"Those notes. I'm a huge CJ Stroud fan. I got the opportunity to interview him last off season, but it almost seems. Think about how far we got into this show before we had a segment on CJ Stroud. And Dan actually just mentioned him earlier when talking about Bryce young CJ Stroud coming into the last season was talked about as possibly elevating himself to being the first overall pick of this draft. And when you watch him play the game, it looks like it's supposed to from the quarterback position and there were those questions about escapability and it's almost as if someone whispered in his ear before the college football playoffs. Hey, you're going to play Georgia. I want you to just run around a little bit and create some plays. So you can prove that people that you can. CJ Stroud can be a dude in this league. I do believe. It's about the right situation, but if he finds that he has the tools to be a very good NFL quarterback. It's like it's almost the complete contrast and I think you mentioned this before in relation to levis. You don't have a lot of clips where you sit and see guys getting open in good protection. So that's a little bit of a tough evaluation. And then with CJ, you often see pretty darn good protection and guys going open. And when that happens, he's as good as a guy that's really come out in three years in this draft. The question for teams is going to be when it does get muddy how good is he? You know, and that's the case for 99.9% of the quarterbacks that have ever played. And then Lewis. No, you were talking about it. That's why I kind of like Carolina for him. Chris CJ Stroud, if he makes it there. The last thing I'll say about CJ is this. Remember, he's always been chasing Bryce young too. Yeah. They're both from California. And I've been told, oh, he got a chip on his shoulder now. Oh yeah. Okay, it's not one of those things where he's going to be out there and just like vocalizing it, but it's there. And that's what makes him to me so damn intriguing. I saw that the week of covering them in the college football playoff against Georgia and one thing too to keep in mind that Georgia defense one of the best not as good as last seasons, but one of the best that we've seen in some time in college football. Yes. They did. They were eating people's faces off. And then CJ strong, somebody get your face on. Okay, let's get to it. Talk about the Panthers. The first order of business for new head coach Frank Reich will be the quarterback position over the last two seasons. The Panthers quarterbacks rank last in the NFL in QBR and touchdown to interception ratio. And the only quarterbacks they currently have in a contractor Matt corral and Jacob Eason, Dan Graziano, talk to Frank Reich here at the combine. Frank, I gotta ask you, you went from one team that had quarterback questions for years and now you go to Carolina and it's an unsettled situation. How do you look at your quarterback situation right now? Yeah, I mean, I think the experience of what I have in Indianapolis can serve me and us well for making a decision that we need to make to find the right quarterback. So take it one day at a time, process through all the options. You're one of the teams that is met with Derek Carr, who's a free agent here. How did that meeting go? And what do you think of him as a possibility as your answer? I thought it went great. I mean, I think he's a really good player, really good leader, really good person. I thought the meeting went well. You know, we are working through all the options, but excited about the time we have it there. Among the options, obviously, you're here at the combine. There are some of the guys at the top of the draft. I had much time to study the top draft quarterbacks and or meet with them and what have you been your impressions? Yeah, haven't had a chance to meet with most of them, and have started that studying process and not through all of them, but starting to knock out one at a time and maybe about halfway through some of those top guys. And I'm excited about this draft class. Excited about the guys that are out there. I think it's a big deal for the NFL. I think getting these good young players is going to be great for the league. All right, so you see Frank Reich in the building here with the Panthers brass and Louis, what should they do at quarterback? I think they have the real potential to set up a perfect scenario for a young quarterback. If they're able to get their car there, because look, Derek, you know, with tutor a guy and teach a guy how to be a professional a la and not like Smith and what he did for Patrick Mahomes down in Kansas City. But just think about this coaching staff too between Frank, Thomas Brown The O.C., Josh mccown, the quarterback coach. Derek Carr, if you have him there on the roster as a bridge guy, and then have a young guy come in here, a guy likes CJ Stroud if they were able to trade up and get him. Oh my goodness. Are you talking about a good situation? I would be sitting there right now. If I was Jeff tepper, I'd be like, I did it. Finally, exactly. We're going to leave it here because you got more to get to, but makes me think Anthony Richardson's another one that could be a candidate for them because he probably needs a young quarterback. If they could go into that kind of situation, I'd be sitting there going perfect. Let's do it. All right, coming up on NFL live. We've got a lot more cover your way. Dynamic tight ends results in wins, okay? Just ask the chiefs and stick around to see which tight end Mina believes has some Gronk like tendencies, baby Gronk, okay? We'll be right back. More NFL live from the combine coming your way. New on NFL live action from today in India, the combine with a big fella is the D lime and Adam Schefter per next gen stats. Pittsburgh's kaleida can't see ran an official four 6 7 second 40 yard dash. That's the fastest time recorded by a defensive tackle with the NFL combine since 2003 CC Lewis Riddick, our own pit guy here. It's faster than Aaron Donald blue. I mean, by like a 100th of a second. Yeah, you know, I mean, obviously 40 times or 40 times in Aaron Donald's a legend, right? He's going to go down to maybe one of the greatest football players ever. But collide has a lot of things working in his favor. We were just talking about this off camera. The way guys are able to improve from year to year now, given the kind of sports science that is at their disposal. This is just the tip of the iceberg for this young man. Remember when Aaron Donald came out of Pittsburgh, do you remember, if you put a picture of Aaron Donald when he came out of Pittsburgh versus Aaron Donald, now you go, that's not the same guy. And he was absolutely destroying people in college football then. So what collision right now is starting on that journey that he's starting on. It's real, real exciting because you have a comparable that went to the same school who did maybe something the same things at this point in his career. We love to see it. You were very professional about that pit moment there too, but as you always try. It wasn't even part of this and you somehow made it about him. All right, let's get to the tight end. Saturday. We're going to start working out here in Indy. Look at some of them coming in. For what the receiver class this year may lack in some people's eyes, the tight end class makes up for it. It's a deep and talented group. Now don't be sorry because that really would be that again.

"The Aggies also unable to run the football effectively yesterday, so that's a big issue. The Aggies have major questions coming out of this game. They get the victory. But impossible to say This is a contender anymore. Without Haynes cake, It's got to be all defense. And try to piece together. An offence. Yesterday was a tough watch and finally back to the E in Miami. Appalachian State was battling Miami and how about this kickoff return? For the APP. State Mountaineers kickoff coming back to the Mountaineers after a field goal is Jalen Virgil takes it one yard deep in the end zone and hasn't seemed on the right sideline. Only the kicker to be he gets by under the 30 Virgil Foot race to the 10 to the five That's an APP state touchdown. Jalen Virgil Shades of Statesboro into Semb er. He puts the Mountaineers right back in front for the first time. 13 12 as Virgil in the blink of an eye shows off the speed and scores on the kick return. Now is midway through the second quarter and at state took the lead. 14 12 That's Adam Whitten on Appalachian State Sports Network at the end of the game at ST Hits a touchdown From about three yards out Chase. Bryce throws it into the end zone to Malik Williams, and that gives upstate 23 22 lead with five to play. The EU needs a game winning drive and then 43 yard field goal to take the win with two minutes to play. But remember, Miami got absolutely demolish last week by Alabama, and then it needed a late field goal to beat at state at home. Hurricanes team that again. Wants to prop itself up and say We're back in Manny Diaz bringing back the program. We're going to compete for the championship. We want to get to a championship game is said to very questionable outings. To begin this football season. Nice fight shown by upstate our number one is in the books when we come back here on the show a lot to get to our number two. College Football Bets: Week 1
"On. Espn dot com chuck section. I've given them out daily wager. But you know we'll rip through a few here i want to start with. Ecu this numbers come down a little bit. They play thursday night against appalachian state and look. I think he's us live dog. Jay vermont talked about it as well. They have a bunch of veterans including senior quarterback and app. State's been a little shaky as well. And they have a new quarterback and chase. Bryce you might remember him. He played a key. Clemson then transferred to duke ten and a half a lot of points for team that always seems to pull games out of the hat and have crazy place at the end. I like myself getting double digits plus ten right now but still i would out jumping on on ec as long as you get double digits and maybe a little sprinkle on the money line. That could be some fun The came by actually liked the most Kinda scared about it and it's umass and everybody who listen to pod on a somewhat regular basis knows. I'm kind of the betting bully as humans. A frequent guest. Your calls me. I like to bet on bet against bad teams. Just just do it right. Like orioles season win total under. I've certainly bet against umass in the past but thirty eight is just way too many points. And i'll tell you why won't bell and umass went out and got a bunch of transfers. Their quarterback is a six foot five inch from from colorado like the university of and or colorado university of boulder. And they have two running backs that transferred in one from rutgers. So a team that was like. Fcs not too long ago or fcs quality has some real players and you only have to get thirty eight now pits good. But they're at tennessee. The following week nerd uzis not a guy who's going to run up the score. He's old school. Fourth quarter they'll bring in the is a little bit and on top of that. Probably the best handy angle. I have is the offense coordinator for pit is a guy named mark whipple. He's coached umass twice head coach. Also the most recent time was just a few years ago. This is not situation where he wants to embarrass his former program. Umass is a special place in his heart. Whipple's going to call off the dogs as well. So i just think if you can get about two touchdowns even if it's garbage time i think plus thirty eight is the play in. That game is crazy. As it sounds another game. I like is essentially a coin. Flip game and it syracuse minus one. And a half. you might remember. I've talked about it with jay motto. The over three in the win total. They're going to split time at quarterback. Babies made that announcement. I don't love it. I would prefer. Tommy devito to be the entire time but dual threat with michigan state. Sorry mississippi state transfer garrett schrader. They're just better at a lot of positions that ohio but most importantly syracuse addressed. Their offense align issues. There was a pathetic. Offense couldn't even average average about two hundred fifty yards per game. Not passing just total yards per game. The veto would be injured. A lot spent a lot of time on his back. If they're okay on the offensive line this is just a syracuse team. That's just better. No more frank. Solich at ohio. Bob cats will rotate. Quarterbacks curtis rourke. Who's obviously the brother of nathan rourke the former stud bob cats quarterback and then armani rogers transfer from unlv. Ohio's very good. They looked good last year against the too bad teams really bad teams in the mac akron bowling green. But i think use gets there which is better talent especially with vito healthy and maybe we hope and improved offensive line. Fourth play i want to talk about
College football power rankings: Can anyone challenge Alabama Crimson Tide?
"Which looks like the only real competitor to a college football playoff berth for the Alabama crimson tide well, and what a huge credit to Jalen hurts. I mean, we were talking about this off air the this is the stark contrast Jalen hurts choosing to stay with Alabama and now potentially coming in and being that guy that bridges the gap to the college football, playoff, Alabama. The exact opposite happens for Clemson. When when Trevor Lawrence goes down and Bryce Bryce petty, Bryce not not a placement, right? Chase Bryce. Yeah. Yeah, he played chased by. You sounds like he's getting ready to put out a great album in Nashville next, right? You look at what you know, it's a no question. Yeah, you put Jalen hurts in that game. Tennessee, and it's still a dominant win for Alabama. It's not even get by, but if Jalen hurts would have gone away from an and transferred out of Alabama. I don't even know who the third string quarterback is. I'm sure he's a five star probably. But the reality is it puts them much more in the driver seat to let to come back strong that following week getting knocked down the football field makes you tough. But getting back up makes you tougher at Goodyear. We call that determination a willingness to put in more hours more reps and more of heart to reach a bar that's sky high because the Goodyear blimp doesn't show up for just anybody. So don't be just anybody would be blimp worthy. Good. Hear more driven.
