"And across the middle of this piece of paper you draw a straight horizontal line from left to right goes all the way across the paper and this line in this particular representation is going to represent time. This is the x axis so the left side of your paper. Your starting point is reports zero seconds. The far right sign represents some arbitrary point. In time. We'll get to that in a second because it all depends on the specific kind. Kind of wave your drawing so now let's just imagine drawing a nice sine wave, and we start on the left side at centerpoint so zero at the center, Horizontal Line, and draw a nice gentle crest up, and then we come back down cross that centre line, and then draw an equally gentle trough that is of equivalent size to the crest on the opposite side, and then once the line comes back up and crosses the horizontal line. Again We've got one wavelength of a sound wave that this would be in what we would call the time domain, the reason we call it. The time domain is that we are visualizing a sound wave with regard to the passing of time that X. Axis again it's showing the time is passing, so the wavelength describes the distance or the amount of time that passes between two corresponding points on a sine wave. Let's say we draw a series of these like we get twenty sheets of paper. And we draw equal sign waves on each of those twenty sheets of paper, and we put them all side by side, so we get a nice continuous wave all the way down these twenty sheets wide. And we say that each sheet wrappers cents one twentieth of a second so that when we have twenty of them, side by side there represents one seconds worth of time you would say I have twenty wavelengths that span one second. That means that this represents twenty hertz. This is a sound wave with a frequency of twenty hurts because it takes. Twenty of these will pass a given point in space within the span of one second, so then we need to talk about the period of a wave, and this is the inverse of frequency is the amount of time it takes for one wavelength to complete one cycle. So frequency is the number of cycles per second. The period of a wave is the number of seconds per cycle, so for a twenty hertz frequency, the period of the wave would be one twentieth seconds per cycle. That's why we would need twenty sheets of paper with just one nice curvy wave on each piece to represent a twenty hertz wave. Now you could just do this on one sheet of paper. You know you just change the scale, so you change the scale so that every single wavelength represents one twentieth of a second you draw twenty of those on one sheet of paper. They'll be much smaller than our original example, but that would still be twenty hertz wave. It's all dependent on the. The scale of your representation wavelength and frequency are related, and we see that in an equation where we say velocity equals wavelength times frequency, so velocity describes the speed and direction, but we can ignore that for now of a wave as it passes a stationary point, so if we know two of those three factors, we can figure out the third, just a little math right if we know the velocity and we know the wavelength well, we can divide the velocity by the wavelength, and then we have the frequency, or if we know the frequency, but not the wavelength we divide the velocity by the frequency the wavelength. If we know the frequency in the wavelength, multiply them together. We get the velocity. Pretty easy stuff. Now. Speed of sound. Is Not that difficult for us to to get. Our minds wrapped around because we know what the speed of sound is generally speaking. So the speed of sound depends partly upon the medium through which the sound is traveling sound moves that leads through water than it does through the air for example, but even in the air stuff can affect the speed.

Steven Mintz on the Topics of Ethics

"We look to our leaders for strength reassurance we look to them for a plan a strategy that they have our best interests in their minds that's what we look to our leaders some in this country depending on we like we don't like but some are doing better than others some are leading better than others and I think the best leaders the best leaders to me are people who they surround themselves with good people they have good advisors they listen to those advisers now ultimately they make what they feel is the best decision it's on them to make the decision but to have strong voices around you within put and listen to that input and then ultimately make the decision and you have to be decisive and in a perfect world you are your real authentic and giving some hope look at it look at what's happening in our country the governors in five states California Ohio Illinois Massachusetts Washington closed bars restaurants wineries to stop the slow to stop the spread of the coronavirus mayors and in major cities have done the same and that poses a lot of questions should they have the authority is it ethical for the government to shut down private businesses Dr Stephen manse is an author he's got a book out beyond happiness and meaning transforming your life through ethical behavior he's on the centerpoint energy's home service plus hotline Dr Mintz good morning Hey thanks for thanks for speaking with us on this and I'll start with the question that I posed before yeah we see restaurants and bars being shut down schools now shut down here in Minnesota I guess where does the ethical responsibility lie in something like this the schools I think have to exercise personal responsibility they don't want to be in a situation where they're exposing young children to maybe staff or teachers who have the virus or made may be subject to getting the virus it doesn't seem to be transmitted readily from children the children of the nun who have come down with it but you know it's one of the situations where you want to be safe rather than sorry and one one state desert and other state does it may follow the lead and that's you know it's just very conservatively reproach the situation yeah N. N. as we've seen this thing unfold here over the last week what's been your impression of of what you've seen the next messages from the administration with president trump's saying too much no big deal this too will pass and the scientists saying no this is a serious matter we have to hunker down personally I think the reaction of the public is they believe the scientists and we have a lack of credibility from the administration and that's part of the reason the stock market is gyrating up and down they don't know what to do they don't know who to believe and they don't know what's coming next universal and personal responsibility we're we're asked to give up a lot of freedoms which is not a very positive thing people don't want that in the United States most people seem to seem to be taking it to heart but can you hear stories like you know people buying enough toilet paper to last to the end of the year and price gouging and that somebody getting on an airplane jet blue plane and they were waiting for the car coronavirus test so personal responsibility is a big issue was well yeah Dr men's what do you think about your you'd mention the leadership in president trump and kind of downplayed it he's done it a couple times where do you live in terms of you know what a leader has to get up there and make sure that there's not mass hysteria but it may be almost down play situations like that do they have a responsibility to come out and tell the the full truth yes absolutely it's kind of these truthful it's got to be credible and it needs to be complete transparency we don't need to be misled at this point having mixed messages and honesty is an ethical value maybe the most important ethical value and I think it's lacking and that's why you see some of the disruption in stores I know in California we've had some skirmishes in stores in Pasco and so on and these buying sprees that I mentioned before yeah let let me jump off that too he's doctor Stephen Manson's book beyond happiness and meaning transforming your life through ethical behavior and if you want to learn more about him it's Steve men's ethics dot com what let let me ask you about the role that that social media has played in all this too I I've argued that this is this is the first major I mean obviously the first major pandemic we we've we've had in the social media era but but people seen those images and seen those videos now where where before you would you know you would have seen him they would have been on the local news but now we see him all all directly what's your what's your take on on what we've experienced here experiencing the pandemic in a social media world yeah yeah well everybody Sir tune to social media it has a great influence on how people react and yeah we're going to see these images because it's the news and some aspects of what people want to see but social media has a responsibility as well to put out the word sacks the true facts and provide information on what we should do as individuals to stay safe and our loved ones and I'm not sure there is enough of that going on yeah what do you think what do you think the is headed over the next couple of weeks if I don't if you don't mind me asking yeah well I think it's going to get worse before it gets better that certainly was the situation in China and I I guess what I worry about is whether our personal man is going to be restricted obviously don't do that in China but it's in the star Tate of government the second work that well here to be told you can't go from state to state and city to city curfews if they were put in place may not be capped and I think you mentioned at the outset restaurants closing bars close now in California that's a recommendation now it's not a requirement so I'm not sure the people are going to follow that but it's yeah it's it's I think has four to six weeks ago my opinion yeah before we start to see the end of it and we still have that curves gets flattened as everybody yep yep Dr Steven Mintz we appreciate the time and your insight thank you so much thank you for having me you can learn more about him Steve Mintz ethics

Kate Middleton Takes on Her Most Important Role Yet

"It's been a big week for the duchess which is of Cambridge. Who of course took on her first patch big patronage in quite a few months I think the last was the royal photographic society but this week it was announced that she she became the royal patron of family action which has of course been passed down to by the Queen? A big one for her. Yes big one but selling keeping with what her main platform has been. I think it's quite interesting. When we look at the younger generation of roles because for decades the older members of the royal family had had upwards of five hundred six hundred seven hundred patronage is? But what we're seeing with. This younger generation is a much more concentrated focused effort. And you really understand and what they're interested in so of course. This feeds indicates Very hands on work with vulnerable families disadvantaged children and she's made a big point of of fighting for children to have a good early start in life because so much evidence that supports a good early. Start being beneficial to the future so Edition I think with swim definitely and as you say this is kind of continued really. What's being almost an eight year? Focus for her. Now we've seen this kind of continued theme of community support. Family supports child supports. And not just recognizing that families are doing but also Harris Paris and people in different sectors as well family action long established Charity had been founded in eighteen. Sixty nine queen wasn't the first world. Oh Patron Queen. Mary was the royal patron before that. So it's been nice to see this. One been passed down from generation to generation. Definitely is a good continuum isn't it it's an and this This event this week wasn't case I Engagement on behalf of the charity. I I think what's really unique with this one in particular is they're trying to branch shout in as many different ways to help as many families as possible and so I think it was January that she was there when they launched the family line which is using volunteers across the country to help. Oh people through texts and emails and over the phone which that's kind of new universal. You could really tax the charity before help you can out exactly. Ah as you mentioned they did. They do all different areas. They tackle difficult issues at a families face including financial hardship emotional wellbeing socialites isolation Russian and then of course more serious things domestic abuse substance misuse. And so it came as we know has had private meetings with the charity beforehand. This is something that we're really seeing happen. Quite a lot with the younger members of the Royal Family because they are taking on less patterns Jays so they have more time to spend with each charity. It's not just cutting cutting a ribbon here and It's actually a lot more on the ground and hands on definitely and I think that focus is really benefiting the charities in terms of public awareness. Because when will we ever talking about mental health as we are today and you can look at each. I mean we keep talking about William Kate Harry making a switch of this generation. But I think that's the future isn't it with with Charles's vision of a slimmed-down monarchy but you can look at each one of those rules and you know exactly what they're interested in and they're able to use their platform to really highlight the causes that drive them that make them want to raise awareness. "And this is our our centerpoint. This is the middle of the trio that we have on the bull rush. I thought Bill O'Brien had his best game as a coach this year. Next segment. I'll tell you why Bill O'Brien is not as bad as we all think. But if we're going to nitpick every single thing that Bill O'Brien does poorly. Whether it's a challenge, whether it's a timeout, etc. Etc. We have to be fair and also nitpick the good things that he does. Well, and I thought Bill O'Brien in the first quarter absolutely stole three points was three twenty four left to play in the first. There are already leading three nothing. It was third in twenty one from the Jacksonville. Forty six yard line. You probably not going to pick up a first down. You had the win at your back at that point. All you're trying to do is get enough yardage to get into Philip goal range he sneaks in a hat bag drawl. They get a pretty big gain forty seven yard field goal for Fairbairn drills. It I thought that was great game management able to get them up six nothing. If we're going to nitpick how many bad things Bill O'Brien does. I thought that was a really good move to still three points. Yeah. And I think right now the problem is with the feeling of Bill Brian around the city is because he's made so many bad decisions. It's hard to want to look at the positives. But he did a lot of things right in this game. And honestly, they'll enduring this four game win streak. I feel like he's done some things. Right to and I know these done a lot wrong. But when it comes to like the game plan that they had in place for the Jaguars was absolutely perfect. And who puts that game plan together. Bill O'Brien, and his coaches, the the play calling that he's had for the majority of these last four games, especially these last two games has been phenomenal. And that's Bill O'Brien doing that. And so I I know there's still a lot of negativity with him. I know he can be kind of petulant and a little bit surly during press conferences. But at the end of the day, I think he really is he's he's still about where we put him before the season started. He's about that twelve to thirteen th range. If you're ranking the coaches, he's not the best. He's not the worst. He's going to do more right than he does wrong. And I think that's what this is. That's why they are there on this four game win streak to be four and three going into a game against Miami right now. Stephen a Smith had some things to say about Bill O'Brien. We'll discuss that next. Also, do we all the Texans and apology us the ball rush? Or do they owe us a thank you seven one three five seven two four sixteen the DWI attorney dot com. Text line the bull. Rush, just beginning on sports radio six ten. Get.

"Circuit. Jeff centerpoint, go, conquer shoot. Save by darling. Came out to challenge makes the save and holds on. It always talked about conquer as well. In the pre game. And he somebody that's playing with Tony Sara Lee had Yanni gourd. And that's pretty interesting line. Those are three guys that have some experience that can provide some scoring depth on the third fourth lines. There's some grit there's skill and, you know, in this type of atmosphere when a lot of regulars aren't playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning. That is a quote unquote of Goto line for the lightning. And it'll be interesting to see if they can crack the scoresheet here in the third period of put Tampa Bay on the board as they trail three to nothing. Carolina score a couple of goals late in the second period. And so far that has been the difference in this game. So against some younger players getting an opportunity to play. But you also have some veterans as well that are looking to make impact Andrew off. We saw with a big hit in the second period with Cedric Paquette. He is somebody that. Again, fourth line speed some physical nece, and I think all in all that's what you're looking for what you're talking about that bottom six four type energy physical play. It. Can't you chip in offensively? Just a little bit. I want to take a look at some key stats specifically shots-on-goal presented by the official shot of the Tampa Bay Lightning right now they have credited Carolina with nineteen shots on goal. Tampa Bay with eighteen both teams had seven shots on goal in that first period. All right when we return we'll try look at some scores from around the National Hockey League as we get set for the third period with Dave Michigan. Kaley Chellios on the call. So glad you're with us. Don't forget after the game. We're going to have the last call myself an Eric Earl and sin will be taking your tweets. And it'll be talking about this game.
