"After the house. Select committee investigating the january. Sixth attack held its first hearing four. Police officers who responded to the scene gave vivid accounts sometimes in graphic detail about what happened. I remember thinking there was a very good chance. I would be torn apart or shot to death with my own weapon one latched onto my face and got us thumb in my right eye attempting to gouge it out. A set down on the bench in the rotunda with a friend of mine was also black capital police officer and told them about the racial slurs. I endured i was more afraid to work at the capitol in mind tie deployment to iraq. The voices of dc metropolitan police officers michael known and daniel hodges and capitol police officers harry done and aca lino grenell. Npr justice correspondent. ryan lucas. Listen to all of it and joins us now. Hi ryan morton as we heard. It was an intense day of testimony. What stood out the most to you. Let it wasn't emotional day for the officers testifying and the lawmakers on the panel but it was also very visceral. The testimony put listeners and viewers into the shoes of these four police officers in what they experienced on january. Sixth here's michael phenomenon of dc metropolitan. Police i was beaten taste all while be called a traitor to my country. I was at risk of being stripped of and killed with my own firearm. As i heard chance of kill him with his own gun i could still hear those words in my head today. The officers talked about how the mob attacked them with police. Shields and batons sledgehammers flagpoles. Metal bars rocks really anything that they could put their hands on and there was also the verbal abuse as we heard from capitol police officer harry dunn. Who is black and said. He was repeatedly called the n. Word by the mob so all four of these officers that we heard from were were quite blunt about the physical and psychological trauma of january sixth and the lingering after effects from it and it sounds like their testimony refuted at least two claims. We've heard that the writers were unarmed. And that they were peaceful they did and they also shot down conspiracy theories that it was antiga or black lives matter or the fbi who actually staged the attack on the capital. The officers said the mob that attacked the capital was made up of trump's supporters. Many of the writers told the the officers on january six that trump had sent them to the capital. One other thing that struck me was the frustration that the officers expressed towards republican lawmakers. Who are trying to downplay whitewash. The events of january six here's officer g- inelegant and now the same people who. We helped the same people who we gave them the borrow. Time to get to safety now. They attacking us attacking characters. What comes next year. Ryen with this committee investigation. That's good question. The committee has not said yet. Who else they want to talk to whether they'll call them. Members of congress to testify including house minority leader kevin mccarthy or even members of the trump white house like former chief staff mark meadows subpoena. A former white house official would likely face legal challenge and get tied up in the courts but the chairman of the committee democrat. Bennie thompson has said the pale may try to hold. Its next hearing as soon as next month..

"Concern and What do you see happening with Mitchell Connell and bite and you feel there's going to be some kind of a relief package specifically for certain industries and how it will affect the markets. If it does, it won't come for two or three months. I think that's the real of expectation now. On its again. I think it's a situation that many people shouldn't be surprised about. I mean, we've seen a lot of the rhetoric in the back and forth. For the last three months between House Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the White House who's largely represented by Mark Meadows. The chief staff, Mark Meadows and Treasure Secretary Steven Yushin. They never got anywhere s Oh, maybe there's better luck involving Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. I think there's going to be an eye of what's happening in Georgia. So I think there's that dynamic also s O. There's a different set of variables at play here but again And as you mentioned, you specifically mentioned the leisure hospitality space or a part of the one subdivision or subsector of lead Ross Palace space restaurants. You have to imagine right now, if you were able to survive the first round of closures, and we know eight out of 10 survived so but we lost 20%. You figure that those eight out of 10 that survived Bled through whatever savings they had exactly going, Can they withstand? We know where at the front door of another big man worry that right? The big wave Now it's just a matter of putting restrictions in the place. And maybe those restrictions getting tougher and certain areas of the country are starting to see that now, if they don't have any capital buffers left, then they just close on D. I think what we realized, I think what a lot of Macro bait or macro strategy or macro economists really misunderstood. Was how much leisure and hospitality jobs make up the American economy and certainly had about 80% of business is deemed non essential. And this is going back to the 1st march wave of closures. 80% of businesses were deemed non essential. Meaning you don't go to the office? You are not allowed to go to work. You have to work from home If you kind of work, 80% Non essential and a lot of that was leisure and hospitality. Certainly we would be very sensitive to another downturn again. We've already quoted total small business revenue. A lot of that is leisure and hospitality again. We're off and as of a week and a half ago, we were off. 32.1% from January. 32. I think. I mean, this is top line revenue. This is the bottom line grab. This is that she's just people coming in the door. And you think where we were in July? We were off by about 23%. That was one of the better numbers that we have. So that just shows you dear the teach the Hall that we've seen the deterioration from July August where we were down on off by 25% from January. Now we're down to 32%. That's that's decreasing. That is a negative trend line. That is not good, and he's at a time in the stock market is saying, Hey, look, everything's fine with us. You know, we're gonna go ahead and push all time highs. Again. I think there is a very telling picture. I know the stock market is always supposed to look into the future and it's a discounting mechanism. But everything has a right now. The vaccine Yes, it will come. But it's not going to come for the vast majority of Americans for at least 8 to 10 months. At a minimum, There's still a lot of carnage. It can happen between now and then. Well, young, even Disney. Now they're gonna be cutting back another 68,000 jobs, and they've already literally written off all of 2021 to a big get back up to normal again. So what's the latest on the jobs front that you see out there? Right? And I think this is probably one of the most worrisome parts in regards to the jobs report because now we're starting to notice that do duration. The jobless claims again. We've now noticed two weeks in a row of initial jobless claims, increasing Obviously, this is not good, total unemployment claims. Had risen now upto 20.5 million and that that just factors in the traditional benefits with the pandemic with the gig worker, the Pandemic unemployment program, which is set to expire at the end of December. On DSA. So you have a lot of different moving parts right now, In regards the labor market again. We're talking about business closures of business. Revenue is down. They're not going to hire people. And subsequently what do we noticing? We're noticing the amount of job postings starting to fall. So you have this very negative situation that hasn't fully played out yet, which is people are getting laid off. People are continually getting laid off. General Ledger just announced another batch of layoffs from their aviation division was they don't foresee travel picking up for another two years. There's no demand for their products. Onto general. It's just announced again, actually, in this case, their third round layoffs this year, So we have layoffs still happening at a time when business revenue is down and declining. Job postings subsequently to that are declining. So what happens to all those people if there is a declining amount of jobs available? Plus, people are getting laid off with the already historically high amount of people looking for work, in addition to that, and historically high amount of people who have just stopped looking for work. You know, A lot of people called the unemployment rate being in the 78% range, but it's highly misleading. That does not account the millions and millions and millions of Americans who just stopped looking for employment. Whether they had to stay home from work and take care of their kids. Because school closed there could be a host of different reasons. But those people who are not looking for work do not count as a part of labor Force, which makes the unemployment rate artificially. Well. Yeah, the situation labor market is much uglier than I think. People realize. Oh, absolutely. I mean, I'm looking at the Christmas season here. I just noticed we're Amazon. They're having a hard time hiring enough people to get through the Christmas rush. We're actually offering a $3000 signing bonus to work through the holiday season. And it's because people are.

"Senate Republicans could push Supreme Court nominee Amy Cockney Barrett's vote through without Democratic support on the floor as soon as today, Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut says Republicans are moving forward in an unprecedented brunch rush. What's happening today is sad. Surreal, even shocking eight days away from an election. Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama, believes at this time I consider Judge Amy Cockney Bharat to be the most qualified Supreme Court nominee that I've encountered in my 34 years in the United States. Senate Republicans are expected to vote this evening. Barrett could be sworn in soon after White House chief of staff. Mark Meadows is doubling down on his statement to CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday when he said that the Trump administration cannot control the Corona virus pandemic but rather focus on therapeutics and a vaccine. We're going to defeat the virus. We're not going to control it. Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says he wasn't surprised by the chief of staff's comments. When the chief's staff Mark Meadows, announced that they were throwing in the mask of throwing in the towel on trying to stop this pandemic. It really was a revelation. I mean, we've known this for a long, long time. They're looking for the miracle vaccine and, frankly, don't want to engage in the very basics to avoid infection and subsequent death. This is the very basic just wearing a mask. However, Meadows says President Trump does not give up and he's not going to give up until all Americans are safe and the virus has been defeated. You know him. He doesn't give up and.

"It really is a matter of life or death. The full Senate is expected to confirm Judge Amy Cockney Barrett to the Supreme Court today. Barrett's confirmation will give conservatives 6 to 3 majority on the court. His Barrett fills the seat of the late Liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer blasted Republicans for bypassing Cove in 19 relief to vote on barrettes nomination They're willing to ignore the nation's testing needs. Also, they can put someone on the highest court. Who would take health care away from millions of Americans in the middle. Of a pandemic. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blasted Democrats for assuming that Barrett will decide things negatively. If she becomes a Supreme Court justice. They say they aren't interested whether Judge Barrett will smartly and faithfully apply our laws in our constitution. There are not should not Still, they want to make apocalyptic predictions. Polls show most of America thinks the next president should be the one to fill Ginsberg seat. Barrett is likely to be sworn in later today or tomorrow. President Trump's chief of staff, Mark Meadows, has told CNN that the United States is not going to control the pandemic and should instead focus solely on therapeutics and a vaccine within all. US Senator Dick Durbin, responding when chief staff Mark Meadows announced that they were throwing in the mask of throwing in the towel on trying to stop this pandemic. It really was a revelation. I mean, we've known this for a long, long time. They're looking for the miracle vaccine and, frankly, don't want to engage in the very basics to avoid infection and subsequent death. This is a very basic, just wearing a mask have been also said given that five people in vice president Pence's enter circle, including his chief of staff have tested positive for the virus. Pen should not attend tonight's Supreme Court confirmation vote on Amy Cockney Barrett. As a matter of safety. A surge of Corona virus infections has started to overwhelm hospitals in parts of the US country reported a new record of 83,000 daily cases over the weekend. Eight states also set single day case records. The U. S could see more than 500,000 Covad 19 deaths by the end of February. That's the grim prediction from the researchers at University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. If everyone committed to wearing a mask, however, the study suggests 130,000 of those deaths could be avoided. President Trump continuing to insist the U. S is getting closer to the end of Corona virus pandemic. We are coming around. We're rounding the turn. We have the vaccines. We have everything.

"Race is tightening the latest Fox News poll shows. The president is leading divided by three points in Ohio but trailing Biden by 12 points in Michigan. He's also trailing Biden by five points in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. But that is a more narrow gap. Then it was just last month. Voters in these states mostly trust the president to handle the economy better than Biden. But they trust Biden moron handling of the virus in each state. Women, especially suburban women, support Biden by wide margins, while rural voters and white men without college degrees support President Trump and in each of these states, far more voters who insist on voting in person are voting for the president, while far more voting by mail say they're going for Biden. Jessica Rosenthal, Fox News, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says they're getting closer is talks continue with the administration toward another Corona virus. Economic stimulus Bill White House chief Staff Mark Meadows. There continues to be a number of differences, but we've entered a new phase where we're actually looking at some of the technical language I met with senators on Capitol Hill. Many of those senators a real concern with some of the policy differences we have. In addition to the money, smaller, targeted relief bill failed to pass the Senate yesterday when most Democrats refused to support it. "Student loans through the end of the year protect renters from being a from their homes and instruct employers to defer certain payroll taxes through the end of the year for Americans, who earn less than one hundred, thousand dollars annually. Trump said he decided to act on his own and order the benefits after two weeks of negotiations with congressional Democrats class without an agreement on a new krona virus relief package we've had it. He said, we're going to save American jobs and provide relief to the American worker but questions remain as to whether trump has the legal authority to take these actions or the money to pay for them So it's there's still stuff up in the air but congress and the White House had struggled a reconciled Democrats three point four, trillion dollar corona relief plan and Senate Republicans far smaller one point one, million, dollar proposal we're talking trillions not billions not millions. Trillions of dollars. Two trillion dollars to whether a trillion dollars. "Not just the national headlines. He's on top of the local stories to this's The Buck Sexton Show on 7 10 W. O R. Well, Trump send in the feds here, so to speak. He said he might do it in New York. We'll talk about it. Doctor found G vouch He's out there. Doctor found, she says New York is the cove ID 19 response model for the rest of the country, and I have to talk to you about that quite a bit. Portland and Seattle. See a bunch of lunatics destroying lots of stuff. These lunatics are also known as Democrats. You have an assassination attempt on a federal judge that killed her son and almost killed her husband right in New Jersey. I've got updates for you on that. And then if we've got time Chief staff. Mark Meadows is saying that he expects indictments in the Durham probe of the Russia collusion farce. But first I've got a breaking news update for you. I don't think you've heard about this anywhere else. But you may remember the story. Of the McCloskey's in ST Louis. On this really hit home for a lot of people because at a time when there are massive protests across the country that often devolved into violence, mob violence, looting, arson. Mob assault. Oh, it happens. We've seen the videos. You won't hear very much about it on the news. But it does happen. We know that People have been killed. Because of these mob protests, it has already occurred. But you will recall the McCloskey's of ST Louis were Threatened with murder in their own home. They're eating dinner. They had protestors screaming that they were going to kill them and burn down their house. And the McCloskey's responded because their lawful gunowners By going outside their home. And the husband had a semiautomatic rifle. The wife had a pistol, and they let the protesters know in no uncertain terms. They were not going to burn down their house and kill anybody in their family, at least not without a fight. Well, some of us were expecting the Democrat Prosecutor here, the Democrat district attorney in ST Louis Would sure enough. Take it upon herself to show everybody what we've all Morel s expected up to this point. What we've been assuming was the case. But now now we know Democrat prosecutors want everyone across the country to know that you must submit Two threats of murder and arson in your own home from a BLM mob just outside your door. And if you show any signs of resistance, they will weaponize the law to ruin. And imprison you. That's the circum. That's the circumstance in which we find ourselves. That's where we are right now. I knew that they were likely to be charged. I do the on ly really criticism of this that I have heard that I agree with. I wish Mrs Mcclosky had a little more muzzle discipline is you should not be waving around her gun in the way that she was. I don't think she knew any better. The husband seemed to have a better understanding of that. Part of the issue. But they're charging both of them with a felony here. They're charging. And you would think that if you were terrified and try to defend your home that maybe the prosecutors would have some sympathy. In that circumstance for the lawful homeowners. Remember, there's an allegation, at least of destruction of property and trespassing that the mob was engaged at the time. And I've heard what these mobs yella cops. I've heard what they yell at people walking past them on the street who aren't Also a part of the You know the lunatic march that's often going on with people screaming profanity and obscenity at cops and police, So I know what the mood and temperament Of some of these marches. Some of these mobs are I don't find it the least bit surprising that they would be yelling epithets and threats. To homeowners who are in a mansion in ST Louis, right, this this really strikes all the social justice, warrior class warfare. Touchpoints here. This is the stuff that gets them particularly upset off. Look at this couple in their gilded mansion. Let's terrified them. Tonight. I have a prosecutor there who's decided to bring felony charges. Now, here's what's already come out about this. And this. This is just breaking news. Last hour, So from what I could see You have the prosecutors saying that her that she's open that her office is open to a diversion program. A diversion program here, meaning that the door is already wide open. For these two for the McCloskey's to avoid any really prosecution. Any time in prison. They just have to admit. That they were wrong. That's all they have to do. This is from circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardener. This is that's the woman who brought the charges today. My office filed charges against Mark and Patricia McCloskey following an incident involving peaceful unarmed protesters on June 28th. It is illegal to waive weapons in a threatening manner at those participating a nonviolent protest, And while we are fortunate this situation had not escalated to deadly force. This type of conduct is unacceptable in ST Louis. I'm open to recommending them across keys participate in one of my officers diversion programs that are designed to reduce unnecessary involvement with the courts. I believe this would serve as a fair resolution to this matter. We must protect the right to peacefully protest and any attempt to chill it through. Intimidation will not be tolerated. As I mentioned in my initial statement about protecting the rights of protesters, this was not the only disturbing incident that occurred that weekend, I issued charges against an individual who assaulted peaceful demonstrators. At the King Louis the 14th statue on June 27th. I am open to recommending diversion in this case is well, basically, if you want to know what's going on here. This is just about getting an admission of wrongdoing. This is politics from Kimberly Gardener. This is a Democrat politician posing as a prosecutor. Letting all the BLM protesters all the antifa lunatics. All the anti cop rioters. The statue, top lawyers across the country know The Democrat prosecutors are on your side. We will back you up. We will do what is necessary to support you even when you're threatening people. Even when you are always operating, under at least the possibility. Of physical coercion of violent threats. Don't worry the Democrat Party up to and including those who were entrusted with enforcing the law as prosecutors supposed to be a political that's a joke. They just want admissions of wrongdoing. Anyone who stands up against this mob must be humiliated and must be made to bend the knee to send a message to all the rest. Send a message to you. You better not think that's in the tri state area. If you have another one. Do you think that we've seen the last night of looting here? You think you've seen the last angry mob Democrats think this stuff is great. Makes everybody on edge makes the country miserable makes people less likely to want a continuation of what we're seeing, which means they're less likely to vote for Donald Trump. So they really care about Positive for the elite predominantly white lives who cheer this on in the media. For them. It's a great opportunity to show how woke they are how social justice where they are. Will stand for this even when they have to. Just pretend That any normal person could call any mostly peaceful protest. I would want to know when has it become a mostly violent protest? What's the threshold for that? If there are 10 protesters who aren't breaking things and attacking people and structures and 90 who are is that still a mostly is there a mathematical formula is that a mostly peaceful protest? 50 50 One of the great Orwellian terms of our.
