Anzu's Plan to Evolve In-Game Advertising with CEO Itamar Benedy
"Any of these Sports networks other properties on this episode of the E Sports Network podcast for bringing back a gasp from about a year ago wage a little more bonetti. He's the co-founder and CEO of on zoo in a more. Welcome back to the Shelf. Hey meets great to be here tomorrow is on the show back in February of 2020 where we discussed the growth of in-game advertising age people who miss that show or too many of our new listeners since then on to his a platform that makes it easier for braids to get into video game worlds and for developers to open up more potential White spaces in their games for Grants Pass. I'll do is work with Publishers like Ubisoft at lide Castle to deliver Brayden moments for major. It's like Samsung Pepsi American Eagle and many more Esports. We've seen it gave ads take Auto larger role especially patiently League of Legends open up space in summoner's Rift and it was filled by MasterCard an Alienware among other partners and just this morning as a record this on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 rocket League announced that Ford is going to take over there it gave Billboards for the upcoming which are major on zoo also had a big adults with this what the platform recently raised nine million dollars in additional capital in around Kool-Aid buyback Fetchers and hbse Ventures. There is participation by plenty more investors, of course, including Mark Merrill, one of the two founders of Riot games, this follows two other funny raises of three and five million. So in Mark Gratz of the race, first of all, what are the plans for this capital? Yeah, thank you Mitch. So as you said we raised 9 million dollars beatcraft is one of our previous investors are still leading gaming Esports v c. B c is a new VC which comes from the sport world and a lot of touchpoints around gaming and then other investors are wpp the biggest advertising group in the world, which is also like in the existing investor and Sony Innovation fund, you know, Sony is one of the biggest gaming groups in the world and the owner of PlayStation. So that's a privilege to have them on board Mark Romero the founder and chairman of road games on League of Legends. As you mentioned didn't call ins the founder and CEO of super awesome that recently got acquired by epic games and the Chicago Cubs. Yeah, the baseball team go Ventures and gainesville's and illumine Adventures. So a very crowded and exciting structure of invest investors to have on board. I'm a Cardinals fan so we'll let the dog So invested things slide, I guess but grats on all the different people who came together you mentioned before we started recording you were in the position that every founder kind of hopes. They find themselves in which is we have a few people. We have a different options for Capital so we can pick the people that make the most strategic sense for us going forward. What did you find from the mobile the different investors? What were you looking for? Especially as guiding parts of the company to push it Forward? Sure. So I mean, you know what this round was not about it was not about as fast as we could have fine as it like very very fast as what it was about bringing the best structure. Number one number two, it was about, you know to maximize shareholder value. We could raise almost double the amount but we didn't want to make sense. This is the amount of cash we need for next stage Rose and then in the future if it's a year from now or two years from now we can do another round off. For that makes sense. So we were not looking at at you know, these things it was more about we have a lot of confidence in him. Advertising is going to become a major business model for game divorce across all platforms, through PC Mobile and an important ads category four Brands media agencies and the ESPYs and and the question is how fast can that happen or more sneaking about big Brands big Publishers not easy companies to convince them to do something new. So when we meet partners that can help us to make this happen faster than wages. Are we get excited one form to partner is again investment one is a strategic partnership and they can elaborate more of some of the Partnerships we have in place and some of them is people who join our team. So that was what was guiding us and looking at the different, you know buckets of we are investors came from there is some you know, some like VCS and financial institutions. There is advertising and groups. There is game. Groups and there is a sports organizations that have a lot of touch point in going to become an important overlap in my opinion the next two years. And of course there is like with the values that we want to group represents and communicate us companies gauges as the leading investor for equal opportunity and Which choice for us an important to him and announcement to basically said if the world that was how we were looking at it that's a great place to be at
P.E. Teacher Becomes Full-Time Sports Gear Reseller
"Today in our latest feature will hear from a teacher who buys and resells sports gear. I love to look at stories of simple reselling. Because as i said simple. These are very simple projects. That are important to highlight. Because it's something that most people can do if you're out there and you're like totally new to the whole world. This is a great thing to jump into. I think The guy we're going to hear from. Today matt his total startup cost with something like one hundred dollars actually makes his first profit by selling his own stuff like his own. Jerseys kind of reminds me how. I was selling my own items from around my apartment more than twenty years ago when i got into this kind of thing and eventually for him. He ends up going all in with. This action retires from teaching to focus on his re-selling dig his businesses. Going really. well he's doing up to eight thousand dollars a month or so. He's managed this all throughout the pandemic of course so he's got some good lessons about time management etc. Now we. I heard from matt nearly two years ago in the original story Let's now hear directly from him. And i'll come back at the end. Perhaps share a story or two from my own re-selling years little quick trip down memory lane along with some advice for you. If you'd like to get into this to no matter how much you sell ship station makes it super easy to manage ship your orders from all your sales channels faster cheaper and more efficiently. They have been helping many of our listeners. For four years now ship station you'll spend a lot less time on shipping a lot more time growing your business in no matter where you sell amazon oetzi. You're on website. They can funnel all your orders into one simple interface service from a great company. That as i said i know has helped a lot of our listeners. You can ship more or less time with the offer code hustle. Get your sixty day free trial. That is two months free of no hassle stress free shipping. All you gotta do is go to ship. Station dot com. Click the microphone at the top and type in hustle that is ship station com offer code hustle. Make shit happen. My name's matthew myers. We are located in indianapolis indiana on the north side of town. My side hustle from seven. Twenty seven was kevin's lockouts instill as epa clubhouse side. Hustle is a resale sports in store. So i essentially. I had goodwill's stores scrap sales markets and then essentially resell gently used sports fan gear. And it's pretty much anything ranging from palace pros From both ear to cycling ear to winter jackets could be anything from maki North face to to the old nineteen ninety a starter jacket. Everybody has the chicago bulls one that we all grew up more so i always try to find the brand. The brand names let everyone tries to buy but off discount and then obviously compared to larger with nike and medicine and things like that. So essentially i just i go to stores deal mainly for stores buy low sell high and try to offer big products to people and it seems to save to be working where people are always gonna be wearing that either to a game and obviously you really go into games right out. During a pandemic people like wearing that stuff going on their favorite team. I started this back in two thousand seventeen of between teaching jobs. I left my previous school for a new teaching opportunity. But i was also unemployed needed cash so i kinda just sold things on the side that i wasn't using it like an old jersey so i sold an old chicago cubs jersey for seventy bucks tonight. Said well you know. Maybe maybe something to this. So i'm going to sell an i. I probably had thirty forty jerseys. I want i sold them. Georgia this cycle a mortgage. And i was like okay. Well they sold pretty quick. You know maybe maybe this is something. I can actually take off and run with and actually create business but you know between north korea and mainly will be clothes. I've been able to manage to make profit enough where i can officially retired from teaching. And make this slimane hustle. I before i left. I needed to see the numbers on my end of a meghan. You know five six thousand a month okay. You know sales growth sales. So i knew that i was it. Was it was a good enough jump to to try to make this full-time gig. And i'm lucky to last year's at it has even with my biggest challenge right now is that now. It's time time time though is going to be a challenge. I think i think a lot of people will tell you that My my i love working at night. And i'm kind of like a night out precise so i'll let you everything done late at night. Then as morning hits you know it's hard to get up at seven eight o'clock and try to figure out you know. Hey i need to get all this stuff done before. I don't know four and get my orders out so just trying to be more productive trying to be better on my time. Let's old spent my biggest challenge and going into this year. I wanted to really make make that my project per se of like you know what it's time to get up. It's time to be productive. It's time to get to the stores. The fun part about all this is that you can go on thrift and you can go and find all the stuff. The hard part is get it all up getting listed getting measured and then getting shipped out with someone. That's that's always the nasa art so just trying to balance both has been tough but again realizing that this is my full time job like there is no teaching job anymore. They're in snow. Kindergarteners coming in for p. Like just to be completely focused on everything. I think so far it's only been seven days of twenty-three one pasha thank you so much matt really appreciate that update So glad to know what's going so well you've been able to make it your full-time gig check out. Matt's shop it's kevin's clubhouse dot
2021 Could Be the Year of the 'Fringe Guys' for the Chicago Cubs
"As you look at twenty twenty one. There's there's a lot of open spots on the cubs dance card. So if you're one of those younger guys if you're tyson miller if your brain marquez you know some of those prospects right now who are teetering on the edge. How do you feel about twenty twenty one and what your outlook. Because there's potential for a starting position right there to grab. Yeah this this has got to be excitement right like you. You have to be excited that you have your windows. I mean one. Everyone's seen the moves everyone sees the openings that are on this roster and if you're like tyson miller tomorrow vargas these guys who are you might have been fringe guys If the if there hadn't been any big trades from the cup side now they're looking at. Hey maybe i can go. Starting at second base may start feel maybe it can be the fourth starter. The fifth star. Whatever on this team. This is your window and this is your opportunity. Take it so you know there. You know that motivations higher than it normally would have been not to say that it wasn't high before but it's even higher now

Marlins Name Kim Ng MLB's First Female General Manager
"Huge story today from the world of Sports. The first we have a first Ah Qiming. Who has worked in baseball. Dating back to 1990. She was an intern with the Chicago White Sox. And then she was an assistant general manager with the New York Yankees, And she was insistent general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and she's been interviewing and interviewing, interviewing, and today she became the first general manager. Was a female. Who is also Asian. All of it in Major league baseball history. She's gonna be kind of work for the Miami Marlins. Now I was thinking like Did I probably not gonna be able to get Kim on the air tonight because, you know You might be a little bit busy, but you know, the Chicago Cubs have a Rachel holding. And Rachel was a stud softball player, and she has been with the Cubs now. Ah! As a hitting structure in the minor leagues, and she does a lot of technical stuff. And so I reached out and she was happy to come on. She's tweeting about the happy she was for Cam and she joins us now, Rachel, I know this was an absolutely huge day for you for for Kim for the industry as a whole. Oh, yeah, of course. I mean, I know Kim personally, So you know, no one is more deserving of this job, and all you have to do is look at her resume toe understand that she's Probably overqualified in in a lot of ways, just really, really happy for her proud of the Marlins. Just pretty exciting stuff. Were you expecting this to happen? Once you heard that she was interviewed like this has got to be the one I didn't know she was interviewing. I actually, um maybe I just didn't follow it too closely, But I know her journey has put her in an assistant GM position. A few times, So I figure any time there's a GM opening. She should be considered for it So, but I didn't know she was interviewing personally, But so it was, like a total surprise for me, and I kind of dig it. Yeah, For sure. Like just for those who don't know Kim's career path. Just Ah. Thumbnail shot of it. She was an intern with the Chicago White Sox that started back in 1990. Then she became an assistant general manager for the Yankees and 98 left New York to go to the Dodgers in 2001, as in the same position. Then she interviewed to be the GM for the first time in 2005. Ned Colletti got that gig. And now it's been 15 years trying to become a GM. And here she is, What do you aspire to in the game, right? So you got a sweet position right now. But if you know, 10 years out, if you could pick something, any idea what it would be You know, I get this question a lot. I think with the way that the baseball season has gone first, I'd like to get a full year of baseball under my belt. No without a pandemic or anything else kind of derailing that, but You know, my my passion has always just been being in the cage and influencing players. And so you know, both of those things I'm very, you know, fortunate to have the position that I have right now because it allows me to both of those things. As for where I go from here, I mean, as long as I'm not sitting behind a desk and I get to be interacted with the players and put a uniform on and be in the cage. I think that's zef innately where I wanna be.

Justin Turner celebrates Dodgers' World Series-clinching win on field despite mid-game positive COVID-19 test
"Jeff Passan you are somewhere in Arlington Texas right now it is one thirty eight am eastern time. So where exactly are you and I guess what's the last hour of your life been like? I don't know where I am right now Jeff. Passan covers baseball for ESPN and has been unbanned from this podcast after planting the Randy Arosa Raina Song in all of our brains last week. I'm I'm living in I'm living in Corona virus hell right now because I- Pablo I've been covering baseball for seventeen years now I have seen the Boston Red Sox win their first world series eighty, six I've seen the Chicago cubs win their first world series in one, hundred, eight years and I'm not sure that I've seen anything is crazy as what happened after the Los Angeles dodgers won their first world series in thirty two years tonight I mean let's get right into this then because what was the weirdest baseball season ever has ended with the weirdest world series after ever say and there's a great game to dissect here but. It's really hard to bury the lead of Justin, Turner the dodgers star Third Baseman getting pulled some time after his third at bat in that game because he had apparently tested positive for covert, and then a bunch of other stuff happened Jeff and that's where you come in. So what the Hell happened I was scrambling as all of this was going on Pablo because Fox, right after the dodgers won the world series announce on their broadcast that Justin Turner had tested positive for Covid nineteen but we started this show is some breaking news after the completion the game tonight we are informed by Major League baseball that Justin Turner received a positive Cova test. That's why he was removed from the game. We have no other details at this time I get the word that, yes, he had tested positive and the way that the story was told to me was that Major League baseball does one corona virus tests per day four players who were in the bubble and for family members and everybody else. That test from Monday got SENT TO THEIR LAB IN UTAH. The tests were run and they came back late that and Turner's tests was the only one that was inconclusive and as the inconclusive result for Justin, Turner had come back right around that same time the tests from today that had been taken had arrived in Utah. Now, they were getting ready to spin the sample of Justin, Turner from Monday to to retest it and see if there were. Any different results, but they said, forget that test, the one that came in today the results came back in about two hours around the seventh inning at which point a positive had been confirmed and immediately Major League Baseball was informed of this called. The Los Angeles dodgers. It was fed into the dugout and Justin Turner was pulled from the game and told to isolate. Justin Turner. Did Not isolate and that's and that's that's the part Pablo that I think so many people are going to remember from this. The very odd seen on the field where Justin Turner at one point is taking a team picture with the Los Angeles dodgers and he's sitting next to Dave Roberts his manager who also was not wearing a mask can who is a cancer survivor? After he had tested positive for Covid nineteen I, think people out in the world saw that and said what in God's name is going on here. I was one of those people out in the world in my living room like so many others in their living rooms wondering wait a minute. This is a very sophisticated game with many protocols. How did Justin Turner get cleared to be out on the field doing all the things you just mentioned? Justin Turner. Did Not get cleared Justin Turner just wanted to go celebrate with his friends with his teammates with his wife who I saw a picture of him kissing on the field and with all of the people who he won this championship with I had a GM text me as this was going on. And he said, is there a super spreader event going on at the World Series Right now? And it's it's not an unreasonable question to ask now Justin Turner did say in a tweet that he's not feeling any symptoms that he's doing. Alright. So bats great to hear, but it's not like. This is the Los Angeles dodgers team Pablo that hasn't had issues with covid Nineteen

"Other news this is a much much much different topic in Major League Baseball last night another child was hurt by a foul ball and the question is why don't they have Nettie in where people can easily be hit by a screaming fell ball coming right at you so this was last night in Houston they're playing the Chicago Cubs third inning line drive off of the bat of the Chicago Cubs centerfielder Albert L. more a junior added shot into the seats just past the visitor's dugout down the left field line so this is in Houston and nothing is there there's no mesh no screen no anything it's just you and your y'all you got good seats you can see really well but when a when somebody hit the ball into the stands that's okay it may be a pop fly but it also could very easily be a ninety eight mile per hour hardball that's been coming off of a wooden bat so short enough this is happened before small girl cradled in the arms of her father written by Billy witz in Tyler Kepner over New York times small girl cradled in the arms of a man as he hustled up the stadium steps looking for medical attention for then the baseball players saw what happened and almost immediately the batter now more on what is hands on his helmet and he and the Houston Astros catcher turn.

"When healthy is a big emphasis because the guy's not healthy ever wasn't healthy before he wasn't held it before the contract. We gave them a lot of money. He's not healthy African. He's literally not even healthy right now. Like as as I'm talking in this world, he's not healthy. He might not even pitch. But. The thing is like I can't tell if we have no depth or a lot of depth because there's so many people on this on this list that I'm looking I right now for the bullpen that can be a closer Steve seasick, she she shack didn't he didn't have like forty saves for the Marlins one year. He was a part of that gauntlet at the Marlins advertiser where it was. What was Ziegler? Stuck in rider Barrick law. It was just ridiculous. They are just so many people so many moving parts there. Yeah. So like, he's done it before Ken slur. He was a all-star four was administered as a closer. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And then Edwards and stroke. Both showed it in two thousand sixteen do in two thousand sixteen Edwards was top-five arm out of the bullpen in baseball. He was the man. And then last year he fell off Strope like sometimes looks like he's super Lockton at times looks like he's so rattled in the in the late innings, and then Tyler Chow would do what whatever I hate that guy random areas a name that you'll see in and out Dylan may polls comes up and down from AAA Dwayne underway up and down from AAA. These are guys that like can't do it. But just don't if that makes sense does. And you know last question is if I put you on the spot on a lie detector is this team going to win the division in how many games do you think they're going to win? Yes. And yes, they are gonna win this division. Coda? Had them one in eighty games. Yeah. They hadn't being last. Yeah. They had they had the reds. But I think they had him last in the central. They had the reds went in like eighty four games. Reds made good moves joy vodka was maybe my favorite Noncovic in baseball. The brewers. Good team. We're don't we this guys? How do the brewers continue this without starting pitching? Everyone's like, yeah. It's good starting pitching. They may have been top last year. Can you name their starting pitching rotation? Dude. Whenever I asked that in Milwaukee. It's got Jimmy Nelson. His toddler Anderson, chilling Anderson. Sorry wrong. Chase Anderson wrong Anderson. It sounds like you've got twenty five years into the show. Yeah. That's honestly, what it sounds like. It's just like a terrible name generator. And then like a guy can throw like ninety four. But they both like and Mike miss is playing second base. So there's negative war. Yes. He is. Today. They can't they're not the ones I'm worried about in the central though, I'm worried about your favorite, you know, rival, basically that's not across town in Saint Louis. God you're scared. I know you text me your like should I be scared? I was like you should be scared. Yeah. All in all sports. My least favorite team in the whole world is is the Saint Louis cardinals. And then other than joy vodka, my favorite non cub in all of baseball was Paul Goldschmidt. And now they're in other basically married in that my heart sank the cardinals have away to find stupid names like the brewers have. And they bring up like fat Matt Adams who and then Matt carpenters, obviously, a really good player. But he wasn't supposed to be like these guys aren't supposed to be good baseball players. These guys look like. They work at like chasing. And they come up and hit twenty five home runs, and they'll have a pitcher come out of nowhere to. I'm of all teams. I am scared of the cardinals. I really am. I think the cubs win ninety two ninety three games next year. I don't know what that means for the central because I don't know what the cardinals do last year they have stack lineup and they sucked for the I seventy five percent of the season..

"From wear for the moment. Yeah. I mean, that's a perfect segue to the outfield because you have a very good and bad problem. You have a lot of good players, but not a lot of positions for them. But I think what feels is looking at is probably what every superstitious fan, including myself will say as soon as you trade, you know, say Russell in Bodey Brian's going out with a year long injury or Russell's going out. I mean by is going out your lung injury. And then it's baseball. It's everything interest sports karma's how things work is never bad. They'd have depth. And when guys are on team control or minimum salary like a devils or bend attending for the Red Sox or Blake Snell for you know, the. For Tampa Bay. For example, you want hold onto those guys. And I think that's what maybe stopping them, but the infield crowded the outfield is probably even more crowded. You have Jason Heyward whose contract is going nowhere. He's only twenty nine years old, which is why. Because I think he's eighty five the I feel like he's been league forever. But after his first disastrous year cubs fans have to get over that since then has been worth the money, not twenty five million dollars a year, basically. But is he worth two seventy plus Gogol defense to sixty batter. Yes, that's a very good valuable thing in the lineup. So he's helping call Schwab ever really can't play the outfield. But as you know, Joe Madden is shown he doesn't care about throwing a pitcher in left field. If it means getting certain guys out there. He does not value left field as the -fensive part at all maybe even negative. He could care less. So that Schwab or spot a guy that is taking over the outfield by storm in could be the NL central by store. Is Albert Maura. He's unbelievable. And we talked earlier about how this team goes through. It's almost everybody just has a bad month or two randomly throughout the season. And then they explode backup. You talked about it before the show. If I'll Maura can keep it going. He plays five star defense. He's got great speed. He can he can any contact all the time if he can stay consistent, and maybe add a little pop. A we looking at like a legitimate four five tool player, Alvin or Maura is awesome. He's like everything that you just said and more when he's on. He is like in the outfield Heacon. Honestly, I have yet to see a ball or I'm like, oh l'amour can't get there. He covers ground. Sometimes that just blows my mind. He's made several top ten plays. He's made. Several like diving catches in in the gaps that may be ten fifteen players in all baseball can can maybe get to. And I think it's it's sort of what I was saying earlier how he's in a spot where if he if you go like two or three games, we don't offer you're looking over your shoulder. Like, oh now and bench. Now now has got me. Now, I'm moving over to right field where I hate it. I think he just needs spot. That's like, hey, dude. This is your from everything that I've seen. He's like he's like his characteristics in his his demeanor is he's he's like a leader talented guy. He was the leader on on all of his young USA teams coming through the minors and college everything I've ever seen his personality is like a leader. Watch me like, I'm gonna talk talk. I'm going to walk the walk Washington, author and do it. And I think his personality type does not help the situation where he's constantly thinking like dude if I if I drop a ball if I make a bad throw make. Like if I go over four three case for an I I'm not playing tomorrow, that's not going to help them. That's why I want half shift outta here. Give more a little more breathing room. And I think if he has a breakout year it's going to be another Baya's type ever. He just takes the league. You got you like seeing guys like that, especially I'm pretty sure he was one of the os. I pay cts if not Dios first pick. I think I think he was. Yeah..

"But he like, I think he was even like left off off the shredder for it'll be network top ten third baseman. And a lot of a lot of cubs writers and cubs reporters are saying the he's he's got like he's just Matt like when people ask about them last year. Like, hey, what happened last year? How do you feel about this year? He kind of has a chip on his shoulder like journalists thing to say, but he like it's crazy that people forget how good this guy actually is. There's a big elephant room and his. James Addison, Russell. The cubs are no stranger to domestic violence in their players. They had roles Chapman who they traded for. They trade. One of the best players in baseball at the time. Prospect wise for him who is going to be a very good baseball player for while. They've Addison Russell was a very good shortstop. When playing only twenty five years old three years of team control left only making three point four million this year suspended for a while the Mesic abuse does he fit into this team? If he doesn't fit into this team. I I would assume you trade him for starting pitching, either prospect or depth. What do you think I have been so anti Russell since the beginning of last season? Like, even even back. There was like a little time that I had like a blog, and I wrote this huge article on why to trade Addison Russell after like twenty sixteen. There has been rumbling since like since he came up pre 2016 sixteen World Series. This guy's a scumbag. This guy is the way. Worst. He has like two or three different kids with two or three different women. He's constantly seen out at at nightclubs at two three four in the morning in in Chicago when they have a day game the next day. There's like this guy on on Twitter. I forgot his name. But every time he spotted Russell in a nightclub or has like seen tweets about it. He tracks Russell's day game stats for the next day. And Russell bats like like under one hundred. He's so bad. The dude is not taking the serious. He so naturally Townsend. Baseball wise, he fits into this team. Perfect. I think he's like one of the most perfect shortstops in like in baseball when it comes to like build and skill set and feeling and hitting the the man but perfect dude, exactly. But it's not it's real life sucks. Get them off my team. Honestly right now, just cut him. I don't care if you go somewhere and like wins the World Series because he's a huge like keep of apart. I wouldn't even be mad. I just don't want them on our. Team. Texas do that all the time. Yeah. Texas would take him you know, happily with a smile on his face. I agree. I think he needs to be moved on from this team. I think the cubs needed to get away from that whole like y'all get these guys second chances. But I think that they're gonna try and raise his stock. I think he plays the cubs this year at some point if he's decent someone gets hurt. He gets moved for whatever feels not an idiot. He's not going to give them away for free. And the way baseball is now on the way sports are now you literally can get away with murder and still play all in all we know is not a great guy. But he helps the baseball team, and he will help this organization either by getting traded for somebody or playing I just don't know which what yet moving to a happier topic. You've another utility guy absorbs two point, oh, David Bodey. He's a bigger, dude. But he's at like as all hell where did you see him this year? He I think he's gonna get sixty seventy games this year. He's he like he has his zobrist. He's not as good. He's he's not like a smart savvy veteran, but he has. Moments. He was huge for the cubs last year. I think he I doubt his his wars this high. But he was a reason that the cubs won like three or four games last year include that grand slam do that grand slam. I didn't see live. But it's awesome. I bet it was man. It was great. Didn't that was helmet..

"And just like Tampa Chicago just handle these draft picks and the all came up at the same time say thing in Tampa. They all these studs and Jomon is there, and I feel like he's just there in Chicago. And I feel people kind of get an over his like his kind of thing. What do you think about you'll manage Gago the media there? Do they love him anymore? They over it are they like all right, man. Like, stop drinking wine the press conference stop talking about this cool shit. You do like where's the normal glasses like figure it out yet? The definitely are starting to turn on them. It's it's people hate him. But you're seeing a lot more articles here. And there are a lot more tweets in income Twitter like like from fans being like do what's this guy doing and then they like pick apart some of his moves you can obviously go back to two thousand sixteen World Series. And there's like five six seven or eight different times where you're just like Joe, man. You're just over thinking everything you don't he over thinks making breakfast in the morning. This guy really does. He like, he's the kind of guy that Syria you'll you'll like poke and eggs, and then he will extract the yoke from it. And then he'll shake up the the white in the egg. And then mixed the egg yolk and the together to make like scrambled eggs and just just the throat away to eat to go get like. Legal. Exactly. Yeah. He's like, oh, I hate eggs. Bam. Yeah. That's why I don't. That's why I don't like Madden. And I don't like all the the nonsense that people be like, oh, he's like a young guy whisper, not really just let's see a young guys do whatever they want seventy eight years old. Yeah. Like like, my whole thing on Ben's overseas. I think that he's overrated. He's a very consistent player player. But people like Morville him like he's a must need like he is the guy the that's why I don't like zobrist because he is a very consistent. He backs to seventy five every year pretty much minus last year in the before we bad really loan really high. Very nice guy. There's lots of the community. That's not my thing. It's just everyone makes them seem like he's like Mookie Betts since like, oh, he plays everywhere in bets all the soften. He doesn't do that stuff. The two of them together kind of broken the like the era of specialization almost if you think about it in the kind of go hand in hand that was the guy in Tampa that. Vicky guy. Yeah. It's his it's his backup plan. It was like having. I'm trying to think of who John Farrell just like would not let go of when Joe Kelley sucked now just ninety Barnes and Mattie Barnes. He just switched off with them. And Aaron Boone just constantly rolling out. Gary Sanchez, basically, even when he was batting like point nine five..

"It's the worst like the Burston even go to the World Series. There were just closer than the cubs did. So I don't get why I get all this shit. But it sucks like ninety five wins is a great season. But literally not even playing a series is so salty, it's such a salty taste. So you'll miss is a little weird because we have the looming problem shortstop that is asinine Russell. So let's talk about the guy. That played second base last year. And then we'll kind of work around it. How beer by is probably had one of the best seasons by cub in the last. What do we want to say ten years? If you take Chris Bryan that. Yes. Yeah. If you take if you take Brian out he probably had the best cub season since like, Derek Derek Lyng Sosa to have a second baseman slash shortstop. Blaster hit thirty four home runs is almost unprecedented. You have to go around the league and find guys like that. You're a shortstop and center field being the positions that you can you know, sacrifice defense because you need that you need to have a defensive presence that each tier of the of the of the field, basically heavier by his might be the best second baseman in baseball. If we take out who they'll to my opinion, what is going on with him. And can he better he cut down on the on the strikeouts? He he's a great base runner, obviously, stole home. He makes amazing flashy plays again like concerto. It's not cockiness. It's just so much confidence that when he does a little bit of in. They're whatever dude when you when you are playing second or third. Dive in the hall, make a diving play get up throat, a I in while you're doing all that you. Will be cocky, I don't care, man. You know what? I mean, it is cockiness, but that's okay. He's backing up like, it's the conflicts line. But it's bregman is exactly pregnant can do whatever he wants. Because he he he doesn't like he can sure he can yell scream in your face. But he's batting three hundred and making Gogol plays. Like, Erin havi does the same thing. And he finally backed up with his back considering the only downside of the kid was yet. It's great. But he's going back to forty. But now he's bat in two eighty three hundred. So the whole conversation changes. He's still he's still bites at at some of those sliders, and there's you can always tell like once again there, isn't that bad. Oh, two one two and an everybody in the park. Everybody watching on TV knows a sliders coming in by still chases it if you can if you can recognize that earlier and followed offer or hold off on doing in. He'll go from two seventy to eighty two to ninety three hundred kind of guy. And and if he has another year like last year, then people are. Going to say he's like a top fifteen player in baseball top ten player in baseball. Should he be fun for being completely honest? I love him. Yeah. He's. Tease way better than that other bumming guys go ahead. Just do it. Just rip it just bends over socks baseball. Can we can we agree to that? He's Jones alleged Joe Madden. He's a man to man. Thank you. Joe madden. Joel Madden coached himself, and you guys out of a World Series. At a rain delay saved you. Sure. Yeah. I listen. I love the cubs like for people that don't know the cubs. My second favorite team family in Chicago. It's a whole thing. And granted bends over set a great year last year played hundred and forty games batted over three hundred was its reward player, very good here. But he's a very tricky player. He never batted over to set to seventy five to eighty before that and people talk about him like he's like the the you need 'em. Like all you need a guy bends over on because he plays. We'll positions in the playoffs. He kinda shines. And that's where it is. But I don't like bends over. It's my thing. Joe Madden is not a good manager. It's all smoking mirrors bringing bear cub to the, you know, spring training getting the guys loosey goosey. He did the same thing in Tampa..

"Hell all all very handsome as well. A guy that's very the opposite of contrast. When it comes to consistency is one of my favorite players in baseball. All former Red Sox. Great by great. I mean when he was sixteen he was signed, but Anthony Rizzo at first base gives you pretty much what you're gonna get every single year, which is all star level first baseman. He's always going to get you one hundred RBI is he's always gonna be around to eighty. He's always gonna hit thirty or thirty or more doubles. And he's always gonna hit twenty to thirty home runs. I mean you. Can't ask for much more and on top of that one of the best contracts in baseball. I don't think he's ever made over fifty million dollars. He makes like eleven or twelve this year than he is to club options left at fourteen million each and he's only twenty nine years old sue gut him in his prime of his age and the prime when the team what's it like having a guy there that you never have to worry about you literally never have to worry about this guy ever. I don't I don't think he's ever had a hot or he may have in the past few years. He has not had a hot April or may and every single year people freak out. She'll be like you said the guy's gonna give you two eighty thirty one hundred every year. No matter what he has. He has a gold glove. Now. He makes the flashy fall ball plays all the time. He loves jumping up on the tar hanging out by the by the brick. He's a great defender. He loves that guy. He loves he loves that area. I love this guy. He did. He's he's the man is there. Anybody in sports not like not just baseball in. Sports that deserves a captain like titled more than him, but doesn't have it. Oh, he's one of those guys that deserves to see I mean, just even him in the World Series run talking to David Ross just he's so animated, but he's so honest and open, and he he just relaxed and he has a good time. He, but he doesn't get too high doesn't get too low. He's excited, but he doesn't he doesn't annoy people he's not super negative. He's he's he's he knows when to play cards, and he's just such a great guy to on top of it team. That is full of kids. He's also a kid, but he's twenty nine years old. He's not he's not the twenty five year old rookie sensation young guy anymore. I mean, he's kind of the leader of the kids if you will between Cottrell heiress and Brian and buyers and all them because they're all younger than him. Yeah. He's like he's like the old brother out there. Like, yeah. He is. He's the older brother. Cousin? Yeah. Yeah. And like dude every even everything down to. Him choking up with two strikes. That's the kind of stuff that you just like I eat that for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love when when players do like like there has been like science be like. Oh, yeah. That does nothing. And then some science says, oh, it does everything. I don't care. It just shows like he will do anything to win. He's the guy that you want up in October to just get your like a bloop single up or Pokemon through like infield. That's that's that's playing in stuff like that. He's he's the guy that I want. So before we go like any further and talk about all the other positions because there's so many more positions to talk about. Can we talk about the absolute collapse at the end of the season? God. Yes. Yes. We can't basically I say that the nobody is out of Chicago. We are life name when five from Rockford, Illinois. That's about an hour hour and a half west of of Chicago. And then that's my hometown. But I live in..

"Like, he's the guy that if you want like a a a Red Sox type turnover where you have one core win a few. And then now a new Corwin a few. He's the guy that has to stay long term. Get I one hundred percent agree. When like we said, we think he's obviously one of the best players in baseball and one of the best catchers in baseball. What is there something that he can get better? I mean, obviously catchers aren't going to be spectacular hitters unless you're a once in a generation player. Like Mara was for a couple years BUSTER Posey as well. What can he do better this year that he didn't do? Well, not not well, but didn't do as well last year. I guess one stay healthy. But to again, it's going to be a a repeat kind of episode a lot of people on this team. Have this problem? He just goes through a three or four weeks stretch where he bats like one ten one twenty and like an an and like the way that mad seems to play around with lineups. But he doesn't do as much as people thing if you have like four or five or six guy, you're not gonna go any any lower in the lineup. So if you have that like three or four weeks stretch where you just can't hit anything and you're still staying at five six like it's it's gonna catch. To the team. And that's and that's what he did last year. It was kind of a down year. Even though wasn't the all-star starter last year. Yes. The catcher team was though. That's a good point. Yeah. It helps being the dubs. Yeah. It really does. It's great cow what integrate franchise it's great again. Again, we should say. Yes. Exactly. But yeah, dude. Like, he's he's just like he's just like really streaky. And if he can consistently just just stay out of those slumps and not just like rake, but just not go over fifteen over twenty. His defense is awesome. He has a really quick throw to first cubs. Loved thrown a first and okay, honestly, guys. Let me ask you this. What what's a cooler? All a catcher picking somebody off at first base. That is such a cool feeling watch. Throw to first base. Yeah. Right. We see San Leone snap down. All the time. The first base. It's exciting plate the heads up play. It just makes you think as a runner it has different elements, especially when you have a guy like John lawsuit. Blue Jit doesn't know how to throw to first base. Exactly. But yet it seems like insurance loves doing that. And like the whole team gets pumped that's outside. It's other than like a clutch homerun or a Ravi home body with the grand slam. Yeah. That was great watch that life. I did not watch that alive. It's a it's a sore subject in my life. But we'll. That that he makes it so he's just so cool about it. Like, I. Great smile. Handsome, son of a bitch gray baseball player. I'm so happy. We have them. Well, you got a lot. There's some very similar about the calls where all their rookie seemed to come up and make a big moment and they come up like mid years. So you had contrary issue had boy you had Rizzo you had Kris Bryant even when he came over four that day. But you know, he came up and obviously Ozzy played really well Russell bias flashes..

We're talking about whistle control is a guy that if like we discussed prior if DAT room. It'll didn't exist would probably have an argument for the best catcher in baseball along with guys. Like BUSTER Posey if we're talking about offensively and defensively what is the impact with him. And what is the future in the distant future? Obviously. Because Wilson is the age that he is love love. Love wasn't chairs everything you ever hear out of cubs Twitter cubs riders and like from the actual cubs players that he is. He is the easy going and works hard shows his source has a leadership through hard work kinda guy. Like, he's like a glue. He's a staple in the clubhouse and on top of all that. He's really good at playing the sport of baseball. Like what else could you honestly, ask out of a catcher he like he's the whole classic controls. The pitching staff manages the game. All that. But he does it with like he's so cool. He's just so confident and I love him. Honestly, say this a lot with it's just a bunch of cool. Guys. They're all confident they smile, but they all they're all. So good baseball, contrary is the man I'd say he's like one of the three guys in this core that you need to get signed long-term..

"On cbs sports radio and the cbs sports app so that the cubs snapped their drought they'd gone one hundred nate years without a word theories they took care of that last season and they have been two three straight nlcs right so this is actually the second straight year that the national league championship series has ended on their field actually third straight year because the mets clinched there's by the world theories at wrigley field in two thousand fifteen how funny is that it was the cubs last year and now it's the dodgers so this is a new era for the chicago cubs as disappointing as it is to say you went to three straight championship series and you have got one world theories ring in there knowing that you also have some really amazing young pieces like aids did he rizzo and chris bryant who right now is the reigning nl mvp you certainly have up a bunch of guys in your lineup that can hit the ball even though they didn't really hit the ball in this series and that was kind of the issue with the dodgers starting pitching was so much better what now for the chicago cubs what now jake arrieta as a huge question mark was this his last appearance for the chicago cubs we know that pitching is a big issue for the cubs any all season whether it's bullpen whether it's starting pitching they could use and other starter obviously they brought in different guys john like he wasn't terrible but they brought in different guys to try to put with arietta and john leicester can they they went out and i got jose kintana obviously have kyle hendricks but it was the pitching that let him down and certainly the bullpen where weighed davis was about the only reliable guy in clutch situations so jake arrieta it's going to be a huge question mark for them and while they didn't perform offensively in this series they only at seven runs in five games and were especially batter almost in a disappearing act when it came to runners in scoring position there's still a lot to like about this team it's not as though there they're going to fall off the map there's a lot of friends over there so i want to congratulate them on their victory.

"Three seven sixty six sixty six i thought we keep you posted as a as things got closer on some of these deals on the major league baseball paul freed deadline and says the cubs are here's the quote close quote unquote close to acquiring justin wilson so it looks like tigers relief pitcher former yankee relief pitcher justin wilson a left the power left the it looks like the chicago cubs are close to making afraid with the tigers and getting justin wilson and that's a we'll keep you posted on that if it happens but that's the the latest rumor that seems to be going around here i think there are a bunch of other teams that have been interested but it looks like the cubs are the front runner and some uh some deal there may happen uh over the course of the overnight so keep that tune tear in we'll keep you posted on that cubs and tigers potentially make me move there and what that signals obviously to us we know the cubs are the unions there is the defending world series champion and they may have struggled for a while but now they're back in first place in their division and they already made the trade for the big starting pitcher to bolster that rotation they went in trade with the white sox and got can tana for the starting rotation and the all star break when cubs players religion qualify a lot of them this year staying home they got a chance to rest and then they're management went out and and made a big trade which helped them in getting that starting pitcher but also you hear players talk about this and i think sometimes we all i'm guilty of this new we want wanna boil players down to uh the sabree metrics and statistics in there is an element of the game for sure that has to do with confidence and when a when management goes out and makes that big trade it is a vote of confidence to a.
