"And I'm Tom 14 of the founder and principal of Alfa Wealth Group here in the Chicagoland area. So every week we try to talk about some of the businesses that banners to you were ready to answer your questions You can call 63934 18 55 or go to Alpha wealth Group come and talk to Tom about protecting your money and creating income. And, of course, in the matter that we go on sell of all the world's problems where it comes to money, yes, where it comes to money. We try to solve as many things that we all face and it's. There's so many common issues when it comes to taxes. We pay to trying to make sure we feel like we have a secure retirement. And so there's just a lot of moving parts here. So if we can give, as we say, every week, a couple of good ideas that are going to make a difference. Hey, we've had a successful show. So this week is sort of interesting. We had an extra half hour together If anybody hurt us. I've been filling in for Anna Devane Lantus this past week, and you came out of your regular slot. That was a lot of fun, actually, to just kind of chat with you during the week. Yeah, it was. We took on some topics and again. Important topics. So it was interesting, and I hope it helped out some people. Well this week, the stock market I mean, just seven months of gains was absolutely incredible. Every week, we said this can't possibly continue and at some point it won't. But there was a survey that came out that said, Millennials are looking at their 41 k balances. And they're thinking that a $300,000 nest egg so millennials are up to age 40, right. So they think $300,000 is going to make them comfortable and retirement. Gen. Xer say it's closer to 500,000 boomers say 750,000. And one thing that struck me about that number and how it jumps up, Tom is that it's kind of like, Yeah, okay, when you're younger, you definitely you know, you have your magic number. What I wasn't clear about is do they think it's 300,000 when they retire the millennials or do they think it's 300,000 is a 40 year old And then when you're a Gen xer at 50 you want 500,000 And the boomers, you know, are saying 7 50 like, Are they naturally stepping it up or is everybody just so far off like millennials? Don't even understand that Health care and retirement will cost them $300,000 per person. What do you think? Well, yeah. I mean, there's these studies that we see all the time about this number, right? I mean, we talked about, I think in weeks prior where it was You should have five times this and seven times this, and I think you know the one thing about his financial education, which I think is missed, especially in some of these companies. Just to explain, and it's through no fault of their own. This is not to blame anybody. But it's unfortunate that you know some of the stuff isn't provided. And the education isn't there. And so you know, we look at these numbers and there. I hate to say they're way off and I don't want to discourage anyone from trying to get to a number. Right. It's very common in this industry is very common. And you know you see on TV. Hey, getting to a number. What's your number? In fact, there was a large companies to do that goals are laudable, right? You know whether it's a diet of fitness your career goals. You gotta have goals. But we also have to understand. What does it really mean? What numbers do we need to get to and then we also have to discern between a large number and income. Right? Those are two different things. We go from getting a paycheck our entire life right, exchanging labor to get a paycheck every month, every two weeks, and all of a sudden we're supposed to turn that switch and say, Okay? That's ending. We've done this for 40 years. Now we're going to live out of a bucket of money. That can be problematic. Could it be a swimming pool of money? I would like a swimming pool of money and not singles, right? I mean, at least $10 bills. Yeah, You always see those scenes where there's someone you know, they dive into a pile of money and, uh, those many of those movies, but that's not reality. Oh, gosh, I'm so disappointed. Well, you know those numbers that I pointed out comes from the Transamerica Center for retirement Studies, and this woman, Catherine Collinson from Transamerica, says the estimated retirement savings for all workers. Are on the low side. And then she says, I'm concerned that they're not thinking big enough in terms of how much somebody should save, and I think that that's right. People think that $300,000 or $500,000 is just All the money in the world. And if it's all the money that you have, that's really significant, right. But if you're in your thirties, and you're thinking that all you need to do is get to $300,000, and you'll be fine. I'm worried about that, too. Yes. If you start to really do the math, especially if you're a number of years out. Let's not forget inflation. I mean, if you're 40 years old today, and you say, even if your goal is to retire at 60 20 years from now you'll need probably twice as much. And so if you say, Look, I need 100,000 to live on while you'll need 220 years, So we really have to factor that and the fact And then if you have a half million dollars. How long is that going to last? If you need even 100,000 year, Not long you need to. Really. I guess the takeaway from this is instead of looking at this chunk of money number one set a goal. You're not going to be to the penny. So let's forget that But if you can say base it on today's dollars, try to figure out what you're living on and saying, You know, ballpark. I need to get to a certain number. You'll refine it over the years. Say five years from now, you might modify that five more years. And so this is a way to start to create an income plan and then take a look at. You know, when I started in this business, I who started at General Motors is an engineering. I remember sitting down with the HR department and they're saying, Okay, you're going to be in a pension plan. Do you want to also contribute to that? Well, those days are pretty much gone. Yeah, we know that and that And so that's an income. So again, let's understand the difference between a pile of money and income, So we need to start taking a look at Social Security and income. I think we talked about this yesterday. I'm not yesterday. Sorry earlier when we were when I was on Anna's show. I know that the days just fly by earlier this week, we talked about Social security. That's an income right and it increased. They're saying it may increase by 6.2% this year. And so that's an income. So we have to understand income are those paychecks that come in every week whether it's a pension, whether it's Social security. Annuities are another example. I know there's a lot of misinformation on them, but actually, they've been part of this secure act, the setting every community for retirement act part of that act. One of the provisions was providing annuities inside 41 case. So now you could use a 41 K, which is a defined contribution plan to create a defined benefit. This is the way we want to start looking at our income. So what is your income plan? Not a pot of money. Yes, It's great to have the money, but we also want to start to number one set a goal number to start to crystallize some of these things. No, it's great advice. Listen, we're going to take a short break. Let's come back and talk a little bit more about the annuities, part of it because we never seem to have enough time to get into that, But I do want to talk about. There's been a lot of competition in the you know it. Space. And I think some of the things that journalists like myself were really sort of like a those are really expensive. I think a lot of the costs have come down and it's worth exploring how you can make that work for you. So we're going to be back in just a moment. You're.

So anyways, so that is the deal with teams in, Georgia. Anything else we want to promote just a reminder as I said at the beginning if you want to get Zen parenting moment three times a week. It's again free. It's just part. It's like, you know, it's just good news in your inbox my gosh. I need some I'm so motivated. And obviously I'm you know, it's not going to be getting my own newsletter or my own Zen parenting moment, but just being able to write something that focus it like in my office line is actually Zen parenting moment what we know but tend to forget because I feel like we're forgetting our essential nature and that we are loved and that we can be civil and that we do treat each other with dignity like we know these things and all these things are being called into question. And so I'm just trying to have something that I could write and share with people where we go. Oh, yeah. That's right. I'm not going to be teaching you anything else. You guys already know all this but it's like reminders right remind you of what you already know. Yes, which is an interesting kind of Thought that's what I think Zen parenting radio is. I don't think I mean, yeah, we share new people or new books or new maybe a new way to look at something but like we were saying when we were talking to Allie basically, it's the same stuff different language. I mean, these are Universal principles like what we're all in this together, you know, a sense of groundedness groundedness and love and connection and communication. That's what this life is about. And sometimes when we get back to Lost in the minutia, especially in a time like now with a pandemic and an election and so much overwhelming scary information, we forget what we know. So so go to Counting radio.com and you'll see it right on the top you can subscribe or if you have the newsletter you're already going to get it. So we're all in this together. Don't forget about the tribe ends group. We got for events this week 2 meditations are Wednesday night meeting and then separation divorce support group. And don't forget about Jeremy Kraft all her beauty the ball had a beauty any contract. If you live in the Chicagoland area, give Jeremy a call 600-956-1800. "June 29. Thanks for watching on Wish TV and listening this hour on WNBC before we get to those headlines, though, let's check in with Stephanie. Meet her folks heading out the door this morning traffic morning, and we are seeing a few showers to south of the city here in Bedford. It is a bit damp. You can tell in some of the sidewalks in the parking lot here. They are seeing a few thunderstorms. Nothing severe at this time, and this is I think going to stay well south of Indianapolis att leased the heavier stuff as we had through this morning and over the past two days of so we've really made a dent in the deficit for the month of June, where a lot of locations especially west of downtown, Indy, and even east, around 2 to 3 inches of rain from this past weekend, just north of the green field area, about 2.5 and then extending from Indies, what side and continuing west of US and western portions of the state around soon Possibly upwards of around 3.5 inches of rain. This from the past two days or so. Additional showers and thunderstorms developing just south of the city here, some pockets of some heavy rain just south and west of I 70 south of Cloverdale. That's going to continue to remain south at extends to portions of Bloomington. Bedford is a bit soggy here this morning and this complex here some showers and thunderstorms just east of Bedford. It's going to continue to move towards the Southeast. So has that track that's going to track out of the state really not necessarily bother. It's here in downtown Indianapolis. Additional showers and thunderstorms developing northwest of the state in a portions of Minnesota. Right now, most of us are starting off in the low seventy's, so it is a warm and very uncomfortable start for us here Very Human, 71 of the city's 72 in South Bend Chicagoland area at 73 74 in Louisville, and as we head through the day today, we'll see our temperatures gradually warm already. You should see our daytime highs top out close to 90 degrees..
