Garbage collectors, utility workers and train drivers are among the people walking off the job across France to show their anger at a bill raising the retirement age from 62 to 64, which unions see as a broader threat to the French social model, while a 5th of flights have been canceled at Paris's Charles De Gaulle airport and about a third at Orly airport 250 protests are expected in Paris and around the country in what organizers hope is their biggest show of force yet against president Emmanuel Macron's showcase legislation. After nearly two months of demonstrations, the bill is under debate in the French Senate this week, I'm Charles De Ledesma

"88 88 Raleigh. Now I'm going to get to a sherry in a moment, but a couple of things that I ran across that I want time to run out and forget about them. They're apparently is a weird Al documentary "Weird Al" Yankovic. And he's hilarious, a big part of doctor demento show if you're ever that. It's tongue in cheek, it's not for real. And it's from what I can tell hilarious. I can't wait to wait to see it, but apparently it's free on Roku and it came out in November. So yeah, it's just like his music was a play on the hits of the day. The biopic is a play on biopics. And I think you will enjoy that. The other thing I didn't realize I knew about the movie terminal all about supposedly this guy who was stuck at the airport because this country failed to exist and he couldn't get out. You know, that kind of thing. Well, that was based on a real life person and sadly that real life person is now dead. Passed away due to a heart attack right at Charles De Gaulle airport after 18 years, and that's what Steven Spielberg based his movie on, it was a guy who intended to fly from England to France and then back to England in 1988, but he lost the documents proving his refugee status once she arrived at de Gaulle, and without those credentials he was unable to enter or leave any country since the airport is international space, not classified as a nation. He was there. Now, he was lost. He struggled to earn a livelihood and didn't speak a word of French, and the staff said that he never really had an interest in leaving the airport. It became his home, but he did leave the airport in 2006 due to health issue that required him to be hospitalized, and then around the same time he got the rights, the movie, the terminal, they actually paid him. He got $300,000. And he used that to live in a hotel next to the airport once he got out of the hospital. But that money didn't last forever because it's 2006. So he ran out of money. He stayed in a homeless shelter for a while, but he soon returned to the airport. And nowhere else felt like home. And now sadly, he's gone on to the permanent home as of last month. But I was just stunned to find out that there was an actual person who was in that in that situation. But yeah, so rest in peace to him. All right, sherry and Naperville welcome to WGN radio. Sherri. I'm here. What's up? First off, I want to ask you about you and you have to do some weird things and only liquid. Yeah, I'm going to do it. Yeah, it doesn't matter. I'm doing an elemental diet for a few weeks. It's just powder that you do for a few weeks. It's not so bad. I don't know what that. Okay. But. Just you tell all of us, not to mention food during this. Oh, I don't care. It won't bother me. I won't. No, because I felt so lousy. I get sick every time I eat. So who cares? I'll be fine. Oh, okay. Yeah, it won't matter. You're welcome to mention food. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah, everything I want to mention is that I'm so happy to hear this potty called. Yeah, me too. Yeah. His voice was so buoyant and housing. Yeah. So I'm hoping he's going to do well. Another. Siren the universe. Yeah. And I was extremely happy to hear from her. What else do I say? Oh, did you make sure I am Detroit wheels? Yes. Devil with the blue dress on last night you said you were going to play. I did. The original one. I did. Did you? I did. You did. I did. I'll let you hear a little bit. It's such a wonderful record. Hang on, 'cause I don't mind playing it. Yeah, it's one that truly great ones and don't worry. I won't play for too much of it in case it's not your favorite, but I thought it was just a terrific record from 1964. This is what Mitch Ryder should have done

"This is Bloomberg daybreak, Europe. As we look back on the first half of 2022, it's really hard to overstate just how extraordinary global Macron markets have been. Why wouldn't be surprised that growth will slip below 2%? But it won't pivot down into negative territory. Millions of families are looking forward to getting away on holiday, perhaps the first one they've had since the pandemic. So I would independent Ukraine is going to be around a lot longer than president Putin was on the scene. Bloomberg daybreak, Europe, on Bloomberg radio. He had his 9 30. A.m., here in the UK, we take your agencies markets, took your markets. In fact, every 15 minutes here in Europe is soon gains around 7 tenths of a percent on the benchmark European stocks 600. The FTSE 100 is leading the pack gaining almost 1% 69 points at 7238 across your sectors. You're seeing gains most pronounced in energy healthcare and telecoms at the bottom of the list losses on real estate autos and technology, future stateside pointing to losses around 6 tenths of a percent after some gains of around 1% on Friday, Wall Street. It is, of course, the U.S. markets closed for July 4th and Independence Day holidays, so reopening on Tuesday, Asia saw gains around 5 tenths of a percent in terms of your currencies, the Bloomberg dollar index, not a lot of movement, of course, strength in the last few months for the greenback and whether or not that persists will be part of the conversation as we look at the FOMC minutes on Wednesday and the non farm payrolls on Friday as well out of the U.S.. You're a dollar one O four gaining a tenth of a percent Sterling at one 21 again there of just a tenth of a percent for the pound. And when it comes to the fixed income markets and sovereign debt, you've seen a bit of a move in terms of money out of the debt of the sovereigns in Europe, the German ten year currently at one 27 yields up about four basis points more pronounced over in Italy BTPs at three 18 yields up 9 basis points commodities a $111 a barrel for Brent. WTI at one O 7 down 6 tenths of a percent and once again, iron ore under pressure a $109 a ton Goldman Sachs says it could get down to 90 just in the next three months, recession fears and the lack of demand softening demand are the China part of that call from Goldman Sachs. That's a check on your markets. Caroline. Right, let's get to our top stories this morning. In Germany, top industries could face collapse because of cuts in the supplies of Russian natural gas. That's according to the country's top union official. Speaking to ask cast and the chief economist at ING Germany, said that the responsibility needs to be shared. This is for both the corporate world and households to see where can they become more efficient, where can they save energy, but it's also be clear. Saving energy structurally is a longer term issue. And Germany and you have to go through the next winter. That was Carson possibility chief economist at ING Germany, analysts estimate that the Russian gas cut is costing Juniper €30 million per day if the government puts up enough money to rescue universe for a year, it would cost taxpayers €11 billion. Meanwhile, Russia has declared full control of the facility of the invading army now exerting increasing territorial control over the eastern Donbass region. The Russian gains on the battlefield come as Ukraine prepares to release more details on a proposal to rebuild the country at a conference in Switzerland, Bloomberg's max Ramsay is there. Some key figures from Ukraine's government, along with global policymakers, are here to discuss this plan which could call for hundreds of billions of dollars in financial aid to reconstruct and transform the country's economy post war with infrastructure, climate, energy, and digital economy projects. But even as they look to the future, the war rages on in the present. Now Ukraine says it has pulled back from a key city in Luhansk as Russia continues its push to make gains in the Donbass region. In lugano, Switzerland, max Ramsey Bloomberg daybreak Europe. European Union officials say the 27 member bloc will contribute the bulk of the financial assistance needed, with the cost of reconstruction set to top €500 billion. Meanwhile, here in the UK, the British chambers of commerce says that British firms are more than ever expecting to raise prices in the next three months. Their latest survey says that three quarters of companies have no plans to increase investment and more than a quarter now predict a drop in profit. Meanwhile, the resolution foundation think tank says that disposable incomes among UK households grew by just .7% annually in the 15 years before the pandemic. And the European Central Bank is exploring ways to prevent banks from earning windfall profits from the subsidized lending program it launched during the pandemic once it raises interest rates later this month. That is according to the Financial Times, who cited people familiar with the plans. Banks received more than €2.2 trillion of subsidised loans during the COVID crisis, and with rates set to hike, lenders could get extra earnings worth up to 24 €1 billion. Okay, those are a few of our top stories this morning. But let's also talk about some of the travel chaos that we're expecting airlines and airports are preparing for significant disruption to schedules over the summer at a time when travel is returning to pre-pandemic levels. But it makes Laura Wright has been across the latest details. I mean, we saw it over the weekend too. There was lots of chaos across Europe. This morning you have fuel protests, a sort of separate issue, but it's kind of travel. Chaos again, what disruption is the travel sector actually expecting over the summer then. Well, so far striking announcements from low cost carriers such as EasyJet, Ryanair, Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris. It was chaos over the weekend there and national rail strike on the cards in France, mirroring what we've already seen here in the United Kingdom and British Airways ground workers over at Heathrow. The common denominator behind this industrial action is pay, workers feeling their wages eroded by inflation, and they want to be fairly compensated against this tough macro backdrop and at a time when demand is booming in the sector ahead of the peak summer season. So how are airlines out of the airports and the industry? How they were adjusting to these jump up in passenger numbers and that demand. To be honest, they're not adjusting and it's why we've seen capacity cut announcements over the summer. For example, ship all airport in Amsterdam will see a reduction of 20% during the summer period for Gatwick and British Airways. It's 11% and 10% respectively. Remember the industry lost many workers over the pandemic. They found jobs elsewhere and they are essentially reluctant to return to a volatile sector, and that shortage is compounded by long wait times for new employees to pass security clearances. According to data from iata, the shortfall in work is in the industry will be 200,000 at the end of this year, which shows just how pronounced it still is. Absolutely. What are the other consequences then? I mean, we're there talking about returning to systematic jet fuel hedging. I mean, there are short and then medium term consequences. Yeah, in the short term, cancellations. So I've done a bit of research to look at country cancellations for the month of June compared to June in 2019. It shows that across the board in Europe, the issue is quite worrying Italy is a notable laggard with cancellations up 442% for the United Kingdom cancellations up almost 230%. Interestingly, in the United States, cancellations up just 22%, which illustrates that in the United States the issue is less pronounced. In the longer term, the key question is, where will demand be after the peak summer season against this backdrop of a cost of living crisis, it's been that we've seen really ugly share price drops for airlines over the last month and even this morning EasyJet in IAG trading down around a percent. What analysts are trying to determine is whether at these levels airlines are a bargain or overvalued. Okay, lower right on there, travel care that's set to continue. Oh joy for anyone to go on holiday to some account. Absolutely. Meanwhile, yeah, we've seen travel cares already this morning on the M4 between Bristol and South Wales there. So yeah, the protesters want to cut to the fuel duty. Anyway, much more to come, this is Bloomberg

"Certain ones, all of a sudden became sort of out for me. I was like, well, I am not going to put bramble berry crisp with chocolate in my mind, those two don't go together. So it's this idea that, you know, our preferences, I might say, well, I like chocolate ice cream. I prefer that, but it's going to be modified in context of where I am, who I'm around other things that are presented to me. So how do we know what we really want? How do you think about that question? It's really tough. And I think a challenge to people who study choices is knowing when someone's making a good choice. So one way of doing it is are people consistent. So I take you to the gelato place, which will be 36 different nice gelato there. And I sort them one way, and you pick the bramble berry cream, and I sort another way, and you pick the bamboo or cream, then I think you have a real preference. But if you sort them differently, now you're choosing chocolate or the hazelnut, then I think your choice is actually going to be pretty flexible, that it's actually not that strong of a preference. And it's interesting. You may experience both of those choices as being strong preferences, and not be worried that the order of the ice streams change your choice. Like it if it's consistent. Another way is we can say, let me move to a place because I don't want to be as judgmental as you might be with ice creams. But let's say you're buying a credit card. Some credit cards are worse than others on every dimension. We want to make sure you don't buy the really bad credit card. So that's another way we can tell whether it's a good choice or not. Finally, for the sake of studies and I think to understand choice architecture, I can give you a goal. Let's say I was telling by the credit card that's best for this kind of person, someone who never carries a balance that always pays off in spends months, lots of points. "And get back up. And I think that's what coordinate is currently doing at the minute. And I think we as sports people are going to enjoy watching an unbelievable comeback. And one that is being planned, I feel meticulously in terms of what they're doing the type of horses that they're buying. And Gordon has a team of people around him that are second to none as Tyson Fury would. You know, you've got mouse or Ryan there that that's doing the buying with them. You've got posty. You've got Simon in terms of pet laden and assistant trainer. And even in the background, there's two girls there. And I could see them on the TV, could see one of them on the TV yesterday, Alex and pippa, who run all of the entries and all of that to make sure that every horse is going to where it should be. You're going to watch something special, right? Because look back in the last few weeks over his winners. And you'll notice towards maidenhead winners bumper winners. Luke now at all of Nolan Valerie Morris horses are effective studs, horses that people last year were questioning the investment that made because they didn't get an immediate return in 2021. But watch how those horses are progressing. And combine that now with these young horses that better coming through. And this man is going to be a formidable force. And it'll either be this cheap no matter the next one where you brash his record, his winners record out the window. And people should be kind of accepting that today that this is going to happen. But, you know, we had horses this week last week that were just talked to us. You mentioned hollow Holocaust people before we before we came before we came on. You know, you go back, you've got filled award who's one of the favorites for the triumph. You have revised towel if that's how you pronounce it and really I think, you know, we're at a Pep Guardiola level here with Gordon, you know? And then as you saw at first hand, the type of character that he actually is on a day to day basis. You're dealing with kind of a very easy man to talk to and relate to. But, you know, there's been some great managers in sport, whether it's been Pep Guardiola, Belichick in the patriots or Clive Woodward, maybe in the English would be team that won the World Cup but I think people should kind of keep an eye on this as well and just watch this story unfold because this guy is 100% focused of getting back to the very, very top and doing what he does best, which is training in winners. And I think that that's all he thinks too bad. And I think that there's particular horses that, you know, that we need to keep an eye on and certainly as we're talking to cheltenham, but in a non bending perspective at the minute or from a non betting perspective a diminished, you know, we've got to be watching Gordon in March 2022. I think that's a fascinating point. And it was interesting listening to Davey Russell talking about how anxious he was to get back to team up a Gordon. That was his focus was it wasn't just that he wanted to get back on track. It was to get back and team up at Gordon. And they're the two of them combined with the favorite in run wild Fred. Again, many maroon silks in a handicap chase in Ireland. But look at it as well in terms of Ronaldo going to Manchester United. Davies at the at the very tail end of it. He could ride for anybody this year. Anybody at all. But look, I don't know what Dave Russell thinks I won't pretend to, but I could imagine that what he wants to do is win as many good races as he possibly can between now and the time when he has to retire. And he is a lining himself, you know, which he had done previously. I'm not saying that he didn't. But, you know, he's aligning himself with Gordon. And, you know, that's the team that I think is going to have to be watched. You've got you've got a trainer that is going to get back to the very Pinnacle of the sport. And you've got one of the best national homes of all time that wants to make sure that the months and years that he has remaining in this sport are extremely productive for him and that he delivers on that insane desire that he has for winners. And that's why he's together with Gordon. You know, and maybe when I was mentioning the team there that were in, you know, at home, I should have mentioned the jockeys, but yeah, if you look at it, throw Jack in throw game for it in throw dennison or Regan. That's right, and as well now that Jack is injured, you know? And like it's something for us to watch and enjoy. And you kind of see it for to see it for what it is. He's getting up off the canvas a little bit like Tyson Fury did and I'm telling you, he's going to go and do the business over the next two seasons. I think that's a fascinating analogy. And it meant it clearly meant the world to him. And he made that very clear both in his emotion after winning the race yesterday. It was like he scored the winning goal in the Champions League Final. With the celebration and the roar that he had, it's his local track. And it says 51 in Detroit. And he had the one too. With Davy on the right horse. And in terms of daily, I'm like, I don't know how much is left in the locker for Davy is in. I don't know how much longer Davey wants to keep going, but I do remember interviewing him before cheltenham. It might have been before the Dublin racing festival, and he was saying he missed that, but that he would be ready for jolt them. And instead, he ends up missing the entire Shelton festival and the Galway festival and all in between. And for nothing, right? I was in Charles De Gaulle airport with him on Wednesday night last week. And he was fractionally late for his flight. And there is nothing wrong with that man's fitness. He went up a set of escalators. I could tell he had about three, three at a time with his bag over his shoulder. And he was lightning quick in front of me anyway. And this guy is in great shape and he made his flight and he got home and warm peace. 'cause that's the point to make. I think, is that he's, look, he's not getting any younger, but he is exceptionally fit. And as hard as it was for him to be told, Davey, you're not going to make Shelton. And you're not even going to make the Galloway festival. You're not going to make punches down. You're not going to make the call with festival. You have to wait. So it was almost a year that he was on the sidelines. But he accepted it and he put the work in, and I'm reminded of that chapter in Roy Keane's autobiography when.
