The storm slows down the train training of the rain bands coming on shore. You know, we just want this thing to come onshore. And keep moving. We've been monitored during this tropical storm Nicholas, and as we saw that it was Starting to come into our area. We've started our mercy operation Preparedness plans. We've recalled all of our workers that were helping out Louisiana. Um so they're back in Houston now, and we have more more than 3200 electric crews ready to respond to Restore parachute had happened. They will be working 16 hour shifts beginning to see evening starting in the morning, and the company is also prepared substation by closing floodgates and moving equipment materials to higher ground. We are. We're very prepared for this. This this tropical storm. Even being prepared doesn't mean people are going to encounter problems talk a little bit about what the consumers should know and be doing and staying safe. Well from the forecast, the biggest concern continues to be flooding. Customers can expect to be to customers may be without power for a period of time. We expect or hope customers should have their emergency and pan plan in place, especially those who depend on Electricity for life sustaining equipment. Several people injured in Houston natural gas explosion, fire near Klein
"Huge natural gas explosion insured seven houston area utility workers friday evening texas. Public radio's jerry clayton reports. One person was critically injured. The harris county fire marshal's office reports. The explosion happened in a residential area around six. Pm on friday. A centerpoint energy crew was repairing damage from an earlier pipeline break. When they struck a larger six inch high pressure natural gas pipe in incline just northwest of houston several nearby. Homes were evacuated one home sustained minor damage residents were allowed to return to their homes. Early saturday after the fire was extinguished. Centerpoint energy says about eight hundred customers were affected by guess outage. All of the injured parties are employees of centerpoint

"Still on state on site restoring natural gas inclined Following that massive fire last night. The fire is out and evacuated. Residents are back in their homes. Chief Gosling with Klein Fire Department tells our TV partner Channel two this morning. Six CenterPoint workers were injured last night running of five were transported last night by ground ambulance is to various hospitals. One was life flighted to Hermann Hospital. That particular patient was in critical but stable condition. I don't have a don't have an update on that five that were ground transporting a Comcast crew had hit a gas line and then CenterPoint crew was sent out. They fixed the line, but then, in the process, they hit a second six inch pressured natural gas pipeline that caused that massive explosion and fire 100. Residents were evacuated. Three CenterPoint trucks also destroyed in the fire.

A busted pipe and water in the house has the currently move out and live in a hotel for now And so we've been dealing with Really trying to Not only get my family Back to where. They need to be focused on a lot of the families. Within district j who had similar circumstances what assistance or guidance can you offer any city residents dealing with cleanup lingering plumbing issues leaks struggling to find the plumber waiting on insurance estimates. Any anything you can offer on that front. We just have to be diligent yet to understand that everyone is calling the insurance companies plumbers and contractors at the same time. And so there's extremely long waits. And i know it gets frustrated So you just have to really just stay diligent Being courteous and understand that help is on the way. Our office has been able to assist residents within district. Jay and trying to direct them to Different resources and so. There's anyone living in the district j community. I don't know if you caught the discussion just before you came on but we were talking about how Some efforts to sue urquhot could end up potentially a waste of time as though it's a nonprofit it's one established by state government. The texas supreme court needs decide if it has sovereign immunity aside from being on houston city council you own a civil litigation law firm pollard. Legal group if someone came to you seeking to sue urquhot or the state or centerpoint or anyone else over what happened last week. What would be your advice. I would definitely look into it Because right now based on pending litigation at the supreme court level. I i do believe that there will be some opportunities to push forward With a tort suit against urkel other entities. Just because there's going to be a question of whether or not they knew or should have known of what was going to May happen and so because of that There may be a window open for those who Needs to pursue claims based on the damages to their home or or to their persons. And so i would definitely look into the facts of each case and see if there's something there because i do think that there will be a window open for individuals to file claims.

We have a distribution system they'll be ready to go today. For the next storm, And as soon as we get the generation back on across the greater Houston area, then you will see the power delivered to the customers very efficiently, very safely. It's quickly as we can. Meanwhile, ERCOT says that those rolling blackouts will continue.

We continue to see generation offline, uh, as result of the winter winter weather and, uh and as that generation Has continued to, um ADM or more units off line. It continues to put significant stress. Our ability to keep the grid stable and keep the grid safe and operating across the state of Texas. Okay, this is one of the things that you do, though. I mean, in the summertime, you, you you determine where the needs going to be, and you start adjusting the grid. Something went wrong and it's just a matter of days. But it's just amazing to all of us out here. That it it all cratered so quickly and cascaded as it did, And we've got ER cup, which supposedly is supposed to be sort of helping oversee all this. The Public Utilities Commission. Where are they? Everybody's just finger pointing at each other. And most of blame is going to you the private provider. Why is this happening? Sure I don't I I can tell you that we were regulated instead of Texas Way own and maintain the wires that delivered the power, But we're not involved in the generation, so I don't have a lot of ability to talk about. Generation side of the market. I will say that our grid is operating very well. Today. Our transmission system eyes an order from the storm. We're we're back 100% on order. Distribution system. In Fulton Dale based on what we've seen from the radar data. And also the debris Signature, you know, looks very much like we had a tornado moved through their higher winds moving through ST Clair County and again outside of the warrant area. We do have Raglan and it wouldn't surprise me if we have some high winds move through the Ragland area. I want to make sure if you're in Ragland, you are paying attention to the weather. I know the warnings a little farther to the north. And that's where the original Tauron attic signature was heading. But I think there's been a little bit of a shift here. We may have some higher winds moving through the Ragland area, so we're gonna really stay on top of this over the next little bit where the storm goes. Eventually, I think we see it on into any white County. There's a whole bunch of of rain. I mean, incredibly heavy rain. The worst of the lightning is around Coldwell and Cool Springs. And then back out to the West West was talking about Pickens County under the severe Thunder Storm warning, So that's what we have right now, Wes. I'm gonna turn it back over to. This arrow That's where our systems detecting some very strong rotation and ST Clair County, and we still have this warning at SEC to expire in 11 30. Let me check your The weather service may be about to expand that particular warning and it looks like Okay. They just canceled the severe thunderstorm warning. No word here on what's going to happen with Pickens County. But we may see that expanded right here. There are systems still indicating where we may have a tornado. So bottom line. "I did learn sales and i had a talent for sale so i knew that whatever i did i can always find work because people always need somebody to sell for them but then of course i said we'll let strike out on my own and start these businesses but the businesses Did not work. So i took that job and it was just a really toxic situation. I had to work with people. I didn't like and sometimes at lunch i would just go down on my car and cry and then i was in that abusive relationship for four years because basically i had no self-confidence the one thing that precipitated me leaving that job was my boss moving in with me in the same office and i had kind of a jerry maguire ending where i said forget it. I can't be here anymore. I had no job to go to when i broke up with the abusive boyfriend. I had no other relationship to go to. But i just kinda knew that everything would work out for me I love your story. And i relate to it especially this part of your story where we always have naysayers in our. We have people who say we can't do something or we shouldn't do something and usually they're the closest people to us there are family. There are close friends. The other relate to is this whole business class thing. I started as an econ. Major and quickly realized i wasn't jiving with the not kind of class i got into film and you grew up with art being centerpoint. As you've just said. I know one of the people who's both special in your life but also was that early. Naysayers your father. Keene talk about your relationship with him and how played a role in your life. Yeah well i've always had kind of a good relationship with my dad in. I admire him very much. And my father is all of five foot three. He's a very small man. And i'm not even by feet tall so i definitely take after him in a lot of ways but after the two failed businesses. I said dad. I'm going to start another business and remember all had was art school training. So what would you say to a crazy kid. Who said okay. I'm going to do another one. He said you're crazy. He said you're not qualified. You're living in a dream and it was really really hurtful to me and we didn't talk for about a year. We had a rift between us. I didn't really come to family functions. But i gotta tell you that my father. He did come around. He called me and he said. I am so sorry for anything that i said that was hurtful to you and linda. I m so proud of you. And i want everybody. Who's listening to this. If you have children please tell them how proud you are them every day because they are dining your it. I thought my heart would absolutely burst wide open when he said that. And now my dad is my biggest fan. Where so close. It's embarrassing. I have a daddy date every sunday. And he's really helping me through this time. The pandemic linda. He says i grew up in the depression. We didn't cast. We didn't have when people we had bread lines and we were so isolated. I want to tell people that are listening to us. Maybe you have a great support system. Maybe dull and i didn't. I didn't have the support my family. So i listened to things like this podcast. I went to entrepreneurial groups. I found a group of people who could support me and hold my business in light. So you've gotta find that group who can support you and who you can learn from also remember the people in your life habit agenda. My dad had an agenda. He was being protected dad. He didn't wanna see me fail again. He didn't wanna see me get hurt. I see that now. But i was a little too immature to see it at the time Yeah and i think they do have our best interests at heart and it just comes out in a different way. By the way you lead your an emotive person and so You know. I relate to that sale side. You've found your sales side. I found my sales side. You say sponsorship says the relationship is. We'll get into that in a minute before we get into that. You know the other thing that you talk about as you got third business idea. Which was your bag business. Hurricane Laura: The latest on storm's impact on Houston

This feeds indicates Very hands on work with vulnerable families disadvantaged children and she's made a big point of of fighting for children to have a good early start in life because so much evidence that supports a good early. Start being beneficial to the future so Edition I think with swim definitely and as you say this is kind of continued really. What's being almost an eight year? Focus for her. Now we've seen this kind of continued theme of community support. Family supports child supports. And not just recognizing that families are doing but also Harris Paris and people in different sectors as well family action long established Charity had been founded in eighteen. Quite a lot with the younger members of the Royal Family because they are taking on less patterns Jays so they have more time to spend with each charity. It's not just cutting cutting a ribbon here and It's actually a lot more on the ground and hands on definitely and I think that focus is really benefiting the charities in terms of public awareness. Because when will we ever talking about mental health as we are today and you can look at each. I mean we keep talking about William Kate Harry making a switch of this generation. But I think that's the future isn't it with with Charles's vision of a slimmed-down monarchy but you can look at each one of those rules and you know exactly what they're interested in and they're able to use their platform to really highlight the causes that drive them that make them want to raise awareness.
