Each lesson takes about 10 to 15 minutes and they're all really Different, which keeps things interesting. The APP is really smart. It actually keeps track of the words I'm struggling with so I can practice them and get better. I chose babble because it was created by Rhea language teachers. Mark Meadows Speaks with Reporters
"Today outside the White House chief of staff Mark Meadows spoke to reporters for a little over 10 minutes on issues, including the replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U. S. Supreme Court. The president said he needs nine Justice Supreme Court election challenge because he asked me of potential nominees how they will vote. No, he hasn't. Actually I've been in those interviews and I could tell you it would be inappropriate for us Ask those kinds of questions. I think his comments were more just an indication that we need a a full panel on the Supreme Court. You don't want to ever provide a a situation where there could be Tie a 44 ty not to suggest that this should be a 44 tie. I think it should be more of a unanimous decision on some of the facts that I have seen. But obviously I'm not a justice. They would have to hear That case would be highly inappropriate. We wouldn't want to ask a question that would perhaps for some potential nominee to recuse themselves. Should they have to hear this waste but with him out there, saying he needs to have this justice because there might be a challenge. That create bags of a conflict of interest for whoever you well, I know no more than any other judge that has been nominated by Donald Trump or Barack Obama or anybody else. I mean to suggest that just because they were nominated by somebody that they would have an inherent bias, I think we've seen from the court rulings already by the Supreme Court. They're an independent body, and they don't necessarily vote the way that you might think they should. I can tell you that That particular issue is eyes, Probably the least of potential nominees. Worries that it makes you effective profits were kind of expecting a second question. The president will have confidence. I can't speak to the second question in terms of the confidence in director Ray, I can tell you that I was Very, very disappointed to see some of the text messages and emails that came out yesterday. And some of the discovery that was put for from my previous job is a member of Congress. I know that I've asked for exactly those kinds of documents and never got them on that was under the previous director and also under this director on so it is time for direct array to quit in my mind playing footsie with transparency and Deliver those documents. The second part of your question was more that I think. Well, I think if past is prologue, I mean, we've got all kinds of indications that the Democrats are. We're going to use the next 30 days to try Tio shame. Whatever nominee we put four for their faith for their record for who they are, and Troubling. I mean, we've got it. We see even today that way don't have AH continuing resolution passed because Chuck Schumer is playing games with procedural aspect based on a potential nominee. We took down a election security hearing today because Chuck Schumer's playing games that's minor. That's that's child's play compared to what we will see over the next 30 days, But we're prepared for the fight. What we will see is, I think Be thorough Vetting but hopefully done in expeditious way way. I didn't say it was Judge Merrick Isa. Good leading question. You can say that the president's confidence in director, I haven't talked to him about it. Well, I can tell you that we have a number of people that continue to serve at the pleasure of the president that he has different degrees of confidence in on DSo Tio directly speak to that question. Without actually talking to him would be inappropriate about healthcare. Big announcement guys today the president wanted to executive orders now the U. S government policy that preexisting conditions should be protected. Forced the affordable care act right now is that five lost? What are Americans make policy of already existing protection? Well, Peter, you as you know, there's a court case going through as it relates to the affordable care act and what the president Wanted to make sure I was clear not once not twice. But now a third time in signing that executive order is to make sure that preexisting conditions are covered that insurance companies can price people out of their coverage just because of the illness that they have or could have come down with, And it was just a commitment and say that if the court strike that down any future legislation under a Trump administration would guarantee that preexisting conditions are covered. And so From his perspective, It's just trying to make sure that the message is clear. He's been very clear in the Oval Office, You know, Sometimes the campaign rhetoric in the ads that get place do not match the private conversations in the Oval. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows outside the White House earlier today. Scepticism of some because obviously the president president for four years, But they say that it's that they should be protected his only a policy. It's not along. We've never seen a plan. Peter, this is not your first rodeo. And you know how Congress has the inordinate and unbelievable ability to obstruct, especially when you have a divided Congress. I don't know of a single Democrat that would be willing to take down on Obama care piece of legislation haven't served in the car. It's almost like they're Holy grail. Now they'll admit there's all kinds of flaws and all kinds of problems with it that they won't fix, but they won't repeal it. And so it's all about making sure that the message to the American people gets covered. One of the interesting things that no one seems to be picking up on too much. Well, is the $200 copay that's actually is going it is coming from the savings from the executive order on most favored nation big farmer would push back on that. Pushback on that, But we're going to be able to save tens of billions of dollars were actually going to use a demo. Ah, demo for to be Medicaid CMS demo project that will actually allow us to use about $7 billion to pay for those. But those will be offset with savings from from Pharma as we enacted most favorite nation, money way have we have a 10 year? Window on that for those savings, and we're actually working on those final rules. Those proposed rules now to put forth But just like the Obama administration used the same program in the previous administration were going to use it now to make sure that seniors get the benefit of those savings today and that they don't have to wait for those you already prepping initial Supreme Court nominee for confirmation questions and Wilder wise guy sort of Urfa. Person around Capitol Hill with numbers on DSO in terms of prepping any particular nominee that we have. No, we have not started prepping those. We won't until the nomination is full on I see me mean by wise guy could be wise guy or a gal, a cz, a Sherpa, and so as we wait guys in a plural and generic sense I would have seen on so as we look at that. I don't know that we'll be using Sherpa as much we've been working with leader McConnell, in a very direct way of had daily conversations would leader McConnell a number of senators because of covert and the inability of senators to actually engage more on a office by office faces? We're looking at modifying that if there is a need for a Sherpa, we've actually have asked the leader for some recommendations. There were certainly open to that. But I think next week what you'll see Is Patsy polonium myself, making sure that we make the nominee available to a wide variety of senators. Political question. You aware that Amy Kony's merit worked on foot vs board and you know what was her role? Apparently, she was in Florida working for Stuart Levey. According to her question. Yeah, I I'm certainly aware of every nominees record, whether it's Amy Comey, Barrett or anybody else. I can't say I don't think that this is a hanging Chad problem. This's more a mail in ballot. Unsolicited mail in ballot with delays in collection of those ballot issue. Hopefully, we're not gonna have a hanging Chad problem when my last question was president, felling three of your quote, By the way, I think you owe guide okay. Yeah, that sounds like a good stand. Wise wise guys. Okay, campaign. Apparently, the RNC are telling Republican voters essentially that they need To vote absentee necessary. Isn't that sort of out of line with the president's message going to be male in front? And I mean, I think absentee ballots if they've got a normal process, perhaps auntie ballots like we had in North Carolina. I don't know that that process is one that is new or different. I can't speak to every state. All I can speak to is North Carolina, but but I can't. Say you that solicited ballads with absentee requests or certainly something that has been the norm eyes the unsolicited ballots mailing to ever registered voter that he has a bigger problem with and that most Americans should have a problem with that theory is she's been radio programming from Friday. Well, I don't know That's how I'm basing the acceptance. Of the election here is a valid point here is what we want to make. Sure of is that laws are not changed by a few judges making it like in North Carolina consent decree. Don't change the laws that are on the books just so that you can extend the election time. Most states, North Carolina and others have a very long time for them to be able to cast their ballots either in person or by mail leading up to November. 3rd s O to suggest that we should have November 3rd. It's a week plus two weeks like has been mentioned in some states is not. There is not something that I think is necessary. The other is is when you have secretaries of states in a partisan manner, potentially certifying election results. We want to make sure that they do this on on away that's credible and they can with stand the scrutiny of of the public eye on allow a partisan process to get in. I don't know if you're following what's happened. In North Carolina. But it's very troubling where you have a a Democrat group, filing suit against a Democrat, Board of elections and then doing a consent decree. That's not what the American judicial system is all about. It's in my opinion gaming the system. Hopefully, that judge will not go ahead with that consent decree but is very problematic and it disenfranchises voters whether they're Republican, unaffiliated or Democrat. We want to make sure every vote counts. But We want to make sure that on ly one vote count ceremony, I I'm I'm assuming that we were invited. I don't know about the best. You know the invite list. Obviously, yesterday we wanted to make sure before he left town. He paid respects and so way actually adjusted his schedule so that he could do that. Yesterday I travelled with him and, as you know, way made that a priority. Thanks, guys. White House Chief of staff Mark Meadows outside the White House this morning,
The Air Force Struggles With Diversity. Can The Space Force Do Any Better?
"The newest branch of the military just promoted its first female three star general. The US Space Force also recently appointed the nation's first all women space operations team. Top space force leaders say gender and racial diversity is a core part of the mission. But his Colorado public Radio's Dan Boyce reports, some female veterans are skeptical. First Lieutenant Kelly McKay serves with the all female Space Operation Squadron stationed at Schriever Air Force Base near Colorado Springs, The squadron command's one of the country's GPS satellites. I obviously never gotten work on all female crew for these were women that I've I wanted to work with their close friends of mine and co workers. Lieutenant McKay says an all female squadron makes a bold statement for the military's news branch. I'm hoping that women will see that they have more opportunities, and they might have realized growing up as long as they're actively seeking out the women to come there. They have a great opportunity to be the the service that leads the way Don Christensen is president of the nonprofit Protect Our Defenders. The group focuses on reducing discrimination in the military. The space force grew out of the Air Force last December, Christensen says It's continuing the airforce tradition of a better gender balance than the other branches. But he worries the space force could continue another worrisome course when it comes to racial disparity there force with worst in analyzing military data Person's sins team found black airman 70% more likely than their white peers to get court martialed or receive other punishments. I can't fix centuries of racism in our country, nor can I fixed decades, discrimination may have impacted members of our Air force. How much to make of these nominations depends on who you talk to. I'm not sure that you'll be able to restructure. I don't know. I just think they might continue get away with it. Unfortunately. Pacheco says As discrimination charges work their way up the chain of command senior officers often suppress reports to avoid looking bad themselves. Officer Carrie Baker says They've already placed heavy emphasis on developing open minded leaders and pushing them to learn about unconscious biases, even to the point where one should be careless enough to Speaks to their leadership about concerns that they have without concern of retribution. US Supreme Court: The possible nominees to fill vacancy
"Of you paid attention to who the possible nominees are. People are talking about Amy Kuney Barrett and Barbara Lago do you know but these judges and can you tell us anything about them? Sure I mean there. It's almost certain to be Amy Coney Barrett. Just because trump has generally deferred to actually others throughout his four years especially when it comes to the higher court, the Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court, and there's really a pretty big consensus around amy. Barrett, there some talk that like trump would be helped in Florida if he went the other way. But I'll be I'll be very shocked if it's not her now she is you know a a more or less. Predictable right wing jurist. I think her her confirmation. We'll have enormous effects just because I think it's clear. She's a reliable vote to overturn Roe v Wade where. Probably, in her absence, they would just continue cutting the meaning of that precedent down. You know because even as of today it's it's been made so hard to get an abortion in the south that weather would wanNA speak of. A meaningful federal right to abortion is already open to question in in many other areas. She'll just confirm that drift to the supreme, court in this liberal direction, which actually some of the Democrats on on the panel have have kind of colluded and in taking it toward in recent decades. So the addition of one person is rarely like catalytic or transformative. Maybe on this one issue of abortion, it would actually lead five of the justices without chief justice, Roberts to overturn Roe v Wade, which might not happen otherwise and I'm not suggesting that's not a big deal. It is, but probably in most other areas of law, it would just be like the same more of the same except more. So so so what are the different ways that you see this playing out Let's say this happened than Biden is elected He then gets to replace I assume the next soon to retire Justice Briar I believe, right? I mean. We. Assume that Clarence Thomas would try to outlast Joe Biden in the same way that Ruth Ginsburg tried to outlast Donald. Anything could happen right and you happen and of course, we should probably talk about interesting relationship between Biden and Clarence Thomas. How much of a? Let's go there. How much did Biden in neighb- ball Clarence Thomas is Supreme Court. Or empower him as a sitting Supreme Court justice while he was instrumental as as the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, I mean you know we can get personal. But in we've all seen, you know whatever the you know the Netflix's reenactment of this level. But you know the truth is that Biden you know maybe like all of us only more so again has been a prisoner of his time all the way along and at that moment The He he responded you know as part of the like con, the comedy of the Senate required. You know he hung out with these other white men and they decided that this wasn't a big enough deal and there was deference even in a democratically controlled Senate to the you know right of the president to nominate a supreme. Court justice when a seat is vacant we've totally given up those those norm sense really as a country, but you know within the Senate to. Huang's Law, the New Moore's Law?
"It got all lost in the scramble of other news but remember invidia bought arm and that's a pretty big deal. So to pieces about that, I let me introduce you to. Some, people see as the new Moore's law and it might explain why Invidia is doing what it's doing quoting Chris Mims in the Wall Street Journal who I believe has actually coined the term quote as chipmakers have reached the limits of atomic scale circuitry and the physics of electrons Moore's law has slowed and some say it's over but a different law potentially, no less consequential computing's next half century has arisen. I call it wings law after INVIDIA Chief Executive and Co founder Jensen Wang it describes how the silicon chips that power artificial intelligence more than double in performance. Every two years while the increase can be attributed to both hardware and software it. Steady progress makes it a unique enabler of everything from autonomous cars, trucks, and ships to the face voice and recognition in our personal gadgets between November twenty twelve and may performance of nvidia chips increased three hundred and seventeen times for an important class of a calculation says Bill Daley chief scientists and Senior Vice President of research at Nvidia on average in other words, the performance of these chips more than doubled every year a rate of progress that makes Moore's law pale in comparison and quote. And then also from the Journal, a portrait of Jensen Wang and his founding and stewardship of Invidia as the company has. Just exploded in all sorts of ways. In videos market value has soared to three hundred and nineteen point, eight billion dollars surpassing Intel's valuation of two hundred and fourteen point five, billion dollars even though INVIDIA had ten point nine, two, billion in annual sales in its latest fiscal year compared with seventy one, point nine, seven, billion for Intel. Videos bet on some of the hottest fields, INTECH video gaming and artificial intelligence have fueled investor enthusiasm. While Intel has stumbled with some of its most advanced chips, it's all a long way from nineteen ninety-three when Mr Huang. Dreamed up in video on his thirtieth birthday at a Denny's in San Jose California with two like minded engineers they bet on a future where consumers demanded better computer graphics, which would require specialized high performance hardware that wasn't available at the time and
President Trump again refuses to commit to peaceful transition if he loses
"Unanimously passed an extraordinary resolution yesterday. yesterday. It's It's a a direct direct response response to to the the president's president's refusal refusal to to rip rip To To promise promise a a peaceful peaceful transition transition of of power. power. If If he he loses loses the the election, election, the the resolution resolution reads. reads. There There should should be be no disruptions by the president or any person in power to overturn the will of the people of the United States. Meantime, President Trump is making other news planning to announce his third Supreme Court nominee tomorrow. We talked all about it with Bob Cusack, editor in chief of the Hill, who started with the response to President Trump's comments. Lawmakers on both sides how were troubled by the president's remarks, which had been Really consistent over the last several months that he's gonna have to wait and see to see what the election brings. So this was a real push back, especially from Republicans and also on important sign that if Republicans who really generally speaking have not pushed back at the president that much if they think he has lost the election, you're going to see leading Republicans saying He's lost the election, and he needs to need to leave in a peaceful way. That's an important sign from Republicans who have again shied away from criticizing their president. But Bob is this resolution. The forceful enough is it is close A CZ. Many Republicans are going to get Tau openly contradicting or criticizing the president. I think so, At least for now. We're gonna have to see what the election day slash week will bring and how close it is and certainly, But But the mood on Capitol Hill is that Republicans and Democrats, we had so much unrest in this country with the pandemic and and racial unrest. They want the election to go smoothly as possible. And of course, it's not going to go that smoothly because some states are going to be counting for for several days because so many people are failing in their balance, now

White House chief of staff contradicts FBI director on voter fraud
"Mark Meadows is criticizing FBI director Christopher Wray over his testimony to Congress that he has not seen evidence of widespread voter fraud in a major election, with all due Specter, Director Ray he has a hard time finding emails in his own FBI let alone of figuring out whether there's any kind of voter fraud. This is a very different case. The rules are being changed, and so what? What I'm suggesting is perhaps he could drill down on the investigation that just started Meadow, speaking on CBS this morning, pointing to North Carolina and other places where he says duplicate ballots are being sent out. Rays testimony when against President Trump's message that an expansion Of mail in voting would invite widespread fraud in the election Experts say there is no evidence of meaningful voter fraud in mail in voting for two days in a row. The president has also refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power should he lose in November, Meadow says the president will commit as long as the election is fair.
Airbus' Ambitious Hydrogen Plans
"I'm happy to welcome with me on the program senior editor, Guy Norris and tier to our France Bureau chief who as you surely know if you read ideation? Gregory is an expert in aerospace technology subjects to. This week, we are going to talk about three aircraft concepts that Abbas presented for the first time. They are very different from each other in many ways, but they do have one thing in common they are supposed to be powered by hydrogen. And Abbas Vision in the transformation of aviation into a greener more sustainable, future exciting ideas but lots of questions too. So let's take a step back I wonder if I can ask you to just walk us through the plans that Abbas. Presented this week. Sure So basically, there are three concept plaints. At the center of the city they called him supplies because none of them will actually be built but three directions that are going to be studied in depth. One of them is looks like turboprop aircraft to wing configuration. I think the maximum. Capacity would be around one hundred passengers. The other one. Sorry. The first one, I mentioned a because it would burn hydrogen in relatively conventional outside rented conventional. Engine turbines. The second concept plane is also conventional Tuban Wing country duration from be powered by two defense number props to defense money hydrogen. Again, capacity is between one, hundred, twenty, two, hundred passengers, and just like the first concept plane the shooting hydrogen attack is located at the rear of the fuselage and the third concept is definitely the most spectacular. It's a blended wing but. Again powered by defense. So often concepts contemplates both hundred ten. Engines but the big difference, the May feature of the sudden is the blend buddy consideration, which means you can much more optimize hide myrow dynamics, and you can also dispute passengers and fuel tanks. I, know much more efficient way in the in. So. Roughly speaking this, all three concepts that are is. Speaking about so we're we're kind of fifteen years right I mean they're talking about enter enter into service in twenty thirty five but already, they're making some very important technology choices you mentioned liquid hydrogen for instance can just walk Ciragan. You know what are the steps that are coming up in between now and twenty, thirty five so between now one, twenty, thirty, five, the and again, twenty thirty five is the plant date for entry to service our first main Maislin if she wishes twenty twenty-five by then they expect to have majored some technology bricks as they. Call them to choose from and they would launch a program in twenty, twenty, seven or twenty, twenty eight. So that would be a food program for the Industrial Program between or twenty degrees and would would be very, very informative for us to follow is the next five years they plan to do several demonstrations. So they will demonstrate that technology bricks such as hydrogen storage, for example, and one of the most demonstration projects is about hydrogen storage and distribution they were stopped on the ground, but they also plan some instructional on the sorry in the era in. which could be quite a spectacular and they plan quite. Surprised by this, they plan to start with gaseous hydrogen storage demonstration before moving to liquid, and as they seem to have made a choice ready for liquid hydrogen meet surprised by the fact, they are going to also test guess. So Guy. Abbas. Seems to be really enthusiastic about this and it's kind of came out of nowhere but it came a bit of as a surprise to me. That's enthusiasm isn't really shared by everyone in an industry particularly in the engine industry they're still seem to be quite some serious reservations about this. So can you tell us what what what you're hearing? Yeah Hi there. It's basically a very is a very interesting time because, of course, the engine manufacturers like the fray manufactures they're all facing this kind of cliff of how do we meet the sustainability targets in really thirty years seems like a long time but but in the aerospace business, it's really not They've got. So they've they've been approaching this idea of whether to adopt the new transformational approach. Mostly based on alternative fuels, which would be dropping into the existing kind of infrastructure, the existing propulsion designs and the existing tube and wing configurations that the framers of loved and developed and perfected for the past fifty years all nor so you can imagine that there is a bit of a shock going on here to how do we suddenly move all of that towards a hydrogen based ecosystem. Of course, the other thing is that they've saying, well, you know we have been that before we've studied this, we started in the nineteen fifties, for example, more based for military type applications again, in the seventy s during the fuel crisis when they the first global fuel crisis and again in the nineties when there was the first glimmers of the emerging environmental issues this time of course, it's different as you both said, you know the there is a driving force has never been there before, and of course, the the French government tying the. Incentive. Package really to sustainability is the big decision making sort of driver on this. So you know the fact that. There's much more urgent need now is is changing the game, but doesn't change the fact that there is seventy years of history of safety and certification and development behind a no operational cycle around kerosene people know how to handle it. They know how to certify it, and this is a whole new ballgame. So why would you know bus get buy in from the other industry participants if that wasn't possible for one reason or another over the past? Several decades well I mean one of the thunder, the reasons that time does move on and technology has improved. They're all ways of coping now as a couple of ways to look at it. One is from a big picture perspective. The big challenge that a lot of them see both in and out of aerospace is the fact that they feed stalking. The actual production of hydrogen has to be done in a sustainable way to make this entire equation balance
White House chief of staff contradicts FBI director on voter fraud
"And from CBS this morning, White House chief of Staff Mark Meadows on FBI Director Christopher Wray, saying he has seen no evidence of widespread voter fraud. LSU faces unique challenges this season
"When you look at Lsu spots. I mean they've lost fifteen starters from lessees and Joe Borough first overall pick quarterback gone to March as their star wide out opted out he's gone the offensive and defensive coordinators are both gone having taken other jobs and just last week at ordure on said that most of the team had tested positive for covid and have apparently since recovered, not all herbal most of our players of it. So I think that hopefully, they don't catch it again and open enough a game. I just want to know when you watch Eddie order on on the sideline this season. Like what do you think you're gonna see what kind of Lsu experience are you going to get? It's going to be I think a rebuilding year that LSU'S GONNA be able to tolerate because one I. Don't think that they're going to backtrack entirely from a lot of the changes that made them. So successful last year Joe. quickfire chase has across the Middle Brits attack with the forty five baby gets to the far sideline twenty, fifty, ten high cut style taggers. College football is very in a lot of ways more scheme dependent. I think than even pro ball because everybody needs a relatively simple system that they can pick up pretty quickly and use interchangeable talent on. However this is my favorite thing when you go okay well, how many how much talent did they lose and I'm like, what did you see cloud Edwards the layer do for the chiefs he's reckon business town. Touchstone. Chance City what a night for the rookie clad layer upgrade. And you go. Oh, man where he was he was a Lsu and you go. Okay. Well, look the bengals almost one which is like a victory for any other team. And who was behind that? Well, Joe Borough as rookie turns out dude's pretty good for a time. Downfield Kat at the to by US. And he runs into the end zone for burroughs first NFL touchdown. You Go. Well that came from somewhere. Didn't it? Oh Yeah. It came from Lsu second be a step down. Yeah. It's absolutely going to be a step down. That is the best Lsu team that has ever played in Baton Rouge with their best quarterback and what I what I believe was their best running back and I don't think you're going to get anything close to that. However even if we come down a standard deviation, you still want me talking to nine or ten thirteen. You're just not going to get that kind of excelsior performance. You're just gonNA fall to like. acceptably excellent and probably lose to Alabama.

That's such a cool job isn't a chief of staff I wonder if you get your own luxury suite. To the chief. Tony. One the greatest of all time perhaps we're going to time it's a small group. I think of Ed Reed Ronnie Lott Mel Blunt Night, train lane rod, Woodson Toy, Paula Malu deaf, that's generally the group. The question is Ed Reed Ronnie Lott. I think there might to on the starting all-time defense you disagree with me. No not at all not happy anniversary Pete rose on this thirty five years ago rose broke ty COBB's all time record for hits with four thousand, one, hundred, ninety, two rows finished the forty, two, hundred, and fifty six, which is why. So many of his shirts of the words hit king embroidered on. "I Look I've stayed with Boston the whole way I'm going to stay with Boston. Now, I'm not going to be the slightest bit surprised if Toronto wins the only thing that's going to surprise me Mike honestly is if Kemba Walker gets five points again, he's all. It can't have terrible games in a row. I am sorta haunted by what Van Vliet said that they never should have let us back in and so my question is, can Boston get up off the mat because they have had to devastating losses having give back off the met they got a terrific team is going to be around Tony. If Danny Angel powers-that-be in Celtic Land, want them to be around and together we'll be watching him deep into the playoffs I like everything about the Boston Celtics. I disliked Toronto a little just like you I'm surprised to pick them gain. You can't go out and say, OH I. Knew. I Would Toronto is you know all season I picked him to win the east at the beginning of the playoffs. I'm not going to run away from that now. But who the hell knows this watch, the game gotta WanNa. See this game tonight. Next. Tony and Mike. You see Tom Brady the bucks upsetting droop reason the saints. So I want this to happen I want Brady to be great I want Tampa Bay to be great. All right and I think they have this benefit tonight might there's no better home field advantage than New Orleans. But if you have no fans in the dome that probably negates that having said all that is star studded roster. For Tampa, Bay has not played a single game together not even an. Exhibition game together they're walking into this cold and play against the Super Bowl contending team with the best wide receiver in all the football it in Michael Thomas. If this was week seven, I'd feel differently but a week one I see New Orleans, winning I i. just I was worried that you were seeing the game being played tonight, which is not going to be played tonight with scared me Nobel. Sunday. Res Tony Still Has Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara I mean he's got those weapons are as good as anything Tom Brady has no matter how much people are singing the praises I think is a slight homefield advantage not the big home field that his noise in that Dome I am going with drew brees and the saints and week one. And Mike Evans is also hurt and so that. Next that I really WANNA. Know you see Cam Newton cooking in week one? So Cam Newton was asked the other day will they are? With debut New England and here's this exact quote I don't get butterflies I give butterflies is Cam Newton healthy. This is the only question that's out there as Cam Newton healthy because you can talk to Shawn Watson and you can talk about, let me read these guys off Lamar Jackson Dak Prescott, they've never been to the Super Bowl Cam Newton's been to the Super Bowl. If Cam Newton is healthy I, expected me to the good I expect him to win. This game I expected to win the game, but the question is clicking. No not week one I don't think they don't have to because Bill Bella checks teams are going to rely on any one thing that they need to do to win. They'll have all sorts of stuff clicking in and maybe defensively, it could be special teams. It could be a running game that nobody's talking about camel get there. I. Think as you know, I've got bill belichick and CAM. Newton. Better. Breaking News, that's the I'm willing to make. He has a half. One, they'll win the game Tony against the Miami Dolphins who they own but. I don't think he clicks in week one. We're nearly out of premonitions,.

"Chiefs convincingly beating a playoff team the Houston Texans Houston led seven nothing. And then didn't score again until garbage time would seven minutes left in the game, the Texas without the Andrea Hopkins, who they traded away and the chiefs with their rookie running back out of lsu Clyde Edward Solaire, and all he did was gain one, hundred, thirty, eight yards rushing wilbon. What was more noticeable the absence of Hopkins or the addition of Edwards Hilar- The absence of Hopkins Tony. Houston Texas. You're talking about franchises seem to frequently outsmart themselves. They get rid of Hopkins, they ship them and I'm glad narrow Zona. We GonNA lineup play, opposite Larry. Fitzgerald. which could could really be something to watch. But in terms of Houston, what the Hell Are you doing? What are you doing you? You have people out there who allegedly run sub for fours and they still can't get open and to Shawn, Watson doesn't have a line still that can keep him upright. He is always trying to keep his. Head up and look down feeling not look at the rush, and then the pocket collapses because he doesn't have one. So the absence of an offensive line comes secondarily to the absence of Hopkins Tony I mean the Houston to I. Love Him I love this Watson. I can't root for the Houston Texas they I live one division like for the last five years I love Jj Watt. Just seemed like a dumps of an organization and a lot of ways. Yeah. Well, I think Bill O'Brien is both coach and general manager. So he can do what he wants I will I will go to your point for a second that David Johnson who used to be with Arizona and came over trade. Yeah, he. He had eleven rushes for seventy seven yards and a touchdown three catches for thirty two yards. so that's like ten yards every time he touches the ball. That's good. But the substitutes that they got for the department hockey. Yeah. Yeah. They got Randall COBB and Brandin cooks had four cats it from forty three yards. Let me go to the chiefs for a second though I know we talked yesterday about how people don't repeat and I don't think people repeat in the NFL but boy oh boy, they look very, very good. This kid look what they lost Damian Williams opted out this year and a couple of years ago I guess it was Kareem. Hunt. They lost him bad behavior this kid Edwards. They're just place them looks as good. He and the other kid Mahomes is a prodigy at twenty four. He takes what the defense gives him. He's great. They looked very good Mike. As. Much of it was too late. I'll admit when Louis Riddick was talking him up and selected him as fantasy draft and said this kid, this is the Komo one. One I said, let me pay more attention to Edward. Solaire might have otherwise good for him. Good for Louis Riddick and those who followed suit but still man I'm looking at a Houston going. What are you doing? What are you doin' trade on the winner? The winner was really great. All Year to talk about the William overstay tight in the people are going to overstate that it Kansas City are they're sixteen in ot? Maybe? No. Maybe, there's great. No, not sixteen to no no no. The chiefs Texans approached the national anthem in very different ways chiefs defensive end Alex okafor kneeled with raised fists while his teammates still at locking arms, the Texan stayed in the locker room. But both teams then congregated arm in arm tomorrow a moment of unity which got boos from some in the crowd. Tony. What does this reaction to say to? You. Know? I'm not. I'm not sure I didn't expect that I didn't understand the booing. Not about the anthem it was not about the flag they have locked arms. I didn't understand what people were doing what about it a little bit. About it and I thought maybe what it stands for is that some people may be many people because you don't know stands for about a quarter full you don't know what it represents, but maybe they're tired of the political Zeh of sports and maybe they want their sports just as sports and they don't want anything else with it but. You know it and it's their right to progress. It is that way Bush it's their right. If you're going to have a democracy here, you gotta hear from everybody I won't go back on what you said I. Mean I'm not an anthem guy is you know I don't really know why they play it but I was very surprised that only one person knelt and and I just wondered was that something that they set up beforehand that only one person would do it because I expected more than that. Game by game and like Tony Dungee said so eloquently, last night I am not going to keep a scroll of who does what I just I. Don't care I care what people believe in, and if you want to protest dot com five because it is a democracy let me go back to let me go back to the boost. The booze we're about sixty percent. That's what I heard. So the people who said, they did hair blowing sorry I heard it. I expect the booing because I think is the culture. You know how cynical I am now Tony you and I have have changed places in our lives in the culture and what we expect from people. I think as a culture, we are dumber and meaner than ever I know we're less literate and so the meanness comes out it comes out in so many different ways and by the way I'm not I didn't say the people in Missouri I'm saying we're going to hear this. You won't hear that I'm betting that kind of bullying and pick some places not pick. CHICAGO NEW YORK. Washing. San Francisco. I'm talking with amber they get fans, and by the way, some of these places are trying to get fans is Chicago I. Know Because I'm listening to the story unfold, they're trying to have fans before the end of the season. So yes, nobody else has fans now Jacksonville in Kansas City are the only ones. That's only that's right. I. Think we're going to hear this kind of bullying I think there's a segment of the culture that is larger than you think there is that is not going to be progressive and think progressively about that in the way I defined progression. It. is their right to do. That is your right to kneel. It's right to boo okay. I was a little surprised because we quoted that Washington Post poll yesterday. Yeah. At sixty two percent of the people felt the athletes had a right was that. National is yet. I don't know if you've seen this year. the Miami Dolphins released. Why are they going to stay in the locker room? Yes it is moving. It is power. It's an extended rhyme I think people ought to look at the. Powerful both yes the Houston Rockets were beaten soundly last night by the Lakers that series is now three to one and it will be four to one. The rockets can't guard big people they were out rebounded fifty, two, twenty, six, twelve to one on the offensive glass. They got next to nothing from James Harden two for eleven shooting did not even attempt a shot in the fourth quarter one. Woolens are the rockets getting closer or further away. Know. philosophically. I don't like small just philosophically don't like it. So I didn't think they were going to do any more than one game the first game and they wanna I just sort of going through to form. The Lakers had strategy. They've known about since. March, maybe before. James Harden got the ball. They believe they could double team make him make bad decisions turnover over be less effective. They knew exactly what they do against James Harden and the Lakers are not worried in the least about this. Now looking ahead Tony Russell Westbrook, who was a hall of fame all time great players first ballot. He's not more effective because he can't shoot it and teams are going to say fine you think you could dominate us in the paint you go ahead and do that. That's not going to win a playoff series or beat good teams. So there's more work to do Daryl Morey if he's still there what they have done in Houston, they've been able to he's able to credit him. As to rebuild retool and keep going to stay in contention I think they can still do that. But this group I.

In the summer of K. D. during a local radio interview talking about Oh, we need to possibly see the medicals or we may not offer him the whole Max like we don't need him sabotage. We need him. To. Go, just just just fall back. You don't come to the Games. With whoever you WANNA come to the games with and leave. That like that for real like if that happens and he allows those people that you just had to do their job, then I think they can now go sell who they are to sum up becoming free agents in the game and turn their situation around. Absolutely. In Jalen, we didn't get to discuss this much on the show as we run out of time. So I wanNA bring it up again, there was a display of unity another nothing to do with the anthem, another American flag, a display of unity. Again, I'm going to say a display of unity between the chiefs and the Texans, and there were some booze. Now, I'm not going to act like all seventeen thousand people booed loudly but there was there was a presence of booze during a display of unity had nothing to do with the flag or the anthem. What do you make of that from the Kansas? City fans a few dozen. Bother me it. Doesn't bother me at all. I didn't get a chance to talk about on the television show I noticed.

"Fifty one at thirty one take that into account ladies and gentlemen from the time that the Kansas City chiefs were down twenty four to nothing to the Houston Texans. They have outscored the Houston Texans Eighty to to fourteen. Think about that for a second eighty to to fourteen. In the last, you know basically a part of the last two games that they've played against one another for you to know if you're bill O'Brien at, you're in the same conferences, the Kansas City chiefs for you to know that you're going up against a juggernaut led by Patrick Mahomes with tyreek Hill with Sammy Watkins with Travis. Kelsey Dan. You know this guy Elaine. Edwards out of Lsu, this brothers run for one hundred, thirty eight yards averaging more than five yards a carry shoring up as a rookie to do his thing, my goodness Damian Williams decided to opt out of play because the Cova nineteen I don't know if he'll have a job when he gets back. If this kid continues to play the way to he looked last night, I'm just thinking about all of those things in this great is the Kansas City chiefs are particularly offensively when I think about that number eighty to to fourteen. It makes me look at this offense coordinator this former collegiate head coach this president head coached at also serves the. GM of the Houston Texas named Bill O'Brien, and I'm like my God what did you do by letting go of the Andre Hopkins not that it would have made much of a difference, but you just never know and I see Shawn, Watson, and that post-game pry conference looking relatively helpless was talking about he did all he could you know. But in the end, it just said to me what we knew coming into the game Houston Texans Ain't good enough. They might make a rough of the AFC south, but we don't expect them to make any noise even with a great young quarterback light to Shawn Watson because we don't like the pieces and the parts around him playing the simple. Texas defense has issues and not having the Andre. Hopkins does not help the offense obviously. But last night was about the Kansas City chiefs all. The triplets, what people may be forget is that Kansas City had quadruplets maybe the the best quadruplets of all time Patrick Mahomes tyreek hill at the wideout position. Travis Kelsey. Obviously. At tight end and Kareem hunt running back right like those four guys. When is there ever been a collection like that? Those four skills position offensively. Has there ever? So there are very shortlist the best now. Kareem Hunt had his problems and is no longer on the team and Damien Williams stepped up and actually had some clutch played for this team throughout his tenure there. If Yup, it out this season and. By the way, it may be over because of Clyde Edwards Hilar- Clyde Edwards layer gives them back their quadruplets maybe again, the best collection ever guy is his thing is how versity versatily is not just how explosive he is on the ground, but he can catch passes. He didn't even have to throw them like how many times is it going to be targeted with all the targets, all the weapons that Patrick Mahomes has. But by the way, he can also do that. Think about the weaponry at mahomes disposal Andy Reed's disposal right now. They have the much improved defense they. Defense was a little bit underrated a couple years ago wasn't very good. Put a little bit under rated a couple years ago they should have won the super bowl that year if not for snap penalty that gave the Patriots the ball back, they'd have been in the Super Bowl I think she's would have beaten the rams two years ago, and then they won the super bowl last year and. The way it looks to me they just got better and more unstoppable on offense. The story of the game is that look lots of stuff can go wrong barring catastrophic injury, which is always possible in the NFL knock wood that that doesn't happen. We're looking at at a dynasty here we're looking at a team that for the foreseeable future will be favored every year they play. Listen this was about the Texas and. Everything that you said Max was absolutely true. But other than people who didn't see clydes layer play running back at Lsu last year. That's the only people who didn't know how good that kid was. That was the new thing about the Kansas City chiefs but we expected the Kansas City chiefs to be a notch above the rest coming into the two thousand and twenty season who we didn't know about was the Houston Texas we didn't know what? To wide receiving corps would look like without De'andre Games as bill. O'Brien gave us all the reasons why he had to make that move. We didn't know what they would look like defensively with the new defensive coordinator. Well, this is the first time we got to get those answers that was the team we need to look at it and see, okay who will you be for the two thousand twenty season and what I saw that ain't good. What I saw doesn't bode well for bill. O'Brien who's the GM and the head coach? It doesn't bode well for Tim Kelly who's the office coordinator who can't find ways to push the ball down the field with three soap four, four wide receivers you have fuller you have still have cooks these guys get deep. The problem is finding ways to get intermediate routes, finding ways to get separations on short routes, but you decided to go small ball against the Kansas City chiefs no. This being the Houston Texans, you go small ball and it works for a little while until you play a D. to play Lebron would ask Houston rocking last night you will. Houston Rockets Yeah so so now when you play play a team that can put points on the board, a team that can do what you can't. You can't play small ball. So their inability to push the ball down the field, the Houston Texas inability to make huge plays that loomed large last year, and let's think about the shower watching when he was under pressure last night under pressure he was pressured sixteen times. He was sacked four times. He also threw an interception with mads. You made a great play last year he was he was almost his rating was ninety when he had the Sean. Hannity Andrea Hawk it's because he had that one player who could beat man-to-man covers a catch fifty fifty balls. That's the Guy Bill. O'Brien didn't want. That's the guy. Bill. O'Brien said they didn't need and went out and got David Johnson because I guess he wanted to get a run game even though Johnson Carlos high produce that last year this is an indictment on the Houston Texans. Last night was an indictment obsolete will be moving forward and the decisions that they made in the off season. They are in trouble and you're looking at the thirty nine per year and try to blame it on the Shawn Watson but it ain't him. SARS Stephen. Engle Hero. I one thousand percent. Agree I. Have Nothing to add to that but other but outside of a confession, you know Ryan Clark when I listened to you speak I don't know if you know this or not. But I actually small and you actually motivate me let me tell you why. I can't get out of my mind and Max you may or may not remember this Lsu is getting ready to play for the national. Championship. Okay. Obviously you know I mean I'm going against him because I'm mad to Alabama and I had to deal with Ryan and Marcus Spears to begin with but and boogers well but Dan to make matters worse I mean if you go back on get up, watch the segment where Ryan clock is motivate in Marcus Spears and the Lsu Tigers giving a motivational speech on get up and Marcus Spears goes into his defensive linemen stance while Ryan Clark is giving. It is. I mean, I have never ever.

"At this point no and I think part of it too is also like time under task right like relative to his football life cycle. Jimmy Garoppolo has not been at this a long time and based on the way they'd operated team like I think German Garoppolo to an extent unless he's a pro. This is how you're all expected to operate. So when I say this don't freak out like we wouldn't treat any other position the same when your number's called. You're told the answer the bell but Jimmy Garoppolo threw the ball twenty five times in the playoffs leading up to this like he was not asked to use his arm a lot. And then you get to the most important game of the season and as we mentioned the game flow changes that a little. But you're asked to do a little bit more and you're expected to they pay you handsomely to do so but you're it's still not something and you hear players all the time time under task. You haven't spent a lot of time under task being forced to drop back pass to do some of the things that he ultimately failed in this Chris Jones the one who got no heat on the sanders. Overthrow WPRO trying to remember who got pressure on that one. I thought he should've hit that. I Oh yeah absolutely. And it wasn't the one that they showed the video after Kyle on the sideline line next to next to John Lynch oh no. Oh that's brutal. Yeah I mean he had him. And you know a lot of other quarterbacks at that like the quarterbacks who are all above him hit that throw right you know I mean we. We talked about this. It was the side by side of Patrick. Mahomes the throat tyreek hits the Sammy Watkins that we talked about on Sherman before he hits his shots and Garoppolo. Doesn't Andy Reid goes for it twice on fourth down and Kyle Shanahan Shanahan kicks the field goal like in the key situations that ultimately decide games like this one side was all gas no breaks and hit their mark on the other side. Folded was so mad at Andy. Andy Reid when I thought he wasn't going to go for because I was watching from home and then I saw and I saw all my friends on twitter saying they're sending out the field goal union. I was screaming and tearing our hair out and then he changed When you changed his mind I just like a sense of calm? Came over me honestly like a warm warm glow like people talk about when they have out of body experience and like a you know a benevolent spirit and and I felt like a mind meld with him in that very moment Chiefs had attempted the few tammy entire. What about when you just do it to three quarters is still low? I think but probably goes down a bit right because that's skewed by situation. You GotTa just look at the first one hundred and they were. They converted six ten so they were good at it when they did it. Their play quite calling on fourth down was awesome. How about the Yes it was awesome was one of the fourth down conversions. One where Anthony. Now that was the touchdown. We're Anthony Sherman. German lead where he just told Williams to follow him into that was really pretty. He did a lot of cool stuff with the run game in this one. They ran the ball a lot. More than the enemy that was entirely the product of what the niners were giving them on defense. which is the home speed option? Who has been saying? Ah Okay so I was wrong about many many things but I believe if you listen to this very podcast last week. There's a point where I tell Warren Sharp. I really hope. They run the option with homes at the goal line because this San Francisco Forty niners defense had struggled with that all year they struggle Kyle Murray British. Lamar Jackson had a successful zone. Read at the goal line to now mahomes got got you know got Walla but it worked. I Yeah that was great. Well one end you andy going for it. Being in a baller on the other hand you had kyle kick in the field goal Let's wrap over talking about the end of half thing because like I said I think that's really the thing you can dig him on. Although I've actually the more time I've spent thinking about it the more I think it's not as bad as people thought. Oh really now. I'll be interested to hear your reason because I heard one. I heard one reason that I can kind of vibe with and so I wanNA know if it's the one you're going for all right so for those who I forgot the chiefs stop. The niners are primarily the chiefs with one forty five. That's swear you thought okay. You know. It's safe forty seconds right for one forty five Donald Duck and you see John Lynch Aka Wes welker making a timeout came out gestured so they don't and he wrote in this all matters. The ran the ball. Aw most regains three yards Let's see okay. They didn't don't use a time out on the first first place then they got the big play on third down. It's sorry making sure is the third down play. Was that the kid the kid play. Got It wait no no no sorry. Sorry sorry sorry. Jeff Wilson catch the pass out of the backfield. Sorry I'm all discombobulated is completed. Then you get to your door to kill which is really by the way. Beautiful Pass by Jimmy Garoppolo. John Best passing through the game. So then it's an OPR. Whatever and like I said how you feel about that really comes down to how you feel about precedent in my opinion So afterwards I said immediately I said wait I had like a flashback to the Ravens Game Kyle did like this exact same thing thing against the Ravens and then I go back and I wanna see what he says about it afterwards. You know how he's defending it and he said that you know well they wanted to. You push it only after a minute. Because he didn't want to give the ball back to the other offense and much like the chiefs the Ravens have very good offense and it was interesting to me because I was okay like this is just as much if not more about the Mark Jackson and Patrick Mahomes than it is about an absence of faith in his own offense and then I think about it that way. Make it kind of made sense to me. I think we're looking at it so much through. Well he should have had faith as offense and he should have known mahomes wasn't playing well and they you know but China is using information from like the entire season. He wasn't thinking about like okay. Mahomes has struggled this game. Not GonNa Score here and when you think about it like it is reasonable that he thought if they failed Patrick Mahomes who come down the field the score and I think especially with that line of thinking and Tim Hasselbeck pointed this out to us that had the chiefs in another world made the right play there. It was botched by the special teams unit. But that ball should have been down pretty deep within their territory. So if you're talking about that potential of being backed up and they were still you know deep in their own territory wherever they started at so I don't know I guess I can understand like and you're right. It's like one of those consistent things like blackjack like if you hit her. Stay on sixteen. Just do it. All the time. Like the fact that he's consistent with it and that's a general philosophy for them. I guess is a little more defensible but I don't know man. I think I think I'm still kind of in the mode of like you know what if even if you are worried about the other side or even if you know understandable you don't have all the the faith that Jimmy Garoppolo is built for that moment like do you not have faith in the fact that you're Kyle Shanahan like maybe I have so much confidence in Kyle. I assume he can conquer the world also. Yeah Yeah also and this feels like a thing that is much easier to say with. Hindsight defense is playing really really well. I should've thought this is going to be harder for my defense as the game goes on right now we're crushing it. Maybe this is the lesson suppo is like you got to start thinking about these defenses and fourth quarters and how they're built and everything we talked about at the beginning of this and I think at that point his offense in in his de he's offense you know one your couch Shannon and you should be able to. We've seen you do this. You've seen you call like zinc credible two minutes and then to you. You should also also have faith in your defense to make this stop and all three. You know you gotta get the points against the chiefs. You gotta take them like he can't like foot off the gas pedal and that applies of course the field field goals well. This isn't going to be attended ten game. This isn't gonNA end seventeen to ten thirteen to ten. It's going to get worse right so. Yeah yeah well I think you said I think you said this leading up to the game right like these teams need to come out and throw haymakers early like you can't be passive in this game in the way and certainly that was more criticism the chiefs who had taken all these early you know deficits in all of their playoff games leading up to this but I think you could say the same for the niners and key point. They're like this is not a game to save. Save your bullets for late. He was protecting his defense and that was not the time to protect them. I think that's how I feel right right like he was coaching like he wanted to keep mahomes off the field and wanted to do whatever took points not disregard now worrying about getting his own points and I think that was that was a mistake I think and I think you phrased it perfectly there and maybe maybe you can call this strategy but I would call it maybe like inconsistent aggression right like we're rewarding in these instances down the stretch where he's got the goal to throw it in a situation where it's contested but then and you get to the field goal situation you get to the end of the half and all the sudden that's where you choose to turtle on this is something that I think when you've got those other things happening side by side. In the game it becomes a little confusing to me. Speaking of inconsistent aggression question from Lenny. Coming up I we're GONNA take a quick break..

"And how the teams assembled and then the other is about scheme And I think they are into related like I said schematically. The niners didn't really change what they did it. All Robert Sell. It didn't change what he did on the other side of the ball you saw I think chiefs this defense. That kind of did start changing. Some of the things they were doing as the game went on a few really fascinating adjustments in the fourth quarter with talk about that But this this niners defense and one of the things that she did Mike was. They started giving their offensive line help. That was a really until we'll partway through the third quarter when they started chipping. And that's by the way when I would've started moving Bosa inside a little bit more and play more games But by and large the niners I didn't really do anything different and I think what you saw in the fourth quarter was a secondary that had been bolstered by the pass rush all season long and at the end of the day. Like wasn't as good as the front seven now. And we talk about how those things are so inextricably linked and really. You can kind of go back to the last last year in this one. Because we've talked so much about Nick Bosa kind of being that sort of skeleton key that unlock the potential of this entire group. Because remember. We're not that far from Robert Salad. Being a guy who people were calling for his job right. Yeah that was not that long ago in the recent past and when you mentioned the inability to adjust in certain situations like that and the idea of just letting your great players go out and just out great everybody else. I immediately thought Mike McCarthy and would eventually wrote him out of town in Green Bay and Scotland and what eventually was his death knell in in Dallas. which was this idea that we have better players than you and so we're just going to roll the ball out and let our better players do their thing and all this like you said Ed? It's the fine line you get to when you get great on great at the Super Bowl level at the conference championship level of saying. Am I going to adjust for the opponent or am I going to impose my will and I think the the best do some version of both Allah. What you just mentioned what the chiefs like? They're not a team. That gives a line a ton of help during the regular season because of the guys they've got there but once you started seeing move the pocket throws once you started seeing a little bit more help for their tackles. They've been used to seeing on that when you went. Okay Andy. Reid is willing to swallow his pride. And say we've got to deal with something abnormal normal year. Frankly those are the things I thought they should have done earlier in the game. I was texting you about that as well. But yeah he made those adjustments and in defense of the niners owners. I think kind of cuts to what I was saying there is yes there you could say. Well maybe they should of move Bosa inside more but then you know you're I think they're very concerned about containing homes right outside and you can say well. Maybe they should have played a little bit more man or mix things up but they might not have the horses to do it and not I think cuts to this team was built and How there maybe weaknesses? That were masked at times by the fact that they had leads they weren't I wasn't a big. They didn't have to rush the passer. You know a ton in the fourth quarter bill Barnwell mentioned. He said this the week before the Super Bowl he was one of the few people appointed out that the niners pass rush was actually struggling in the fourth quarter during the regular season. Just wasn't an issue very often and then it became an issue in this game. I I I don't know like I in terms of bigger picture takeaways about this defense and whether this style of defense can succeed I this is something I want to think through more because you know Chris. Simms pointed out that the Seattle style defense now has given up leads in fourth quarters in a few super bowls. There's the one we shall not speak of involving New England. There's this one there's the Atlanta one and you do wonder like. Hey maybe can't like maybe the style of defensive cover three with a you know it's so contingent on talent talent winning and that pass rush getting home at the end. Maybe that's just not built for super bowls unless you really truly have elite talent at every level. Yeah I I think they're certainly something to that given the historical context but I think on the other side. We also have to probably give a little bit of credence to the fact that you song uncommon performance. Right we acknowledged that Patrick mahomes might be the most talented quarterback we've seen in God knows how long like pure talent wise since Marino. So maybe an Aaron Rodgers s kind of guy so at some point someone else's better and doing the thing that he had done well all year like Patrick Mahomes with his back against the wall. Third and fifteen plus had been one of the most consistent commodities all year I think his passer rating on third and fifteen plus throws. This season was ninety. Nine point nine nine. All their quarterbacks combined were four point seven so stupid thirteen for seventeen is being insensitive thirteen for seventeen on third and fifteen. That's so stupid and six of those went for first downs or touchdowns. Well the third fifteen play I I do want because I was kind of a turning point in this game I went back and watched. I mean it's just it's so beautiful. It's a perfect cover three beater but and that but you can say that. Yeah sure you know oh Move the safety or freezes a quarterback and then Tari will be right there and run run a corner but you have to every every single person involved has to esque execute that perfectly right. It's not just mahomes placing the ball or hill shaking off Jimi Ward and then running the perfect route I think it was Sammy. Watkins who froze Moseley. I WANNA say Kelsey ran the deep crosser. It was something Patrick Mahomes. I think told Andy Reid. He wanted to run when the game was on the line. I believe I read that somewhere. Probably something you always here after a great slave superbowl no but it was like you said sort of the benefit of taking breath. You hear all these stories now about how mahomes came to this item item. They had run a version of that play earlier and he correct he added something or tag something on tiree kills route that they saw earlier and adjusted to. So those are the kind of things is that we always go. You know kind of gloss over with home because the arm talent and everything else is so gifted like he saw enough in conjunction with Andy Reid to go ahead and be a part of that conversation. Do you think nick. Bosa was held on that play on south of me no holding a hoax. Don't don't let the liberal media. You sell you on that one there. This is so little holding college right in this. There's no holding right. I want to say there is no offense holes in the Super Bowl and this is one of the cleanest is football games overall. That's why it felt like it was over. I mean it was over in like three and a half hours the by the way. I think that if I'm a niners fan I'm angrier about this. Hold the nope yeah. I've watched it a few times. I think either way I'm not saying I. I think both of them by the way can go either way. They're OPIE I. It's more just about precedent and like they didn't call against Rudolf. Whatever you know all that stuff You'd be angry about that but I think ultimately did it like but but and that's it I understand why annoyed because it's something they haven't called withhold. It's I can I. I would understand if I was if I was especially because it was literally the entire game hinged on on this play but then if they called it wolf what yeah. That's the thing it's one. It's one of those moments where I think more often than not and I understand the game should be legislated the same from start to finish certainly all those things and especially when it's clear and obvious put an instance were it's right on the edge like that and you could go fifty fifty. There is part of me that still says. Let the guys Mayfield handle it. Do you think Patrick Mahomes should have been the MVP in this game. You know what I had this back and forth with dad and trae on the show and I said yes and I understand the argument. Even for Damian Williams of consistency throughout the game was not mine. That's not Oh really okay. Oh so who picked. Let's tell me what you're gonNA say I well I still Jose like it again. It's whatever you mean for. MVP like if we remove the performance of Patrick Mahomes in the moments that it mattered. The most than the chiefs are not winning this game. Like what he he did was so extraordinary in a short period of time and I get it. The first of the game was what the rest of the game was but to be able to turn it on like that. I just feel like that's the performance formats that will be remembered. That's the performance that defined the game. So it should be the MVP performance Kevin Cole. PF made a great great point to me. Because I afterwards yesterday I tweeted a something about how the big box score lie. Let me get the exact numbers is that and Mahomes didn't he only ran for twenty nine yards right because of the kneel down actually ran for forty four and those runs in particular works huge huge he all of his runs were like critical conversions. Or you know high. EPA runs. And I think those can be ignored when you're looking at his statistics in this game like the first in it. Also that's what the niners defense was giving him at certain points and he took cook it and when above and beyond with it and I think it Kevin pointed out. That's why he thought you know you have to count those and then the MVP case becomes a lot clearer. And I think that's completely valid. I mean he's as fourth quarter. Statistics are also hilarious but to me the counter to Mahomes. I'm not saying he would on it. But this would have been my one B to mahomes one eight. Potentially it would've been Chris Jones. Who was an on that note? Let's let's take a quick break. Let's talk about our playoff playoff draft and and then after the break. Let's talk about the chiefs defense in the niners offense in Kyle Shanahan and how we feel about the collapse but first let's take. You could be headed to a game or going on.

"Would mean disaster. <Speech_Music_Male> I would imagine <Speech_Male> for eighteen. That needs to win. <Speech_Music_Male> Now I don't <Speech_Music_Male> think they disagree <Speech_Music_Male> on the value of <Speech_Male> Prescott. I think they disagree <Speech_Male> on how much they're <Speech_Male> willing to pay him. <Speech_Male> Because that's not <Speech_Male> the same thing the cowboys <Speech_Music_Male> believe. You get an extra <Speech_Male> person player for the <Speech_Male> cowboys. So they shouldn't <Speech_Male> have to pay you as much <Speech_Male> and this dude's not <Speech_Male> trying to hear it. Now they franchise <Speech_Male> him <Speech_Male> you franchise. <Speech_Music_Male> This year is going to be at about <Speech_Music_Male> thirty three million <Speech_Male> dollars that basically means <Speech_Male> the next two years. He's <Speech_Male> GonNa make about seventy <Speech_Male> million dollars <Speech_Music_Male> because they didn't wind up <Speech_Male> having to franchise again. <Speech_Music_Male> I can't <Speech_Male> see any way in the world. <Speech_Male> They're going down that road <Speech_Male> and then trying to <SpeakerChange> negotiate <Speech_Male> off that. <Speech_Male> Say the cowboys any <Speech_Male> money or saved anything <Speech_Male> in terms of cap <Speech_Male> space. They need to get <Speech_Male> in and get this deal. I <Speech_Music_Male> love what <SpeakerChange> I do and in Kansas <Speech_Music_Male> City. Blow the roof <Speech_Music_Male> everything <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> number <Speech_Music_Male> thirty <Speech_Music_Male> million dollars <Speech_Music_Male> how much the <Speech_Male> Patriots are willing to pay <Speech_Male> per year to keep <Speech_Music_Male> Tom Brady Korean. <Speech_Music_Male> Rappaport <Speech_Male> and the raiders <Speech_Male> meanwhile are poised to pursue <Speech_Male> brady. If <Speech_Male> he doesn't resign with <Speech_Male> the Patriots before free <Speech_Male> agency begins. Adam <Speech_Male> Schefter so Bomani. <Speech_Male> Where do you see Brady <Speech_Male> playing next season? <Speech_Male> I mean I really I have no <Speech_Male> idea. It seems less <Speech_Male> and less likely that. <Speech_Male> He's GonNa wind up playing <Speech_Male> for the Patriots. But <Speech_Male> I could <Speech_Male> see a team. Like <Speech_Male> the raiders or a team <Speech_Male> like the chargers. Somebody it <Speech_Male> feels like they need <Speech_Male> to bring a dude in <Speech_Male> order to sell tickets making <Speech_Male> the call to bring him <Speech_Male> in but the Patriots <Speech_Male> apparently are willing to pay <Speech_Male> him thirty million dollars <Speech_Male> a year if he goes <Speech_Male> somewhere for thirty <Speech_Male> million dollars a year <Speech_Male> This is not a <Speech_Male> thirty million dollar <Speech_Male> year quarterback anymore <Speech_Male> so whoever <Speech_Male> gets him may <Speech_Male> wind up getting a limit. <Speech_Male> I also thought <Speech_Male> this was not a thirty million <Speech_Male> dollar problem. I <Speech_Male> thought this was about getting adding <Speech_Male> stuff that Tom Brady <Speech_Male> wants. And it wasn't even <Speech_Male> about the money. Allegedly <Speech_Male> it was about getting help <Speech_Male> around him so <Speech_Male> meanwhile if you're <Speech_Male> the raiders will <Speech_Music_Male> yes you can offer <Speech_Male> him. Young <Speech_Male> talent could also <Speech_Male> offer him a spot <Speech_Male> on a team that <Speech_Male> may be vacated by <Speech_Male> a quarterback who was <Speech_Male> booed on his way <Speech_Male> out of not just the <Speech_Male> arena. But out of Oakland <Speech_Male> for <Speech_Male> me Jon Gruden <Speech_Male> and the raiders and establishing that <Speech_Male> wishing a <Speech_Male> residency for an <Speech_Male> over the hill performer. <Speech_Music_Male> In Las Vegas. <Speech_Music_Male> Kind of is very rant <Speech_Music_Male> forever. Yeah the problem <Speech_Male> with the raiders. If <Speech_Male> they do then get it. <Speech_Male> That's fine but you could <Speech_Male> only count on one a <Speech_Male> year this year right <Speech_Male> back in the. We need a quarterback <Speech_Male> situation. <Speech_Male> If you make this decision <Speech_Male> to me if you <Speech_Male> signed Tom Brady <Speech_Male> and get rid of Derek. Carr <Speech_Male> you need to take <Speech_Music_Male> a quarterback in the first round <Speech_Music_Male> like the future is <Speech_Male> now if Tom <Speech_Male> Brady is your quarterback <Speech_Male> we also just we <Speech_Male> did this far. <Speech_Male> You can't keep assuming <Speech_Male> this old dude who <Speech_Male> doesn't miss any starts <Speech_Male> just going to be able to keep <Speech_Male> doing that forever. <Speech_Music_Male>

"Am nicer possibly in every other person on this network to that guy that guy because I believe using ninth best quarterback in the League. You'll believe that city one day here is the issue when I did the accounting counting. Add up the names of these ninth. He was atrocious. He was atrocious in that whole fourth quarter. He was atrocious on that last potentially game winning drive Dr. He was atrocious with Emmanuel Sanders. Open down the field. He was atrocious when he threw interception in the first half with his eyes closed all of that. That is really hard for me to spin. But but here's the Spin Kyle. Shanahan is the guy calling the plays as Kyle Shanahan is the guy who is running this team Jimmy. Garoppolo is not the guy playing defense. So give me Shanahan's head on a pike for what I saw last night. I want you guys to know the strategy that he used. Apparently he's been actually eight mile and he's like I'm going to say everything bad about Jimmy Garoppolo before four Bomani can right. How wack is that? He's GonNa get out here every week. Rodford is due when the only thing you really know about him is that he's handsome and you go ride this all the way Out and then when the time comes you need. Somehow you were going to take the joy away from me from looking at you and say everything. I told you all season long as to why they wouldn't win. The Super Bowl with that do happen in that game and guess what he looked like that same dude all the way through the playoffs. He didn't come in here. Is Show you anything new. This this is what he was in fact he might have played better in this game that he played in any other game in the playoffs in college. Shanahan was there to watch all that Shanahan had all that. Fill in cowshed ahead still put the game into dead detains at a time where he did not have to. So who gets the blame. The answer is all love them. Get the blame. I don't I know why by the way you do set up here Friday and talked about how Shanahan was such genius genius at work right there in this situation. What here's why? This conversation is so hard for me beyond the fact that I have vomited by daddy three degrees a wrong. No it's because one game name. This is what we're talking about Kyle. Shanahan man he is a genius he also completely believe that off ever done this before. Why are you talking about this game? He's never done this more. He's never basically bottled this same level so he has never followed this same saying that Kyle Shanahan should no longer be. He regarded as offensive coaching gene. Saying I'd never regarded him as wanted all the only person who did that is. It's not just me. It's the fact that he built a system that that acknowledges addresses the limitations of Jimmy Garoppolo which by the way I also address. I also address those things. Oh you don't you you address. Arrest them just long enough to be like but he had a good game against the saints but he had a great game against the Saint and on top of that Bomani he is what he is twenty. Eight years is old Okay so not super young hearts are you trying to talk about the future of him of course because he has started as many games as Sam Darnold has both so he is is not a finished product. The Jimmy Garoppolo can still get better serious. You write about that really trying to talk about. Weather's do like he's twenty two years old and fresh face and everything else. How long has he been in the league? Like it's not like he just got here for college. How long has he been? He's been in situations to develop in to improve improve and this is as good as he is right now because the dude is just not that good. Sometimes there's a reason to do is drafted in the third round. There's a reason why do being a backup for raw tom right because if somebody really saw dude that was a first class takeover your franchise kind of guy you can trade that and give more than a second round. Pick look man. They are a quarterback away from being able to win the Super Bowl thing. Just Mavis right. Hey we lost in their quarterback.

"Seasons as a starter starter. So what did you think of his performance. He was for three and a half quarters. Worse than Jimmy Garoppolo and then when he became Pamela homes. And that's the sort of thing about this guy. He has in three straight playoff. Game scored forty one unanswered. Twenty eight eight unanswered and then twenty one unanswered and for all of the doubts. I had early because this did seem like the worst game I'd ever seen in play. He never got less terrifying which might be the Ultimate Testament to Pat Mahoney. I mean this was the worst game that I have seen him play in in the worst game you could see him play he can make that throw right there. The thing about him is distressed. That's on defense at all times with him. 'cause you're not as worried about some kind of surgical level of precision. You're worried about them. Taking the top off the defense you gotta worry about the fact that he can get outside. The forty niners got plenty heat autumn but he always able to break contain so many times with the forty. Niners you go through this season. Russell Wilson Column in the Mark Jackson Jackson. Those guys did alright against their forty niners. Defense if you could get outside that pass then you had a chance and Mahomes can do that aside from having that rocket on. So yeah for three quarters it did not look good for what didn't change is he still they do and he is stronger than I gave them. Credit for that might be the whole lesson from this postseason because we saw that run against the titans. I think it was where it's sort of like. How is he doing any of this? But in this game we saw Nick Bosa get hands on him and he just remained upright so the idea of him being mobile and sturdy as well as being able to have this intercontinental SORTA range. I mean to me. He's the face of the NFL. With the caveat which is simply the people people outside the game appreciate what they will now. You just got here right like he's give that a little bit of time in that part gets taken care of and Dominic Foxworth made an interesting point because you look at Mahomes and the question question is. Where's the whole year right? Like where's the flaw. He found the one flaw. And this is bananas. He's the rare dude who gets worse when using play action right so you look at the quarterback the decided almost entirely definitive plan to make things easier. Dominates this dude may actually find that to be too easy. That's the only thing that he's not really good at everything else. He's checking every box that you could ask. And it also feels like when his back is against the wall as much as this sounds like a cliche about to say when he just needs to throw it. He's pretty pretty. Much unstoppable interviews. Saying as much of this is like a cliche. It's a cliche but it's true. That's the magic of Pat Mahomes but up next is Andy Reid for whom. The twenty-first season is the char read entered last night with the most playoff wins by head. Coach would never won a super bowl but his plans after last night included eating the biggest cheeseburger you've ever seen and listening to pit bull. And when asked if he spent the night with the trophy read said that he spent it with his trophy wife. Life which goals Bomani read is the field. Good Super Bowl story today. So how do you feel for him. Look at everybody around him seems to feel oh good for him. Everybody in Philadelphia seems to feel good for him all the former players. They all seem to be in the same boat so good for him. In that regard I also have to remember this about Andy Read. We're not at a point where this does not matter anymore due to draft Don mcnabb in nineteen ninety nine. This is the do the handed his offense over to Michael Vick was he gets out of prison. And then the guy that makes the call go ahead. I didn't do this or Patrick. mahomes black quarterback still got a whole lot of shrubs. They have to go through in terms of procession. Andy Reid has looked at countless dudes. have been like yeah. You look like you can run my offense. What did they let him? This and it feels bad that this is required for us to officially discuss Andy. Reid is one of the greats but that is how this all works. That's how our business works. We just went through this exercise with Kobe. Bryant you shrink down. Someone's life over and over again to a sentence and even though this guy is top seven and career career regular season wins and top seven career playoff wins and has a coaching tree with ten former assistants. Who became head coaches and all of the offensive vision? That you describe Bob. It's that line super bowl champion. That eluded him and now it's the one that he's GonNa lead with for the rest of it but I think that's fair. Though for him where he was he was in a class. A very good coaches right. So you take a guy like Marty Schottenheimer. Who's really got a very similar? Set up to Andy Reid except for like the playoff wins down the line. But why are you schottenheimer. Two losing seasons. It's all time really really really good coach. But that's a tear or two below your bill checks Shula's and those sorts of dudes that are up. There Wall types right with the championship. If for example he got into the Super Bowl one time prior to this this was a significant hurdle for here to clear like does it make him into a different person but it did show improve the way that he had not and no more clock. Jokes folks you yourself now to Kyle Shanahan the second time in four years Shanahan called off as a place for a team. That blue hued fourth quarter leads leads at Super Bowl. This Shanahan had to answer for his decision to play it safe at the end of the first half planned to go into halftime tied and abandoning the run in the fourth quarter when eleven. Eleven of the niners fifteen plays passes now. One of my thing quarterback who's been paid sixty one million dollars over three years you'll be able to handle such responsibility but Jimmy Garoppolo was three or four eleven thirty six yards and an interception that quarter Pablo who deserves more blame. The coach making decisions or the quarterback couldn't get it done. I.

"Flings four four yards for the completion. This dude is that Chal. The reason I took the Kansas City chiefs is because in the end. They have a player that you cannot account for the best player who ever lived and on the day he wins best player. Who ever lived after yesterday? He He who won the Super Bowl. Molly yeah do you see the first third quarter. I thought yeah and what happened in the fourth quarter with Tom Brady is a big fourth quarter. I don't hear about the first win. That game tail. Hey you guys get it here you go. I know because I'M GONNA I'M GONNA get both Yo- I mean you pretty much said. Exactly what. Say you shaving Stephen it because they thought you were Max. Here's here. Here's the problem as a player right when when when you look at what cowshed a hand did at the in the second half of this game especially in the fourth quarter. Here's the problem that that I have hedo do got us here. It's as simple as that. Do what got us here. And what got us here was physical zone scheme run games reverses to deebo Samuel why in the Hale would you get away from that. Why there there's no reason to get away from it if somebody said are I'm GonNa give you an opportunity to do what you do? The best thing you do and it's to win you a super bowl and you don't do that. That is called being crazy. That's exactly what that's gone. Scared of that offense and was trusting Jimmy Jd Halloween. I'm gonNA leave a beer. Don't you only have situation into Stephen is point. This is the second time like at some point in some codes. Should've walked up to cows and say hey you remember what happened when you was coaching with Atlanta. Don't let that happen again. Let's do what we do. which makes us the what's made us the best team in the NFC? And by the way Max to your point didn't we all know Patrick Mahomes was over there and he didn't like when you're in the NBA. You know and you know that a basketball player having got all tonight. What do basketball clamp Jada for you take out of his hands? I'm denying the Iraq war. Why listen this is simple? This is US Talking Football own own the SOFA or at a barbecue and we outside Chilin and you know what we all go say. Hey Man why the hell did kind of run the football. That's the question the everybody's as analytics man and tell me why Tong one this football game whatever kyle did his part early on on with the end of the first half of the third quarter field goal. Let me I just want to go through a list of things. Okay so the chiefs defense bows up in the red zone. Two Times to force field goals is that John Couch Shannon. Or is that on the chiefs defense making place. You answer that one chiefs defense making plays okay. Toronto Matthew has three place in the first quarter re saves the game. Is that on Shannon or does that on Toronto Matthew Maketplace Okay and then the fourth quarter goes or the third quarter goes is the second in seven homes escapes. The pressure scrambled for a first down. Very next explai- bosa grabs about the shoulder. He sheds it off completion to tribes Kelsey then he hits the Bonda Tyreek Hill. That Shanahan thing was that a player for the chiefs. Make you the play. Then the touchdown was okay. Keep going into that one. You just made right there to forty four yard touch me Claire. Going D- excuse me you can point to that but if you look at what the Manual Moseley.

"Circuitry. The last time Kyle Shanahan was in the Super Bowl. He was the offensive coordinator coordinator of the Falcons. And of course blue that twenty eight to three lead against the Patriots and now as the head coach the forty niners. You could say he's blown twenty two ten in lead in the fourth quarter. Is this a big knock against him. You know it's definitely something that's going to stay with him for a while. That falcons loss when cow's Shanahan was the offensive coordinator for that team in the Super Bowl that blew the twenty eight to three lead. To the Patriots that Falcons lost still sits with him. He still thinks about that and he talks about that a lot. So this is a rough one to swallow man you know. They gave up twenty one unanswered points to the chiefs in the fourth quarter when the chiefs looked all but dead they were in complete complete disarray. So yeah this is going to be one that Kyle Shanahan is definitely going to be thinking about during this very long off season and going back to Jimmy Garoppolo you know. He did have a good game like you said but he didn't deliver in the clutch. Is that GonNa be a big blake on his reputation you know. I think that's kind of unfair if it is again this was a forty niners. Did it need Jimmy Garoppolo to be the star quarterback to the level of Patrick Mahomes but he was absolutely outperforming. Patrick Mahomes for the first three quarters of this game and the only reason that the niners were in the position that they were was very very much. Because of what Jimmy Garoppolo had been doing In the in the earlier to mid parts of this game so I think that after the dust settles after maybe some forty niners honors fans have have time to process this loss. They should be a little bit. Kinder to Jimmy Garoppolo. I think it's a little unfair if this is placed squarely on his shoulders and looking at the chiefs all year if this is a dynasty in the making you know if if these guys are the heirs apparent to the Patriots does this feel like a step pinette direction it absolutely does. I think it felt like that when the chiefs made it to the Super Bowl in the first place especially after not making it in heartbreaking fashion last year but You know with the Patriots Dynasty declared over by a lot of experts With Tom Brady. Entering Free Agency and teams. Seems like the raiders. Apparently being interested in him. it really does feel like a sea change in the AFC and if not the whole league there was this interesting moment. I'm in the pre game when bill on the field and he's kind of flexing on the rest of the League right. He's got his multiple Super Bowl rings on but it really does feel like maybe a changing. The guard is happening right now. This is also a chief team. Patrick Mahomes is so young and has accomplished so much in just two full seasons as a starter order in the NFL where he's already won a league MVP a super bowl MVP and a super bowl ring. So there's a lot in store for the future of this kid kid for the future of this team and for the core of achieves team that is set to play together for a few years I think everyone else in the. AFC should be a little bit scared about what they're able to build here. And there's been a lot of talk about Andy Reid and his legacy and you know whether or not he needed to win a super bowl to be considered an all time. Great but I guess he doesn't need to worry about that debate anymore. Yeah you know. I don't know if Andy Reid actually needed to win. A Super Bowl as head coach because his legacy is already so strong you know he had actually already super bowl. Technically with the Green Bay packers in the ninety six ninety seven season As an assistant head coach for that team under Mike Holmgren is team but it always helps right it always cements the legacy. He is so respected. He had twenty one very strong years as head coach in the NFL. And you just Kinda. I liked to see a guy like Andy Reid. Finally when one finally be able to hoist that trophy and say that that that one's his and apparently you met some fans sounds from Philadelphia who came all the way to the game. Yeah that was super interesting you know. I Know Eagles fans who have either love hate relationship with Andy Reid so I saw these two these two people a couple in In Eagles Jerseys and I just wanted to know if they were there rooting for or against Andy. How did you WANNA make the trip all the way out here without your team? The super bowl is the Andes here and he's here. Who Do you think is going to win this game and Eating Candy and and we talked on the show the other day about how Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are such a match made in heaven how they literally complete each other's sentences they were totally loving on each other in the post game interview? Love this guy right here and all those guys that came before love you man appreciate it every bit of it. What's magical about you guys? Work together I mean we never lost state and we believe in each other and that's the way priest all year long and we got this guy right here to get us here and they found the way to get in on good heart's racing all research and I mean it's hard not to be really happy for these two guys. Yeah we listen. Listen Patrick Mahomes is a kid and Andy Reid is not and he. You know very much the elder statesman or the father figure every WANNA put it. Andy Redrafted Patrick. Mahomes and key gave him time to thrive under his system So this is a really beautiful relationship to see blossom and hey I'm always I'm always down for a good bromance right. And last week could beat the chiefs fans have been waiting fifty years for this moment. What did they have to say to you after after the game? Before and after the game a lot of the chiefs fans that I talked to you said this is fifty years in the making one of the reasons that they believe. They outnumbered the niners fans in Miami was because they have had fifty years to wait on this moment and it was all the more sweeter when it actually happened because of how it happened happened because of this incredible comeback and because of how long they've waited for this moment to happen nine talk to fans who were crying and hugging and they were with their families and they talked about their family members. Who who saw that first super bowl fifty years ago and now they have this one to hang their hat on and this super bowl forever for? We'll be there's can't believe it I'm shocked and you know we came back and waste went up toes we've been season ticket holders for twenty years. I can't describe it it's just It's you couldn't ask for that. We got to see that trophy. Welcome the ledger able to experience this incredible game firsthand and safe travels back to La. Thanks man will do it again next year in Tampa..

"To throw twice they only eat about twenty seconds off the clock at that point and for a team that was so good at clock management throughout this game for that. What kind of a call to be made on that particular drivers is really kind of questionable but You Know Chris Jones tips one of the passes on second and five and it's at that point that the stadium got louder than I heard it all night. It was at that point really that chiefs fans knew if they make this stop on third and five. They're going to get the ball right back. Patrick mahomes hands with the momentum on their side and have a real shot at coming back in this game and the chiefs do get the ball back march down the field and at this point it really just feels inevitable that they're gonNA score again and and they do that. Dr Ends with Damian Williams play where his Togo's Outta bounds right as the ball crosses the plane of the goal line. That right foot comes out of bounds. Where's the ball? And then there's a long video review the play the ruling on the field stand Kansas City officially on talk. Was this the right call. Yeah you know. That's a really hard question. Shen to answer from the replays that we saw in the stadium. It really did look like Damian Williams without literally by toenail ever slow slightly. But that's really not enough to overturn a call. That's made on the field and I'm just GonNa say you know it's really hard to get a rough to take away six points in the super bowl in the fourth quarter. So you know if I'm a niners fan. I'm I'm mad at that if I'm a chief's Fan I'm saying. Hey them's the breaks all right. So then it's twenty four twenty chiefs and the stage is set for Jimmy Garoppolo. And this is the big question on Jimmy Garoppolo drive down the field and score when it really counts announce and at first things are looking pretty. Good Yeah I mean. Let's also keep in mind that Jimmy Garoppolo for the entire first three quarters of his game. mm-hmm absolutely outplayed. Patrick Mahomes and that is a sentence. I don't think I ever expected to say this. Is You know Jimmy. Garoppolo through eight passes total in his last playoff game. So you know he really had been getting it done Up until this point now to start this Dr. They're coming out of the two minute warning from their own. Thirty five second and seven. Jimmy Garoppolo completes a huge passed a Kendrick born for sixteen yards. Now they're at the Kansas City forty nine and you're thinking man really like another huge play from Jimmy. Garoppolo could mount yet another comeback in this game and he is out of bounds near midfield the field and then there's that big third and ten play and he has Emmanuel Sanders Open Downfield Garoppolo art sanders down over but he overthrows him yet and listen we have to give Kansas. City's defense all the problems on this Dr Chris Jones with with another huge play. Another deflected pass Kendrick Fuller dives in from the side to Swat Jimmy. Garoppolo's pass away from Kendrick burned to set up third and ten and then Jimmy Garoppolo tries to go deep to Emmanuel Sanders. WHO's leading him into the end zone and just completely overthrows him? And it's a play like that where you realize. Despite how Jimmy Garoppolo had played the entire first three quarters of this game that Jimmy Garoppolo is not Patrick Mahomes and that that is a throw that you need someone like Patrick Mahomes to make right. And then the next play the forty niners don't convert on Fourth Jimmy Garoppolo get sacked and the chiefs. Get the ball back. And they get the icing on the case the second six Williams Mexico and touchstone. No Yeah Yeah Damian Williams with just the dagger through the heart at its at this point that Kansas City fans start to taste it. They know that it's real. "All right so this was an incredibly even matchup but at the end of the day a clear. Oh you're winner emerged Jaylo well and Shakira like let's let's give her due to Yemen Jaylo whatever. She's whatever over she's taking to look and move like that at fifty you know we can all take a lesson from her and And who knew she could move on a pole. It is kind of funny that you know. So how many years. After the wardrobe malfunction we now just have performers on stripper Poles. All right so let's talk about this remarkable game I What was the vibe in the stadium before kickoff? Yeah I mean listen. It's the Super Bowl right. People are excited. I will say that there were a lot more chiefs fans then niners fans and that was kind of to be expected. That's how it's been in Miami all week I think ESPN projected before the game that it was going to be sixty seven percent Kansas the city fans which would make it the most lopsided attendance in history and it really did man. It felt like achieves home game. You had the chance and you know it was a sea of red. Obviously because both nighters and she's fans where red but but chiefs fans definitely were taking over and you could tell when they did the introductory lineups? You could tell. Whenever they they showed chiefs players are coming through the tunnel the stadium which get loud And conversely a lot of booing being whenever the camera would focus on the niners. And you know we've talked a lot in the buildup to this game this week about Kobe. Bryant he just is looming over the world of sports so largely right now now and there was a beautiful tribute to him before the game began. Yeah so there was a moment of silence before America. The beautiful and national and the national anthem were song on Four Koby daughter Jonah and the other seven victims of the helicopter crash. Sure Sunday's they will never be for each of the teams Rosters were lined up on their own twenty four yard line. No Mosh to Kobe's number twenty four as the moment of silence happened and a few players were also wearing purple and gold cleats during warmups. All right so this was expected to be a close game and the first half was incredibly. Even what jumped out at you from that first half. Yeah I mean the first half was super even obviously. We went into to the second half tied at ten The first quarter kind of gave you a setup of how this of how you thought this game was going to go you know. Both teams had strong drives early San Francisco got the running game going out of the gate with deebo Samuel But despite controlling the ball for nearly six minutes in their opening drive that drive only ends in a field goal the chiefs then come back to answer with a really strong drive heavily favoring Running back Damien Williams play action was really working for them in four achieves team. Who's WHO's running game isn't nearly as strong as San Francisco's? This was pretty key for them on that particular drive third and eleven and Patrick mahomes shows off the legs he takes off off and he appears to get the first down but then he fumbles after a hard hit pushes him back. So it's now fourth and one and Andy Reid. has this decision to make. Does he go for word on further on fourth and one it's early in the game. San Francisco's defense was the best in the league. This season on stopping fourth and one And kind of going into this game you know you don't really ever know what he's GonNa do on fourth down but he ends of going for it. And it's absolutely right call Damian Williams gets the first on a short run and Patrick mahomes eventually takes it into the end zone. Himself for the touchdown and the chiefs go up seven to three and early in the second. Quarter Jimmy Garoppolo threw an interception reception and the chiefs and up on a drive with another fourth and one and they go for it again. Yeah and it ends up being the right call again now. Let's remember that Andy. He read only went for it on fourth down ten times in the regular season and here he's gone for it twice in the first twenty minutes of the game so clearly. It's the Super Bowl. He's putting everything on the table and it ends up being the right. Call it results in points. The chiefs the cheesecake field goal. And they go up ten to three okay so at this point Jimmy. Garoppolo has just throw an interception. Forty niners are struggling a bit and it looks like they need a big drive to get back into the game and they get it they did. The the very next drive is really a statement driver San Francisco. The run game really got going. The five straight strong runs including a touchdown throw. Oh a play action pass to a very unlikely hero. Kyle used check the fullback. We got a fullback touchdown in the Super Bowl who also became the first player from Harvard? Ever to score touchdown in the Super Bowl. Alright so after half time and that incredible halftime show the forty niners. You know they really at least seem to take control of this game in that. Third Quarter third touchdown. What were they doing doing so well in that third quarter you know? They were really managing to keep the chiefs defense off balance but also that niners defense. That vaunted niners defense was is really making Patrick mahomes look all out of sorts. We had never really seen him. Look this uncomfortable in this discombobulated and that's including the previous two games in the the playoffs. where the chiefs start out slow And at some point Patrick mahomes throws an interception that was just a mental error that you do not see Patrick Mahomes make right and and then early in the fourth quarter mahomes threw a second interception halls b by the forty niners yes kaelin yarns chart various more and it really felt like at that point in the game. It's twenty to ten. It's early in the fourth quarter. They've just turned over the ball. It really felt like the game was over at that. Point was that heartfelt in the stadium it absolutely did. I was sitting next to a few writers from the Palm Beach Post and at that point one of them turns to me and he just goes. This game is over. You know this forty niners defense is making Patrick. Mahomes and the chiefs offense look like they're they're in such disarray and it was really on that drive in to start the fourth quarter that it kind of looks like the chiefs might be putting something together. You know they get to the San Francisco twenty-seven and but then get sacked that brings them back to the thirty six and then on that drive he throws another interception that slightly behind tyreek Hill Goes off his hands and into at the hands of various more. And you're thinking well the chiefs just don't have an answer for this niners defense and yet we've seen this so many times. Now mahomes mm starts to orchestrate a comeback. It's almost like this guy. Plays better when his back against the wall and his team is losing and it seemed like the turning point in this game. Aim was that long past tyreek Hill. Chiefs needs some mahomes magic. I choose down the middle get it. Kansas City to picked this is going to be talked about why was tyreek Hill. This wide open on this play but this was also just a drive. That kind of woke up tyreek Hill. who had been relatively quiet for the beginning of the game? And this was a guy that was expected to be a major playmaker game changer at wide receiver for the chiefs. But Yeah my home goes deep left for forty four yards to a wide open tyreek Hill And they ended up scoring a touchdown on that drive thanks to a pass interference call all ANA passed a Travis Kelsey in the end zone that brings the ball to the one yard line And the chiefs ended up scoring a touchdown on that on that drive and suddenly the the chiefs are only down a field goal. Twenty seventeen with six thirteen left in the fourth. Right in on the forty niners next drive They basically go three and out and have to punt the ball right back to the now red hot mahomes and the chiefs and there's some questions being asked about some of the calls that Kyle Shanahan made on that drive. Yeah I think a lot of people are wondering on second and five from their own twenty five with about five and a half minutes left in the game why they're not running the ball there and and they choose.

"I don't know if he gained that much of an advantage by doing that. But there were a couple of times we had reached out and pushed off and that was a huge deal because that was points needs for them at the end of the first half when Kyle Shanahan was being very conservative. And then all of a sudden Andy Reid calls time out. Does that forty nine hundred a favor and if that place sticks it's the probably going to get a field goal was fourteen fourteen dollars Eddie. Redid Kyle Shanahan favor. Yeah fourteen yard line with six seconds to go so you you know. Maybe if they got a little crazy we'll take one shot in the end zone where there were definitely GonNa get points. How about the The coin toss will do so. Yeah so the forty niners basically deferred. Yeah benefits looks at the Kennedy. Jeez what guys wanted to get the putter and kick our butger in colquitt standing there. Mike what you guys are GonNa do. You want the ball. We walk the ball like of course. Yeah I mean I thought vish did a good job tell the Kansas City chiefs you want the ball right all screwed that up. Yeah that would have been by the way we just a little bit easier. I think that's the thing like the coin toss doesn't need need to be that hard right. Well I never did never been an issue after the Phil. Luckett thing until this year with Dak Prescott deal and now we almost had one here but yeah now I was concerned about the heads or tails nailed that tale. You now the Tell Tale so you get the chiefs The obviously You know covered the numbers and everything else but it was the under fifty one. Fifty four was the over right so the younger hit the under on the national anthem hit. It was tails Aaron Boone. In had the The numbers he tweeted out what he thought was going to be the final score teddy. Yes you got it got it spot on thirty one twenty five thirty one twenty seven digit I I was hoping for a backdoor touchdown there. Yeah I don't remember what I picked to be quite honest with you. Pick the chiefs I picked. I know but at the score I picked the chiefs into chiefs the cover but I don't remember the score. Yeah I did Patrick mahomes throwing for over three hundred yards which he did not right. That's right he did not did not go over three hundred yards passing but still one that an MVP Damian Williams is telling his grandkids it should have been him for many many years. I know you feel that way. And I know that Damian had a great game he made a beautiful run. We had a- caught the ball out of the backfield on the left side. Made a beautiful spin move but you own can tell you is at the heavy lifting them. Homes had to do when he was out there. It's it was. It was obvious for those of us. Who are the position just exactly what he was dealing with? And you just exactly what. His office of line was dealing with defensive lines. They're gonNA be good for a long time man. Those guys stay healthy. You know they're going to be right back in the middle of the playoffs next year. Maybe next year they get their super bowl. I don't know Super Bowl hangover. Man The other thing too is a years Patrick mahomes new contract common short and this will be interesting to see how it impacts their salary cap. And how many players are are gonNA have to be lopped off from their team knows our caps going to go up ten million. I don't know right now. They're paying him. Probably he's probably making about fifteen million. Think yeah I I mean Kansas City Might need taxpayer money to help with this thing. I mean my God. Don't need taxpayer. I can't imagine how they're selling out. Every they're going to sell out out every game. I understood a sell out every sweet those sell out every possible sponsorship. I leave me because of that young. Of course it was just being facetious. And it's going to be a very large large number all right boomer and Geo on the fan and CBS sports network. "chiefs" Discussed on The Lead
"Can you give us a little bit of color about what what's going on in Kansas City city right now Howard chiefs fans feeling right now. I mean they've never they've never felt this before it's fifty years. It's been fifty years years. Since the Kansas City chiefs were last in Super Bowl. It was nineteen seventy gasps. Thirty six cents a gallon and the Beatles announced that they were breaking up. Yeah it's been a long time. I mean the only thing that fans no all they know is sorrow heartbreak in like suffering to be fan is to actually suffer and the chiefs are going to go home in the postseason again. Oh for eight in the last eight post-season Games for Kansas City and that of course changed when the team hired Andy Reid. They drafted Patrick mahomes in two thousand seventeen the superstar quarterback that is the reigning. MVP Lee the trouble get to insist in starting something new which is like going back to the Super Bowl and that I think is one of the more enriching parts of this experience for the city. As a whole whether it's the Mayor Mayor Quinton or is just somebody that you know. What the local coffee official? Everyone is experiencing it the same way just because they've never seen it before. And the idea that Andy Reid May finally win the Big One. Here's a guy that's football fans there's no and I think to a large extent the American culture knows just because he's been around so long so if he wins the Super Bowl and the city does it What a way for the city to sort of experiences together along with coach that I think is already got a hall of fame resume but that will sort of solidify and put him in an echelon of coaches that? He's never obviously entered before four. So Andy Reid comes to Kansas City seven years ago. I've been in this league long time now and in particular Ed football coach the fan base here is phenomenal There's nothing like the man. There's nothing like it. What's been his impact on the chiefs? Since he took over. Oh man he changed everything everything and he got fired from Philadelphia after a long tenure. Clark hunt the owner of the chiefs was just like I will do whatever it takes for you to come. I'm changed my football team. He has complete control the Organization the General Manager Brad. Vh used to work. Under Andy Reid Philadelphia and then I think the ultimate assignment that Andy Andy Reid. was find the next great quarterback and so in two thousand seventeen that she traded a large part of their future in order to move up seventeen spots in the draft to take Patrick Mahomes ten pick in the two thousand seventeen. NFL Draft Kansas City chiefs. Select Patrick Mahomes. The second is Patrick. Mahomes the second Dr Shawn Watson. Net was the apple of the re- Dorsey I in Kansas. The city now Patrick Mahomes with someone who was considered a talented player but was not considered the best player in that draft just because he was turnover prone he played for Texas tech which is not one of the darlings of college football. This kid might not work out. I've seen this type before we've seen it and you know what I'm talking about very strong possibility. You might work out. So I'm not taking that risk here's Owned by actually bamboozling and fooling half the Li they went out and got the most talented player in the draft with the number ten pick. So what did it Andy. Reid see in Pat. Mahomes that none of these other teams did what they saw with. Someone who had elite Armstrong Flows Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes is a Chechen Patrick mahomes skin throw it put to every space on the field. If you need a seventy yard past he can throw you seventy yard pass. If you need a fifteen yard pass through defenders. He can get the ball talk to that person on time on the direct line accent. It's the second straight play. Look at the magic adjective the quarterback just out dance throws it like no look. I mean that's that's a credit and for any read. He understood that he could change his entire offense of game plan. If you have a quarterback who's capable of doing this now all these teams maybe. They had a head coach. who was not how willing to take such a risk? Maybe they had no manager who could not foresee that Andy Reid as a different mindset. Insane not only can this guy wins the game but he can unhelped dominate team. But honestly could anyone have expected Patrick Mahomes to be this good this quickly. He was the MVP last year in in what was basically his first year as a starting quarterback the answer I can give a I think are twofold Alex Smith the former quarterback of the cheese. He's should not be lost in history for what he did for Patrick Mahomes. But here's this young shot kid who's going to be under your manners like teach them how to Mike. Replace Your essence. And that's what they ask. Alice moves to do and Alex Smith was wise enough and secure enough and clearly wash. Patrick Mahomes in practice ascend was like. Oh yeah okay like I. I don't need to stunt this guy's growth and when it was time for the two trait out Smith away to the Washington redskins skins he had given mahomes essentially eleven months work of an internship or an apprenticeship that allowed him to be successful for me. Having that guy like Alex in front me who was a great guy who did all the right things and was a true professional helped me learn how to kind of prep and have a lot of success in the NFL. I mean I give them a lot the credit that he kind of took me in and showed me the roads in the second part of this answer as like how could anybody he was ever GonNa be this good during practice is he had a year to do whatever he wanted. which is like hey get creative be improvisational do things that a coach would necessarily tell you what to do? But let's see if it works and if it works Andy. Reid is a wise enough man and say hey. Maybe we should use that. When you're the quarterback one day someday one of I've been accepted accepted to go out there and be who I am for me like I said I've been putting a great situation and maximizing every single day it takes foresight it takes conviction and obviously belief from an entire entire organization to say? Wow they let him do things in practice that a net that a normal. NFL player does not get to Alex. Smith taught him and the chiefs gave him freedom up to figure out what was actually possible before he ever played a game. What are some of the criticisms? Andy Reid is faced over the years. He has been somewhat complicated in in terms of managing the clock there. The last time Andy Reid was in a super bowl. The Philadelphia Eagles competed with the New England patriots but they fell behind and they took too long in terms of their rally in terms of their comeback. Think you gotta be careful about running the ball right now. I think what Andy has shown throughout the game trying to stay balanced even when they've not gotten a lot out of their running game I think at this stage of the ball game. You've got to start being a little bit more aggressive with your play calling. Always kind of been a knock on him since he left. Philadelphia was like Hey I don't know how to handle a tight game in the fourth. Quarter for Andy. Reid is just. Hey the biggest System is we always a great coastal. Why hasn't he won a super bowl but but for the first time I think in his career he will interest super bowl with the better quarterback and Patrick Mahomes? You've also talked about the way in which Patrick mahomes and Andy Reid complete each other. Yes in offense of meanings Andy. Reid was sort of suggests something at Patrick Mahomes. We're what complete Andy Reid. Senses and Patrick has told me before that with Andy Reid calls a play Atra mahomes already knows it and so when he hears a play. Call from Andy Reid through Eric Office coordinator. It's like yes I already know and now I know exactly what to do. A coach can the super bowl without a quarterback quarterback cannot be his best version of himself without a creative and empowering head coach. These two men are. You're going to be forever linked to one another I believe in NFL history. They are married Infobahn matrimony from this day forth.
