"chessy" Discussed on Next Question with Katie Couric

"Brian Chessy game. By the way I do have a confession for you. When I was at Uber. A first of all I'm a I'm a nerd of marketing. Right I obsess over everyone's creative everyone strategy. Everyone's vision and I was absolutely in love with the idea of belonging. Thought it was just it just hit the mark so beautifully, because in that instance you don't have to pick aside, you know it's not your Ito. The folks who were booking versus the hosts. You know it's not. It's not versus this just belonging everybody wants to belong, and we all understand that from the very deeply emotional human level, and it is still true. It's what we are dealing with right now with crises in the world around racial inequality and everything else, everybody wants to be long. It is the fundamental need it know, and now I think there's also a an opportunity to serve in future hope about continuing to belong to the world, because what this pandemic has done has brought us home, and we are you know inside, and we're concerned and we're anxious but we also want to connect back to people and back to outside, and we all have a deep longing for that. So what do you think is the future of travel and of that belonging to the world? Because let me tell you something I'm tired of my house. Can I get? Membership. For airbnb where I could just frequently just move around the way I want to,.

"Be in trouble. A nationwide survey shows up to half of all small breweries doors in the next three months in South Carolina. Aptly named liability brewing. Dumping Two hundred seventy kegs. Business doesn't pick up the loss beers or about seventy thousand dollars back in Texas a brand new problem. The city water supply can't take gallons gallons of beer down sanitary sewer water treatment. Plant full the lane with all their draft beer now headed down the drain. The only hope left lies in consumers grabbing a cold one. We have a bottling line in a canning line so you know at least we can get beer to grocery stores and we did get RPG loan thankfully in the second round so hopefully. That'll give us some runway here in the short time when we kind of figure out how this is all going to shake out until then no shortage of liquid courage here Morgan Chessy. Nbc News Dallas. Airbnb Asks Shareholders to Share With Other Stakeholders

"Airbnb announcing it will consider all stakeholders when it comes to corporate governance. It says not just investors. It plans to take into account. Guess we're talking about this earlier hosts communities shareholders and employees plans to actually Basis compensation on this I spoke with CEO. Brian Chessy last night and he told me I don't want to be one of those. CEO's to say we're trying to do all this great stuff but then we treat board meetings exactly like every other board meeting. They're actually planning on creating a special committee on the board just to do this. And create a stakeholder day instead of shareholder day but it's obviously would include all of these other people it's going to be. This is what he says is the future of the way businesses are gonNA operate. Of course. There's a company that's going to likely go public later this year would be the biggest. IPO of the year when it happens and interestingly to to some degree you have to argue that the traditional shareholder will be diminished. I mean it. It seems like it's going to be a three. Winning Circus says look. He says it's not you know we're trying not it's a trade off against the other but he said look the future of all these companies to do this. This is somewhat what the Business Roundtable's talked about. It seems like he's he's trying to. He's not they're not part of the practice. But very very meaningfully way every one of those stakeholders have the same influence influence or is there a pecking order. The stakeholders is how I pushed him on that and I think that he was talking about. We don't want to trade one off the other I think invariably some we're going to have to have more power than others by the way right now regulators. I would argue. Perhaps more than any other stakeholder in his company probably are the the most important doing this before the IPO. I can understand why he'd want to do that. To fend off the regulators and to Tamp down criticism. That's come through but I don't don't know if you realize how difficult it is to be a public company because of all the CEO's who have taken their companies private again who have said forget it. It's too much of a hassle. That's when they're just doing dealing with shareholders folders. I mean to suddenly say I get having your employees at the table that makes a lot of sense but to suddenly say people who have no affiliation with the company. I think they need to do a much better better job of addressing those complaints. But I don't know if you want them at the stakeholders meeting having an equal vote or host the hosts who our customers and the the customers who are customers of the House and the person who happens to live next door and then the by the way they have some really good complaints. I see all the time on twitter. That's what they should do. A Better job of addressing. But do we want to bring them all into one meeting where this is happening look just addressed the people that are calling your customer complaint lines. It's going to be very interesting to watch. I imagined by the way they will have a direct listing as supposed to an IPO. In terms of how you think this is going to happen. which would be an interesting thing? They have historically not needed additional cash to raise so smart guy. Hey guys questions sort of how this all works itself out

Spurs a bunch of other sightings people are GonNa go on look and then anything weird that they see they're going to be like Jesse exactly and then they have this idea of like Oh what they're looking for so there's definitely people who say like okay what you put. You put the video on T._v.. Like then it's going to happen over and over and over again sort of priming people to see something no matter what they go out there and see yes so. What are you what what's your do you have a preferred theory diva favorite idea of what Chessy may or may not be? Are you believer you can be believer. That's okay off the call. I mean I feel better about believing in Chessy because I don't I hardly ever like swimmer vote in the Chesapeake Bay and there's something about like a monster. That doesn't seem very threatening. You know it's just like floating along like eaten. It's I mean it hasn't attacked anybody right so it's just letting along whereas like you have Mothman Othman or you can't trust them off man. You know like that seems really scary that you're going to be alone. I mean especially if you're driving through western Maryland or West Virginia Nia you're going to be out on a road and all of a sudden like winged creature with red is is GonNa land on your car like that's terrifying or just bad sightings off may where it's like a person's just woman's kitchen washing from the dishes and she looks up out the window and just read is staring at her yeah. Glowing Red is from a giant Mothman creature who joe I know what you're thinking but his wings were actually more like the wings of a bat. You just can't call it Batman because that's just going to confuse people right isn't the theory. The mock man is an owl. Is that the theory how dare you Joe. Oh sorry real episode probably a Barn L.. Some I shine happening but yeah that's also the case for the the Braxton county monster but I think the brexit monster it's not a barn out different. It's a barred owl. I think based on the research that I've done which I didn't do this kept oid episode on Braxton County Monster so the research only because done already done <hes> mouth man but you can't have them all okay so you're so Christina you're kind of comfortably happy with the idea that there's a chessy out there and that and one of the things that the community around the Chesapeake Bay area has done which I think is really fun is they're using Jesse to promote conservation of the waters yeah exactly so the fish and Wildlife Service had a coloring book that had Chessy is conservation you know mascot and then I think it's also interesting that the manatee that kept showing up there was a manatee that showed up multiple times in the Chesapeake Bay and they gave that animal the nickname chessy and they were tracking keeping an eye on it and try to figure out. Why was there her? I thought that's cute to that e on the little nickname and chess even though he wasn't a monster he was just acute manatee. If the waters keep getting warmer and spoiler warning they will to the point where like seagrass asserts growing in the area. I wouldn't be surprised if we started getting like stable. That's where we're at, but like the lighting super dark and would be in like a basement that looks like a seventies would grain basement like that that would panel wall. It looks like a fetish slingers party because you have very, you have the, I don't know. But then it's like they have to act like kids whether fuck. That's that's a world I can't. Yeah, for sure. I mean, like we're going to we kill people over one tweet. He had ten thousand. I don't. Yeah. I don't put the fact that even Colorado during it raises a double standard. The problem. This is the first time though I, this, Dave Batista guy who's in the guardians of the galaxy move. This is the first time that an actor has said, I will not come back if the directors and come back. So at least someone's putting their money where their mouth is where it's just like, all right, cool. I don't know how you're going to justify these these photos, but whatever. I guess he's not coming back, but now he has to stick to what he says. But these kids look attractive. Sure because they're grown woman and win in just this is ridiculous. Like grown-ups stressing children. The like no part of me wants to as a grownup. Just wanna just wanna act like a baby for the day. Never. It's not. It's not. It's not a thing to me. No fucking thing. No, you'll stick with your scat porn and be happy. Yeah, you don't like to get into weird stuff. Just scat born skep- horn, and then oil rig porn big into that. Okay. I like to, I like to find an oil reserve. Have that pop up, you know, oil over the bedroom. We mainly struck it rich Sexton the oil. That's my, it's there will be blood. Okay. "For a free informative booklet and dvd hey dr liederman were back where back we're talking about a forty nine year old woman who came in for valuation of recurrent left lung cancer very interesting story she went for a job interview and the job interview they asked her to get a chest x ray and she's found the have a laugh lung cancer and she went to the one of the hospitals and the tristate area and she had surgery and chemo and radiation standard stuff at this hospital and that was two years ago and then no follow up she didn't get any follow up i don't know it was because of the patient or the doctor donna what no follow up can you imagine that yeah well advanced lung cancer when through chemo radiation surgery no follow up and now she's going for a masters degree and they asked her for her chest x ray and shed a chest x ray and the cancers back so it was diagnosed because of a job interview and now it's diagnosed because of a master's degree and the cancers back and she's lost fourteen pounds in two and a half months she's one hundred eighty four pounds five foot three shows no lumps or bumps but she has worsening headache so wow she had a chessy t scan which showed recurrence of the cancer and a possible metastases to the adrenal gland she saw doctors but and she went to the emergency room at one of these big hospital but no one took a history didn't spend time and the didn't get this understanding that she's has worsening headaches and believe me lung cancer can spread it can spread to the adrenal glands and a conspired to the brain and yet no one asked to get a pet scan to look at her whole body no one asked to get an mri try to get a look at her brain and that's what she needs is a recurrent lung cancer should standard chemo standard radiation standard surgery and the cancer came back and she lost weight and have worsening headaches she needs to be evaluated and that's what we do here at radio surge in new york for new or recurrent cancers if you got worsening symptoms and no one's listening to you give us a call at two and two choices and make an appointment come in and you might get someone to work up your cancer even if you have symptoms that seemed to be ignored and that's what they've been in her they've been ignored imagine two years no follow up now with worsening headaches no scan scana the brain wow muslim sector liederman john is on the line dot question my brother recently had prostate surgery he elected to have his prostate removed i won't name the name of the hospital but just tell me your count about him while yes i'm calling about him i have a question so just tell me a couple of things before you go any further what's his age he's sixty in extremely good health and what's his psa and gleason score before the sir it was eight and nine psa was eight or psa was nine psa was nine gleason score was like an eight nine gleason was between eight or nine yes okay what's your question my question is well they his doctor elected to remove the prostate and now he said down your patient brother chose your brother chose to have the surgery okay now now that apparently the cancer read a little bit here maybe seminal walls the nerve and you're telling him that he needs new but they're telling him that he has to win a few months very you maybe built extremes upper you're on the inside and i just heard what you were saying about you know getting main right away that doesn't make sense me why why would they wanna wait i don't understand what great questions so let's look first at the data okay when i look at the data because i wanna use your brothers away to educate all of us including all the listeners so if your brother came to us he would have seen for gleason eight or gleason nine did the doctor tell him the success rate with surgery precludes an eight or nine by the way the cocker well accurate wedding bigger shooting given the choice to go see through different topic maybe.

"Some kind of fischel city approval where there's a limited number of of licenses they give out right so how does that work that is very true there are places in the country where let's say they're airbnb unfriendly cities in this is what you're seeing with not just airbnb home all kinds of sharing economy companies like uber uber was violently opposed in vegas and eventually they won you know and this is same thing airbnb according to the the actual company airbnb they say that eighty percent of places they operate in our fully totally legal and find operated ten percent of them are what they call in transition where you know the technology base as outpacing the laws in the rules and the trying to figure out what to do and then there's ten percent of cities like new york for example in manhattan where they just really discourage it and in san francisco and several cities like that so what i found is that with my students that have done this is that i encourage them hey look if you're living in an area like for example austin or new york city where it's restrictive i have a student several students in new york city actually and they just simply go across the river to new jersey and that's where they listings they looked within an hour radius of where they live and they get listings there so you don't have to do a property that's literally in your backyard and so it's it's it's it's really the owner brian chessy of airbnb says you can't stop an idea whose time has come and the thing is it's not going anywhere this whole concept of sharing economy and airbnb uber all these technologies are shaking things up and unfortunately we're in that transition face but the good news is it provides an incredible opportunity for those people who are getting into the wave early because it's projected that this this thing is going to continue growing at the astronomical rates growing for many many years so i am immediately tempted to hire a young hungry individual to essentially go out helped me din fine and manage these properties right because the management side is a big part of this you've got.

"When he got up like today after he got elected somebody from skift dot com actually contacted me and was like we wanna quote on how you think that his presidency is going to affect the you know your industry and i said well right now i think it's going to make our community tighter because we need each other now more than ever you know and it's flowing into some of the you know the new pieces of no madness and things that we're going to be rolling out in two thousand eighteen and i think all of that kind of stuff is like intersected you know i think with we were in partnership with airbnb even before airbnb while black so it was interesting to see kind of how they were dealing with it because of our relationship with them over the last couple years you know like i really you know they had to shake up in house sometimes you just have we were talking about this in the back sometimes you gotta shake up your team the cmo that they brought on board jonathan is amazing and used to work for coca cola he's like responsible for some of the dope it's like you know super bowl campaigns on and and go speaking directly to in like making it an effort you know they got in rome on for national partnerships she was the head of logistics for the women's march if you don't know who janetta she's dope they had to start hiring i actually last year met brian chessy the of airbnb and had a one on one conversation with him about this and what i did with these guys is that they bay admitted you know that there was something in the dna that was missing and this isn't on their radar because they are not black you know and so the team that they have in i can say the team that they've put in place i believe in them you know and they've been doing their work in that regard but then you also talk about things like competition like inclusive palms up and inclusive to be honest with you the idea actually started in no madness i remember when kia one of the founders she put the idea in no madness and i wrote in the group i said this is such a good idea you need to get this out of here and.

"Convinced come confusion for example we have a twenty seventeen sprinter says adventurous xl from road track is built on the twenty sixteen sprinter chassis but the model of the rv's twenty seventeen so i found that confusing when you first told me that i was like is i'm trying to explain it even sounds more confused i think pretty clear clear so the vehicle itself chessy is a twenty fifteen maybe the rv was built in twenty sixteen and so sometimes i'll say that's our twenty sixteen model because it may be have the twenty sixteen floor plans and all that so the best way to figure that out is one look on the sticker there's i think on the chassis it'll tell you what or you can look up the vin number and it will tell you what year the chassis was built under and ask your rv dealer and have them explain it to you they can probably explain to you better than i don't think it's ever any different than one year i mean one of back corner and sat there for five years and ups there's one i don't think now 'cause the spinner vance burner chess he's been so hard for dealers to get there just now coming into effect and there's a lot of concern about it because of of the ministrations new tariffs against some of the european union countries like mercedes brent benz and they're sprinters i don't know how that's all going to play out i know that sprinters is building a brand new factory and i think in north carolina or south carolina and i get that factory bill that's gonna help this is a tremendous demand for sprinters not just for the rv industry but they're very popular van ups use this fm uses them they get like two hundred and fifty thousand miles from so any sprinter the chassis that an rv manufacturer gets is going to be built on almost immediately so i think that problem is not going to be there in it probably was more prevalent back around twenty fifteen or so before this current rv boom really really began all right thank you much for all those questions we love getting.
