Voter Suppression, the Real 'Big Lie'

"So back to the political science professor from university of Georgia Charles S bulloch the third. He said this regarding Biden's assertion about them cutting ours. You can criticize the bill for many things. But I don't think you can criticize it for reducing the hours you can vote. Fact checker said the law did make some changes to early voting. But said experts say the net effect of the new early voting rules was to expand the opportunities to vote for most Georgians, not to limit them. So it's just, once again, not true. But boy, do they believe that these dastardly voting laws pushed by these racist people are designed to suppress the vote, even though as ami Horowitz found out, we're going to east Harlem. People had absolutely no problem getting voter ID.

"Lawyer doctor. They're great at what they do or they wouldn't be in business very long. But the irs comes. Cohen thorough lost their second base. They don't know what to do. They're what they do. They may be very smart to do. So outsourcing payroll to me is no brainer. It's one of those things you should do and we do it in. Our competitors are reasonably good at producing checks when the problem arises. They don't have the professionals on staff to solve your problems we. That's what we do better than anybody. Else's word concern we're basically insurance for your payroll. You may never need some of the specialty that we bring to the table. Hopefully you won't. But forty percent of small businesses. Get penalized every year by the irs. To the tune of eight hundred dollars on average. So if you didn't get one last year this year next year so give me a call now for those that are the do it yourself or is that would probably think well i could just learn about this now for those that are trying to learn about it or they have a general knowledge. That's time that they have to take away from their business. Rather just to learn about all the little concepts to all of this all the time. As well i keep up on five emails. A newsletter is a week from the irs. I read the traits. I studied this stuff. Why teach on it. I go to classes on it. I had this conversation with an engineer. Number of years ago. I done of a tax return for any general charles. I can do what you do. I said steve absolutely go back to college will take about three years. Spent twenty years in the field. Doing this you can do exactly what i do. But you know steve. If i go back to college for three years in your field and then work in your industry for twenty years. I can do what you do. I'm just as smart as you are. So what okay they deal. You can't do it today. And i can't do your job today so you pay me new yours. You pay me to do my job. And i bet you do your job. "And how can they learn more about your product in your specialty well. I'm glad that you asked my newest book. The payroll book a guy for small businesses and entrepreneurs a thirty years of wisdom still down to ninety five thousand words available on amazon barnes and noble wherever fine books are sold or at the payroll book dot com. We provide payroll service medium sized businesses around the country a payroll and payroll related services We can work with benefits and books Hr but our unique selling propositions compliance were specialists in payroll and employment tax compliance. We know all the ins and outs. I been living this thirty years. I've been a member of the internal revenue service advisory council. I am a us tax court practitioner which allows me to represent clients in tax court without being an attorney but to do that i had to learn all about evidence and procedure and so on which allows me to do that. But i'm unemployment tax specialist in in we keep our clients on a hot water and when the irs screws up and they do constantly we can fix it The irs at night in fiscal nineteen issued thirteen billion dollars in employment tax penalties were than half got abated by people. Like me. who know what they're doing. My favorite analogy on. That is that when i grew up. Palay was the world's best soccer player today it may be messier rinaldo but it was daylight one. Wesley so live is in the hospital the day but still alive but if you took him in his prime and he put him at second base in new york yankees uniform he'd be lost doesn't know the game the the rules nothing. He's still be a great athlete but he's lost. Well if you take a business for a small business a mechanic a dog a chef lawyer doctor. "And encourage them to bring it to you they will if you're closed off. They won't even if it's a good idea is they've learned that you don't want to listen to you. Might listen to this will. But they're not going to bring it to you because if just on their ideas before so if you already have a culture like that you're pretty much screwed a you better change it or you are going to be screwed. I've seen it over and over. People with with egos like that. That can accept input from from subordinates or associates they loose because people want to contribute people want to be part of the organization. People wanna feel like they're important. George washington crane used to say the easiest way to get along with people is to imagine tattooed on their chest or the words. I am important and treat them that way and if you treat them like they're important they'll feel like they're important and if they feel like they're important though when it contribute wanna help the wanna be responsible organization work sculpture corporate culture and they don't teach that school at least they didn't what i what the wakened come into charles reed's class and he'll give us the rundown and all that masters class on you got it. I just did no. You lay it out That that is inspiring right there. I'm kinda motivated to go do something. I don't know what i need to do. Need to go do something. "I always like to hear from old timers. Just you have unique wisdom that generations that follow lack and definitely could use an old perspective which they can polish up and make something refined you you say that and i was reading a essay By gentleman it was talking about the newest generation and how they were bringing the the the the country to to to ruin and it was written by a clearly the elder in approximately fifty bc. Wow okay oh. Every generation thinks the new one. That's funny we repeat history but also repeat silly philosophy. It's just what your experience in life with. All view of complex just outside of business context but as far as I would say humanistic understanding or or just a present look at the here and now when you reflect what was what what brought you to recognize your life and what could you do in in what you're doing and how did you start looking forward from whatever experience that made you start to look forward if that any sense. I'm not sure it does. But there's there's a lot of points in your wife that that are meaningful you know early on graduated from high school your first job the first time a bullet was by my my left ear. Not my right when my left one and ask myself charles here. Yeah my marriage I love my wife. We were married for forty five years for. She passed the most important person in my life. the loss of my eldest daughter cancer loss. My wife to to a series of strokes. These things are all you know focal points that the change you. What but somewhere. Along the line i determine through my reading and by studying the happiness a condition that you choose. Choose to be happy. I don't succeed all the time but I choose to be happy and this is something that people can learn to do. You can be happy almost anywhere almost anytime if you choose to be a possibly. It goes back to a book. I read when i was fourteen having trouble in school. And my father to me psycho cybernetics by maxwell i think and it's it's all what shoes if you want to be important. You think of yourself as important and other people will think that way. It's almost you know fake until you make type thing but if you decide to be happy if you decide to be successful if you decide to be wealthy if you designed to be desirable Whatever she's that practice that go after it and you can become that. I've chosen to be happy so for the most part. I'm i'm a happy person thursdays. There's times you know. They're what they do. They may be very smart to do. So outsourcing payroll to me is is a no brainer. So if you didn't get one last year this year next year so give me a call now for those that are the do it yourself or is that would probably think well i could just learn about this now for those that are trying to learn about it or they have a general knowledge. That's time that they have to take away from their business. Rather just to learn about all the little concepts to all of this change all the time as well. I keep up on five. Emails newsletters a week from the irs. I read the traits. I studied this stuff. Why teach on it. I go to classes on it. I had this conversation with an engineer. Number of years ago. And i know you do your job. "The question of whether culture should or shouldn't be registered as a juggler and made it clear that in his mind spiritualism itself was not on trial we also managed to get an dig at the press for suggesting that this was the case said quote the performance of singular and extraordinary feats of wrappings answering questions enclosed in envelopes. And the like publicly and for fee and reward will not be seriously contested. Perhaps admitted the peculiar defensive. The prisoner can only gather from newspaper reports in public rumor which assert that. The prisoner will prove or attempt to prove that in the performance of those feats of apparent ledger domain. He is the mir instrument of spiritual control and that he does not practice sleight of hand. While i can see the inestimable value of the press. I cannot forbear the remark but it has been made the instrument of magnifying the case into undue proportions to the public to believe that it is a contest between the united states at a large body of citizens calling themselves spiritualists and endeavor on the part of the former to crush out a religious sect and to expose its heresies if it has any that the result of this trial will establish the fact whether spiritualism is true or false nothing can be further from the truth. The result of this trial can accomplish. No such thing. It is a simple inquiry whether charles j colchester is practicing sleight of hand under the guise of spiritual control. And if he is it is quite as important to profess spiritualists that he should be exposed as it is to the public whom he is deluding into the government which he is defrauding over the course of the trial many of colchester high profile clients a lot of them politicians testified that they believed entirely in his abilities as a medium but the damning testimony came from people who knew magic. Including from a man named james rogers magician's assistant who had worked with colchester briefly. He told the court that he had seen colchester using his foot to create a rapping sound by striking the legs of tables but he also said that colchester himself had told him it was in the parlance of the day humbug. According to rogers account colchester was holding eight to ten seances a day making one or two dollars for each one and restricting attendance to only one or two people per sitting presumably so they would be unable to detect his first another witness. James connally testified that he had as a client witnessed colchester switching out envelopes that contained questions for him and we're supposed to remain sealed and surreptitiously opening the original questions. We could answer and a psychic another witness which is a physician named walter. M fleming saw culture on several occasions witnessing among other things the blood riding upon his arm the witness at one point presented colchester with questions sealed up in cans to see if he could answer them but colchester on consecutive days of trying told fleming that spiritual conditions were not favourable for answering them the case preceded on in this way with character witnesses for colchester and detractors describing his trickery for what it was on august twenty third the jury after hearing the case. Return their verdict. They found that charles. Colchester was a juggler and this verdict actually kicked off a lot of fear in the spiritualism community even though the district attorney had said that was not the intent at all but a lot of practitioners worried that they too would be tried by the government over taxes and discredited in the process there were queries as well as to whether colchester had been given a fair trial or if the whole thing had been framed in bias from the beginning despite those remarks.

"Colchester was arrested in new york in august. Eighteen sixty five for what may seem on the surface to be an odd charge. According to a newspaper account quote. Charles j colchester a leading medium. Only second to the famous human notoriety as spiritualist has been arrested on complaint of the collector of internal revenue for the twenty eighth district of new york on a charge of practicing juggler without a license. Okay if that made you giggle a little and it did me when i read it. Juggler e in this case does not mean literal juggling. Although that is certainly a way that word can be used. It is referring to trickery or manipulation and in colchester case sleight of hand specifically so culture was taken in for tax evasion because he refused to register his profession as a juggler. Colchester had been practicing in the rochester area in the spring of eighteen. Sixty five when the assessor of internal revenue. William h rogers instructed him to take out a license. As a juggler colchester refused. Although we offered to take out a license a spiritual medium. There was no license for that and riders told him that based on the information he had colchester was indeed. A juggler colchester was arrested and a complaint was filed with the us commissioner. The medium appeared for a grand jury and was indicted and the case was sent trial. His defense was that he was not in any way a magician or juggler but a legitimate spiritualist and so he should not have to register as something he was not this really kind of turns the trial into an instance where spiritualism itself was being debated as the same right up. Put it quote as a result of the trial will be a legal decision as to whether the phenomena of spiritualism are supernatural or mere feats of juggler. It will be a very interesting one and strongly contested. The prosecutors plan on calling a range of predators to confirm that colchester was indeed a sleight of hand man and the defense plan to bring in spiritualists to testify to colchester legitimate abilities. Cultures claim was mainly that he was closer to being a member of the clergy than a trickster when the case began on august nineteenth eighteen sixty five. The district attorney opened by laying out..

"Am like if the front matter was a guy right. Okay we're just southwest shit to the outdoor okay admiral the hype and the repeated weather delays the skype finally cleared for transatlantic flight on friday may twentieth nineteen twenty seven in the early morning hours. Charles lindbergh climbed the cockpit of his plane. The spirit of saint. Louis now probably seems like a weird name plane that was built in san diego and blown by a guy from detroit who grew up in minnesota but lindbergh lived in saint louis at the time in his financial backers to the extent that he had any from a racquet club in saint louis a part of the way. He convinced him to give him. Money was by appealing to their civic. Pride about like you know. How good would it be for. The city of every news story about this accomplishment. Had the words saint louis in them. It's crazy the plane flew. Because i always thought the spirit of saint louis was broken and meanwhile he and i are confused but just happily fundraising at the rec club. Season is so fucking so okay. speaking of which. Unless you've actually seen a picture of this plane up-close whatever you're imagining is more substantial than the actual plane. Okay so the spirit of saint louis was a single engine monoplane meaning it had one set of wings instead of the more common at the time to And like pretty much all decisions made in this plans designed. The decision to go with. A monoplane was all about wait. Okay one set of wings his lighter than to for the same reason the plane was mostly made out of lightweight. Wood covered in fabric right. So if you imagine a box kite with a propeller on the front of it your frighteningly fucking close so into so actually so. They went to so much trouble keeping the weight down. That lindbergh famously trimmed the useless white borders off the maps that he was going to use Far more importantly he refused to take a radio since they were heavy unreliable and hard to use when flying. The focal radio do anyway sand out sure. Yeah give us a few years. We'll build the pride of saint louis and we'll send it right okay. You know what happens when you don't have a radio so two hundred years looking for amelia earhart. That's what achieve veteran. She was eaten by lob strategies. That's a real theory by the way is real mind. Chief stressing migrate. Grandmother has a bunch of sex with amelia. Earhart like a bump on my hanging. It out fun fact. That is so superfund fact racking. Amelia earhart. Just the dispirited. Saint louis custom played for this particular job by company out of california called ryan air which was apparently on the verge of bankruptcy when lindbergh. First contact the more things change. Yeah fun fact. Charleston had to buy two seats. Just like me. Yeah so different riot air but yeah and close fitting one who's reduce try. Though so and because he had trouble putting the money together it was built as a rush job so the manufacturer originally said it would take three months but lindburg said you know he only had to this resulted in a lot of design compromises so like they started with plane that ryanair already made and they just kind of beefed it up with longer wings struggle wheel stride speaker fuel tanks and shit but they didn't have time to redesign the tail assembly. Which meant and. I'm just going to quote the wicky here quote. This setup resulted in a negatively stable design that tended to randomly introduce unanticipated pitch yawn and bank elements and the quote and well as disputed. The story that i've always seen attached to. This is that when they told charles lindbergh about that he said no. That's a good thing. It's unexpected fidgeting of the plane will keep me away. i can stripe heats car long trips. This most people brag about the torque their truck or whatever but how much can your does your random also so it would be hard to overstate. How fucking nuts. It was that he was doing this shit solo. Okay so lindbergh figured whole extra guy. That's a lot of extra weight. Plus he'd be taking up space that could otherwise hold more fuel but it's not like he could put the fucking thing on autopilot here planes back then couldn't level themselves right so he couldn't take his hands off the stick any longer than you could take your hands off the wheel of your car so on top of all that it's not like they were like you know signs you can follow along the way here. He had to plot his course on the fly with that reckoning rightly so like. I've been going this direction for this long amount of windy. So i should be about here. While flying the puck and plane at night enough to spread the map out on his lap. Hold a flashlight in his mouth plot. The course with his hands and like hold the plane. Study by pinching. The control stick between his knees cool man but that's nothing though want saw a guy eat an entire bowl of fettuccini alfredo and a separate side salad with breadsticks. While driving a stick shift that guy was heath that was i was waiting to get credited. They're all learn something about promising. Someone endless anything. That's that sounds more like all of a sudden. Yeah so i also need to emphasize how small the cockpit still perfectly satisfying though. Let's not forget that the history was very very small the area he had offended to still. Here's three why thirty two inches deep fifty one inches high. We give dead people more space than that. When we bury them it would be like trying to fly across the atlantic and in coach. Actually talk to pick his seat without paying for it though so seat actually speaking what. They're weird quirk explain. It had no forward visibility. Seems like the direction the plane goes is. It's the most of the time when things are going to tell you what some unanticipated yaw now and again going for a windshield or anything he so he could see his instruments and what was out either window on the side so we had window technology further strides forward. There was a really good reason for it and putting of bill. They didn't have enough telephone books for him to sit on the fuel tank in front of it so that if he crashed he would definitely explode and that actually forced him to change the angle of the plane to get a takeoff. Want you weird shit there. But the end result of the the only way that he could see what.

I was so nervous the night before my plan proposal that I kept waking up in a cold sweat over and over. I had the same nightmare about being followed by an invisible, man. But I never imagined. She wouldn't even show up for dinner. I thought something must have happened to her. I even started forming a search party until her best friend arrived at tell me she wasn't coming while. I was cooking proposal dinner in front of both of our families. She was moving out of our apartment, and now here, I was lost alone and completely hopeless wondering the cold streets proc. After a while. I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following me. I even fancied I'd heard the very same footsteps from my nightmares of the night before nervous. I started looking over my shoulder and walking a little faster, especially dumb, but dark alleyways. Then I became certain I heard footsteps real ones not an echo of my dreams. It was as if my bad luck had physically manifest it was following me. I started sprinting trying to get away from whatever it was. I made a spontaneous sharp turn then another doubling back on myself. But each time I change direction. I heard it ahead of me or behind me forcing me to move farther and farther away from my apartment. After running to the point of exhaustion. I suddenly realized the footsteps were no longer following me. I looked around trying to get my parents and realized I was at the foot of the Charles bridge at the late hour, this usually busy bridge was deserted. I'd never seen it so empty. It seemed larger than life like a medieval drawbridge leading to a giant's castle. I'm not sure what came over me. It was out of the way. But I started to cross as though the answers. I was looking for. We're on the other side. The nights seemed like it was getting darker the farther I walked across the bridge and the wind got colder. Suddenly my ice fell on an unfamiliar site. A small Red Cross in the center of the bridge. It glowed faintly its light reflecting the foggy air. We had often walked this bridge together. My would be bride, and I we had our first kiss under Saint John's arch on the rare occasions when we argued in I stormed out of the house. It was here would come to clear my head. I knew every inch of this bridge. And I knew as surely as I knew my own name that this cross wasn't supposed to be here. A chill ran down. My spine like wanted to run yet. My legs buckled at I fell to my knees in front of the crawls I hadn't prayed in years as the wind got loud or around me. I raged God until I had no anger left event. I begged him to let me die. Now, if I didn't serve even the slightest happiness if I was meant to feel so alone forever..
