Why Do We Need a Black 'Wonder Years'?
"The way, I just saw the commercial for the fucking black one to years. That's produced by Don Cheadle. It ain't enough. It ain't enough that we had white Kevin Arnold in the 1D is one of the literally my favorite show outside of like the classics all in the family and Sanford and et cetera mesh. But the wonder years. In the 80s, it was the one that reasons why I wanted to become a writer. That narration. That narration of a youthful stories. Well, what do you think I'm doing now, guys? What do you think I'm doing now? I'm doing what Bob Saget did and what got into my head in the 80s watching a young Kevin Arnold. And the fictitious neighborhood that really was Long Island. That's a whole story for another day because the creator was a Long Island guy, et cetera, et cetera and blah blah blah. But anyway, here we are. I'm doing that now. It's amazing what you can pick up. So maybe some black kid will see the black one the years. Produced by Don Cheadle and he'll think, well, I can do that too, and, you know, it could be great, but I Jesus Christ. Don't we already, don't they have their black? Don't they have everybody hates Chris? Isn't that the black one do you use? Why do we need this other show now? Can the placating stop can the ass kissing stop black people have their own everything? Their own network, their own fucking month. They're on awards shows. If we did that as white people, it'd be a high crime. But hey, black guys, yeah, go ahead, make a black mash, make a black 1D. It's actually very embarrassing. If I was a black dude, I'd say, man, we are so creative. We don't need to do over white shows.

I says there wasn't a lot of basketball. Being played off on the side on onset but he did say that like lebron saw him shooting at one point pre credit and praised him complimented him for like making eight shots enron. Malcolm's like all right. That's it i'm out. I'm not gonna take another shot. Did you have any moment like that with with him. Was there any basketball being played. Or were you like you know what you don't want to shoot around like one of the greatest players of all time. I love shoot around. I would have been shooting around the whole all the time you know my my character however was often wearing cgi close. That would nothing i was ever wearing was conducive to shoot around And you know at the time. Lebron was nursing an injury and like the last thing. I wanted to be with the dude who was playing basketball with him when he pulled up or something. You know probably probably call all right so he didn't see you shooting the way he saw malcolm shooting then. There was no no moment like that. Oh what malcolm shop narrows malcolm claims. I'm taking matters word that he made eight shots and wrote one point and lebron like saw the saw this and like you can really shoot and then malcolm was like he stopped right there. That was it no more no more for any moment they were devotees a. J. he went today to cedric. Who plays the son and he would always go at it and if he was that was actually some cool stuff to see is not been playing but the to c. cedric. You know Getting tips on moves from from From the bronx and How like just their report was great. I remember one day. I was asking the brian about just like when he comes back. Because you're gonna run point you're gonna play the two. What was know what was going to happen on their team and you know kind of us chopping that up and him kind of standing there with his arms crossed on house educated. Just kinda relaxing just talking and just cetera like being you know from here hanging out with the branch he was just so geeked about the whole thing to see their report was really really nice because it was a really easy one. When you see the movie you believe that their father and son it really is. It's a nice relationship like you could really feel. It felt very genuine. Oh absolutely they were just super. That's you know that's that's the cool thing about is how relaxed they had become around around each other And that there's a genuine affection between the two of them. It's just it's nice to see lebron better actor or you better shooter. Who's better than the others field while until the knee. And so i you know i had to retire. Because my knee say Why is it has to be better so you know uh with federal worse very sports writer question yes it is I would say my prime probably better shooter than no. I'm not gonna say that. I'm not fallen through track. Nothing fair enough. How about a different trap. Better actor in a space jam movie. Lebron m j. Oh god you really. You really have to be an comfortable spot. When i see either. I think that. I think in the bron- had would ask you to do more than than michael had doing. The further you know. The brian has has more more things that he had to try to pull off in this movie. So just you know. It's like how i feel about. The oscars malcolm mcdowell is the person that said earlier was like. You can't say who's the best and everybody's doing the same thing you can't compare where lebron has to do versus what my glad to different parts But i think that that. But i think because of you know having the first ones to and not just that experience of being like you said but bernstein commercials is that this is a lot more for him to look at it and learn from that you know. He's benefited from that for sure. Yeah no. I think that's fair to like the with michael kind of a one off. Obviously he's done a ton of commercials but he hadn't really spent time dedicating himself to to acting acting in movies and lebron has already done that so Besides that michael. Michael one of the great old time turns on saturday night live back in the day so he gets a pass. Exactly exactly up with al franken exactly that. That was the first thing i thought of michael with al franken was Was amazing any anything else. Any other memorable moments from From the set or any any other putting things before. I let you go Now i don't have any anecdotal stuff. Just in you know we were a the film had gone through Changes in personnel changes. Tricky stuff and to be able to come back with my and and ultimately pull it off I think is really great. You're gonna told bryant one point when he was you know showing up after rehearsal getting therapy you know. Pt and all stuff and putting the team together and then he'd be there in time in costume ready to go. I was like you being a much bigger dealer so you. You're you're really being a good team. And i'm here for it so it good see i was. I was not surprised that he would be that way that i definitely appreciated that. You know he puts the movie. I we're doing the movie i know. At some point he was like what the hell does. I think it's like this is nothing like what i have to do. This is nothing like you know playing ball like i'm not i'm not there for fourteen hours. Yeah five week. I guess we shouldn't be surprised that he was as all in committed to this as he would beat anything else though right like that. That's that's his character. That's what we know of him right. Exactly all actually less quick detailed question. What what kind of wind did you buy. You said you got the bottle of wine at the for the rap. What was the what kind of. Now i said oh bottle. I didn't say it wasn't why it was okay with the i think it was the the nine hundred forty two into food. What's the label at think it's done. Julio represented oh gotcha. I didn't know it was always took lebron's a wind guy could. That's kind of a thing. He walks into staples center with the with the glass of wine. So no no he was. He's a you. Don julio guys gotcha good good to know good stuff done. It's been great man. I really appreciate your spending time. Thanks so much Big fan of your work of course and pleasure to.

"Copyright 2021 bank of america corporation but my curiosity as somebody who's covered the nba for a long time is just obviously what it's like for actors directors everyone else to share this space with lebron. That is obviously not his usual. Place of dominance. So let me. Just start with this. Actually you obviously have spent you know your life in entertainment. I kind of assume sometimes that celebrities don't get nervous anxiety around other celebrities. But it's it's lebron james. He's celebrity of a different type. So did you know him before is. Do you ever get any nerves around somebody. Who's a celebrity of a different field. I mean i don't know nerd right reword maybe but there's definitely an excitement around meeting somebody Like the bronze. Who is you know. One of one in many ways and Kind of i think the nerves would probably would be less Meet him meeting me. Sort of On my field because me You know do anything in his world So i it was a great experience and he definitely brought all of his professionalism than and and you know team team kind of concept and identity to the set and we had a great time. Did you know him at all before. Had you guys cross past award shows or events now we had never met before Before i met him on But obviously it's been a lot of times there and At things outside of their you know seeing that the random birthday party and and whatever else event was going on dinners and things but We you know kept in touch since then and It's it's nice to in rare to make another friend that dick's as an adult. Yeah and and obviously. I'm sure you mutual respect is guys who were at the top of your very different fields So what is what is the ongoing conversation relationship now like with obviously the base of having worked together on this project and now you guys are social. What's without revealing anything. Obviously to private. What are the techs conversations like when you're texting lebron in the course of a season well. They're not always you know basketball related. They're they're often about everything that's happening outside of that. You know politics for sure of of especially this last year Nope we're both fathers. So you know that those subjects come up we talk about that stuff and really music. Literally whatever is is happening. That'll pop up. You know they'll send me a random about coming and we'll have a conversation and you know it's just one of those ongoing things I was definitely In communication with a lot during this series And you know. I would always send him some or some try to spend some inspirational quotes or you know something funny or you know before the game and he was you know we just get back and forth on those things so you guys have become like genuine genuine friends. Yeah that's what i'm saying is that it's it's rare to make well often you know in these. Do these projects actors. We like form. These kind satellite. You know families that are hang really really hard you know. You're on the set fourteen hours a day and spending a lot of time together onset So that bonding you know happens but often then we go all go off and do our own things. And don't you know some people have haven't seen again after having such a a a close and you know sorta concentrated experience. But like i said it's the same touching and That's kind of cool is. Can you give me like what's the best meam or inspirational quote. You might send him during the playoffs. Oh my god. I don't know i can look them. I don't know always whatever i've you know. It depends what he did. They lose the game win the gate you know. They lost the game then he should. I try to go. You know may one one if somebody's celebrating doing some you know latest victory dance. Whatever you know. It's usually harder but he doesn't need to. She doesn't even the past or another someone told him. He's a fully formed adult so it's just to let them know you know thinking about him and big from the fought fair enough done. How big of an nba fan were you Prior to working with lebron and the honest answer where you actually a lebron fan or a laker fan or what were you rooting interest prior to to work on the film. Lebron you know since since he came into the league just with a phenom. And i i love you know and i asked him about it. You know his first year in the league or first few months in the league. But i remember more about him than anything his passage for the dime that he would be spending two people that going through you know has been the space time continuum. I just remember so many teammates not being ready for them but they didn't think they could possibly get through the spaces that he would get them through and And so fast and hard you kind of had to learn how to how to how to you know modulate that and we talked about that. I'll just say like them. People weren't ready for that. You know ten back collapsing emojis. I had a lot to learn. You know he's very humble. It's the same thing about it. Yeah but You know. I really started getting heavily into basketball when i moved to la. So you know the lakers fan. During the magic and worthy era you know byron all those and it's cool to now later in life like no all of those guys you know and be able to.

"The actor for days and hours and weeks at a time We'll turns out. It's pretty enjoyable also Different different but really enjoyable These guys talk about becoming friends with him. Or in malcolm lease case trying not to become friends The text exchanges. That don cheadle now has with lebron playing basketball or try not to play basketball around the bron. There's just all kinds of fun little ins and outs of of what. It's like to be onset making a film with lebron james. Think you're going to enjoy both of those guys before we get to that. A reminder please rate review and subscribe to the crossover wherever you get your podcasts and you can always hit me with your feedback on twitter at howard beck. Okay my interviews with malcolm lee. I followed by don cheadle coming up so stick around. This is a crossover an nba show hosted by sports. Illustrated's chris mannix and howard beck. It's a whole new level for you chris. This relationships can subscribe for the best weekly nba content. These two are capable of. What does that mean could be. The best duo can beat that here. They are chris. Mannix and howard beck now very pleased to be joined by the director of space jam. New legacy malcolm d lee malcolm. Welcome how are you. i'm brian. Thanks for having me. Thank you for spending some time so before we talk about the film about lebron's role in this film. The obvious question in coming to this project. I assume you're an nba fan and you're a native new yorker. I assume knicks fan. But sometimes i shouldn't make those assumptions. What was what are your nba. Passions prior to lebron entering. Your your film life. it's funny Yes a huge. Nba fan huge basketball. Fan since I was early teenager And yeah i mean i. I'm starting to come back to the knicks You know i never left really but it's been difficult Having grown up in the eighties nineties and seeing patrick ewing who also went to my alma. Mater coaching al-matar. You know Is is You know it's hard to to see the futility and the mismanagement that's been happening You know So but it seems like they're turning around So i'm happy about that. I was was pulling for brooklyn Before they you know mortgage their future twice You know. I i feel like you really didn't all star team right now. There was some good pieces of a good team. Jared allen dinning and karen avert and let them all go so you know i. It's it's i love kyri. I love durant. I love hardened but dang all the same team. It's it's it's todd. And i will tell you that. The here's the other thing i am. Yes i am a new yorker. What am i button. My childhood buddies happens to be the president of the bucks. So i i do a little bucks loyalty as well. Believe mr fagin. That's right peter fame right now. I don't call him mr fagin. Reagan was his dad. But no he's he's peter to me and a bunch of names. I can't say podcast. You got some conflicting loyalties in the in the nets buck series. I guess so this. This leads me to this important question. Then i need the honest answer prior to working with lebron where you rooting for or against lebron fan was he. Somebody that you you gravitated toward has an nba fan. How what was your lebron standpoint. I tell you what i love. Lebron james love him you know. From from the moment he came into the league were mike consciousness. i've really enjoyed him in and and i've been ruining for him for very long time. we in fact we were. We were scheduled. It's work together twice before You know when he you know when he was and second thirty year league rich paul had called me about. You know. Possibly doing something with him. Couldn't i couldn't figure out what the what the idea was. And then we gotta do this thing with imagining universal about it like a fantasy basketball camp and we were going down the road with that like right before he joined the heat. So i've been lebron fan for a very long time i know i'm gonna date myself by saying like. Oh what's up super team. When he joined the heat i was like he could not find a way to win in cleveland. Then he came back to winning cleveland so i applaud him. I think he's a winner. I think he's you know he's stands for everything good in the world. You know in human beings. So i i really i really would for lebron and have for a while so that was an easy thing then to to be working with them. It wasn't like bringing in somebody who was like. I've been like boeing. You and like root for against your so. This was an easy easy thing to it was. It was an easy. You know thing for the brian. For sure i mean like you know. Bandana work with the guy You know And so it was it was. It was a great a great opportunity. I assume somebody in your position having worked in film for probably your entire life. You're kind of numb to celebrity. A certain point. But it's lebron james. There's a different kind of thing when it's athletes versus actors and everything else. Was there anything to are. There are nerves the first time you're working with lebron directing lebron anything you have to overcome as a fan now working with them as the director. Here's what i had to overcome. I had to overcome trying to be his friend. His boy known i mean like and and but because i was like. That's not going to serve me. Well it's not going to serve the movie. Well so i kept my kept my. You know my phantom at at at bay and said okay. This is the director actor relationship here Unfortunately we had met before and then he's got to notion that much better and the great thing was he was very trusting of me I guess because he had seen this up. And i had done and was when i'm giving direction is not the trust. You know that. I that. I'm i'm after something and it's funny. There was one time Where where i we. Were shooting an exterior in a basketball court. And lebron always takes time to shoot or whatever so so one time i was shooting with him and i had shot and i make sure not to shoot around with him at all like you know and it was communism i just i just did it. Very very sporadically like onset. When we're doing interior exterior. We had a little downtown. When i was shooting and i must have hit a eight neuro right and lebron says you can shoot. I stopped shooting after that. That's it he's never gonna see me shoot again because i'm never gonna get better than this. How far were you when you hit those eight shots in a row. After ask a. I was at least a topic. He extended respectable always respectable and he wouldn't have said that he would lebron james as you could shoot then that's legit no doubt at you you were right to go out on that Yeah that was it. Yeah i've i've rule personally. I will never ever try to do anything with the basketball. My hands well. Nba players are anywhere within a mile of me. It's.

"Michael jordan had a harder job as an actor then lebron because michael interacted with less humans. Then lebron because lebron had don cheadle and then in the old one. Danny devito was an animated villainous. Well so he had. He had a harder job. I personally think. I love lebron in trainwreck. I don't know if you guys have ever seen trainwreck. Amy schumer film that movies excellent and he is excellent and he's really really funny. I don't know where his acting went. 'cause he is pre awful in this movie not say michael jordan is any better but he is pretty damn terrible. It is so stiff The beginning of this movie is the same opening as the original sham. He is a little kid. Then we get to a highly real for the credit which is the same. As the michael jordan won the own. I will say like the beginning of this. Movie is very very boring. I don't like the fact. I mean they take around the same time it gets to the looney tune world but i guess i was more entertaining michael jordan sucking at basketball. I mean baseball then. Lebron is kids. So i didn't work for me there once we get the looney tunes. Oh the movie. Changes dramatically for me in terms of entertainment value like looney tunes are fantastic. A daffy star of the show by the way writer. I don't agree with that. Your favorite But the ip usage here. Leo is worth a watch..

Saw probably is up to the point where it's like right the beginning where she changes are hairstyle so i didn't get very far this at all to me from what i saw. It seems a little dark little not dark. it's just slower. And maybe not. I mean obviously the content and what the the stories about. It's a revenge story. You know what i mean. But i don't know it just seemed to grim. I can't explain it. But i don't feel that i could really give an accurate review from what i saw. I don't know but on the other hand. I don't know if i'm going to come back to especially after hearing you guys. Yeah i. I'm i might give it another episode. I want to get to the jared harris stuff and then. I'll go from there something that i'm never going to watch again as space jam legacy this dropped on. Hbo max i jake. I didn't see this in the theater. I i was going to see it in the theater. And then i just a fuck it. I'm gonna watch it at you chose correctly. I did choose correctly. This is i thought it was terrible. I'm actually. I'm hearing that. Maybe don chattels going to get an oscar nomination for it though. You're kidding well got for his emmy. Got an emmy combination with now nicely. Do joe's ever fuck and five seconds in the alcs and we're gonna soldier just an emmy nomination superstar superstar lebron james and his son dom get trapped. I love how his name's dom this is a family story. It's very much your family's story. They get trapped in digital space by rogue ai to get home safely. Lebron teams up with bugs. Bunny daffy duck and the rest of the looney tunes gang for high stakes. Basketball game against the is digitized. Champions of the court of our roster called the goon squad lebron james and cheadle and little real. How're recent equal martin. Green from issues in walking dead. She was in new season new star trek discovery. Thing to this is fucking terrible. Oh my god this is fucking awful. There's a couple of funny parts. I did love like when they win. Like the warner brothers universe. The digitize universe warner brothers and corn leghorn was on the game of thrones dragon. Isa he say. He said he said winter. I say winter is coming. I last harder at the first nation of aren't they did. This is good. It's funny but overall man dude. Like i thought lebron lebron james and it's like really funny and good in trainwreck. With amy schumer and bill hater. But when you make him like the main character of a movie and you let him just. I don't know it was bad. And i'm not saying like and here i'm one of those people like the original space jam. Movie like i saw came out in ninety. What ninety six that's right. I think and i was a bulls fan. That's the only reason. I watched it. Then because i was a huge bulls fan. I'm still about those fan. But was a huge bulls fan huge jordan fan. That's the only reason i watched it. I didn't think that movie was good. And i know there's a lot of people that love it and think it's a great movie and they have a lot of an astrologer for it. I didn't think that was a good movie. I but i think that like if i'm comparing original space jam to this third like the original space. Jam is the citizen kane of space gems. Compared to this this was absolutely terrible The version of time channel turns into basketball player version of him. Sell weird looking terrible. Hated this i give it a toss who des let. Let me talk this hurt. Lloyd's in it and it had jabber jaw that this movie was completely irredeemable. It was z. Worst movie i've seen all year honestly. I was open to this movie to. I'm a huge warner brothers animation looney tunes mark. I was like well. These don't have that and it'll be funny for that. I miss. I haven't heard the looney tunes in quite a while. I think the modern day voices for these characters are fucking awful. Just terrible the bugs does not sound like bugs and i hate to sound like a fucking boomer complaining about that kinda shit but it really bothered me. I thought the voices were really bad. none of the jokes hit the ridiculous. Lebron was so fucking flat. He was like a fucking two liter. Seven up that you left out for five weeks in the hot sun like it was that but damn yeah. I would argue with you. Yeah this was. This was fucking care. Voi- it made me mad. It was so bad. Because like i said i didn't even come at this as a ater i was like i'm a fan of these properties. This is gonna be fun. But all the properties were misused. All the game of thrones and harry potter dc comics and all of it like you have all of that to mind for laughs and this movie couldn't find a single fucking one. It was terrible. I will pass for the sake of time. I will not bitch about this movie for an hour. The didn't anybody else steve. Dan did you guys watch this one. L. no i didn't watch that movie. I knew what was coming. I'm busy man brian. Let's do a fucking space jam. What i love about that. Is that like if you go. Online looking on. Twitter and shit and people are like that book. Movie sucks dude. You're fifty years old because movies not meant for you. That's not the point that i have just never. I've never been a big warner brothers person. As far as the animation goes outside of like saturday morning cartoons and stuff like that but when the original space jam came out it looks like shit to me. And i'm just and i but i had to tell myself this isn't movie. This isn't moved from me. Michael jordan fans get that and we all know the tour to force performance. He didn't but yeah. I just it's just wasn't for me so i'm kind of just being a smart asset purpose but i i know i had no desire to talk.

Why what else it makes it cringing. Is that it doesn't really fit. They stopped the story to have a flimsy excuse to throw that in there then they knew that there would be they had they counted. How many black people they had in here. They probably got to lebron james. Don t like you know what we got too many platforms. Come to this movie. I push them hip hop up in here. You gotta get urban. Yes it was a. I'm telling you this. This shit came out of nowhere i does. They are but foghorn leghorn fuck lolo book bugs so bester to hear what you daffy duck you can kiss my ass. Porky pig all horrible in that part of it is all because some executive came in and forced them to do this shit because somebody's said the word notorious. Oh we all gotta go at that. And what's it was devised and they were in love with it. They were they would determine to crowbar shit in this movie because he did not have a place but they had a good groove going. They had set up the rules. Everything was planned by the they had the momentum yet and they went like stop the beep and they did. Throw this in here and the miz over. It goes back to where it was. It's people you you think. Don't let this scene for you thinking. That's how the rest of the movie. Is this bullshit right here. This was so forced in ages. So they just shove this up movies as it did not need to be here if it nothing. Nothing moustakas is. They stopped appropriate and black people at the show. They close hit. Never referenced it again but don cheadle doing making me do this and maybe they could have worked in it and they say oh. This is going to be the halftime show. But it wasn't god that would have been good right right a break but no they're right in the middle of the game and just went like oh rule change. We can do this now. God damn you manuever. that dude. Is that did this. Because i can guarantee you when this was thought up there was not a black person in the room and if it was it was one and he looked around. And i say she. Yeah i i got kids. I can't get fired on. What if we had a rap notorious. That's brilliant yes. Yes wait what. I didn't really mean your your people would like this right larry. Yeah yeah balls. Whatever i got a job fuck it. Yeah haven't hip hop all day. Fuck that part was horrible. It was that part. If i had to just stop take one part this movie to rate. That's off you right there. Ever would i hate it. I was this start almost cried. I said why are doing this shit. The whole thing like they were looking at porn. They just stopped looking at each other. They're put everybody put. They had looking beach. It was horrible. The the one good thing i can say about it is that it's short in his short and so if you're anything short enough to not even be in there is short to ask. Why is it there in the first place other than that. First of all this is outdated. This ain't even hip hop today. God day if you made us like an eight minute eight mile joke. I almost seemed like they were going to do that yet. Then they don't really lead you. Let's see here if we actually think about it so rick. And morty was there so that means that one of brothers owns adult swim which owns cartoon network and if they own all that that means they own robot chicken to a robot. You had a way better right there so you might want to check out. The racist council wasn't me. That was a long time ago. I was a different patient. Oh man but a man. I like some of the things here to about the first of all. Don cheadle is really good in this. You know. it's funny because when he first came on. I thought i'd probably got zanier actor for this. But the longer he played it the more i became like i. I just light up every time. He's on screen yet. He was don cheadle is greatness. All right i know this crazy to say because i know you what want to hear a bunch of negative shit about this. I'm sorry i wish i could. But i can't lie to you right even at even at the risk of losing respect for me. I can't lie to you a lot of good things in his movie. And don cheadle was great. He's having so much fun. A Review of the Newest Addition to the MCU: Black Widow
"I mean, the Marvel universe. Fans have been waiting for this for months and months and months, and now it's available. In theaters, and it's also on Disney plus so that you can see it there as well. It's going to be the apparently the only black widow films since Scarlett Johansson's character actually died in adventures and came this story has said a little before that. And she goes back to Eastern Europe in order to track down and ruined the great Russian spymaster who made her into a spy in the first place. And she also reunites with her fake family with which you were who she was an undercover spy in the United States in the 19 nineties in order to bring this fellow down, so it's a combination of family drama. Shall we say? With a big action, splashy action movie. I found the intimate moments in this film actually better than the action ones, which are in the typical modern way over cuts so that you can't really tell what's going on a lot of time and just overloaded with C G I the real star of the film, Although Johansson is very good is Florence Pugh. Who plays her younger, so called sister. They were sisters when they were undercover spies, and they unite along with their father and mother in order to bring down this terrible Russian mastermind who still wants to dominate the world with his army of brainwashed young women called widows. Uh, the people who Fans of the far Marvel universe are going to love this film. They're going to go out to it in droves. They're going to pay for it and dizzy. Plus, it's going to be a huge success. But it's really a kind of footnote to the series as a whole. It doesn't advance the overall marble saga very much. And as I say, it's probably a one off for Scarlett Johansson's Who cares whose character unless she miraculously comes to life will have to remain dead after this episode. Alright, that's black Widow Next up, Don Cheadle and

No sudden move. That came to hbo. Max last week. Don cheadle the neo del toro and a bunch of other great actors in that one also summer of soul from first time. Director quests love came to theaters into hulu that concert doc about a nineteen sixty nine harlem concert series that featured performances by nina simone stevie wonder sly and the family stone and many more all of those having never been seen since nineteen sixty nine our review of that one could just be a ranking of our top five favorite moments. We might. We might even do that. Josh that would probably get us through the first half hour of the movie. I think we can pick five from that. Yeah you also caught up with zola which stars riley keough a wild road trip tale inspired at least in part by an infamous twitter thread. I can't wait for you to unpack that and more later in the show. But i the is finally back on a big screen near you after a handful of disney plus streaming series phase for kicks off with the scarlett johansson starring feature black widow. Fine an enter. "Because i think like a movie after this basically he had it on his wrist where he could lynn switch into the suit by turning his wrist on. I think by game. It was literally like a ring on his finger. Which is like. I'm like seriously chess. I mean seriously Also to on that that formula one seen this like a ton of things in this movie first of all donating all the modern art to the boy scouts of america. that one didn't age well Ya'll there's a lot going on there. And then e lan. Musk pop in and surprise me rewatching the last night. I didn't realize that he was the thing back. In two thousand ten the for tesla it was before he before he moved to austin and ruined my city and started. You know you know doing all the other things that he's doing so you're blaming your blaming you on mosque and a bunch of comedians moving to your city. The problem with they're not sending their best austin look mark. Let's just be honest for a second. Okay it helps property value i will. I will live in that truth rather than understanding that when i go home. I'm going to be very much like what happened. I'm scared i get. I get reports on scared. Tim ryan you own multiple houses in austin. Yeah exactly. I have one over travis. sorry lake austin travis and you know our vacate hate vacation home in marble falls We're gonna talk a little bit about it. It's sort of behind the scenes but it's a nice little thing to sort of like translates into don cheadle Coming in and taking over for terrence howard. Which i think it all worked out. Don cheadle is amazing. Yeah he wanted to give tony. Tony yeah mark. Sorry i if you're just going off don cheadle being in this movies and now in these series of films. It's always great to have an actor of that caliber in movies like this because it adds legitimacy to it and his relationship that he's forged you can see how much him and tony still care about each other. Beer also see that they're on different ends of the spectrum with a lot of the events in this movie but that makes it even cooler when war machine and iron man at the end of the film have to team up to win the day and so they have that fight between each other. It's a little like a pre civil war toys birthday party when he's hammered and then to watch them team up that's one of those cool chill inducing moments that you get that. I think we're lacking for most of this movie. But that scene is definitely one of them. It's probably why that was the scene in the trailer that really helped sell. This movie is again towards the end. Being attacked by drones. Here comes iron man and war machine back to back like a buddy cop movie. Yeah no absolutely and you needed that and having them argued through the first part of the film is really interesting and i also thought it was interesting too that they kept rhody where he actually was because rhody is a is a is an officer in the military. You follow orders like the idea that he would break bad with tony as a little disingenuous for a whole bunch of reasons. One of the reasons. Why i think sam is sam is. He's retired at the beginning of his time. With with steve. Rogers like to be an active duty military person into just sorta say like. I'm not following orders. And how many times does how many times does a rhody say that. I'm just here on orders. I'm just here on orders like he just wanted to know he's like i can't. I can't do anything about it. Detroit gangsters drawn into a citywide conspiracy. It's the latest movie directed by steven soderbergh and it begins streaming this week on hbo. Max here's justin. Eight years ago steven soderbergh announced his retirement from feature filmmaking happily for us. It turned out to be short-lived since twenty. Seventeen he's been on a tear cranking out one or two new movies a year. Among them the brilliant nascar heist thriller logan lucky. The sharp sports agency drama high flying bird and the laundromat in irreverent. Look at financial fraud in the twenty first century what connects these movies is how a tuned. They are to matters of class and money in a way that still pretty rare in hollywood his engrossing new movie. No sudden move continues. This trend it's an ensemble. Crime thriller set in nineteen fifty. Four detroit a gorgeous designed world of fidora's and trenchcoats smokey wood-paneled offices and vintage automobiles like the classic fifties. Noirs that inspired it. Ed solomon's densely plotted script is full of double crosses and dirty dealings at the center of the story are two crooks don cheadle plays kirk goin- 's and benicio del toro plays ronald rousseau. They're low level gangsters who've been hired by mr jones a nicely menacing. Turn by brendon frazier in this scene. In which the three of them meet for the first time. Ronald is paranoid about sitting in the front seat of a car. Clearly worried that. Kurt might try to attack him from behind. Mr was sitting in front. I'd like to sit in the back. This is ridiculous. We're wasting time. Guess kirk meet ronald ronald kurt. They're hired as part of a plan to coerce. A guy named mark into stealing top secret document from the company where he works curtain. Ronald's job is to babysit mark's wife and kids at their home while the theft is taking place but as you might expect from a tenth situation with masked men loaded guns and a terrified family. The scheme quickly goes awry amid the fallout curtain. Ronald realize they've been drawn into a major corporate conspiracy when the document eventually falls into their possession. They realized they could profit handsomely if they play their cards right and if they stay alive which is a big if as they sue learn. There's a price on their heads. Over the next few days they run afoul of any number of nasty characters including a local kingpin played by bill duke and a surly gangster played by an amusingly typecast. Ray liotta jon. Hamm turns up as a nosy police detective and looks right at home in the decade before madman through it. All cheadle del toro who have both worked with soderbergh before maintain a nicely. Combative repore playing two very different men who have grown weary of their lives of crime while ronald plans to retire. Kurt has nobler intentions. He wants to pour some of the spoils back into the black communities in detroit that have suffered heavily under racist housing policies and zoning laws those are just a few of the many social issues the movie touches on including the tensions between the city's black and italian populations and the disastrous environmental consequences of an unchecked automobile industry. These matters aren't always woven as smoothly into the story as they could have been but they give no sudden move a potent edge nonetheless. You're pulled in by the suave camera. Camerawork and hannah beakers rich mid-century production design but you're also made aware of the inequities churning beneath the surface. That social conscience is nothing new for soderbergh. Who's made some of his best movies about working class drivers from erin brockovich to magic mike here. He's less focused on individuals than an entire corrupt system. Showing us how the men in the executive suites are as crooked as the ones shooting each other in the streets but while no sudden move does feature a lot of awful male misbehavior. Soderbergh has always been just as interested in his female characters and he doesn't neglect the crucial roles. Played by the women in this fifties. Gang-land setting amy assignments a key force on the soderbergh produced series. The girlfriend experience gives one of the movies best performances as mark's wife. Mary unlike her feckless fool of a husband. She handles a scary situation with unflappable. Smarts and courage there are other terrific actors to like lauren. The strada julia fox. And frankie shaw they may be playing housewives or mistresses or secretaries but they all have an inner strength or defined streak a refusal to let the kaddish and controlling men in their lives. Call the shots. I'd gladly follow. Any of them into movies of their own. Especially of soderbergh is around to direct them. I didn't I don't know if your check check check here. I can I can hear everything. All right. Got you. How are you, buddy? Everything good. Oh, after that introduction, I'm fantastic. Fantastic. You know, I, uh, I saw this movie the other night. And it was. It's a story about it. It was a convicted rapist, and he gets out of prison on a technicality. Jennifer Garner is as bad ass. Mm, a gun fighting just just a bad Essen. She brings a truckload of revenge drama. I think the name of the movie was Pepperman Jello. Can you confirm or deny that I can confirm. None of that. I watched peppermint a couple weeks ago. You saw it was. It was one of the single worst movies I think I've ever seen. Peppermint Jell O. It's a Bill Cosby joke. Oh, Bill Cosby is a rapist. Uh and then he got out of jail went right over right and then Jennifer Garner, You lost the Jennifer Garner. Jennifer Garner. Remember talking about that movie? You're trying to describe me as Jennifer Garner an action movie maybe two years ago on to say this thing was I'm flipping around the other night and like All right. I got to kill some time. I'm not tired. I'm getting ready for bed. So why not want to watch an action movie? And it was most I generally you know, you could do you have the willful suspension of disbelief. You couldn't do it in this movie. It was terrible buying. Jennifer Gardner is an action hero. It was in the The script was bad. She was She was actually good in it. She became famous on Alias, Uh, show where she was, and I don't use a spy action hero. I get that. But I'm saying is that she's in his role where she's like, I don't know she's she's basically a you know, a mom and works part time in a bank at a crappy job and all of a sudden Her family gets shot by drug dealers and and and then I'll she just overnight becomes Arnold Schwarzenegger. I don't or, you know, kill Bill or something like this. Like, Well, wait a minute. You were You're like this mousey. You know, Mom of two of a kid, and you know your love with your moms can't be action heroes. No, they can't. Well, not with any background. She wasn't like. Oh, my God. Okay. Steven Seagal. They like he was a cook, right? But then they learn. Oh, my God. He was. He's a Navy seal. Okay, There's some backstory there. She just all of a sudden overnight goes from a bank clerk to being a ninja, which is what you will do to protect your kids know it's ridiculous. You will learn and you will learn to be a ninja. You will unlock new, just secret ninja skills. Anyway. Revenge. Kids are harmed, right? Revenge drama. Some are good. Some are bad. This one not so much. Well, thank you for bringing up a three year old movie. I just saw it the other night. I remember you talking about which I love Jennifer Gardner three years ago. Probably I'm trying to kill time here because I know the movies you've got are train wrecks. Um, you watch that I can just tell I can. All right. Well, let's start with this one. How about the Tomorrow war? How about the Chris Pratt one? What's that Fantastic. Terrible, terrible movie. Nope. Loved it. That is great. What is it? This is on Amazon Prime video. It is a Chris Pratt plays a scientist who's not exactly satisfied with how his life has gone, thinks he should have done bigger and better things. And then all of a sudden people come back. Soldiers come back or come from the future from 30 years in the future. And say, Hey, we're fighting a war 30 years in the future, and it's not going well. There's all these aliens. They're killing all of us. We need you to come to the future and help us So they're recruiting everybody in the world that they can To come fight this war or it's the end of humanity as we know it. I know this we've been. We're talking about this in newsroom this morning. Jason Nathan son, Steven Soderbergh, who is Britney Brilliant director. I would say no sudden moves that everyone is in this movie. Don Cheadle is in it. It's just the The list of celebrities in this thing is amazing. Like I say, everyone is in this movie. Everyone Don Don Cheadle isn't let's be pushed Everyone every everyone's in this movie. Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Ray Liotta, Jon Hamm, Kieran Culkin, Brendan Fraser. Um and Brendan Fraser. He put on like the animals deliberately. Or is he Vince Vaunting it? I'm not sure, but on a lot of weight, didn't it? He put on a lot of ways a lot of ways it for the movie I don't want to get into like I wouldn't want to talk about that with a woman. It's not fair to talk about with a guy, but what do you mean? I don't know. It's just I don't want to talk about other people's appearances. It's on Brendan. It doesn't seem right. Okay, well is Is he a fat slob for the role or is it just like he's like, You know the hell with it? I'm gonna He's like the rest of us. I like guys like that. Because it looks like the normal dude. Honestly, I have no idea why Okay, The role itself doesn't call for that necessary, I say all right. So because you know some roles like Travolta or whoever they put way down, taking it off. They do that. I don't know if I don't think I don't think this is that. Okay? Gotcha. Yeah, Um and so, like you said it's directed by Steven Soderbergh. This is a heist movie in the tradition of, you know, heist movies He's done before. It just never really came together for me, though. I liked it, and I like the cast. Um and I do like the direction it just I don't know the story it it didn't do a whole lot for me. I didn't dislike the film. It just didn't grab me greater looked really good too. Yes, it does. And I think a lot of people were excited for this and it's OK, okay. That's almost always the problem with those movies where you've got, you know a lot of big name during the movie, and it's almost too much. I wanted it to be a little bit. Yeah, Yeah, okay, That's fair, but it's about it's about cars. Which in crime and crime, Okay, Dad watching in Detroit and Steven Soderbergh stuff. So I like Yeah, and 50, and it's a period thing. So you got me right period there?.

"There's a new steven soderbergh movie coming out. Oh really just assumed. There's one every month now. Accurate that is fair but i reference of course there in the question out of sight still my favorite steven soderbergh movie. And there's a reason for it. Soderbergh himself said when asked about making this movie. No sudden move which is a heist movie. The last time. I shot a movie in detroit with a great script and a great cast. Things worked out. Pretty well yeah. He made a masterpiece. This one though. Unlike out of sight is a period piece it said back in nineteen fifty five and is about a group of small time criminals who are hired to steal the documents. Seems like it's simple josh. I don't know if you've heard this before it's a heist that seems like it'll be simple And then something goes off if you want to make a move proposition for you. It's never your fault. is it offensive. Do you think i was skiing. I'm sure there's going to be some interesting socio political elements to the movie being set in detroit in the mid fifty s. A time where you know. Some of the big auto plants are starting to close. You've got this growing class and racial divide. So it's gonna be a grittier piece. It is going to be more akin to something like out of sight. Or even maybe kind of the limy versus the breezy flash of something like ocean's eleven but the cast just like with ocean's eleven is also a big big reason to see this movie and i guess clooney jack fully himself danny ocean himself was originally set to star and had to back out due to the pandemic but listen to this cast even without clooney. They base their assessment. On what you're telling them what they know of you. But you're in your body twenty four hours a day seven days a week. Yeah yeah yeah. I've got a friend who was telling me the story of when she got married. She had some big concerns about the getting married about felt too young. She wasn't sure if she wanted kids her her soon to be husband. Did she have all these reservations about our sure. Love this person. But i really have some reservations about how this is going to look going forward. And she was seeking help in our. She sought help from her parents. Have owners would just be like. Oh just get over it. It'll be fine. And then they did the premarital counseling of the church. And she's like. I'd really like to talk about some of these deep issues and same thing. The ministers like all just trust god. If you've gotten this far you'll be. And and she said it was really disheartening. Because she didn't know where to go and she was just seeking for somebody else to validate the fact that she had a lot concerns. How are we going to navigate. Not wanting kids and wanting kids. How are we going to navigate these things and nobody could validate that. Nobody could answer her questions. They all just kind of lost over. Oh it'll work itself out a one day you will want kids. Oh don't worry about it now. In they ended up getting divorced over the fact that you can't have kids and not have kids at the same time and that's a pretty material thing and that's pretty substantive that couldn't have been negotiated and if they could have talked about it in advance. It would have saved a lot of heartbreak. Oh yeah well. Money is bigger than money. Like you said kids your occupation you know cause some occupation you can spend more time with the brennan the not so and in the law capacious. I actually just talked to an officer. And tommy me about the mental stresses. That's another thing too. I mean that may be present when you new room. But they're not present. You know you know. Say the light tom. But nobody's home. And i don't mean that in an the meaning way it there physically but their minds not there. It's room with their off exploring asteroid. You know totally totally but anyway. Yeah so you would.

She wasn't happy, and some of the some of the bloom rubbed off a little bit. And I think again, I think we ended just a clip early. I think there was there was a lot of life, but there's no point if one isn't happy. Yeah, and then be got very bitter, and they eventually spun off into a one season show called the Golden Palace, which move networks. NBC didn't want it, or I believe CBS outbid it. I think actually, NBC turned it down. But it was like 92 93. Whenever the golden girls ended, it was called the Golden Palace and Bea Arthur did not join that show. So was the rest of them. Plus, Cheech Marin was in that show. And don cheetah will remember Daci. It'll Don Cheadle and Cheech Marin on day in the women bought a hotel. The Frame
Katzenberg, Jeffrey Free And Ten Minute discussed on The Frame
"You wanna watch a movie would you rather watch it at home or in a movie theater how about another option watching that film on your smartphone but not all that one's rather in one ten minutes snippet a day that's jeffrey free katzenberg thinking behind his short form mobile video platform currently in the works it's called quimby in the name of short quick bites there's still a lot of questions about how it all work before its launch next year but so far quimby has been able raised more than a billion dollars in drawing some top creative talent laying low way senior tv writer at variety has been looking into what ob excitement is about quitting doesn't launch for almost another year actually it'll come out in april twenty twenty twenty but i think the reason why everybody is so hyped up about it is because you've got to story leaders one from tech meg whitman former e b and hewlett packard ceo and this giant of industry jeffrey katzenberg who was at one time the head of dreamworks and walt disney studios and he's really the reason why people are so excited about it right people are excited about it because he's excited about it people believe in because he believed in it he's been selling the service as eight mobile platform that allows these quick bites which is what could be a short for short form content that'll have premium serialized scripted content unscripted content news news and sports and it'll be released in these five to ten minute chunks daily andy idea is that when you're waiting for coffee or you have a dull moment in your day those times when you're whipping out your phone and you're looking at twitter or facebook or something else and you're just putting around phone instead of doing that you'll go quickly and you'll watch five minutes of a sand rainy horror anthology or ten minutes of an anna kendrick buddy comedy instead so he has raised i think more then a billion dollars to fund this and right now it seems like he has attracted some really interesting talent to make content frequency i was in a van a couple of weeks ago where i ran into antwon fuqua who were a lot of people know from the training day movie he's also made the equalizer with denzel washington and he was producing a movie frequency and he was telling me that it was very attractive even though i think this movie was gonna be caught up into ten minute chunks what is jeffries pitch been to the creative community would be paid responding to well a big part of the appeal for creators is he intellectual property because the way it's format it would be will exclusively license their projects for seven years but after the first two years be rights revert back to beans creators and filmmaker so they'll be able to go and repackage this series they'll be able to hopefully seamlessly thread together all of these five to ten minute chunks of these stories and repackage package them as a feature film as a two and a half hour project but they could then go sell to another service so that's really attractive thing and also again there's just see appeal of katzenberg himself because he has been so successful in this industry i mean an wants so i told me that sitting down with jeffrey katzenberg is like sitting down with the godfather yeah although if you look at some of the movies he made at the walt disney company and some of his animated movies there are some questions about jeffrey storytelling taste will save that conversation for something what is the financial model because a lot of people right now are thinking about disconnecting subscriptions that they might have to their cable or satellite company or who were netflix so how are they trying to position it financially and what do they expect you people so they'll be selling two versions of quip me they'll be ad supported version for five dollars a month and any ad free version for seven dollars a month and it sounds like a small amounts but you also consider that people are i don't know if they're near saturation but there are certainly so many different streaming platforms out there you've got netflix and amazon and who and all of these different subscription services that people are already paying for so that even when you cut the cord you've got sometimes a hefty bill at the end of the month when you combine all these so that'll be a real test will be deceived they can break through that barrier and get people to fork over five to seven bucks a month for this of of course they're bringing some real alias talent and that's where their strength wli again you've got a project from kia motors del toro don cheadle liam hemsworth a you know tyra banks chrissy teagan and you know i think the other question here is also whether there will be on de creator side resale value for them after they were allowed to take their project off of quickly or after they're allowed to repackage their project from could be and sell it to a different platform so if there are detractors in town or at least doubters what would you say is a consistent question that they have about quickly what is gonna be the obstacles to its success there are a couple of different questions that came up in are reporting one of them is do people want this model people were still used to benching on tv these days when you're going to netflix their whole thing is the bench model and it's this also isn't appointment tv it's sort sort of a a daily thing that comes on five ten minutes a day but what if i want to watch the whole movie so in that case do i just wait for a month for all of these daily releases it come on the service and then say binge watch them all anyway on a saturday afternoon a so that's definitely a very unique model that hasn't really been done before another question that people have is people are so used to getting something for nothing specially from a mobile device store people going to be willing to fork over five and seven bucks a month for quickey a get another question is will the viewership justify the cost there are some really high numbers that were being thrown around a believe entrances what's project is gonna cost about fifteen million dollars which is certainly more than you could say for a lot of other short for mobile video out there andy clippings model is subscriptions an ad revenue and that's how they're planning on monetize ing they're stored as a but it'll be interesting to see whether these dubs an ad revenue justify be amount that they're investing

Tom Holland, Peter Parker And One Hundred Percent discussed on Guy Gordon
"The newest spider man is is out spider man far from home and Tom Holland who plays Peter Parker slash spider man arm was asked about his I guess future within the the spider man spectrum and somebody asked him he would be okay with spider man slash Peter Parker being gay and he said yes of course I can't talk about the future of the character because honestly I don't know it's out of my hands but I do know a lot about the future of Marvel and they're going to be representing lots of different people in the next few years and in case you don't know the background of this the people that basically run the Marvel studios Marvel studios boss Kevin feed I believe that's how you pronounce it I'm not one hundred percent sure has been promising that L. G. B. T. cute characters are coming to the Marvel cinematic universe captain Marvel I think is really making that push yeah isn't that the big rumor that that that that's what it's going to be and now now there's the spider man rumor whatever what what was interesting to me is is what Tom Holland the actor who played spider man I added to all of this quote the world isn't as simple as a straight white guy it doesn't end there and these films need to represent more than one type of person okay fair enough but I guess Mike is somebody who seen everyone of these movies and most of these movies multiple times considering I have a nineteen year old son and a fourteen year old daughter aren't the right one all of non white straight guys in the movies now are are they are they suggesting there needs to be a more prominent role per se is is that what I'm I mean yeah that's what it sounds like they're saying I mean off the top of my head like I said the only big L. G. B. T. Q. representation I think right now is captain Marvel don Cheadle I forgot who he plays in the Avengers I'm so there's a few but there were not many war machine war machine you know what I did it's funny you say that because he you and I did not talk about this during the break I wrote down all the characters that I know in the M. C. U. that do not fall under the straight white white guy umbrella the agent one Chaudhry what Hopin Val creek good moral Black Panther captain Marvel Black Widow war machine a Korea Maximoff pepperpot Stoessel ones are just came off the top of my head and soul again I was I think I was coming out love that fourteen yeah and you know what this isn't the first time they that they've toyed with the idea of doing this with spider man I remember that there was a big push to get don Glover to play spider man a few years back yeah and it

Andrew Rannells talks 'Black Monday'
"Thrilled today because Andrew rannells. My guest is not only in black Monday on Showtime, you so I've been book a Mormon girls we were just talking about Falsettoes your hero of mine and come on. Oh, I'm real ten. I'm so happy to be here. Thank you for having me. So look it will never get better than this. I think there's nothing left. This is my finally this is it. I'm retiring after this. Let's start with what's the newest black Monday on Showtime. So it's just you again, even though it set, I'm sure before you, even drew breath. Now now, it's I mean, I was I was a kid at the time. Seventy seven was not really aware of the stock market crash of nineteen seven when I was that age. So so it was very interesting to sort of learn about all of that. And what repercussions that had? But this story is it's Don Cheadle and Regina hall. And I. And we are the sort of ragtag group of traders who work for. A lower financial firm on Wall Street, and they're really trying to make a name for themselves. And it sounds so professional as you describe it. Well, I mean, you said ragtag ragtag these people are basically insane. They're pretty nuts. Yeah. They really they don't know. They don't know abound. Are I think that the this time in this world and particular in the financial world of the eighties in New York? There was a lot of excess and a lot of celebration of excess. And I think we really leaned into that quite a bit with this show. It's very strange because your character Blair is excuse the expression the straightest. Yeah. Of the characters on this show, which is really fun to get to do. I mean, I really haven't gotten to do that since the book of Mormon really that was the last time I sort of got to play that up tight guy, and it's fun. I enjoy doing that. I enjoy I mean don's characters is larger than life. And it's really does some crazy crazy things. And was it's. I really enjoy getting to be the straight guy who has to be there to witness all of this insanity. I get to do some crazy stuff later. But we do a good job of sort of topping ourselves with every episode to see how how far we can get because the other things so we're leading up to the stock market crash. But it really is about this group of people and how they're sort of individual petty, greedy actions have these larger this larger effect on the the world of finance, and it's, but it's about this human interaction that gets very messy between these people. Well, you sort of discovering things about yourself your character, aren't you especially cocaine there's like cocaine it had a major affect on him. Yeah. He really takes too easily. Ooh. You know? We've come a we've all been there. You know? It's funny. I got to sort of be the I mean, Don by far would be the expert because of his role in boogie nights. I think he really obviously did a lot of cocaine, but I have done a lot of fake cocaine because we did it. I did it often on girls so girls head to what is the fake. It's vitamin B powder. Offset so hard to believe it sounds so healthy. I know, but if we did as much as we actually do I wouldn't be here. I'd be dead. I would have had a heart attack. But I thought actors did everything for their art. No, I come on. You've worked with so many people even Robert deniro I did work with Robert in. And I sure that had he been playing this part winning. Yes, I'm probably he would have doubled down. He would if I let you down Mr. barrow, Bob Bosley. You wanted to be called Bob I called him. Mr. Niro, I think a wise personal choice. Right. I I didn't really know how to behave with him. And we worked together we didn't have a ton of scenes together, but we were often onset together. And I just never knew how to behave because Nancy Meyers the director told me she was like he doesn't like to talk about his career. So don't start asking him questions about like raging bull. Don't that's not cool. So then you'd find yourself like next to Robert deniro trying to make small talk. And I just out of like panic would start cursing a lot of hot other four. She will scorcher. What is that air conditioning? I turn into like a lunatic. And he I that was the only way I could. And I'm sure that just in dear. I'm sure well, what's that Cupido looking guy to cursing his face based off? Yeah, I'm sure he'd loved it before you had done black Monday. Yeah. Darned, Cheeto, Regina hall. Did. You know, these people. No, I met Don when became see the book of Mormon, but was just a huge Mirer of his but never worked with them in Regina the same. Like, we I've been a fan of hers for a very long time. But we never crossed paths before. So you know, pilots are weird because you you get dropped into this group of people that you have to you have to bond and create this thing with very quickly. And then see what happens in your sort of still figuring out like who are these characters. What is the story? And what are we doing? And in a way that you don't even really experience in theatre. Although sometimes you get those jobs that are just a couple of weeks long, or whatever, and you sort of have to you come together very quickly, but the stakes are a little lower. When you're doing a television show like this, you really have to just double down and hope that you're making the right choices. But luckily, the three of us and Paul Shearer and Horatio Sanz and. You know, great supporting cast that that really just jumped in altogether.
