"WGN radio I'd rather change that chattahoochee that's right for Stacey Allen Jackson in 1992 and Aristotle. Alan drew up in Florida, maybe he did, but to those of us who were children, they are chattahoochee was where your parents threatened to take it. It was the state mental institution. Now, of course, I was splitting my time, I was half the time and Florida and half the time in Los Angeles. And in Los Angeles Camarillo, parents were always going to drop you off a Camarillo if you didn't behave, but it definitely chattahoochee, which was the state mental institution in Florida. I was up on the Georgia line there. But it was funny. I guess parents all over did that because I had a very good friend in Indiana. He's oh yeah, my mother's kept threatening to take me to Moscow to talk. Yeah, that's it. So probably no matter where you're from, you got that. But yeah, I can't hear Cheddar hoochie without thinking I'm going to be dragged to the state mental institution or probably longer. All right, so John in Covington is going to explain explain. Now, come on, here, you're married 40 years. You're having the 40th anniversary party. You've rented out a room and your wife's not going? Well, here's the thing. We get what she wants and I'll tell you this. I didn't make a big stink out of it because it was where she was. She took her rosary to the hospital chapel And she spent her time there. Now my sister in law, her sister tried to tell her, look, my sister in law is a retired pediatric nurse. And she's just been retired a couple of years and she just told my wife she said, look, if this was 20 years ago, you would be a great deal to worry about. But they've come so far. He's going to be fine. Go to the party. Well, nothing to want. She wouldn't have it. She had to be in the chapel. I let her have her way. I was a very accommodating. Okay. So what we're saying here is she was so overcome because of the physical state of her new premature grandson that she just couldn't allow herself to have a good time. She needed to be close to God in the chapel. That's right. And so I just I just go on with it because you know what? There's a whole lot of worse place you see. Well, that absolutely. And it's too bad it didn't dawn under the God was at the party too. Thank you for letting me bend your ear. Oh man, man, I tell you what. She's lucky she's married to you because a lot of people would not have been accommodating about that whatsoever. Yeah, you're right. You're right. I want to agree with you a lot of the ladies are like, oh, boy, I wish my husband was more like you. Well, they're not. Wow. Wow. So I guess now things are looking up for oh yeah, we only got up to go from here. We never did fight about it. I just gave into her, I always do. So what's your grandson's name? Isaac. Okay. I usually can his mother's name, his mother's first name is Taylor, so they named it Isaac Taylor. Very nice. All right. Yeah, I like it. Yeah, absolutely. All right, well hopefully I will be home soon. Yes, two weeks. All right, good deal. Thanks. Appreciate it. Yeah, and it has a medical science, which usually is an oxymoron. But has come a long way with neonatal, especially when you're in the right place. And, you know, one of the big fears before is over oxygenate and you wind up with blindness and things of that nature. But I don't think you hear about that very often anymore. I think they have really gotten it down to the signs that should be. So 888-876-5593 is 88 88 Raleigh. And that will take us to Joe in Indiana. Speaking of scatter talk, Joe, welcome to WGN radio. At a very good evening to you young lady. Hi, Raleigh. I was listening to you talking about people at thank you for themselves as losers and people who think of themselves as winners. Well, I heard a couple of years ago a story about a test or an exam that the psychologists for giving too little boys. One was a pessimist from almost largest. They took the little pessimist boy and put them in a room full of toys, closed the door. They took the little optimist Boyd put him in a room full of horse manure. And they closed the door. Oh, I know where this is going. You're really okay. Here's the bottom line. The kid with a manure was so happy because he wanted to know where's the pony? You're exactly right, young lady. Have you been there? No, but it just had to be. As soon as you said that, I said, well, if he's an optimist, where's the pony? We've got it. That's right, young lady. So how about this one? Imagine yourself in a maternity ward. Oh God, okay? I don't know if you've been there or not. No, no, not blessed with that. But I'm a little cribs lined up. There's a little boy baby and a little girl, baby. The little boy turns to the little girl he says, hi, how are you? She says, hello. He says, I'm a little boy. What are you? And she says, I don't know. And he says, you don't know what you are?

"Thing, too, is that our natural parks are home and habitat to more than 400 endangered or threatened plants as well as animal species. And when you're visiting the National Party's going to keep an eye out, because you may see some of that wildlife and you're seeing them in their natural habitat, and some of that really wildlife, you might want to try to stay clear and remember, it's the Bear's house, not yours. Yeah, I do not want to run into a bear in the National park. I mean, I want to see it like way way, way way away. I want to see one but not concept. All these people that want to take selfies with bears and alligators. I don't understand. I just really don't let it too close for comfort. Yeah, a little bit. Now, young, so next to the park is whether it is very, very popular and it is a super volcano and I didn't know people know that it is also responsible for three of the world's six biggest volcano. Eruption. Really? So yes, Yes, Yes. So I didn't know that either try to get a little research. I was like, really? Because you just don't hear that part. You just hear how beautiful it is to go to go to Yellowstone National Park And, um the Grand Canyon, of course, is one of our national parks. And it is because of the Grand Canyon. So exactly one of the seven natural wonders of the world. So that is one. I think that's on a lot of people's list to go and see that one. I've never seen it. My wife has been there, but I have not. I'm looking forward to it. Yeah, And you know, it's one of those words to do you really want to prepare because it is so popular, So you want to make sure that you can get in at the time that you want to while you're there, but you know another great one that, um it's name gives it away is Arches National Park, which is, um, filled with a lot of stone arches. And it is the largest concentration of stone arches in the rural. That's pretty pretty cool to match naturally formed arches. Naturally formed one. Yeah. So very fantastic to go and see those because again, you're seeing things that are in nature that are just kind of unique and very special to us here in the United States. Yeah, I'm not familiar with that parks off to actually take some look at that and put it on the list. Yeah, Beautiful, Beautiful. Now. Another one to that, you know, his name gives it away is Everglades National Park and 25% of Florida's original. It's called really subtropical wetlands, but we call it the ever grades is protected as part of that that part so that's a fun one to to go and check out and it's not too far away. Either have been to the Everglades. I will just tell you this if you if you go to visit, make sure If you want to get in the Everglades, you take go with a guide. Because every every tree looks the same. You'll never get back out. I know it's amazing to think that you can get lost in the immigration, but you're right about that. You definitely want to go with a guy. Now, let's uh week before when I talked with you guys. I was in Colorado and I have a chance to go to the Rocky Mountain National Park. And there is the trail road there that is, uh Highest, continuously paved road in the United States. And when I say breathtaking views and vistas, you definitely want to do the whole route and go all the way up to the top. There a couple of areas where you are, you know kind of holding on to the to the door handle now, making sure that us staying in place, but it's beautiful and it's definitely worth the full drive. That's the one of the ones where you want to let somebody else drive up and then you can drive down and whoever's driving doesn't look at anything but the road. Then you can look at the scenery. Otherwise you might drive off the thing. Yeah, Yeah. You definitely want to take those stops. There are lots of little pull off points where you can stop and take polos are just, you know, take you into seeing and take care of those missiles and years, but Cause you don't want to miss it. And I would say also, too, if you're a little nervous was driving to those kinds of situations like you said. Maybe go with someone who's from the area tour guide to someone who can take you up there because it can be a little little interesting, especially the winter to I want to drive it in the winter. A lot lot of great information on our national parks. But before we get out of here, we're running out of time here real quick, But Georgia. We've got some great things to see. And we talked about some stuff out west. We talked about the Everglades. But what about right here at home? Well, one of my service and I recently visited is Cumberland Island is one of the national seashores and it is home to the snowy white eat grid that actually made it on the back of, uh of the U. S. Senate state quarters a couple of years ago, and you often to see the wild horses there that freely roam the island. But, you know, talking about Georgia George is quite unique because we have 12 national sites. Here in Georgia, everything from historic site in Andersonville, the appellation National Scenic Trail, The Chattahoochee River is considered a national recreation area, so there's a lot to see him Jimmy Carter National Historic Park, Kenesaw Mountain, So there's a lot here that as right here in Georgia You don't have to go so far to participate in one of the National Park Service's site. That's right. You don't have to go very far to be able to enjoy great travels with the need. As a matter of fact. Just stay with us this weekend. She's back at it on Saturday one. Where are you taking us? Well, I do something really unique. I went to the Brunswick Islands a couple of years ago up in North Carolina, and I had a chance to go to what is called the kindred mailbox where people actually go there To go to that mailbox and write notes or write messages or letters are just to take in that post scene in the feeling this, I'm going to talk about that. And the man who started it very interesting, fascinating. Looking forward to it again. One o'clock this Saturday here. On Wdun. And of course, if you want to do a little traveling and go to one of our favorite places, Sapelo Island, the bird houses are still available, but I guess booking up pretty quickly. There. Yeah, we're booking up pretty quickly, but there are still some opening. So you know, Check it out. Give us a call, and we'll get your book in one of those. And is that a national park? But there's a state park is there but it's a treasure for sure It is a definite treasure. Anita. Thanks for being with us this morning. Thanks for taking to so many great places and looking forward to finding out more as we get into it this weekend. Sounds good. Thank you so much. You guys have a great day You two are at 6 52 at North Georgia's News Talk WD forecast looking good for the weekend. We'll get to that. And the drive after headlines. "Know, I had, um Three young ladies sitting behind me and a little boy looked like he was maybe nine or 10 and they were the only people that I noticed there for the defendants, and they They began crying, and then they wept as each guilty verdict was read, and that whole The whole part of that. I think when you hear guilty, guilty, guilty, I mean it was it was almost five minutes worth of rate of publishing as they call it, publishing the verdict. And I'm not saying I feel sorry for them by any means. I mean, they they were found guilty on every count 15 counts for Hector Garcia so lease 14 for Edgar Velasco s two for London. Clements. You may remember earlier in the week that some of his, um some of his charges were It was a directed verdict. In other words, they didn't have enough couldn't support the charges couldn't support the charges for some of the crimes, But to me that was glaring because you had Four people there for them. Where were their families? Why were their families? Not there? Were they embarrassed or they did They not have families and there? I don't know. I mean, I'm kind of weird. I kind of hyperactive like that. So that to me that but that was the only weeping I heard. I did not hear. I'm crying from The Dixon family. There might have been some tears shed. They were sitting to my right lots and lots of them. I think some brothers, um you know his parents, the jury, very somber. And there was one juror who wept as the as the verdicts were being read. So you know it was And afterward they had to wait until the jury cleared the room, of course. And then they let the um friends family of the defendants leave. And then everybody else just kind of stayed there. A lot of Embracing, hugging, um, thanking the defense, the prosecuting team and that kind of thing. So it was. It wasn't like any kind of mayhem. But it was just, you know, I mean, Right. It was It was an emotional scene. Almost definitely. I think on the on the part of the the ones therefore, the defendants they had to know that was coming, but to hear it and make it real. That's what it really sinks in. I would imagine. Yeah, well, and these girls were young too. I mean, the defendants are young and I think you know you heard Wanda Vance, the chief 80 a say she said yes, that we had that audio clip from the trial. Yes, they're young, and that's and it's heartbreaking. But you're not judging on the emotion or the heartbreak of the case you're judging. That's what she told the jury. You're judging on the facts of this case and the evidence presented and that by Cam footage was, um, just Hard right? And that's another thing that they did yesterday. I mean, the jury returned this verdict pretty fast. Considering the massive amounts of evidence they had to look at. You said 600, plus pieces of effort. Yes, about 600 pieces, and so they they requested that they come back yesterday morning 11 o'clock ish. I think maybe a little before that, too. To look at the video from Blaine Dixon's body Cam camera and also from Sergeant Charles Fuels body camera. They were basically looking for the angle of where Hector Garcia. So Lisa was standing when he fired the shots, and when they looked at that it was 30 minutes later when they said, we have a verdict. So I guess they were just I guess again. This is me guessing that they were looking for clarification on how those shots were fired. And when and from what angle? Well, they certainly wanted to get it, right? Yes, the hanging in the balance, and I do not envy those jurors. I've been on Juries before. And, um It can be tough on some of those cases, but this one especially just I could see where, like I say a lot of emotion and a lot on the line there, But, uh, it's been taken care of. We'll find out about the Senate sing as you mentioned a week from yesterday that you said tentative. Is there a reason might change just if something doesn't work out, But keep this in mind. Blaine Dixon was shot the night late the night of July 7th. He died minutes later on July 8th. And so if the sentencing takes place on July eight, it'll be two years to the date after his death. That's amazing. That's kind of poignant. It certainly is. It certainly is 24 minutes after eight you dear More news Now is the check headlines BJ delivers from the Access Wdun Hardy Chevrolet newsroom. This is a bizarre case out of metro Atlanta.
