"How a Tiny Elections Company Became a Conspiracy Theory Target"

"Just a couple of days ago, October 3rd, The New York Times published an article and investigative report how a tiny elections company became a conspiracy theory target. That's the headline. And goes on to talk about election deniers. I'm just going to read a few lines because it'll give you a very familiar flavor of the kind of rhetoric we've been hearing now for almost two years in this country. A group of election deniers unspooled a new conspiracy theory about the 2020 presidential outcome. Continuing using thread bear evidence or none at all, the group suggested that an election company conic had secret ties to the Chinese Communist Party that had given the Chinese government backdoor access to personal data about 2 million poll workers in the United States. Now interestingly, what group are they talking about that is spreading these conspiracies and election lies, true the vote. Yes, true the vote. Now this is not material covered directly in 2000 meals, but true the vote has been doing this work for now. I believe about a year. And they disclosed it in a series of events, notably something called the pit, a kind of public event online in which they talked about their research into this company conic and the basic idea here is this. These election companies and let's back up for a moment. We have been assured now by the left for the longest time. Regardless of what you think about mules, the simple fact is machines are secure. The simple fact of it is that software is secure. No problems whatsoever. None at all, most secure election history. This is all very familiar territory. And so when true the vote came out, they basically said that this election company clinic. Has collected a great deal of very specific and personal information. We're not just talking about the names of poll workers, but who they are, so in some cases, the identities of family members, phone numbers, addresses, or where they live, all this data is being stored on Chinese servers

Nancy Pelosi's Delegation Departs D.C. With Fighter Jet Support

"You care? If Nancy Pelosi goes to Taiwan. You know, the Chinese government has made it pretty clear. That if Nancy Pelosi goes to Taiwan, there's going to be some consequences. Now, a buddy of mine in the Washington D.C. area does a local TV show there. My friend's Armstrong Williams, for those of you in the D.C. area who might know of Armstrong. Armstrong since he and I, in turn, in senator Strom Thurmond's office, many, many years ago, Armstrong posted some video on Instagram, showing what was supposedly Nancy Pelosi's delegation leaving the D.C. area. And it was quite the showing. There was this huge, some type of U.S. Army airplane, it was a monstrous airplane, had several fighter jets, next to it, and then the next plane behind it was supposedly the one that Nancy Pelosi was in, again, accompanied by, I don't know, 6 8 other fighter jets. And obviously that is needed, I guess, I suppose, because of this threat, from China.

Biden, Xi to hold talks amid new tensions over Taiwan

"Renewed tension over Taiwan will likely be part of president Joe Biden's coming call with Chinese president Xi Jinping A U.S. official says President Biden will talk with China's president Xi Jinping on Thursday The plan call comes amid word that House speaker Nancy Pelosi could soon visit Taiwan The Chinese government has already warned of forceful measures should Pelosi visit the self ruled island that China claims as part of its territory Last week Biden told reporters U.S. Military officials believed it was not a good idea for the speaker to travel to Taiwan at the moment The plan talked between Biden and she will be the 5th in a series of regular check ins and has been in the works for weeks Tim McGuire Washington

Are China and Russia Still Allies?

"Russia and China actually not natural allies. They're both totalitarian dictatorships that want to try and reconquer lands that they believe are ethnically theirs. Now, Russia is no friend of the United States, but it doesn't have to be a bitter enemy. Russia very well should be in the neutral category the same way that we used Russian power to defeat the Nazis. We should use Russian power to defeat the Chinese. The Chinese Communist Party and Russia, they're playing nice together, but they're not natural allies. You should always try to be dividing them apart from each other. Now, I believe that we must make the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government, the clear and total enemy of the United States government. That's where we need to focus our attention in our time. Not on Russia, but instead the country that has well over a billion people, a growing economy, they're ruthless to the core and they are really quite honestly ahead of pace in world domination. We have pushed Russia into closer CCP orbit due to bad Ukraine policy.

Biden Family Grifters Sold Joe's Influence to Chinese Government

"It's about influence peddling. It's about the Biden family, shamelessly. Enriching themselves with China spending millions and millions of dollars. Here we are selling our oil reserves to China. You think the big guy doesn't know about that? I mean, if a tenth of this crap is true, the Biden family not only are they a bunch of grifters, but they're compromised. Biden is compromised. He took his son over to China on air force two. And Hunter Biden is wheeling and dealing, if you see the numbers that Hunter Biden made, we're not talking a few million here. We're talking tens of millions of dollars. That the Biden family, this, what about this uncle Joe? Our uncle Jim rather, Jim Biden, Joe Biden's brother. The family had their handout, this is like a lifetime TV movie. The grifters, these opportunistic, I have to say it. Low class low rent grifters trying to enrich their bank accounts by shelling Joe Biden's influence. To the Chinese government, it's unreal. And of course, the mainstream media isn't going to touch it. The mainstream media is cover is, well, it's social salacious. I mean, it's too bad. Poor hunter has a drug problem. Hunter is troubled. Understanding the Importants of Taiwan

"I have a couple of questions for you because I'm not an expert on foreign policy and it's just doesn't sound right when president Joe Biden goes out and says he's going to defend Taiwan militarily. It seems inconsistent with what we would normally do. Obviously we would help fund them and their military action, but I want you to explain it to the audience because is this a bad thing that President Biden said this or is he right on track with his comments? Yeah, it's a great question. And so I was in the military for 25 years. And after that, I've been doing foreign policy national security heritage for almost 20 years. And been all over the world, talk to people all over the world in the Taiwan before. So here's the reality. This is the cold reality. And this is actually been true since the 1950s. Since Dwight Eisenhower was the president of the United States. The reality is the United States would fight to keep China from taking over Taiwan. And here's why. Taiwan is the key island in what's called the first island chain. If the Chinese government controlled everything from Taiwan down to the South China seas, essentially they could deny the United States access to the entire Asian continent.

Phelim McAleer Describes His Film 'My Son Hunter'

"For those people listening who are not familiar with the film that you and Ann are making, tell us what is this film because you've been on the show, but not everybody listens to the show every day. My son hunter is the film. It's about Hunter Biden's dodgy dealings. I say it's part Austin Powers, parts on the carrier part House of Cards. It's about Hunter Biden's dodgy dealings. It's about Joe Biden's dodgy dealings. It's an absurdist romp through Hunter Biden's drug adult past and possibly present. And it's true. It's true. I mean, the best source of a lot of it is hunker Biden's autobiography, where he talks about, I mean, this is a guy who says, I had to leave the board meeting of burisma every 20 minutes to take a crack hit, you know, to get some crack in my system. This guy was getting paid $83,000 a month by burisma for four years. He was paid millions of dollars. He was part of a $1.2 billion fund. By the Chinese government, he was getting money from the former mayor of Moscow's ex-wife, 3.5 million, he was money was just flowing in from these foreign sources, and he has emails. Joe Biden is called in for 10%. Joe Biden has come in for 50%. These are facts. So anyway, but that's the fact. Not anyway. I want to be very clear. So in case anybody's driving in their half listening, this is true and fail them an Ann a journalist and they're making a film about this. A movie. Whatever the difference is. Filming a movie. Stop it. This is what happens to me like I always put into the room. But my question is, you're making, you're making a movie. Okay, but the point is it's true. And it's about the biggest story there is. We're talking about corruption. In The White House, corruption at the highest level with our foreign enemies. Everyone ought to be clamoring to cover this and as we know, it's crickets. That's how you know we're living in truly mad times.

Federal Investigation of Hunter Biden Heats Up

"So you have The Washington Post coming out saying the laptop is true. Miranda divine to her great credit led with the story with the article laptop from hell. The New York Post published it and they lost their Twitter account for even talking about it. And now you're starting to see in mainstream regime media pretty extensive coverage about a an indictment that might be looming because of a very serious and real federal investigation against Hunter Biden. This is CNN play cut 42. Well, Brianna, this is a very real, very substantial investigation of potentially serious federal crimes. We are seeing federal prosecutors in Delaware. Do exactly what you would expect to see federal prosecutors doing this situation. They're talking to witnesses, they're bringing people into the grand jury. They're issuing subpoenas. And I would expect, as Evan reported, they're now gaining steam and they need to make a decision, I think, in the at least intermediate future. In this case has been going on for four years and there is a realistic chance this could result in federal charges. Of course, then we be in unprecedented political territory, not legal territory, but a situation of having potentially the Justice Department prosecuting and trying to imprison the son of the president. And look, it's not like Hunter Biden is being investigated for doing something completely unrelated from his father. It's not like they're investigating Hunter Biden for not paying taxes because he's a sports star for the Lakers or for the New York rangers. Now this is because a business dealings he was doing with his father for his father and because his father who was who he was. The federalist dot com kind of summarizes some of truck grassley's findings, as chuck grassley and Ron Johnson have been on the story for years now and smeared at every single turn by the activist media but turns out they were totally right and completely on the Mark. Meanwhile, the activist press was not, according to the documents obtained by the senators, energy company CEFC, and an official arm of the Chinese government paid, Hunter Biden $100,000 cash further credit to a wasco, hunter's firm. There's no middle man in this transaction. This is a $100,000 wire transfer from what is effectively an arm of the Chinese government directly to Hunter

"This morning about China's reaction to this. We've got maybe about a minute and a half here, Josh. Tell us a little bit about what you're seeing out of China as well. And what it means, what it doesn't mean, maybe, for what Vladimir Putin is doing. Right. Well, the Chinese government's reaction has been all over the map to be clear. There are four Ukraine sovereignty, but there are four Russia's grievances and they're also for diplomacy, but they're also supporting the idea of the invasion. So it doesn't make any sense on its face. So that's where Chinese foreign policy is right now. It's essentially a set of lies and strong men. And I don't say that lightly. If they want to have a foreign policy that's based on sovereignty and territorial integrity, then they would stand up to an invasion of Ukraine. And they're not doing it. And when they look at Taiwan, they don't see Ukraine because they don't think of Taiwan as another country. They think of it as their territory, but it's not exact parallel. So this is torn the Chinese up in knots. They don't really know what to do, but in their flailing what we've learned is that what they say is not what they mean. And that in the end, all of their principles will fold when they're put to a choice between supporting their thuggish ally Vladimir Putin, which is essentially where they've fallen down. "I'm back with author Peter Schweitzer, the new bestseller, red handed, how American elites get rich helping China win. Peter, one thing that struck me about the book is, you know, you have people who might habitually say, well, listen, you know, China has moved from a socialist to a capitalist economy. True, it's a state directed capitalism, but it's capitalism all the same. What's the big deal of doing commerce with China? But you're not talking about mere trade back and forth and which is in which the normal rules of comparative advantage apply, it seems to me you're talking about the Chinese government having a long-standing policy of corrupting politicians by sweetening their pockets in the hope and expectation that these politicians will then do the bidding of China. Isn't that the core argument you're making here? Yeah, no, I think this is a vitally important point for people to understand. China's not a Marxist Leninist system. It's a Leninist system. So yeah, you have capitalism, but it's state directed capitalism. And what we're talking about here is not, you know, wanting to import potato chips or export potato chips to China. What we're talking about here is getting access to critical Chinese industries, being able to invest in certain companies and certain industries that are restricted and sweetheart deals where it's really not at all merit based. It's not based on some competition. It's based on the Chinese government deciding to enrich a politician and their

Pelosi Urges Olympic Athletes Against Angering the Chinese Government

"Nancy Pelosi has some comments here about the Olympics. Now, I don't defend Nancy Pelosi. But I think that it's actually a little bit unfair to attack her for what she said here. Minorly unfair. I think some of the criticisms towards Pelosi here have not been totally wise and I'm gonna tell you why. Okay, so Nancy Pelosi tells U.S. athletes not to speak out against the Chinese communist regime, lest they risk incurring the anger of the Chinese government. Now, she's being called a shill in the pup of the Chinese Communist Party. That's right, but I'll be very honest with you. If I was sending athletes to China, I'd be telling them the exact same thing. Unless you want them to end up as hostages like LaMelo Ball was. You gotta tell them what they're getting in for. I'm not a fan of trying. I think China is an existential enemy. So play cut 79. I would say to athletes, you're there to compete, do not risk, incurring the anger of the Chinese government, because they are ruthless. I know there is a temptation on the part of some to speak out while they are there. I respect that, but I also worry about what the Chinese government might do to their reputations to them families. Now, here's the way it should be done. Okay? First of all, why Pelosi's commenting on this? I don't get that. Is Biden should say, listen. I have given every athlete from America a green light to speak as you choose China, you lay a hand on them, you got a problem. 200% tariffs. China's now a free speech zone. Welcome to the party. That has to come from the president, not from Pelosi, I'm saying if I was just like a House of Representatives and I were like Pelosi, she's actually not wrong. That's not the point. The point is that Trump or Biden whoever was president should say, okay, we're going to go compete in your COVID zero games, you lay a hand on an American, you are not getting a product into America for a year. What about our reputation, John, when the Speaker of the House says that? Well, this is the problem. This was never about we're not doing a genocide. Of course we know we're doing a genocide. The whole scam here is nobody can look us in the eye and attack us for that. And what Pelosi just oh, we can't say anything to the Chinese because they're big and mad and scary. That's empowering and that's in terms of strategic risk. That's the biggest problem with the game. We're telling the Chinese, there's no accountability for bullying everybody else. And the one thing I would really point to is the shameless smug reporting of NBC, which pretends to say, oh, we are going to address these issues head on. And they'll say, China genocide. And then they'll say, oh yeah, but the Chinese say they're not having a genocide. How could there be two sides to a genocide story? And on so many of these issues where they say, well, the critics say this and then they say, and the Chinese deny that, but many of these issues are things that are not, he said she said there is undeniable factual evidence that the Chinese are

"And what about the downside of civil rights with this model? We've seen examples such as hydrological departments, where large scale hydropower dams are put in place without fully consulting various communities whose lives are affected, and when these projects go ahead, they not only have very substantial human costs. In fact, they turn out to have very significant environmental damages over the long run as well. China is the biggest emitter of greenhouse gasses in the world. They also have one of the most ambitious plans. Ago. Carbon neutral in the world, aiming to reach net zero emissions. As as I said by 2060, How do you think the government ultimately plans to get there? Will the policy continue to revolve around a government that remains insular? There seems to be a very strong emphasis that China will continue to develop its carbon cap in trade mechanism domestically that is a warring sign. Chinese government, essentially his granted itself or well grant itself sweeping power in determining who will have these allowable emission credits that's assigned to them. Every business that there is will have some sort of a carbon footprint. I just don't know what kind of allocation mechanism will be the most equitable one, and if that mechanism is completely dictated By the Chinese government. There will be some Maurin consequences down the road, whether we like it or not, will the rest of the world and the years going forward be essentially following in China's environmental footsteps its policy simply by virtue of the massive scale China presents a lot of the things that China has been doing are indeed Environmentally beneficial, at least in dish work term, But I don't think we're in a position to make environmental gains by paying social and cultural.

"More of an impact in arctic regions. But what happens in Arctic areas doesn't just stay there. That's because melting at the polls leads to higher sea levels everywhere. China may be the biggest greenhouse gas emitter in the world. The U. S is still the largest on a per capita basis. But China is also the forefront of renewable energy innovation and also has some of the world's largest conservation projects. Beijing is trying to get to net zero carbon emissions by the year 2060. That means contributing no additional greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere. You've alias, studying just how China could get there. He's an environmental researcher at New York University, Shanghai and the author of the recent book China Goes Green. If in your book you Talk about China's ambitious goals envision an ecological civilization. How would you describe what's at the heart of the Chinese government's vision and goals for 2060? The Chinese government is seeing and using this term ecological civilization as a national strategy, and and they're doing this to really describe the Chinese Communist Party. As an actor that tries to restore China back to its former glory. So the official history that a Communist Party has been teaching its people and has been paddling in official history. Ah, graffiti is that China had a glorious past, and it's not just any kind of glory, not just any kind of civilization, a leader The Chinese Communist Party sees itself is building a uniquely ecological kind of civilization. A leadership for the world ecological civilization does sound like a noble goal. But you also described China's green ambitions as coercive environmentalism. Explain that The idea being that if the goal of environmental protection is noble enough, an important enough, and perhaps we can use that gold to justify the means of authoritarianism. In other words, using authoritarians approaches to accomplish environmental protection goes What the Chinese government seems to be doing systematically at home and overseas is using environmental protection to accomplish authoritarians ends right. Well in your book to get specific, Geetha you describe how the Chinese government has used the pretense. Of environmentalism to exert control over communities. Give us some examples of that. Very much. So we're seeing the Chinese government using, for example, facial recognition technologies to control how citizens sort their garbage and recycle under the pretense of a national park initiative or conservation program. They are systematically relocating ethnic minority groups to create new national parks on what China cost the belt and road initiative. The Chinese government is pursuing a lot of government to government deals once again in the name of environmental protection, But these projects turned out to be categorically insensitive. Dissenting voices received the Chinese government using environmental protection as a reason to intensify trade manipulation. So does this model work either and service to the environment or to human or civil rights? Success of China's brand of state led environmentalism doesn't depend on a strong state, and in fact, the success depends on mechanisms that place Chinese state power in check. We see successful moments of Chinese coercive environmentalism when the state is open. To public inputs from all sorts of non state channels. To give you an example, the Chinese government developed to this interesting app, which everybody can download that's called black and smelly waters. Now through this app, the local authorities are getting inputs from the public. When they see a polluted body of water. They snap a picture and send them to the government through this app. In the government, then send their inspectors. What really can help the Chinese government achieved long term in from you know success is opening up the Chinese state to input from various walks of the society..

"As we're getting closer to some very important data for the month of November. Some of that December numbers industrial production, probably the most important And will We'll see how that goes, and we'll give you that market wrap up. China's economy and activity accelerating the month of November. That, of course, is according to the communist regime of China. And of course, it's the communist regime of China. China there would have no reason to lie right. Well, apparently, a lot of people believe they would have no reason to lie. I find the numbers a little bit ridiculous, but nonetheless, I'm alone Wolf in that, so I would suspect that I'm wrong and everybody else's right. Since I'm the only one seeming to cry out how ridiculous this is that we look at the Chinese government and believe that these numbers are accurate. First of all, one of the things they talked about is manufacturing industrial production. Here's the problem with that. The problem is very simple. Every economy pretty much in the world is in deep, deep trouble on the verge of recession. Unemployment globally is extremely high. There aren't a lot of consumers buying a lot of things. For their industrial manufacturing production to be high in maybe, but that means that the other thing that is high would be the number of shipping containers that are stacking up on their ports because it's hard to believe that a country that is.

I never went to had gone to, like, maybe an event. There is something I think it's a Lutheran church. Doesn't matter. What matters is that there was a line like a half a mile long for people trying to get in the church. And I look to try to figure out my car. They doing coronavirus testing. What are they doing? Oh, no, it's a food bank. And the line was backed up for blocks. And I thought to myself how sad In when? A year ago At this time, we had record low unemployment with all of these people are back at work, and now we have food lines. So that people can survive for a week. Thank the Chinese government Well, and also, I'd say the in activity of Congress to get a deal done. My God starts with the Chinese and then goes down, I think And yeah, you're right, this certain really accountable, But what's going on here? And why are the government's making it harder for people to operate and not easier for people to operate? You know hell they're doing what they're supposed to be doing is helping not getting in the way. Making things happened. That's where they're taxing certain businesses because this time they're taxing businesses when they're closing down, small businesses and people are just leaving the state. Left and right there offering these these rules. Yeah, I need to be a wave of change in California. For sure. I noticed that Arizona of looking around those looking at a map of the country for the sort of urban flow of coronavirus cases. And seeing what we know what? We don't know what people are doing. Even though they know they don't do what they know is the way that takes the problem. Simple mask wearing limiting gatherings all of that stuff. Arizona has set a pretty good example. Right. This guy Doug Ducey, who's the governor, Um, closing bars and movie theaters and all of that stuff. And that seemed to change the course of history. At least this past summer in Arizona, and now their numbers have gone way. Way down. Then, of course, things open up again. The numbers go up up up. So you don't be fooled by the numbers, I guess would be my charge to you. There is a lot of stuff from Well known epidemiologist, something Johns Hopkins says. crazy with what's going on in China you know there was a big push made by the Chinese government to put in the media that they they built this one thousand bed a corona virus hospital in in less than ten days turns out the whole thing was fake oh my gosh yeah no it was it would be a buzzfeed's absolutely destroyed it wasn't that they they took pictures of apartment complexes what not from different parts of China and cut and pasted together is absolutely fake so we get in shooting out it's affecting economy speaking the economy Steve Moore our chief economist god zero co author of the trump tax plan joining us right now fellow university of Illinois alone how are you Steve Brad I'm doing great and by the way I you know I'm not I'm no longer for Donald Trump I I'm I'm feeling the burn baby I'm get me I'm very all the way all the way well you and the rest of the Democrats there's a bunch of them that are going for him I tell you what to and we could be nothing but great for president trump to run against well you know it's funny I've been thinking a lot about this I mean I think you know bring it up let's let's have a real debate in this country about two diametrically opposite couch do we go with socialism slash communism or do we go with the free enterprise system and let the American people decide let's not but yeah big old white color differences between these two parties sell and you know what I appeared that I kind of admire Bernie Sanders because at least he's being honest about what he wants to do it's called American Eagle we're gonna socialized medicine government can take over the healthcare system we're gonna have a lot you know that the government's going to get rid of every day an old form of energy we have that works on the counter and other we use when it's all of our gonna give all this free stuff for people and you're gonna be able to forgive your student loans and and a lot of people decide what do you think I think you're absolutely right and that's what we need in this country the problem is the Democrats have wanted this all along they're not brave enough to say it in public this what they've been trying to do for many years Bernie Sanders as you mention he has been strongly saying this since twenty fifteen when he ran for president the first time I got screwed out of it by Hillary Clinton and he's got a lot of supporters out there he's got a good still has a great grassroots grassroots movement out there all the same yeah it's amazing but it's very sad to me I mean when you're is if you know I saw this poll the other day something like seventy percent of Democrats would go for socialism yeah that's me I mean what is wrong with our education system in this country that these kids you have to spend a hundred thousand dollars educating these kids in the end young people it's where the name thank socialism is superior to the goose that laid back bags which is our free enterprise system I'm even more surprised about there in the bay area where you guys out where the you know it seems like you know that's only three rational people I know and all bay area right there in the you and Katie and sure you know what you know very well you have so much on you know entrepreneurship and innovation and incredible technologies trillion dollar companies and you know eighty percent of people seem like they like socialism I don't I just don't get it I you know they haven't been taught in school about it obviously we're joined by Steve Moore chief economist these epic writer heritage foundation co author the Chad from tax plan you're right Steve I I don't get it either when you're talking about a maybe these people just have so much money they they don't care about it and I I you know economically I I can't understand that because you have to know you know the steeple are you know my my plan right which is that the and the young person who wants to vote for socialism thinks we need more but we send them a one way ticket to Caracas Venezuela and that they can find you know two weeks or a semester there and then they can come back and tell us what they think about I mean because it's so interesting to me proud every time I give talks on college campuses and I talk a lot about socialism versus you know capitalism it and the ones that people come up to me after my talks tend to be the students who were born somewhere else outside the United States people born in Hungary or Poland or Cuba or Venezuela or you know some of these you know western socialist countries at and they say you know I love it Poland I left Cuba or left East Germany because I wanted freedom and now I come to the United States and all these crazy Americans want you know the government takes take over the healthcare system or the dead this is about you know and and they don't understand that because Americans sometimes we don't appreciate how important the freedoms we have why would we want to give more power to the government to do anything everything exactly right we want to write absolutely I look out the the Democrats can't even run a crock caucus properly in Iowa you know that you know what I'm going to get one run a website they can't run a copy of the check out books and even the people gonna run our healthcare system the government you know you look back the obamacare website typical example like you were talking about cost billions of dollars and they couldn't get it to work just seventh grader could set up a better way yeah so put that together and add optimistic melt the nrcan people in twenty twenty and November are going to be Jack socialism trump is going to win with wide margin it's will be like George McGovern versus you know in nineteen seventy two add that people are gonna say and and then the Democrats have to throw the socialists but Bernie Sanders may C. A.'s the most people over the side and get back to you know being somewhat rational about the economy let's have a real debate about how we rebuild you know continue rebuild our economy not utterly destroy it so I I think I have my faith in the American people I even think you know what I'm gonna go out on a lot I think Donald Trump is doing California yeah a brand do write your answering everybody was very shy and although it comes to worry we got to go out and make it happen we absolutely do Steve Moore and hopefully we'll be hearing more about to president trump's campaign plans for twenty twenty if he's got any new tax cuts he wants to throw in there will certainly go for that most definitely what what is this great more more more more more jobs and I told them you know stop remotely subject because we don't have enough workers to fill all the job but you know what Steve no matter what you say I've never got tired of winning yeah yeah all right now and my friend have a great weekend Steve Moore are economist sees the co author trump's tax plans always there and see more jokes with this says you know it you're gonna get tired of winning at some point but I think you look around the room you look around with the basket a deplorable as you look at the cast of all family none of us have ever gotten tired of winning nor we gonna get tired of winning and president trump's second term when we all elect him back in a minute when it comes in November stock radio five sixty KSFO according to the Los Angeles Times editorial board all the evidence points to one conclusion it is too late fox we humans dragged our feet for too long global warming is here and it's impossible to undo we're doomed as a result we're going to face more extreme heat longer droughts more ferocious hurricanes and other horrible climate events that will threaten the global food supply and more migrants as people are forced to leave their scorched earth homes in order to survive in our scorched earth homes not a cold with all of this horror we humans well we're going to.

"Chinese government's trying containing a move to stock at the end of the Chinese lunar new year festival this is important because today you should have been the day when we call for billion people with you to effectively criss cross the country again and go back to work that's of course presents the opportunity the not mess in our effort not to chat just so to speak in the spread of this virus servicing the government ordered provincial governments to stock at the end of the holiday stock of the return of these tens and tens of millions of people in an effort to try and further contain it robin brands on the spread of the coronavirus in China massively given the dominance of the story globally I think it's an overreaction it considering the risks how people what people say in a city well yes I mean I I don't know this yet it once down play the sort of actual objective of implications of of all this but but but maybe a couple of of reflections I mean you know the the first is really the sort of difference between the actual objective risk arms the broader question which I think is really behind much of the the height slash almost exterior around this out which is really driven by uncertainty and uncertainty more than risk is is really walls fuels fear I see here in this city some of the reactions I mean I don't know what the situation is like in the U. K. the are really not thought to similar to the kinds of attitudes that one so does he knows a racist attitudes that one sees on the issue of migration I mean if they have been Chinese students include school that have been of sort of forced into quarantine are there a Chinese tourists that have been insulted on the streets there were people that refused to go to Chinese restaurants were brought in Asian restaurants even if the authorities even if the government actually says there is absolutely no risk involved so this isn't a broader hysteria the office he has nothing to do with the objective risks another hiss and is as the not that dissimilar from you know sort of attitudes that one house of of closure on on issues such as migration to think that sort of thing could happen in this country George I should think so yes other than we've seen very much but we kind of two confirmed cases of the disease in this country yeah we were talking earlier about wasn't open country the U. K. is and I think the health authorities here trying to trace four hundred ninety people who travel from from have a province into the U. K. and speaking someone who's an epidemiologist at the weekend you said that the assumption in the case of the disease will spread wide into the British population is a matter of time and they're they're ready for it and I think not many people saying that publicly SLT the not at the moment but I think that thought is this certainly the assumption that working to in the in the health service here and it will have a economic effect globally we sold the M. pool she was down one percent from Friday's results people concerned about the impact this will have on global trade and of course this is not he was saying that they will be the sort of this sort of they'll be racial undertones this for short there was one French newspaper last week which was talking about a yellow yellow peril and all this other stuff and quite unpleasant so things and so yeah I think this is this is an issue which I think hasn't by any means peaks and I think most of Europe will be preparing for the worst thank you Iran is a country that it's hard to cover for journalists on the ground because the government doesn't much like letting foreign reporters in when it does they need a strict visa which usually only lasts for a week while reporters are that that strictly shadowed by the authorities but Nicholas Pelham who's the Middle East correspondent for the economist magazine had the luxury of spending seven weeks in Iran only it wasn't quite luxury he managed it by getting arrested and although he was released after a few days he still wasn't allowed to leave the country he's been telling me about his unusual experiences that it sounds a bit of a cliche but I think I would use the words liberation in captivity that is a genuine the tension in captivity for the first three days or so I was stopped from traveling this house having out to the apple and told her that this could be under investigation for up to forty eight hours a Muslim for was to end the call for us to the apple X. where I was interrogated and then plan fills put on me has taken to a detention center and I hope that for about a day and after that put in a safe house for another two to three days and then remarks being told that Mike conditions are going to be upgraded as can be put into a hotel and I was free to roam around the city but would have to be available for questioning my studies of the started this he must've thought goodness this is really bad it's a strange sensation everything happens so quickly and in itself no individual instant it's not allow me why do you think the government in Tehran decided to detain you it's a good question that's the question we're asking at that thing that's been that much accountability it's hard to know your father what is going on in the system which itself seems quite internally divided over to finance a government that was saying different things the context probably is important this is at a time of heightened tensions between and their own person that sees an old tank Iran then sees a little time because of it so you and I may have been caught up in that sort of pass struggle between the two countries but nobody ever it explained why I was being held back and your liberation in captivity is I think you cold it meant that you could go round the capital devouring cultural life is certainly strange as a journalist when you go in on the press using your sorry heavily control if you have a mind of its core translate that you pay quite heavily for that with you at that interview state have it set up for a free flow of conversation people are very good about it about what they say and then having be detained and left to roam around the city so the pretty much unfettered this is not a kind of control I got a completely different impression of the city where can people remarkably fine and offices are in place and it's a place that tries a concert or mental must as many can place on every night and terror on this there are in the west and so it's it's throbbing with music and arts and the sculpture parks it's a very colorful place and you found lots of plays sets rather provocatively in prisons if found opera performances and all praise to blue that build this Kurdish folk music there with the with the wind surf conventions when some of the metaphors for men not hugely south of one of the way around with little boys round of kind of trying to comment on content for life for their on this to set plays and personal fortune of lost on the current authorities but either in the Shah's time there was a remarkable show called the water which is seven the person under the shot that I saw a performance of waiting for Godot which is set in the person of the country to step on a hundred years ago open to performance of the of the sound of music which was pretty faithful to the original but there are multiple kind of rotating station a full orchestra but with a twist at the end for instead of the phone drop family fleeing into the hills and escaping oppression and celebrating the freedom the finale isn't she given to the chorus of the nuns who symbolize the religious authorities for Hitler youth which in some ways symbolizing the minister of targets they had the loss was and it was a fun trip found me the came on stage with the looking to track old backs to the audience with the suitcases they're the ones who are fleeing in the finale was famous artists out the last words and they would fix this and finally in a phrase on are you more or less fond of Iran following your detainment by the government to this is not the summer that I mentioned I felt it was a perfect so I had so much time in Iran it was nerve wracking from I found there was no fracking for colleagues but time there's a kind of summer anguish for them but I sort of decided to run the I could never have trump to saying I went to a wedding silent parties it was a over eighty five print place among which is sort throbbing with life and desperate to reconnect with the world Nicholas pela Middle East correspondent for the economist magazine with some fascinating insights into daily life in the Iranian capital Tehran but what a contrast George Parker when you when you think of him touring the theaters of Tehran with that NASA needs a gari Radcliffe in prison not getting the medication she needs the the huge on row with between governments on on a norm release yeah I think Iran is one of those countries where it's such a binary country that people have a very difficult job trying to get their heads around and you said the other side of it and we we in the west generally hear about you know cases like when you've just mentioned nice memes Gary reckless and her imprisonment you know you see you have an impression of a city sauce and a country still very much in the grip of the revolutionary fervor this and it revolution and yet another side of the city in the country that we never hear about ready the ideal is this this flourishing not seen there's subversive stuff going on that and that's aside and mother was a fascinating inside of Iran that we never hear about what did you make of the interview Nestle he thought he was the interview in and then the piece that necklace pro twelve were absolutely fascinating and it also made me reflect about the fact that he was so cool toppled committee is he himself said in an escalade tree dynamic are that we're actually still in a sort of **** for tat whether it's a tank is being detained drones oil time because well facilities or indeed the political assassinations all this has a very clear origin in the clear origin is the US is violation of the Iran nuclear deal and Sunday the Europeans could be deal brokers potentially do you think well they could be all they could actually in this could be the tragedy they could actually be the ones that ultimately put the final nail in the coffin of the J. C. P. away because at the end of the day and let's see right near agreements yes indeed less is the Europeans themselves that actually live up to their own side of the of the agreements meaning delivering to Iran that legitimate trade that it was promised under the deal ultimately it will be and and this would be the power dogs the Iranians the up until now incredibly have not abandoned the deal complete the I mean they started fudging in the implementation which is only unfortunately reasonable given that there has been a violation on the US side up but there it is Senshi telling Europeans you know please do your best our arms and we're not you know we keep on talking in support of the deal but we right she done very little at to actually implement sets and it would be tragic if ultimately this which has been the greatest success of European diplomacy and a major success for nonproliferation medley security adult in that you sort of proving that multilateral diplomacy as opposed to war for instance actually can deliver concrete results would be tragic if we with the vons alternate fleet sort of marking the the the end of this agreement itself do you think George the the deal is doomed the deal that Donald Trump so firmly rejected I think the deal in its current shape probably is bartending that's the end of the story because user finds the hurt her helpers Johnson's response this whether whether you cave sits on this and is trying to bring the trump administration for trump ice the around you could jokes assigned by apama abortion say maybe we need a new trump deal I think the U. K. contracts with the US on board and re branded in some way but on the guest as in its entirety this is weekend from the BBC world service and pull Sarris joins us now with the latest sports news a twenty six minutes past the hour pull we'll start with football and the.
