"Is it though I want to be Strong well for some of the reasons you just lay down, one of them being that Tom Brady's and another Super Bowl, he's back, buddy. How do you ever left? Can't buy with your heart. Gotta bet with your head bookish. No, I bet I thought about it with my head. I thought In fact, the odd thing about that game yesterday is a lot of the things that I thought would happen That would let the Packers win happened and they still didn't win. He threw three picks on three consecutive possessions, and they somehow didn't score enough points off that to win that game. Amazing because Aaron Rodgers can't do it. I met and we'll get that later. I wanna be clear. It's really hard. I mean, it's really the standard at which we judge all time. Greatness is ridiculously insane. I mean, you have to be the 1% of 1% of 1% of 1% just toe play in the league, right? Just to be some guy that everyone says sucks. Just be mean. Chad Henning is so massively talented at what he does for a living. And he's not important in the scheme, so I understand, but you know that's the standard. That's that's your Aaron Rodgers. The guy has not had the kind of success in those games he needs to Relative to his talent. Right. I mean, and it's clearly not all of his faults, but him and he was completely involved in them losing last night, there's did. He did not play a perfect game and get and got, you know, let down by the rest of the other 52 guys. He didn't play well enough by himself. With all the other problems mixed, and that's why they lost. I'll say this in Brady's defense, um The last interception. The one that went off Evans Fingers was not a great throw, but could have been caught. But the play before that cause people know about Aaron Rodgers Guys had drops. The job's Rogers were early in the game for the Packers. Mike Evans the play before that third pick dropped the ball That would have been for our deep, long, huge first down basically a sealed What? It basically sealed the game, got them in field goal range. I want to run the football for that was a beast when they got into the red zone. The first interception on third down, they just got they got right at. They got right it, Brady. The running back. Couldn't couldn't pick up the guy that was blitzing. So it was. I think an intentional I'm gonna throw the ball up again to Evans. And it was intercepted. It was basically upon now The middle interception was awful. It was second down. He got pressure again. But my point is Yeah, There were three interceptors. Absolutely. I think there's some situational realities there that you have to look at. I understand how they happened. I don't understand what Aaron Rodgers was doing the end of the first half. I mean that lead directly to a seven point differential like you have to not just be great. You have to be effective in the moments in the margins that matter, the most. Yeah, they should. They should just touched down before their field in the second quarter. I don't know why they were going so slow in that two minute drill and then which might have been, which might have been pass interference. Sure, there's that as well. And then the miscue on defense. Let Scotty Miller scored when it was just a disaster, like a three minutes for them. I gotta tell you It's really fun watching these games when you have money on them, and it goes well, My my, my body read asked me why I was getting all might these pics in the NFL and I'm like I have 1 17 my last 19 NBA bets on CBS Sports HQ. So I'm on. I'm on fire and I go. I have a theory. It's super here again, and I wrote it to him. He's like, Oh, I buy that and I wrote back. No bribe. Just get lucky. Just Thanksgiving thing e don't have a beautiful mind. I'm just get lucky, but I'll take it bogus. I will take it. Um I know you're not a Brady fan. But you did predict the 40 touchdown season Exact. Like you and Brady were simpatico. You guys were in a zone together. Yeah, it xylitol. It's like 50 50. Right now I am going to be completely impressed by the fact that he won again. He's in another Super Bowl for the next whatever it is 13 days, but like yesterday when the game starts Will not want him to win like I was almost a full on Packer fan yesterday for four quarters. Feeling like an actual one is that it was crumbling s O like right now I'll say nothing but good things that makes completely no sense that this guy 43 is doing this. However, kickoff is on starting from two Sundays from now I am all in on the home every need to make sure that he doesn't win again, Andrew Bogus I can see you on Skype and I can say that you look so miserable. That the bucks one that I'm a little worried that you literally bet the mortgage and tomorrow you'll be Skyping finale. No, no, no, We're good. We're good on that front, but I mean, it was not a good weekend in general, but it was not a a financially crippling one. Let's just I just I don't like Brady. I just recognized the guys They don't like you're gonna be amazing and what they do for a living. That's just I'm just I'm in all of him. I really I'm in I'm just in awe of.

"Get to the Super Bowl win the Super Bowl because when you're talking about the top quarterbacks top 10 quarterbacks of all time mean most of them are going to have to Super Bowls to their name when you're listening him out, and he should be in those rankings if he gets to the game, and if he wants it, Okay, So you got the Packers in this one by 123, Okay? With you with the Packers, But here's my different take on that. It's really hard to bet against Tom Brady and a championship situation, especially the kind of weapons that he has that running game. That offensive line has been terrific. Mike Evans on the outside Tom Brady understands exactly his legacy. It's said he's only going to add to it. It's not going to diminish. And Rogers on the other side. He has that look. That running game has that look As important about more important that defense has that look, they have soon they could get out to the quarterback and not just stop the running game. They're relishing and opportunity to right that wrong. That happened in the regular season when they got the full beaten out in 38 to 10, and it wasn't even that close with Tammi. Maybe for the first time these two got together. That and that motivates getting to a championship is going to be more than enough. The pack is going to win this game. I think they win this game by seven. I think this game comes down to the final six or seven minutes before that Running game of that defense will be the order today and the Packers go on the Super Bowl 55. She's going to grow in a Infineon Fitzsimmons on Freddie Coleman or Freddie and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio. The ESPN happens except China, 80. So we talk about the NFC championship game. We both like the Packers. What about bills that cheese all the story? The chief's glory was Patrick Mahomes in concussion protocol. Magic. Mahomes. Are you feeling? Yeah, I actually just got out of the protocol. The weekend has been ah, bunch of testing a bunch of different things to make sure that that I'm I'm good to go, and there's no lingering affection. Anything like that. But everything's been good enough. I went through it all the 34 different. Doctors have said Everything looked well and I'm out of there. Now, as if he was not going to play Sunday for the Kansas City Chiefs. We all knew that he was going to be there. So sorry. McDermott bills that coach I know you have a game plan for Chad Henning, You don't put that in place. Not a casual horses playing. How do you beat the star studded chiefs? We gotta be us got the US and there's certainly Very, very good football team that beat us already once this year and Defending defending world champs and they've been this position the last three years in the NFC championship game, so But we're going to continue to have a good week of preparation and The bit of Buffalo bills. The first time they met Can city won this game 26 to 17, and they did it unconventionally by running the football. They had 245 yards rushing, averaging over five yards per carry Patty Mahomes holding 225 yards and two touchdowns and that win That was then This is now corny bills. Three point underdog Kansas City getting Pat Mahomes back. Who do you like the wine? I like the bills in this. 31 28 over the Kansas City Chiefs. What did Sean McDermott just say? There were gonna be who We are our identity. Well, what is their identity? Drop back to pass 73% of the time this postseason on Lee. One team has ever reached a conference title game passing more in that that was the 2015 Patriots. So When we talk about other neither on the ball more. They need to do not what they did when they scored 10 points against the Ravens. I don't expect that I expect them to be who they are and be exactly what they showed last week..

"We're on Twitter, D a on CBS, and I'll read to those coming up an hour and a half from now this hour. We are stunned to a news and coming up in 40 minutes. Dan Campbell has a very lively press conference, introduced himself as the dude. In Detroit. NFC A F C championship games. Obviously on Sunday. This is the breakdown to be very simple. In the A F. C. Holmes plays Chiefs win. Mahomes doesn't Playbills Win This is no disrespect to the Buffalo Bills who have had an absolutely amazing year. And let's face it. The best part about this bill's run. If you're a bills fan Is that they're not going anywhere. They come back next year with the most, if not all of the same important pieces. And they only are now going to be better served having gone through this year. Because I think we saw the growth within the season is well, people might look at 2020 and say, Well, that was the year the bills burst through, but the bills had to grow within the season. Let's go back to their first match up against the Patriots middle of the season. This one is that Orchard Park. The idea is well. The Patriots are scuffling. They're not very good. This is supposed to be the bills year. The bills are winning games there wouldn't give kind of closely, but they're winning games. They're a better team, and they're at home. And if they're ever gonna get the pages, they better get him now. And remember that comes down to the final minutes of the game. Cam Newton is driving the Patriots for a game tying field goal there within field goal range. You're thinking Oh, my goodness, The bills are gonna gag this away against Ah, pretty bad, at least mediocre Patriots team. That's when Cam Newton fumbles recovered by the bills, and they escape. By the end of the season. When the bills play the Patriots again it is so evident how much better buffalo is and the bills just light him up. I mean, just blow him out. It is not a fair fight, and I've heard people say that was Been fun to see the bills blow out the Patriot twice this year. They didn't blow mount the first game. It is felt like that because they blew him out in the second game. That's what everybody remembers, and the bills of it's so much better this year. In the war begun pats, But that was not the key from the first Met. That was a growth and I think Last year. Let's go back to the playoffs. When the Bills were in Houston, they built a 16 Nothing lead, and Josh Alan starts giving it away and the defense starts giving it away and little by little, the bills just melting down. This year. The cold started coming back in that game, but The bill's closed the door. The bills made the plays, so even then it was starting to find themselves and last week look, they got somewhat fortunate some good brakes because the Ravens shot themselves in the foot missed field goals. And the pick six and the goal line the snap over the head Lamar Jackson. When Lamar gets injured, That's obviously big advantage for the For the Bills is back up, Mrs two great throws that could have been touchdowns. But the bills also have to make place. They've got to make plays to win and the pick six of the best example of that. You're back inside your own end zone. It could be a 10 10 game, and it said, you take it to the house. Now it's a 14 point advantage off, which you would never let go off. Bills. They're figuring it out as they go. There's growth within these games. There's growth within this postseason. There's growth with them this season. I just think the Chiefs Present a problem that the bills simply can't counter. And really few, if any teams can That is The Chiefs don't have to play a perfect game. They could still beat you. You could have a pun blocked. You can throw a bad interception. You can fumble the ball inside your own red zone. You could have a blown coverage. You could make a mistake. On a third down, you could blow a time out. And because of Patrick Mahomes. And because of the weapons around him and his ease with which he uses them. The chief found themselves down by 24 points last year. The divisional round And beat the Texans handily. Chief found themselves down by 10 against the huge against the Tennessee Titans. Beat them handling in the title game. Chief found themselves down by 10 in Was it the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl? Ended up winning by two scores. That's so quick. This turns on a dime. And I think that the bills just not there yet. And really, nobody quite is now if the homes doesn't play, I think the bills win this game. I don't think the chief can hold off the bills with Chad Henning. In the NFC championship game. The Packers were a better team. They are a better team talked about a better team doesn't always win. But Rogers present a lot of the same problems for the Buccaneers that Patrick Holmes does for the Bills of Mahomes plays. That is right now a mastery of his offensive mastery of his team, and both the Chiefs and Packers have only played a one playoff game. Or, as the bills in the Buccaneers have played to the Buccaneers have been on the road for now, three consecutive weeks. That's a lot The bill's got to play their games at home. The Buccaneers did not For the Packers there more well rested. They understand their own home. Snow conditions, field conditions better. They've a mastery right now a quarterback of the offense who is just Completing everything that he wants to. Whereas Brady kind of struggled last week, let's face it. He was handed some short field. They took advantage of it. But the Buccaneers best offense, last seat last week against the Saints was running the football. Packers were a better team top to bottom. They have the home field advantage of the rest. They have the conditions on their side if it snows Would never assume Brady.

"Decades here, 17. So now the show is officially Complete big question, Aaron Rodgers said. No pressure on him this weekend. The fellas disagreed, said there really is when you kind of look at it from one vantage point we want to know from you who's got the most pressure on in this weekend in the NFL could be one of the four quarterbacks. Could be anybody could be a coordinator could be a position group. Whatever ated H say, ESPN 887293776. I mean, is there any pressure on Chad? Henny of things just don't go Well for Patrick Mahomes the rest of the week. I mean, it's up to you, aged 80, ESPN 88729377 say pressure on shot him and promised I promise you, I give you my right on. They'll put their rope Patrick homes out there in a wheelchair for the mess around With Chad Henning starting the game. He did pick up 13.5 yards on a 13 14 schools. So that's one game move into everything is cool. That was one play. I'm not messing around with the damn Chad. You know that when you know what happens when he calls something cute. You know what That means. He loses a better. That's another story for another day, but any way you could say anybody you want to. We just want to hear from you. But before we get to the phone lines Thomas has already lined up gave in college Park will get to you fellas. In just a moment. We've kind of established there is pressure on a rod. He's saying there isn't what about the guy he's going to face. Sunday pressure on Tom Brady. Obviously the circumstances are a little bit different than in New England. They're back in the championship round 14th Conference championship game for Brady and 21 years mind boggling stat. But is there pressure on him? Considering he's been there done that, But this is a different circumstance, looking to play Super Bowl 55 in his home stadium. I don't think there's pressure on him at all. The pressure on Tom Brady. Waited. I saw it. The beginning of the season is Get them to the playoffs, something the Bucks hadn't been forever right, right? And and so he got them to the playoffs. They didn't win a division he parlayed into a second round NFC championship appearance now I don't I don't think that there's a pressure. I mean, you know he did more than what they were able to do in the past. So why is there pressure Because He's so used to going to the Super Bowl. Well, this is a different team, different circumstances, different situation, you know? Yeah. They want to play it in their home stadium. I'm sure to be cool to be fun. Don't have to travel have to do anything, of course, but there's no no, not at all. Pressure busts, pipes and you know whose pipe is gonna bust if Tom Brady wins the Super Bowl in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he gets a chance to do it in Tampa Bay. Gonna bust the piper. Bill. Bill, check weird on the Cincinnati We're gonna be saying we're gonna be sitting here talking about. Well, you know, Bill Bill check. He just can't win without Tom Brady. But Tom Brady can win without Bill Bill check. I know it's not right Key. I know it's not right. But you and I both know what the headlines will be. Probably if this pops off this way. Absolutely. We know that that people want the sexiness the conversation of Monday morning quarterback I get it, But that ain't I mean, okay, So Tom Brady went to a better team in Tampa Bay, which he should have, because that was nothing up in New England. They would know that nothing zero What will happen Bays. Worst receiver is better than new English Best receiver, So he did the right thing, but too Trying. You know, Start this conversation about Brady. Bela Chick needs Brady. The win. I think that's just that's not cool. I mean, it's not I don't want to say cool. I think it's just false. I think it's false. I think it's just something for people to say. It's not even the same type of teams of two different teams. But can't you have your plane? That was our advocate? Because I'm actually with you? OK, But can't you look at that? That the reason why the Patriots were in that position is because of Bill Belichick, right? I think it was because of both. They're in a position to win both. What I mean, who needs Tom Brady and Bill Belichick? Tom Brady had to do his damn job for them to win. Tom Brady after the second Super Bowl. That the first two I would Brady did enough to win whatever couple throws here here, but that first the second Super Bowl was the Teddy Bruschi's. The Ted Johnson's The Willie McGinnis is the Ty Law's lawyer, Milloy's of the world. They took care of that. On the defense side in Brady would hand the football off toe Antron Smiths in in Corey Dillon's, and he did enough now those other four Super Bowls. The most part was all Brady embellish it, So I don't Just find myself. Laughing when people say well, Tom Brady. Look where he's at a look with Bela Chick. It's a different team, man. We all know that that we all know that the damn Patriots and had no players. We all know that. Yeah. You should look at it from a couple of different perspectives as well. We're gonna get to the phone lines here I want to rip through. Thomas gave Todd and Tyler all patiently waiting to talk and give their name on who has the most pressure. We should mention his J. Said pressure burst pipes. It also creates diamonds, and you can imagine the stud diamond ring of the Patriots. Lose Tom Brady. They go to the Bucks pretty books in a buck's Super Bowl ring with 100 diamonds on and the last thing I would say here, Qi also first year quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger's for Super Bowl, also based on the defense in the running game Juror, So Wilson's It's all the time for that first Super. There's nothing wrong with that, but this unless from homes like Jay said. They're going to try to Drum it up in making sensationalize it into all of those things. They got it ready to go. You know how you guys sit and do it overnight and just ready for seeing you guys. Where's that, right? They already got the story written. They're just gonna take a paragraph out here. They're moving depending on what happens. Indeed, Herm said. Don't press send, but we do press Send Thomas in Memphis. You're on ESPN radio who's got the most pressure on him this weekend in the NFL's championship round. What up T. I believe in sin Tonia Brown because he can get back in the Hall of Fame track. He was training towards first Ballot Hall of Fame before his career was the rail about self inflicted off the field, personal issues. You said when you were in that room and they start to petition for you to be in the Hall of Fame. So like you staying up and said Pittsburgh was great with sound waves and Oakland, New England for a game. It didn't look what he did to the Tom Brady to capable win number seven and then next year at the he can continue to get back to an all pro probable level. Thomas well Yeah, but I think first of all a big has to get healthy. I think he's been limited in practice, and he's probably gonna be limited in the game because I got a little knee contusion or something going on with him. Yeah. Baby was headed on the trajectory of Hall of Fame as he continued to put up numbers and do some things and one thing missing from his resume is a Super Bowl. Win. Um You know, he probably won't be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Even if he continues to put up big numbers just because that's just what they do. I mean, the guy's had voted those rules the moment that you give them any reason to feel like you're problem. They're gonna push you down. I mean, that's just what it is. Hey, last one, Tim in Indiana. You're on ESPN radio. This one surprises me a little bit. Go ahead. Hey, guys. It's gotta be just Alan. Right now, when you think about nerves Met fact of it being a big game. No matter what sport your client any.

"Was a full participant. In the first practice for the Chiefs leading up to their A F C championship game tilt. Against the Buffalo Bills. Mahomes took all of the snaps and, according to Andy Reid, Had took. My home's quote feels good. Now he's still the homes in the concussion protocol, and at this point it is that publicly known where my home is in the five. Stepped protocol process You can't practice is still being concussion protocol. That is a thing. But the fact that my Holmes was a A full participants. Um, I think does fellas bowled well for his Ability to play on Sunday if the concussion AL concussion serious, But if the concussion was really serious The chance of him getting all the snaps in this practice and not Chad Henny the chances of re pretty remote, so I'd say that this is a definite positive. Development. He's on track to play Sunday in Maya's Let's let to make him a heavy favorite to play. Looks like he's playing Manny's plan. Let's do that. Circle it make him a heavy favorite and circle it use a Sharpie. Yeah, he's uh, you're gonna play where you gonna put Let's see a relapses, which I guess could happen with the With concussions and head traumas and stuff like that, But, yeah, I just can't imagine him that That playing on especially now that he's out there. So, Yeah, I'll fully expecting that. Look, that's what we all want. That's what they want. You want to see the best. Go against the best and be as healthy as possible. Yeah, well, due respect to tend him in this family has followers. No one wants to see Chad Henning on that field. Follow. No one wants to see that story. No one wants that. We want the bills. Alan, we want the Chiefs. Mahomes. That's what we want. But I'll tell you what, though, and you're right. I mean, it's the chance of him not playing. We're going to say remote, but I think they're little bit more than remote, but they weren't They weren't good. It was more than 50% chance He was gonna play, however. The dude we saw struggling to get to his feet and had that I just got knocked out. Look in my eyes. This past Sunday. I mean, that was we've we've seen concussions where guys taking a hit and Has popped right back up where you just go. I can't believe they got did that and either stay in the game when they come back and play the next week. Patrick Mahomes. I mean, it was It was a forceful tackle. But you didn't see any obvious head trauma and that dude was out cold. Before he his entire body hit the ground and in to see him struggle to try and get up in there holding him up and he's you know his izer. Are wide and glassy that visual When combat compared to the news we've gotten today. I mean, that's a pretty big jump because that was all. I mean, you know he's run. He did Sprint from the sideline. Get that we've seen guys run before. Come on, man. You saw that pretty good there he looked like a newborn deer. When he couldn't stand up. He definitely didn't look good because he didn't run to the locker room after that, I don't know. I mean, I just fully expected him to go because He's Patrick Mahomes and you know, but you know, I'm sure they have some level that he has to prove capable. And that's why you have read in the postgame already kind of addressing that immediately, like Patrick's already, you know, they were already kind of fast forwarding your head to hit the protocols and how he was gonna hit each thing. But I'm glad that he's out there playing because let's be honest guys. It's a lot more interesting football game If you put Alan and Mahomes than Alan Verse, Henny Mm hmm. He's their whole team. I mean, I wouldn't want this story Kansas City but my old limits stepped out on. I can't believe it was able to withstand the overwhelming weight of your past statement. Do this Caddy Shack..

"Ahead. Goodyear. More driven. Okay, Jeff. Good morning. We're not exactly sure What's going on Patrick Mahomes at this point s O tell me how a team is a guy who spent so many years standing directly in front of a quarterback protecting one of the greatest of all time. How does the offense prepare for him to play? And prepare for him to not play. Yeah, I think it made a great point, like here's the situation, So that offensive line perspective and receiver perspective. You obviously know Patrick Mahomes, Right? You've been huddles with him throughout the season. You understand it. The issue is they had a couple weeks Really where they were all right Week. 17 don't do anything that they have the bye week for the playoffs and they come back and he plays you know, basically three quarters or just short of three quarters, so There has been a little break up in the continuity off what it really looks like. So as as guys get to prepare this weekend's Can he be involved in the meetings? When you're talking about concussion protocol? I mean, sometimes they limit screen time. So even if you want to be virtual, you can't watch film the same way. You can't be involved in meetings the same way, you know, so there's some things and some elements that definitely bring question. And then when you go with Chad Henning Obviously he played really well for a quarter or a quarter in some snaps, but a team's never prepared for him. He writes so well with Leslie Frazier, defensive coordinator. The Buffalo Bills, you know, looking and scripting specifically four. Henny. Hey, how do we make him uncomfortable? One of the things that you do that takes him out of his game plan. Listen, Mahomes makes a ton of plays off schedule, and we have all seen it whether it's him dropping back an extra five or six yards. Rolling out thrown across his body, all those kinds of things. That means that's off schedule. Chad Henny is not gonna be that guy and listen. He made some fantastic plays. He deserves all the attention. He got post game He earned every throw right? I was super impressed with him, but it's different when they're teen it up for four quarters against you. So from the homes that chief perspective It's uncertain I would feel more comfortable, you know, obviously from from Leslie Frazier type deal of knowing who my guy is, but both teams were having to set up two game plans right now. Jeff from I go out on a limb and just say I think Patrick Mahomes will be underneath the center on Sunday. And if that is the case, what challenges do the Beals present for that offense? I'm just saying, Man, you know No, I'm with you. Listen, listen, You know it was funny. I had a conversation with a guy yesterday about it. I was like man to hold him back. There's gonna be some significant like I know that we have protocols and all the things that we say we have. You're talking about championship game. You know, I'm not sure he's gonna be given all the information about symptoms. Right? So I'm with you. As far as that stuff goes, I would say the other concern for me Key is the toe right? Because you and I both know man. Listen, one of my toe but my left it. There was one of the reasons I decided to stop playing. I mean, the pain that you know, it sounds silly, but man, it is extremely painful. So what does that mean for my Holmes's He can't really protect himself nearly as well as you are when you're completely healthy, So I'm 100% with you on that. I think Leslie Frazier showed you last week against the Ravens. He forced. He forced Lamar to try to beat him from the pocket right in the game went back and forth, but there was no panic in that bills. Defense honest, you know, they make the interception for the pick six, which is a huge play. I have a feeling that's how they're going to play. My home's right is Don't let those off schedule place kind of how they played him in week. Six. Make them beat you with run game and whether you know Edwards a layer is back and playing at full strength. Whether it's bell. Whether it's Williams, you name it is going to be kind of a plethora of backs. But understanding we can take that and at least allow our offices score enough points because if it becomes a track meet, all goes in favor of the Chiefs in a big way. Jeff, you played in Green Bay eight short stint there, but you also played in cold weather coming outside of the dome in the playoffs, and I've always been a person that says when the dome team or warm weather team travels to the cold That changes the whole complexity of the game. The game plan everything you could think of what challenges Is this going to present? Not for Tom Brady, but the rest of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yeah, I think I think the point that you just said is the most influential right is it's not gonna be for Tom Brady. Um, it's got played 20 years, basically in New England with all the elements all the wind all the issues, so he understands right. What this thing is going to take. I think I think it affects those guys. Much more right. Antonio Brown, who hopefully can play He's played in Pittsburgh, right? I think Mike Evans That's a tough minded son of a gun. Right? So I don't think the weather is really going to affect him either. So when I would agree with you in normal situations, but the way that Tom Brady has played his entire career and the type of influence he's bringing that locker room, I'm gonna tell you I think this is this is a split even man. And I would normally agree with you right. And then you've experienced going from From real warm weather is going up to the cold, and here's the thing Green Bay uses Lambo and I have been there as their advantage. And they should, right. I mean, whether definitely is impactful, but for whatever reason this week, I just don't think it's gonna be that that influential because they got you have behind center in Tampa Bay. Makes sense, because as Josh if you don't have to wear the Carolina Blue tie, man, Come on, man. You don't do that. Oh, you come on, man. I could send you one man. You won't want to complete that. I'm good. I'm good. Me. I'm you know, I don't have that dark, ugly thing. I got this thing nice and pretty for you. You know what I mean? Jeff. I see you the way it's going for Duke. You given that Ty jaimie choke himself with it the way it's been going for the booth. No more violence. Jeff thank you very much for joining us this morning. Do. I love you fellas have a great way. "Honey on 3rd and 14. Became also close to ending the game and then we'll have the run and will be 13.5 yards and then on fourth of one, something unheard of happened. Then you have the chat, handing to Tyree Kill first down. NFL network's call me Hire me. Let's go, Kevin Stefanski. He says the Browns beat themselves on Sunday with three drives. Three points a bunch of drops penalties, bad play calls. All of it just wasn't wasn't good enough. You can't Come in here and ultimately, score 17 points and get a woman versus this team. And that first half I don't I don't think that was a clean operation like way. Asked for At the end of the day, you had chances to win that game, two of them. I don't want to hear what the Higgins thing. It's a terrible rule. We all know that. And I know there was a miss call in that. But in the second half and the fourth quarter with my home's not there You had a honey pick couldn't turn it into points to an opportunity. Go. Get yourself believe, and then also, you can't stop Chad Henning on a third and long Set up that fourth down. That's where they lost the game. Those two sequences Let's go to New Orleans, Tampa Bay going to up against the Saints this year, but the third time was the charm turnovers with the key in this game, the Saints had three interceptions, and they also had a Jared Cook fumble. Devon White picked off Drew Brees and returned it to the Saints territory. Which eventually did put up the Saints tow the Buccaneers 23 to 20 in the fourth quarter. Let's listen to Gene Decker off Buccaneers defense. Four band front.

"A collapsed lung. Gotta respect the competitiveness of Drew Brees because you know he wanted that second ring any side in all time, Great career and last 34 years. They just had some bad luck. It's a bad turn over some bad officiating. Wanted. What the excuse Saints fans are gonna make this time around. Because any controversial calls that came for they're gonna petition and file lawsuits. But all kidding aside, you breeze one of the class accent. One of the great names in the great people in the National Football League. All right, next up, Tom Brady. You know, he played a lot of Cold games now. Tampa Bay by those guys in the roster have not played Cold games. But Tom Brady said he's ready for the Cold elements and Lambeau Field this upcoming Sunday. Yeah, it's chilly man. It's that's That's January football and Northeast Midwest and we'll be prepared. You know, the team that plays the best Gonna win, not the team, then is the coldest or, you know we're going to go out there and play well and could be challenged and it's gonna be breaking. That game. It's gonna come down to offensive line, play much quarterback calls up the football to the other team. And it's tough to see right now. Anyone slowing down Rogers And Brady. His greatest. He is the 14 Conference championship games in 19 seasons as a starter. He did not look immortal yesterday. I had some bad throws, but he protected the football and didn't get picked off. Now the offense is gonna have to be better at Lambeau. If they're gonna want win this game, and they're going up against the Saints of the better defense of the package for the practice defense. It's not bad. They made some improvements this year. So that game. I really think it comes down to which quarterback you get pressure on and Rogers. They got pressure on him twice, and he threw two picks last time. So Bucks beat them back and week six and Green Bay was spotted 10. Nothing lead. I think that's gonna be a close game. Just look at Green Bay, and they look like a team that's destined to get to the Super Bowl. Right now. Banker made from the brownies. They're going home at the end of the first half. Browns were driving. Rashard Higgins caught a football was running reached out for the end zone ball fumbled out of the back of the end zone, Baker Mayfield said. That was not the reason I lost the game, though. All this hell it's gonna be a big play. But there's You know, that's the easy finger purporting answered. But there's so many other places we could have done always said that the Cardinals and threw across my body in the middle of the field on the first drive. Come out second half just No, we We hurt ourselves in the first half, and they capitalized and that's what the good teams do. So they were better than us. Yeah, I hate that rule. We talked about that earlier. It's not the reason why the Browns lost the end. The reason the Browns lost the game coming off that Henny interception. They pump to the football when it's 20 to 17 you go drive down the field, take the lead. And then you allowed honey, get 13 yards on 3rd and 14. And then you couldn't stop him on fourth and one really that third down yet It's a great decision to go for it on fourth. Everyone's jaw just drops and hits the floor. And it was unbelievable. But the fact that even got to that point Those 13 yards. I know people look at the fourth and one play because that was the game winning play. But those 13 yards allowed that Plato happen. So the Browns defense that's gonna haunt them for a while. And then for Baker, who's had a really good year. This year, you got to put the ball in the end zone After that, any interception Travis Kelsey. You know this team lost his quarterback. Expected, though to return this weekend for the NFC title game is chief will be in three consecutive NFC title games. Travis Kelsey said Nothing changed once Chad Henny came into the game. Nothing changed, man. Nothing changed. Chad came in and uplifted us. We uplifted him, and we just rally together, man, and that's what this team did offensively. Defensively, Special teams we just got we circled the wagon and got a little bit tighter as a group and then found a way to win against a good football team. Nothing change come off. It's just the human emotion when you have a great player like Patrick Holmes go down, and especially when he stood back up. And he was totally out of it. It was scary. That affects you. It's amazing how in those spots all athletes, especially the NFL, able to just store that the back of their brain and then sometimes it takes teams a little bit longer to adapt. The chief's adapted right away, so he is right. That they were able to adapt quickly, But yeah, a lot changes When you lose Patrick Mahomes for Chad Henny of Chad Henning doesn't rush for 13 yards of that plane, then convert that fourth and one who knows? Maybe the Browns get the football back. They go in the game, and we're talking about a different outcome today on this day after divisional round weekend Monday on the Sack Guild show on CBS Sports Radio, Finally we go from football hockey. Jacob for a check of the Flyers got into with the media member and.

"Live. You heard him. You heard it. Pop it inside Arrowhead. They was on that Henny and Katie MOAs. The Chiefs win 20 to 17 going another NFC championship game. Those Jeff Darlington talking with Travis Kelsey afterwards, Kirk, let me start with you. First and foremost. How did Andy Reid have the guts to call that fourth? And short pass play with under two minutes to go, and if they don't convert Baker Mayfield has less than half the field to try and go win the football game. I guess when you have Tyree kill doesn't matter whose quarterback and that's an easy completion. Because he got job security. That's why let's just keep it real because he got a contract extension. Let's be real and he read and Andy Reid doesn't make that call last year before he won a Super Bowl. Let's be real. We would have ridiculed him for that, like, Come on Andy Reid going for I don't think he had the onions to make that call last year now this year totally different. He's got a Super Bowl under, but we have said Andy Reid was a bad coach. If they didn't convert there, we would have understood because he's a Super Bowl winning coach. He understand at that moment. Hey, what he's thinking. But for how many people can raise their hand right now and say. Wow. I didn't even know Chad Henny was still in the NFL until he actually went in for Patrick Mahoney. Like Wow, chat him. He's still in the NFL, and you put a crucial play in the hands of a veteran quarterback of former starter in the NFL. I think it just goes to show you what Andy Reid Where he's at coaching wise, like one of the best coaches, I think in NFL history, he does have the ring. But I think moving forward you have to understand that He is a God is going to regardless my homes in or not the culture that he has built in Kansas City. They feel like whoever's back there. They can win, especially those critical moments. Right, Monica. I want to get your thoughts on the quarterback situation in Kansas City as they get ready for Buffalo in the A F. C championship game here is head coach Andy Reid after the victory on how his star QB Patrick Holmes is doing. Chad Hennings run was here. Which on that is obviously is couple throws there through the end. We're all so big. I take full responsibility for the long interception. That one That was my That's my that's on me, and I'm just I'm proud of Chad and the way he handled everything. And you know, he probably said it best when he said, Listen, You know this team is unbelievable when somebody has to come in and make him feel comfortable. And you know, that's what teams all about so again. I'm just I'm proud of the way he handled things. Our 1000 read more talking about Chad Hennings performance in relief of Patrick Mahomes. But If the Chiefs are not able to turn to my home's next week, Monica what type of chance do you give them against Josh Allen? The bills they will be at home. Since they have that number one overall seed, they'll get the host. In the A F C championship game. But as we know concussions are serious business in the NFL Me no more homes had to leave this game due to concussion protocol. If he's not able to go, the chief's stand a chance. It's really hard for me to even seriously fathom the if because I feel like there's no way the face of league is not out to fish Sunday, but just in case if the other part of that is giving me Heart palpitations and flashbacks to backup quarterbacks of guy named Hi, Nikki. Representing my team had it was great in Oh my God, I said it. I said, I wasn't going to say it. Anything is so lazy. I'll come on that stuff's.

"Chad hennings joins us on sports byline the former defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys who played nine seasons in the NFL, all of those with and he won three superbowls to while Jimmy. Johnson was the coach and won with Barry Switzer and he was an eleventh round pick out of the air force. Academy where he was an all American and he was drafted in eighty eight but he didn't play until ninety two because of his military obligation and when he did play in the NFL, he was twenty-seven-year-old nfl. I've often wondered Chad whether being twenty-seven was a detriment or an advantage when you finally did get into pro football from my perspective it was a complete advantage I was more mature physically and emotionally spiritually I had flown jets in a combat zone. You know I had led men into combat as a flight lead. So when I got to the NFL, I kinda figured you know, what can they do to me here? You know the one thing that I find interesting having you having been an officer in having flown military aircraft in a combat environment and then you go into pro football, which is just a pure athletic environment where there are some conflicts there were there's some adjustments that you had to make Ted. You know the adjustments that had to make were as you know, mostly from a physical standpoint that's just being able to get used to taking the blows again, delivering blows getting used to the climate the different type of cardio exercise and and you know basically it's like learning to ride a bike again, learning to play football again. But from a mental aspect you know a lot of the lessons and a lot of the things that I had utilized when my mental preparation to fly missions. Crossover to prep either for practice or for a game in the NFL another Dallas Cowboy who made that same transition the same way Roger Staubach did you have any conversations with him about what you were going to be facing Rogers a great mentor. You know when I first got into Dallas he you know he made an effort to introduce himself and and of course, I'm like a little kid in a candy store in awe that you know the Great Roger Staubach would take. The time out to talk with me and but you know over the years he's been a great friend and a great mentor and someone that you know I would have no hesitation to to go to him and ask questions You know just about life 'cause he's he's been there done that and he's he's about twenty years ahead of me and in my journey and our journeys were, as you noted where we're very similar what's the best piece of advice that gave you? Well just remember who you are that in the aspect of you know just. Remember who you are remember your training like from the that you did at the academy and or you know an on active duty and you know enjoy the time here and You know it helped me kind of from a mental perspective relax and just go out and enjoy it and not not stress about. You know the what if? You know the thing I find fascinating is that when you think about the Air Force Academy, any of the academies and then being in a combat situation flying a combat aircraft, the disciplined the focus that you must have, and then you think of the environment of professional sports, professional football. It's Kinda like a boys club and everything Did that ever bother you to any degree because it's so different where you were used if you were told to do something, it's yes sir and you went out and did what you had to do on your mission. You. Know in all honesty my first for years with the cowboys. was very similar being the locker room versus being in a fighter squadron. There's a lot of. The commodity the you know the revelry jousting back and forth between you know as pie and or as a player. The truly everybody on those teams in the nineties were extremely focused very little animosity, very little jealousy between players. We're all focused on winning games and winning super bowls and I have never subsequently my ladder. Time with the cowboys it changed it that that commodity in the locker room eroded. But for those first few years, it was very focused and and the similarities between the two environments where we're very similar. Sad when I think about the national football league and having watched it, I grew up in Washington DC. So I knew the Russian Washington redskins against the Philadelphia Eagles against the giants against the cowboys particularly that Thanksgiving Day type of game those rivalries in the NFC East how intense were they, and what were those special ones that you look forward to? The NFC particularly back in that air, they were the dominant. Conference or division in the NFL where it was either the cowboys the Redskins you know are the Eagles and the later ninety either competing for. That those super bowl championships, conference championships, but I enjoyed the revelry of Playing, the Redskins, playing the giants, playing the cardinals but the one that I think that got us all excited the most was. Going to Philadelphia and playing the eagles this. Fan Base, they're very rabid fans very emotional fans, and you almost got the safety brief before you walk in and out of the locker room to make sure you don't get accosted by somebody throwing up frozen snowball or battery or you know whatever it might be at you. So you know was one of those things you gotta wear your helmet in and out but you know that would be the rivalry I think that got us. Inside at any time that we had to play Philly I mentioned about the three super bowl championships you had to Jimmy Johnson one under Barry Switzer tell me about the catalyst in each of those championship seasons. The callous in regards to what was the key thing for the team in each of those seasons. It you know the cowboys been three years prior to that. One in fifteen if I was able to come out as a rookie in the NFL, my first season would have been one in fifteen and that into go from that when Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones purchased the team to make that transition and turn around to be able to..

"Done anything to the level of what cam Newton did to a lesser extent it could be the case of Colin Kaepernick calling Cabernet's credentials are better than case Keenum's better than Joe Flacco's well maybe not Joe Flacco's because Flacco B. Capranica insuperable but you get my point they're just as good and this is part of the reason why the Denver Broncos didn't want Joe Flacco on the team anymore because if you have Joe Flacco on the sidelines then you could start to say well through our starts to struggle do we really get all of what we saw Joe Flacco I know it sounds a little bit silly but don't tell me there won't won't be people saying that so bringing calling Capper Nick there will be an actual question of who the best quarterback on the Denver Broncos would be and I don't know that the Broncos want that we know that Colin Kaepernick's not gonna sign with the Broncos for many other reasons and you'll hear one of the reasons a little bit later during what's driving the show because we're going to bring back that clip of John Elway talking about Colin Capra Nick in the chance that he allegedly had to sign with the Denver Broncos so I think you have to have entrance starter a proven starter has to fit from a styles this site is stylistic standpoint and I do think that you have to be a team that is pretty sure about winning Dan talking about the I want to say do you call it distraction the attention angle whatever the case may be you want to be in a good spot so Colin camper Nick income in N. B. and be a part of the meritocracy the meritocracy that's been the the the key phrase of the week thank you Vic Fangio if Colin camper Nick is signed before cam Newton that's not a football that's not a that's not a meritocracy on Y. S. you can make the case for Mrs style sample so really I came up with two teens maybe there's more you can let me know five two two nine eight seven two I look at Seattle and I look at Kansas city Seattle Seattle as Gino Smith backing up Russell Wilson don't tell me that Colin Kaepernick's on better than Gino Smith and the chiefs have Chad Henning you may think about more will they only brought in Matt Moore because Chad Haney got hurt Chad Henne is the backup in Kansas city probably would will be I said this last year Colin Kaepernick is a fit with the Kansas City Chiefs and this Seahawks and the chiefs are two teams that no one questions who the starter is they expect to win in twenty twenty good cultures on the team with Pete Carroll and Andy Reid respectively if someone is going to do this I feel like Seattle in Kansas city and Seattle already had interesting calling Capranica remember but Pete Carroll said Colin wanna be a starter and wouldn't sign on to be a backup that was a couple years ago maybe things have changed I look at Kansas city I look at Seattle and I say those are the perfect landing spot for him where you just want to be about white many people feel signing Colin Kaepernick would be about it be a little bit about that and let's be honest the NFL was wrong and what they did with Colin Kaepernick whether it was collusion blackballing or whether it's just a bunch of guys that were of the same mind and didn't communicate with each other they include they just all had the same idea that Colin Kaepernick was toxic that was wrong it could have gone a different way just like what Roger Goodell was saying the other day it should have gone a different way so I'm not opposed necessarily to Colin camper Nick being on an NFL roster but I just I'm surprised at the number of people that think that it's okay for him to just be signed because of the wrong that was done doing before I thought that some people may not want just that and that's why I'm putting their Seattle Kansas city he go to Jacksonville and be the starter jags could sign him he when that job just like cam Newton would I think the two bad spots former Seattle and Kansas city five two two nine eight seven two what are the fits for calling Campani came with Denver B. one we'll take a look at traffic weather and we'll be back to take your thoughts on that though we're.

"Chad Haney I mean it's it sounds great we're gonna expect more out of Mitch well you'll find out whether or not you're going to hold his feet to the fire based on who you bring that they need better not bring in Chad Henning I don't even know chat he was still in the league till I was going through the free agency I'm a standard set of my big board and I like chase Daniel I think we had a good conversation with him and he is the bears currently the bears player rap but are you really gonna hold your feet it makes his feet to the fire if if if chase Daniel or somebody else of that ilk is there I even the grand pace talk to someone talked about it yesterday where they said the case was basically you know a guy who could come in for a game but was more of like an assistant coach right so if you know if if colt McCoy is your number two I don't know how much you're really going to hold somebody hold Mitch countable now this is the way we're doing this draft it's like a fantasy football draft will snake its thorough we gotta do the lottery here for the first pack in any order they're printing serpentine yeah so like did the guy who's got the fourth pack one of the fifth pick as well and then vice versa and will double now than the other way when we pull out our number watch it is that our number or do we have choice of where we'd like to select now if you get the number that's you don't get a choice clarifying the rules and some draft you can do KD es style Kentucky during which is there's a lack some just see your picking your spot this is what I else anybody's available okay yes Hey buddy it could be body in the club it could be traffic it could be you sign somebody after the XFL season is over it could be retired player could be yes it could be anybody could be so you can go near and far and reach into anywhere you want to reach here's the other thing too the way we are drafting these are not our once we are just trying to predict correctly who Ryan pace will sign or trade for world draft this is not who we want so this isn't like a I want like number one like he like Tom Brady you know what I mean this is most likely we're drafting for most likely and as I was told this guy can't just be on your roster he has to be listed as one or two on the depth chart okay so if she if you select Jaylen hurts and easier QB three you don't when you don't win okay that's what I was told okay because I think an easy signing would be someone like Tyler Bray possibly and he beats quarterback emergency quarterback three but I'm was told earlier that it's got to be someone who finds himself at number two or number one on the depth chart and if there is any kind of controversy I think common sense as always should rule yeah like if you've got a guy that is listed is two and two way we know who the backup days okay more than likely what if it's Chad Haney and Jaylen hurts it's whoever I mean the challenge from the left is the back up even if they list we have to wait until the Carolina until game one to list so wait listed number two in who's not dressing I'm just saying I have seen in my life I've seen depth charts where if you see someone is to into way but okay I just want to get all of the rules out there is one follow the rules that's all I wanted to the Dow let's get the address in order to pay for their loans we're gonna draft sixteen quarterback and I'm down I'm shaking him down is there a chance no one wins tale of course yeah I mean I guess yeah there is a push so I mean we're all week sixteen quarterback hits your money back how bad are we addressed first pick will go to me yeah me I don't dial your one animate Y. out why why are you you're you just randomly how he's taken my hand one through number two is Selvi okay number three I want yes Jeff Miller yeah good A. N. last sitting in the hot corner here for five yeah he did all right I love that when guys get you know the high in in the I'm going to see your last draft okay well you don't care you get to one of the best five Jimmy Carter so all right here we go all right so so these are again quarterbacks that we deem could be available that the bears could sign to back up Matt Turner or like if they're starting that you win two course you know what I mean so if you pick cam Newton and he's the starter well let's throw name you got it in one or two right yeah right given stuff away okay so I have the number one pick and I would like to throw it out there if anybody would like to trade two or three picks to move up I'm accepting offer I would like to offer you next year's first round pick in this draft I hope we're not doing this next year I really hope it ideas okay you're still with the first pick in the Chicago Bears.

We're just not sure if our future but remember one thing they can never take away what you think and how you act and she said Dr Eager at that point in time learned about the power of the mind that we do have a choice and this was the lady who she as a classically trained Ballerina or she had to perform in front of Yosef Mandalay again the death for his dinner at times and and is he was sitting there realizing that this is a man that just basically murdered my parents because they were sent to the gas chambers soon as they got us fits but her sister. You know we're able to survive and having gone through that experience and to be able to come out and you know today at when she eighty seven eighty eight years old still council still has a psychiatry practice where she helps whether veterans with post traumatic stress or individuals. That are trying to you. Know figure out life you know and get past pains in their life and she's one of those individuals that You know I'm proud to call a friend and I just in awe every time that I hear her speak and address different audiences. We got ninety seconds left Chad but the one thing I think as I hear you you tell the stories about these people and I look at this list is is that they all adhere to one thing and that is hope positive thinking no matter what their experiences have. Then that's it and that's what I think separates them again there. You know. We have a tendency in our country that you know to play the blame game though. There's somebody he also it's. It's not my fault you know I guess we are pendulum. Our cultural pendulum is swung to one. where it's more of a narcissistic Mimi attitude? "I'm Ron Bar a little bit later on in the hour. We're GONNA be talking with Chad headings. If you're a football fan you know that name former defensive end for the Dallas cowboys choice. He played nine seasons in the NFL. All of those in Dallas uniform. Any one three super bowls and two of those super bowls were with Jimmy Johnson. And and one was with Barry. Switzer was an eleventh round. Pick out of the Air Force Academy where he was an all American. Any was drafted but didn't play until nineteen ninety two and he was twenty-seven-year-old. NFL Rookie in the reason for that was coming out of the Air Force Academy had to serve his time in the military and and he also was a pilot. Can you imagine a football player fitting into the cockpit of a plane. Wave was a pilot of an eight ten tankbuster. Now I am a pilot myself and so I'm very very familiar with that aircraft and to this day every time I talk to Chad I say to. You got to explain to me how you were ever able to fly that airplane Some people it was said it was always like flying a bus and in the final days of the Gulf War. He escorted planes. That dropped supplies to the Kurds. As part of Operation Provide Comfort while he is also also an athletic director himself now University of Nebraska in Omaha and he has written a book and it's a very interesting and fascinating book it's called forces of character conversations about building a life of impact and some of the interviews in this book is Troy Aikman also carry Casey. "The ESPN app, Sirius XM channel eighty a lot of old timer. Baseball names coming up in the last few days, especially surrounding the Toronto Blue Jays. Trevor we watched as Vlad Guerrero junior came up a couple of weeks ago. And that was kind of big news. And then Kevin video of Greg visuals, son. It's three hits. He's got a Homer, the rookie second baseman for the Blue Jays. And then there are a couple of others as well. Dante Bichette son, Bo. He was tenth pick by the Blue Jays. And then a Griffin co nine Griffin is serving a fifty day suspension, though. I is legal stimulants, but those are some just some of the names that are starting to come around, which means either those of us that know the other guys are super old or maybe guys are getting in the major soon. Not enough. A special thing to see this father, grandfather grandson, sort of these sort of cyclical appearance at this point. Yeah. Is really interesting. I just wonder the amount of pressure that is sort all built up throughout the entire track throughout the miners, as you make that step into the big show as everyone 'cause what's the amount of pressure that has all your sodas the moment you step into that batter's box for the first time and for Viagra junior and now ios well, like they've caught their stride. Thank goodness. They have you hope it continues to go along that route, but it's gotta just be an insurmountable amount of pressure. It's tough San Francisco to they called up the grandson of the legend Carl Yastrzemski and he made his debut in left field. Mike Yastrzemski and he had played seven hundred and three games in the minors. He paid his dues and went three for four with a run. In in in the giants game. I remember and my father did not play professional sports. They'll let me get yours. First, your first memory of your significant athletic accomplishment, probably football sets the. We ended up so we'll go one good one bad. I'll be briefing both. Right. So fair. I practice that I had a play football at Harvard for those who may not know much about me and played running back and very first practice no Pagis, helmets, shorts in jersey and we go out there. Get the call and ask them to run with the ones just for one play. You kinda get your spell going. And see if you can get a rhythm I carry is inside zone right up the gut running right at a couple of defensive tackles if somebody misses the blocking, you know, somebody may have missed an assignment but I'm not in the business of blame. It regardless. Foot two hundred ninety of London having to meet me right at the point of attack clothesline, and I realized that I was playing with grown men. It was not fun. And I cannot reiterate enough that I did not have pads on. Yeah. Reality set in real quick. But and in on the positive side though very first game that we had in the year was actually a scrimmage against Dartmouth up in New Hampshire. I score touchdown. And I'm amped as all get up. I don't know what to do with my own hands start celebrating pretty futilely ref comes over and tells me to act like I've been there before I tell them straight to his face. I've never been here before. So. Trevor, but it just kept getting better. Oh, of course, of course. But what you got for the start of your career. Okay. I didn't play such a high level as you did run track in college. And I wasn't very good. But I was lucky to run track at USC and Syracuse, but the first one, which isn't very good, but it showed right away my mom that she was probably in trouble on the kind of child. She was grooming to be a young woman as one of the first girls to play baseball in little league in Los Angeles. I never played I was on the bench. And of course we, they wouldn't bring me in unless maybe just maybe we're up by a lot. So I remember I was playing see them. I I second year in little league and we're up by, like it was really like thirty or thirty one to nothing. And I go up and I'm hitting and I'm going to play second base on must've been the ninth inning and or the eighth inning. And I hit a ball and I, there was a probably an error at second base, and then a bat, you know, throwing error to third base. And so I'm running from third to home, and I slide face first hands in front of me, and we got another run. And I think we want. Thirty two nothing. But pay now I broke my wrist. Oh my God. Why did you slide home? I had to score because all I knew a little girl is the most important thing was that plate like that was your goal when you were hitting was to get back to where you started to run around in that circle. And then hit that plane, I didn't know anything else. A little bit more gusto behind it because you had to prove you, you belong. There was a little bit of pride involved. You ain't nothing wrong with a little bit fry. Thank you. And then and then freshman year USC running track realizing that I was not going to be better than the best practice player has I was the best practice runner because I I it was amazing to me on that track team. And there was my first I think I was running the four hundred literally were like, bringing the, the hurdles out for the next race finishing understand something. Daughter. Good. That's not a race to be played with. That's nothing. Nice now would wish that upon worst enemy horrible. All right. Let's talk a little bit just because we don't have much time. But I thought this was really important. You and I agreed. That Memorial Day is a fun thing to do. Maybe I'll sleep in. You'll have a barbecue. You'll do whatever you're going to do and you'll have time off. Then we forget, especially probably little kids that just know they have a three day weekend. We forget, why and Memorial Day is one where we are honoring and remembering those that fought in the military, those that, that represented our country that passed away or having and right away because Jackie Robinson is such an important part of my life and such an important component in my success and career in broadcasting being one of the only women for so long, and he was segregated in the Calvary unit of the army Lieutenant World War Two, he was in the Black Panthers tank battalion, and he played baseball football. He ran track he did it all basketball tennis, and he served and there. A lot of guys in sports. Are there any that come like right away? I thought Jackie Robinson was there one that came to you renaissance managed to touch back on Jackie Robinson, by the way, all of the things that you listed there. But one that did come to mind with the helpful reminder from you was the NFL veteran Alejandro Villanueva. Army ranger retailers of duty in Afghanistan. And obviously one of the things that may pop into your mind as a listener is the controversial moment where he stood at the end of the tunnel. And while the rest of the scene remained in locker room and miss the protest during the national anthem surrounding police brutality and everything like that. But it was something that really spoke to his devout his devotion to time that he served and though it may have been received in a lot of different ways. It was something that you absolutely had to respect at the end of the day, just because of what he had done for this country. And the phase that he had been through Pat Tillman everybody talks about. We know his story was a very big story after nine eleven they left the NFL to serve as an army ranger in Iraqi freedom enough ghanistan, and he was killed by friendly fire in two thousand four his name comes up. Tom Landry from the NFL US army air corps. He flew a b seventeen flying fortress in the thirty. He did thirty combat missions. That is just astronaut right. That is just unbelievable. It's just try to conceptualize and I mean, I'd be remiss though, if I didn't give a little bit of love to my uncles that did serve in the army. And air force is well to the name to be completely honest with, you mama got eleven brothers and sisters. So we're not gonna go down that road but south to them and all veterans across the country. Ted Williams John wooden, Joe DeMarco. Roger Staubach Arnold Palmer. Chad Hennings lists. Go on NFL's Mike Anderson it was another fund into the night with Trevor scales. I appreciate it. "And therefore chins in their perspective changed in the course of four years or even a little bit longer. If they go the prep school their perspectives have changed two years into it. So they. So. The mechanism now is if you're Shane stare at after sophomore year, you take a massive gamble on yourself. And you go to the NHL you can't come back to the air force academy. You won't he won't be an air force academy graduate. But that was what he was forced to do. He had a bail on his education. Why why is that okay? To allow to force a young man or woman to have to bail on their education to pursue a dream players have done that. I mean, but that wise that make it right football players have transferred after their sophomore is they were like, oh, go to the NFL. Mooney transferred from air force. I don't think for the reasons of trying to go the NBA. But. Yeah. Guys and girls transfer from the air force academy that happens. So. I just what is the. So your worry is that if you allow. I just want to do this. It will completely shift. I mean, let's not forget air force plays in the mountain west conference. It's not the it's not the ACC like it's not if you are the elite of the elite, and you are on a fast track to the NBA. You're not coming air force just period, you're not going to because a lot of the guys that are going that are on that fast track are not even really that interested in college. So what you're getting some people that may. In a rare case succeed enough to be drafted professionally. But certainly I don't remember anyone that that was a legit prospect in major league baseball, NFL soccer or anything like that. That shows the air force. They all all of these athletes came to the air force academy primarily for that. And then for the educational side and military side. And then a year two years three years into their experience. They're like, oh, wait, I'm pretty good. I've hit a gross burder. I got some great training or whatever the case may be now all of a sudden, I'm a legitimate professional prospect. I don't see why if that happens in their junior year now, they're stuck and they can't go pursue their athletic career. I think you're you're denying you're worried that it's going to cause this giant paradigm shift, and it's not because the athletes are coming in are not athletes that necessarily have their eyes on. Professional career, you say they're stuck without. But that's on the NBA that's on the teams in the professional level that don't want to take a flyer on them. I mean, how many great athletes have come out of military kademi not that much. No, Roger Staubach. He was in. He went to a military kademi. Stop. Played in the David Robinson. Yeah. David Robinson's the naval. So and Chad Hennings was airforce pretty darn good. Yes. Imagine Chris Casey, Ben garland who still in the NFL just sign what the forty Niners. I mean. It's it's it's not it's not on the academies to help these kids get to the next level. They're there to help the military. What what is true Kowloon infringe territory and day pillow Povich his job at the air force academy run in athletic program for this the cadets are they? The problem. I think is that too. Many people are taking college sports too seriously. Like. It's it's colleges for education. If you want to play professionally go to Europe in play amateur for a couple of years and come back to the United States. But you're asking for and we got run to a break..
