"Run the ball Chase. Edmunds got a big Wayne takes it down to the 27 clock. Still moving inside a minute to go. Cardinal still have two timeouts. Murray in the gun takes the snap back to pass pumps, right looks now rolls to his right being pressured throws to the right sideline in complete growing behind Christian Kirk in the clock stops with 50 seconds to go, and it's second down and 10. Telling a good job. They're shutting it down. And then Tyler Mary did a really smart thing. He threw the ball away second. Now they're in a good position here with a couple of time outs. You can get this done if they make if they called the right place now. But that was a heck of a call that running play to chase Edmunds. Everybody's waiting for me. Throw it. Yes, it was. Taken lane opened up for him. Three receivers right. Two receivers left second out of 10 ball to Seattle 27 yard line. 50 seconds to go Cardinals down by seven. Marie back in the shotgun. He gets the snap. Marie, back to pass sets his feet going deep down the middle of a field. It's knocked away and incomplete. Fitzgerald wants a flag and he won't get it. There was a crowd of Seahawks defenders around Larry Fitzgerald. Murray took a shot, and now it's 3rd and 10. Actor was underneath. Diggs was over the top. Looks like there was maybe a little early contact their quandary. Dicks was early contact, but I think he was going for the football and so a bang bang play like that. No calls. Probably a good call. So 3rd and 10 now 45 seconds to go again. Cardinal still have two time outs. Three receivers, right Hopkins, Single man to the left. Three of the shotgun hands in front of his chest. He takes the snap. Gonna blow it dead put, Kingsbury called a time out. Wait. That's not what the Cardinals wanted to do, Coach That is a time out. You'd rather keep in your back pocket..

"I don't think that you're selling high for getting an RB three. You GotTa Get uh Gaskin I would sell them for Antonio Gibson. In fairness most of these guys we rank from twenty four to thirty including Daryl Henderson and probably miles. Yup. Definitely Miles asking all of these guys have out scored Kenyan drake this season, right? Yeah. Not Be easy to trade him for them. You're getting more than that that I wouldn't do it. Well then you may have depreciating asset on your hands that's going to be worth even less next week. I. Feel like Miles Gaskin should be head of draken. Henderson. Though though at least ahead of Henderson again is the lead back. Right. I think and that's the thing and it depends on how you view drake in relation to like the touches, the Henderson and gaskin going to get. Because Drake's going to get fifty, let's say just stays the same he's going to get fifteen carries a week. He's going to struggle with red zone work because collar Murray and chase edmunds it's going to take the passing gas work. Right. Well, there'll Henderson's. Even, in this timeshare, because the rams are now the most heavy team in the NFL is going to get close to fifteen touches a week. And seems like you might get more rich. And Kenyan drake or do you think they start going to camakers more? I don't know we don't have any indicate. I would worry more about the cardinals going to chase edmunds more than the rams going to camakers more. You yes. Trays Edmonds has earned touches right. And in the thing with gaskin is like yeah, he's GonNa get twenty touches in games they win the right three of those the rest of the year. Ten carries and five. And you know like realistically that's not saying they're that bad that would give them six six wins on the year. It's now there to you. Okay. So they might win four more the rest of your. Way Off. All right. Well, but at least put at least Gaskin is pretty high. Floor is catching passes every game, right? Can you would rather have GASCO in drake okay. Well I think that's that's a fairly realistic trade. You can do All right. I. Don't know I just selling high. The Kenyan drake is not useless. He's still you said fifteen carries game. He's had more than that four times but maybe the takeaway here is we should be buying low on chase edmunds because perhaps his time is coming where he gets more involved and I you it's just weird. It's weird that they're using edmonds in ways that you. Feel like they should be using drake you know in the passing Game Heath you've pointed out he hasn't always been great in the passing game but well, we talked about this in the off-season. One of the things they did with David Johnson last year when he was having success is he was a lot of his work in the passing game was not coming when he lined up in the Backfield, it was when he was lining up as a wide receiver. That was not something they did with Kenyan drake last year that was something they did chase edmunds last year this year they are doing it again with chase edmunds and they are not doing drake. So I don't like that part is not something where we would expect them to do that with Kenyan drake before. Would you guys like some.

"Out of nowhere I'd rather find those guys than hope for an injury. What are your eyes? I was doing that year with my late round picks in all of the mock drafts we were doing. That's how I ended up with two quarterbacks and too tight end sometimes three quarterbacks on some of the teams that that we were drafting i. It, it's the double digit rounds. You should already have most not all of your starters by then just draft good players players who you think can start the season off hot that you can potentially flip. Yeah well. I replied to lead because he was talking about a ten team league when I said was in attentively, that's much easier to do at twelve team league. All of those handcuffs are going to be rostered. They're going to be drafted because we obsess over them now and I never really fully bought into that. You know why? Because look how many tweets I got this week and how many emails we? Should I drop chase? Edmunds from Brown haze should I drop Tony Pollard Draw Boston's Scott. That's what that's what I'm trying to talk about the entire frigging off season you draft all these handcuffs and. They're going to be great their lottery tickets you are going to have to cut them if starting running back doesn't get hurt in the first three or four weeks of the season you sit there and try holding onto Tony Pollard or chase Edmunds who yes he caught a touchdown but if you didn't catch that touchdown as workload is a big concern so. That it's it's a high risk high reward strategy, but I think in reality, a lot of those guys are getting dropped. So I do think huge roster two or three tied at two or three quarterbacks to two tight ends, and you try to hit that guy who break sidings is a great point and a good email he well. Go ahead. No that's fine. Yeah. You're probably going to end up dropping handcuffs I I think I've said that before I agree with it. But for every two or three chase edmunds and Tony Pollard's there's a Benny Snell or Malcolm Brown. Well, MALCOLM BROWN WASN'T A. Starter. He was still a late round. Pick it. He was going after a lot of the handcuffs right now. We're. Right it was he the reason why you were taking Malcolm Brown in all the mocks we did and you're taking more than anybody was because you knew that he was starting week one and let's just see what happens. Well now look what's happened and look what's happened in Pittsburgh and look what's happened in Indianapolis. So their cases to be made for other handcuffs and it's just a matter time for well, it's not a matter of time, but it's the whole ideas. You draft the handcuff hoping that they come into play at some point as a emerging star in fantasy. And this kind of goes look I. I said that I took a lot of two tight ends and a lot of two quarterbacks and some of the marks that we did. I still drafted a lot of running backs as well. The position I. Didn't draft a lot of for my bench was wide receiver, and now look at the wide receivers that were available on the waiver wire. After just one week the we could list off five names of guys that are great bench wide receivers for now, and if I wanted to if I was inclined drop, Latavius Marianna League I don't have Alvin Kamara and pick up. The. In this league where I do something like that because I had Michael Thomas who do you think Dave said David, Internet's we're all working from home and things are a great days days international spotted a heath so Which player do you think? He said what is Internet cut out just there why I said like ten names I would think he said Paris Campbell okay. Here's cable. All right. Let's let's move on to this one.

"Okay. So we've got up to ten draft tips for you. Get. One Draft. At least two software why don't you Sunday? You still. People's draft status draft number one that is so bad. Let's let me get like the trending players that are either moving up or moving down for you right now last week we talked Damien Harrison Bryce love There are any other players right now that you WANNA spotlight don't don't look at ADP it's outdated these guys are higher or lower. Well I'll start with Bryce love because there's report from a guy that I trust it works for the Athletes Ben Stanbic he's played in some fancy leagues with me before he's. A season fantasy player. He says that it's not a lock that Bryce love will be on the active roster every week if they only carry three running backs because they'll go with Peterson, the goal Gibson in the goes jd mckissick over Bryce love, which is a little bit surprised to read that. So he's probably somebody that has to be trending down One guy that I'm very excited about I've said this time and time again but the reporters continue to glowing is Joshua Kelly you know he's the guy that I don't want to say that I plant my flag with him but he's somebody that I'm going to have a Lotta shares off I. Already have a lot of shares of him loud drafts coming up over the next two weeks and anybody that asked me, who's the sleeper guy that you are highly recommending this is the one because I do think he's going to be the backup to US nickel or the second guy to us neck ler and. He may not have the job over Justin. Jackson now he will have the dob over Justin Jackson by the end of the season. This is the guy that I want on all of my fantasy teams. So would you take Josh Kelley ahead of Bryce love I haven't okay. Would you take Josh Kelley head of Chase Edmunds. See. So that's the the interesting part of it. That's where you have to play the draft. So as the hype continues, maybe you have to take Josh Kelley headed Jason's I haven't had to do that yet. So if it comes down to those are the only two running backs available. Then, I'll probably take Josh Kelley over Jason, but you know if chase Edmunds becomes the guy for the Arizona. Backfield, he's probably going to be better than Josh Kelley unless neck alerts.

"Zach. Moss. Has at the college level was a more efficient receiving back. And was Devin Single Terry at Florida. Atlantic and Devon Single Terry wasn't particularly outside of that the the playoff loss to Huston out outside of that. He really was not very productive in the passing game. They were both drafted in the third round. So their draft capital in what the team invested in them very, very similar and I think the bills are going to be good. Bill I think you think the bills are going to be good to right I on the Josh Allen Mvp Trae came on our show and said that you liked it. But I I like it as a as a contrarian play I'm not it's not my personal choice but I, I'm going to admire it if it works out for you I rave enough. To. Okay. Okay. GOING TO BE A playoff team this year I do agree with you on. Okay. So that and we certainly agree that they have a good defense and you know I mean they're going to be disciplined on defense and we're going to be in like every game and percent the AFC East is weak. So they're gonNA have a lot of positive. game script that plays into the hands of a big back Zach Moss who is built to finish out games much more. So than is five seven to three Devon single tear. So if Zach, let's just say, the Zach Moss's floor is one hundred, seventy, nine touches that Frank Gore left behind last year that would already put him. That's over ten touches a game that would already make him a value at where he's being drafted in fantasy leagues, and then I think that he has the potential to be. A major boost google who's covered the bills for a long time and is one of the best be writers in the game. He suggested that there would be Games Zach Moss would be the future back. This year Devon Single Terry would be the change of pace back and when you look at them. That's what they look like look exact should be the feature back in Devon Single Terry should be the change of pace. So yes. So just the range of potential outcomes here on Zach Moss who's pretty darn intriguing. And I think you always hear with Ricky backs. The big concern is, can they pass protector? They're going to be able to get on the field and third. I will tell you single terry was ninety great press protector. Last year really struggled at times. In watching some of that Josh Allen Tate for the column I did so. You know it's not as if you know Frank Gore's Frank Gore's their primary back because you'd sit there and say, okay, well, we know frank is going to be on the field when they have to throw the football. That's not necessarily the case secretary so I mean I think there's more upside Zach Moss. Then I think a lot of people are giving him credit for so I absolutely agree with you there I think Zach Boston someone who you should absolutely especially if you're going with ACO running back bill. You know a A. Limited running back, build in the early rounds and you're really heavily focusing on receiver. I think is absolutely a target for you later in fantasy drafts. In terms of the running backs were out there is there like a handcuff or someone who you think you know it's kind of being seen as a backup who might have a bigger role looming for them. Even as early as you know, kind of September. Edmund stands out to me and again you know I like to look at these situations from team levels, zoom out and just look at you know the offensive environment for individual players and if they were to get more opportunity than we are projecting now whether due to injury or due to. Unforeseen circumstances mean this is a unique year and every year there are surprises in week one. And I think that they're going to be maybe even more surprises in week one this year than in most years. But I think one surprise could be the chase Edmunds in Arizona. Has a bigger role than anticipated not that he's going to overtake Kenyan Drake or anything? I mean the showed their commitments Kenyan drake a by giving him. You an eat guarantee essentially guaranteeing him an eight point five, million salary. That's a lot for running back. But from the team level. In the first year under cliff. Kingsbury. Despite the fact that they probably had a bottom ten offensive line in terms of. Like individual offensive LINEMAN TALENT They were number two in football outsiders rushing devi away. They were top ten in the NFL in. Total rushing yards they you know historically quarterbacks that have dual threat capabilities can spike the efficiency of the offense as a whole, and we have a dual threat quarterback. In Tyler Murray. If you look at the history of Kenyan Drake, you've never had he spent four years at Alabama never had more than ninety two carries. Nfl He's been in the NFL for what five years now is career high during season in terms of touches is fifteen point seven, which he set last year. This cardinals backfield is probably GONNA end up producing more toward thirty touches for game out of their backfield as a whole cuyler Murray is going to account for you know four or five of the six of those per game as well in. Terms of rushing attempts, but that league that would leave a lot. Let's just say Kenyan drake matches his previous career high in touches per game heave some real standalone opportunity for chase edmunds who has been good when he's gotten opportunity. So you know plays a good rushing offense. We think he's good starter in front of him is not particularly proven as a workhorse not proven really at all as a workhorse. And Chase Edmunds is cheap and drafts I. think that he is another guy that we should prioritize really just make sure you get them on your team and I'll be willing to draft him late in the single digit rounds of team draft. Coming, this is a guy who last year really had one game. Ask the primary back in that offense and he had twenty seven carries for one hundred, twenty, six yards twenty, four receiving yards, three touchdowns against the giants on ninety four percent of the snaps and at hurt the following week the cardinals straight for Kenyan drake can drake as a couple of games and we. Saw It happen but I mean Kenyan drake is not you know they did commit to him on a transition that's one hundred percent true. But they didn't sign him to a long term contract is I'm as if you know they have anything tying can enjoy to that roster after this season chase Edmunds is under contract for a couple more years so you know it wouldn't be. Shocking by any means, if you know Kenyan drake were to get injured or slowdown or how rough week that they would turn to chase edmunds and chase Edmunds was the hot hand that they would make in the starting running back and you know I I think there's not only the you know the sort of the floor you mentioned where he could be a viable part of that rushing attack but also significant upside he could gave really really valuable running back. If he is given the full time role because I think the cardinals would be inclined to use him as an every down you know a three down back and that's that's going to be hard to come by even if have most Compared to most handcuffs where you know. Trying to think of guys out there but most guys like fat if a team loses starting running back, they're going to be part of our tation. We're not GONNA be.

"And we seven, eight, six, hundred thirty seven yards, five td's on one, hundred, forty six carries You know he's one of those. I think he sort of I. think there's like different. There's different echelons to these handcuffs right where you see a guy who you know. He's GonNa. Get the work if a guy gets injured just because he's a backup. But guys at Korean Tastes Murray they the town. Is there already? We know that they can do it We know if they're capable of being that every down sort of back and they had the towns to sort of Cardi starting role, basically be a one beast sort of running back. Should the the one egg hurt so Latavius? Murray's another very interesting one to keep your eyes on super-low low ADP definitely worth the pick. If you know worth stashing, these are guys were stashing Kareem Hunt could probably give points on a week to week. Basis you know are be low in two or three kind of Guy Because I I'm sure he'll get know receiving touchdowns quite often on if you're in a PR league guy like. Cream Hans can be very very valuable latavius. Murray. Definitely GONNA GET A. Some hype on I think also because guys who picked him up on the waiver wire. He performed for a very very solidly. I think he actually had a game. Try Remember. He had a huge game I think about thirty points in a game and trying to remember who they were playing. He had a game where you had thirty or close to thirty points event in a fancy football and I know people are going wild for that. And I know he had some other games are there were pretty solid as well I? Don't think he wasn't blowing You know the tops off of people every week, but he had a couple solid weeks where he was definitely going over twenty five points I think it was a string of two or three two or three games something like that where he had Twenty five plus sorry I don't know about the top of my head, but I do know that he had so a couple games over twenty five points, so keep your eyes Tavis Mary Eisenhower high powered offense. Super Super Salad. All Right? The next one I want to talk about here. Certainly an interesting one because I think a lot of people aren't. He sort of got forgotten. Chase Edmunds of the Amazon cardinals now when chase Edmunds had filled in for David Johnson he was pretty productive and I think he basically just got once Kenyan. Drake came in and exploded onto the scene. It was over for Jay Segments Right but I think you know. Chase EDMUNDS has shown. He can do I think he could. Definitely, he's definitely the sorry. He's definitely the number two wide receiver. He can see work in the past game so again. Pr Kinda handcuff here to pay attention to and I think that's going to be a high powered offense next season where we can see him to deal several touchdowns off a little screen here and there Kendrick off the field for rest real quick chase Edmunds speedy as a player making billy. We've seen it happen. Right, and in two thousand, nine, hundred sixty carries yeah, three hundred and three yards and four touchdowns, so he's a very productive runner of the football We just have to see him in a full season. He's not getting absolutely destroyed a by the Kenyan drake hype. I think this is one where we're going to see an evolution of this offense for sure you know with you, know the addition of the Andre Hopkins Kenyan Drake being. You know the the full time starter, but chase edmunds had really really good games, and he had a huge game in week seven with thirty three fantasy football points against the New York giants twenty seven carries one hundred twenty six yards three. Td's on the ground. To catches for twenty four yards, so you know in the week after that he had twelve point seven week that fourteen point six, those are solid days to of course, rb one numbers. We saw his rb one number potential thirty three points right there, so keep your eyes on chase edmunds as a handcuff. I. Think he can be very very valuable for where you're going to be drafting him. Now the last person I want to talk about. Here's one is very very interesting I think. be a surprise to a lot of people. Anthony McFarland of the Pittsburgh. Suess, how this is a rookie as the only rookie I'll talk about today. Of course, we'll talk about more handcuffs as we move along here. But. move along. You know getting closer to the season, but. I think he's going to carve out a his role as he number two behind James Connor. Now we. Talked about the show here and we've seen you know there's been a little bit a drama surrounding. James Connor I wouldn't actually drama, but you know. The steelers aren't sure if that's the guy they want to run with. You know for the future for the long haul. James Connor hasn't necessarily carved out his role as you know the franchise running back for the Pittsburgh steelers and he's had some trouble staying healthy now. He did have that awesome season. You know, but you know. Last season only had four hundred sixty four yards. He did at four yards a carry, but it's nowhere near as good you know. He had nine hundred seventy three season before that on four point, five yards a carry with twelve. TD's get four TD's last season, only four hundred sixty four yards, and only four yards a carry. The four yards of carries not horrible, but you know the top backs in the League is certainly over four some by significant margins now. The reason why I like Anthony McFarland is because he has. A great speedy at one of the top times for his position at a combine for the forty yard dash believe it was four for four people have compared to compared him to Jamaal Charles, and if he can have that sort of versatility of Jamaal, Charles he's going to be a beast. You know I don't know if a lot of you know who Jamaal Charles is. Let me fill you in. In He's one of the best running backs ever play the game I believe he has he highest yards per carry career yards per carry ever and I think he definitely deserves a spot in hall He. Of course he you know. Career shortened by injuries. Sadly, but he is an. He was an awesome running back for the Kansas City chiefs on. If anything, McFarland can be anything like Jamaal Charles and he's certainly going to be so I like him. I think he definitely should be retire the John. Samuels Benny Snow. On Your List I. BELIEVE ADP's actually higher than those to. Be just because you a lot of people, you rookies get a lot of love. You know especially ones that are quick. playmakers you know because just because of the potential. Even we haven't seen them. Play on the field yet. We believe in their potential paid as an anything McFarland. Guys. I think he could be very very productive especially if James Connor gets hurt again. We saw him struggle with the health issues and I'm not wishing injury on at all. Of course not, but he could get hurt again. He struggled with health issues. An anti McFarland carve out a rule natsteel's offense to pay attention to him. With that guys. I WANNA. Say Thank you for listening to today's show, GMC fancy football podcast brought to you by the.

"That'd be really cool. If they ever chose to do a straight up war machine movie right like I think to have roads go up against Norman. Osborn would be would be be a pretty cool movie but yeah I agree. I think that he's he's fantastic. What you're what you're talking about to the your nothing without the suit if you're nothing without the suit you don't deserve to have a conversation from Spiderman that he goes through here like that's that's again like a lot of this movie is a response to avengers. Overtly him on the other side at the battle of New York. But I think it's on the other side of that philosophical fight that he had that almost turned into a physical fight that he has the captain. America on the hell carrier when Loki sceptres tweaking out. And that's what capsized him there would take off the suit. And who are you feel like? That's a that's a question that sears into Tony. Away that he never quite gives up front facing so. I really really liked that observation. I think that that that works. I mean look the reason. People don't like this movies because at the Mandarin now. I'm excited to talk about this. Let's do this. Let's do it because it's the reason why people don't like the movie. I think I mean we've got feedback. We'll we'll get into different observations from the feedback. But like I think that that is would you? Would you agree or disagree with the idea that like when people say that? Ironman three is bad. That's because they're mad about the mandarin thing. I agree. I think a lot of people were excited about the idea of the mandarin showing up and when that was taken away from them and I mean there's an easy complained to make where she's like. Oh You COULDA had a mandarin and said you had like another business guy in a suit is true but at least is business guy had an interesting power set and I think that at least made an interesting fight at the end is because his powers that was different. Three stuff which comes rain. I don't remember how much I loved the iron man. Comic Book Arc. That did this. I remember had awesome artwork. And I do think that visually translates really really well in iron man three James Badge. Dale like as like chase Edmunds from twenty four glowing glowing with hot orange fire and just kind of Blake. Being like a cocky douchebag with those powers. It's a cool look. I think I think it really does look very very very cool. The Guy Pearce at all notwithstanding absolutely honestly I mean. That's the thing to like. I I understand the problems with it was just like Oh Guy. Pearce's the bad guy but I think he does a good job in in terms. It doesn't again..

Dj's Fine Edmonds is great they wouldn't be desperate to bring in back to work out so I think he's not fine exactly yeah he's eight chase edmunds came out and said it in the post game press conference chase said look over to Dj we both knew you can't play professional football at the running back position like he was I told him I'll carry the load don't worry about it we know we need to be back next week next week's tough situation for fantasy owners get you got New Orleans who is one of the best defences and football spending you're going to have especially against especially against the run I mean for goodness sakes we'll talk about Matt Nagy too but what do you do with these two backs what if you have David Johnson active again Yeah David he he wanted to give it a go and we gave him the opportunity he went out and he just didn't have it that would that's one thing so that the threes white veins the players are upset and look you you know where I have signed it on coaches not being forthright with information but he comes out and says well yeah this was the plan he was going to be the emergency back like really you're matchup against the giants was turned around 'cause you threw them the smoke bomb in the the greatest day of his career and now he's a different player than David Johnson Edmonds far more explosive edmonds has the entire year even before David Johnson banged up when it comes to the pure runner chase Edmunds has looked vastly better than David Johnson. Dj Still Looks Great in the passing game and it gets the head of steam he can be elusive but chase. Edmunds looks like he fits this scheme a lot better we have a waiver show tomorrow we'll talk about chase edmunds obviously he we already know I've got a lot of questions on twitter today saying how much Fab for him I said zero he should've been on your bench three weeks ago we told you to put him on your bench but he's not German.

"If you look at the receivers that he was able to target you who you had catching the ball. I know Larry's on this podcast. He was throwing vault to Larry Larry thirty five years old and nothing against older receivers. But I mean, it's difficult to maintain the same level consistent excellence and upside on your receiving ability when you reach a certain age, and so the fact they still productive at thirty five is a real testament to his work ethic and his nutrition and everything else that goes into it. But he's not the same receiver that he was probably five years ago. And that's bear that out. He also had David Johnson. Who's coming back from ACL that injury that was his second most targeted player. And then if you look at like third through number seven, it's like a rookie Christian Kirk second year. Twenty-three year-old year old tight end Ricky Jones rookie. Trent sherfield second year, twenty four year old player Chad Williams, and then a rookie running back. Chase Edmunds like young players that offensive line tough schedule. Oh, by the way, changing offense of coordinators after six seven weeks season. The team started one in six the got rid of Mike McCoy, it was just a difficult first rookie season for this quarterback. Compare that to what we've seen with Nick foles, Nick foles. Obviously, I think aggressive coaching creative coaching good quarterback coaching up in Philadelphia. And he was able to come in like in situations where you're starting quarterback injured. There's not a whole lot of expectations here. Let's just try to run things down the road. He didn't play as well as I you weeks of the season before they got their starter back from injury this past season. So I think, you know, the experts it's very very difficult situation to compare the two. To one another. But the easiest thing is the contract. How are you going to build this team? And if you look at AFC south, and you look at the opponents that you're dealing with their you've got the Shawn Watson in the Houston. Texans. You gotta Andrew lock you got March mariota like I don't want Marcus mariota. But the other two guys obviously, very good. They've got good structures that they're in. I think you need a longer term plan. And Nick to me at least I like, Nick. But he's not the type a guy who, you know. He deserves other changes in the league, right? I don't I don't disagree with that. But I just you know, I, I don't know. I kind of would have rather seen the Josh Rosen on still three years plus a option year down in Jacksonville at a significantly lower cost than overpaying potentially in free agency. You tend to do that a guy like Nick foles and having to, you know, work him into the situation, especially when you're deal. With a somewhat of a higher paid a running back in Leonard fournette, so I think at the difficult spot for for them, but I would probably chose otherwise than what they decided to do that situation. You got to think what the cap savings for not signing falls? If you went with a Rosen, you could, you know, go out and trade for in Tonio Brown and their leader. New his well God that receiver group is ugly. And reminds me of the question I brought up on our on our panel. Which was would you rather have C-plus rookie quarterback by rookie? I mean on contract or a B minus veteran in most teams in the NFL will pay the veteran. I don't agree with that for all the reasons we're describing, and I think a good example is to look at the teams, and I think emissions on the panel that make it in the playoffs it's entirely guys on rookie contract. Some of whom I would say Mitch trubisky's probably see plus at this point. And it's veterans who are very good. Okay. And you don't see teams with mediocre highly paid veterans making it to the playoffs. So, you know with the rookie you at least you're. Your ceiling, maybe lower, but your floor is higher in some ways because of the opportunity cost. That's just how I feel about it. All right. We didn't have time to ask Larry questions..

"And that's very impressive. Absolutely. Let's we need to get into the running back talking about the running backs type muffins. We also have rising stars on the show today. Todd Gurley got it done. Three cohen. Hey what a weapon twelve for one fifty six in the passing game. Also threw a touchdown. Just to twist the knife on me. He's a monster Philip Lindsey who you can't make him a star of the week anymore. Jay because he's gonna end up in the top five season. I'll tell you what if I can't make him a star of the week anymore. Start Philip Brindisi Lindsey forever. Don't the start of the year. Nineteen considering San Francisco Cleveland, Oakland, next three games. Start Philip Lindsey every chance you get nineteen for one fifty seven and to sixty five yard touchdown run. In this game. -absolutely electric other than being kicked out of the third. His third start. He would double digits and every game this year. And the fact of the matter is easy schedule. I think Denver makes the playoffs. I think I think Denver wins out. And I think one of Pittsburgh Baltimore lose out on the playoffs. I think it'll be Baltimore. So denver. Oh, you think. He'll lose out in Denver will win it. We'll see what happens Christian McCaffrey against Tampa Bay doing Christian McCaffrey things James Connor the injury is a concern. But he he did enough before that. To you to beat me. Yeah. He planned his injuries appropriately for Brooks. What are you guys? Make of the chase Edmunds two touchdown game. He he was out touched significantly by David John and out snaps. David Johnson was actually it doesn't look like it because of the fantasy box gore. David Johnson was was the workhorse. Chase Edmunds was in for about twenty one percent of the snaps. He just happened to rattle off some big plays. And got a lot of goal line up or Tunde. So I am not making much of it. Yeah. I don't I don't read much into it either. I don't even if you wanna get on the well, why was he in? Nothing. David Johnson with him. If we have you haven't learned for what is transpired over the weekend. You have to have your handcuffs now. Yeah, there's already. No, this is the time of year for sure I, but I I don't I don't care that much about he he had two great runs when he got the opportunity inside the tin. They both turn to touch them. If you haven't learned by now cost and knows how to run the football Mabry got injured. Jeff Wilson junior. Yes. Jeff Wilson junior came in and had a break out game. Eight for seventy three through the air fifteen for sixty one on the ground. He looked very good. And hand system makes everyone look good. I agree with you. Most look good Brita. Look good this year. Mckinnon would've looked real good thing is he faces Denver next week. If Brita misses a week is Jeff Wilson junior. Somebody who are looking to pick up one hundred percent. Yeah. I mean if burrito. I mean, he's got to be looked at because if Brita MRs than he's a fine. Start realized Denver's rushing defense has been much better as of late, but that doesn't matter. I mean, if you've got the starting running back for Kyle Shanahan system you've got a fantasy. You know, you've got a fantasy star. Yeah. Yeah. You gotta pay attention to them for sure James white James white Zunes like every play was called James white the off James why the ridiculous like what was it right before the half wore forty yarder a forty yard about where it was like. You. There's seconds left you need like a hail Mary. And instead of a hail Mary. They just dump it to James wipe for two yards. And then there's no defenders because they're all down at the goal line. So he just runs for forty yards and basically slides down. It was the most worthless. Play in history other than four your four points. Breaking news a little bit of an update Mike Tomlin talking about. Oh, James, Connor Tomlin. At least saying it is not an injury to the ankle in any way, shape or form..

"You don't need those guys. You can pick up. Some guys you mentioned and field. You mentioned your waiver wire com is a great list in there all the top running backs in their handcuff, rod Smits and other guy. He's been downloading on and off my Rosser all season long. Those are guys that can win you championships. If someone gets injured, so I'd say players line might be like younger receivers, you talked about the sub. The the number the robust number of receivers that are available like how about a Markaz Valdez scaling. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye guys thought could become things that had flashes. This year. Could certainly be comfortable dropping either one of those those types of players chase Edmunds would be a guy by the way in twins another go Giovanni Bernard, by the way, if something were to happen to mix and now the Bernard's back. So those are some guys that has a real quick question. What do you do if you don't roster any of these running backs, but the handcuff is still out there on the waiver wire? I mean is there any don't have Todd Gurley. But Malcolm Brown is out there. Right. Like is. It should you. Would you say employees the same strategy? You look at your roster. If I'm never going to start this guy over, you know, Malcolm Brown gets hurt. It's I know it's not my handcuff. But I'm potentially stopping someone else that I can meet in the playoffs. Is that is that a strategy that you guys would employ? I got no problem with it. Yeah. I do that year round. I mean, especially on I mentioned this earlier. It's a lot of fun with you. Yeah. Like Sunday morning. If a guy goes on iron, I have an IRA slot and throw them on there. I'm going rate to look for the backup for running back. That's playing that day. Because if twenty minutes later, Zeke goes down and hurt and you've already got. Or whatever. Right. That just saves you pretty much your entire fab or waiver spot. And you know, you have an Rb two or one the next week. Yeah. Don't question you should do that year. It's a lottery ticket in that scenario. You don't have Todd Gurley. But you're picking up Malcolm Brown. It's just a lottery taken it all depends upon roster construction there is there is a chance where sometimes I've seen teams where people get to cute, and they dropped somebody that could potentially be productive form for Malcolm Brown that has no value whatsoever. Unless something were to happen to girly or whatever they clench, and then you know, they're gonna rest girly in week sixteen or seventeen something like that. But yeah, I don't have an issue with it to feels. Yeah. I mean, I have. I'm no issue with you know, playing playing defense as it were like if you if the way you're looking at quarterback in a week like Daniel did recently. I I thought it was I listen I gave him a lot of grief about it. But I never said it was a wrong move. You know, and I if there was collusion across the lead to do something. But like I was a blocking strategy to be able to get a win that week. Yes. I thought I thought I didn't think it was a particularly bright move because of who else was out there, and because you had other needs correct? But I didn't have an issue with it. And I gave you crap about it because that's our relationship. But I didn't think it was like I quote illegal move as it were totally. Yeah. Good stuff. There can't overstate the importance of handcuff running back this time of the year, especially the right players to handcuff.

"Throws it out into the flat to Christian Kirk. It is going to be caught regain of eight on the play the penalty. You got hawkeye's again that movement on the offensive or defense on look like the defensive line for my side defense that penalties declined second down. Butts to to defensive line penalties there for. Gus Bradley defense right now that doesn't help as Arizona's putting together pretty good opening drive, and they're mixing it up. Pretty good right now. And this offense has the fewest number of red zone drives in the entire National Football League. But so far they have been on time and on target Rosen in the shotgun. Johnson. To his right. Chase Edmunds to his right Edmonds gets the football and his brought down beyond the line of scrimmage game about a half yard on the play play on second. Short. Would you like to see them? Try and take a shot the end zone there or do you like the conservative play calling environ- leverage? Well, I think right now they figure they've got downs to gain this first down. So they took a shot with the rookie out of Ford. Chase edmunds. Now, you got another. They'd probably have to doubts here. We're probably four down territory. Wait the gardens are trying to get a wig her to his left Rosen under center, Larry FitzGerald, his right could showdown motions through David Johnson behind Rosen tight formation the hand Johnson up the middle. And he's going to get the first down a gain of two, but they only needed about a yard. As the chargers rip the ball away and started running down the field. But it looks like the play is going to be ruled dead Brown has the ball hands. He's the inside linebacker for the charges. He's gonna finish the play. Did you hear whistle? He heard a lot of whistles. But I can't tell which ones are coming from bologna in the stands of which ones are coming from. We mentioned Alex Kemp called it. A first down on the cardinals quickly lineup blind. The scrimmage in. The chargers are not set. In fact, you'll die still had the football in his hand. At the chargers are trying to get a review they're trying to get it. Refilled rivers is petitioning for review. They're all looking up at the big screen here. And all of the chargers collectively are saying throw the review throw the review is Josh Rosen. Quickly gets his team to line of scrimmage. Larry fitzgerald. Stacked up with Christian Kirk. Josh Rosen under center, maybe Johnson behind him hike formation offense, lined up a fake to Johnson. He looks. It's fitzgerald. Over the middle. Touchdown cardinals. "And the ball knock free Miller. Hasn't he tries to scoop it up? He does Miller has it. And he's tackled inside the fifteen yard line of the cardinals second strip sack of the game for von Miller. Chase Edmunds with the tackle. And the Broncos have I down and ten from the air. Asana twelve Dave Logan and a call one eight fifty KOA. Denver score Broncos forty five cardinals ten. Yikes. That was not even the worst part of it. Josh rosen. The cardinals rookie quarterback got injured at the end of this game. Because some God forsaken reason the future your franchise was still out there when you were down forty two to ten. And they were still throwing the football. And he'll not that. You can't have your rookie quarterback out there. Yeah. You got take the punishment. Even though he was sacked six times. It seemed like was about sixty. But why would you not give protection to your right tackle or your left tackle with von Miller coming off the corner, they let their quarterback out there to literally be buried into the ground because they gave no help that our offense tackles the books. I know your rookie coach you're learning on the fly. But Josh Rosen is more important than its franchise have been you are. And you gotta make sure where that is going to happen for you. Would you got to protect that guy? If he can't protect himself if you got an offensive line of camp attacked them. But you need to put somebody else in there. Because Josh Rosen. "But in the interim, Thomas is back, I would think he'll be out there Sunday against the Denver Broncos and this is a team that's been in transition, I think could surprise some people this year. I think it'd be better than people realize. All right. Schefter the season is here opened up notebook, what storyline so you have for me. We'll agree. This is all about the return of injured. Players right now? Right. We've got the Shawn Watson coming back in Houston, and we saw what he did to the patriots last year, lit them up in Foxborough as the chance to do that again on Sunday, three hundred eleven days since he toward that SEAL against Seattle, then the following week in practice. He says he feels great and the colts are excited to have him back at this point in time as they get ready for the Bengals on Sunday. And of course you have the issue with David Johnson also back from a wrist injury last year when he hurt the cartels disappointed, fantasy football owners around the country who lost on the first day of that season last year heard it in the opener one year ago and they've got David Johnson back, but greedy, one of the guy to watch Zona chase Edmunds backing up David Johnson, fourth round, pick, they really. "In terms of rookie production, you know, I'm not sure that his ceiling real real big or real real high, but I think that he will end up being one of the more productive rookies just based on opportunity because they don't have a whole lot there. And then long term I think is upside is is really, really strong. Again in that Cooper Cup Nelson galore spectrum, and you know when Larry FitzGerald retires, I think that he's gonna be. He should end up being a very productive slot receiver, and this should give them a chance to grow with Josh Rosen, kinda like Jared, Goff and Cooper Cup. I think, grew together in their first season. You saw it in the preseason, even with Cooper Cup and Jared Goff. I think that we might see a little bit of that with Josh Rosen and Christian Kirk. This preseason. We also talked last week. I think about Ricky seals Jones after he had his off the field issue. So we talked about the tight end position a little bit there in Arizona. I guess my question at running back, Evan is if there's any place in deeper drafts in your mind for chase Edmunds the fourth round pick for the years on a cardinals out of Fordham, obviously, day of David Johnson chase actually grew up Evan, like less than five minutes from my house here and had an unbelievable college career. I mean his last year I think he got hurt was actually his worst, but he was like, I team American, I think is a freshman. It was crazy. Yeah, leads the patriot league in all time yards from scrimmage. I remember Josh Norris our resident draft analyst who you've had on the show a bunch of times talking about chase Edmunds loves them. Compared to even a Matt forte. I thought he reminded me a little devante Freeman, I love chase Edmunds. I actually didn't have many draft picks in one of my dynasty rookie drafts because I had traded him all the way for veterans trade back into the draft to go get chase Edmunds in the third or fourth round was very happy with it. He's I doubt he's going to be a redraft factor. Of course, barring an injury, David Johnson. But you know, David Johnson's in a contract year, and I mean, I would bet on the cardinals locking him up, but you know, things can go wrong there. Players can get hurt that's running back as one of the most injury propellants positions in all of sports. Maybe the single most injury Pence positions in all of sports, and that can lead to opportunities in the cardinals have pretty much already given chase Edmunds that number two running back position over TJ Logan. Over DJ foster. And I, I have like a little bit of excitement about him. You know, I'm a little bit biased because I really liked him coming out of college and because now he's on one of my dynasty teams that I that I like the most, but I, I really do like chase Edmunds and I'm, I'm excited about him being the number two running back behind a guy entering his contract here. One of the things I'm excited about you talk about it all the time, Evan, you know that we are trying to gather as much information as we can to make as informed decisions as we can. You know, nobody's perfect,.

"The job in the draft so far and yes we're into the sixth round of the two thousand eighteen nfl draft and we've got a bunch of seventh rounders gotta be picked as well so it's going to be a little bit before the full results are in however there's some teams to me that have stood out and done really well i want to give you a couple of those and then we're going right back to the phones with you at eight five five two one two four cbs so let's start with the arizona cardinals who i love love love what the arizona cardinals have done love what they've done they jumped up and grabbed josh rosen and while i'm not a big josh rosen guy i can also respect the fact that they moved up to go grab their guy the christian kirk wide receiver in the second round from texas ain't who i think has the ability to come in pretty much play right away mason coal the center for michigan again guy who's played a bunch of football over the course of his football life this guy was a captain he's bounced between center and left tackle to me he is a center in the nfl and then they got a guy and chase edmunds from fordham where i've called a couple of games with chase edmunds this year and he's he is a sneaky good little runner and i say it because he is five foot nine he's two hundred and five pounds and when you're an f c s level player who's a pro you're ahead of the game a little bit and to watch this guy up blockers use his blockers run with patients handle the football catch it out of.

"So if a team that missed out on cohen and then misses out on hines but still wants that scat guy that can get martez carter so i'm gonna give you a running back as well chase edmunds boredom not too far away from our new york city office is fordham so chase edmunds and other small running back five nine two hundred five pounds he did get a combine invite and con went under the radar because with running backs we look at the forty so often ran a four five five which is not what you want at that size three cone six seven nine twenty yard shuttle four point zero seven those were both in the top performers of the running backs group which is very important your change of direction your celebration chase edmunds is a guy that i think he's going to get drafted and i think he can really work himself down into a third down running back role in the future we both picked really small running backs so yeah those guys always go in the in the fifth to seventh round and then we're talking about them all preseason every single time did you have one on defense defense i feel like we talk so much about the guys but i guess one that i liked the hasn't that we haven't talked a ton about is trey matthews the safety from auburn like yup just to hit her and he was mean down mobile not in hon arrange but tough to really good strong safety and i put what am i put a sixthround grade on him so not like a super early guy by any stretch of the imagination but i think he could be a player definitely as long as we still have kickoffs in the nfl but he could play special teams another guy on the defensive side that you probably haven't heard a ton about would be fred warner from byu the linebacker he's got some good length at six three only ways around six thirty i have to check what he weighed into combine but that would probably be your defensive player where you're looking at all these linebackers and for somehow some reason he's become kind of buried in that group so.
