Hall of Famer, 49ers great Fred Dean dies at 68

"News today. The big story of the day. Fred Dean has passed away. The Hall of Famer and former former 40 Niner great at the age of 68 was due to Cove. It 19 And for those who haven't heard, I want you to talk a bit more about him. But the NFL hall fame tweet this out that it was great his Hall of Fame speech and you're gonna hear Eddie D. And here is well, take a listen. I could consider being born by the truck. But having a renewal life with 49 being would afford it. I found it on the other side of that bridge on the other side. Wass rainbow, true ending of a rainbow. You know, Fred never said much. He was a quiet giant. But when the defense needed him to make a big play way, look to Fred and never let us down. Never no matter what the situation Wass. It's come time to put Fred Deans spectacular career. In historical perspective. First off, he was a pioneer. He was the forefather of the great high Bridge edge pass rushers. He led the way from players like Derek Thomas. Our own Charles Haley. Great Andre Tippett was being inducted today with Fred. And I'd like to say to the returning. A lot of vintage players were winded, please. I'm honored to be with such an elite group of guys is so important. The bottom line is I know I'm not going to cry. Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great honor, which I carry out with enormous personal pride present for induction. Intothe Pro Football Hall of Fame. Quiet, giant natural, great friend. I like to say to all those Here from from rusting. From Beauty college free. I just want I want all my brothers and sisters in price. I was well done. Ah, Eddie here call him the quiet giant and he has such a great Hall of Fame speech. I love and that kind of stuff happens is great. Wow. On how much else to say Eddie was At the induction. Just the words were perfect and, you know When you lose people now can you even have Ah Memorial of Hyun Roh? Howdy eulogized people of so many of our great you're dying and all the sports and Kredyt directly from covert 19, which is Makes it really sad but And he said it all. I mean, he just changed football and you look back on that trade. There was made and in our friend Dan Pfoutch. Maybe listening. He never got to a Super Bowl. He came close, and probably the closest was that year. What if she incline does not trade Fred Dean? To the 40 Niners. For the 40 hunters, you know, go to the NFC championship game in the catch and all that. And in front of the other side of it If the Chargers keep Fred Dean You know, Maybe that game is not at the Ice Bowl in Cincinnati. Maybe it's in San Diego. It's a home game. So Amy look at who won the Super Bowl. That year. That was a trade between two of the top four teams that went to the final 4 40. Niners won the conference championship won the Super Bowl because of Fred Dean. And the Chargers did not. So that's just one of those trait. I mean, you look at it. It's one of the biggest trades in the history of pro football and that it set the 40 Niners upto win again and again and again. And he was on the first two. So it's just a change history. There's no doubt about it. Yeah, a great tribute, Tio, Fred Dean and again, you can see that online. You can see Obviously the audio's really moving, But you could go online Social media today Twitter. And you can check it out onto the NFL Hall of Fame and really well done in a tribute to Ah, Fred Deans. There

"Rob happy new year rob Hey armor you his Charles Haley he left the forty Niners someone over to the cowboys but I want to correct you during his when he laughed yeah forty nine his work that they were in in the future if you sit right re years against the cowboys who came up short but that that was the beginning of the end of the forty Niners dynasty well kind of Florida because they were still pretty good until two thousand nineteen ninety nine right right right but that definitely was that was definitely something that brought the cowboys closer to the forty Niners that is true and the person who I'm glad this on my squad now is Richard Sherman how much did you dislike Richard Sherman act saying here Erica behind it I couldn't stay in here just like a like probably Wagner now I did not like Richard Sherman at all I could stay in him when he's pissed that passed that was in two different Crabtree invite card years all with that that's packed it in the future if we set out I was just devastated and then he goes on with their any edges he starts talking trash he's talking trash that day well contrary us in our this home thank you and now a I love him to death I tell I'm sorry I'm I go get it I like to get a Richard Sherman Jersey I don't know what yeah I you listen you win I'm gonna go get your Jersey Hey rob you have yourself a happy new year thank you Alan Toronto well the north of the border Alan welcome here on CBS sports radio my Benedict Arnold was Jack Morris you know he captured the World Series he was our arch rivals in Toronto here and he captured the World Series in nineteen eighty four just when the days were becoming relevant you know the there was our first year of going over five hundred nineteen eighty seven they rallied therefore have came down with a week to go and the jays lost seven in a row and he wound up in the ALCS and in nineteen ninety one we face them in the ALCS trying to win that Minnesota faced each other in the ALCS and he won one of the games and went on the character of the with the World Series right Hey the man because you know I found a very arrogant and cold to the media that mustache yeah yeah copyright nineteen to come to the chase and I am really ready for many when he was twenty one games in the purchase of the change over the top and they win the World Series and he imagine winning back to back World Series was won T. with the Minnesota Twins in the ninety two Jason he also won the World Series in the nineteen ninety three the ninety three World Series he didn't catch all that well in the post season and in either your but the you know he was on the team and finally gets into the hall of fame in two thousand eighteen with Alan Trammell after being snubbed for fifteen right for fifteen years he was only on sixty one percent of the ballot it was last year two thousand thirteen five and I was glad he got in but I I can yeah that was a guy who is if the if that thank you very much at all that was a guy who was you know if your Blue Jays fan watching a wanted to try watching a live in Minnesota that all of a sudden I hate that mustache that must Alek guy with a mustache she pulls the stairs up there a top our kids to the for me hold me about was so good I would grow a moustache just like him Taylor Jacksonville welcome your on CBS sports radio hello so I'm from Jackson but I'm raised in northwest Indiana Die Hard fan so one of the things that killed gain wide we gave the Packers Adrian our aim those and we got a ha ha Clinton and I didn't know how that was going to work but despite the record I actually loved well ha ha did this season if you could stand you probably thought of his name you the guy you just looked at it like that I like I think I'm going to I think I think we did years ago what yeah why do we get him a long time ago I love this guy and it's one of those situations where you're like man we already had everything we needed why are we trading thing but obviously our record declined but I love how high in Adrian's doing good in Green Bay but I still care for him but it will tell you something yeah I'll tell you something to make you feel a little bit better I've interviewed him a couple times he's really good dude yeah yeah so am I glad that you like him are you like all the voice of the interest of Alabama says he's a really good guy so I've talked to a couple times I think you are you are well within the margin of error if you really become a fan of Clint ha ha decks what happened what's wrong with the bears is here well so much inconsistency on all the all the quarterback play in skill positions we was awesome because back in the order your birthday it starts with him but it's you just get no flow I mean I I watch the games and there's just there's just it's always it's always herky jerky like transmission of data gear yeah I agree it's one of those it's everything that happened last year that flowed perfectly is falling apart this year right I had the judges that ski on my fantasy team last year he was great now it's just it's either feast or famine and you can't do that on the National Football League it is a quarterback I don't necessarily blame him but he's got to improve but he's got to progress and I don't think he's progressed effective in some ways I think he's regressed yeah I agree I think that last year he looked way better he looked way more consistent last year granted a lot of things that Nagy did last year where a lot more experimental Hey let's go for a fourth and two let's go for a you know like anything he wanted to experiment with and not miss a lot of that yeah yeah but as a as you get into the league and you stop being a fluke and you start getting predictable you can't do those things you actually have to eventually play football the National Football League at some still waiting for the bears to do Hey you have a great day happy new year to you yes happy new year to you thank you thank you let's go to tell real quick in DC how welcome your at CBS sports radio Mar rich or just want to thank you for my morning commute I did soon as I got in the car her to whining Dallas train so that just made my day well it's not great to hear I love it I love a little wine all they want I live baby Hey I'm calling to tell you about my benefits are the Sean Jackson he wants to wreck in Tampa Bay what's your out back in there yeah but you know I know it's father but the thing that makes it that much worse to me that when she was on that championship run that Superbowl ring will look really good on its hands that did you know what in the end I I was devonte bay when he came down the Buccaneers good dude his father's the military right yeah yeah yeah at the way yet yeah I do know that I'm sorry to hear that so model was away thank read it and that's awful his father was in the military and he jumped out and started taking care of the kids at McGill airforce base like nobody else the big deal airforce bases were set to common so Kambar so it's where they run the operations for the Middle East and it's where the special forces are how special forces headquarters are in there's there's like an elementary school down there there's a lot of kids and he would go out of his way to take care of those families bring up to the game that just a good guy it was and at B. he you know he speaks ill the waitress on Jack was racist brother who's a former NFL player documented this whole you know so free yeah well you know for me and I think it was like in years older he made it you know wrote so you know that in itself is a monumental feat so you don't have any back with the team and the way he's re had been if he would make it to the second round of the play all right now you know he'll be ready you never know Hey I'm gonna let you go see if I get to work how we feel it's the wife is still make the rest your morning commute a little hello I'm "Over the years and certainly my teammates. But a lot of other great athletes, and I'm just proud that we won. Okay. So here's the deal. Here's the deal. No Super Bowl had gone into the fourth quarter without a touchdown. So you're watching this you watch you watch the record breaker three three tie going into the fourth even though if you calculate these were high high-scoring teams, so generally speaking these teams averaged over thirty points a game, generally speaking. So think about that nobody was scored and this was all defense Brady oldest winning quarterback in a Super Bowl at the age of forty one. Bill Belichick sixty six oldest winning Super Bowl coach K. There you go. This is also interesting the ten point margin was the biggest. So, you know, again, the patriots Abedin there never times they've won it six times that ten point margin was their biggest in winning the championship. Brady was not the MVP. Yeah. You could say he didn't play all that. Well, but that was because he was up against a pretty stout defence Brady who has won four MVP trophies. Did not win it yesterday that went to Julian Edelman bride of Redwood City who by the way missed last season with an ACL. I totally had forgotten about that too. I know back that is huge. That is a major company. Wow. So Brady four Super Bowl MVP trophies six Super Bowl wins. He passed the great hall of Famer Charles Haley to become the only player was six Super Bowl titles. The patriots, by the way, if you just look at the stats, they were two and a half point favorite, two and a half point. So ten point win L A's offense LA's offense. They had the second ranked offense going into that game in the first half, the only at fifty seven yards total. Wow. Yeah. I think they had to punt on their first eight possessions or something like that. Yes. The Rams had never been blanked in the first half. This was the lowest score at halftime since Super Bowl nine when Pittsburgh was beating Minnesota tutor. Nothing had a safety. Youngest Super Bowl the oldest Super Bowl coach Belichick sixty six youngest Super Bowl. Coach, Sean McVeigh thirty three. Half is age half his age. Age. There was another for those of you keep track of this stuff another Super Bowl. I a sixty five yard punt that was in the third quarter from the Rams putter. So a lot of records lot of fun..

"The refs light up Amy's phone lines now eight five five two one two four CBS. Thanks so much for tuning in on this Super Bowl Monday morning, Kevin Harlan with some critical calls late on the Westwood One radio network. So Tom Brady at forty one Bill bell check at sixty six are the oldest quarterback and head coach ever to win a Super Bowl and they're not done yet Brady passes. Charles Haley for most Super Bowl rings by player. He now has a half dozen. And Bella check ties George Halas in curly. Lambeau for the most NFL championships by a head coach. And it was not the game that many expected. There was no high octane high flying offense. There were very few plays that went more than twenty yards. And only one snap was taken inside the red zone. How about that one snap? So you heard the rob gronkowski diving catch he curled around a couple of defenders and the ball was waiting for him as he sank to his knees. He was right there on the goal line. When he made the catch the very next snap was the Sony. Michelle touchdown. That's it. One snap inside the red zone for either of these teams. It was the lowest scoring Super Bowl in NFL history. And it was the only one ever to have no touchdowns through the first three quarters. Category considering the theme of the regular season was offense offense.

"It's a picnic. Stink. Centers, spins hands. Touchdown touchdown. And the patriots. It means a lot. There's been a lot of guys part of this journey with this team. And it's just been so fun to be a part of it. And just do your best every day and coach makes it a, you know, it's a challenging football environment is pressure is always on and for moments like this because you got to rise vacation, the reality is you, you know, you're getting these games. You just got to find a way to win and we played well in the end, and that's what we needed. It's time to pull on the pads and hit somebody on after hours with Amy Lawrence CBS sports radio. Tom Brady now becomes the player with more rings than any other. He stands alone atop that mountain. It was Charles Haley member who also had five Super Bowl rings. But now that's Tom Brady was six patriots six title in franchise history tying Pittsburgh for the most Super Bowl wins. And for Brady. He says whether it's an interview with Tony Romo whether it's opening night in Atlanta. He says he continues to say that he wants to play until his mid forties that that's always been the plan. "Cut the vacation short to come here on our anniversary. So she's she's a huge part of this. And she's a team player. And I appreciate that. So happy anniversary. You're the definition of being a good teammate and cutting our vacation short so thanks to everybody. Appreciate it. Thank you, take care. I love Matt Nagy saying his four sons in his post-game questioning wanna to get into the car the ride home. Could you imagine? After the Philadelphia game, dad. Why don't you guys that cut parkey earlier? Well, he answered that in that question. Remember, this award is a we thing. Yeah. Thing come to the year. So there you go. Well, you know, we've got a lot of predictions to be handed out a lot of predictions. You can take what you want from each one as you form. Your prediction for what's going to happen today for the first one we go to obviously the starts are day, nine o'clock cap and company, David Caplan, joining us right here on ESPN one thousand cap what's up? Are you guys doing good morning happy Super Bowl Sunday? Everybody you too. And we wanted to get your pick. And obviously you've talked to all week long about it. You've talked for the last couple of weeks as everybody else has about the Super Bowl any couple of keys the UC going into this game before you give your prediction. Yeah. I really think it's a huge key for the Rams worn under Jared Goff. Doesn't turn the football over with you know, stupid decisions trying to take shots down the pile up points early. That's one too. I think it's really important that Donald conch soup plays an amazing game. I look at this whole thing. And I think that they're obviously double team Aaron Donald has the bears. Did that cold night, Chicago great their defense was okay? Mitch was terrible. So it all play together. Here you're going up against Tom Brady goat. So I I really think Donald talk soup can have a big game a few play exceptionally. Well, and if he does and doesn't turn it over. I actually think the Rams win this game by double digits now if the Rams win this game. How do you see this playing out? Do you see because I'm with you? I think the Rams win today. But I think the way they have to win is by getting a lead early in putting points on the board in the first quarter and jumping on the patriots. How do you see it playing out? Yeah. I'm right with you. Chris we talked about it on the show this week together. If you look up, and they are seventeen three in the whole big trouble. Because New England doesn't self-destruct to let you back in games here and a half to try and score early. Get a couple gets on Brady was not been this post-season. So if they can do that come down the field. Get it touch Darrow come down to get a field goal pile up points. And if you get a look for Greg the leg can make a field goal that you're not some stupid sixty yarder. But you're a fourth to take the points. You've got gotta pile up points against this patriots team. So I actually think it's a fairly high scoring game. I'm not that impressed with the patriots defense. Obviously, Tom is great elements. Awesome. But I think that fun seven for LA is gonna come to play today. And if they could control don't even show and James white baking get the Brady and vacant win this game. You know, I'm gonna call it thirty. Eight twenty four my final cap your guy that likes to gamble a little bit. I think you you've mentioned at a time or two on the show. Not me. Where are you? Putting your money today? What's some prop bats? Where are you? Sprinkling? Your cash today. All right through a little bit on. Will there be a successful two point conversion? So I have a little bit on that. I have MVP Greg zero line and down mccown, sue, Aaron, Donald and Robert woods one of those four. I get pretty good payouts on all of them. I really think sue has a chance if the deed as I keep hearing are going to double Brandin cooks and double Aaron Donald that opened things up for me to have a shot at Robert woods. They run the jet sweep if he was the break one Robert woods going deep into maybe forcing bumbler to getting a sack or two all of a sudden you go. Wow. A random football. Well enough to get the end getting the end zone. Jared Goff threw a touchdown or two. But the star of the game was in at eighty one cap is we let you go any surprise to you that did not only the Matt Nagy was named coach of the year in the otters night. But the assistant coach of the year Vic Fangio. Yeah. That didn't surprise me when you coordinated group that is the number one defense in the league you've been around thirty some years that helped lead he's up a one that honor before. Yeah. I thought it was well deserved for Vic Fangio, obviously. Well deserved for Matt Nagy only guy thought that we got. And they didn't give it out yesterday. They gave it out a few weeks ago. I know Ryan pace was clearly the executive year because Chris valor did a great job in Indy. But let's not forget he was taking over a team that people predicted to have a pretty solid season with Andrew lucked back. He did a good job in the draft. But right taste took over a team by his own making was fourteen and thirty four for three years hired to right coach get a home run every single citing free agency, except as kicker, so I would have given it to him. But you know, Chris Ballard also very deserving candidate. I love the except the kicker. Join the game. We'll talk to you soon. You got it. You guys have a great day. Seacat David with his prediction now, he's got thirty eight twenty four Rams the one thing that he mentioned in even if the Rams get out to an early lead, which obviously people say while you're the patriots. You don't wanna fall behind? But we we've seen what the patriots do. It's Super Bowls when they are behind as soon as you guys mentioned, I think it was Adam talking about it. I'm I'm looking at you know, in my head Matt Ryan was holding his hand up. I can tell you what happens when you have a big lead at all you got to protect that lead. You gotta go out and score. And we know a lot about what happened there in that game with twenty eight to three and half. And all of a sudden bad things happened in the second half for Atlanta. So this patriots team they can win some of the numbers route with Tom Brady can do. It's crazy. It's like he needs to tastes his own blood first. And then he starts to get go. I know what you're gonna read. I've seen them like he needs to get punched in the face. I and he's like, okay. These are other ones based on the Super Bowl. Okay. He could tie. I'll bet I'll bet you almost nobody else would know this. If you're a diehard fan are you in the stats, but Brady would break a tie with you guys know the player who's got the most Super Bowl. Titles along with Brady two guys. Charles haley. Yeah. Charles Haley and Charles aliens great stories about Charles Haley, several why don't we want to tell him to Sunday morning because some of the things he did when he was with the forty Niners. Something about someone's shoulder know, something about somebody's convertible. Okay. And yeah, he was happy to win the Wendover down in the top was down. And he didn't have to worry about rolling anything down to do what he was going to do. But the patriots. Remember the phrase? It was always one for the thumb. Okay. Has got. Okay. We'll Brady's already get five. What do we what do we call on this one now because we went to six what is it? The secondhand see what you're going. Yeah. I thought I was going with something. Fifteen more digits on your hands and feet. I thought you were trying to make. Comparing to Charles Haley. Tom Brady and Belichick. The oldest quarterback coach do all Super Bowl history. One hundred seven years combined Goff and McVeigh the youngest quarterback and coach duel. How old are you guys? Thirty four thirty three. Yeah. I my life is compared to me. I'm older than McVay by thirty three years old. He just turned thirty three two. It's absolutely ridiculous sitting here. You look at the rest of the league go at this has come up with you know, some of the Rudy rule and a lot of the other things, but you see some of the other coaches that are getting brought in cliff Kingsbury thirty eight you got thirty seven year old guys. You got a bunch of young offensive minded guys being brought in Denver brings Vic Fangio. So I mean, a lot of teams have been hiring guys who are just on McVeigh's tax chain. Right. Yeah. They're buddies with him. So it's higher. That's not how it's gonna work because what you'll see Zona will probably hire new coach in three years or less, right? Like after Kingsbury burns out there. All these guys that got the gigs this way, it's not gonna work. Man going into the Packers. Well, and then you can see someone like Vic Fangio maybe sticking around or or even isn't Miami going to hire a defensive minded coach from the patriots. Yeah. Florida. So those are the guys that will work out in the fad coaches that are hip for owners hire because they want the next McVeigh, you know, that that's not gonna work out in in five years. We're going to look back, and look how silly these teams were the Rams quarterback coach it would this is over goes to the Bengals right, exactly. Oh, so cap mentioned some odds to win MVP in what he's putting his money on. So I wanna ask you guys a couple of questions about that. What is your strategy when you do this? Because I like what cap was saying cap has a couple of shots. I think that's why Super Bowl Sunday is all about put some money on some long shots and hope you hit a lottery ticket, right? Because I kept telling us when he's putting money down on the kicker, right? Like, nobody is going to win MVP and less less only score points by field goal. And he wins the game winning kick. Even then he won't get it. Kicker will never win a Super Bowl MVP show. So you look at the odds, here's how I think of it. I wanna I wanna get your opinion on this. It is most likely that one of the two quarterbacks will win right. So Brady or Goff. Okay. Listen hear me out. So if you're playing all the long shots, do you also put a chunk of change on each quarterback? Then try make up the money that you're going to lose on all the long shots. I think if I I look at it, basically. Examples someone I'm going to put money on today. We'll be Robert woods. I think Robert woods at plus five thousand is interesting because he might be not only a wide receiver will get a lot of catches. You'll say, oh, what about Jared Goff who get them BP? If he gets the catches Robert woods can also throw the ball..

"Young nucleus. But they've got a mixture of players that are a bit older. They've not been in this position before. Last year. I I looked at both teams, and it pained me to say I was gonna win. I don't feel that way this year the patriots. I think just nine Super Bowl insane for ballot. Check and Brady. Talking about a guy potentially. He's gonna win is six Super Bowl is a head coach and a guy's sixty per bowl as a starting quarterback. Which which for for those of you listening that right? They're winning that. That that kills the argument of who's the greatest of all time. That's that to me. Sorry the arguments over six plus you'll be the only player would six rings. Charles Haley and him each have five. Which is nuts. Which is just crazy. I just this year. I feel like it is going to be the patriots as feel like the way they play. I think I think you look at McDaniel Josh McDaniel, they're they're they're play caller their their offensive genius. Who is is is is cooked up something, and he does well against teams like the Rams defense in the Rams defense is Wade Phillips like this is what we do. We don't do a lot of stuff. What we do. We do. Well, but you're not gonna see anything exotic out of our defense. And that's where they eat it up. So I'm thinking like thirty eight twenty four thirty eight twenty four ish. You know, I think the first half it'll be close. But I think it'll be tight because that's what happens, and then they go from there. That's going to be crazy. Three two three five three eight twenty four.

"All right. You take manning away from it the other ones undefeated, he's only lost two Manning's first overall pick in the playoffs. Nobody else is that interesting one. I don't think it's a deal. But I think it's interesting we've seen Brady beat people up and down the picks, right? One two three four five six seven one hundred ninety nine he's always going to be outmatched by the draft pick. And it's never gonna matter. Spain bits were doing interesting unique Super Bowl stats as we get ready for Sunday's game. Here's one for you Brady related if the patriots win Brady will set the record for the most Super Bowl wins by player with six if the patriots lose Brady would tie the record for the most Super Bowl losses by starting quarterback in NFL history with Jim Kelly see now either one's kind of a good stat because you've been to the Super Bowl enough times to have the most wins or losses. And I think that one's kind of a deal because look you mentioned Jim Kelly, and we sort of at this point, you know, history has been kind enough to finally realized that going to four straight Super Bowls is incredible win or lose. Right. So it doesn't seem to Lord over. Jim Kelly said that he didn't win one of those. So I'm not. Sure, there's a huge deal that one. But but the other way that he can actually set the the record. I mean, he's tied with Charles Haley with five and Charles Haley's proud of that accomplishment as he should be in that that's significant so Brady going to the top of the Super Bowl list. I think in his legacy conversation that they're going to have in twenty years. It will make everybody roll there is that significant. So I I think that's a bit of a deal. All right. Let's see what you got. All right. I got another patriots. When this. This is a good one in their Super Bowl appearances. Okay. In their Super Bowl wins in their first Super Bowl win against the Rams. They were leading in thirty two snaps during the whole game there next Super Bowl appearance against Panthers. Twenty-seven the one after that against the eagles seventeen one after that against the Seahawks five and in the in the win over the falcons, none. So they're patriots snaps leading in Super Bowl wins has been on a sharp decline in every single game dealer Nodia. I'm gonna say no deal. Even though it makes sense that it would be a deal. I think it's just random chance because they're still winning those games. You're right. But I guess if you're at zero you start to go negative that's going to be a loss that was assigned. They'll never win one. Again. I'm just I'm willing to say that I'm not willing to say that they're interesting. I've got one for you. This is a good one too. Again, patriots related, but let's be honest. They have a lot more stats around these times than than any Rams do. All right. So I was curious because part of my keys to the game is for the Rams not to let the patriots get up to a big lead early on. Right patriots or seven and three this season when they score on their opening drive. We've seen them get a little bit out of range, and they're not big on blowing leads. I wanted to find out just how good they aren't holding onto leads so including the playoffs since two thousand one the patriots are two hundred four and sixteen in games where they had at least a ten point lead. That only one of those sixteen losses came in the playoffs that is a huge deal because I think it could take the Rams the second to settle down in this game and to get their offense on track. And if it does and they find themselves down by ten who. Plus, they got to be able to keep it close for girly to to get them engaged. I think Sarah you have found the gym you've found the most important one. That's a massive deal for this. That's the deal couple more statistics..

"We've talked about Bill Kaur a little bit on the last podcast radically enough looking at Brady so Brady just just some sort of you know, the history behind this Brady will set the record for most Super Bowl wins. If they win this game with six right now, he's tied with the great Charles Haley who also has five at this point. This is Brady's ninth Super Bowl that is the most suitable appearances by anyone player. Bill Belichick has a chance to try to you know, curly. Lambeau six shaping chips. No coach has more. Of they were to win this game. And you just kind of look at the overall experience of these two guys in the situation. And what is the value of that experience going into this game? I mean, I saw the Rams have four guys who have played this rule before the patriots have thirty six guys who played in super before. So matching it up as far as, you know, the Jimmy's Joe's, and you may have more talent on one side with the Rams they have had a better season, and they acquired all this town the off season to make this run. And but the patriots have all the experience. So what does that mean? Go into Super Bowl week is more about how you handle the preparation or is it more of just like get once you get into the game. You know, you kinda your legs underneath you. And and you understand what's going on. You'll get too high too low too early how much value is there. And that with this patriots team. You know, I think there's some I mean look when you win on the road in New Orleans. I mean at that crowd and that atmosphere and that and that volume of game, I think you're pretty well battle-tested. I mean look Jared Goff played much better in the second half of the New Orleans game. I think he was thirteen for twenty in the second half sixty five percent completion. He had almost one hundred eighty yards. You know, and and he probably had his best half a playoff football in the second half. So I think that that helps and certainly the experience of being in the game can help the patriots. But all that stuff. Really doesn't matter. Once the game starts because look the patriots have beaten to good teams into coming into playoffs. They're playing their best football. That's what really matters you go back and look at some of these other Super Bowl teams. They even though seventeen that was undefeated was not playing their best football. They struggled in both those playoff games. They won. They be je I mean, they won the games. But it wasn't like as dominating as everybody thought these past two games Tate. Frazier against a really good Los Angeles chargers team that could have been the number one seat easily and the can't see chiefs that were the number one seed. I mean, these are the two best teams in the AFC. Forget the seedings, right? They beat them. They were up forty nine to seven at the half against the both these teams two teams combined. So I think it's really remarkable how they're able to how they're. Playing and peaking at the right time. And I just don't think experience is going to matter. I think how you play matters more. All right before we move on. Let's take a quick break Academy Award winning screenwriter and playwright Aaron Sorkin was on the Bill Simmons podcast last week discussing his long career in great movies and shows.

"Happy thirty ninth birthday to Julius peppers and happy birthday to him. I don't care. Good luck. Pappas? Is he gonna play again next year? How do you do that at that age? How do you do that? I marvel at guys like Terrell. Suggs, not that he's thirty nine, but how Terrell suggs is still doing that particular job at that age is crazy to me. I mean, the elite pass rusher it's such a in need skill. Like we've seen this throughout the history of the game. Charles Haley, his broad out to Reggie White is brought out just because it's such an important skill in Julius peppers. He's still damn good. I agree with you. But thirty nine sounds a little old me. Like, I'm amazed by what Cam awake is doing his agent. He ain't thirty nine. I put on the what do you? How do you want to phrase that is thirty nine too old to be playing defensive and? Yeah, put it on the poll. It is thirty nine years old too old to be playing defensive end. Do you think that's a more physical position? Yeah. You're colliding more than quarterback because it's amazing breezes at forty and and Tom Brady's doing this at whatever his vampire ages at this point. But that's really impressive for someone. That's colliding every play. The it's not just that because they use the older guy sparingly because of the collisions. I would just think that what would go away fastest would be speed that the thing that you're the guys are already one hundred pounds. Heavier the guys blocking Julius peppers already one hundred pounds heavier than him. No matter how strong is. So as van his advantage has to be speed. I mean, he is pretty big though for speed Russia and his game. If I'm putting together like a top ten list of just incredible athletes Tabar play in the NFL the truth. He's on. Let's put that list together. Bo Jackson's at the top of it. Let's go beyond centers is at the top the on Sanders is at the top of it. I don't think Julius peppers is going to make this cut. We started out too strong with the first two you Tony Gonzales..
