"It's not in my opinion as creative is citizen kane was but you do see occasional shots and framing that are reminiscent of citizen kane. He also does things even though he shot this digitally. He does things with the film where he puts the little. Burn in the upper right corner. You see from leftover from the days of film when they were changing reels letting the person displaying the film in the theater. No one to change to the next real. So that's in there. Which is kind of i think kind of lame because it was just digitally added to create that effect but some people like it he also did stuff with the sound to give it kind of that Raspy can more recorded on older sound equipment film so he did a lot of stuff with this film in order to make it. Have that feel of legitimately being shot in black and white film and and to which which is nice as to the performance. I'm gary oldman is brilliant. He's always brilliant With you can't ever say anything. Negative about gary oldman I do think they take a lot of leeway with the character and weights done They they shoot a little out of time as well so as it jumps around especially at the beginning also similar to citizen kane Amanda siegfried plays The kind of blonde Take on we. I can't think of the name of the character What's the canarian davis. So amanda exactly. Amanda symphony plays. Mary davis who was The concubine if you will of de well-known william randolph. Hearst and who's played by charles dance and so make wits kind of befriends them and that's kind of where he gets the idea for the story of citizen kane and so there's all that story mixed in there and his in his conflicts with studios and stuff so i don't know that's how's that for some reason i work. That's reading summaries interesting. I've never seen citizen kane. And i went to the villain just heard manque. Have you seen mind. So i sat down. It was just as a caveat. Who's on my laptop and watch. This and i was immediately sucked in this world. I think it was nineteen fifties nash. Six hundred sixty four. Fifty of based teaser. Your tastes place. Because citizen kane came out and forty one So this would've. I hope i'm right on that. Somebody can probably correct me but Yes citizen kane came. Forty-one this would be your leading up to that. So what really like showed the whole hollywood system and the politics involves and and just i know the black and white and the feeling of this. You know it's like you don't really see modern black mike grimm it's kind of like the artist would-be another example of it but i've rarely seen a modern and whites now taken old style. It's it works. What i didn't realize they're burning down in the corner. Let's go back and you'll notice it. You'll definitely notice. it now. Reads like her character and the way she's her look and and I'm gary oldman he's gonna win the oscar like just give him the oscar. He had gonna win it. He's just terrific in days. Yeah i think anytime. Gary coleman's in film. They should just give them just a very very gary. Oldman film this year oscar. What exactly is soaked in this whole words. "But this is a fascinating movie about the making of one of the biggest classics of all time, Citizen Kane, and it is very, very well done. Gary Oldman is fantastic, and I think going to get an Oscar nomination for this You also have Amanda Sife Red Lily Collins as well and some other great performances by Charles Dance in a bunch of other people, So, um, it's really good. Directed by David Fincher. It's in black and white, which I know is not everybody's cup of tea. Um and each. You know the he's trying to get very creative with this. It's Ah, you know, it's a movie about a very classic. Fantastic movie. So he tries T O really amp up his game and get kind of interesting with the Hey does stuff with the sound design as well. Um which I have to say actually really bothered me. If you have. If you're watching this and you have a surround sound system, I would suggest taking the surround sound speakers off. Because there's something really weird that they do with the sound design, and it makes it really echoey and kind of distracted, man. All right, Good. Good to note. There s O make. It's about the making a citizen Kane. I totally check that out. I haven't seen Citizen Kane in years, but It's either by now I'm curious to go back and watch it again after after watching this and getting a lot of the backstory, which again is not all true, but it's since based in interest. But the film itself is manque is is it's the script is really, really good, the dialogue. It's very funny. It's very quick. On bit's fascinating. Alright, so rose, But I don't wanna spoil for you, but rose, but anyway hey, you, Jason. What else on then? Okay, so other things to watch this weekend is I'll tell you about a couple theories that are coming up, but I can't really recommend them. One is Selina the series based on the popular Kahane pop star who died in the nineties and was huge. I mean, yeah, absolutely, just a huge, huge star that I think a lot of Americans didn't really know about on go. This is a story about her life. Unfortunately, given who she was and how big she wasn't how important she is to the Mexican American community. Um this serious is not does not do her justice. Uh and I can't really recommend it. It's a hand. Yeah. Yeah, I know Is that because it's really bad. Are you just being a racist? Um, yeah, both because that's always the defense is you don't like it because you're a racist. No, it's just not good. Yeah, it's just not good, And that's unfortunate. I think because, um and I read a review by very prominent Mexican American writer who said that, you know, The shame of this is that they? You know, we don't get a whole lot of stuff for for Mexican Americans like there's not a whole lot of theories that really speak to us, and here's something that's going to speak to us. And we're going to watch it because we want to watch stuff about our people. But when you give us bad stuff, and then we say it's bad, and nobody watches it. And then you don't give us anything else s. Oh, it's a real catch 22. So it wasn't the wonder woman movie with the director or so because everyone's a sexist know it just sucked. Right? Exactly. Yeah, And that's that's That's the shame of it In a nutshell. Um, also did I see Bryan Cranston has something this weekend is the next week and I really wanted to like this because I love Bryan Cranston. This Showtime. It's a kind of legal crime drama called Your Honor, in which he plays a judge in New Orleans. And, um, unfortunately, the, uh, the writing is just not good. Um, it z really kind of silly in a lot of ways. Um, and you know, love Bryan Cranston, and I love the kind of premise Where his son kind of gets in trouble, and he has to kind of help him out. And it's It's interesting the I want to see where the story goes. But man, the first episode was just the writing was It's kind of terrible, really some some episodes it takes awhile. Um, first to write like the first episode of Queen's Gambit I thought was it didn't really great me, but I'm like I heard it was so good today and buy a second episode. You're hooked, you know? Yeah. Yeah, well and that Z. I kind of like Selena. I watch two episodes of that. Um and And read some other reviews. And I found that it doesn't get better with your honor is pretty much the same thing. So, um, do you? What do you see? Bryan Cranston. Just keep thinking. Walter White, though. Is that the problem? No, no, no, not actually. Not at all. And I thought that might be an issue. Um, he's He does a good job. He's so distinctive is the Walter right character when you know what the hat and goatee and and everything that when he doesn't have any of that stuff, you could totally forget that that it Z He's a different character, okay, and he does a good job in this in in kind of changing his physicality to make you think that he's a different character. He's much more soft spoken. He's a very loving dad, as opposed to breaking bad where he's you know, not the best dad in the world. Well, I will say this, though I saw him in the LBJ Bio pic and he was bawling after he was great. No, He's really good at being able Tonto shift like that. Which is pretty amazing because you didn't think the guy from Malcolm in the middle. Could could do that. Jason Nathan's and in Hollywood brother, I know you gotta get run. I appreciate the time. Have a great weekend. We'll talk. Probably next week, I guess. All right. You do all right, Jason Nathan's and on the Scots alone show. You know, you brought something up there with the seismic shift in the movie industry, you know, with Warner Brothers, saying that they're going to release every movie every movie they have next year, Which is the Matrix for I think it's for you. You know me and numbers that it gets four could be 40. Godzilla King Kong Dune suicide squad. I think they have the New Sopranos movie that's coming out to based on the HBO show. That's supposed to come out on that platform next year, and I'll just be right on streaming on HBO Max, which is going to blow up movie theaters, right? And it's like stuff changes. What will you do with the movie theaters? Probably with the movie theaters will become our mega churches. You know, if your people go to traditional churches, you established religions. They're going to go to maybe some of these strip mall churches, which is great. But where you gonna the tip? Well, we'll just buy those up. Maybe maybe Crossroads goes and buys all the game season. I don't know so anyway. It's funny. How stuff like that evolved. I got this great story closer. Show this come back in a couple minutes to talk about it on day. That is the You know how a Zoe look toward zoom calls, And now everyone's burned out on that kind of stuff. Um, have the way things used its really its kind. I don't know. I have no idea how to set this up because it's just a weird little nugget that I saw, um, involving how How fast we've come when it comes to communications, how quickly things change and evolve and it kind of ties little bit in this Warner brothers saying Anyway, hang.

There exists no greater compliment to be called a prince among them and use it. Virtues too rich. You must reach and rise on a grieves me to say that you're not working hard enough to reach on to rise, But Charles can't find the fortitude to commit fully to his new fiance. Charles communicates his ambivalence when a TV reporter tries to get the painfully awkward couple to express their love and if I may say You post a very much in love. Oh, yes. Absolutely whatever in love means. As this story unfolds, the entire royal family looks awful, too out of touch to realize what a terrible situation is brewing and all along the viewer knows the horrific ending that's coming. Critics say the crown is a glossy advertisement propping up the English monarchy. But what this serious really does is humanize the royal family were given grounded, understandable Backstories for all their biggest failures and scandals and ways that don't excuse unforgivable behavior as much as explore and explain it. Those who hate Thatcher's conservative policies may have a problem with how sensitively her dismissal from British politics is depicted here. You know, when you have something that the test of time like this over sixty years over thirty films, you have to pay homage to the old school and still add something new, and I really feel like we've done that, so on a side note. What do you what do you think of what's going on with the Lakers right now? I haven't talked to you since all the dysfunction has has come along. You know, me man, I'm a Laker until they bury me, man. And I, I get the whole front office drama. But I just don't feel too bad. When I got, you know, four four young studs on the team, still, plus the number four pick plus the Bron James, like I just don't. I'm not feeling as bad as everybody wants me to feel what I hate is that the clippers are getting Colli Linnet this summit. You know, when those Vegas numbers came out, you know, Vegas knows something bad clippers are at number one. Well, Toronto actually just became his last. So he may stick around in Canada. Oh by the seven God be praised. Hey, she went Mason, Mason. I get an argument. I'm very surprised Mesa's on this side of it. Mason doesn't like Drake, getting in the middle of these NBA games. I kinda like it. What do you think a Drake involving himself in these playoff games? Back if you can get into their head by, at whatever it takes. If you could get that W, if you can get into these players head do whatever you can, as a fan, but don't touch the coach bro. That's weird. That was was weird. Yeah, I'm all for it. I'm a I'm a crazy fan. I love to get into players ears when I get the chance. So I completely feel Drake time in the finals, you know, he has to, but don't touch the coast, bro. Hey O'Shea, I know you've been busy traveling for Godzilla. It's been lines here and you were in New York for Longchamps and you've been all over the place. I don't know if you saw the story of rob Pelinka saying that Kobe had a dinner or a lunch with heath ledger after the dark Knight. Can you tell us about the time that rob? Pelinka asks you and your dad's have brunch. Costa, easy talk. Oh. Further digging this whole, you know, he's really, he's really turned in the little finger in front of our eyes and, you know, honestly, if it wasn't for rob Pelinka probably wouldn't have gotten straight outta Compton. I'm sure he. Sure..

So I was like, wow, this character, you know, he's really like Milken that accent. But they're like no. That's how you know, he's got the, the airstream on the back of the truck like he is a he likes sleep under the stars type type of guy. And I know him from the Peter Jackson King Kong was like, oh my God. God's has the do for King Kong, any like we're lucky sneak dissing as so, you know, I loved it. I love Superdome guy. Bobby Brown's debut, career are you Millie Bobby hose it down in this film? Okay. Millie. Bobby Ricky, Bobby. Aria aria down, who's the aria in the Lakers situation. That's gonna be the free agent. Guess what? We did without them. We were four minutes from the von. We how you were what last year four minutes when the finals without him four minutes, you know what I'm saying? Like a book, I look. I'm here for your Boston. Hey, I'm here for speaking, somebody who's from New York City, a diehard Yankee fan. I would take it in liquid form and injected into my veins. I would do that. Okay. And I say this is my wife, again you were on a pot a couple of times, she's from the Boston area. Okay. I've married into a Boston family. They're fully aware high feel about yourself, strong. I appreciate that. But you really don't have much of a position right now to carp on Celtic fan. As a Laker fan you just really are. You don't. No, no, I know. But you do have like you're out of position under the boards right now, you're, you're reaching in. You're going over the top. I'm kind of call him a foul right now. And I'm look like that's just you don't have much of a listen. I'm a loss, Angelino a loss. Angeles, Laker, a non Laker fan will never see me sweat. I will die with the golden army. They will bury me a Senate court now will not let Boston get under my skin. And he doesn't even want to be here who's not true. This is no movies anywhere else. Spins, you happen to be Warner Brothers film. You're in Space Jam right to a space. Yeah. Non Laker fans. Like you got my joke wrong on Twitter. I missed the radio show and said that I was resting groin injury. So I could prepare to film Space Jam to, which is exactly what LeBron did for most of the games. So it was a joke at Laker fans and put it on IMDB, and it just spread out. But one brothers, I will take any job in Space Jam Space Jam to accept like so from Boston anything. So, basically for anybody out there Jackson junior, currently, not in Space Jam to just live was just making a load management joke, which, by the way, not many people make load management jokes. I appreciate that. I don't like saying load management and groin injury..

"Like what people should expect from this series. Correct. Yes, in, you know, the reason why we didn't have a clip is because my character, yes, Chief Warrant Officer Barnes. You know being a soldier in the of the movies, gotta be like go worse. Job. Everybody's this is about to die. And so it's, you know, it's a couple of Easter eggs and spoilers in. "Why wonder how much of this budget went into the development like if they were gonna make a sequel, they don't have to? I mean, I guess theoretically, they don't have to redesign this character. Right. Like, the they have a lot of that. -nology? I mean. Yeah. The tech gas. You know, this movie is supposedly cost hundred seventy million. I'm not sure that includes advertising. So how much money actually have to make to be considered, you know, successful. So there's there's a few estimates here. It needs to make between three hundred and fifty and four hundred million to break, even but some sources are saying it might have to go as as high as five hundred million. So. I really don't know. It's it's gonna earn that. Yeah. So basically if you're looking forward to sequel for battling Joel let's let's keep let's let's page that for later, and it's see them. See if it can I if can make it up that high. But right now, it's at two sixty six worldwide. So we're we're halfway there. Chris. I yeah. Good luck battling. We're all pulling for you. Yeah. Okay. Talking about FOX. They are making some prequels and sequels to the Kingsman franchise something that I wasn't even aware that people wanted Penn telephoto. Yes. So macking von who wrote and directed the first two Kingsman movies, apparently really loves this world and has plans to stay in it for quite some time. So right now, he is shooting a Kingsman prequel, which may or may not be subtitled the great game that stars Raytheon's Harris Dickinson, reecey funds, Daniel Bruhl, Matthew good and Charles dance. And it's basically it takes place in the early nineteen hundreds leading up to World War One. And there's like a an origin story period piece about the formation of the Kingsman spy organization that movie was originally going to come out this November. But now it has been pushed back to. Valentine's Day twenty twenty. So that's a, you know, a few months delay. But the Valentine's Day release is actually the same the time window that the first the very first Kingsman movie was released back in two thousand fourteen. So I guess it makes a certain amount of sense for them to slot it in their plus by caning that November release date FOX was able to put before versus Ferrari movie that the Logan director James Mangold is making into that slot which is much more award season friendly than, you know, something like a Kingsman prequel. So yeah, that's the the news for this year. And then right after that, actually Matthew Vaughn is supposed to be once. He's done with this Kingsman prequel. He's supposed to jump directly into making Kingsman three which is a more traditional sequel to Kingsman the golden circle which came out in twenty seventeen. So I mean like, and he also has plans to make a I think an eight episode or an eight hour TV show set in the Kingsman. World. There's been some some rumors and talk about potential movie spin-offs involving like the the statesman and stuff like that. So none of that is actually like a locked in yet. But it does seem like according to several reports he's going to be taking a short break after production on the Kingsman prequel and just jumping straight into shooting Kingsman three later this year. This is crazy because it seems like this is becoming like Matthew vaughn's like avatar, you know, it's going to be up the rest of his filmmaking career like I remember seeing that original foam, and I was like oh this universe. Could be a big thing. And then I the sequel came I never saw it Christie saw right? Kingsman sequel. Oh, I did. And I it was awful. So I don't want any more these. Yeah..
