Bertuzzi sets up goal in Bruins' 4-2 win over Rangers

"The Boston Bruins scored once in the first, added a shorthanded goal in the second, and added two more in the third for a four two win over the New York rangers. Charlie Coyle started the scoring for Boston in the first, and then assisted on the bruins second goal. Everyone's calm, everyone knows what the task is and if things aren't working, we just, you play a simple style and play the right way and usually that works out for us. So I think it's just not always being perfect. Only you can be perfect, but just no one. What it takes is that given time and we've been doing that. Pavel Zacha scores twice as Bruins beat Maple Leafs 5-2

"The bruins stretched their lead in the Atlantic division by dumping the second place Maple Leafs 5 two. The bruins entered a season high three game losing streak and moved 13 points ahead of Toronto. Bruins coach Jim Montgomery wasn't too worried about their skid. I don't think relief would be the right words. It was about us getting back to our standard and our team identity. It was a three two game until Pavel zacha scored twice in a three ten span of the third period. Charlie Coyle set up second period goals by Derek forbert and Brandon Carlo. AJ grier made it three one early in the third. Mitch marner and Callie yarn croc scored for the leafs. I'm Dave ferry.

"The bruins want to match up of conference leaders by scoring twice in the third period to beat the golden knights three to one. Jake de bruss broke a one one deadlock two 11 into the final period off a perfect pass by Pavel zacha. I knew that JD was coming, so I would just make a pass through any score, but I think Halsey know making that play on the wall is really hard. And make the two one one for us there. Charlie Coyle doubled the lead about 7 minutes later. Lena Sue Mark handled 30 shots of Patrice bergeron also scored as the bruins improved to 11 and one versus the Western Conference this season. "It's all right, we need him to perform right now because there's no safety net of rats coming back. What have you? This is who you've got right now with Jeremy swimming elina sulle Mark. And who knows maybe Omar goes on a run, but the bruins I think especially would like to see swim and take that next step and performances like this, even it's only just one point. It's a good way to kind of build up that confidence because again just circumstance probably the class of the NHL right now. So I'm going to look pretty damn good right next to them in that game. And again, it's kind of went from being a pretty dull first two periods. All of a sudden, I felt like a playoff game. Kind of going to that overtime, right? So it was good to see swimming and really kind of handle that added spotlight that matchup and come away looking like a legit NHL goaltender, which is bruins thinking is. Yeah, and again, I mean, if he controls that rebound on their lone goal, it's a one nothing win. Again, I mean, obviously it's easy to point out those little mistakes, but that was a simple. I mean, that goal somewhat was his fault Mike Riley went down early. There were other factors into it, but it was kind of like, well, if you just kept crowd the rebound, you win that game one, nothing. But it's an interesting thing because that third period did feel like such a playoff atmosphere you were there again. You felt it. But even just watching from home, the first two periods were like, you know, they went by quick, but in the third period, it was very much. It was very much felt like a playoff atmosphere. And again, I also look back to how the bruins played a lot. I played their defense in this game because they packed it in a lot in the D zone. And again, someone asked me on Twitter as a rangers fan, I believe, asked me on Twitter and said, you know, do they normally pack it in like that? Or was it just because Martian abortion were out and I said, I think it was mainly because Martian bergeron were out. But it is encouraging that against a really good top 6 like the rangers have, even though they're not elite 5 on 5. Against a team like that without those top two key cogs, you held your own defensively, which is something we also have not seen from this team for a while either. Yeah. No, absolutely. Again, it may not be the prettiest brand of hockey, but if it guts out points when you're without your top guys and if you're in the playoffs and you're meeting up against the rangers, the hurricanes, the plenty of other teams that can bury you with a lot of goals, Florida, Tampa Bay. You're going to have to play that style of hockey, I think, just to survive some of these games against teams with considerably more firepower. So again, I think the bruins defense has been kind of a target in terms of areas to improve or whether or not they have the right personnel and again you had some misuse their Clifton at a global rough game. As you said, Riley was kind of sprawled out there. That's what it all just took themselves out. Yeah. It's a great detail to all be very physical with a bone crunching hit, just wish it was his own teammate. That's not great. But between that, you know, guys like Kahlo, I think really have to tighten up their game, I think everyone has more or less said that already..

"Do you think Erica is that guy? He's looked better as of late. I'll definitely give him some credit. But no, I don't. I don't think he is the solution going forward. No. I agree. I think he is a stopgap. I like him a little bit more than Charlie Coyle, just the way he plays a little bit quicker on puck's a little bit more like kind of he's great in the net front on the first power play unit with Nick foligno went down. But I just, to me, I think you still need someone. You still need like legit you see. And this leads us into. I didn't have this on the docket initially, so I apologize for just bringing this up. But I assume you saw the David creechy comments. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I saw those. Interesting. Gotta give creature credit, he was always very open. Like, I remember after the tomorrow actually tried to go for Java. Anybody that he said this? No, and it's funny after that it's so funny, like right after he leaves, they immediately are like, oh, you're not on the second line if you want. That's up to you. But it's funny after when the bruins went for John Tavares a few summers ago, creatures very outspoken when they came back in the fall saying like you didn't really love the balloons were doing that. He went on to have a really good year that year. And he was a huge part of why the bruins ended up being in the Cup final. That next summer, but crazy basically comes out and is like, why I don't get it, the coach never let me have pasta knock. How come now immediately posture not can go down to the second line? And I think it's, I think it's tough because I hate to be a fence sitter, but I see both sides because when creati was here, creature was like the main guy of that line. Now that second line is Taylor, I was supposed to be Taylor hall. That's the difference about it. I think create cheese well within his right to speak his mind. I think he maybe should be going at Sweeney a little more than Cassidy. Because Cassidy's trying to do like the best that he has with the guys that he has, and you can not past or not, that line was just so dominant. It was hard to peel them off. When the brooms were struggling, I would absolutely be like, you know what? We'll pass knock down, give this team like some new life. But yeah, I'm not surprised you made those remarks. I still hope he comes back that would be unbelievable. I didn't even get this team right now, the way they're playing would be nuts. You have depth. You don't have a ton of depth. Because you'd be able to. I still think they have depth, but creature would just make it so much better. So much better. I don't think another year straight to the hall, I say it a million times, but I would have loved to see it. And you're starting to see Taylor hall, you know, really start to get going with pasta now, which is great to see in pasta. Looks like he's got some more confidence, potted to against Tampa. Hopefully the floodgates open for him. So, yeah, I understand crazy why he said it and I mean he's always been open and I think he was well within his right to say it..

"You'd like when you want them to be with chuck? This is the problem where I feel like Adams is holding out. And if I'm atoms, I probably I take that contract. Like, oh shit. So that's what he's been waiting for is to get bold over by contract. That's when he's seen. You're like, oh, you going like bruins Reddit? And it's like, you know, potential I go offers like, well, it's got to be so nika or Mac and I and I'm like, guys, you gotta give it to get even if he's injured. How about Jack? I was rattled. I did not know that he was freaking that side, which probably means I'm not on bruins right at that much either, because apparently he had like an AMA and did all this stuff for it. But yeah. Yeah, if you look at buffalo there raiding it bold over. That's the kind of offer that they would take. But now you're looking from Calgary side and you're like, all right, like that helping out the team. And again, I think I could help with that team quite a bit. The playing well, I'm not sure how the NHL is about having a potential American born franchise center if he's healthy over in Calgary. But I think they've got bigger shit to worry about right now the NHL, so maybe. But yeah, I mean, right now it makes sense in terms of Calgary going out for them. Like you look at Vegas too they're in the mix, but it seems like Vegas is following the course that I think a lot of other teams are of like buffalo really doesn't have that much leverage here. So we're going to keep on short changing them until they may be bite on it because I saw one where it was like a lot of first round picks and some of their younger players like Payton krebs, which makes sense, right? "They've also granted have been playing against Florida with bobrowski who's unconscious and Carolina who's smothering teams like on both ends of the ice. So and it's also tough to draw a lot from these numbers because they played so few games. It's still 7 games. When Bruce gassy talks about the performance of all markets, Raymond, he only really tastes so much because they just don't have a set sample size. You can say these guys are going in the right direction, how they're building offline game to another, but you don't have enough of a body of work yet to even start to chart out reps for those guys or a narrative of how they're playing this year. They're still getting their feet wet. So I think some patients need to be preached in terms of where bergeron kind of falls in. But you hope for him, it's just about a PK finally leaks a bit and you get a great a shot from the slot. And it kind of goes from there. I think that's what you need. Because again, bergeron's overall production usually isn't tied into straight goals what have you. But you looked at at least to see some of that baseline production sort itself through, especially when you're not getting a lot of proven production right now at least from that top line and the power play. Yeah, and the other thing is, again, burst runs on the power play with the bumper and kind of being in the high slot for tips. You know, has been something that didn't just pop up this year. Last year's been doing for since Bruce cas got here. So as a matter of time until teams kind of shut that down. So it's going to be finding that next thing. You know, that Bernstein can be impactful on, which I think is similar. I mean, you don't want bergeron down there digging for pucks. Not really a net front presence. Would you want to make the point? Probably not. I'm not for overhauling the whole thing. It's 7 games. You said. It's one of you mentioned the scheduling thing. I noticed this when I'm writing about college hockey teams too. A lot of college hockey teams have been in weird schedule groove. So they've only played like 6 games or just a few. And it's like, when I'm writing about these teams, you have to preface it's only been a few games. When I was writing about Harvard and Cornell today, I was like, they've only played two real games. It's just weird. It's odd. I don't know what maybe that's a new storyline in the simulation. Now, teams have really weird schedules. But yeah, bergeron not panic time for sure, not panic time, but you just need some more. You just need a little bit more production out of a tree spurge or on. Before we go, though, I do want to discuss this is off the cuff. This is not in the pre show planning. So we spend hours. We spend hours planning a show folks. Hours, we sit in meetings and drawing boards and meeting. Yeah, we do story. We do a storyboard, which is our two phase, our two dopey faces, like with different reactions of like. Really? No, we should start doing for you not like a lot of like clickbait YouTubers will have reaction thumbnails where they'll be like, like we should start doing that for thumbnails for Jack, I go to the bruins..

"We look at advanced stats so much and we're so ingrained in the natural stat tricks and such that we almost miss or forget. Like the simple staff sometimes. I didn't realize, as you said, I didn't realize Taylor hall was second on the team. The other thing he has two goals in 7 games. That's what I just kind of always go back to. You're right though, Coyle is at a very, before the season you had said, if someone came and said, hey, you're gonna guess how many points coil has in the first 7 games. But let me tell you the scenario. He's on. He's on the second line in the center for a bit, then Craig Smith gets heard. He's pushed to the wing. They all cheese. It's been a really tough start. Hopefully he kind of defines this game. Yeah. Over the next ten games. But as you said, he's been great. He's been, you know, everything you've really wanted out of that position. I mean, you can't be mad with what you got. So as you said, I mean, hopefully for him, he continues on this route of just kind of producing and as we've said all year, you don't need a ton. You don't need 60 points. You just need them to get 45 to 55 points, and you're chillin. And Taylor hall to score and produce and you need Craig Smith. If you can get 25 goals out of Craig Smith, I mean, he's been hurt. So obviously him kind of getting healthy again and getting back into rhythm will help. But yeah, I mean, can't be mad at what you got from Coyle, thus far. But one guy who did I say this has not. It's only video and audio. So again, keep this for record. You know, you can't keep this for the record. Patrice bergeron zero goals in 7 games. Now goals are not everything. Goals are not everything this is not like when Charlie mcavoy has was a 2019 20 this feels like 20 years ago. I think it was 2019 20. It was, because I remember him scoring an OT goal. I think it's the black hole. Yeah. Yeah. And like February. Yes, it was it feels like a million years ago because of COVID, but in 2019 20 mcavoy had no goals through must have been what 60 games or something. There was a long streak. People said, oh, you know, he's bad because of this. Well, no, not necessarily. He's a defenseman, so it's different. But Berkshire does have zero goals for 7 games, only three points. Not indicative of everything. He's had some chances, but definitely need a little more on a burger on. Yeah, I think Bruce casting more or less echoed that where I don't think they're hitting the panic button. You know, it's not like, oh, his games, you know, lost a step or two. I think it's a byproduct of many things. I think Cassidy mentioned that the underlying numbers look good. They should generating a lot of chances. So some of its puck walk. I think Casa said they've hit the post one than any other team in the NHL. I mean, Martian was has that?.

"I am, it's movember. I've never grown facial hair before ever. I always shave and grant, I don't know. Most people would say, well, you can't really grow it. It'd be correct. Got them. But I got it myself on that one. But I am trying to see what it comes of a mustache. I'm gonna give it a shot. Let's movember. It's an important cause. I'm gonna give it a shot. It's gonna look probably horrendous. Remember Sidney Crosby back in like the late 2000s. Play off my sister's awful. If it gets to that point, I think we're gonna have to take it off, just gonna have to do it. But I'm gonna try to be in there a little bit, but. Yeah. I can't let it get too far. I'm gonna give it my all. Here's a bet that I don't know if it's really safe. But it's come to fruition. Charlie Coyle's been good. Charlie Coyle is currently tied for I believe third on the team in points with 5. Yes, or tied for second, actually. With Taylor hall and David poster, I shouldn't expect hall to be second. But Tod for a second, in 5 points, three goals two assists. He's been good. You've got a lot out of him. He's looked good on the second line. Shout out to me, by the way, I picked him up in fantasy. I picked him up. I drafted him. It was like last round pick in fantasy hockey, which I actually I'm enjoying this year 'cause I can watch all the games on ESPN+, not a sponsor. But I just forgot he's been good. So I've seen firsthand how good you can be. But it's not just points. It's kind of this whole package deal because this knee is fixed. It's crazy what happens when a guy plays these about injured. What have you seen past just the goal scoring? Yeah, I think for him, the most promising thing, he's kind of getting back to his strength and we've talked about it before that last year. It wasn't just the fact that Coyle wasn't producing. He just kind of didn't have that same trademark kind of coil game where even though he wasn't maybe racking up points, he was still holding onto the puck extending ozone possessions really kind of bullying past opposing skaters. You don't see that much last year. You're seeing it a bit more, and I think maybe the most encouraging thing is, you know, he's never going to be a guy that I think is going to really pep of the net or really get a lot of shots on goal, but he does seem to be a lot more comfortable in the ozone in terms of taking kind of those that initiative and taking those shots now granted, I think maybe it was helped out a bit by the fact that he moved over to wing wearing Craigslist was out, which you always kind of get concerned. I mean, I think maybe the most encouraging thing for coil in terms of producing points early is that it hasn't really been like an easy kind of just jumping into this second line roll, right? Like Smith is hurt, so then he's pushed to the wing. It's not like Taylor hall has really been on fire to start the year. So it wasn't like, you know, he was just put into the spot and he had two guys that were firing on all cylinders. He's just racking up secondary assists to what have you..

"So it's easier said than done when it comes to finding like that that's set replacement there. If you were going to look at the last two seasons, Matthias echo made plenty of sense because there was like a legit vacancy there where you're like, all right, we put him in that core. You're good to go. Now forwards in the mix, Riley's in the mix. It just makes it that much tougher right now. You only kind of look at the way the roster set up and more or less the only real vacancy you could maybe address that without having to move establish contracts out of the way would be Clifton on that third pair right side where is that where you get just a value pick up there? They may be stabilized it. But is that going to let's say, you know, get like a Kevin Miller type, like Kevin Miller when he was healthy it was effective in that third pairing role. Is that going to drastically revamp the entire decor? No, it will help. But you still have like, you know, whether it's, you know, in a perfect situation, you'd like to have macro inquiries like out there all the time. I mean, look at I look up the numbers earlier. I think since 2018, the bruins have a 5 O one to three O three edge in shots on goal when macro incorrect are on the ice. That's pretty good. I would imagine Bruce Casimir be more than happy with keeping that pairing out there. The problem is, when you do that, you've got forward with Clifton, who they've been scored against 5 times already, not great. And then and then as much as I think Riley and Carla weren't intriguing pairing, you know, they had some promise last year. Have really done all that much this year. So you can't even of let's say the MacBook and grizzle gar buzz saw. You can't keep charting them out there when you have so many other weak links elsewhere. So right now it seems like it's going to be a lot of mixing and matching. I wrote something on Wednesday about how great looks more or less going to be their Swiss Army knife where he could be starting with maybe Carlo to see if that's a fix, but they're trailing by a goal. You're going to see him with mcavoy. I think he's going to be kind of put all over the ice to kind of see where he can best kind of put out a fire or help a need..

"Beach and the multiple different systems that failed him. So that's why he wanted to have guys watch it. But I think he was important also for bergeron and those guys to say in the room like we should watch it as a team because I kind of mentioned it before. As much as we talk about the culture and hockey needs to change and there needs to be significant progress being made, there's the illusion of change in which you hand a bunch of fat cat front office people that are pink slips or you fire coaches that were culpable before it. That's changed. Yeah, of course. Like no shit, that's what you should do when a thing of this magnitude happens. But for there to be actual change, I think it has to be coming from within the room within players on the ice to foster a supportive atmosphere to be there for one another. And so for the bruins to do that and you know, it's not just players speaking out, which I think is very important. You've seen that from multiple different teams. But to have that come from within the room to have it be a team wide thing, not like one guy speaks out and be like, guys, we need to get our shit together. If you see something say something like that's a no brainer to have it, you know, be a team wide initiative to all watch it and to talk about it and to have it be from guys like bergeron talking about to younger players like Jeremy swayman talking about how important it was, and the impact it had on him. That's I think a positive step in the right direction. And again, it's not like the bruins have gotten to the crux of what the issue is with hockey culture, right? It's just one step forward. But it's still a positive one when you look at taking it's not an individual approach. It's a team wide approach from the players that are going to be on the ice that are going to be the ones that I think are going to be the chief architects of kind of reworking and reshaping hockey culture to avoid a situation like this or never happening again. And Taylor hall spoke about this after a game last week saying, you know, hockey is too much of an old boys culture. And you see that. And you see a time and time again and you're seeing it now with bettman coming out in the press conference with Bill Daly and how big of just a dumpster fire that was of nothing of like, oh, look, we've done stuff. And it's like, well, you're not really doing much. I mean, the fact that you thought Joel grenville could coach that night for the GM up in Winnipeg, should keep his job. It just, it blows your mind. And I think it's great that players are seeing this Alan Walsh tweeted out. Allen watch loves to obviously kind of stir the pot. But he tweeted out earlier this week, you know, Batman should be gone. And obviously he's someone who's very direct and right to the point. But I think a lot of players probably feel something similar, where it's like, there's got to be change. And, you know, you mentioned the cassity comments about, you know, kids going off to juniors. All these kids, most of them left home, whether it be for college, all of them for juniors, or some form of league, leaving home. You could actually feel safe. That's the biggest thing. And I think to see the raw emotion of Kyle beach in that interview, says it all. I mean, if you're not moved or touched from that, I don't know what to tell you..

"Welcome in to poke the bear episode 68 Conor 68 the Fabian liesl episode. The Fabian lysell preseason number episode. I'm asmer now ski. That is Connor Ryan Connor. What is up? Evan, doing well. How you doing? I'm doing great. We are all kind of just sitting here waiting until the bruins play again. It's another big, long break. Kick off action again. I feel like I've grown a hundred years in these. I've now officially 18 years old. Pretty crazy since the last game. Pretty incredible. You're now 45 years old, so good for you. And thank you. Thank you for the birthday wishes. Well, I'm at least glad that we don't have a Wednesday Thursday back to back. I know I think we recorded one. Before the Carolina game and it was like, I think the top comments like, what the fuck guys, why are you doing this? We have sponsors and other factors outside of our control that play into that. So we're not doing it just to spite people, by the way, of like, we're in terms of going to miss a game and be getting caught up on stuff. So I'm thankful for that, but I am not thankful for another extended stretch of no games at all, which is absolutely brutal. Yeah, we're just doing it to piss people off this way. Oh, we missed last night's purpose. And it's also good to have, you know, you the listener know that we're gonna be out Tuesday mornings. There are Thursday mornings. You know what day something is coming out, which is good, which is what you want. You're relying on that download. So to speak. Relying maybe is a little heavy of a word, I guess. Maybe a bit much. But it's a hate listen. Who knows? Hey, listen, yes. Oh, I hate these guys. I have to listen. I mean, I'll admit I hate watch a lot of things. I hate look at a lot of things. I'll hate something and just watch it and then I get mad, but I'm like, I kind of enjoy being the story. It's purpose. It means I did. Maybe it made me feel better. I don't know. Anyways, first thing we will talk about today was the big news of the week. You had the tweet, it did very well. So congratulations to you. But obviously it's not about you. I should mention that. But the bruins came out and said they watched the Kyle beach interview together. As a team, Bruce Cassidy and Patrice bergeron recommended they do it. They did it. It was very powerful, Brendan Carlos spoke about it. Jeremy swayman spoke about it on Wednesday. That's leadership. That is real tangible leadership. That is what every team in the NHL should be doing is watching it as a team and denouncing it the way the bruins have done it. And I mean, you can sit there and praise the bruins and we will and we have and they're a really good team. It's no secret they have had great leadership for years. But this seems like another level of really good leadership out of them. A lot of teams have spoken out about this, but I haven't seen or heard of any other teams watching it together in the way the bruins did. Well, I think it's just a positive development in terms of Bruce Cassidy mentioned that he watched it and he took the angle either as from a coach or from he said he put it in the shoes of a parent or someone where a kid heads off to college or they go off to junior, you hope, you know, as a parent they're in safe hands in a safe environment, and that clearly was not the case with Kyle.

"Hall on your left. And you've Alfred Charlie Coyle, who looks great at the bruins game, by the way. It's not the pros game. The Red Sox game, by the way. It looks great. The bruins game, huh, Charlie Coyle. Him and mcavoy being there, along with you against the Yankees on Tuesday night now. Together. Yes, all blending together at this point. I also liked how when they were on camera at the Red Sox, I think you could see coil kind of mouth to his girlfriend like we're on camera right now. Yeah, this is what we're on camera. Don't do anything to do, but because that camera will be there for a while. So but anyways, yeah, back to hockey. But Charlie quill, I thought looked great. And I think this is, again, we've both said this. If you can just get 40 to 50 points out of him this year, if he could just be productive, if he can just kind of usher along or kind of go along with Taylor Allen and Craig Smith, that line could work together really well. And also we saw it on Taylor hall's goal. On Wednesday night where Craig Smith takes his normal Craig Smith shot from the right boards and they successfully break it out and haul drives the net hard. I'm wondering for you, how can a guy like Taylor home get the most out of Charlie Coyle and Craig Smith? Yeah, I think as you said on that goal was a great example of just how having hauling that line adds a quick strike element where, you know, with his speed and his ability to move in transition, kind of makes a goal happen out of nothing, right? Seem like almost like a harmless play. Like, wasn't even like a goal that Omar gave, I guess, so you had that kick save in a one way out to the slot. That was a kind of a loose puck that literally hauled his bead van and check two, like right there right out of the doorstep. So in terms of that quick strike ability haul adds to that. But I think with coil, especially.

"Here with Connor Ryan at Boston sports journal and Connor before we start. We always say who was a number 64. And we were we actually started recording and then I stopped and said, wait, who was the number 64? And I said, Bobby Robbins and lane mcdermot 64. And I was right. I sniped that. Sometimes sometimes you just gotta relish in your own good things that you do, and this is a good example of that. I got those right. I feel like that's I feel like that adds a few points to me in some way. Whether you're a stick tab, Evan, good job. Oh, oh yeah, definitely a pat on the back. But Connor, what is up? Evan, doing well, not recording from a Dunkin Donuts packing lot. So things are looking up. How you doing? I'm good. Yes, that was quite the scene. Honestly, it looked fine. I don't know if you wouldn't watch the video, but it looked good. The sound was good. Little ambient noise, The Rain that a pad is down on my car. Yeah, for those who love ASMR that listen to this, maybe you could listen to that and we're soothed by The Rain hitting the top of your Honda. Maybe that maybe that was a good thing for you. "If maybe the burns view grizzly as more of a guy that he's more effective because he's going to be playing 82 games as opposed to keeping the top pair and they're going to get a lot of points, but he's going to be limited to 60 games. You know? I think it's very much like a guy like Riley, I think where if you give him a full 82 game slate, you could probably give you a 35 40 points on the blue line, and maybe the bruins you'd add as the ideal situation. I'm just having him healthy. And then there and generating offense because even if maybe there's like, you know, let's say he's bumped to the third pairing, right? They may not be the ideal S.W.A.T. around. But if he's the go to guy on your third pair, and he's able to get you know 30 plus points. It's kind of like circuit shev with Tampa Bay. It's a good problem to have. You've got to play maker like that further down in the depth chart, able to get those favorable matchups. So I think definitely because it's due for another stronger year. I think you look at the baseline numbers of 20 points and 37 games. Pretty good. But I think there's also room for improvement as well. I think you'd be the first to say that as well. And you should see how he does how they divvy up the power play. I think with not only the fact that grylls like had some issues on that top power play unit, but also the fact you don't have crazy. You could very well have a situation with that top power playing units pretty drastically augmented. You know, we could have Taylor hall on there. I think Nick filino said that the advertise him being a bit of a knit front guy there could be mcavoy could be grizzly to give him another look. So a whole bunch of different ways you can look at it, but if you look at just how they use grizzly, I think that's going to be the big indicator of how they plan out for his season to go because even if he's a third pairing regular, he only sparingly sees time with mcavoy. I still think you've got a very good player that can get you 30 plus points from the blue line. You mentioned advertising fleet. I'm just imagining in my head. You know, they'll do like a sales pitch to Nick felina where they have the PowerPoint. Yeah, they have a PowerPoint. They're like, this could be you. You..

"They're going to say, you know, during the end of the regular season when we do our breakup Zoom calls like that it was something you just gotta fight through, but it's always interesting to get the perspective, you know, a year removed from it to see how bad it was because it was pretty noticeable. You didn't see those trademark coil shifts. I think we're all used to seeing. So you look at that, you look at his own individual health, plus the fact that he's got a lot more challenge around him. You know, as much as you don't have a guy like David Crane there, Hayley hawk is very well be the new guy that's kind of tasked with the job of driving plan in line. He might be on the wing, but I mean, we saw her last year where even though he's a winger, he's the guy that can make off inside of nothing great and transition can get jump started on the play. So I think he'd be a good compliment for Charlie Coyle in that regard. Plus, you have Craig Smith who I think we agree is a very solid complementary piece on a line like that where good to a player shot first guy. So if he's waiting down low if telehealth is breaking into the offensive zone, tricho is hold on to the puck shield in the puck from other players and you got Craig Smith ready to rip a shot. Seems like a good mix right now. Again, we'll see how it translates. We can look at all this stuff, and we'll see how it translates. You know, it's same with debras. Maybe playing with Nick folino in the way he kind of plays can rub off on Nebraska and he gets back to kind of that heady four checking style of game that we saw from dubrow scrolling in his career. But frankly, we don't know until we see it in an actual game setting, right? Same with same with coil. The pieces seem to work. Seem to make sense but until it develops out there, we still don't know. It's same with crayon hall. That's when we're like, all right, well, David craze is a playmaker. Taylor hall is a great individual player as well. Seems to work. And then it worked like that. It worked perfectly. So it all is going to depend on how they develop out on the ice. But if you look at the multiple factors working in close favor, you have to imagine that bounce back here for him, which, you know, could it be 45, 50, 50 plus points? I think the brooms would certainly take that in that regard if that's the line that's still driving play whenever that's around the ice. I take that in a heartbeat. The last time you put up over 40 points was 56 in 1617 and then 42 and 1516. So yeah, I mean, if you can get 45 50 points out of coil this year, you take that and run. I mean, that would be very ideal. And I also think it is doable given his linemates as you said. And also coming off of injury, he's one that.

"So Cassie's mentioned multiple times that he's the third line left winger. I think you need to keep him in that spot. That's where he's most comfortable. That's where he's generating the most production. So even if it's not a top 6 roll with creatine out. If he's able to give you 1520 goals in that third line, add some much needed secondary scoring. It's a good opportunity for him, and if he plays well, one raises his stock for a new contract next year. And you look at how important that role is, it's not a top 6 role like it was in years past, but you're still a very important piece of this team on the third line. You need as much as and howler intriguing candidates using the guy who they can bury the puck and add secondary scoring. And most like it's going to fall into rust kind of fill that role in that third line that as intriguing as it is, we really don't know that much about right now, how they're going to function. Yes, what makes you a little apprehensive with the brusque? Because obviously you mentioned kind of setting the bar low for a good season from this year. It's tough after last year because I really thought in 1920 that was his quote unquote down here. And I said, well, you know, he's on a bridge deal. He's gonna fight back so hard. Have a much better year in 20 21. And it didn't happen. And obviously the circumstances you mentioned with COVID and the having to basically isolate yourself all the time. Don't exactly help. And definitely will be something that will be lifted off from this year. But I just, it's apprehensive, you know, I remember had some about it in a sense. Can I really pencil him down for certainly a bounce back? I mean, again, you look at just this page 5 goals, 14 points, 41 games. I expect him to have a lot more than that. And again, a lot more as you said his 15 goals, 20 goals. And even just being noticeable. I mean, how many times last year, did you finish covering a game? And you think to yourself, oh yeah, Jake depressed. Did you first played? Like you almost didn't notice him using visible out there. So he's one that I'm a little apprehensive about. You know, after my big prediction last year, a little upright spot on this year. Another thing was Mercer and Jimmy, old friend of the show tweeted, what would NHL on Nick look like? And I thought I had a pretty accurate tweet about this. I said Jake de brusque has MVP written all over him. Jake rusk would be like the prototypical Nickelodeon most valuable player or whatever that is. We gave Mitch trubisky. Absolutely could see Jake breastfeeding like slimed or like loving it, you know?.

"You know, if they get to that point and swim in is kicking ass and Omar kicking ass, I don't know how you just say, all right, well, swan you run it down to Providence, you know? You're gonna go to plenty of HL. I don't know how that works. I don't. I don't. And again, even if rask is fresh, if those two roles are hot, they're hot. So that's something that we can't unpack. Now there's no right take right now on that situation. That was not something we will be able to accurately assess until the season gets going. We see how the goalies are playing. And again, I think if Omar or swayman starts to falter at any point, I think you're going to see every beat writer writing the story of when is rask ready to come back and when can they have that signed immediately? But it doesn't point to Omar, so I'm struggling. But we will see. We will see. Joseph lapa asked about the game of music. He said, when the game of musical chair stops, pretty quickly the centers from two C to four C already did answer that earlier. Ethan lacrosse has a good question. Who do you think will have a breakout year on both the main and the AHL roster? This year. To me, I think Charlie Coyle's a good pick for a breakout candidate on this Russia. I don't know if that's what you're looking for. If you're looking for a younger guy, it doesn't feel. I mean, maybe Trent Frederick scores some more. Maybe. I don't know. To me, it's Charlie Coyle. You know, he's elevated. He's, you know, he is someone who now has a much bigger role he's with better linemates. You know, there's not really anyone to take his job. I know he said on videos to earn it and all that stuff and I get it. Obviously, you're not going to come out Charlie Coleman come up and be like, oh yeah, I get all the second line center on the air David. No, but at the same time, I do think a guy like Coyle is set for breakout year coming back from injury, healthy, better line mates, you know, kind of a better job, a little more job security. Yeah. You know, in need of a bounce back year. So yeah, I do think he'll be the quote unquote breakout guy that you'll see another guy's Derek forbert, you know, does he 3 million is a lot for him right now? Does he live up to that? You know, I think if you want him to live up to it, he needs to be a really steady shutdown presence on that back end, who you can consistently put up against other teams top lines and have him shut them down..
