I mean, everything has come together for this team right now. Even with a few of the injuries that they have, they've been able to put almost full 60 minutes of football together and they're getting teams at the right time and they're playing well at the right time because they're heading into December, so that's a positive. So speaking of injuries, what are the teams injury concerned heading into today, most importantly, chase young? Yeah, chase young. It looks like seeing reports this morning on New York that they're going to, he's going to warm up before the game, but very unlikely to be activated today. The good news with that is the defense has been playing so well, so they don't have to rush him back. He is on the roster he's activated. He officially can play at any time. But they've had the fortunate they've been fortunate enough that the defense is playing well, so they don't have to rush it back. So it doesn't look like you'll play today. And a lot has been made of that MetLife turf at the Meadowlands up there and players complaining about it. We've seen a lot of injuries this year already on that turf, so coming back from a major injury like he has, it may be the May not be the best thing to play him today. Dax Milton is still out Benjamin saint Jewish also out on the defensive side, so that could be a factor today against a pretty good giant offense. Okay, so let's talk about what no one really wants to talk about if they lose today is everything lost. Now it's not because of the crazy schedule that they have, so they played a giant snake and there's a biweek next week and then the Giants come to town in two weeks. So they still have their playing teams that are in front of them in the playoff race. They have the Giants today. The cowboys still coming up, the forty-niners, and the Cleveland Browns. So they have still have a chance, even if they do lose today to play, they're going to play the Giants again. They have two more NFC games after that. That 2020 draft loaded. Loaded. Obviously, we know all the quarterbacks, but Joe burrow, number one overall. Joe burrow number one, chase young two, Jeff akuta. I mean, a lot of the state is not high state teammate. It's had some bad luck with injuries. Since, but two. Just 6? Justin Herbert's 6. We know two O one 5, Isaiah Simmons, CJ Henderson, McKay Becton. Is that some injuries too with jets, but. But he was an impact early on. Okay, back to the noise. Gary Judy, CD lamb, Justin Jefferson, obviously a 22 Brandon aiyuk monsters. Isaiah Simmons won for me. I was high on that guy. I really thought the Giants should have taken him early in that draft. And then man, just like the first few picks of the second round too. Tea Higgins, Michael Pittman junior, Deandre swift. Xavier McKinney Kyle Duggar beast. Jonathan Taylor won 41. I remember when tee Higgins was taken there and I just said that, that is, I had watched that kid, I'd watched him from his national championship year, and I just thought he was going to be a difference maker and he certainly has. That's for sure. Chase young, he talked about Carson Wentz a little bit right there. I do believe this move was made because of the, I mean, I was so surprised when it happened. Not that he left or not that he got moved, but the trade that was done for it, right? The amount that was given up, taking on the contract, all of those things. There has to be something that Ron Rivera has seen what the Washington football club is seen in the past playing against Philadelphia twice a year. That they knew he could make it he could make a difference. And people forget, right? I mean, through 27, touchdowns a year ago with only 7 interceptions. Now he was a big reason why they didn't get to the playoffs and how he performed late in the year. That game against Las Vegas, where he coughed it up in Indianapolis, and then on the road at Jacksonville at the end of the season against a team that had only one, I don't know, had they only won one game at that point? I think so. Yeah. Yeah? You know, Trevor Lawrence made Trevor Lawrence look like an all pro quarterback. And they got beat and they got left out of the playoff conversation 'cause guess what? In the AFC, clearly? Just getting into the tournament meant something because if you did, you had a shot. Wide open. On both sides. All sides ended up being wide open. So interested to see what Washington will look like. It was great having chase on the show there, talk a little bit about it. The thing that I find interesting about the NFC east and I made the point is no team has backed it up. Since Philly did back in the early 2000s. No one has went back to back in terms of division champions. It's been a free for all every single year. So I wonder which team is going to step up. It was Philly last year. It was Dallas last year. Year before it was Washington, Philly got in as a wild card a year ago. Who does it this year? I would think that Dallas is right back in the mix. I would think it's Dallas division TJ to kind of lose, right? I know we've talked about them about how they haven't really improved since this time last year, but I still think they're the class of the NFC east, right? I don't know. I don't know, man. I know my spot here is the hype up the whole thing's cowboys, but you know, with rich said a few weeks ago was pretty right. He was like, they are not as good today as they were when the season ended. So we're just going to have to see, you know, despite what people say about the Jones Ryan when it comes to drafting. If you look at the cowboys the last 15 years of draft picks, they've done an overwhelmingly good job of selecting, especially first round talent. We're just going to have to wait and see. I don't think they've been great at putting staffs together to be honest with you. That could be. And if you guys remember correctly, last time I was on the show, or maybe the time before when the season was going on, I said the cowboy's biggest liability was sitting in the head coaching spot. Yeah. Because of what the time management and game management stuff had looked like during the season. Well, clearly it was terrible. Right? I think that's still the same coming into this year. So that for me is the biggest question mark, right? I mean, you've got one of the most dynamic players on the defensive side of the football in Micah Parsons. That draft pick was, yeah. Where did they go in the first round? Did they go get a wide receiver to replace Amari Cooper? Maybe? To put a long CD lamb? I don't know. It seems like there's other spots that should be addressed. I think the offensive line needs to be addressed. I think Tyrone Smith scenario had left tackle when he's healthy. He's great, but he hasn't been healthy. Yeah, I mean, he's put a lot of mileage on that big body, so. Yes, he has. Speaking of the big body,.

If you recall were super disappointed. They wanted revenge on washington for the year before because of the controversial. Nfc title game. That washington beat san francisco in and they were both the division. You know Favorites in they were both the favorites and their divisional round game. They were supposed to meet in that game would have been at candlestick and You know would have been january of nineteen eighty five nineteen eighty-four season but they got the bears. Instead they shut the bears out. Twenty-three nothing that game but the defense they sacked they sacked Thighs men seven times in that game. there's another story real quickly about that game. I'm pretty sure i'm right about this. That was the game where gibbs was practicing shotgun leading into it in. Somebody asked him about it and did a story on it and he blew up that that somebody in the media Divulged that they were working on the shotgun in preparation of the chicago game and so he pretty much you know thighs got sacked seven times in that game. "A lot of them. Do that right. I instructed by the ages so on this. I sixty players. They're thirteen wide receivers on the list thirteen. And we we've not gotten attari maclaurin. Why because mccoy's not going to be on the list. And i'll give you the reason why i feel that way here in a moment but it suggests that they're going to be probably twenty receivers on this list and he's not gonna be on it here the receivers on this list at ninety six cole. Beasley cole beasley. Not better than terry mclaren at ninety. Four jarvis landry at ninety. One corey davis. Who i think was a massive disappointment. After being picked fifth overall out of western michigan by tennessee. He finally had a good year last year and swiss signed as a free agent. I was actually very interested in him for. Washington is a free agent. Because i thought he sort of busted out last year but corey davis better than terry maclaurin. I don't think so. I don't alan robinson comes in at eighty seven. I would take robinson before. I would take terry maclaurin chris godwin and comes in at eighty one. He's dropped about twelve passes during the season last year but he is very good. Adam phelan's at eighty tyler. Lockets it's seventy six. I like tyler lockett a lot. I really do that year. Was the year they pick. Jamison crowder and i remember before that draft i said stefan digs tyler lockett. Either one of those receivers would be a great pick for them and like rounds three through through five or whatever and they took crowder. Crowder was the least of the three clearly Michael thomas comes in at seventy two. And then you get calvin ridley. It's sixty five keenan allen at fifty five oh by the way. Aj brown at sixty two right there for me. That's the tell that there's no chance. Corn is on this list because aj brown's much better. He's not much better. But he's better than terry maclaurin. Aj brown's a beast justin jefferson after one year is fifty three on the list. Mike evans is at forty eight on the list. So guys that you would clearly take before maclaurin you know like evans. I think like aj brown. I may be justin. Jefferson may be we'll definitely keenan allen. I think i don't know that's pretty. Close he's not going to be on this list. There already. thirteen receivers on it. You know in the final forty or they're going to be another seven probably at least maybe eight or nine so in this. Nfl top one hundred list. He's not he's not going to be on a list. That probably has twenty two twenty two receivers on it so anyway just thought it was interesting. I think he should be on this list in front of the people that are on the back into this like like coal. Beasley and corey davis. Terry maclaurin would be ahead of both of those guys on my list. Who had twenty and a half sack. That's stunning record for teammates. But the most disappointing thing. If i was watching a football fan would be an incompetent. Coaching staff a coaching staff. That that looks lost sometimes on time. Timeouts on clock management on play-calling which they have sometimes i wouldn't say they're incompetent but they've looked loss from time to time. And there've been lots of questions about rivera's Enga- management that would be. I'm watching football fans that would be. The biggest disappointment is a habit sense that the coaching staff is wasting town. That's that's an interesting. i'm not. I think that they're not going to ever be the staff. Great o'clock management stuff which will drive me nuts. I predicted that because he wasn't very good at it in carolina he wasn't Maybe he's got somebody on his staff that will be good at it. In fact there was somebody else that was really involved in it last year. And i'm forgetting who. The coach on the staff were that was involved in that was I stand wrote that the combined thirty nine sacks in nineteen eighty nine between dolman and keith. Malarde was the record is the official. Oh wendy klecko. When when did they pull that off. Eighty one yeah okay. Then that's the reason the it wasn't an official stat until nineteen eighty two. Yeah okay well it was. The question excuse me is as follows. What would be your biggest disappointment this year as it relates to the washington football team and let me just give you some context for it. It's like first of all. It's like an expectation that you have as a fan not utah me but those of you listening For something that you're really you know pretty positive about the you know the feel pretty good about like last year mine was. I really would be disappointed. If the defense didn't step up and have a massive improved year and really push you know that ten to fifteen ranking you know area You know d. v. o. in in other words but i really wanted to see a massive improvement That was that was hardly a reach in terms of of a disappointment but with a new coaching staff. With the addition of chase young. It was like that seemed like a total given in. If it didn't happen. I was going to be disappointed. Well did they were. They were significantly improved. I'll give you mine first and then you can give me yours for this year. I would be disappointed. If chase young doesn't have a monster year and get specific in terms of sack totals. I want him to have fourteen plus sacks this year it seven and a half last year fourteen plus along with the other kind of plays he makes you know a couple of forced fumbles. Maybe a touchdown may be an interception. Would put him in that conversation of defensive. Mvp myles garrett and khalil mack. The you know the cops. I think more for chase young. Because they're four three defense events versus some of the three four outside linebackers like von miller and t. j. watt and. I've mentioned this before. The guys like that. That usually get off to a fast restarting their career. Three outside linebackers do in terms of sack totals whereas garrett and khalil mack didn't in their first year but the second year it really started to to i mean they had they had it figured out chase young healthy. Sean taylor and i'd be really disappointed if he doesn't have a big big step up year fourteen plus sacks and like a legitimate legitimately in the conversation for defensive mvp. I would get double digit sack. I know but ryan kerrigan was never even thought of as a defensive. Mvp but you. You were very specific in your numbers that i was. Yes because i think if he takes that big step from seven and a half to fourteen plus in year two. I don't wanna hear excuses about how he was doubled about how he was constantly chipped in how he was constantly game plan for the truly special players. That stuff doesn't matter. Nothing stops them and sacks are the easiest way to that thing look he could have eleven sacks and six forced fumbles and three touchdowns and he could be in the in the hunt for defensive. Mvp but usually it comes from a sack number plus all the other stuff and fourteen plus would put him in the top five you know typically would put them in the top five of the sack total in the league. You can find minus five and minus one zero seven and that adds up at the end of the year if you pay one hundred seven dollars on a loss. But you know you're just you're going to be just barely on one side or the other if you bet the same amount when when people get in trouble it's when they start going all right you know. I am I'm you know up a bunch of money. So i'm really upsides. My bet or down a bunch of money. I'm gonna lower my my bet size or whatever where i'm going to start you know role in these into parlays and teasers and then all the sudden you got a sheet that at the end of the day looks like one of my very good friends one of my oldest closest friends. Billy mack billy. If you're listening. You know how much i love you. Billy sheet at the end of a saturday or sunday late at night wherever we were. I mean what he had written on that you it was it was it was truly like cave writing. Only he understood that what was on it but it was. You know it was typically on average. I would guess about fifty different types of wagers during the course of the day. Lots of of straight pets and over unders in parlays in teasers in this one and this one is still alive and my god those were the days they were though they refund but none of us really are key. None of them. None of my friends ever shut down a book. I told you this one thing with me. There was a stretch of two or three years where i got limited on college basketball bets. That's my claim to fame is a gambler. There is like a two to three year period. Where with college hoops. I just couldn't lose. Like i was hitting on sixty five percent in sixty sixty five percent of my wagers. Anybody that tells you that they're hitting on seventy seventy five eighty percent. They're lying. I was hitting on a very healthy percentage. I was really beating up. a book. And then i had to get a second and third book and two of the three limited Started to limit my bet sizes on college basketball and that. That's probably the closest i've ever gotten to being referred to as a sharp. Although there are people that i have gone through that will will will say it will take my stuff and say yeah. He's on that just in case you know if they then bet themselves but not not what the nfl. The nfl. Nobody in the nfl. The lines are the sharpest. And the tightest. And it's it's the hardest not with college football unless you're talking about some of the lesser conferences to a certain degree. Sometimes there's a little bit of you know room there but but usually they figure it out pretty quickly and i'm not the person on it before the sharp guy gets on it but college. Hoops has always been my number one success in betting. I've always i love college basketball as you know. And i've always had a sense for the lines. That looked a little bit off. And the and the the contrarian smell tests picks. The smell test is worked better in college basketball than it's ever worked in football so for those of you who are then going to say. Well why don't you do a smell test college basketball segment. Well i can't give you. I'm best at no. I'm kidding it's because it's because nobody cares about that. Everybody cares during football season. They wanna hear make picks no matter how they do it. They want to hear people make picks but no one's ever accused me of being super sharp When it comes to football. I don't know anybody that super sharp in football football's that is hard. It's the most bet sport by miles. It's where they're they're the sharpest on numbers. You know one of the things. I i've i've done in recent years is i've tried to play opening lines guessing on which way it's going to move and then come back in. Try to middle it like sometimes if i have a really strong feeling about what will i. I've been pretty good at guessing point spreads and how they will move in. So i'll try to get a bet and try to get a line right when it comes out before moves in a direction that i'm not gonna want it to move in. So either i get a really good number for the game. That i like. Or if it moves enough. I can come back. And what we call middle it But you know really the thing about bet real betters. Who really tried to make this into a part time gig. They're looking for the best possible number and the best possible price. So that's why. I said when you may not have an account with my book you may have an account with you know bet. Mgm or some of the other really good ones out there but you should have multiple accounts so you get the best possible number. The best point spread the best money. Line the best over under total. You want these half points. You would be shocked if you look at the data at the end of the year. How many of these games there within a half point of being right on. So if you've got a half point in your favor that's going to benefit you and on pricing. You know a lot of these legal sports books. Tommy are taking advantage of naive first time bettors with very expensive figs very expensive fees. I've seen him. I'm not gonna talk much about him because I don't want to but you've got you know you shouldn't be paying minus anything more than minus one tan on a straight bet. I mean we're just seeing that unfold now so that book has been written yet. That's a book. I wrote of really liked to have but This just give them up in front of and yes and also I certainly am extending this. Invite for you. It was always on my mind. I just haven't gotten around to zoom call lecture Sometime this fall for my businesses sports media. Glad i would love to do it and would be great and you know the the gambling thing really for sports. Betting look casino games. Take more time like teat to teach somebody to play you know basic blackjack or basic crap strategy. That takes time and by the way it's such a visual thing and you really need especially for craps. You really need a craps table to really teach somebody to play now. It's not hard i mean. Have you ever been at a dice table. You see some of the people that are there. It's not hard but it it you know. There's there's more to it sports. Betting really is pretty easy to explain. You know if unless you're not a sports fan you know whenever i've had these conversations in the past i'm betting with somebody that doesn't understand it. Let me give you a couple of the things that just popped into my mind in terms of for whatever reason what seems to be a struggle plus seven or minus seven her plus whatever they don't get the pluses or the minuses like they don't understand that minus seven means you're laying seven points and plus seven means you're getting seven points and i guess there's some logic in that right like if you're giving points plus i'm giving them to you. I'm taking the points would be a so. They get confused with that definitely They also really get confused with actually straight bets. In in terms of the verbiage in the and the discussion in the words use. That's always the. I think that's always the number one Hard thing now when you get into prop bets and you get into parlays and stuff. A lot of people just don't incapable of computing. Even the basic of odds. You know they don't know what three to one means or they don't know what five to two means in so that's going to be a hard thing to get across anyway but the basics on like a straight bet on a game or an over under total or a money line bet. That's pretty easy to explain. It really is i. there has to be i just. I just searched it and it looks like there is a sports betting for dummies book. Yeah there is. I didn't want to get that. Just i didn't like the title is the same that but that's air. Yeah here's a description. It says in one one segment which sports use the money. Line lines are available across all sports. Every day are most popular used. Went betting baseball hockey or soccer. This is because baseball hockey and soccer. A low scoring sport and the large majority games decided by one run or one goal. Is that accurate. Yeah now baseball has run line in hockey. Has a goal line in. Soccer does too but yeah money lines in hockey baseball in soccer or most often used and by the way in individual sports. You know tennis Golf at saturn. Golf has stroke so it's different You know in their their basic golf gets pretty complex in terms of the betting. Because you you're presented with individual matches you know for round you know like it's justin rose against roy mcelroy today roy mcelroy. It's money line roy. Or whatever and you just take one one or the two But yeah football was just tailor made for point spreads because of the points the total points basketball. The same thing tailor made for point spreads Now the other favourite bets in hockey and baseball in particular are over unders. You know you hockey now. They're usually pretty much the same. I think i was joking last year during the hockey playoffs or just a couple of months ago. It seems like every hockey total is five and a half. it's almost all ivan. Oh tommy there's the other thing so the plus and minus seems to trip people up in the half point has always trip people up it trips. Even the smartest people they. I don't but they can't win by can't score six and a half points and what am i. It keeps you from keeping from getting a push for that number right. Yeah well. I mean it. It's any any line with a half in it. Means there's going to be a winner and a loser you can't push six and a half but it's just what the line is and sometimes it'll fall on six. Sometimes it will seven. Sometimes it'll fall on six and a half. But the what i'm saying is people don't understand they. They can't figure out wait a minute. Oh the adventure. they're like okay so six and a half means. If i have them then you get into the plus minus and then you just have safety have them getting points if they if they if they win by if they lose by six or less i win if they by seven or more i lose. It's that's a hard one to for people to get. I don't know. I you know what you want to hear. This is the god's honest truth. I don't love gambling as much on sports as i used to. I've lost interest in it. I really have an. I don't know if it's doing the youth thing where when everybody else starts to do it now. It's like you know i can't. I will tell you this.
