And with us now Chad Merrill with storm team four Chad, it sounds like our cooling trend is about to start. Yes, it is. If we have lots of cloud cover out there right now, our temperatures in the 40s, a cold front coming through here this morning and John and Michelle, let's call France going to come through with a wind shift a little bit later. So we have a lot of clouds, the clouds will rapidly thin out between about 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the winds will really start to pick up out of the northwest, that's a 35 miles an hour temperatures this afternoon around 52°, and the sun will feel like a combination of, yeah, warmth from the early March sun angle, which is higher, this time of the year. But we also have the wind chill factor to consider outside. So it looks will be deceiving as wind chills will be in the 40s. Now, tonight, that brisk wind will continue, our wind chills will be in the mid 20s, even though your car thermometer will read about 35°, lots of sun China on Wednesday, the high near 50, mid 50s on Thursday, and a little rain snow mixed down here on Friday, not expecting any accumulation temperatures though in the low to mid 40s, about 10° below average, and Saturday will be downright gusty with temperatures only in the 40s. 36 in Hagerstown 39 and Aspen Hill still cloudy right now in Ashburn at 39°. "Was press secretary during the first 16 months of the Biden administration before landing an MSNBC last May. Coming up after traffic and weather, the top stories were following for you this hour. New research on the vaccine mandates many cities imposed fines they made little difference in slowing the spread of the coronavirus or in raising the number of people who were vaccinated. Renters now paying a greater percentage of their income for their homes as wages have failed to keep up with rent hikes. History is made in Virginia after yesterday's special election for a seat in Congress. For more on these top stories in just minutes. 7 48. And we have traffic and weather on the 8s with Jack Taylor in the traffic center. Part with our off and on delays, Maryland running two 70 south through urbana, then getting into Germantown toward Montgomery village avenue, but slower as you approach montrose road to go down the spur, two issues on the southbound spur, first one had been after democracy boulevard in the far left HOV lane, then another one just before you got down to the beltway that was in the right lane. Trouble knew in Rockville on Georgia avenue going north as you approach Emory lane, the crashes along the left side, stay right to get by right now, blocking the left lane on the left turn lane. Sounds like the crash along the right side is affecting the ICC headed west after New Hampshire avenue. Hopefully they can get that over onto the shoulder. The wreck in college park was on the shoulder inner loop after route one as you head down toward the green belt metro. Everything there had been on the left shoulder outer loop delays remain central avenue to the John Hansen highway, inner loop south of town. That's lining up in saint Barnabas road headed down toward the Woodrow Wilson bridge. Now you will find we're slow in Virginia, bellway inner loop coming right out of Springfield off and on, headed to two 36, new trouble on 95 going northbound between route three Fredericksburg and the rappahannock river bridge, the wreck, stay right to get by, rest of the trip northbound, some slowing and lorton toward newington, the work on 95 south, is headed before 6 30 Stafford taken away that far right lane. It was emergency utility work in Fredericksburg, slowing traffic en route one down your massive pontics church road filed a crew direction. There were a couple wrecks at a Burke. One was on 6 44 at Lee chapel road the other at Burke center Parkway and Berkeley road. Slow it in the district, leave an oxen cove I two 95 headed north toward laboratory road, then a little heavier to get him to the 11th street bridge, south D.C. two 95 delays at a Maryland stretch towards east capital street, and we're a little busy now as you leave the 11th street bridge onto the freeway, headed west toward the third street tunnel. "Clients who've been hurt in auto accidents or victims of medical malpractice. Visit GB lawyers dot com and feel better. I'm Rita Kessler WTO P traffic. Storm team four's Chad Merrill, how are we looking as the sun comes up today? Yeah, not too bad this morning, our temperatures will quickly rebound into the 50s. We have this frontal system that's across Ohio that will kind of sweep through. It's more of a wind shift line and the winds are going to pick up behind it, but don't be surprised to hear a rumble of thunder or see a brief shower, everything is anything that's going to last about ten minutes or so. That'll be out of here and then between about four and 6 o'clock, right before the sun sets, the winds pick up pretty quickly and also our temperatures will rebound with lots of sunshine into the 60s. So it'll be a few degrees warmer than yesterday, but we'll have the added winds. It'll be a downslope you win, so it's not gonna be one of those cold chilling winds. Temperature tonight in the 30s and 40s, cloudy, some mist and sprinkles, 50 that will be it for on Wednesday, and then Thursday, guess what? We are in record territory with a high of 80° of breezy southwest wind as a warm front lifts north and then on Friday the cold front comes through. We are only in the 50s and then over the weekend we're in the mid 40s to low 50s, but at least things stabilize so we're not going from one extreme to another over the weekend. 36 and Hagerstown 40 and elegant city, 39 right now in Ashburn. "Near mom marker one 19 at last report blocking the right side. Dave dildine WTO traffic. Alrighty, let's toss it over to Chad Merrill for this forecast Chad. Tell us what's up. Well, we have some light rain here in the district to the west is where the steadiest rain is, then that is along the spine of the blue ridge into the Shenandoah valley and across Northern Virginia. That rain will continue to lift north and skirt Washington, so I think the heaviest rain is just to the west of Washington and it'll stay there for the next couple of hours. Now it's not going to cause any widespread flooding, but there's going to be some ponding of water on the roadways through the evening and then finally that rain will taper to drizzle here by about 7 30 or 8 o'clock this evening. We will have fog and our temperatures are going to warm up, continue that warming trend tonight ahead of our Arctic cold front, which is moving across the Midwest. Temperatures tomorrow start out in the upper 40s to low 50s. We end up in the 20s though in the afternoon. The winds will gust to 40 miles an hour as this impressive cold front moves through, head of what will be considered a bomb cyclone, it is an actual term. It's a very strong area of low pressure that is developing and this particular storm will be in southern Quebec as it develops tomorrow afternoon. And that will send the cold air our way in the wind gust. Besides the wind gusts we're going to have to deal with Apache ice areas and that will occur because the moisture won't completely dry out some of those sheltered areas, some of those areas that are shaded. And because we're going to have a couple of peaks of sun. So just watch out for that in your neighborhoods, also some of the side streets. We drop into the low 20s tomorrow afternoon, but we drop even more tomorrow night. We are in the lower teens with wind chills below zero dress up in multiple layers. Make sure you have every article of clothing you can have to keep warm this weekend. We are in the low to mid 20s over the weekend, fortunately the wind relaxes just in time for Christmas Day. Crystal flood advisories and warnings continue for the lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. We are going to see the steady rain taper to drizzle today. Temperatures in the 50s occasional drizzle, some fog in the nearby ridges 50s overnight, a steady rain redevelops on Sunday, that could increase the potential for some flooding late in the day and early on Monday. Again, we're in the 50s and northeast breeze ten to 20 with gusts to 30, and then finally The Rain ends on Monday. I am storm team four, Chad Merrill. Right now we have 59° in hyattsville 54 and Fredericksburg and 59° in eastern on Maryland's eastern shore with some light rain moving through the area, and we continue to track what was once hurricane Ian and it's moving to the northeast. We're expecting the rains as you just heard to pick back up and become heavy tomorrow. Storm team four meteorologist clay Anderson tells us how best to get ready. With temperatures only in the 50s, it's going to feel rather raw out there right now. So if you're out and about, make sure you have a heavy jacket under your raincoat because again, it's going to feel cold, The Rain is going to be cold because the high pressure system from the north is really driving that cold air. So this is not tropical rain that you'd have from a normal tropical system. Ian has lost his tropical characteristics. It's all about the cold rain and the wind that would plague us all weekend long. Stay with WTO or weather alert station for the latest as this storm continues and the bad weather from Ian won't stop the annual blessing of the animals at the Washington national cathedral. And the flood warning in effect for Anna rundo and prince George's county has been extended until four 45 a.m. Thursday. That's only because the creeks and streams continue to rise, not that additional heavy rain is going to trigger additional flooding, and it's just that the earlier rain is contributing to the rising creeks and streams, all that runoff is delayed after we get the heavy downpours. We still have a couple of light to moderate showers to the west that will move across the district, but it's not going to contribute to any additional flash flooding. We do have some concerns though between Charlottesville and Richmond for some flooding to develop overnight in our southern suburbs. Otherwise, the flood watch will likely be allowed to expire at 11 p.m. and the flash flood and the flood warnings that are in the factor across the region, including Washington, D.C., and parts of Northern Virginia while expire between ten 45 and here in the next 5 minutes or so through about one 15 a.m. in the nation's capital. And Luke, The Rain has ended across the nation's capital some light to moderate rain to the west and that includes Hagerstown, martinsburg, Charles town, and also Leesburg, as that rain moves towards the east, it will continue to diminish in intensity. It will not contribute to any new flooding across the region. Fortunately, The Rain rates are pretty low as it is, but that rain. Heavier rain north of the mason Dixon line will stay to the north it will not impact Washington. There's some very heavy rain, Charlottesville towards lovingston that is heading towards Richmond that could contribute to some flash flooding here during the early part of the overnight hours, but that will not move north into Washington. So the flood warnings that are in effect from the earlier rain will be allowed to expire between ten 45 this evening and 1 a.m. tomorrow in the flood watch will be allowed to expire I think by 11 o'clock from the national weather service temperature steady in the 70s overnight as the showers end from northwest to southeast.
