"Right we are back. And we are talking about the bill and ted trilogy and i can't believe we went through this entire thing without know going super in depth into the cartoons in the live action tv series year. I mean this is. This is the logical final. Step in this podcast. Right is to talk about all the failed ideas. Shit that never took before that. I did want since we're talking about the series as a whole We didn't really talk about the creation of the characters. Which i think is something. That's really fascinating as well. And i'm sure chris matheson's interview we'll get into that but just the fact that it started. Just i'm doing like a stage. Duo talking about current events and getting everything wrong and and it was very much an improvised thing and when they wrote the script they wrote it out just by hand and they didn't attribute lines to either character they basically wrote them as one character. And i think that's kind of the brilliant thread that works there all three movies. That anything they say can be attributed to either character and work that they are one singular unit of lovable stupidity. That's that's for the posters right. There singular unit of stupid lovable stupidity levels. What's weird about bill and ted right because again unless you dug deep into it like mike mentioned with going into the weirder era at halloween horror nights which is what universal florida and hollywood due in october. They put on halloween horror nights which is where they convert the theme park into a essentially a giant haunted house and they do a halloween themed stage shows and the one of the mainstays. Since i don't even remember when it started whenever probably in the early nineties they had bill. And ted's excellent halloween adventure show which was a stage show featuring the two characters and they would make jokes about current events and current things going on in the world and that ran from the early nineties until two thousand seventeen and was one of the most popular shows at halloween horror nights and people were all up in arms when it got cancelled. And it's kind of weird to me. How much weird. Ephemera is connected to. Bill and ted that so many people have no idea about. It was a marketing overdrive of series. Pretty much right until bogus journey and after that it sort of dropped off because like i said i grew up with the cartoons and the serial that video games. Any s game is incorrigible. There's a pc game that i cannot wrap my head around but you can apparently be the any s game is awful. The game is hilarious. My favorite thing about the game as you can look video on youtube. It can be finished in fifteen minutes. It's it's barely game but that's from capstone. That was a company that literally like eljay on on the they would buy the rights to anything they could get their hands on the make a crappy point and click adventure game out of it. And they made a wayne's world game that was miserable they need one based on the dark. Half where i swear to god the solutions to hiding evidence that you may have killed. Somebody you. You have to put it in your mailbox or your own closet. That's that's the last place you should murderer evidence so it was a bad company but yeah there was but the one thing that stood out to me was that i tried. I got about a third of the way through the episodes. I watched some of the live action tv series. Did you guys see any of that. I ve seen it. Only because of you know bill and ted ya. I let morbid curiosity get the better of me. They had you know couple of guys. I didn't know playing villains. Had rick playing rufus who didn't do too bad You know you get a comedian. I guess you can't measure up to george carlin tried but i only got about three episodes in and then i just got really uncomfortable because i swear to god the third episode is about how some like fancy tv. Dr soap opera character guy decides that he wants to have a gender reassignment in the whole episode is about bill and ted convincing this person that he's fine as a man doesn't need to do it at. It was the most uncomfortable thing. I have ever seen that thirty years ago. Nobody would have thought twice about. I haven't watched the cartoon or the tv series. But i remember they seem to have started it correctly so like eighty nine bill. And ted's excellent adventure live. Action comes out. Ninety bill and ted's excellent adventures animated series comes out and winters raves. In carlin are all back but then ninety one is win. Bogus journey comes out and ninety one is when the second season of excellent adventures. The cartoon switch to these guys that you guys are talking about. And then they those actors evan richards. Christopher kennedy and rick overton they end up warping into the live action. Bill and ted's excellent adventures which happens in ninety two. I don't know why you would go. It seems like the complete wrong trajectory to go from an animated series to a live action series. Especially when you're dealing with time travel and stuff it's like why would you ever. I mean you can do so much more animation especially when it comes to time travel stuff and having different people from history and not having to invest thousand dollars in powdered wakes it seems rather counterintuitive does and the cartoon is is odd because correct me. If i'm wrong. Josh from what. I've watched the cartoon several episodes. It's essentially carmen sandiego like it's very like edge. You tain -ment yes. I remember feeling very educate things. Why didn't watch young. Indiana jones was just like. Oh yeah now. He's going to meet this person from history. It's like okay. Did indian meet every single person from history in the short time that he was alive. Give me something like what was it. The the the wanderers or whatever. It was Oh shit i can't remember. There was a really good time. Travel show when i was a kid and it wasn't sliders. It was something even before that you're talking about sliders with john. Restating was there was a guy named barnabus or something and he had a watch. Work travel through time and then this kid ends up joining him and it was great in the again. They met a lot of historical figures. But it was like okay. Yeah we have these shows all the time but it seems like bill intention of succeeded more than two seasons of cartoon one season as a live action. Show not only a cartoon but a cartoon that half like you mentioned halfway through. Its run. went from a hanna. Barbera cartoon to a dic cartoon. Which if any of us remember. Watching dic cartoons. They were very educational compared to hanna barbara. Hanna barbera was if there's one thing hanna-barbera was not it was educational nor expensive watching the first season of the cartoon versus the second season. The first season is much better than the second. And that's only because it has keanu and alex and george carlin. Yeah george carlin entertaining children years before he became mr conductor up shining time station. Examine you gotta pay your taxes. Somehow you gotta make money. I mean you know. It's all coming from that bill. And ted's excellent cereal. That's what it is. What i was trying to think of was a show called voyagers and chris. You'll be happy to know this. It only lasted one season. I wanted to walk back. My charlie schlatter from earlier like josh did with his comment. It wasn't it wasn't bill. And ted that charlie schlatter replaced someone famous in charlie schlatter replaced matthew broderick in the ill-fated ferris bueller tv also mike mike z. Show that existed for. Yeah another tv show that existed for ostensibly reason which is not to be confused with. Parker lewis can't lose another tv. Show that i. Mike doesn't like that has a bill. And ted connection is tales from the crypt which features william sadler In several episodes of the show but in the episode the assassin which we covered on the widely acclaimed chronicles..

william sadler chris matheson Christopher kennedy george carlin alex keanu evan richards charlie schlatter josh fifteen minutes two characters first season youtube twice second rick rick overton Josh second season one season

"Where he asked his dad on the phone about bonds his father purchase when he was born then takes one of them from a shoebox and his father's closet caches it at the bank with his girlfriend. Telling the hard of hearing Taylor Taylor. They're pregnant with a jeep. Then uses the money to pay for his day off. It was removed because it made him seem like a thief. Probably does make sense though. Because in the bathroom scene at Chez Lui. He's got like quite a a not going. Yeah yeah those. He's pretty cheap with the parking attendant. Even in one thousand nine hundred five of five dollars to watch the car for a while is still. You're undercutting their the Fair says a line in the movie that was used in the trailer to where he said come next job. I kid to ride in the space shuttle then the challenger exploded. They had to remove all spatial stuff. Stuff out manny braddock. Jennifer Gray got engaged for the movie was released. Kept the kind of quiet and then the accident happened. Everybody found out. Did you know that? Ferris's parents were married in real life. Not Today not reading about it I I read about a two. Would they got married after the movie? Yeah Yeah and they got married had two children and got divorced. Cindy Pickett and lemon word. Alan Ruck was doing Broderick's impersonation at the Black Sea Brew Blues Director. That they had when he was doing. George Petersen and was doing it To try to make broddrick laugh and crack up during the scene. So it's a little like Wayne's world when they're doing Lawrence Michael's impersonation as docked as Are Not Wayne's world Austin powers when he turns Dr Evil Into Or macos mentioned how Broddrick hurt. His knee. Couldn't do a lot of the twist and shout choreography. Thank God because that would have been longer Nothing that was also the the the the choreography was done by Kenny Ortega. Who did yeah dirty dancing but then also like high school musical and tons of other stuff. Yeah Ben Stein. Did his lecture off camera in the student extras were laughing so hard that they decided to actually just keep in the new economic settles. Saint that was supposed to be in the script. There was a lot of talk about a fair sequel. And I remember being excited about it at various points in my life and broaddrick was pretty steadfast film didn't need a sequel Didn't need to be updated and then John Who's died and it became a moot point but we can go into the sequel part later. The fair sewer show one thousand nine hundred. Nbc can remember who started his first Bueller. Charlie schlatter Jennifer Aniston is genie. Yeah I will then also do you guys prefer the Fares Bueller TV adaptation or Parker. Lewis can't lose which is essentially just ferris bueller definitely parked at Lewis. Can't lose yeah I watched that religiously the bus scene that plays in the ending credits was actually supposed to be in the movie and they cut it in. Hughes delighted so third on the end. But that's why it doesn't really make sense at six o'clock it's getting dark. Why why is the whole school bus of kids coming home from school at Safeway dot three and the whole thing? So that's why it's a good a good point very good nitpick that. Why are there that many kids on a bus at six o'clock the John? Here's just like fuck it. I'm putting it in three cars used in this movie. Hughes had originally for the Ferrari. He's originally planned for it to be a Mercedes. Came across a replica of a sixty one. Gt in a magazine and these replicas. They're only fifty six of those cars ever made. As I mentioned the last one Went for Eighteen. Point five in two thousand fifteen and then seventeen million. Another one went in two thousand sixteen so this company called Medina design. They made the rep because they put the FRY badges on their. Did this a lot for our ended up suing them and they went bankrupt. Because this movie. So how more blood on On on Cameron Sense. He bankrupted this company. Now there's terrible thing he did cape leave. You turned on cameron. This is terrible. I didn't turn on him. I just thought it was Kinda fucked up. That ruined the car little bit fucked up but he did it or ruin the car bills. Get a remake this movie as Cameron's Dad's Day off tape now. There's no day off. He doesn't have a car ape Apex Mountain Sarah..

"Here with us today. The day after the Oscars we're GONNA be talking about the Oscars the Oscars broadcast the winners the losers losers. Not Not. There's a winner. Hollywood air is thick with the aroma of so chew. Given the way Greenwald today I wish people could see you'd think he was morning. Nineteen seventeen not not what it's more than I've just been like an duck blind date. We became like what have we really super morbid about nine hundred seventeen winning. It's great for parasite but when are we going to properly venerate England's greatest generation in film So we're GONNA talk a little bit about the Oscars or a lot about the Oscars and then we'll talk about last night's episode of the outsider. What's called the? was that the one about yiddish cheers. Yiddish vampire I believe the tier drinker was a couple of weeks. AGO is literally the one about the vampire are thing about. Is that a friend's joke. Rich Guy Ritchie price. Not Known for the LULLS. You know what I mean. Yeah but he's sneaking in some some funny Shit Richard Price's work. Yeah but that's not what he's that's not what he's known for So I think he's sneaking seeking some of his best work into the episode titles he did a Little Korea work on caddyshack. Now show you know that caddyshack to remember there was a caddyshack too. I do at some point. Jonathan Silverman was in that at some point Jonathan Silver Medal. I was GONNA say it's important I think I'd like I thought caddyshack to was caddyshack. Because when you're young you don't know yeah and they just show caddyshack too. You're like Oh this is like. Is there zero. First caddyshack that I kept up for Mannequin to. Yeah Continuing Chuck Taylor. That's that's another Silverman Banger. I'm just saying it might be an Silverman and McCarthy were together and weekend at Bernie's right because so you're saying Silverman was always slipped in later. You Know Charlie schlatter fits into this too. Yeah because he's the second for Ferris Bueller right bears Taylor right. Wow this is good stuff. This is the best podcast of nineteen ninety one. Actually I feel like we've always been the best have. Let's talk like a little bit about the two thousand Twenty Oscars. Obviously the big picture went. Live last night you guys can check that out. They got into it. I haven't listened to that yet but I hope half of that podcast odd cast. Is Sean just luxuriating. In the fact that the Oscars finally took his note and had people introducing people to introduce other people and then in the middle of it. They were like you know people love most about movies songs. I WanNa talk about that but great. They did a great job breaking down. Just how how historic last night was a lot of different reasons and then ringer dish also did the kind of more of the pop culture gossip the red carpet looks to the so you know the funny connections between celebrities and Air Sea. She'd listen to bring addition big picture. But you can also listen to the watch because you're listening to it already if you've gotten this far let's talk about the broadcast a little bit before we get into say and everything else what for para say and what a huge night for music. Finally Use Music's biggest night a so. I was watching it last night and I just I just Kinda like cool obviously opening with the music number. That's not sure not that weird and then I think what midway through I realized that the they were doing a full presentation performance of each each best song nominee which they which is. We're not doing the usual. Someone walks out and says two men running across war-torn Belgium Belgium or France before versus for yes and Evanston. No it's ninety seventeen and it's right you do introduction and then they show a montage from the best picture films. They did not do that. No they. Didn't celebrate the best pictures of the year throughout the the biggest state movies yet. They celebrated John and Randy Newman and Adina Menzel and Gracie mets. And all of. It wasn't nominated for anything and was like a make good on something that what happened in two thousand and two or three. There were a lot of choices like that. You know I do think in shoutouts to our fearless leader. Bill Simmons here I do think the Oscars or the academy deserve common sense because they always try to mess with things that are working just fine like announcing the nominees and showing a short clip of their work before giving them the trophy. Yes and this year's innovation was we're going to edit and they were very well edited. I thought quite cleverly edited a montage of all. The performance is flowing into each other. Some sort of visual cinematic okay. Kind of dialogue going on in those and then they come out of it and then they're like the nominees are it's like we know that is an extra four five minutes every every time that you could. Maybe the thinking was. We don't need to show montages or clips from the movies because we're showing them in the actor things but he also did a montage of just just cool songs in movies from across the decade. That's the stuff that I always rail against but Sean is all the way out there on the hill but he has chosen to die on which may be the same hill called mountain. I love montages. He loves montages about things in movies. Do Yeah that's nonsense other nater. We spending doing that though. What other are we? Spending watching. People give trophies actors like it's the Oscars anyway let let's take it one step back so yes the opening I love First of all I love her. Second Great Performance Great Energy a lot of fun third great great great great. Pr For as Male Corp Considering Gentleman starring in season two of homecoming. That's great look for them. But I just WanNa throw something out here. When the dancing jokers came out? Yeah I was like Jonas era face are we. We sure about this because there is a lot of people on stage there are a lot of characters or or dancers representing movies that were not at all represented has ended in the nominees. Yes which I kind of can get dancing. Pope's for the two popes. They didn't because that movie was represented had dolemite's that's right they had midsummer's they had us you know From the movie us it wasn't donated. I my goal today is it gets you way out on a pier talking about stuff. You haven't seen Oh I'm so golden today you have no idea. is you confident I as you think now all you have to do is watch watched one movie a year I nailed it. I took a look at the great buffet of discourse and culture. And I was like no. Oh I know what I want that parasite that's all I want. I Want Ramadan when a big bowl and I just slurped it all up. Yeah I was full. I never watch any other movies from twenty nineteen seriously not going to watch any of those other movies ever. I'll watch a little women that's it. You Watch once upon a time in Hollywood. You're not going to see finish as Steve. Martin said Season One or Chris Rock's season one of Irishmen. Probably get back to it. Yeah I do want to see this one movie. You watched one fucking everything. Yeah which is maddening. Last night was my greatest. So it any. We're talking about music montage. It was just like. Are we sure because I think the thing that has been pursuing the The to the Oscars white whale doing this analogy backwards. This is rob lowe singing and dancing with snow. White in the opening of the nineteen eighty seven Oscars right so anything that is remotely like that. I'm like you just gotTa Watch that right. So dancing jokers was was on the Snow White scale that was close. And then you know in other people pointed this out. Steve Martin and Chris Rock or delightful. They were funny Enjoyed their presence. I enjoyed their amiable loose hand on the steering wheel. But you know what they were hosting. Yeah so you didn't need both. Yeah it's just bizarre this non hosting thing like maybe maybe this was an example of the academy being like you say that they're always not worth it so here you go okay. We've learned our lesson. Give us a host bring a host back. So you're pro host one hundred million percent provost I I. I'm watching this again. As a non SINOPHILE I. I am watching this partially as broadcast experienced and has a show and I liked to know that someone so I'm curious when guys George MCI show up. Yeah and they're like I'm George George Takei at. I'm here to introduce the next person who's going to present a word. I had no idea that was first of all. He looked precarious in the balcony. Yes I thought he was going to tumble backwards. Yeah you ever get that feeling when you go to like against like city field or dodger stadium and you're like I could fall into Peterson's arms right now to the Barclay Center. Because they started started building these things they wanted a smaller footprint and they go straight out and they go straight up and we went. I think with With Sean Fantasy I think to to a nets game I remember his net sixers. There's a couple of years ago and I experienced deep vertigo. Yeah it is very so completely darkened Barclay Center. Yeah it's really weird. They do theater lightings lightings. You're just like I'm in. I am in the dark very high up above Spencer dinwiddie. And it's or. It's a Caucasian chalk. Circle being perform it is unclear a similar experience anyway Me Redraw my own Caucasian chalk circle to discuss the Oscars. Yeah so there's a dude in the balcony or have I've never heard of and I thought maybe he was like an access Hollywood host. Yes or the bachelor. Yes Yeah No. He's in nineteen seventeen great. Yeah but then. I figured that out because I realized allies that he was a blandly handsome British guy. I've never seen before. So I assume that he was running out of the trenches sending you put on his costume from that movie. Today came to work as a tribute to my new. You favorite actor on the way here actually to get to the studio in time. I tossed my keys to Timothy Charlemagne so he could park my car. What a windbreaker? The guy that was choice so yeah I'm pro host. I'm one hundred percent pro host and it was. It was strange to bring out to people who have hosted before four and could have done it again to give us the good host vibes as opposed to making an argument of why we don't need one which which fell apart. But here's my case hosts know. Okay Yeah if you want a hyper efficient Oscars which they do anyway but if you wanted to imagine an Oscars that came in at two and a half hours or two hours even right Don't have a host. Just get right into the awards. Do It 'cause there was a point last night when they were really burning through those first few inter categories. And you're like this is great. This is I feel really moving. And then obviously slows down on a lot and I don't mind it slowing down for Crafts and below the line awards hand for doc shore an animated short and those are always actually some of my favorite moments. Yes as you never know and not only. Do you get to see people who are actually making these movies. Get Award but it really shows the sense of community that exists both out in Los Angeles but in the wide world of the film community in the thing I object to is bending over backwards for the sixth shot of Billy Irish and then and a three person introduction to get to Eminem. And you're just like why are we. Why are we doing loose yourself in two thousand and twenty this is just obscene? Kind of us. OAT befell tune being like. Here's my hero. TV's mindy failing bizarre.

"Something. That was calm well. I feel like slash comedy gentleman than he used to be. I think he needs a better name. Never see slash without the <hes> a pork pie hat. Unfortunately yes <music> any who you know. Five years ago i would have done a rosie perez impression there but then i just thought about the headache when the cost of that incident in the catskill unskilled yeah i still do a good rosie o'donnell but not rosie perez can be some other topic christian. It's off the off the o- i've got an moved around on the topic seven in your company topics. Do you have today. Oh i don't know like thirty yourselves very our pace. Let's do an aerobic workout. We've done a couple. Let's do some quick kidder's here and then we'll slow back. It's like bitches brew well. There's some discordance stuff here. Let's hit some fast paced here. <hes> there are seven democrats democrats who were running for president that did not get a single supporter in a new hampshire poll. Who only that's a great question. <hes> <hes> this story and let me guess let us the seven i would say the castro cat doesn't get seven and he's gonna find out who didn't vote for him at printer addresses says it's like it's like those old movies where they say. We've seen your kids at school. You know those mafia movies they yeah it's starting into that that stuff <hes> i would say castro doesn't have a vote i would say <hes> cloture doesn't vote or we'll fuck. Her name is club aqa our <hes>. That's actually not how you say. It just thought it was funny to pronounce it the way i <hes> i would say that <hes> bob couple that bald augie from montana doesn't have a vote a couple of other guys who have hair but might as well bald guy. They don't have the votes that i i will tell you it's only one person who's been in the debates but it's a sort of an obvious one somebody who is <hes> not very popular no bill blasio he had no supporters and then it's a lot of it's like jay inslee and wayne mess him and seth moulton so it's it's not the crowd that you actually know as well <hes> and at you listen i am marion. Williamson probably doesn't have much and the blasio probably doesn't have much. I would say the only difference there is williamson's actually touchy feely and and if you get touchy feely from the blasio he's taking your wallet so that would be if he gets touchy feely always that <hes> he's a sort of guy who aspects you on the sole shoulder to divert from the fact that he's whisked your wallet out of your back pocket also it's time to disengage from most of those people right. I think you just twenty four. I think they have to get down to in most ten so you know because because let's face facts there's only so many seatbelts on a clown car and <hes> to go forward <hes> they'll go with the kamala harris although she he suffered a i think tulsi gabbard put a big bolo punch him. I say that somebody behind the scenes as saying <hes>. I don't know who that would be. You know all these <hes> the sixers on the democratic side i would say they're saying keep gabbard in <hes> only because she takes a couple fox's for us. She's in the service shouldn't attractive and <hes> female insane and let's keep her in for a while. I i think gillibrand got to go. You know it's like edgar. Winter's corpse was transitioning. I don't know what the hell she's about floating around up there and <hes> you know they're gonna keep kamala harris joe biden oh yeah <hes> bernie sanders yep and and <hes> i think they'll have to keep booker because at this point who obviously play the race card on now you know listen he plays the race card like <hes> ricky jay a flip jacket diamonds qasaba mellon so they gotta keep listen. They've created a bit of a monster over there and they really up to sit down and think about who do we. We get out of here and if somebody says well we'll just go by the numbers or meritocracy or who's getting what can't do it anymore. <hes> there has to be a mix the whole world's turned into a benetton ad and you're in charge of checking the boxes so there you go <hes> i think they'll get try to get that date. It's like the oscars on. There wasn't a a film in the first five. Check check boxes. They had to expand it to eight at least <hes> i've heard towels. <hes> somebody you know say eight candidates but but i think the probably got the ten because it'll be a couple of cusp cases who caused problems so there you go. That's <hes> listen. You can't say this was an offer told in the last last election. I remember states every night that slump sanders would win on account and then they'd say but with super delegates his hillary and democrats. You're fine with that yeah. That's their system now. I don't know what the fuck you're thinking over there. I come on wake up. I can see you hating trump. That's your business. Yes but i don't run untidy shop so i i don't know who they've picked to be. I think they'd love to go with biden but i don't think biden's going allow them. I think he's i think he's going to run down. I think it's gonna be rainy day at westworld and he'll be shattered bought in his ass off one night and they'll have to lead them off in a fucking gurney. You guys three days away from a you know a bib so he's out <hes> probably sanders because because <hes> as poor faces she puts on socialism <hes> christ she might as well be you know audrey hepburn in in roman holiday compared to bernie sanders as far as putting a face on socialism so sanders. I guess harris. I'd see the two of them together. Who's more in line. I'd say san what is her name. <hes> warren yeah i'd say it'll be warren the harrison the two slot though run under the two angle thing the <hes> biracial one indian black and <hes> you know they'll have a lot of boxes checked so that that's who i predict will run unless of course you know biden goes to lugano switzerland and gets you know go now shot into his haunch or something and livens up but it's going to be have to be one of those blood draws that keith richards uses because biden looks crazy to me and <hes> and that's before he starts speaking yeah. Listen the here's the problem with biden has made if you're going to squint don't try to look like dirty harry time answer question and you've gone in and depot talk every wrinkle out of your head it. It just looks like jim carey's burn victims. Ayaan living color should've left some if you're going to furrow your brow brother at it cannot be <hes> you know like a like a smooth polished stone so he's he's missed it in many ways but i think they'd like him to be president because they think he might beat beat <hes> trump but like i said you have to you have to imagine for joe biden. When you look at joe biden. What does he know seventy five <hes> he might even be older. I think when he if he were to become president i think he'd be sworn in at seventy eight. That's what i think i looked up. Yeah all right so when you talk about four years to a seventy eight eight year old when the when the literally you're being sworn in when you're past the actuary tables on average life expectancy for an american male thanks right around seventy eight so you're being sworn in on on your past due date yogurt inocencio play. That's gone off plane. Play obviously new orleans for years. Then when you're seventy eight becomes one seven one nine t let's say one twentieth of your life. You've gotta live another one twentieth of your life to complete your first term yeah and that that doesn't even augur for a second. I just don't think the mathworks listen. He drummed himself out of the core for a guy. You know well who he probably had a chance eight. I guess it was but he got caught cheating and he's braggadocio and you know nasty guy in the <hes> <hes> supreme court hearings. I think he ran again somewhere but he never really had a chance but <hes> now they might vote for him because he's he's the least <hes> innocuous. He's the most innocuous chair he's defending. This is an old cat i. I don't think you'll make it through the end but as i said nobody <hes> i think they're onto biden biden as related before i believe speaks in in braggadocio in cyclical like the pope if he shot investments in <hes> you know he always acts like he's tough and sometimes sometimes he leans into things that they're times that joe biden's hallucinations are so precise. I'm not even sure he existed. Ah there are times. I think i'm seeing what he imagined. Somebody named joe biden would be so precise. Felicitations are so i don't think he has a chance and as i said time to get him in back into the back seat of the sonic commercial become your go-to guy on the thoughts the guys up front can pitch this slurpy dogs and the burgers and then <hes> biden just comes in at the end with that theme of his right front but the cusp it and and i loved a touch too crazy shaw save it for me. Tots are the most important part of an order from sonic so i would trust then you can start one the play it backwards if you want but <hes> t._v. Show it and run back. I think biden padilla a and b. snack dot bing crazy charge. <hes> someone who apparently is is aware of the polling <hes> and the way he got out of the race as why interested in this story <hes> mike gravel dropped out of the twenty twenty race and in doing so me even who are these. That's a former senate has real short guy who invented the dating the millionaire show oh a little guy fawkes day micra ville invents. All these game shows like you wanna get married four seconds after you up or i i remember that show but but i'm not sure if i know who you're amid guy noel missing there is <hes> <hes> what is the check my i. I get a refresh up every day and what you can call tiny person. Yes there is i've often said. Would you rather just not hit midget or dwarf and move on on ships that go bump. Do you really wanna stop down in the street and have somebody inquires dude tiny person status. What the fuck what what what what are we had middle earth. I'm a fun person. I'm spades shut next week. I might work that angle with him. I think that's a great idea. I'm going to say i remember going to jerry's of you and charlie schlatter and schneider right. I i felt like gulliver ordering brisket or sony you fuckers stolen the toothpicks or the cellophane on the end of it or pricking them into my legs to make me drop the sandwich in getting out of the race. Mike gravel made sure we all knew he never wanted to be president anyway so <hes> i i liked the story.

And I love the fact that that has the distinction of being the first Hollywood movie that was shot in Chicago. That's really that's really fun. "Between the past. Leads or someone out of the pass. Antoon take of living. We may be through with the path, but the past is not through with us. Welcome to the next picture show movie the week podcast to a classic film out shape. Our thoughts on a recent release. I'm Scott to bias here with tash Robinson Genevieve Caskey and Keith ups every week. We get together to talk over classic film and consider how it relates to occur in movie today were flashing back to those awkward early days of boyhood adolescence when you're not a kid anymore. But you're not in high school yet either. And you cannot fathom the mysteries of adulthood, Keith. I can say without hesitation those were the worst years of my life. How were they for you? Let me think about thirteen fourteen probably win. I got deep into the work of Isaac Asimov and played a lot of computer role playing games on my apple two E and became the film critic for my junior high school newspaper panting popular movies, like teen wolf about that reader feedback. He was a little more direct. In junior high than it is even now with the internet. So you coming into your own another words, I guess, so I'd say they're years transition. I was I was very busy being ostracized. In those years by the time penny Marshall's big came along in nineteen eighty eight. I was seventeen years old and had the confidence and swagger I have today. But I could still recognize the potent fantasy of skipping past that stage in your life altogether, becoming a grownup was about getting your independence, but more than that. It was about knowledge and development. You were no longer work in progress learning one excruciating lesson after another, but a fully formed being who could command a certain amount of respect if you're a thirteen or fourteen year old and an adult body as today's pairing imagines. It feels great to be older. Even if you're uncomfortable and that skin to shows AM. Wow, you've transformed into a middle aged dad. What's your super power? Gained through my part of the script in one take. Okay. Let's give it a shot. What's your parrying? This time the new DC e you. Movie shows AM tells the story of a fourteen year old foster kid named Billy Batson who gains power becoming a superhero. Just by saying the word shows am shows AM. Yeah. That's where he for you. Keith go ahead. So she Zam has super strength. He's bulletproof. He can charge phones with blast electrically from his hands and eventually figures out how to fly, but he can also buy all the junk food. He wants a nobody can stop him. The film AM is basically a souped up version of penny Marshall's big. In fact, the new Philbrick knowledge is the debt by pay. No mosh two bigs famed piano duet FAO Schwarz, though, the two films ultimately have different things to say about the trials of adolescent, both Shas AM and big or comic fantasies scored laughs off what early teens. Imagine it all had to be today. We'll look at big which was penny Marshall's breakthrough film and significantly Ford for her star Tom Hanks who had spent most of the eighties trying to find a vehicle where the of talent the next week. We'll bring in shows AM the silliest and most family friendly of the D C you move so far, and that's saying something. Given the Nakal men came out just last year. But for now, I asked Zoll tar cooling, please listen to the original nineteen eight trailer for big. My wishes granted Josh Baskin. Life was a little unfair. John. Into he made a little. Shown being. Twentieth Century, Fox presents. Tom hanks. Big turn into Brown. A major switch turned his opponent. From now, what get a job get a job. Play with all of this stuff. And then I tell them what I think. Pay you for this sector president? He's only been hero week. Like when you're younger. Go on that wasn't much different. Miss. I wanna spend tonight June asleep over. Yeah. Okay. But I get to be on top. What is so special about Baskin? He's grown up. The eighties were weird with a two year span studios. Released four freaky Friday style body swapping comedies, including like father, like son with Dudley. Moore incur Cameron vice versa with judge Reinhold. Fred savage in eighteen again with George Burns and Charlie Schlatter the fourth was big. And it's the only one with any staying power there. Plenty of reasons why Tom Hanks and his first great role since splash channels sweetness and whimsey over thirteen year old trapped in the body of thirty year old was with Perkins. As the toy company executive takes an interest in this peculiar young upstart is both disarming and heartbreaking a very difficult role in its director penny Marshall, definitely manages the tone. Even as Gary Ross and Spielberg's script lead the audience into some strange deeply uncomfortable situations, and it should be uncomfortable. Because it's about a boy coming of age. Losing his innocence in the process, and that's not easy under the best of circumstances before he makes a fateful wished Zolt har-, the fortune telling machine young Josh Baskin is a kid who still going to the carnival with his doting parents. "Looking back. Everybody needs to Julia here Tuesday. That's one artist to songs. Three one two nine eight one seven two hundred three one two nine eight one seven two hundred is the phone number. Welcome back a little bit later on. We're gonna be talking about the best offer Hitchcock movies. What are your favorites? I happen to be showing what my favorites tonight. I'm hosting screening of the man who knew too much Jimmy Stewart, Doris day, a tremendous movie in very rarely seen on the big screen shot and beautiful technicolor going on the big screen. It's only ten bucks to get in parking free. And it's at the AFC Rosemont eighteen reserve your seats. Now, that'd be waiting for the they'll be waiting for you. At the at the at the theater, and it's AMC theaters dot com. AMC theaters dot com. More a little bit later on. So hopefully, you come on out and see man who knew too much. All right. So we got the article in front of me here about when when t- TV goes all wrong from movie from TV for movie TV and it turns out terrible. We've been talking about some really awful shows that were based on movies and one of them being delta house, which was show. Of course that I watched because I was about all things animals at that point. And and I remember that there was another. There was another show that was that was on around the same time. And it was it was a frat show that was kind of a rip off of animals, and we do we have somebody here on the line. Who knows what it is built? Yeah. What do you remember the name of the show was called brothers and sisters and sisters? I don't remember. That was the name of the show. It was there any who's in it. Yeah. No. I I never watched it. The only reason why I remembered is because it had one commercial apparently it starred Esther from Sanford and son did. Yeah. Lewanda page was an it's. Yeah. It probably lasted two weeks or something like that. She was the main person in the commercial for the show. Okay. All right. All right. Thank you Bill. Thank you. All right. What bills one hundred percent, correct. What year it is? Also from nineteen seventy nine lewanda page is in it. She was played a character Hattie. Well, what's the plot? They have they have a plot description. They don't it's very very light entry here on the on the database, but they've got. You know, some of the cast here. Chris Lemmon, Chris Lemmon, Jack Lemmon, son. Randy Brooks, Amy Johnson. John cutler. Yeah. Okay. It just it doesn't even have a day that date that ended just TV miniseries. Nineteen seventy-nine. Aired on NBC. Okay. I don't know. Why that doesn't seem right to me? But. Yeah. Okay. But one two page was in it. Okay. There you go get a little answer. So. All right. Let's get back to some of these TV shows based on movies that are awful about this fares. Bueller? As if you couldn't get more obnoxious person to play fares. Peeler everybody listens to this show knows my feelings on fares. Peeler right. Absolutely hate it. And I think he's the most despicable character in the history of film. But this guy who they cast as fares peeler in the TV series. Charlie Schlatter was his name. This guy had a window in the late eighties. Where I don't think there was a more. Annoying. Late eighties teenage actor young actor, dude. Then Charlie Schlatter, he was in a movie called all my God. This is this movie. You know, there was there was a. It was a trend in the mid late eighties where the body switching movies became a major thing. Right. Everybody was switching bodies. So there was like father like son, which was Kirk Cameron. If I remember correctly and Dudley Moore, they switched bodies. I'm trying to remember there were there were more than they were like four or five vice versa with with Fred savage, and judge Reinhold. I'm not I'm not making this up, man. These feel like they're just plugging it into meat grinder. And they were like they all came out in like two or three year time span, and they all suck. They were all terrible. And then the one that mentioning now was called eighteen again with George Burns. And Charlie Schlatter. Am looking oh my God. And it was on believable in this guy. Charlie Schlatter who spent most of the movie doing a really awful, George Burns and personnel because he switches bodies with George Burns. As if this Charlie Schlatter kid wasn't annoying enough. Then he's cast his ferris bueller. The most annoying and most despicable character in the history of the world. But here's the the actual funny thing about this is that Jennifer Aniston was on it. On the fares. Bueller TV show if you thought friends with the I'm Jennifer Aniston co-starred on NBC series. We'd like to bring you the television adaptation of fair Steelers day off your attention. Yes. That's twenty one year old Jennifer Aniston playing Jeanie. Bueller? So she plays. The sister. Yeah. Which was Jennifer gray in the movie writing it was one of her earliest acting roles how can a movie that takes place over the course of one day be stretched into a television series. You ask it turns out at can't leave viewers felt when ferris bueller debuted unlike the films famous parade scene. No one was twisted and shouting for fairest build it was cancelled after thirteen episodes the weirdest part of that show because I've I've watched the pilot of fairs bueller. Yeah. And the weirdest part is that it takes place in a world where fares to character fares. Bueller is aware that there is a movie about him? Come on. It's it's really strange it make zero sense. And I just don't I was gonna work clearly never watched it. Because of how I feel about the movie certainly not gonna certainly not gonna watch TV series based on a movie that I despise. You saved yourself a lot of pain. Yeah. It's really unwanted. I will tell you one show that I like that with very sort of kind of ferris bueller. Ask you ever see Parker. Lewis can't lose. Yeah. With coronary back. Yeah. I like that show. I caught that on some rerun some this one I used to like that show. So I know all right. Well, let's take a break. Ferris bueller was not only terrible movie terrible TV show. And we got more terrible TV shows based on movies to talk about if you guys remember any of these remember some TV shows that could fit the category. Three one two nine eight one seven two hundred three two nine one seven two hundred talk and text and we'll be right back with the news, chilling.

"All right. We're talking to some ninety stuff this morning. Right now, we're talking about forgotten teen TV shows from the nineties and asking you what you watched back in that decade three one two nine eight one seven two hundred if you'd like to join us via talk or text. All right. Let's see here is a Stephen who's in Michigan and WGN. Hi, stephen. Hey, hey. Yeah. I briefly remembered that hanging time show, and I believe. Yeah. Dick buckets was like a basketball coach or something. Okay group. Yeah. I mean, it looks like the picture looks like he is their coach because the plot of the show is teenagers in high school dealing with a plane and stuff. So it was it was kind of the. Like, it was the Saturday morning like with like saved by the bell all of those shows. Yeah. There was another one too. That was California's something that was like where they were like a band stopping like a high school, and they're all the same thing like. When saved by the bell was really big NBC kept doing all those high school, whatever type show, right? And then the ones I remember were like all the TGIF stuff like. Meets world and. Full house. I watched the team kinda whatever shows but later at night and stuff. But yeah. Yeah. That's yeah. Time. All right. Thank you, Steven. Yep. To carry the TGIF was huge in the nineties was a perfect strangers part of that perfect strangers at one point was a part of it. Yeah. But the thing the thing about the the I never watched family matters. And every time I family matters. And every time I talk about family matters. I always have to say this. When I found out that urkel. Didn't live in the house. I was like, wait a minute. He's not part of the family. He's like the neighbor. Yeah. Why do you keep letting the city at the house? Why because he just comes in and break stuff and goes do. I thought he lived with the family. I thought he was part of the family when someone told me, no, no, no. He's like the wacky neighbour. I'm like what? Yeah. Why would you let this guy in the house urkel outside knocking on the door? You don't open the door. You say go home. Moron. Well, he's got the hots for the daughter doesn't mean. That's another reason why you shouldn't let him in the house. Oh my God. All right. How about this one? Listen to the two stars of this one. This is a show called get real which I have. A vague. Remembrance of but this is Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg. Wow. And they both look really young in the picture. The green family is a little as they say dysfunctional. However, it's hard not to be with the not to be with a midlife crisis and kids better entering the height of their teen years. Unfortunately, the show only lasted twenty two episodes to its name. So, but we did get to see some pretty awesome Hollywood stars in their young years. Jesse Eisenberg particularly looks like he's he looks like he's five in this picture. He's a young looking dude. Anyway, even at his age right now. But he looks really young. All right. We got some texts here. Chris and elk grove village. Say what's up next just wanted to chime in on some ninety shows? I watched this eighteen and some of my favorites. Were boy meets world, are you afraid of the dark Nickelodeon? And then we got HBO just to watch tales from the crypt. That's not kids show. Got cool parents if you're like if you're a teenager, and they're letting you watch tales from the crypt on HBO. Also loved the cartoon show tales from the crypt on Saturdays three zero one area code says, Nick my kids watched a lot of Nick including the game shows. And of course, the ABC TGIF lineup were a staple in our home. Let's see two six two area code ally. Mcbeal and the beat filmed in Chicago in the early nineties with Mark Ruffalo. I don't remember that. Three a one says. Oh, yeah. We used to watch brotherly love. Fan of the Lawrence family. Three. Oh, one as I think Brie. Larson's first appearance was in a Disney channel movie. Oh, no. She was a child. She was a child actor. She did a bunch of stuff on Disney. That's how Bree Larson started. That's why when she started doing like serious stuff like after short-term twelve people are like, oh, oh, oh, she's not. She's not always going to be this Disney star. Eight four seven area code Shiloh booth in even Steven. Oh, yeah. I remember that I totally remember that little Leboeuf. Eight one five area code in the ninety s I was mostly watching my so called life. Yeah. Me and you both. Don't even play around. My so called life. That was a short-lived series. No, not even a couple of years. It was one season, and they left it open end. You don't know if if Angela got together with Jordan Catalino, I'm still pissed about that. Wow. Well, everything's being brought back nowadays. God. Do you think Claire Danes and Jared Leto are gonna come back and do a TV series? I don't I really don't well Jerry Claire Danes homeland TV series, but that's on Showtime. So it's different. Yeah. I mean, Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence did it. Yeah. But they're not. Jared Leto has an Academy Award. Yeah. You know what I mean? Claire Danes got twenty six Emmys. This eight one five he's also watch friends and Dawson's creek. Although also, I liked a lot of the one season shows like mismatch with Alicia SilverStone and partners with Jon Cryer Tate. Donovan home my God. Eight one five area code says. Do you remember the short lived TV versions of ferris bueller? I do. With Jennifer Aniston. And in Jennifer Grey's, roll people regular listeners know how I feel about fares dealer. It's the second worst movie ever made. He's one of the most despicable characters in the history of film. And I hate everything about that movie, especially the main character, but if you're going to cast a weasel. To play fares. Bueller? They cast the right guy. Charlie schlatter. If I remember correctly. Can you look this up Charlie Schlatter played ferris bueller in the TV series? And Charlie Schlatter was one of the most annoying smug. He was in eighteen again where he and George Burns switch bodies. Oh, good Lord. Oh my God. This guy, George Charlie Schlatter, unbelievably obnoxiously annoying. Oh, yeah. I remember this guy. Yeah. You look at them. You just want to smack them right in the head was he related to the producer of real people. Oh, you know. Maybe maybe he was because I don't understand how he could get work. Otherwise. And then there was a TV version of Bill, and there was a TV version of Bill and Ted. Oh, I know. There was an advocate. Okay. I thought they did like a live. And it was like you can't, you know, by the way, the the sequels they're going to start filming. Yeah. It's related. I cannot wait. I am. So I cannot wait. I will I will go to that premier with you golf. Yeah. Man. Please. Eight one five area code says. I think he did some sort of he ran some sort of shop sports shop dick Butkus did in the in the hang time. Eight one five area code says, I used to watch dinosaurs. I still think it's one of the weirdest shows. One of the weirdest shows of all time. Two six two area codes as ally mcbeal with the Flockhart. Three one area code says. Hey, this is really fun. I'd forgotten just how much crappy TV was on the nineteenth. Glad I could remind you. And then Glenn in Evanston, says Anthony Anderson got his start on hang time. No he did. Anthony Anderson was on hang time. Wow. You know, what movie? Anthony Anderson is hilarious. I love Anthony Anderson. He goes you guys watch blackish I've seen a couple of episodes. It's terrific show. He's great on it. And I've always liked Anthony Anderson. Always I've always liked him. But he's hilarious. In Harold and Kumar ho Larry, and he's only got like two scenes in the movie, but he he's he's absolutely hilarious in it as our most people in that movie. Yep. He was and hang Don. There we go. Anthony anderson. Hang time. He got the you know what? He keep that on his resume. You got to work with did Butkus. Yeah. Yeah. Career show up on the first list. I extend the yeah. Yeah. Just a little bit because he was only in thirty nine of the four see. I see. All right. How about this one? The next one on the forgotten nineties TV list here is ready or not. It was a Disney channel production. So now this one actually got to air for five seasons. Wow. I've never even heard of this thing. Can you look this one up too? Yeah. Cast. I don't either. And maybe because it was so relatable ready or not was about two teenage friends just going through life together. We've all been there. Right. Ready or not? Let's see aired for five seat. Well, I didn't watch the Disney channel. So you know, what? I mean, I it's not it wasn't one of my go-to channels in the nineties. So that's why I don't remember this at all. Who was the two leads? Do. We know. It looks like Laura Bertram and Lani billard. Oh, sure. Those too. Yeah. Right right next to here. Yeah. Why did they do a TV version of clueless? What what was that all about? I remember that. I don't know. I just remember seeing of Soden done leads in the TV version were like almost thirty. I don't even remember can you look look that up.
