He likes that water. Burger 51283605 nineties the phone number. Let's go to Liberty Hill and talk to Bill on K. O. B. J. What's up, Bill? I ain't nailed for literally hell, man. Hey, uh, I think you guys are 100% right, man. I don't see how start coming from his background. And his reformation can can go wrong and I hope I'm right that he will resurrect this program. I just think he's coming from the form of a A Um, And you know the way he healed himself. He's going to hell this program and you know when they get locker room, which is that always get, you know, Gather your metal chairs. Let's go, Everybody, everybody to send here. You know what no matter what we say, it's all cool. So let's go on. That's all confess our sins about green being prima donnas and let's all go out there and be stud. One heart all want family. I love you. Bill from Liberty Ale. That's Bill. I think we should start a confessing sins segment here on the program at clemency. Go first hand. Good. That's that Friday. Not like totally sure. Yeah. Have you the right to have your phone call their bill. But yes, Coach. Steve Sarkeesian has a lot of life experience with she can bring to the field. Sure, right? Yeah, You could say the stakes are low compared to what he's been through. So Wow. Yeah, that's right. Did did I make sense of what I was saying? There is not usually no, no. In the last segment. Is there pressure on the Longhorns? Of course. Is there more pressure on Texas football than most? You know, take teams in the country Every Yes sees horse and it But I think that the the pressure that notoriously follows this program Um, it bubbles up when things have gone bad, and there's nobody there's nobody. I don't know. Is there somebody pushing back against this part? Is there somebody you know the first game? That Charlie Strong coach? There are already detractors? There were the first day Doubters. There were people who were saying, Yeah, this is guy with the right. Yes, exactly The red the Red McCombs deal when he said he's a great corner, not only his head coach Yeah, I don't think there's anybody out there. He's in the honeymoon phase right now. I don't think there's there's pressure. I mean, there's excitement. There's a lot of eyes, obviously, but I don't think that there is it. I don't know that the stakes are as high as some people want to make it seem like there right now, because everybody's got his back. Everybody is behind him. At least for today. This might be the only leased for today. Yeah, it might be the only time Do you forget that yesterday on this program, I said, if he starts attacking the dubs, I'd leave my wife for him. You know you are some kind of guy there. Hey, man, he's got me. I'm smitten. Just win baby That's going to South Austin and talk to Ron is on K. O B. J. What's up, Ron? Hey, I want to support my boy. Vito. I am all over what? You think it's going to happen with this team this year? I'm wearing My longhorn while you better. I've got my orange flag flying. I am absolutely confident that Stark is not going to do. What other coaches Have done in the past the Christians and the the stuck Gilbert throw them in Ellenberger. Oh, he's just stronger and better this year when we have so had so many great quarterbacks. Sitting on the side. Uh, not playing. I think start is not going to make that same mistake of just keeping one quarterback in there, regardless of how they're doing, regardless out Eleanor and Christians and Gilbert works They didn't bring home the bacon. I'm sorry. They didn't bring home the bacon and I support my brother Vito. I think this is going to be a great season. Come hell or high water. It's going to be better than what it was Ron in the spirit of Friday, Lou you you're wearing your burnt orange y Vera. Give us a great grito to wish our Longhorns luck. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Well, yes. What I'm talking about. I love you. I think you're off base talking about Sam Allen girl that that stupid sports stagnation isn't drunk on the Boca And perhaps it was drunk. Yeah, I'm I think. What if Herman would have changed like turned a corner from him? We knew he was beat up and hurt last year. Ed, come on. He was matter of Sam. L was better than Casey Thompson, better than cut was hard being a beat up. Yeah. How do you know you never saw him? Because he's your right. We never saw. Thank you. They weren't good. Thank you, man. I'm still trying. We're not good enough. I'm trying to iron out enough iron out runs take here is he saying, unlike previous coaches, who perhaps stuck to their guns or a step, put a quarterback in for what? You might amount of political reasons. Jason, listen to me. Also, Steve is going to go with the best man for the job. All you need to take away from Ron's take is that he gave us a Badass grito on a gang Friday. Louise were to burn or dry a better for Christ. That was beautiful rhyme. All right, all the stuff about the Christians telling I was a little confused percent make much sense there, But I'm glad you're dressed like a million bucks today. Yeah, let's let's do it, man. Look, I mean, Am I worried about what's going to happen next week in Arkansas? Yeah, probably, uh, heroin 12 this season? Sure. Well, I'm just telling you, I'm telling you, right, Waffler, Bill Point waffling the great walling you right now, today, Uh, there is affirmation for this coach like I have never seen for a new head Coach. I was just just a wee lad when Mack Brown got the job. But affirmation for a new head coach that I have not seen. And I don't know if he'll he'll experience it again. But everybody has his back right now. And so I'm very confident. Longhorn. Yeah, 41 17. We should. We should be confident. We should be glad this guy's comes from a great pedigree at Alabama. Again translate the great stuff from Alabama. That means a great great deal for the Texas football team. Alabama, right? Alabama? MM, Alabama. So good. I'm glad I'm just I'm just I'm just trying not to get way way up during this. The Boca strategy can tell you said Texas overly channel for 28 2024. Yeah. 28 24 Longhorns win good defensive effort. If the Longhorns hold him sure that's 24 coaches said. If you every that's what he said, is it, he said earlier this year, Louisiana team veto Has 45 10. I got to say you would You know what you are you are once again King of Boca Mountain. Alright coaches, coaches, coaches said me, though, he said, if we can all opponents to 21 bonnets, that's his goal. I I get there. Look, dude. If if if if I'm looking for anything of this caliber of team of what we played last year and the defense this year compared to the defense last year how it ended last year with the new defensive coach this year, the off season that they had tackling Then? Yeah, like, Get out there, get fired up and stay on them. For the entire game. I mean, it's just college football in 2021. Now they're the rules. The rules are basically they've cheated them for the offense. I hear And so yeah, I think holding a team to 24 points. It's fine. Uh, a ranked team to 24 points. Yeah, but you've also talked circles. Both of you guys about Should Louisiana even be ranked. I mean, it was close games, you know? Yeah. Yeah, come. It should be there should be ranked because of all the people coming back. They've got 20 out of 22 starters. Um, how many people does rice have coming back? Are they ranked Well, unlike.

"All gas, No brakes, all gas, no bricks. But, you know, I don't want to be a downer to beat up and look, no one dislikes Find bomb more than me. Maybe the only person I just liked listening to more would be his head would call whatever. Tebow and my are his buddy. Drag McElroy on the beauty network. But there's some truth to what he's saying. Guys like. I hate to admit it. But the boosters that Texas have been a problem and they're going to continue to be a problem on that manifest itself. And, you know, not just running people out of town. But just kind of you know the day to day maintenance of it, But, uh, I just think the leadership and not having the vote of confidence From those guys knowing that you have more than three years or that they're not going to be asking for more than what they honestly deserved. In my opinion, it's been that way, you know. Going back as far as you can in trace it back to you. But is this it's not good, and it is unique to Texas in a lot of ways like Michigan doesn't have that Notre Dame doesn't have that They may have not obnoxious alumni, but their boosters that medal the way that Texas does. Texas is unique in that regard. Todd. I don't wanna talk from South Boston. I don't want it to sound like I'm here being like a booster defender, because I would agree with you and find bomb that those things do exist, But Answer me this If somebody save ripping off like, Jason said, starts putting, you know the skins back up on the wall. Does that alleviate some of the pressure? Do you think that that's why it's been such a fever points since the last last natty is because they want that thirst and taste for it again, Or is this just a problem that will deal with in perpetuity here? Winning solves everything, but I think just to go back to what you're saying earlier be to, um, you know, we didn't go try to get Charlie strong. The boosters were already talking about giving mixed even before they very unceremoniously pushed back out the door, which was handled terribly. They didn't want Charlie strong with a hired them. McCombs was sitting there, saying he's an assistant coach. You should be a head coach, and then they get they kind of wanted Tom Herman. But again, you know, even with this with the star tire It was all about urban Meyer, and that's all the boosters chatting and pounding your chest. We've got more money than under the Vatican ball a block and it's just kind of when coaches arrived here now. Ever since. You know, Charlie Strong tongue, Herman even start. They don't start out on the solid foundation than a lot of ways because the guy before them was run out of town. You know, Like I said, very unceremoniously. And in some ways they under meaning even before they because in the first game, and I don't think that's very key, equated toe workplace environment Now granted, I don't have Ah guaranteed contract where if I screw up and get fired? I make 25 Million no matter what. It's a tough workplace environment. It's toxic in a way. Yeah, yeah. Todd in South Austin, always one of our smartest caused that That is why Look, if I am Sarker find whoever gets the Texas job. I'm gonna say Hey, I'm gonna do this my way. And if I'd have had me and gets me round out of here in three years, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go down with the ship like that. Rather than trying to juggle all the parts like we've seen so many guys try and fail at it. Well, that even the guys who were good at it like that it Have. What would I would say that I've seen a lot of stories of coach Steve out talking to these people, so maybe making positive inroads who we could talk more on this If you like. 51283605 90 Sports talk back out of news. One of them is named anne. who's the quarterback. Why any he's white pennington. No dan the quarterback is black. You're talking about ronnie. No he's brown. Whose brown ronnie now. He's black no he's brown. Wait a minute who is in the backfield with him. Polite okay. who's in the backfield with him. Please terrible who's brown hair so good all right. So that was that phase where he thought acting was easy. You do with ten minutes from now guys all right you guys wittingham and cody. Chris cody already. They're going to do a. Who's on first routine. But we've actually got some cool stuff from sports to talk about because there couldn't have been a funnier thing that happened this this weekend. I dare you. I dare any of you to talk me then. A e w wrestling chris jericho and we liked tony kahn. Around here and stunningly. Stu got a w. wrestling earlier. This year had better ratings than the nets and the sixers playing a game during the regular season crazy because they've gotten some footing in the wrestling world and they've done it at least in part because they did you see this. Did you see what it is that i'm talking about. But they had. They had better ratings than a regular season game at nets sixers. Yes between those two teams and and part of the reason is because they're funny. It's wrestling with with a wink and chris. Jericho has been great at that for a long time. Spills into the office of urban meyer. The actual office of urban meyer. Because they tape those things jacksonville stadium and urban meyer's they're pretending to be shocked. It's his likable has ever been. And then his coach jessica disagrees assistant. Coach just starts firing football. Not just anti assistant coach dan. Charlie strong who never been on a football in his life a pair. He's in jacksonville. Right makes sense though. Put it on the pole. Guillermo at lebatardshow even gear not here. Is that as likable as urban. Meyer has ever been. And did you know that charlie strong was in jacksonville. Jessica you shaking your head. No that was not urban. Meyer being likable I really truthfully didn't see it. Dan but urban meyer unlikable in the same sentence just a difficult one for me no matter what. The context is okay but again. I'm telling you that this is wrestling with a smirk. So i understand in all the different ways. Urban meyer is problematic. She is so sue guts. I mean she did see it. She's forming an opinion. I love you smitty us. Do god's the suge stugatz our This weekend and the twenty four hour livestreams going to be dangerous. I don't know what it's going to be. It's not on the schedule but it's going to happen. Is it going to happen. I've just been told is just and i don't think that's going to happen. I've seen all the paperwork. I've seen more planning than anything that's ever been done around the show. It's frighten me looking through all that paperwork. They expect us to plan this advantage. "Also kind of goes with what you're asking right because he's got a guy like Darryl Bubble coming. Who's Who's worked with Russell Wilson, the beginning of his career perfect choice for an offensive coordinator to come in and work with troubled Lawrence. He got Russ. Right where he needed to be so early in his career, But then you still have, like Charlie Strong and those ties to the college game, and you mentioned the perfect time. Think about this. This was an off season where we had no combine. We have no visits. Knowledge about college prospects was then. Who is more knowledge about college prospects than urban Meyer and probably the guys who had connection on his staff. I mean, Anthony Schlegel comes in as their strength and conditioning guy. He's been with Ohio State for the last seven years. You don't think that fraternity of strength and conditioning coach is in the college game that he has the role of next to flip through are going to shoot him straight about prospects in a time when everybody's searching for information. So I think this was the perfect transition in a draft with so many questions involving prospects. Well, he were here in Buffalo have been down the road of searching for a quarterback, and they obviously found their guy and Josh Allen. He came out of the 2018 draft, along with four other guys You've got Lamar Jackson already been an M V. P. Josh, who was runner up in the M V P last year, and Sam Donald is in a new refurbished. Carolina Panthers organization, and Baker Mayfield, who got the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs for guys who seemed it with the exception of Darnell's seem to have found their level where their team is right now. Of these four guys. I mean, they all you know they got their options picked up who signs their deal first. And what do you think those deals will look like? We're not talking Josh Rosen. We're not not today. Okay? Okay. We could do a second on John. We could do a segment on Josh. Next time I'm on. Let's go through Go through the guys, and this is just kind of putting together. What makes sense. Right? Let's go with the first one. That's the guy in Buffalo and Josh Alan. I mean, you would say there's the fewest amount of question marks surrounding Josh Alan and what you need answered. If you're one paying the bill of what's probably gonna be the next $40 million a year quarterback right because you've seen the progression. You've seen the patients. You've seen the growth and it's the style of quarterback play with no questions on the durability. Really? Yes. The size the arm. You've seen the completion percentage go up every year and then catapulted near three. You're seeing a natural progression of becoming one of the best players in all of football. You were question marks. I would assume the deal has a greater chance of getting done sooner. Lamar Jackson, let's go to the next, probably best player out of that group. Well, he plays the position a little bit differently, and there's still the thought of Can you be a runner? And can you be a thrower? Well, he's proven that you can be and you can complete a lot of passes doing it, but he does it a little bit differently. And so I think that gives you a little bit more of a hesitation. I think it deal gets done for sure. I just think maybe that's probably the one that happens next with Baker. I just think that they want to see what happens in this next 2021 season. Because really, what you're banking on. Is those last eight games kind of right in Kevin's too fancy system where he threw 15 touchdowns 222 picks You're seeing him get comfortable decision system that's designed for him. I would think the hazards would like to see another year of that. But from my understanding is they think and extensions happening in ownership, believes in extensions happening when that happens, that's kind of up in the air. He has a greater chance of maybe being after this year, as opposed to this potentially this off season and then Sam Donald obviously has a lot to prove. If you go and look at what Caroline and Denver did with back to back picks there, they both had a shot at Justin Fields. Both liked him to my understanding a lot. Both of them passed. It's not because Sam Donaldson rage. I think they're leaving their options open as well as there could be some quarterbacks in the next year available, so I think his Lot is a little bit up in the air, and then again, we'll get to Josh. Next show. So with Josh Rosen, right with respect to Josh Baker and Lamar James. What we have here is a market that we know is only going up with each big quarterback deal. That happens. Do you think that any one of those clubs Would feel compelled to be the first to get a guy to sign on the dotted line. So is not to be on the back end of an escalating market. And that's the cat and mouse game right of this, because I mean, if you're the bills, you probably have the best of the bunch. Even though he doesn't have an M v P. I think we all can probably agree. If you look at the trajectory of the next decade, you probably have the best of the group. And so probably judges. Representation is going when we want the biggest out of all this that but all three of them. Are looking at the cowboy's situation that we simply went down right and getting it pushed down the road is something the Cowboys should have never done and showed the rest of the league. What ended up happening with back Prescott? So I do think getting a deal done sooner. Is probably more advantageous for the for the clubs. And then the players. They're seeing. What happened with that, Prescott. Obviously, nobody wants go tag tag tag. Whatever went down, but at the same time I do think you have to be in a situation to where you go. We have the best player out of the group. We have a guy that is a generational talent that's going to be there. The number does keep going up. The home situation is an out liar. That contract is something we're probably not going to see from any of these other ones. But yeah, getting something done sooner is probably better for the club. Trying to wait just a little bit to see if you can get a gauge of where things are. The other two is probably what the agents are taking that a step further, though, James, you know, you mentioned the Mahomes deal, and it is unique. There is no question about that. Hearing G. M's in the league, including brand and being here already talking about not having a whole lot of confidence in the cap, even getting to where it was last year. In 2022. Might that at least Make the G M's in this league. Maybe try to just broach the subject of a deal being structured that way, because of where The cap is going to be in 2022. I mean, I'm sure everybody feels by 2023. The new media deals kick in, and the cab gets back to where they're used to seeing it with the increases they're used to seeing as well. But in 2022, it's not sounding like that's going to be the case. I mean, we have GM saying, We may not even get to 200. Um, you know for 2022. So how much does that open the door for? GM's to at least propose to these quarterbacks agents? Hey, can we at least discuss getting unique or creative? Much the way the Chiefs did. Yeah, Those conversations are all happening, but the way it goes back and forth is and also, you know some of those going..

How are you, sir, and hook him? I'm good. How are you doing? Looking right back at you were doing good man. What's the long slapper thing? What is that? Remember, like the last time you were on this show, Jason said Hey, could you give me some tips on how to be a long slapper? It was just he must He misspoke that of a snapper? He said slapper. See? Here's the deal. Welcome. Welcome to my world neighbor. Where in that you just You miss pronounce one word a year ago. You'll never get it. Let it be that was still referencing it as people care. Know what? You know what? That way. I know. People like that just won't let things Yeah. You're talking about your brother beat. All right here, Nate, What's going on, man? We got so much to catch up on. But are you actually running this weekend for the Austin Marathon all to get the word out and raise some great money for the Del Children's Heart program. I am doing that hopefully You know if I don't freeze to death early on, That's the plan. No way. I just heard the weather report from you guys. How I see we talking as far as the roads go well, there's a little ice going on right now. It's gonna get worse over the weekend because the high Saturday's 35 below 24 Sunday 33 15, and then it's going to snow Monday night, so Bring that extra close, buddy boy. Yeah. Oh, man. All right. I'm packing right now. So that Z good to know I'll keep that in mind. But now I'm looking for Jake. It's actually It's really cool just earlier. Several months ago. Actually at the Del Children's, they performed the first heart surgery. And, uh, And that's another pretty special kid was pretty special. Dealing to kids just got released Moscow like a month ago, and, uh, And so they They're hoping to do a lot more of that course. And then this year with Boston Marathon being canceled, moving into a half marathon in April, I'd like committed to doing this thing. I never ran one before. I turned 40 in January, something I'm running America. I'm doing it And then, like I started training her to got canceled. No, like I'm still doing it. And I got in touch with people of Boston Marathon and Ascension, Seton and and Del Children's and said, Look, this is what I wanna do. Let's team up in there like that sounds awesome. And they've been incredibly supportive the whole way through this thing, and I was training up and doing well. So I had a little Achilles injury set me back a bit, So I took like a month off of running and I've gotten back into it. But Long story short. I never run more than 14 Miles, so I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little nervous, huh? It's all good. I'm just gonna put my head down and grind it out. I'll find a way even if people have to carry me, you know, So whether permitting Nate, you're going to go that it's what is it 26.2? Isn't that the she's your 26 point. You're into the whole thing. The routes really cool, too. It goes all over off starts. Start downtown near the capital. Go south to Ben White on go back up and head over to the West side out towards like Austin, and then we'll go to North campus and then we'll go way out way out East side and then come all the way back back past the Capitol and finish on controversial. It'll be. It'll be pretty. I would be catching an uber somewhere in the middle there for for the capital. Maybe a pint and a slice of pizza. Uh, yeah, There's gonna be people with their eyes on me. They got the medical van out there so that if there's like Five or six cycles. Citizen rule with us so named pressure. Well, that's great. And best of luck to you with the with the weather this weekend, lot of eyes on the University of Texas in the football program right now, when you played if I understand correctly, you played for Mack Brown and Coach Charlie Strong right there. Exactly. There's a new guy here. What do you think? Just so far their impressions of coach these Sarkissian I mean, good impressions. I haven't met him yet. Having that coach dark yet, But I'm excited for that move. I really am. I mean, we're always excited for on hopeful for to get back to where we need to be, of course. On, You know my good buddy Blake Gideon Scott hired to the staff. He was playing when I was playing, and he kinda helped coach me up when I first got to the team, and so that's really exciting to me as well. And Everything sort of coming together. I think he really gets it from the standpoint of like, making sure alumni. Letterman still connected it to the program and all that. That's something that is vital, you know, and Mack Brown was always incredible about that. I mean, he remembered everybody. Everybody's name. Everybody's mom's name except like that forever. And you need that kind of stuff to take a job as the head coach of taxes because it's just it's different. It's different in a lot of other schools, I mean, Your CEO, You know, you have to be able to manage a lot of things. It's not just actually knows so. On, of course recruiting on so it's It's exciting. What we'll We'll see, of course, how it goes in the fall. You never know we got new quarterback and all kinds of new stuff happening, but, um, but there's there's been plenty of situations. We have the talent to play situations were New blood has come in and right away. Now you're right there at the top one and competing with the best, So that's where we belong and hope that's what's gonna happen. You feel like you should you could still play. Of course, I could go out there right now and long slapped with the best of all way. Gotta get into that video here in a second was just was just yet. Yeah. Run the tape. I want to hear this. Okay, here. Let's just get to it right now. Name. This is what people think. You hear what it has been my only cares about that. It is it but it has been my Jason. Dig my dream since I was a young man to be a first of all you say long snapper or deep snapper. I know that both our Yeah, they both say, but I don't think one is I always just moved in together. Long snapper. That's my opportunity to make it as a football player. Because while I am the larger than average, dude, I'm very soft, Nate. All right, and I was like this is how I could be. This is how could I could make it on the TV? And so I've always had aspirations to make. It is a long snapper. For those of you who don't know Nate Story was a Green beret had never played. On of organized football team before right and then walked on to the Texas team play special teams and wound up as the long snapper. So I want to ask you. Can you give me a 39 year old man? Some tips that we started a starter kit on How I can go Pro is a long snap. Uh, well, no, I can not Secret sauce man. I don't have the answers. How did you understand? There's been a lot of long snappers out there. There's been a lot of these snappers, but there's only been one American snappers. And that is maybe hell. Yes, you know. Well, if you want to get eyes on Jason Dicks long snapping technique we have video posted for you to critique at the sports Talk Kale, BJ page on Facebook mate. Uh, yeah. Maybe if you could get you know if you haven't find the time get us a critique on that. I have a legitimately want to know. How did you start doing it? How did.

Give us a few moments here joins via the progressive, Yes line and in my opinion with that day John Appreciate you jumped on a Saturday, man. How are you? Have your good guys think that me on. I appreciate it. Yeah, Absolutely. So walk me through what It's been like the past 48 to 72 hours and Jacksonville ever since news broke of the Jags hiring Chris Doyle and then Doyle resigning from his position. Well, I mean, what they think so disease to begin with was I mean, they just love the hiring of Chris Doyle on Thursday, enough for hiring of Myers, the entire coaching staff and this has been something you know, people have been waiting on for several weeks. So it was a major day, you know, for the Jaguars and for the base, and they had all the eyes on it. And then you know, once the boil higher wasn't out with all those other hires. I think it was 31. The hires announced. Exactly Doyle's name is obviously the one that got the most people's intentions and understanding was so and that kind of Snowballed from there. And then he added, The fact that you know, General Lawrence had his pro day of staying and it seems like you know it was a pro day. But it might have been a private workout for him and Urban Meyer because You saw on television. Mayer was just a couple yards away from them talking that that was winning the entire like, work out so that you know all this stuff in together, and it has been a definitely a hectic couple days just from my new standpoint. Now I'm curious as to what the reaction actually in Jacksonville, Woz when they saw Doyle come across, because obviously the national me they picked it up. They ran with it. But what was the reaction in amongst Jack Jacksonville Fan base? Yeah, I believe a month Sand base. Um uh, it was, you know, mostly people were thinking, you know, even that You know, they're not people who are thinking, OK, maybe you don't disqualify. You know someone from a second chance. I think it was universally held opinion by the fan base that, uh it was another necessary move, and it was kind of a misfire Just because I mean I, It's He almost never see a team get in the headlines just much for somebody who's gonna be, you know, part of the strength and conditioning program. I mean, you know he wasn't gonna be there. Head drink goat's butt. He's gonna be the director, of course, Performance and 12 of five of the 12 questions Meyer took on Thursday when asked about his staff and again. This is a staff. We waited a month for him down bail and almost half the questions he got was about this one higher, So I think it was a consensus that It was just on this very tunnel from the girl. Talked with John Shipley, covering the Jacksonville Jaguars for Jaguars report Kind of have to give us a few moments. You're in my opinion with that day. So John, Walk me through what you thought of the other hires. They're a couple names on there that a lot of casual football fans will recognize. There's a bunch more names to die hard football fans will recognize what were some of the higher that really stood out to you other than Chris Doyle. Yeah, absolutely. And I really do think you know they didn't include the door higher that a lot of people both locally and actually be pretty excited about the staff because I believe the hiring of you know, Darryl Bevell has often accordion and Brian Schottenheimer as happy and coordinator. Both of those guys have put together a really good passing game somewhere. You know the last 23 seasons. And you know, they both have a lot of NFL experience, a lot of experience working with young quarterback so I think the pairing of two of them together for you know their number One overall pick this year was a smart move. And then defensively, I think You know, Joe Coleman was obviously a smart higher, but I think the hiring of Charlie strong, you know, he's just gonna be touching inside linebackers. But he's also the media assistant head coach, and I think getting somebody like that. Who Meyer, you know, really trust to the very end. You can kind of be a leader in front of the whole team and kind of an extension of Meyer. You know, I wrote that Mayer was a general that we've been strongest. His first lieutenant stuff that doesn't the higher said stand out for me. So you mentioned Trevor Lawrence's Pro Day yesterday is it was kind of like a private workout. Urban Meyer there front and center. Is there any snowball's chance that Jacksonville goes an opposite direction with the number one overall pick? I've been wrong before. But I've been tweeting that you can bet your more to get John that standing by that. I just did not envision any scenario where they're not picking Lawrence, because If they were gonna pick field or something like that. I don't I don't think mired be the exception of Jaguars today in Florence wasn't you know, guaranteed to be the quarterback in the coming months. That was Jacksonville. A Is Jacksonville, a city that's going to put billboards up? They're gonna put T shirts. I remember when Robert Griffin was drafted here in D. C. We had shirts. We had socks. He was on camera we had we had everything is Jackson. We're going to do the same thing for trouble. Lawrence, who was going to be a little more located, they had Certain stocks and bandannas and billboards for Gardner Minshew when he went six and six of the rookies, So I put the lawyers I don't think they're gonna have any trouble..

He officially joins Urban Meyer's coaching staff at Jacksonville. He'll work for the Jaguars on the defensive side. "H A s Jody de Maling watches sports force from all the different realms. And I hear you're going to say the name of a former U of L. Football coach on already forgotten about. Head you? Yeah, Charlie Strong. How about that, Terry? Charlie really early. You know, he is a national champion. Now. He was just crowned on Monday night. He was part of Alabama's staff as an analyst this year, and it looks like he is accepted a new job. He is going to be from what I hear. I thought he was going to go back to, uh uh, sound like he was gonna go back to Cali or stay in college but is agreed to be the linebackers coach with Urban Meyer for the Jacksonville JAG wires. So there you have it, Terry. You know there was a good There's a funny story last they worked together years ago. They worked together at Florida. Yes, he was. He was Urban's defensive coordinator for him at Florida. There was a story last week going into the national championship. I actually going to the semifinals, where Maria Taylor went and talked to the wives of all four of of the coaches. And Nick Saban's wife's. The question was about. You know something about somebody on staff that they're grateful for something, and she mentioned Charlie strong, and they said Why? She said, Because I feel sorry for him, and they're like, OK, You gotta explain that now, Charlie Strong was evidently the person that Nick Saban when he was in quarantine for covert 19. He was the go between between the staff and saving. Can you imagine being that guy? Holy cow. Oh, my So, Yeah, So Charlie is pressure. The former Louisville, Texas and South Florida coach is joining Urban Meyer's staff in Jacksonville. And again, it sounds like the linebackers coach. Originally there was some talk about defensive coordinator but sounds like he's gonna be the linebackers coach there, uh, in Jacksonville. Louisville quarterback coach Frank Pontes is on the move. He is headed to Back to Appalachian State where he came from with Scott Satterfield. He will be the new offensive coordinator at AP State that made that announcement official just about an hour or so ago. And Wandell Robinson, the 2000 and 18 it Kentucky. Mr Football. He's on the move. He's coming back home. He is going to transfer To Kentucky, he announced over the course of two years at Nebraska. "And then you get the boot and they replaced you with somebody else who had a job, and it's a wash rents Repeat. So in the case of urban Meyer, I'm not going to sit here and say, Oh, yeah, Urban Meyer is he's going to the Super Bowl with this team and three or four years. I'm not saying all of that. I think they'll work out. The team will get better. This is the fax this Jacksonville Jaguars team. They probably would have gotten better with anybody you put in that situation. Unless I pulled in a toddler to run this team to run this organization, you gotta be a complete clown or a fool to screw this up. With the assets that the Jaguars have to get Trevor Laurence Toe have that cap space tow have the draft picks to have the young talent that's already you have to be a clown to screw it up. There's nothing infallible Nothing You can always stumble here an injury here that that's true, But all things considered. This is a winning situation for whatever coach would have gotten the job. Rico's calling up from Richmond, Rico, you want CBS Sports radio? Appreciate taking the call, but look, just biggest source. Sweet, simple. I mean Overmyer over there. I mean, sure, he's gonna make the new He's gonna bring all the old James, though. Florida Gator fans back here, reunite them against in Jacksonville is not that far of a drive anyway, right, right, but I mean, it's all cool and everything like that. But I obviously feel like you know, it could only be exist, said if he brings on the people that he really wants, which is like, you know, the offensive coordinator in the defense of Cornet and his obviously You know, they have a lot of good defense of stars that they had. And they sell, you know, saw them off and made all these like Jack sticks, which is awesome, But you know, it just it all depends on the place styles and play calling because you know, the general manager is going to get the people that want urban Meyer. Well, Obviously, ever minds will be predominantly making all the Meghan all the decisions, but That's Steve. All the right pieces made together, you know, And I say maybe two or three years. I mean, 79. That's a great expectations because you got the colt in that division has gotta awesome defense. You got the Titans with their Henry and Tannehill. I mean, when I ain't gonna talk about Houston, their big old That's the big explosion right there. But Mm. Big old explosion. OK, That's yeah, they want for the city of Houston. Don't feel sorry for this. Don't feel sorry for the city, Rico. But let me let me respond to what you just said. And thank you so much for calling from Richmond. Shot outside. Everybody from short pump toe. Shaka bottom. I appreciate y'all. Listen. It Zob Venus. He's going to have to bring in some coordinators. I'm going to gather Urban Meyer is going to be able to have the say so, especially for an interim general manager. Right now in Jacksonville. He's gonna have he's going to be able to call his shot. He's gonna be able to pick and choose who he wants to to run the offense and the defense and he's obviously going to oversee it all. Sound like he's gonna bring back Charlie Strong. You know, he ain't bringing him in. He's going to go ahead and probably hire someone. On both sides of the football who have NFL experience. And I think this is this is a highly coveted job. That's why his ass got it. That's why I think it will work out. Nothing is foolproof. Nothing is guaranteed. We all know that there is not a thing guaranteed in life. The old joke, nothing guaranteed death and taxes. So it's not to say that Jacksonville's will go out there. And just when And I don't know about a seven and nine dammit! They maybe seven and on and a couple of years, they maybe 18 8, maybe nine and seven. They might be in the playoffs in two years. You can't just go ahead and judge everybody right out the gate. Justin Herbert was kicking ass this year, he did make the playoffs. So it's kind of a lower he started what nine games and They almost got there shout outs to a Ryan Fitzpatrick for doing his part as well. Not everybody's getting thrown into the fire and working out right away. Let's see what trouble Lawrence Conduce. We have more calls on the line. I will continue to take them. Do you think Urban Meyer will work out in Jacksonville? I think he will. I'm not saying they're going to go win a Super Bowl in four or five years, but I think they got nowhere to go but up. They got everything that you would want for team that's gonna rebuild that just won one game. 855 to 1 to four. CBS. You're listening to the J. R sport. Brief show you're listening to CBS Sports Radio. "I can't wait to see that partnership. Between him and Trevor Laurence, and I'm curious to see how he builds a staff. What veteran NFL defensive minds does he bring in? Or how many people from his college staff? Does he bring in and give him credit for identifying identifying Ryan Day and look at the success that Ryan Day? Has had at Ohio State, and I was an urban Meyer hire Ryan Day. It wasn't that long ago. Where? Yeah, it was a quarterback coach in the NFL. With the Eagles with the 40 Niners Chip Kelly. Had two different stints at Temple. I think Boston College too, but for the most part, Ryan Day was really an unknown and urban Meyer brought him in to the state. And eventually, when urban walked away, Ryan Dave replaced him and that's a big part of the delegation. And yes, in college. A lot of these college coaches of micro managers you need to know in the NFL had a delegate and adapt. And also be a leader of men. And we'll see what urban Meyer can do is he makes that transition and I saw some rumors today. That Charlie Strong, who used to be a defensive coordinator. When Charlie Strong was that Florida and Urban Meyer was at Florida. He is rumored to be nothing official yet, but he's rumored to be Urban Meyer's defensive coordinator. In the National Football League, assuming he does take this Jacksonville Jaguars job. All right, so that's where we start show today. Urban Meyer going to the NFL, That's what it looks like. It's gonna happen. Nothing official yet. But it looks as if Urban Meyer is gonna be next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and we'll have to wait and see.

I saw today and it look, we knew this. He is inheriting. Tom Herman had a number three. Number three number eight recruiting class so considerably. Wouldn't you say mortality than Tom Herman and inherited from Charlie Strong and even more talented, strong and herded inherited from Mack Brown, right? Especially from the offensive side, I think yeah. So sorry. Player wise. I don't know about the lines. But yes. Oh, by the way, had climates in the I assigned you some homework. Did you do your homework it into your homework? Ah, the homework. Remember list of a list of Longhorn players. You're going to stay guys who are opting into the an additional year because the NC double a is not not tolling your eligibility. I have it for you. Of course. Jason's like a good friend of you and elementary. What did your homework when he knew you wouldn't I mean, the most notable 1 may be the only notable one. Kate Brewer. Tight end is coming back for 1/5 year toe. Keep Jarrod Wiley on the sideline more. S o. He is taking advantage of not of an extra year here. Brennan schooler who I believe was a graduate transfer is going to come back for another year. He was he had some moments. Yeah, the wide receiver right over here. Guy. Um, you have an offensive lineman. Forgive me, Tok E. Mo Day. I'm going to guess that will be. That's good. When you have those offensive lineman, the older the better, you know, he's coming back for a 60 year. All right. A zit is offensive lineman Denzel Oh, kefir. Who will be back for 1/6 year as a Longhorn and defensive lineman Marquez been managed, who opted out of this season because of coronavirus concerns. Those are to the best of my knowledge, the five Longhorns who are taking advantage of that there's more on the defensive side. I think that they trust you. Biggest impact on the coppers. Is that polar guy beat? Oh, that we saw play. I was state. I believe he was the number 88 guy. One of the biggest. Yes. Yeah, that guy, the one that just was Tom Herman and that does that whole staff 88 blind that day. That was crazy. Yeah. That was insane s. Oh, yeah. Coach Steve has taken over a talented roster, You know, then let's let's take a moment and just say that, you know, Tom Herman. We don't like the final record. But, you know, they brought some good players to Texas here or no in bowls. No cupboard is not bear. Not gonna be mad at you, Tom Herman s Oh, yeah, Why not be able to hit the ground running? I guess you could say was made maybe the in the first line of his legacy. A Texas is Tom Herman's handling of the eyes of Texas singing of the school song. That was obviously a big controversy this year. And, of course, Sarkeesian address that yesterday. Well, I know this much the eyes of Texas is our school song. We support that song. We're gonna sing that song. We're gonna sing it Probably. I think when I come into the fold, I think Any talks that need to have whether it's about the eyes of Texas or any other issues that come up. I think it's having the discussions. We can't put her head in the sand and act like things aren't happening. We have to really have those discussions with them and educate our players to make sure that we're all on the same page and understanding that I think sometimes there are tough discussions that need to have that need to happen without speaking to candidly. We're living in a country right now where there's some turmoil going on. But as long as we can have those discussions and be on the same page, we can do that as it pertains to the eyes of Texas, and that's our song, and we're Fired up to sing it, and I know you want to jump in there. But can I just real quick course you can be. I love this for this reason And this reason only I love you so much, You know, because now he can hit the recruiting row road and I know Ed's gonna love this, and that's just part of the deal. Like there's no coming. You're gonna understand that. Yeah, they're going to talk about it. And I did. And I appreciate it the way that you can have conversations about it. But guess what. Bottom line. You sign a letter of intent you want to play? You're going to be a part of that history of singing eyes of Texas. Now, you know when this was an issue in the middle of the season, you and I I think we're sort of on this and I don't want to put you don't want to put you in any position. I sort of said I'm I thought I was going to. I'm agnostic on the eyes of Texas. But if Kat guys said that they don't want to sing the song that I say you should not be forced to sing the song that you were more on the side of this is not. It's not a racist song, and it's a school side. I should go out there and sing it. Sing the song I Know. You know, We're all excited right now of about Steve Sarkisian because he's undefeated, but he's you know, he's out here saying, Guys, they're going to sing this song, all right, and then, like, Look right or wrong. I am just saying that's a great move for him, which obviously, if that was If he was that well, thought out of response probably was a conversation with all those people that he listed when he started that process. Kinda wanna know when he says in there. He's like we don't have to talk about it to candidly. I'm like, no, let's talk candidly. About what what I mean here. I gotta believe me, You know you're on to something. I think he was told quickly. We're going to sing the eyes of Texas. That was an issue last year with Tom heard Herman and the message didn't get through by crystal contact to Tom Herman or the regions, and they just said point blank. That's our school song, and we're going to sing it. And quite frankly, don't know what they're talking about. When they say we're gonna have discussions. What does that mean? Well, what Someone does think that and I think you don't want to talk about why there was a He's trying to recognize that. Yes, we har living in a in a world with it with turmoil and there Our social social justice conversations that need to be had, But he you know, he punctuated by saying, Hey, we're going to sing the song. That's our song. We're gonna sing it. Is there going to be I mean, could that be an issue? Is there gonna be an issue with players? I think that it is again. The players are probably in the same mode that you are in that we are Vito and that everybody, There's optimum optimism right now. Hope springs eternal right now, you know, Tom Herman message had been getting stale. He turned off part of the locker room, and it was just easy..

There's a little game that Texas doesn't play anymore. About 90 miles to the east with the Aggie is, Would you be in favor of putting the AG ease back on the schedule and playing Texas and him again that so many Longhorn fans would really want to see. I would love to play that game. They'd be great for the for the state of Texas, but look forward to it. Home. That's it. Excellent work at Clement's that you know for your first. That's the first time you've ever spoken to coach Steve, right. The first time I've ever spoken the coach Nice icebreaker. I love it. Love it. I didn't screenshot it my camera for the guy's name so I would give you credit. I may be. Your first name was Jean, but he was responding to. I think, either Bob Balu or our guy Brian Davis is tweet on the matter. When maybe who said was that Brian Davis, who said that your Mike wasn't Tom, you get on zoom. I think somebody responded to that, as saying over under 2.5 minutes before, Ed asks coach If if we're going to play in them, and then he was anyone? Yes, and he responded to his own tweet saying I won the under. Well, good, good. I think that's a very that was as only question. I love that very valid inquiry. I wanted to ask him just, you know, kind of gruesome. But who's the starting quarterback? Do something like that? But I don't want to sound like a total jerk and stuff. No good job. Good job like that s so Yeah. Head came back yesterday and reported that Steve Sarkisian said all the right things. I've seen that sort of review. That sentiment echoed over the last 24 hours of people saying impressive introductory press conference. Perhaps the part that I like the best that I'm reading about today is that he says we're gonna win and we're gonna win quick here. I'm honored, Humbled to be the head football coach here. Our job is now to align The donors, the alumni, the ex players, the current players, the recruits and pushing everybody in the same direction to go achieve the greatness that we want to achieve The Longhorn nation. It's time to go to work. Clearly, you guys have privacy. My mantra. This work will be all gas and no break. Seven. Full fledged will lay down on the hammer and go get it. But at the end of the day to put on the burn orange and white and to represent this great university in the great State of Texas is one I don't take lightly and we will go for it. To the highest level. Welcome, Hey, said he did not think that it would take a quote. I don't think it's going to take us long as many might think. And quote. Uh, some women, Addie, that's what he was referencing. Well, he's a smart guy, too. Did you know to whom he listed first? To the donors to the alumni to the ex players, right? He knows who brought who butters the old proverbial bread around here, and you know what else was also, that kind of just was lost on me. Yesterday. I thought it was cool that Vince Colt and Michael Huff or there but weren't Vince and Michael Huff. They were the defensive and offensive players of the carefully ain't Yeah. Put Texas beat us. Wait when Coach D was on the opposite side, so that to me is just so surreal and they're like they were there welcoming home like excited, and I just again think that Is such an indictment in a positive way of the player by in already from active former and people, the recruits and if you missed it last night, Brennan Eagles tweeted out a little shade. Did you guys see that? Maybe, you know? Yeah, that was interesting. Just build authentic relationships with the players. I'm paraphrasing now, but please calm a coach Sark be the indicating that he did not have that with the with Tom Herman. Which look, we know that that was the problem with Tom Herman was that you know. He clashed not with just with some of his players, but I just hit the nail on the head when Steve Sarkisian mentions the boosters first, you know those there, you have to look, that's what the job in Texas is, is making sure that everybody everybody's cool. Everybody's on the same page. And I feel like that's a thing that Charlie Strong didn't even try at. And Tom Herman was real bad at S O. Yeah, the fact that coach Steve Is all aboard on that planet. He at least he's off to the right. Start on. Look, I love the idea. Him understanding that we're the Texas This fan base is expecting you to win and win soon. All right, so it for four years from now, if Texas is in another seven and 58 and four situation And talking about changing coaches again and you're gonna have these people come in. You come at me. They've called this program plenty of times before and said, how come you don't give the coach a chance to set up his? You know you did. You didn't even give him a chance. You're fired. The good strong after three years, fired Tom Herman after four years, coach Steve says here from the beginning is going to happen faster than people may think. Well, we expected real fast, Steve. Expected real fast, Jason, if if you just get it if you just showed up to the job, and they handed you a piece of paper, and they say, Here are your assets that we are already starting with your like, Well, all right, all right. There's four and five star dudes on their You know what I mean? You're not. It's not like you're rolling up to can the University of Kansas and like Suri extract big things. Here's your list of assets and it's got Ah, lot of Gatorade, you know, you know, I just got a message from one of the Longhorn all time. Great defensive lineman from the late seventies, early eighties, and he says I like it when now. Yes, sir. I like it. When now, What do you think? A 3605 95 1283605 90 more on Sark. "They're great with their former players. They were great with the fans. It is a situation where you gotta wear a lot of hatch. You've got to go to that barbecue and bass drop and be a great person and then go to a board room in Houston and be that same person and people can't do that. Tom Herman didn't do a good job, but that Charlie Strong didn't do a good job, but that John Mack of it didn't do a good job at that. But Mack Brown did an extraordinary job of wearing different hats. And, as he said, putting all the babies back in the box, that's that's what being a coach here is because You're gonna you're gonna have somebody mad at you. Every stinking day. You're gonna have somebody you're gonna have people out there who think they know more than you do, And they think you'll have people out there who expect to have a say just because they give money to buy a sweet or give millions of dollars for the expansion of DK are You think they're stakeholder? That's that's the problem. I think well have at this university, but I don't know that you can reverse that problem. I think if you're the head coach, it is your job. Wouldn't Mack Brown say this? It's your job to manage that problem, too. You know, to massage that problem, I and, you know, I always sort of didn't care for his handling of these situations. But now that I look back on it, I'm like maybe that's what was required. You know, our friend Rod Babers was pretty famously, He was the sideline reporter for the Long one broadcast. And was critical of the team and back, sat him down and said, Hey, you're with us or you're against us, and he said All right, Then I quit on you. You've told me before about how Mac would get on your ass about if you're critical of the team, and I think that's because he is that position. He's the number one. He is the CEO of the brand and the least in my lifetime. He's been the one the only one who's been able to pull it off. You know, he's been the best at it. And Charlie Strong was real bad Tom Herman with not great, not great at it. Not great. And I wonder if Sarkeesian even knows what he's doing. Taking on here. I don't know. I don't know if he knows you're not because It's it's just and speaking of Mac Mac was that way because Mac would get on May, Mac and I are really, really I cherish his friendship. We message yesterday after after he got beat, and I cherish this friendship. But it was Rocky because Mac And he grew out of this mentality of either with us or against us, because I think by the time he left, he knew that Cedric Golden had a job to do Craig Way had a job to do. I had a job to do to be critical when you needed to be critical. So, but it's it is a It's A It's a crazy crazy deal to be head coach here. I don't think he have it in too many other places. You don't have it in Aggie land because those Aggie seems like they rally around their coach. All the time. And boy Jimbo Fisher into the year on a big note by meeting Mac, But they want to know where were you 15 years ago today? Uh, 15 years ago to that years ago. Today is today. The day is today going for the corner. He's gone it that chance young sores 15 years ago. Today. 15 years in about seven hours. I was running around six..

"This January 3rd 1993 Houston Oilers are up 35 to 3. Minute 41 into the third quarter. They would fall 41 38 about Frank, right. The legend of the Buffalo Bills back in the day. Also this day in history, Nick's saving decided. Hey, I'm leaving Alabama. I'm gonna be the Miami Dolphins head coach. Actually, vice versa. He left the Dolphins have become the head coach over at the Alabama Crimson tide. It worked out fairly well for them. Peter Burns, Katie George here on best week ever. Katie. It's time for straight talk brought to you by straight talk Wireless. You said that there's one key part that people are missing about Tom Herman being let go in Austin. Why that didn't work and start being hired might be questionable as well. What is that? Well, I think so often. When we talk about the job at Texas, All of it revolves around the boosters, and you have to be able to talk and schmooze with the boosters right because they carry so much weight and They're really the ones behind the decisions being made. And there is so much to that because you're not just taking the head coaching job in Texas to be an ex isn't Oh's guy. And, yes, Stark. Is that true? Because of what he's able to do it Alabama and just in his past, I mean, he's a brilliant offensive mind. But there is this aspect of it where you have to be a politician, But I think the part that people miss and I was told this story. Remember who followed Charlie Strong from Global to Texas when he took the job and then also was retained on Tom Herman staff when he came in was The connection in the relationships you have to have with the local high school head football coaches in the state of Texas. There's this God complex with a lot of these coaches at the high school level who feel Like they deserve consideration for this head coaching job at Texas. Where is they can't fathom that they would bring somebody from the outside in to take over that job until immediately. You're on the defense because these coaches View you as an outsider. They don't think that you're worthy of the job, and therefore they don't help you recruit in state talent. And so that was Kind of eye opening to me when Charlie Strong took the job because I remember being friends with a lot of people on staff at that time and just family friends until we asked, how's it going? The response that we got every time was. You have no idea how challenging it is to recruit kids from the state of Texas right in our backyard because they don't believe in coach strong now. I don't know if that changed when coach Herman came in, and they viewed him or as one of them one of their own. But I think it's a factor that people don't consider a part of the equation. When you're looking at who can be successful being the head coach at Texas I think Mack Brown has this ability to relate to everyone and make you feel part of it and draw you in. So therefore I feel like he had success with these local high school coaches. But if you don't have that ability You're gonna be starting well behind the start gate. And I just think that the high school coaches play a large factor in this equation that people don't really talk about. And I think Sam Macho brought that point up and it was great to hear. And that's why it's interesting to see Sarkeesian not necessarily known as the big politician, but he is known for being an extra dose guy and I will say this I did see a lot of people say, Well, you know what Texas is just left for dead. It will never be anything different than Nebraska. And that's factually wrong. The difference is now is that Texas can have those recruits. They're in that that pipeline of recruiting talent. However, like you said, you have to have the exes and Oh's. I think now at some point you can see what's Turkey's in did at Alabama and say This is why you need to be here. Also kind of gonna be interesting to remember the transfer. You'll have one time transfers more than likely coming up next year, and everybody just had a free your eligibility. How many people say I want to use that one year transfer and say, I want to go play over at Texas? I just all air Gilbert for tight end for l s u Unbelievable. 66 tight end type kid. It was great for the Tigers of First year. His name's in the transfer portal That could be a situation where Hey, all of a sudden they land there because see Sarkeesian is turning out millionaires in the NFL. All right, so much on the line in the NFL coming up Who makes it to the postseason, which team are contenders? And yes. Will there be snow in Buffalo for two hours game? I can't wait for it will break that down. Coming up. You can hit us up on Twitter. Katie underscored George of five myself at Peter Burns, ESPN. They don't want him anymore. They are a Texas It is a borderline psychotic booster system. I would say, almost gets frantic booster system. But also, hey, they've got they've got reasons to be. They got money, and they're not having the type of performance that they demand. And their fan base is passionate and it's You know, Because you're at the University of Texas. You're sitting on something. But I think that that programs forgotten what that is. You are sitting in a state where you're the big state school, No offense Day and M folks. But you're the big state school. Kid who goes to a kid who's from Texas. Kid who's from Texas, is either a five star athlete can run like the wind, whether he's a £330 defensive lineman who you have to trim down because he has the baby fat on him. Or he's already £137 and you gotta put some muscle on him. But he could fly like the wind is a five star athlete. He's gonna be great for you, or he's a kid who is a plumber. He's 3 to 1 star. But you know that kid knows football cause he's from Texas, so you can put him there in Oh, probably on a plane early for you because he's tough enough. Now those type of kids don't usually go to Texas. That's why some schools have some real success. Getting kids recruiting kids from Texas because At the very least, the kids know the sport. They are disciplined. They can do what they're supposed to do because they've been playing the game since they were five years old. I think this came down to hubris with Tom Herman. I think Tom home made it. And this is why I think that this is a good hire by Texas. Over the last couple of hires, and I hate to do this to Charlie Strong because I liked her. I liked Charlie Strong, and I like that hired two. I didn't I was questioning the Tom Herman higher. Swear to God. It made sense, but I still questioned it. Think guys go to Texas, or they get to a place like Texas. And over the last few years, I think they think they've made it. And I think they tend to lose what made them great. To lose that fight. To lose that struggle to get young people to believe to get young people in their parents to believe in him. you just heard it from burning Marcello, There's there's kids who were on that in that locker room. They don't want anything to do with Timerman anymore. And that's no secret. There's there's head coaches in college football whose players hate their guts, but they're still able to drive something out of them and get them going to where they need to go. And Tom Herman wasn't doing that anymore. Flat out. You're not supposed to be an eight win football team or a seven win team at Texas. It's Texas. Heard some of the most fertile football ground in the country, which turns out to be in the world. Is unacceptable. And I think that this has become a place and I think there's lots of programs that put themselves and after. How do you replace? How do you replace next saving some day at Alabama? So you went from 11 person to another. You finally then you got Gene Stallings, who? You remember when you went from Paul Bryant. You went to a couple of different people. Then you got the Gene Stallings. Gene Stallings. You want a national championship now? That was under some scrutiny, obviously later on, But James did. Gene Stallings still won a national championship. But he was a disciple of Bryant's You with the Bryant rotten that worked and then Get it up with a guy who went to a strip club and in a brunette. I mean, things got a little rough there for Alabama for a moment. They weren't Alabama. How do you replace saving Do you get a guy who's a Who's a big name? Who is a up and comer? Who is a guy who thinks he's made it because it's one thing and someone who will tell you if you if you ever have a career? It's one thing to get a job. Hold anything to keep it. And I think that Charlie strong and Tom Herman did what they could to get the job and I don't think they did. Obviously, they didn't do what they needed to do to keep the job. I have no defense. And it's not just with Texas. This is what the big programs have to fear. You got a great thing going right now, if you're Ohio State, what do you do? If Ryan Day does decide one day he wants to try out the NFL. You want a national championship? Maybe you went another one's at some point. It looks like you're gonna be on a collision course at some point, Ryan Day looks like he's got the goods. As you know, I was in the NFL. Maybe I tried. I've done what I can to college football. He knows that if he goes to goes the NFL if he fails, he's not gonna get the same type of job he had in Ohio State there. Yeah, that might be okay. Next seven did perfectly fine. Maybe he does. So there is there is a risk and there is a fear of the next guy you hire. You could only guess Mark Cuban has always said this. The hardest thing to do is to hire a coach..
