Clotting factors: the AstraZeneca vaccine

"European and british regulators released their conclusions yesterday about a possible link between blood. Clots and the astrazeneca cova vaccine. After and very index analysis has concluded that the reported cases of unusual blood. Clotting following vaccination with the astrazeneca vaccine should be listed as possible side effects of the vaccine. The reviews were carried out after a small number of reports that those who received the astrazeneca job went on to develop blood clots in the brain or abdomen leading to a total of eighteen deaths in europe and nineteen in britain limb chair of britain's joint committee on vaccination and united nation said Vaccine would be offered to people under thirty. We are not advising a stop to any vaccination for any individual in any age group advising a preference for one vaccine over another vaccine for a particular age group. Really out of the utmost caution rather than because we have any serious safety concerns however regulators and britain's prime minister boris johnson emphasized that the benefits of the job clearly outweigh the risks. These vaccines are safe. They they saved. Many thousands of lives and people should come forward to get that job so we'll make sure very rare side effects are bound to emerge as immunization drives reach millions and billions of people the current course correction clearly represents an abundance of caution on the part of regulators but it may have far reaching effects on the caution shown by people in line for a job so the first signal that there may be a problem caused by the vaccine emerged in late february when doctors in several european countries began now to saying clusters of blood. Does that change the roles. Does it take us back. Today's we don't want to think about we don't like to think about. I know it's silly to even talk about these things. The Promise That Led Brandon Staley Into Coaching

"Daniel during his introductory press conference spec in january. We really got a sense. For what a true football nut brandon staley is. This is all i've ever wanted to do since i was a little kid. I started drinking coffee in the first grade and reading the sports vase. Because i wanted to be here doing this job. i do. You think he was being serious about that coffee in the first grade thing. Oh absolutely jason actually specifically mentioned that in my interview saying that he was doing that in the first grade coffee reading the sports section with his dad but he said it actually wasn't because he was a sports not it's because he wanted to be his father and admired him so deeply that he wanted to sit in the chair and drink coffee and read the sports page. Exactly like his dad did which i think. A lot of sons can relate to trying to mimic your father. But i thought that was sort of an interesting twist on it because when you first heard brandon say it it was oh he was obsessed with sports because i was reading the sports section in the first grade but it really was because he admired his father. Well daniel you. Recently wrote about brandon staley's path to becoming the chargers coach and stem from the loss of his mother and from his relationship with his twin brother. Jason i can just tell us a little about the relationship between brandon and jason. Yeah best friends is how i would describe it. And pretty much inseparable from birth to really good athletes in high school. And i think the way jason described it was from the outside looking in people. Thought there might be some animosity. Just because brandon was always the better athlete brandon. Was the point guard on the basketball team. Brandon was the star quarterback and jason sorta played second fiddle. But the way jason described. It was never liked that our relationship people really it was kind of it was like competitive between twins and yeah certainly working at it but always telling me and him against everybody

The threat of domestic attacks here in washington clear january six and indirection of the us capital then again friday the killing of a capital police officer. We have to get to the root cause of this violence in the months after the january attack washington fortified it's capitol grounds. It looks terrible to have the big of our democracy surrounded by razor wire and national guard troops the temporary outer barbed wire barrier came down leaving. Just this fencing capitol police officers in this existing barrier to respond to friday's attack capital. Police have to be ready to twenty seven and they need the resources to do. Last time the heads of the armed forces left on the same day was nineteen ninety-five And that was the end. Up brazil's twenty one year dictatorship. Why do they do this. Because basically the past couple of years while sonata the president bus not has been trying to politicize military force Bat kim on political issues now. "Done and then he may walk out the day but there it is for you. Tell me about my listen. I love it. I mean sam darnold staying with the jets which obviously would be a fascinating. One jimmy g. to the patriots. Some questions there about injury watson to the dolphins hearing it all along russell wilson. I have a question for you. About and dacca's well allie. Can i bring everyone in on this because we can turn this. I do some hot takes as we go. But these were hot takes basically and so. Let's just go directly to some of these. As far as the top of the draft is concerned. We'll just take these order. We all know what's happening at number one. So the jets at number two really where the draft begin and jeff darlington the advantage for them. If they do decide to stick with samsung is they don't have to use that second. Pick on a quarterback which means they can use it on a player or they can trade it. That's a huge advantage. If they decided to stick that way is your sense that they will do that. Look i don't know what they're gonna do. Sam darnold but to your point if they were to stay with darnold and have that second overall pick. Can you imagine the value of that. And this is look. It's a quarterback driven league and win teams. Move up to number two. It's to get a quarterback teams will give up so much for that pick if they decide to go with darnold. I cannot even imagine the hall that they'll get in that position see. I think that's a really important and interesting point. Because right now you have all these teams that are thinking what we might get. Russell wilson we might get the shawn watson we might get back prescott sort of those teams aren't going to and by the time we get to the draft. Those teams will be desperate enough to give up. Maybe not what your trading for deshaun watson but perhaps a king's ransom now let me go to your pick of jimmy g. to new england which is the next interesting one. I'm trying to think nicole. Would you have played there with garoppolo. Because what is your sense of that relationship. We also of perceived that bill belichick wanted to go forward with jimmy. We've seen him have some success. We've not seen.

"We go back on. Get up hembo is coming for you. Who was the last quarterback to start an nfl game at the age of forty four or older so sneaky. I will admit i didn't even know. There was a quarterback of started forty four. I will put it between doug flutie vinny testaverde though because of the oldest guys i can remember playing. I will save vinny testaverde. Got it right. He got it right. That is correct. It is ten thirty in seven. That is correct brady. Rules start this season. We presume and he will be forty four years old this after joining peyton manning as the only starting quarterback to win super bowls with multiple teams. He did it in his first year. In tampa and i want you to hear this. He was on james corden last night. I thought this was really interesting. He talked about what went south in new england and what attracted him to this new opportunity. I'll sudden i see my oldest son run over to me. Dad you know and i give my you know my two little ones in set and i saw my wife and i gave her a big hug and just as i did it. She says moore. Do you have to prove what did you say. In that moment. What did you say. I gave big guy trying to figure out a way to change the subject really quick so i was. I think i moved on to something else. Pretty quickly okay. So that was brady yesterday and it wasn't a sound bite that i anticipated. But that's okay because it was another really interesting thing. jeff darlington. We talked about this earlier. The supposition that this has to come to an end at some point for brady. And i guess it does but there's giselle and it's interesting to hear him saying that that's obviously a huge factor in this decision. How much longer should we be expecting tom. Brady to keep going. Well look like. I said last hour green. It's all about how giselle said it. Did she say how much more do you have to prove or was it. How much more do you have to prove. Because this is a player now who by the way has found a new lease on life. A new sense of happiness in tampa jokes around with his buddies He says you know to one. Pm game he's in his pool backyard but like four forty five giselle enjoying life. There he can keep going if he wants to. And by the way. I would point out one thing that i think that maybe people overlook as much as this is about winning super bowls. It's also about validating his tv. Twelve methods i know people scoff at that and say whatever. Tb twelve method. That is near and dear to him. In every year that he succeeds in the. Nfl is another year after his career. When he's saying. Hey look at this this works. He's got the proof and every year is more proof to that point. This demand just keep hingis. It appears to be getting younger. It's a little bit crazy. And but the bottom line is dan campbell. You got head coach on your office door. You would never the alpha male. That's dan campbell was saying i'm not the alpha. Male never was the alpha male and by the way the person over the detroit. Lions is the alpha female. So dan campbell can back up. He never was the alpha male in this situation when it comes to the gm. It's just aim over so everybody relax. Is what dan campbell is saying. I'm making no draft decisions. I love it when people are asked the question and then they respond by saying something. That doesn't immediately obviously have anything to do with the question that they will ask that. How that sort of struck me next up we have. Jj watt who was asked this week about why he chose to sign with the cardinals. Here's what he said. The longer i looked at the more it's just science kept pointing back down here. You know there's there's a lot of exciting things about what's happening down here in arizona Always said in this league. You have to have a quarterback to have a chance. And there's a young extremely talented quarterback who can do big things and is going to your three and can take an even bigger jump to continue to grow in progress and be even better. I like that's what. Jj watt said. What does swag who say well. You know he ain't gonna win the super bowl.

"To the cowboys and what the cowboys wanted do when we started talking about leverage the leverage is based off the fact that a really good player and other teams will into the freight. That's the only way. Nfl player has leveraged. Trust me. everybody out there. We talked about money and all of their franchising them for this number is an issue for the cowboys because that is what jeff just said the negotiating starting point. That's why everybody's been screaming. We should've done this years later. So the leverage is both ways but dak prescott has put yourself in a position where thirty one other teams and take the thirty one of date but when he becomes a free agent or teams can train for him. He'll be a hot commodity. That is that chris scouts leverage. And here's the other leverage. I think football players are assets at the end of the day. You know that mark is you are an asset to your onto some level. All of us are who work in different places. He's an asset. He is an asset that has extraordinary value that they are going to lose for nothing next year. that is leverage. Is something to that. You can't afford if you let that guy walk out of your building and you essentially nothing in return. Markets that is a total organizational failure. That is a breach of fiduciary responsibility to use a bunch of fancy business words. So that to me. Markus feels like yeah g g. You're right like listen. This is with the trae. Inner when when the trade talk about dak entered their russell wilson and all of this all of this stuff that we've been talking about proposing like the dallas cowboys understand the situation there in the dallas cowboys biggest loss. Is that leaves. You have no quarterback so there is no way from of smart to your point using your smart business savvy. Words there is no way. Jerry jones is stephen. Jones don't have a tree in the scenario. That would be bad for business. That would be bad for them. There's no way they shouldn't be thinking about. Do we try to get a younger quarterback in this draft. All of this stuff is on the table and when we talked about this situation with that recently i said the leverage that that has is the fact that he can leave that is when you get leveraged the show watson how is creating his leverage. I want to leave. How carson winston creators levered. I want to leave now. That has not said that but we are all taking away. How old this this negotiation taking. And eventually we think both sides at least gonna get tired of say. Hey pay us the franchise tag and we'll walk out next year. So jeff let me come back to you because you have spent a lot of time telling me what the league expects about shawn watson. They expect him ultimately to get what they expect about. Russell wilson to this point. They don't expect it. What does the league expect to happen. Other people you talk to with that ultimately here in dallas. I mean the precedent is kirk cousins. We bring his name up a lot with dot prescott. He is even said the franchise tag can be your friend and to marcus. Point dak doesn't even need to say. I want to leave. He can simply say. I want to be here. And that's enough leverage in fact that's probably the best that's what kirk cousins essentially take. I'll play here. Just pay me. Just pay me. And i love. I love it here. And he ultimately left and scott mccoo the general manager of the team that was negotiating with kirk cousins at the time at one point look. The bridge was too wide if we didn't sign and back when we could have for a discount right when he became our starter. We were never going to sign him. That is exact same situation to me. That is now playing alice. The biggest difference is that i think with all due respect to him. A lot of people questioned whether kirk cousins was a great quarterback. There's a lot less of that question. I think marcus with dak prescott. They're just not the same level of player at this point right. I think that's a reasonable market. We didn't along on this but it's fired up thought. Go gee you absolutely right. Look at prescott. The reason why we are having this conversation is because dak. Prescott is a top ten quarterback. I don't think we ever thought.

"You know if you're windsor. Chair makers is i want to say. It's almost three inches thick. It's all the styles Broken down by region. And who made him at all the names then he s. She has another book on. Just the kind of odd styles that were going on whether set teaser commode chairs or you know cradles and stuff like that. And then she has a book just on the The business of windsor chair making at the time so going through all the records and you know how they produce things and some of their inventories and stuff like that was on the cover of remain book. There's a nantucket fan back so attributed to be made on the island the nantucket southeast coast of Of massachusetts it's a big fan back And leans way way back and you have got those extra support. Yep yep back yet. It's got the extra back to the sea and it's a it's a big sea and it's it leans way back so maybe you're at you know your standard dining chairs. You know anywhere from eight to twelve or fourteen degrees. This is like nineteen or twenty eight leans way back. And i kind of call it. The barcalounger of yesteryear meant is meant for the living room to be able to sit back and relax and it's wild and You know and the example that on her on the cover of her book is is just gorgeous and and you made one similar to this routine. Yeah yeah. i've made a pie. Made about a dozen of them. Okay dow over the years and it's a beautiful girl out of my finished the way it looks like in there with multi-colors paints and dan fayez sata north bennet street. School published an article. Maybe maybe fifteen or twenty years ago on how to do that. And find woodworking and It's a wonderful finish and and But it made a lot of those big comfy chairs and they're meant for a living room not meant for dining room at all and that's always been always been a favorite chair. Money to make in backpost are just extraordinary and especially that That joint with the with the harm back. They're coming in. Yeah yeah and it's There's a couple of ways of doing that. That's the square joy right. It's well we're going at an angle scourge at an angle. Yeah and each church chef. Each flange on the arm is a different angle. Because your post doesn't go back at at you know in a perpendicular plane from the seat meant that right so if you want to keep your arms fairly level your post comes through that at a diagonal if that makes i. Yeah how your is it a diagonally out to get it right. Yeah yeah. I ve been making those without mortis. It's just the arm goes into the post than the original ones got screwed or nailed and they actually had the old rosset nails they would just nail it on there and I used to put in screws and plug him Trying to figure out a way if there's an easy way to keep that kinda look at that arm being so big as it joins there and get more just in there. But i haven't figured out how to do that yet. So on the docket as we go to as we go to build them you know. I think yeah you have to fund chair. Yeah and i just posted one. That actually built a chair. You know a little while ago but never published it. It's a nice chair. I think way back in my feet. Have another one that i That's green that That i made one of what up to a customer. Up in new hampshire doron. It's it's a nice chair and it's pretty unique so from my number two there's We talked about charles macintosh right from the scottish guy architect designer you know really influential in the arts and crafts movement in the beginning of it and He had a he did. They must've been big at the age of tea houses at the time. Right where you can go in and buy like a coffee house restaurant bistro kind of place now and he did a couple of them the russian To russian room. Russian tea room. And the fucking about you. Yeah yeah and the the will not room cherish pretty neat but the tear looks incredibly uncomfortable. Yeah yeah yeah the thing. i can't remember. I can't believe. I couldn't remember the russian tea room but the little love some video or something i saw on your. The cheriton chair looked nice but did not look comfortable. Yeah yeah it's got you know pure vertical back. Yeah you know. But he's using the nice woods he's got a big pat up on top secret. Lean your head up against it. You know even though but again i suppose you know so. It's like hey we don't need our customer. Stay here too long. We saw him have a cup of tea and go around of thing tables and yeah but from a design perspective the elements he puts in. You know the big bold things and delicate things and and Trying to makes it a a nice looking chair. so how. How do you work details from a chair like that into the work that you do now here. I'm looking at you know how does how does the those backpost taper from the seat going up. You know the big tapers as is nice faring as it a curved taper is it Is it tapered at all. And if it doesn't take for the how's it looking. Make a to blackie on proportioned. You know you can look at the chairs and sale proportions on. That are pretty sweet. Right sees his chairs. Essentially broken down in thirds were most chairs or broken down shifts right so is the back is two-thirds and from the seat loans one-third right if it that to me is the very high back if i very high back okay. Very very high back. Yeah and yes. I'm looking at it from a design perspective from proportions and You know we can add it from proportions and movement of the chair. I said it. It looks uncomfortable. Because it's so damned upright. The you know the the chairs pretty bold. You know i guess guess. As as the rest of macintosh this work. You know kind of kind of reflect some of these. Some of these designers know it's reflected in the the chairs that they build. Yeah and it's in almost this piece. You can see how some art deco came out of this right in that right in that movement. Yeah yeah yeah right in that movement exactly. Yeah it's it's a interesting chair yet. Lucky says probably not uncomfortable is by very comfortable but Boy just the construction of that chair. That would be interesting. Yeah yeah that's definitely. Something has to be in production type environment. Because whoa may yeah. I don't know you know at the times. You know pretty old chairs. I don't know at the time what they i mean. They did a power saw that. But you know. I don't know if they chopped all those mortices by hand or what they did you know but yeah or you look at pictures. Some of the rooms you know. And there's there's twenty chairs identical you know to a mall all the same. Yeah i definitely had to come up with something. Yeah so moving on moving on to so have my number. Three as i've and i don't know if the same chair or they're just too closely related. But there's the morris chair in the sussex chair so again early arts and crafts. These are posting rung chairs right but very light and very delicate and they move so unlike a shaker chair. which is kind of blackie. and very upright. These have curved parts and the The arm post curve out the rungs on the side of the chair curve That has a rush seat. You know which is kind of much more. You've seen the more vernacular chairs You know the backpost her back a little bit the arms or curved a little bit and it's very it looks very delicate like you're going to sit in it and break it but but it's really not newer a bunch of guys that were making along that style at the time and there's they're being carried on right now you can find him on instagram. They're they're replicating. All the chairs that were made by by these guys bhai gimson lawrence neil marchmont workshop Can you find him on instagram..

"Welcome to the modern woodworkers association. A podcast about woodworking from folk. Who would work. Woodworking is what we do who we are and what we like to talk about so join us as we have a drink. Sit around and talk woodworking. Hi and welcome to the three hundred and thirty. Fifth episode of the modern woodworkers association podcast. I'm kyle bargaining. I'm here with my co host. Sean was new ski and more kicks today. Were asking david do yard. What is favourite. Chairs are actually has five favorite chairs coincide with the five questions. Since david's ori answered the five questions we figured we would Change things up a bit here but before we get started. Let's talk a little bit about some of the styles and influences of past and present Chairs and chair maker so So david i'll put it in your capable hands with this. This is this is a tough set of questions. Like saying like which is your favorite. It's you know because there's so many different styles and influences going on you know i mean. It's the windsor chairs which are pretty unique. And how they were made. And and you know. Especially the american windsor chairs. Some just gorgeous you know and Going on and you know you're ladder back to your posts. And wrongs mean that the shakers are famous for him but there were tons of those vernacular. I call them almost appalachian chairs that were just know made made by the farmer during the winter to get in you. Know and certainly. Brian bogs as his leapt on that and just made beautiful contemporary versions of that stuff. You know or or the vernacular versions of the ladder back going to europe. Like there are with the winters. Yeah okay the cost chair and spain or was posting about that recently. Yeah yeah and even windsors were being made there. Were making ladder backs all over the place to you know You know why. The the windsors became popular. I think because they were able to mass produce pretty quick and people were able to To afford they were kind of a common man's chair you know versus the kind of the chippendale style of the high society chairs that were in the upholstered stuff that was being made at the time. And i read read article where where some of the merchants were actually have their pictures their portraits done in a windsor chair specifically so that they would seem more like they're a common commoner than they were. A wealthy merchant said yeah. It was really really interesting. It was done I wanna say it was done by the museum in boston and beijing. The whole thing and the head of a whole series of these. These old guys near portrait's neuron windsor chairs and They said they did it because they wanted to make make it look like they were part of the common folk and not part of the the british aristocracy that was That was pretty interesting article. Yeah as sat for their expensive handpainted portrait. Yeah exactly you know and yeah and hey you know reported that philadelphia loan was supporting something like ten thousand chairs the year windsors. Gosh like we just yeah just thousands and thousands of these things you know and of course you know we had the we had the forest and the lumber to be able to make all that stuff in the You know. Connecticut has a huge history. Making windsors You know up and down you. Most towns had some kind of chair maker. they're making chairs so it was It was pretty interesting. You know and kind of look through the history. Some of the people that have been taken that you know and run with it. You know from the arts and crafts movement. You know the william morris gibson and stuff and they made they made the posting wrong ladder back style chair which really really nice in the arts and crafts movement did some pretty nice nice Stuff as well so this is a really tough thing. And i think i've actually got it down the six chairs said at that That i can talk about house having a hard time with. Yeah i think we got a special mention in there but the so who of past and present chair makers who. Who do who. Who's influenced you. I guess i would say like you know in the past you look at you know. There's not a lot of name thaddeus associated with windsor chair. Making rights kind of kind of lost a cb tracy though is a big chair maker in connecticut and a ton of stuff you know and i sent my high bac. Back was based off one at his chairs and You know so. It's hard to find names associated with some of those guys but You know some of the more modern guys manoukian you. Can you can pick them up. You know macintosh big person in the arts and crafts movement You know scottish Designer tons zone you know you know. The uc people build stuff a lot of the stuff that might petkevich builds style. As well as though dan pert in and stuff and i loved it and my first tariffs i built. I built you know kind of emulating some of the macintosh stuff He's got some beautiful stuff especially some that case is just outstanding. Yeah yeah just outstanding. Stephanie and he just designed whole buildings including all the content. You know and lucky enough to be in glasgow and be able to go into able to go into some of the stuff that he designed built. And it's just it's just gorgeous stuff. Yeah i think there are saw something. I don't know if it was scotland or in but there was some restaurant that had been in business for like a one hundred years yet room mate. Yeah think you might have been that. They were closing down but everything was macintosh that place. Yeah yeah yeah. He was He was big you know. And then you get into some of the you start coming into some of this kind of danish modern movement you know back ner samba loof. You know building on some of the stuff humane his rockers iconic rocker you know that that goes in and every and everybody tries to to emily. You know some of that stuff that but bam you know of course Nakashima you know The soul of tree in a he built some pretty iconic. Hoya stuff stuff as well so you you look at you. Look at all this stuff and it's like why like this from this tear in this this era in this from this can you kinda put them all together and you say hopefully you come up with something. That's not not too construed you know so there's a there's a ton of You don't even today. There's there's some germ acres of coming out and making some pretty nice stuff being talked about. You know but. I think you know one of my favorite. There's there's a curator at winterthur museum down in delaware Janet corine evans. She wrote three books on windsor chairs on the primary book..

Stephanie william morris gibson Sean five questions europe Brian bogs scotland thousands three books one hundred years delaware david macintosh six chairs today Fifth episode emily Connecticut kyle five favorite chairs

"Goodyear hotline to welcome in gary klein from the los angeles times. He's all over the rams beat these days we'll get the less here in a second. He's kind of waiting officially. But just take tickets right to the nitty gritty here. Gary what is sean mcvay. think about. Jared goff well you know. It's it's similar to less said yesterday. I think that's what was on some level a little surprising when sean mcvay ended the season With a question about Jared goff his. His response was that he's our quarterback right now and i think that That's what kind of set this whole thing in motion at least from a public standpoint That there there was an issue. That there's gonna be an issue and i think that Less the Did nothing to to you know. Move on that point yesterday. So that's where we are with. Jared goff and the rams as you mentioned a few years ago he's in taking them to the super bowl and now it appears he's on the trading block gerry. How how likely are they go in. And you covered them rammed. You've been there on the ground forever that they move on from him. Yeah it seems It's something that That i i just could not have imagined you know a few years ago. After that super bowl wins they gave him a hundred and thirty. Four million dollar extension with a hundred and ten million guaranteed. Tim and sean mcvay seems tied at the hip to have a great relationship I think at the moment at that. Time sean mcvay said. I hope he's stuck with me for a long time And now They're in this situation. I mean we of course look around the nfl. There's so many starting quarterbacks that now appear to be on the move. I did not think that goff would be one of them Moving him with that contract is not going to be easy I think the dead cap hit is about twenty two million And and the fact that they really have nothing there at the moment in in relief. Other than sean mcvay. Competency john wolford. Who's played one game and half of a first quarter so far so i don't think it's going to be easy because frankly you know jared goff the reason that it it seems like mcveigh wants to move on on some level is that off does not necessarily have the skill set of some of the other quarterbacks that have risen to the top of the nfl in terms of mobility and whatnot and You know it's it's not only a problem of moving him. It's finding someone that that thinks. He would be a good fit for them as well. Gary klein longtime la ten times rams reporter joining us. This morning on keyshawn. Jay williams zubin gary. Why hasn't it worked out. Basically since sean mcvay has taken the training wheels off of jere golf if you remember a couple years ago he was helping. Call the plays prior to the clock. Expiring in the headset since then jared golfing struggled. Well i think it's a combination of a lot of things I don't think we cannot underestimate. What the loss of first of all the injury to todd. Gurley and the loss of his production Put on the offense. That was a different offense when it's centered around todd. Gurley and keyshawn can attest to this when they had a deep threat. Like brandin cooks. Sammy walk and so much. Take off the top but more than anything else You know it comes down to execution. But sean mcvay is the play caller. He's a really good at falling on the sword and taking the blame for when things don't go right but in this case it seems as if he's abandoning that and you know play maybe play calling with the issue. Maybe there's some other issues as well but statistically and and you know you guys watch it as just like i do Just from a perception standpoint golf has regressed the last two seasons and I don't think there's ever been a whisper or a question about this is a guy that doesn't do the work that doesn't mean dedicated to his craft So all the sudden here we are at this point and it seems like the rams are on so many levels are just saying yeah. He's our guy for right now. Gary the obviously jalen ramsey post on instagram about potentially getting golic the shawn watson but. Let's be realistic here. Who would be the one. Qb that you think they would target. That could actually take the place of gerry. Goffin lead the team to wear. Sean mcvay wants to take them boy that. That's that's really hard to say. I mean i did not to be or not to give you an answer. Because i think there's obviously to shawn watson would be at the top of the list but you know when i when when i your producer reached out to me. I was thinking you know. Sam darnold has kinda gotta your situation. New york. Young mobile guy from southern california I couldn't put together a wishlist for you with the rams. Obviously there's some big names out there But if you had to say who's who's the most talented guy in that class talented especially a guy younger and whatnot. It would beat the shawn watson. And i'm curious to see what happens. You know the nba is a league that where the players have got more power. They can move around a little easier they can dictate where they wanna go. And i think this is an interesting situation With with the shawn watson and with you noted jalen ramsey has that tweet you know they share the same agent. It's gonna be interesting to see what kind of things go on behind the scenes And who winds up with the rams and also who winds up with jerry dot.

Jay williams gary klein Tim Sean mcvay Gary klein sean mcvay jalen ramsey Jared goff Sam darnold john wolford Gary jared goff southern california los angeles New york Four million goff yesterday shawn watson one game

"How you doing. Hey what's going on. Oh nothing much man. Glad to hear your voice you coach. We coach bill be in new england and obviously struggled a little bit both on offense and defense side of the ball. What do you think he'll do to retool this team to get them back into. Afc playoff type contention or you know. Bill is a very good football coach. He's a good evaluator talent. And you know. I think that He will look at his team and see where he needs to pump it. Up at what positions he needs to pop up and then try to address that This all season you know through free agency draft and i know there's an old adage in coaching. Is that good players. Make good coaches and so I think we all understand that. Realize that and so we try to get the good players aren't gonna make us look good you face the kansas city chiefs this year in eric the enemy office coordinator. How have they improved since then. Well i think that that really makes them better. Is that that system that they are running They're able to keep their guys together. And i think that everybody has grown in that system And and and the quarterback understands all the players around him with their abilities are With their but he expects them to do and likewise what they expect him to do. And and so A lot of times. You know these passing games. When he is moving around back there they move around to try to find the open spot so that he can get them the ball and he usually is able to get him the ball coach. Whatever you made out of everything. That's come out of houston with the show watson this off season well you know the sean is a competitive guy and i think he wants to be competitive And i don't know exactly what was told to him. are what he what. His expectations were And so i've seen Some media things about these unhappy and he might not want to be here Until i have a chance to talk with. John the hard for me to to say Exactly what he's thinking Would he made on whether you might wanna do or not do But you know in this game. A lot of times players are disgruntled and after they've had an opportunity to sit down with coaching management or whoever And gets things ironed out and then they turn out to be pretty good players There there's one that's kind of sitting right there. We was disgruntled coats. Go at tell the world and he could be a pretty good player now. Coach coaches is coaching deals. I wasn't that big of a pain. In the ass. I might have a mind to mandate some things. But i certainly showed up Let me ask you this Romeo when you look back sitting back it took you a number of years to finally get an opportunity to become a head coach in in recent years. There hasn't been a lot of black. Hires in the national. Football league is head coaches with. We use the word minority. We high behind that when you look at this year in particular you got seven jobs available in so far. None has been higher. None of the vacancies brought on black head coaches black now minorities. Black hair coaches one job left in a couple of candidates that still out there. Where does leslie frazier airbnb or and there's only one job. Houston texans. why do you. Why do you think we're still dealing with this sort of problem that we've been facing with as long as i've been around the national football league well key you know i think said you look at the nfl And and the structure itself Their owners who have The way with to pay salary and Be able to team by team. Whatever most of the time you know those guys have got ideas about what they want who they want and and i think they feel they have to satisfy the fan base okay and then when when you look into the fans looking the stands Many of the stands many of the seats goodbye. Corporate people And and many of the corporations are are predominantly white corporations. Okay and so now they are. They have to kind of satisfy that fan base even though they know what they've been preaching to the team is the best man wins and we don't play the best guy a lot of times. They don't see a black coaches being the best guy for them and their particular situation. And so Black coaches don't get hired as much and it's a little disappointing. This time that we have like you say seven open openings. Then there's only one left now and they'll black coaches high it I think that the league has tried to Try to help the situation with the rooney rule and nowadays in charter and proves the room a little bit by using this and lifting incentives. Still no black guys Have been hired to this point since like you say there's one job left an only time will tell you this black man. We'll get job. Sorry alto it's still a struggle To get where we think we need to be should be and we just have to keep fighting the battle okay. So you're you're particularly instructive this question because you're a black head coach. It's actually had multiple opportunities in the national football league. Gone into owners offices in one jobs more than once. I mean there are a handful of guys that have done it. The late great art shell too late. Great any green herm edwards hugh jackson. They come to mind. Those are just the ones off the top of my head so you tell me how that can be fixed considering. You're one of the very small group of black coaches that has had multiple head coaching opportunities in the nfl. Role i think. Nfl has tried to fix that by Making it mandatory that you interview Black coaches and and before that rule was passed. Not a lot of black coaches. Were getting interview now. At least guys are getting interview. And if you can do a good job in the energy and i'm not saying that the view the only thing that makes a difference but i think about mike tomlin relevant pittsburgh job is open unsalted. Mike tomlin had any chance of getting the job but he went in and he did a great job interview. You're going to hire and he's done a great job since he's been there. And and so. I think mr roomie tim can say hey. He did a great job and the interview. We felt good about him. We hired him and he's done a good job since he's been here and so he's had a long tenure and i think when other owners now turn around and look to see you know a guy like mike tomlin and his kind of tenure that will make it easier for those guys to say if i like a coach and i liked what he brings to the table right. I don't feel bad about hiring him now when we get to that day in that time. I don't know when that's going to be. But i think that that example is one that can be pushed for. It's a great point by you about tomlin because many people know if you remember back then the steelers ready to hire russ grimm. Not that there would have been a bad choice. Obviously mike tomlin has turned out to be the right choice. "It's an unbelievable story. Sunday night. I mean he broached by saying he and his teammates futures were uncertain and then in his normal tuesday radio slot. Aaron rodgers backtrack that. It's the big story. On this wednesday keyshawn jay will and zubin presented by progressive insurance. All of our guest. This morning join us on the goodyear hotline including romeo coronel former chiefs and browns head coach. That's my boy. Texans interim head coach this year things went arise. You probably know in houston. He'll join us here in nine minutes. It was so funny. I was when we talked about romeo coming on the show many years ago. He asked me to get him some tickets to a tennis match in wimbledon and i and i was trying to think that i ever get him from for him. Would i have him standing. There will call. I have to ask him. Because i don't remember. I just remember our conversation. But i think i got him for. That would be horrible if he actually took the transatlantic flight to the will call window in england ticket. No ticket is we have to ask him that. Because i sit in here and i was thinking about it. I'm like did i. Did i do that. You know. But i i'll asking or you can ask him whatever it doesn't matter. We'll ask him in nine minutes when he joins us on the goodyear hotline these coaches always come to me for tickets. Though you know sean. Payton kennedy says lead tickets about. How do you. How do you gotta do it. How'd do it for some reason jay. I had kenny chesney tickets given to me by money. Your country music fan. Yeah right country. Music huge. And so i wanted to give him a shot. Shot tells us story all the time sitting in the first row. He just was an assistant with the dallas cowboys in wanted to go. Oh i know what it was. I had connections in vegas. That's what it was okay. He can you name a country singer besides can chesney. Luna's ex is from that region of the country right. He's down there well. It has rocked the caveat onassis x now. What was the one that lives in south carolina. Breath houdini who there you go okay. I'm gonna go with george strait and we'll go straight to real or not really rogers. They come in now and now. I'm rolling out there willie nelson. I'm rolling little real or not real george strait for real one of the great. So here we go schefter. Put out a tweet. Chapter's gonna join us this morning tomorrow morning. Excuse me eight forty five. Am eastern and he's going to run through the biggest stories in the nfl. He put out a tweet a couple of days ago. That essentially said look he thinks. There's maybe ten quarterback locked in for starting jobs next year. Some know easy ones like joe burrow and patrick mahomes in summer a little less obvious like a ryan tannehill. Either you got big money. Or they're entrenched in their young guys but that leaves more than half the league open for possible changes at the quarterback position so we rounded up a bunch of guys that we legitimately think in some way possible could be moved but the question is will they be. That's the key in j. Or here to answer real or not real that these guys will actually be wearing a different jersey at this time next year. If you're lucky enough to be the super bowl this time next year right here we go. Let's start with the one. That's garnering the most conversation legitimately at least two shawn watson really not real real real key real real subarea gone over with. Bob is real. I two words bought for lisa. I'm out i'm out all right. If i'm shawn watson two words randy travis also like worth thanks for words admittedly two words combined anyway. Go ahead. subic less realistic. But it's still out there. Aaron rodgers relied okay. No no unreal. He he's not really standing green bay man. I'm using the same work. He used unreal. Not real unreliable. This almost seems like unofficially official. But until anything happens you just never know matt stafford. That's real matthew stafford. And i love the detroit lions organization at this moment in time for allowing him to his wife who put their house up for sale. That indicates that he is leaving. I love the fact that they're giving him in his agency. Permission to seek a trait matt. Matthew stafford has done in detroit. I think real that. He's on the move. Maybe a team like indianapolis could be a good fit for him. Yeah it's been a dozen years in detroit not a ton of success. Oh in three in the playoffs. Certainly not his fault. He's also had some issues off the field. This is referenced with his wife to be able to give him. An opportunity would be great. Matt stafford as many of you knew grew up in dallas speaking of dallas. Gac real or not real. No man not real. Why would they even put that up there stupid. That prescott is not going anywhere. He's gonna get paid being dallas. He's their quarterback. Makes no sense for anybody even be saying that prescott on the move zubin i if you can get the watson do you do it. You're not worrying to schon. Watson i'm just asking key don't kill the messenger of game but don't take the message trying delivery your food for wanting to message taking a message from somebody giving it to you trying to sell it to us under contract for next year. Is that prescott under contract for need to be under contract evan. They're not moving on. Why in the hell would they move on from him to get this. Sean give up all the pics on top of the money that they're struggling with to give it. That doesn't make any sense now. Man what i came here i got under keyshawn skin and we rattled them up. That's all i want from keyshawn next question. Yeah that's victory we should mention. of course the dacca's in a situation. Where if you hear some of the comments that jerry jones made about it almost seems like dax futures more secure than jerry's with the ways talking about exactly bring it back dak prescott. Okay now this one. This one is interesting. Sam darnold. I'ma say.

george strait south carolina randy travis willie nelson wimbledon Matthew stafford Matt stafford Sunday night joe burrow Sam darnold Aaron rodgers matt stafford england next year patrick mahomes houston Sean nine minutes ryan tannehill shawn watson

"Unlike last time she added looking at me coldly. I said nothing. I was always ready. I just didn't always have the figures kingsley wanted to see. I looked around the table on my so cold colleagues avoided i contact. They were pleased that somebody else was there to be. The target of kingsley's tempa. We waited in silence for another ten minutes before there was a sudden loud bursts of laughter from the hall and kingsley through open the door outside i saw cynthia disappearing down the corridor high heel clicking loudly on the stone floor i hit send on the email i had prepared on my phone. The show could begin. Come on then. Kingsley said to me. He sat down heavily in his chair. Let's get started. Haven't had time to look at that agenda. You sent typical thought. We looked at the neural agenda. Points the minutes from the last meeting. Where red and accept it and then each of the board members presented the results for their division. Kathy massaged said. They looked good kings that he didn't even try to hide his boredom. Good set kingsley. When they'd finished time for lunch Just one more agenda point kingsley. I said the serious fraud office is asking questions about our purchase of camberley electronics. Last year. everybody stopped as kingsley. Tend to look at me. What kind of questions. I'll company produces components for the car industry and last year we had launched a hostile takeover of a rival kambli electronics. It'd been bitta fight. Both on the stock market and within the board as company wouldn't i had advised against it. The price we had to offer per share was far too high in my view and it kept going up. You're just my bean counter. He shouted at me during one meeting. Do as you're told don't think you'll know good as it. Kings terrified the rest of the board and forth takeover. When the final offer was made i was the only member to vote against it. I made sure there's minutes with kathy. Saved for future reference. The sfo is investigating sharp price movements of campbell electronics. I told the room. It seems an unidentified buyer bought up a lot of their shares at the original price before we went public with our of course whoever. It was made a lot of money when we finally agreed to pay ten times. The original stock market valuation for the company. What does that do with us. Also kingsley. I don't know but a police officer visited me yesterday..

"Day. Looking video right now. Patrick mahomes throwing passes the Dennis Brian. Oh boy musical chairs or the chairs so I was trying to figure out we left out Andy Dalton by the way the red rifle I am sitting here trying to piece together the musical chairs I had to get up for a minute and I was walking by the microwave and I heard you guys talking about something about meeting yourself in. Would you like yourself. Have you met yourself? Would you WANNA hang out with yourself? Is that what I heard as I walked past the microwave? Would you like yourself if you make yourself as a question? I think that I would love myself. I think it'd be best friends with us. You're very likable. Yeah like just seems fun. You would like to hang out with yourself all the time. Everyone loves Chris. Yeah everyone loves Chris. Very high rate ability would you? Would you want to hang out with yourself there? I don't think I'd want to do. We know this for a fact that Chris has a High Q. Rating score what is it? Yeah he's just high likeability is eater. Okay how do we measure that? What if you really was high curated? I just know everywhere he goes so I believe Chris what he says he would like himself. I do because everyone loves Chris. Who doesn't want to have with Chris? Chris is fun billy. You're tricky one. I'm not certain you would hang out with yourself. I love you but I think you hang out with. You would be exhausting for you. I don't like hanging out with many people so I don't know that I'd hang out with myself. I like hanging out billy. Billy was making Quirky and fun observation. But also what he's saying is billy's neurosis to have someone else have that as well. You just kind of go crazy. You have around. You have to be that guy but no one else can play that role as well. Billy would walk up to himself and just like work like this huge monologue and it would end with. It's not you. It's me even though I wait a second. Is it not you not me? If it's if we're the same person right. Bill is a compliment. We're saying we're saying we love you. We love hanging out with you. Can't have enough Chris's in your posse. Okay you can't have enough. Chris is at listen to have more than one. The add more than one. That's fine okay. You can only have one billy in the crew. That's what I'm trying to send its unique. That's what we're trying to tell you. Thank you now you say Chris is. There's so many I mean. Jeez now I can't get enough. Chris is what I'm saying. Okay Billy yes. That's what I'm saying. Wait so you're insulting me. Then yes but I'm saying it lovingly. Because you're so different unique that we can only handle one of you right. What being your so unique me and Chris very similar right. We are similar types now selling concert like this. I feel like we're similar billy. I don't feel there's anyone that's similar to you on this show you're one of a kind alison a little. Bit Mall. She's no longer here. I mean she's Microwave. Maine's so billy which I guess I don't know I love you. That's all I'm saying. So Roy would not more than one of that would not be now love that. I mean we had a second one of you. It would be exhausted. Yeah Yeah we'll try right trying to explain this. Wow power through wow I power throughout the EU swallowed. Whatever that was I certainly. I'm hungry lunchtime and now full Roy. Would you like to hang out with yourself? No no three scotches in Roy. No it's a different Roy. Detri- Roy we want all the time to be honest. But which. Roy Has the scotches in them. This Roy or the other Roy. That's true though if it's other Roy wouldn't like him. I want any. Bj Roy if Roy meets any BJ Roy. I would say that this Roy would not like him. I agree with that but if this Roy is a bj Roy and then a regular right comes up. I think he would like it. I don't think going to hang out with any of the Roy's Ashley now. I think I think sober Roy joy hanging out with drunk. Roy I really did. Who would you clone in this room? Question Tony Probably looking at Mike would you like? Would you like hanging out with yourself? Probably not Why not most people don't like being so probably have the same effect on myself just like why you feel like you would end up. Not Liking Yourself. Probably just seem to have that effect on the president. I don't know I feel like maybe just. Maybe because that's likable Chris. I think everyone here's fun. I hang out with all of you. That's why we never hang out. Though far we live like counties away for actually went to a panther game with Chris. We hang out. Yeah we all do the only time we've ever hung out but we were all there though like all another gave you a two week. No it wasn't one week like last month I mean. Would you like hang out with yourself? I think I would like it at first. And then after a while this guy's really annoying and I think I would really wear thin on myself handsome dashing. How do you feel about me hanging out with myself? I would like that first of all I would. You would love yourself like you would love yourself if if there were another Stugatz and you guys hung out together. I believe it's called organized. Crime MONEY MONEY MONEY.

"Another one. The highest paid backup in the League at his time and tastes him hill. Drew brees announce. He's coming back to the saints right. We're going to have to pay them. Money and drew brees has proven over time that he will not take your discounts. Who Do you guys think is the first person to not get a chair? Do Man wouldn't it be plenty of? Who's who is Tom Brady? Yeah well there are reports that the radio is as a chair is a chair. There were reports are. The raiders are willing to offer him sixty million dollars over two years. That's a big chair. Tom Brady we all know is going to have a chair. But if that chair is in Las Vegas. That leaves their car without a chair. He just posted a picture with Chicago. Would be an upgrade at the quarterback position. So say he goes Chicago Chicago Mitch. Trubisky now needs a chair chair right but teddy bridgewater still doesn't have a chair takes on hill. Those chairs tasted use me out. I don't know what made him an electric to guard. It's a good. It's a good point by point solid backward Going to have a chair. Janet Hillary Tanna L. HAS IT share that important. We establish all the potential people who would have a chair trubisky without a chair. I think Mike is Right. I always saw rivers would be a nice fit with titles. Does he take channels chair? What happens to Fitzpatrick I we can we can. We don't care about him. I'm pretty sure you'll end up in the AFC. Okay maybe New England. He's played for all the teams but that what what if he goes to New England? Replaces TOM BRADY SPHERE? And they keep winning. This is all jokes aside. You obviously have the quarterbacks you have Derrick Henry which is a very interesting decision that the titans have to make most people that are into analytics and just advancement measurements and just know what happens to a running back. Saudi say. Don't spend that money on a running back. But Derrick Henry has been defying all logic for an se back or a big back since he got into the League. But then does that mean. He's do he's still has top line speed. Which is crazy. But I wouldn't know by the fall is right around the corner. You look at the Super Bowl champions and almost every single one of them are paying next to nothing for the running steaming. Williams is actually one of the higher paid running backs that have won a super bowl. You saw team. That just proved you could do it with anybody at that position. If you have the rest of your Rosser built right I mean so much of the titans identity and you saw was successful for them. They buy the thing about Mike is say and they were running a derrick. Henry is a reason that the titans got that close to the super bowl but thinking about the teams that were actually in the Super Bowl. This year I made two of the three. I believe niners. Running backs went undrafted. Most on like eleven rice. There's there's definitely a roster construction formula. Nfl that that seems to be more and more prevalent every year. You don't pay on running backs and your quarterback. Ideally you have him on some sort of discount whether it's because he's on his rookie scale or because he's Tom Brady and he and he keeps giving money back right if you can save money in those two positions and spend everywhere else. That seems to be the kind of formula for championship caliber. Nfl team and then you have the guys who are going to be drafted. That are out there as well. So you have to. You Have Joe Borough. This is GonNa Miss Jones more chairs. You also have to make a decision in Kansas City expecting that Patrick mahomes going to get the biggest possible contract. So there's a lot of interesting moves out there we're seeing a sea change in the NFL. No doubt if Brady leaves New England which I don't think he's going to do but if he did. Who WOULD BELLA CHECK? Be Most likely to sign the fill that share. That's I I'm Richard Fitzpatrick just because he needs a complete the circle in the AFC. Well maybe it's percent though. Because he needs a chair he loves bruce. Atty LOVES PROCESS AFTER PERCENT PERCENT FORMER PATRIOT. Obviously but he did trade percent but I think I can also see him like. Let's say it depends. Tom Goes if tom goes to the titans. It ballot check just simply taking tannehill. If Tom goes to the raiders. Do you think he would take Derek Carr? Do you think musical chairs by law. This amazing at Brady. I think Brady should go to the cowboys where I think he should. I houses for Patriots. Signing where's DAX. And then where does that go? I crazy man. Jack needs to share his jer. How `Bout Tastes Hill England? Oh they would they would they would. They wouldn't ma- no chance. No doubt a chair. Watch bill ballot. Check do that. Wildwood New Orleans Senate there. Well No. He's A. He's a restricted free agent. And you wouldn't be able to afford them way but at this place at the reason I think Brady should go to the cowboys. Is I think Jerry Jones would love to have Tom Brady. I think Jerry Jones would pay Tom Brady the money he wants and I think the cowboys are as close as any team the NFL to making you do a super bowl to it. Just said right. If the opportunity with the cowboys presented himself the presented itself. He would play for the cowboys. Tom Brady is a free agent. Choose the cowboys I mean. You GotTa get draft. Here's another musical-chair right now. The CO FAIL UNLESS YOU'RE DALLAS TRAE. Dak You trade all the way up trae. Dacic a future first round. Pick to get up into the top five. He could take to us the bengals but they also signed Brady. Wow because you have to play for a couple years learning under the greatest quarterback to ever live about that the Gavois co-favorites right now to draft to a tongue alot are the Detroit lions who are sitting at three and the Miami Dolphins at five. Both like minus ten because the expectation is to get to. You'RE GONNA have to trade up right but it's also lying season my and who better to lie than the Lions who have already put out a denials at Matthew Stafford is available and we're Stafford means chairs. This is crazy buttons. The sometimes.

"Okay so drew brees. Steph one of his road to recovery by the way is complete. He posted that on instagram matters that is the face of a man who was going to miss consecutive weeks for the first time since two thousand three and you say he's he's trying to give everybody thumbs up the best that he can after the surgery shefty. I WANNA come right I to you because when we went through to that sound bite I heard you say under your breath. I love this topic. Why do you hurt you because everybody assumed that. Teddy Bridgewater is going to be the quarterback quarterback because he's the highest paid backup and the National Football League but don't forget that there is a love affair in that organization with Tatum Hill and tastes hill was the more impressive quarterback in the preseason and tasted. They'll skillset running around out there making things happen seems more conducive to the way the game is played today and so while they may play both while they may give Teddy Bridgewater shot. I believe that in the absence of drew brees teasing no he's the guy that rises up here. That's my expectation. I I mean first of all. I just have to acknowledge the fact that we're in a world now where the backup white quarterback is the one that's running around in the pocket pocket passer so I just take a second acknowledge that he plays more to your point. He plays much more like drew. brees reminds you a lot more of drew brees taste and I think this gamesmanship. I think it's absurd. Sir I think they're doing this to try to force their opponents to prepare for multiple things I think we'll be absurd for them to have paid teddy bridgewater way they did because the reason why they did that was to anticipate a transition to him at some point and then they're going to bring a guy who mostly stars in Gadget plays in special teams not to say that he can't play quarterback but that's not why he's here. Let's talk about a schematic. Kinda the fans at home when you're in defensive meetings green you only have so much time to prepare for your pony so now if Tastes Hill might start I got waste four probably periods of practice working on on gadget plays for taste some hill zone read the inside zones the QB powers and all that stuff teddy bridgewater. I think is the better more like drew brees passer but the shefty's point pays him. He'll play special teams teams. He played some tight end. He played some slot receiver. He plays some wildcat running back. All three of their contracts are up after this year hill and Bridgewater Teddy Eddie Bridgewater and tastes meal Teddy Bridgewater move on Yeah. He will go somewhere else tastes hill they will not let leave New Orleans. So what does that tell you as it pertains to the quarterback situation. They will not let him go because they love him and his future. Don't you think cheap takes them. Hills cheaper guy what's army knife hit not trying true to be. I mean he played more it receiver last year I would. I would think that he did at quarterback. I mean he he's running down on kickoffs. Jerry get started here about the healthy package of plays as this week. I would be surprised if he started game and in crunch time they have takes them hill under center in the fourth quarter trying to put the game away. There were two things happening at once here also for Teddy Bridgewater clearly. They're trying to still win a championship. He's also playing for a lot of. He plays really well for five six seven. Whatever it is weeks later someone is going to bring him in as their starting quarterback next year teddy and tastes both plan thing for a lot of money it teddy bridgewater make correct me if I'm glad that he's twenty six years old. It'll feels like it's been around a very long time. He is still a very very young player. This is a guy who could have an entire act somewhere else a full chapter somewhere else if he plays well over these next few weeks or the game of the weekend for me no question in the Ravens and the chiefs in Kansas City. This is the most intriguing match-up because of the quarterbacks Patrick mahomes taking on the Mark Jackson last year. These two teams played played an absolute classic mahomes leading the chiefs to a come from behind win. Hey what remains the only regular season Game Lamar Jackson Law. The money lines for this matchup are incredibly lopsided. According to Caesar's Kansas City is minus two ninety Baltimore's plus two forty five four context. That's about the same odds the raptors were listed got to beat the warriors before the start of the NBA finals. Obviously Kevin Durant is playing. That's an entirely different conversation so we talked a little bit about the quarterback. DOC match ups here Lamar Jackson Patrick Mahomes. The world loves mahomes for all the obvious reasons. Let's see if Lamar Jackson in a huge kind of statement game solidifies what we've seen the first few weeks what do you expect in. This game is expected to be much closer game than the odds suggests in part. I mean the odds their glamour franchise at this. Point Casey is a popular team so I think the odds are skewed because of the vet but last year the Ravens really one that gay they had over ninety percent probability at a certain point in that game before we had this absurd wordplay and there was another penalty that was questionable that causes that setup the wind the chiefs and that game just want to make sure everyone knows this was on a fourth down play on the last destroyed complete that they wind up losing the game that was mahomes signature moment. I thought of the entire season. I'm not sure to actually be closer like nick suggested. I think it's a great litmus test for the Ravens. Just how good are you. Lamar Jackson has been phenomenal in this offense for two weeks. Hat mahomes has been phenomenal in his offense for about twenty plus odd weeks so if I'm the ravens it's a great litmus test because the chiefs right now or the cream of the crop well just how good is boy. It's also litmus test on just how important defenses anymore in the NFL NFL because we know what Mahomes is and and but we also know the ravens genuinely good defense and the chiefs do not or at least we don't think they do. They've played too bad teams to start the season or not teams. We expect that the quarterback the first week in the first quarter of the first game so if there is a significant value still to having a good defense the Ravens. I I have the advantage I mean I think this is not necessarily end all be all our or a kind of a decision on whether defense is important and this ravens defense is weaker talent wise than they were lashing. They've lost pass rushers so I don't necessarily think that it's all on the defense better defense than Kansas. City well absolutely but we also know that Casey. I don't think it's a similar matchup. Casey is a much better offense. I would think then the ravens because they have Patrick Mahomes. Perhaps but I mean this is the conversation we're having is as Lamar Jackson. All of a sudden ascended to a level where that isn't quite as it's easy to see. This is why you go Pero Thomas a big bucks. This is why you get one of the best if not the best safeties and all the football to go out there and Roman safety because now you have to guard the likes so of Watkins Travis Kelsey etc.. This is why you make those shefty. I'll just say it you know who would look awfully good in the Kansas City uniform if they want to win the Super Bowl that fellow we were talking about at the beginning getting the hour is GonNa get traded out of. Here's the issue there with your Jacksonville. You have to know that Kansas City is going to finish the twenty nine thirty thirty first thirty second pig so their first round pick is going to be devalued so you need more back from the chiefs than you would from the other teams because the chiefs we know are bona fide super bowl contender and that that makes it even more difficult for Kansas City to acquire a guy like jail. I agree. I would still be fascinating to see happening so that's the best game on the NFL the schedule this weekend but it's not the biggest football game of the weekend that one comes from college number seven Notre Dame at number three Georgia and even though the ranking sounds close Vegas Vegas has the dogs as a fourteen point favorite and if history is any indication an Irish upset would be pretty historic. Brian Kelly has never beaten an AP repeat top five opponent. Oh and four with notre dame outscored by over eighteen points a game during those matchups the fighting Irish program meanwhile one eighteen against top five opponents in the last twenty years the last such win coming against number three Michigan all the way back in two thousand five and so it is fascinating to me again the number three seed. I seven rank and it's a fourteen point spread. Does this feel like a two touchdown game to you. It definitely does because Georgia is that good and Georgia is proven to that good. This is a game Greenie. Were Jordan needs to prove. They are in the one eight category right now. Everybody in the world typically has one Alabama Clemson a notch under you. You Have Georgia. We'll take from your third year there. It's time to be the man we've tried to make you the man go take it and then the Andrea Swift running back. That is the most explosive running back in college football. He might not be the best but he's the most explosive to me. Georgia has a lot to prove in. This notre. Dame is going to pull off. What would be a significant upset. Their quarterback is going to have to be brilliant. That's the only the way they can do it as a quarterback which is why. I don't think they can end book leads the team in passing and it's tied for the team lead in rushing phenomenal player ever since he came in last year for when Bush has been lights lights out but to beat the bulldogs. You can't be doing this. You can't have your quarterback meeting to scramble for touchdowns and meeting the path for touchdowns. Notre Dame's missing Defar Armstrong at running back so they're missing some pieces but Georgia is to balanced to go out there and get along. We'll have more time tomorrow to take a close. Look at this game but this is the first monster game. It feels was like on the college schedule this year. This is a playoff game happening in September. Let me get up and go quickly around the world of sports for the second time in her career. Washington's Elena dilettante voted the WNBA most valuable player. She'll get her award tonight before game. Two of the semifinals don was the runaway winner. She got forty. One of the forty three first first place votes. Let's go to baseball as we get up and go to mets rookie slugger pita Lonzo. It is forty ninth home run of the season last night in a win over the rockies at ties Mark Maguire wire for the second. Most home runs by a rookie ever Aaron. Judge has that record with fifty to set two years ago elsewhere Astros Starter Garrett Cole became the second fastest pitcher ever to reach three hundred strikeouts in a season struck out ten last night throwing eight innings in Houston's three two win over Texas the wind also the Astros one hundred of the season fastest. They've ever gotten there. They also clinched a postseason part so it was a very busy night for Houston and it is a very tight race for baseball's number one seed the Astros. They win the race to one hundred games that one gave up the Yankees. The dodgers are to back all three teams have nine games remaining of those only the Yankees play a potential playoff team the the rest of the way if Patrick mahomes off the table. Who would you build an? NFL team around start thinking will answer that question coming up and we you know what's early but has anyone here ready to proclaim the cowboys the best team in the NFC we go on the clock as we continue this hour get up on ESPN okay. I want everyone to take a look. At this long. Live sports. There is a new member the bills Mafia.

"chairs" Discussed on Stuff You Should Know

"Tuck so here's where it's possible that peer already had Papas on chairs. Just no one was really paying attention to them. it was probably soldiers. American soldiers returning from Vietnam who had seen these chairs in brothels in the in Southeast Asia and we're like holy cow. There's a pimp chair right there and they're selling them. I totally got to get one of those or people went over to military people's houses saw them in their houses and then also saw them pure one in these are really cool one way or another they just hit just the right nerve and definitely by the mid seventies they were all the rage in the United States as far as home decor is concerned yeah and it's it's occurring to me. We haven't even described one because I just assumed papa. John's runs were so ubiquitous. If seventies or eighties even hanging out in the nineties probably that you know what one is but you might hear it called a retained chair yes or perhaps a bamboo or like a moon chair yeah and there were different models over the years somewhere smaller head four legs and like a smaller cushion the one when I think of Papa John I think of the almost comically large round saucer that is not attach approach to the round base right it just you can angle it and move it around. You can make it completely flat like a bowl of cereal or you can tilt it up. If you WANNA look like was Isaak's yes sure although those chairs are different in those are awesome too yeah. It's like a retain woven king chair thrown from like Prom pictures in one thousand nine hundred eighty three yeah but that's what the pope is on is in the big fish bowl when that I associate with that word had a very very large cushion a lot of times it was they had like flowers on it or palm trees or something like that. I just reminded myself of a PF Tompkins bit. Uh where he he talks about how it used to work in a hat store they had all sorts of hats and people would come in they'd be like let me try and one of them king hats and he would say say wha what's the matter with. You and I both know that that's called the crown right king hat. WH Why did you call King. He doesn't way better than me but kills. I just called it a King Chair and then you corrected me quite rightly. It's a throne is what I meant. Oh polly Tompkins the best the best so that's what associate with the pope is on although like I said there have been other models and over the years they've evolved into like instead of bamboo it would be like woven string and stuff like dad is the support base yeah or metal. They're like a lot of people have said like no. No you don't have to associated with hippies because they were definitely associated with hippies and artsy she can definitely kind of like that whole like what you call it but the same people that had beads in their doorway probably exactly and you could buy that at pure one to right but now people are saying well wait a minute if you get rid of the basically replaced the base with something like with kind of thin tapered stick legs like it makes it's suddenly mid century modern so people have rethought it and it's kind of made comebacks here there but if you ask me that. POPs on chair that you you described where you can move the ball and be the serial yourself that is that's the all-time great one but you just have to have the right room for it because it totally ruins everything everything else in the room. If you have a theme going that's not Papa John. Themed yes and be prepared to drink plenty of my ties. Nothing the wrong that and John Kelly also found a bunch of people in here that he dug up through social media and stuff that had stories that was Kinda cool this one lady from Malaysia said in her native have Malacca it was a very big thing in the seventies to shoot studio portraits of your kids and the smaller versions of these yeah which is when they think they started introducing cushions which means people were sitting around in these things without cushions. Just the re Tan part sounds pretty awful. Yeah that's no good but that's yeah so they think that by the seventies for sure these things were commonplace in the Philippines and that they got picked up by yeah then you can still buy these brand new right. I mean you can get them used online virtually any day of the year yeah that's another you can find trampolines impose. Papas on chairs in the classifieds all the time but yeah I think pure one like if you type in his own chair dot com takes you appear one papas on page and they have them. I looked and they're cheaper than you think. They're like fifty five bucks. I think for the highest end one now. I'm seeing some look here. This one's one eighty right okay. I mean like just the traditional national good kind that you and I were talking like the wicker. Tan version yeah the cool the other kind of like the hanging basket ones as well yep is very cool. Just make sure are you hanging on a sturdy buttress everybody for sure well since. Chuck said Sturdy Buttress. We don't do listener mail then that means that we are at the end and of this short stuff so short stuff stuff. You should know production iheartradio's. How stuff works for more podcasts from IHEART radio. Is iheartradio APP apple podcasts or wherever you listen to your favorite shows..

"chairs" Discussed on Fashion No Filter

"Providing a refreshing point of view on global trends and their effect on the business of fashion. I know I for one have relied on her inciteful analysis of the corporate side of the industry on more than one occasion Lizzy. Thanks for joining Cami. And I in the studio today. Thank you very much for having me. It's great to be here. So Lizzie can you explain what people in the fashion industry mean when they talk about the designer musical chairs phenomenon. Sure. So historically, executives and designers state at the top of fashion houses for a very long time. For decades industry was very resistant to change, and that's all changed in the last decade because of two things number one. The demands of the industry there is more and more demand for product more times of the year. And of course, the rise assoc. Media and digital. And that has massively sped up these employment cycles, so forget a decade now five seasons is the norm for designer at the top of a major fashion house. And you know, if they're not performing then they're out if they burn out that also out, but because actually there's only a limited number of houses that people are really interested in and there's only limited cost of characters. It's the same faces over and over again running for the same spots. Who would you say is generally the first one out would you say, it's the head designers that most likely to be stepping down all all the corporate side, asking them. I think it's both. I think you'll seeing a real Chun both in the boardrooms on the back rooms. But I mean, there's a lot of the studios a full of people that have stayed there for decades. It's it's it's the studio heads that are really the main stays in through the designers that I think really burning out fast. But I guess the question is now is whether there is a burnout issue, actually, these big designers don't want to be there anymore. So if you look at someone like raft like heady, they chose to walk away. They decided that actually the big brands or that current structure wasn't for them, and they decided to go elsewhere, even kissed at balanced guy was quoted saying that he was tied of like how he was being sucked. Dry. An almost got like sued for it. Right. Exactly. Exactly. And I guess, you know, the the big changes is the designers and now bronze themselves you've historically the Browns with the brands and the designers were the the puppet is behind the screen and now they have their own brands to manage, and I guess they bounce things off and decide whether it's worthwhile. And all right. So well, it's obvious that having a designer for such a short time can create a challenge in terms of putting their true, Mark on the collection is the counter argument, not on some level that it does give young up and coming designers the support system that they need to prove themselves. I mean, I think it's a mix. I think yes at one level is a big support system. They get the PR machine. They get the funding. They get executive backing, but at the other level the pressures are enormous and. I think it's it's a surprise that a lot of the bright young things emerging out onto the scene. Choose to set up shop on their own. I think they've taken decision on that and decide that they'd rather stay independent, and what's also changed the market in regards to that is that a lot of the talent now is secured by LVMH and carrying by buying up the small brands or buying stakes in the brand's, historically, you know, if you wanted to be a fashion designer you spent a.
