"Of the most important things number four. Having the facilities for young people with gary invest eight working class have the stuffing knocked out them with the decline of manufacturing the loss of jobs. That's another big problem that we face with you know pete youngsters were down that if they couldn't i hadn't got the academic credentials which they didn't need that could get a good job in a factory jobs over on all of them but lots of them are gone. We have got them anymore so we need to work with education but we need to make sure that the skills that would say jin work with young people and not only academic skills. We need to embrace the leaders in the neighborhood. Not the leaders he post at solid or self appointed but the ones that we can recognize but they are going to lead in with not for south. Will Houston Texans trade QB Deshaun Watson?
"I tell you. I don't know if houston will actually trae does shawn watson because there. They would be idiots if they did. But it is houston but it is houston a. b. if shawn watson is the one asking for the trade than you at least have to give it consideration because you do not want an unhappy quarterback because then that turns into an unhappy team. Yeah and if if you're a new general manager there's no better way to make a statement then to immediately come in and get a franchise quarterback that still in his prime. Yeah just ask the question. What would you trade for. Deshaun watson and i will make this easy for the both of you. I will go ahead and give you my answer. Whatever in the hell houston basically literally. I would trade them whatever they want you can name player a draft pick or a combination of the two and i would agree. I think from a team building perspective. That's the way to go. I just like from a panthers fan perspective. I wanna keep the players that we have that. I like no green other sites that coin. Yeah the fan in me. I don't wanna trae brian burns. I don't wanna trade. Jeremy chinn don't wanna trade dj more. I don't wanna trade christian mccaffrey house and say yeah. I mean i don't order those guys. But if houston asked for any combination of them. I would do it. You don't get the opportunity. To get bonafide franchise quarterbacks five years old still in the prime under a reasonable contract. In the first year he would only count like ten and a half million dollars against our salary cap this year now next year that have to do an extensive because his cap number jumps to like thirty five million. They would have to figure out a way around that but they could do it.

"Though that was a great place i i love i love defensive swagger and i think that's something that unfortunately jeremy chinn hasn't really like brought to this team yet because he's just like you know he's a young guy he's a young player like he's a playmaker. He's a fucking superstar to me. Like i think jeremy chinn at this point is like the kam chancellor for the panthers defense but the do just doesn't have the swagger so those planes. I do smile when that happens. Because you need those kinda guys but it also has to happen at the right time. Like jeremy chan is kind of like the luke keithly. He's just there he just makes plays he just goes to work. He just posted. Who's gonna work and makes plays and goes home. He's got his lunch and a little love a little lunchbox. You just sit down. the line. Says it's his quarter cut sandwich and he didn't say a word to anybody else. Just you know he goes into goes out. He clocks clocks out. You know nobody really knows about his personal life. he's just he's just. That's jeremy chinn. Hey what's up man. Could jeremy chinn for you. So i think that retaining dante jackson's priority over the off season. I know he's been out. I know that he's been hurt but he's actually played pretty well for guy who's dealing with turf toe. He's sure has. I know people always make fun of it but it just sounds ridiculous but turf toe is.

"Next question go i gotta end. That's gonna do it for a okay. Glacier asks did terry can get fined for serving the deuce on his historic day in tampa bay. No he did not turk hag reaches out and asks. I follow the draft as much as you guys based on my board at pick. Thirty three as pick thirty three was approaching. I was wanting jeremy chinn. I wasn't sure how thorny does recovery was going. Plus i think in today's nfl multiple good safeties as an asset. After they took clyde edwards. Helaire i said i understood it in. Thought he'd be a huge weapon now. I think my instinct. My first instinct was correct so as of now. Would you rather have jeremy chinn or into one winfield. Rather than clyde edwards allaire keep in mind damien. Williams would be there. If we don't draft clyde edwards. Helaire i think even without damian williams being here i think my answer is the same. I would consider going a different route. In jeremy chinn and antoine winfield would be right there at the top of my list. I was similar to you. I did not think that. I wanted to running back at the end of the first round but i understood what the chiefs were trying to do with it. I just don't think they have figured out how to do it yet. And it's early. I don't think that clyde is not a good pigott thirty two yet. i don't think it's bad. I think that they might just need another offseason to figure out how to implement as more than just a runner if he starts doing the stuff that daryl williams is doing but with his skill set. I think you're going to see a lot more impact out of but just right now as a rookie has been anywhere. Close to what i expected so the early returns are yeah. I would much rather have jeremy chinn playing dime linebacker. End is a safety or antoine winfield playing as a safety than what we've seen from clyde so far yes i would i i. I'm just gonna say. i think. I'd rather have jeremy chinn like just hands down clyde edwards aware I'm i'm kind of disappointed as utilization right now in the passing game and it really hasn't grown. It really hasn't progressed all that much. And if that's really not going to be utilized the way i was hoping it was going to be then they should probably just th. They need help in that back in. So jeremy head's bald out jamie chins better than i thought it was gonna. I've this is kind of an admission to i think i was. This ion jeremy chinn jamie chins played outstanding early on so far His versatility his skills. That would be great here in kansas city. And i'd clyde edwards layer. I'm not calling a boss or anything like that. But i the thing that was really getting me excited about him. Was his ability in the passing game. Like where basically punting on this season in that regard. I don't really care about his runs like i generally don't care about the running as much as i do about the past game in the past games not there man. I love jeremy chinn. Jeremy chinn is isaiah. Simmons drafted in the right spot and he has been fantastic. So far for carolina really loved antoine. Winfield as well guys if you go back if you fast forward or rewind back to the draft podcast and everything like that. We were talking about xavier mckinney. Grant del pit. Jeremy chinn antoine winfield as guys that we would be perfectly fine with taking it. Thirty two guys that we thought would help change. This defense would add that extra element and of course leading up to the draft and right after we definitely hammered. all the running back takes. We don't need to belabor the point we don't need to sit there and hamer that every single week this is what it is now but yeah i would. I would absolutely love the defensive guy to have. Hsp's like jeremy chinn to go along with the chess piece. That is tyron matthew. I think that would revolutionize the middle of the field for the chiefs defense helped blocks and things out help them. Just be better in the middle which obviously helps everything all over the defense cedric. twenty four. he says how soon before stefen wisnewski and martinez ranking can take over the left guard. Right guard rules really hope. We do something to shore up that interior line for the stretch. Run well i think you're running out of time. Frankly for for the for the move to be made. Because you want a little bit more time you know getting ramped up into the playoffs. I think i'm really kind of. I'm just not optimistic. That martinez ranking is going to get any kind of significant opportunity. Just because. I think it's like he hasn't played he hasn't played legitimate football and over a year. He didn't get training camp. He was on the publis for that. Entire time so really. He's only got whatever version of football. They're getting in practice right now. That's the extent to which he's played in the last year. That's a tough. Ask for that guy to come in. So i don't think martinez franken's really. I think he's kinda just a break in case of emergency guy. Although i do believe in his talent. I think he's a good football player and i think he could help this team. I think it's just a big ask for him was new ski. You could see him getting. I think you could see him fitting near some point. I think he's an easier. Ask for him to get thrown into the mix and again the guy. He's replacing not much not much to write home about right now all right time to jump to the twitter questions. Dwi overdrive on a scale of one to ten. How likely do you think it is. Frank clark has an injury. That's limiting his effectiveness..

"Way. I was reading it. I saw a lot of people in la tweeting. I think they're probably ones like. What is this martial law. Whatever it's in the more. I read on twitter. Obviously the less. I fully understood. But they're not even a lot outside their house to take a piss out there. I enjoy peanut side every once in a while house. 'cause i got some property. One of the really benefits of having some properties. Getting a chance to is soon as you get home and i have an active bladder. I drink a lot of fluids is doing it. I don't even think there are a lot of stand outside. Don't think you're allowed to even look at the ocean or you live. So damn i know you guys got good weather out there. But i'm not sure your feel everybody's got seventy in the sunny inside of your houses over there. We're pulling for everybody everybody safe. Is that gonna stop coping. I guess new net is that what that's gonna do. That's the plan. I guess right. Yeah 'cause i remember one plan. Was this martial arts for everybody in the country for two three weeks and that was what ten months ago think didn't work it was like martial arts is not the right way to go. We need to figure out new discipline. What's that zito mixed martial arts mixed martial law. We we need medicine. This is sports show sports show. How do you. How do you tie martial law in the sports. Well i think we need mixed martial law to really attack this cobras. We want to take down. T's appease everybody out in la also santa clara county at assumes the same type of thing on a lockdown. We'll try our best to put some stuff on the internet. Free to enjoy long side us. I will say this. We're in florida currently and it does feel like very different than the mixed martial law. That's going on every california hanging out there by the pool. I will assume not not to pull the we're at and also it's been like forty degrees but there's a lot of traffic still so that's kind kinda how i judge. Somebody's going. These people are going somewhere. I don't know where they're going. But they're gonna. They're not lockdown in their house. So i think florida's potentially the complete opposite of that and you can probably look for a spike in population in florida. If i had to guess oh yeah yeah everybody thought i was going to a different way with that span thought. Yeah no because we know you so the florida. Yeah i feel like there's a lot of people moving down here feels like i saw moving rushes fucking drought in texas. Yes texas like florida's it wide open broken down there is it like I'm pretty sure. I know there are a couple of cities that they've been talking like el paso i think was one of them. Said like hey basically you gotta stay in. Your house is under control. Yeah i don't know about you know houston dallas and a lot of the much bigger cities. But i know a couple of them have been doing that. Hopefully it'll work man. Who won't aaron north carolina aaron. What's going on. what's up pat. How are we doing today. A little bit hopeless kids. Well first off. I have to tell you nothing wrong. About what you said. But i Coastal carolina's in conway north carolina. Which is next myrtle beach. Yeah and they did that strictly so they wouldn't be directly tied to myrtle beach. But i can respect that okay as it. The same county is a two different counties. Honestly i am from north carolina. I have no idea what just trying to your camp geography. Any any came in here and yelled at you for that. I'm just trying to help arm. A helpful guy that it's it's a twenty minute drive from the university that goddamn beach thank you. I mean go off though not just a just quick question of senior frogs down there is also a fifteen twenty minute drive from the beach. So yeah you're going. From myrtle north myrtle you might as well go to the university. If so facto seems like it seems like a fun time down there ball at the beach you. I'll tell you what myrtle beach. I have been numerous believe it or not the guy that's doing talk show right now in shorts and a tank top has fox. Did you sneeze. Jesus christ god foxy does have his masculine by the way on on this particular. That's why i still got this thing around my neck whenever you're on property here it is big locked. Good gator i am i am. At the end of a timer at the very long boardroom. Desk i guess is what i've been told that was used for a lot of big time decisions but believe it or not the doing the show in shorts and a tank. Top has been myrtle beach numerous times. I have been in mercury. And i have a great time down there. So it's a compliment. Whenever i coast carolina's in myrtle beach But i can understand how the town of conway's probably a little bit upset about it but whatever you get aaron what do you wanna talk about two okay. So as long stanford and specialist I have a question about how you were so dominant on takes and how you just got the ball spending like that because for longtime just killing people onside kicked i appreciate that. I think i have The most in a season or tied for the most season ever gets talked about. No big deal I was a good soccer player. Could do a lot with the ball. We've all learned that. I used to just kick a soccer ball against the side of my house for hours on end because i had to watch. Hd to play video games or watching anything. i think that helps them. And also i worked on them. I think there's a lot of kickers that don't work on them. 'cause it's a lot of strain on your groin in on your toe for me. I worked on them. Because i thought it was quite an advantage and we use it There for a couple years a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun. Go to kevin in pittsburgh. What's going on. Kevin pat first off. I want to say. I can't wait to watch you punching people to the moon on sunday..

"By the senior running straight down to hash play single high safety. They got flak. Whether it's the sam strong safety or the sam will back on the weak side inside when he should go straight down the scenes. No one's cover me. I go up to my tom. I said mike. And i'm and i'm waving my hand. Pretty you know pretty loud and clear to to meal them. Open like neil rome open ever. Receiver says that right. So i go to mike. Because we're all in quarterback meetings together. I say mike tell neil the next time we run this playing in after he makes the throwing the outside. Look down to scene in. See wearing out that i'm not covered so he doesn't. He doesn't go the ball again. I say i said mike that next time we run it plug in telling look down a open bro. I promise you gotcha gotcha. So he tells. Neil neil comes back. He takes a look at it. Seventy one yard touchdown run we. So so that voice of reason by the backup is very instrumental. I think a lot of ways especially when it's come to convinced up to the coordinator. The quarterback coach offense of line coach or even just to need help me see things just a little bit. Different started at is a little bit different to where you know you may be caught up into what you caught up into what you baby missing a few of the thing. So you know when you look at the kansas city chiefs or even the backups. You know on either team They're instrumental to. The is the coordinators and quarterbacks especially When it comes to playing on it so much duress in any expectation of so high. It's so interesting to think that they're like the buffer. Almost like hey. They're like a lobbyist for some people. They hey let's buddies got a lotta shit going on. I know that he's probably not gonna listen to me the rookie rookie water at this point but it will you please. Wide open his. Tom's actually look at. It was more than that. I said a lot as they brought. Do you need a bleed. Taylor said. I'm freaking braff. You you you you hear it all the time that the quote unquote prima donna receivers right. I wasn't get on the football field. But i didn't wanna come. I wanted to come across that way so tried to you. Know slide. It in the best. I could so even my times. I don't think because we in the same room that i'm going to get all the old the goodies andrea hasty charles johnson and ernie meals again pin thinking that. I'm trying to one up right so which was do. I'm wide open. And lo and behold. When i said it and we caught it man we were on the run and we ended up getting and i think we all like four or five game winning streak. Because i think we don't like we were two and four something crazy one in four at that time and that was one of those games that ignited run to allowing us that season. Finish eleven and five and making a run to the super bowl but yeah the backup quarterback you know he's the he's the greatest player on the football field right especially when it starts doing bad so you make him earnest keeps lie. You're doing good or if you're struggling just a little bit by talking to everybody and you're pretty much helping him so to speak to wear when you're not doing good you're making them become best friends when everybody while you're out there playing so when he does get a chance to come in like yeah. Let's go go do it and you know they end up doing it. You know just like teddy bridgewater. When drew brees went down you saw that run. last year. he made a great run in in. You know however they got it done. It did a great job to help to wear when drew brees came back. They finished thirteen three that in a regular season division. End up losing a little bit too soon. But that's another time that we had a chance. The backup quarterback somewhat a cordell. It's always as a kid growing up in pittsburgh during your era. It's really cool to talk to you. And i can't thank you enough for your time man. Hey guys.

"Us now is a man. That's from the indianapolis area want to southern illinois has taken the nfl by storm second round pick. He's currently the reigning defending on. No no. this is over. I don't know if they've named another one but he was defensive. Rookie of the month for october. So i don't know if they've named the november one yet. I am not sure. But i have two touchdowns in like ten seconds last week. Ladies and gentlemen. Jeremy chinn ooh going on man man. I'm excited beyond your today. Hey i'm ponti you're on here too. I didn't know you were in indianapolis kit yelm out from india so i grew up watching you. Well tell you what. I'm happy to know that. I probably taught you everything you. That's good to know man. Hey the nfl you have been absolutely dominant. I this year more. So than years past the rookies have been doing good. Like for instance normally rookies come. And there's like a learning curve. And how you doing. Keep moving quarterbacks wide receivers yourself it feels like the rookies are kind of stepping up a lot more than they have in the past yourself included. Is it because like you guys are more prepared. You think you think it's potentially because of the offseason with zoom you're able to learn and digest everything mentally before you had to do anything physically and it wasn't as confusing. You get to learn learning like what do you think. It has been like for you personally to make the transition. Obviously it's not easy. Nothing is easy when it comes to the nfl but has made it almost feel as if you've been able to step right in and play really high quality football for the panthers down one. I definitely think there has been a learning curve. I've been learning this whole season. Ever since you know. Wants his camp really but I think the virtual edo ta's and stuff like that learn. The playbook has definitely helped a lot. So when i actually got here to in charlotte offer camp. I was pretty aware. The playbook and athletic i had you know just a a a foot in the door already. You know in a sense. Just because i was able to take all that time. Take all that time. Just learn second round draft pick so obviously. It's not like you have the He's a seventh round. Undrafted free agent chip on your shoulder but southern illinois's not like an nfl factory mean that how do you. How'd you end up at southern illinois. And then what happened at southern illinois that propelled you into a second round pick into the player to are today was it. A body was physical thing was it. What was it that you ended up. You ended up at southern illinois. And that got you to where you are now. Yeah it really was. It was a physical thing. I was never see my sophomore year of high school. I think i was maybe five seven one hundred and twenty five pounds. I hit. I hit grossberg late in high school. That's that's how. I ended up at a at seven and then from there i ended up starting for years at southern. So that really proud me you not to come to the nfl at a lotta great coaches at So what is your. You just woke up one morning all no longer a little child because you hear about that with basketball players. You're that like basketball. Players guy will be five eight five. Nine school point art k. He's got handles. He's got shaky understands the body a little bit and then all of a sudden like over one summer their six foot five now and they have to kind of. They're like jacob. Sally and the avatar body trying to figure out what they got going on. Did you have that entire trains. What was the process of you growing and becoming a much larger adult as opposed to five foot seven hundred thirty pounds. Yeah most of the came my junior year of high school so actually ended up missing almost half my season As a junior high school just. Because i was i was growing so fast it's kinda e-e-e-e-no a blessing in disguise. Because i was. I was upset i was. I had to miss those games in. It really hurt my recruiting. But you know. I was going at the same time i think it. It paid off in the long run. I'm reading some of your stats here from high school k. It says chan chan right or is it shit chin chin. Second the second and is silent silent or you could just hold a little bit longer than okay chin. Finish the top. Three for safety's in the forty yard dash vertical and broad jump at the combine forty one inch apart hundred and thirty eight inch. Broad jump four. Four forty are s chin. Also did twenty reps to twenty five hundred. Oh so you're a free man. That's probably be a lot of fun. You ever play. Pick up basketball. Just like in indiana especially to la fitness or ymca yelm on all the little white kids that are trying to play like quarters high school. You do that all the time. We did that all the time. Alien big basketball state big basketball state for a long long time. I assume with your young age payton. It already calm and kind of changed the narrative of football. Did you play basketball in high school not played basketball.

"As it was kicking off. I said i thought to myself i cannot believe that god damn rockefeller christmas this game out of primetime last night but it turns out by the way probably deserve it because at that game should not have been at night. That game was shitty game. But do you think this is something that you enjoy enough that you'd want to see going forward mid mid-afternoon game in the middle of the week of a work week with no holiday or anything like that. I want to definitely lead with that. But it was dog shit. No i did not think it was good. I tuesday might be the day wednesdays just yesterday. That's when you put in your game plan. That's a big a big practice day. The middle of the week game unfortunately has to be on a tuesday that way we can still start the week on thursday and have you know what four days. A week of nfl football. It's what we're really open for. Rest in peace to the wednesday afternoon game yesterday was projecting it to have a long illustrious life. It had one game and it's probably going to be done with. It was hundred percent right. Those tuesday night games were shot to the ravens won next week. That tuesday again. We saw between the bills and titans earlier in the year. It nothing on tv. On tuesday monday night football obviously in the offseason season you got wrestling on monday. And i see always got something live on monday. Nights that involves action Wednesday night obviously annexed. The how you don't keep it moving last seven minute promo. That's a long time. That's a long sweet hummer dude. Hey i thought you whenever. I you know what coach digs and tony back to the nothing like six miles per a just go ahead and do what you gotta do in that thing. But tuesday nights live action. I mean that is a gorgeous thing. And then you take off wednesday thursday night football then friday night You know going into the weekend. You gotta do what you gotta do. Obviously you got smackdown if you're wrestling fan but aside from that college football's on friday nights. I mean granted on tuesday. I get it. But i get that we bet on it and we all do the maximum determine the shield tuesday nights. I'd rather have. But i think they should expand the horizons of the. The knights were games are played or the days that games are played. But then that's going to cause quite a task for the schedule makers for the health and safety of players with recovery time and everything like that. But i don't know yesterday if that game was worth a single fuck. I think we have a much different conversation about how everybody enjoyed it. I'll be the ratings. Come out on that thing yet. I mean enforcing the annapolis. At least the waf- yesterday was blacked out because the broadcast wasn't wasn't working or there was a contract. You that it was everywhere the. At and t. direct tv. You can watch the game direct. Tv yeah just just a quick heads up. Connor whenever you're going to draft our drop a waf- in there okay. Most people aren't gonna have a clue what you're saying. 'cause that's probably something you guys were talking about off the off the air back there. You should say the waf- wednesday afternoon football listening or watching. That isn't in the office. You know what. I mean not granted. I put together very quickly. I have no idea. I was talking. I'd take him up before the show. Spitballing your wife. Just rolls off the tongue. Yeah it does because it is such a good name for people that maybe can't pick it up was quick because as soon as you say that i think a lot of people potentially wanting to the boston connor listening have it where they just get entrance with or whatever you just sit there and listen everything afterwards so you just kind of but i do wednesday afternoon football. I didn't know it was blacked out in indianapolis. You guys didn't see that game. We streamed it but yeah you have direct tv. You couldn't watch it. Is this one of those direct tv cd's dispute. Yep i think it's only gonna get worse by the way because i think i've xfinity in the house but i also have direct tv because sunday. The nfl ticket things there for The downstairs is currently battling nbc. Cbs and fox. Okay so there's a ticker at the top. That's like if you love this. Show be sure to tell. Bob bob lock. Because you're in danger of losing in that kind of that happens you know every few years or whatever you see it on one channel or another channel because his contract disputes. But now that everybody's cutting the goddamn cable. I assume that some people were expecting a certain amount of money in other people are saying we can't give it. I wonder if are we potentially right on the precipice of streaming everything and all these apps taking over it because there's no way xfinity direct tv and all them are going to be able to pay what they've been paying for a long long time with. How many people that are cutting the cord. This could be the dawn of a new day. So you guys obviously missed the game and had to stream it. But that's potentially the future going forward here in indianapolis. I think these markets where they're battling change of the whole world by picot. Tv to what's stopping nbc. From saying you ever show in all sunday night. Football games on here now and it's very obvious. Connor if you look at any of the marketing plan for anybody. Everybody wants people on their streaming services in the wwe performance center. So i'd be remiss. If i didn't talk about vince mcmahon did this fucking like ten years ago or whatever and he was like. Oh we're gonna have our own network. They've we're gonna subscribe to it and everybody says you're going to kill your business. You're gonna kill your business your fucking idiot now. He has like two million twenty five million network subscribers his own network. You can do whatever and i assume he's get sold some of it that peacock have on their app. It's like everybody's going to be trying to get people onto their paid subscription service in. It feels like the people that are going to be left out. Probably comcast xfinity motherfuckers. Still got that on their tv. So it's like the. I get everybody's cutting the cord but they're still a large amount of people that are still utilizing tv for certain things and this is just like what we talk about with a lot of things. The first generation has to experience. Something is going to be the most drastic like. We talked about the portland drug laws. Right they got like math available over there. Mushrooms hair when i think is only a whatever class one. It's like the first generation is gonna ruin that once it becomes just like the normalized thing on the back side. It's much different. That's going to be same thing with the cutting the cord in everybody of tim. Mcafee heaven. fuck fucking download. All these goddamn absolutely constraints. That's going to be amazing. Everybody that's going to have to happen one major drawback to is. We found out pretty quickly. You can't go on the internet or like twitter at all. If you are watching it on the delay like everything was getting spoiled game so that did kind of stink we we were also streaming it down here on this tv right here And i was getting tweets about. They congratulate less on the g. Three rushing now. Mike fox i think we hit in fifteen twenty seconds. Later comes on the bus at thirty nine good for us. And then as i put up the tweet about him hitting it all pat your jinx you get sacked for forty or ask popped his hammy next player. Whatever it was like..

"What's up everybody. It is thursday december third. And you are listening to the pat mcfee show. Pat is still down. Orlando getting ready to do some Some practice with his teammates as he's getting ready for games which is on sunday. Still got a great show for you cordell slash start for pittsburgh steelers. Legend joins the show to talk about today. Some hail and how similar or different. They are as quarterbacks. We'll talk about the wednesday afternoon football game and also jeremy chinn defensive rookie of the month for the carolina. Panthers will join the show. It's a great conversation. Jay hawk stops by today's fun one. So let's get to it. There's a lot going on the world. I just got done with team practice by the way of the sweat. The boys i just want to put in some work. They're getting ready for the steel cage match. The sunday wargames wwe network. I cannot wait for that night and by the light myself. Danny burch only in the bruiser way. Pete done great chemistry very quickly in there as well. You know we are setting some good things up some moves some teamwork i think disputed era potentially potentially never wrestles again. I can't wait to chat about all things happening in the world yesterday wednesday afternoon football turns out to be shitty. Yup turned out to be very very bad football I think we could have expected from the baltimore. Ravens who haven't had the ability to practice. Didn't have a lot of their players. Have kind of run through the gamut here with your coverted the last couple of days or whatever you get last week and a half or whatever but the steelers are also very very sloppy absolutely just a sloppy football game. The steelers get away with the wind but obviously they don't cover constraints mcsorley comes in and throws an absolute starts at the end of the camp three minutes left. And somehow hollywood. Brian makes a big play. They score ruin although the steelers backers. Because that's what vegas style seventy. Seven percent of the money was on pittsburgh minus ten ten and a half felt like that was inevitably going to lose but had to back steeler strictly because mark schleyer said yesterday they were gonna win by twenty. We'll get to act turn digs right. Now who's diehard pittsburgh steeler fan first of all might somen had some electric quotes after the game michigan. And i've been talking like this. I think for the last maybe couple of years but definitely in the last few months here as the steelers have continued their undefeated season whether we can talk about whether or not. They're the most impressive team in the nfl or not. They've ever got game. So i think that has to continue talked about what the way mike tomlin handles press. Conferences is gorgeous. It is beautiful. Everybody talks about the way check handles them. And how were on cincinnati and all that ship the way mike. Tomlin speak so candidly in how he never really says much but he uses words big words and keeps them moving yesterday. His postgame presser. Maybe the best one yet that he's ever had he cut a promo against his own squad a couple times which is awesome. But if you're a steelers fan in digs. I'm gonna ask you about this. You have to be worried. I gary gilbert in dallas cowboys. Give you all you can handle then yesterday. Rg three okay. Who did have the over in rushing by the way shoutout one rush by the way god. That was great. Bet fox introduced it into my life. We both hammered that rather heavily. He had a fumble early a pick six early. There was a lot of just ugly ugliness going on that game and it was still a close game in the end tone. Just like mike tomlin said it. Looks like you guys were javy. Football team still undefeated now. This happened with the packers last year winning games. They're saying it was ugly. But are you worried as hell about the playoff run for the pittsburgh steelers with these couple of games. Mccarey gilbert in trace mcsorley dominating against pittsburgh steelers. Do not that. Doesn't that doesn't worry me at all. Like i told you. I told everyone this week. It's the steelers and ravens that that was guaranteed to happen. That type of game was guaranteed to happen especially when it moves four times and like i said yesterday i can't wait to get that fucking game over with a looked like it seemed like the players. Were in the same exact boat now. If they were to and they always the steelers always always always talked about it with ike. We've talked about with ryan clark. They always play down to their competition. Now if they were to get the doors blown off in the next few weeks by like the bills or the colts or the browns or something like that. That i would be worried. If we're being honest. I just wanna start playoffs now because there's literally not one good thing that could happen. The rest of the year for the pittsburgh steelers only bad things can happen for the rest of the year for the pittsburgh. Steelers like injuries happened. Bud dupree there's nothing good that can happen. The rest of the season for pittsburgh steelers. Yeah but debris tours acl. That's part of that defensive line. Obviously that has been impactful and damn. You're all their games. But debris also play on a franchise tax now. What is due for his future. Whenever it comes you know talking money. This whole thing at ian rap now at rap sheets are ian rapoport steelers. Pass rusher bud. Depre- is in fact done for the season with the tornado. Yell source said following his mri. Mike garrett follow and a dvd. A didi reported initiatives showed a new c. l. tear in further tests have now confirmed bits franchise tech players is on twenty twenty one but debris made himself a lot of money this year. Now well the pittsburgh steelers pay him the amount of money that he will probably demand or command in free agency. Probably not in tae. That's just not the way the steelers normally operate. But maybe they will see what had happened leading up to this point and how much of an impact player. Bud dupree was two hundred and seventy five. Two hundred and eighty pounds runs very fast and his absolute a game. Wrecker alongside. Tj watt cam. Heyward all the boys on defensive line that was obviously a sad sad situation from that wednesday afternoon game connor yesterday. You said ten years from now five years from now whenever we're watching wednesday afternoon football We gotta remember back to what happened yesterday. And say hey. This is the founding father of afternoon. Nfl games in the middle of the week. Do you think that's still going to be the case with how shitty that game was now..

"Is really important to get to know players in the free process. Because jeremy chinn comes from a situation where sometimes you would pause agai being. Fcs program moving up to national football league. How long will it take him to adapt and adjust but in talking to him. You understand one from a accu standpoint. His there to from a work ethic and just an overall understanding of how to get yourself ready. He is there three think humility in terms of knowing that. I don't have all the answers. Even though i was big at my previous level. I have to really learn embraced the process to become a great player at this level. is is another example of why whence county is more than the film work is more than looking at. How guys workout is really about understanding. Who the player is what motivates them and is that motivation going to be sustainable as they become a high level player. I actually wrote this down because we always can go with these little creative things here but Man this is a good idea for players. We need to find out what the ideas for players. And what i mean by i d. I wrote down intelligent and driven when we talked. Jeremy chinn book. That was my takeaways. This dude is extremely intelligent and he is extremely driven. And i loved the little the little anecdote and he just kind of slipped it in there. I don't think he meant for it to be a big deal. But when he said on his phone that he had on their basically his goal to beat. Nfl defensive rookie of the year. It reminded me. My brother-in-law is a is a competitive runner. He's retired now. He went to four olympic trials. Marathon four my knees only guy in history to go to four olympic trials marathon for for americans and he's a world record holder in the fifty k. Distance runner but his his unlock his phone. All of his bank account every password he ever had was what his goal was to run in the marathon. Whatever that time remember what it is that was literally his thing for everything and it was just a daily reminder. Every time he was on his phone or go to the bank. Or do this or that it was you know that was his goal and it was front and center every day. I thought him put that thing on his phone. That didn't that wasn't a minor thing to me that that means something because what what does he need to share it with us to me. Who you really is like we've talked about earlier. We're talking about coaches in authenticity. And being your think he was letting us know exactly who he is and how he's motivated in. Dj one thing that we're we're learning There's coming out the best players in this game. They love it and they love it. Not because of the money and the other stuff that comes along with it they love it because they want to be the best at and they wanna leave a legacy of some sort when they're done and that comes from their ability to lock in to focus on the smaller goes in front of them they at least Larger goals and so as we get to this process and we think about the twenty twenty one class and we have opportunities to interview guys the buttons. I'm really trying. Get up under the hood and really see what motivates gas beyond the surface. Answers that they give us but if we can really pull out okay why motivated you talked about the. Id can really see what their ideas what was really in them..

"It's been fun to watch it. I remember going through that draft process it on their mobile and then to see you landing in just a perfect spot into watch your game. Just take off. What is just the last year of your life. Ben like man has been. It's been crazy on top of the process and now you know my rookie year. I'll top covert and everything. I is something that i couldn't even imagine. You know in thinking about covert challenges. That debt presented. You guys weren't able to get together you didn't have many camps in ota's as a young player. How do you get ready to make the transition from college to the nfl without having all of those resources available to you. Yeah he's gonna to take you know what you have just use the most of its the online. Ota's and stuff like that. This knocking those out taking advantage of those those series. Learn as much as you can with you know circumstances that you're giving. I'm curious when the first time you come into the building. There were coach rule and with your background corner safety all different positions. You're able to play in college in. Your skillset is so unique. That first meeting you had with them when they kind of lay out what their vision was for you and what your would be here in in your rookie year. Yeah i thought the snow really over the summer. When we started talking about what i was gonna do on fielding way ought to me like us you know pretty much moving all over the place in guy really exciting your neck because i did like that stuff in college so i think How hard is is that to do because like a lot of times at scouts. We project guys to do multiple things. But how hard is it from a learning capacity to learn all the different roles and responsibilities that you have on that defense. I wouldn't say it is hard is obviously a learning curve especially coming from fps of the nfl level. Now but i'm really Phenomenal job alcon. nominal john making. Sure that we're. I'm supposed to be where the guys around me are supposed to be. So you know. Even if i'm not one hundred percent store. If i know like what the guy nice to meet supposed to be doing certain thing i know i can make a right so german know how competitive you are and i remember saying on the night of the draft when you know when carolina had that decision making we were all talking about is it. Going to be is as simmons. Is it going to be derrick brown. They go with derrick brown. They would come back and get you. And i remember saying we're saying at the time like man they've you know they've got the versatility of isaiah simmons here jeremy chinn and it's turned out through where we are. You've played much better than he has..

"And now move the sticks with daniel jeremiah and bucky brooks. What's up everybody. Welcome to move the sticks presented by axes. Dj buck back with you here as we head towards week thirteen of the nfl season buckeye duma. I'm dj a think. It has been a great week. I think the responses from our conversations talking about hey coaches was very well received just watching twitter time line and seeing some mentions and things and some of the characteristics. I think is one of those things when we talk about head coach. We really talking about a leader. And i think it really resonated with a lot of people so i enjoy doing dust on that subject matter. I look forward to When the change is inevitably happened Coming up in the next few weeks to just talk about the musical chairs and how we think. These new coaches are going to change the coaches at inherit. I want to piggyback on that here. In just a second although i want. I want to let everybody know what's coming up on the episode. We've got jeremy chinn. Who was the nfl defensive. Rookie of the month for october and really a front runner here. One of the main candidates to be the nfl defensive rookie of the year with the year. He's had he's going to join us rang a chance to talk to him about what his rookie season has been like But before we get there. I want to tag what you just said there because it was such a fun discussion talking about the qualities that we'd want a head coach. I laid out my qualities. You laid out. Your qualities was fun back and forth. And i actually sent it to a couple of guys couple couple gm's as well as some some personnel directors. Said give me your thoughts. What what did we miss him and sentiment cinnamon that and so. Here's here's one response. I got back on. Read this text. Wow you just got my juices flowing model run with my dog. It's now turned into a walk. I almost wish. I didn't see it until you until i was done One of those where. I wish i had a keyboard instead of a phone. But i'll keep it brief a lot of these crossover and can fit multiple categories So he has leadership communicate be honest also authentic be real tell players the truth and the reasons behind decisions be able to be consistent faced the team every day. Let them know what what will take to win in the overall scheme of things versus each opponent so that was the first one the second one was communicate also being honest this word honesty keeps coming up and listen be. Egoists don't have all the answers in involve multiple people in decisions including players to get different points of view in order to ultimately come to the best decisions for the team and then lastly was innovate scheme. Not so much being a genius but being open and again ego less to evolving getting new ideas using other good ideas and being able to incorporate it into your foundation on offense and defense to find ways to beat your opponent each week..

"Will vote in its most simple minded way. Well, what we have a male customer base. What. Are they interested in? Besides. What can we offer them the aside woodworking tools. and. We made screwing around this really harebrained ideas. From Shale. But. So we were trying to diversify at that point without letting go of our woodworking. Car. and. And it. Suddenly became. Clear to me that. We were our market are major market was really motors. And and if there are homeowners are. So. Gradually over time we we drive began to offer things that owners would of saying kind of interesting quality or interesting function because always been. Very. Very important. Hopefully with unique unique function or in open, you can find it. You know in other areas in one of the first places to go of course gardening. Yeah, it's A. IT'S A. It's a instant pairing. Between. Saying. Right and it it helped us all women a little bit more to course. So. We. An Intern the woodworking part of the business. So began a stall. In other words we're bringing much to is new. But we we maintained. A Core of some things that seemed to be interesting. As customer seem to want. To expand in other ways. So in part of it was going outside. Not. Only in the garden, but in the woodshed your. Would La? Rooms CETERA. And And So, the gardening the business became. Extremely important to us in is now. But. We try to offer things that. Have the same kind of unique quality or maybe just totally any that we can find. Unique is is the best word for just about everything I find in the catalogue it's not something you're going to go down to the home center and be able to pick up. Probably not you know it's there's always. There's always like a a very cool aspect something. It's not for everyone it's for people who like. Make items who like but but It must have a good function. Yeah reason for And reason for than, we can fight begin offer it and you can take we can take. Confidence in that in that in that's that is a brand. That's it. It. Comes from. Respect and and decent service in you know. Good I. Initiative try to do. So that's that's a good set of goals, right? I I'm glad that it's worked for forty five years. I hope it works for another forty five years. Well yes, I agree so. So it took us from you know into the nineties which are a period of considerable transition. To turn of the century things became clearer. One of the things that we kind of stumbled on. Because I gone for some reason. into the big. German toy show at some points. I've found some things that were just need I love that And we offered a little bit at. The holiday time. And But we found that our customer base. Loved it. You know because there were only really usually I mean always. Usually not usually always. hoped exceptionally. Different. Lot of a lot of judge. know Tim Oy ten ten type toys. Czechoslovakia. and. So. that. Very seasonal but we have a lot of fun with. It it sounds like the Kellogg is still stuff that you like playing with. Yes. Gary's toys. Yes okay. Are not the best toy joy buyer at work. I. Sort of I sort of hung on to it, and then I discovered Another fellow. Pursue manager dare way. had better instincts than I did. And so I would go to show and I would I would not say lots of stuff because I. said in my head. But. I was looking for his. He was much more relaxed about trying to evaluate. It was funny fun probably because. He was of. With young children and all of that stuff and I didn't disappoint So I let go much much better than I. Well, it sounds like you've had a talent for finding other talent as well throughout your career. So Let's have. Some case. Luck I mean. The lakewood Toshio was just kept stroke of luck. I remember. "In the Navy and So I happen to be in this building. With an empty room in the basement. Owned by guy who's an industrial designer? So not knew something about. Making. Things you know. He had some. Interest in that. So encouraged me. I said Okay I've got. I, I have to do is to get some tools which I had zero. I will. Emphasize here that I hadn't touched a plane since I was thirteen. Okay. I got no work at all. But I knew I wanted to do it. You know. And that was the magic to me of. If you're really lucky you know something that came out of manual arts training and secondary school, which is a sense of. Pride and -CCOMPLISH on it and you know just. All of that stuff is core spin and has been stripped out in the academic world. Totally. Enormous avoid as far as I'm concerned. Absolutely. Says there's no question about it. But that's just the way it is so So I couldn't find and New York have you know you think you could get anything in your? I couldn't find anything. Literally that I recognize. themselves. I guess if I yeah. I really I couldn't find any good screwdrivers. I couldn't help but chisels just it just you know no matter where it went. It just didn't exist. So that was. That was kind of a speed bump. And then I happen to. I happen to come across something that you'll probably remember. Or? Heard about it was something called the whole catalogue. I have one I have the very the very last year. Yes answer. was a piece that was a wonderful piece of work it. And it was part of the culture you know. and. So in that in that. Issue that I got there was a small. Ed. For a company in Woburn Massachusetts. Which is a WIG craft supply. Okay. That was it. That was that was all there was you know the? Craft store will were Massachusetts been there for long time. I can't remember the name of the guy owned it, but it's always going onto other other innovations of. and. We all very familiar with. So sending twenty five cents or what was making that up a little bit. But and and I got the catalog and I became an instant customer I must've spent. Seven or eight hundred dollars you know, which is a lot of money naked nine Chevy. Up and and I found for some reason. I stumbled across a source of German worker true German would woodworking bench. Edible in New York City, and so I was ready and. Outside getting all of secondhand sears craftsman table saw. And a small band saw those ready to rock and roll and. I've never been a patient at I'd never been a craftsman. Never. I really not had a shop. I didn't show up up to that point. I didn't even really have much miss shop. Ben. But I knew that does business what I wanted to. Wanted to do this. Badly. And So I began to make things for the home. And the little that you know a table I guess made a table a few things small scale nothing exotic. And I didn't know much about woodworking at that point except when I remember so I you know I didn't know about dovetails or Know. Sophisticated says he joints and all that kind of stuff. Way Beyond My. Skill set and probably still is to a large extent. So. But I was working downtown and in financial district and outside of big paid enough. I really hated was. It was a didn't like it at all and then like the. Now what I wanted to do with my life. So I thought to myself. I was I was. sending unhappy I wasn't quite sure what to do with that. whether to try to find another kind of job elsewhere I didn't WanNa Leave York, which I love. But. Vacation. About men. and. I had this idea just came like a with Which channel to me? Since g you really like. Working with Wood. Bessis listed as was. What know you know what can you bring the party? Okay. So you. Wanted to do something with woodworking. But. And I thought to myself. What do you? What do you know anything about I'm sorry step back I wanted to get a wanted to become a lunch for her in. So I thought to myself, what do I know anything about? You know where? Where's where's the? Interest in it occurred to me that I had this experience. And And I bet. and. His stopping I know something about even at a at a very subtle level it was sort of energy and enthusiasm. And Passion because I've taken this, you know twenty some odd years and I. A reading popular. Mechanics. You know I really had no connection but the impact of the. Experience when I was a thirteen year old was so powerful. My sense of pride or person or whatever. So I said, you know you had a lot of trouble. Getting what you want. You needed to do. To to satisfy this. This Energy you felt you needed to put in woodworking and. Maybe. Know I bet that other people that had the same problem. Now this. This is a culture of age was important here. Is. A period of the Hippie woodworker. In all kinds of stuff everything that came out of the sixties in the seventies. So, and might in my in my image, I wasn't Hippie woodworker was might wasn't by. Why Target? Because I didn't know anything about being a Hippie was scored it square. Albany. New York. But. But I you know I thought. The it must be other. Guys. who were white collar or maybe not color guys who who? had a good experience or some kind of experience. School and missed it. Literally. And Gee, maybe I can. Maybe I can. I can breaks up bring. Some of this to them. So So the question was how to do it the early in the early stages of a catalog industry was I, guess getting. You know who's getting some real momentum going. In seems to meet at the market, of course, hugely diverse although. Even if it wasn't even there were a lot of people at Greenwich Connecticut, which had this. Ambition. I wasn't going to start a store in Greenwich Connecticut. Connect I didn't know how to choose Greenwich supposed to Philadelphia the other place also. So I decided to try to start a catalog. and. So the first thing. Was To say is find out where he thinks. and. So being New York goes was positive advantage at that time because. With all commercial attaches. Commercials. Countries had in the in the city. You could go and say, do you have any books on people that make things for making furniture? You. In the ASS was of course. Yes, and it was their volumes you could bury yourself in. With Company Revenues registered cows. Making them for making that..
