I i do believe that there will be some opportunities to push forward With a tort suit against urkel other entities. Just because there's going to be a question of whether or not they knew or should have known of what was going to May happen and so because of that There may be a window open for those who Needs to pursue claims based on the damages to their home or or to their persons. And so i would definitely look into the facts of each case and see if there's something there because i do think that there will be a window open for individuals to file claims.

"Right, 7 46. Now we continue. Bobbin for Jimmy share is here and joining us Now, as promised, is Kenny Mercado, executive vice president at Centerpoint. Kenny. Good morning. Hey. Good morning. Thank you. Yes, sir. Thank you for being here. We There's so many questions that so many people have now about what happened to the electrical grid. The power is out for still what 1.4 million. I think in the state can you talk to us about when we're getting this power back on? Yeah, Bob, the information that I have fresh from last night. Remains consistent. We continue to see generation offline, uh, as result of the winter winter weather and, uh and as that generation Has continued to, um ADM or more units off line. It continues to put significant stress. Our ability to keep the grid stable and keep the grid safe and operating across the state of Texas. Okay, this is one of the things that you do, though. I mean, in the summertime, you, you you determine where the needs going to be, and you start adjusting the grid. Something went wrong and it's just a matter of days. But it's just amazing to all of us out here. That it it all cratered so quickly and cascaded as it did, And we've got ER cup, which supposedly is supposed to be sort of helping oversee all this. The Public Utilities Commission. Where are they? Everybody's just finger pointing at each other. And most of blame is going to you the private provider. Why is this happening? Sure I don't I I can tell you that we were regulated instead of Texas Way own and maintain the wires that delivered the power, But we're not involved in the generation, so I don't have a lot of ability to talk about. Generation side of the market. I will say that our grid is operating very well. Today. Our transmission system eyes an order from the storm. We're we're back 100% on order. Distribution system. We have a few more minor repairs today that we will take care of a soon as the state of sin is the generating units Come back on on. I've been given a word that there's several big generators. They're gonna come on today, Sheriff. On that will help us that will help us provides a significant Maura amount of power to two are areas I've got. I've got to stand by and wait for that to occur. But that's kind of the current stance that I'm aware of. Okay, with this winter storm coming and precipitation, particularly up north, where there's more worry about transmission lines And, of course, with the streets almost impassable. I did see a lot of trucks of your CenterPoint trucks out yesterday. But what? What are your preparations for that? Yeah, we're gonna have the same preparations as we had for this event, the biggest issue that we have believe it or not, is ice. Ice and wind is our issue and ice creates Wait and wait creates pressure on the pressure is what can cause damages to our our our facilities way, But we experienced it in this in this talent time Storm. And we had what sometimes is known as a kind of a galloping conductor with wires start to swing and sway because of the unique formation of the ice. I'm buying with perpendicular win, but we were able to Tolo T go through that process without any damages were very, very, uh, comfortable with the way the transmission system operates, operated over the last two days. I think we'll be in pretty good shape for that for the next event that's coming up here later this week, assuming that we can get the generation back on and it could be stable because those units where they come on, it doesn't take them time.

Well, some good news for us this morning when it comes to this kroner virus craziness that we're going through on the This is just a really cool story. And I think we're gonna put the video of 40 on our website, too. Might be the best good news story I've seen in a while. A cleaning lady in New York lost her job during covert and had to move in with her sister after working at the same upscale apartment building for 20 years. Everybody who lives there loves her. So they pull their money together and moved her into the penthouse of the building. It's a newly renovated four bedroom, two massive rooftop terraces, and they covered her rent for two years. We're not sure how much it is, but the average rent in Manhattan. Is $3800 a month. So times that by 24, Yeah. Ah, lots of cash, And when she showed up, she thought the building manager hired to clean the place. But instead, he showed her around, handing her the keys and said, it's yours for two years. She was obviously completely overwhelmed, broke down in tears and that we do have the whole thing on video and we will put it up in our website deputy er cfm dot com Man. What a great news story that is. I've loved that 6 55 Alabama's Morning news. Are you dealing with homework with the kids back when our parents were helping us with our homework before the Internet was a thing, how they do it. They actually like you know this stuff because, according to a new survey, two thirds of parents say they rely on Google when they help their kids with their homework. I think the kids rely on it to 79% of parents say they do remember some of the stuff they learned in school, but they still struggle, especially with the kids. Math homework. Main reason kids learn math differently today, and it just baffles us that learned it the other way. No wonder the show was so successful, smarter than 1/5 grade. At this point in our lives, probably not survey also found the top ways that parents get out of helping their kid with homework, asking their partner to help instead coming home late doing laundry or other chores, instead claiming to be too tired. Doing an emergency grocery room. Mom, can you help me? I gotta go get some milk, honey, you know, ask, ask your dad. Uh yeah. So are you struggling with that kind of thing? You're not alone. So when it comes to dinners now, this is kind of interesting. You remember back in the early quarantine when everybody was all excited about cooking and baking? Well, that's long gone, according to the new survey. We got burned out of being in the kitchen by last mayor June, and we've been quote running on fumes ever since. This is the storms that we were talking about earlier and Dr Tim is talking about He's got damaged in CenterPoint. He was out driving around and 79 Sun Hill Road. 79 Sun Hill Road there in the Center Point area. We're gonna work to see if we can get Tim on the phone with us. Um, an old unveil the whites flickering on and off incredible rain there. This looks like it's going to track just to the north of the Odin Ville area, But we do have numerous reports of damage. In Fulton Dale based on what we've seen from the radar data. And also the debris Signature, you know, looks very much like we had a tornado moved through their higher winds moving through ST Clair County and again outside of the warrant area. We do have Raglan and it wouldn't surprise me if we have some high winds move through the Ragland area. I want to make sure if you're in Ragland, you are paying attention to the weather. I know the warnings a little farther to the north. And that's where the original Tauron attic signature was heading. But I think there's been a little bit of a shift here. We may have some higher winds moving through the Ragland area, so we're gonna really stay on top of this over the next little bit where the storm goes. Eventually, I think we see it on into any white County. There's a whole bunch of of rain. I mean, incredibly heavy rain. The worst of the lightning is around Coldwell and Cool Springs. And then back out to the West West was talking about Pickens County under the severe Thunder Storm warning, So that's what we have right now, Wes. I'm gonna turn it back over to. You need to run and get a little information, and I'll be right back. Yeah, I'm just looking at some of the damage reports that we have coming in. I've solved one image here. Looks like maybe hotel was quite a bit of damage there that were Tracking in the Fulton Dale area. That's we had some of the damage earlier. Let me reset, Show you what's happening here at the moment and what we really need to watch out for. We're keeping an eye on West. Alabama had a couple of areas where we had that severe thunderstorm warning for Pickens County. That storm is weak and still need to watch this one right here. It's got very strong kind of a hook signature to it across North Tuscaloosa County need to watch that when And notice right here. This arrow That's where our systems detecting some very strong rotation and ST Clair County, and we still have this warning at SEC to expire in 11 30. Let me check your The weather service may be about to expand that particular warning and it looks like Okay. They just canceled the severe thunderstorm warning. No word here on what's going to happen with Pickens County. But we may see that expanded right here. There are systems still indicating where we may have a tornado. So bottom line. If you are watching us, I'd say Raglin to the hood community at this point. Just be ready to take action at any moment If we see this upgraded You know, I'm looking at this. I'm seeing.

How to Land a Sponsorship Deal
"I did learn sales and i had a talent for sale so i knew that whatever i did i can always find work because people always need somebody to sell for them but then of course i said we'll let strike out on my own and start these businesses but the businesses Did not work. So i took that job and it was just a really toxic situation. I had to work with people. I didn't like and sometimes at lunch i would just go down on my car and cry and then i was in that abusive relationship for four years because basically i had no self-confidence the one thing that precipitated me leaving that job was my boss moving in with me in the same office and i had kind of a jerry maguire ending where i said forget it. I can't be here anymore. I had no job to go to when i broke up with the abusive boyfriend. I had no other relationship to go to. But i just kinda knew that everything would work out for me I love your story. And i relate to it especially this part of your story where we always have naysayers in our. We have people who say we can't do something or we shouldn't do something and usually they're the closest people to us there are family. There are close friends. The other relate to is this whole business class thing. I started as an econ. Major and quickly realized i wasn't jiving with the not kind of class i got into film and you grew up with art being centerpoint. As you've just said. I know one of the people who's both special in your life but also was that early. Naysayers your father. Keene talk about your relationship with him and how played a role in your life. Yeah well i've always had kind of a good relationship with my dad in. I admire him very much. And my father is all of five foot three. He's a very small man. And i'm not even by feet tall so i definitely take after him in a lot of ways but after the two failed businesses. I said dad. I'm going to start another business and remember all had was art school training. So what would you say to a crazy kid. Who said okay. I'm going to do another one. He said you're crazy. He said you're not qualified. You're living in a dream and it was really really hurtful to me and we didn't talk for about a year. We had a rift between us. I didn't really come to family functions. But i gotta tell you that my father. He did come around. He called me and he said. I am so sorry for anything that i said that was hurtful to you and linda. I m so proud of you. And i want everybody. Who's listening to this. If you have children please tell them how proud you are them every day because they are dining your it. I thought my heart would absolutely burst wide open when he said that. And now my dad is my biggest fan. Where so close. It's embarrassing. I have a daddy date every sunday. And he's really helping me through this time. The pandemic linda. He says i grew up in the depression. We didn't cast. We didn't have when people we had bread lines and we were so isolated. I want to tell people that are listening to us. Maybe you have a great support system. Maybe dull and i didn't. I didn't have the support my family. So i listened to things like this podcast. I went to entrepreneurial groups. I found a group of people who could support me and hold my business in light. So you've gotta find that group who can support you and who you can learn from also remember the people in your life habit agenda. My dad had an agenda. He was being protected dad. He didn't wanna see me fail again. He didn't wanna see me get hurt. I see that now. But i was a little too immature to see it at the time Yeah and i think they do have our best interests at heart and it just comes out in a different way. By the way you lead your an emotive person and so You know. I relate to that sale side. You've found your sales side. I found my sales side. You say sponsorship says the relationship is. We'll get into that in a minute before we get into that. You know the other thing that you talk about as you got third business idea. Which was your bag business. You said you were there with your cat. Your cats are business partner kind of sitting on your kitchen table and you had this idea and you became your name and your brand became the wealthy bag lady. Talk about that experience. And then how that led to the women's small business expo which really opened your eyes to this world sponsorship. Well the bag. Business was a business that i started with. My best friend cheryl being an artist. I had always collected with beautiful graphics and one day my mother your survivor of a jewish mother. You'll know what i'm talking about said. I'm coming by your apartment now. I was living in a little rent controlled apartment. And what you do with everything. That's laying around. Kate Middleton Takes on Her Most Important Role Yet
"It's been a big week for the duchess which is of Cambridge. Who of course took on her first patch big patronage in quite a few months I think the last was the royal photographic society but this week it was announced that she she became the royal patron of family action which has of course been passed down to by the Queen? A big one for her. Yes big one but selling keeping with what her main platform has been. I think it's quite interesting. When we look at the younger generation of roles because for decades the older members of the royal family had had upwards of five hundred six hundred seven hundred patronage is? But what we're seeing with. This younger generation is a much more concentrated focused effort. And you really understand and what they're interested in so of course. This feeds indicates Very hands on work with vulnerable families disadvantaged children and she's made a big point of of fighting for children to have a good early start in life because so much evidence that supports a good early. Start being beneficial to the future so Edition I think with swim definitely and as you say this is kind of continued really. What's being almost an eight year? Focus for her. Now we've seen this kind of continued theme of community support. Family supports child supports. And not just recognizing that families are doing but also Harris Paris and people in different sectors as well family action long established Charity had been founded in eighteen. Sixty nine queen wasn't the first world. Oh Patron Queen. Mary was the royal patron before that. So it's been nice to see this. One been passed down from generation to generation. Definitely is a good continuum isn't it it's an and this This event this week wasn't case I Engagement on behalf of the charity. I I think what's really unique with this one in particular is they're trying to branch shout in as many different ways to help as many families as possible and so I think it was January that she was there when they launched the family line which is using volunteers across the country to help. Oh people through texts and emails and over the phone which that's kind of new universal. You could really tax the charity before help you can out exactly. Ah as you mentioned they did. They do all different areas. They tackle difficult issues at a families face including financial hardship emotional wellbeing socialites isolation Russian and then of course more serious things domestic abuse substance misuse. And so it came as we know has had private meetings with the charity beforehand. This is something that we're really seeing happen. Quite a lot with the younger members of the Royal Family because they are taking on less patterns Jays so they have more time to spend with each charity. It's not just cutting cutting a ribbon here and It's actually a lot more on the ground and hands on definitely and I think that focus is really benefiting the charities in terms of public awareness. Because when will we ever talking about mental health as we are today and you can look at each. I mean we keep talking about William Kate Harry making a switch of this generation. But I think that's the future isn't it with with Charles's vision of a slimmed-down monarchy but you can look at each one of those rules and you know exactly what they're interested in and they're able to use their platform to really highlight the causes that drive them that make them want to raise awareness. Raise money and really get stuck in. But I think it's interesting too as you mentioned omits mid it's no longer just unveiling a plaque cutting a ribbon. Several years ago Williams left out on the streets with the homeless to highlight the work of centerpoint Harry trekking to the poll with with wounded veterans. Megan getting hands on with the Grenfell Tower Cookbook. She was in the kitchen. She wasn't just. They're writing forward. So we're really seeing again with Keeton eighteen her Chelsea Flower Show Garden. She really had an active role in that in designing that and being hands on with it so I think I think it's quite nice for the roles to you because they're able to then just really get embedded and get to know the people they're working with and who the
