford, Mississippi, where the university is about to introduce Chris beard. Everybody is ready. That news conference obviously not started yet, but we'll start here in just a few minutes and we will have it for you. And get the reaction afterwards. But instead of busy day, Kirby smart, speaking at a press conference for the first time since the news of Jalen Carter, listen to what he had to say about the culture at Georgia. No, absolutely. We've got complete control of our program and our kids in our program. Do kids make mistakes. Yes, young student athletes make mistakes. They do. It happens all across the country. It happens here. There's no lack of control for our program. I think our kids across the board will tell you that we have an incredible culture here. We have a connective tissue that brings our team together. Our guys do make mistakes. That's historically probably going to happen when you're 18 to 22 year old. Our job as coaches is to prevent that from happening. And that starts with me and you do it by how you educate your players and how you dissing your discipline your players and we'll continue to do that at a high standard. Kirby is smart earlier today. Let's get back to the call. AC is in Canada. A secret afternoon, by the way, we all were thrilled. We heard from you today. You wrote us a note, and sent us something, and we're all deeply in your debt. Thank you very much. Absolutely. You don't have to say a public. I'm a private man. You don't have to buy appreciate that. Enjoy, man. Enjoy enjoy in joy. Thanks so much for taking my call, mister farm bomb. It's a gift for me to you and everybody. Your team I'm talking about. I do appreciate it. But I want to thank first of all, I want to give a special shuttle to Joe in red bay, even though I never did. No. 7 Texas rolls past No. 3 Kansas 76-56 for Big 12 title

"The 7th ranked Texas longhorns won their second big 12 tournament in three years with a 76 56 win over third ranked Kansas. Dylan de Sioux led the longhorns with 18 points and was named the tournament's most outstanding player. I feel like I couldn't have gotten that away without my teammates. I mean, a lot of my baskets I had to get the ball from a team a pass from then it was assisted baskets. So I mean, without them, I would not do it. In 2021, the longhorns won the tournament under the since departed shock a smart of this year under Rodney Terry, who took over when Chris beard was fired in mid season. Greg iklin, Kansas City.

"The end of the weekend, it would happen, GP, maybe not, but that's my read on it, and I just want to at least address that last carousel bit of news there. I don't know if you have thoughts on that or what? No, I mean, obviously his name is the one most closely connected to that opening. It sounds like, based on the conversations I've had, there are people at the school who are ready to do it yesterday. And there are other people who have a bit of hesitation that really want to make sure they're for lack of a better phrase, crossing all your T's and dotting all your eyes. Making sure you vet this as seriously as you can vet it. But my experience with these types of things is once you, once you get this far down the road with seriously considering hiring somebody who has the baggage that Chris beard will bring with them, once you get this far with it and it's publicly known and it's being he's being described as a quote leading you usually do to play along with your analogy. You usually do get that across the goal line. At this point, we'll see where it goes from here, but there's too much conversation around this for me to think that it's just going to fall apart at the last minute. It can, it might sometimes things do. But more often than not, when you get this far down the road, it ends up where everybody assumes it's going to end up. We'll say. I'm Rick spielman, former general manager of the Minnesota Vikings, and I've made pics in the NFL Draft for over a decade. And I'm Ryan Wilson, senior draft

"And because the most important thing from Memphis to do right now is not to be Houston. It's to not lose to anybody in the American athletic conference other than Houston. If Memphis, if one selection Sunday from this point forward, Memphis has not lost to anybody other than Houston, they'll make the NCA turn. I don't think they have to beat Houston to get there. And so I would focus on having Kindred Davis ready for games that don't involve Houston because not losing those is, I think, more important than trying to beat the projected number one seat. Duly noted, and that's a three cent Tiffany P and the other. Only other game on Sunday of real note is I was at northwestern 6 30 eastern on Big Ten network and northwestern obviously going to try and try and keep pace with second place and try and chase perdue. Last thing for me and then we can get out of here. We do need to mention that the domestic violence charge was dropped by the district attorney's office in Travis county earlier this week against Chris beard, part of the statement from the DA office said, quote, after a careful and thorough review of the evidence, recent public statements and considering mistruths wishes, end quote, my statement. That's Randy true, Chris beard's fiance, quote continued, our office has determined that the felony offense can not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and quote Chris beard released a statement on Thursday. That reads in part quote while I always had faith and confidence in the truth and this outcome and has been extremely challenging to wait patiently and not publicly respond. I'm sorry and deeply remorseful to my family friends and all my players and staff, both most recent and past and everyone at my Alma mater, the University of Texas, including the fans and supporters who were affected by this situation and quote, so the charge has been dropped against Chris beard. This is not a surprising turn of events. We talked about these circumstances that often lead to this exact situation happening. As I tweeted earlier this week, does not mean that what actually happened should be casually dismissed or certainly not forgotten. Although the charge has been officially dropped against Chris beard, certainly I would think that his story is not entirely done yet, but this is going to be forever part of it moving forward. So when this first happened, I think you and I both said, we don't think he'll coach at the power 5 level again. You change your mind on that? I don't think I have. I'm not saying it won't happen. I've heard from a few people that still aren't that confident on it. I don't know. I was on a show earlier in the week and they asked me about it. And there were three hosts and all three of them were like, if I were running an athletic department, I would hire him. And that was just interesting to me because. You know, when this first happens, it's like, oh, well, he's done. And yet here we are just, you know, a few months later, and people are like, I would hire him. And the facts of the case have not changed, the facts of the incident have not changed. The only thing that has changed is they're not going to pursue charges. And people really get caught up on, hey, there were no charges. The charges got dropped. That's something when you're trying to rationalize or justify something, the go to thing is, but the charges got dropped. And as one of the hosts put it, you hire Chris beard, it's going to be some bad PR for a day or a week. But then you've got one of the best coaches in the country. So why would you not do it? And I saw just randomly. Almost fans tweeting literally tweeting the omnic athletic director. Saying, hey, if we make a coaching change, let's look at Chris beard. So that's where we are. I would disagree with the people I was talking to about. It's just a day or a week of bad PR because and if you're comfortable with this, then you're comfortable with it. But the whole crispier thing is not just going to go away in a week. Can you hire Chris beard and he's your head coach? Every time you go on the road, people are going to be chanting things about that incident. Students are. You'll never get away from that. If you go to a final four, this will be part of the story. If you win a national championship conference to anything, this will always be something that is written about your school that is, they will never go away. Do you want to deal with that? I guess reasonable minds could reach a different conclusion on that. But I do believe somebody is going to give him a shot. I think Chris beard's going to be coaching and getting college basketball and probably sooner rather than later. Can I get an answer from you on that? Well, it's logical to conclude that will be the path is eventually goes down. Someone is asking in the chat, this beard now have a case for wrongful termination against the University of Texas. I did have someone who specializes specifically in this kind of stuff, reach out to me earlier this week. And that person basically said that they were texting with me. Let's see if I can get this real quick. I want to use their exact language. Okay, this person said. He would only sue this person who specializes in law and litigation. He will only sue if he's unable to secure future employment. Statute of limitations notwithstanding the clock will start ticking. So this person who is familiar with this area in general believes that there could be a potential case against sexist by beard, but in doing so, you bring all of this stuff, you bring discovery into the picture and it certainly would, it would not be a positive from a public standpoint for Chris beard to pursue that. But if there were no coaching future for him, they could see that happening. So to the question that was asked in the chat, I understand the question why it was asked. I don't know if it will be going down that road. Somebody and I only bring this up in the chat because somebody brought it up in studio the other night. What about New Mexico state? And I'm like, New Mexico state can not hire Chris beard. They can not deal with more bad PR. So I'm not saying crispier can't get hired at a school like New Mexico state. It just can't, it can't be New Mexico state. But I do think it'll be somebody. Because somebody will hold a press conference and talk about it was one bad night, the charges were dropped. The fiance identified herself as the initiator. I'm just telling you how this is going to go down. I'm not telling you I agree with it. I'm just telling you, we will reach a day where Chris beard is introduced as the next basketball coach somewhere and somebody will say all of these things. He's already

"Laying the point with Missouri. At home. I mean, Missouri's got some big wins at home. It has the weird Texas a and M every year there's like the weirdest resume in the country and this year it is it is Texas a and M people started 6 in 5 with losses to wafford, Murray state, and Colorado. And now Texas a and M is 11 and two in the SEC. On a four game winning streak. But Missouri who have been beaten at home. Beat Illinois on a neutral, beat Kentucky at home, beat Arkansas at home, beat Iowa state at home. One at Tennessee at the buzzer. Missourian, Missouri and the home building. Kim English arena. On Kareem rush court, she asked the cream rush, one of my favorites from the early 2000s. I also am taking mizzou in the spot, bubbles in mizzou just got completely throttled on Tuesday by auburn. I mean, that game was over like that. Correct. It was done early. So, but here's the thing with Missouri. You get throttled like that. I made this point somewhere. Wherever it is, you make points. There's still all 7 losses from Missouri are still inside quadrant one. And they're 8 and 7 in the first two quarters. So when you are above 500 in the first two quadrants, with zero losses outside of quadrant one, that's a solid resume. I agree. And Gates

".85 points per possession. What do we think it's going to do? Hostile territory, what do we think it's going to do to Kentucky and rap arena? Tough one. All right. Kentucky got the win against Mississippi state on the road. Little ugly, who cares? You got the win. You needed it. Now, can you respond wildcats? And get a second straight win here. And in doing so, just vault your resume because a loss and you're still you're dancing on the bubble. You're sitting right there on the fence. This way or the other way. I am gonna, you said balls minus four, that's obviously the Ken palm line. Well, that actually be the line for Caesar's when it comes out. I will go, I will go Kentucky to cover this line. Just shame me if we hop on the Sunday pod and we're talking about Tennessee win this game by 12 points. Because I should know better, but I'm going to trust that Kentucky is going to show up ready to play Jacob toppin. We'll have another really good game. She Wei will be up and running and a plus on the floor. And they will get good guard play. Case and Wallace, ready to go. You know? I'll take Kentucky to cover plus four in its home building in a very urgent spot. Kentucky fans are living and dying with every single game here. This is a tasty one. Give me the wildcats. There's obviously been some big results over the past couple of nights. I don't know that anyone is bigger for a coach than John calipari winning at Mississippi state. Like they really, really, really needed that. That was a nice win. Here, yeah, I'll take Kentucky plus the points. I think in our official picks on CBS sports dot com. I can't remember. But I think I took Kentucky to cover Tennessee to win. Yeah, I did. Yeah, that's what I did. Tennessee to win Kentucky to cover, but I'll take just like getting four points inside rup arena with a team that was pre season number one at Ken palm. It's just hard to turn that down. So I'm not gonna turn it down. Game three. 4 p.m. eastern. Number 9 Baylor at number 5 Kansas inside Bill self field House. You can watch that one on ESPN. Kim pom has a Kansas minus four. Baylor, ten and one, and it's that last 11, you can make the case. Kansas has been tremendous, but you can make the case over the past 5 weeks. Baylor has been the best team in the country. Developing as was a common suspicion amongst national media heading into the season that daily might have the best three guard attack in the country and between flagler crier and George, that is becoming the case, if not the case. And this is the kind of game where if Baylor is able, it's able to go in to build self fieldhouse and get a road win I think we've talked about in the pod and about Baylor national title contender. This is the team. It's been a couple of weeks now that we've been talking about this team kind of returning to form and Jonathan chambal chacha, getting not just playing time, but the Latin even shoot from deep and he's four of 9 for three point range so far since coming back from a brutal knee injury. By the way, CJ Moore wrote a really good story. Czar actually wrote two really good stories for the athletic. If you have not read them, do check them out. One is on Jonathan chambal and then a really, really good story. He wrote a couple of weeks back on KJ Adams, who is among the more entertaining players in the country, just a super versatile power wing and so go check those out if you haven't read those already. I really hope we get just an awesome classic jayhawks bears game here GP. This is game three as a reminder, but as another reminder, you don't have to follow your own rules. I'm going to take Baylor to cover. So I've got Kentucky at home being plus foreign covering. I'm gonna take Baylor on the road being plus four and covering this spot, but on the site, I'm gonna have Baylor covering, I will take Kansas to win, let's hope this one has decided, you know, in the final couple of possessions there and what should be a beautiful, beautiful game. This is obviously the best match of the weekend. Okay, this works well for me. Because I'll just lay Kansas for under inside Allen fieldhouse basically every game. But. It's got dru with the drew family is listening. I didn't want

"Season went to the institute of tournament, was a one seed and lost to Villanova famously with that four guard attack in the elite 8, that team did get knocked off in the big east tournament by West Virginia. So I'm going on a tangent here. But that's why I don't have concern about produce three point inconsistency. I think there's just enough with the misses that they'll get those second chance opportunities. But it is a factor. You ran through it, but real quick what's left for Purdue. Ohio State on Sunday on CBS. It's America's most watched network. It's the network of stars. After that, Indiana on February 25th at Wisconsin on March 2nd and then home against Illinois on March 5th, three home games, one road game should be favored in all four. So like I said, I still think Purdue wins the Big Ten by multiple games, but the bowl makers are now just one game ahead of northwestern in the lost column of the Big Ten standings. Purdue, 23 and four overall 12 and four in the Big Ten for what it's worth. I moved them down to fourth in the top 25 and one behind Houston. Alabama and Kansas. Now on Maryland. I move Maryland into the top 25 and one at number 25. They're now 18 and 8 overall 9 and 6 in the Big Ten. They're 8 and 8 in the first two quadrants with zero additional losses. All 8 losses are in quadrant one. There are 6 and one in the past 7 got wins over Purdue and Indiana. 14 and one at home with the loan loss you'll remember this. Do you feel like by 27? How do you never lose at home except for that one time when you nearly lost by 30? Cronin, baby. That's how. No surprise. I'm sorry. That was a rhetorical question. It was rhetorical. What a stupid question I asked. One team at coronin and the other team didn't. So you get what you get. They're up to Maryland 16th at Ken pom 19th in the net 20th at Sagar and that's the good news. The bad news is that after that, by the way, quick thought, okay, give me the bad news, but before you give me the bad news, can I get your, I'm not gonna shame any student body for rushing the floor. You do what you gotta do. That had vibes of like, we hadn't won a home game all season and Maryland fans were deep into it. Produce had its opposing fan base, rushed the floor on them 7 of the past 8 games overall. Quick review of the intensity of that court storm on Thursday night in college park. Well, I used to be anti court storm because it's dangerous. Like people, people do get hurt and can get hurt. Now I've just decided I don't care. Like, get hurt if you want to. It doesn't matter to me anymore. I'm worried about my own children. Whatever happens to everybody else, that's on you guys. So I'm never going to shame a student section for having fun for being fired up. I agree. And so surprised they were that into it. I mean, dad was just, you know. What was it that came? Even Kevin Willard after the game talked about how big this was. For him, for the program for these players. The players talked about how big it was. One of the players said coach talked to us in the locker room and just said, remember where you were last year. Now think about where you are right now. And it is pretty dramatically different. Okay, the kids are already asking what's for dinner, but breaking news, empty fridge. That's okay. I'll Instacart. Let's add some organic asparagus and some farm fresh chicken, easy. Wait, is the oldest vegetarian this week, or was it gluten free? Gluten free pasta.

"Button like your Brandon Davies, you have consent and if you haven't yet, subscribe to the YouTube channel, knock that out while you're here. Let's get into it. The biggest game on Thursday night schedule was a Big Ten showdown between Purdue and Maryland. The biggest question could Purdue get back on track after losing at northwestern on Super Bowl Sunday. The answer was no. Final score Maryland 68 perdue 54 Purdue trailed by as many as 18 points before losing by 14 so the boilermakers are now one in three in the past four games with all three losses coming to sub 15 Ken pom teams, dead leg on a scale of one to North Carolina. How concerned are you these days about Matt painter's team? How about a three, but sub 15 Ken pop teams? That seems like a stretch for qualification there, GP. That's called a fact. What I just did what I just, the words that came out of my mouth were effect. I know sometimes people who listen to this podcast, they don't like facts. They don't like facts, but that was a fact what I just told you, three losses to sub 15 Kim pump teams. Not necessarily the most disgraceful thing in the world. And they're all reasonable in terms of competition because Indiana northwestern and Maryland are all tracking to the tournament and with northwestern and Maryland, Purdue's actually produced providing its laying groundwork to make that happen by nature of getting wins over the boilermakers. And yeah, through the past four games for Purdue have been on the road and all those three have come in losses. And for Purdue, the good news is three or final four are going to be at home to Ohio State, a really rocking one next weekend, Indiana is going to come to town and you'll close up against Illinois. The road game is against Wisconsin. So here's my get to Maryland, but real quick on Purdue. I'm loving this. You know why I'm loving this? Because people are going to be so damn eager to fade this team. Go ahead, get involved. Go ahead. Dismiss this team. It's Purdue. They never went in the tournament. They never make friends. Go. Go. I don't need you, okay? This is exactly going as to plan. In fact, Purdue don't even win the Big Ten tournament. Do me a favor. Get dropped in the semis. Still have, I have the same amount of faith in this team to make the final four as I did a week ago two weeks ago, three weeks ago. Losses were inevitable. No, it has not, it was never separated from the rest of the sport. I still think that Purdue is capable of winning the national championship. I still like them as much as almost anyone to win four games in the NCAA tournament. It's gotten tripped up here. Some of the guard play, the youthfulness, the size, the athleticism, hasn't been exposed to sure it has Edie been less than what he's been absolutely having said that he's still the FrontRunner for national player of the year. I'm still not stepping off that. And I'm still not stepping off Purdue is going to win the Big Ten. I said it was a mortal lock a month ago. I'm staying on that as we talk this morning. You're standings read, Purdue, 12 and four. One game behind your northwestern wildcats attendant 5, it's incredible. And then behind that, we have an absolute log jam with Maryland, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan state all with 6 losses. Rutgers in Michigan, one game behind there. Don't think northwestern's gonna catch Purdue in order to share the Big Ten title. Northwestern still has three of its final four on the road included in that is a home game against Iowa. They've been playing well. So those are my thoughts on pretty. I do want to talk Marilyn, but any rebound of what I said, do you want to dispute? Do you want to agree? Do you want to vehemently disagree with my stance that remains unchanged on Matt painter's team? I'm less confident in Purdue today than I was, say, two weeks ago, but I do still believe the boilermakers are going to win the Big Ten, and I still do things that Edie is going to be the national player of the year. And I still do believe that Purdue is capable of, yeah, going to a final four for the first time since 1980. And also winning the national championship, but they have come back to earth a little bit. And let me ask you this because you mentioned two things there. The guard play has fallen off a little bit. Particularly with Fletcher lawyer, who was just not shooting the ball well at all. In these past three lawsuits. And Zach Edie, who is still amazing, but not as amazing as he was for much of the season. Are those two things connected? Maybe a little bit. I think they certainly could be. I think a big reason why Purdue is done what it has done or not done what it's done is teams are effectively doubling Edie. I think Edie a little bit. I'm not saying he's in his own head, but a lot of this was coming on when I sat down and interviewed him less than a month ago. He is capable of handling this, but as it was as he said in my feature on him, it was starting to feel surreal that this was actually all kind of happening. And so maybe there was some internalization there and he's just going to get through this bumpy patch and then we'll look up in a couple of weeks and, you know, I wouldn't surprise me if you just got a couple more 34 and 20 games in them. It just wouldn't. With freshman guards, I just think this is inevitable. Like they've never played this level of competition, particularly because they weren't 5 star players. Now Braden Smith has moments. He's unafraid and I still think they've got a lot of big moments to come. But yeah, I think there is something to that, but I will add, and I know that you'll agree. I know that painter hasn't made a final four yet. And I'll have something. I talked with him about it when I went out to Purdue. I'll have a story about that kind of stuff. Sometime either later in February and March. But there are a few coaches better I think equipped mentally to handle this kind of stuff. I just don't think that that locker room is out of sorts whatsoever, and I don't think that Purdue is teetering on a cliff. I just don't. If anything, you know, in the past week I've heard more and more either written or talked about television shows podcasts about this is this really is the new normal in college hoops. We don't have dynastic powers year over year. And there's something to that. I get that and maybe what Purdue hasn't been able to do is reflective of that. The loss, by the way, with Bama this week tied the record all time with 8 losses by a number one ranked team in a season. If we have Houston will probably be number one on Monday and a few soon ever takes another loss before we get to the postseason, we'll have a new record. So there is something to that. But I'm not, I'm not concerned about Purdue as a national championship contender, despite the fact that this lost three of the four, again, they're all tournament level teams, and if you watch the games, I give as much credit to actually how Chris Collins and Woodson and how I mean really Kevin Willard did a wonderful job and he even said I knew we were going to win this game. It's easy to say that and press her after GP after you've actually done it. But I believe him if you would have gone to him 5 hours before the tip that he would have had a high degree of confidence, they're going to pull it off and credit to him. They did.

"You can go out with your hands. So could you get a look, you could get a small heater in here. No? The first thing was the coolest night. So you'll be fine after that, you think? Just bundle up. Yeah. I don't think we're sleeping much tonight. If I brought my really warm coat, I want to let them use it, you know? Like I got one of those little guy you are. You gotta go out and get him something more. I don't know. I think they're okay, they'll look. I mean, they just got a great setup. That's awesome. It's pretty good. All right, I'm gonna walk out of the tent now. We're gonna go for a little tour down here. What's that? They got another ten over here, rob. All right. How many tents are there? How many people are camping out? Walking on Milwaukee and other markets. At least a 110. A 110. Say hello to Robbie humble. They will come. If the building, they will come. It's pretty good here. I'm gonna go up top and show you. Oh my God. What's up, guys? How are you? So it goes all the way around, all the way around. A man of the people. People recognize him. This is honestly this is awesome. Texas tech is happening though. I mean, this was unimaginable before Chris beard got there. I was here two years ago. Was it two years ago? Right before the pandemic, I think when Kentucky came here and it was not the tenths like this, but it was like a huge party out here. They had food. They had everything. I think there might have been tense. Are you close to the arena? Are you more so like on campus kind of? I know. The arena is right behind the arena right here. Okay. This is right in front of the arena, so. All right, do you want to talk a little bit about you want to move on? Do you want to give a prediction of this game? I'm going Texas tech. I just think they're toughness is in that environment. It's going to come into play. They have so much to play for. And I just think that in order to win in a place like that, you have got to be a group that has got to figure it out and together and I just don't think Texas that group. So I have to go Texas tech. I'm the way I'm taking Texas tech too. Let's find out what these guys are, what they think. Hey guys, you want to be in a quick podcast, give you a prediction of Jessica. What's up? How are you? How are you, man? What's your name? Jonathan. That's your last week here. Oh, a good thing. Are you an answering him? Why have you been answering this guy, Joe? See? He likes me. Hey, so I didn't like you. I know you didn't. No, you liked him. You like me a few years ago. Whenever you're talking great about, yes. Yeah, but beer was here and you guys were really good. I was slowing you guys out. Right, and then you hated me. Now you like me again. Well, you went on the podcast. I said it was the worst job in the league. I know, I know. It's not the worst job. The slander that you did the Texas tech. They don't deserve this. All right, let me get these girls. You're predicting. Well, first of all, say hello to Robbie. How are you guys doing? Good. What's your name? Madison. All right, so your reaction when crispy, it's going to come out tomorrow on the court. It's going to be what? I'll probably be pretty upset. Are you going to yell at bad things up? There is a possibility. Really? I got to say there is. Your mom and dad are not going to be happy. My mom and dad are talking about me. I want to ask you really quick. I want to ask you really quick. In any way, do you feel, will you feel bad for him and do you in any way understand why he would leave? I definitely don't feel bad for him. I think that we had a great community here and everyone loved him. And so I don't see any reason. He should have left or he should have given us more of a decency of talking to us. Like, letting every like all of his fans know instead of kind of just like jumping off. Yep. What do you got there? Got my little art project. I like it. Yeah, I got to say entertained. This is gonna be fun. I know. I'm jealous. You're gonna get to see this tomorrow. How do you not come for this game? No, you broke up with your tank. What makes you do that? 200 bucks. Somebody donated said they donate $200 to charity if I change it. Awesome. Got it. My guy, Jeff is. I don't know. I don't need to this. A hundred bucks to this. No problem. All right. Say hello to her. What's your name? You're both Addison? Yeah. You're not out of school too. Yeah. What do you got? All right. Very nice to meet you guys. So give me one word to describe Chris spirit. That seems to be the common theme problem. Addison number two coming up with ugly. That's brutal. What's up, man? Yeah, yeah. How you doing? Good. Guys, how are you? Just a celebrity. Not yet. What? The other guys, they're freshman, so I couldn't even buy them beer. I could come back and bring you beer. Are you 21? I'll go get some beer later and bring some beer up. What if that room? You're a real hero. My cornhole over there. It's awesome. I know. This is from. No, this looks awesome. It's gonna be a big time atmosphere. There's no doubt. That place gets you out too. Can you see it all? Yeah, no, the football field and all the kids on the tents. Yes. It's pretty unbelievable to think of where Texas tech basketball was ten years ago and to think that they have this today. You know what? People aren't going to like hearing that, but that is a credit to Chris. Chris beard. What's your name again? I'm shocked. Jonathan, Jonathan, are you from Lubbock? No, I'm from the Dallas area, but both my parents are here. And I know the whole I do hope love night. And I will agree. I will agree with y'all. I don't know if crispier doesn't know this. By himself, no. But we wouldn't be here without the same. So there is some level of appreciation. Absolutely. But there's more hatred for him leaving in the way he left. I think it's more of the way he left. That's what everybody's saying. But I felt like there was a lot of venom the day he left. Even before anybody knew. Yes, because of the way he did it. It's not about where he went. I really don't believe that. It's about the way he went about doing it. You're thinking, and he made them believe that he was going to stay forever 'cause he was supposed to do there. Well, I may leave. I mean, I think if he had been more honest and forthcoming and been like, and like I think Addison said, talked through the process, it would be different. That was whenever he was meeting with or I think that was whenever he was at 5, or he was McDonald's and by the end. I think it was he was meeting with somebody about his next job. The only thing I'll say is that shit happens everywhere. I have nothing you can do. You can try to keep it as wide as you want, but ultimately I think honestly, if I was him, I would have been saying from the moment I took that job, rob. It's my Alma mater. It's mama mater. It's mama. I would have said that I'm fucking thousand times..

"Homo podcast. I'm Jeff Goodman. Robbie you there? Where are you at? I'm outside my ear. I was going to do it for my hotel room, the podcast, but I figured you'd rather get some scene here. No, I like that. Mark. I mean, first of all, listen, I left two feet of fucking snow. I'm not going back. I'm not. I'm like, what is it? 70? 65? All right, what do you guys think? Jackson? Jackson and rich, we got robbed. We actually go. We're going to do the podcast from their tents. They're like, one, two, three, four, 5, 6, and they're about 89 in the ten. First of all, guys, tell me the rules. The rules for the tent. Because I know like duke, you have to have a certain amount of people that go ahead. What are the rules? So basically, the rules are one person based at the all times. And when you put your and you get a wristband. So we got the Saturday iris man. Nice. So there's Sunday Night wristbands and then there's gonna be tonight restraints. And so when we take up all our tents, probably around ten tomorrow morning we'll just look at our wristbands and we'll just get pretty good seats. So come on, you can tell me the truth. Mom and dad aren't listening. No, I went to my class this morning, so you're able to go to class. You are one of them. Yeah. So you can have so many replace you too. Come out and do it. You hear that rob? Hey, I'm proud of you guys. Have you guys named your tent city yet? Like duke is just chesky mill. Have you guys given the name to this? Raider Bill Robert. All right. He wants Mark adamsville. Mark Adams, I like that. That's a good name. Let's get into check out the tenure. All right. I'm excited here. I might stay here tonight. Forget the residents did, right? Yeah. Why do I need the rest of your kid? Look at this. Yeah, you guys have any room for me? If you want, dude, seriously, for sure. See, look, they liked me rob. They know, they know you were talking bad about Texas tech before the season. I have come around. All right, I'm gonna set this down and we're gonna try to do this 5 right here, rob. Tell me when we gotta set up okay. Okay. It's not a lot of firm. Hold on. Might be able to figure something out here. I think we got it. I think we got it wrong. Just bear with me. Trying to figure this out. You know, you know me and technology. Now you guys are in here. You doing it? Yeah, you're in. You're in. I just got to figure this thing out. And then we'll do it. All right, and we all in. Are we in the shot or no? Yeah. Well, now that film now. Trying to try to figure it out. It's not easy. It's not easy. We're in. All right, you guys are in. I want to ask the first question to the guys, all right? Get a little closer. A little closer. So we can hear you better. What is your guys opinion of Chris beard? Trader. He's a trader. I mean, a lot of people around here didn't know. It wasn't about him leaving. It was about how he left. And how he what do you mean? The last second in essentially tried to destroy the program, taking all the coaches within the stock recruitment. So I think that's where the majority of the animosity comes from. So there is the misnomer is just that he left Texas tech to go to Texas. It's not just that he did that. It's how the perception. Right. I know, I'm in again, that stuff's hard to prove, right? Like how many players he was trying. I heard this too. The new shot take all the players with him, all the coaches, everything like that. But ultimately, it comes down to still rob that he left Texas tech for Texas, right? See, I don't agree. I don't agree. I think and I'd like to hear your guys opinion is the bigger issue that he made you guys feel like, yo, he is one of us. Like, we are going to do this blue collar. We're going to beat teams like Texas. And I know Texas is your guy's rival, but isn't it because he made you guys feel like, yo, I'm in this for the long run. We went to the final four, or is it more than it is? Texas and that's your rival. I mean, it's just like with, you know, he was offered a lifetime deal to stay here. And you know a lot of quotes as he was home. He would go to water like a 2 a.m. in the morning, like he was. I agree, listen, I would still admit this and I think rob would too. He fit Texas tech better. But I still feel like and you guys aren't going to want to hear this. But I still feel like at Texas, you have the ability to recruit a higher level player on a consistent basis. He got McDonald's on Americans. He got good transfers. But like Kevin Durant isn't coming to Texas. I will say though, Jeff, they also have the ability to have 15 people at their next game. 100% there don't give a shit. Yes. I'm with you on that. They have no, I mean, these fans are Texas tech is an awesome environment. Rob, how many times you've been there? I'm probably Ben to love it 6 or 7 times. Were you guys there for the vanilla ice halftime concert? No, I was. They're too young. Okay. I was like, well, it's free COVID, so I guess that was three years ago now. You're both fresh. So they're both freshmen. So think about this. What they walk into this year and how exciting this seriously, I came all the way for this game. Like, it didn't matter, honestly, the rankings are irrelevant. Like, to me, this is about Chris beard walking into this arena and just seeing the reception that he gets. What's he gonna be like? Are you gonna profanities? Like, we got some preparedness. You hear that? You hear that right? Everything. Do you guys have the scouting report stuff? Like the sheet of all this, like is it like a needed camera up here? It's in our minds. This is the biggest game of the year. You could lose every other game, but you like this is the game you have to win. For sure. Like if you went one in 30, but you beat beard. You might be great. That's crazy. That is crazy. I would say like on the prospects and getting good recruits like Texas tech was built on three star reviews. Totally who worked hard in the gym and you know be expectations and rose up from the ashes literally. And so when he does that and of course, I credit him for that credit for building the program, but then he just left a UT but he left it in a better spot. I'll play devil's advocate a little bit here in he did leave it in a really good spot. I mean, when he came here after tubby left, it was okay. Now obviously everybody now is saying it was all Mark Adams. I think we can agree that it was probably a combination of them and some of the other here is probably charisma late in the next. One behind that movie. Get closer. You guys, I don't know if these suits can hear it all. So what did you say? I was basically just saying that Chris beard's charisma was able to geek out those recruits for us and those years, but Mark.

"It's been a pretty slow week in college basketball. Exactly zero icons have announced their retirement plans. No assistance have been named their schools coach in waiting. But i did talk to texas coach chris beard earlier in the week. So let's talk about that deadline. Let me start by asking you. This most seemed to believe that crispier will in the long term and perhaps in the short term as well but certainly in the long-term proved to be the best hire from two thousand and twenty one. Do you agree with that. I don't know if he'll have not not not explicitly so i think that he's got a really good shot at being very successful. I think his odds are probably the best. But i also think the nature of the job. He's taking the league. he's taking it in even kansas. Gets you know. Dial back here a more than a few notches for a few years. It's still going to be kansas bill. Self has an ideal contract situation going forward so he would not be my pick. He would not be most likely picked to do the best job at this school for the long term. I think he has to objectively be in like the top three of that conversation. Hell he might be your number one. That's part of why you spoke them to begin with but he would not be my pick to be the most successful at the school. Among the hires power conferences in this cycle. Then who would be. Okay i will go with craig smith because i think craig smith has the best chance at both having success and staying at that school. Not that chris. Beard won't like chris beers at texas for the next twenty years and won a national championship. Of course. I could foresee that happening but to me. Correct smith has been really good at south dakota utah state. Now he's going to go to utah. And i think this is a situation. I you know we're all just shooting darts here. But i think that is most likely spot for coach. Have long term success at that

I assume i'm not working for espn who cares. It was totally taken out of context. And i want to explain it. Good for another good friend but a friend of mine Slick leonard passed away. Click leonard and i'm going to get into him during his five cast because his story is unbelievable. Pacers player won a national championship without you broadcast in the basketball hall of fame when i was going through some stuff About a month ago on twitter. He sent me a note very sick lately but he. He sent me a note. Basically saying houthem. Don't worry about things you can't control caria and then some other things and i kind of use that and as i was talking about six death he died during my show and was really unprepared. I said look. I don't know what's going to happen with. Espn is not going. Have me but you know what. Screw it i got. I can't worry about things that are in. That was the context. And then i talked about The hassle with with these professors. And i said well as best thing that ever happened to me because my wife and i after that started going with a cup of coffee downstairs every day and reading the bible since then and i actually on my show. I showed the number of plans that we had done for the last thirty four days and like like things do in a city of a million people somehow. This became the biggest story. In the indy star in the usa. Today picked it up. And i got my espn shirt on south. I love working at espn. I love the relationships that i have. Whether it's you or taylor bonetti or day fleming or art fox or leave fitting. I love it and i was simply making the point and i must've done very poorly that i can't worry because it's a big. It's a big thing in my life whether i'll be back with the because i love it. If if mick cronin in la where they do care about the style fly and again you win. Four are we. I don't think the texas fan base is passionate enough or involved enough to care about the stock winning. They will be all about in the end of the day they're winning. They will still wonder about. A hubert's are great guy from everything i heard but a lot of people questioned that are that are close to him whether he's the right guy for the job where it's another kind of teen smith. Bill guttridge type deal in hubert's better assistant head coach. I think west. Miller is awesome job. He's done amid majoring stranded I don't know how much hubert is involved in recruiting to be honest over the last few years but like west is in the area. Yeah he hasn't recruited how major dudes but he knows all the guys that you probably need to know for the most part in that area a us. Is there anybody outside of the carolina. Could've chris holdman get a call or or is it just. I just don't think they'll do it. Yeah i just. Don't think again that if carolina involve accounting the only thing you say is bob accounting have their ideas carolina guy. So maybe but. I think he's going to get pushback if he tries to go outside the family. I think all those players will be pissed off. So i think i need to do is go in the family if you can't and if there's nobody there which again listen neither west miller or davis or jerry stackhouse my guy or Yeah or king. Rice or jared haas. None of like same thing to do by the way with this thing opens the duke. We're gonna have the same the same scenario like who do we go with. Is there a guy within the family. i just can't see a scenario where they don't keep it. I haven't seen his name and honestly this is bad. I'm not i assume based on the band is steve. robinson still insisted yes.

"Be at a different level after that. I mean three thousand titles. He said two of the best jobs in America and a lot of people Hammer him for that route. A lot of people over the years were like he rolls the ball out. You know, he's had the two best jobs in college basketball. Well, I don't think he quite got his his credit. Yeah. I mean, he's still going to get the players there and he's still got a coach em up, but he had to work hard to get the Kansas job tonight. We just do lunch to you and me so but yeah, he certainly has been into really good places, but I don't know. You know, you mentioned one. You mentioned Coach K. He can't be that far behind. He's gotta be the type of next year. Yeah. I think he's in the next he's top-six said coach in college basketball. I mean he had a phenomenal career and I don't think you can ever Ding A guy for for where he's at it he had to get there first and he was a Carolina he paid his dues to get that job as an assistant and you know a guy that the Carolina family trusted and yeah, I think he's gotta be one of the top six or seven churches that we've had in college basketball. Yeah, he was always very fair to me. You know, even when when you criticize him extremely Fair we had made a couple of of mishaps with whom you want involved. I know this one honestly wasn't either one of our faults. I'm trying to remember all the specifics but it was basically when all this stuff came out about the academic schedule. There are a bunch of Carolina players that sent a letter to me I believe how far is it s p n or maybe it's CBS bought a bunch of players sent a letter to me emailed me a letter and Roy for some reason didn't think that I used the letter or something like that that I did not do what the players wanted me to do. And I I send along too. I think it was maybe the desk or whatnot and and then it was kind of out of my hands. So I remember it wouldn't let me into practice birth. Usually he was great about let me and I had no idea why the next year I asked him to go to practice..

"A while now, it's using about off with a room here. It's easier it's reliable to where you know, I've seen I have no idea where you March Madness right now. There's never been a better time to give bettridge tried that rivers. Com today for download the better than the normal. It must be 21 years later. They're telling Robin call one eight hundred number maybe 20 minutes. It's not bad. I'm doing the I I did the elite eight games and then I'm doing the 3x for you stuff now and I think they just needed a hotel where they could fit everybody in cuz there's a lot of there's you know speaking teams of four kids. There's some staff and some announcers and they actually brought in the guys I play through and three went to teach the college. I had a play like the rules of stuff cuz there are some funky rules on it. So they're they're doing that over at the at a fitness club right now, and they'll play downtown by Lucas Oil thinking an old old hockey arena, so maybe if you're nice, Have you screwed anybody up yet with three and three like tips are you getting clinics? I'm a great mentor to the kids. And if you're nicely off you you Mentor in the same sentence man. I never thought I heard those words. I I mean I played long enough. You always joke that I played twenty-seven students who couldn't I meant or anybody you hear you could you could you could absolutely Mentor at some point. All right. Let's not we got plenty of news to talk about today. Rob plenty of news. It started with the retirement of one Roy Williams and a guy was one of the greatest in our sport. I mean no doubt about it. And you know, I'd heard the rumbling of especially over the last week route because you started to hear that a lot of guys were going to go pro from Carolina or we're going to transfer and Roy was getting frustrated and he might call it a career but dead. As recently as like 2 days ago, he's calling recruits. So I think he was still torn up until the last 48 hours. But ultimately from talking to people it was a combination of things. He's 70 years old. Number one. They're not going to have a chance to win a National Title next year. He's frustrated by the fact that he's never had kids transfer out of his program into the last couple of years. And now there's a bunch off and then you add in the name image likeness that's on the horizon and it just the landscape has completely changing in college basketball. I think Roy the first of multiple guys that are or anyway, whether it's okay bay Haim, maybe Leonard. I know he just an extension, but I think a lot of these guys are going to get frustrated with the changing landscape of college basketball..

"You'd put money on. Okay. So think about that. We'll have a big three and a little three. We'll have the first three and then four through six on the world rankings court should probably going to pick the top three guys on the world rankings for your big three. But you know, after that and after the last two weeks, I'm not sure I'm not sure if there's truly a big three, well, we'll talk about this about sure if there's really a big three then we will take calls. I want to hear other people's big three and we're gonna play some interactive trivia to question next next segment, but to numbers five one two eight three six zero five ninety before we get to the break. I want to get your thoughts on the Longhorn basketball game today. Ben and talked about it and a lot more. We're we're galette. They were gained. They led at halftime. But they still can't get it done in crunch time. And the longhorns it's not getting better because they have Kansas next Monday. Then they have Oklahoma Saturday than they've got national right tissue the following Wednesday. This is. Is a tough tough road to hell for shocker smart asset something jokingly to to cart bowls about is the big twelve the worst conference offensively in the country. Or is it the best conference defensively in the country? And I think the answer may be the first one. You know? I just think there's a lot of teams that can't hit shots. And I do have a problem with shock at coming out of timeouts. Other coaches seem to be able to have a play that works. I bet tech scored. And now they scored three baskets out of timeouts onset plays inbound place inbound plays, and I don't think Texas did. Yeah. And that's, you know, six points here. That's the difference in the game. How 'bout that crowd today too? I thought tech was very loud tech had a lot of a lot of support there. Yeah. And it really strange because you only usually here that when it's Kansas when Kansas comes or when the aggies user baggy fans, but I thought it was unbelievable today. How loud the Texas Tech folks were and quite frankly shame on you. You people who've got season tickets who sold prime seats to Texas Tech people because Texas Tech folks, they weren't all of the project like the Kansas, folks. Usually are they had a ton of people in the lower floor. They did they had a lot of people in there. And this this arguably was the biggest game of the year at home for Texas. I'm in Kansas will be a big game. But, you know, text number four in the concrete eight in the country. Somebody said they were four and one of those other polls. Sure sure that they call it. And they've only lost one game. But. But how about the Texas Tech job that Chris beard has done a former Longhorn, Texas, actually, really and lost his two best players that graduated. Yeah. And he lost a play early on today. With an ankle injury walked off the court butter. What a job he's done. He really good. Okay. When we come back. We're going to talk about who are your big three in golf. Now. Let me just say this. I'm not sure if there is a big
