A hot coaches draft here if we include european soccer coaches. We're gonna be here for a week. I didn't even know how we got on that by the way yesterday. I was railing on the texans. And maybe the media. I don't know anything more about to shawn watson going back to february about his playing status. We found out some things off the field. There's more reports about that. But he's probably not going to be deposed until next february and thought okay. is he a healthy scratch. A why is he. Not playing in for the for the texans this year yes yesterday. And why aren't the reporters. I don't want to call it all of the houston texans media. Police say this number of to. Why can't they ask more direct questions and get something out of them on record like whoa what. We're all wondering this. Why can't they be asked the head coach general manager. Why is he not playing yet. Just pin down just to say okay. He's healthy right. He's not a distraction right. You said that so who is benching. Deshaun watson is benching himself are you paying him for a guy who doesn't want to play for the organization. Abused is the league involved in this. Nick caserio is the for the texans. He had this to say on sports radio six ten this morning. Nick shawn watson on the fifty three man roster. What's the plan for him this sunday. Yeah wouldn't expect him to play. So i think our focus is on getting ready for jacksonville and we've talked about. It's really day to day so we'll We'll take it one day at a time But i wouldn't have dissipated employee on sunday and recalibrate here. We go okay. Well why is he not playing. Nick why is he not playing. Who made that decision for him. Not to play. I'm just surprised. Now you can say. Maybe they don't want to say. But i still would want to know if i'm a reporter in there is bad optics for the organization. We both agree that it's best that he does not play right now. Like like if you say that at least we have an answer. We both agree. This is not the best time for him to play. We're still trying to sort out everything you know. But he's at practice. Why have on the field at all you said. He's not a distraction but then he must be a distraction if he'd be plays. Yeah paulie you always want to ask the question. Why is your eligible to play healthy star quarterback not starting this weekend and if you could answer that he's eligible to play if you say well he's being charged with this. No no not yet. He's has been charged with anything. He still held the league by the team by everybody. Unless we don't know. And i don't know if the league's involved in this behind the scenes saying we don't we don't want him on the field not with everything that's hanging over him the club. I'm even wondering. I'm starting to wonder about twenty twenty two because if he's out to postal february and we're talking like a three year trial. Why what's the endgame here. Well the end game would be settling but you know it's both sides of several not going to settle now. They said that for now. I don't know if you it's like you know somebody not getting trade ben. "Bruce you had a a i would say you know even better than front row seat for one of the more Eventful results from saturday. You were the sideline reporter for lsu ucla. You've been telling us for months that. Ucla was gonna be this much improved physical team. I was very skeptical. I think most people were skeptical though. That's exactly what they went and did to. Lsu what was it like. There are at the rose bowl. Stu my ears are still ringing from last night It was a really fun atmosphere. I know a lot of people. Don't last week notice. There's so many empty seats at the rose bowl when they played hawaii and they kind of just kind of smirk at at the vibe around the rose bowl and the place was Was basically packed and there was a bunch of lsu fans but it wasn't. I won't point. I thought it was gonna be fifty. Fifty was probably seventy five. Twenty five or so Ucla but it was really good energy in the building. I thought from our meetings. We went to practice on friday. Just a lotta confidence about what they they feel like. They have become at ucla and chip. Kelly told us we gotta remember the for context when he first got there they had sixty three players go through spring. They had one hundred fifteen this year and the the first year at fifty seven scholarship guys may be seven. Scholarship offense alignment now. They're well over eighty scholarship guys. It's just it built to this. And so i think like you. Lsu it was really interesting. Tommy moffitt is lsu strength coach. And he's been at lsu for a long time but before that he was at tennessee. He's been around some big big time programs and he said he was while they are a really good-looking football team watching them. More mob

Only 11 that whole time he was there. I say only that kill for Killed even sniff the outside of one. You know when he lost one to hear, Hey, did that the Texas game 65. They haven't been back since. So since 98 When the BCS slash C f P started when we got away from the voting voting ended 97 back when bear Brian used to fix the ballot box totally rigged for the bear. Since 98 when you've had at least a playoff championship, the on Lee. So what's that 23 years? The on Lee Pac 10 or 12 teams were S E and 04 S. C N 05. Organ intent. That's three and then Oregon and Washington and see if it's a five times in 22 years out of like a possible like 60 slot, So it goes back to you your question as to how come the best California. Well, you know, local California college recruit kids don't play ball in the Pac 12 there. There you go. That's it. I'm gonna look damn what could break it? It's gonna take some superstar coach to break the trend. You gotta have just some guy comes and builds the bejesus out of a program. Right? Maybe Chip Kelly, is that guy in Westwood? You know, you know But now it's going to take that Mario Crystal balls and Oregon he's recruiting a lot, but I don't know how good of a coach he is. But other than that, I mean, I got Justin Wilcox is he wanna build it? Cal could ever get there. Of cows that culture to get there, you know. But anyway, it was fun, and I enjoyed it. "Doug Peterson is a hard nut to crack to fairly determine a what specifically went awry and how much should be dropped at his doorstep. And to what should be his value. Now on the open market with the job openings, one team it's hard for me not to look at this and say he tanked this because he wanted out. He said. You know what? Jeffrey? Lori, let me out of here. This is not gonna work out. This is some is a toxic relationship all the way around from my locker room to my general manager. Wow. And and he said, Let me find a statue outside the state. He would be the cavalier. I think it was and I think it's an untenable situation. A smudges We talk about Doug Peterson. We also can't look past the Howie Roseman, who is now if he stays if he keeps his job going to be hiring his third head coach. Now, let's just have a brief history here. Hey, was with Andy Reid back in 2000 and 10. That's when he was hired. He did not even have a general manager title. He did not have personnel authority. Andy Reid had that authority because he had been there for so long after They moved on from Andy Reid after his third season. This is how it Rosemond third season, they hired Chip Kelly. He was the general manager until chip, Kelly said. I want personnel decisions, and so he moved to the VP of football operations. Eventually, he was kind of out of the organization for like half of this half of the season, and they fired Chip Kelly inserted Pat Shurmur as the assistant he took over. Personnel decisions again, and then they obviously moved on and hired Doug Peterson, and now they're firing. Doug Peterson and Howie Roseman has had personnel decisions over that point, even though it seems like it was a little bit of an influence the other way. On. Do you know what happened this year? And that's what's most important. BT in the second round of the 2020 drafts they drafted Jalen hurts, and it was confounding to everyone who could. Who could imagine the dynamics of a locker room? Especially a quarterback meeting room with a guy. You just paid $128 million in an extension and it never got better now, T move off of Howie Roseman. On back to Doug Peterson. He never managed this the right way, and you could see it from the very beginning of the season. Bt there were questions about what role does Jalen Hurts? Have? He never answered it right. He just kind of let it sit in limbo and I get it. It was a pandemic season training camp in O T. A's all that stuff rolled, disjointed and jacked up, but You had to have some sort of plan, right? You don't. And if there wasn't a plan, that means that you weren't on the same page is your general manager. And so as the season went on, it got worse and worse and worse, Because the guy you paid $128 million started paying like he deserved to be on 1/5 year. I mean, ah! Fifth round draft pick first round contract. You played that poorly. The point that he got benched in the whole time. Doug Peterson just kind of don't know didn't answer the questions, and he didn't. He didn't not least not anybody satisfaction on not the least of which was his team on its. There's no, there's no When you stop and look back at it. There really isn't a question on why they underperformed. It's because it was chaos up top. And when there's chaos up top, That's why I went to that old story. When this case understood when there's chaos up top, it always trickles down to the field. Always always. I think you lay that out well, but I think it's important to go through those steps there. It's getting better, but also last couple of years this division's been a train wreck up. So there's been this massive element of underachievement and confusion in arguably, or maybe you would even say inarguably. Now the Aves eases resuscitated itself. After what your come outside of the Pats. You could say that it's been it's inarguably where wasn't arguably the worst division in football. And they still couldn't distinguish themselves. It's weird because any time you want a Super Bowl, you know you've got a dole out the proper props. You don't you don't you know? I mean, I don't can can of masa get a 16 team be the one Yeah, I think anything could happen as we saw with U N B c and Virginia you don't you don't stumble your way. That was Super Bowl. You just don't You don't backdoor your way to the Super Bowl when you might circumstantially if the conference is really down and The team You're playing in the division around their stars heard like there could be circumstance. Maybe why you can maybe stumbled into the Super Bowl? You ain't winning the Super Bowl if you're not doing some stuff, right, So we have to make sure that we give him a lot of props, But no doubt. Once you get past that now, you gotta look at the facts you say Okay, well Without, you know, not only frank, right? But without de Filipo you you have had Carson Wentz go from a top five quarterback. Basically, someone's gonna win the EVP. To literally and statistically, the worst quarterback in football. Yeah, that's number one number two. It's almost hard to do, man. It's hard. It's hard to do it. It's almost even hard to even fathom doing is one thing. It's hard to even fathom like, how could that happen? So that under your watch without the assistance in tutelage of right candy flip. Oh, you went from that amazing said that almost everybody was jealous of outside of two or three teams. Too. The guy was a train wreck. It is the worst quarterback in football. You may have lost the locker room. Okay. I know we've heard conflicting reports. But what went down? You certainly gain respect around the league. That's for sure. And the young quarterback, whether you wanted him or you didn't the way you fail to empower him. After so many good moments, you were so weak in asserting any sort of confidence toward him. That he deserves to be fired. Like I've said this for two weeks now that he deserves to, maybe more that he deserves to be fired. I'm not I like he this He earned this pink slip right? But the question now becomes this too. What should feel they do And how appealing his Doug Peterson on the open market. A lot of teams are looking for jobs, Deeks. Yeah, well, I mean, I've been a lot of teams looking for coaches for coaches. I think that you know, I think there was there was a mistake that was made. It was. It's a simple one. But it is a It's a very pertinent one. When you think about quarterbacks and when your team is built around your quarterback, and once you pay a guy It's the same problem that the Houston Texans are going to have because they paid Deschanel's Watson so much money. The team is now built around the quarterback thinking with can city chiefs you know, ultimately be that way with Josh Allen. Once he gets paid, maybe even this offseason like you..

"The number one thing I can praise DeShaun Watson for this year. Is that he has not added to his team's problems at all at all. He's made great decisions. He's been very accurate dude has been patient. He's off 26 touchdowns this year five interceptions. Also I think is run for three or more touchdowns. So I I walk away from this year thinking that man DeShaun Watson deserves a ton of credit for how stable he's been this year. Despite the bad team around him Houston's 4 and 9. I mean again Chicago, for example, they had a drive that got ruined by penalties at a false start and then a a holding penalty. That's fifteen yards of penalties from I think it was like started on second down. It's ruined the drive. He also got sacked for a safety on a play where the Bears brought a four-man rush. And only by the way you have five offensive lineman. So five offensive lineman and running back in the backfield. Chicago brought a four-man rush and his Right Guard his right tackle and a center all completely failed their blocks just completely missed got badly beaten. So DeShaun Watson fact in the end zone that's two points for the other team on another Drive Duke Johnson fumbled. That's a turnover Drive ruined and on a certain date on their first drive the Berenstain tablets and the shuttle Watson being a a at this point a mature quarterback said, hey, I recognize a blitz if you Blitz me that means you got a weakness and covers. I'm going to catch the ball and throw the ball to beat your Blitz package. He did that and guess what his receiver did not get his head around KO bahat route if they Blitz alert alert. You need to look for the ball. Get your head around to receive it in a cat his head around maybe Jean Watson look bad and there was a through Nickleby pasok. It's so many things are going wrong, and I hate to be the guy but it's not just wanna watch his fault. It's hey receiver get your head around. Hey off. It's a line. How about three of the five? You don't just go? Only with how about we not have really that penalties that cost us fifteen yards on first sales first downright first down your what second first and twenty-five now that's not you can't have that can happen wage cannot fumbles can't ever turnovers can't of all these problems. It's crazy to me and all all everything I listed from that game is just the first half. It might not even be the end of the first half. I just stopped paying attention to stop caring except disecting what was ruining their drives and started feeling bad for the Sean Watson. I got sacked six times. Yeah pressure on his face all day and those six acts are not indicative of how many times he had pressure on his face because of all the other times where he escaped pressure. He got away made them earn it. He was making guys miss in the backfield. I mean, I feel so bad for the genre watch this poor guy has I really would sad is that Number one shout out to the Sean Watson. His team is awful and he's playing about as good as he possibly could write. He's making he's he's controlling everything..

"And you're like, what kind of tease is that exact means? Nothing know. We need to talk about DeShaun Watson the Houston Texans quarterback. Home and he sat up quietly impressive here this year where he was is just a mess on both sides of the ball all around him. I mean, their offensive line is awful. They cannot throw the ball. They're literally the worst running team statistically in the entire NFL. They have had a ton of injuries. They're terrible on defense. They've been unimpressive receiver again statistically the worst running team and dad are also statistically the second-to-last defense in the NFL. So the second worst defense in NFL, they're terrible running the football. All they really have is a quarterback DeShaun Watson and I believe and I'm spitballing here but in The Hobbit, there's a mountain called the Lonely Mountain and I just always imagined it as as P cat stands out above everything else around it. That's the Sean Watson on Houston, Texas and you can throw in maybe it's a long week with JJ Watt there as well. It's it's DeShaun Watson just standing out above everybody else and everybody else is just nothing around him. It's like it's like man this poor guy is just this lonely song Mountain out there hoping to get some help and get some support around him. I just oh, by the way, they also fired their coach in October and this obviously and they traded traded away. Hopkins member DeShaun Watson security blanket. His best friend is receiver his guy who anytime he was in trouble. He could go find new can throw him the ball. I mean DeAndre Hopkins losing him was a another example of just dead man. This this Texans football team has just beeped and beating the crap out of town watch and so sad and context matters. And the situation around DeShaun Watson is awful awful. However, despite that. 7 a good year. I actually I've been watching the Sean Watson every week and I go man. Like I watch probably way to more too much football. There are four 9 football team. I watch every game they played this year and I should not have but I have faith I cuz I like the shuttle watch and he plays very well. He plays cleaned plays a fish and football and every time I watched the Sean Watson all kinds of stuff happens around the dude stuff that the guy cannot possibly control dropped passes fumbles immediate pressure where like he'll he'll catch the snap and there's three guys in his face instantly and he like I know what you do there like it's not even it's a four-man rush. You can't block for guys home with five offensive lineman. And sometimes they're running back by the way. His defense gives up a ton of points and when your team is really really bad. It's easy to develop bad habits. I think the prime example of this is Carson Wentz the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback where Carson was holding onto the ball way too long. He was forcing throws truck make something happen to call a hero ball. And that's part of why Carson Wentz Eagles quarterback has such a bad year and eventually got benched for Jalen hurts has I think he was already struggling with accuracy to some degree and the the pressure Amplified things and then having a bad offensive line having receiver troubles. I mean he is just he was jacking off over the place hoping playing hero Bowl holding on a ball taking sacks get a fumble against the against the Cowboys we're extended plans accruable. I throw it throw the ball away and Carson's held onto it fumble that it was just like so frustrated that I made a video about if you want to go watch it. You can't so.

Midnight Patriot, nation welcome to NFL. Mid Nitrates it is you boy spartan here with the the ever ever pot and flaming premix A good to have you as D to ultra. Sports nerds. In specifically football cards. On the end on the. Patriot staff. Phoenix tonight decided that we were actually GonNa do kind of a deep dive into what is pissing us off most about NFL and. Most pro sports in general to be quite honest. But we're GONNA focus on the NFL in this particular case because. Both Phoenix, myself have. A long history of both fandom and and. Playing Sports, we have a unique appreciation of what it takes. More it doesn't and how it is devolved into the into this shit show that it is. Just, we're just GONNA go from there. So Phoenix you had you had some thoughts that you wanted to start with go ahead. Well specifically. I I have a major gripe with the NFL in general. Being more politicized. And the. Let's End Racism. Okay, I get my left. Black lives matter. No sorry. They do and I agree with the message just not the manor which is being delivered. We've said that before on the organization go ahead. Exactly. All of a sudden you know we have a organization. That's Through much. Yup You can't do this. You know we have this. AFOREMENTIONED SCAMMED EMMA GOING ON. You can't do this. You can't do this. Well Yeah you can't. Okay. And then we have the social unrest of the nation being thrown into. A sporting. Venues. that. For All intents purposes let's call it. What is it's an escape. It allows us the viewer. Fan. That three four hours. Sunday evening Monday night whatever that. It gives us that escape from eager live love get up go to work and deal with people you come home you deal with cranky wife and kids don't listen dog that Shit's in your shoes. You've taken that away. And now have made it. Well we got to get on board with this. Well, we're relevant to. We're a large. Organization we goner? A multitude of platforms. That we have viewership. There any given? Day that we have competition So now we're going to. Paint messages in the end. We're going to have. Athletes will we're going to kneel to show solidarity. I got a huge problem with that and for our listeners I'm sure you have your own platforms as well. The American flag comes I stand for Gore country you back your country everything else second berry period. That's my thought on that. That's the way it is. Unfortunately when. The NFL NBA MLB hockey underwater basket weaving has become politicized in what we have to show solidarity with this. I have a question. Are you showing solidarity four? Message. Or are you As the NFL did let's put. The name of a known fell one on a helmet. Let's. Let's praise this guy because shot back when a an. Amplifier point in accused rapists. Is someone with a warning active warrants? For Rape Yes. So here in my eternal gripe with this, that will probably go down in flames just like the rest of them. Why are we? In fact. Standing behind. Someone. WHO BREAKS THE LAW? WHO does walk. Yes. They didn't listen. They got shot in the back whatever. House we say. Extenuating circumstances came to be that this ended up how that was. We have to stand behind this person as a form of. Instead of. Waiting, for all the facts that come out be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. And then move forward from there. Well. That's the real question. Isn't it is is you know? All we've seen is what has been allowed to be released. Okay I mean look I think in his thing I agree with everything you just said save one thing. Okay. I don't think demand deserve to be shot seven times point blank in the back now. Having said that. He has an active warrant for his arrest, what he should not have done to prevent that whole situation was to surrender. Get handcuffed and be taken into to engage whatever process there is. Okay, you don't fight cops in the street if you do. You mess with the bull, you get the horns. Okay. He's admitted he was armed. He's admitted he was going for a different arm- armament. Okay. And what do we expect the COPS to die? I don't think so you know I'm. In the eyes of them, that's probably what they're saying. Well. Preserved by life fuck yours. Well exactly. The COP Exactly and and my my attitude would be y is either one wrong as far as you know, one one has a duty to behave professionally the other has a duty to follow the law. Or face the consequences you know it would have saved him from getting shot in the back if he had stopped if he turned around if he'd Toronto. Surrendered Okay Understand that I understand the Warren has has since been vacated, but that's beside the point. When a COP's his I warrant for your arrest I mean you're supposed to do is say what am I being arrested for? Okay I'll go peacefully ears might whereas my lawyer yeah. Instead, of no fuck you fight you tooth and nail, and if get away up the war still there, but you don't have me. Right. Exactly. Exactly and you know I got I got I got a I. got a interject because you know. My personal opinion is if you probably agree Is this. Cancer of case. started. It may have it may have had other sources. Okay. But its primary. Protagonist, in growth factor was Colin. Kaepernick a few years ago and I don't say that in a flattering manner. Okay. I've said it before the my opinion that Colin Kaepernick is the biggest fraud on the planet as pertains to the NFL. At least Ryan leaves when he signed what Leash Langley, when he signed, he knew he was shit approved the wish she had any faded off politely into the sunset because he saw a gay. young just tell the story as I. Recall it and you you you feel free to chime in when you. When when you when you if I'm off base okay. A lot of people don't remember this but you and I as King's football and many things in life have a have a memory quite a bit longer than than your average goldfish. Okay? I remember watching the first incidents of Cabernet court on code kneeling and he wasn't fucking Neil. He had just had an argument with his with with the head coach and I don't think it was Kelly. It may have been horrible. But he had the yard, the head, the argument with Joe it was horrible wasn't horrible yet. So out of you probably saw the clip to you can't find it now because it's Youtube everywhere else. He had he had A. Verbal altercation with Harbhajan and I can only assume in what we were told. You know later was that harbaugh. told him. No you're not starting a colon Cabernet got very unprofessional and like the diva quarterback that he is. Turn Turnhill stomped over to the bench slammed his helmet down in plop disaster down on the bench now by sheer and toll coincidence. Anthem had just started. The anthem it just started when that HAP-. ACI. I know you remember this is I think you and I talked about this at the time that it happened because we were mocking him because when I weren't weren't quarterbacks when we played the game and we know what divas they are even princesses, they are this. If you remember and I know you do espn headlines a couple of days. Later words were that Colin Kaepernick was going to be fine. Substantially for multiple instances of unprofessional conduct conduct deleterious to the team. Leading up to the altercation with harbaugh that happened where he plops his ass on the bench you remember that ideas that. Dakhla and it was it was post practice I. Believe I want a That later that week that a reporter asked him. About the state of the fines and Based on his lip based on. Let's just call it what it was temper Tantrum. Okay. And that's when Cabernet sold all this bullshit about he was doing it in protest etcetera etcetera and he played the race card, which we all know the press eats up hook line and sinker and never ever questioned. Ever On. Me It came across and partner Jackie No, you're good. The the instance of which we are discussing out my first thought on that was yes it's a temper tantrum and I'm about to be busted for having a temper tantrum. So allow me to make up some juicy. To Garner more attention to the fact that. This is happening to be Gimme Gimme. GimMe and I lost my starting spot. Well, that's the that's the point I'm making. He played the race card to avoid fight. For on professional conduct and he was he was outright given a past. I don't think he ever actually even actually got find something that was overlooked too is that is that nick is not a person of color is really not us he is a multi-racial okay and part of that find that he was going to get for unprofessional conduct was calling somebody else on the field the N. Word back can't say here because quite frankly it's feds even and number two I don't WanNa get show you monetize but that said that was part of that that was part of the fine to be levied. The fine was vacated. Okay. Because he was successful, you successfully played the race card and got out. Okay and this whole shift started this snowball at that point. as we as we all know you know he was he was basically the the the face man for chip. Kelly's offense that you know while short term short term effective was absolutely not sustainable. Okay. We all know that. And you combine that with the fact that the guy had. Just over just under a shooting just over sixty percent for completion rate. Even in that offense at his best day, he was a mediocre quarterback surrounded by a bunch of very talented people. Okay. So now it has become the fact that you know this whole narrative has has escalated by people that that know nothing about the actual game because. Football is simple. It's not easy, but it's simple. Is. The ultimate meritocracy. Okay talent hard work equals success. Okay there's a lot of guys. We can probably point him out on the field you and I. There's a lot of guys that that. That just simply outworked their competition to get where they are I'll give you. I'll give you one prime example and right now they call him the goat Tom. De. Tom. Brady was drafted was I can remember he was drafted. He was I. Don't think he was Mr irrelevant. But he was real close. He was the very bottom. Yes. Six he was very close to the very end of end of the draft in and he is he outworked is is competition. Now granted drew bledsoe. If people can remember back set for was not a very good quarterback anyways. He was only borderline better than Ryan Leaf and he went down Tom Brady took over in the rest as they say district but. No? One ever questioned, Tom? Brady's work ethic in those dynasty years in in in New England. Okay. Because he outworked he, he worked his ass off. Yes he was talented. Yes. He's physically gifted but that plus hardwork dedication to his craft turned into in the in the the hardware for the hand so to speak. and. anyways back to my point about Cabernet. All, these people talking about how Catherine doesn't have a job because he's bad for business or half rights, they're only half rice. Now I posted this to the page I know you read you probably it is I. Think I read this week we went to this is from ESPN DOT COM itself. Okay. ESPN DOT. com. The actual date this was published as March twentieth two, thousand seventeen. By their staff writer Kevin Seaford. and. I am just going to read it. I'm. GonNa. I'M GONNA. Try to read the whole thing. I'm trying Doug only try to read the parts that are relevant. But those those listening. If you go to our face, a bitch facebook dot com slash midnight patriots. You'll be able to find this article and we shared it the title of it is calling Kabir Knicks based problem performance. Politics. Day It starts off real simple. So Don't over think why Colin Kaepernick is still a free age simply put years have passed since he was ineffective quarterback he's twenty nine years old has succeeded in an unsustainable scheme as part of a well populated group of former starters who also remain available at as this week began now getting that was march twenty, twenty, seventeen. So they were in free agents. Okay. Let's. Let's move on here. It's blamed Colin Kaepernick's unemployment on his protest is to misread the way NFL teams make personnel decisions. that. I don't think there's any more true statement on Earth. Do you I? MEAN THAT'S Yeah. So it goes on protests where does say at any type of business that if you have lackluster performance, did you are guaranteed two hundred million dollar job? Number One and two I was GONNA say there have been divas troublemakers in the NFL before? Okay and Kim's and? Lewis Terrell on. You know. List goes on and on. And let's not forget the NFL is the lead cut an outright banned ray rice running back from the Ravens for domestic violence. Okay. Before he was convicted. Suspended A. Peterson for disciplining his child. Yeah for banking hit saw. Yeah. Okay for spanking his own child. Okay. So now they put criminals names on their helmet. so by but I digress I digress let's get back to the article. Just to just to go just to go. Teams are swayed I by players potential or lack thereof to help them win protest or not kapernick would be under contract. Now, if he had demonstrable if he had played demonstrably better in recent years. Let's look closer at where capper nick is as a quarterback and why that has left him sitting in a group that also includes fellow free agents, Jay Cutler Josh mccown Ryan Fitzpatrick and Robert Griffin the third. Again keep in mind. This is from shelvin teachings of this is three years ago. Okay. But. It goes on to some of the reason I liked this 'cause this is based on facts not just you know a bunch of race baiting bullshit. Kapernick grid NFL success came as part of the San Francisco Forty niners read Options Skiing Twenty, twelve to twenty four. In those three years, he rushed for Fifteen, hundred, seventy, eight yards which okay. I will give credit that impressive gudgeon impressive number. For. More than any other quarterback with the exception of Rush Russell Wilson Cam Newton so let's just call it what it is. He was third rushing quarterback against. It breath. Okay. I will not fall the net. His. Success. He threw more than twice as many touchdown passes interceptions helped him compile eighth best time quarterback rating in the NFL seventy point to over that period. But even then capper nick was one of the lease most. Least Accurate quarterbacks is sixty point one completion percentage ranked twenty third in the NFL and has percentage of off target throws judged on video by espn stats and information ranked eighteen. So. Based on just the stats alone he was a middle of the pack quarterback middle of the pack. Does that mean that he's better than half the other guys absolutely does that mean that that you know the drama he brings? Outweighs his skills is still setting the money in the monetary investment probably. Okay I agree or disagree just on that statement there. I would agree that yeah, he's a middle of the road quarterback. He had some skill. At. That position. That offense. You're right. Would it work somewhere else probably not but that's Changing teams, you learned their offensive scheme you learn what they do best blend yourself into that and you become part of the team not a one man show. that. I, mean you'd have to agree that most had coaches that have half a brain would go sixty, four, sixty point one completion percentage. even if you're even if you're going to do A. A bootleg offense even if you're going to do a boot offense. Play I can. Still going to have to be better than sixty point one. Periods I mean just entered discussion. Quarter, you're talking college level quarterback. Even if you're on a naked, do either one side, you're still depending on receivers tied ends backs to be open at some point that you can actually say, Hey, he's opened easel bewitched of the two weevils need a cheese her who exactly exactly union able to identify and hit those targets or at least give your guys in a position to succeed you know. I'd like to. Bring to Light I. Not Very long after capital started his quest masqueraded by some of justice whatever you WANNA call it only because he got in my mind and correct me if I'm wrong, he got busted out period. That's just the way it is you through Tantrum he got his ass busted will now I gotta cover with this to cover that with this, and then all of a sudden we have one big lie that snowball into the entire solstice thing that's going on currently. You're. Going to look they had to go. He ended up in Washington. In front of US rest. Explaining his side of everything that goes on great. Denver Broncos of whom I am a fan. I it. Does not get into that because. Pirate about that right. That's ultimate digression. Go ahead, John. elway. It had in fact offer Catholic before your contract. said. Hey. COMPLA-. Can come down because it wasn't enough money. Wait a minute. Let's look at your stats a sixty sixty point something or other completion percentage. Yes. You had fifteen hundred yards rushing, which as we've discussed is pretty phenomenal quarterback save. Russell. Cam. Newton. Maybe rg three hundred healthy. That's stretching it buttle throw it in there. Anyway. I. Really. Wanted to see if capital could be plugged into that offense and sell. Well, that's the that's the real trick. Isn't it? I mean? End and let's be clear. He turned it down because the salary was too low, not the money. Or maybe remember correctly, he turned it down because John elway wanted to load the one at the loaded up with incentives and say, okay, you exceed this mark you get ex you this you get what we go to the playoffs and when you get Z. Experience Cetera so wasn't of excellent. Yeah. But exactly to perform at your very best as cut your in the NFL, they don't take ship nothing while the that's when the NFL stands for not for lofts. That and let's be honest. It was not only. Did he had he had to meet performance criteria he had to me behavior criteria, EXAC? elway and the broncos weren't going to stand for this s J. W. S. J. W. Crap. That he's pulling. So let's go back to the article real quick. It'll it'll. It'll really start driving the point home. Okay. So I believe he started kneeling rating was two fifteen. So. Article Goes On. The issues that we were just talking about the increasing. Or decreasing completion percentage decreasing accuracy except sets. Those issues intensified in Twenty fifteen and twenty sixteen amid forty nine ers. Coaching turmoil in talent drain since the start of the twenty fifth season Kapernick ranks get this. Last in the NFL thirty five all five passers in off target percentage is off target twenty, two point six percent of the time which when she is the least accurate quarterback in the. League. As of the twenty. Fifteen. It goes on. Is Complete. Complete is completion percentage ranks number thirty, two at fifty, nine point one. He was still one of the NFL's most productive Shink quarterbacks, ranking number four total yardage over all those years but it didn't mitigate his passing deterioration and this is in my mind. This is the absolute most important line in the yard or ear and an adult. There is no more important attribute for quarterback accuracy especially for a free agent who is shopping himself teams with various schemes. In, the long term a quarterbacks running ability is considered a complimentary skill and one that is story. Fade with age or because of injuries, scrambling ability and arms drank are secondary to whether you can hit the target. That analysis backed up by numbers essentially wreck stay shit out of this current narrative will Cohen Governor never draw. Back. Dinners. Any beds no sorry. Have a fucking job because he sucks. Sex At what he does also, there's a theory going around the going around that it was right about twenty, nine, hundred he met his I don't know if she's still has girlfriend whatever evidently these ideas about radical justice one I'd ever definitely his girlfriend is, is some sort of radical s j w as well, and he was too stupid to either a lever to the side or be not listen door and just agree to disagree on stuff but then again. Go ahead exactly what it is. Power Pussy with exactly exactly and you quite frankly I can't fault them for that because you know that's ninety percent of marriages happen. We'll just we'll just leave at this point. Is that right there? That's You were saying regarding his ability to suck. But it started then I mean he the guy the guy got lazy. He got loud. Through the race card to cover his shit then he couldn't back up his mouth with performance. You know do you your ears? Rocco's fat okay. Let's talk about just a second. Let's talk about Shannon Sharpe just for ten seconds or for a few seconds. Okay. Shannon Sharpe. Is An arrogant prick agree or disagree now When I hang on, hang on that said. Shannon Sharpe liked to run his mouth about a lot of stuff at a lot of different times also true. Yes. Yes. Shannon Sharpe never failed toback his mouth up with his physical actions on field. Also. True. Unless I'm Clinton mistake, it have you seen the. I know he's A. He's a beast. His and by that, I, mean his physique and his skill level we're just unprecedented but you know I do I think running your mouth there's unprofessional Mind that you buy then back it up on the field nut so much. I mean. Go ahead. If I if I remember correctly now, remember this because there is significant events happened in my life sixteen nineteen. broncos are in the midst of the run to Super Bowl thirty two. Tonight game. In Kansas City in Kansas. City. I can remember. Watching a few days later because of recovering from surgery on. Shannon. Sharpe was literally being drug halfway across the field for most of the game by his helmet because he was talking some serious Shit Oh. Yeah. I. Remember Correctly Dr Thomas. If. If I get an incorrect Thomas Yeah. So. So pissed off the guy, he knocking, Kane insane composure in his professionalism in the game. You got what? I think. Say He lit it up. He was like Yeah. That's ten to twelve for. The Gargantuan One, twenty, one, twenty, six, and what two touchdowns. Yeah he was a month. So. All of a sudden sanders our. Love the Guy I've actually met him. Helvin individual. Love Tall. But he can copious amounts of Shit Oh. Yeah. Oh yeah that that man can back his mouth up. Oh Yeah. We have an and. He. End Let's let's break that down from an NFL perspective. So I'm a personnel manager. Okay and I have Shannon Sharpe as a free agent. His name comes across the wire I go holy Fuck Ball sharps available, and I already know that a he's allowed mouth be he likes to talk shit and sees extremely opinionated man but D-. The Guy Backs should have on the field I picked up the phone. I pick up the phone and say Hello Mr Shannon. Trump's lawyer her agent. This is me at the I would like to pay your your plant, a lot of money obscene amount of money to come help us when football game sets. Ended up with the. Exactly for whatever he was with the Ravens what three years. Say but he wanted them for four super bowl with their to. The argument that Colin Kaepernick doesn't have a job because Hashtag grace is complete an utter bullshit. Bullshit and the the fact that Roger Goodell has bought into this Shit Hook Line and sinker is even worse. Okay. You would think that that to be the commissioner of of a National League or National Professional Sports League that race in what eight to ten billion dollars. A year in gross revenue. You have. You'd have to have an IQ above your shoe size. Goodell even that these people that that they're they're professing to support. Social Justice. Wise. He realized that the vast majority of them do not watch the Games couldn't tell you five players in the league and doesn't even know couldn't name five teams lot I mean. She probably I mean. Look at some of the fan base. Did Not tell you the difference three, four, three defense. Yeah don't try to get him to describe the Tampa to. Exactly or various offensive formation. You're the simultaneous simultaneous possession roll which you and I can quote by heart understand completely. Exactly. Our guys we've got another segment coming up right after this brief break. Stay tuned. Midnight Patriot nations spartan with a shameless plug for our new gear shop shop. Dot. MIDNIGHT PATRIOTS DOT COM. T shirts, hats, hoodies, mugs, phone cases, and just about everything else in between we got you covered whether you're looking to embrace your insomnia, show your patriotism or make a liberals headaches blowed. Really, Shop Dot Midnight Patriots, Dot Com, and now back to the show. You know that's that said. I made a prediction in in midnight moment the last night moment and I want to run around wanted to run that by. Not. Only understand that the business portion of the of the game, but also the game itself. So this is going to the business portion now. One. Of the things that you and I both know is that owners very rarely. SAY WHAT THEY THINK Or say or reveal their plans in advance. Okay. I've noticed that the owners have remained. Suspiciously quiet. About the social justice campaign that's currently going on I do disagree with that. I mean like I said, I think Jerry Jones is really the only one that's actually made any sort of statement and it wasn't a very long. I ever Jones ever quiet. What that's that's my point. And say instead of instead of. Me thinks he protests too much. Me think she says nothing for more sinister Okay so I wanted to run this by this is my theory. Okay. Now we've confirmed the the the Monday night compal atrocity from last night. US. Or Susani from two nights ago that. We've confirmed that the viewership was down approximately twenty nine percent. Across the board in that double header. So if we take the two games Monday and the overall ratings of of being down for Sunday you're talking an average of of a twenty percent downer. It's one fifth of the audience of the television audience told the NFL the PISS off. Okay. Considering the the significant financial investment ESPN has for for the right. To. Monday night football. Let's just let's just call that loss unsustainable. Okay. So I am going to ask you to engage your owner brain for just a minute. Okay. So We're GONNA fast forward to the week after the Super Bowl's okay where things are notably notably quite Rosalie quiet. The coaching carousel began and things like that since. Day. Except that, there's going to be a rumor. Going to be a rumor. That the NFL that the owners are considering locking out the players because they want to renegotiate the contracts. And this will come as a surprise to dumb asses in the AT ESPN released. They're going to feign surprise. Okay. And we're going to start hearing things like while the coaches are not gonNa make anymore are putting hiring decisions are the owners are going to. Put a hiring decisions on pause for just We're going to review a few things and Blah Blah Blah. While then we're going to get to Russia's started free agency. And we'RE GONNA. Find out and it's probably going to be one of the one of the What's The guy's name? Remember his name. One of the reporters Schefter Adam schefter because he always breaks up he's. Probably. GonNa be schefter becomes. We have confirmed reports, the owners who are going to lock out the players affected nine am tomorrow or whatever. Okay. Now what's going to end up happening is this. The overall I would say, the overall revenue is going to decline somewhere in the area of twenty percent across the before the Lee across the. Across the season. Okay. Now again does just a prediction it might be higher. I hope it's higher until they stop dish this personally but. This is what's going to happen. You're going to get a massive ratings ratings cut. Even in the Super Bowl. Which means revenue is going to be down roughly thirty percents. Okay. What they're gonNA say is this is an unprecedented drop in revenue and the the losses are unsustainable. They're going to have to renegotiate the contracts. The players are GONNA have to take less money and this time the the ownership is going to be able to show concrete. The because of the drop in television revenue in Jersey sales and everything else. That they're going to have to renegotiate the contract. They're going to vote on removing Goodell as the commission. You're actually they're gonNA, they're gonNA end up forcing him out but the way it's GonNa play out this players are to get locked out. There's going to be a review of the deal of the of the current Labor Labor Agreement. The new agreement is GONNA. Have a significantly lower. Revenue Pool total that that the players are going to get. And they're going to have conduct they're going to have enhanced conduct policy which include the jewel stand for the national anthem. You will not hiding locker room for it. And you're going to we're going to not endorse anyone as far as any sort of political failure, your ideology on the field, and if you do not only will your contract be terminated but you'll be you'll be on the breadline by your suspended for a year. Now maybe the suspended for year won't come to pass but. Engage your own our brain for just a second and then look at the strike years that came up and you tell me how how how. Or how far I'll fight on that. Will. Allow me to. Dive into this plan I mean. Here we go. I am an owner of a NFL team. Meaning I have had to. Put Out. Let's use an arbitrary figure five hundred million dollars cash right upfront. Chooses five hundred. Half a billion. Cool. I'm. Glad. Yeah. Five hundred million dollars up front in order to gain my team have somewhere to play. The voted on passed and approved by the NFL. As either an expansion team whatever then. To, Cherry pick the other teams around here so I can build my team. In hopes that a I get a return on investment. That said if I'm going to dump five, hundred, million dollars out. A team equipment place play contracts that are stretched for X. number of years. This mice guaranteed this much at a signing bonus this much. Not. including the money paid to the team from the NFL for reaching a wildcard round, a divisional round championship round, and ultimately the Super Bowl. There are incentives paid to the teams by the NFL for attaining postseason plum. Yeah So that said with everything that goes on here. Currently we're martyring. Convicted felons we are. Using the NFL. As a soapbox. As an owner. would. Say? Okay. I can understand. The Point I understand where you're coming from I understand yes. Shit doesn't like this doesn't need to happen. It does there's nothing I can physically do about it personally except point out to you that you're not them. You are a multimillionaire more working your way to that point because of your talent, your skill and your ability play the game price. You as a athlete. well-fed well trained. Best shape, your ever loving life you have a house bigger than anything you've ever grew up in, you've got cars for days all these other things but. You need to remember that you are entertainer You're not a politician. So, that said. When to go into your point? After the Super Bowl. Until they actually have one right. That two weeks later, when everything's died down in the in the winter sprayed is over and losers or duck griping and the coaches players have made their way to their respective all. Wherever. That may be they're probably their private castles. Yes don't don't live in a castle guarded by you know dogs bigger than. Most people's. Cars. Were we will probably see as you said. Well you know revenue was down. Because of viewership is down across the board anywhere between currently twenty twenty, two percent to encroaching upon thirty percent. For Games you know TV, rights merchandise sales are going to be down. People are actively boycotting across those media and they're actually making their voice known by not watching. All of a sudden if we were to take thirty two current teams. And we look at. All the owners in this how much money they have? Now if we were to take thirty percent of total investment apart. As a conglomerate figure. We're talking a loss of probably and I would strong. Guess. Somewhere in the neighborhood of anywhere between two and two point, five, billion dollars while even go you want all you can go one better I think since the economy has basically picked up I mean you gotta remember the day to ten billion was during the Obama Konami which was one of the worst economies history. Okay. So that said you gotta figure that now it's probably going to be between ten and twelve. So if you have a twenty percent revenue law, if you have a almost thirty percent, you're talking about three billion dollars. That's a three billion dollar loss. So even if even if you spread that across thirty two teams, you're talking about what? Three hundred, million dollar loss per franchised. and. So and a lot of the smaller market. Good. So again, as an owner with Joan, arbitrary figure of five, hundred, million dollars starting I just lost seventy five percent of your or yeah of my revenue that I put into have an NFL team. Well, exactly. Well Number One and number two what anybody thinks that now? Okay. We all understand the cats at the revenue sharing For Those of us that are initiated, understand understand the the the reason for revenue. Okay. That's that's a given. Okay. Even still a thirty percent cut to that revenue devastates small-market teams devastate. Okay that's. Cleveland Cleveland Cambe that's Detroit. Well, I think Detroit is a bit bigger, but I catch meaning. into. Jacksonville. Flow? Buffalo Alright. That unders. Anyway. They're too big but no I hear you here's here's here's the thing the smaller market teams are going to move may if this continues maybe on the verge of bankruptcy and and if you really don't think that the NFL owners will lock out the players to avoid that. I just think everybody's so naive that they shouldn't even be a football fan you can. Football I in my opinion, these played the players and Adele are cutting the owners throats and I don't think the owners appreciate it number one and number two I. Think the owners are more in touch with their demographic their fan base style people want to believe i. don't say that they like their fan base because obviously as the executive class billionaires general ended the tend to hate working people or at least have a disdain for them. Okay. But the point being is that it's unsustainable model for them to go forward to continue this crap. Of K, it's it's absolutely ludicrous. So I think about beat that horse to death did you have anything to add on just on that? Final thought regarding that as an owner is a businessman I yeah exactly. Exactly. His businesses to? Yes he owns the team but as a business owner, you're always looking to. CRUISER BOTTLE BLONDE Increase but also you know they've got, they've got a commitment. You know what I mean I mean the bottom line is there are associated with raising revenue to pay Patrick mahomes half a billion dollars over the next. Seven years. Of. The point the point is this is that there are costs associated developing that revenue and win the players behavior or when when the when the the players union in the League encourages behavior that is deleterious to to that mission. Then what are the owners supposed to do? Gordon exactly. They locked the doors take resigning before we open this and then players you're GONNA WE'RE GONNA have to do a big restructure here. Sorry. You know this is this is not you? Not You know you're not this side of the world you guys are on the upper echelon. Of money you have succeeded in. On yourself up by your bootstrap for lack of terminology, you have made it playing a game that you love passion for three enforce your point duty not only are they a privileged class? Okay. Let I verified this I verify this last night. I made a statement that that. The NFL, the people on the NFL minimum as in rookies that that you know what we're undrafted free agents, right that are somehow made the squad, which is more powerful MAZAFA. A No experience. Rookie. Signed as a free agent this year in the League makes a minimum of six hundred, thousand dollars. Six hundred, ten, thousand dollars I then went to the Department of Labor's website guess what the average household income for Americans is as twenty twenty. Sixty, one, thousand, three, hundred. Yes. They working person would take ten eleven years to make. They're making six months show and this is not this is not an insult. I'm only going to use the label for for effect. Hacks in the NFL make ten times. The average working family does and they dare fucking lecture us about what our values should be faulk them. Big F what. Exactly. With a with capitalize all letters with with several exclamation points at the end. So that said I. Underlined and and I tell us is never. That's that said, I I wanNA give credit where it's due also understand that you know. What did I just go off on the NFL to you know to to to the end up with surprise we'll tell you why because You know even in the worst of situations, even even in the darkest night, there are rays of sunshine out gather are rays of light and I want to heap praise on two particular players, and these are the only two players. That I'm aware of have done this if any of you out there. Needed to midnight Patriot nation are aware of more please let us know. So we can give them their just desserts in their props. I want to give particular a credit to a hundred in the way of of the of the Pittsburgh steelers. Mr Villanueva is a former army ranger That said he made a big splash stirred shit storm by doing the right thing. I'm not going to get into the to the criminal that that the that the steelers. We're trying to honor Norma GonNa try to justify it didn't happen there but. Mr Vienna wave. Did something very classy He caped over the criminals name and he chose to honor sergeant first class all when cash. Now I believe I'm saying that correctly cut me some slack by brute if I if I. A brutalized his name that is not the intention. To say how I believe it's spelled. But sergeant first, class all, when. Cash. who was killed in Afghanistan? And I I, WANNA. I WANNA take. The chance to really You know he preys on on Mr Villain away for for going against the grain and for honoring in a true fallen hero on instead of instead of the criminal. So. Well on on that. The next one and probably the biggest honors of the latest give to the Jaguars tight tyler effort. I think I'm saying his name correctly also I don't think it's effort at the. But again, please forgive me if I've Jaguars fans if wrecked his name to. That being said that were I for also You know went against the grain he chose to honor the life of David Dorn David Dorn for those of you that that don't know was retired police officer. I believe it was Saint Louis. He. police chief Sir about that. He was retired police chief and he. was acting on behalf of a friend to go and check is Friends Pawn Shop. And he was gunned down he was killed Doing doing that by a felon in possession of firearm each shot this this legitimate euro From behind in the back of the head, which was incredibly cowardly act. ADORNS widow. was featured at the Republican National Convention. So those be the she told the heart wrenching story and As much as I am I gotTa tell you broaden orphee side, but he loved me misty. I was just her story about David's life was very touching and the impact on her family were simply crush. So I wanNA other drove I drove home the point. Your choice exact life exactly as what makes you? Exactly you know people people come from from bad situations and rise to great heights in as far as I know. This is the only country in the world that that can happen. Where you can make what you want of your own life. Okay. The biggest prison that we have in this country, the prison in our own minds. So A. Big Praise to do Mr Bean away and Mr for will done. I still have the continue my. My boycott because of my standards but you gentlemen have shown that there is a a ray of light in darkness. So Phoenix where you have anything to add or have we beat this to death. By by Pres for. There are people in the NFL that are serving of. Respect for me for one. Not because of their wallet or their house or their cars. But they chose stand for the national anthem. As. SOMEONE WHO Leaves in their country. Leaves in the American dream all though little hard to attain sometimes. The anthem regardless of anybody's political stance. The gentleman across the nation. And the NFL NBA MLB. I stand with you guys choose to stand in honour your country. That is. The way it is your will said. Anybody else wants that is your choice. I. Respect your choice I don't like it but I do respect it. But I stand with the gentleman who chooses stanton honor the country, the greatest country on this earth. Gives them every opportunity to excel in anything that they choose to? Like professional football or professional athletics exactly. I think it. I think it's worth mentioning here. I know we said we beat the source of, but I wanNA bring up another topic to. Weird Midnight Patriots all of us. May disagree with with what someone says, but we would fight to our desk to protect their their right to say those words. That being said I think one of the other things that the public is piss pot tired of is the privileged wealthy assholes. Being able to have different sets of rules at their workplace than we do. In the Corporate World in William and most smaller companies you do not have. You do not have freedom of speech. Okay. You will be shown the door if you bring up politics religion, etc etc. Okay. With social justice causes or otherwise. They can show you the door. Okay and I don't think I don't think it's Ok these. Use Their their platform on the field or in any way while a uniform to promote their agenda. Okay. Now, I think you and I would agree with this if the NFL Players Association wants to get together and host either a live event or televised event. when they are not playing and they're out of uniform. And they want to tackle these issues donate money to causes give away money whatever I think that would be a perfectly acceptable display. That's fine. Okay. But I think the reason they don't is they know that the cause is a loser. Okay. They're not willing to risk their own money you know to they're not willing to put their money with their mouths are in order to have their protests but but you know somehow everybody else should just shut up and and honor was they're trying to do and I think that that is excellent. You know policy at its finest end. America's PISS POT tired of turning channel I. think that's a big factor as well. As your thoughts unfortunately mean here to. Drive your point. I could see. Getting together having one big party fundraiser l. have running toe board. Hey, you know we're raising all this money great or even several. Yeah Go. But the reason but the reason they're doing it on television is because they can reach a mass audience all at once. But. They haven't had. They had the NFL network. If. The shows a winner, they could sell it to their to their allies in the media. WHO's to say ESPN would cover it. You know for God's sake ESPN has the SP one of the worst ward Joe's ever. Okay and if they want to go up to that into a social justice show fine. Go right ahead or create when like it again. Fine. Or if you know even Amazon or Netflix wants to pick up something about you know the S J W 'cause in the NFL an interview players follow players around their charitable work while they advance these causes grace go ahead I mean I think what they'll find his a there's no interest in be nobody cares they approach it that way that we far less backlash in their their incomes would be far safer than if they continue down this path. the ratings would actually come back to a more normal. That's where I'm talking about I. Mean there are only cutting their own throats by doing it the way they're doing it that that's all I have to say. So that's a wrap for this midnight. Chicago Bears acquire Nick Foles from Jacksonville Jaguars

"Like Chicago Bears traded Ford Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles yesterday and I'm not sure there any quarterbacks who have had a stranger career than Nick Foles everybody knows about that incredible postseason run with the eagles in twenty seventeen the rest of his resume is kind of spotty had one season where he threw twenty seven touchdowns and two interceptions the best team need to interception ratio in NFL history but that was with chip Kelly number one ship was reinventing the NFL back in twenty thirteen with the eagles he's one of a handful quarterbacks ever throw seven touchdowns in a game so he's done incredible things went toe to toe with Brady in the Superbowl but he's also had a disappointing season with the rams a backup with the chiefs disastrous contract in Jacksonville that wasn't his fault got injured in Jacksonville now he's reunited with former offense to coach Matt Nagy in Chicago so which Nicole shows up who knows and is he good enough to beat out Mitchell Trubisky all we know is falls is not scared you don't want to play against him in a big game the question is will the bears get that far where he plays in a

Browns Make It Official

"We will start with the official news out of Cleveland Scavenge to ban skis hired by the browns. They announce officially on Monday. He's thirty seven. Spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota but has never been a head coach at any level level his entire. NFL coaching career. As I mentioned has been with one organization the Minnesota Vikings Stansky took over play calling duties on offense late in the two thousand eighteen season. Minnesota ran the ball. Forty seven percent of the time with Danske asked the play caller. That's the second highest rate in that span trailing only the Baltimore Ravens was introduced at a press conference just a little while ago. I the foremost success starts with people and I know we'll talk a lot about culture but it is absolutely about the people and everybody knows the Harry Truman quote. It's amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets. That's the credit and that's what I believe. We have in our building. We have great people. I know we're going to add to it will hire G. G. M. here in the next week can or two and we're going to add to this culture that that we're building here and we have the right people and again. I can't stress enough. How excited I am the be? Just a part of did you know to use a basketball terms to my dad can understand this. I want to be the point guard for this organization. I want to bring the ball up then I wanNA share the basketball and let so what else get an easy bucket though smiling over there. WE'RE NOT GONNA I'M NOT GONNA speak anything into existence right now I can. I promise you that we're GONNA work. I've already spoken to a few of our players already. And that's what I'm about I'm about working and I'm about putting a foundation together the other. We will be methodical about it. We will not skip. Step two two and three to get to four. We're GONNA start in the foundation and then we're going to reinforce foundation Shen said we can build upon it and when I'm talking about this I'm talking about schemes and technique will be diligent about working with our players so that they can develop into the the best versions of themselves and ultimately we're building a foundation for what we hope is a championship. Effort will have a culture of accountability. We'll have structures is in place the players will understand our rules. And what we're about and we're going to demanding and we're going to hold each player accountable. Because ultimately I know this about players they they May Not come out and ask you for that. But that's what they want. Well perhaps the tenth. TIME IS THE CHARM IN CLEVELAND. Stansky is the tenth full time head coach Wjr. The browns have hired since returning to the League in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine that is the most in the league over that span of the previous nine. None have posted a winning record. Heard and not a single one has lasted more than four seasons continuity and consistency has been a real issue in Cleveland. Victor certainly something they'd like to you see changes to fanciest step in the right direction. In your opinion will I believe he is and I think that consistency where it is important. And right because you put up that list of all the coaches and the coaches that they've they've pretty much funneled through throughout the years can you provide that level of stability that they've been seeking for almost a year in and year out. Can you provide that for their now. The thing I do like about Stansky a fan ski is that he has experience with creating plays for two star receivers and I think that's something that's going to have to translate over to the Cleveland. Browns obviously with Odell Beckham junior junior and Jarvis Landry and having that experience I'm sure enticed of that for an office inside bring him in and understanding that they got to get the best out of these players in the best out of all their play makers obviously nick included In the backfield now is he going to be a leader of men and he is he going to be able to handle. The Eagles and the different personalities is that are in that locker room. Desk the biggest question that still remains to be seen. It's defense gas interviewed with the browns. Before in fact it's believed that he was the first source of politics but Desta several seasons ago and and it didn't work out. Matt you spent time with him as part of that Minnesota Vikings Organization. What can you tell us right? He he was a young quarterback coach at the time. And so when I got there was actually a little bit older than he was which is an interesting dynamic but at the same time. He's been all around that building. You know he's an administrative assistant and when he started there then. He was a quarterback coach. He's I've been with the running backs he's been with the wide receivers so he's been in all the different elements of the offensive side of the ball. He's seen the ups and downs. He's seen how free agency can impact so he's got a great feel feel. He's a great leader. He's got a presence about himself in the other thing that I think that the Cleveland browns are probably drawn to is the simple fact that this is a very quarterback friendly offensive structure that he's presented presented in for a guy like Baker Mayfield that had had his struggles last year. And maybe some confidence issues. Maybe not though. Let's see the press conference the same time. It's a quarterback friendly. There's a lot of play action. There's a lot of movement of the pockets. A Lotta easy throws to be made screen. And then there's like you said that balance forty seven percent percent of the time the run the ball. There's great balance in that offensive structure in for a young quarterback and going into his third year after some struggles. I think this is a great fit for that organization Asian and going back to when they actually made this higher People in Cleveland were telling me that it was actually his run game because we see what he was able to do with Dowling Cook and how he was able to make become a good player to really a great one and he's a central part of that offense that we now see in Minnesota and that was a big part of it but in terms of now Cleveland going forward looking for GM the way it was explained to me is they really want these to head coach and gm to work as one. This is why they moved on. From John Dorsey Percy and Freddie Kitchens. They didn't feel like this was working together. So they're looking for someone who has the same vision and the analytics department obviously is of of crucial part of Cleveland. And what they're looking for a head coach and I think that's why Stefanski became that lead candidate because he's accepting of it. He wants to be part of that and You know I think I saw some reports out there about how Cleveland is demanding that their head coach presents the game plan to ownership and really the way it was explained to me. It's not so much that they want to see the game plan. They just want everyone to be in sync to go over to make sure they're all on the same page headed into the game. Well you can't blame him and and that is something that clearly was not the case. I think you make a great point. It's poor in that somebody come in and be able to work and mold Baker Mayfield but also be able to be the CEO and run this whole organization and have everybody else be accountable. I think Freddie Kitchens might have had one of those two things that went by the wayside outside the quarterback with the hiring in Cleveland. What it does mean? Is that every chair on the head. Coaching carousel is now accounted for. The browns were the fifth and final team to hire a new head coach in the off season. Three of the hires tires Stefanski as we just discussed Joe Judge with the giants and Matt Raw and Carolina our first time. NFL head coaches the other two quite the contrary contrary Mike McCarthy in Dallas Ron Rivera in Washington they will get a second chance or in some cases third or fourth various established. NFL head coaches of of all the five. Who Intrigues you? The most in their new spot intrigues me is Matt Rule. I WanNa see what really transpires here right. He seven years sixty million dollar contract. That's a big commitment big commitment. I mean we might need to think about going into coach. That's it has everything else that they're also saying that they're making a commitment to Cam Newton with the type of style and the offensive structured. That they've set up McCaffrey's there I mean they've got the pieces of the puzzle there now. It's interesting to see how that that offensive structure from college translates to the NFL. which is I mean? There's been guys like chip Kelly in the past right John Harbaugh's price guy. That's been the most successful but that was more of a pro style offense with the most the most recent Kingsbury in Arizona so cliff Kingsbury. Excuse me it's been a mixed bag. There's no question. Let me ask you this just circling back to something you said by hiring Matt rule it you believe this means a commitment to Cam Newton. Can you explain why why I just think that The Baylor and watching their offense of structure and the RPO that takes place that's run pass options and all the different things that they're well versed in and that the Baylor offense has been historically historically very successful with in terms of that offense of structure I just think that that Fits Cam Newton's game very well and so I believe that that's a statement saying look. We wanted to bring somebody in here that you're going to be comfortable in this type of offense of structure and go out and be able to put yourself in a position to have success extent to intrigue you for me. Is Joe Judge my beloved giants. I think well I just think because going into it. Once I saw the Vacancy Happen at the head coaching position I was all right. The giants are GonNa come in here and get either like a Ron Rivera type or even McCarthy and get a guy that will come in and commanding presence. Once he walks into the building and I think with the hiring of Joe Judge just left me like okay I. It felt like the same cycle almost felt like coach mcadoo a couple years ago when you give a guy a shot and bring him in if he can transcend The coaching position or the year. After that when you bring in Pat Shurmur and you try to bring take a chance on another guy. Felt like we're taking another chance on another guy but granted. I must say I loved after the press conference I loved his mannerisms I love. He literally embodied what the New York Giants Football Organization is all about when he stepped up there on that podium Liam so I say that with a grain of salt because I love the press conference and I think he's going to bring something different than the other two coaches did in the past. But I still left me scratching my head in terms of who was out there here in the type of guys that could've came in that building and commanded a present these guys by the way Matt Rule and Gioja Geno. It's not about winning the press coverage but they did rule who was must see TV. I was just watching. He's missing time with the giants. Who so I knew all about? He's got does I think you know obviously recruiting such a big part of being a head coach in college. You don't mean to recruit You know when you're in the NFL. Which is why? I'm an agreement with you. I think that is the most enticing match COPA or at least the situation of the coaches just because you just look at history and making that jump from college the NFL. It's not easy and there just hasn't been a high success rate there. I think obviously he spent a little time with a giant. So it's not like he's

Joe Burrow, LSU complete dream season to win the national title

"Morning after. LSU's national championship. Victory over Clemson We are still here in New Orleans. Bruce what what do you think will be your lasting image of the game you know. I don't I don't know I mean because it was a lot of thoughts going through my head just seon beyon- early on like when suicide next to me in the press box it felt like for the first couple of drives were not breath not much is going on but then Clemson at LSU backed up their territory. Lot Zero blitzing. They they definitely I think Brent Venables had the LSU offense the ants on its heels and then clemson started to go a little bit in Clemson's did some big plays and I don't know what point was seventeen seven or or something along the lines of that. I I think our colleague Ari Wasserman put out something that was like who covers Ohio state as if it's unclear We all know it's unclear whether this is just a blatant troll job or not. He's after watch. It was early in the game when he said watching these teens. I'm really to do tweets. It was another another one that was a reference to while. Lsu like they were fortunate that they got Oklahoma. 'cause they wouldn't have gotten through like your comes to blow out from Clemson. We saw this movie the last year against Alabama at remember thinking. This offense is GonNa get going where I didn't really expect. Stu was Trevor Lawrence his talented in his as gifted as he is looked more like a freshman last night for you on Monday night then he did last year against Alabama when he actually was a true freshman and Dan so to see that You know it was just like Whoa here at combs it was like an avalanche and it felt like this where I was going with that it felt like when we were sitting there watching it was like all right. Clemson feels like that dominated the first the first half but at one point it was like that controlled the first half and all of a sudden. Now they're down by one another so now they're like a deep hole and Lsu's getting the ball back. It was just think just felt like this thing was destined to happen. Yeah as I in the Lsu locker room and then went back and wrote Sept- sat down to write. It felt like just it was yet another game where Joe Jonesboro dominated and and was yet another. LSU blow out. And then as I kind of look back in my notes you realize Gosh I can hardly remember it now but this was the game was twenty eight to twenty five early in the third quarter after constant score a touchdown then clemson held LSU and it gets the ball back where the chance to take the lead. And I say that because by the time the game was over you would never remember it. was that close Because we saw yet another Sterling performance format from borough Jomar. Chase was unstoppable You know I wrote primarily about borough in my column from the game because I think what we just witnessed was without question region. The greatest season a college quarterback has ever had and to the point. Where you know you and I had podcast in the past where we talked about we debated Cam Cam? Newton's amazing season Vince young amazing season where they ranked in the in the Where they ranked his players right among all time? Great College players. Joe Borough rush like Cam. Newton is gonNA remember for just one season but Each through sixty touchdowns sixty and so oh just to put that in perspective that great Excuse me that great Vince. Young season he had thirty eight D.. Accounted for thirty eight rushing and passing touchdowns Ashdown's Tommie Frazier Ninety Five Nebraska. No that was a different era. He accounted for about two thousand yards of total offense. Borough when you put in his rushing six thousand yards of offense offense and they did it against a schedule that was so tough that when the final. AP poll came out Late Monday night. LSU had beaten five of the top eighteen which were pretty sure has never been done before it was And and and all and by the end you know. We're talking about things things here. That was see that if you had told me what an August that this would happen. I would say that's impossible. And yet he made it look so easy in these games that it certainly didn't impossible while you're watching it. It just seemed like Oh okay yet. Another game where the other defense. DB's can't stop these receivers and boroughs making all the right. Throws Rose is interesting. I spent a lot of the three days down here in New Orleans in the inside with Lsu and a lot of meetings in which just comes back to his hey we got number benign. It was like in there is talking about like any. NFL personnel person. Or anything like that but then there is Joe. Bureau was so much better than any other quarterback in the country because of how he operated this system are poised is how accurate. How great he is off script when the defense does something I don't know why feel compelled to touch on this but you know obviously you have this back and forth over the last. Probably Five Years About Cam Newton where he was the one thing I would. I'd say Cam Newton had nobody around him. You know the the only thing close to him as an NFL prospects even remotely was fairly on the other side of the ball. Joe Borough Roll. Had Mortiz went wild last night he actually had three drop passes well. Aj Terrell is considered to be a really good cornerback and and the poor guy gave up to fifty plus yard catches to chase in the first half. They eventually had to switch to a new to trying trying different DB On him. Well Oh I think what you were saying. I totally grew the greatest Offensive seem season. We've seen from a from a college quarterback but I would ask you this and haven't done enough research on it. You know their body work as a team matches up with anybody right and they. We beaten some some really good teams by double digits now to me and I I would argue that the Miami Ed Reed that team as the most talented team. The what I do think is like this team hasn't loaded with the level of. I think ridiculously future hall of fame kind of pro bowl guys. I mean we'll see I mean. Obviously the gap between Kendra. She was a really good quarterback and Joe Arrow is significant. But I would ask ask you. Is this the greatest offense you've ever seen in college yes. This was the greatest offense in college football. I was thinking trying to think of comparisons and to to to what you said. We've seen a lot of great offenses that like for instance. The chip Kelly Oregon offenses that took college football by storm in time. Seemed unstoppable. Darren Thomas was the quarterback right. It wasn't a guy who's going to be the number one pick in the draft maybe think about some of these Oklahoma offenses recently. Certainly certainly the ones with Baker Mayfield Cuyler Murray season those offenses were prolific. But in both cases they eventually ran into a team that was more talented than them and was able to at least neutralize it. Lsu I think an an order on his set it and I think it's true what we saw. This season was just the perfect storm and the perfect combination of the quarterback. The offense that job Brady brought in the play calling reis even Zinger and just this insane set of receivers and also Clyde. You know who you're right about. Oh my gosh. That guy is unbelievable. A tackle them last night. Just every everything that needed to lineup lined up. I think it was the thing that you know not to go too. Big on Clyde there because the numbers aren't like Numbers but I think the element of having thing like it is the pick your poison where somebody's going to go all right. We gotTA worry about twenty two more and then also the one who won the won the Belichick off award you know. He was considered the greatest receiver. ALGEBRA's true sophomore. I think it was like and then that gets to touchdown. That was the kind of flurry that I think that they're just capable capable of and I I don't want him to bring up Ohio state. I was like it did not feel to me as impressive. This clemson was last year. is the president. We thought they were Dabo. Sweeney talking about the lack of respect. If all season to me there was no doubt who is the better team after watching that it last

"Yeah multiple TV's up you have your fantasy you have your bats and you watch and even if you bet stone anybody fantasy teams thanks you enjoy watching football can it be frustrating when you sit there and you want to pull your hair out this game's taken five hours that's way too long sure but don't watch. except you can't prevent yourself from watching. yes it would be nice if the reviews would. be sped up a little bit the very nice maybe get yourself out of the house at some point throughout the day to get a little walk in and and a tan now that's not the case let's go to Mike in reading Pennsylvania Mike what's up. yeah you don doing great. I just wanna say so about but positive are they came out okay football was definitely Oklahoma and Ohio state you to give it a file her hurts when the hydrant again this year I mean but you're right we've got to go the NFL I don't know because it's tough to. try to understand his thinking because he could have gone to the NFL last year go to Cleveland and team up with Baker Mayfield and that's a job that it's going to pay more than the NFL less of an NFL team just throws it ridiculous contract that him and what pressure if he wins if he gets the college football playoff again and he has let's say the team is even when the Heisman again three years in a row he just as someone that's a Heisman finalist again there's no pressure on Lincoln Riley is one of the more successful names right now and has the you know one of the the biggest stocks in the sport right now so do you want to leave a nice comfy job where you are kidding to go take a risk in the NFL because look at chip Kelly chip Kelly was king at Oregon he was a innovative mine big name and now he is close to getting fired may be at UCLA in failed that to NFL jobs so it's a possibility I'm not going to rule it out however he has a real good right now so I don't know if I would want to leave that even though could be tempting because yes it's the NFL. should the phone call Mike let's go to jail aren't lentil take one more before the break J. Hey ma'am my Gators my Gators first of all. we don't have any type of identity when it comes to the fans from my perspective you don't know what type of the best performers that you're going to give we can we how you know talk grant them supposedly was called by a mall in the best defensive coordinator in the country but yet you look at this performance that they they doled out on on to Derry and it was yes should be unacceptable Dan you have policemen Frank's go down which is probably he's gone for the season and the backup comes in Trask and does it does the does the your track those those up a good job you know leads us to a victory you know they they missed a field goal but my thing is you know you know you hear people talk about the Gators defense is the gate of that are you know I'm a Die Hard Gator born and raised in Gainesville Florida been going to Gator gangsters Collins were they but I will get this this this this game or defense and his date or team and I don't even think they deserve the number nine ranking in the country and one last thing right do you think we're getting these targeting of calls correct because I think we're at three in in Florida Kentucky during the rejection then I'm a hang up what do you think we get those right but the targeting that and Jay I appreciate the targeting is very difficult because there are some times where you look at a play and you say the players intent. wasn't that and because the heads with the crown of the helmet it's an injection and the game moves so quickly I I don't love the automatic ejection role I don't understand why it's in place I don't love it down and there's sometimes they get it right there's other times by the role they get it right if you look at you say that was in a dirty play so that's the difficult line with that with Florida though they're a top ten team and I put that in air quotes is yes technically they're a top ten team you watch that team play you could say they weren't a top ten team week one and mark stoops has done a good job it's been a fun robbery over the years Kentucky and Florida this Florida Tina probably start off the year five but no they should be Tennessee they should be thousand they'll get their eight wins I don't look at them as a real threat I don't really see what this team is made out of in that four week stretch where they play Auburn LSU the Auburn game is and I believe in Gainesville than the adults you out South Carolina and then they have Georgia we'll see what that dean does over that for weeks stretch they finish out the year Vanderbilt Missouri and Florida state I don't believe that I could have a football team though I don't all right on the other side since we talk about teams in the top ten and I tell you I think. the Florida Gators aren't as good as their their ranking says they are let's get into the teams that I consider right now in the college football season and it's not a lot. it's actually only sixteens I consider sixteens as college football playoff teams we'll get to that on the other side it's Zack guild show right here on CBS sports radio the first stop is Johnny Fasilides CBSSports update. sports Wagner identically began on college football's top twenty five scoreboard and Jaylen hurts putting on another show for Oklahoma. if you get to the twenty seventh for a first down there's the staff to limited self right said Mexico. you see a. will be rolling from Learfield IMG college hurts ran for one hundred fifty yards in that story and another two hundred eighty nine yards in the air and three touchdowns as the fifth ranked Sooners demolished UCLA forty eight fourteen elsewhere Oregon took their Montana thirty five three Boise state from Portland state forty five ten Virginia hold on for a thirty one twenty four win over Florida state Texas had no trouble with rice forty eight thirteen Clemson dump Syracuse forty one six escrever large threw for three touchdowns and ran for another Florida trip of Kentucky twenty nine twenty one the Gators though lost their quarterback for the season but we pay Frank's with a dislocated ankle Ellis you spoke northwestern state sixty five fourteen Joe Burrel completed twenty one of twenty four passes for three hundred seventy three arson to sports Washington disposed of Hawaii fifty two twenty Notre Dame sail past New Mexico sixty six fourteen Arizona state picked off Michigan state ten seven UCF knocked off stand for forty five twenty seven I waste I was St eighteen seventeen Texas a and M. overwhelm Lamar sixty two three Harvard disposed of Penn state fifty five sixteen Penn state's would buy it seventeen ten Georgia cruise past Arkansas state fifty five nothing temple of the Maryland twenty to seventeen you Taschen about a host eight thirty one nothing Alabama wax South Carolina forty seven twenty three be why you took down U. "A Smith show, ESPN radio ESPN news. Let's go back to the phones. Let's go to Ray you live, Stephen. They talked to me, right. What's up? Stephen. I love this show, man. Thank you. Go ahead. We know that Colin cabinet was playing for chip Kelly when this protest from him started. We know he was injured and to Kelly the head coach decided to clearly not start Colin Kaepernick and going another director, even at my question is this man if Collin cabernet was the starting quarterback the man like in the beats commercials of prima Donna, basically the face of the franchise. Do you believe in your professional opinion, Stephen A? He's still starts this protest nearing on the field. Like he did during the national anthem. It's just a question. Stephen. I I know that one. What? You know what? Right. That's a damn good question. 'cause I don't know you gotta remember collared cabinet took a reduction in salary the year prior to that. Because he wanted the freedom to go in the free agency because he knew that they were going to let him go. So where he wanted to do was leave a bit earlier. So he could position himself to go on the free agent market and land somewhere else. Okay. And then obviously there wasn't a bunch of people call it. I religiously brought up by one and ten in his last eleven starts that one season. I think twenty sixteen I also brought up the fact that he was three and nineteen and his last nineteen starts is an NFL quarterback. Even though he was at the lone reason why. 'cause when you're getting coached by chip Kelly on the NFL level lost. They're gonna come your way. But that doesn't a gate the significance and the substance of your question Ray. 'cause what you're asking is. If Collin cabinet was that, man. Would he have made all of this noise? And you know, why that's a legitimate question. Ray we didn't hear all of this noise when he was started for San Francisco and they were in route to the Super Bowl. You're right about that. And I liked Colin Chapman respect what he stood for. I truly do cool brother. But I was just doing a little analysis on this. And I get it row. You know? So just a question. That's all this avenue. I appreciate the question. I don't know the answer. And I don't want to indict Colin cabinet rate. But I don't want to absolve him either. Listen, let's not act like Collor cabinet was completely innocent. And just did it for the love of his people. The fact that the man is he wasn't always doing it. He wasn't always doing it. Then he laid on the side and a cut and was quiet while everybody martyrdom me while he was in pursuit of dollars. And while he was in pursuit of those dollars. Ultimately when he reached a settlement. We don't know what the settlements. Dell's we don't know if you'll be back in the NFL. We don't know if he is back in the NFL if he did not agree and capitulate to not protesting any logger. We don't know what nuggets of info he's thrown into the wretched on it. What nuggets of capitulation? He's thrown into the direction of NFL owners, all we know that collar cabinet got paid. And for those out there that were in support of collar cabinet, right? I thought y'all and supported him getting the job in the NFL. That's right now. Nobody's got anything to say. 'cause he got his money. And what I'm saying is is that if you really wanna show. Have you really really want to show that you stood for something? Right. Like he said, excuse me. What are these NFL teams to hire him? And let's see of collar cabinet is gonna protest that. That's why said I want to know the details of the settlement agreement not the money. I don't care about is money. I don't care how much money got more money got to marry. I'm proud of him. Happy for him. What I want to know is what did he stipulate to what did he capitulate to? Because if he capitulated to all of that, and he got the money, but take Eulalie if it's money commiserate to what he would have gotten had. He been a starting quarterback in the National Football League. Then a legitimate argument could be made that's what this was all about to begin with. And the rest of us got played. I'm just saying I'm just saying. Going to thanks a lot. Thanks a lot. And it

"They got really conservative eagles. If you looked at the first few drives their snapping the ball with ten twelve fifteen seconds left in the play clock. Once it got tight. There's a couple of play games. They're snapping it with under five seconds. The other thing that I think the eagles didn't do very well was once Dennis Allen made a switch in had Marshon Lattimore shadow L, Sean, Jeffrey, they weren't doing anything outside. But the eagles only through to the middle of the field. Twelve percent of the time. So I think McVeigh is smart enough now to at least give golf a better chance at being successful used the entire field. So you know, he's got McVeigh's. So I think off as a chance here. But if if they can't run the ball, I don't know if gobs going to be able to win this game. Just throwing no I mean, this is a Rams team that we talk about as a high flying offense. But there. Assess starts in stops with the ground attack. And while it's not quite the same. So I hate to even make this comparison. But I'll do it anyways. I mean, you look at Oregon with chip Kelly was even able to do everyone goes all this is an offense that hits you space. Well, chip Kelly's often is only ran when the running game got going. It wasn't a passing attack. They use the run to set up the past. And it's not an air raid or anything close to that. I think the Rams show some of those tendencies in that regard. When I look lastly paint at the venue for this game. You mentioned the home road splits to the two quarterbacks homefield advantage here. How big a factor? Do you make the Superdome? We talk about. Or I shouldn't say we do. Mainstream media is under the mindset and misconception that every home field is three points, and that's built into these teams are equal. We can get the narrative what kind of judgment you make for home field here in the Superdome. And a game of this magnitude, would you think there's a little bit of an advantage Orie would think right having with the Rams already having played there the season, they know the environment they've dealt with it before they know they need to do change with their signals. How they need to prep for that home field advantage dramatic here. You know, you're looking at at least three and a half points. Some guys make four which tells you a little bit about this line, which I think is pretty intriguing. I don't I don't wanna go to foreign detail. But you know, the line is is odd to me in this game. I'm really having a tough time with both these games as we don't love anything. But this line really caught me off guard based upon home field advantage really insinuates that the Rams are better team. And I don't know if that's been the case for Arnall Arnall. four to six weeks now. Yeah, it's not like this is the Ramstein. We saw early in the season when they were putting points in doing so in bunches looking like reincarnation of the greatest show on turf. All right from the early game. It's going to be played in nice climate controlled conditions of the Superdome to the Arctic blast and your head, man. What's up? Continue. We're Kansas City is a three point home favourite is they'll play host to the first ever conference championship game at our ahead. Total in this game. Sits at fifty-six bet online at AG is the patriots come in. We put some of these numbers into a better historical context. First time since week the two thousand fifteen season the pats will enter the game as an underdog with Tom Brady is they're starting quarterback. It'll industry of sixty seven straight contests, and they'll be a playoff underdog for the first time since two thousand thirteen conference championship game against the Denver Broncos one where the patriots came up on the wrong side of the stick pain. We talked about home road splits for Goffin breeze. They're extremely pronounced Bella check. And Brady what for you is the first thing that you look to try and handicapped this particular matchup as chief patriots will match with the second time this season, not the Arctic blast like oh. Six degrees, bro. You transferred into TV Todd on this podcast. I don't wanna do agree Arctic blast ever. Again, that's like something you get free with like twenty dollars on pump seven at your local gas station. Like, it's it's.

"I know loves football and has those quality. How can you tell that? I know people said Myles Garrett did lovable he had a great year. Right. Can we go back to the phones for a second study in Malvern? Hey, hey, guys, thanks for taking the call bar. Not only that you're right. But if you're going to try one sport and go the other it has to be starting out with football. Then switching the baseball. You can't do the reverse. You can't start out with baseball football. That's a lot harder, obviously. And listen to all the respect to that last call the guy Johnson Huckabee go after Murray Murray, the great athletes, but they listen as five five eight, and you guys mentioned the quarterback was small in the NFL sixty six guys. But this stick from the waist down. This guy is this guy cannot be the NFL quarterback. Mark Jackson is not thick from. Now. He's flutie. He is Flutie. We say how long he let and he's more like why a running back we ever saw in college either running back. He ran the ball twenty times a game. He was also. The Heisman Sonny Sonny Sonny I gained sixty pounds through college and a five year span sixty pounds this kid with the nutrition. He can he can pick. It up was football becomes his job. He can he can gain the weight and gain twenty pounds. He doesn't have to gain a lot of weight because he's a shorter player. All he has to do is get to the same size. Tell me this. How much does Cohen way too? We coin way how much does Darren sproles way, and he's running on purpose towards defensive linemen linebackers and safeties. I would think that Murray would be running a way from them. Darren sproles has ever been. Maybe once he's I remember the he was the feature back belco like where he's playing the amount of snaps that college. Here's a change of pace. Guys. Mccollum Murray isn't going to get hit. I is there. I agree with you that rule changes. All that section steady. Get you know, here's the funny thing for all Pat Shurmur being like an offensive like an innovative offensive guy being a quarterback developer all the reasons why he was hired to come here. Do you feel like this is a project that he wants does? This seem like the kind of guy that he would want to develop where he looks at and says listen sky's the limit. If I have this guy, or what do you wanna Haskins or actually would he prefer like Nick foles who we had before? And minnesota. I'm sorry. Philly catered Minnesota. He had falls in Philly. Although chip Kelly was there. But this this. But but listen stock down. I don't really care what Pat Shurmur wants because guess what? If I hit on this quarterback. He's probably be here longer than Pat Shurmur. So I can care less. I want a dynamic, okay? You said it would go for exactly that's what I'm saying. That's old school. That's the question the old school has evolved. That's why the patriot. I hate giving the patriots credit they evolve. Yeah. They were running a single I for me the other day. What it turn back the clock forty years on the time machine? Right. So he went back in time. So it can be. So what's old is new was new show me they evolved. But they also have the greatest quarterback on the planet. Jabber? It's a lot easier to evolve may, maybe they won't maybe the maybe the giants don't see this. But how as a defensive player I would be concerned to have to play against a kid that can do that in the pocket like Lamar Jackson. But can throw the ball down the field. Like a Baker Mayfield. And you can't hit him and he has a small surface area. Because if he's five eight the only got like a foot and a half where I don't get a penalty from hitting them. And you know, could you imagine you could you imagine all body weight on this kid? Can you imagine? He's ought from. You didn't levitated for you fell on his little guy that if you can get up Anthony in Montreal Anthony, what's up? Hey, how you guys doing good to talk to you? Big giant fan biggie. Life saying I want them to pick a quarterback Joe. But I don't know, man. I mean Murray can add the weight like you're saying barb, but he can add height. And I just can't imagine that he is going to be able to see over these linemen. Over the middle. You know against Alabama put up a lot of points. But then Anthony. Clemson put up even more points to following weekend. It made me think that maybe Alabama's defense wasn't everything that it was cracked up can actually question. Anthony. How tall do you think is office alive and were in college? Do you think they were six six five six six six seven six eight. Maybe I'm not worried about offense alone. I'm worried about the defensive line that coming at them. That's what you're talking about seeing over the offensive line. But also, the heart saying that he would have evolved in figured that all out in college because the offensive linemen are big. I mean, better same height is they may be better in the pros. But they're not bigger. They're no taller. I understand in my opinion. I'd rather see them stay put it sick. And and hope that I'll walk is there. Somebody who more of a prototypical quarterback. I just don't have enough not play. So you see people? They have to see it to understand how it works. See? That's the problem the way when you talk about a unicorn or you talk about seeing some that you haven't seen before they have to see it. So they nervous and they in has Paul's. This kid was given the best award for the best collegiate athlete. What's the problem? The problem is in his skills. Guess what? He's always been at height. And he's found a way to succeed at that height. So I don't worry about guys and you. Lamar Jackson throws a side arm ball that gets knocked down. This guy has over delivery. So he's releasing a ball higher day. Lamar jackson. So to me he's taller than Lamar Jackson. You look at Philip rivers. He throws a shock. Put throws it from his hip. So as not about that as a bunch of delivery mechanics is about being able to buy space being able to buy time in a pocket. Who's that? Blake bortles. I believe gets more bad balls than anybody. He's six five. Russell Wilson doesn't get the ball it down. All right. Blake Bortles sucks. All right up talking about. Context that must be provided to the fact that there are plenty of tall quarterbacks that have sucked in urban shorter quarterbacks. My point listen, single single tear used to tell me all the time. Greatness comes in every shape and size. Ray Lewis would not have been drafted by most teams losing whistle late in the draft. Because he was he's a say. Six feet and shorter. A pack, but how many teams passed on him because of his height don't care about the height? I want to care about your production. One thirty eight. Eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six so Conor Murray entering the draft is they're actually now another name on another team that could be available to the giants that we haven't even talked about yet. That's next. Let's roll. We got our W twos from work, and it was kind of shocking. It was like how.

"Finally, we move along to two thousand fourteen which. The height of chip mania in Philadelphia. It's almost easy to forget nowadays. Isn't it that chip Kelly was the the man with the head coach of this team? I really sometimes forget he existed in this town because of all success Doug Peterson has had six succeeding him. And you know, there was a time though in chip Kelly was the savior of this football team. He'd led the eagles this year from foreign twelve record the season before in reads last year to attend and six record and the NFC east title started the season with Michael Vick quarterback. But Vick suffered a hamstring injury in week six, and then Nick foles took over and foles as we all remember went on a kill crazy rampage quarterback going eight and two as a starter. He threw twenty seven touchdowns and only two interceptions in ship Kelly's offense good for a one hundred nineteen point zero passer rating that season now as we washed foles, we didn't really think he was the long-term answer quarterback because he wasn't fit with the Kelly offense. It was argued at the time that ship needed a running quarterback too. Operate his RPO system properly, which is obviously something foles is not. But they made it work that year and going into the playoffs. Nobody wanted to play the eagles. But in came drew Brees and the saints Philadelphia for a wild card showdown at link the saints where the number six seed, and the eagles were the number three seed, of course, the breeze foles matchup that day was a rematch that is set for this weekend. We all know these two both attended the same high school in Austin, Texas, Westlake high school ten years apart from each other that rivalry, of course, was talked about quite a bit in the days leading up to the game in two thousand fourteen. And of course, it's been a part of the narrative leading up to the game this weekend against New Orleans. The game got off to a slow start offensively as both teams are trying to find their footing. Neither team scored in the first quarter. And the saints jumped on top with Shayne Graham field goal in the second quarter. But the birds would answer back inside the two minute warning. In the pocket, and then the pooper Clarkston. That ten yard strike from foles to Riley Cooper was insane. As foles held the ball with virtually no one around him for about five and a half seconds in the pocket before throwing it to Cooper in the end zone. The saints as you heard. We're just rushing three and just they didn't come anywhere near foles. He just sat back there. Just bouncing around looking for his guys and finally found Cooper in the end zone Cooper later in the game. Would absolutely kill the eagles. Because there's a play where foles is throws a beautiful ball to a crossing Cooper about seven eight yards in front of them. But there is there are no saints around Cooper and Cooper seems to know it and starts looking downfield before he catches the ball and misses the bunny right in front of him. He have gone for forty or fifty yards might scored on the play which would have been a huge turning point in the game. As it is the eagles had to punt and did not take advantage of. And I still believe Riley Cooper, probably wakes up in a cold sweat thinking about that play. He should. Because you gotta catch that ball Riley. That's place. Still bug me..

"Cardinals today, Mary king's very with rose into four year deal with a team option cardinals head coach Bruce areas, we the bucks next head coach with James Winston is healthy respect between those two individuals. The cardinal. They wanna see him turn into your quarterback. Would you be more excited for your team's very Bruce Arians? Gordon winger with you ESPN radio. ESPN two presented by progressive insurance. All phone guess. Join us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Mike golic. Mike Golic junior. And his worldly travels. Trey wingo here with you. So we set up last segment talking about cliff Kingsbury coming to Arizona from Texas Tech really by way of stopping USC as a college coach coming the NFL, and you posed a question to your young, son. I did I said the who is the the last coach to come directly from college last head coach in NFL to come directly from college. You immediately said chip Kelly, which is one, but he was he and Doug Marrone came together in two thousand thirteen run from Syracuse to bills chip Kelly from Oregon to the eagles after that in two thousand fourteen and this is a kind of a weird one because only for two years because what four or five years previous to that. He'd been an assistant coach for the New England Patriots. It's built O'Brien. So it's kind of a. Yeah. It's kind of interesting wine to throw out your you're correct. Correct. But he came from again more years in New England that he wasn't Penn say, so let me give you these names L and the last seventeen years there have been eleven coaches that have come from college to the NFL. Let's just do a very quick. And it's pretty easy about how it went two thousand one Butch Davis Miami to the Brown. St. in two thousand and two Steve Spurrier, Florida. The Redskin maybe the biggest naval time. Yup. Memory came in. He said my guys are going to be done at five o'clock. You know, we're all those guys staying lay. All right. Every head coaching Navajo wanted him to fail immediately. Guess what? He did. Yeah. Two thousand three Dennis Erickson, Oregon state to the forty Niners two thousand five rarely do you say this name and the words it didn't work, but it is two thousand five Nick Sabin LSU to the dolphin correct? No, good two thousand. Okay. That was that was a horse. Two thousand five for the dolphins in two thousand nineteen to Clemson. Wow. Two thousand seven Bobby portray. No Louisville to the falcon Atlanta falcon player that was that was the letter all their lockers when he left. Here we go deer falcon player get outta here. Man. We got a lot of nays. This one is not two thousand ten Pete Carroll. USC the Seattle working that's working two thousand eleven Jim Harbaugh. Stanford of the forty Niners. They'd give them to the Super Bowl did. Yeah. See I'd say, it's permanent guy would agree. I would agree two thousand twelve Greg Xiang Rutgers to the buccaneers. Oh. Two thousand thirteen Doug Marrone. Syracuse to the bills now he's still a head coach in the NFL. So we're like man he clings to life. There you go and two thousand thirteen chip Kelly Oregon to the eagles where it didn't work there. One year with the forty Niners. Chip Kelly did have back to back ten win seasons to start his career in Philadelphia. Yes. But you're right. But here's the problem watching. There's no way this is sustainable in the NFL is five years ago. And he's already back in college. I'm just I'm not saying that was saying, you know, what it was it was it was a shooting star. Correct. There was there was some success. Like it wasn't. It wasn't a Nick Sabin in two thousand five. No, my my point being though was that successful. He would've still been in Philadelphia. If there if there are two columns worked didn't work, what are you putting them in? I would say chip Kelly the head coach work chip Kelly. The GM was an abject disaster. And I think that's what tanked and more so than anything. Well, yes. And no, but we're getting into real getting stuff what I will say two things that didn't work for him and the NFL level awards in college. He doesn't mind exposing his quarterback getting hit a bunch of college because he has another a new quarterback every two years. I can't do that in the NFL and he played so fast. His clock management was horrendous. He wore out his defense every year he played in the work when you had Nick foles the God run on the show clearly twenty seven high it falls in Philadelphia's just it just work. I'm gonna I'm gonna be on the side that didn't work, and then you have Bill O'Brien who right now they won their division. I know he hasn't. He's one that division a lot. He's still head coach. That is the LA Hoya, man. Still head coach. So but he's been the playoffs. He was the latest one analysis cook Kingsbury, and I know I I'm probably sending negative on it and the guy. Quite honestly, a lot of it is I think Steve Wilks got such a raw deal. Kingsbury goes three and thirteen this year. He getting fired. Hell, no. He's not getting fired. Oh, no, listen. It is those can this can be objectively true. Steve Wilks can have gotten a raw deal. But I also don't want to let that color the way I'm going to judge this higher like just because he was treated unfairly does not now mean everyone else should be treated unfair. Right. Where we are coming back. The question was asked on SU. I the the younger of all of us if you're running a team and you liked them. Both. Would you go the way of cliff Kingsbury or Bruce Arians thirty nine and sixty six is the ages of those two guys wanted never coach in the NFL? The other wrote a book on quarterback was listen to me the answer is Bruce Arians. Like, it's the easy one. Like, Bruce Arians is the easy one. You can look at Bruce area and say, all right? He's done enough. He's done enough. I would have thought you'd have gone the other way because there is the swing to going to the young coach nowadays there is I guess that's what I'm saying. Though is like that's what I appreciate. Is the risk because Bruce Arians is a good easy choice. You raising your hand to talk to parliament. It's time for straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless phones, best that works, no contracts, mentally Bruce Arians areas. The sixty six year old is now going to Tampa Bay to try and do what others have supposedly tried to do and failed in Tampa get a relationship going with James Winston. Here's Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay times known. Jameis Winston since he was in middle school. We went goes camps, and Birmingham, you know? And and I think that I think you'll be good for him because he coaches quarterbacks talk. He has some salty language. I think James has responded to that in the past. Look that's gonna be the task. I mean, he's the quarterback whisperer. He wrote a book by that title. That's that's what he's here to do. And you know, we'll see if they can get the defense turned around with Todd Bowles because that's going to be frankly, a bigger project. I mean, they had a very successful offense cutter. But it is gonna be eliminating the turnovers and just you know, trying to. Get this team to win and win quickly. 'cause Jamison his fifth year. He's playing under the one year option, and they need to find out if he can push this thing forward. And so essentially what what airings is doing. He's putting the band back together. He's got Todd Bowles as his defensive coordinator who was with him at Arizona before he went to be the jets head coach Byron left, which was the offensive coordinator in Arizona got elevated to that. Right midseason. He's coming with them to to Tampa as well. This is all about one thing can Bruce Arians do with with James Winston what he did with Ben Rothlisberger with Peyton Manning with Carson Dirk cutter supposed to do that. Yes. I mean, isn't that? That's why he was Dirk koetter cost lovey Smith is job you're out because Dirk Connor and James get along. I mean, it wasn't wasn't that supposed to be the thing. That's reminder that just because dirt cutter had done at the NFL level had been a coordinator. And all that stuff didn't make any more suited to do that job. So as we sit there and say with cliff Kingsbury yet, you haven't done it at this level that is not necessarily a garrison. You're right about that. Because I look. The best D coordinator. I ever had was bud. Carson by Carson was not successful head coach. You're right. There are just some some coaches so to that point. I got a knock on them. No, no, no, no. One of the greatest of all time. When you're good at that is to go to the head coaching level. And sometimes it just doesn't work out. That's a whole separate conversation. The way that we have like kind of misconstrued the hierarchy like you're asked to do largely different jobs when you jump from that level to the next. It's not just you know, the pay. It's the next up being a head coach is an entirely different job than being a coordinator. And we've often assumed that's the natural progression. It's an entirely different conversation than the one we're having. But it it fits in certain know, we want to sit there and talk about what cliff Kingsbury is gonna do with. Josh Rosen to me, man. I am really interested in who he's going to hire. As defensive coordinator. I am really looking forward to see who's gonna hires offensive line coach because that's where they need the most help. So those hires to me are going to be some really really key things. Steve time draft because what he has done is draft really poorly. So you can do all that you want with the coaching staff if he's still bring in subpar talent, you're going to what was going on in Indianapolis Gregson, didn't you and I both think that we thought Josh Rosen could have been one of the best quarterbacks in this draft. Yeah. So I mean, this is one reason why I I'm not sure that Wilkes ever should have been fired. I am curious to see what if Clint if cliff can do the things supposedly he can do with Josh. Because I think all the talent is air for Josh. I really believe that. And that's straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless, nationwide coverage on America's largest and most dependable four G lte networks. Coming up there as one NFL head coaching candidate. Let's close.

Scott Frost debuts at Nebraska against Colorado

"But what do you expect from frost in Nebraska today that really the first game? We all know, we've seen Scott frost. It is different stops. He knows how to coach offense. He's he's gonna make point. He's going to get points. And I think you've seen the running of the quarterbacks got to be part of that mix. I'm very true freshman quarterback. Adrian, Martinez cat is very good. And I think he's got a bright future Kirk. But the one thing I'm looking at with them is how much can you run them because Gabby as soon as he found out that the freshman Martinez was gonna start he transfers. And so are you going to run your quarterback a lot to win ballgames that you need to win? 'cause they're going to need to do that. How much is that balance? How delicate is that's gonna be a challenge for Scott frost? His is is what it is going to have to do it. Big part of what he wants to do. I can't wait to watch the true freshman. I I really think the story could be on the other side of the ball. They're going to win this game. We saw just saw some highlights and the throwbacks in the nineties. It was the defense in those years. They're going to be challenged at home. Today. Steven Montas last week he missed three passes twenty to twenty five and Colorado state. I don't care if it's against the air twenty two or twenty five got some good athletes coming in from the pack twelve they were down last last year. I think they're back. It was obviously Nebraska Tom Osborne in the NFL, Bill Belichick. Bill Parcells Mike Tomlin. They don't forget at Oregon chip Kelly. He brings that toughness. But he also brings their creativity on office. You talk about Martinez. He actually compared Martinez. Marcus mariota who was on a playoff team at Oregon. Back in the college game, Chip Kelly focused on winning at UCLA

"Chip Kelly was gone to the different chip Kelly. When he left college. Football is at the top of his game, maybe not a national championship, but he built in Oregon program that was. At best good into a program that was excellent. And the second he likes citing top and very innovative. And then once he left and then Marcus mariota stay for another year for Markelle Fultz another couple years, whatever it was that whole organ thing, just kind of fizzled and they're, they're good. Again. They're not great. They're not, but good unions, the great Younis great facilities on he's a UCLA now piece in ESPN dot com. Talking about him and his approach, and it'll be interesting to see how it goes because I don't think anybody really cares how peculiar he is long as their winning games, but you can only be peculiar if you are winning and he doesn't really go for anything that isn't the film isn't really the players isn't really the game and college football. You have to have a little glad-handing go along with this unless you're just even Nick Sabin glad-handing little bit. I mean, that's one of the issues that lane kiffin had for years is he. I wasn't great around the people that he needed to be great. You know the the raw raw stuff lie the glad-handing, the the important handshakes that you need to make. That's not one lane kiffin does. May I always find it ironic that people would talk about how great he was as a recruiter, which means you're great in a room. I'm willing to believe it, but that also means you're only good in a room with very specific people like once their age extends beyond nineteen, right? You apparently have no social skills and chip Kelly is one of these guys that just seems like he has. He's he's almost like a football Rainman. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like he, he just he's one of these guys. That's a football savant. And in his lane, he's a genius. But if he's six inches outside of either side of the lane, he's just painfully uncomfortable. Yeah, I, I've told the story before when I was living in Houston and working there, they have the Lombardi awards where they bring in people, and there's a coach of your word, and there was a panel of all these guys and they. I mean, Mike Sherman was head coach. Texas a. and m. at the time, Bobby Bowden was there. There was one or two other guys in chip Kelly was there as well. Kevin, someone was there who's at Houston at the time. And all these guys get up and and do a ten minute speech on their program, and they're all great. They're captivating. They'll be room is laughing. Everybody's listening. They're good with their timing on the jokes. They're good with telling the stories, boom, boom, phone, like a comedian. And yes, remember they will be without Jillian men for the first four games of the season. Shannon, what does this tell you. Kills me that a coach Bela checks. You gonna pull some weight or you guys to go. He was, I guess he was practicing whale playing well, and then he got Nick hamstring and coach Bela check says, you know what? You're not going to be doing this any good rehabbing on our dime. So we'll let you go ahead and go bring air Dicker and it looks like they're gonna sign deck, Jordan Mathews skip. He has the greatest quarterback in the history of pro football who's also to use your term the greatest makeup artist ever because he can just cover up all the blemishes. It just doesn't matter. Just giving that guy, Joe Smith investors. Investors as the greatest ever. You know what Joe said that under. So. Look what just happened. And guess who fell in love with Jordan Mathews who loved him like a brother was walk into your got Carson Wentz. He loved him some Jordan Mathews and they traded Jordan Mathews straight up for Ronald Darby who's a really good player so that that shows you that buffalo really valued Jordan Mathews that he He was. was. That's that's pretty. That's eighty. Trae they needed receiver they had let wilder would grow in said, we walk and go market Goodwin was gong. Yeah, so they need. They need Darby's a first round talent. Yeah, he's a, he's a playmaking top to your cornerback and so they value Jordan. He's in buffalo, right?
