"And by developing for PlayStation 5 and not PS4, it's gonna free up a lot of resources. People that would have to spend a lot of time trying to optimize the game to get it to run decently on a PS4 can put those efforts elsewhere and that's gotta be a welcome thing for a team these days after many years of struggling with the PS4 and Xbox One hardware to just leave those things behind. That's gotta be an albatross off the neck, right? I would imagine, yes. But if we could for a second, go back to the whole SSD thing. Yeah. I just think that that was a thing that was maybe perhaps in this console generation was like very front loaded, right? Sure. Where you kind of got a taste of that with Spider-Man. You got a taste of that with, I guess ratchet and clank to some degree. Absolutely. The truth is that you could do a lot of these things in other ways. You don't just need the SSD. You could have extra a little bit extra ram and you put a more stuff in memory, a little bit quicker and just be better about managing that stuff on the software side. Obviously there were other ways of doing these things. I think what developers like is the SSD gives them this big option available to them to do a lot of stuff so they can do a lot of these tricks without having to do a lot of work. So I should make developers lazy. Just like we've always been saying on this show. We've always suspected $70. What'd you get your act together? Now, you don't even work. You've got all the bandwidth in the world. But no, it definitely, I guess what it sort of nets out is like, is that talking point, right? Hold as much water today. I think we're still a ways off from that really seen what they're going to be able to do with these SSDs. And that's going to be in combination with them taking advantage of the more powerful CPUs that are legs better than last year. And it's like once they start really looking like scoping out in different directions than they would have in the past. In the past, it was always like, we can make these worlds bigger. And that was a one way game could always go because, you know, you could just increase the size of the game. That was going to hurt anything. You wouldn't be able to go across that world very fast. Well, now we can go across the world fast and make them bigger, but also what can we do with CPU to increase simulation in the world and improve AI? That stuff is, they weren't even thinking about that stuff. So they don't even have people on staff who have been specializing in those in those areas of expertise. So it's going to take years to sort of build up those skills before we really take advantage of it. People haven't even been born yet. Exactly. Exactly. Let's see. New PlayStation studio haven teases exciting collaboration with rockstar Mark cerny speaking of pictures of your ear. This is from Tom, I've been a VGC Sony interactive entertainment has completed its acquisition of haven studios. The company announced on Monday. It originally confirmed plans to fund an original IP from the studio that would be Sony planned to fund a game from the studio. Which was cofounded by Assassin's Creed co creator, Jade Raymond, in March of 2021. In March of this year, Sony said it planned to inquire to acquire the Canadian game studio for an undisclosed sum that deal has now closed. Speaking about what their plans are now, Jade Raymond said, so Mark cerny is one of the main reasons we're investing so much in R&D and it is and in this very senior engineering team. It's not just tied to cloud, which is one of the things they plan to mess around with. But also some more forward thinking R&D. I'm not able to say too much now, but that's obviously one of the other things that's been a big attractor and as exciting to our team with PlayStation. Of course, Mark cerny is kind of like a rockstar too, so being able to collaborate with him is really exciting. So I mean, and he's the one he is the guy who's responsible for sort of guiding the creation of the PlayStation 5s hardware. So maybe thought let's think we were just talking about like people need to take their time to take advantage of this stuff. Maybe this is the kind of team that's do it in exactly that. Maybe that's what they mean by this R&D. You need another one of those certain PowerPoints. I have the architecture exactly. What did haven make? They have not made anything yet, so this is from Jade Raymond. This is basically Jade Raymond was at ubisoft and then she left to go somewhere else and I can't remember, maybe it was square. Stadia or something? Then she went to stadia and she was going to make sure she was going to make the studio there and never released the game and now she's started a new studio that PlayStation invested in immediately and now they have a fully acquired that team. Jade Raymond, they've her teams have not shipped a game for quite some time. I think she's kind of have a couple of really unlucky dead ends and now it sounds like she's found a pathway forward to actually getting a game out and a team that's like fully present and a publisher that is ready to fund everything and it's not going to evaporate one day like Google stadia did. So yeah, that's good. Ubisoft has backed off of removing Assassin's Creed liberation from steam even for people who own it. We talked about this story a little bit on game this mornings earlier this week. Basically what was happening here is in September, ubisoft is going to take down a bunch of services that's going to affect many of its older games. And so DLC and all these other things, online features might break. And in the process, the wording that they said made it sound like Assassin's Creed liberation on steam would no longer be playable, but even if you owned it, you would no longer be able to access it or download it again. They've sent an update basically clarifying that that doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll read it here. Ubisoft has issued a follow-up statement to VGC, which implies steam's information is incorrect, and that Assassin's Creed liberation HD will remain playable after September 1st. It said, as stated in our support article, our only DLCs in online features will be affected by the upcoming decommissioning. Current owners of those games will still be able to access play or redownload them. Our teams are working with our partners to update this information across all storefronts and are also assessing all available options for players who will be impacted when

"So don't know if it's different versions if they use it differently. I was kind of happy with the version that steamed the stimuli as I was built in. What I didn't like is the fallout or far cry 6. It was terrible, and that there's a lot of haloing and stuff and a lot of those cases. I'm just happy to see more of these tricks coming about. I love it. I want to see more. I don't know if you guys saw but there were some papers released where John John carmack Mark cerny from Sony had done like a, I guess you'd say a patent, but some investigation into accelerating ray tracing in a better way that supposedly like will look the same, but it can be done in a quarter of the time, and he's figured out. That's just insane to me, man. I remember ray tracing images that would take like a data processor. I know, I know. Jesus Christ. Remember that watch the blocks like being rendered? Yeah. Yes, yes. Yeah, it was fucking nuts. I had to do like a ray tracing project. I had to add like reflection and refraction and stuff. And yeah, I had to wait a full day for it to fully render. It's crazy. Dude, I used to mess around with a program called Bryce 3D. We are Y, CE, fucking love that. And you could all, you could really do is just make a landscape with some mountains in the background. That was pretty much it. But I would sit and you'd hit render and it'd be like. They were pretty mountains, and they were like neon saturated skies. I made, I just sat for hours. And what was the other one poser for poser? Poser for the people, yeah, and you could put a person on a martial arts stance and stuff. That shit was next level. Now unreal, that's like free. You know, that's like in their already. And probably 50, 60 times better. FSR helped me a lot on CD Projekt or on cyberpunk 77. When I was still in my ten 60. Did it? I forgot. That affects the game. That's painful. But yeah, all those were very cool. So let's talk about games. Let's jump into something. Congress? So who saw the trailer? Yes, no. Like a third of it. Okay. What'd you guys think? I'll go last. Sorry, no, no, go ahead. Go ahead, good sir. It looked a little rough. In places. I think, I mean, the main thing that came up rough to me was actually like the voice acting. I saw you post a message that was just me or apparently it wasn't other people who also caught the same, but it sounded off. It sounded maybe it was like a mixing issue that it sounded off centered off compared to all the other audio levels or something. Gotcha. Okay. There was something in the delivery of it as well as some of the facial motion capture that just kind of looked off to me. But I mean, yeah, it looked fine. Though, as others have said, it doesn't appear that there's quidditch in the game..

"Re experience rational clanker learn why people loved it over the last 20 years, you could only play the 2016 version, which granted was a really great game was sort of a soft reboot of the franchise, but rift apart also kind of followed up on the last games on the PS3 that you couldn't play. And so to have those collections available on the PS5 or even the PS4 in some form, whether it's a streaming service, whether it's spartacus, whether it's a buffed up PS now, whatever that is, having those there for everyone on a much wider scale would be great. Having this like Cooper games there if they ever choose to revisit that would be awesome. And also, like you Jedi, I just really mislead Cooper. But having those things there where there is all this PlayStation history to not let people be able to dig into it unless you have an old PlayStation 3 is a bummer. It misses out on history that I think people might be interested in. A lot of people will just want to play the new thing and move on to the next new thing. And that's fine. But I do think for those who really want to be like, oh, I just fell in love with this game. How can I go play more? Oh, I need to go hunt down a $1000 console on eBay from 15 years ago. So hopefully I think again, I wouldn't assume they're just gonna suddenly flip a switch. This sort of came coupled with over the weekend. I don't know if either of you saw this, but PlayStation Japan was teasing a sort of like music video collab. Like a new a new production collaboration thing on January 23rd and they were using one, two, three, and classic PlayStation colors as the sort of teasing. And so many people thought, oh, they're going to announce PlayStation backward compatibility. Via this music video. And obviously it didn't happen, but I think it was when was the 23rd a Sunday? It was a Sunday, it was only teased by Sony, Japan, no other PlayStation affiliate, you know, tweeted it. I think when you see that stuff, just keep that in mind, but people really really care for it. If you're watching the video version, I threw this into a runner show because ever since Mark cerny gave his sort of discussion about PlayStation 5 backward compatibility. People have looked at one of the slides from his thing where it shows PS5, PS4 pro and PS4 and the way it would run backward compatibility. And everyone would go, huh, there's a lot of empty space on that graphic. Wouldn't it be perfect? She's left the PS3 PS two and PS1. And it would be. There's even kind of room to put the Vita in there on the side. I would love nothing more for this to happen. But I think these tests are indicative of works in progress. I don't think it's necessarily indicative of exactly what's going to happen until Sony announces it. But I can see PS3 versions being run like a cloud version or something like that if they have to do because of the weird the cell architecture or whatever from the PS3, I can never remember what that was called. That's a cell processor. There you go. Okay, like I remember it better than I thought. I just really want to play Final Fantasy 13 on my PS5. And that trilogy again. Well, we may not be able to dip into that for a little while longer though. I hope we can. But we do have some new games to look forward to, even if they're nebulously announced they don't have titles. I wish they would just give us names sometimes with announcements like these. But in sort of this weird brand new frontier, we thought it was worth mentioning EA and respawn and LucasFilm announced that, you know, despite EA not having the exclusive on Star Wars games, there will be three new Star Wars games coming from EA specifically from respawn either developed by them or produced by them. Which is a lot of games. First one pretty obvious, I think we all knew this was coming based on its success. Jedi fallen order two. That's not the actual name for it. They didn't give a sequel title for it, so we don't know what it's gonna be, but presumably it will continue to be sort of a third person lightsaber action game. I love Jedi fallen order two. I assumed they were working on the sequel after the success and it's exciting to hear final confirmation. I like that our B roll footage has an Xbox logo. Get rid of it. Just get rid of it. No one sees it. Just to show that I mean, you know, I always there's no bias here, guys. There's no lights. You know what? The show's getting better by the second. Get rid of the Xbox logo but then you got rid of the host. That's fine. I mean, I look through our comments regularly. And you know, people are like, these people, you know, on all our podcasts. They only play this console. They're only hyping this council. Almost everybody on staff owns at least two of the three consoles, which is so weird. And most of us own all three of the major consoles and PCs. So it's just, you know, it's funny. I always love seeing that stuff when it crosses over in our podcast, which is obviously like a very wonderful position to be in, especially with the console shortage, not everyone. Oh, yeah. But yeah, we play on everything at the end of the day, but we are very focused on Phil Spencer told us. Yes. So we have to. Oh, of course. I forgot about the emails that we shared with him..

"I do appreciate the love that people have for games about a guy who's Friends with a little guy. There's a lot of games like that. Honestly, it is a really classic construction and it's funny because if you look at like, a lot of studios have this, but I think PlayStation specifically has a lot of iconic pairs. And this is one of the ones that I think gets shout out less because it has like it was touched so long ago versus even like uncharted or any of these other games. They have more modern entries, ratchet and clank just got an entry. So it's like the one that's a little bit lost to time in some ways. Obviously, I wouldn't say it's obscured by any means. It was like a huge deal. And I think the fact that they showed the map of haven city in the weird tech thing that I forgot about was cerny or who did that at presentation with the shadow people? Who could forget? I was like, boom, that's the impact of Jack and Dax are there. And they talk a lot about open world and load times in this post and all that. But yeah, I love this game so much. Rebecca, is there a game for you that you have like heavy love and nostalgia for still that you would notice the anniversary of or really be excited to sort of celebrate? Well, the people who listened to me, y'all constantly will get sick of hearing this. But obviously it's golden sun for me. That's the game that I never shut up about. That's the game that the release of the lost age. Like golden sun was already out when I discovered it, so I don't have as much nostalgia for the originals anniversary, but the lost age when that came out, I remember that being one of the first video game releases that I was like, day one, mom and dad take me to the store. I need to get this game. And so I remember golden like every year it comes around and there's a Twitter account that does. Oh, golden summit however many years old and I think, oh man, man, I wish they would, I wish they would make another game that isn't dark gone. So yeah, that's for me. That's the that's a really good one. You have, again, cold and sun isn't like a known or anything, like it is talked about, but I think it's definitely less disgusting than other titles. You have the deep cuts. It's like a medium. Yeah. It depends on how may casual you are for how deep of a cut it is, but yeah, that's one that I also really liked. I don't think I beat it, but that was like what I remember from my childhood era of having played and it was kind of like one of the allier games for me because I really did grow up very heavily on platformers, which is why I have these random gaps of like, I'm like, oh, I didn't play that because you were like shooting stuff. And I was like, nah, we're just here to jump. We're just jumping around. I was from Pokémon to all JRPGs for a while. That's the pipeline, I think. That is the appropriate pipeline for it. But yeah, that's an awesome one to shout out. And then lastly, I want to pull in this pretty fun story about these PlayStation meals, essentially. This comes over from games radar, which writes a PlayStation is partnering with delivery in Australia to deliver dishes based on iconic games, like uncharted four and the last of us two. Starting today, December 3rd, three restaurants will be taking part in the hashtag PlayStation to play campaign, two of those restaurants, both based in Sydney, will be making dishes based on nor dog games. Mary's is making the steak sandwiches offered to Ellie by Seth towards the start of last of us two spoilers while the Italian bowl recreates the pasta dish that Nathan Drake and Elena eat in uncharted four as the former wrestles with yet another adventure to call. So I brought this in just because I thought it was like a fun little random thing. I like weird food mash ups with games, but also this is like your bag. I don't want to say too much 'cause I want you to speak on, what is your background with food and games? Do you have an interesting question? Look how cute they look. I want to eat one. So I'm definitely a trailer. Yeah, so yeah, video game food is like a thing that I am apparently into now. I bet she's what year was it? However many years ago, I got a World of Warcraft cookbook for Christmas. And I made one recipe in it, and it was really good. And then I made another, and that was really good. And then before I had known it, before I realized that I had made ten recipes out of it, they were all really good. And I looked at the table of contents and I said, oh, I could probably just make all of these. And so over the next year and a half, I made every recipe in the World of Warcraft cookbook. And that was so fun. I then started doing it with The Elder Scrolls cookbook. And then I finished that one. And then I did the mother's cookbooks like EarthBound and the mother series and I finished that one. And now I'm working on making every recipe in the legends cookbook, which is Legend of Zelda. I actually have some seafood paella, which is a breath of the wild recipe on deck for next week. But yeah, I love doing video game food. I'm not a fancy accomplished chef or anything. I don't think I could ever create my own recipes like these people are doing, but you've got video game food show it to me. I am so interested in how people translate fictional dishes. I mean, the last of us a steak sandwich. Is that what it was a steak sandwich? That's a reasonable thing to make. But I especially love when it gets real fantastic. Weird fantasy food and how we translate that into something that someone could actually eat. What's the wildest food you've made in terms of like that kind of translation like that less concrete translation? Oh man, so the final recipe I did out of the mother's cookbook. If you've ever played EarthBound, I say the name wrong all the time because I've never heard it out loud. I just say it in my head and read it. Magic sense, that medicine, the place with all the pink clouds, it's like this magical kind of zone that he's in. There was a recipe in there called peak cloud cotton candy, which was not actually a food in EarthBound. I don't think it was just to represent those pink clouds. And if you have a cotton candy machine or if you've seen one before, you know how they work it spins it around. But this was hand pulled cotton candy. And so what I had to do was make candy syrup and then wait for it to cool off to a specific temperature and then flour up my hands and then twist this rope into strands and I found so hurting it over and over to make as many strands as possible to try to make cotton candy. I failed. My rule is it counts if I at least try it and from start to finish. So I didn't actually it's really hard to do. There are people I don't remember where they got this recipe from, but apparently there's people there's like street food vendors in certain regions who can do this like super fast and super accurately and it's very impressive. But it was weird and it was so cool and I learned so much about how to make candy and what cotton candy even is. And yeah, that was really cool, but I've got a ton of weird ones. I think they call that dragon's hair, right? This yeah, that's what it is. Yeah. Yeah, that's wild. And then so I was thinking, if you had to make a video game meal, what would you make?.

"Rachelle are going to be a little bit happier. The halloween decoration time. That's a stressful cup of williams tissues ready. Yeah it's gonna be rough the rubber that is really gonna worry so again that the importance of this game don't want to say it's a must-win seems way too early to say it's must win when even in october yet and by two and one going into that stretch if you a lot better wanted to go into that stretcher wonder man wheels could come off for yes. It's like the momentum going which we attest to see what type of leader hurts his if he can rally his team has responsibility inexperience any. You know one loss. I lost all right. are we gonna. How are we going to respond to this. And this is one of those moments. Where i think what of the sort of underlying fins about hurts that i think people not say missed on it. His draft ross's but like given way to was the leadership quality. And i talk about this. A lot quarterback. It's a monday morning to to whistle of position right like obviously the opposition. You've got to put the work in his dot quarterback the eyes are on you. You walk into the eyes are on you. the is on. You started monday more and how you turn to. The page from. The last loss hurts us an incredible leader. You're talking about somebody that transfers to oklahoma and is immediately a captain. We all saw the footage of ham is first game at all. All he wins. He's back in the weight. Were lifted weights. Don't pads like you're going to need that quality this we to get ready for this game. Which is we just outlined important. Very important determining factor cerny factor for this week also noted Offensive coordinator calamar. He did a really really good job with his play calling. Only i can only imagine what he's going to be scheming up for the eagles. Moore's of very good play caller We started week. Wanted a lot with the sort of double stocks. Get the to stacks lots to each side. They had that great touchdown to cd land. Where usually we yell. When you throw that little smokescreen the front guy blocks torture the back you. You're setting up. That fake screen guy goes deep right at. It's usually the front guy that fakes block and and goes deep. They did it. Where front guy faked blockade goes inside and it's lamb. They figure two and goes deep. Which is something. That i've seen before but like the high school college level k. Remember i'm sure it's been done. But not a lotta nfl coordinators. Doing that more is very good with pre snap movement trying to get guys confused. They do a lot of at the snap movement where you're trying to react time as a defense where wait everybody's moving now. What do i do and it's confused. So he's a very good offense to play. Call very good offensive play designer. Of course flipside is mike. Mccarthy who at the end of that game against the chargers have orders classic clock management blunders that thankfully douses sake. They actually won that game on his field. But more like you said rachelle. He's a fantastic play caller. This is gonna be really interesting. Do you go. elliott elliott. We saw from tony warning gain ms running game. But you think ezekiel elliott is going to be a problem for i mean. Look you mentioned hargraves. You mentioned fletcher cox. This is a good run front and what was interested about dallas. We won a similarly good defensive front right it avail. Donna can sue buck. Nears have some guys up front to they basically said. Hey zeke yell repaid to the big contract. You're going to be block into that. You're gonna be passed blocking. We're gonna throw it fifty times. You might see that again more might say look you know ezekiel. Elliot's a great talent..

"Edified screwdrivers out. I'm right there with you. Gary but the great news is that for you and me who who want it but aren't in desperate need of it. You have to wait now. Three four more days. Jeff grubb in our to a shot. Of course jeff. Grubb from game speed. Of course jeff. Grubb from giant bomb puts in there. I have a four terabyte. Ssd my ps five. I'll post a video soon. jeff got into it. I saw him The beta i guess. I saw him post a weeks ago now that he was doing this. Jeff is of course one of my most trusted industry I'm not saying friends. Like one of the people in industries that i follow when jeff up there's video and says this is the one i use. It was easy. Great when i g inputs of your name tried. Here's the one that doesn't even need a hinxton. Is the up honestly the one that got me thinking okay fine. I'll probably grab. this is mark. Cerny posted he said it was like one of those ones that looks like a big chocolate bog as the saint a western digital awesome he put into industrial terminate a chip or whatever that you put into his playstation with mark cerny. He's doing it. That's close as you're going to get to approve. All short of some you know officials certification. So i feel like we're right at that tipping point now right where we're going to you know we're going to start seeing those efficient lists and drives they're gonna start shipping with some kind of labelling on it that says you know cepheid official. This will work and you playstation five and at that point. I think i'd be happy to grab one. Because i definitely want to upgrade my storage It's i'm tired of juggling games on it. And i would love to get. I mean jeffey. Grub grub going over the top with four terabytes just going to would make a big difference to me. Yes my same thing is. I'm just gonna wait it out. Let go and then when somebody's like this is the great one that had been using it for a month and a half and it hasn't fried my. Ps five great. Because that's my only concern. Gary i don't wanna put something in. There could be the guinea pigs restaurant. I know there are people out there that want to be the early adopters not going and grabbing the dry minute are available and they're willing to experiment. God bless him. I'm glad they're out there. Some you know someone's going to be the canary in the coal mine. I just don't want it to be may i. I do want the extra storage. But i'm not desperate for it. Obviously with the xbox it was easy to just the thing in the back and you knew it was going to work and it worked. They won For this whether it's a bit more wild west type situation in a way. It's good because you know there's gonna be more choice. It's going to be competition for third party drive manufacturers out there. Competition increases availability. Bring prices down. There are going to be lots of options. I just don't want any uncertainty told none about the drive. The order being the one that's going to a performance fast as it possibly can and be not in any way damage. The place nightmare. What if this thing would've put it in there and it bricks. That's what i'm saying. I'm ready to go a couple of months bricks. And you're gonna get another playstation. You can't get anywhere. Do send you off to sony and white. "We need to do here right in order to figure out what the next thing to do is it's very iterative and customers. Don't like that narrative they want the answer upfront. In proposal format spelled out in black and white and i think that puts them at a disadvantage and forces them to show that a bunch of money to an agency for stuff that they don't know cerny. Yeah that's almost the opposite end of the spectrum in another big bone to pick too. I think there's two things is that you know. An ad agency looks at just ads. And that's the only thing that they look at and they say the ads are going to solve everything without looking at anything after the click. And then there's the funnel companies that charge an exorbitant amount of money and know that they're going to be gone in sixty ninety days but don't really care because they've already collected. I think you need to do both together. But you need to make the diagnosis on the front end and mvp it like whenever we launch anything new like you'll probably see our ads for tier eleven. You'll see ads out there. And some of them are really shitty. Some of merg okay and some of them end up being good so we just mvp stuff we figure out like throw a few ideas against the wall what sticks and then figure out like the one that does get traction then we iterative on it. So when you're first starting out when you don't have an offer that's proven that's typically what you should do. You shouldn't just put all your money into one thing. You should test out lots of different ideas at low cost but if your business and you have a funnel or you have an offer that's proven it maybe two or three or four of more looking at a number of different customers right now like a customer. We talked to friday three different funnels and we said all right. What's the one. That's the big moneymaker for you right now. That's doing the best and we focused on that one..

It goes through a phone. They just put it right on the frame. Yes i love that you know and the graphics are a little bit wrong and crisp and clean. Just like i had south school rajendra. Oh dude is i'm streaming from my. Rn yeah yeah dog so annoying. I love when they do that. Ends like poop book or like you know insta- fan yeah like live and all the graphics are little bit all the gain. What's instigators i'm live. I'm having fun on tim town. What'd you get out of here. Because they're the mercedes benz c three hundred it out with ego boost and then we all get inside and even in the same idea had for the music video which you know may happen one day but we have to do that. Yeah we have to everything. Fully branded Dialogue is atrocious. Like it'll just cut to empty. There's never extras or anything. Super empty and weird dog. No and then. Some people don't even have dialogue. They just announced what they are. Yeah i'm the poor a completely different scene or like super long contextual statements. yeah like addison. I know your mom died when you were four and you felt really sad about it up until now because you've got a date with corey image. You feel a little better about it and you have some deeper issues because your mom still dying and you haven't really gotten over it but i think you should go talk to him. Yeah i would but you're just kind of being hard on me ever since. Your dad broke his two kneecaps in that skiing accident and a completely changed your outlook on life causing you to be a bit less reserve in a bit more forward thinking. I'm just not in that same place because remember. My mom died in that car. When i four and i just haven't really recovered from that we'll here. Here's a beats pill to make you feel better about that. Oh my god. I love his brand new addison. Oops i love this. New song by battiston ray and the teacher comes up. Whoa is that new madison ray song available on tim tam temptation but for some people take talk and then yeah yeah. Yeah it's it's it's crazy. And they take the whole like twenty four year olds being high-schoolers thing to the nth degree. Yeah which is kinda fair. High school. Do take trend now. Yeah yeah that's true there fucking pretty. Okay now fucking jack honestly by the way. Go watch my first acting project ever. It's on amazon and get it's called the boonies. Oh yeah you go. If you wanna see a bad performance and bad just general nece go watch that. I feel a you know i just want to apologize. Everyone for ranting about the two most insignificant cultural things. Jake paul winning a fight on points. It fucking depressed me though man. I know i was. And i was like every time every time i keep i keep doing this every time like and it just made me feel like this was just another like crypto scam like it made me feel the same way of those make you feel or it's like oh man so many people that just got scammed and this and the the amount of people now like buying the rights to things in it in anticipation of milking them for bad shit later like we thought the whole you know milking of nostalgia shit was over. Yeah there was a period of that was like ninety kids. Be like you know Like a content play great you know and buzzfeed or do nineties kids articles and disney princess. Shit and whatever's i okay. Whatever fine and there are movie remakes right. 'cause but now it's just like now it's just like another level where they get the rights to script and the rights to a name and the rights to a person and in ten years dog. Wait for it this going to be. He's sort of all that with the to pock hologram. No it's going to be like that and they're going to get Home alone with bryce hall. No it gonna be. Oh you mean dead person. Yeah sorry. I just tuned in europe. Two day shipping. You're on the other. Yeah you're sitting on the couch that a bit. Well what's funny. Is that like we've already been through this era like five years ago when logging youtubers into shit like they were like you know. Take buying these cheap scripts plugging youtubers in and thinking. I'll like people love these guys. It's going to be a hit. And then mattie project eight the dirt. Yep oh five years later for. Some reason is happening all over again. The weirdest thing was that show on full screen is created by the guy who created a american horror story. Had like amanda cerny like some other people what is called probably nabi into that goofy premier. Oh the full screen thing. Yeah i think it was called the deleted. Yeah yeah yeah but that footage was man that was just like the director horned up. Yeah i mean that's what someone called it. They're like yeah. This is just whoever create american horror story this disney excuse for envious pervert thing made no sense. It was yeah it was the same shit. It's it's the only thing is that back. Then it happened. You know like in a vacuum almost because it was like on full screen. Go ninety where it's like. They didn't have any subscribers. Projects were still eating shit. "They could create cars. That could then just drive by themselves and maybe the ultimate kind of an point of life as machines with a human life like our only purpose to get machines to the point where they could tick over themselves and then once they're not yes they're going to kill us off because we were just a stepping stone to what they really wanted which used to be able to drive themselves. That's our ultimate purpose drones and delivering our packages. It was all about. We'll keep going so imagine a world where there's new humans but still there's drones delivering packages trends running on time. There are cars going to work at nine and coming home at five. Maybe that's-that's have you watched the bill burden especially at no. There's a song in it. That's really good. Call a that funding feeling. So when you watch it maybe give it a gander over the weekend and we can talk about an episode on. Somebody does suggest that is really good yet. Because i drove a tesla. And the same thing i did the self-driving nfl vary unnatural has a very on human really experience drive and they didn't like it at all. I think you have to do it a few times to get used to it but i do. There's one point where it beat dot started going into the verge. Yes no as relaxing as i thought it was going to be. I do like the the break before. You're too close to the car in front feature but even that it's still it's all very Trippy and this is just the beginning. So we'll see what happens and that's just normal cars. This yeah like the tesla's are insane so yeah one day. I just got volvo. Because i it was the safest thing in the world and they've just been not true anymore leaps and bounds ahead now with all the bells and whistles all these safety features. It's unbelievable no one cares about part of the conversation you so much for listening well. Nato bite living in the present right totally pay just plea absolutely. I would take away things. Excellent meeting just like anything else. It is wonderful thing to do if you are under an immense amount of anxiety. You can't get your head straight. You don't know what's going on takes a moment get presents center yourself does not need to be a lifestyle that allows to stay away from the internal traumas both passing the future. Yes very good. I might take away is that we are creatures that are within the past present and future you can't they're all intertwined and interrelated so the past is always present in some way. The future is always present in some way at. It's an we live in a kind of a on tigers in the deuce three things create and also it's interesting to do the same technique of becoming president but focusing entirely on your past a nice little way to jerk out some memories. If you're someone who's never want him i'm dilate. They the hagel which i was talking about san cerny. This is the precursor to psychoanalysis because psychoanalysis on depth psychology. I think to see is Is all a bite making space for the thing. That isn't there which is called the repressed right so so hagel is saying not whenever you try to live in the present. There's something excluded. You kind of exclude your pass. You exclude the future. You're excluding something dot excluded thing always returns. It always comes back in some way. And if it's not healthy it's unhealthy freud. Later comes along. And he calls that excluded dimension the repressed he says the repressed is what you. It's it's type of trauma type of nothing that you try to exclude from the present but if you exclude that dimension from the present it will return in a violent an unhealthy way. So psychoanalysis developed from germany german idealism as as technology to enable you to we've nothingness to we've kind of what you're trying to exclude into your presence lovely. So that's that's why. I think that therapeutic processes that are all living in the president or ultimately feel because the one thing you exclude is the repressed on oxy. Repressed is what you wanna bring the repressed from your past. You wanna bring into your presence. I like the way you exclude her. Exclude yeah that's exactly. i think. That's a lovely Summation of everything. I think that we were talking about. I gotta get into hegel. I know if i'm i don't know who am i doing. I'm not doing hengel right now. I definitely need to do hegel Because he comes up all the time and in my readings. But i don't have any kind of understanding that any real solid foundation on. I'm gonna do i by the way when i start. Maybe course on here in the near future. If you wanna give me the bullet points now i need to learn it on my own it. Hey you have to pay your violent. I've thank you so much. Do you want to. Then mommy fifty bucks and i'll do red snake for you and vegas. Yes i do absolutely can even do thighs and bucks tan sized bucks to well. Maybe not yeah yeah. Don't then mommy that. I think fifty bucks or ten. I think i'll have to do fifty bucks on maybe fifty bucks on like five rents knicks. Fan bucks a pop okay. I won't five reds next so easy okay. All right thank you. Everybody enjoy your time and don't forget to state not present..

"Where the m-2 ssd devices sequential read. Speed is faster than fifty five hundred megabytes per second. So you might surpass the the sequential read speed of their spec and they can't guarantee that game is running off. An external will perform the same way as they do often internal which. Then what are we doing. The point here was to try to get games to the load speeds of. Ps five games is one of its most fascinating features a game like ratchet and clank benefits. Quite a bit from that tech. And if you're telling me i can go out and spend a thousand dollars on a four terabyte. Ssd and you can't tell me that it's going to run that game. The same way is a mess. This is a god damn mess and you get my beta there. And they haven't certified anything maybe they're just like a. We're just to be safe. We're going to say all this stuff and maybe that eventually tightens up once more. Testing has been done or something but like what's this just. What's weird is that every other generation prior. They didn't really do anything different right like they offered a way to. Diy replacing the drive. It just that this time around there are these prerequisites and requirements. That are that are not you know one hundred percent end to the point you just made. Don't don't give you necessarily the same exact one to one experience as because all those all those drives were separate drives. They weren't on the pcp. They weren't hard mounted in a way. That ps five just seems to have this strange architecture situation where it's like. Oh this is also a thing you need to consider when you add. One of these super profess drives right. Yeah i mean. There were cases last generation where it was like. Oh games on an xbox one actually loading faster off an external usb. Then i'm the internal drive like weird cases like that like you like wait. What but that's just kind of how it was in some cases then and this is i mean like i think people are right when they say like whatever. It's something you just do once and never think about again and like the installation process is like literally year screen in there near done. It's not some arduous process. I think people could definitely do it. Obviously it's not as easy as slamming the expansion card into the back of an unexpected Xbox series x but it's not a it's not a massive technical undertaking to put this drive into a ps five if you've never seen an m. two before. I bet it's a bit scarier. You know what i mean because yeah because you danone and screw it and stuff like you know you go watch a video and you're like okay. I get it. Yeah okay. it's not a break it in half the right. of course you want. I wonder if the issue. That's because sony must've known that they would have had to have had larger hard drives in the. Ps five eventually. So i wonder was the original thoughts that by the time they were year or a year and a half or two years into this cycle that they could release a higher bigger hard drive version of it and then that would be the natural way that people upgrade and sell their old machines but because of the chip problems. That's probably not going to happen for three years now or something and they're trying to pivot or they must notes. It's a good question. Yeah yeah. I think it's a little bit of everything but not necessarily. I think it's probably still too early to expect like a new larger driving. Because i don't think drive. Prices have moved a enough to to make that a reality right. So i guess some of that is probably you're right. It probably is all tied into chip shortages. And all this other stuff the other thing is that when you go and look up. These drives on like say an amazon and a lot of other retailers. The drives that are being recommended by digital foundry and stuff like that. They're all sold out. Yeah so it's even hard to get a hold of these things even if you want you know even if you wanted one today it's not going to be the easiest thing in the world to get some of these i i haven't clicked on every single. Retailer listing to to check. But like you know. That's going to be a hassle so sony hasn't Sony hasn't come out and confirmed that there's any drives work but some manufacturers have mrs coming from Video games chronicle seagate and western digital are out there saying hey we are drives work in the ps five. Wd has its wd black line which that's the external ssd that i use on my ps. Five right now is. Wd black and it's it's fine for running. Ps four games off of for sure. And they got some tweets from mark cerny with no link owning mark. Cerny where he he went out and and tweeted about the wd black drive that they that he ended up buying a couple of those. And then weird that this is where news zappa videogames chronicle also reported mark cerny liked a tweet. Someone asked if the fire khuda five thirty. Ssd from seagate was a good option. That's funny so that's not necessarily endorsement but he liked that tweets sir not an endorsement through. So we don't really know so then yes then. Then you've got the the digital foundry list is seems like a good. It's a list of drives that they that they say meet the listed requirements And they seem to have tested. At least some of these. I guess but but some of them require an additional heat sink some of them come with heat sinks on them already and so that aspect of it seems like it could be a real pain in the ass and they have a separate list of of compatible heat sinks. This is a lot to be a lot gets to be a lot on. Install some stuff. it's fine. Don't worry about it but like that drive is so fucking small put. That's like yeah. I'm kind of with you wherever like it's actually not that. Maybe it's not that big a deal right now all wait for people to figure this out who are not me but for me. The bullet point saying that. You might get a drive that meets all these requirements. But it's still not as fast. That's the part where i go like. Okay well wait a minute. You can't even tell me that these drives are gonna definitely work and then certain drives are going to read differently. The more full they are so is that become factor. Is that the next phase of this where it's like well. It runs great as long as you. Empty out the rest of the drive. It's pretty crazy but that made it from whereas out there and if you've got selected for that beta then maybe you're already doing this. I don't know. Or maybe you're just experiencing i guess three d audio through speakers. They added that and there. It was previously only available through headphones. Headset yeah. I don't know i've heard much about how well that is or is not working. But i believe that's in that beta firmware.

Editing in Isolation

"Welcome back to another episode of this week in Photo I. Am your host Frederik van Johnson today. Lee Herbert is on the show. He's a final cut pro expert who has been using the absence like the early days of the software I think when it yet cert- up with a crank or something. Now Lee is the expert. He's talking all over the world these days. Virtually we're GONNA talk about how his business has changed as an editor that's Kinda stuck sheltering in place like the rest of us Lee Herbert Welcome showman how you doing. Much. I'm much like the rest of the will of surviving this year. So yeah, we we're getting. We're we're we're based in Melbourne. So we are now in I think we twelve or thirteen time has no relevance anymore of of lockdown here. So Yeah, it's It is what it is. It is what? gives us the the Reader's Digest. Story the first resume paragraph of WHO Lee Herbert is. Yeah, the first line, which ironically as an editor I, struggle to keep things brief when I'm talking. which. Because as an editor, obviously your main job is to make sure that you tell your story in the most short and succinct way. But when I'm telling marine. Story. But. So a little bit about me I have had many over the years but I worked in the apple wheels for ten years of a favorite Tom was that as a final per China. But at the same time, I also did a lot of theatre and TV and things like that and so I sort of ended up wanting to do a lot more production work. So I left Apple. Back in two thousand, thirteen I think two, thousand, thirty, two, thousand, fourteen, and started mining production company I. Still focused a favorite on training really enjoy the training side of things but yes oh, you know thankfully, we've been going from strength strength and so been doing. Mostly corporate videos for large and medium and sometimes small corporate clients my passion Israeli documentaries because I. Love. I love telling people stories in learning people's stories and Yes. BUYS. That's that's the the high level view of what I do and why do it? That's cool and you love this stuff I mean you you've been editing on I mean obviously as evidenced by posters on the wall behind you, you are a fan of apple products? And you have not working. We're apple a for a while since I've known you've been contracting on an offer. Those guys, right. Yeah it's. Yes on an. been doing doing stuff for them. Luckily I get to do stuff for up dump stuff cerny done stuff for a lot of stuff in the medical field. So we worked visor with books for GlaxoSmithKline. Quite a few local companies here as well. Obviously was the big stuff. But yes I've been doing a lot of corporate and I really. It's funny. The corporate side of things I think photography might get this quite a lot as well is that I get quite a lot of friends of mine who are in the field but they work more in in narrative do soap operas they do movies and things like that and they say to me Oh you know I'd hate to do corporate stuff because you sort of a confined and be. You know you might not have. A particularly exciting product to talk about and I was like, yeah. But that's like that's the really cool thing for me is I love the idea of having to look at a widget and go how can I make this widget coup? How can I find the story and helped tell the widget story so that you know the people can get it like I was just having a virtual meeting with a client earlier this week in you know she was saying that they want to build a relationship with the production company because I don't just want to talk about the speeds and feeds of what they sell they WanNa talk about the benefits they want to talk about you know. got these cool buttons but here's why does cool buttons are going to make your life better and here's why you should buy it. So I really like that aspect of. Doing corporate work yeah, yeah, this whole world though you know as you as you look at just sort of the shifting of where things are right now, you know like the title of this, the stream slash recording is editing an isolation and as you and I were talking about offline last week I think it was there has been some positive you know obviously. You know the whole thing is negative. There's no way to spin it as positive but there are some cracks in the clouds and that are revealing new revenue streams that you didn't have prior to the whole pandemic. He talked about that a little bit of how things have shifted from Lee. Herbert hopping on a plane first-class to go to a gig versus. Lebron up skype in firing of invoices. What does it look like? It's definitely Dif- Liam. been quite different from that. So I'll given. So obviously like I had when when everything sort of started going crazy I had at least five to ten jobs that were either put on hold canceled, and obviously I'm not going to get flourine outs to the USO Asia wherever it is GonNa fly me out to to shoot stuff for them but the interesting converse of that is. Interestingly enough events because my my company we do we do a few events. We got a couple of in the middle of the year and then a couple at the end of the year. But like regular ones, men bits and bobs coming but we didn't really do a lot of events and funnily enough a lot of the work that's coming from lately is from virtual conferences. So I've had quite a few corporate clients who they've got staff members who are presenting it at virtual conferences, and thankfully they have realized very quickly that just doing it on a Webcam is not a good look for the company. I think we've all kind of like one of my biggest concerns when when the whole lockdown thing started is if you watch the news just about everyone that they were interviewing on the news, which is in the terrible lighting situation with you know they they elect either under the nose looking straight up they nose as what will up somewhere and you got people in the background working with their underwear it was. Dogs and cats living together complete my him and I was looking at that going. Oh, my goodness I. Really Hope People don't get used to it and go. Okay. Well, this is just how you know. You're not going to have good lighting. You're not going to have good camera. You're not gonNa have good microphone and we just going to be eastern that's going to be fine. I was like I'm out of work. This is awful. But thankfully, what's happened is a lot of my clients have looked gaunt. Yeah. You know we could do better. So there's been a favorite of consulting but I've done. So locally here in Melbourne between lockdowns, I worked with quite a few clients who realize that they were going to be working from home lot. Warn I helped them get even if it was just bit a webcams or just. A little you know like, for example, a lot of them when they could get them in stock. This thing called the Algata cam link between you and me there's tons of these for twenty bucks on Amazon that you can get instead of big fancy expensive ones. which allow you to connect. Dias Laura Ramirez camera into your computer used as Webcam as I am with my ach three now.

Back To School Special: The Little Gardener With Julie Cerny

"How did you come to right the Little Gardner and who? Who is your target audience and why? For me the the why that I'll start with the way I feel like even the book we start with the why right the idea of setting an intention and having that beat the place you go back to when you feel. a little off track or maybe a little overwhelmed or maybe over in your head or just find calm in your sense of Pirka. So the why for the Little Gardner in? To. Really is to cultivate ecological literacy this understanding that. We human and all the other life that we see on this planet would not be possible without ecological systems. And From any of us in our in our day to day. That relationship is not. Visible or it's it takes a lot of energy. To find the in to have a working and meaningful relationship with. Gardening I feel is one of the most accessible way to you know to the most number of people to form a connection to nature because very simply we all eat you food is nature nature is food and so when I. When I think about. What You know my own purpose and my own heart and operating. In. This world is to cultivate conscious connection to nature and to create joyful connections between ourselves and nature. Ourselves and each other and ourselves and ourselves and I find that gardening is a beautiful way to do that. So the book. The target, audience. Is. Really. For anyone who wants to reconnect with nature and the way it's designed for a quote unquote big gardener and a quote Unquote Little Gardner for some combination of that kind of team to work together to create a garden together and understand. That a garden. Really. Nature. It's cultivated nature but the same systems really apply. So it it serves as this. For me a distinctly. Beautiful classroom. Where those walls are broken down where we can have these meaningful relationships between ourselves nature and each other. And have those Come alive experiences, and the fact that those things can happen whether you have an acre to work with more if you have, you know a gallon bucket or an old yogurt container sitting. On a porch on a sunny window so That accessibility was really important to me. and. I. Thank you. For years I've been say, oh, now more than ever. It's important that we connect with each other. You know what? It's always going to be important that we connect with nature we. To be to be. Blunt about it we wouldn't be here without nature we are a part of it and So I always feel like it's the most important time to be reconnecting

Sony Clarifies PS5 Backward Compatibility

"Did mention sort of the one substantial actual bit of PS Five News. We got inbetween shows of course covered Mark Sunnis in-depth tech talk about the PS five. From last week that was originally meant to be. Gd Talk so if you didn't check out that episode you go listen to last week's to figure our thoughts on that a very complex discussion but after the fact. Sony updated their playstation blog. Post about this not once but twice to clarify some of the backward compatibility confusion that stemmed from was unclear about mark. Sunni's fifty minute long explanation. What could possibly leave room for clarification? Of course no. It was very buttoned up into the point and nothing uncertain for fans know there was some Scuttlebutt even having Turnley about whether or not cerny was discussing the fact that all of the library would be backward compatible and only one hundred games would be available launch or if only one hundred games would be available in the PS fives boost mood from ps four or some other combination of. Maybe we'll only actually get to play. Twenty Games backward compatible The update that the playstation blog actually put out was with all of the amazing games. Npr's catalog we've devoted significant efforts to enable our fans to play their favorites NPS five. We believe that the Omer overwhelming majority of the four thousand. Ps Four titles will be playable. Ps fought were expecting backward compatible. Titles will run any boosted frequency on. Ps five so that they can benefit from higher or more stable frame rates and potentially higher resolutions were currently evaluating Games on a title by title basis to spot any issues that need adjustment from the original software developers in his presentation. Mark Cerny provided a snapshot into the top one hundred most played ps four titles demonstrating. How well are backward? Compatibility efforts are going. We are have already tested. Hundreds of titles are preparing to thousands more as we move toward launch. We will provide updates on backward compatibility along with much more news in the months ahead. Stay tuned. So that's kind of worrisome. Honestly we dug into it a little bit last week but it it sort of makes me think that That fans are going to be finding problems in these games that weren't caught initially by Sony's in house developers and testers because the if they're going through on a case by case basis. I don't know if that's how the xbox hard works because their message was very clear of just like all the old games work here now whereas playstation they're like what we it seems like they basically prioritized that most played once the most popular ones Which is good. It's a good start Indefinitely better than the complete lack of backwards compatibility. We've had them. Ps Four but It makes it seemed like to me. You're going to play some like you know. Sort of niche game two years from now and find a bunch of technical hiccups in it. And then you're GONNA ask them the patch amount and they're going to say we don't. We can't justify the time and resources to do that. Like I have the playstation now APP. I don't know where I might have stuck that in the folder that might be just like pushed all the way down the train from other games of playing before it Because it's something I don't really use a lot but it's also like they. They've changed up the languaging on that a little bit when it started it was just like a streaming thing and now you can download some games and so I think they really need to scream from the rooftop sue and not just for people like awesome people listen to show but like you know con. Consumer Carl or whatever like the guy walks into a store. Yeah I mean like right now. You can download. Ps Four NPS Games and play them off line. And that's not really the thing that I think they're shouting about enough because I've thought about man. I would love to revisit some. Ps Two games. I don't have the chance to. I can download these re masters of the final fantasy games. When they're on sale but game passes get literally every remastered final fantasy game from the past like two generations. So why wouldn't I just wait to play

Everything We Learned from Mark Cerny’s PlayStation 5 Deep Dive

"Cerny held a fifty ish minute discussion about the tech behind the PS five. There were no games. Shown they did not show the box or the controller or released price. Any of the biggest stuff that we're waiting for but we did see a couple of major things including some of the tech behind quickly. Go through some of that even though it's a lot of numbers I don't quite fully understand but we have a lot of resources on June to help you understand it So they confirmed that be. Gps AMD RADIAN OUR DNA to based graphics engine are retracing acceleration and it has variable frequency up to two point twenty three Gigahertz With ten point three teraflops and we'll get to the big tariff op discussion and a little bit It has GD are six sixteen bytes memory four hundred forty gigabytes of bandwidth per second A solid state drive with eight hundred twenty five gigabytes and five point five gigabytes per second read bandwidth raw It will support. Ps Five Game. Discs that are ultra hd blu-ray up to one hundred gigabyte disks and the audio and it will be the tempest three d audio tech so there was a lot in addition to all of those terminologies and discussion of some of the parts. That are being involved in that fifty minute talk and I think we'll break down the biggest points but what was everyone's overall impression of this discussion. I guess I'll start because this is weird and we can't really judge who's GonNa talk fast. I came home with like I thought that it was Off this is great I thought that it was a I mean. It was very very dry presentation from Sony and I think that that was to be expected considering it was already like it was always going to be at GDP star. It was a very like I tweeted out. It was a very cut and dry. Gdp presentation it was very much flow develop. His it was for It was kind of like A. Here's how easy it is to develop. Organised system is how easy. It's going to be to develop on this. That was the one the major message from a consumer side. I thought that the history stuff like even though we already knew a lot about the say well we knew that it was going to heaven as saying that you know as a capable of that really excited me the basically the facts that they said that they had to like in some games he can to slow it down because it's actually too fast is amazing. I'm also really interested in what your side of things the Three d audio. I love the idea that it can be so impressive that it sounds like it's coming from the real world Those I noticed that he really broadly he went into really specific. Ticks off but for for my mind as a consumer and not not in video game developer. Those are the things that stood out. Yeah I'm with you on that. I think it was interesting. That like we. We've been saying teraflops. Oh year and Mark Cerny made it sound like that's not really the best way to compare power Just putting teraflops against each other Ps five loses to xbox series Ex It has lasted them. But it's making up for it in other departments. I think it's like we're also seeing specs from both sides would which is essentially what they would look like overclock Specifically like the five. It's like this is how this will operate at Max capacity and I don't know how often that's actually going to be used the three audio things really interesting 'cause aid. They mentioned something about sort of like digging into it. It was like the capability of sending photos of your ears to Sony so they can get a better understanding of how exactly to cater sound specifically to them and it reminded me of a couple years ago at IGA and we had to get. I have B.'s. fitted and this woman came in and filled our ears with wax and like a hose and basically created this thing that fits perfectly inside of our ear so that went out cruisers yelling at us on a real show if we ever have a video game convention again or anything like that like the good old days Will be able I. It will fit perfectly. It won't be falling out. I've I've done live shows much where this thing's falling out of my ear like the idea of having a custom custom audio and accustom headphone or something like that can interface properly with the PS. Five outside of the customization of controller your hardware. Nothing like that is really interesting. It's the kind of stuff that I don't ever think about when I think about the next generational leaps. It's something that far smarter. People have to come up with his. Mo is just like Games Graphics Loading Times frame rate and for something like this. It's like Oh this is very clearly a next step. This is something new. This is something interesting. And it's it's it's really awesome and it's funny. You say just right there I wanna point out and then Max will get to you He you said you know when I think about the next year and I think games graphics and we don't normally say games graphics sound even though sound can be important in sound at least on the seventy five things in the specially insurnace talk one of the things. He's most interested in. Is I think elevating sound the discussion around sound in games to the level. We talk about visuals and whether or not that happens. Of course we'll see where it goes but Max. How did you feel about talk over all before we Dick Downs? Don't any kind of screwed up by not properly framing this as the GD talk they were going to have for game developers people to chat or credit back going. I think obviously this is not for us. This is not for presses now for consumers this is not for fans this is. This is something that was made for people specifically who make video games and know how they're made in how you utilize technology to bring your dreams to life and whatnot I think it's really surprising that they didn't they didn't try to sort of like. Just disclose that sooner you know because it most people don't know what GDP is they're just like. Hey here's that big playstation five reveal. You've been waiting for. I was Kinda shocked that we didn't get like they didn't have any anything that had a little sizzle to it like. We didn't have like a big. You know like even just a cool motion graphic of like. Hey here's the new controller. Here's what the box looks like right now all we have is the logo reveal from from CBS and then a whole bunch of stuff from our external who was awesome like brilliant and we should listen to him obviously but like from a marketing standpoint? This feels like pretty much like putting the cart before the horse and it felt like something. Kinda slip through the cracks. You know yeah the the timing on all of it is bizarre because we are. We are starving for news on this thing and this is not exactly what the mass market in general populace has looking for. It made me think about like how like ghost ghostbusters. Like the Egon movie. You know it's like thanks to starve of ghostbusters. Like Egan's awesome. He's integral you need him there. But if he was talking for eighty percent of the film people wouldn't remember it as fondly it. This is like we want. We want all we have is like the dumbest thing in the world. Which is the logo and the smartest thing in the world? Which has this presentation and I need something in the middle. That sort of just like this is how this applies like in English on. You know like this is the part where the you're holding the controller this is. This is what the box looks like. We've seen so much from the series x already. And we're still really in the dark with a lot of stuff on playstation. I agree I think that they should have been a consumer-friendly bridge between the logo. Reveal end in a deep dive on the specs like I am pleased we got the deep diving was fix. I'm pleased that we were invited to be part of that. Jd Talk that we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise would have sought out on the volt but yeah they're definitely needed to be a bridge. Because I think that the the wording around this was clear enough consumers. A lot of people did think that they were gonNA get a big. Ps Five reveal. And that's not what

"Sony basically took its planned. Gd presentation about the technical specifications of the playstation five and placed Mark Cerny in front of a Green Screen. In order to give the presentation he would have given at the show and while it was awkward to look at it was full of interesting and dense information from a very smart man who is good at explaining things at the same time. Sony insurnace presentation went live digital foundry released an article about the presentation that they were able to watch early and they also added some additional details it received from speaking with Sunni separately including specific numbered specs about the playstation five Sunni. Opened the presentation. Basically saying there won't be any information about Games which was disappointing but not unexpected in making the system. Cerny said he and Sony had three principles kept in mind when developing it listening to developers one balancing evolution and revolution to and finding new dreams. Which is kind of the idea that you have to think. Beyond just processing power and try to think of unique ways that developers can use the system to make interesting games and really be able to new ideas. A large portion of the presentation covered the advantage of using a solid state hard drive and SSD Sunni said that including the SSD was the thing most requested from developers. He has visited over the last few years and he thinks it really is the key for the next generation from their. The presentation got very very technical and talked in depth about how games pull data from discs. And how pulling data from different areas of a disc really slows everything down and how the SSD basically eliminates the process for. The computers need to seek out data in some ways. The presentation felt like it was more about the advantage of having an SSD than it was about. How great the playstation five is going to

"Five is what the next position we'll be called now we know and knowing is half the battle los new details about this week coming holiday twenty twenty the first release window the first Nexgen release window we they get some real news about like hardware stuff yeah but I also like that they just got out of the way like it stops us having to do that awkward like the next playstation and Mike Scarlet and like you know we knew it didn't really know it was coming twenty twenty and we knew that we didn't really know what it's called the PS five so I appreciate that it's just put that to bed yeah it makes it easier to write about sure to say playstation five not what we assume is playstation five and we assume comes out and bunny twenty are they just gonNa keep it forever will there eventually just be a police ten yup I think so playstation x gotta be do you remember those ads there was at ps two or three there were like fake it wasn't ad for like the playstation Ni- I remember for gaming the distant future what do you guys think holiday twenty twenty you guys feel like you'll be ready to buy a new playstation yeah carrots I'm Eddie ready you're ready right now I would the thing is I have two places at my house and one of them is on its last leg and I have to just this black Friday you buy a playstation for a year I'd rather just replace them both to ps five yeah that's fair I never upgraded to the pro so I'm definitely ready to Oh cool cool people that got the pro or the xbox one acts particularly the one exits doing fourcade more competent way like you know maybe they don't feel quite as rate upgrade but I skipped both so probably word of this. PS for a deal on black Friday you can just read all about it on Nigerian deals they'll probably be that is a joke but they'll probably be like a hundred and fifty bucks it's like last year they had the slim and it was like two hundred bucks with Spiderman and so it's like is it going to be two hundred bucks with Orlands or distracting or something like that it's like that is what I'm looking for you WANNA slim you don't Wanna pro will so it's for my wife and so she I have a pro and she has launch. ps four that is just like has pt on it so we've got that around but it really doesn't even accept this kind of like you got to be like getting there so I'm just oh by her slim because she she doesn't care I think this is the year and it's GonNa get even worse last year where many game developers have just kind of given up on making games run and like a good competent way on like a base xbox embedded control as amazing that game is is like it's a you know there are problems with running that game on a base. PS four and two yeah and I you know I only saw like an animated gift fund read it but like the new raid in destiny is having problems on a launch x one like it's just so I think that's what I'm ready for I'm ready for developers to once again be able to make console games for one console like instead of being like okay here's assassin's creed Odyssey and this somehow has to run on the launch xbox now it's going to be like this is an xbox scarlet does that playstation five game yeah I think that's what I'm however however short that window of time may be until yeah they'll be a revision the a little bit of a crossover to where they're still making them for peaceful for but we got a bunch of hardware details on places and five as well but I also want to point out that the way Sony is rolling out information about the console is continues to baffle me very strange I think highly unusual what part about it well it was a playstation blog post like they're not having a big showcase for playstation for like a big event consistently been through wired magazine to also it's like every time Martin's earnings in the area he's away it's almost like what does wired have on so that's my fear they must have dug up this because this occasionally happens where you know a reporter may dig up information and they say hey we're gonna run this story and then the publisher decides right hold on we'll play ball so that at least the story as it comes out won't be this fragmented thing I mean I think a lot of it is deaf kits are getting the hands of more and more third parties so some of the details like I think I speculate that that's why we got controller details is because controller prototypes are probably already in the hands of people that are not Sony employees anymore so it's like even though they're under NDA and everybody's professional once that stuff leaves your four walls like that those details we're gonNA start leaking anyway maybe they left it at a bar around the corner from Wires men would not be the first time I mean wouldn't that also be around the corner from our office I know we don't go to the right bars also but Sean Laden is leaving playstation or has left which one which I I'm not sure it announced that he was leaving I mean in general they all Manson was also weird because normally do something more for Malaika blog post They just did this like innocuous tweet so everyone's like wait that's not how they do thank you for your service into the next generation of playstation like they don't really have they have Shuhei Yoshida but aside from that they don't have like a face of the brand out Jack Trenton was there ah assured in the PS four yeah and then he left yeah strange you would think like twelve months from now everything's baked the council's done the launch lineups cited that would feel like a better time for maybe some executive departures Feels a little early yeah I think so too well maybe intentionally so if you're not prepared to usher in the PS fight now is the right time to leave so someone else can start of pick that up and then decide to be the face and carried out leave a little less confusion you want to do it all right I'm Dan I don't want Mark Cerny to just run everything I he seemed like this like tech you know in the garage inventing things and stuff like that I can just picture being the face of being three Industry Yeah I like the egg heads well let's talk about some of these details then it's getting the new controller we stayed don't think they've called the dual shock five yet although I would assume that's what it's become will include haptic feedback which just fancy rumble that sounds like gimmicky things a that was an xbox one controller from launch and like racing games used it yeah and that's it I mean everyone talks about the fans see rumble in the switch controlling and like I think it's completely overrated jacquet grumbled to me plus one party game when like a shoot Mario Odyssey used a little bit could be a case of developers just not but it's also I guess my point is that this is already exists and has been underutilized it's not the most exciting next feature now I think that well I know you're going to get to it but the trigger sound more fund adaptive vigors. Yeah so developers will be able to through the coding of the game we'll be able to change detention that you feel on your triggers that's interesting so I should feel more like you know emmy downsides will be ask sneezy but like the back of bolstering have more resistance on your finger that's seems a lot more intriguing to me personally yeah that can be could be cool if you're doing it I just thought of it like if the dark souls if you have like a smaller sword maybe not you but if you're playing if you have like a small sword or like a heavy sword maybe it's maybe it's heavier Richard. I'm excited about it but you're never going to be like forcing the trigger it's going to be pretty minimal right so I don't know being finger exercises in preparation in the name of ah accessibility like I love the xbox what's the name of their now see adaptive controller controller lecture give people complete freedom to recap the controls how they want I don't know that there's a particular you know accessibility concern around you know adaptive triggers quality of life improvements The control is supposed to have a higher capacity if that trace news the most exciting and they said it slightly heavier sorry the last thing on the controller but not as heavy as an xbox controller with batteries and the controller is on the light I wanNA come a little bit heavier a bit more substantial also charges with USB which is very cutting because I love you know being able to. I mean it's up it's something so it comes from a long history of developers trying to make Games look more look more realistic so like we used to have rationalizing is kind of our Oh to where it's measuring how light looks and then we had like cute little advances from their words like shadows and reflections but now you can do that in a former realistic way I think the way that it's been described as it's like physics space look on the image rather than a creative base look at it so it's going to be far more realistic and when you look at unlike red dead too and it's so beautiful with its lighting and it's it's God raised coming through the trees and whatnot yeah but imagine what they can do to make that look even

Sony confirms PlayStation 5 name, holiday 2020 release date

"One of the rope reports sufficiently called the playstation five and it is coming holiday twenty twenty go this is I'm so excited to be here on this day justice shit shit on the energy in the in the in the building just are you how many ps fives are you going to buy all my seven Oh man and you never know how many I like to have backups all right I like somebody works just in case something goes down this is Sony's own Jim Ryan over at the playstation blog but I'm gonNA jump into a wired report in the middle of it 'cause I'm crazy so since we originally unveiled our next generation console on April we know that there's been a lot of excitement and interest in hearing more about what the future of Games we'll bring today I'm proud to share that our next generation console we'll be called playstation five and we'll be watching in time for holiday twenty twenty these updates may not be a huge surprise but we won confirm them for our playstation fans as we start to reveal additional details about our vision for the next generation wired magazine covered these updates and more in stories that posted this morning I really appreciate that they wanted to give us the released date and you're like you know this is what it is here we're not gonNA do a huge event or whatever they tell you yeah I wanna get into that because this has been rollout of it hasn't been traditional playstation slash video games however Jim in this blog post is going to go into the details of his more and what he's talking about there bullet points from the wired article though or this again talking about that solid state drive that it'll be running on explaining how that actually works and while faster get rid of low times Mark Cerny does a great job yeah way too smart to have anything to do video games mark stern is one of those rare people that when I read the quote from him I read it I can hear him saying yeah me too yeah got a very distinct voice of Personnel physical games for the playstation five will use one hundred gigabyte optical discs inserted into an optical drive that doubles as a four K. Blu ray player they started talking about how the UI playstation four is pretty stagnated doesn't feel alive they started saying they're gonNa be more of that meaning Cerny goes into Code here multi-player Games servers will provide the call and so with the set of joint -able activities in real time single player Games will provide information like what missions you could do in what words you might receive completing them and all of those choices we visible in the U. I as a player you just jump right into whatever you like end quote cool they were talking about here like right now I'd see Kevin playing borderline ends I'd say Bruce Playing God of war but I would still be to actually know what was going on I have to join the games to see what was going to watch more of a here it'll be able from a glance be able to do it and understand if I wanted join right in that's actually a a lot of PC launchers do that right now sorry no bet like we put the bit aside for a little while if you look at Fortnight Gamer Apex game whatever it will how many people are left it'll tell you how many minutes are in the game as right now playstation it will do that of like yeah good point four thirty three left but it won't tell you like it's a specific and you're talking very specifically I think as like across the board God this will be the standard this is what it looked like controllers are going to be there earlier than the dual shock four but tha but lighter than an xbox controller with batteries in it this is because because of how they're moving away from the dual shock and using haptic feedback but we'll get to that in a second that's one of Jim's won't things then this right from the wired article while a number of studios already had their playstation five kits the controller prototypes began rolling out much more recently in no one is ready the name specific titles they're developing for playstation five here we got everybody your light listen up for this one we're working on a big one right now says Marco Thrush isn't a blue point games which most recently worked on last year's playstation four remake of classes. I'll let you figure out the rest so it's got to be said of the clauses no way they're doing it again but like not not on the remake but I'm saying like a sequel do that's what he said a big one a big one eight now you figure out what do you think it is I don't hold on let's get through all this information here this buffet playstation news before we start ain't GonNa part like Savages Hotel California right stab it with their steely nice but they just can't kill the beast I was thinking about Hotel California this morning four more this is back to Jim the playstation blog refers to something I'm quite excited about a preview of the next controller that will ship with the playstation five one of our goals with the next generation is to deepen the feeling of immersion when you play games and we had the opportunity with our new controller to re imagine how the sense of touch can add to that immersion to that end there are two key innovations with the playstation fives new controller I we're adopting haptic feedback to replace the rumble technology founding controllers since the fifth generation of consoles you truly feel a broader range of feedback so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much more much different than making tackle on the football field you can even the sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plotting through mud the second innovation is something we call adaptive trick triggers which have been corporate added into the trigger buttons L. to slash our two developers can program the resistance of the triggers that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and Arrow or accelerating an offroad vehicle doc you're terrain in combination with the haptic this can produce a powerful experience that better simulates various actions game creators have started to receive early versions of the new controller and we can't wait to see what their imagination goes with the where their imagination goes with these new features at their disposal so was I write about the happenings in the switch correct St Rumble and all that jazz that's that's kind of what I thought so I assume that now the controller will have that feel of Ajoy Con if you're playing the switch share Yadda I think it's going to be more precision more stuff again wired article of when the reporter gets down there he got to try different thought and he talks about like going through mud in feeling sensations resistance of sand walking through that that's great yeah no really is more immersion like that it's cool and I think it's what they need to go for right I think games are at such an interesting point where you remember growing up and it would be like any S to snes snes to MCC for right huge jump in our into this thing where don't get me wrong playstation for looks better than ps three but it's not night and day Oh my Ashtray playstation five and four K. and all this other jazz in what eight K. and whatever it's going to be facing when we do it it's going to be these incremental upgrades but if they're doing it across the board on everything that's exciting being mark Cerny talked about ray tracing and said it will be hardware accelerated not so that was such a appreciate nerdy drills sounds like I'm not going to get into but correct yeah I'm glad he said it because I know a lot of people complain about we'll know it's has to be hardware can't be software so anyways mark knows what to do that right at the upright that's where he's like

Tensions Over Kashmir Rise but India Says No Plans for War

"The aspect of this crisis of course which caused the whole world to hold its breath certainly instantly at the time is is the prospect of renewed nude confrontation military confrontation that is between pakistan and india over kashmir which has happened before several times. Do we get a sense yet of whether that is he is a live prospect this time round or does pakistan appear not keen on that eventuality box son is said that they don't intend and to go to war and india thankfully said the same thing. I don't envisage this turning into a full-blown conflict. There will be skirmishes. There will be shelling from both sides of the border and there will be incidents sadly off casualties of villages on either side being hit but this is not going to escalate and the concern that the international community has about this turning into a full blown nuclear conflict. I would say <hes> off the mark cerny you will have politicians on both sides light using the extremist narrative but it's not going to turn into that situation <hes> if you look at the situation in the region <hes> it doesn't get dot wallet. We had that incident in february but that was quickly. Resolved didn't escalated beyond a certain

Detroit, Detroit Red Wings And Hockey discussed on 31 Thoughts: The Podcast

"If you hadn't won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings. How would you look back on your career? I don't know. But certainly winning it capped it all you know. I mean you move on. This is something bigger in our life than just playing hockey. And even what we wanna do, you know? But I know now that you never know what it takes to win until you when you think you do every hockey player every athlete for our and I want to win and. In hockey such a team sport. You wanna play a win you want to be successful? But you wanna win and everyone of us play better when we wanna win. But you really don't know what it takes until you win. And I think that's for me. Even after my after career, I take those lessons. I learned in Detroit every single what does it take them? It takes everyone like when I was in Detroit. And I got in Detroit, I can give you a quick story LA kings versus Detroit. So the year before when LA we had a good team. We beat Detroit actually and silly things. This is one nutrition started being kind of people were talking about. And we chipped in to buy shakes guys doing protein shakes post game. So we went to management's look at while buying shakes you'd think at team would pay kind of just ask. And he said, no, we don't have a budget was. Okay. So all the guys were every month different veteran would vita shakes for the team. So the next year I go to Detroit, and I get to Detroit the nets about two weeks before cap, and we're skating and Turner comes to me, and he's got a no, Pat, and he says, you know, what's your workout with chain? And that's why I like to do this post game. I like to do this. He goes Cerny machine. Unia go down. What you if you remember Detroit a gyms, right? You got everything. And this is great any asked me do drink any protein, shake, I go. Yeah. He goes. We'll what brands on like, I don't know. I figured timeless call ES. You know, what flavor flavor vanilla draw brace? He writes down egos. I'll have it tomorrow. You're gonna have like my own brand, you know, like, you know, my own flair. He goes, don't worry. We want to help you. You're here to help us win a Cup and he walks away. So then the next day. I come in the little girl that worked for their foundation. Every team we sign autographs time journey year. Four five times, she says the same thing. Just really nice had little no pants. You know, we do autograph session. We do these things. And I think they were doing stuff at the time where you'd sign your steaks, and whatever they give you credit against the store. She says all the guys like sign them. We had the big signing. We do three years. She goes one you like to do it. I dunno known. I've make Joe non game this. We would never do that. But she says some guys would rather do them before breakfast after practice some guys don't want to do it the day before the game. I'm like, why don't care as whenever it's easier for you. If it's as long as it's known game, damn, okay? And if you give me a couple of days, I'll do it. I go, thanks. She was no problem. She goes which want to help you. She says we want to make your life as possible, you know. So you can help us win a Cup. She walks away. I'm like this whole thing of this entire organization was so ingrained on what their goal was an everybody works. And it was like these nice kind gesture, but it kept reminding you that that's what we all in it for. And then when you win you realize that it's not just a team is not just the players. Not just it's everyone, you know. And it takes everyone to be successful. And that's why you know, I think Detroit is had such success for so long because everybody was on board. It was it was really interesting for me to see and to live that.
