2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV aims for affordability with $30,000 base price

"Rising car companies are rolling out more affordable electric vehicles The average price of an electric vehicle according to Edmunds dot com is about $65,000 Chevrolet has announced a price for its equinox electric small SUV around $30,000 It's a price point for this vehicle in this segment that's unheard of as of right now That is just a bit higher than the price of a top selling gas SUV Chevy Steve majora says the equinox may turn out to be sort of an icebreaker It's going to not only bring new people into the franchise especially early on but it gives people another destination point for those that have said hey maybe now the time is right for me to try an electric vehicle GMA find it difficult to keep the Equinox price around $30,000 because prices for key components of batteries have been rising fast and some dealers have been marking up EVs beyond

Caller: Every Democrat Committed Insider Trading on EVs

"Hey Phil witches, are they this dumb or is this intentional? And they're just gaslighting this. Well, I think mainly if you read into some of it, every one of them Democrats when Biden got into office, ran and bought stock in Tesla and Ford and Chevrolet into the electric cars. Every one of them did. It's called insider trading. Let's start there. Then on top of that, they're really so stupid to think that the average American will go spend anywhere from 70 to $90,000 for an electric car and have their house rewired to put in one of these plugs, which you still got to pay for the electric. Which I'm told is going to run us anywhere from 70 to a $100 a week to charge one of these damn cars.

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. The Super Bowl has come and gone for another year and now LA can lay claim to being the Super Bowl champs, but a lot of people still talking about, well, not the game. Some of the game, some of the refereeing, but a lot of people, of course, still talking about the ads. I'll be the first to admit I watched the Super Bowl mainly for the ads because usually my team is not involved and I don't care that much. Well, the one thing I see this year, there were a lot of good commercials, but not a lot of great. There wasn't one commercial everybody walked away saying that was the winner. That was the one. Back in the day it was a Coke commercial or a Pepsi or a Budweiser or a Doritos or something like that. And this year, a lot of good commercials, but again, not a lot of great. Do we try to focus too much on putting together great commercials? A lot of people love the Chevrolet commercial with The Sopranos. But I don't think it was great. Pete Davidson for hellmann's mayonnaise, the Budweiser commercials always good with the clydesdales. Yes, a lot of star power. A lot of celebrities, but not a lot of greatness. At this point, does that really matter? I know we put the pressure on it, but it doesn't matter. I don't think.

And always reducing friction and trying to get a very high quality at a cost that we can get them to more customers because sometimes you can build a 100% perfect shock that only 1% of not even that .0001% of racing population can afford. So it's a battle like any other company in this sport goes through. Now, a lot of what you guys do are systems that would require fabrication, right? When you're doing the coilover shocks, how you're fitting them in. Are you guys getting more into direct fit systems? We're making model specific. Yeah, what we have for making models we have actually very very well educated distributors and dealers of ours, some of that concentrate just on maybe more Mustangs. Some may be more on just Chevrolet products. Some may be more on the Mopar side. I rely heavily on their knowledge and then them telling me what we need to be doing for fitment. The shock absorber part's easy, so the Fitbit part. That's right. From the wheel and you're enroll that it's not hitting anything. And those are those are the guys that who you probably know who they are that keep me honest. So a lot of the direct fitment stuff is working with partners that specialize in the Mustang guys. They do a bunch of Mustang parks. You're going to develop a shock for them, but they're going to be able to sell the direct fit package. Work with the people that.

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. I remember years ago when I was living in Virginia Beach, so it would have to be high school college era, a story about some of the Chevrolet dealerships in town, price fixing. So no one dealer was cutting the other dealer's profits. What's interesting to me though is, is I've seen stories about Apple and price fixing and Amazon and Google and price fixing for all their electronic tools. But I never see anything come about because of it. If you want to buy an Amazon Alexa, if you want to buy, even an iPhone, you're basically going to pay the exact same price no matter where you shop, whether it's from the manufacturer, whether it's Walmart, whether it's Best Buy whatever it is. It's all because a price fixing. What I don't understand why they don't get in trouble for it. Got me started on this the other day, I was looking for a new seat cushion. I like the purple seat cushions and they used to have them at bed bath beyond, but they don't have them anymore. They stopped carrying them. When I went online, the only places to find them were Amazon, or purple, and it's all the same exact price. They're making it so the only way you can get it is from the manufacturer themselves. So I guess they can price fix and get away with it.

"There were less cars on the road in less miles driven that fatality rate jumped twenty four percents in twenty twenty and that was due to increased speeds and really. We saw a lack of seatbelt. Use again the most important click of the day is putting on your seatbelts. And so it really showed us that the road environments might be a little bit more aggressive in the need for us all to revisit. What safe driving. Behaviours look like. So that we're all safer out on the road and tricia. What are some other things that that parents should be aware of when it comes to to to driving and safety and again some of the other things they have really done to help meet meet those challenges or meet those concerns. Parents have chevy obviously is trying to bring a lot of attention to the need for safe driving. We offer a lot of the active safety features which have really been proven to help. Reduce crash speeds or avoid crashes altogether so these safety features that were putting on the road really are proven to work you know. We also introducing new technologies like buckle to buckle to drive which is again a really strong seatbelt reminder. So if you get into your car and you're not wearing your seat belts and trying to shift out of part the vehicle can actually prevents that shift for a short period of time really again showing a strong seatbelt reminder for the driver of the vehicle and obviously with these with all all of these features are many of these features they can be turned off but it's really important that we leave them on and really make use of these technologies one thing that really warms my heart tricia i remember i've been covering Cas for little over decade. And i just remember how car technology has just evolved over the years and to see. I think cars at one time like had three or four computers. Now it has like me for wrongly sometime. A hundred different are so and i. It just shows that were stream of time and how technology is really going to help us to be saved and have have peace of mind out there and as an engineer tricia. Did you ever think that we would see the amount of technology that we have in cars now and love to get your get your thought on that as an engineer. Course i'm excited about it. I mean you know when you go to college and learn about all of these things that could be. It's so great to see so many of them being brought to reality features like automatic emergency breaking when when we were learning to drive. The car. didn't stop for us. We might have learned about tailgating with a wrinkled fender or maybe even worse and you know to me with this automatic emergency breaking my daughter meal. Maybe that feature goes off in prevents a rear end collision instead of a wrinkled fender or instead of learning the lessons through a much greater consequence. So i'm really excited about the future of safety in the future of of all of this power being put into our vehicles and i know we probably can't delve into some of the conceptual things that you guys working on over there and chevy but could you give us a little sneak peek of what's in store. Maybe a little maltese well. Obviously i can't talk about future product. But i will say that features like our buckled to drive feature. Which is you know that really encourages. The seat belt is will be rolled out on more and more vehicles as chevy safety. Assist will become standard on all trim levels on many of our vehicles going forward. And we're just really excited about putting more technology into vehicles and really offering our customers additional peace of mind and choosing us You'd like to share with the viewers and listeners. Out there just about any other things. They should be aware of anything about the survey that we didn't dive into yet. Anything the floor is yours. Attrition as we get back out on the road i think it is so important that we re familiarize ourselves with our vehicles. Make sure we remember basic road. Safety drives slow phones down seat belts on and make sure especially since it's back to school re familiarize ourselves with maybe what the rules of the school are where the drop off line is where the pickup line is and as a mom who's always running a little bit late. Make sure that we all give ourselves a little extra time. Don't double park. Don't let those kids run through traffic because practicing good safe road behaviors is really what's going to lead to the start of a really great safe school year. I'll probably made some people mad when i say this. Will we ever see technology. Where if you pick up the phone bill. They'll put you off safely on the road so you won't have any accidents or things like that. You're you're spot on on one of the biggest dangerous when you're when you're driving can be handling that phone because we all need to focus on the primary task which is driving so chevy offers features such as apple carplay android auto as well as bluetooth connectivity. That really enables you to do some of the things that you might want to do while you're driving but really enabling you to do that. While you're keeping your eyes on the road which is is paramount's when it comes to road safety and tricia maybe some would like to see this survey. Is there a website. They can go through goto in and check this out on your website for information on any of our vehicles are active safety features or the the recent poll that we conducted. We encourage everyone to visit. Chevy dot com. Which it's been an honor talking to you and it's been some time in favor when those new technologies or they drop and you're able to talk about it to me if you ever come back on and we can chat about it. Well you know. I i don't know about you but chatting with tricia. Moral was an awesome awesome experience. Just her knowledge when it comes to engineering and and the study that they shared. I mean it will. It was really awesome. How trying. I was trying. I was trying to get some some juicy details when she promised to let me know. I when when things come out but technology and automotive. I remember going to see. That guy showed this whether to go to see in carmo. automotive was just like the sound system you put in your carbon when technology started to get more and more and all these computers that are in cars now. Espn that's what we broadcast that. You know car audio. It's like so much technology there and it is awesome speaking of cas. We can't wait a few months out there. Details had access Wdun and coming up on North Georgia's news talk. It's local radio, and that's why you're listening. It's the Martha Zoller Show on Am by 50 NF M 102.9 WD You win. Today, Student athletes scored a nine to nothing win against the N C. Double A in the case that focused on education based benefits things like computers or paid internships but not cash payments. Several states have already approved legislation allowing college athletes to make money off their name, their image of her likeness in five of them Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and New Mexico. That legislation becomes law. July 1st. President Mark Emmert, reacting today by pledging quote, we remain committed to working with Congress to chart a path forward, which is a point, the Supreme Court expressly stated in its ruling. So you know, it was a nine to nothing decision for this, And I think that it was appropriate. We're seeing the world change on this. And look. It started a long time ago. It started with changing of rules of how long Players had to be in college before they could go on to prose is three years for football. It's one year for basketball baseball. A lot of times these guys go straight from high school into the minor leagues and then into the pros, So there are different rules for different times. But, um, while I do agree that the scholarship is, uh, payment in a way, I think that it ought to be a little more equated to the example. I used yesterday like an RTC scholarship. Where you get a stipend for spending money that would discourage some of the nefarious things that these kids get into. And I'm really old school on this. They need to go back to being an athletic dorms. One of the other things that The N C. A got ruled against years ago that having separate athletic dorms was somehow giving them special privileges, whether getting special privileges anyway. I mean, it's a little bit crazy. My daughter in law, Virginia was a tutor. That got to tutor. Um, athletes in Matt Stafford was one of the people that she tutored and he is, You know, I like to nicely call both Matt Stafford and Tom Brady quarterback's savants because they don't seem like they're that smart in any other part of their lives. But, boy, can they play football and they figured out a way to make that work. So, um, you know, there are they get a lot of benefits for being athletes to get tutors. They get all kinds of other help. Some people say they are allowed to not go to class, but I'm not going to get into that discussion. But we've got a lot of challenges here that I think Are on the way to being fixed. But again, I'm a little bit old school, and I think they ought to be an athletic dorms. Let's go to the phones at 770535 to 911, and they all have curfews to let's just make it a whole big list and talk to Joe in led. Hey, Joe, how you doing? Another great show, J. Kevin, you heard you mentioned him. He's speaking to my leadership class, August 14th outstanding young man, but you had to see more on. I talked to Steve earlier before he was on your show. And he told me always first, Joe, You're always first about that. I've been lasting a lot of things, mother, but anyway, Steve told me that he thought we could stop. The the the Biden tax and spending increases and he talks to about 15. He'll be on Fox Business News this afternoon, a regular Fox the way in, he talks to 50 million People Week. There's nobody in history, no president or anybody that talks to as many people stay morning. Very humble. As you know, He's a very humble guy, but I think he's the number one Economical. He wrote the Trump Economics book. And anyway, he's confident that we can stop the band because the American people, mother, no, we're overtaxed. We got too much government. The last thing we need is about anything that Biden's horror taxes. Spending. All that stuff is not necessary. We don't need any. We've got a good economy without any more money. And we and Stephen exactly right. We gotta quit playing people not to work That is crazy, and we're starting to and we're starting to see The Democrats realize that they don't have the majority of the people and they're starting to adjust some of their views. But the bigger thing that I think is happening right now, Joe, is that There are different rules for Democrats and Republicans, and there should not be it should be. I call out Republicans that I think make mistakes as well as Democrats to my rules are the same. Okay, My rules are the same regardless of who they are, and we've got to get. We have got to work on that because with the media in collusion with the Democrats They get passes on things that Republicans don't and we've just got to move past this, but I see indications that we are. If you look at how people are showing up to school board meetings to talk about issues they care about. If you look at how, uh, in a poll yesterday 81% of the American public thinks you should show I d to vote We are winning the argument on issues and if we will stay on the issues, we will continue to win. Well, Martha, you're right. Your show is one of the reasons why I think conservative radio talk shows like yours are the reasons we're going to have a massive landslide win. And that's laid out differently depending on if it's a customer program or factory program or you how we want to do that and then we also are the single point contact for the teams back to gm and also for the chassis suppliers and engine suppliers is so if they have any questions or any concerns that they want to relay back they see you go through me and then i'll take it to what i need to do. Either make a decision or or go above me. If i need to to solve a problem and then also very much. Integrated into design and development of the race cars at this point for all of those three programs. I just mentioned the cars are done. Which is exciting. So the new design and development. That i'll hopefully be getting into will be anything we do for future programs. Which is something that i'm involved in you know looking at. What would we like to do for from gm's perspective. Where do we wanna race. What brands do we want to race. All of that in the sports car arena. So it's nice. I have all different things. I get to be focused on which keeps the days different every single one and also keeps it so that i never get bored. Doing one thing like you said i mean. You've had a lot to your plate here with this new role. Previously mentioned you oversaw cadillac. And now. you've got corvette racing under your umbrella as well general question like how many people would you say you over at the company. I know you work with teams. So i guess it's probably different than if you were like a team manager but like in your role as a as a program manager that works with several sports teams. How many people would you say. You're you're looking here that's a. That's a good question <hes>. If you count the teams is being part of the family. Which very much do even though. I'm not gonna go tell a mechanic what to do. That's not my job. But you know i wanna make sure that i look out for all them. Each team is at least you know what the rolex bring more people but twenty thirty people depending and then. What is this year at the rolex we have nine cars three camaros for lax and two corvettes. So i guess if you add it all up it's quite a few people especially with delara and ecr and then our engine team at gm included in there <hes>. But like i said i. I don't really directly manage you. Know what the teams do in terms of telling the mechanics how to put the wheel on or anything along those lines. It's more so just giving them the connection. And then i control the purse strings for a lot of it especially the corvette program so you know ultimately it's like one of those love hate relationships. We have to work together to each. Get what we need
