"Is needed time night? This as you know he's worked with several different presidents. He's had a long career within the federal government and he knows better than almost anyone how to move the various levers of government. This particular president is certainly challenging him. In a way. I've never seen before. I'm Chris Amy Pope there from the Chatham House think tank stating the current president is challenging the US ability to confront a crisis There are however several other figures across the US who have come to prominence. Thanks to their own handling of the outbreak in their own corners of the country. Is there anyone particularly? That is caught your attention. Well I think to the point that amy made in that clip. Competence is playing a very important role right now. Right and it's it's raising the profile of certain people that are steady hands if you will in this crisis in so I particularly of course in the US. Shine a light on the role of governors It's been very interesting to watch as they don't otherwise necessarily get quite as much attention as this but A bunch of the focus for example of course has been on Andrew Cuomo in New York But I would actually give some special mention to a few others For example some Republican governors who have stepped up and reacted In their states Even at a time when Donald Trump was not in favor of of quick action earlier in March for example Mike Dewine of Ohio who also delayed elections there Which was a quite a wise move at a time where there is a lot of uncertainty around what was going to happen. Another one is Larry Hogan out of Maryland. He's also been somebody who Issued stay at home orders for his State Quite early on and This is going to be an interesting Little battle as it were we also because we also heard Donald Trump Speaking yesterday Essentially arguing that he had primacy over. The governor's and that his word would go over what they wanted when it came to a restarting the economy in reopening some of these states. So this is going to be quite an interesting Battle communication wise and constitutionally if Donald Trump takes any special actions to try and enforce his moves in the coming months to try and open the economy before some of these states. Ready the one other one I would. Mention is Gretchen. Whitmer of Michigan. She's a Democrat But interestingly she has won enough praise that she's entering speculation race. If you will about whether to be Joe Biden Vice President so this pandemic has certainly raised the profile of some people that went might not have expected otherwise while if there's jostling for influence among various branches of government in the United States that seems to be taking place in Russia to President Vladimir Putin seems to be struggling to manage the soaring members of Corona Virus Infections. They're on today's edition of the briefing mark. Galliotti WHO's the author of the forthcoming book? Short history of Russia explained how President Putin has been forced to react the outbreak but other Russian leaders and by the Russian public. He's coming to the party pretty belatedly. I mean he was the one who had I was saying. This is fine. We're all settled is not going to be a problem. It was the mayor of Moscow so beyond in who actually said look. We really are facing something and in much the same way. The pressure really has come come from below Andrew. Is it surprising to you that a leader like Vladimir Putin has apparently be caught off guard by by something like this? Well it's interesting isn't it? Because you know we we know from the history of Russia you badly-managed moments like this can topple leaders. You know we. We have this narrative that perhaps the response to Genova was partly to blame for the downfall of the old Soviet regime when people begin to began to distrust how their leaders had reacted to a huge crisis. So you would imagine people would be alert to these things. But there's a few problems in the scale of Russia is very difficult manage and we know that there are many cases in the east. But when you look at a map of Russia whether they're charting where outbreaks have happened. Seemed to be no spots at all in the east. But we know that it's there because the Chinese problems of people crossing the border who already have corona virus. We feel that maybe Russia was a bit slow to start testing. And there's still this kind of faith in the big state kind of sorting things out and even today you know Putin has been saying that there's GonNa be an important role for the army in managing this crisis but that isn't really the way to solve. Its healthcare workers are going to be the primary people who fix that and again you have a patchy healthcare service across Russia. So he's in a difficult position because he doesn't have the small country like Austria effects. He doesn't have the wealth of somewhere like Switzerland here. He has a big nation to try and fix and there just doesn't seem to be the testing happening either but yes. I would imagine his little bit concerned how this will play out over the coming days and a bit like Donald Trump in America. I'm sure he's going to be keen to make sure that any of the blowback doesn't particularly stick to him and Chris going back to the US and Donald Trump this convoluted attempt to control the narrative at ferry at various points in this crisis. Do you have any sense of how some of Vladimir Putin will attempt to try and reclaim the control of this even if it's just in the sense of the optics among the Russian public well? It's interesting isn't it as and you talked about the The the curse if you're not the curse but the the effect that crisis can have with authoritarian leaders if it if it wakes up the public potentially there is also this this other side to it right for example what we've seen in China because somebody like Putin or in China can gain control of the narrative relatively quickly if they if they try and can perhaps change it for more quickly than in democracies if they were to engage in more perhaps. Jakonen measures as well to to get this crisis under control. And we've of course seen that in in China which has been very busy rebuilding the narrative around its handling of the pandemic. It obviously faced a lot of criticism early on for responding quite slowly and even pretending for a little bit of time that the virus was didn't really exist or was not something serious that the world had to deal with But it since then of course got very very aggressive in its response closed. Cities Closed Wuhan Got The virus under control and is now trying to change the narrative around How this virus emerged in the first place. So perhaps that's a that's not a positive lesson because that's something of of a warning Would argue as well for media and others To pay attention to authoritarian leaders and perhaps not let them get away with bringing a virus like this under control in ways that That deny what happened in the first place was suppose for thought that Chris an appropriate place to draw this discussion to a close. "The way up until eleven o'clock after this one tonight, but three times the blues lead three times the blues gave it up and three times they responded with another goal as they went at four three and take a two one series lead. And Chris Amy just continuing to say the word relentless after Craig ruby talked about that in the Winnipeg series and again, Amy Senate. There's something special about this team that we have not seen at least in in my years. I know your years covering this blues team. Yeah. And there's just no panic whether you're up on the road, and I will say to like the goals Dallas scoring Jordan Bennington. Canto anything about those given up a goal. This this play where come on or he really like got beat. Whereas the blues just kind of beating Ben Bishop. I heard you guys talking about that on the game show is I was headed over here after cardinals pre game. And there is just a a mentality. I think in a disciplined their game maybe take out parts of the game on Saturday where they kind of got out of their game gave it a little bit Dallas. But okay, we don't score on the power play. And Dow's get the short end goal. We're going to get back to our system and try to put pucks headed Alex potential beats Ben Bishop. Okay. They're going to score in their crowds. Go bonkers, and that's gonna take the moment right back. We're gonna stick to our game. Try to get to the front of the net all night trying to jam those goals in on Ben Bishop trying to get something dirty. They did Bennington comb under pressure. You just have a feeling whether it's breakaway or not man rushed it that. He's going to make the save. And I really believe the team has taken on his demeanor his mentality. I still think that you could make shirts that the slogan for the team from Bennington could be do. We look nervous because they. Haven't looked nervous game one in Winnipeg game five in Winnipeg. Even the two games that went one here. It's just they have not broken. We really haven't seen those long lapses that can kill team the Stanley Cup playoff. That's a great point that this team had rubies demeanor to. Yeah. Absolutely. Which meshes well with Bennington demeanor. Right. Even though that's kind of interesting through has the emotion. Right. You see motion from Benton. So he is calm and cool in the sense of he's very very confident. Then he seems to be unflappable no matter what loss Baru has such confidence in his team that you also see his emotion. Right. Bark at the refs barking at the players at practice. He'll bark at the players. But he has he's earned the right to do that. Is there a better way to end in again the series in season could go on much longer? But is there a better way to go into the postseason the way it has been of Jaden Schwartz stealing the show in the first series and really in this series? So far he has six goals a four way tie right now for most goals scored in the playoffs by three other guys that aren't even in the playoffs anymore, but you have Schwartz. And now you have Pat maroon who not only has the game winner in this one. But he had the game winner in game two against the Winnipeg Jets. So you have two guys that nobody considered to be a factor in this time of the year that are being the main reason, they're going places people have asked me a lot recently and throughout the year about Padme room, for instance. And I think that. The arc of Pat season. And what he's doing now is kind of exactly the ark of the blue season where there's a lot of excitement about the blues team because the additions they made the personnel. They had the expectations a lot of excitement about Pat maroon and while he certainly was not the only guy that was not playing well the first couple months of the season. And by no means was he a massive strain on the cap or anything. It was a friendly deal. There was still a lot of pressure on him. And I think that because he was the Saint Louis guy. He'll talk to the media and people were fired up about him. He took a brunt of it. You know, he took a brunt of the criticism and was maybe being treated like a guy who had a five or six million dollars cap it and was putting his numbers was he ever going to be twenty score. Again, if he's not on the line with Connor mcdavid. I don't think so. But as the blue started playing better pepper and started playing better. And I think Pat maroon started playing Pat, maroon hockey, I think everyone started to do that Jaden Schwartz. Maybe stop squeezing stick a little too tight. And the goals have come. And you know, I just. Think that again not to found too cliche, but everyone's played better. It's a team and the way this team is built with their depth, and obviously feeding off Bennington. Everyone is regressed back up to the mean, I think and. You're right, Alex. I heard you say on post like there is a time when the thought was already UFA maybe try to move him at the deadline and get something for him. But or even Bom Easter was getting killed at times this year petro getting killed at times this year, December Schwartz, but everyone in the team is just water finds its level. And now, I think it's it's spilling over that level. And they're they're easily. It's like every game they played better every single game. You said that this blues team has kind of followed the ark of Pat maroon season, and I agree with that. And not only that. But Pat Maroons game kind of encompasses this blues teams game and he's allowed to play that game. Yes. I mean, he's all below the goal line. Right. Gritty greasy. He is in front of the net. He's in the blue paint. He wears down. He wears down the opposition. And that's what this team plays. You talk about. What the opposition sees, and you can go on the visiting locker room on any given day and go what is it like playing against this blue squad? You'll hear two answers. The first one is we haven't played this blues squad. Because the that was stars. Sure. They ended the blues eleven game win streak with at fight to win in Dallas. But as Tyler Sagan said that was a tired blues team that was a blues team that found themselves in historic win streak. But it's fatiguing. It's not really you're not really leveling off your play. It said no we haven't played this blue team. The second response. You're going to get is this blues team is exhausting to play against they wear you down while in. I mean, you're seeing that an every sense of their game. And even the power play that people sit there and talk about well, you need to get better you need to make that be a reason that you make the opposition pay as much as you do need that. Yes. That's what I think is so special about this blues team that even though they don't score on the power play or. Even though calls go against them or missed calls happen. They find a way to overcome that adversity. And it goes back to what you were saying, Chris, this is a this is a team that I don't think I've ever once feared whole boy. This isn't good for them like every time. Yeah. Even when Winnipeg won two straight in Saint Louis, and you went back out on the road to to some people are saying, oh, well, they're done. Now. I mean all the pressures back on Saint Louis. I never once felt that in the same goes for this Dallas series. And I think you berbie a lot of credit to for pushing the right buttons. Whether it was game five making the move with Paran, Shan. Switching things up again. Tonight moving Peron back to the right side. Pulling out Joe Edmonson. Yes. Like who would have thought that that would be something a month ago or even a couple of weeks ago that that you'd be considering or twos? Oh was was affective tonight. And I know that. He ended up in the box penalty got even out. And maroon even said yesterday like there's gonna be a little more of that. And I thought that at some point the blues we're going to have to push back with restraint. And I thought guys that like they pushed back with restraint, right? There was a motion physicality. But there was there was still disciplined. So you're not putting yourself in a four on four situation without Latimer Tarasenko or you're not taking an extra guy off to give Dallas the five on three in that situation. Yeah. As you mentioned the pushing back with restraint this was a game that easily could have gotten out of hand. This was a game where you could let your motions get the better of you. And really put yourself behind the specially with all the poor officiating. Exactly because you're going to be frustrated by the Dallas Stars. They have several players who can get under your skin. You're going to be frustrated by the officiating by missed calls by the diving extravaganza Veselin del the blues had plenty of understandable reasons. To lose their cool. And yet they didn't they stay disciplined. They also didn't sit back on their heels and that can be a hard line to walk in the playoffs and being able to maintain your aggressive for check maintain your aggressive game where you're constantly pushing north and you're winning those one on one battles along the boards and fifty fifty bucks and yet not taking penalties or final three minutes. Guys game four a very intriguing situation muscle much like what we saw with the Winnipeg Jets because this series could be completely different. If it's two two rather than three one Chris naming I talked about this. But I think there's a lot of things to be paying attention to in game four not only a bigger game from their bigger players because they kind of went silent tonight other than Radulovich Sagan scoring goals. But you're going to see a Ben Bishop. That's a little more motivated than what he was tonight. Yeah. I mean, you'd think the blues have shown the ability to beat Bishop of twice, and I've seen that in Jordan Bennington, and you know, not to take anything for. Granted I don't know what's going to happen on the Wednesday night. The teams are so even I think even in Vegas, for instance, they're considered like a coin flip every game. But I'll tell you this regardless of what happens if you win and you come back to Saint Louis, pre one if you lose and you come back to to if you play this way, and I'm not saying you've got to cough up the league three times. But outside of maybe portions of game three at home against Winnipeg and portions of Saturday if you play the way you played all playoffs win or lose. I feel good about the series and more than anything. I feel good about the series because you have maybe the most dominant player in the NHL that's still alive right now. Jordan, Bennington, a guy who can singlehandedly swing a game sway a series. He swung series and game. Five in Winnipeg before the blues even came back, and regardless of what happens you still got that dude. Yeah. I feel good about the series selfishly. I want. It to be three in one. 'cause I can't handle can't handle anybody can candle but tell you what Mike Anderson feels good moving into feel pretty good. There you go. Well, they're back at it. Wednesday eight thirty puck drop on y ninety eight eight o'clock pre-game skate Chris Rabia bit. Chris Rabi will be back with you tomorrow night for more cardinals baseball, which by the way, they want as.

I like when the president delegates this I said, we're could shape, but if everybody's complain it's all about Roger stone. Our buddy Roger out there. You know? And then I'm saying we're in pretty good shape. And that's the the tenor. We're we're okay. We're okay. And now Kamala Harris Senator is running. She's she's running and you don't. And it's great. And I wish her all the best, but don't start and talk to you more intimately at this time this early in the morning is what gets me crazy is when they start saying, I worry about my child being pulled over by police officer stop right there. Just stop right there. Don't start with that. We had eight years of that under Barack Obama and Eric Holder stop right there. It's WI fi police officers were shot in my opinion last night in Houston. This is what exactly what don't start there. Miss harris. You had a good shot make the run godspeed down. You do not go there with the derogatory. Attacks on law enforcement. It weakens the whole society. Did you see you say that have meant to mention that yesterday? She's actually started our colored stop stop with the divide because they don't have anything else. And then you're gonna have she's gonna take away your healthcare. We I mean, I look health did needs to be healthcare reform. And this is by the way, I get so upset about the, you know, the diagnose we'll be publicans down there in Washington. President Trump got everybody in and they should have done a healthcare a total healthcare package. They did not they let that go. Now, you're going to see all the liberals coming out saying he's gonna pay for it. You're gonna pay for it. And you know, we're gonna get nothing put my hand under my chin like Disney, you get nothing. I get nothing like that. So there could have been a whole immigration reform package. So we'll see where we're going on all of that. So the day is us Roger stone is I just think it's so funny because when Frankie, but Roger into the fray here into the radio station. And I said you mean the. The Richard Nixon. I just don't like he goes. Yeah. Man. You gotta meet I told you about that yesterday. So Roger now is like he's like the everybody's talking about Roger stone. He was with Sean last night. And he said this is an Rogers don't said this is an attack on the president listened to Joey on the radio. This is your pal on the radio. I can't I don't have it in me to to kind of excuse, my expression, BS, you I don't I don't I just gotta deal with a straight Roger stone. No matter what happens is going to be pardoned by Donald J Trump bomb. I wish that the department of Justice. No, another department Justice the Muller people. I wish the Muller people the Muller. Mike demand mother might. Ooh, the many mother means that are going after everybody you got put this in your head. Rogers is going to be pardoned if indeed he's indicted arraignment arraignment today about eleven o'clock in the morning. We check that out. But honestly, don't waste your time. Don't waste my money. Don't waste my money. It's absolutely an excuse. So we'll get into it. All today. Speaking of which Michael Caputo is on the show longtime Republican political consultant, former Donald Trump campaign, Roger stone protege and he has spoken with Mola's team. Michael kind enough to join us. You saw Michael FOX yesterday. And he's gonna join us in about in about twenty minutes. You want to hear what has got to say that the government can come after you like this. Absolutely. I am so enthralled all and if it happens God forbid happens, but the power of the government without any evidence to come. After us scary. It's scary. It happened. Listen is happening to Roger stone. Michael caputo? What's happening? What they did. The Michael Cohen Cohen folded like that man could happen. Any of us, be careful congressman Peter King. He's doing a great job in Washington. Just trying to keep the peace in Washington and work with both sides. He represents New York's second congressional district on Long Island. We're gonna see what's going on in Afghanistan. Because now there's going to be some kind of peace proposal in Afghanistan. I'll tell you something. Can we talk about that just for second before we go into the rest of the the the star studded cast that we have for you today. They'll never and God. Forgive me, if I'm wrong, you can't go. She ate with Afghanistan with sues. We get out the terrorists take takeover in my opinion. Am I wrong? Call me and tell me I'm wrong, please, call me and tell me I'm wrong. Eight seven seven nine seven twenty nine ninety nine on. We're gonna try. We're gonna go. She ate. We're gonna pull out of Afghanistan. We've been there all these years. And now once you get out, and you know, I don't know that we should we should Afghanistan shirt out of their terrorist. Compl- take over the whole thing. I'm telling you. That's what that's what they do. They go in these these religious fanatics go in to take over. And then they they'll never be peace because they don't know peace or they notified they'll fight amongst themselves. But when we pull out me problem, that's what I worry about Syria. You know, you pull it when you pull everybody out of Syria happen doesn't leave a big vacuum near four Russia for Iran. You know, certainly for Syria and Assad it's dangerous to think about that. So we'll get into it. Congress McCain knows all about that. And he's kind enough to join us in seven o'clock hour, Arthur. Dalla I always say God forbid, I go down with a massive coronary or or something God forbid army driving. I'd like Mr. driving something happens when I drive, and I cannot do the show any longer what happened to Joe Kelley went off the road at seventy eight we never heard God forbid God forbid, but I don't have a driver. I barely have a hotel just holding on by a thread, if something happens Arthur's demand that's step in. I've anointed Arthur the balance that he's gonna come. Anyway, I joke I just I kid Arthur's on an eight o'clock hour, we'll be talking about everything with El Chapo and Harvey Weinstein and everything else. And also what's going on between Arthur's take on the Catholic church? What's going on with cardinal Dolan? And and governor Cuomo abortion situation cardinal Dolan. It's been great. He's been great on the air. I don't know. And I say this with respect to my friend. Andrew Cuomo my acquaintance, Andrew Cuomo in with high regard for his mom. I don't know what kind of Catholic that guy is a really don't. I just don't you can stand fast. You could say, look, it's my religion. This is what I believe. But whatever you want to vote you vote, but I cannot put this in regards to abortion. And again, I'm just putting this out there. I don't understand the governor Cuomo and feel for cardinal Dolan. But you can call me eight seven seven nine seven twenty nine ninety nine Commissioner Bernie Kerik in the studio live. What's what is with all the attacks on police officers? It's everywhere. It's in Houston last night five cop shot, Mike what's going on? And I think it is. And I may be wrong Commissioner Kirk knows Beth when you go out and you say when you can run for president, I worry about my son or one needs of of color that the police are going to pull them up. You know? And I tell you Mr. Harris if I may. You know, if if your son doesn't do anything wrong is not going to be a problem, it you son is to pull over any polls over trust me. I promise you is not going to be a problem. I'm promise you just as an and will listen to what Commissioner Kirk has to say, Mike Gallagher with us and John Roka's. Great John is a veteran of the F D, N Y, man, great, firefighter, firefighter, and he has left or saves lives. And they're going to do a whole new I show for the first responders and do these comedy shows, and I'll be with law enforcement against drugs tomorrow at the Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey at me. Oh, you Joey benefit baby. You know, what I'm saying, you gotta charity. I got a tuxedo. So I'll be there tomorrow night. So we'll let you know what's going on. It's quarter after six o'clock six fifty Frankie fibrosis may right? Morning. Frank cowboy I'm doing great. The only guy know that looks good and ten the only guy on ten. Roger stone might be the only ones your mentor, Roger stone, Roger has a very very different fashion. Roger in an orange jumpsuit not. So you know, what? Roger it looks great. Orange top hat to go with his orange. Oh, you're in prison. Shades. But he'll be there. What what again hour before Donald Trump pardons? And I don't think he'll be convicted. They have no case, I think it's very thin in Ortho break it down for us in the sorry. How you doing buddy? Good. Wow. Look great. And it really pull off the tail. Behind the board dressed like a slob. That's right. I have enthused everybody. That's right. He means my oh, no. I know versa. Medical pause there. Good. Shame me sixteen right? Yeah. Did you get the shirt? Tommy bahama. Oh, good. I'm going to sit down. You're that's hosting of getting pardoned Chris Christie yesterday. Yeah. A million interviews, and we really should get them on the show, but CNN apparently did an interview with him. And he he made this statement. And I think it bears fruit here he thinks that there's no Russian collusion between Trump and the Russians because because he thinks most of the people in his inner circle too dumb in raising. Did he I he said disorganized, right? Position period, and that end before and showed really no sign of any leak. Can we be full full openness? Yeah. Absolutely yearning insulted. My outfits. We're I have a seventy after six so apparently a governor Christie's people call to come on the show. They said he's available if we want if we want. Did he call three freshman member? And I'm New Jersey, I'm just busting jobs jersey style. Here did anybody from drum flack it called before? Governor Murphy was let me call them when we called to my recollection. Remember, Frankie dean, executive producer of the program you call. Chris Chris Chris Amy called that say, hey, I'd like you going Joe show. I don't remember you from Albany. We need from Trenton. Did we remember now who called sorry? We got a phone call saying if somebody wants to promote a book or something. Yeah. What do you think boys? You know? You don't want to say that. But. Say that. No was welcome anytime. Sure. He's welcome anytime anytime. Absolutely. But I don't I'm not gonna go looking in calling. Saying, you know, because you know, I, plus I don't know that after the fact you should I'm so sad. And see this is the problem is when I'm going to say they're going to say, oh, Joe, you're so pro Trump, and I just play please stop with that. Because I'm so sick of the criticism of everybody. I'm thinking of criticism of every. It's like, and it comes right to the left left to the right. And I'm so sick of the now we after the fact, oh that Trump campaign was too disorganized. Russia. Don't stop criticizing, please. Can we just go on wooden forward? Can we just have some peace?.

"And if you haven't followed it yet, that's a good idea to it makes Chris really happy not that it's his birthday or anything. But it does make him happy. He's delighted when he sees extra follows of our Twitter show account and more importantly, that's where all of our polls originate, and then he will very often re tweet some of your witty and clever and funny comments, and he re tweets videos. And also different pictures and photos and gifts he's the king of gifts. So check out our show account because right now. You can still vote for TD of the week that poll is not yet closed. And even though the poll is under protest by me. I feel as though there was a very prominent. A very prominent absence in RTD of the week pole. The pole is still alive. And then in addition to that it's hump show, which means asking me anything we didn't do it last week because I wasn't here. And so you get the opportunity to fire up the old questions again. So you can do that again by finding our show Twitter after our CBS don't send the questions to me. Because if I don't like them, I will bury you and your questions alive. I have no idea where that came from going to be one of those kinds of shows. It is a hump show after all so on Twitter or on Facebook after hours with Amy Lawrence than our phone number is eight five five two one two four two two seven that's eight five five two one two four two two seven. So a couple of big football stories from the NFL on Tuesday. But we're going to start with college football. Why? Well, because the penultimate I've seen that word more than and this is the day. You will see the word penultimate more than any other day on the calendar in the sports world because. Penultimate is the second to last anything. And so for instance, if you're a big TV watcher, which I am very often. The penultimate addition of your favorite TV show will set you up with a bunch of drama before you go into the finale either the season finale or the series finale, right? They got to build it up. That's what the second to. Last addition is all about and that applies to these college football playoff rankings the second to last edition from the committee has set us up for championship weekends. I'm not sure which of the championships. You're most looking forward to that. They're obviously five power conferences. So it's difficult to do a poll. I don't even know if we can figure it out, but not every single one of the championship games. Even the power five will affect the playoff rankings and the final four. So maybe we can maybe we could do as the big ten big twelve. But then we're going to get accused of having an east coast bias by not having the Pac twelve in there. So maybe we should not. I'm very protective of my west coast bias, anyway, we're going into championship weekends. And we now know what the committee is thinking, and we now know the possibilities. I would call them intriguing possibilities as we head into the final weekend of college football before the bowl season that stretches on interminably, it goes on forever for those of you who do not know my philosophy on bowl games here. It is. I don't watch them and less. They actually matter. I know that sounds harsh doesn't it? But I get so bored with the fact that there are four hundred thirty nine bowl games. And there are teams that are playing that. Yeah. That I haven't even talked about once during the college football season. I just I'm not a big fan of exhibitions. I very rarely watch any type of spring training baseball game. I do not watch preseason hoops in hockey. You'll get me for maybe maybe two or three theories potentially a first half of an NFL preseason game. But I I too much on my plate to spend time watching games that don't count. So I like my holiday shopping and my holiday decorating, and I don't typically spend it watching ball games. However, I know a lot of you like them so feel free to watch as many of the four hundred ninety two bowl games as you would like the ones that matter will take place on December twenty nine. That oddly enough is this year's national semi final day. It's a Saturday the Saturday before the new year, I'm actually traveling and a basketball game that day. So I will be watching the national semifinals on tape delay. Which is fine. Because when I'm doing basketball and traveling I'm I don't have access to my phone. I just will not be able to participate in the ongoing social media conversation about the national semifinals, but there on a Saturday, December twenty ninth and what we know from the committee is now the set of possibilities going into this championship weekend. Even as we project forward to a month from now a little over a month from now. So here's what we know the top three did not change. I'm sure you aren't surprised by that in any way, shape or form. It's still Alabama number one. It's still Clemson number two deserved old stalwarts in the college football playoff in the long and esteemed history of the college football playoff. Then Notre Dame number three. And because Notre Dame is still technically an independent likely. That's where Notre Dame will stay. But Alabama Clemson both have to play this weekend in their conference championships and lo and behold, it's Georgia back into the top four who will play the crimson tide in the SEC this weekend. It's kind of interesting to compare this to a year ago, right where Georgia was involved in that title that titled tilt, but there was no Alabama Zahle Obama had lost to Auburn. And so it was the tide who had to sit and watch how everything played out. And then we had the crazy debate about Alabama versus Ohio State and should a non conference winner from a power five conference get into the college football playoff. But that is let's be honest the power of Alabama. And of course, at number four Bama ended up winning a fantastic championship against Georgia. Oh, what a tangled web. So that's the top four Alabama. Clemson Notre Dame and Georgia what we found out from the committee. And rob Mullins is the college football playoff committee chaired new this year. What we found out is that it's Oklahoma number five Ohio State number six, and that is where the drama lies. We're looking at their quality wins. We're looking at their losses were, you know, looking at the data, and you know, they're very similar, right? You know, high powered offenses Howdy ranked offenses and they've had some struggles on defense and at times been inconsistent. But at the end of the day, the committee felt that at this point Oklahoma was five in Ohio State six again, that's rob Mullins the committee chair on the college football playoff committee Facebook page, which we did not know existed until about a month ago. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. So if all of the favorites win this week. Meaning Alabama is the SEC champ. Clemson is the champ. Oklahoma ends up winning the big twelve title and Ohio State beats northwestern in the big ten championship will then you would have Georgia knocked out as a two loss team, and you would have Oklahoma moving up from five to four into that college football playoff. That's according to Jerry palm CBS sports college football insider, he predicts every single bowl matchup every single week of the college football season. It's pretty impressive. But most importantly, Jerry is a math nerd, and I say that with all the love in the world. Jerry's a good friend of mine. He is fantastic. At figuring out what the committee is going to do and this applies for March madness. And the selection committee for college hoops, well, he knows the formulas. He knows what they emphasize he under. Stands how to read strength of schedules and all the various ways that the committee looks at the resumes of these teams. And right now, what the committee is telling us is that they're similar teams. Oklahoma has not as many quality wins. However, it could add another one this weekend against Texas in the big twelve championship. But most importantly, and what turns out to be the deciding factor is that even though Ohio State had a shellacking of rival Michigan. It's not enough to overcome the loss at Purdue. So right now, you're comparing quality losses. That's what it comes down to you. It's not just about who you beaten. It's also about who you've lost two and pretty much everything else being equal though. Oklahoma's got a couple more. Sorry. Ohio State is a couple more impressive victories. They also teetered on the edge of disaster and a game like say the Maryland game. And ultimately, the one loss was an embarrassment at Purdue number the Tyler Trent game by twenty nine points. Whereas Oklahoma lost with rival Texas by just three. And so that's what the committee is telling you the committee's saying. That pretty much everything else being equal. The Ohio State does have a slight edge when it comes to quality wins. That loss at Purdue by twenty nine points is what keeps it a smidge behind Oklahoma in the latest college football playoff rankings. Oh, how funny right now, I'm looking at CBS sports HQ. It's one one of my screen here in studio and Jerry palm staring at me. We could we grab some of this. I love Jerry palm again, he he's a playoff experts. That's what they're calling him on CBS sports HQ fantastic. I'd love to get your reaction and coming up in twenty five minutes. We're going to pick the brain of college football insider Cristiani who's been on the show before and we're gonna kinda pull apart. You know, you pull apart the pieces of string cheese. That's what we're gonna do with Crispin any. I really like some cheese. I love cheese, we're going to pull apart the various strands of championship weekends, and how it might play out and what are the most likely scenarios, but also the obscure scenarios alike. UCF when it's championship and then sneak into the college football playoff. Let's say Georgia loses to Alabama Oklahoma loses detect this Ohio State loses. Another game this time to north northwestern. And then you're talking about Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma all having two losses Michigan's not gonna sneak back in there. So could UCF sore from number eight to number four as an undefeated. So that's a big question. Really interesting. Maybe not as likely that everybody loses ahead of him ahead of them the nights. But it certainly exists as as a distant possibility who bring on the chaos bring on the chaos. So I'd love to hear your reaction to the latest college football playoff rankings, by the way, the final playoff rankings will come out Sunday revealed before the NFL kicks off on Sunday at noon eastern, nine o'clock Pacific time, because of course, college football does not want to wrestle and wrangle with the NFL. You don't you don't really infringe upon the NFL's territory because you get beat badly. If you do, and so that's the college football playoff rankings, and again, Chris Amy will join us from Dallas coming up in twenty five minutes. Now, we've also got some NFL news. This Reuben foster situation with the Washington Redskins was big topic of conversation on Tuesday. And I would like to get your reaction to that as well. I actually did an interview with the podcast host in DC right after we found out that the Redskins put in the claim on Reuben foster, and he had some interesting things to say asked me for my opinion. And so we'll get into that straight ahead. You can find me on Twitter AOL radio or on our Facebook page. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. Sports radio ninety.

"I've been encouraged to turn the microphone inwards and into one of the best technologists, I know who's been working for the past decade twos. Technology to help understand the workings of the mind, the brain and the body. He's my co-founder at muse, Chris, Amy and welcome Chris. Awesome. Can't wait to do. This. Chris prolific electrical engineer who trained Dr Steve man, Steve is widely known as the father of wearable computing together. Chris and Steve critic glasses with cameras and screens and wore them in the early nineties before Google glass was ever thought they've invented water-based musical instruments. He's when prizes for energy producing yoyos and Chris went onto found interacts on. And build what's probably the most consumer -cially successful brain computer, interface device out there. His also a deep thinker changing how we think about the brain and body during meditation and he's a new invention. He's gonna share today at the end of the episode. It's an honor to have him as a friend and partner in crime and to be able to spend time inside his head. You've created all sorts of amazing things in your lifetime. Some which I've had the luck to be a part of let's go back into your history. Can you start by describing some of your early inventions? It wasn't really until mid to late high school that has started making things. Made this video camera system where there was like. Skateboard wheels and built a track. So it could do these smooth panning video shots to analyze people's walking the gate analysis that was required for different kinds of therapy and research, and so I had someone asked me to do that this similar time. I made a system for doing strength testing based upon some old technology that was sort of got re revitalized with some new ideas and new tech. I remember building skateboard what ramps that was amazing. I can ride it. You know? So I remember some of your cool probably in your early robotics. We met in our early twenties. But in your early twenties, I remember you made a robot that could paint crawl up the wall and paint this way up and down. I think one reason why created that is I had had so many bizarre bits of machinery electronics old computers in my garage, my parent's garage at the time. And bro in Scarborough. And I had a friend who had decided to open up a temporary art gallery, and she's like could you make something cool and technological? But you know, can you make a piece of art that would come in here? And just like sure what what can I do that I can make use of all this junk and also had a whimsical nature to it. So it was I think it was the first totally useless thing ever made. Maybe it maybe it broke the ice in a lot of you know, crazy new stuff. It was like, it was totally useless. It used the printer from Commodore sixty four I think I took my rollerblades apart. And I bought windshield. Wiper Motors, a used computer mice as optical encoders. Bizarre stuff. But then I made this gangly kind of robotic arm that would hold a paintbrush and satisfying throw up against the wall. It would reach backwards and dip rush until bucket of paint. And then it would like stick it on this giant canvas. And then it start to move it around. My father was happy that it took his all propane tank away. I think it use it as a counterweight told us the right amount of water should mention this thing was like eight or nine feet high because it would go all the way up the wall. It was probably it was like it was eight feet high and probably twelve it was really big and it us four computers. So I think yeah us every. Last bit of junk, but I had kicking around, but it painted some really amazing stuff and had a camera that would continuously observe whatever was happening in the in the gallery in whoever came in just essentially paint. What it saw it painted, really slowly? So it was really hard to make sense of anything that painted. But yeah, the robot painters silly. See that to work with Steve man and really create some of the early Google glass type form factors time. Steve is calling it. I tap. Can you talk a little bit about that experience? Yeah..

"Three to homestand wraps up. Alexandra me up from the dressing room. What stood out down there guys who spoke and was kind of the feeling after just a couple of real stretches of of inconsistency? That allowed Minnesota to grab control this game. It was a somber and frustrated locker rooms those labor they've had a few. They've had their fair share of those and rhino Riley, kicked things off with a very honest, take he's incredibly frustrated. I mean, we saw dot take. It was. Yeah. I think it's still always honest. He was very honest. I mean, you saw him before the game saying, I don't like Minnesota. He wanted to beat them. And this was a game that he knew I mean as we all did that it was a winnable game. And they found a way to lose it. And he was he was honest about that. Yeah. I mean, look you want to hear that from one of your leaders. And there's no doubt the rhino Riley who extended his point streak to ten games is one of the best players out there on the ice. And it's great to hear him say that afterwards that he was ticked off. And that they should have taken those two points tonight. And I don't think anybody would argue with that for the way that the blues played in the first two periods. But that third period, I'm sure you would curves broke it down, very sloppy. When it comes to what the blues accomplished in the last couple of games. And and then you know, after that, Alex between Gelo talked and kind of positivity talking about how the something to build off of this homestand. But you did go four and three and look at the end of the day. You cannot go foreign three on a seven game homestand. If you wanna make your way into the playoffs because look nobody else in the central division is losing Colorado is winning Winnipeg Nashville, Minnesota the only team that's lower than you. Now are the Chicago Blackhawks, and we all know what catastrophe just took place in Chicago. So. You can't lose division games. You can't lose games at this point of the season. And right now, the blues are in whole that they just continue to dig deeper. They may may not be able to get out of four and three. But he was essentially if you look at those losses, you get you know, kind of run off the ice by Columbus. You get dominated for most of the game against Minnesota back on Saturday, November third and then tonight a large portion of this game early in the second period and then in the third period just self-inflicted wounds. And I think obviously, not all losses are created equal. That's a lot more concerning. Obviously, I'm not splitting the atom here. But you know, then if you had played a great game and even game and you lose in overtime or you're losing a shootout or you get some bad puck luck. Yeah. And you know, it's interesting because the the blues came out in that first period with an aggressive four check. It wasn't seamless. It wasn't perfect. But they had that aggressive supported four check like they had against this. Jose sharks? When they just absolutely confused. The San Jose defense because they will relentless with their puck pressure with their puck support. They weren't just getting the F one down deep. They got the F one and the F two and it was consistent. You saw that in this first period. And even though it wasn't perfect. You end up going into the second up one nothing honest Sundquist goal, and you felt like the momentum was moving in the right direction that you have that momentum. Then Minnesota comes back comes back resets for the second. They take control of the second. And again, you have a good response from this blues team, although their offense never looked quite a solid not as strong as it looked in the first period, and then it was just kind of downhill from there. So how do you sustain the push Alex? And still this team yet to win a one goal game this year. How do you sustain the push and the intensity and not have some of the lapses that we've seen really caused some concern. You know, it's funny. Mike yo was asked that same question. You know, the defense you keep questioning. Like, well, why isn't a playing up to the level that they want it to be we've seen shades of it? Mike, ios responses. Look, it's work ethic. It's it's pushing the guys just need to keep pushing. They watched the tape. They go out there and put it onto the ice and in reading between the lines with that one Chris's, look, they're just not putting to work on a consistent basis. What they're going through in practice. I mean, Amy we talked about it Friday night after that sharks game about how that was an area that Mike yo talked about on Thursday at practice how they need to play better away from the puck. They need to four check. They need to not get caught in gaps. And tonight, they did all of those things and look everyone's going to be blaming Colton Perico for that turnover. That led to the Minnesota's third goal. But Mike, you made a great point. There were three other opportunities before parade turned the puck over to exit the zone. There's no more of this finesse play when you're in your own zone of trying to get the puck out making the smart play turnaround and whack the puck out of the zone, regardless. And if it gets blocked his Mike Yohe told us, well, then you're probably going to hurt somebody at least make it hurt. And I think going back to. What you said about the practice a couple of days ago before the San Jose game. Michael was very direct saying they don't need to be just in position. And you'd be tighter position and get the puck. They need to work harder without the puck. And you saw them apply that against San Jose somehow that fell apart in this game. I had a really interesting conversation with rhino Riley yesterday after practice, of course, we've talked about how he is the hardest worker on this team. He'll stay a half an hour after practice working on his shot or working on awkward pucks. And they said okay going into practice. Then do you know what you're going to work on after practice? He said, yeah, I do because I go back over the game the last game. And I look at areas where I didn't play. Well, and he said against San Jose could have scored on the powerplay his, but I had the puck up against my skates. And I couldn't pull it out fast enough. He said, so what he worked on was like homework awkward pucks in his skates. And he was just taking shots with the puck down at his feet to that. He was able to to cap. Because once you do that. Once you start taking bad pucks. He'll take bad passes you'll have guys give them bad passes. So that he can take a one time or adjust because if you do it in practice, you can do it in the game. And I guarantee you he's going to go back look at tape from this game, or at least remember what he did. And then work on it the next look, that's the emotions you want to. And I mean, you know, Chris, Amy, and I have been in there you've been in there after losses in it seems like a somber locker room, but today other than Vladimir Tarasenko after that Minnesota lost. We all know how ticked off e truly was. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ryan Riley you pissed off because at the end of the day in a one goal game where you were tied with them going into the third period. You wanna play that type of hockey? That's how you win games in. Unfortunately, the blues just got outworked by Minnesota, and Amy you mentioned something to Minnesota justed to the blues, and I don't think the blues adjusted a Minnesota's adjustment. And I think that's where they got caught off guard. The blues have not been able to adjust to the opposition's adjustments to them. And I think that's something that's truly hurting them. Yeah. I think and in terms of the game within the game and the match ups and some of the juggling. We saw curves. Now, we're talking about you know, what this lineup will look like in you know, who's going to come out. I think that Nikita social macabre with the limited minutes that he's played especially, you know, playing a minute and a half minute forty in the third period. Today. He comes out breaking Chen goes back in and you gotta get Pat. Maroon back in Jake Allen. And then this stretch, Alex, you said that you're an intermission like when you have these type of central opponents lined up in a row, and you have a high volume of games against teams in your division this early in the season, you've got gotta win. Because at some point. You're not gonna have the matchups mathematically to catch back up to them. If you dig yourself deep a hole. Yeah. Look, I mean, you could talk about the games in hand that you have right now. But let's look at the next couple of weeks for this blues team you go on the road to play Chicago. Then you play Vegas in San Jose on the road. You come home to play the kings. Those are all. Teams that are still in the west but not in the central but in after that LA kings game the week of thanksgiving. You play Nashville Nashville Winnipeg. So in that stretch of two weeks, you have four central division games right there. That's a sixteen point swing. If you could win all four of those games put you right back in it. But on the flip side of that. If you lose those that's a sixteen point hole that you've just Doug yourself even deeper in back to the point of Pat, maroon look the power play on successful again tonight. And it's no doubt that that is suffering without Pat maroon and look Pat, maroon doesn't have a goal and Pat maroon may not be the Pat maroon that people expected of how he played in Edmonton in New Jersey, but you need that big body out. They're not only on the power play. But you need them out there to be a threat in open up space, and they're missing out on Pat. Maroon. Yeah, you know, I was talking to Justin Williams before the Carolina Hurricanes game. And obviously he played. He's he's a veteran. He played with the Washington Capitals. He said, well one thing you have with the Washington Capitals is you've got those fifty goalscorers, and that's. Quite a luxury. But he said in this league. The goaltending is so good that unless you've got a very special shot or you're creating traffic. The goal is going to stop it. To that point. Pat. Maroon serves that purpose very well. Thanks, guys. This was fun. And we will again watch. Now is the team had said on the road back against the kings next week after the three away from Saint Louis and a quick trip to Nashville the night before thanksgiving and back here on Friday and Saturday, Chris thank you, buddy. It's Alex and Amy will take a quick break and be back. We were hanging out until the top of the hour. It's extended post game after the blues fall three two to the wild back after this on kmox..
