This program tell me when something is actually going to probably take place where I think they did, and that was been canceled again for a third time. Yeah. Can you imagine being that person who loves all these bands so much that every time you get a ticket every time you get reimbursed, it's got to be a hassle. Gotta be halfway 37 here cars for kids helping out with the news helping out with the Dr John Morrissey. But he seemed pretty good drive. Not a lot of accidents in your way looks like the clear in the crowd. In Glendale on South bound Colorado, Colorado was jammed up the street, not the state in all directions. Both directions right there. Cherry Creek Drive because of an accident in Glendale that's clearing still got a lot of delays there on the West side of town. Looks like South found Sheridan it ninth just before six to have you That's a bad crash, and it's really jamming of shared in both directions. "In the classroom for the spring semester with what he calls a roadmap to in person learning. Includes prioritizing testing for schools expanding contact Tracy capacity for schools continued mask word regular symptoms. Screening effective cohort ng Cherry Creek schools, announcing on Tuesday that students would return to the classroom in January. Right now, let's take a look at the return to you in person learning with Cherry Creek School Superintendent Dr Scott Siegfried on our live line. Good morning. Morning. How are you? Good before we get into the Cherry Creek's plans, What's your take overall on the governor's road map that they released yesterday. The details seem to coincide with everything that we need. But as we look at how it is it technically get implemented. I think that we still have a lot to learn about what the plans are. Speaking of this at least what are your plans? Doctor for Cherry Creek? What do you intend? We're gonna increase testing for students try to create that kind of bubble around our schools so that we can catch any asymptomatic students and isolate them in quarantine anybody we need but really trying Keep those sites safer that we can fix it. We can continue to operate. What we learned Clearly, First semester's that Kobe does really not spread any meaningful degree in schools. So we have to keep it out of school so that we're not sending large numbers of teachers home in quarantine and him. Impeding our ability to operate. Yeah. How important do you think it is to get kids back inside the classroom as far as the quality of the learning goes. It's critical when we think of the academic gaps of the social emotional gaps that are occurring Despite all the great efforts of teachers across Cherry Creek and across the state is still occurring and The best place for them to be is in the classroom. And there's nobody that doesn't want kids to be in the classroom. Everybody just wants them to be there safely. Okay. So on that next level when you talk about the social, emotional health of the kids, what about activities? I guess in particular sports. I know a lot of school districts have pushed off sports at least the winner part for another month. Is that something you see, maybe coming online sooner. Nothing. That's a question about the plan. The governor's plan We need to ask. My hope is that we are finding ways to give kids all the opportunities. You know if we're not able to get 40,000 students back in person for some reason, if the incidence rate is high, I still want us to work to find opportunities to get kids. Every in any experience they can get through this time instead of taking it away, So that's the way I would I plan to approach it. Our teachers on board this idea of getting back in the classroom and what do you do if they're not? Do you allow some toe stay home and continue to remote Teach. Well, we started an online school to begin in the year. So we have over 10,000 students in an online school. We help teachers that weren't comfortable or had underlying conditions to become teachers of the online school. Azzawi go back. I will tell you all teachers want to be in school with kids. It's not that they don't want to be. They just want to have that safety net around them. And so everything we've implemented has made school safe. The addition of student testing. I believe kind of sealed that deal, Doctor. I don't know This may be above your pay grade. But is there any requirement for your teachers? If they want to teach in person to have to get the vaccine? Is that even contemplated talked about? Is that realistic? Doable legal, I guess. I don't believe it is And so I can't compel require. I won't even track but what I will say is, once teachers have the opportunity to be vaccinated, then we're going to move forward with school. Almost regardless of the virus. Now, of course, I can't say that cause I can't say the future about help. Things will be later the year But once teachers have that opportunity, it's a game changer for us, and that's why we're advocating strongly for the commitment to be. For teachers to be vaccinated The top of phase two. Okay. I was wondering that exact thing if the governors come out and said, when exactly teachers will be able to get it. So when does that put us more like the spring April? That kind of timing. Well, I think you know that could be exactly sometime in the spring for a first in the second dose. But what that allows us to do is have a window to know that it's coming to get that morale boost for our teachers, but then also to think about the end of the school year. There's a possibility we could end this school year like we were not able to end last school year and start to get our kids back a sense of normalcy in our society back a sense of normalcy. That's what we ought to be focused on, Doctor. I've asked every educate a cater this, but it has this pandemic hasn't revealed any shortcomings that you have, at least with the educational system. Whether it's just literally in the classroom you're seeing with your educators are within your own school system that you realized this is an issue regardless of a pandemic. You know, this is an opportunity for us to re imagine Education and the Cherry Creek. We started that process. When everything is broken. You have to come out of it better than you were. And so they're just proportionality is an education that are being highlighted. There are practices that we've had in place just because we've always had them in place. And this again is the time for us to break those apart. And to rebuild better than we've ever been, You know, crisis is truly that opportunity to be better. And we're taking advantage of that. Here here. Cherry Creek School Superintendent, Dr Scott Siegfried. Good luck with the start of 2021 in the school year. Thank you. I appreciate it. Have a great.

"On dude. Dude, Kimberly Diamond Engagement and Wedding Ring Store in Cherry Creek north on Third Avenue between Fillmore in Detroit and in Inglewood at Broadway in Bellevue, 38. Minutes after I'm John killed, there are in Mandy Connell, give me a call three or 37138255. I said that wrong 713 85 85 7138585. All right, So we're talking about vaccines and covert and this and that Let's zoom moved to a different Issue on it. I am not in the studio right now. I am broadcasting from our studios at the Independence Institute. That's my real job. And it's great our producer Dave Lower, He's he's at home. Many of the shows you hear people are now on remote. And people can do things remotely. I believe a lot of His dis owners and managers. Have come to realize. People can be productive. Some people could be productive working at home. Some could be less productive. Some could be a lot more productive. And When you're working mostly on a computer and you're working on a team to still be able to talk to them and have seen their faces and work with them. Younger people because darn those young people are so flexible, malleable and up for new ideas. God, I hate them. Um, they they do this very easily, So they're at Starbucks, and they're also at work. Well, that means That a lot of Employers have realized I don't have to have as much office space I could save some money and I can still have Good, good authority over my people. I think a lot of managers were really scared about remote work. Now they're less scared. This is a good thing. And now they're bunch of parents who want to get out of the home because they want to go back to work and talk to adults. I get that, but if if you could work If you can work. Anywhere. And Still have your job in Denver. Wait a second. Why are you in Denver? Our crime rate is going up on murder rate is going up. We've got socialist burning things and toppling statues. We have homeless encampments. Needles and bottles and filth everywhere. All you need is an Internet connection. And you could live. Anywhere. What are you doing here? Well, it's beautiful there, skiing. That's why More people are buying things in the suburbs. People are moving out to the burbs. They want to get out of the downtown craziness. As it gets ugly. I think Denver is turning into what New York City was before Giuliani cleaned it up. Well, what about those cities that have plenty of room where you could buy a house? That's a mansion. Here. Watch the knees. Homebuilding shows there's when I saw it. They film it in North Carolina, and you know they're showing this house for $300,000 or something, and it's a mansion. By Colorado State Services. A mansion now I don't think I like it. I like the one with a wraparound porch. Yeah, it's a mansion. Don't check this out. This is from Fox Business News. And it It goes like this. There are cities out there. That want to grow. Unlike cities like Boulder that want to stay small and use the law to to do that. There are other ones that Want to grow. And as businesses will allow Employees to work remotely. Why are you living here? What you like to work someplace else? Would you like some financial encouragement? To go someplace else. Cities that are paying you to move there. That's right. So in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's called the Tulsa remote program. They will give you Tulsa, not a bad place. 10 Grand $10,000. Which goes a long way to buy in a nice house and Tulsa. And a membership at some co working space. The program intends to attract and I quote a diverse group of talented professionals across multiple industries to the city. Mm. The ideal applicant has a full time job but can work from anywhere to be eligible. You have to be over 18 live outside of Oklahoma. Be able to work remotely. And be able to move to Tulsa within six months. You have to be able to work in the United States Legally, That's it. That's it. 10 grand to work in a place that is more spacious, less expensive. Not nearly as crazy. Well, you know, mountains. What If it helps. I believe in Oklahoma, every single county in Oklahoma. Voted for Trump. So You might feel welcome there. How about this? Would you want to live in the Ozarks? After watching Ozark on Netflix. No. Now I do not want to live in Ozark. Those who watch it understand what I'm saying. The Northwest Arkansas Council is offering remote workers 10 Grand Horse. Bicycle. Bicycle to move to Betton in Washington counties. Council has $1 million to offer new residents aims to attract science, technology, engineering, math, medical professionals professionals. To quote build a richer, long term talent pipeline to support the region's economy. That's pretty genius. So, for instance, here in Colorado, we have lots of people. With college educations, lots of people with college degrees. We don't Have is very working class Folks. T do a lot of the heavy lifting on a lot of these places. It's the opposite, and they want to get educated people who are making a lot of money into their town to be able to make. Be able to make more. Money to build more things. To pay more taxes. Fillmore businesses. Let me go through a couple more of these. Is this something you would be interested in three or 3713 85 85. Wouldn't you like to live? In Savannah. Savannah, honey. Sylvana Economic Development Authority is offering to pay tech workers up to $2000 and moving expenses. To relocate to Chatham County. Hmm. Show enough. Two grand to live. In Savannah. Differences. They have to pay me more than that to live in Savannah. Can't Yeah, that's actually the to get take the humanity. John. That's the worst deal to move to a place in this article. But the next one's pretty good to peek in Kansas, Topeka, Kansas. Thank you for getting the punch line. The Topeka, Kansas is offering you $15,000 to be a new resident of Shawnee County. Wow. Program matches employers funds to pay $10,000 to new residents who are renting or 15,002 new residents who purchased the home. In order to help it grow is this This is so different than The elitism where I live in Boulder, where they have this no growth policy, which means poor.

"Dot com and you can watch the videos got plenty of videos on there are different retirement topics certainly, and maybe market volatility, taxes and the like. There's a lot of different topics on their wise assets podcast dot com. And if we don't talk about something that maybe you have concerns about or Matt says something that caused you to have some concern. Give the team a call it 7 to 0931 65 67 to 0. 931 65 60, and we're excited Sean in the baseball team coming to the end of the baseball season there a tournament champions. Finally, finally we got the monkey off our back. We finally finally won one, which was awesome. May came down to the wire, too. But it was a lot of fun because you got about a lot of fun. But what about five runner up finishes? So finally did? I did. And so, finally we create practice. He'll you know, he got the monkey off our back is all coaching, right? Absolutely. Absolutely. But one of Finally, one a good one man, good team from Colorado Springs. And it was a lot of fun. But one last 1 10 8 came down the last inning bottom of and it was pretty awesome. Well, that's cool. So is that kind of the end because schools back or what? Yeah, and school's back, and that's a little bit a lot. A lot of what we're going to talk about today, Right? What are the new normals? You know, what are the expectations going forward and what changes you have to make in your life? Because the rules have changed. Right rules are going to change. And you know, Shawn's going back in his first week of school, Cherry Creek School District, It's you know, Monday's they have a catch up where they gets the basic call and ask questions if they have, But if they don't They really don't do anything. And then on Tuesdays and Wednesdays there in school, But when they go to school, mass all the time backpacks sit with just one person at lunch. They sit at a desk with just one person when they leave the room. Even if they're going across the hall, mark, they gotta walk all the way around to the right. So they follow these arrows. So they're doing a really good job. And then on Thursday, Friday, it's virtual. So that's really it. So you know, just like kids. We're gonna have to get used to the changes that are out there. I think that I'd like to talk about today. Are you ready? And you prepared for the changes that are gonna happen with retirement planning going forward and your money? My God, I think I don't know if I could do all that to they have to do what I now know. It's 60. I get a little bit more attitude and me. I think that I will go with the flow. Yeah. Yes, Sean comes home. What happened? He says, Well, we're all out there. We got doing lunch for about 20 minutes and that the socially distance and they're outside. They found a tennis ball..

So there is still that Europe concerns. I know that Way as a whole. We've spoken a staff and we do want to be back with our kids. 100% just can we have more. The plan outlined You know what to expect when we do go back? Yeah. You know what, Lin? Thanks a lot for the call him hanging on. I think that is an absolutely reasonable request. Andi. I think that's something that teachers should have in place. They should have an understanding like OK, tell me exactly what we are doing as a school to ensure as best we can. That we're safe and our kids are safe. How is that going to work? Not she lives. She's in an area that the numbers are low. And she says they have seen no plan. And if, in fact that's true, and I have no reason to doubt her word. Well, then, you know, I wouldn't want to plan before I went back. And honestly, I'm surprised they don't have one. Here we are at the end of July. We've been in this pandemic. Everything's been shut down since March school starts in two weeks, and there's still not a plan, which I heard from one of another teacher that one of their schools. It's a private school, but they Built a couple extra classroom's around there, you know area that they can and that the specials teachers gave up their classrooms and the teachers are going to rotate. So the kids stay in the same classroom. You're only gonna have 11 in each class. And then the teachers will rotate like the specials. Teacher will come in to do special class. You know our gym. Photography. I know for the Cherry Creek's photography for the Cherry Creek School district there. I mean, normally speaking, there are eight believe eight periods during the day. In a normal year for let's say Cherry Creek High School. What they were talking about doing was knocking that down to two. And those class periods, which normally are 55 0 minutes. Those would be extended to three hours, plus so two classes per day of free hours Plus trying to limit the passing period ability of kids, too, you know, transfer and limit their lunch opportunities where they sit around and That sort of thing. So, but I don't know. If every school district has come up with with plans or not. 9 55 is our time. We will come back. Doctor. Excuse me. Reverend Leon Kelly will join us just after 10 o'clock. "Massive" search for woman with gun who threatened Columbine

"Well, we start in Denver where schools in the greater Denver area will be closed today. Because Thorndike's search for a woman who may described as armed and infatuated with the Columbine mass shooting days before the twentieth anniversary of the attack. Pretty strange story. Local state federal officials are all working together. They're searching for soul pies who is eighteen she made credible but unspecific threats after traveling from Miami to Denver on Monday night. She's considered dangerous. And there's a lot of people looking for her after she arrived in Denver. She immediately. We went to a store and bought a pump action shotgun and amunition. She's considered a threat to the community and to schools, but no one formation on any specific threat to any particular location. This is a big deal for people living in Colorado. However because nearly twenty school districts in the greater Denver area are going to be closed on Wednesday to these security concerns as they wait to see if they can catch this woman. Twentieth. Anniversary of the Columbine high school shooting comes up soon the school districts affected include Douglas, Aurora, Jefferson County, cherry creek Columbine is in Jefferson County for the record the Colorado department of education recommended that Denver areas schools conduct lockouts and controlled release on Tuesday so schools went into lockdown mode yesterday exterior doors relax school continues as normal, but they are on on extreme high alert. I guess it'd be the way to describe this. So the wait and see what happens, but this was seeing this was seen to be credible enough threat. Where they are not taking any risks with this on Wednesday. She was seen wearing camouflage pants. They know she has the shotgun. She went into the foothills that was where she was last seen. But according to police, her comments or actions, and some of the witnesses that know her say that they should be concerned that she is going to do something. So her image is being circulated. She's five foot five again, black t-shirt camouflage pants and black boots. And that's what they're looking for today in

"Where all the politics happen. That's not a coincidence. Stop complaining. It's just it's it's unseemly Rene you on KOA NewsRadio. So my wife, and I just wanted to founding members only the second charter school interior creek. And I tell you they they tried everything to not allow them to have that charter school in. You know, I I have three boys in the first years when both of them went through. It was fine only. Now, my third one. He kind of got the short end of the stick because they really dumped it down so much that this charter school is just thriving. Well, that's one of those things that it's good to know. But it's frustrating for me. I had a woman KYW here a while ago. And argue with me that it was. That there was tons of charter schools in cherry creek. Oh, no. She said there was no chin charter schools in cherry creek because the school system was so good. They didn't need any. And I'm like, no, I know that there's. There's a couple there's there are charter schools in cherry creek will there's cherry creek academy is those founding the first one and now the second one is heritage heights academy. So that's two. "Call it. I don't know Denver public schools. Jeffco? And I think the cherry creek had a late start. We were our late today for the Douglas county. Well, which I can understand the late star because it was because Kohl's no storm. And then it's the traffic in the morning. It's crazy. You know, just let them have an get school buses the Denver teachers have to continue to negotiate with the district because if not they're going on strike Monday. They're more money. Well, they deserve the teachers deserve more money. I was I was reading a little bit about that. They they've offered I believe is a three million dollars total extra. But there are so many teachers. The teachers are underpaid. I know there are some people probably some people that work at the station that would disagree. My my suggestion would be for you to spend a month in a classroom high school classroom and see how it is to teach today, and then come back and make the case that teachers are not deserving more money. I teachers are underpaid in my book. There's no question about that. And I would like to see that rectified as best possible. I wonder if they could do something to with parents because I'd be willing to give more money to get the teachers pay more does go to a private school. Well, I would be the answer be what you would do. Well, if you're willing to pay more money, go ahead. You're right. Thousand dollars in Senator private school. I would rather take that fifteen thousand give it to the public school. Teachers. Enough. There was a way to have like a fun that you could donate. Everybody writes, a check for fifteen thousand I'm saying, whatever you can you don't have to give fifteen thousand, but whatever you can to pay extra for the teachers in a lot of cases, private schoolteachers make less than public schoolteachers because the private schools don't have a union to deal with right? So they're going to pay whatever they feel like is is fair pay. It's interesting apparently this school, Colorado schools are at the bottom of pay for the country. There are some school districts where they get paid. Really, well, and I know because one of my best friends taught in the Chicago area told me what he made I was shocked what he made in even he was embarrassed to tell me you were shocked in terms of how much money Malaysian-made. Yeah. My mom, he retired. He got a pension to ago at his full his highest pay of his career for the rest of his life. Teach. There was like ninety thousand or something something thousand dollars. Wow. Brandon your mom's retired here taught sixteen in Illinois twenty nine in Texas her pension, and Illinois is significantly more than her Texas pension by Illinois pays really well. So give me a ballpark. What is your friend? Like, what was the ballpark number nine hundred thousand that he's making for the rest of it. How many years that he taught taught probably twenty five to thirty. Yeah. I think there would be will ninety might be up there. I think there would be administrators. I mean deans that after a good number of years might approach that number. I don't know about classroom teachers in Colorado. I think that they wouldn't make that I don't think he was a P E teacher. Oh, wow. PE teacher. All he had was a bachelor's degree. Didn't have a masters didn't have a PHD. He ended up at the end of his career. He was like assistant vice principal or something. Thus. You got Mormon got like the last couple years. He was able to really capitalize on that pension. Like, he's my age. He's gonna make ninety something. Plus. He doesn't have to work. No. He's just took took another job as kind of like the pension from the FOX in it. I mean, similar if you decided not to do you guys. Don't do the morning show. I don't know tomorrow. Have a pension on the FOX. Read that's two dollars. I feel like I wish I could give east and teachers more money. You know what I'm saying? They're dealing twenty-five kindergarteners. Yeah. That's all day long. I mean that just seems really hard and they're not getting paid anything direst untracked cash. It's like college recruiting. Kathy just walks in with a bag full of money. Thompson come here. Here's five hundred dollars hundred ninety nine hundred they don't have to declare it to the Bank. So just give them a cashier's check for ninety nine hundred. Yeah, I'm sure that will get around the school really fast. We like to have eastern in our class. We'd like you to be the chair of five different committees. I know they do a fundraiser for the school like we're having a rare. But that goes to all the extracurricular things, you always sort of. I don't know if you chair the fundraise, but you're always always help. Absolutely. Because I I always have felt that teachers should get paid more money. He told me that the Chicago Tribune got ahold of how much money they were making it his district and made a big deal about it. And like people were shocked like, are you kidding me? You're paying these guys that kind of money to be a PE teacher work nine months out of the year. Really? And he said it was a big deal. That's why he said I'm embarrassed to tell you what's happened to this state. I don't know why why are the salaries of teachers in this state? So I dunno dramatically low to good question the states to win really? Well, eric. Hi, you're on KOA. Hey, guys morning. And I love Dave long time. Thank you. I just like the way in a little bit. Some teachers do is there more. So maybe not. But I I have a problem with administrators like Denver public schools. The superintendent of Denver public schools makes twenty thousand dollars a month. Well, maybe he should take some of that money out of his pocket and give it to the teachers. Well, he is a she. I think is is that not correct. Well, no the fill in when she is not there. They said it on crack Clark said that are nine news. He fill in while they were trying to find the new one was making twenty thousand dollars a month. I thought the Denver public school superintendent was Susannah Cordova Cordova a brand new one. Yes, sir. Tom, boys. Berg Berg was the one who was there before. So maybe make a lot more money than the teachers is what he's trying to say that. I mean, I think that's the case in in all school districts. All right interesting. Let me let me get a news break in here. And then we've got another twenty five thirty minutes on the other side this KOA News Radio. We we're Valentine's Day coming up guys. It's going to be here before you know, it take care of that special lady in your life or ladies. Yamana get something for your wife. You want to get something for your mom your mother-in-law few have daughters. You wanna take care of them as well. I did this this week. The girls in my life all got taken care of Tuesday. I sent some Sheri's berries and some red roses, and that's a great deal. They got going on right now. And you can't go wrong, the berries dipped in milk and dark and white chocolate. Goodness.
