"chipmunks jesse" Discussed on 5 Questions with Dan Schawbel

"Dan shaw bell in fewer than ten minutes. My goal is to extract the best bryson. The world's smartest and most interesting people might ask them just five questions. My guest today is singer. Songwriter and actor. Jesse mccartney jesse's first three albums made the top fifteen of the billboard top two hundred and his most known for his singles beautiful soul and leaving he's performed and collaborated with t pain new kids on the block and backstreet boys. He's appeared in fear. The walking dead and alvin and the chipmunks jesse's first album and seven years is called next stage. We talk about everything from the inspiration for the album to growing up as a popstar during this podcast episode jesse. Welcome to five questions thanks. Dan appreciate him in. What were some of the negative implications of being a big pop star at such a young age. The biggest thing is grappling with missing dances. Which you know obviously years later you'll look back and you're like how insignificant but at the time it's very real you know for you as as a child you know missing things like graduations. Although i made mine. I barely made it and i didn't get to go to my senior year of high school. I didn't get to be with my class that i rule up with since kindergarten in new york. I was in los angeles working. So i think just missing the little things especially when you grow up with them and then you're thrown into this world. It's easy now to look back. But i remember then thinking this is terrible. I'm not going to go to my junior prom or my senior prom. So i think those moments kind of sting when you're sixteen but i certainly wouldn't trade it. I think it was a fair tradeoff overall. Yeah i mean. We're only looking back in hindsight now and a lot of childhood stars have to make those sacrifices in order to capitalize on their momentum and talents when they're young. Because now you know people. The who you are if you released music. It's more likely to get low rather than someone who has not put in the years when they're when they're a kid and you started at such a young age you know at seven years old so That definitely gives you an advantage. What obstacles did you encounter as you transitioned from being in a boy band to your own solo career. And how did you overcome them. The biggest thing was a hurdling. The fact that i was doing it now by myself on stage carrying the show but also it was after a time where things were a little contentious between myself or the band and the producers kind of when i learned what the industry is gonna be what it was about that. It wasn't just getting up on stage singing that there was business behind it..

"Join us a reminder coming up in our number two James Lawson from drivetime sports is LeBron James. Games for the Lakers. We'll get that from Jamison and some new rumors on a possible new UNLV head coach. I don't know if I agree with it. The Jameson got some information to join us in our number two a reminder tomorrow. Keeping on that basketball. You know, we got so many great college basketball tournaments come into people don't even realize the west coast conference tournament starts tomorrow at the Orleans arena. We got the whack we got the mountain west conference next week. We got the Pac twelve at the at the excuse me at the T mobile arena. So there's a lot of basketball to talk about as well, and my friend Marcus Fizer, you might remember that name at Iowa State national player of the year over at Iowa State had a great NBA career. He's going to be joining us in studio. He lives here in Vegas. He'll be joining us tomorrow to talk a little hoops Friday is going to be a jam packed day. As I mentioned, Danny Tarquini is going to be in studio on Friday and the legend himself. Dana Carvey, that's right. Wayne's world. Some of my favorite movies of all time would be waiting for Dane is going to be joining us as well. He's actually performing in Vegas Friday night. So the rest of the week jam packed for you. We're gonna have a lot of fun. I wanted to talk a little bit about Brit Hume. That's right. Brit Hume, Mr. as I like to call Mr. no personality over there at Fox News. So it's amazing. How much coverage Cossio Cortez gets? And remember, she's a freshman. Okay. She hasn't really accomplished anything yet. I think she's a smart lady things she's very attractive, and she she speaks out. And time will tell if she does a good job. I did that. I don't know. Well, clearly, smart and attractive are. I don't think you can be stupid and get to where she has gotten. If that makes sense synonymous, but. Anyway, it seems like Fox News. They're like obsessed with her. They're always talking about her. And I'm like, why are you? She doesn't speak for the Democratic Party. What are you talking about it anyway? So Brit Hume, but I've never been a huge fan of. I mean, I'd rather watch paint dry, then listen to this guy talk. But he was speaking to Tucker Carlson who I think is another complete buffoon way to the right buffoon senior political analyst, and he's this is what he said about a Kostia Corey said, whatever this stuff is it makes a lot of news. And that's why Alexandro Cossio Cortez for all her talents and arguable shallowness is able to become so prominent she makes news he then added. She's kind of compelling. She's kinda adorable sort of in the way that a five year old child can be adorable. Tucker Carlson says yes. And then he goes on to say at the moment. I think it's fair to say she is the defacto leader of the Democrats in the house representatives. No, she's not what does Britt Hume talking. But no, she's not she's. As a freshman. She just got there. She absolutely is not the leader of the Democrats in the house. He is wrong. And calling her adorable any grown, man. Daddy age calling. Her adorable is disgusting. First of all don't use that word adorable. Her look should have absolutely no bearing on this discussion. If you're talking about her policies, and if you're talking about politics, so here's my problem with somebody like Brit Hume. You're going to say that Cossio Cortez. Is a five year old. He's basically calling you're like a five year old, but I could name somebody else right now at sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue, east patronizing, it's making it's making it seem like she has. No what she's talking. Okay, that's fine. But here's my question. If you're gonna call Calcio Cortes, a five year old what about the man was in the White House right now? He acts like a child all the time. But I don't hear the stiff Britt Hume. Did you just call Donald Trump adorable, Brian? I certainly didn't say that he think he's disgusting to look at and I would agree with me. But here nor there. What I'm trying to say is that you have to be consistent and Brit Hume is a hack you're gonna call Cossio Cortez. A five year old. I've never heard him criticize the president in any way, shape or form anywhere close to that. Same thing with a guy like a Jesse waters who I think is another talentless guy who sounds like a chipmunk. Jesse waters? I've never heard him criticize Donald Trump. I've never heard him criticize anybody on the right? Now, look there are people on CNN that do the exact same thing. It is very rare that somebody like a Don lemon will intensely criticized somebody in certainly not MSNBC a lot of people on MSNBC. But aren't we tired of this? Why is Britt Hume who is a stiff if anyone who he has no personality Bri? I'll tell you why. Brit. Brit Hume and everybody at Fox News. They've Yukos's Cortez as a threat because she's young she's attractive and she appeals to social media. And you have all these very very young people who are on social media following this person. It's a lot of them are are left wing. They're African African-American. They're Latino American and she. She she relates to those people at Fox News knows that. And that's why they're made they look at her as a threat not now, but in the future. Well, if you do look at her as a threat, you probably shouldn't call her a five year old, you probably shouldn't comment on her appearance. That's just pure stupidity. And a guy like Britt Hume as a partisan hack. That's what he does same thing with Tucker Carlson. This is what they do. And it's interesting because you won't hear the story on Fox News. Apparently Donald Trump wanted to hide his high school transcripts. He went to this New York military academy. Apparently, the then headmaster was pushed to make sure that no one would be able to access Trump's records from his time as a student. This is according to the documentary about or if you watch documentary about that his dad used to bring women to him. And he got his reputation as this lady's man because his dad kept bringing women to him hats. Hits. At this academy. It's just kind of crazy. I don't have a problem with this at all. Who cares? Dear dear really care about your problem with his father talking about his grades Brian. Here's why have a problem with it. The answer's yes. Because for five years, we heard Donald Trump tacos, it's Donald Trump. No, I was going to give you my reason for five years, Donald Trump. Claim that Barack Obama needed to show his birth certificate. And it was it was a false claim that he wasn't born in this country where he showed his birthday he was Donald Trump has a history of not of lashing out at other people for not being honest and transparent where he won't show his tax returns. He never will. And unless they subpoenas to, you know, unless he has to show them he won't and yet this is the man who had his own people. Make sure that his high school transition were never released. Yes. I do have a problem with that based on what he's done. Yes. Sounds like a division one athlete at any major school. Well, we're not talking about a division. One athlete though. We're talking about the president of the United States who wants everyone else to be transparent. But when it comes to his own business, dealings, personal dealings grades. He's not transparent I have problem. a problem. If he if somehow he delivered an IQ tests that showed his IQ is actually one fifty plus which it claims is would you still the problem with it saying that again, if somehow Donald Trump delivered an IQ test because he says he has accused about one hundred fifty one hundred sixty if he was here, which I'm sure it's not to deliver an IQ tests that proved that would still problem with. Yes, I I still wanna know why his high school. It's not about what his grades were as much as so it's a principle. It's not about what his grades were as much as why he he he went through great lengths to hide them the superintendent of the school Jeffrey Coverdale confirmed earlier this week that members of the school's board of trustees initially wanted him to hand over President Trump's records to them. But Coverdale said he refused. He said he was given directives part of which I could follow. But part of which I could not and that was handing them over to the trustees. I moved them elsewhere on campus where they could not be released. It's the only time I ever moved and alumnis record. Let's take some phone calls on this at two five seven five three nine six seven zero two two five seven five three nights six. Do. You have a problem with this. And as well as what Brit Hume said and talking about Alexandro Casio. Cortes calling her a five year old and commenting on her physical appearance again that number two five seven five three nine six. Let's start with Justin, Justin. Go ahead. Justin. Thanks for taking my call. Sure. Yes. Sir. See, but didn't she just say that? She's the boss. Because nobody else was bringing you know. Stuff to to live that she's the ball. Well, I think I think I understand where she where she was going with that the reason why she made that comment because she wants to people to be on her side way on her side. Or actually, I think she's very very smart with the way that she operates. She actually a few days ago. She said that men fear me because I have just as much power. She's just making over the top crazy statements to gravitational herself. And then she comes through with with our actual intelligence, and it's working. I think she's I mean, she said some really liked the green deal. The new green deal is completely insane. They will cost American citizens six hundred thousand dollars. It'd be a multi a ninety three trillion dollar operation. I couldn't really consider a smart. She makes she makes his very over the top statements. And then she comes through with other ask you a question, Justin. And I don't know what a Cortes IQ is. But would you consider Donald Trump smart? Absolutely. So you think Donald Trump is extremely intelligent. But you don't think Cortez has a brain is is that what you're saying not necessarily. I don't consider her consider a really bright. I'm sorry. Well, let me ask you this. Why do you why do you consider Donald Trump? Right. What does he done that? You would say, wow. He's a genius. Has a lot of achievements allies. I mean, he did go to his parents were a lot of money. Yes. They did a good school. Isn't really necessarily, you know, unintelligent and his lineages strong to know, intelligence wise, I wanna get into Justin's brain right here. And I want to figure out why you think Donald Trump is. So smart now, you're right. He he grew up with a lot of money. Okay. He ran the apprentice, I wouldn't call him bright for doing that. I think he's allowed mouth and he gets attention. And he's very good at that..
